Summary

The other day we did a great show with James Manson of the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms and we had the lead attorney in the case to stop Ontario s unlawful prorogation. Unfortunately, the volume was down and the audio was not good enough for the whole thing to be heard.

00:00:00.960 Hi, welcome back to another Stand on Guard. So good to see you again.
00:00:07.100 Hopefully we're going to have a smooth show today.
00:00:09.900 It's been, I want to say, the other day we did a great show with the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms.
00:00:18.140 And we had James on for the lead attorney in the case to stop this unlawful prorogation.
00:00:26.920 And unfortunately, my volume was down. I have no idea why. We still don't know why.
00:00:31.600 It might be a driver problem because we went through everything.
00:00:34.420 But if you want to see that show, I'm telling you this now because I'll forget to say it later.
00:00:38.560 And I always do. Have a look in the comments section or in the description.
00:00:45.580 We have a separate broadcast where we raise my sound levels up.
00:00:49.580 You'd want to hear that whole interview as it should have been heard and it should have been aired.
00:00:54.720 It is available. I wanted to mention that.
00:00:56.920 At the beginning here. But we'll be right back.
00:00:59.660 And I really, I can't wait to get into the Pete Hegseth material.
00:01:03.080 But that's going to have to wait until we get through what's happening in Canada.
00:01:07.320 We need a political chain.
00:01:24.480 But we also need to resolve to resist.
00:01:27.320 Okay. Thank you again for joining me.
00:01:38.760 Just a couple of hot pieces of housekeeping here.
00:01:41.580 This is our newest merchandise.
00:01:43.840 And like I said, I'll show it to you now because I'll forget.
00:01:46.460 But yeah, the toques are out, the ball caps and the cup.
00:01:52.160 Yeah, there it is.
00:01:54.160 You can see it on the side here.
00:01:55.600 Yeah, the cup is available.
00:01:57.380 The new mug.
00:01:58.740 These are going to be very popular.
00:02:02.200 I have a feeling.
00:02:03.320 And bumper stickers.
00:02:05.420 Yeah.
00:02:05.700 So, if you want to express your patriotism, here's an opportunity.
00:02:13.060 So, and before I forget, my latest sub stack, of course, was out yesterday.
00:02:19.820 But this is the article about the interview I did with James Manson of the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms,
00:02:37.740 which was a fascinating interview.
00:02:39.520 And I thought I asked some fairly good questions.
00:02:42.460 And unfortunately, nobody really heard them.
00:02:43.920 But we'll, we'll, we'll get back to, we'll get back to normal here.
00:02:51.160 One of the news of the day.
00:02:53.300 Let's get to that first.
00:02:55.200 Because I find this just incredible what's going on here.
00:03:00.220 And I, I should probably play the Doug Ford segment along with this.
00:03:05.260 Because, so the, the, there's a first minister's meeting scheduled for today in Ottawa.
00:03:13.920 And Melanie Jolie is in Washington.
00:03:18.720 And along with Dominique LeBlanc.
00:03:22.700 You know, and these are basically lame ducks.
00:03:25.080 They're not going to even win their seats in the next election.
00:03:28.160 They're not running in the leadership race.
00:03:30.480 They are caretakers of this man's government.
00:03:34.560 Justin Trudeau's last days.
00:03:37.260 So, they're meeting today in Ottawa.
00:03:40.040 And Melanie Jolie, who has no authority, and I said this yesterday,
00:03:43.580 to promise an embargo on Canadian energy.
00:03:47.280 She has no authority to do that.
00:03:49.260 That's ultra-veris.
00:03:50.660 That's against the Constitution.
00:03:52.780 She can't sell Alberta's oil.
00:03:56.120 Or not sell Alberta's oil and gas.
00:03:59.660 Yeah.
00:03:59.880 And thank you to the producer for putting up these, these comments.
00:04:04.100 Yeah.
00:04:04.320 Nice to, thank you for, for a, for a, a kind comment on that.
00:04:09.580 That was a horrible day.
00:04:11.460 You know, you, you have those days where you think, my God, that was a great interview.
00:04:15.720 No idea.
00:04:17.000 And, you know, people say, look at your comments while you're on the air.
00:04:19.980 Well, when you're doing an interview, sometimes it's difficult to go back to the comments
00:04:26.180 because I don't want to look like I'm not listening to my guest and anticipating my next question
00:04:32.260 and being prepared.
00:04:34.160 So, that's, that's what happens sometimes.
00:04:37.140 So, here we go.
00:04:38.680 I love this.
00:04:40.720 You know how much I love to attack Ontario Premier Doug Ford as being what I think aptly described
00:04:49.340 and appropriately described as a faux conservative.
00:04:52.980 In other words, you know, you know, faux leather, you know, faux leather pants.
00:04:56.820 It's not real.
00:04:58.180 You know, it has sort of a look of leather or suede, but it's, it's faux.
00:05:04.800 And there's a lot of antiques or faux antiques.
00:05:07.580 It's not really antiques.
00:05:08.460 They're just made to look that way.
00:05:10.940 And that's what Doug Ford is all about.
00:05:13.380 He's, he is the, the faux conservative in our midst.
00:05:18.060 He loves to pretend he's part of this populist Ford nation.
00:05:23.040 Well, that disappeared during the COVID pandemic, didn't it?
00:05:28.480 That disappeared when Mr. Father, Father Ford of the Ford nation dumped on us all.
00:05:38.060 Said we couldn't even go to the gym.
00:05:40.700 We couldn't even get a haircut.
00:05:42.160 And yeah, you might be allowed to get groceries just because you'd be dead.
00:05:48.140 Otherwise, everything else was bad.
00:05:50.380 Couldn't get a hair.
00:05:50.860 Remember, couldn't even get, yeah, couldn't get a haircut.
00:05:52.520 Remember that?
00:05:53.380 And of course, Ford is pretending, oh, I'm, I'm looking really bushy myself, but I'd love to get a haircut.
00:05:59.100 Of course he was getting a haircut, just like the mayor of Chicago was getting her hair styled every week.
00:06:03.860 And it's, these people are just congruent with their hypocrisy.
00:06:09.800 Now, I think that's a good expression, congruent in their hypocrisy.
00:06:13.200 And that's exactly what they are.
00:06:15.200 So Doug Ford, of course, was always a huge cheerleader for Justin Trudeau.
00:06:19.720 They love to stand together on the stage to make announcements for Trudeau's electric cars or whatever else was popular at the moment.
00:06:27.640 And Doug Ford loved to be there for Justin Trudeau during the invocation of the Emergencies Act.
00:06:34.540 Doug Ford said, great, bring it on, Justin.
00:06:37.580 We love it.
00:06:38.980 Bring on the Emergencies Act.
00:06:40.780 This is good for Ontario.
00:06:43.820 And that's all Doug Ford is ever concerned about.
00:06:46.140 If he thinks it's good for Doug Ford, then bring it on, Justin.
00:06:51.120 Well, now Doug Ford is standing with the federal government.
00:06:54.400 And he's standing against Alberta Premier Daniel Smith, who's saying, forget it.
00:07:02.000 You're not going to put a, you're not banning oil and gas sales to the U.S.
00:07:08.500 Not going to happen.
00:07:10.000 Doug Ford says, you're not speaking for Canada.
00:07:12.500 But he's, Doug, who is Doug Ford speaking for?
00:07:15.220 He's speaking for the liberal government.
00:07:16.840 Doug Ford is speaking for Daniel LeBlanc.
00:07:20.740 Or Dominique LeBlanc.
00:07:24.500 Excuse me, I'm kidding.
00:07:26.300 He's speaking for Dominique LeBlanc.
00:07:29.060 And for, and for Melanie Jolie.
00:07:34.580 This is, this is a side-splitting example of Doug Ford's ribald sense of humor.
00:07:44.240 No, his, his, not really.
00:07:47.300 It's a, it's an example of Doug Ford's idiocy and his lack of understanding.
00:07:53.500 Laid out the plan.
00:07:55.280 It's a fabulous plan.
00:07:56.700 Let's get out there and tell the people of Canada they've worked hard on it.
00:08:00.960 So what I said this morning after seeing the plan, it's a solid plan.
00:08:04.980 And he's going to work, you know, the Minister McGinty will work hand in hand with people like Minister Kersner.
00:08:12.660 Okay, hey, Doug, have you seen the plan?
00:08:16.260 What plan is this?
00:08:17.920 I thought the liberals already had a plan, which was to spend $1.3 billion on border security over six years.
00:08:26.500 That was the plan.
00:08:27.380 Of course, Donald Trump said, forget it.
00:08:29.460 Now, spend it now, not in six years.
00:08:32.560 I mean, this is how this liberal government thinks.
00:08:34.800 Yeah, we're going to spend the money, but somebody else will spend it five to ten years from now.
00:08:39.660 So has Doug Ford seen the plan that he says is so great?
00:08:44.320 Oh, give these guys some credit, Doug says.
00:08:46.740 They've been working so hard.
00:08:48.120 Our OPP, RCMP, CBSA, the U.S. Border Patrol, DEA.
00:08:54.120 It's a collective, collaborative group that are going to secure our borders.
00:08:58.900 But the numbers that I have seen, it's impressive.
00:09:03.580 And the plan's impressive as well.
00:09:05.620 What's the plan?
00:09:06.200 What are the specifics of what this plan involves?
00:09:08.940 I'll leave that up to the federal government.
00:09:11.420 What are the specifics, Doug, of what this plan involves, is what the reporter asked.
00:09:16.860 Doug's going to leave that up to Dominic LeBlanc and the liberal government, because he hasn't seen it.
00:09:22.120 I'm going to leave that up to Minister McGinty to get out there and put the plan in front of the Canadian people.
00:09:28.560 But it's a solid plan.
00:09:30.440 And if it wasn't a solid plan, I'd be saying it wasn't.
00:09:34.380 You'd be saying it wasn't, even though you don't know what the plan is, even though you haven't seen the plan.
00:09:40.000 But the best is yet to come.
00:09:42.060 Minister McGinty, you remember him?
00:09:43.960 He's the new Minister of Public Safety.
00:09:47.000 Sort of has been an MP in virtual obscurity now for over 15 years.
00:09:54.220 I don't know him.
00:09:54.940 I wouldn't know him if he walked through the door right now.
00:09:58.540 Yeah, and Dominic thinks that's a riot.
00:10:02.520 Doug Ford doesn't know who David McGinty even looks like who he is.
00:10:09.440 Yeah, David McGinty.
00:10:10.580 He's an Ottawa area, Ottawa South, I think.
00:10:12.760 Ottawa South MP.
00:10:14.900 And he's the new Minister of Public Safety.
00:10:17.060 His brother, of course, was the Premier of Ontario, Dalton McGinty, for years.
00:10:24.520 But Doug doesn't even know who David McGinty is.
00:10:28.220 Oh, incredible.
00:10:29.360 Can you believe your country's in the hands of people like this?
00:10:32.960 It's hard to believe.
00:10:34.780 Okay, so liberal leadership race.
00:10:36.540 This thing gets wonkier by the moment.
00:10:39.780 Who's in and who's out?
00:10:43.420 Well, just about everybody's out now.
00:10:46.640 We've got Champagne, the innovation minister, backed out.
00:10:53.140 Anita Anand backed out.
00:10:56.640 Of course, Melanie Jolie backed out.
00:10:58.160 So, Karina Gould is apparently preparing to run.
00:11:04.160 And I really find this outrageous.
00:11:06.600 And we'll watch this clip here.
00:11:09.580 And I'll tell you again why I think Karina Gould should not even think about running for the leadership of anything, even the Rhino Party.
00:11:17.640 The Liberals search for a new leader.
00:11:19.860 Karina Gould has been watching from the wings.
00:11:22.540 But the 37-year-old government house leader is ready to step up.
00:11:26.520 I'm literally hearing from every age and demographic in this country that are excited about the possibility of renewal, of energy, and of change.
00:11:37.620 What a hat.
00:11:41.100 Renewal?
00:11:42.020 Because you're in the race?
00:11:43.940 You had nothing to do with the last nine years of Justin Trudeau.
00:11:47.360 You weren't up there every day as an acolyte and an apologist for Justin Trudeau.
00:11:51.740 This is new?
00:11:52.800 It says she can raise the $350,000 entry fee.
00:11:57.560 Meanwhile, the industry minister backed away.
00:12:00.660 I will dedicate my energy to defend Canada, to defend Canadians, to defend Canadian businesses.
00:12:09.760 It was probably one of the most difficult decisions in my life.
00:12:13.900 Champagne, who represents former Prime Minister Jean Chrétien's old writing, would have had considerable Quebec support.
00:12:21.760 Something that a former Liberal BC Premier lacked.
00:12:26.140 Christy Clark told her team in an email she's not running.
00:12:29.460 Because the two-month race didn't give her enough time to improve her French, to effectively connect with Francophone Canadians.
00:12:37.420 That leaves Montreal businessman Frank Bayliss.
00:12:40.560 Ottawa MP Chandra Aria...
00:12:42.460 Who the hell are these people?
00:12:46.780 I mean, we had a comment about Frank Bayliss being, being what, a...
00:12:53.460 He's a hostage at the Liberal Party?
00:12:56.520 The guy, he might be a very successful businessman, but he is not exactly a household name, is he?
00:13:02.840 None of these people are.
00:13:03.860 And this, this is all leading up to, well, we'll, we'll say that in a minute.
00:13:08.400 Britain's Jaime Batiste has declared candidates, along with the two big names.
00:13:13.880 Canada can achieve a really positive outcome.
00:13:17.180 Christia Freeland, who helped push the Prime Minister out with her scathing resignation,
00:13:22.120 will launch her campaign by releasing a plan to fight the looming trade war with retaliatory tariffs.
00:13:28.740 Meanwhile, the former Bank of Canada governor made a case for himself as an outsider,
00:13:34.160 in an appearance on a late-night American comedy show.
00:13:37.600 Let's say the candidate wasn't part of the government.
00:13:41.720 Let's say the candidate did have a lot of economic experience.
00:13:45.300 Let's say the candidate did deal with prices.
00:13:48.240 Let's say the candidate had a plan to deal with the challenges in the here and now.
00:13:52.760 Sources tell CTV News that Mark Carney will officially launch his leadership bid on Thursday from Edmonton,
00:14:00.720 where he will highlight his Western roots.
00:14:03.440 Meanwhile, Christia Freeland and Karina Gould will officially announce they're in the race
00:14:07.980 before Donald Trump is sworn in as president.
00:14:13.620 Oh, he's going to go in Edmonton for his Western roots.
00:14:18.960 Mark Carney has globalist roots.
00:14:23.160 That's the only roots he can come up with.
00:14:26.680 Now, I said Karina Gould should hide her head in a paper bag
00:14:30.860 instead of running for the leadership of any party.
00:14:34.640 Do you remember after she invited a former Waffen-SS member
00:14:38.840 to come to Parliament and sit in the gallery?
00:14:41.660 She wanted the whole episode excised, redacted, censored from the parliamentary record.
00:14:50.460 Remember this?
00:14:50.940 I should ask for unanimous consent to adopt the following motion.
00:14:55.220 That notwithstanding any standing order, special order, or usual practice of the House,
00:15:00.360 the recognition made by the Speaker of the House of an individual present in the galleries
00:15:04.320 during a joint address to Parliament by His Excellency Vladimir Zelensky
00:15:09.240 be struck from the appendix of the House of Commons debates
00:15:11.980 of Thursday, September 21st, 2023, and from any House multimedia recording.
00:15:18.260 Thank you, Mr. Schmier.
00:15:20.860 Uh-huh.
00:15:24.300 So, is that renewal?
00:15:26.280 This is a woman who wanted to censor, in a very Orwellian way, an episode from history,
00:15:34.000 like it never happened.
00:15:36.240 Now, she couldn't exactly excise that from every media outlet,
00:15:40.300 but she wanted it excised from the official outlet.
00:15:43.960 And as far as people like that are concerned,
00:15:46.060 they would like every media outlet to be official,
00:15:49.260 so that they can censor it at any time.
00:15:52.080 That is the kind of person we're dealing with, with Karina Gould.
00:15:55.380 She is Orwellian in every aspect.
00:15:59.860 That's what defined her as Liberal House leader.
00:16:05.320 That incident right there.
00:16:07.460 So, here she is, smiling from ear to ear
00:16:11.540 about how she represents renewal and a change in the party.
00:16:17.200 Just like this guy, Mark Carney, says he's an outsider.
00:16:22.500 Oh, he hasn't been working for the Liberal Party for the last six months?
00:16:26.880 I'm sorry.
00:16:27.840 He hasn't been working with the Trudeau government?
00:16:32.040 Yeah, I know he's been the UN Goodwill Ambassador for climate change for the last three years.
00:16:36.460 That hasn't stopped him from being very close to Justin Trudeau.
00:16:39.900 Congratulations on announcing on this program that you are running.
00:16:45.780 To be the leader.
00:16:50.820 You seal it with a handshake.
00:16:53.860 Mark Carney.
00:16:54.760 You have always, you've championed with the banking industry,
00:16:58.560 ESG projects, you've championed climate projects.
00:17:03.700 As soon as these big banks got a hold that Donald Trump was going to be back in office,
00:17:07.700 they all bailed.
00:17:09.000 They all bailed on all these commitments that they made.
00:17:13.100 And you're left, in some ways, holding the carbon tax bag.
00:17:17.200 Is that going to make your running more difficult?
00:17:20.460 Wow, you packed a lot into that.
00:17:22.200 I did.
00:17:23.100 Can I tell you something?
00:17:23.700 I read your Wikipedia page.
00:17:30.440 Remind me to edit it later on.
00:17:32.840 A wild hypothetical.
00:17:34.000 Let's say the candidate wasn't part of the government.
00:17:38.000 Let's say the candidate did have a lot of economic experience.
00:17:41.600 Let's say the candidate did deal with crises.
00:17:44.560 Let's say the candidate had a plan to deal with the challenges in the here and now.
00:17:49.320 You sneaky.
00:17:50.140 You're running as an outsider.
00:17:52.040 I am an outsider.
00:17:53.700 I feel like I'm looking.
00:17:56.880 I am an outsider.
00:17:59.240 Well, I think Jon Stewart might have been the only honest person in that discourse.
00:18:05.580 Or that, that, he said, you're sneaky.
00:18:11.200 He is.
00:18:13.000 In a mirror.
00:18:14.400 We just had that election.
00:18:16.480 Yeah.
00:18:17.440 Run.
00:18:18.880 When I say run, I mean, not for office.
00:18:21.120 I mean, f***ing run.
00:18:22.140 No.
00:18:22.820 The other way.
00:18:24.200 That, it's so hard.
00:18:25.480 It's, when the headwinds are like that, it's really difficult for a candidate to come in
00:18:30.240 who is saddled with the policies that are on.
00:18:34.040 But let's say.
00:18:35.060 Oh, boy.
00:18:35.680 Let's say.
00:18:36.400 Just, just, just throw it now.
00:18:38.480 Look at you trying to preserve the relationship all of a sudden.
00:18:42.340 A wild hypothetical.
00:18:43.560 Let's say the candidate wasn't part of the government.
00:18:47.560 Let's say the candidate did have a lot of economic experience.
00:18:51.140 Let's say the candidate did deal with crises.
00:18:54.080 Let's say the candidate had a plan to deal with the challenges in the here and now.
00:18:58.600 Are you sneaky?
00:18:59.680 You're running as an outsider.
00:19:01.700 I am an outsider.
00:19:03.500 Wow.
00:19:04.080 That's all.
00:19:04.720 So, so, you're going to.
00:19:06.820 Anyway, enough of Mark Carney.
00:19:08.700 Pretending to be an outsider.
00:19:10.660 He had the gall to suggest peer polyam was the one with the baggage.
00:19:23.360 Uh-huh.
00:19:24.200 Now this, it's incredible to me that the liberals think Canadians are this stupid.
00:19:32.600 They can't recognize somebody who's not an outsider in any sense of the term.
00:19:39.220 He's not an outsider.
00:19:40.680 He's as inside the globalist agenda, inside the Justin Trudeau government as anybody.
00:19:46.500 And they are setting this up so he can walk away with this.
00:19:51.600 Now, Karina Gould has no competition for Mark Carney.
00:19:55.280 There will be some competition from Christy Freeland.
00:19:58.220 But they need somebody there to make it look like a race, don't they?
00:20:03.740 Because it's not going to be a race.
00:20:05.700 Mark Carney has already won this.
00:20:08.540 Unless Justin Trudeau wants it back.
00:20:10.680 And right now, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes.
00:20:14.400 But I can tell you, Justin Trudeau ain't quite finished yet.
00:20:19.020 I'm not sure he wants to give power away to Mark Carney.
00:20:22.900 There's a love-hate relationship there between Justin Trudeau and Mark Carney.
00:20:27.520 Justin Trudeau knows he's relied on Mark Carney for so-called legitimacy in the past.
00:20:33.220 But he knows Mark Carney thinks he's a lot smarter than Justin Trudeau.
00:20:37.240 And he resents him very, very much.
00:20:39.360 Here's some interesting commentary from former Prime Minister Stephen Harper on all of this.
00:20:45.680 According to President Trump, about $200 billion a year protecting Canada went on saying he doesn't need – the U.S. doesn't need Canada's lumber.
00:20:53.860 Commenting on the tariff problem, which, of course, is going to be exacerbated very, very shortly.
00:21:01.560 Maybe even Canada should be a 51st state.
00:21:03.580 A lot out there just in a couple weeks.
00:21:08.800 What's your reaction to all of that?
00:21:10.300 Well, I must admit, some degree of surprise.
00:21:18.580 You know, we've always – I was, you know, ran a – in fact, our Conservative Party is a very, you know, pro-American, pro-Western party.
00:21:27.100 I was probably the most pro-American prime minister in the history of our country.
00:21:33.640 I view our relationship with the United States as one of Canada's great assets.
00:21:38.580 You are our closest neighbor, our vital security partner, and, you know, not just our friend and shared comrade in the propagation of the values of the free and democratic world everywhere.
00:21:55.440 And I've always viewed this as a tremendous partnership.
00:21:58.520 I understand that, you know, Donald Trump may want some changes in trade arrangements, but I must admit to being shocked by some of the things he said.
00:22:11.660 They're just not so.
00:22:14.840 You know, first of all, we don't actually sell dairy into the United States or sell almost none.
00:22:19.540 So that's not true.
00:22:23.460 Canada – it is true that Canada presently has a modest trade surplus with the United States.
00:22:28.960 The reason, Gabe, we do is because you buy so much of our oil and gas.
00:22:34.880 In fact, you buy it at a discount to world markets.
00:22:37.780 It's actually Canada that subsidizes the United States in this regard.
00:22:41.640 And, you know, so maybe my response is maybe Canadians, if Mr. Trump feels this way, should be looking at selling their oil and gas to other people.
00:22:53.340 We certainly have always wanted to do some of that.
00:22:56.720 Maybe now's the time to do it.
00:22:58.040 And when we talk about subsidizing Canadian defense, I don't know what he's talking about.
00:23:03.700 We have a shared defense of North America.
00:23:05.740 The United States does that because it's in the vital interest of the United States.
00:23:09.040 You want Canada to be a neutral country?
00:23:13.200 You know, I kind of don't understand.
00:23:16.440 I just don't understand that.
00:23:18.520 I don't understand that argument.
00:23:19.980 There's many things he's saying.
00:23:21.200 Even when you talk about migrants, first of all, there's no major migrant flow from Canada to the United States.
00:23:26.320 There's you've obviously got an enormous problem on the southern border.
00:23:29.760 By the way, the only problem here with Harper's assessment is he he doesn't understand the terrorist element that's going in the United States.
00:23:40.920 But he points out that we don't sell any dairy to the U.S. at all.
00:23:46.520 That.
00:23:48.380 We we sell energy to the United States at a discount price that they turn around and refine.
00:23:54.880 They refine that and sell it back.
00:23:58.060 So they've got it.
00:23:59.180 They've got the best deal with that.
00:24:00.600 I'm sure Donald Trump knows that this is all part of his plan to put pressure on the Trudeau government.
00:24:07.300 But nonetheless, it's nice to hear Stephen Harper break this down and say, hey, this is not exactly true.
00:24:14.260 I'm completely sympathetic with Donald Trump's position on this.
00:24:16.380 I thought the policy of open borders of the Biden administration was was was disgraceful.
00:24:23.100 I mean, I think it was a violation of president.
00:24:26.240 I know Joe Biden personally.
00:24:27.460 I like him, but it was a violation of his fundamental duties to the country.
00:24:30.720 And of course, President Trump wants to change that.
00:24:34.260 There is no migrant flow happening from Canada to the United States at any significant numbers.
00:24:40.200 And I'm going to tell you right now, drugs, guns, crime.
00:24:43.420 Most of those things flow north, not south.
00:24:45.820 A lot more flows into Canada from the United States than flows out of it.
00:24:49.340 So, like, I have a real problem with some of the things Donald Trump is saying.
00:24:53.440 It doesn't sound to me like the pronouncements of somebody, you know, I say wants a better deal or whatever.
00:24:59.840 Fine.
00:25:00.180 But it doesn't sound to me like the pronouncements of somebody who's a friend, a partner and an ally, which is what I've always thought the United States is for our country.
00:25:09.100 Yeah, there's a lot to unpack there with regards to migration.
00:25:13.080 Obviously, it's nowhere near what's happening in the southern border, but we do have the records are – they're at record level crossing from Canada to the United States.
00:25:21.960 It's still far lower than –
00:25:23.940 And some are crossing the other way, too.
00:25:26.500 Right.
00:25:26.980 Yeah, so there's definitely a lot of work to do.
00:25:29.040 You know, from where I said, I think there might be something there of trying to push Trudeau out the door and just trying to show that Trudeau won't be able to hang with the president.
00:25:38.460 Yeah, look, I have no doubt that there's clearly animosity there, and for good reason.
00:25:44.540 I mean, Mr. Trudeau's conduct with Mr. Trump on numerous occasions when they were in office together was not professional.
00:25:54.140 And I can understand why there's some animosity.
00:25:56.660 But look, whether or not we have Mr. Trudeau as our prime minister is our choice as Canadians.
00:26:02.140 You know, we don't tell you who to elect as president of the United States.
00:26:04.840 And so as much as I'm glad to see Mr. Trudeau leaving, this is not Mr. Trump's decision.
00:26:10.740 It's the decision of – Canadians ultimately was the decision of Mr. Trudeau's own party.
00:26:15.820 Yeah, I'm reaching out to Stephen Harper to get him – see, I'm not going to promise, because, yes, I knew Stephen Harper while he was in office.
00:26:25.560 I worked for Stephen Harper's first leadership campaign.
00:26:29.400 I knew him very well.
00:26:31.220 He was a little angry at me at times because I said things – critical.
00:26:39.040 And so we'll see what happens.
00:26:41.020 But I certainly think, overall, he was a fine prime minister.
00:26:46.680 Didn't always agree with what he did.
00:26:49.060 But those were the exceptions to the rule.
00:26:53.100 And I'm reaching out to see if he can come on the show.
00:26:55.900 So that show he was on there, he didn't have a huge audience.
00:27:00.760 But I think he's anxious to talk about these issues, and I would love to have him on the show.
00:27:05.540 I have a lot of respect for him.
00:27:07.520 But I've saved the best for last.
00:27:10.100 I've saved the best for last.
00:27:12.240 Because yesterday – and I wrote a story about this for Human Events.
00:27:15.620 The column will be up today.
00:27:17.560 I'll put it up tomorrow.
00:27:19.040 It's not up yet.
00:27:19.700 But this is a fascinating exchange.
00:27:24.600 This is Pete Hegseth.
00:27:26.600 This is Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Defense.
00:27:31.040 A lot of criticism because Pete has not been a general or a senior bureaucrat.
00:27:38.900 He was a Fox News host on Fox and Friends.
00:27:43.500 And I'm sure most of you have seen Pete.
00:27:45.800 He was also a junior officer in the Army.
00:27:50.320 But a decorated veteran.
00:27:54.120 And I think it's important that we watch this.
00:27:59.840 Because, of course, Hegseth was absolutely under attack at this hearing.
00:28:07.600 And, of course, what happens is he has to appear before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
00:28:11.760 He has to go through four hours of hell.
00:28:14.040 Then the whole Senate votes on whether or not he is confirmed as the defense secretary.
00:28:21.380 So he went through that yesterday from both 930 to 130.
00:28:24.740 It was an inquisition from the Democrats.
00:28:27.440 How dare this man who's not perfect try to be defense secretary.
00:28:35.080 And the Democrats rolled everything out.
00:28:38.480 All kinds of stories about his drinking, about his philandering, about extramarital affairs, about his divorces.
00:28:47.360 Finally, one Republican senator.
00:28:49.980 Finally, one Republican senator.
00:28:53.240 Mark Mullen from Oklahoma said, oh, stop.
00:28:58.980 Stop the hypocrisy.
00:29:00.980 It's just too much.
00:29:03.660 Now, this was the best moment from the entire hearing yesterday.
00:29:11.040 Got me totally off guard there.
00:29:12.640 I'd like to submit for the record signatures by 32 members of the House of Representatives who are veterans.
00:29:20.720 The signatures call on the Senate to honor the constitutional duty of advice and consent by conducting a fair, thorough confirmation process that evaluates his nomination solely on the substance and merits.
00:29:33.380 His distinguished military service, academic credentials, and a bold vision for revitalizing the national offense.
00:29:39.340 I ask unanimous consent to enter into the record.
00:29:41.220 Without objection.
00:29:43.620 You know, there's a lot of talk going about, talking about qualifications and then about us hiring him if we are the board.
00:29:50.660 But there's a lot of senators here I wouldn't have on my board because there is no qualifications except your age and you've got to be living in the state and you're a citizen of the United States to be a senator.
00:30:01.400 Other than the fact we've got to convince a lot of people to vote for us.
00:30:04.000 And then when we start talking about qualifications for if you're qualified for it, could the chairman tell me what the qualifications are for the secretary?
00:30:12.640 The secretary of defense?
00:30:14.620 Mr. Chairman, could you tell me what the qualifications are for the secretary of defense?
00:30:18.560 I'd be happy for you to do that.
00:30:24.920 Let me read it for you.
00:30:26.500 I was getting some advice from my second in command.
00:30:30.920 Yeah, but I'm just...
00:30:31.540 That is incredible.
00:30:34.420 They don't even know what the qualifications are.
00:30:39.120 And the senator has it on his smartphone.
00:30:41.960 I'm making a point because there's a lot about qualifications.
00:30:44.540 And I think it's so hypocritical of senators, especially on the other side of the aisle, be talking about his qualifications, not going to lead the secretary or be the secretary of defense.
00:30:54.600 And yet your qualifications aren't any better.
00:30:58.740 You guys aren't any more qualified to be the senator than I'm qualified to be the senator, except we're lucky enough to be here.
00:31:03.820 But let me read you what the qualifications of the secretary of defense is, because I Googled it, and I Googled it and went through a lot of different sites.
00:31:10.300 And really, it's hard to see.
00:31:11.500 But in general, the U.S. secretary of defense position is filled by a civilian.
00:31:17.520 That's it.
00:31:18.060 If you have served in the U.S. Army forces and have been in the service for, you have to be retired for at least seven years, and Congress can weigh that.
00:31:28.820 And then there's questions that the senator from Massachusetts brought up about serving on a board inside the military industry.
00:31:42.140 And yet your own secretary that you all voted for, Secretary Austin, we had to vote on a waiver because he stepped off the board of Raytheon.
00:31:51.160 But I guess that's okay, because that's a Democrat secretary of defense.
00:31:57.080 But we so quickly forget about that.
00:31:59.340 And then Senator Kaine, or I guess I better use the senator from Virginia, starts bringing up the fact that what if you showed up drunk to your job?
00:32:07.980 How many senators have showed up drunk to vote at night?
00:32:12.140 Have any of you guys asked them to step down and resign for their job?
00:32:18.420 And don't tell me you haven't seen it, because I know you have.
00:32:21.520 And then how many senators do you know have got a divorce before cheating on their wives?
00:32:26.620 Did you ask them to step down?
00:32:29.460 No.
00:32:30.860 But it's for show.
00:32:32.220 You guys, make sure you make a big show and point out the hypocrisy because a man's made a mistake.
00:32:39.180 And you want to sit there and say that he's not qualified?
00:32:42.140 Give me a joke.
00:32:43.640 It is so ridiculous that you guys hold yourself at this higher standard and you forget you've got a big plank in your eye.
00:32:50.240 We've all made mistakes.
00:32:52.000 I've made mistakes.
00:32:52.960 And Jennifer, thank you for loving him through that mistake.
00:32:55.500 Because the only reason why I'm here and not in prison is because my wife loved me too.
00:33:04.880 I have changed, but I'm not perfect.
00:33:08.720 But I found somebody that thought I was perfect.
00:33:11.540 And for whatever reason, you love Pete, and I don't know why.
00:33:16.700 But just like our Lord and Savior forgave me, my wife's had to forgive me more than once too.
00:33:21.900 And I'm sure you've had to forgive him too.
00:33:23.980 And so thank you.
00:33:24.800 Thank you.
00:33:26.480 That was one of the best moments I've ever seen at a Senate confirmation hearing.
00:33:32.080 Just calling out the hypocrisy of these bloated senators who sit on their fat behinds and accuse everybody else of moral failings.
00:33:41.860 And here's a senator saying, you know you come to vote at night drunk.
00:33:47.560 You know senators have been caught cheating on their wives and they've had divorces result from it.
00:33:54.060 What a bunch of hypocrites.
00:33:55.640 Somebody calling out these whitewashed sepulchers.
00:33:58.340 Somebody saying, how dare you make these judgments.
00:34:02.340 Take the moat out of your own eye.
00:34:04.540 And that, to me, was the moment I was waiting to see yesterday when I watched the Senate confirmation hearing.
00:34:13.080 That was classic, folks.
00:34:15.020 Classic.
00:34:16.000 Watch it again.
00:34:16.880 Because that was a wonderful moment.
00:34:21.040 Remember the merchandise.
00:34:24.780 I said at the beginning, I'm going to remind you.
00:34:26.860 Take care.
00:34:27.580 Take care.
00:34:27.860 Bye.
00:34:31.300 Bye.
00:34:31.660 Bye.
00:34:33.680 Thank you for watching today.
00:35:02.620 I'll be back again tomorrow with all the news you need to know, or at least some of it.
00:35:10.820 Eventually, you'll get all the news you need to know.
00:35:13.640 And continue to resolve to resist as we fight this tyranny.
00:35:17.580 And don't be fooled by a liberal party that says it's renewal when Karina Gold is new.
00:35:25.660 Or it's renewal when an outsider like Mark Carney takes over the party.
00:35:31.040 You know that's BS as much as I do.
00:35:34.440 Thank you for watching.
00:35:35.640 Goodbye for now.
