00:00:01.000 The embattled Congressman Matt Gaetz.
00:00:03.000 Matt Gaetz was one of the very few members in the entire Congress
00:00:06.000 who bothered to stand up against permanent Washington on behalf of his constituents.
00:00:10.000 Matt Gaetz right now, he's a problem for the Democratic Party.
00:00:13.000 He could cause a lot of hiccups in passing of laws.
00:00:16.000 So we're going to keep running those stories to keep hurting him.
00:00:20.000 If you stand for the flag and kneel in prayer,
00:00:23.000 if you want to build America up and not burn her to the ground,
00:00:27.000 then welcome, my fellow patriots. You are in the right place.
00:00:31.000 This is the movement for you.
00:00:33.000 You ever watch this guy on television?
00:00:35.000 It's like a machine. Matt Gaetz.
00:00:38.000 I'm a canceled man in some corners of the Internet.
00:00:41.000 Many days I'm a marked man in Congress, a wanted man by the deep state.
00:00:46.000 They aren't really coming for me. They're coming for you.
00:00:49.000 I'm just in the way.
00:00:52.000 Today, Victoria Cardenas sat down with Congressman Matt Gaetz
00:01:00.000 to discuss the asylum and illegal immigration challenges Florida is facing.
00:01:05.000 In Washington, people are always talking about the U.S.-Mexico border.
00:01:09.000 But in a lot of ways, what we see here in Florida is the forgotten invasion.
00:01:13.000 Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz took to the skies with the U.S. Coast Guard Tuesday morning
00:01:18.000 to get a better understanding of the migrant crisis in Florida's coastal waters.
00:01:22.000 We are weak in the Florida Straits.
00:01:25.000 We are weak with the Bimini passageways just by virtue of our geography.
00:01:30.000 Over the winter, when the seas are relatively calm, the Florida Keys were inundated with undocumented migrants.
00:01:36.000 Governor Ron DeSantis sent the National Guard to assist the Border Patrol and local law enforcement,
00:01:41.000 while the Coast Guard patrolled offshore.
00:01:43.000 The Coast Guard is a small branch. We are a small but mighty force.
00:01:47.000 And that is why we have a Homeland Security Task Force where we work with our partner agencies.
00:01:54.000 In fiscal year 2022, U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered more than 35,000 migrants
00:02:00.000 trying to enter Florida illegally. In 2023, that number is already over 135,000, up nearly 300 percent.
00:02:10.000 The answer to illegal immigration isn't just to open the floodgates to seemingly limitless legal immigration.
00:02:18.000 The answer is to have strong borders.
00:02:20.000 The Coast Guard has been upholding its mission and it has been interdicting migrants and keeping these migrants safe at sea.
00:02:27.000 U.S. Customs and Border Protection did not do an interview for the story, but in a statement,
00:02:31.000 they are enforcing immigration laws and turning violators over to immigration authorities.
00:02:36.000 And while the Coast Guard reports they have seen a sharp decrease in migrant vessels as a storm season arrives,
00:02:41.000 Congressman Gates says more needs to be done.
00:02:44.000 The problem is that we don't yet have Department of Defense assets to be able to really integrate,
00:02:49.000 not only the intelligence that we gather, but the deterrence.
00:02:53.000 And Congressman Gates, who represents the Florida Panhandle,
00:02:56.000 is committed to ensuring resources dedicated to stopping the influx of undocumented migrants into the U.S.,
00:03:03.000 are protecting Florida's coast, as well as the land that borders Texas and Arizona.
00:03:08.000 Before we get into Haiti, I want to start by saying how much I appreciate the many Americans who chat with us,
00:03:19.000 see me on the street, and talk about Firebrand, getting updates about the truth going on in Washington, D.C.
00:03:25.000 That is the core covenant of this podcast, and it's something I'm very grateful to be able to share with all of you.
00:03:32.000 So whether you're folks that gather around at the Pavilion Assisted Living Facility in Niceville, Florida,
00:03:39.000 and I know you're there and watching, or whether you're even in the service of our government,
00:03:44.000 like many people I've met recently who appreciate that actual facts are reaching the people undeterred
00:03:52.000 and unmanipulated by mainstream corporate media.
00:03:55.000 So let's get to this issue in Haiti and the forgotten Haitian invasion of the state of Florida.
00:04:02.000 And it's important to have some background on Haiti.
00:04:05.000 Haiti is a miserable place, and it's been that way for a really long time, actually.
00:04:10.000 The key reason? Their government is corrupt.
00:04:14.000 And the people live worse than animals in some cases.
00:04:19.000 I know. I've been there. I've seen it. It was sad. It was horrible.
00:04:23.000 It was a treacherous state of the human existence.
00:04:27.000 And of course, we wish that the corruption that has harmed the people of Haiti didn't exist.
00:04:33.000 That the lack of fidelity from leaders in this country didn't result in people being this desperate.
00:04:42.000 But it does. So let's look at the history.
00:04:45.000 Think back to the days of Papa Doc de Valier.
00:04:48.000 He's the former president of Haiti starting in the 70s.
00:04:51.000 He was accused of embezzlement, money laundering, horrible human rights abuses, killing people, suppressing dissent.
00:04:59.000 Now, he faced corruption charges after his presidency, but died in 2014 before his trial could be concluded.
00:05:06.000 Papa Doc was a despot for the ages.
00:05:10.000 There was also John Bertrand Aristide.
00:05:13.000 Aristide was the former, or was the president of Haiti twice.
00:05:16.000 Probably guilty of money laundering on far more than two occasions.
00:05:20.000 He built a system that isolated him from any formal charges.
00:05:25.000 But the grift was pretty obvious with Aristide, who lived quite the lavish lifestyle.
00:05:30.000 Then there's Baby Doc de Valier.
00:05:32.000 This is the son of Papa Doc.
00:05:34.000 He succeeded his father as president of Haiti.
00:05:37.000 Baby Doc was another one of these dictators who killed people, slaughtered people.
00:05:44.000 He was actually forced to live in exile in France until his return to Haiti in 2011.
00:05:51.000 It was actually Baby Doc, not Papa Doc, who died before his trial.
00:05:56.000 Then there was Michael Martelli.
00:05:58.000 He was president of Haiti, and though he wasn't personally implicated in corruption,
00:06:03.000 so many of his high-ranking officials faced corruption allegations that he had built this ecosystem
00:06:10.000 where nepotism, money laundering, theft occurred on a regular basis.
00:06:16.000 Then there was Laurent Lamothe, former prime minister of Haiti from 2012 to 2014.
00:06:22.000 Lamothe resigned from this position amidst allegations of corruption and protests from the people demanding his removal.
00:06:29.000 There was even Jean-Max Belved, I'm sorry, Belarive.
00:06:34.000 Belarive was president of Haiti from 2009 to 2011.
00:06:37.000 And there, there were all kinds of problems with the mismanagement of funds related to the earthquake that occurred.
00:06:45.000 Now, following 2010, there was money flowing into Haiti, but my goodness, it didn't really get to the people.
00:06:52.000 It was absorbed by the leadership.
00:06:54.000 When it comes to political leadership, we have established Haiti isn't sending their best.
00:07:00.000 Sometimes they aren't sending their best to Florida by the thousands on desperate floating rafts either.
00:07:07.000 According to a study conducted by the Cato Institute in 2021, illegal Haitian immigrants have an incarceration rate of 4.4%.
00:07:18.000 That is higher than any other group of illegal immigrants.
00:07:22.000 Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, and its citizens have long been seeking a better life.
00:07:28.000 In recent years, Florida has become the major destination for Haitian migrants.
00:07:34.000 And more than you would guess, certainly more than our own government actually knows.
00:07:39.000 They're coming across the southern border with Mexico.
00:07:42.000 They're also coming through the Florida Straits and through the Bahamian and Bimini passageways.
00:07:47.000 This is because you haven't seen the same attention to what's going on in Florida that you've seen on our southern border.
00:07:55.000 And now the influx of Haitian migrants has had a significant impact on Florida's school systems, jails, hospitals, social services.
00:08:04.000 In schools, Haitian students often face all kinds of barriers, language barriers, cultural barriers,
00:08:10.000 and it makes it impossible for our teachers or other students to succeed in that type of an environment.
00:08:18.000 35% of all Haitian students won't graduate from high school.
00:08:22.000 You will see many of them again in the juvenile justice system or worse.
00:08:26.000 So that percentage is 150 times worse as far as not finishing dropping out than non-Haitian immigrant counterparts.
00:08:35.000 Haitian immigrants are also overrepresented in Florida's jails.
00:08:38.000 A 2017 study by the Florida Department of Corrections found that Haitians make up 10% of the jails,
00:08:44.000 of the state's jail population, even though they account for only about 1% of the state's population.
00:08:50.000 They're batting at 10 times their population rate when it comes to the Department of Corrections.
00:08:55.000 That means billions of dollars in extra costs for Florida taxpayers to lock up Haiti's criminals.
00:09:03.000 Haitian migrants also have higher rates of chronic death conditions such as HIV, AIDS, and tuberculosis.
00:09:10.000 This is due to a number of factors including poverty, lack of access to health care, exposure to violence and trauma in Haiti.
00:09:17.000 As a result, Haitian migrants place a significant burden on Florida's hospitals, social services, public health services.
00:09:26.000 A 2018 study by the Florida Department of Health found that Haitians had a higher rate of HIV, AIDS, than any other ethnic group in the state.
00:09:34.000 The impact of the Haitian migration on Florida's social services, very significant.
00:09:39.000 Haitian migrants are more likely to use food stamps, Medicaid, and other social services than their native-born peers.
00:09:46.000 A 2019 study by the Florida Department of Children and Families found that Haitian children were more likely to be living in poverty than any other ethnic group in our state.
00:09:56.000 Here's the problem. The real invasion numbers have gotten significantly worse under Joe Biden.
00:10:04.000 In fiscal year 2022, over 4,000 Haitians were interdicted at sea by the U.S. Coast Guard, an 800% increase since 2020.
00:10:13.000 And there are many, many more that aren't being interdicted and that are arriving at our shores.
00:10:19.000 And unlike those who cross illegally on the southern border who are dispersed throughout the country,
00:10:24.000 these thousands and thousands of people are frequently congregating in specific areas in southeast Florida that are being overrun.
00:10:32.000 And it's not good for anyone, as you see from the data.
00:10:35.000 Now, there's an obvious solution to this.
00:10:38.000 We surge resources, use the U.S. Navy if necessary,
00:10:43.000 and send every last person who tries to get here in these particular illegal ways back home to Haiti.
00:10:52.000 It's enforcement of our borders.
00:10:54.000 It's pushing our borders out through the use of those military border patrol assets,
00:10:59.000 working at every level of government.
00:11:02.000 But it also means internal enforcement of our immigration laws.
00:11:06.000 The people who came here this way cannot stay illegally forever.
00:11:10.000 And we certainly cannot create some gaslit system of pathway to legal status or to citizenship
00:11:18.000 when these are the challenges that our people are facing as a consequence of this migration.
00:11:24.000 I also want to give you an important update today regarding Ukraine.
00:11:29.000 Take a listen.
00:11:32.000 And later this week, we'll roll out our next presidential drawdown package of weapons, ammunition, and equipment for Ukraine.
00:11:40.000 More HIMARS munitions, precision-guided artillery ammunition, and tactical vehicles, and other urgently needed support.
00:11:49.000 Today, I'm announcing that the United States will be sending 31 Abram tanks to Ukraine,
00:11:55.000 the equivalent of one Ukrainian battalion.
00:11:58.000 Secretary Austin has recommended this step because it will enhance the Ukraine's capacity
00:12:03.000 to defend its territory and achieve its strategic objectives.
00:12:07.000 Last week, President Biden announced that the United States will support a joint effort with our allies and partners
00:12:13.000 to train Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation aircraft, including F-16s.
00:12:18.000 Today, the Biden administration announcing it will provide a controversial new weapon to Ukraine, cluster munitions.
00:12:25.000 Ukraine has been asking the U.S. for the cluster bomb since last year.
00:12:30.000 President Biden today explaining why now.
00:12:33.000 The Ukrainians are running out of ammunition.
00:12:35.000 Specifically, artillery rounds.
00:12:37.000 Allies struggling to keep them supplied as they fight through a tough counteroffensive.
00:12:42.000 And so we want to make sure that the Ukrainians have sufficient artillery to keep them in the fight in the context of the current counteroffensive.
00:12:51.000 We are back live.
00:12:53.000 Katrina on Rumble says we have got to start covering the Biden family corruption.
00:12:57.000 And I think that's, frankly, pretty linked to Ukraine and all the things that we're doing there
00:13:02.000 and all of the just excessive and expensive U.S. involvement that is certainly not warranted with a focus on our people and our interests.
00:13:11.000 But let's get back to the weapons.
00:13:14.000 What do Stinger missiles, HIMARS, Abrams tanks, F-16s, ATAKAMs, and Vietnam-era cluster bombs have in common?
00:13:25.000 Biden said he wouldn't send each of these things to Ukraine.
00:13:29.000 He said that they would be escalatory or inhumane in different ways.
00:13:33.000 And now, every one of these systems is going to be utilized by Ukraine.
00:13:40.000 And the U.S. is involved in one way or another.
00:13:43.000 Now, if Joe Biden were to wake up tomorrow and say that we are not sending nuclear weapons to Ukraine, call your loved ones.
00:13:54.000 Because that would probably be the strongest evidence that that's the very next thing that we are going to do.
00:13:59.000 But it's not just Democrats who participate in this ruse and I think are deeply misguided on the substance of the policy of these matters.
00:14:08.000 Here's House Republican Foreign Affairs Chairman Mike McCaul with Jake Tapper on CNN's State of the Union yesterday.
00:14:15.000 Do you have any reservations about giving cluster bombs to Ukraine?
00:14:21.000 Well, you're right.
00:14:24.000 Geneva Convention, there are signatories to that convention who do not agree with these munitions.
00:14:31.000 We are not a signatory to the Geneva Convention on cluster munitions.
00:14:36.000 Neither is Ukraine.
00:14:38.000 And by the way, Russia is dropping with impunity cluster bombs in Ukraine, in the country of Ukraine right now.
00:14:46.000 Now, all the Ukrainians and Zelensky are asking for is to give them the same weapons the Russians have to use in their own country against Russians who are in their own country.
00:14:57.000 They're they do not want these to be used in Russia.
00:15:00.000 They want these as self-defense to use against Russians in their own country of Ukraine.
00:15:04.000 I don't see anything wrong with that because quite honestly, Jake, as you look at the counter offensive, it's been slowed tremendously because this administration has been so slow to get the weapons in.
00:15:15.000 These weapons would be a game changer.
00:15:18.000 They are highly effective and particularly hitting flanks of troops inside of Ukraine.
00:15:25.000 They would be a game changer in the counter offensive.
00:15:28.000 And I'm really pleased the administration has finally agreed to do this.
00:15:32.000 We're back live.
00:15:36.000 Chairman McCall is right about one thing.
00:15:38.000 Sending cluster bombs to Ukraine is absolutely a chain game changer, but not for the reasons he thinks it is unnecessarily escalatory and deadly.
00:15:48.000 So let's break down the two arguments that McCall makes in that clip.
00:15:52.000 First, he says, well, I mean, we we have to send cluster bombs to Ukraine because that's what Russia has.
00:15:58.000 Are you kidding me?
00:16:01.000 By that standard, what are we sending the nuclear weapons, the tactical nukes next?
00:16:06.000 That is crazy talk.
00:16:08.000 The notion that the obligation of the United States of America in this conflict is to bring Ukraine into military parity with Russia is unreasonable.
00:16:19.000 It's a different kind of fight as a defensive fight and cluster bombs are a terrible idea.
00:16:25.000 His next argument is, well, they're using them on their own country.
00:16:28.000 Really?
00:16:29.000 We've already seen Ukraine engage in attacks inside Russia.
00:16:33.000 And we've seen the very same neoconservatives and Bidenites supporting that, saying that they have a right to attack supply chains in Russia.
00:16:40.000 So by what power lever are we going to control the utilization of these cluster bombs after they leave?
00:16:48.000 And what if they are used in Russia?
00:16:50.000 What will we do then?
00:16:51.000 Because we'll be in a position where we would be in direct conflict with a global power, a near peer adversary, as all of the generals like to tell us in briefings.
00:17:03.000 Cluster bombs.
00:17:04.000 Think about that.
00:17:05.000 Right now, we are still cleaning up cluster bombs in Laos following the Vietnam War era.
00:17:11.000 Cluster bombs are indiscriminate.
00:17:13.000 They will kill innocents anywhere they are used.
00:17:16.000 And also, they have a high dud rate, which means that there are a number of these that will deploy out of an aircraft, hit the ground, and then explode later when found by some innocent person.
00:17:28.000 And that is a fact.
00:17:29.000 That is exactly what has happened.
00:17:31.000 Now, the fact that the Ukrainian leadership would even contemplate using cluster bombs in their own country goes from irresponsible to downright depraved.
00:17:43.000 A Democrat ranking member of the Rules Committee, Jim McGovern, even filed legislation to functionally ban the export of cluster bombs from the United States for, like, any reason.
00:17:56.000 And so every Democrat needs to be counted now.
00:18:00.000 Do you really stand for this?
00:18:02.000 Are you for Biden sending cluster bombs to Ukraine?
00:18:05.000 Democrats used to call the use of cluster bombs a war crime.
00:18:10.000 And that war crime is now an American export.
00:18:14.000 Well, we've just learned that there are some Democrats who are working against the Biden administration.
00:18:21.000 And here is the legislative skinny.
00:18:24.000 The National Defense Authorization Act that I've talked about on the podcast a great deal sets our military policy for the year.
00:18:32.000 And it just so happens it's going to be voted on on the floor of the House of Representatives this week.
00:18:38.000 Democrat Congresswoman Sarah Jacobs, who we've criticized a great deal on the show for some of her views.
00:18:45.000 She's probably criticized me a great deal for some of mine.
00:18:47.000 But she has introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that reads notwithstanding any other provision of law, no military assistance shall be furnished for cluster munitions.
00:18:59.000 No defense export license for cluster munitions may be issued and no cluster munitions or cluster munitions technology shall be sold or transferred.
00:19:10.000 And what I'm here to tell you is that I'm going to be the Republican co-sponsor of the Jacobs Amendment before the House Rules Committee.
00:19:18.000 We have an opportunity with bipartisanship to stand against the warmongering Bidens.
00:19:24.000 And these cluster bombs will not end the war in Ukraine.
00:19:29.000 Let's look at the countries where cluster bombs have been used.
00:19:32.000 Laos, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria.
00:19:37.000 Cluster bombs are features of the world's bloodiest and most inhumane wars.
00:19:43.000 And some of the longest, it's hardly the cornerstone of a path to peace.
00:19:50.000 This will not build a more stable Ukraine.
00:19:52.000 Children will be left without limbs and without parents because of this decision by Joe Biden if we do not work together in a bipartisan fashion to stop it.
00:20:02.000 Always remember, this bloody war would end any time the European democracies wanted it to.
00:20:10.000 Don't forget that when you see the gruesome images of the death and destruction.
00:20:15.000 It's the Europeans who fund this war through their purchase of Russian gas.
00:20:20.000 That's what they do.
00:20:21.000 And to ask the United States to bear the burden financially, economically, otherwise, is crazy.
00:20:29.000 Almost as crazy as sending these cluster bombs.
00:20:33.000 There's another developing story regarding the Bidens in China that I want to get into.
00:20:39.000 And the live stream is going and a lot of questions about why impeachment hasn't happened yet.
00:20:44.000 Joe Biden deserves impeachment.
00:20:46.000 I have been the co-sponsor of Marjorie Taylor Greene's impeachment resolution.
00:20:51.000 And we should vote on that.
00:20:53.000 And we should impeach Joe Biden.
00:20:55.000 But there is increased scrutiny now on the Biden-China relationship.
00:21:01.000 And this answer that Joe Biden gave Fareed Zakaria yesterday, I found particularly interesting.
00:21:07.000 Take a listen.
00:21:10.000 There's two things that I have tried to do in terms of our China policy.
00:21:14.000 And by the way, I admit, first in person, was Xi Jinping more than any other world leader.
00:21:20.000 68 hours alone, he and I were an interpreter back when I was vice president all the way through.
00:21:26.000 Because as you remember, it was clear he was going to be president.
00:21:29.000 And it wasn't inappropriate for the president of the United States, Barack Obama, to be traveling the world with him.
00:21:35.000 But I traveled 17,000 miles with him when I was vice president in China.
00:21:39.000 And so we understand each other, I think, fairly well.
00:21:43.000 Well, isn't that interesting?
00:21:47.000 I would certainly agree with President Biden that if you spent 68 hours with someone and traveled 17,000 miles, that you would know a great deal about them.
00:22:00.000 And they would know a great deal about you, too.
00:22:03.000 And you see, that is the follow-up that Fareed Zakaria was not courageous enough to ask.
00:22:08.000 But it is certainly the operative question now for the country.
00:22:11.000 What did she learn about Biden?
00:22:14.000 Maybe all these payments to the Biden family from China were a consequence of Xi realizing that these were corrupt and compromisable people.
00:22:25.000 Maybe it was gallivanting around the globe with Joe Biden that had Xi realized that his weak spot was Hunter.
00:22:33.000 That if Hunter was bought off, paid, compromised, leveraged, turned against our country for money.
00:22:40.000 That that would be a way to ensure the compromise of Joe Biden.
00:22:45.000 I think that the time that these two have spent together will be very telling about not only the relationship between the two men, but about the policy changes in our country that seem to have inured to the benefit of the Chinese Communist Party.
00:22:59.000 Just look at the China initiative at the Department of Justice.
00:23:02.000 President Trump set up a team of dedicated prosecutors to go after Chinese influence.
00:23:07.000 Joe Biden gets rid of it right away.
00:23:12.000 These people are compromised.
00:23:14.000 They are corrupt.
00:23:15.000 And it is hurting our country each and every day.
00:23:18.000 And patriots have to stand together to call it out and then to put guardrails up while we can and then to do everything we have to do to get the country back on track.
00:23:28.000 Thanks so much for joining us today on Firebrand.
00:23:31.000 We will have more episodes this week.
00:23:33.000 We've got a lot going on.
00:23:35.000 FBI Director Christopher Wray is coming before the House of Representatives, the Judiciary Committee upon which I serve.
00:23:42.000 I'm going to have a lot of questions for FBI Director Wray.
00:23:45.000 If you've got suggestions, things you want to know, go ahead and leave them in the comments.
00:23:49.000 Leave them in the reviews if you're listening to the show.
00:23:52.000 And I'll definitely take a look.
00:23:54.000 And you never know, I've used letters and suggestions that folks have given me quite regularly, particularly this Congress, to be able to ask questions of some of these corrupt officials.
00:24:05.000 And again, as I mentioned before, we've got the National Defense Authorization Act.
00:24:08.000 We talked about the cluster bombs today, but we're going to have a lot more to report about de-wokifying this military that we love so much and ensuring that we've got the capabilities and the standards to ensure that America always holds the high ground.
00:24:24.000 Appreciate you so much.
