Transcript

00:00:00.000 Welcome to Hot Takes, I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz.
00:00:19.100 We'll get to the vice presidential debate, clips, analysis, but first let's talk about
00:00:24.320 the news, the Commission on Presidential Debates, essentially making the decision to de-platform
00:00:31.180 live appearances by the president and vice president Joe Biden for the upcoming October
00:00:36.660 15th debate, saying that they instead want a virtual debate.
00:00:41.220 So like all of those Zoom meetings that you've been having with your office or your friends,
00:00:49.460 imagine that imposed on the presidential debate structure.
00:00:53.280 Here's my concern.
00:00:56.360 Are they really doing this, as they've stated, for the purpose of protecting Joe Biden from
00:01:01.860 the risk of coronavirus from the president?
00:01:04.340 Or is this an effort to create a platform where the moderator has more control, where the president
00:01:11.520 is not able to exert his dominance on the format the way he was live and in person?
00:01:17.120 The president now saying that he will not participate in a digital debate.
00:01:21.460 He is demanding the live, in-person performance.
00:01:24.560 I think that's smart for him politically.
00:01:26.720 I think that, you know, that makes Joe Biden look like he doesn't want to be live and in-person
00:01:31.960 with the president for other reasons.
00:01:33.460 If, in fact, the president is able to show repeated negative tests for coronavirus, for
00:01:39.680 the active virus.
00:01:40.800 Now, obviously, the president will test positive for the antibodies because that's how he seems
00:01:45.980 to be defeating the virus is through those antibodies.
00:01:48.600 And we certainly hope that process continues to go well.
00:01:51.660 And based on my knowledge of talking to the folks in and around the White House, he, in
00:01:57.900 fact, continues to get better and really is back to the full swing of things and full
00:02:03.600 focus on the country and what we need to do as Americans to defeat this virus, to open
00:02:10.340 up our nation, to restore our economy, and to preserve a safe life as we know it on our
00:02:16.800 streets in the absence of mob rule.
00:02:18.640 I think that's the direction that the country needs from its leader.
00:02:23.800 And it's what I suspect President Trump is doing each and every day to ensure that our
00:02:29.100 nation is still the envy of the world.
00:02:30.700 I think the Presidential Commission on Debates hopes that a Zoom debate would have less interruption,
00:02:38.060 would have sort of more of a virtual presentation feel.
00:02:42.420 But when American jobs are on the line and a president has to get eyeball to eyeball with
00:02:48.960 Xi, you don't get to Zoom in for that.
00:02:51.960 When we need these Asian monarchies to get their act together, to clean up their own countries,
00:02:59.440 to kill the terrorists that threaten peace, you know, themselves rather than expecting
00:03:05.180 the United States to do it in each and every circumstance at tremendously high cost in blood
00:03:09.660 and in treasure, you sometimes need to have that alpha male in-person presence that the
00:03:16.060 president brings.
00:03:16.920 And by the way, when I say alpha male presence, I've also seen that very effective with an alpha
00:03:21.980 female presence.
00:03:23.800 It's not gender specific, but in the case of Biden and Trump, you know, Biden is clearly
00:03:29.240 the beta and that was evident in the first debate.
00:03:32.920 And I think it's why the Commission on Presidential Debates was all too willing to accept a digital
00:03:38.680 format.
00:03:39.220 The president is not accepting that virtual format.
00:03:42.940 We'll see how it goes.
00:03:44.060 Last night's vice presidential debate was a good one.
00:03:51.080 There was a lot of policy discussion.
00:03:53.900 I thought the vice president clearly won the debate.
00:03:56.340 I thought he seemed in control most of the experience.
00:04:00.680 And that's not to say that Senator Harris didn't have a couple good moments herself.
00:04:04.960 I want to break down three parts of the debate, the virus, the economy and China.
00:04:10.420 Let's start with the virus.
00:04:11.940 Take a listen to Vice President Pence comparing the response of the administration to how the
00:04:19.380 prior administration dealt with the swine flu.
00:04:21.960 The reality is when you talk about failure in this administration, we actually do know
00:04:27.660 what failure looks like in a pandemic.
00:04:30.380 It was 2009.
00:04:32.300 The swine flu arrived in the United States.
00:04:35.320 Thankfully, it ended up not being as lethal as the coronavirus.
00:04:40.120 But before the end of the year, when Joe Biden was Vice President of the United States, not
00:04:46.860 seven and a half million people contracted the swine flu.
00:04:50.820 Sixty million Americans contracted the swine flu.
00:04:54.460 If the swine flu had been as lethal as the coronavirus in 2009, when Joe Biden was Vice
00:05:00.000 President, we would have lost two million American lives.
00:05:02.800 His own chief of staff, Ron Klain, would say last year that it was pure luck that they did,
00:05:10.540 quote, everything possible wrong.
00:05:13.320 And we learned from that.
00:05:16.060 They left the strategic national stockpile empty.
00:05:19.060 They left an empty and hollow plan.
00:05:21.860 But we still learned from it.
00:05:23.620 And I think the American people, I'm going to say again, can be proud of what we have done.
00:05:28.460 And Senator, please stop undermining confidence in a vaccine.
00:05:32.380 I thought that was interesting that the Vice President brought a lot of data to bear.
00:05:36.320 The criticism of the Trump administration in the era of coronavirus has largely been,
00:05:41.260 well, you know, they are over there operating on instinct and feel.
00:05:45.020 And there's this universe of technocrats who have all the data.
00:05:50.220 And if he would just put them in charge, then everything would be fine.
00:05:53.340 Here, I think Pence pushes back on that with data, with infection rates.
00:05:59.640 And I thought it was very effective.
00:06:01.780 And obviously, the Vice President knows his stuff.
00:06:03.780 As the chairman of the coronavirus task force, he seemed to be well in command there.
00:06:09.760 And with a path that puts our country back on a plan to reopen.
00:06:15.720 I mean, the bet here is that there are a lot more people who have been negatively impacted
00:06:21.980 by the lockdowns than have been negatively impacted by coronavirus.
00:06:27.240 And obviously, while even one death from coronavirus is not acceptable and is China's fault for the way
00:06:33.520 that they acted at the beginning of this disease that could have been contained,
00:06:38.080 we are at a circumstance politically where I think the candidate of lockdowns and shutdowns loses.
00:06:44.340 The candidate of reopen, use safety protocols, you know, follow the evidence on how we can do so in a way that is sustainable.
00:06:54.320 You know, that is the winning path.
00:06:55.660 And so I think that the Vice President was very good in that portion of the debate.
00:07:00.680 Also want to talk about the economy.
00:07:02.820 Senator Harris, she really utilized the Republican-Trump tax bill as the centerpiece of her critique of the administration's environment
00:07:14.220 or economic policy, I should say.
00:07:16.780 Take a listen to Senator Harris.
00:07:18.500 On the issue of the economy, I think there couldn't be a more fundamental difference
00:07:21.980 between Donald Trump and Joe Biden.
00:07:25.200 Joe Biden believes you measure the health and the strength of America's economy
00:07:29.700 based on the health and the strength of the American worker and the American family.
00:07:35.920 On the other hand, you have Donald Trump, who measures the strength of the economy
00:07:40.400 based on how rich people are doing,
00:07:43.140 which is why he passed a tax bill benefiting the top 1%
00:07:47.220 and the biggest corporations of America,
00:07:50.120 leading to a $2 trillion deficit that the American people are going to have to pay for.
00:07:55.380 On day one, Joe Biden will repeal that tax bill.
00:08:00.180 He'll get rid of it.
00:08:01.600 And what he'll do with the money is invest it in the American people.
00:08:05.320 And through a plan that is about investing in infrastructure,
00:08:08.420 something that Donald Trump said he would do,
00:08:10.040 I remember hearing about some infrastructure week.
00:08:11.980 I don't think it ever happened.
00:08:13.560 But Joe Biden will do that.
00:08:14.740 He'll invest in infrastructure.
00:08:15.940 It's about upgrading our roads and bridges,
00:08:17.580 but also investing in clean energy and renewable energy.
00:08:20.920 Joe is going to invest that money in what we need to do around innovation.
00:08:25.920 The Republican tax bill, while not perfect,
00:08:28.980 while I think too geared towards some of the K Street special interests that buy off congressmen,
00:08:35.420 it did work.
00:08:36.520 It did bring back capital to this country.
00:08:39.300 It did fund the wages of Americans.
00:08:41.640 It did lead to greater business confidence and consumer confidence.
00:08:45.840 And it was one of the cornerstones of building what was the strongest economy
00:08:50.280 that the world had ever known prior to coronavirus.
00:08:53.500 Vice President Pence also had, I think, very strong economic arguments.
00:08:58.600 I think this might have been actually his strongest portion of the debate,
00:09:01.980 talking about the onboarding of jobs, the negative impacts of the Green New Deal.
00:09:07.900 Take a listen to the vice president on the economy.
00:09:10.100 When President Trump and I took office,
00:09:12.160 America had gone through the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression.
00:09:15.840 It was when Joe Biden was vice president that tried to tax and spend and regulate
00:09:19.860 and bail our way back to a growing economy.
00:09:22.960 President Trump cut taxes across the board.
00:09:26.080 Despite what Senator Harris says,
00:09:28.760 the average American family of four had $2,000 in savings and taxes.
00:09:33.560 And with the rise in wages that occurred,
00:09:36.840 most predominantly for blue-collar, hard-working Americans,
00:09:40.320 the average household income for a family of four increased by $4,000
00:09:44.220 following President Trump's tax cuts.
00:09:46.860 But America, you just heard Senator Harris tell you,
00:09:49.520 on day one, Joe Biden's going to raise your taxes.
00:09:53.260 It's really remarkable to think, Susan.
00:09:55.140 That's not what I said.
00:09:55.640 I mean, right after a time where we're going through a pandemic
00:09:59.340 that lost 22 million jobs at the height,
00:10:02.080 we've already added back 11.6 million jobs
00:10:05.560 because we had a president who cut taxes,
00:10:08.160 rolled back regulation, unleashed American energy,
00:10:10.780 fought for free and fair trade,
00:10:12.460 and secured $4 trillion from the Congress of the United States
00:10:16.080 to give direct payments to families,
00:10:18.500 save 50 million jobs through the Paycheck Protection Program.
00:10:21.740 We literally have spared no expense
00:10:24.060 to help the American people and the American worker through this.
00:10:27.280 Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want to raise taxes.
00:10:30.020 They want to bury our economy under a $2 trillion Green New Deal,
00:10:34.800 which you were one of the original co-sponsors of
00:10:37.040 in the United States Senate.
00:10:38.480 They want to abolish fossil fuels and ban fracking,
00:10:42.420 which would cost hundreds of thousands of American jobs
00:10:45.820 all across the heartland.
00:10:47.400 And Joe Biden wants to go back to the economic surrender to China,
00:10:51.020 that when we took office,
00:10:52.640 half of our international trade deficit was with China alone.
00:10:56.300 And Joe Biden wants to repeal all of the tariffs
00:10:58.680 that President Trump put into effect
00:11:00.700 to fight for American jobs and American workers.
00:11:03.640 Joe Biden says democracy is on the ballot.
00:11:05.980 Make no mistake about it, Susan.
00:11:08.040 The American economy, the American comeback is on the ballot
00:11:11.900 with four more years of growth and opportunity,
00:11:14.920 four more years of President Donald Trump.
00:11:17.520 2021 is going to be the biggest economic year
00:11:19.940 in the history of this country.
00:11:21.180 How America will confront China
00:11:23.300 is also a critically important question
00:11:26.400 in the upcoming election.
00:11:28.360 Take a listen to the Vice President's comments on China.
00:11:31.920 With regard to China,
00:11:33.920 look, Susan, first and foremost,
00:11:37.280 China is to blame for the coronavirus.
00:11:42.320 And President Trump is not happy about it.
00:11:44.580 He's made that very clear, made it clear again today.
00:11:47.680 China and the World Health Organization
00:11:49.200 did not play straight with the American people.
00:11:50.900 They did not let our personnel into China
00:11:54.460 to get information on the coronavirus
00:11:56.420 until the middle of February.
00:11:58.820 Fortunately, President Trump,
00:12:00.880 in dealing with China from the outset
00:12:02.400 of this administration,
00:12:03.400 standing up to China that had been taking advantage
00:12:05.640 of America for decades
00:12:06.960 in the wake of Joe Biden's cheerleading for China,
00:12:10.980 President Trump made that decision
00:12:12.500 before the end of January
00:12:13.600 to suspend all travel from China.
00:12:16.400 And again, the American people deserve to know
00:12:18.280 Joe Biden opposed President Trump's decision
00:12:20.840 to suspend all travel from China.
00:12:23.660 He said it was hysterical.
00:12:25.020 He said it was xenophobic.
00:12:26.140 Thank you, Vice President Pence.
00:12:26.620 But President Trump has stood up to China.
00:12:28.820 We're going to continue to stand strong.
00:12:30.560 Thank you, Vice President Pence.
00:12:31.620 We want to improve the relationship,
00:12:33.000 but we're going to level the playing field
00:12:34.440 and we're going to hold China accountable
00:12:36.040 for what they did to America with the coronavirus.
00:12:38.680 And here's how Senator Harris responded on China
00:12:42.080 and how the Biden-Harris or Harris-Biden
00:12:45.560 or however you would say it,
00:12:46.640 how their administration would deal with China issues.
00:12:49.660 You know, Joe, I think he said it quite well.
00:12:52.220 He says, you know, foreign policy,
00:12:53.740 it might sound complicated,
00:12:54.940 but really it's relationships.
00:12:56.420 Just think about it as relationships.
00:12:58.760 And so we know this
00:13:00.160 in our personal and professional relationships.
00:13:02.360 You got to keep your word to your friends.
00:13:05.220 Got to be loyal to your friends.
00:13:06.540 People who have stood with you,
00:13:07.780 got to stand with them.
00:13:09.680 You got to know who your adversaries are
00:13:11.680 and keep them in check.
00:13:13.260 But what we have seen with Donald Trump
00:13:16.580 is that he has betrayed our friends
00:13:20.620 and embraced dictators around the world.
00:13:26.860 Let's take, for example, Russia.
00:13:30.220 So, I serve on the Intelligence Committee
00:13:33.420 of the United States Senate.
00:13:35.840 America's intelligence community told us
00:13:38.560 Russia interfered in the election
00:13:40.760 of the president of the United States in 2016
00:13:42.620 and is playing in 2020.
00:13:44.820 Christopher Wray, the director of the FBI,
00:13:47.380 said the same.
00:13:48.940 But Donald Trump,
00:13:49.820 the commander-in-chief
00:13:50.700 of the United States of America,
00:13:52.680 prefers to take the word of Vladimir Putin
00:13:54.840 over the word of the American intelligence community.
00:13:58.160 You look at our friends at NATO.
00:14:01.620 He has walked away from agreements.
00:14:03.900 You can talk, look at the Iran nuclear deal,
00:14:06.560 which now has put us in a position
00:14:08.480 where we are less safe
00:14:10.920 because they are building up
00:14:12.440 what might end up being
00:14:14.120 a significant nuclear arsenal.
00:14:17.380 We were in that deal, guys.
00:14:19.320 We were in the Iran nuclear deal
00:14:20.840 with friends, with allies around the country.
00:14:23.020 And because of Donald Trump's unilateral approach
00:14:26.020 to foreign policy,
00:14:27.780 coupled with his isolationism,
00:14:29.880 he pulled us out
00:14:31.440 and has made America less safe.
00:14:32.900 So, Susan, it's about relationships.
00:14:36.000 And the thing that has always been part
00:14:37.640 of the strength of our nation,
00:14:39.360 in addition to our great military,
00:14:41.560 has been that we keep our word.
00:14:43.020 But Donald Trump doesn't understand that
00:14:45.080 because he doesn't understand
00:14:46.640 what it means to be honest.
00:14:48.780 Now, here's the interesting thing.
00:14:50.860 I saw on Congressman Lee Zeldin's Twitter
00:14:53.480 the news breaking
00:14:55.400 that China actually censored
00:14:58.280 Mike Pence's answer that you just heard.
00:15:00.840 But did they censor Kamala Harris's answer?
00:15:03.680 Absolutely not.
00:15:05.220 That tells you all you need to know
00:15:07.120 about which administration you should trust
00:15:09.700 to stand up to China.
00:15:12.080 China knows that they have a friendly ear
00:15:14.540 in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
00:15:16.940 They know that their policies
00:15:18.500 will bring China closer to America.
00:15:21.060 But that doesn't make China more like us.
00:15:23.880 It just creates more vulnerability
00:15:26.400 and makes our nation, I think,
00:15:28.720 less resilient when we allow China
00:15:31.360 to send their students
00:15:32.900 to our colleges and universities
00:15:34.940 for quantum physics degrees
00:15:37.560 and high-end AI
00:15:39.260 and machine learning capabilities.
00:15:40.900 It doesn't make China more like us.
00:15:43.460 And when China forces technology transfers,
00:15:47.820 you know, that doesn't make China
00:15:49.180 more like the American businesses.
00:15:50.900 It just makes the Chinese businesses
00:15:52.580 more likely to steal
00:15:53.700 from the American innovators
00:15:55.260 the way they've done
00:15:56.120 with so many renewable energy technologies
00:15:59.500 that were initially developed here,
00:16:01.220 but where China now owns global market share.
00:16:04.660 And so there is the pro-China approach
00:16:08.180 of the Biden-Harris administration
00:16:09.760 embraced by China,
00:16:11.160 even broadcast on Chinese state media.
00:16:13.780 And then there is the realistic view
00:16:15.720 represented by the president,
00:16:17.740 Donald Trump and vice president, Mike Pence.
00:16:20.820 And even Pence's comments
00:16:22.920 that were true and accurate about China
00:16:25.620 were censored by the Chinese Communist Party.
00:16:28.720 This is the fight that will determine
00:16:30.480 whether or not the millennials
00:16:32.060 and the Zoomers will continue
00:16:33.500 to live in an America
00:16:34.720 that dominates the next century,
00:16:37.820 or whether or not we will have
00:16:39.280 a diminished America,
00:16:40.820 a less safe America,
00:16:42.500 a less economically viable
00:16:44.040 and secure and self-determined America.
00:16:46.360 I think the choice is clear.
00:16:48.400 And I think China is one of the biggest issues
00:16:50.700 in this election for young people
00:16:52.580 who want to ensure the greatness
00:16:54.140 of our country continues.
00:16:59.060 Binax now and results now.
00:17:02.120 That's the mantra for the new testing strategy
00:17:04.400 in the state of Florida.
00:17:05.540 Governor Ron DeSantis announcing
00:17:07.120 in the villages,
00:17:08.660 the deployment of a new testing technology
00:17:11.220 in Florida.
00:17:11.980 Take a listen to the video
00:17:13.240 put out by the governor.
00:17:14.220 Good afternoon.
00:17:14.860 It's great to be back at the villages.
00:17:17.200 I announced last week
00:17:18.420 that Florida was going to be receiving
00:17:20.640 large shipments of a new rapid test
00:17:23.740 done by laboratories
00:17:24.980 called the Binax Now test.
00:17:27.480 It's a test that delivers results
00:17:29.300 in 15 minutes or less.
00:17:30.940 Does not require the results
00:17:33.060 to be run through a lab
00:17:34.160 or any type of a machine.
00:17:38.660 U.S. troops in Afghanistan
00:17:40.400 should be home by Christmas,
00:17:43.140 according to President Trump.
00:17:44.980 Reuters has the story.
00:17:46.180 All U.S. troops in Afghanistan
00:17:47.580 should be home by Christmas.
00:17:49.420 President Donald Trump said
00:17:50.660 on Wednesday,
00:17:51.740 just hours after his national security advisor
00:17:54.020 said Washington would reduce its forces
00:17:56.460 in Afghanistan to 2,500
00:17:59.140 by early next year.
00:18:00.900 A landmark deal between the United States
00:18:02.900 and the Taliban in February
00:18:04.420 said forces would leave Afghanistan
00:18:06.440 by May 2021
00:18:07.820 in exchange for counterterrorism guarantees
00:18:10.880 from the Taliban,
00:18:12.560 which were agreed to be negotiated
00:18:14.420 through this permanent seats fire
00:18:16.480 and power sharing formula
00:18:18.340 with the Afghan government.
00:18:20.100 The Trump administration
00:18:22.100 and other officials have said
00:18:23.300 that the United States
00:18:24.260 will go down to between 4,000
00:18:26.700 and 5,000 troops in Afghanistan
00:18:28.740 around November.
00:18:30.160 Beyond that,
00:18:31.120 officials have said
00:18:31.900 that a reduction will depend
00:18:33.040 on conditions in Afghanistan.
00:18:35.440 On Twitter,
00:18:36.020 Trump said,
00:18:36.800 we should have the small
00:18:37.740 remaining number
00:18:38.520 of our brave men and women
00:18:39.840 serving in Afghanistan
00:18:40.780 home by Christmas.
00:18:43.080 Wouldn't that be
00:18:43.740 the greatest Christmas gift
00:18:45.260 one could possibly give?
00:18:47.140 It would put America first.
00:18:48.780 It would put our people first.
00:18:50.260 It would put our military families first.
00:18:52.200 And while I'm not super optimistic
00:18:54.660 about any guarantees
00:18:55.780 from the Taliban,
00:18:57.160 I understand that
00:18:58.660 we can keep our country
00:19:00.500 safer and more resilient
00:19:02.040 without spilling trillions
00:19:04.220 of dollars in Afghanistan
00:19:05.880 for decades longer
00:19:07.820 and standing over
00:19:09.100 the flag-draped caskets
00:19:10.500 of our best Americans,
00:19:12.640 our bravest,
00:19:13.560 some of our most talented
00:19:15.080 as they go out
00:19:16.860 and fight
00:19:17.320 in these godforsaken places
00:19:19.680 for, at times,
00:19:22.600 unknowable gain.
00:19:23.940 And that is not
00:19:25.120 just my commentary.
00:19:26.380 That's what we learned
00:19:27.220 through the Afghan papers
00:19:28.820 that were published
00:19:29.880 in the Washington Post
00:19:30.920 that well into this conflict
00:19:33.100 senior military officials
00:19:34.720 and leaders
00:19:35.260 admitted to one another
00:19:37.320 and themselves
00:19:37.980 that they didn't know
00:19:38.780 what they were doing,
00:19:39.620 that they couldn't define victory.
00:19:41.380 And in those circumstances,
00:19:42.680 it is simply not tenable
00:19:44.500 to maintain this conflict.
00:19:46.180 Now, there is bipartisan
00:19:47.600 disagreement
00:19:48.640 from this view
00:19:49.860 by the president
00:19:51.180 in the Congress.
00:19:52.480 Congresswoman Liz Cheney,
00:19:53.840 the Republican chair
00:19:54.680 of the conference,
00:19:56.100 worked with Democrat
00:19:57.260 Jason Crowe,
00:19:58.340 to try to impair
00:19:59.820 the decision
00:20:00.580 by the administration
00:20:01.580 to withdraw troops
00:20:02.860 from the area
00:20:04.340 of Afghanistan.
00:20:05.320 So as President Trump
00:20:06.140 is trying to bring troops home,
00:20:07.920 there is a bipartisan
00:20:08.900 coalition in the Congress
00:20:10.300 led by Republican
00:20:12.180 Liz Cheney
00:20:12.880 and Democrat Jason Crowe
00:20:14.560 to try to keep
00:20:15.660 the United States
00:20:16.360 in Afghanistan.
00:20:17.560 I think if that's
00:20:18.600 their plan,
00:20:19.540 they ought to explain
00:20:20.940 to the American people
00:20:22.180 what it is
00:20:23.040 we're fighting for,
00:20:24.100 what metrics
00:20:24.900 we're using
00:20:25.480 to determine success
00:20:26.960 because as a generation
00:20:28.900 and as a nation,
00:20:30.060 I believe we have
00:20:31.200 grown weary
00:20:31.800 of these Middle East wars.
00:20:36.460 If you're still wondering
00:20:37.840 about the corruption
00:20:39.160 that exists
00:20:40.300 between the mainstream media
00:20:41.860 and the political left,
00:20:43.480 there's a great piece out
00:20:44.360 by the Washington Free Beacon.
00:20:46.500 NBC News undecided voters
00:20:48.500 previously featured
00:20:49.700 as Biden supporters
00:20:51.060 on MSNBC.
00:20:52.960 So they hold this
00:20:53.920 Joe Biden town hall
00:20:55.940 with presumably
00:20:56.840 undecided voters
00:20:58.020 and literally
00:20:58.660 they have people there
00:21:00.100 who their own network
00:21:01.740 has featured
00:21:02.700 as supporters
00:21:03.540 of Joe Biden.
00:21:04.900 I mean,
00:21:05.180 not only
00:21:05.900 the collusion
00:21:07.440 going on there
00:21:08.440 to try to
00:21:09.300 basically create
00:21:10.320 a Joe Biden infomercial,
00:21:12.460 but just the lack
00:21:13.080 of self-awareness
00:21:13.980 that even their own network
00:21:15.560 had these people
00:21:16.660 on explaining
00:21:17.340 why they had voted
00:21:18.420 for Joe Biden previously.
00:21:19.840 So, you know,
00:21:20.940 shame on NBC News
00:21:22.520 for engaging
00:21:23.820 in this type
00:21:24.480 of obvious electioneering
00:21:26.680 on behalf of Joe Biden,
00:21:28.060 but it just shows
00:21:29.620 the real Americans
00:21:31.000 out there in our country
00:21:32.140 what we're up against
00:21:33.460 and how hard
00:21:34.520 we have to work
00:21:35.400 to share the truth,
00:21:36.540 to get the truth out,
00:21:37.760 to communicate directly,
00:21:39.040 to organize
00:21:39.900 and to mobilize
00:21:40.860 around America First principles.
00:21:43.420 They still are
00:21:44.140 the most popular principles,
00:21:45.820 but you see how hard
00:21:46.980 some of the America Last
00:21:48.380 media entities
00:21:49.220 are working
00:21:49.880 with the political left
00:21:51.180 to get in our way.
00:21:52.780 We shouldn't let them.
00:21:54.120 We should see
00:21:54.680 through the nonsense.
00:21:58.840 Did Ariana Grande's tweet
00:22:01.400 break the Florida
00:22:02.960 voter registration system?
00:22:05.900 That's the story
00:22:06.660 that the Sun Sentinel
00:22:07.820 has covered.
00:22:09.640 Skylar Swisher
00:22:10.680 has the write-up.
00:22:11.700 Pop superstar
00:22:12.880 Ariana Grande
00:22:14.120 contributed to
00:22:15.080 an unprecedented surge
00:22:16.600 in civic passion
00:22:17.580 in Florida
00:22:18.160 that left the state's
00:22:19.600 computer servers
00:22:20.500 struggling to keep up.
00:22:22.440 So on the last day
00:22:23.600 of voter registration
00:22:24.540 in Florida
00:22:25.100 at about 3 o'clock p.m.,
00:22:26.820 Ariana Grande
00:22:27.580 tweets out to her
00:22:28.660 77 million Twitter followers
00:22:30.840 her encouragement
00:22:33.000 to register to vote.
00:22:35.220 And that tweet
00:22:35.920 was retweeted
00:22:36.720 nearly 7,000 times.
00:22:38.540 Ariana Grande
00:22:39.180 ranks number 10
00:22:40.460 in a list of the most
00:22:41.360 followed accounts
00:22:42.360 on all of Twitter.
00:22:44.180 The barrage
00:22:44.880 sends all of this traffic,
00:22:46.380 1.1 million hits per hour
00:22:48.620 leading up to the state's
00:22:49.860 registration deadline.
00:22:50.900 Of course,
00:22:51.840 Florida then extends
00:22:52.860 that deadline
00:22:53.660 as a consequence
00:22:55.020 of the traffic
00:22:56.500 leading to some folks
00:22:57.580 getting error messages.
00:22:59.400 So Ariana Grande
00:23:00.320 getting folks
00:23:01.520 to the Florida
00:23:02.240 voter registration system
00:23:03.860 led to an extension.
00:23:06.300 Hopefully,
00:23:06.720 everyone who
00:23:07.500 is eager to register
00:23:08.700 to vote
00:23:09.360 and cast a legal vote
00:23:10.660 had the chance
00:23:11.520 to do so.
00:23:12.120 The persecution
00:23:16.500 of Michael Flynn
00:23:18.080 continues.
00:23:19.440 I want to give you
00:23:20.160 an update
00:23:20.740 on the case
00:23:21.660 reported by our friend
00:23:23.320 John Solomon
00:23:23.940 over at
00:23:24.500 JustTheNews.com.
00:23:26.160 Sidney Powell,
00:23:27.080 the great lawyer,
00:23:27.960 has filed a motion
00:23:29.200 to disqualify
00:23:30.320 Judge Emmett Sullivan
00:23:31.460 as a consequence
00:23:32.560 of the abject bias
00:23:35.180 and disdain
00:23:36.080 that he has shown
00:23:37.000 to the defense.
00:23:38.240 It is really far
00:23:39.620 exceeded actual bias.
00:23:41.360 It is unprecedented bias.
00:23:43.720 So we have not seen
00:23:45.740 whether or not
00:23:46.500 Judge Sullivan
00:23:47.100 will grant that motion.
00:23:48.420 He likely won't,
00:23:49.460 but then that creates
00:23:50.260 another mechanism
00:23:51.700 for appeal.
00:23:53.040 And it is ludicrous
00:23:54.860 that this prosecution
00:23:56.040 has continued
00:23:56.860 despite the Justice Department's
00:23:59.600 recognition
00:24:00.480 that there was no crime
00:24:02.380 by General Flynn.
00:24:03.580 This was all a setup.
00:24:05.360 It was a setup
00:24:06.000 over politics.
00:24:07.460 General Flynn
00:24:08.080 is an American patriot
00:24:09.700 and we all should be
00:24:11.280 thanking him
00:24:11.800 for his service
00:24:12.300 to the country,
00:24:13.180 not putting him
00:24:14.060 through this bullshit.
00:24:16.380 Thanks for listening
00:24:17.200 to Hot Takes.
00:24:18.000 I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz
00:24:19.300 and a while ago
00:24:20.420 I asked folks
00:24:21.320 on social media
00:24:22.200 and on the podcast,
00:24:23.840 do you think we should
00:24:24.320 change the format
00:24:25.120 as we prepare
00:24:26.380 to move into
00:24:27.140 a new year,
00:24:28.260 a new Congress
00:24:28.900 over the next few months?
00:24:29.940 Should we invite guests?
00:24:31.140 Should we go
00:24:31.960 to a video format?
00:24:33.100 And the results
00:24:34.160 were fascinating.
00:24:35.160 On Twitter,
00:24:36.580 online,
00:24:37.620 we saw,
00:24:38.760 gosh,
00:24:39.200 80-85% of folks
00:24:40.980 saying yes,
00:24:41.640 we'd prefer
00:24:42.180 lower frequency,
00:24:43.880 more guests,
00:24:45.000 more video.
00:24:46.200 And yet,
00:24:46.660 for those who
00:24:47.320 I think are probably
00:24:48.600 those who listen
00:24:49.360 to the pod more,
00:24:50.820 those who write
00:24:52.020 their reviews
00:24:53.020 like on Apple,
00:24:54.440 there's probably
00:24:55.320 more of a desire
00:24:56.140 to keep our format
00:24:57.060 like it is,
00:24:58.120 straight to the point,
00:24:59.680 talking about the news,
00:25:00.860 giving my perspective,
00:25:02.300 maybe have a guest on
00:25:03.640 every once in a while.
00:25:05.440 But certainly not
00:25:06.440 sacrifice the daily
00:25:07.680 element of the platform.
00:25:09.740 So,
00:25:10.360 a message received,
00:25:11.240 we'll continue to look at it,
00:25:12.480 think about it,
00:25:13.520 make sure it fits in
00:25:14.360 with the other work
00:25:15.300 we're doing to serve
00:25:15.980 the great folks
00:25:16.600 in Northwest Florida.
00:25:18.060 Make sure you do your part,
00:25:19.880 share our content,
00:25:21.080 subscribe,
00:25:21.900 leave a five-star review,
00:25:23.240 and make sure to join us
00:25:24.240 tomorrow for more
00:25:25.520 Hot Takes.
