00:02:51.000 So there you Awakening Wanderers, thanks for joining me today for Stay Free with Russell Brand.
00:02:56.000 Is it me, or is that Mark Zuckerberg absolutely gorgeous?
00:03:01.000 Have you seen that beard on him?
00:03:04.000 That better not be a trick, Mark.
00:03:06.000 That better not be a trick.
00:03:09.000 We've got a lot of fantastic news for you today.
00:03:12.000 We're talking about, of course, have you seen this yet?
00:03:14.000 Have you seen that there are companies funded by the CIA setting up media organisations to accuse people of being pro-Putin agitators, when all we're doing, and I say we, because I'm one of them, along with Glenn Greenwald, Tucker Carlson, Mir Shaimar, our man Jeffrey Sachs, remember that guy who went, That time, saying that we are agitators on behalf of pro-Putin forces, when actually what I'm doing is advocating for peace.
00:03:43.000 I believe in peace.
00:03:45.000 Spaceman Spliff 1371, he made a beard out of my pubic hairs.
00:03:49.000 Are you claiming, Spaceman Spliff, that you are actually an AI entity?
00:03:57.000 Good, I need some good news.
00:03:58.000 Mike Johnson just sold us out for billions.
00:04:00.000 Yep, that's the 95 billion dollar bill that's just passed.
00:04:03.000 You better believe we'll be covering that later.
00:04:06.000 But will we be able to cover that on YouTube?
00:04:09.000 Will we be able to cover that on a platform that functions as one of the pillars of the establishment?
00:04:15.000 How do you feel?
00:04:17.000 About a political class that in the last couple of days has passed the Pfizer bill, meaning your government has got more surveillance powers, greater abilities to spy on you and us, because it's the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act or whatever the hell it's called.
00:04:30.000 They're spying on us.
00:04:31.000 They're spying on you.
00:04:32.000 It's extraordinary.
00:04:34.000 That's why we have to unify.
00:04:35.000 That is why we have to unite.

00:05:00.000 Our awakening wonders like Curious Camilla and Sensitive Hearts and Ash Ella and Miss Molly.
00:05:06.000 They'll tell ya!
00:05:07.000 That this is the community that's the answer to what you've been looking for, that vast void within you now, that pain you're suffering from, that pain they want you to suffer from.
00:05:15.000 We can appease it.
00:05:17.000 And how the hell could you say no to a fart mug like that?
00:05:21.000 Look at that crow fart mug.
00:05:22.000 Don't you want to drink Marky Mark Zuckerberg's pubes out of a mug just like that?
00:05:27.000 Of course you do!
00:05:28.000 It's only human.
00:05:30.000 It's only human nature, sweet Lord Jesus above.
00:05:33.000 So, we're going to be covering the incendiary event outside the Trump Troll.
00:05:38.000 Have to be careful, it's one of those things that's censored.
00:05:40.000 They do not like it when people make moves like that.
00:05:44.000 I'm holding it together.
00:05:45.000 My dog's really done a really, really bad fart.
00:05:47.000 I'm alone in this room, so I'm not lying.
00:05:49.000 If it was me, why would I bring it up?
00:05:51.000 Why would I bring it up?
00:05:52.000 I'm going to give him this, and he's going to think it's sort of a reward for the farting, which is sort of an odd move, really.
00:05:58.000 Also, in our book club, As Awakened Wonders, we read mere Christianity.
00:06:02.000 We're learning.
00:06:03.000 We're doing our best.
00:06:04.000 We're doing our very best.
00:06:06.000 So join us if you can.
00:06:07.000 And as I say, it's one month free, so if you don't like it...
00:06:10.000 You don't like it?
00:06:11.000 Gonna have to live with it.
00:06:13.000 Russell, you made some weird quotes there.
00:06:14.000 No, I never.
00:06:15.000 Sundown snowscape.
00:06:16.000 I'm talking to the people in our Rumble stream.
00:06:17.000 This is how it should be, the news.
00:06:20.000 We are working together.
00:06:21.000 That's why Rumble is a rival to CNN.
00:06:24.000 We're beyond CNN at this stage, aren't we?
00:06:27.000 We're beyond Fox News.
00:06:29.000 You can be with me.
00:06:29.000 24-7.
00:06:30.000 You can be in the Bongino army.
00:06:33.000 You can do what you gotta do.
00:06:34.000 I'm not drinking it.
00:06:35.000 Christopher John James, drink it.
00:06:36.000 If you think I'm drinking the Zuckerberg poo beard, You've got another thing coming, baby.
00:06:41.000 Let's have a look at, uh, you know, let's have a look at it.
00:06:43.000 And then there's a bit where they're really sort of, um, objectifying Mark Zuckerberg.
00:06:47.000 I'm not sort of down with really.
00:06:49.000 But we've got, as I say, the main stories we're covering is the Pfizer bill, the $95 billion that's been passed, and the Trump event outside the courtroom.
00:06:58.000 They've finally found the jurors.
00:07:00.000 All that coming up in a fantastic show.
00:07:03.000 As well as some fantastic reporting where we reveal how the CIA have been funding even Ukrainian media to shut down dissenting voices like mine, Glenn Greenwald, Tucker, all of that stuff.
00:07:15.000 Okay, let's look at Mark Zuckerberg's sex chin.
00:07:20.000 Here it is.
00:07:20.000 People like it, apparently.
00:07:22.000 Let's have a look at a video with the odd objection.
00:07:27.000 I was actually in charge of queuing that up and I still put it on over my own voice, so what does that say?
00:07:32.000 It does look quite nice there.
00:07:33.000 of Mark Zuckerberg. A screen grab of the Facebook co-founder's sports... He does look quite nice there and I do sometimes
00:07:40.000 in prayer I think come on.
00:07:43.000 Like, I don't hate.
00:07:44.000 There's no point hating.
00:07:45.000 There's no point hating because it's all within the ecosphere of your own beingness.
00:07:49.000 So we've say, like, you know, Mark Zuckerberg's on a PR drive, isn't he?
00:07:53.000 All of the BJJ, you know, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu and stuff.
00:07:53.000 Plainly.
00:07:57.000 They're sort of trying to, because people think he's not properly human, don't they?
00:08:00.000 I'm not saying that he's not that.
00:08:02.000 I'm just, and I don't even mean he's an interdimensional being or a cyborg or anything like that.
00:08:07.000 I'm saying like lacking empathy, mainly perhaps because of just sort of how he looks
00:08:11.000 or when he does that promo where he's in a T-shirt and everything.
00:08:14.000 It's more, and also how he was rendered rather brilliantly by Jesse, what's his name, in the movie.
00:08:21.000 Anyway, so he's on a PR drive.
00:08:23.000 I do be GJ.
00:08:24.000 I got this little sexy chin.
00:08:27.000 But I don't know if that's what's important, given that, did you see that?
00:08:30.000 Well, they tacked onto that $95 billion global war bill.
00:08:34.000 Let's have a war over in China.
00:08:36.000 Let's keep the Ukraine-Russia war going.
00:08:38.000 Let's make things yet more incendiary in the Middle East.
00:08:42.000 Also, ban TikTok!
00:08:43.000 Ban TikTok!
00:08:44.000 They're frying the kitchen sink of that thing.
00:08:46.000 Russell, are you getting a cold?
00:08:47.000 I've got a cold, but we keep going, baby.
00:08:47.000 Yeah, I've got a cold.
00:08:51.000 It's actually disgusting, isn't it?
00:08:59.000 That's actually disgusting!
00:09:01.000 Like, I'm a comedian, I've been in a lot of trouble over the years for a variety of things, many of which are actual total constructions and media confections and psy-ops from a globalist corporate state that can't stand dissent, and we've got plain evidence for that.
00:09:19.000 When it comes to Lee Fang's fantastic reporting on the CIA creating assets, which we'll be covering later.
00:09:24.000 And I think it's actually a bit rude to say, I'd zuck him off, just on the basis of a pun.
00:09:30.000 I'd, like, I'd zuck him off.
00:09:35.000 user gonna tell my kids this was jack harlow edit another oh come and zucker this berg chimed in what's going on the third person however mark's sudden glow banalization and is the banalization that means you know make everything dumb and desacralization that's the removal of the holy To make all things profane.
00:09:58.000 To make all things lack beauty.
00:10:00.000 So in the end, like, your whole life feels like the experience of being at, like, a McDonald's drive-thru.
00:10:06.000 Do you know what I mean by that?
00:10:07.000 Like, so that you're just sort of, like, you're in a transactional experience, godlessly travelling through a Oh, can I have a Happy Meal?
00:10:15.000 I'll take the nuggets!
00:10:16.000 I'll take the nuggets!
00:10:18.000 We've got some fantastic reporting coming up later this week on how big food companies and fast food outlets are lobbying your government to ensure that migrant workers can prevent ordinary Americans demanding a decent wage.
00:10:34.000 But let's see have a look at this banalization and objectification of Zucca burger
00:10:34.000 for their labor.
00:10:39.000 Isn't what it seems the original video can be found on Mark's Instagram page which by his bare face
00:10:44.000 Made it quickly apparent that the facial hair was actually the can be angry because I'm participating in it. I'm not
00:10:50.000 doing it anymore Because they did that on purpose, didn't they?
00:10:53.000 Like, this is promo for META, innit?
00:10:56.000 Well, let me tell you this about META.
00:10:58.000 They depoliticise their content so that people don't see political content, which is actually a political act, i.e.
00:11:02.000 they switch to switch on Instagram, didn't they, saying, if you want to see political content, which means content by our reckoning that's potentially dissenting and adversarial to the agenda of the globalist state of which we are plainly in arm, you have to do all this stuff.
00:11:19.000 Now, that's a bit of promo.
00:11:21.000 Ah, God!
00:11:23.000 Surely one can only sip from the fart mug to find happiness.
00:11:28.000 You can order your fart mug now.
00:11:29.000 There's a link in the description to get your fart mug.
00:11:32.000 Sip from the fart mug!
00:11:33.000 It's your only route to peace.
00:11:36.000 Uh, Boston Dynamics have made another terrifying thing.
00:11:40.000 Russell, you need a neti pot and some spicy Indian food to clear that up.
00:11:43.000 I do like spicy Indian food, and I also do like a neti pot.
00:11:47.000 That's like a little watering can.
00:11:48.000 You pour salt water up your snout hole, and it, um, you know...
00:11:53.000 It clears your nose out, but you always feel a bit weird when you're doing it because it's
00:11:56.000 like you're doing, well over the years I'm sorry to admit that I have ingested
00:12:00.000 powders up the hooter hole, but liquid, that's like Aussie Osborne snorting a line of ants.
00:12:23.000 And so we take another step towards hell.
00:12:26.000 A former leader of my country, Britain, is promoting a book on Fox News.
00:12:32.000 Note how she's not good at promoting things.
00:12:35.000 Look at me, how I do this.
00:12:36.000 Fart mug.
00:12:37.000 Get yourself a fart mug.
00:12:38.000 Remember, every penny we raise from the fart mug helps people with addiction issues get into recovery.
00:12:43.000 And if you want help, you let us know.
00:12:45.000 We're here to help you, baby.
00:12:47.000 Let's have a look at Liz Truss, badly, former prime minister of our country, promoting a book badly.
00:12:52.000 This is about two Sorry, here's my new fart mug available now.
00:12:55.000 Oh god no, what do you do with a fart mug?
00:12:58.000 Oh, what's that?
00:12:59.000 Help me!
00:13:00.000 She was in charge of a whole country!
00:13:01.000 Sorry, I'm a bit out front, there we are.
00:13:03.000 Yeah, congratulations.
00:13:04.000 Sorry, here's my new fart mug available now.
00:13:07.000 Oh, God no, that's... what do you do with a fart mug?
00:13:09.000 Oh, what's that? Help me!
00:13:11.000 She was in charge of a whole country!
00:13:13.000 She can't be in charge of a book!
00:13:15.000 Um, hey, you lot into the Tucker Rogen thing?
00:13:19.000 Do you think it's getting shadow banned on YouTube?
00:13:22.000 Y or N?
00:13:22.000 Are they shadow banning it?
00:13:23.000 Low numbers, right?
00:13:25.000 So, yeah, I guess we're saying that these are the two biggest figures in independent media, right?
00:13:33.000 And do you think it was getting shadow banned on YouTube?
00:13:37.000 Let me know.
00:13:39.000 Of course, the lawfare against Trump continues.
00:13:44.000 A matter that is of minor interest to some degree.
00:13:47.000 The appropriation of campaign funds to pay hush money to Stormzy Daniels.
00:13:54.000 There are a lot of people... Do you notice how the media always say, the historic trial!
00:13:58.000 Like, it's historic!
00:14:00.000 This is history!
00:14:02.000 This is actual history that we're watching now.
00:14:05.000 They're shadowbanning you too, Russ.
00:14:07.000 You better believe it.
00:14:08.000 We are being shadowbanned to within an inch of our lives.
00:14:11.000 But with your support and your loyalty, we will grow this movement.
00:14:14.000 They're terrified of us.
00:14:15.000 You see how that WHO treaty is falling apart?
00:14:18.000 Because independent media voices that are reaching you and the communities that we're creating together are opposing it.
00:14:24.000 So the WHO treaty, they can't get that stuff through.
00:14:26.000 Yeah, help our algorithm.
00:14:28.000 As SL Gribb says, hit the like button, leave comments, whatever platform you're watching it on.
00:14:33.000 And after the first 15 minutes, which is coming up pretty soon, if you're watching us on YouTube, you have to click the link in the description and join us in that sweet stream of freedom that we call Lady Rumble.
00:14:43.000 That can't stream in Brazil because they're turning it into a great nation of censorship.
00:14:47.000 Beautiful country, beautiful country, but there's censure in it.
00:14:50.000 It's already out of France because France wanted to ban Russia Today in case you saw a bit of Russia Today and went, oh my god, I love Russia now!
00:14:57.000 Let's have a look at this.
00:14:58.000 This is the historic trial.
00:15:00.000 Seven men, five women.
00:15:01.000 Let's have a look at how the legacy media convey this extraordinary tale.
00:15:07.000 It's very, very... It's just funny, I think, to watch.
00:15:10.000 Yeah, no doubt.
00:15:11.000 Tati Piel-Neal, they're shadowbanning it.
00:15:14.000 PooTube, you're calling it, Roy The Accuser.
00:15:16.000 Yep, yep.
00:15:18.000 Uh, oh, what?
00:15:19.000 Oh, sorry, that's why I pressed that.
00:15:20.000 Don't worry, that's a story we got later.
00:15:22.000 Don't read that!
00:15:23.000 Look away now!
00:15:24.000 Look away!
00:15:25.000 Trump jurors have been selected.
00:15:27.000 Let's have a look at that.
00:15:27.000 This morning, seven men and five women have been sworn in to claim their place in American history as jurors in the first criminal trial of a former president.
00:15:36.000 They include an investment banker who follows Trump on social media, a speech therapist who said she does not agree with a lot of his politics, ...a judge with a grudge and a little bit of fudge, a low-status music industry worker, a little boy with three toes and, instead of hands, hooks.
00:15:55.000 Who are these people?
00:15:57.000 And also I think that they're trying to make it sound a bit...
00:15:59.000 That's good isn't it?
00:16:01.000 their praises on them. A school teacher who admires how Trump speaks his mind.
00:16:06.000 A school teacher who said she admires how President Trump speaks his mind and a
00:16:10.000 woman in product development who said I don't like his persona. How he presents
00:16:15.000 himself in public. All of them though pledged to give Trump a fair shake. The
00:16:19.000 judge declared we have our jury. Trump eyed them all.
00:16:23.000 That's good isn't it? That's like him doing it.
00:16:26.000 And look at those guys. Listening to their responses with arms folded across his chest.
00:16:31.000 The day started with the judge excusing two people from the jury. An oncology
00:16:36.000 nurse said she had concerns about her personal information becoming public and
00:16:40.000 could no longer be fair and impartial. A grandfather was tossed for failing to
00:16:44.000 reveal his arrest in the 1990s for tearing down posters that prosecutors
00:16:48.000 said leaned to the political right.
00:16:51.000 The grandfather was my favorite one.
00:16:54.000 He was the one I was most into.
00:16:56.000 The judge also excused from the jury pool a woman whose social media posts called Trump a racist, sexist, narcissist.
00:17:03.000 When the woman read the posts in court, she said, oops, that sounds bad.
00:17:07.000 What that'll be, right, is Trump's lawyers will have gone through the jurors.
00:17:10.000 When the jurors come forward, all Trump's lawyers are like, let's check these people's social media history.
00:17:15.000 And then one woman, who had made it that far, had social media posts that said he's a racist, narcissist, psychopath, or whatever it said.
00:17:23.000 So...
00:17:24.000 Some of these jurors, at least some of them, will be people that are anti-Trump that are like, I'm going to keep it down.
00:17:29.000 In fact, didn't the news advocate for that?
00:17:31.000 I think CNN did.
00:17:32.000 If you're in this jury, Paul, why don't you just say that you don't care about Trump and then get yourself on that jury?
00:17:37.000 The truth is, is that the trials, the very fact that the trial is happening is an indication of the degree of partisanship because it can't really be legitimately and actually about what?
00:17:48.000 You use campaign funds to hush money Stormzy Daniels into silence?
00:17:54.000 This is crazy!
00:17:55.000 What are we going to do?
00:17:56.000 Let me tell you what real corruption looks like.
00:17:59.000 A lobbying industry that allows migrant labour to capsize the ability of Americans to demand proper wages.
00:18:10.000 What real corruption looks like is a 95 billion dollar bill being passed to perpetuate wars on free fronts, essentially acknowledging That it is World War 3 that we're embarking on.
00:18:21.000 Do you know what real crime looks like?
00:18:23.000 A Pfizer bill being passed that allows unprecedented spying on the American population.
00:18:30.000 This is the corruption that we oppose.
00:18:31.000 These are the real crimes.
00:18:33.000 And behind them, who are the real criminals?
00:18:36.000 Let me know in the chat right now.

00:19:35.000 Absolutely will not.
00:19:37.000 What?
00:19:37.000 That's a dirty name.
00:19:41.000 Listen.
00:19:42.000 We're going to be talking about that $95 billion foreign war bill being passed.
00:19:45.000 We're going to talk about Pfizer getting passed through your house of mad, corrupt lunatics.
00:19:52.000 Kristen, the code is I SURRENDER.
00:19:55.000 All in caps.
00:19:56.000 Like you're screaming it.
00:19:57.000 Like you're screaming into the universe.
00:20:00.000 I SURRENDER!
00:20:01.000 I surrender, Lord.
00:20:03.000 I surrender, Lord.
00:20:05.000 I surrender.
00:20:06.000 That is not vodka.
00:20:07.000 It's water.
00:20:08.000 That's Scottish water from Scotland.
00:20:11.000 That's proper Scottish water, that.
00:20:13.000 That's the best water on these damn islands, I tell you.
00:20:19.000 Okay, now listen.
00:20:22.000 As you know, your taxes are going to fund a variety of wars that will likely lead to a global apocalypse.
00:20:27.000 That's what's happening with your taxes.
00:20:31.000 If you try saying, I don't want to pay taxes, I don't even agree with the government, I think we should all stop paying taxes.
00:20:35.000 If you said anything like that, you are in some serious trouble, mate.
00:20:39.000 You start saying we're not paying our debts back.

00:22:29.000 All right, let's get back to this content.
00:22:32.000 Hey there you beauties you!
00:22:35.000 Well, that's the world where we can pay the minimum amount of taxes to these corrupt lunatics that accept donations, that receive lobbying dollars, that invest in stocks and shares of companies that appear to benefit from insider trading.
00:22:48.000 Not that I'm suggesting that actually happens, right kids?
00:22:51.000 One of the things we have to address is the fact that perpetuating war seems to be of a supreme benefit for someone.
00:22:58.000 How long can we continue to believe?
00:23:00.000 But we are supporting wars for humanitarian reasons.
00:23:03.000 Does that stack up?
00:23:04.000 Do you remember one of the things we learned in the pandemic period?
00:23:07.000 We have to.
00:23:08.000 We love human beings.
00:23:10.000 Humanity is sacred.
00:23:11.000 All human life is sacred.
00:23:12.000 And therefore, if there's anything we can do to save just one life of one elderly person, we must do it.
00:23:18.000 And therefore, we've all got to be locked in our homes, and we've all got to take this medicine.
00:23:23.000 Now, as an inadvertent side effect of that, I'm not talking about VARs or yellow card side effects now.
00:23:30.000 An inadvertent side effect is some of the most powerful interests in the world are going to get wealthier and it's going to get a hell of a lot easier to regulate and control the population.
00:23:39.000 That's a coincidence though!
00:23:41.000 I don't want you starting to put two and two together and making revolution.
00:23:46.000 That is the last thing we need.
00:23:48.000 Remember, become an awakened wonder to get an additional Video every single week.
00:23:52.000 We've got Schellenberger coming up soon, and Dr. Nails.
00:23:54.000 You're gonna love Dr. Nails coming up on Friday.
00:23:57.000 Schellenberger, you'll be able to... He's live.
00:23:59.000 Oh, it's gonna be fantastic.
00:24:00.000 It's gonna be fantastic!
00:24:02.000 Okay, let's have a look at this.
00:24:03.000 The house has passed.
00:24:05.000 Okay, so...
00:24:07.000 We know that the business of the establishment is war and business is booming.
00:24:12.000 The house has passed a 95 billion dollar foreign war aid bill.
00:24:18.000 They have packed together a number of extremely complex issues.
00:24:23.000 It doesn't make sense to me, not a bit of sense, that escalate intentions In China, or certainly between the US and China, the escalating conflicts of the Middle East and the Ukraine-Russia conflict can all be effortlessly bundled together.
00:24:40.000 Nonetheless, that's what's happening.
00:24:43.000 The bill is passed.
00:24:44.000 After months of delays in GOP infighting, the U.S. House voted Saturday to provide $95
00:24:49.000 billion to allies abroad, a major win for the White House and Speaker Mike Johnson.
00:24:53.000 In a rare move, Democrats crossing the aisle to help Republicans clear a series of foreign
00:24:58.000 assistance bills.
00:24:59.000 The package would provide $61 billion to help Ukraine fight Russia.
00:25:02.000 You've just added TikTok to that?
00:25:03.000 Yeah, we've added TikTok.
00:25:04.000 after Iran attacked the Jewish nation.
00:25:06.000 And 8 billion for the Indo-Pacific, where the rise of China has national security experts
00:25:10.000 worried a fourth bill bans TikTok if its Chinese owner doesn't divest.
00:25:15.000 What, you just added TikTok to that?
00:25:17.000 Yeah, we've added TikTok.
00:25:18.000 What?
00:25:19.000 What's that got to do with it?
00:25:21.000 Well, I'll tell you what it's got to do with it, is that TikTok is a site that is difficult to regulate for the authorities of the war establishment, the pro-war machine.
00:25:32.000 Remember, the deep state are spending money Condemning and smearing dissenting voices, ensuring that they're regarded as pro-Putin instead of anti-war.
00:25:44.000 Why is the TikTok ban bill tagged onto this $95 billion aid bill?
00:25:50.000 Let me know in the rumble chat.
00:25:52.000 Let me know, AwakendWonders.
00:25:54.000 Let's have a look at this extraordinary story and how it's evolving with some fantastic analysis here.
00:26:03.000 The resulting legislation The resulting legislation will give congressional sanction to the Biden administration's policy of global war.
00:26:12.000 The very fact that it will combine into a single whole the US interventions in three widely separated regions, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and the Far East, gives expression to a fundamental change in world politics.
00:26:25.000 The US ruling elite views its conflict with Russia and China as interconnected At Russia, Iran and China is interconnected theatres in the same struggle.
00:26:38.000 The initial stages of a third world war.
00:26:40.000 American imperialism, the strongest military power but a declining economic power, is engaged in a last ditch effort to maintain its global hegemony against any possible challenge.
00:26:52.000 Wow, this bill itself could be seen as tacit acknowledgement that we are on the precipice of a world war.
00:27:02.000 What other connection is there between these three regionally disparate disputes?
00:27:09.000 Well, you could argue that the military-industrial complex benefits from all free disputes, whether it's by continuing to arm certain nations involved in wars, Or whether it's escalating tensions in other regions, but perhaps the mentality behind it is one of global war, whilst acknowledging that as an economic power the United States is in decline, but as a military power they are still supreme.
00:27:36.000 And as the anti-TikTok bill indicates, By preparing to shut down an app used by 170 million people, in many cases to obtain information censored by the American corporate media, imperialist war is incompatible with democracy and freedom at home.
00:27:58.000 Stepped up domestic repression is a necessity for the ruling elite, both to silence outright political opposition and to impose on working people the enormous sacrifices, both economically and ultimately in human lives, that such a war will entail.
00:28:15.000 War against Russia, Iran and China Means a war against the American working class.
00:28:21.000 That's a complex and interesting idea, but the economic implications of this escalating conflict will likely weigh heavy on particular sections of American society.
00:28:31.000 And you will not be divided by religion or culture or skin tone.
00:28:35.000 You will be divided by your economic class.
00:28:38.000 This is once again a crisis For ordinary people, but an opportunity for the most powerful forces in the world, comparable to the pandemic, where for them it's an opportunity, comparable to the 2008 crash, for them it's an opportunity, for you it's foreclosure, comparable
00:28:57.000 To the 2001 terrorist attacks.
00:28:59.000 For you, it means that bills were created then that are still being passed, facilitating surveillance, an unnecessary war in the Middle East, causing millions of death and birthing new terror, not only into that region, but making it a domestic possibility in your homeland, in our homeland and across the world, creating yet more fear, yet more tension, yet more dread, yet more opportunity for the powerful.
00:29:25.000 The House passage of the war bill brought together the two capitalist parties, uniting them in support of an unlikely hero, House Speaker Mike Johnson.
00:29:34.000 This unity has been actualised on the central priority of the US financial aristocracy, global war.
00:29:40.000 War is necessary.
00:29:42.000 It's necessary.
00:29:43.000 Without war, they cannot perpetuate their systems of power.
00:29:47.000 They cannot perpetuate their dominance.
00:29:49.000 So it's not for humanitarian reasons.
00:29:51.000 We can't allow Putin's criminal invasion.
00:29:53.000 We simply have to support our allies in the Middle East.
00:29:56.000 We can't allow China to get away with this!
00:29:59.000 Now we begin to understand what this is really about.
00:30:02.000 The perpetuation of continued control, the subjugation of foreign powers, but significantly, the necessary defeat into constant supine states, the inhabitants of the United States, the American people.
00:30:18.000 House Democrats waved miniature Ukrainian flags as the roll call vote on the final passage of the funding of the Ukraine bill was carried out.
00:30:26.000 When it was completed, they began chants of, Ukraine!
00:30:29.000 Ukraine!
00:30:30.000 And had to be admonished from the chair to quiet down.
00:30:33.000 The supposedly left Democrats, such as Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez of the Democrat Socialists of America, DSA, and members of the squad, joined in in celebration of the Ukraine war.
00:30:44.000 Let's have a look at that.
00:30:45.000 Let's see.
00:30:46.000 Other way, other way, other way.
00:30:48.000 Let's have a look at that.
00:30:49.000 Let's have a look at that moment.
00:30:51.000 Indeed, there were only 21 members of Congress out of 431 that voted no against funding these perpetual wars.
00:31:00.000 Doesn't that astonish you?
00:31:02.000 431.
00:31:02.000 That's Democrats and Republicans combined.
00:31:05.000 And believe me, the Democrats and Republicans are combined.
00:31:08.000 Let's have a look at that list of 21 names.
00:31:12.000 Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican, Republican.
00:31:19.000 But those Democrats, that's the party of peace.
00:31:23.000 If you vote Republican, you're a warmonger.
00:31:26.000 Hold on, that doesn't make sense, does it?
00:31:29.000 Now, you know me.
00:31:31.000 I don't trust either party.
00:31:34.000 I do not trust the system.
00:31:36.000 But that's an extraordinary fact, isn't it?
00:31:39.000 Particularly if you tally it, as we have of course done, with unusual wells reporting on how many members of Congress will directly and personally, financially benefit from this war.
00:31:50.000 How staggering, how astonishing.
00:31:51.000 Let's have a look at that moment of the members of your Congress, whose wages you pay, Chant, clap like braying fools and animals at the expenditure of your money on foreign soil.
00:32:05.000 They are shipping your tax dollars straight out of America.
00:32:09.000 Meanwhile, the border to the South remains unregulated, perhaps because cheap migrant labour further destabilises the domestic population.
00:32:20.000 It's win-win for them and it's lose-lose for everybody else.
00:32:26.000 There they are.
00:32:36.000 That's your leaders!
00:32:37.000 That's your leaders.
00:32:39.000 That's the people that you voted for.
00:32:41.000 Those are the people that you pay for.
00:32:43.000 And they are very pro-war.
00:32:45.000 Let me know in the chat how this war is benefiting you.
00:32:49.000 How it's benefiting your sons and daughters or loved ones, relatives, husbands, wives that are in these fighting forces.
00:32:55.000 The brave people.
00:32:56.000 Tens of thousands of troops in the Middle East right now.
00:32:59.000 And yet more military personnel being committed to various aspects of the Ukraine-Russia conflict and we'll be covering that later in the week.
00:33:09.000 Saturday's votes demonstrated the most important reality about contemporary American politics.
00:33:13.000 There is no lesser evil in the 2024 electoral contest.
00:33:18.000 The lesser evil argument pretends to acknowledge the vast discontent with the Biden administration among millions of workers and youth while declaring that Trump would be still worse.
00:33:26.000 But the House actions over the weekend showed one party, not two, or rather two parties united for war, not only against Russia, but throughout the world.
00:33:34.000 The Democrats and Republicans agree on far more than they disagree.
00:33:38.000 They agree on war, on austerity, on bailouts for the rich, and as Chomsky said, Where both parties agree you have no choice at all.
00:33:47.000 Now I know a lot of you will be concerned about the apparent Ireland visit, so you can comb that out for yourselves.
00:33:56.000 The American working class must come forward to oppose the war on policies of the twin capitalist parties which threaten humanity with nuclear annihilation.
00:34:04.000 That Would surely seem to be the most important subject now.
00:34:11.000 The potential for those braying maniacs and lunatics for whom we pay,
00:34:16.000 who are so happy to facilitate the expenditure of your labour, your work, your toil, your graft,
00:34:22.000 your life into foreign wars, that are escalating catastrophe for all the world's people.
00:34:30.000 No one is benefiting.
00:34:31.000 No one.
00:34:32.000 It's a war for the elites, by the elites, funded by everybody else.
00:34:38.000 And that same political establishment has signed a bill extending warrantless spying powers in your country.
00:34:47.000 It's going to affect all of us because, well, that's the way it's set up.
00:34:49.000 Let's have a look.
00:34:50.000 Legislation has been extended.
00:34:52.000 That's pretty much what it said there.
00:34:54.000 Now, former guest of the show, Ram Paul, had some interesting things to share.
00:35:00.000 And indeed, I believe he is one of the few people, actually, I would not be so reductive as to say All people in Congress, all people in the Senate, all members of Parliament, all politicians everywhere, corrupt, get rid of them, because there are occasionally voices that resonate with you, aren't there?
00:35:17.000 You hear people talking in those rooms, in those halls, in those chambers of corruption, that make you think, yeah, they for a minute stopped chanting and praying for an unwinnable war that could be solved diplomatically, so less Ukrainian people would die, so less Ukrainian cities would be destroyed, so less Israeli lives would be Be lost.
00:35:37.000 Peace!
00:35:37.000 Advocate for peace!
00:35:38.000 Oughtn't the power of the United States of America, particularly as it's powered by your lifeblood and your life's work, be advocating for peace?
00:35:45.000 Or shouldn't you at least be allowed to vote for it?
00:35:47.000 I'd stay out of it.
00:35:48.000 I'm English.
00:35:49.000 If you had a vote, a nationwide referenda, hey guys, we're just about to pass a 95 billion dollar bill, it's your country, it's your money, what do you want?
00:35:57.000 How do you think it would go?
00:35:58.000 The fact that there is no referendum tells you all you need to know.
00:36:01.000 They know what you would do.
00:36:03.000 Luckily, occasionally, a voice comes to the forefront, like the voice of Rand Paul when it comes to the issue of Pfizer Section 702, who speaks clearly, compassionately, and eloquently on exactly the risks, and indeed, how the system works.
00:36:18.000 Make it delaying this vote until it's too late to do anything but obey.
00:36:23.000 And that's what they want you to do.
00:36:25.000 They'll only give you information if that information makes you obey.
00:36:25.000 Obey.
00:36:28.000 If that information is in alignment with their agenda.
00:36:31.000 Let's listen to Rand Paul.
00:36:32.000 The idea that we don't have time is a specious one.
00:36:34.000 The only reason we wouldn't have time is because the supporters of this bill delayed to the last hour.
00:36:39.000 We have five years to renew this.
00:36:42.000 We delayed it until we have four hours left, and then we're told we can't amend it because we don't have enough time.
00:36:47.000 That is a false argument.
00:36:49.000 The House is still here.
00:36:50.000 They're going to be voting tomorrow.
00:36:52.000 We should pass the good amendments today, send them to the House tomorrow, This is an argument that has been forced upon us by the supporters of FISA, who want no debate, and they want no restrictions, they want no warrants, and they want nothing to protect the Americans.
00:37:08.000 They want to allow whatever goes, whatever happens, happens, and to hell with the American individual citizen and the Bill of Rights.
00:37:15.000 I say, don't listen to the people who don't want amendments and don't want debate, and let's pass this amendment.
00:37:21.000 On this vote, the yeas are 31, the nays are 61.
00:37:24.000 Under the previous order requiring 60 votes for the adoption of this amendment, the amendment is not agreed to.
00:37:32.000 These are the kind of truths that we need to discuss and that need to be conveyed because it is continually perpetuating.
00:37:38.000 Stop supporting terror, Russell.
00:37:39.000 I am against terror.
00:37:42.000 I am against war.
00:37:44.000 I am against the fact that your deep state are funding Smear campaigns in Ukraine attacking voices like, well, Meir Scheimer, Glenn Greenwald, and of course me.
00:37:55.000 I mean, that I'm going to take personally.
00:37:57.000 American taxpayers are funding not only this war, $95 billion more, also they're paying to smear opponents of these wars.
00:38:08.000 So we ask, as you struggle to pay Fuel bills and escalating cost of living.
00:38:15.000 Are you happy to fund Ukrainian censorship of pro-peace voices and to fund the smearing of anti-war voices like mine?
00:38:26.000 Here's the news.
00:38:27.000 No. Here's the effing news.
00:38:29.000 Thank you for using Fox News.
00:38:31.000 Here's the news.
00:38:32.000 No. Here's the fucking news.
00:38:35.000 Good news!
00:38:36.000 Your tax dollars are not only funding a variety of global wars, they're also funding the censorship and smearing of anti-war voices.
00:38:44.000 And it's all included in one package.
00:38:46.000 Actually, it isn't.
00:38:46.000 You're charged separately for the whole thing.
00:38:50.000 Deep state agencies have found a way to censor and shut down anti-war voices even in Ukraine.
00:38:57.000 So there are Ukrainian media outlets making content to smear anti-war voices like this one, this voice now that's talking right now, this voice, my voice, as well as Max Blumenthal and Jimmy Dore and a variety of other people that are saying should we have a diplomatic peaceful solution?
00:39:12.000 The deep state are Let's show you how this works.
00:39:15.000 First of all, Max Blumenthal posted this tweet.
00:39:17.000 as if there's a concerted effort to ensure that war is continually perpetuated and anyone
00:39:22.000 opposing war is one way or another bought down, shut down and smeared.
00:39:27.000 And thanks to some great journalism, we can see the paper trail right from your pocket
00:39:32.000 and your hard work into silencing anti-war voices.
00:39:36.000 Let's show you how this works.
00:39:37.000 First of all, Max Blumenthal posted this tweet.
00:39:40.000 The state and National Endowment for Democracy, a CIA cutout, are funding shady NGOs in Kiev
00:39:46.000 to smear American critics of the disastrous Ukraine proxy war.
00:39:50.000 US government sponsored Vox Ukraine has a series of videos attacking me, Jimmy Dore,
00:39:55.000 Wyatt Reed for Ian, at Rusty Rockets and more.
00:39:58.000 Of course, you know which one I'm going to focus on primarily.
00:40:01.000 Here is a piece of content created by that deep state funded outlet attacking me.
00:40:06.000 Russell Brand is a British actor, publicist and broadcaster who began his career as a
00:40:11.000 comedian.
00:40:13.000 Brand leads an outrageous lifestyle and is constantly placed in all sorts of scandals.
00:40:17.000 YouTube has already stripped his channel of ad revenue for violating its creator liability policy.
00:40:23.000 By the way, we got that translated, to be fair, to the host.
00:40:26.000 She was saying it in Ukrainian.
00:40:28.000 So that even Ukrainian people stop liking me.
00:40:30.000 What's the value of that?
00:40:32.000 Now the channel has 6.5 million subscribers is devoid of monetization.
00:40:37.000 By the way, it became especially popular during the COVID-19 pandemic, when Brand began to spread conspiracy theories about the coronavirus.
00:40:45.000 Well, quite.
00:40:46.000 Conspiracy theories like maybe lockdowns haven't been correctly researched, maybe the vaccines don't stop transmission, maybe Pfizer and Moderna take too much money, maybe there's a revolving door between Big Pharma and the regulatory bodies that are meant to prevent them from exploiting the population.
00:41:02.000 There was a whole host of conspiracy theories that were peddled during that But let's focus now not on the corruption of the pharmaceutical industry.
00:41:09.000 I feel that you've been convinced of that.
00:41:11.000 Let's look at the military-industrial complex and how they work in conjunction with the deep state to take your tax dollars to shut down anti-war voices.
00:41:18.000 This is by the excellent journalist Li Fang.
00:41:20.000 You should follow him on Substack.
00:41:22.000 Ukraine's American-backed fight against Russia is taking place not only in the blood-soaked trenches of the Donbass region, but also on what military planners call the Cognitive Battlefield, to win hearts and minds.
00:41:33.000 I don't like the phrase Cognitive Battlefield.
00:41:35.000 That means your consciousness is their territory.
00:41:37.000 A sprawling constellation of media outlets, organised with substantial funding and direction from the US government, has not just sought to counter Russian propaganda, but has supported strong censorship laws and shutdowns of dissident outlets, disseminated disinformation of its own, and sought to silence critics of the war, including many American citizens.
00:41:54.000 Economist Jeffrey Sachs, commentator Tucker Carlson, journalist Glenn Greenwald, and University of Chicago professor John Mearsheimer are among the critics of both the left and the right who have been cast as part of a network of Russian propaganda.
00:42:07.000 But the figures targeted by the Ukrainian watchdog groups are hardly Kremlin agents.
00:42:11.000 They simply have forcefully criticized dominant narratives around the war.
00:42:15.000 Saks is a highly respected international development expert who has angered Ukrainian officials over his repeated calls for a diplomatic solution to the current military conflict.
00:42:24.000 Last November, he gave a speech at the United Nations calling for a negotiated peace.
00:42:28.000 Mearsheimer has written extensively on international relations and is a sceptic of NATO expansion.
00:42:33.000 He predicted that Western efforts to militarise Ukraine would lead to a Russian invasion.
00:42:37.000 Greenwald is a Pulitzer Prize-winning independent journalist who has criticised not just war coverage but media dynamics that suppress voices that run counter to US narratives.
00:42:46.000 What they mean when they demand censorship of pro-Russian propaganda is anything that questions the US-EU role in the Ukraine war or who dissents from their narratives, Greenwald has observed.
00:42:56.000 There is no evidence of Kremlin influence over their viewpoints, but their comments alone are enough for a network of US-backed Ukrainian media groups to tarnish these experts as Russian propagandists.
00:43:06.000 So, legitimate journalists like Glenn Greenwald and academics like Mearsheimer and Sachs are being tarnished as pro-Putin.
00:43:14.000 I've met that Jeffrey Sachs, I know Glenn Greenwald pretty well, and they're not people that Particularly, it seems to me, to have much skin in the game when it comes to geopolitical conflicts.
00:43:22.000 There, in the case of Jeffrey Sachs, just an academic, who said, well, actually, Noel, the history of Ukraine's quite complicated.
00:43:27.000 There was a coup in 2014, and like Mearsheimer, I don't know him, but I like his content and his academic work, and he seems to be simply trying to relay facts in a rather dispassionate manner.
00:43:38.000 And Glenn Greenwald is a brilliant journalist, who I care about as a human being, but Also, I don't imagine he's someone who would just, like, for a laugh, take a bunch of money from Putin or victimise Ukraine for no good reason.
00:43:49.000 These are all very credible professionals who I strongly suspect don't have powerful pro-Putin or pro-Russian views, are simply interested in telling the truth.
00:43:59.000 Note too that these agencies and their backers are centering voices on both the left and right.
00:44:03.000 So if you're on either the left or right, remember those distinctions don't matter anymore and we have to recognize that peripheral anti-establishment voices have to unify, put aside their differences if we're ever going to address this increasingly centralized and authoritarian power.
00:44:19.000 taxpayer dollars are flowing to outlets such as the New Voice of Ukraine, Vox Ukraine, Detector Media, the Institute of Mass Information, the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine, and many others.
00:44:19.000 U.S.
00:44:31.000 Some of this money has come from the $44.1 billion in civilian needs foreign aid committed to Ukraine.
00:44:38.000 While the funding is officially billed as an ambitious program to develop high-quality independent news programs, counter malign Russian influence, and modernize Ukraine's archaic media laws, the new sites, in many cases, have promoted aggressive messages that stray from traditional journalistic practices to promote the Ukrainian government's official positions and delegitimize its critics.
00:44:58.000 Unlike similar media development programs that the International Agency for International Development, USAID, had led throughout the Middle East, Ukrainian outlets tend to produce a great deal of English content that trickles back into the domestic American audience and explicitly targets American foreign policy discourse.
00:45:15.000 The new voice of Ukraine syndicates with Yahoo News.
00:45:19.000 Vox Ukraine is a fact-checking partner with Meta, which assists in removing content deemed Russian disinformation from Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
00:45:28.000 Detector Media has similarly led a consortium of non-profit groups pressuring social media platforms to aggressively remove content critical of Ukraine.
00:45:37.000 That's very interesting.
00:45:38.000 So, it's not just happening in Ukraine, although that video that we showed you a moment ago is in Ukrainian and therefore presumably for a Ukrainian audience.
00:45:46.000 Elsewhere, New Voices of Ukraine is being syndicated with Yahoo News, which is significant.
00:45:51.000 Vox Ukraine is a fact-checking partner with Meta, and they assist in removing content deemed Russian disinformation.
00:45:58.000 Now, of course, if you are Ukrainian and you're living in Ukraine, your opinion on Russia might be somewhat biased.
00:46:04.000 We are the interests of these CIA carve-outs in promoting particular views and participating in the censorship, not only it seems, of Ukrainian voices and improving Ukrainian independent media and archaic Ukrainian laws, but shutting down dissent from within your country and from within my country.
00:46:20.000 Don't we have the right to express anti-war, pro-peace and diplomacy views?
00:46:25.000 Again, I can't speak for those other brilliant academics and professionals, but for myself, I'm not anti-Ukraine and pro-Russian.
00:46:31.000 I'm pro not spending tax dollars in perpetuating unwinnable wars and am largely pro-peace and think that as a species we should have evolved beyond the point where we're teetering on the brink of a nuclear war because people won't sit down nicely and come to some mutually agreeable solution.
00:46:45.000 Congress is now weighing a new supplemental funding measure with approximately 60 billion dollars earmarked for the war in Ukraine.
00:46:52.000 A small portion of the emergency spending package is devoted to continued USAID programs in the country.
00:46:59.000 Information control is a central dynamic playing out in the Ukraine-Russia war.
00:47:03.000 U.S.
00:47:04.000 media have provided wide coverage of President Vladimir Putin's efforts to clamp down on critical news outlets, enacting new criminal penalties for those publishing false information about the conflict.
00:47:14.000 But far less attention has been paid to the Ukraine government's crackdown on independent and opposition media, a push aided by the U.S.-backed network of anti-disinformation groups, Even as Washington's efforts to censor information at home is drawing greater scrutiny, its support of Ukraine's efforts reflects the increasingly global reach of the American government's propaganda arms.
00:47:33.000 I wouldn't imagine that things like this were happening, would you?
00:47:35.000 That the CIA had carve-outs that were funding groups in Ukraine that were censoring American voices.
00:47:40.000 It's quite convoluted for something that ultimately you're funding.
00:47:44.000 There's an information war going on between Russia and Ukraine, and the United States is not a disinterested party.
00:47:49.000 We're an active participant, said George Beebe, a director with the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.
00:47:55.000 The US government has been trying to shape perceptions, and it's very difficult to separate what's intended for foreign audiences from what seeps into the Anglosphere media, if you want to call it that, including here in the United States.
00:48:07.000 We can't bring you this earth-shattering, paradigm-changing content without the support of our partners and without clear heads.

00:49:11.000 Click the link in the description.
00:49:13.000 Let's get back to the content, baby!
00:49:15.000 American influence in Ukraine's media environment stretches back to the end of the Cold War, though it has intensified in recent years.
00:49:22.000 Since the outbreak of the war, USAID support has extended to 175 national Ukrainian media entities.
00:49:29.000 Over the last decade, efforts to crack down on speech have been increasingly justified as an effort to protect social media from disinformation.
00:49:36.000 The US helped set up new think tanks and media watchdogs and brought over communications specialists to guide Ukraine's approach.
00:49:43.000 Nina Jankovic, the polarizing official whom President Biden appointed to lead the Department
00:49:48.000 of Homeland Security's Disinformation Governance Board to police social media content, previously
00:49:53.000 advised the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on its anti-disinformation work.
00:49:57.000 It increasingly seems, doesn't it, that the categories of disinformation and misinformation
00:50:00.000 were deliberately invented so that you could now have departments to tend to disinformation
00:50:05.000 and misinformation, and so that there could be budgets for those departments, and so that
00:50:08.000 those budgets could seek intermedia organizations that had a remit that includes censorship,
00:50:13.000 shutting down dissent in voices, smearing opposing voices, and cleaning up social media
00:50:18.000 platforms.
00:50:19.000 It amounts to censorship and smearing, propaganda and control, but it's so bureaucratically
00:50:24.000 entangled and framed in the language of, hey, we're here to help, in the same way as the
00:50:28.000 war is supposed to be humanitarian rather than some sort of colonial or for-profit endeavor,
00:50:33.000 The censorship project is always seen as somehow necessary to protect us and our apparent inability to determine good from bad unless someone pre-chews our information and parcels it up nicely for us, as is clearly happening here.
00:50:46.000 When Nina Jankovic and that government disinformation board was set up, I feel like there was a lot of pushback.
00:50:51.000 And a lot of people felt like, this isn't legit, this disinformation board.
00:50:54.000 They set them up in our country as well, the BBC run them and there's all sorts of various attempts to pretend that there are groups that are there to protect us and ensure that we only get information that's good for us.
00:51:03.000 I remember that many people thought, this is not legitimate, this is not reliable.
00:51:07.000 It was a bit of a PR disaster and they had to change its name and repackage it and reposition it.
00:51:11.000 Isn't it extraordinary to see Nina Jankovic literally outsourced to other nations to carry on the project as if it was a tremendous success?
00:51:18.000 Can you get any closer to neo-colonialism and imperialism than that?
00:51:23.000 We created this here in America.
00:51:24.000 It's worked so well, it didn't work at all.
00:51:26.000 We're going to outsource it so you can have your own!
00:51:28.000 Funding disinformation and malinformation boards.
00:51:31.000 That's how it looks now.
00:51:32.000 Remember when we often talk about how dictatorships now won't be militaristic, but bureaucratic, technological, anodyne and astringent?
00:51:40.000 Well, it's the same here with the methodology.
00:51:42.000 It doesn't look like tanks rolling into town.
00:51:44.000 It's like Nina Yankovic coming into town saying, we're going to help you with your misinformation and malinformation.
00:51:49.000 But nevertheless, these are methods and means of control.
00:51:52.000 And again, you're funding them.
00:51:53.000 It's an American project.
00:51:55.000 In response to questions about the US-backed anti-disinformation groups in Ukraine targeting
00:51:59.000 Americans, the US State Department provided a statement saying,
00:52:02.000 It defines disinformation as false or misleading information that is deliberately created or
00:52:07.000 spread with the intent to deceive or mislead. While noting that the US provides funding to
00:52:13.000 credible independent media organizations to strengthen democracies in the countries we
00:52:17.000 work in around the world, the statement declared, We do not control the editorial content of these
00:52:23.000 organizations. We're just kind of helping these guys.
00:52:25.000 Everything's sort of being done.
00:52:26.000 Here, there's Nina Yankovich. Get that down your neck.
00:52:29.000 However, disclosures indicate that the US government and its contractors tasked with
00:52:34.000 reforming Ukraine's institutions have directly set the agenda for Ukrainian outlets.
00:52:38.000 It's again, eerily similar to the rhetoric around the provision of weaponry or ongoing
00:52:43.000 events in the Middle East. It's none of our business.
00:52:45.000 Israel can just do, I don't know what they're doing. What happened exactly? And the same in
00:52:49.000 Ukraine. We're not at war with Russia.
00:52:51.000 Everything's sort of being done. They're just at a keyboard, just innocently.
00:52:55.000 Oh, that explosion. Oh, it's a genocide over there. Here, you might want to say this about
00:52:59.000 Glenn Greenwald. It's none of their business.
00:53:03.000 It's really odd and opaque and mysterious and frightening.
00:53:06.000 Immediately after Russia invaded Ukraine two years ago, the USAID dispensed emergency grants to its media partners, partly through Zink Network, a contractor based in London that's been accused of setting up covert public relations campaigns on behalf of the British government.
00:53:22.000 I wonder what kind of covert public relations campaigns.
00:53:25.000 The grant description notes that money went to the Zinc Network and Detector Media to assist the Ukrainian government with strategic communications and to undermine Kremlin information operations.
00:53:35.000 Last September, journalist Jack Poulsen reported on a leaked report from the Zinc Network's Open Information Partnership, which helps coordinate the activities of several anti-Russian disinformation non-profits around Europe backed by NATO members, including Detector Media.
00:53:50.000 The lengthy report defines disinformation as not only false or misleading content, but also verifiable information which is unbalanced or skewed, amplifies or exaggerates certain elements for effect, or uses emotive or inflammatory language to achieve effects which fit within existing Kremlin narratives, aims or activities.
00:54:09.000 Because I get a bit closer to me when I see terms like emotive and inflammatory language.
00:54:14.000 But what we'll tell you is that I'm not trying to fit within existing Kremlin narratives because I don't actually know what existing Kremlin narratives are.
00:54:21.000 Although I'll take a wild guess that they prefer that Russia's agenda were pursued globally and in regional conflicts.
00:54:26.000 But that sometimes converges with my general belief that we should be pursuing peace and not funding unwinnable wars that I don't know if that's part of the Kremlin's deal or not.
00:54:35.000 We'll look into it.
00:54:36.000 In other words, factual information with emotional language that simply overlaps with anything
00:54:41.000 remotely connected to Russian viewpoints is considered disinformation according to this
00:54:45.000 US-backed consulting firm helping to guide the efforts of Ukrainian think tanks and media.
00:54:49.000 I think that's all quite telling actually.
00:54:51.000 It's like they want to keep us in a sort of a flat bureaucratic anodyne environment.
00:54:54.000 Because think how that could be applied to a variety of subjects if this was allowed
00:54:58.000 You know, some of these organizations like Logically AI are working in your country in the lead up to the presidential election.
00:55:05.000 So if you've like got strong feelings and you use emotive language online on social media sites, that's disinformation.
00:55:12.000 That was some emotional language.
00:55:13.000 Hey, I don't like Like the way my country is being controlled by bureaucrats who just seem to want forever wars.
00:55:18.000 That was a bit emotional.
00:55:19.000 Well, I am emotional about wars.
00:55:21.000 Sorry, you are.
00:55:24.000 You can't censor people for being emotional and telling the truth.
00:55:27.000 That's censoring a type of person and a type of trait.
00:55:30.000 It's not about facts.
00:55:31.000 It's about how you express those facts.
00:55:33.000 If you're like just a good communicator, they're going to shut you down.
00:55:35.000 They'll get you one way or another.
00:55:37.000 But everything I said was true.
00:55:38.000 Yeah, but you actually did some quite good jokes in there.
00:55:40.000 So I'm afraid we're going to have to kill you.
00:55:43.000 Where's this coming?
00:55:43.000 Allegations that NATO is using Ukraine as a pawn in a proxy war.
00:55:45.000 identified as Russian disinformation follow this vague rubric.
00:55:49.000 These include allegations that NATO is using Ukraine as a pawn in a proxy
00:55:53.000 war against Russia and concerns that Ukrainian politicians are corrupt. Allegations
00:55:57.000 that NATO is using Ukraine as a pawn in a proxy war, do you not think
00:56:00.000 that's like a possibility?
00:56:01.000 Is that not something you would consider when they're involved in the 2014 coup,
00:56:04.000 when there are CIA bases all over Ukraine and that Russia is a long-standing enemy
00:56:09.000 in a war for global supremacy?
00:56:11.000 It seems perfectly reasonable.
00:56:13.000 Ukrainian politicians are corrupt.
00:56:14.000 That is also a matter of record.
00:56:16.000 Right, now we're getting there.
00:56:17.000 If you say actual facts that they don't like or they don't want you to hear, they'll shut you down.
00:56:22.000 So it starts off all very nice, doesn't it?
00:56:23.000 This misinformation could mislead people and lead them to make medical choices that are bad for them and their family.
00:56:29.000 And that's it.
00:56:30.000 That's the category of misinformation.
00:56:32.000 Also, though, if you say stuff that's true, but it doesn't work for Pfizer or Raytheon or Lockheed Martin or the CIA, that's also misinformation.
00:56:41.000 Also, though, we like NATO.
00:56:42.000 I mean, what's left?
00:56:43.000 This is what's left.
00:56:44.000 Thank you.
00:56:45.000 Yes, please.
00:56:45.000 No, thank you.
00:56:46.000 OK, I'll go to work.
00:56:47.000 Have my taxes.
00:56:48.000 But in the end, compliance.
00:56:50.000 That's what's left for you.
00:56:51.000 Compliance.
00:56:52.000 Ukraine's government has also worked with U.S.
00:56:54.000 government officials and others to censor its American critics.
00:56:57.000 One prominent example is Aaron Maté, an independent journalist who has criticized U.S.
00:57:01.000 policy regarding Ukraine in other outlets.
00:57:03.000 It's nice, it's just like reading all my mates.
00:57:05.000 It's like if this was at school.
00:57:06.000 Hey, I know him!
00:57:07.000 Following the Russian invasion, Twitter, under its old ownership, flagged Mate to be censored after the Security Service of Ukraine, SBU, and the Ukrainian intelligence agency included him on a list of accounts sent to the FBI that were suspected by the SBU in spreading fear and disinformation.
00:57:23.000 Fear?
00:57:24.000 I'm afraid you spread fear then.
00:57:25.000 Wait a minute, this is actually an abstract concept.
00:57:28.000 Sir, you just spread ennui and disappointment.
00:57:31.000 A journalist writing a critique on US involvement in a foreign war has had his name sent to the FBI.
00:57:37.000 Doesn't that concern you a little bit if you consider America's history and involvement in foreign wars like, I don't know, Vietnam, Iraq and all foreign wars ever except perhaps the ones against actual Nazis?
00:57:48.000 You would have questions, wouldn't you?
00:57:50.000 That shouldn't be, sir, someone somewhere has got an opinion on American involvement in foreign war.
00:57:54.000 Well, get that all the way to Hoover.
00:57:57.000 Mr. Vice President, someone finally bought a copy of your book, sir.
00:58:01.000 But that's something that should just be accepted in a democracy.
00:58:04.000 And the fact that it isn't shows you where we are going.
00:58:07.000 Just to have an opinion, just to write an article, just to oppose the powerful is becoming contraband.
00:58:12.000 And while they're doing it, they're telling you that they're helping you.
00:58:16.000 That's what makes it all the more terrifying for me.
00:58:18.000 When we talk about dictatorship, sometimes maybe it sounds hyperbolic.
00:58:21.000 Don't be ridiculous.
00:58:22.000 You're free to do as you choose.
00:58:23.000 There's a McDonald's over there.
00:58:24.000 You could buy yourself some candy bars.
00:58:26.000 But when a journalist writing about American involvement in foreign wars is flagged and his details are sent to the FBI, that is not freedom.
00:58:36.000 That's not liberty.
00:58:37.000 That's how you move towards dictatorship.
00:58:39.000 What's happening, it seems to me, is that we are increasingly moving in the direction of centralised power and being told that to question that process is in itself hysterical, hyperbolic, conspiratorial, but it's evident it's happening.
00:58:51.000 Like, if you think about it, Aaron Maté, I don't know if you know much about Aaron Maté, but he's like an intelligent journalist.
00:58:57.000 Like, hmm, that don't seem right.
00:58:58.000 You know, he's not like a lunatic.
00:58:59.000 He's not like, oh Russia!
00:59:00.000 That's not the vibe he's on at all.
00:59:02.000 You might, if you googled Aramai, what will come up is conspiracy theorist or nut job or grey zone.
00:59:07.000 But this is what's being created here.
00:59:09.000 What we're seeing is the machinery that discredits dissent and legitimizes, and more than legitimizes, normalizes almost invisibly the shutting down of dissent and the crushing of critics through Supporting independent media.
00:59:24.000 Do you think for a minute that a CIA carve-out is like doing some philanthropic work with... Do you know what worries me?
00:59:30.000 It's Ukrainian independent media.
00:59:32.000 Those underdogs can't get a break.
00:59:34.000 Well, let's get over there and support those guys.
00:59:36.000 Give them some dollars.
00:59:37.000 Send Nina Yankovic.
00:59:38.000 Nina!
00:59:39.000 But it's about control.
00:59:40.000 It's not about anything else, is it?
00:59:42.000 Suddenly it gives you a different context for what happens to a figure like Alex Jones who's controversial and rhetorically quite evangelical.
00:59:50.000 Oh well it's Alex Jones, he's crazy, he said all those crazy things about Sandy Hook, he should be annihilated.
00:59:54.000 Well now we know the CIA were involved in that and were guiding that.
00:59:58.000 Does the bureau practice entrapment a lot?
01:00:01.000 We get really close.
01:00:02.000 Not officially?
01:00:02.000 No.
01:00:03.000 We get as close as we can.
01:00:05.000 Now we know that the CIA are not only interested in zealous, evangelical, fanciful figures that are full of flair.
01:00:11.000 It's like now it's Glenn Greenwald is a problem, and Aaron Maté, and Jeremy Sachs, and Mearsheimer, like these sort of quite staid academics.
01:00:19.000 Alex Jones is crazy.
01:00:20.000 Oh yeah, he seems a bit crazy.
01:00:21.000 Puffy cheeks and that, that's stuff he says about frogs.
01:00:22.000 I don't like them putting chemicals in the water that turn the friggin frogs gay!
01:00:27.000 Yeah, crazy. And plus, Glenn Greenwald. Oh, what, like, was married to a man,
01:00:31.000 and didn't he like adopt a lot of dogs, and didn't he win a Pulitzer Prize? Yeah, he's crazy.
01:00:35.000 And Aaron Matty, what, Gabor Maté's son, who's like the journalist from Gatorade? Yeah, he's crazy as well.
01:00:40.000 So, obviously, things like the Alex Jones takedown, or maybe Joe Rogan ivermectin CNN, or maybe old Russ, these things are like sort of vivid, glaring, colourful entertainment style characters that are a bit crazy.
01:00:52.000 And then it's like credible journalists, academics, and you start thinking, well, what's the common thread here then?
01:00:57.000 Is it that these are sort of dangerous figures that are a risk to their audience?
01:01:01.000 Or is it that there's just some information that you are not allowed?
01:01:05.000 You are the problem in the end.
01:01:06.000 What they've worked out is if you have the kind of information that Aaron Maté or Glenn Greenwald or Jeffrey Sachs are conveying and spreading and populating, or in the more entertainment skewed aspect of this, people like me are talking about, then you're going to go, well, I'm not paying those tax dollars anymore.
01:01:22.000 I'm not participating in this.
01:01:23.000 And increasingly, that's what you're getting.
01:01:26.000 You're getting a situation where people serving in the American military are not pro-foreign wars.
01:01:30.000 I mean, once you get to that point, it's actually quite tentative.
01:01:33.000 So this has to become increasingly insidious and immersive to prevent its own demise.
01:01:38.000 Just months after the social media request, Ross Burley, a former Zink Network and Open
01:01:43.000 Information Partnership official now with the Centre for Information Resilience,
01:01:46.000 spoke openly about his desire to censor critics of the war, including Matteo.
01:01:50.000 Burley argued that social media platforms needed more responsibility regarding what
01:01:55.000 types of content to allow.
01:01:57.000 Even I saw Russell Brand, who has a huge following on YouTube, was interviewing a journalist called
01:02:01.000 Aaron Mattei on his channel, said Burley, who added that he is incredibly irresponsible for
01:02:05.000 YouTube and other social media companies to continue to host these people.
01:02:09.000 Well, by some eerie coincidence, YouTube, as you saw in that Ukrainian video,
01:02:12.000 don't know who funds that, demonetised me quite recently.
01:02:15.000 What a coincidence.
01:02:16.000 The organisation supported by the US government have also sought to silence critics inside Ukraine.
01:02:21.000 Before the war, in one of President Zelensky's first controversial acts to stifle political opposition, he moved in February 2021 to close multiple television channels over allegations of Kremlin ties.
01:02:32.000 Oh wow, so maybe those ties were not legitimate either.
01:02:35.000 In May 2022, the Zelensky government widely expanded his efforts to outlaw the political opposition.
01:02:41.000 Zelensky moved to ban 11 political parties over alleged ties to Russia.
01:02:45.000 So ties to Russia is like a sort of weapon.
01:02:47.000 Ties to Russia.
01:02:51.000 The function of it is to eliminate dissenting voices.
01:02:53.000 I feel like I have to continually remind you, I know Ukrainian people.
01:02:56.000 I don't want Ukrainian people to die.
01:02:58.000 I just think that probably the Ukrainian government and the Russian government and the American government and the British government are all corrupt and we'd be better off without them.
01:03:06.000 Later that summer, other bills to crack down on media rights that had failed to pass in the past over civil liberty concerns were brought back into consideration.
01:03:13.000 Among them, on media law's most contentious provisions, is the power granting a council controlled by Zelensky and his allies to ban media outlets without a court order.
01:03:22.000 Now they are a nation at war and again I would suggest you have a look at what Jeffrey Sachs says about how that war began and how they found themselves in that position and why there wasn't a peace treaty signed when one was available and during times of war censorship I suppose and centralized control is common and perhaps it could be argued under some circumstances necessary but If you remember, what we read and receive everywhere is that we are supporting this war.
01:03:45.000 What is one of the words you hear?
01:03:46.000 For freedom.
01:03:47.000 For democracy.
01:03:48.000 And whatever shutting down political opponents and media outlets is, it's not democracy.
01:03:52.000 It's not democracy when Ukraine do it.
01:03:54.000 It's not democracy when CIA carve-outs do it.
01:03:57.000 It's not democracy when they do it to brilliant journalists or academics or online YouTubers.
01:04:03.000 It's not democracy.
01:04:04.000 Free speech is a principle for a reason.
01:04:06.000 And you can see now that the creation of the category of misinformation and the normalization of censorship is part of a play to generate further power and tools to control the potential opposition to that power.
01:04:18.000 Ukraine's National Union of Journalists described the bill as the biggest threat to free speech in independent Ukraine's history.
01:04:25.000 They're also Ukrainian.
01:04:26.000 That's some other Ukrainian people.
01:04:28.000 Support Ukraine!
01:04:29.000 Which Ukraine?
01:04:30.000 The Ukraine that believes in free speech?
01:04:32.000 Or the Ukraine that facilitates massive weapon sales?
01:04:35.000 In the midst of the first months of the Russian invasion, many in Ukraine readily accepted the need for emergency government influence.
01:04:41.000 The Ukrainian government condensed the major television channels into a single United News national broadcast that continues today.
01:04:47.000 That's so sort of brazen, isn't it?
01:04:49.000 Dun-dun-dun!
01:04:50.000 United News!
01:04:51.000 What does that mean?
01:04:52.000 This is the only news you're getting.
01:04:53.000 Many journalists voluntarily paused critical reporting of the Ukrainian government to focus on coverage of the Russian invasion.
01:04:59.000 Now, over two years into the conflict, reporters are facing new difficulties in reporting on routine issues.
01:05:04.000 Journalists taking a critical look at the government are facing intimidation and threats.
01:05:07.000 Expressing viewpoints that run counter to Ukraine and NATO policies with respect to the war is enough to make an individual an enemy of the state.
01:05:14.000 And of course, you'll be aware, and perhaps in your mind, repeating the name of Gonzalo Lira, the American journalist who died In Ukraine, after saying he probably would die in Ukraine, whose name is seldom mentioned among other journalists imprisoned in foreign lands for writing the truth about the wars and conflicts they're reporting on.
01:05:31.000 So it seems to me that what we have here, thanks to Lee Fang's reporting, is another piece in the puzzle that demonstrates how media, the deep state, and powerful corporations work together to create an environment in which only their ideas are allowed to be communicated.
01:05:46.000 It's only because it's so brazen when it's pieced together that you begin to feel irked and outraged by it, because generally this is normalized.
01:05:53.000 The category of misinformation and disinformation and malinformation that you've heard here described as people speaking emotionally and passionately, telling the truth, is now a problem worthy of censorship.
01:06:03.000 Academics, journalists, prize-winning journalists, online YouTubers, all shut down for the same reason.
01:06:09.000 Not because what they're saying is untrue, but because what they're saying runs counter to the intentions of the powerful.
01:06:15.000 So next time you see someone smeared, attacked, shut down, you have a series of questions in front of you to ask.
01:06:20.000 What is the reason this person or this information is being cancelled, destroyed, or eliminated?
01:06:25.000 Is it in order to protect me, or is it because they are a part in a chain, however small or insignificant, that could lead to dissent, objection, resistance, revolution, and therefore prevent what seems increasingly like a global scheme for total control from reaching its terrifying climax?
01:06:41.000 But that's just what I think.
01:06:41.000 Why don't you let me know what you think in the comments and chat.
