Summary

Justin Trudeau wants to quadruple Canada's carbon tax to 61 cents per litre, but only for home heating oil. Will he get his way with a carbon tax? Or will Jagmeet Singh and the rest of the New Democrats fight back?

Transcript

00:00:00.000 Get ready for a carbon tax election. I'll be back in a minute to explain exactly.
00:00:07.160 So we are in a very precarious position in this country.
00:00:11.400 We need political change, but we also need to resolve to resist.
00:00:16.000 Okay, welcome back to another episode of Stand on Guard.
00:00:29.920 I'm your host, David Creighton, and you're watching the Creighton's Right channel here on YouTube.
00:00:34.860 Thank you so much for tuning in today.
00:00:37.480 And we've got more information for you that might not necessarily be available on the mainstream media.
00:00:46.000 Big issue of the week, of the hour, of the day is the carbon tax and how Justin Trudeau selectively applies it.
00:00:54.960 If you're a lucky person living in the Atlantic, Canada, and your liberal MP went to bat for you,
00:01:02.040 Justin Trudeau announced a pause for home heating oil.
00:01:06.400 But nobody else, nobody else is going to get that kind of exemption.
00:01:11.580 And somehow, as you'll hear in some of these clips, this has all got something to do with keeping up with fighting climate change and contributing to the carbon tax.
00:01:22.800 It's all part of the liberal illogic that really makes no sense.
00:01:26.440 But let's listen to what Pierre Paulyov said today.
00:01:31.260 He's laid down the gauntlet.
00:01:34.040 The fight and conquer strategy being condemned even by some New Democrats.
00:01:39.560 The NDP in Saskatchewan and Alberta have come out against the two classes of citizenship that Justin Trudeau has imposed with his carbon tax on heat.
00:01:52.840 The Manitoba NDP government has opposed the unfairness.
00:01:58.120 And even B.C.'s NDP is raising concerns.
00:02:02.020 So the question becomes, what will Jagmeet Singh do?
00:02:05.840 Will Jagmeet Singh stand with provincial NDPers?
00:02:08.960 Will he stand with the voters who put their trust in his MPs in places like Timmons and other cold northern communities?
00:02:19.160 Or will he once again sell out working class Canadians in order to suck up to Justin Trudeau?
00:02:26.520 Well, clearly, Jagmeet Singh has no comprehension of what a working class Canadian is.
00:02:33.120 He never has.
00:02:33.980 He's never really been in touch with them his whole life.
00:02:35.780 But he keeps propping up the liberal government.
00:02:38.880 And in question period, we see the other mask of Jagmeet Singh, where he gets up and tries to ask a really tough question, maybe once a week.
00:02:47.620 But usually they're little softball questions and he tries to look tough.
00:02:52.040 But Pierre Paulyov asks the decision, what's he going to do?
00:02:54.800 He asks a good question.
00:02:56.860 What is Jagmeet Singh going to do?
00:02:58.400 Will be his decision.
00:02:59.160 And he'll have a chance to make that decision on Monday, because I am announcing today that the Common Sense Conservatives have put forward a motion in the House of Commons,
00:03:13.000 extending the pause on home heating to all Canadians everywhere.
00:03:17.360 And where is the money going from this carbon tax?
00:03:36.420 Well, we found out today, secret recordings from a top bureaucrat in the liberal government admit that a green fund was giving out, quote, free money.
00:03:50.060 Get this.
00:03:51.060 I'm going to quote from the recording.
00:03:52.560 It was free money, he said, before making an analogy with the controversy that affected Jean Chrétien's liberal government in the 2000s.
00:04:00.640 That is almost sponsorship scandal level giveaway.
00:04:05.660 Wow.
00:04:06.480 So when they said green fund, what they meant is putting green in the pockets of well-connected liberals.
00:04:12.640 A billion dollar fund.
00:04:14.880 A billion dollar fund.
00:04:16.000 And while Canadians cannot afford to eat, heat, and house themselves, Trudeau wants to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents a litre in order to hand out more gifts and more giveaways to wealthy, connected, liberal insiders.
00:04:30.860 So, I'm offering a compromise to Justin Trudeau.
00:04:35.140 If he'll come out of hiding from under his desk, I want to make a deal with him.
00:04:40.100 We all know that we're not going to agree on the carbon tax.
00:04:43.960 He wants to raise it.
00:04:45.020 I want to axe it.
00:04:46.640 We all know that.
00:04:47.660 Okay.
00:04:48.400 But he is now admitting that taxing people's home heat does nothing for the environment and makes people worse off.
00:04:57.420 He's admitted that with his flip-flop on Thursday.
00:05:01.820 So, let's make a deal.
00:05:04.240 Let's pause the carbon tax on all home heating until Canadians go to the polls so that we can have a carbon tax election where Canadians will decide between his plan to quadruple the tax to 61 cents a litre on heat, gas, and groceries,
00:05:23.660 and my common sense plan to axe the tax and bring home lower prices.
00:05:28.040 A carbon tax election.
00:05:29.040 A carbon tax election.
00:05:30.040 A carbon tax election.
00:05:35.040 Yes.
00:05:36.040 A carbon tax election.
00:05:37.040 Yes.
00:05:38.040 A carbon tax election.
00:05:39.040 Well, sounds intriguing to me.
00:05:51.600 We'll find out if Trudeau will accept.
00:05:54.220 Of course, he won't because he wants it both ways.
00:05:57.160 And he claimed today that he's won the last three elections on the carbon tax.
00:06:04.000 Of course, he'll claim whatever he wants.
00:06:06.880 And he'll continue to lie about the efficacy of the carbon tax to do anything as probably upset for the environment or in terms of fighting climate change.
00:06:19.560 We are very unsure it's doing anything except robbing dollars from the pockets of ordinary Canadians.
00:06:27.160 Well, you want to hear some real blather.
00:06:29.120 Listen to the natural resources minister who was up today in question period like 15 times because nobody else was there in the ministerial category.
00:06:39.460 Everybody was parliamentary secretaries and below.
00:06:42.020 Where was the front rank of the Liberal cabinet today?
00:06:45.860 Justin Trudeau skipped out again.
00:06:48.320 Christy Freeland, no show.
00:06:51.940 Yeah, Melanie Jolie wasn't there either.
00:06:55.300 Interesting.
00:06:55.680 And basically, Wilkinson, he was the only one there.
00:07:00.220 But listen to him blather on about how it's going to help reduce dependence on oil if we reduce the carbon tax for people in Atlantic Canada.
00:07:13.960 Oil is significantly more expensive.
00:07:17.360 It has escalated significantly in the last couple of years.
00:07:19.980 It is predominantly a rural thing that actually there is a lot of energy poverty concentrated with people who actually use home heating oil.
00:07:27.840 We have actually come up with a solution to get them off of that and to reduce their overall expenditures on energy by installing a free heat pump.
00:07:35.020 We are positive for three years.
00:07:37.520 And during that period of time, we will be working with folks to actually ensure that they can install heat pumps to address the long-term affordable issues and to address the cost.
00:07:46.440 So if we don't think they're not large, are there no more carve-outs coming?
00:07:51.680 There will be no more carve-outs coming.
00:07:54.140 When we started the oil-to-heat pump program, which is the $10,000 grant, we reached out to every province and territory and offered them the opportunity to actually co-deliver the program, okay?
00:08:03.880 Three provinces took us up on that.
00:08:05.820 Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.
00:08:08.140 We are going back out to re-offer that to all of them.
00:08:12.720 The requirement is for the additional $5,000 that we're putting in, they have to match it, and we will work on co-delivery.
00:08:19.360 That applies to Ontario, and we're willing to start those conversations.
00:08:23.980 Okay.
00:08:25.420 So we're going to wean people off oil by reducing the carbon tax so it makes oil cheaper.
00:08:33.300 I thought the idea of the carbon tax was to encourage people not to use oil because it was more expensive.
00:08:39.920 So if it's less expensive, they're not going to use oil.
00:08:42.620 I don't think it makes any sense.
00:08:45.300 And Wilkinson probably knows that.
00:08:47.740 He's as condescending and as contemptuous as Christia Freeland.
00:08:54.100 In fact, he might even have been separated at birth with this as his missing sister.
00:08:59.340 He even has the same hand motions in Parliament.
00:09:01.780 He waves his fist at people and looks at them contemptuously from the back of this, like this, leans back.
00:09:09.420 So I don't know if he's actually that stupid that he can't figure that out, or he's just reading the talking points and saying,
00:09:18.980 my God, I hope somebody believes this, because it's absolute blather.
00:09:23.340 He talks a bit about the heat pump, and he says it's a free heat pump.
00:09:28.580 We'll talk about this a bit more later.
00:09:30.460 But the deputy prime minister, who I said could be the sister of Jonathan Wilkinson.
00:09:36.800 They both have nothing but contempt for people, and they both talk like they're lecturing all the time.
00:09:42.380 She talks a bit more about heat pumps and how they're going to make a real difference to Canadians.
00:09:48.900 No, we're not undermining the policy overall.
00:09:51.920 Home heating oil has some very specific characteristics.
00:09:58.760 Home heating oil is a very polluting form of heating oil.
00:10:06.040 Home heating oil also is really expensive.
00:10:09.800 And home heating oil tends to be used by low-income and rural people.
00:10:16.620 And when you take those three characteristics together,
00:10:22.840 it makes a lot of sense to do what the prime minister announced last week,
00:10:26.960 which is to create a program that will accelerate the transition from home heating oil to heat pumps,
00:10:35.800 to create a program that will allow people who are using home heating oil,
00:10:42.140 who are paying a lot for that heavily polluting form of oil,
00:10:48.520 but who just don't have the money to buy a heat pump right now,
00:10:52.440 to make it possible for them to make a change that is going to be good for them,
00:10:57.380 good for their family budgets, and good for the planet.
00:11:02.500 But people can't make that change if they don't have the money to do it.
00:11:06.760 And that is what we recognize.
00:11:09.560 That is what we heard across the country.
00:11:11.720 And that is why we've put that program in place.
00:11:16.080 This is going to accelerate the transition
00:11:19.080 and going to make life more affordable for Canadians.
00:11:23.520 It's the right thing to do.
00:11:24.760 And I do want to emphasize that the top-up to the heat pump program
00:11:34.840 is available to any province that wants to participate.
00:11:39.620 Okay, sounds so simple, doesn't it?
00:11:42.840 All you've got to do is get your free heat pump.
00:11:45.580 Problem is, unless you're making less than $30,000 a year,
00:11:51.620 family income, $30,000 a year.
00:11:55.420 So that would be like a couple making $15,000 each.
00:11:59.520 You ain't going to get no heat pump
00:12:01.460 because then you've got to get it on the market.
00:12:05.920 And there's a little bit of a grant available.
00:12:07.860 We've got to pay it back.
00:12:09.580 No interest, but you've got to pay it back.
00:12:11.600 So the point is, the free heat pumps are only available
00:12:13.840 to people who don't want one or don't need one
00:12:15.980 because they don't own a home.
00:12:17.080 And I can guarantee you, in the market today,
00:12:21.120 if a couple is making $30,000 a year,
00:12:25.020 they can't afford to buy a house.
00:12:27.320 And they aren't living in a house.
00:12:29.780 And it's very unlikely they're going to be buying a heat pump
00:12:33.200 for a rented apartment.
00:12:35.100 So let's get some sense here.
00:12:38.360 I mean, it's absolutely ludicrous.
00:12:40.380 This program is nothing but a sham.
00:12:43.020 This program is just smoke and mirrors.
00:12:45.620 This program is cynical politics at its worst.
00:12:49.580 It's all about appeasing Atlantic Canada liberal MPs
00:12:53.180 with a cash grab for some people who get some money back
00:12:59.240 or who won't have to pay as much tax.
00:13:02.740 And there's no free heat pump in the liberal universe,
00:13:08.000 in liberal fantasy land.
00:13:09.540 It doesn't exist.
00:13:10.360 Yeah, there's some grants.
00:13:13.140 But based on your savings,
00:13:16.040 it's probably going to take you 20 years to pay that back.
00:13:19.480 You know why?
00:13:20.700 Let's take a look at this.
00:13:22.500 Heat pumps just don't work very well.
00:13:26.060 And they cost about $20,000 US to buy and install, at least.
00:13:30.560 That's the base figure.
00:13:32.340 They're not carbon neutral.
00:13:34.540 You think the power to generate them
00:13:37.340 just comes from nowhere?
00:13:39.040 It's magic, right?
00:13:40.220 It's just like electric cars.
00:13:43.720 You know, you have to plug them into a power source, too.
00:13:47.860 And that's usually electricity,
00:13:50.640 which comes from coal-fired plants in many cases.
00:13:54.300 But I digress.
00:13:55.340 The worst thing about these heat pumps is that it's a cruel joke.
00:14:00.440 Because if you live in most places in Canada,
00:14:05.180 from Halifax to Edmonton,
00:14:07.740 you're going to be experiencing minus 40-degree weather.
00:14:13.160 And in January and February,
00:14:15.020 you know, from minus 20 to minus 40 is not uncommon
00:14:18.000 for a lot of places in Canada.
00:14:19.420 The heat pumps don't work below about minus 15 degrees Celsius,
00:14:25.500 zero degrees Fahrenheit.
00:14:27.460 They don't work very effectively.
00:14:29.760 So they're going to be sucking in cold air.
00:14:31.760 You're going to be freezing.
00:14:33.300 And this is the panacea of the liberal government.
00:14:39.340 This is going to be the answer to everybody's energy problems.
00:14:42.360 This is, once again,
00:14:43.720 Justin Trudeau offering household savings advice.
00:14:46.760 Who wants to listen to him?
00:14:48.580 He doesn't know a thing about household savings.
00:14:52.620 He knows how to spend.
00:14:55.160 But you know what?
00:14:55.900 Trudeau is saying, forget it.
00:14:58.380 Forget it.
00:14:59.280 If anybody else thinks they're going to get the same deal,
00:15:03.020 you've got another thing coming.
00:15:05.260 Let's listen to the man himself today.
00:15:08.120 Just like Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Alberta and elsewhere,
00:15:12.140 want to do the same thing that Newfoundland, PEI,
00:15:16.340 and Nova Scotia are doing,
00:15:17.320 which is work with us to make sure that low-income families get heat pumps for free,
00:15:22.940 we're there to work with them.
00:15:24.100 It's a program for right across the country.
00:15:25.600 Okay.
00:15:25.860 We didn't get you in English.
00:15:26.820 We didn't get you in English.
00:15:27.540 Can you just declaratively say,
00:15:28.740 will there be a carve-out for other carbon taxes in English?
00:15:31.360 I know you said in French, but just to clarify.
00:15:33.120 There will absolutely not be any other carve-outs or suspensions of the price on pollution.
00:15:38.580 This is designed to phase out home heating oil the way we made a decision to phase out coal.
00:15:45.060 Now, when we decided to phase out coal as a country,
00:15:48.220 there were provinces that had long gone from coal,
00:15:50.820 that didn't help them at all that we were phasing out coal,
00:15:53.400 because they'd already done it.
00:15:54.520 Others needed to step up to do it.
00:15:57.060 This is specifically about ending the use of home heating oil,
00:16:01.640 which is more polluting, more expensive,
00:16:04.680 and impacts low-income Canadians to a greater degree.
00:16:07.780 But it's a secure system.
00:16:10.360 There's more of the liberal BS about this being about weaning people off home heating oil.
00:16:17.320 No sense to it at all.
00:16:18.920 Doesn't make up of sense.
00:16:20.760 But Trudeau just keeps repeating it, repeating it, repeating it.
00:16:23.380 And the lie, just somebody will buy into it sooner or later, if you keep saying it.
00:16:28.060 They've been saying it 50 times a day in question period,
00:16:30.780 because they honestly think saying it enough, repeating it enough,
00:16:34.480 will make somebody out there believe it.
00:16:37.740 And hopefully enough of them will vote liberal.
00:16:39.620 But this is so nonsensical.
00:16:41.440 And he's talking about your free heat pump again.
00:16:45.160 Balderdash. Rubbish.
00:16:46.560 There's no free heat pump for the vast majority of homeowners,
00:16:50.720 because they're going to be making too much money.
00:16:53.860 And God help them if they got one, because it's not going to help them out.
00:16:59.120 If you're living in Edmonton, minus 40 comes pretty quickly in the winter.
00:17:04.680 And it stays there for a week or so.
00:17:07.940 And more.
00:17:09.180 And you're going to be freezing with your heat pump.
00:17:12.200 So let's get a dose of reality here.
00:17:15.300 And it's upsetting that these liberals think they can lie like this without anybody taking the test.
00:17:23.180 They're selling you an absolutely useless product in terms of what they say it's going to do for you.
00:17:33.420 It's not going to replace fossil fuels.
00:17:36.880 It's not going to be the panacea.
00:17:40.320 It's not going to be something that's going to make it.
00:17:43.820 Everybody now is no longer going to have a problem with fighting climate change.
00:17:50.140 It is absolute nonsense.
00:17:51.880 So what does this really mean?
00:17:54.320 If you get behind these lies, these talking points, this blather, these meaningless words and phrases and expressions,
00:18:04.460 these Orwellian words and phrases and expressions,
00:18:08.280 the talk about doing this so people will consume less oil, which is absolute incredible nonsense.
00:18:15.460 If you get beyond that, what does it really mean?
00:18:17.840 Are people listening to Trudeau?
00:18:19.560 Are you think people are going to listen to Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party and this cavalcade of moronic cabinet ministers
00:18:27.980 who he parades in front of us every day saying the same blather?
00:18:32.580 Are people going to buy into this?
00:18:34.060 Well, let's listen to what Nick Nanos has to say.
00:18:36.640 I'm not sure how the Liberals can step back and hold back other exemptions for Canadians from other parts of the country.
00:18:46.960 You know, probably what happened was, you know, the loudest pushback was probably from the Atlantic Canadian caucus.
00:18:53.840 The Atlantic numbers for the Liberals are in the tank and there are a lot of seats that are in play.
00:18:58.740 The Liberals might be down to perhaps even five seats in all of Atlantic Canada, which is a massive setback.
00:19:03.460 And, you know, it's double jeopardy.
00:19:06.660 Maybe this is the best way to describe it.
00:19:08.400 It's double jeopardy from a political perspective because they're not going to make people happy by dialing back.
00:19:14.000 Well, maybe a little happy.
00:19:14.880 They're still going to be angry.
00:19:16.400 And then for those individuals who believe in the carbon tax where the environment is a top national issue concern,
00:19:23.620 this has to be a disappointment for them.
00:19:26.820 So this is double political jeopardy for the Liberals.
00:19:29.360 It's no win regardless of what they move forward.
00:19:31.980 It might have been better for them just to stay the course and hold on to some of those some of those environmental focused voters.
00:19:43.260 Yeah, double jeopardy.
00:19:46.700 Interesting.
00:19:47.480 And Nick Nanos is usually quite equitable in his assessment of political leaders.
00:19:52.860 I think he's dead on here.
00:19:54.760 This is not a good spin for the Liberal Party or for Justin Trudeau.
00:19:59.400 He just it's a no win situation.
00:20:02.300 He is going to anger half most of Canadians for obviously favoring one part of Canada.
00:20:10.680 And he's already peed off all of the environmentalists who say, don't touch the carbon tax.
00:20:16.980 It's sacrosanct.
00:20:18.140 It's sacred.
00:20:19.240 It's precious.
00:20:20.000 Don't touch it because it's going to stop climate change.
00:20:23.960 As ridiculous as that supposition is.
00:20:27.140 Canada, what, producing 1.5 percent of the global gas emissions on the world.
00:20:31.600 Yeah, that's going to start changing or turning back climate change.
00:20:36.740 As I've said a dozen times on this program, we could all turn off the lights, turn off the heat, go into caves, stop driving and stop traveling in aircraft.
00:20:48.540 And we would not make a dent in the global carbon footprint.
00:20:55.000 Won't make a difference.
00:20:57.760 So while Trudeau has a suffering for this huge and larger ideal of fighting climate change, it's all mythology.
00:21:05.920 It's all a lie.
00:21:07.040 It's not fighting anything except our pocketbooks.
00:21:11.180 And that's all this amounts to.
00:21:13.660 And so Trudeau has made a fabulously stupid decision here.
00:21:17.060 He's looking like somebody who is a cynical political player who will do anything and make any compromise to keep votes.
00:21:26.540 And he's alienating his core base of environmental extremists who think the carbon tax should never be touched.
00:21:35.240 So thanks for watching today.
00:21:37.560 I should have told you ring that bell.
00:21:39.960 Subscribe.
00:21:40.540 We need people to keep showing Justin Trudeau that you want the real news and you object and you reject his censorship.
