02:56:21.340 algorithmically predict my next purchase. As a California resident, I have the legal right to

02:56:27.400 access the data a company stores about me, so I decided to request that information from McDonald's

02:56:32.740 to better understand what one of the major fast food companies is collecting about its customers.

02:56:37.620 A few days after I visited the McDonald's Privacy Rights Center and requested access, I received

02:56:42.240 515 pages in my inbox with an iconic golden arches stamped across the top when customers

02:56:49.920 sign up for loyalty programs that's why this is you normally it's like oh it's mcdonald's it's

02:56:54.140 whatever but this is all of them just so you know these loyalty programs we're not just tracking

02:56:59.100 your purchases you wait till you see all the kind of stuff when customers sign up for loyalty

02:57:04.080 programs like the one offered on the mcdonald's app they might not fully realize the extent of

02:57:08.080 which their data is being aggregated and used in predictive models. Also, of course, probably being

02:57:13.700 sold. McDonald's secret sauce is really commercial surveillance, says Jeff Chester, executive director

02:57:20.500 at the Center for Digital Democracy, a group that advocates for customer protections. Privacy experts

02:57:26.720 I spoke with said this level of detail is invasive, but it's fairly standard for how every large

02:57:32.220 company in the United States runs their loyalty program. So be thinking about that next time you

02:57:36.160 sign up to save two bucks this report contains specific pieces of personal information about you

03:00:43.560 i don't use my loyalty card at casinos i am convinced that they know who you are they know

03:00:51.220 if you've won or lost and if you have a win then they're going to cool you off and if you haven't

03:00:55.240 in a while maybe they'll heat you up it's just how it works you know they'll send you there are

03:01:26.960 over the years caught me off guard at first, the way it then uses the company's predictive

03:01:30.680 algorithms was what I found most concerning. The company predicted how many times I would visit

03:01:35.180 in the next six weeks, what I would spend on average, and how much total spend. One report

03:01:40.120 at Wired joked that McDonald's had created a minority report style dossier to predict my next

03:01:44.620 snack wrap purchase. Beyond the numbers, McDonald's also tracked a large Diet Coke as my favorite item

03:01:51.160 to repeatedly purchase. It labeled my core purchasing habits as getting a food-led afternoon

03:01:55.920 snack or an on-the-go lunch in the rush. Notably, the report also listed my attrition score as zero,

03:02:02.140 which could mean that Ronald McDonald sees me as a lifelong customer who is never going to stop

03:02:06.980 grabbing french fries and soda on the walk home. The 500 pages is kind of a wake-up call, says

03:02:17.240 privacy institute but it's not in a format that people will readily be able to understand again

After Elser proved her innocence with her own video from her Rivian vehicle and footage from her tailor near the scene of the crime, Sergeant Milliman's wrongful allegation and this video went viral. Taking a breath of fresh air in or out without us. We've learned Milliman was fired as a Jefferson County Sheriff's deputy in 2013 for failing to follow through with police work. A letter we obtained says he failed to take reports from
