The Anchormen Show with Matt Gaetz - Episode 145 – Are the US and Israel Colluding With...Aliens？! Open America Up! CNBC Panelists Throw Shots Over COVID Lockdowns. Goya Foods Names AOC as Employee of the Month.

00:00:00.000 Welcome to Hot Takes. I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz. Let's talk about the news.

00:00:20.600 And how could our top news story today not be?

00:00:25.020 An international force of aliens communicating with the United States and Israel according

00:00:32.560 to Israel's former head of the space program. We get the story from the Jerusalem Post and

00:00:38.340 this guy apparently led Israel's space program from 1981 to 2010 and gave an interview saying

00:00:45.720 that the aliens are conducting tests regularly on Earth. They have a base on Mars. They talk

00:00:53.060 to the U.S. and Israeli government and that President Trump was intending to declassify

00:00:59.420 and expose this alien contact but that the Galactic Federation has convinced him not to so that

00:01:07.860 people can calm down and get ready for the news of the existence of aliens working to some

00:01:15.880 degree in concert with our government and with Israel's government. Here's my hot take. I am

00:01:22.100 here for the alien news. I don't need to calm down. I don't need to get into a different

00:01:28.160 state of mind. If there are aliens, I want to know about it. I want to know who they're talking

00:01:33.940 to. I want to know who that what their goals are. And I want to know what their capabilities

00:01:38.840 are. If there really are aliens, and they're aware of us, I don't think that this is all

00:01:44.600 going to be entirely peaceful. I think that just the nature of colonialism with living things

00:01:52.980 would result in either them wanting to colonize us or us wanting to colonize them. So we will 0.97

00:01:58.860 continue to bring you all the alien news we can on this podcast. Really striking. Check out the story

00:02:05.900 in the Jerusalem Post. Keep the schools open, where parents have at least the option for in-person

00:02:16.920 learning for their students. And of course, there'll be parents who choose distance learning,

00:02:21.920 virtual learning, alternate learning sites, and we're all about parent choice. But you deprive

00:02:27.540 parents choice when you don't open the public schools. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been

00:02:33.760 a national leader advocating for the option for in-person student learning. Here's the governor.

00:02:40.600 I would say that closing schools due to coronavirus is probably the biggest public health blunder

00:02:48.960 in modern American history. The fallout in communities that are still chafing under school closures,

00:02:55.540 we have some of the biggest school districts in our country that still do not have in-person

00:03:01.460 instruction. Incidentally, of the top 10 school districts population-wise, five are in Florida.

00:03:07.580 All five offer in-person instruction. But the harm from this is going to reverberate in those

00:03:15.560 communities for years and years to come. And the tragedy of all this is that the evidence has been

00:03:22.200 remarkably clear since the spring that closing schools offers virtually nothing in terms of

00:03:29.160 virus mitigation, but imposes huge costs on our kids, on our parents, and on our society.

00:03:37.500 Governor DeSantis is right. And here's my hot take. Education, particularly public education in

00:03:43.180 our country, has become more about the adults in that system than the kids. And clearly,

00:03:48.580 the decision to close schools is not one that is best for the students. Now, I think we need to

00:03:53.660 accommodate teachers who have medical frailties, who maybe are closer to retirement, who are concerned

00:03:59.400 about their health, of course. But where you've got younger teachers, where you've got the ability

00:04:04.740 to create swing space and distancing, the governor is right. The negative effects of closing school

00:04:11.020 are so much more detrimental to young people than the threat of coronavirus. I stand with the governor

00:04:17.660 of Florida and with the parents and students who deserve the option of in-person learning.

00:04:26.200 The establishment in our country that has drained the people. They're licking their chops at the

00:04:32.980 prospect of a Biden administration. And that's especially true in national security. Nationalinterest.org

00:04:40.400 has the story, Joe Biden's picks show the Washington establishment is back. Biden's late November

00:04:48.380 national security picks signal his commitment after four years of Trump's unorthodox policy approach

00:04:54.860 to realign the Washington experience with the mainstream of U.S. diplomatic and intelligence

00:05:02.560 establishment thinking. What this principally means is that they want to get rid of the America

00:05:08.760 first foreign policy that has been so effective and refreshing. You see, the America first foreign

00:05:15.680 policy meant that we actually started focusing on our near peer adversaries and we didn't drain our

00:05:21.460 nation with the global war on terror's objectives of chasing every terrorist into every cave. The America

00:05:29.040 first foreign policy meant that we weren't going to be dead money in negotiations globally, like in the

00:05:35.820 Paris climate accord, where basically the U.S. put up a ton of cash. Other countries got to use that

00:05:41.700 cash and maybe it worked and maybe it didn't. But at the end of the day, it was going to be the benefit

00:05:47.620 of others and the expense of Americans that really drove the train on the Paris climate accord. And then

00:05:54.100 specifically, this national interest piece goes into how Biden conflates multilateralism with

00:06:01.300 transatlanticism. He really believes that the U.S. transatlantic relationships ought to drive global

00:06:09.800 discourse. That, of course, means bolstering the potential of a Russian threat. That's what really, 0.84

00:06:17.740 I think, keeps up the threat construction ecosystem that would fuel a potential Biden foreign policy.

00:06:24.540 I'm still hoping that Joe Biden never becomes president, but if he did, the establishment would eat

00:06:29.780 first, their policy ideas would be implemented, and America would be worse off for it.

00:06:39.440 CNBC was the source of quite the exchange on cable news recently. CNBC's Rick Santelli blasted anchor

00:06:49.960 Andrew Ross Sorkin over coronavirus lockdowns. The shouting match went viral after the tense exchange

00:06:58.500 occurred regarding how these lockdowns impact people's lives, their impact on health. Take a

00:07:05.220 listen. You can't tell me that shutting down, which is the easiest answer, is necessarily the

00:07:10.260 only answer. Rick, I just, just as a, as a, as a public health and public service announcement

00:07:16.560 for the audience, the difference between a big box retailer, hold on, the difference between,

00:07:22.160 the difference, the difference between a big box retailer, hold on, the difference between a big box

00:07:29.760 retailer and a restaurant, or frankly, even a, a church, are so different, it's unbelievable.

00:07:37.860 I disagree. I disagree. I disagree. You're wearing a mask. You can have your thoughts and I can have mine.

00:07:42.880 You're required to wear a mask. I disagree. It's science. I'm sorry. It's science. If you're wearing

00:07:47.600 a mask, it's a different story. It's not science. 500 people in a Lowe's aren't any safer than 150

00:07:52.640 people in a restaurant that holds 600. I don't believe it. Sorry. Don't believe it. Okay. And I

00:07:58.260 live in an area where there's a lot of restaurants that have fought back and they don't have any

00:08:02.280 problems. And they're open. Okay. You don't have to believe it, but let me just say this. You're

00:08:07.280 doing a disservice to the viewer because the viewers need to understand it. You are doing a

00:08:11.240 disservice to the viewer. You are. You are. I, I, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. If, if, if, I, I would like to

00:08:19.760 keep our viewers as healthy as humanly possible. The idea of packing people into restaurants. I think

00:08:24.560 our viewers are smart enough to make part of those decisions on their own. I don't think that I'm much

00:08:29.320 smarter than all the viewers like some people do.

00:08:32.220 I've recently spent some time in Los Angeles and it is so sad how a vibrant, diverse, exciting

00:08:43.500 city has been hollowed out by lockdowns over the coronavirus. One restaurant owner shared

00:08:50.340 that frustration recently. Take a listen. So this is my place, the Pineapple Hill Grill and

00:08:55.140 Saloon. If you go to my page, you can see all the work I did for outdoor dining for tables being

00:09:00.200 seven feet apart. And I come in today because I'm organizing a protest and I came in to get

00:09:06.320 stuck for that.

00:09:07.760 And I walk into my parking lot and obviously Mayor Garcetti has approved

00:09:15.320 this being set up for, for a movie company. I'm losing everything. Everything I own is being

00:09:36.880 taken away from me. And they set up a movie company right next to my outdoor patio, which

00:09:43.440 is right over here. And people wonder why I'm protesting and why I have had enough. They have

00:09:52.200 not given us money and they have shut us down. We cannot survive. My staff cannot survive.

00:09:57.840 Look at this. Tell me that this is dangerous. But right next to me as a slap in my face. That's

00:10:06.680 safe. This is safe. 50 feet away. This is dangerous. Mayor Garcetti and Gavin Newsom

00:10:15.440 is responsible for every single person that doesn't have unemployment, that does not have

00:10:21.240 a job and all the businesses that are going under. And we need your help. We need somebody

00:10:27.440 to do something about this.

00:10:29.360 Here's my hot take. Restaurants should be open. And yes, we should have innovations that

00:10:35.680 allow us to be safer, like menu-less ordering, like contactless payment, like masks and distancing

00:10:43.720 where appropriate. But this notion that we're going to take people from inside a restaurant

00:10:48.440 and then build a tent outside the restaurant and then put the people in the tent and they're 0.56

00:10:53.320 somehow going to be safer is ludicrous. And the notion that we're going to shut down the

00:10:58.960 experience dining industry altogether is devastating to our fellow Americans and their families who rely

00:11:06.720 on it. And this restaurant owner correctly shared that frustration. And I stand with them. I stand

00:11:13.440 with those who want the dignity of work. So much we do in government is to try to get people to want

00:11:19.760 to work. And here we have millions upon millions of our fellow Americans who want to, who through no fault

00:11:26.560 of their own, are seeing their government take away their livelihoods and in some cases their lives.

00:11:33.120 Open America up. Let Americans make smart choices. If there are those with medical frailties who need

00:11:40.240 to stay inside longer, let's make sure they have every support system to be able to honor that choice.

00:11:46.880 But for those of us who make the choice to go out and live our lives, we should be able to eat inside,

00:11:53.840 like human beings, supporting our fellow Americans, their businesses, their goals, and their prosperity.

00:12:03.920 The politically correct Woketopians have canceled Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima, and now maybe even Uncle Sam. 0.96

00:12:13.760 That's right, Politico has put out a video offering a critique of the utilization of an old skinny white guy

00:12:22.240 for Uncle Sam. Take a listen. Uncle Sam has served as our national avatar for a very long time,

00:12:27.920 but it's fair to ask. Maybe it's time to come up with an avatar that better represents the diversity

00:12:33.040 of the country. As a cartoonist, I love the old guy and I lean on him all the time in my cartoons.

00:12:38.240 It's not just me, but other cartoonists, designers, patriotic propagandists of all stripes have relied on

00:12:43.760 Uncle Sam as a handy and durable symbol of the U.S. government for a couple of centuries.

00:12:48.960 He's evolved in small ways over the years. His costumes varied, his hat and necktie get reworked

00:12:53.920 a bit, but fundamentally Uncle Sam's remained the same skinny white guy with a stringy goatee for a

00:12:59.920 very long time. 208 years, as a matter of fact. I started to wonder. It's 2020, and over the past

00:13:06.240 couple years we've been reckoning with representation in our national symbology. Monuments and statues of

00:13:12.320 marble and bronze that were once accepted as national icons are being questioned and reconsidered.

00:13:17.920 Some are coming down. Don't get me wrong. Uncle Sam isn't Robert E. Lee. I'm not out to topple a venerated

00:13:23.920 icon. Like I said, I like the old guy, but as one old white guy to another old white guy, maybe it's not

00:13:29.760 surprising that he works for me. Maybe it's time to recast Uncle Sam and come up with something

00:13:35.520 that better reflects America. This is just ridiculous. If people want to add to the American 0.98

00:13:42.640 avatar collection, there are so many opportunities. You don't have to change Uncle Sam. I mean,

00:13:48.640 what are we going to do? Have Uncle Sam come out as transgendered? You know, is he going to be 0.99

00:13:53.200 transitioning? I don't know if that means he becomes Aunt Sally or Uncle Sally or Aunt Sam,

00:14:01.600 but it's just so present in the minds of people in our day to attach everything to identity.

00:14:08.640 It's not about what Uncle Sam represents. It's not about sometimes the patriotic and comical and

00:14:15.760 inspiring utilization of the image. It's just about a way to virtue signal. And that doesn't do anything

00:14:24.080 to advance the cause of our country. It uses identity to try to re-inscribe differences and division,

00:14:32.240 rather than to create a common sense of unity. So I stand with Uncle Sam as he is, current race, 1.00

00:14:39.680 current gender, maybe modernize the wardrobe a little. 1.00

00:14:46.400 Congratulations to Congresswoman Alex Ocasio-Cortez. In addition to being the outspoken

00:14:53.920 Democrat socialist from New York State, she is also the employee of the month for Goya Foods.

00:15:01.440 That's right. Goya Foods president and CEO Bob Rainier revealed that after AOC echoed a call for

00:15:08.720 a boycott of Goya products back in July because he supported President Trump, his company named her

00:15:15.280 employee of the month because sales rose so dramatically. We get the story from the Daily

00:15:21.280 Wire. And, you know, I remember this conflict. I remember talking to some of the senior executives

00:15:26.160 at Goya Foods. And frankly, they were elated at all the attention. And there were a lot of folks who

00:15:32.560 made sure that when they were in that canned vegetable line in the grocery store that they

00:15:38.000 reached for Goya first. So I guess they're glad that AOC took so much time to recognize their contribution

00:15:45.280 to the political debate. And we congratulate Alex Ocasio-Cortez on being a Goya Foods employee

00:15:52.720 of the month. Thanks for listening to Hot Takes. I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz. This podcast is written,
