00:00:00.940 Hi, welcome back to another edition of Stand on Guard.
00:00:06.020 I'm your host, David Crayton. Thanks for joining me on this Sunday.
00:00:10.100 I hope you're not as cold as we are here in the Ottawa area.
00:00:15.100 It's cold, but it's supposed to be warming up.
00:00:18.360 But heat pumps aren't going to do it for you.
00:00:21.680 And we'll be back to discuss that in just one moment.
00:00:26.160 So we are in a very precarious position in this country.
00:00:32.040 We need political change, but we also need to resolve to resist.
00:00:47.320 Yes, and please do, as Sasha, my cat, demonstrates. Ring the bell.
00:00:51.740 Like the broadcast right now so we can beat the YouTube algorithm.
00:00:56.260 It's amazing how that works.
00:00:58.480 Subscribe if you haven't.
00:00:59.960 Resubscribe if you've subscribed and YouTube is taking you off.
00:01:03.600 I'm hearing that so often now.
00:01:05.800 Not just from conservative, small c, conservative broadcasters like myself.
00:01:13.980 But a lot of people out there in the mainstream say they're getting people just taken off, unsubscribed for no reason.
00:01:21.620 So it's important to do that.
00:01:25.320 It means so much.
00:01:26.940 And we're building this station.
00:01:28.360 We're on our way to 20,000 subscribers.
00:01:30.920 I didn't think we'd be there at one time.
00:01:34.120 I appreciate your support so much.
00:01:36.320 And so many of you have reached out and financially helped as well.
00:01:39.460 I thank you for that.
00:01:40.280 I'm not going to ask for money.
00:01:41.980 Some people don't like that.
00:01:43.220 But I appreciate those who have lent a helping hand because it's necessary.
00:01:50.640 The more time I invest in this independent media, the less time I have to invest in other things.
00:01:57.640 But I think this is important.
00:02:00.660 And it's important to talk about heat pumps.
00:02:03.420 Now, why are we talking about heat pumps?
00:02:04.820 Well, I'll tell you.
00:02:05.660 Because look at this headline here.
00:02:08.260 Heat pump program costs are on track.
00:02:12.860 But it could jump to $2.7 billion, according to the Parliamentary Budget Office.
00:02:22.500 $2.7 billion.
00:02:24.640 Now, you recall, or you may recall during the Jean Chrétien years, that there was a huge scandal over what was going on in the one of the large departments of government looked after, essentially, the huge bureaucracy of government services.
00:02:48.080 And it was a disaster.
00:02:50.460 It was called a billion-dollar boondoggle.
00:02:53.560 Well, what Justin Trudeau has on his hands right now with his heat pump program is a $2.7 billion boondoggle.
00:03:07.340 Hey, everything's the price has been adjusted for inflation, which, of course, Trudeau has contributed greatly to.
00:03:13.300 But now, if you're wondering what heat pumps are, here's a little reminder.
00:03:20.120 Yes, they plug in in the backyard, and they supposedly bring you heat.
00:03:28.660 That's why they're called a heat pump.
00:03:30.620 But there's a little problem.
00:03:33.000 They don't work.
00:03:34.160 Now, we'll investigate this a little further.
00:03:38.200 But where is the energy going to come to run all of these heat pumps?
00:03:46.020 Now, if everybody who's eligible for their so-called free heat pump requests one, the price is going to be almost $3 billion.
00:03:56.460 Now, is that a good investment or a bad investment?
00:04:01.180 Well, it's a really stupid investment because it's Justin Trudeau making their recommendation about spending money.
00:04:09.520 And believe me, if this guy was giving stock market tips, I wouldn't be listening because his judgment's very bad.
00:04:16.780 What's the problem with heat pumps?
00:04:18.400 Well, as Premier Scott Moe of Saskatchewan pointed out, and I've done a lot of research, when Trudeau first started trying to hawk these heat pumps, I said, something doesn't sound right about these things.
00:04:34.140 Because I think these really were made for warmer climates, where the heat pump is sort of a stopgap measure in fairly moderate winters, mild winters, like, say, Florida.
00:04:45.800 Do they work in Canada?
00:04:48.500 Well, as Scott Moe points out in this post on X, they only work basically up to minus 25 degrees Celsius.
00:05:00.760 And some estimates are even higher than that.
00:05:05.280 From minus 20 to minus 25, the performance of a heat pump is negligible after minus 25.
00:05:13.340 At the very least, it stops working.
00:05:18.300 So that means what happened recently here in Canada?
00:05:22.780 Well, you know, we're in a deep freeze here in Ontario right now, East Ontario.
00:05:26.780 But it's nothing compared to what they went through in Alberta.
00:05:31.740 Now, Alberta went through like minus 63 with a wind chill factor.
00:05:38.300 It was about minus 40, minus 45.
00:05:39.980 Now, I've lived in Alberta.
00:05:41.520 I know how cold that is.
00:05:44.520 If you're walking down the streets of Edmonton with a cold wind in your face, you can't wait to get inside.
00:05:53.100 It's cold.
00:05:54.600 But this was a veritable disaster in the province of Alberta during the last cold snap.
00:06:03.940 And they're going through another one right now.
00:06:05.740 But they actually almost broke the electrical grid in the province because there was such a demand for power.
00:06:14.780 Now, your electric car battery, if you're unfortunate or stupid enough to own an electric car, is not going to work in those kind of temperatures.
00:06:23.900 So the province and the hydro companies begged people to stop using power.
00:06:36.640 Unplug your phone.
00:06:39.420 Unplug devices in your house that you're not using, that are not absolutely mandatory.
00:06:45.880 Stop using power because we're going to have rolling blackouts.
00:06:49.720 Now, you hear about these things in the summer because of air conditioning, putting stress on.
00:06:55.940 But rolling blackouts in the winter, people can die in the winter because of the cold.
00:07:02.120 It is a lot worse than having your air conditioner shut off in the summer.
00:07:09.120 You can die in minus 40 degree temperatures.
00:07:12.820 And your house gets cold very fast.
00:07:15.200 So here's the problem.
00:07:20.320 All I see in the mainstream media after this is people are wondering about how climate change created the cold temperatures.
00:07:31.420 Because wasn't it always global warming in the past?
00:07:34.500 Yeah, of course it was.
00:07:35.380 And they're still saying that, yes, the Earth is warming up too fast, too quickly, and we have to reduce the overall global warming by two degrees Celsius.
00:07:51.540 Now, of course, this is a magic number that they are trying to create hysteria over reaching this objective.
00:07:58.140 But every time we get into January, February, and the temperatures plummet, suddenly, well, it's not just about global warming.
00:08:09.140 Climate change also creates any kind of climatic disaster, any kind of climatic dysfunction.
00:08:17.380 And so if it's cold, it's got to be climate change.
00:08:21.660 And the mainstream media immediately pumps out the articles about everybody's worried about climate change because it's getting cold now.
00:08:29.240 And how did climate change affect the cold snap?
00:08:32.940 And climate change is still the real issue.
00:08:36.540 Not that people are going to freeze in the winter.
00:08:38.580 Not that the government is so cruel it's trying to shut off the power.
00:08:42.260 Not that the liberal government is so insane and so toxic.
00:08:46.160 All they can talk about is climate change, and they won't talk about the needs of Canadians to heat their homes.
00:08:54.100 So Trudeau thinks the heat pumps are going to work.
00:08:57.400 Let me show you again this hilarious video of Justin Trudeau talking about heat pumps as being the panacea to solve Canada's home heating.
00:09:12.260 Crisis.
00:09:14.220 Don't worry.
00:09:15.800 All we have to do is plug in a heat pump.
00:09:18.740 Let's listen.
00:09:19.940 Heat pumps.
00:09:21.100 The thermopomps electric.
00:09:22.980 They're an efficient, affordable, cleaner way to both heat and cool your home.
00:09:29.160 That's why everyone's talking about that.
00:09:31.300 We've been working with provinces and territories right across the country to make sure we're installing heat pumps and phasing out home heating oil.
00:09:40.760 Because the fact is, it's good for the environment, but it's also good for your wallet.
00:09:46.780 People who switch from heating oil to heat pumps can save on average $2,500 a year.
00:09:54.660 That makes a huge difference, both for your bottom line, but also for the future that we're building for our kids.
00:10:02.260 Seamus, sign up.
00:10:03.740 And for everybody else, we are going to work out plans so that you're not having to pay that big upfront cost to keep so many people from getting onto heat pumps.
00:10:11.440 We'll look after that and we'll pay it out over the savings that you will accrue over the years to follow.
00:10:17.300 This is all part of how we build a better future for everyone.
00:10:20.640 Yeah, so you're going to be saving all of this money, but what Trudeau's not telling you is that maybe you'll save some money, but you're going to be freezing and your house won't be warm.
00:10:35.420 But don't worry.
00:10:37.220 You won't have to be using any of that awful fossil fuels.
00:10:40.120 You won't have to be using any oil, no natural gas, or anything that is not approved by the federal government.
00:10:50.940 Now, the other problem here, of course, is that how do we power heat pumps?
00:10:57.560 Is there a magical source?
00:10:59.000 There must be, right?
00:11:00.200 There must be some magical source of power for these things.
00:11:03.520 Because, I mean, otherwise, it wouldn't make sense, would it?
00:11:06.980 Because if all of these people are going to be getting heat pumps and plugging them in, isn't that going to put a tremendous strain on the electricity grid?
00:11:19.620 Because guess what, folks?
00:11:21.380 That's what powers a heat pump.
00:11:24.460 It's electricity.
00:11:26.680 And as we all know, electricity doesn't come from nowhere.
00:11:31.280 In some cases, it's produced by coal-fired plants.
00:11:34.420 But if you don't have hydroelectricity, like they do in Ontario and Quebec, well, you're just out of luck because that's not considered to be clean.
00:11:47.160 And so, no, natural gas won't do.
00:11:49.700 And as our environment minister and climate change minister, Stephen Gilboa, you know, the felon from Greenpeace who used to climb the CN Tower just for fun to produce another stunt for his environmental extremist agenda.
00:12:09.880 Well, Gilboa, he's out there, of course, selling electric cars.
00:12:13.120 And if you're really, really desperate, maybe you'll buy an electric car just to think you're somehow helping the environment or fighting climate change by doing so.
00:12:24.720 But Gilboa has been quite clear that the only way to fight climate change, really fight climate change, is to sacrifice, is to shut the lights off in the home, turn off the gas, turn off the oil, turn off all fossil fuels, stop driving your car, stop flying anywhere, and then you're fighting climate change.
00:12:47.680 Mm-hmm.
00:12:48.880 Then you're going to be living in a cave.
00:12:52.400 You might as well be.
00:12:53.420 I've been saying this for months, but every time we come into winter, why do we hear less from the federal government about how climate change is causing global warming?
00:13:06.600 It's because it's profoundly idiotic to say that when people are worried about freezing to death.
00:13:14.980 So here's Gilboa telling you that what you got to do is shut off the power, shut off the lights, and then you're fighting climate change.
00:13:21.580 And here's Trudeau trying to sell you a heat pump.
00:13:26.540 I just find it incredible that they think Canadians are this stupid.
00:13:33.200 Now, my question is, how is the Liberal Party and how are members of the Liberal Party benefiting from the sale of heat pumps?
00:13:44.420 Yeah, there's got to be a connection.
00:13:48.060 Follow the money because you know this has nothing to do with so-called fighting climate change.
00:13:56.860 This has nothing to do with creating a panacea for home heating.
00:13:59.760 This has nothing to do with creating a viable alternative to fossil fuels.
00:14:07.540 Somebody's going to get rich off of this scheme because it's an idiotic, imbecilic scheme.
00:14:16.240 And all it can do is make money improperly for people who have no business being in this scheme at all.
00:14:25.480 Because heat pumps are not going to work.
00:14:29.640 And that is quite clear.
00:14:31.020 Now we know it's a $2.7 billion boondoggle.
00:14:35.340 Liberals are very good at creating boondoggles.
00:14:38.460 And the green energy that you hear Trudeau and Gilbo talking about, in the first place, there's not enough of it to replace fossil fuels.
00:14:54.540 It is not a miraculous solution.
00:14:58.560 There's not enough green energy to run a modern industrialized society.
00:15:05.520 It just isn't there.
00:15:08.460 And there's no transition period here.
00:15:11.340 We are being forced to get rid of the power that keeps us warm, that drives our cars, that enables us to eat.
00:15:23.680 Before there's even a viable alternative for it.
00:15:27.140 Now they talk about the just transition.
00:15:29.700 Turned out that was the Justin transition, as in Justin Trudeau.
00:15:33.760 Because there was no rhyme or reason to it.
00:15:35.920 It was not thought out.
00:15:36.980 It's still not thought out.
00:15:38.520 And you can see by the escalating problems with a lack of response to freezing temperatures in this country, that's not going to work.
00:15:49.980 I want to listen to former Liberal MP, Dan McTeague, who is the president of Canadians.
00:15:58.200 To subsidize their building, asking them to subsidize their purchasing, asking to subsidize their infrastructure.
00:16:04.780 Imagine if Henry Ford was told in 1903, when he began with the Model Ts, that the only way in which he could displace the horse and buggy with his new vehicle would be to have massive subsidies.
00:16:18.060 What a distorted world we would live in today.
00:16:19.920 The frank reality is that Canadians should not and not put up with what this government is promoting.
00:16:25.280 Now, Dan, who used to be a Liberal MP, you know, has told me on a number of occasions, he said this on the broadcast, he could not function.
00:16:36.400 He could not work in a Justin Trudeau cabinet slash caucus because he thinks Justin Trudeau is so completely off base.
00:16:45.120 And he's called Stephen Gilboa a Marxist, an Anterian candidate, a useful idiot, and that's exactly what he is.
00:16:53.840 So what is Dan saying here is that they honestly expect to replace fossil fuels with a solution that isn't one, but we're still going to do it.
00:17:08.320 And we're going to subsidize that non-existent solution with your tax dollars, even though it's not going to work.
00:17:15.120 Now, this would be called insanity.
00:17:18.620 If this is how anybody lived their life, thinking that they had a solution that wasn't one and they decided to put all of their finances into that non-existent solution, they would be bankrupt and ruined in no time at all.
00:17:34.340 And that's exactly how this country is going with Trudeau's green energy policy.
00:17:39.120 We cannot subsidize a solution that doesn't work, that isn't going to work.
00:17:46.660 Electric cars are not going to sell.
00:17:51.000 There are more and more electric cars piling up in the car dealers because people know they're not a solution.
00:18:00.700 Last weekend in Ottawa, people were waiting three hours to recharge their cars.
00:18:11.900 Largely, that's a problem because there are no recharging stations.
00:18:15.180 But can you imagine waiting three hours to gas up your car?
00:18:18.380 I think you'd say, hey, something wrong here, folks.
00:18:21.320 But people were waiting two to three hours to recharge their cars in the freezing cold.
00:18:26.560 And when your car is out of power as an electric car, it's out of power.
00:18:31.060 No, you can't run the heater.
00:18:34.340 So this is a insane non-solution to a very real problem.
00:18:41.680 But all you're going to get from Justin Trudeau is talk about how Canadians are fighting climate change and how they're making such a difference.
00:18:51.400 And, of course, as I've said many times, Canada produces less than 5% of greenhouse gas emissions.
00:18:59.440 We have a very small portion of the global carbon footprint.
00:19:04.020 So even if Canada went back to the Stone Age and stopped living in a modern industrial economy,
00:19:13.320 turned off the power, shut off the gas and oil, and just retreated into caves,
00:19:20.460 we would have virtually no effect on the global carbon footprint.
00:19:27.160 So ultimately, this is all about politics.
00:19:32.280 This is all about the liberals keeping you distracted from what's really important.
00:19:38.040 And, my God, there are so many things that are important that the liberals don't want to talk about, do they?
00:19:44.140 So this is a warning.
00:19:48.240 Don't buy an electric car.
00:19:50.940 Don't buy into it.
00:19:52.520 We are going to ensure that gas-powered cars are still on the road in 2030 and 2035,
00:20:02.100 because threats to eliminate them are based on authoritarianism and insanity.
00:20:10.360 And it's not going to work.
00:20:15.260 And if you think your electric car is going to hold up in minus 40 degree temperatures for a week,
00:20:21.800 it's not going to happen.
00:20:25.220 And isn't it interesting?
00:20:26.700 While the mainstream media continues to applaud all of Justin Trudeau's efforts to fight climate change,
00:20:34.520 while they continue to run story after story about how Canadians are obsessed with, concerned about, worried about climate change,
00:20:44.780 they don't make the connection between the increasing backlog of unsold electric vehicles at the auto dealers
00:20:53.520 and the fact that electric cars are not a solution, that it's not going to happen.
00:21:01.660 And besides, it is virtually impossible to replace the battery because we can't make batteries fast enough.
00:21:11.940 We can't get the raw materials fast enough to make the batteries.
00:21:16.800 It is compounded idiocy, one thing after another.
00:21:23.440 So please continue to watch what's happening.
00:21:27.000 Don't fall for this hoax that we are in some sort of existential threat,
00:21:35.260 that we are facing the end of civilization as we know it within 10 years.
00:21:41.860 Al Gore said that 15 years ago.
00:21:46.240 Supposedly, the eastern seaboard of the United States is supposed to be covered with water by now.
00:21:53.880 But all of those good liberals still have their huge homes on the eastern seaboard of the United States,
00:22:02.620 like Martha's Vineyard.
00:22:04.060 Still not underwater.
00:22:05.740 The polar caps haven't melted.
00:22:07.320 It didn't happen because it's all been a lie.
00:22:14.700 And the heat pumps, you know, and Dan McTeague has said that on my broadcast,
00:22:21.940 that if all of the people who are eligible for a heat pump in Atlantic Canada get one,
00:22:28.780 get their free taxpayer paid for heat pump,
00:22:33.160 it's going to destroy the electrical grid in Atlantic Canada.
00:22:39.500 It can't accommodate all of these people plugging in their heat pumps.
00:22:46.740 So let us hope and pray for a day when we can stop being forced by an authoritarian Trudeau government
00:22:55.420 to do things, to make energy choices that are not only against our own interest,
00:23:02.840 but that are propelling Canada to catastrophe.
00:23:07.040 Because it's not just about energy.
00:23:09.840 It's not just about the environment.
00:23:12.140 It's about rising costs for food and other materials.
00:23:17.920 And if we can't grow food, if we can't produce food, if we can't transport food,
00:23:23.300 if we have vacant grocery stores, Canadians are going to starve.
00:23:27.400 And that's something to worry about.
00:23:31.880 Thanks for watching today.
00:23:33.760 I appreciate your input and your comments.
00:23:37.680 Please tell a friend or family member about Stand on Guard.
00:23:40.820 And I'll be back tomorrow with another edition.
