The Anchormen Show with Matt Gaetz - Episode 117 LIVE： No Continuing Resolution – Firebrand with Matt Gaetz

00:00:00.000 that gates the biggest firebrand inside of the house of representatives you're not taking matt

00:00:08.560 gates off the board okay because matt gates is an american patriot and matt gates is an american

00:00:14.000 hero we will not continue to allow the uniparty to run this town without a fight i want to thank you 1.00

00:00:21.760 matt gates for holding the line matt gates is a courageous man if we had hundreds of matt gates

00:00:28.560 in dc the country turns around it's that simple he's so tough he's so strong he's smart and he

00:00:35.120 loves this country matt gates it is the honor of my life to fight alongside each and every one of you

00:00:43.280 we will save america it's choose your fighter time send in the firebrands 0.76

00:00:48.560 mr speaker i'm not voting for a continuing resolution i'm not voting to continue the

00:00:59.920 failure and the waste and the corruption and the election interference and in some cases the

00:01:06.000 efforts that could lead this country into world war three i oppose the cr authored by my friend and

00:01:12.240 colleague from florida byron donalds the donald cr continues the ukraine policy negotiated by speaker

00:01:19.360 pelosi and mitch mcconnell in the omnibus that conservatives were against the donald cr is a

00:01:26.000 permission slip for jack smith to continue his election interference as they are trying to gag

00:01:32.480 the president the former president united states and the leading contender for the republican nomination

00:01:36.720 and the donald cr abandons the principle that it is only a review of single subject spending bills

00:01:43.200 that will save this country and allow us to tweeze through these programs and force these agencies

00:01:48.480 to stand up and defend their budget my friends we are approaching the days where we're facing two

00:01:54.000 trillion dollar annual deficits atop a 33 trillion dollar debt this is unsustainable and just to

00:02:00.960 continue things with some facial eight percent cut over 30 days that will lead to no programmatic reform

00:02:07.680 is an insult to the principles we fought for in january i yield back

00:02:13.520 welcome back to firebrands sasha made us a new intro video let us know if you liked it that was my

00:02:19.600 debate on the house floor against the continuing resolution that i think would really have put the

00:02:25.200 country back and would have limited the momentum we have to cut spending but i am here to tell you that

00:02:30.560 our efforts were successful thanks to the advocacy of people all over this country the votes were not

00:02:37.120 there to pass this continuing resolution and just as i said on the floor the only path forward

00:02:43.760 single subject spending bills and by the way the media the establishment republicans they call me some

00:02:52.160 crazy right winger some extremist because i am demanding a vote on term limits a vote on a balanced

00:03:00.000 budget amendment single subject spending bills a release of the january 6th tapes and if we're

00:03:06.560 going to do oversight if we're going to have a robust effort against the corrupt biden family i don't know

00:03:12.160 maybe send hunter biden a subpoena you can check my twitter feed i even drafted one all speaker mccarthy

00:03:18.640 has to do is date and sign it now many of you are fired up in the live stream kim is watching on facebook

00:03:25.920 from pensacola i always love it when my bosses and my constituents tune in and wayne on facebook is

00:03:31.840 offering a sentiment that we're seeing from a lot of folks you're wanting the motion to vacate the chair

00:03:37.760 i'm going to have an update on the motion to vacate and uh and really how some of the politics of that

00:03:43.520 could play out a little bit later in this update but before we do that our efforts against this

00:03:49.760 continuing resolution and really against all continuing resolutions are rooted in the theory

00:03:56.080 that you shouldn't be taking these disparate votes on agencies that have nothing to do with each other

00:04:02.400 all at once even the greatest continuing resolution even god's gift to continuing resolutions

00:04:09.360 still surrenders the premise that the funding of an entire agency of government is not a question

00:04:15.360 worthy of its own dignity it's why we are in the mess we are in it is not a bug of the system it is

00:04:22.000 a feature of the system and i'm going to fight with everything i can muster to bust up the dc cartel

00:04:30.800 and to stop the uniparty from running roughshod over the needs of the american people

00:04:36.240 and in that battle i seem to have found an unlikely ally in the new york times new piece coming out

00:04:43.840 from michelle coddle maybe matt gates is right the piece reads the dysfunctional dance taking

00:04:51.680 place in the house between speaker mccarthy and his right flank has driven me to consider something

00:04:57.040 i never imagined possible that matt gates is right mr mccarthy is in desperate pursuit of the

00:05:04.800 speakership last winter he ran around making promises willy-nilly to the house's small band of

00:05:10.400 right wingers there's that right wingers thing again i'm a right winger because i want term limits

00:05:14.720 balance budget and single subject bills so back back to the piece mccarthy will now rise and fall

00:05:20.720 on how he handles those commitments and expectations but here's the thing gates and company have a point

00:05:28.480 mr mccarthy is out of compliance with several of his promises they are not to blame for the chaos

00:05:36.960 consuming the house it is mr mccarthy who led them to believe he would champion their policies and priorities

00:05:44.800 the piece went on to call mccarthy hollow and fundamentally untrustworthy the new york times you see

00:05:53.200 the things i am fighting for i honestly hope exist well beyond my time in congress and even well beyond

00:06:01.360 republican control because even when democrats control this place which at some point they invariably

00:06:07.440 will i would hope their members too would want to consider these spending bills separately and not

00:06:13.520 just do continuing resolutions i will say my uh my friend and colleague from montana matt rosendale

00:06:18.880 had an interesting point nancy pelosi could have gotten to us to a continuing resolution so the fact that 0.58

00:06:25.280 kevin mccarthy is getting us there is hardly a deliverable on all the work that americans did to

00:06:31.440 ensure that the majority changed hands on this very point on the criticality of single subject spending

00:06:38.720 bills and on the utility of my strategy to root out the woke and weaponized government uh we heard

00:06:46.960 president trump's former acting director of the office of management and budget russ vote recently on

00:06:52.960 bannon's war room with just really crystal clear analysis i want you to have the benefit of it i'll

00:06:58.640 talk about it on the other side take a listen did mccarthy not push any of these appropriations

00:07:05.760 bills to get done because he lied to people to get the deaths because they said oh no no no no no no

00:07:10.720 well let's do the debt ceiling we'll take care of the real cuts in the appropriations bill 0.51

00:07:14.560 he would have been exposed as a liar that's why he wants to kick the whole thing into some big morass

00:07:20.080 so nobody can actually single out the fact that there have been no cuts i think there's

00:07:24.320 people say there's 12 billion dollars of real cuts in here russ vote that's what the cartel does the

00:07:30.240 cartel always delays delays delays they do things like lucy and the football where they take out the 1.00

00:07:37.040 football well well charlie's trying to kick it that's what it is over and over and that has what we

00:07:43.280 have seen since the debt limit deal and he is he's using this cr as part of that effort to be able to

00:07:51.200 just push this on and hope that the the crisis in their minds of a government shutdown will compel

00:07:58.000 house conservatives to go away and i just think they need to have a fundamental reset and go back to

00:08:03.040 what they agreed to in january with the speaker and that the entirety of the conference got on board

00:08:09.760 with to get kevin mccarthy who i didn't want as a speaker and many others in america didn't want

00:08:14.640 as a speaker and go back to that that that debate that would have led to a huge cut to woke and

00:08:20.880 weaponized government bureaucracy and if you don't feel like you can do all the bills in one week okay

00:08:26.080 let's start with the one that funds the department of justice the one that funds the fbi let's start

00:08:30.320 there let's have that debate how about that for one week and then we'll go to the department of

00:08:35.120 education and the department of health and human services and make sure that cdc and the nih are

00:08:40.560 not continuing to fund covet bureaucracy so we're not funding the wuhan institute we don't have the

00:08:46.400 ability to fund gay pride events in prague and our foreign aid how about we do that one week after

00:08:52.960 another instead of this charade where we we we push things on into the into holidays and later in the

00:09:00.720 year and nothing ever occurs that's exactly the play they are running and the defense to that play

00:09:09.120 is to not surrender the frame by supporting or endorsing or lending our name to any continuing

00:09:14.800 resolution we have to roll up our sleeves get to work we should cancel weekends we should work 12

00:09:20.400 hour days if necessary on this appropriations process and don't forget congress just came back

00:09:25.520 from like a six seven week break why weren't we doing the work it's exactly what russ vote just

00:09:32.000 said there the uniparty and i'd like to talk about one of the members of the uniparty now

00:09:37.600 ohio republican congressman dave joyce and he had some choice words for me now to set the stage

00:09:44.720 kevin mccarthy has tried to subjugate my legitimate concerns that no less than the new york times says are

00:09:51.440 valid he's tried to subjugate those as some sort of response to an ethics matter that of course is a

00:09:58.080 lie a lie kevin mccarthy is told in order to keep power but right on cue after kevin mccarthy gas lit

00:10:05.120 that concept a member of the house ethics committee who is a totally owned vassal state of lobbyists and

00:10:13.840 special interests attacked me so let's let's put up his comments dave joyce says

00:10:21.040 on gates well he's a special person i mean in the how many years he's been here what has he ever

00:10:28.560 accomplished other than running his mouth well here's what i can tell you congress has accomplished

00:10:36.320 we've put ourselves on a path to a two trillion dollar annual deficit we've built up a 33 trillion

00:10:42.880 dollar debt so yeah pardon me for not taking my time to go rename post offices and parts of highways

00:10:50.000 i'm working on saving the country and the dollar and and the government and sometimes from itself

00:10:57.200 when it becomes weaponized against people like president trump i think speaking on the big issues

00:11:02.400 matters but it's also not just the work but who you're doing the work for undeniably i work

00:11:10.160 directly for the american people i'm the only republican in congress who doesn't take any money from

00:11:15.600 lobbyists or packs or special interests this is a policy that would cost dave joyce dearly because

00:11:23.840 dave joyce has taken 6.8 million dollars in lobbyist and special interest money and in this this little

00:11:30.960 video i'm about to play you he actually has the nerve to attack me and my donors who might give 10 or 25

00:11:38.960 dollars to a political campaign and he tries to say that my substantive work here in the congress

00:11:45.200 is somehow lashed to my desire to get people to give smaller dollar donations

00:11:51.840 when people give 10 or 25 dollars to a candidate they just want you to be at your best

00:11:59.600 when a lobbyist gives you money they want to turn you into their puppet and dave joyce republican of

00:12:08.720 ohio has been plenty willing play the video the shiny object tending to get the most noise and then

00:12:16.400 you all of a sudden you see that that amounts to somebody like gates all these personal contributions

00:12:21.040 in small ways and it's like you think that's crazy hold my beer you know and the next one will

00:12:25.360 get in line and say even crazier things and i think we need to stay focused on you know those

00:12:29.280 people are getting the job done i just think that there's sometimes we get personalities in here who

00:12:34.000 just don't like kevin and want to create issues for him and you know you have to get beyond that

00:12:39.360 i mean your constituents all hate kevin too yeah you got to do what's best for our country or best for

00:12:44.480 your district in our country this isn't about whether or not we love or hate kevin frankly i don't have

00:12:52.640 either of those emotions directed at kevin mccarthy i do hate where we are from a fiscal posture i do hate the

00:13:00.000 debt that we've built up i do blame kevin mccarthy for where we currently stand on those matters but

00:13:05.680 it's not a personal hatred the bible says that we judge a tree by its fruit you can judge mccarthy's

00:13:13.040 speakership by what it has produced 0.99

00:13:17.520 very nominally and you can certainly judge it for what it has failed to produce especially when you're

00:13:23.280 able to lash that to the promises that were made on the january 6 tapes on term limits on balanced budget

00:13:28.720 amendments on single subject spending bills the guy fundamentally hasn't done the job and so that

00:13:34.240 brings us to the number one subject that all of you are talking about on the live stream right now

00:13:40.160 the motion to vacate so the motion to vacate is not a complicated matter to introduce but the vote

00:13:47.200 itself could take some very interesting contours i could tell you right now that the opposition to

00:13:53.200 kevin mccarthy in the republican conference has certainly grown since january when 20 stood against

00:14:01.440 him but we could count on the democrats in january to act like democrats and vote against mccarthy

00:14:11.120 what have i told you it's the uniparty that actually runs this town and it's my concern

00:14:17.600 and even my expectation that upon a motion to vacate hakeem jeffries and house democrats would bail out

00:14:26.320 their guy kevin mccarthy and i base that view in part on what i heard from hakeem jeffries on sunday

00:14:35.040 abc's this week take a listen

00:14:39.600 you and mccarthy both talked about working together when he became speaker if it comes to this motion to

00:14:45.920 vacate and you hear matt gates and and other mccarthy critics saying that they are moving in that

00:14:50.800 direction they're going to try to remove him as speaker will will you will democrats help bail mccarthy out

00:14:57.360 are you going to be there to to help him or are you going to go along with the effort to to oust him

00:15:03.440 well we haven't given it any thought one way or the other because john as i've indicated we're

00:15:09.120 going to continue to focus on solving problems for the american people now if that moment presents

00:15:14.000 itself will cross that bridge when we get to it but what we should be focused on right now is avoiding

00:15:20.080 an unnecessary government shutdown that will hurt the ability of our economy to continue to recover

00:15:27.680 which president biden has led a tremendous recovery to date and that shouldn't be interrupted

00:15:34.480 because of partisan political gamesmanship

00:15:36.560 you heard it we'll cross that bridge when we get there in that answer democrat leader hakeem jeffries

00:15:45.280 gives himself the maximum amount of operational flexibility to bail kevin out or not bail kevin

00:15:52.000 out now whether or not mccarthy faces a motion to vacate is still entirely within his own hands if

00:16:00.080 tonight he scheduled term limits balanced budgets for votes if he committed that there wouldn't be a

00:16:06.400 lumping of all these matters together but indeed individual review of single subject bills even

00:16:11.520 through a shutdown if he did those things i think he might could save his speakership unfortunately what

00:16:17.600 we've seen is a very rattled person who has been recalcitrant naive and certainly in denial about the

00:16:25.680 political circumstances that we face now i don't want to join kevin mccarthy in that sense of denial and

00:16:31.760 naivety and so when many of you are uh clamoring for the motion to vacate as you are just think about

00:16:40.400 that that answer you just heard from jeffries and if indeed i had to file a motion to vacate and the

00:16:46.320 democrats showed up to bail out kevin mccarthy i can assure you this i will let the country know every

00:16:52.880 day that it is the biden mccarthy hakeem jeffries coalition that governs them and i will stand as the

00:17:00.880 opposition to that uniparty and to that really i think dirty deal but i think we know that kevin

00:17:09.280 mccarthy is willing to make any deal to keep power and that's one of the things that's become deeply

00:17:14.240 frustrating i want to cover another matter there's been this issue of the missile explosion in ukraine

00:17:22.800 now the war in ukraine can best be characterized as a tragic yet totally avoidable mess and currently

00:17:30.880 there's no end in sight the united states and nato in their typically unserious fashion are now slow

00:17:36.800 stumbling headfirst into one of the most serious geopolitical disasters of the 21st century

00:17:43.200 it would make for a bad novel forever wars and no foresight president biden's guide to navigating

00:17:50.480 foreign relations we've discussed at length the cost of this war the burden it places on the backs

00:17:56.880 of the american taxpayer but there is a human cost this human cost is never discussed in dc circles

00:18:03.520 certainly not by the military industrial complex or the journalists that play cover for the washington

00:18:09.040 regime but as president trump recently stated on cnn quote people are dead ukrainians and russians

00:18:17.040 and cities have been destroyed close quote a foreseeable consequence to america's involvement

00:18:23.840 in prolonged and fail and failing endeavors here would certainly try to drive us to prevent this war 0.73

00:18:30.960 but at a minimum we should try to get out of it this is not a view held by samantha power the current

00:18:36.400 director of usaid who famously said when referring to all of the foreign policy blunders she's been involved

00:18:41.840 in throughout her career quote we could hardly expect to have a crystal ball when it came to 0.98

00:18:47.040 accurately predicting outcomes in places where the culture was not our own what a fool what's their

00:18:55.440 excuse of course it's hard to predict and dictate outcomes in places that are not our own land or our

00:19:03.120 own neighborhood or our own hemisphere that's why some of us encourage foreign policy realism and restraint

00:19:09.840 as opposed to costly misadventurism and you don't need a crystal ball to see where this all ends

00:19:16.560 so let's take a look right now the new york times reported yesterday that 15 civilians were killed and

00:19:22.480 30 others were injured when a missile struck a ukrainian marketplace in eastern ukraine

00:19:28.400 rendering some of the victims beyond recognition president zelinski and his propaganda arm quickly

00:19:35.200 labeled this as a russian terror attack and you know the media took the bait but it turns out

00:19:41.760 as the new york times reports this was a ukrainian air defense missile certainly unintentional and

00:19:48.240 maybe just the type of inadvertent collateral damage that we have come to too easily accept in modern wars

00:19:55.440 the evidence is clear and the reports on the ground confirm the direction of the missile the blast

00:20:01.520 radius the shrapnel size the eyewitness accounts from the site as well as where the missile was

00:20:06.400 launched from mean only one thing the tragedy belongs to ukraine and if this country doesn't get

00:20:12.320 serious and we don't work to put an end to this disastrous war then the future tragedies will belong

00:20:18.800 to us and maybe the next accident is in a market in ukraine but a nuclear escalation involving the united states

00:20:27.760 never has the world needed strong rational leadership like it does now and until president trump is back

00:20:34.800 in office it looks like we aren't going to get it i want everyone to have the the full benefit and

00:20:42.240 context of where things stand in uh the disputes we're currently having with speaker mccarthy

00:20:48.640 recently i took to the house floor and i gave remarks that have uh certainly gotten a great deal of reach

00:20:54.800 but i wanted the podcast episode to have the benefit of those remarks and arguments as well

00:21:00.400 so we will send you out with five good minutes of my remarks and how to save the country reverse the

00:21:08.480 failed course of the house of representatives and put speaker mccarthy on notice thanks so much take a listen

00:21:16.560 on this very floor in january the whole world witnessed a historic contest for house speaker

00:21:24.160 i rise today to serve notice mr speaker you are out of compliance with the agreement that allowed you

00:21:31.680 to assume this role the path forward for the house of representatives is to either bring you into

00:21:38.240 immediate total compliance or remove you pursuant to a motion to vacate the chair we have had no vote on

00:21:47.280 term limits or on balanced budgets as the agreement demanded and required there's been no full release of

00:21:53.200 the january 6 tapes as you promised there has been insufficient accountability for the biden crime

00:21:59.200 family and instead of cutting spending to raise the debt limit you relied on budgetary gimmicks

00:22:05.120 and rescissions so that you ultimately ended up serving as the valet to underwrite biden's debt and

00:22:12.080 advance his spending agenda mr speaker you boasted in january that we would use the power of the subpoena

00:22:17.920 of the subpoena and the power of the purse but here we are eight months later and we haven't even

00:22:23.760 sent the first subpoena to hunter biden that's how you know that the rushed and you know somewhat

00:22:30.800 rattled performance you just saw from the speaker isn't real at this point during democrat control

00:22:36.480 over the house of representatives they had already brought in don jr three times and we haven't even

00:22:41.280 sent the first subpoena to hunter biden power of the subpoena and power of the purse only thing the

00:22:46.560 118th congress is known for at this point is electing kevin mccarthy speaker and underwriting biden's

00:22:52.720 debt and unfortunately there's only one of those things we can remediate at this time power of the

00:22:58.320 purse our leadership right now is asking us to vote for a continuing resolution a vote for a continuing

00:23:04.720 resolution is a vote to continue the green new deal a vote to continue inflationary spending and in the

00:23:11.600 most troubling of fashions a vote for a continuing resolution is a vote to continue the election

00:23:16.960 interference of jack smith mr speaker we told you how to use the power of the purse individual

00:23:23.120 single subject spending bills that would allow us to have specific review programmatic analysis

00:23:29.440 and it would allow us to zero out the salaries of the bureaucrats who have broken bad targeted

00:23:36.000 president trump or cut sweetheart deals for hunter biden september 30th is rapidly approaching and you

00:23:43.040 have not put us in a position to succeed there is no way to pass all the individual appropriations

00:23:48.720 bills now and it's not like we didn't know when september 30th was going to show up on the calendar

00:23:53.440 i must be better you must be better and this house must be better for it is the last best hope

00:24:00.000 for tens of millions of republicans we demand real oversight against this weaponized government just

00:24:06.800 look at the bribery if tens of millions of dollars flowing from foreign corrupt people into the bank

00:24:13.200 accounts of the biden family wasn't enough for actual impeachment why were we even looking joe biden

00:24:20.640 deserves impeachment for converting the vice presidency into an atm machine for virtually his entire family

00:24:28.640 we all see it we all know it now moments ago speaker mccarthy endorsed an impeachment inquiry this is

00:24:37.520 a baby step following weeks of pressure from house conservatives to do more we must move faster

00:24:45.680 now i will concede that the votes i have called for will likely fail term limits balanced budgets maybe

00:24:51.840 even impeachment i am prepared for that eventuality because at least if we take votes the american people

00:24:58.240 get to see who's fighting for them and who's willing to tolerate more corruption and business as
