00:00:00.000 Daniel Penny has been found not guilty and has been cleared of wrongdoing by a Manhattan jury
00:00:07.560 in the death of Jordan Neely. We will look at this verdict today. We will analyze the outcome.
00:00:14.180 We will compare and contrast social justice and mob justice versus real actual biblical justice,
00:00:20.880 as well as masculinity and the need for more courage. We've got so much to talk about today.
00:00:28.900 We will also talk about some athletes that are sharing the gospel through statements that they
00:00:34.300 are making. Lots to celebrate on today's episode of Relatable. It's brought to you by our friends

00:00:53.760 Hey guys, welcome to Relatable. Happy Monday. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day,
00:00:58.540 a great start to your week. It is a great day to do the next right thing in faith with excellence
00:01:04.380 and for the glory of God. I love what Elizabeth Elliott said. I heard this in one of her talks
00:01:10.120 one time, not in real life, but over a podcast. And she said, the only thing you have to do today
00:01:19.200 is the will of God. And as I was thinking that, I was wondering, okay, but how does someone know
00:01:28.040 specifically what the will of God is in any given moment? Yes, of course we get to read his will for
00:01:33.980 our lives in the word of God, which is inerrant and authoritative, but a lot of people want to
00:01:40.580 know, but specifically in this moment, what is the will of God? We can discern what is the difference
00:01:46.180 between right and wrong, sin and wickedness, but how do we discern the difference between what is good
00:01:53.760 and what is best? Well, through the power of the Holy Spirit, we simply are responsible to do the
00:01:59.300 next right thing in faith with excellence and for the glory of God. And when we understand that
00:02:05.140 and that Christ gives us the strength to do that and that God promises us wisdom when we ask for it,
00:02:13.020 it really relieves us of the burden of perfection, of thinking that we have to have it all figured out.
00:02:20.920 We get to depend upon the Lord and the strength and the sufficiency and the wisdom that he gives us.
00:02:28.280 And we simply do the next right thing in faith with excellence and for the glory of God. That is
00:02:32.900 the only thing we are obligated to do. The only thing we have the capability of doing in any given
00:02:38.360 moment. And that is the will of God for our lives. And so just start out this week with that knowledge
00:02:45.520 and allow the troubles of tomorrow to take care of themselves. We serve a good God, a loving father,
00:02:54.080 and a wise and faithful shepherd that will sanctify us and will accomplish what he sets out to accomplish
00:03:03.000 in our lives. And we can have joy and hope in that. And really, that is the message of Christmas
00:03:10.860 that God is going to go to any length. He is going to do whatever has to be done to seek and save the
00:03:24.840 lost, to redeem his people. And we get to celebrate that gospel all the time, but especially this time
00:03:32.180 of year, as we celebrate Emmanuel, God with us, that God took the form of a human and not just any human,
00:03:40.720 but first an embryo was worshiped as an infant, was heralded by the kicks of an unborn John the
00:03:49.240 Baptist. And he showed us what it looks like to love, what it looks like to serve. But most of all,
00:03:57.780 he became our righteousness. He became our sacrifice. He died and he rose again, conquering death so that
00:04:05.420 we might be reconciled to a holy God, be forgiven of our sins, become a new creation, and live forever
00:04:12.540 with him. That is the gospel truth that we get to celebrate, especially this time of year, as we
00:04:18.940 reflect in a more concentrated way on what the Advent means and what Christmas means. So just praise God,
00:04:25.360 no matter what is going on in your life, all of these truths that we read in scripture that we've
00:04:31.540 just reminded ourselves of today in this episode so far, all of those things make today worthy of joy
00:04:42.940 and worthy of hope and celebration. Quick pause for our first sponsor for the day, and that is Adele

00:04:58.160 cleanser. I love their essential moisturizing spray, their serums, their Blue Lagoon line smells so good.
00:05:04.840 I love all of their lotions, especially this time of year. Their packaging and their scents are just so
00:05:11.480 festive and fun. This company is the real deal. It's a Christian family-owned company. They are

00:05:52.440 We also have good news happening in the news, unexpected news that we get to celebrate today,
00:06:00.540 and that is that Daniel Penny was found not guilty by a Manhattan jury. They have cleared him of criminal
00:06:09.140 wrongdoing in the death of Jordan Neely on a crowded subway. So some of you may have not
00:06:15.020 been following this story at all. So let me back up and tell you why this is so unexpected and what
00:06:21.540 happened. So in May of 2023, police and witnesses say that Jordan Neely, 30, a homeless street performer,
00:06:29.700 a Michael Jackson impersonator, boarded an F train in Soho, began shouting, throwing things,
00:06:37.300 and making threats. According to Penny and other witnesses, Neely yelled at passengers on the
00:06:42.600 subway saying things like, I don't have food. I don't have a drink. I'm fed up. I don't mind going
00:06:48.560 to jail, getting life in prison. Someone is going to die today. I'm going to die. One woman who was on
00:06:58.180 the train, one witness thanked Daniel Penny for saving her life. Another passenger described this rant
00:07:06.100 as a satanic rant, and many passengers said that Daniel Neely, or Daniel Penny rather, actually kept
00:07:14.980 them safe that day when he put Neely in a chokehold and restrained him. Eventually, Neely ended up
00:07:26.680 dying in police custody. He was actually alive when the police found him, but the police say that they
00:07:33.160 didn't want to resuscitate him. They didn't want to give him mouth to mouth because he was dirty,
00:07:37.800 and they were afraid that he was going to give them some kind of disease. That is very sad, but that is
00:07:46.420 not Daniel Penny's fault. So the fact that he was alive when the police found him, that is very
00:07:53.540 significant. Here is Daniel Penny explaining what happened, SOT 6.
00:07:58.280 I was scared for myself, but I looked around. I saw women and children. He was yelling in their faces
00:08:03.800 saying these threats. I couldn't just sit still. I knew I had to act, and I acted in a way that would
00:08:11.020 protect the other passengers, protect myself, and protect Mr. Neely. I used this hole to restrain
00:08:17.180 him, and I did this by leaving my hand on top of his head to control his body. You can see in the video
00:08:23.480 there's a clear rise and fall of his chest indicating that he was still breathing, and I'm calibrating my
00:08:28.600 grip based on the force that he's exerting. I was trying to keep him on the ground until the police
00:08:38.400 came. I was praying that the police would come and take this situation over. I didn't want to be put in
00:08:44.680 that situation, but I couldn't just sit still and let him carry out these threats.
00:08:51.900 You know, I say good for him, and we'll put up the picture that went viral after this. He is a former Marine,
00:08:58.960 and he showed courage that most people in this situation simply wouldn't have shown, and the process
00:09:06.100 that he's had to go through for a year and a half now shows exactly why most people in this situation
00:09:12.340 wouldn't have done anything. We've all seen videos go viral on acts where a young woman is being either
00:09:19.240 sexually assaulted, is being sexually harassed, and the men around them do absolutely nothing,
00:09:27.380 either because they're cowards, they don't want to be inconvenienced, or because they know something
00:09:32.460 like this is going to happen to them, especially if you have a Black suspect. That's just the case.
00:09:40.000 When you've got a white person and a Black person and the white person even just appears like the
00:09:47.200 aggressor, you know that you are going to lose in the media. You know that you're going to lose in
00:09:53.780 the court of public opinion. You know that the activists, especially in a liberal area, are going
00:10:00.620 to be against you. You know that there is going to be a progressive DA that tries to ruin your life,
00:10:06.880 a progressive prosecutor that is going to be out to get you. There's more than likely going to be a
00:10:12.240 progressive judge that is going to rule against you, and that was the fear in this case. And that's
00:10:21.160 how it looked up until today when the verdict came out, that there was just too much against Daniel
00:10:28.360 Penny simply because of the color of his skin. So the jury was made up of five men, seven women.
00:10:36.800 They acquitted Penny of criminally negligent homicide, which could have put him behind
00:10:41.140 bars for up to four years in Neely's death. The manslaughter charge, which was the top charge
00:10:48.400 against Penny, was actually tossed on Friday. We'll talk a little bit more about the significance of that
00:10:52.880 and how that was scary when we were looking at what the verdict of this case would be.
00:10:59.920 But jurors ultimately sided with Penny's defense attorneys. They argue that the Marine veteran
00:11:04.120 was justified in rushing to protect his fellow subway passengers when he subdued the erratic homeless man.
00:11:12.320 Jurors heard from more than 40 witnesses, including passengers who described Neely's terrifying
00:11:17.320 outburst on the train before Penny approached him from behind and took him down. Prosecutors argued
00:11:24.420 that, okay, even if Penny did need to restrain him in the moment, even if he was justified for that,
00:11:30.780 he ended up going too far by restraining him for far too long. But obviously that was not convincing
00:11:38.300 to the jury. Again, this was very surprising when you look at who the judge was. The judge,
00:11:46.780 his name was Maxwell Wiley, and he has a history of progressivism. Throughout the trial, he allowed
00:11:56.340 the prosecution to refer to Penny as the white man in front of the jury. And the prosecution, of course,
00:12:04.000 knows exactly what they're doing. Anyone who is a little bit social justice minded, who is even a
00:12:10.340 little bit progressive, which of course in the city of Manhattan, probably everyone on the jury was,
00:12:17.120 that that is going to indicate to them that Daniel Penny is the aggressor and is the oppressor and is
00:12:24.680 guilty simply because of the color of his skin. I mean, talk about institutional and systemic racism.
00:12:29.760 By the way, that is literally the institution, the system being blatantly racist and discriminatory
00:12:36.600 against someone simply because of the amount of melanin that they have in their skin. That is
00:12:41.500 partiality. That is the definition of injustice. Anyone who has Micah 6-8 in their bio should be
00:12:48.880 absolutely reeling about that. If we really care about impartial justice, if we really care about due
00:12:56.480 process, if we really want our justice system to operate in integrity and honor, we should absolutely
00:13:03.400 be disgusted, should be aghast that that kind of language, that kind of demonization of a person
00:13:11.600 because of the color of their skin is allowed in a court of law. Judge Wiley was also accused of
00:13:18.940 handing the prosecution an outrageous gift, this is according to the New York Post, by granting the
00:13:24.080 request to drop the count of manslaughter in the second degree on which jurors were deadlocked.
00:13:29.700 They couldn't agree on that. And then telling them to only consider the lesser charge of criminally
00:13:34.800 negligent homicide. The second charge was only to be considered if the jury acquitted Penny on the first
00:13:41.040 charge. Under clear New York law, DAs must choose the charges before trial. They don't get to change
00:13:47.160 their minds once they learn what the jury will buy. And so that's why that was also an injustice. A judge
00:13:54.700 shouldn't be able to say, oh, you can't decide on that. Just go to the next one. Because if they can't
00:14:01.500 decide on the first charge, then that could potentially be good or could have been good for
00:14:07.460 Daniel Penny. But you don't get to say, okay, let's just make sure we get them. And if the next charge is
00:14:12.520 more convincing to you, then just go to that one as long as you get them. That's what he seemed to be
00:14:18.180 saying by allowing the jury to just throw out that charge and then go to the next one. Also, if you look
00:14:25.280 at the prosecutor, she is also a progressive. Daphna Yoran, the investigation and prosecution were handled
00:14:33.940 by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office. That's led by Alvin Bragg. He appointed an assistant
00:14:41.060 Manhattan DA Daphna Yoran as the lead prosecutor. You remember Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. He is the guy
00:14:48.640 that downgraded 60% of all felony cases to lesser charges last year. He reduced 938 of the most
00:14:55.900 serious charges in 2023, 834 of which were brought down to misdemeanors. Since being sworn in on January
00:15:05.560 1st, 2022, Bragg has also declined to prosecute 14% of all arrests. So he is very soft on crime.
00:15:14.000 He is largely responsible for the uptick in violent crime in Manhattan. That's what soft on crime
00:15:21.880 policies do. This prosecutor, Daphna Yoran, in 2019, she asked for reduced punishment for Matthew Lee,
00:15:32.680 a 57-year-old who snuck up on a former professor, Dr. Kun Kim, who was 87 years old, killed him over
00:15:43.300 $300 with a fatal blow to the head. So this vicious murderer, she had compassion for him.
00:15:51.680 So Lee was charged with manslaughter instead of felony murder after he agreed to meet with the
00:15:56.360 victim's family and both parties consented to the outcome. This reduced his potential sentence from 25
00:16:01.700 years to 10 years. And this all happened because she said this, when I got the time, I took the time
00:16:09.760 to learn about the defendant. So this vicious murder, I really felt incredibly sorry for him
00:16:14.860 that he had gotten to the point in his life where he felt that there was no choice but to commit
00:16:20.500 this robbery. So that is social justice. You look at someone, you consider their past,
00:16:26.620 you consider their skin color. So lady justice is no longer blind, but you're considering all of these
00:16:33.700 factors that, according to your own bias, should reduce the punishment for a crime rather than just
00:16:41.780 looking at the facts of the case and acting impartially. That is not actual justice because
00:16:48.120 actual justice must be impartial. It must be blind. It must be direct. It must be proportionate.
00:16:54.500 It must be truthful. It can't weigh all of these different aspects of someone's past or someone's
00:17:01.160 life and suggest a verdict or suggest a sentencing based on those things. Again, that is not actual
00:17:09.580 justice, but that is who she is. She is an activist at heart. She doesn't actually care about the truth
00:17:15.920 of the matter. She cares about intersectionality. And so that's, of course, why we were worried going
00:17:21.880 into this case. She maintained a confrontational attitude towards Penny during his trial with
00:17:27.180 witnesses. Uh, she has brought to the stand referring to him again as the white man and as the murderer,
00:17:33.880 uh, which of course the judge Maxwell Wiley, uh, allowed.
00:17:39.760 I'm rocking my Carly Jean Los Angeles sweatshirt, my new one. I love all of my stuff from CJLA
00:17:50.680 so much. Unless I'm wearing my merch, you will almost always find me wearing CJLA on their jeans,
00:17:57.940 their tops, their jackets, their sweaters. I truly love it all. And I love Carly and Chad who own this
00:18:05.180 company, another Christian family owned company who you can trust, uh, aligns with our values.
00:18:12.440 So many women's clothing companies today are actually using our dollars to donate to Planned
00:18:17.840 Parenthood, to pro abortion, anti law enforcement organizations and politicians. You don't have to
00:18:25.640 worry about that with CJLA. They are Christian. They love America and they just make awesome clothes for
00:18:31.420 every stage of life, every season of the year. I love it so much. If you use my code AllieB30,

00:18:47.440 As is typical for social justice activists, there has been an attempt at mob justice. This is the same
00:18:53.100 thing that happened to Derek Chauvin rather than just looking at the facts of the case, what really
00:18:57.380 happened. Like for example, that George Floyd had lethal levels of fentanyl in his body and that it
00:19:04.380 actually looks like Derek Chauvin's knee was on his back, on his shoulder blade and not on his neck.
00:19:11.560 Activists want mob justice. They want the person to be punished because again, of the color of their
00:19:17.260 skin, because of the station in life, because of how things look, because certain verdicts are
00:19:23.140 politically expedient. The same kind of thing was happening here. That is, of course, what BLM does.
00:19:29.460 BLM doesn't care about justice at all. They just care about their desired outcome. They care about
00:19:34.940 retribution. In the immediate aftermath of Neely's death, liberal outlets released think pieces
00:19:39.960 proclaiming that he was killed for the crime of being hungry and unhoused. BLM activists called Neely's
00:19:46.600 killing an example of white supremacy. There were subway signs that said a man was lynched.
00:19:53.140 Here, so lynched, that is so disrespectful, insanely disrespectful to people throughout history who
00:19:59.880 were actually lynched because of the color of their skin. There is no indication, there is no proof that
00:20:05.560 Daniel Penny targeted this person because of the color of his skin. It didn't have anything to do
00:20:10.580 with that. By the way, there's no evidence that Derek Chauvin kneeled on George Floyd because of the
00:20:16.180 color of his skin. And everyone just jumped on this idea that George Floyd was killed because he was
00:20:21.560 black. There is no proof of that whatsoever. There's no indication of that. There's no justification
00:20:26.280 for George Floyd or Jordan Neely to be hailed as some kind of hero. I'm not saying that Derek Chauvin
00:20:34.280 was a hero either, but the way that the world reacted to that incident was completely disconnected
00:20:43.200 from reality. The way that it was used to then push policy, which has actually been extremely harmful
00:20:50.760 to black communities, like defunding the police, which has allowed a boom in violent crime, which
00:20:57.680 disproportionately affects black Americans. I mean, it is a huge blight on American history. And the fact
00:21:04.240 that any evangelical went along with that nonsense and couldn't think for one second, hang on.
00:21:09.700 Is this true, first of all? And is this a real biblical call for justice? Or is this a call for
00:21:18.700 something else, for something actually nefarious? We had a lot of people who just suspended biblical
00:21:25.620 wisdom, suspended judgment during that time. But it does seem like things have shifted a lot,
00:21:31.520 because I think if what happened to Jordan Neely happened four years ago, we would have seen a
00:21:38.040 different verdict, which is actually very sad because verdicts should not depend upon the cultural
00:21:42.900 moment. It should not depend upon social media outrage. It shouldn't depend upon protests or how
00:21:48.860 loud one side is. It should only depend upon the facts of a case. And yet there was chanting outside of
00:21:57.760 the courtroom. There were BLM activists who were calling him a murderer, calling him a subway strangler.
00:22:04.900 And of course, it's Manhattan. A fear that a lot of us had was that these protests were going to affect
00:22:13.000 the jurors, that the jurors were going to be intimidated. They were going to be too scared to
00:22:17.460 say that he was not guilty. And they were going to act upon that fear of intimidation rather than
00:22:23.840 the facts at hand. After the judge dropped the manslaughter charges against Penny, so that was last week,
00:22:30.820 one of the co-founders of Black Lives Matter Greater New York spoke outside of the courthouse saying that
00:22:36.580 Daniel Penny's trial is no different than Jim Crow and that they will not find a white man guilty of
00:22:42.800 killing a black man in modern day America. That is literally insane. That is insane. Again, no connection
00:22:53.940 to reality whatsoever. I mean, as we have already articulated, Daniel Penny was the underdog in this
00:23:01.460 case. The fact that the prosecution and their witnesses were allowed to refer to him as a murderer
00:23:06.240 and as a white man, you would have never been able to get away with that if it were the other direction,
00:23:14.500 if it were referring to someone as the black man in order to put this idea
00:23:20.420 America in the jury's minds that because someone has a darker color of skin, they're automatically
00:23:26.260 guilty. Here's thought seven. America has not changed. And I hate to say it, it may never change.
00:23:33.400 And people who keep asking, are we going to riot? Are we going to protest? Is that what's needed?
00:23:38.920 Do glass have to break? Do cars have to burn for a black man to get justice in America?
00:23:44.120 America. We can't show up with peace. We can't show up with facts. We can't show up with evidence
00:23:49.200 and witness after witness. You give us nothing. And then you ask us to love this country.
00:23:56.120 America hates black people. And we see it from that jury pool.
00:24:01.720 That is, that is again, literally so stupid. That has no foundation in reality whatsoever.
00:24:09.360 Okay. There is absolutely no evidence that there is systemic favoritism towards white people when it
00:24:20.080 comes to the criminal justice system today. I'm not saying that has never been the case,
00:24:24.480 but there is no indication that that is the case today. And in fact, we have a lot of evidence that
00:24:30.920 shows the opposite. Like you're really telling me that this progressive judge, this progressive
00:24:36.160 DA, this progressive prosecutor, what was very likely a progressive jury, that they all hate black
00:24:44.760 people. And that is why we got the verdict that we did. You know that that's not the case. The fact
00:24:53.120 of the matter is the evidence must have been so overwhelming that the jury overcame their own
00:25:00.000 biases overcame their own personal fears, their fear of retribution, their ideas about politics,
00:25:11.640 their thoughts about systemic racism or oppression of white people or of black people at the hands of
00:25:21.280 white people to come to an objectively right conclusion. That is justice.
00:25:30.000 Justice is not defined by outcomes per se. It is defined by the process. And BLM and all
00:25:41.840 social justice activists only look at the outcome. And if the outcome is what they want, they say that
00:25:49.680 that is justice, no matter how they got there. So if it's by mob justice, if it's by some kind of
00:25:56.360 malicious retribution, as long as the black person ends up on top, they call that justice. But that's
00:26:04.300 not real justice. After Penny was acquitted, that same BLM activist had this to say, Sot 8.
00:26:11.240 And in my Bible, thou shall not kill. In the Torah, thou shall not kill. My heart bleeds for the Neely
00:26:20.120 family. My heart bleeds for his father who sat in front of me every single day and prayed for justice
00:26:26.820 for his son. These wonderful white people, I hope they celebrate their Christmas while the Neely family
00:26:32.600 is praying and asking God for comfort. I'm them and give them America.
00:26:41.160 My goodness. Okay, well, here is another BLM activist calling for black vigilantes to fight
00:26:48.580 against oppression, Sot 9. We need some black vigilantes. That's right. People want to jump up
00:26:56.560 and choke us and kill us for being loud. How about we do the same when they attempt to oppress us?
00:27:08.140 I'm tired. Tired. That is, again, just absolutely ridiculous. And it is so hard to respond to.
00:27:15.620 Look, Jordan Neely was born in the image of God. I mean, he was made in the image of God. Of course,
00:27:22.700 his life mattered. And the outcome of his life is really sad. But how he got there is also really sad.
00:27:33.160 That is not Daniel Penny's fault. I think that we all know, like white or black, that we would rather
00:27:40.860 be in a train car with Daniel Penny than Jordan Neely. And we all hope that if we are in a situation
00:27:48.880 where we feel threatened and there is an erratic person who is threatening our lives or the lives of our
00:27:55.740 children, that someone like Daniel Penny with that kind of courage and that kind of boldness
00:28:02.000 is in the same space with us. And you're joking yourself if you say otherwise. We all know if we
00:28:13.220 are in that situation, we want to see that kind of heroism. But here these activists are not only
00:28:19.880 saying that this is wrong, that it was wrong that he defended his fellow subway passengers, but that
00:28:26.840 there should actually be some kind of violent retribution for that. Again, there is just no evidence
00:28:35.260 that the oppression of black people in the United States is because of white supremacy or because of
00:28:42.260 white people at all. Like we can talk about the problems that are facing the black communities, why so
00:28:49.320 many disparities exist? The first place you should look is not white people, is not white supremacy,
00:28:57.700 is not even in modern America today, the criminal justice system. Like if we look at specifically
00:29:04.800 Jordan Neely's life, if we look at his dad and what he is trying to do to make bank off of his
00:29:18.740 child's death, I think we get a pretty good idea of why Jordan ended up the way he was, which is very sad.
00:29:35.380 I've been talking to y'all about We Heart Nutrition for a while now. I started taking their women's
00:29:40.520 supplements at the beginning of this year and a year later. I gotta tell you, I feel really good. Like my
00:29:47.900 iron levels are amazing. I had a baby last year and yet I didn't go through postpartum hair loss,
00:29:54.440 or at least I didn't notice. And I really think it's because I switched to We Heart Nutrition,
00:29:59.260 all of their ingredients come in the most bioavailable form. That means your body is
00:30:03.120 actually absorbing it. I take their postnatal vitamins. I take their omega-3s. I take their
00:30:09.160 iron supplement, their magnesium. My mom also takes their supplements for women over 50. I think
00:30:16.760 that's been really great for her health too. You can take their 20-second quiz, see which supplement
00:30:21.860 regimen is right for you. And if you use my code, Allie, weheartnutrition.com, you get 20% off your
00:30:29.240 order, which is a really good deal. Weheartnutrition.com, code Allie.
00:30:33.500 On Wednesday, December 4th, Jordan Ely's father, Andre Zachary, filed a civil suit in the New York
00:30:43.140 Supreme Court against Daniel Penny, which of course, a lot of people are afraid this is going to be the
00:30:47.300 outcome of Daniel Penny. They're saying, get out of New York, go take refuge in a red state. They're
00:30:52.680 still going to try to ruin your life and absolutely bankrupt you. But his father, Jordan Ely's father,
00:30:58.580 is accusing him of negligence, assault, and battery. So he's trying to get money out of
00:31:04.640 Daniel Penny. That's what he's doing. Now, why is this so egregious? Is this just a sad father
00:31:09.840 who is seeking some kind of justice, some kind of recompense for his precious son as the BLM
00:31:18.800 activist indicated? No, of course not. This is a derelict father who wanted nothing to do with his son for
00:31:26.100 his entire life, who abandoned him and is now seeking to make money off of his death. According
00:31:34.660 to The Guardian, Neely's mother was killed by his stepfather in 2007 when he was 14. He bounced
00:31:41.660 between homes before ending up in the foster care system. According to some relatives, Neely had autism
00:31:47.300 and schizophrenia and later developed severe depression and PTSD. He was reportedly abandoned
00:31:55.520 by his father as a young age. Again, was raised by his mother and stepfather, but that ended in tragedy
00:32:02.320 too. At any point in life, it seems to me the father could have stepped in and could have been
00:32:10.160 present in his son's life. Who knows what the outcome of his life could have been if he had had a father
00:32:16.440 who before now had stepped up and taken care of him. But now, only when it is financially expedient for
00:32:23.200 him, only when he can capitalize upon his son's tragic death is he saying, oh, hey guys, I'm present. I'm
00:32:31.760 here. So if we want to look at why Jordan very sadly ended up where he did, we can look at his family.
00:32:40.260 We can look at his dad. It is a cop-out to say this has to do with some kind of intangible
00:32:48.180 specter of white supremacy out there that somehow killed him. That's simply not the case. It's not
00:32:56.420 what happened. Here is his father saying this was rigged. Sotten.
00:33:00.740 What are we going to do, people? What's going to happen to us now?
00:33:10.020 I had enough of this. The system is rigged.
00:33:13.300 Mm-hmm.
00:33:17.140 Come on, people.
00:33:21.000 Let's do something about this.
00:33:22.600 I mean, these kinds of lies, this view of the world and of justice, this refusal to take
00:33:37.300 responsibility, to see things as they are, to only see things through the lens of white skin
00:33:43.520 black skin. It is such a cancer to any community, to any group of people. And these race hustlers
00:33:53.220 who want to make a buck off of the death of an image bearer of God, you cannot convince me
00:34:00.120 that they care about this young man, that they actually care about the loss of black life.
00:34:07.420 I'm sorry. I mean, maybe somewhere deep down they do, but I think that BLM itself has
00:34:14.180 revealed that it's really just a grifting organization that wants to make money when a
00:34:22.140 black person died, that they dies, that they really just want political power. I don't really think that
00:34:28.120 they care about helping people. I mean, these are, these are the same people, the same progressives
00:34:34.020 that will celebrate an abortion, will ignore black on black crime, but only pipe up about
00:34:41.000 injustice when a white person harms a black person, whether it is justified or not. You're not going to
00:34:48.600 convince me that those people really believe in justice. And one thing that I meant to say was that
00:34:53.440 BLM activist who said, my Bible says, do not kill. That's not what the Bible says. The Bible says,
00:34:59.000 thou shall not murder. And not all killing is murder. Self-defense is not murder.
00:35:07.680 War is not considered murder, at least according to the God of the Bible who invented justice. Of
00:35:13.960 course, there are, of course, war crimes that are not justified. But there are certain kinds of
00:35:20.380 killing that are not murdered. The death penalty is not murder, according to the God who commanded the
00:35:26.100 death penalty for murder and who created justice and who is the source of truth and who is in himself
00:35:33.520 love. And so it is simply not true to say that all forms of killing should demand the same kind of
00:35:43.540 outcome and the same kind of verdict and the same kind of sentencing. I do think this was the correct
00:35:48.920 verdict. And I think courage should be rewarded. I think masculinity should be rewarded. This is a
00:35:54.800 unique kind of boldness that seems like a relic of the past. We want men, black or white, no matter what
00:36:00.720 their background is, to have an instinct to stand up for the most vulnerable and to take action when
00:36:08.400 danger presents itself. We don't want people who are eager to kill someone. Of course, we want people
00:36:15.140 who believe and honor the dignity of image bearers. I don't want Jordan Neely to have died. I want him to
00:36:23.120 still be alive. But he had a long criminal record of assaulting the dignity of human beings. He broke the
00:36:33.880 face of an elderly woman by assaulting her. And a man finally stepped up and protected other people
00:36:42.000 from becoming Jordan Neely's victims. And so this verdict was cracked. And I just want to finish this
00:36:48.000 segment by reading you the difference. This is from my book, Toxic Empathy and Social Justice and
00:36:53.180 Justice. We have a whole chapter on this, which is certainly the most controversial chapter in my book,
00:36:58.760 I think. It's all controversial. Social justice is not justice. That's not only because it harms those
00:37:04.700 that pretends to help. And it's not only because it's supported by philosophical and statistical errors.
00:37:10.600 It's not justice because it is evil. It is the opposite of what God calls justice. Proverbs 20.10
00:37:16.700 tells us unequal weights and unequal measures are both alike an abomination to the Lord.
00:37:22.200 In God's law giving to ancient Israel, he prohibits favoritism even to the poor.
00:37:27.000 You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great,
00:37:32.280 but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor. Showing partiality is a perversion of
00:37:37.420 justice that God disdains. God himself shows no partiality and we are to follow his example.
00:37:43.560 And I include all the biblical references there. Just as mistreating someone because they're black
00:37:47.920 is wicked, so is mistreating someone because they're white or because they're deemed privileged.
00:37:53.340 God doesn't see one form of mistreatment as less abominable than the other. And then we go on to
00:38:03.320 define what true justice actually is, which is proportionate, which is truthful, which is direct,
00:38:10.540 which is impartial. And social justice, of course, is none of those things. Social justice is typically
00:38:19.900 defined as the fair and compassionate distribution of the fruits of economic growth. But of course,
00:38:26.000 it is morphed into something much more far-reaching that basically always says that the white,
00:38:32.120 straight, quote-unquote, cis male is on the side of oppression and that everyone else is at least
00:38:38.520 somewhat a victim. When you see every case and every crime through that lens, that makes it impossible
00:38:45.680 to discern what is actually true, what is actually right, and what is actually good. All right, we might
00:38:53.860 have more on that in the coming days, but we are praising God for justice. We pray for the protection
00:38:59.640 of Daniel Penny in this case, and we also pray against any acts of vigilantism or retribution.
00:39:07.160 It should be good news to black or white people that our justice system, even in progressive Manhattan,
00:39:12.540 does work. This is the fruit of due process. While our justice system is very imperfect, it is the
00:39:19.220 greatest ever constructed in the history of the world. And it is based on the biblical principles that
00:39:25.860 we read in God's law giving to Israel. Lady justice should, must remain blind. That is a benefit to
00:39:34.260 all of us. Again, no matter what our background is, no matter what our color is. So no matter who you
00:39:40.080 are, we should be praising God for that. Okay, it is time for you to switch to Every Life Diapers. You might
00:39:50.380 not know this, but the diapers that you're using are probably donating to pro-abortion causes, which is
00:39:57.460 really like sickly ironic. You would think that every diaper company would be pro-life. Unfortunately,
00:40:03.400 that's not true. Every Life is the only diaper company I know that is fully unapologetically
00:40:09.160 pro-life. They partner with pregnancy centers across the country to get pregnant moms choosing life,
00:40:14.700 the resources that they need to make that transition into motherhood even easier for them.
00:40:20.500 They are supporting all of their pregnant and adopting employees, making sure that they have
00:40:25.100 the time off, the resources that they need. Plus they make really great diapers with all clean
00:40:30.680 ingredients. These are the diapers that we use in our house and they really do work. I love Every Life.
00:40:36.960 Go to everylife.com, use code Allie10. You'll get 10% off when you do. Everylife.com, code Allie10.
00:40:44.700 All right. We're going to move on to the next thing. I do just want to remind you guys
00:40:51.960 of some really fun news. And that is that we've got a new episode of Relatable at Home available
00:41:00.280 to Blaze TV subscribers. It is out right now, The Theology of Hospitality with Abby Kirkendall.
00:41:07.300 She is showing us how to make a really simple bread and that's beer bread. And it is so good,
00:41:13.300 you guys. Like we really did mix it all together. We ate the finished product and it was amazing.
00:41:20.680 But we also just have this really deep and edifying conversation about hospitality. And every season
00:41:26.480 of life, whether you're single, whether you're a mom of five, it doesn't matter. We are all called to
00:41:31.360 generosity and invitation. And things don't have to be perfect in their presentation for us to
00:41:37.760 accept that call of invitation and generosity and hospitality. And so go to blazetv.com slash Allie,
00:41:45.140 sign up. You get access to not only all of my subscriber exclusive content, but all subscriber
00:41:52.600 exclusive content for Blaze TV. And also we will have some fun stuff, some exclusive stuff to subscribers
00:42:04.020 when it comes to Share the Arrows 2025. You will get some definite perks when it comes to ticket sales,
00:42:10.480 when it comes to merch, when it comes to what you have access to, when it comes to discounts.
00:42:15.240 I will have more on Share the Arrows 2025 coming up soon. All right. We don't have time to get into
00:42:21.280 the Daystar updates today. I promise you that we will because there are updates on it, but we just don't
00:42:27.680 have time for two like very long and detailed stories on today's episode. So we're going to end
00:42:33.540 with some more lighthearted stuff and some encouraging stuff. Well, it's like, it's kind of
00:42:39.780 sad a little bit, but it's also encouraging. And that is the courage of an athlete, a soccer player,
00:42:47.300 or as our friends across the pond would say, a football player wearing a Jesus loves you
00:42:53.620 armband, despite the warning that he was given to not wear something like this. And so last week,
00:43:01.380 Crystal Palace, it's a professional soccer club based in South London that competes in the Premier
00:43:07.080 League, the top tier of English soccer defender, Mark Gaye. I think that's how you pronounce his last
00:43:13.020 name. He wrote, I love you, Jesus on the armband. And in a second game, Jesus loves you. This is his
00:43:20.800 league issued rainbow colored captain's armband. He was given a warning that writing that on his
00:43:27.880 rainbow colored armband went against the England's football, England's football association's rules
00:43:35.260 for religious slogans. So more details on this during 13th and the 14th match weeks of the Premier
00:43:41.700 League season, the league partners with Scottish LGBT charity Stonewall for rainbow laces, a campaign to
00:43:49.860 promote LGBT acceptance in soccer. So that's all fine, which that is a sort of religion. It's
00:43:56.880 certainly an ideology that not everyone subscribes to. And so they're forced to promote that. But you
00:44:02.020 can't say something as simple as Jesus loves you without violating their rules. Huh? The league provides
00:44:07.840 all 20 Premier League clubs with rainbow corner flags and other equipment, most notably club captains
00:44:15.840 during these games are given the option to wear a rainbow colored armband, which they're technically
00:44:20.680 free to decline, that they are encouraged not to decline. It's unclear how much pressure is put on
00:44:25.420 them to comply. And so this player could have just said, no, I'm not going to, which could have made a
00:44:32.780 statement. But he decided during the team's November 30th match against Newcastle United, Gaye chose to wear
00:44:39.000 the rainbow armband, but wrote, I love Jesus on, on it in marker and the team's following game
00:44:48.540 on December 3rd, he wrote again, Jesus loves you. And so of course the football association was very
00:44:57.560 upset by this. After the second time Gaye wrote the phrase on December 3rd, the league issued a formal
00:45:04.000 warning and yet another reminder of the rules. So the league is saying right now they're not going
00:45:10.260 to take formal action. They might because he's a devout Christian. So the fact that he put this over
00:45:17.100 the rainbow armband, they're saying that could be seen as hateful. During the second game, midfielder
00:45:24.880 Sam Morsi, who was a practicing Muslim, was the only player who refused to wear the rainbow armband.
00:45:30.780 He instead wore the usual black version. ESPN says the football association considered Morsi's
00:45:37.580 decision to be a matter for the club than the individual and does not contravene any uniform
00:45:42.780 regulation. So it'll be very interesting to see if they are even handed in how they treat the players
00:45:50.600 and the reasons for the players not using the rainbow armbands. Gaye responded to this controversy.
00:45:58.160 He said, I think the message was pretty clear to be honest. It was a message of love and truth as
00:46:02.080 well and a message of inclusivity. So I think it speaks for itself. I believe 100% in the words
00:46:07.540 that I wrote. Even what I've just said right now, it's a message of truth and love. And I hope people
00:46:11.800 can understand that my faith is my faith and I'll stand by it for the rest of my life. So good for him.
00:46:18.540 His father also had something to say. His father spoke to the Daily Mail. If you look at the LGBT community,
00:46:23.880 if you look at what they're doing, they're trying to impose on others what they believe in. It's
00:46:28.240 belief against belief. But at the end of the day, everyone has the right to an opinion. He didn't
00:46:32.500 refuse to wear that armband like Morsi did. People should pay more attention to the person who
00:46:37.140 refused to wear it. Mark said yes and did the right thing. He accepted to wear the armband.
00:46:44.300 He was just trying to balance the message. He was saying, you gave me the armband as a Christian.
00:46:48.400 I don't believe in your cause, but I will put it on. But Morsi didn't put it on. Honestly,
00:46:53.420 I think it's fine not to put it on too. I don't think it was necessarily the more right thing to
00:46:58.720 put it on and say Jesus loves you. I think it would have been fine not to wear it.
00:47:03.120 The Football Association are happy for the crowd to sing God Save the King when England plays,
00:47:07.300 which mentions God and religion. And they're happy to have their religious hymn abide with me
00:47:11.160 during the final. Yet, they have to go at my son for expressing his beliefs. Where's the sense in
00:47:20.280 that? What has he done wrong? I think that good for him. I think that he showed courage in that.
00:47:27.220 And obviously, it got people talking about that message. And the word of God does not return void.
00:47:32.460 John 3.16 is true that God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever
00:47:37.880 ever believes in him will not perish, but will have everlasting life. And that message was conveyed.
00:47:43.400 People are talking about it. And so I believe that God can use this for his glory. Yes and amen. So
00:47:48.280 good for this soccer player for deciding to speak up in this way.
00:47:57.780 Last sponsor for the day is Jace Medical. We just don't know what the future holds. And we don't want
00:48:03.020 to be paranoid. We don't want to be anxious about that. But we do want to be wise and be prepared
00:48:07.860 There are a lot of ways that we can prepare for the unknowns of the future. One way is to make sure
00:48:12.920 you have an emergency medical supply. And so if you get the Jace case from Jace Medical, it comes with
00:48:20.400 life-saving antibiotics that you might need in case of a bacterial infection. For whatever reason,
00:48:26.200 the supply chain is shot. You can't get to your doctor. You can't get to your pharmacy. You need this
00:48:30.720 kind of thing on hand. You can also add things like an EpiPen or Ivermectin. We all know that can be
00:48:36.740 hard to get or Tamiflu. All of these things can be life-saving, a game-changer for you. Or you can
00:48:43.500 get their Jace Daily Kit, which is a year-long supply of the prescriptions that you and your
00:48:48.380 family rely on. So go to Jace.com. Use code Allie. You'll get a discount on your order when you do.
00:48:53.800 That is Jace.com, code Allie.
00:48:56.120 And then we've got another, we've got a coach this time, another person in the athletic realm,
00:49:06.700 this time from Boise State on this side of the pond, speaking up for the truth of the gospel
00:49:12.100 after a game. Here's top four.
00:49:14.620 Thank you, Jesus. And
00:49:17.480 I mean, Jesus deserves all the glory. I mean, we serve a champion. He died on the cross,
00:49:27.260 but he rose again three days later. That's the God I serve, man. Everything's possible.
00:49:31.780 And our players, they don't run from hard work. They just keep swinging, keep swinging, keep swinging.
00:49:36.820 That's uncommon. They deserve the credit. Jesus deserves the credit. We've got the best staff
00:49:41.080 in the nation, and we've got the best fan base in the nation, too. Bronco Nation undefeated.
00:49:45.360 I love that. That was so clear and so pointed. He didn't have to do that. He could have,
00:49:50.640 if he wanted to, just said something vague about God, but he decided to
00:49:54.020 share what the Christian faith hinges on, and that is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
00:49:59.660 That's what validates Christianity. If we don't have the resurrection, we don't have faith in anything.
00:50:05.080 And he went up there, and he articulated that, and I'm just so grateful for that. He's also
00:50:09.340 making an impact on his team. I didn't know this. I'm sure a lot of you did, especially those of you
00:50:13.760 who are fans of Boise State, but he actually baptized running back and Heisman Trophy candidate
00:50:19.900 Ashton G&T back in August. Here's South 5.
00:50:24.280 Good morning. I'm about to go get baptized today.
00:50:27.140 So, Lord, I thank you, Lord, the obedient hearts that are sitting in this room.
00:50:35.580 And I thank you, Lord, that this is going to be a point of separation, Lord, from the old
00:50:38.740 passage of Jesus.
00:50:39.440 I love that. There are a lot of reasons today to be praising God. Yes, there's some sadness and
00:51:06.960 some craziness going on in the world, absolutely. And we'll be talking about some of that later
00:51:12.400 this week. But honestly, today, there are things to celebrate. We get to celebrate a good verdict.
00:51:20.000 We get to celebrate the courage of athletes, which I think is just like a microcosm of what seems to be
00:51:25.740 happening at the college level throughout the country. I think that we are seeing among the
00:51:32.240 younger generation a sort of awakening, a sort of revival, and every bit of courage counts. Every
00:51:40.020 bit of sharing the gospel, of speaking the truth in love counts. And again, we just see over and over
00:51:45.680 again God's great mercy. It seems like our culture has gone to hell in a handbasket, but I see so many
00:51:51.720 reminders that God's eternal plan of redemption is still going off without a hitch. I still see reminders
00:51:56.700 that the beauty of Western civilization in many cases is still holding. And that happens because
00:52:03.620 of the efforts and the courage of Christians to raise a respectful ruckus about the things that
00:52:09.900 matter. So never think that what you are contributing to the kingdom or to this country, that they don't
00:52:17.920 matter. God works all things together for the good of those who love him. And that's not to conflate
00:52:24.480 our politics or our political movements with the gospel or with our Christian faith. Those things do
00:52:32.620 go hand in hand because they have to. I'm not saying those things are the same. I'm simply saying that
00:52:38.540 whatever we do for good causes that are bigger than ourselves do contribute to the preservation of
00:52:49.240 a country that we love and that we want to survive and thrive for our children and our grandchildren.
00:52:58.140 And our faith absolutely plays a role in that. All right. That's all we got time for today. We will be back
00:53:02.960 here tomorrow.
