well what's your frame of thinking i mean like i'm a practicing quaker uh i think that kind of
00:00:05.720
hangs a lot on how i look at it and we believe in equity and like just uh again that simple
00:00:12.160
premise like a lot of religions have that like world universal love everybody kind of premise
00:00:16.640
the way we kind of look at it is like the light of gods and everybody so therefore i can't punch
00:00:21.960
you to go back to that or you're worth consideration and that uh each every single
00:00:26.440
person on the subway platform is worth fighting for you know what i mean men don't have to just
00:00:29.780
be this we don't have to have just one partner we can be open with ourselves i might be pansexual
00:00:34.100
if i find a partner that's pansexual in the future i'll be very happy about that why because we can
00:00:37.920
all be open about ourselves and that's how it works because in actuality all of these are
00:00:42.300
different circumstances taken on a case-by-case basis if you would have a relationship with a
00:00:46.220
trans person yes i would and why because they're a person person first and foremost trans women are
00:00:52.540
women it's where the table i have to say but you know what they're just women okay they're women
00:00:56.140
trans women are women then you would just say women are women wait right but i don't have to say
00:01:00.560
women are women but i have to give the context the reason why is for example do you know that just
00:01:03.840
yesterday uh july 31st there was a homosexual man that was stabbed in a parking lot for dancing
00:01:09.960
okay he was stabbed in a parking lot for dancing the lgbt community still has problems booby just like
00:01:17.040
the black community still has problems and all the other ones so i don't know if it's clear but i'm a
00:01:20.540
trans woman and quakers have had uh uh trans members since the 1770s so like i wasn't out as
00:01:27.080
trans at the time but i think something subconsciously kind of attracted me to that
00:01:29.840
uh religion and also uh yeah and it's also i like how they practice because like we all just sit in a
00:01:37.540
room and stare at each other in meditation until somebody wants to speak up on what the god has to
00:01:41.180
tell them you know what i mean and uh that's you know like you hear about religious practice was
00:01:45.860
actually a thing you do over and over and over again and i think like having that outlet of that
00:01:50.020
form of meditation especially when that's like not focused towards like what's inside of me but
00:01:53.440
what's like outside for all these people around you uh i think it's just uh helped me in my life when i
00:02:00.480
have a lot of struggles and you know i desire power you know what i mean because i don't get a lot of
00:02:03.880
power in my life as a trans woman you know there are a lot of trans people in quakerism uh yeah there's
00:02:07.800
quite a few trans people in my church uh depends on which um house of worship you go to but uh
00:02:12.900
i can name six quakers who are trans or gender non-conforming so uh and you know outside of you
00:02:22.300
know going to the certain bars in new york city you kind of have a hard time finding more than six
00:02:27.080
trans people in the room at once you know what i mean yeah i i say for the first person to tell you
00:02:33.160
this women are women okay i don't like saying trans women are women because i think it's uncomfortable
00:02:36.420
because trans women want to they they hold out to social performance and the necessary all the
00:02:40.900
necessary aspects of being a woman the feminine the feminine criteria the feminine condition and
00:02:44.560
the feminine ideal that's what it is and for that matter how we understand how gender and sex work
00:02:48.820
in the duality then they are women but was that a trans woman on the in this chair like three people
00:02:53.480
ago pretty manly guy and you know what you know this comes with a transition with that i have to ask
00:02:58.440
you a gotcha type question do you think that kids should be able to have transgender surgeries
00:03:02.260
uh kids are not getting transgender surgeries i would say uh i would defer to what the medical
00:03:08.960
community says and gender affirming care uh a lot of times people uh hear about kids getting access to
00:03:15.960
uh gender affirming health care and they think surgeries because a lot of times people just
00:03:19.760
look at our thing and think like oh it's sexual so immediately they think about the balls or whatever
00:03:23.660
gender affirming care to kids is usually social uh stuff where like they get access to uh like a doctor
00:03:31.500
or they're able to dress in the way that feels right for them and then they get uh um
00:03:36.240
uh puberty blockers to stave off this decision until they're 18 and mature enough to make this
00:03:42.440
decision for themselves so uh yes that's 100 not what i said did i mention the word surgery and
00:03:51.660
should they be able to get surgeries uh i defer to what the medical community says and most of them
00:03:57.460
will say no i mean some kids get top surgery uh they get their breasts removed but also i have plenty
00:04:03.720
of cis women friends who get breast reduction surgery nobody ever gives a shit about that twice
00:04:07.980
right i don't really trust you and this kind of feels like a bullshit thing so go fuck this up
