00:00:13.740
hero we will not continue to allow the uniparty to run this town without a fight i want to thank
00:00:20.880
you matt gates for holding the line matt gates is a courageous man if we had hundreds of matt gates
00:00:28.320
in dc the country turns around it's that simple he's so tough he's so strong he's smart and he
00:00:35.080
loves this country matt gates it is the honor of my life to fight alongside each and every one of you
00:00:42.880
we will save america it's choose your fighter time send in the firebrands
00:00:48.700
welcome back to firebrand we are live broadcasting out of room 2021 of the rayburn house office
00:01:00.000
building here in our capital complex in washington dc shout out to my man kevin smith watching at the
00:01:06.240
loud majority on rumble we have a lot to get to war in the middle east we've got a speaker race coming
00:01:12.560
up this episode i'm going to walk you through the nine announced candidates for speaker of the house
00:01:18.140
who will be debating in just moments before the house republican conference laying out their vision
00:01:22.740
i want you to get a keen understanding of what the path forward looks like for each of them some of the
00:01:27.960
critical features of their voting record and really how we can unite behind someone who will make the
00:01:33.820
republican conference a fighting force for the people again i've got lots to share about my perspective
00:01:39.600
on the race the mainstream media has been freaking out because the normal powers that be are not in
00:01:45.340
control of washington dc right now we have got a historic opportunity to democratize power to put
00:01:51.420
the needs of the american people at the forefront again i can't wait to see what the next step is and
00:01:56.420
i'm really really excited about what it could mean for really reshaping the rules in a deeply corrupt
00:02:01.840
system first i want to go though to what's going on in the middle east and here is the direct statements
00:02:07.940
from prime minister netanyahu to hezbollah regarding a potential second front in israel's war in the north
00:02:15.960
if hezbollah decides to enter the war it will miss the second lebanon war it will make the mistake of
00:02:25.980
its life we will cripple it with a force it cannot even imagine and the consequence for hezbollah and for
00:02:31.540
the state of lebanon will be devastating but we are prepared for any scenario
00:02:36.020
so this is something really important to watch right now israel is in an asymmetric conflict
00:02:44.400
against these well-funded well-financed coordinated logistically centered terrorist groups but we do not
00:02:51.120
want to see this conflict broaden into more state-on-state violence that's where this goes from an
00:02:57.540
operation that israel's military is conducting in in gaza to a war that could sweep across the
00:03:03.960
middle east and through parts of the muslim world in asia in africa we want to see israel succeed in
00:03:10.400
destroying hamas that is the objective i believe that lebanon is one of the key countries to watch
00:03:16.140
because lebanon has hezbollah as a political party occupying about a third of the the seats in their
00:03:23.600
law making body and they've got a real goal to annihilate israel so while there are some positive
00:03:30.800
features of what the lebanese government is doing while they're trying to hold it together amid a lot
00:03:36.860
of economic strife and a banking collapse in lebanon lebanon would be the first country to descend into a
00:03:43.220
civil war and so netanyahu understanding that is trying to reset deterrence with hezbollah and have
00:03:49.640
them understand that this will not be the normal cycle of escalation this will not be hezbollah attacks
00:03:56.720
and then israel has a proportionate response you will see a a complete uh destruction mode you will
00:04:04.480
see a siege in southern lebanon and potentially in the golan heights around syria if you see those
00:04:12.520
nations devolve into civil war and anti-semitic entities seeking to wipe israel off the map gain any sort
00:04:19.620
of operational imperative uh in these early stages so very important i think it is quite the signal
00:04:27.060
from prime minister netanyahu that this is a critical objective of israel to deter uh any sort
00:04:33.320
of lebanese involvement in the war and to deter hezbollah to the max extent possible i do believe
00:04:38.000
that us having two carrier groups in the eastern med gives uh other countries that would seek to escalate
00:04:44.000
this uh reason to not do so doesn't mean we should be moving carrier groups through the suez canal
00:04:48.720
i think that that uh has real force protection risks to it but in the eastern mediterranean
00:04:53.880
we can be a part of helping israel set deterrence and i'm glad in fact that we are doing that here at
00:05:00.740
home there's other news that's troubling as well i want to bring your attention to a piece by will
00:05:06.280
kessler and the daily caller styled americans are burning through savings to keep biden's economy
00:05:12.660
afloat so the biden administration is noting that there is economic growth now but if you peel back
00:05:18.040
a lot of that growth is funded by high consumer deficit spending where you're seeing aprs increase
00:05:25.820
on credit cards uh and i'm quoting now directly from the piece to sustain this level of consumer
00:05:31.640
spending americans are draining their savings spending more than they are bringing in as their
00:05:36.740
wages stay stagnant or decline ej antonio a research fellow at heritage foundation quoted saying people
00:05:44.560
need more savings today than ever to cope with the higher cost of living and instead many families are
00:05:50.620
heading into the next recession with less savings and more debt so as the biden administration tries to
00:05:56.460
show you economic growth numbers know that that comes on the backs of the savings of the american
00:06:02.220
people and as the american people burned through savings more and more are utilizing credit cards
00:06:07.080
to bridge from one month to the next with high government spending and high interest rates that apr on those
00:06:13.260
credit cards is increasing and ej and tony making this argument in the daily caller piece that uh we may
00:06:20.200
very well be heading into a recession and if we are it is the government spending that i am trying to
00:06:27.300
stop in this town that is driving it and it was that government spending that kevin mccarthy was all too
00:06:32.980
willing to advance as house speaker now we've got the opportunity to get a new house speaker and there are
00:06:38.260
nine announced candidates in this round of the balloting and i agree with what my colleague bob good said
00:06:44.500
recently i would rather get this done right than just get it done quickly we've never seen anything
00:06:51.220
like this in washington dc before where the core of the control center that the lobbyists and the
00:06:58.620
special interests have on the leadership and on the agenda that has been shaken that has been disrupted
00:07:05.780
and and now we've got nine folks and we may have a speaker among them so i'm going to go through these
00:07:10.620
in alphabetical order i'm going to tell you a little bit about these folks please don't take
00:07:14.700
anything i say positive or negative about them as dispositive on my vote i think that with any of
00:07:19.820
these people you're going to have to have to weigh multiple factors okay and at the end of the day
00:07:25.800
the the ideal candidate that i would have liked to have seen jim jordan well he came 17 votes short of
00:07:33.160
the speakership and while that's discouraging to many and certainly it's got a lot of folks fired up
00:07:38.320
in the live chat right now what i can tell you is that we have moved the ball forward for conservatism
00:07:45.220
just by where we are right now consider this just three speakers ago jim jordan was called a
00:07:53.820
legislative terrorist by john boehner and just like three days ago we had jim jordan within 17 votes
00:08:02.720
of the speakership that shows you the direction this is moving and the american people who are
00:08:08.340
engaged and demanding more you are the ones that are the driving force in that movement so let's get
00:08:13.260
to these nine candidates now uh with full context that i'm describing them to you not trying to
00:08:19.920
persuade you one way or the other on these folks there's just things i think you need to know
00:08:23.680
so alphabetical order let's start with jack bergman jack bergman is the highest ranking member of the
00:08:30.860
military to have ever served in congress in america's history general bergman served in the
00:08:37.000
united states marine corps now he's a more moderate member of congress he's from the state of michigan
00:08:42.540
represents the upper peninsula there he was actually elected class president when i entered congress so
00:08:49.460
several of the people that you're uh you're going to hear about or certainly mike johnson i guess in
00:08:54.720
addition to bergman uh from the same class that was elected with me in 2016 jack bergman was elected
00:09:00.360
our class president uh always viewed uh viewed well among the members of our class member of the
00:09:06.460
armed services committee with me has also served as a member of the veterans affairs committee now one
00:09:11.940
thing about jack bergman he voted for the debt limit increase that is in many ways the original sin
00:09:20.000
of the mccarthy era of the speakership before that debt limit vote kevin mccarthy was actually doing
00:09:25.400
a pretty good job as house speaker wouldn't have lost his job but when they did the deal to underwrite
00:09:32.040
an unlimited amount of biden debt through january 1 of 2025 you created this runway for the very
00:09:39.900
weaponized government that we have been fighting against so i i will certainly weigh in my decision
00:09:44.900
the fact that jack bergman was a yes vote on that bad debt limit deal i think that that we probably uh
00:09:51.400
would do better with someone who didn't vote for that and that brings us to our next uh candidate
00:09:56.480
for speaker byron donalds my fellow florida man so i i am a little biased byburn and i have known each
00:10:03.020
other for quite some time uh we've been on the campaign trade together throughout florida politics
00:10:08.540
helping republicans get elected we served in the state legislature together byron donalds is a respected
00:10:14.420
member of the house freedom caucus he is a dynamic communicator uh in one area where he and i had
00:10:20.680
disagreement and it was uh it was renoted on social media somewhat recently uh byron had supported a
00:10:27.320
continuing resolution that demanded some policy changes on the border and that had ostensibly
00:10:33.100
some spending cuts for 30 days i did not support that i think governing by continuing resolution is a bad
00:10:38.640
idea but byron is considered probably you know among the more conservative members of this field
00:10:45.420
and someone who's certainly got a lot of people excited i know having campaigned with byron across
00:10:51.940
florida throughout the country he's a very dynamic guy and when people interact with him on the campaign
00:10:56.940
trail they seem to like him uh so byron donalds another candidate for our speaker the the real question i had
00:11:03.100
with donalds he's in he's in his second term i think second or third term i think he's in his second
00:11:10.160
term and there are some here who believe that you've got to have extensive seniority you've got to have
00:11:16.800
been in washington for 10 12 years to even be considered frankly all the people we've considered to date
00:11:22.700
have had at least a decade of experience in congress and and byron has less congressional experience
00:11:28.900
but i would remind people that he's got experience in the state legislature and one of the features of
00:11:34.620
his candidacy that i think he's been promoting is that he's not been entirely encapsulated in the
00:11:40.600
beltway view of thinking and that as someone who's a former state lawmaker like many members of congress
00:11:46.260
are we might be able to reset that that semblance of federalism where the congress doesn't have to solve
00:11:52.300
every problem where we've got states doing what's within their constitutional purview so that is byron
00:11:57.760
donalds next alphabetically tom emmer he is the current whip of the republican conference and in
00:12:04.260
that role he is very well thought of from our more moderate members to our more conservative members
00:12:09.640
as a truth teller tom emmer is one of the few members of leadership who doesn't lie to the membership
00:12:15.200
there is a trump factor here president trump initially put out a statement that he did not support tom emmer
00:12:20.740
he'd apparently heard things that were concerning to him about how tom emmer had run the campaign arm of
00:12:27.400
the republican caucus the nrcc i am told that president trump and tom emmer spoke over the
00:12:34.000
weekend and that that conversation went well so we'll see if there are other comments from president
00:12:38.900
trump about tom emmer though tom emmer is the whip of the congress it is important to note that emmer has
00:12:46.060
only been in that position for nine months whereas other members of leadership at times struggled with
00:12:53.040
uh with members who said well you know you're part of the same system you're part of the same structure
00:12:57.700
and some had been members of that system and structure for many years here tom emmer has been there for nine
00:13:04.220
months i think the membership likes him now there there have been some clips that have been coming out
00:13:09.120
from his time as a minnesota uh based politician lawmaker i think he ran for governor in minnesota
00:13:16.360
came up just just short in in the closest of races there as minnesota was taking kind of a bluish turn
00:13:24.540
uh you know you could find old clips about just about anybody and and use them if they've been in
00:13:30.780
politics long enough we'll see if those motivate a lot of conservative activists to oppose emmer i
00:13:36.300
certainly have seen the most opposition to emmer online as opposed to any of these other candidates
00:13:42.320
uh we'll see if that ends up being dispositive for for folks and another thing you should know about
00:13:47.140
tom emmer he too voted for the debt limit deal so if if you're viewing that as dispositive as i am if
00:13:54.660
you're viewing that as critical to where the house of representatives is right now it's quite the tell
00:13:59.400
tom emmer was a yes vote on the bad mccarthy debt limit deal that brings us to our next candidate
00:14:05.460
kevin hearn kevin hearn is the chairman of the republican study committee that is the largest
00:14:11.240
conference in the united states congress and kevin hearn is a guy who grew up on public assistance
00:14:17.120
got a job at a mcdonald's became scraped together enough money to get a mcdonald's franchise
00:14:24.760
and then became one of the most successful mcdonald's franchisees in the country and as it just so
00:14:31.520
happens i have a delivery from kevin hearn that came just as we were starting the show
00:14:36.840
and uh i'll i'll read you his platform uh he's a he's a congressman from arkansas
00:14:43.040
and it reads actually is he from he's from oklahoma isn't he yeah oklahoma my mistake
00:14:50.420
all right dear colleague how would you get us back on track that is the question i've received most
00:14:56.000
since announcing my bid for speaker to me the answer is simple if we want better outcomes we need to
00:15:01.520
pursue a fresh approach but truth is congress has not been working properly for a long time
00:15:06.420
here are some facts 38 that's the number of continuing resolutions we've passed in the last
00:15:12.560
10 years eight that's the number of omnibus spending bills we've passed in the last 10 years
00:15:17.560
1977 the last and only time congress passed a budget and enacted all of its appropriations bills
00:15:24.640
separately and on time think about that 1977 last time we followed the law but i'm the crazy one
00:15:30.820
that wants us to follow the law back to hearn's letter 1208 the number of unauthorized programs
00:15:38.900
at the beginning of fiscal year 2023 we've talked a lot about this over 1200 unauthorized programs
00:15:46.260
we've got to stop spending money in this way so back to the hearn letter two the number of years we
00:15:52.240
are away from debt interest payments surpassing annual defense funding and the letter goes on to talk
00:15:59.860
about the number of americans that are dying from the national debt the debt uh increase now
00:16:06.000
approaching 34 trillion dollars and an approval rating for congress of 17 percent hearn talks about
00:16:12.900
his 35 years of leadership in the mcdonald's organization motivating people and you know what
00:16:19.280
let's see what he sent us a cheeseburger actually we got two of them and uh you know they say there's a lot
00:16:26.600
of stuff that goes on to buy and sell votes in this town but kevin hearn sending me a mcdonald's burger
00:16:31.400
probably one of the best efforts we've had so far i'm taking a bite
00:16:34.640
oh it's been a long time since i've had a mcdonald's burger
00:16:43.740
all right that's kevin hearn's candidacy we'll see if anybody else sends any other uh any other
00:16:51.820
fast food that brings us to the next candidate mike johnson
00:16:55.700
mike johnson a constitutional conservative a brilliant attorney whips jamie raskin up and down the floor
00:17:04.820
whenever they debate the finer points of constitutional law uh on the judiciary committee mike johnson has
00:17:11.160
been central to a lot of the oversight we've been conducting over the biden crime family over the
00:17:17.260
fbi the doj the atf here here is the uh is the challenge that mike johnson will have to overcome
00:17:24.800
he did not vote for the debt limit deal but the challenge he'll have to overcome is that he's from
00:17:30.100
the state of louisiana and our number two right now steve scalise who withdrew from the speaker contest
00:17:36.600
is also from louisiana so i know this sounds crazy but as qualified as mike johnson is and he would
00:17:42.800
make a phenomenal speaker i can tell you that right now having worked with him there are some people
00:17:47.500
who don't want to vote for mike johnson because they're concerned about the centralization of power
00:17:51.820
with a speaker of the house and a majority leader from the state of louisiana i don't view that as all
00:17:58.560
that important but it's something he's going to have to work through also mike johnson's not a member
00:18:02.600
of the house freedom caucus a lot of times he aligns with the conservative perspective and viewpoint
00:18:07.220
some members of the freedom caucus say well if you're a real conservative that wants our backing
00:18:11.520
you should be in the freedom caucus full disclosure i'm not a member of the freedom caucus
00:18:15.700
i think that you can be a conservative and be more independent minded or you don't have to necessarily
00:18:22.820
be a sworn in member of the house freedom caucus in order to fight for the american people
00:18:27.600
mike johnson's going to be a really strong candidate for the speakership
00:18:30.820
next is dan muser dan muser's from pennsylvania uh he is more uh i think drawing on a base of
00:18:39.360
suburbanite republicans to support his candidacy he supported the debt limit deal uh and you know
00:18:45.260
that he's going to make a case that someone from a swing state like pennsylvania someone who can
00:18:50.000
uh make a case to country club republicans uh would would be helpful that'll be the the central
00:18:55.900
candidacy of dan muser next it brings us to gary palmer gary palmer is currently the policy chairman
00:19:03.580
he's viewed within the republican conference as someone who is uh wonky who understands the
00:19:09.600
intricacies of policy choices he studies budget issues and entitlement issues very closely i served
00:19:16.380
on the budget committee with gary palmer i can tell you this guy is a fiscal hawk he's from the state
00:19:21.720
of alabama so hey if we went from a house speaker from california to a house speaker from alabama
00:19:27.960
uh that that has its own panache to it i think he understands how to reform entitlement programs
00:19:34.200
he is a devout christian and more of a mild-mannered guy a gary palmer he played wide receiver at the
00:19:40.840
university of alabama was quite the standout athlete a pretty fast guy we hear but he's not the person
00:19:47.160
um to take over a room with his mere presence i think he's more of a of a student of the
00:19:55.040
intricacies of policy more mild-mannered in his nature next up is pete sessions of texas and pete
00:20:01.920
sessions is a bit of a throwback candidate prior chairman of the house rules committee under house
00:20:06.780
speaker paul ryan and he was really ousted from that that rules committee seniority and that rules
00:20:13.480
committee position under kevin mccarthy so he and mccarthy do not get along particularly well
00:20:17.780
he will pete sessions will draw heavily on the fact that he's from the largest delegation in for
00:20:24.340
republicans in the country that's the texas delegation if all of the texans get behind pete
00:20:30.340
sessions i think he's got a really high probability of of coming out of the gate with a strong base of
00:20:36.660
support and he'll make the argument that just like the texas delegation the republican conference has
00:20:42.660
more conservatives more suburbanites more centrists more moderates so if he could convince that
00:20:47.680
delegation to support him he would likely argue that that would allow him to bring in people from
00:20:52.960
the various factions of our conference to be able to lead us effectively that is the pete sessions case
00:20:58.580
from texas former rules chairman that brings us to our final candidate austin scott austin scott
00:21:06.600
from the state of georgia you'll remember he challenged jim jordan got 81 votes in that contest
00:21:11.760
i praised austin scott online because after he was defeated by jim jordan he backed him 100 for
00:21:20.020
speaker voted for him three times was working hard to get the gavel for jordan and i just think that's
00:21:25.020
a class act it's a total uh i think you know responsible thing to do after someone bests you
00:21:30.360
in a contest like that to back them he is running on a campaign that includes consequences for the eight
00:21:35.920
of us who did not support kevin mccarthy including yours truly he serves on the house armed services
00:21:41.400
committee and the agriculture committee he voted for the debt limit deal that many of us oppose i i i want
00:21:49.300
to play one clip for you because it overlays one of my principal critiques of this town i've told you
00:21:56.680
that washington dc is a corrupt place and the lobbyists and bundlers and political action
00:22:04.500
committees exist for one principal reason to use the money that lawmakers need for political campaigns
00:22:11.320
in order to extract favors that otherwise they would never get because in the absence of all of that
00:22:18.660
our principal motivation would be to put the needs of our constituents our voters first but if you view
00:22:26.000
money as the principal path to get to the voters well then you end up working for the lobbyists and the
00:22:32.500
special interests we are live broadcasting to you right now from the rayburn building but if i were to
00:22:39.240
take about 30 or 40 steps outside of this building i would go across the street where there is an
00:22:48.560
office building for the republican national committee and the national republican congressional
00:22:53.260
committee across the street from the capital is where our party leaders and bosses often meet with
00:22:59.980
lobbyists to get commitments for them to provide money and then ultimately to receive those donations
00:23:05.960
in the form of fundraisers gatherings policy conferences dinner that all happens just across the street
00:23:14.460
from where we are right now when you're in the capital building it is not only verboten it's quite literally
00:23:22.060
against the law to talk about fundraising and donations you have to do that across the street you can't do it in the
00:23:31.540
astonishingly i watched former house speaker kevin mccarthy make the case on meet the press that what's most important
00:23:41.920
when evaluating a potential candidate for speaker is not just how they will lead inside the capitol building it is what
00:23:51.060
they will do across the street for the lobbyists and special interests take a listen
00:23:56.940
this is not a moment in time to play around with learning on the job we need someone who understands how to do this job
00:24:05.920
i believe tom emmer our whip he's been in the room with all of our successes from our bills to secure the border from
00:24:12.560
parents bill of rights from cutting two trillion dollars getting work requirements he knows how to do the job across the
00:24:19.280
street at the same time helping us win the majority he's he sets himself head and shoulders above all those others who want to run we
00:24:26.320
need to get him elected this week and move on and bring this not just party together but focus on what this country needs most
00:24:34.080
so did you hear the tell kevin mccarthy while endorsing his preference for house speaker
00:24:43.480
literally referenced the across the street work as central to the position you see it's it's the
00:24:50.380
parlance in washington you talk about the people who are best at laundering special interest money
00:24:55.760
at being good across the street i can't i just can't believe that that was so off-putting to me
00:25:02.140
so debasing that the way we have to evaluate leadership is based on who can go and launder the
00:25:07.720
most lobbyist money and then all of that money has strings attached the live stream is going crazy
00:25:14.040
with different people offering their perspective nobody wants to return to kevin mccarthy some of you
00:25:19.480
just want no speaker if the house of representatives is so eager to open up to send money to ukraine
00:25:24.900
there is substantial sentiment that uh maybe if we kept the lights off for a few more days we might
00:25:31.520
get people oriented back to a perspective to put the needs of our fellow americans before the needs of
00:25:36.080
which guy next wants to run crimea uh also a lot of sentiment for candidates that i did not list
00:25:42.980
so donald trump we we have thrown this lure as many times as is possible president trump does not want
00:25:49.300
to be considered candidate for house speaker uh i've tried troy nels has tried marjorie taylor green's
00:25:55.020
tried lauren boebert's tried nunes nunes is another one picking up particularly on rumble a lot of
00:26:02.620
positive sentiment i would absolutely vote for devin nunes for speaker there are other folks who aren't
00:26:08.080
in the congress now prior members who've been thrown out some people throughout newt gingrich i think
00:26:14.020
that's a terrible idea actually throwing out newt gingrich was the good idea throwing his name out for
00:26:18.260
speaker not so much but lee zeldin got a number of votes in prior rounds and lee zeldin is someone i
00:26:24.200
could absolutely support for speaker but i i talked to a lot of our members and i just want to bring
00:26:28.920
you inside the decision making here right now about one out of every four people in the united states
00:26:35.460
congress would not vote for someone who's not a current member of the body i would but one in four
00:26:41.680
wouldn't even consider such a person so as as attractive as people like devin nunes and lee zeldin
00:26:48.160
as unifying consensus options i think they would they would struggle to win over a sufficient number
00:26:54.380
of institutionalists to be able to get there can't let you go without showing you how the
00:26:59.240
mainstream media is freaking out about what's going on in the house right now they the power centers of
00:27:05.720
the establishment in the mainstream media are so aligned they are really losing it lead opinion in
00:27:11.400
the new york times the people who broke the house and if you're watching right now on youtube rumble
00:27:17.420
on x or facebook you can see that the camera guys get a pretty good look at my phone if you zoom in
00:27:24.960
there you can see i'm i'm charting in the second round of the jordan balloting who is voting and who
00:27:30.660
they're voting for but they make the argument that i've broken broken the house this is the same new york
00:27:36.400
times that often calls me far right and extreme but they actually charted out the ideology of the
00:27:43.320
people who blocked mccarthy and then the people who blocked jordan and it tells you an interesting
00:27:48.400
story so if you're watching right now i'm sorry if you're if you're one of our tens of thousands of
00:27:53.300
listeners you can use this time to go and give me a five-star rating leave a review but if you're
00:27:57.780
watching you can see on the screen this chart that the new york times has put together showing the
00:28:03.180
ideologies of the republicans who were against mccarthy the most uh moderate the the closest to
00:28:09.580
the center uh nancy mace the most conservative andy biggs and there you see me nestled right there in
00:28:18.620
the center right of the republican conference kind of right where i want to be reflecting the views of
00:28:24.380
our fellow americans without any sort of of of agenda beyond what would make life better for
00:28:32.980
people in northwest florida so whenever the new york times calls me an extreme right hard line member
00:28:39.860
going forward i may have to show them their own data that suggests otherwise but then the story gets
00:28:45.860
even richer if you go to the next chart you see the people who blocked jim jordan and ken buck
00:28:52.340
very conservative he's the most conservative person who blocked jordan and and then though at the end
00:28:58.100
i'm pretty sure buck was not going to stand between jim jordan and the speakership i actually have some
00:29:02.300
some information on that so he wasn't really the one blocking jordan but it's all these dots on the left
00:29:08.940
the most liberal members of our caucus blocked the most popular republican in the united states house of
00:29:18.600
representatives and they did so because their lobbyist friends knew that jim jordan wouldn't put
00:29:24.640
them first and wouldn't be a part of this corrupt system and it's a shame but this is also a hundred
00:29:31.000
percent an exercise in exposing the people who do not truly work for you there's another piece in the
00:29:38.400
wall street journal molly ball the headline matt gates tore the house gop apart he isn't sorry and the
00:29:46.900
he says in part mccarthy told reporters listen the whole country i think would scream at matt gates
00:29:53.840
right now and molly ball continues gates a canady student of procedure with a knack for tapping the
00:30:00.840
conservative zeitgeist has taken it upon himself to assemble a shifting band of dissidents and up to now
00:30:07.360
he's been dramatically successful while critics accuse gates of attention-mongering he insists he is
00:30:13.400
about outcomes not headlines chaos doesn't scare me american decline does whether mccarthy is
00:30:21.360
replaced by a similar figure or a more conservative one gates wins either way said liam donovan a
00:30:28.460
republican lobbyist if a conservative wins it would make gates a hero to the right otherwise it would
00:30:35.680
further his argument that the dc cartel is conspiring to frustrate conservative aims i do not know who
00:30:43.720
liam donovan is the republican lobbyist cited in this article but he's kind of right if we end up with a more
00:30:52.300
conservative speaker then we will have achieved the objective of upgrading the position maybe it's not the ideal
00:30:59.360
person you want if you're hoping for donald trump or jim jordan or devin nunez or me it's not going to
00:31:05.560
be that first choice but if it's someone more conservative then we've moved in the right direction
00:31:11.340
and if it's not you will know why you won't have to wonder why republicans in congress continue to send
00:31:19.020
out press releases and tweets about their intentions and what they're going to fight and what they're going
00:31:24.680
to defund you see what they're willing to fight for one of them illinois congressman mike bost even
00:31:29.960
wanted to fight me seen people get to the microphone with tears in their eyes about
00:31:34.680
how much they love one leader another they never were that concerned as joe biden was opening the
00:31:42.080
border and as our fellow americans were being poisoned by fentanyl i can tell you that their way
00:31:46.740
the establishment hacks are way more worried about their precious power centers here than about what's
00:31:53.460
happening to the american people right now and so yeah it's either going to be more conservative or
00:31:59.180
it's not in either way you're going to win because you're going to have better outcomes or you're going
00:32:05.060
to have a specific pathway on what you have to do to get them and we are demystifying this and i'm glad
00:32:12.800
we're doing it we're doing it all over the country too not just here in washington i was traveling over the
00:32:19.420
weekend in the fifth district of virginia with my friend bob good and i had a chance to stop at
00:32:24.180
appomattox courthouse and i just i just couldn't resist making this little video for you take a listen
00:32:29.820
well that's about as useless as confederate money it's a saying to denote that something has lost
00:32:38.260
all of its value it's because right behind me at appomattox courthouse when general robert e lee
00:32:44.500
surrendered to ulysses s grant everyone holding confederate money all of a sudden saw the value
00:32:51.300
go to zero well you know what over this last week there's been a lot of criticism over what we've done
00:32:57.120
in the united states congress one thing i can tell you all the lobbyists and special interests who gave
00:33:03.600
kevin mccarthy a billion dollars they're all holding confederate money because the ious from the swamp
00:33:11.500
and the special interests have gone to zero and the interests of the american people they're about
00:33:18.940
so we are back live in just a few hours i'll be meeting directly with austin scott one of the
00:33:27.680
candidates he's invited a group of us to chat with him about his vision we ought to be open-minded
00:33:32.840
listening to everyone a lot of you on the live stream are asking who who are my favorites
00:33:37.580
so i'll end the show with that look i believe that what you just heard from kevin hearn is a real
00:33:45.420
plan this is a real plan to stop governing by continuing resolution and it's serious and he's
00:33:51.660
a very serious person he would make a phenomenal speaker i've sat next to mike johnson for seven
00:33:56.640
years on the house judiciary committee i know that if he is the speaker of the house everything that
00:34:01.420
kevin mccarthy has done to block the release of the january 6 tapes to block our subpoenas that will
00:34:07.140
be over and it will be a new era of exciting leadership mike johnson would make a phenomenal
00:34:11.920
speaker and of course you know how i feel about byron donalds my fellow florida man a dynamic
00:34:18.740
communicator an inspiring choice someone who has effectively worked across the conference to bring
00:34:25.300
bring people to i think a more conservative position but a unifying issue a position on a number
00:34:32.220
of issues including our big border bill hr2 byron donalds also shares a lot of the concerns of
00:34:39.220
coastal communities that impact northwest florida so i think that he would also make a phenomenal choice
00:34:45.620
for house speakers so those are three of the nine that i'm real excited about and i'm gonna allow
00:34:52.060
myself the opportunity to hear what the others have to say it's not about one man it's not about one
00:34:59.100
person it's not even about us you see that's why seven of the eight offered last week to accept
00:35:06.740
punishment or sanction removal from the conference if people were willing to get past their issues and
00:35:13.880
vote for jim jordan but we can we can still end up with a phenomenal speaker the plan wasn't jordan or
00:35:19.620
bust uh these other men are of great virtue and i think that we're going to hear a lot more tonight
00:35:26.620
i can't wait to update you in the future the best way to stay informed regarding what's going on in
00:35:31.780
congress our updates regarding what's going on around the world and particularly the middle east
00:35:36.260
