00:00:00.000 You ever watch this guy on television?
00:00:03.820 You all were not telling the truth and you should not be trusted.
00:00:06.540 Congressman Matt Gaetz, thank you for what you did for your country tonight.
00:00:09.280 Be offended with the Democratic whip, not House Republicans.
00:00:12.240 Like a machine, Matt Gaetz.
00:00:16.420 Welcome to Hot Takes. This is Congressman Matt Gaetz.
00:00:19.740 Let's talk about the news.
00:00:21.580 And the news for foreign exchange students is
00:00:24.500 you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here
00:00:27.840 if all of your classes are online.
00:00:30.820 That's right, the United States government giving guidance today
00:00:33.940 to foreign students and exchange students
00:00:36.180 that if the institution they're attending,
00:00:39.140 the institution that's hosting them,
00:00:40.780 is exclusively offering online courses that they are enrolled in,
00:00:45.300 that that is not a basis to stay in the United States.
00:00:48.420 They can take those courses from their home country.
00:00:51.900 That being said, if there is a blended or hybrid model
00:00:55.020 where there are some courses being taken in person,
00:00:57.840 then of course that student is permitted to stay.
00:01:01.240 I support this decision.
00:01:03.260 The United States of America, for too long,
00:01:06.980 has allowed our academic institutions to serve as a beachhead
00:01:11.220 for those who would do our country harm.
00:01:14.240 Time and again, we see Chinese students in particular
00:01:17.620 taking advantage to a disproportionate number
00:01:20.620 of these exchange educational opportunities.
00:01:23.380 Then they come to the United States,
00:01:25.500 they learn high-end computing, physics,
00:01:30.100 other types of rocket propulsion technology education.
00:01:35.260 And then they return back to China with AI knowledge
00:01:39.180 or machine learning knowledge,
00:01:40.720 and some of that skill set is being used to hurt our country
00:01:45.200 and to oppress people at times.
00:01:48.080 Now, I do believe that the visitor and exchange student program
00:01:51.620 is worthwhile.
00:01:53.060 I've had neighbors and friends participate in that program.
00:01:56.560 I've seen the good it can do for young people
00:01:59.300 who are excited about America
00:02:01.620 and who are eager to share America's values with others.
00:02:04.380 However, if you're engaging exclusively online,
00:02:07.080 you can get all those very same benefits
00:02:09.700 without being here in person
00:02:11.380 because the exchange itself will be happening digitally.
00:02:16.420 So, we wish the best for the students
00:02:18.980 who are able to continue that education online,
00:02:21.580 but it seems noteworthy and newsworthy
00:02:24.460 that just to hang out in America
00:02:27.900 in the absence of a physical place to go to school
00:02:30.960 is not sufficient to justify the exercise
00:02:34.200 of the student-visitor exchange program.
00:02:37.380 I support the decision by the administration,
00:02:39.140 and I'm hopeful that we have tighter controls
00:02:42.300 on foreign students who could potentially do America harm
00:02:46.020 in the future.
00:02:49.160 There are fewer takes hotter
00:02:51.400 than White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany
00:02:54.900 absolutely taking a flamethrower
00:02:58.020 to the White House Press Corps.
00:03:00.320 Here's Kayleigh.
00:03:00.960 I was asked probably 12 questions
00:03:03.460 about the Confederate flag.
00:03:05.220 This president's focused on action,
00:03:07.000 and I'm a little dismayed that
00:03:08.240 I didn't receive one question
00:03:09.940 on the deaths that we got in this country this weekend.
00:03:13.080 I didn't receive one question
00:03:14.420 about New York City shootings
00:03:16.040 doubling for the third straight week,
00:03:17.640 and over the last seven days,
00:03:18.960 shootings skyrocket by 142%.
00:03:21.540 Not one question.
00:03:23.520 I didn't receive one question
00:03:25.100 about five children who were killed,
00:03:27.340 and I'll leave you with this remark by a dad.
00:03:29.320 It broke my heart.
00:03:30.540 A dad of an eight-year-old lost in Atlanta this weekend.
00:03:33.040 They say black lives matters.
00:03:34.900 You killed a child.
00:03:36.060 She didn't do nothing to nobody, was his quote.
00:03:38.100 We need to be focused on securing our streets,
00:03:41.040 making sure no lives are lost
00:03:42.980 because all black lives matter,
00:03:44.640 that of David Dorn and that of this eight-year-old girl.
00:03:47.560 Thank you.
00:03:48.200 And I can see why she's frustrated
00:03:50.220 when you have the policies of Democrats
00:03:52.960 continuing to contribute to harm
00:03:55.540 to our fellow Americans,
00:03:57.320 death, the loss of loved ones and children,
00:04:01.240 and it's totally avoidable.
00:04:03.780 There is a reason why we have policing
00:04:06.400 and law and order
00:04:07.680 and an organized society in the United States.
00:04:11.180 There's a reason we don't live
00:04:13.740 like savages of human beings.
00:04:16.140 We actually should care about one another,
00:04:18.880 work towards better outcomes for one another,
00:04:21.300 and this chop, chas, autonomous zone dynamic
00:04:26.000 hurts Americans.
00:04:27.260 It doesn't help us,
00:04:28.540 and that's why we need to do away with them
00:04:30.480 and restore this great country.
00:04:32.200 Good job, Kaylee.
00:04:35.780 Gannett Media is one of the major media conglomerates
00:04:39.680 in the United States of America.
00:04:41.380 If you have not heard of them,
00:04:43.240 you very likely heard of one of the many daily
00:04:46.120 and weekly newspapers that they own around the country.
00:04:49.340 Matter of fact, Gannett Media owns both
00:04:51.720 of the major newspapers in my congressional district
00:04:54.680 that have daily service,
00:04:56.480 the Pensacola News Journal
00:04:57.480 and the Northwest Florida Daily News.
00:04:59.300 So I'm on the Northwest Florida Daily News website
00:05:02.020 and I see a banner link at the top of the page
00:05:04.780 saying, silence is not an option.
00:05:07.540 So I click on the link
00:05:08.820 and it takes me to a page
00:05:10.460 that describes how Gannett is dealing
00:05:13.520 with this Black Lives Matter moment in our country.
00:05:17.020 It talks about how their reporting
00:05:18.560 is going to change to accentuate
00:05:21.180 and cover systemic racism in America.
00:05:24.000 They state within their purpose
00:05:27.900 and viewpoint that they believe
00:05:30.080 that there is systemic racism in America.
00:05:33.220 And while there undeniably are racists
00:05:35.720 in every country,
00:05:37.800 America is not a racist nation.
00:05:41.020 America is not a systemically racist nation.
00:05:44.160 America is the greatest country on earth
00:05:46.400 where people of all background, color,
00:05:49.100 where people who are born
00:05:50.780 to all types of circumstances
00:05:52.560 can achieve the highest heights,
00:05:55.200 can achieve the highest political offices,
00:05:57.420 can make billions of dollars,
00:05:59.760 and can define their own destiny.
00:06:02.400 The capability to write your own story
00:06:06.280 is so fundamentally American
00:06:09.260 that we cannot just give it up
00:06:12.500 as a consequence of modern wokeness.
00:06:15.280 We have to acknowledge, embrace,
00:06:17.120 and fight for an America
00:06:18.700 that always allows our best
00:06:20.900 to rise to the top
00:06:22.440 no matter what the color
00:06:24.020 of their skin may be.
00:06:26.400 But that's not, apparently,
00:06:28.140 Gannett's viewpoint exclusively
00:06:30.140 because they go further
00:06:31.800 with, I think,
00:06:32.960 some pretty destructive content.
00:06:35.440 So in this page
00:06:37.060 that describes their new reporting philosophy
00:06:39.400 and their belief in systemic racism
00:06:41.820 as an organizing principle of America,
00:06:44.220 they also have a link
00:06:45.560 that is entitled Ally Resources.
00:06:47.940 And there is a description
00:06:49.280 that there are a hundred things
00:06:51.480 that someone could do
00:06:53.460 to take action
00:06:54.740 to fight against systemic racism.
00:06:57.960 And so I click on the
00:06:58.860 100 things you can do link.
00:07:01.140 And number 20 on that list
00:07:03.540 is to support a petition,
00:07:06.700 an entity, a fund, a cause
00:07:08.820 that is hashtag defund the police.
00:07:12.680 That's a bunch of BS.
00:07:15.180 American newspapers
00:07:16.180 should not be driving
00:07:17.720 their viewers,
00:07:19.000 their readers,
00:07:19.820 to an entity
00:07:20.980 that stands to dismantle
00:07:22.720 law enforcement in our country.
00:07:24.700 It is sick.
00:07:25.840 It is anti-American.
00:07:27.800 It is so degrading
00:07:29.720 and unfair
00:07:30.560 to the readers
00:07:32.080 of Gannett content
00:07:33.240 who are members
00:07:34.760 of law enforcement,
00:07:35.760 who are family members
00:07:36.800 of law enforcement,
00:07:38.020 to see this media company
00:07:40.000 go so far to the left,
00:07:42.680 go so far out of whack
00:07:44.280 with America that they would
00:07:45.800 literally be pushing
00:07:46.800 their subscribers
00:07:47.620 and readers to support
00:07:49.320 the defunding of the police.
00:07:51.760 Defunding the police is crazy.
00:07:54.100 I will never support it.
00:07:55.700 And the American people
00:07:56.720 need to wake up to the fact
00:07:58.180 that the companies
00:07:59.440 that sell the products we buy,
00:08:01.500 the companies that write
00:08:03.120 the news that we read,
00:08:05.160 oftentimes are not looking out
00:08:07.320 for the best interest of America.
00:08:09.240 And it's sad to say
00:08:10.180 because engagement
00:08:11.620 of the private sector
00:08:12.740 used to accelerate patriotism.
00:08:15.820 It used to give patriots
00:08:17.600 tools in the United States
00:08:19.400 of America
00:08:19.900 that they didn't have
00:08:20.940 in other parts of the world.
00:08:22.580 But more and more,
00:08:24.000 we're starting to see
00:08:24.920 this corporate shift
00:08:26.240 to the far left,
00:08:28.000 the embrace of anti-Americanism,
00:08:30.340 the degradation
00:08:31.040 and demoralization
00:08:32.360 of our police.
00:08:33.720 And that's why we need
00:08:34.640 strong leaders
00:08:35.360 to stand up
00:08:36.760 for our country,
00:08:38.080 for our values,
00:08:39.140 for our principles,
00:08:40.180 and against these entities
00:08:41.700 that would embrace
00:08:42.980 an element of anti-Americanism
00:08:44.900 that should not exist
00:08:46.100 in our country.
00:08:48.880 We need police in America
00:08:51.480 and American society.
00:08:53.900 That seems so obvious.
00:08:55.760 It seems too obvious
00:08:57.000 to even have to say
00:08:58.120 time and again
00:08:58.900 on my podcast
00:08:59.960 and in my public service.
00:09:01.780 But when we see
00:09:02.700 the New York Police Department
00:09:04.220 being crippled
00:09:06.440 by funding cuts,
00:09:07.900 when we see
00:09:08.580 all across America
00:09:09.760 now law enforcement
00:09:10.900 unable to achieve
00:09:12.480 recruiting goals
00:09:14.300 and objectives,
00:09:14.960 when we see
00:09:15.820 retirements
00:09:16.700 that are accelerating
00:09:17.780 at a rapid pace,
00:09:19.040 it is just always important
00:09:21.040 to thank law enforcement
00:09:22.940 and to recognize
00:09:24.100 the good that they do.
00:09:25.340 This last video
00:09:26.240 was all over social media.
00:09:27.540 It is a Chicago
00:09:29.000 apparent gang member
00:09:30.880 with a gun
00:09:32.200 on his lap
00:09:33.260 talking about
00:09:34.300 how if he has
00:09:35.000 an encounter with police,
00:09:36.160 he's going to kill them
00:09:37.580 and then he repeatedly
00:09:38.860 mimics the sound
00:09:40.200 of gunshots
00:09:41.620 and apparently
00:09:42.800 someone dealing
00:09:43.780 with those gunshots
00:09:44.720 in a negative way.
00:09:45.580 So here's your
00:09:46.620 local neighborhood
00:09:47.580 gangbanger.
00:09:48.240 He don't want no smoke.
00:09:49.880 We're going to kill him.
00:09:52.400 Drop your lolo,
00:09:53.320 we're going to kill him.
00:09:55.000 On twin grade,
00:09:55.760 my gun's in my lap.
00:09:57.440 He's going to get hit
00:09:58.020 and it's hurt.
00:09:59.500 On twin,
00:10:00.220 I'll kill him
00:10:00.780 and you tweak it up.
00:10:02.920 On twin,
00:10:03.700 I'll really kill him.
00:10:05.380 You hear me?
00:10:05.780 He's going to get hurt.
00:10:07.340 Kill him.
00:10:08.240 Catch him.
00:10:08.880 Where you going, boy?
00:10:09.700 Come here.
00:10:10.480 Bring that a** in, boy.
00:10:11.700 Stop playing with us.
00:10:12.880 Boy, come here.
00:10:13.620 And so you can see
00:10:14.640 that law enforcement
00:10:16.220 who are likely
00:10:17.040 to encounter
00:10:17.760 this type of
00:10:18.780 a confrontational environment
00:10:20.380 without the body armor,
00:10:22.880 without the backup,
00:10:24.580 without the immunities,
00:10:26.040 without the requisite
00:10:27.680 force application
00:10:29.680 could be in
00:10:30.760 a tremendous amount
00:10:31.640 of danger.
00:10:32.240 That's why we are
00:10:33.060 chipping away
00:10:33.880 at policing
00:10:35.240 in such a corrosive way
00:10:38.000 right now
00:10:38.540 because there are people
00:10:39.540 who would put this
00:10:41.120 virtue signal
00:10:42.880 over the actual virtue
00:10:45.280 of keeping folks safe.
00:10:47.360 So if this gangbanger
00:10:48.520 were to run into police,
00:10:50.360 I'd want the law
00:10:51.440 to be on the side
00:10:52.120 of the police.
00:10:53.200 If this gangbanger
00:10:54.180 were to run into
00:10:55.600 an innocent person
00:10:56.840 just wanting to go
00:10:57.620 about their life,
00:10:58.880 I would want them
00:10:59.880 to have every reason
00:11:00.920 not to cause harm
00:11:02.320 to an American
00:11:03.440 who just wanted
00:11:04.560 the opportunity
00:11:05.220 to live free
00:11:06.420 and prosperous
00:11:07.280 and happy.
00:11:08.300 We all deserve that
00:11:09.780 and it's certainly
00:11:11.240 my hope
00:11:11.820 that as a country
00:11:12.700 we rally around
00:11:14.000 our law enforcement
00:11:14.900 and our police.
00:11:17.940 Susan Rice
00:11:19.020 is out auditioning hard
00:11:21.040 for Vice President
00:11:22.080 of the United States
00:11:23.320 hitting the Sunday
00:11:24.720 show circuit
00:11:26.060 to try to
00:11:27.300 make Joe Biden
00:11:28.100 pick her.
00:11:29.140 Please, Joe Biden,
00:11:30.580 pick Susan Rice
00:11:31.460 to be your running mate.
00:11:32.920 She is like
00:11:33.700 the laundry list
00:11:35.900 of bad scandals
00:11:37.400 that Democrats
00:11:38.000 have had to deal with
00:11:39.380 and just
00:11:39.820 bonehead statements.
00:11:41.780 I mean,
00:11:42.120 go all the way back
00:11:43.000 to Bo Bergdahl.
00:11:44.720 Remember that
00:11:45.340 when the Obama
00:11:46.060 administration
00:11:46.820 engaged in this
00:11:48.340 goofy prisoner swap
00:11:50.080 where we were getting
00:11:50.860 back this guy
00:11:51.740 who just sort of
00:11:52.880 wandered off
00:11:53.620 and wanted to go
00:11:54.860 find some Taliban
00:11:56.040 to engage with
00:11:57.360 in the absence
00:11:57.980 of our military
00:11:59.520 and the tactics
00:12:01.340 and strategy
00:12:02.460 that we would use
00:12:03.160 to keep all of our
00:12:03.920 service members safe?
00:12:04.840 No, he just went out
00:12:05.580 to do it on his own
00:12:06.400 and then when we
00:12:07.460 wanted him back
00:12:08.200 we engaged in this
00:12:09.740 swap, this exchange
00:12:10.880 that really put
00:12:12.440 a lot of Americans
00:12:13.300 at risk
00:12:13.800 because if the enemy
00:12:15.060 knows that you're
00:12:16.000 willing to do
00:12:17.120 this type of exchange
00:12:18.140 to get one of your
00:12:18.960 own back
00:12:19.520 well then they're
00:12:20.200 more likely
00:12:20.900 to take Americans
00:12:22.380 hostage.
00:12:23.040 Now here
00:12:23.400 Bo Bergdahl
00:12:24.440 had made that easy
00:12:25.460 by simply
00:12:26.200 wandering around
00:12:27.540 searching for Taliban
00:12:28.660 but other Americans
00:12:30.440 will be put
00:12:31.520 in harm's way
00:12:32.340 still as a consequence
00:12:34.080 of that decision
00:12:35.020 by the Obama
00:12:35.740 administration
00:12:36.420 and Susan Rice
00:12:37.760 was a central player
00:12:39.040 she was also
00:12:40.720 a central player
00:12:41.600 in the Benghazi scandal
00:12:42.900 it was in fact
00:12:44.360 Susan Rice
00:12:45.520 who went out
00:12:46.280 and said that
00:12:47.340 the Benghazi attacks
00:12:49.380 were a consequence
00:12:50.600 of a viral
00:12:52.040 internet video
00:12:52.980 there was a
00:12:53.840 hateful video
00:12:55.640 that was disseminated
00:12:57.640 on the internet
00:12:58.880 it had nothing
00:13:00.180 to do with
00:13:00.860 the United States
00:13:01.540 government
00:13:01.920 and it's one
00:13:02.640 that we find
00:13:03.800 disgusting
00:13:04.420 and reprehensible
00:13:05.140 it's been offensive
00:13:05.780 to many many people
00:13:06.860 around the world
00:13:07.560 that sparked
00:13:08.640 violence in various
00:13:09.920 parts of the world
00:13:10.720 including violence
00:13:11.800 directed against
00:13:12.500 western facilities
00:13:13.380 including our
00:13:14.140 embassies and consulates
00:13:15.560 unbelievable
00:13:16.180 the Benghazi attacks
00:13:18.740 were known to be
00:13:20.220 specific attacks
00:13:21.740 meant to overrun
00:13:22.880 the embassy
00:13:23.420 meant to harm
00:13:24.480 Americans
00:13:25.040 meant to send a message
00:13:26.120 but the Obama
00:13:27.180 administration
00:13:27.800 and Susan Rice
00:13:28.540 in particular
00:13:29.180 didn't want to take
00:13:30.540 responsibility
00:13:31.260 for not having
00:13:32.400 the right response
00:13:33.680 for not having
00:13:34.600 the right force
00:13:35.240 structure
00:13:35.700 for not having
00:13:36.540 the right protection
00:13:37.180 for Americans
00:13:37.860 and so they went out
00:13:39.240 and blamed a video
00:13:40.400 that would look
00:13:41.540 pretty foolish today
00:13:42.600 but the biggest
00:13:44.740 mistake
00:13:45.380 that Susan Rice
00:13:46.540 made
00:13:46.920 was undeniably
00:13:48.260 the unmasking
00:13:49.280 of General Michael Flynn
00:13:50.680 Susan Rice
00:13:52.020 was directly involved
00:13:53.720 in the unmasking
00:13:54.580 of General Flynn
00:13:55.380 she said
00:13:56.420 there had not been
00:13:57.120 unmasking done
00:13:58.040 for political purposes
00:13:59.260 and that turned out
00:14:00.760 to be a lie
00:14:01.340 clearly these meetings
00:14:02.960 with Obama
00:14:04.400 Biden
00:14:05.460 Susan Rice
00:14:06.740 talking about ways
00:14:08.360 to contrive
00:14:09.860 some investigation
00:14:10.720 against Flynn
00:14:12.060 to try to utilize
00:14:13.340 this phone call
00:14:14.520 between Flynn
00:14:15.360 and the Russian
00:14:16.200 ambassador Kislyak
00:14:17.540 as some sort of
00:14:18.560 predicate
00:14:19.020 to either
00:14:20.220 dislodge him
00:14:21.820 from the administration
00:14:22.660 or even
00:14:23.880 as the case may be
00:14:25.240 to trump up
00:14:26.620 criminal charges
00:14:27.420 to try to smear
00:14:28.860 someone
00:14:29.460 who had not
00:14:30.780 violated the law
00:14:31.740 in his interactions
00:14:32.600 with Russians
00:14:33.400 or the FBI
00:14:34.160 or anyone else
00:14:35.120 so three scandals
00:14:37.040 Bergdahl
00:14:38.040 Benghazi
00:14:39.100 and Flynn
00:14:39.940 if Susan Rice
00:14:41.260 is the best
00:14:42.000 Joe Biden can do
00:14:43.080 we're going to be
00:14:44.100 making America
00:14:44.860 great again
00:14:45.540 for at least
00:14:46.300 another four years
00:14:47.300 George Washington
00:14:50.580 the father
00:14:51.780 of our country
00:14:52.880 America's first
00:14:54.100 president
00:14:54.620 is apparently
00:14:55.760 on thin ice
00:14:56.660 when it comes
00:14:57.420 to cancel culture
00:14:59.040 listen to this
00:15:00.140 CNN interview
00:15:01.260 between Dana Bash
00:15:03.100 and U.S.
00:15:03.880 Senator Tammy Duckworth
00:15:04.980 there are
00:15:05.680 leaders like
00:15:06.540 George Washington
00:15:07.280 and Thomas Jefferson
00:15:08.360 who are slave owners
00:15:09.260 and some people
00:15:10.360 are demanding
00:15:10.920 that their monuments
00:15:11.960 come down too
00:15:12.920 so in your view
00:15:14.240 where does it end
00:15:14.940 should statues
00:15:15.880 for example
00:15:16.940 of George Washington
00:15:17.800 come down
00:15:18.460 well let me just say
00:15:20.480 that we should start off
00:15:21.380 by having a national dialogue
00:15:22.580 on it
00:15:23.140 he spent all his time
00:15:23.820 talking about
00:15:24.300 dead traitors
00:15:25.500 so that might be
00:15:26.460 made true
00:15:27.080 but George Washington
00:15:28.340 I don't think anybody
00:15:29.760 would call him a traitor
00:15:30.720 and there are moves
00:15:32.200 by some
00:15:32.760 to remove
00:15:34.020 statues of him
00:15:35.640 is that a good idea
00:15:36.860 I think we should
00:15:38.440 listen to everybody
00:15:39.340 I think we should
00:15:40.280 listen to
00:15:41.020 the argument there
00:15:42.540 where we are
00:15:43.160 in our country
00:15:43.960 right now
00:15:44.620 I think Senator Duckworth
00:15:46.240 deserves a history lesson
00:15:47.920 after the revolutionary war
00:15:50.280 there was an expectation
00:15:51.900 there was an expectation
00:15:51.920 that Washington
00:15:53.080 would become king
00:15:54.340 that he would seize all power
00:15:56.200 and that was a reasonable expectation
00:15:58.300 because at all other times
00:16:00.620 in human history
00:16:01.520 whenever the great general
00:16:03.240 wins the war
00:16:04.560 drives out the oppressors
00:16:06.560 seizes the territory
00:16:07.820 whatever the case may be
00:16:09.360 that general assumes political power
00:16:12.100 and maintains it
00:16:13.140 until a stronger force
00:16:14.780 comes along
00:16:15.480 to take it away
00:16:16.700 or until it is
00:16:17.480 bequeathed to some
00:16:19.080 family member
00:16:20.120 or political ally
00:16:21.760 and in this case
00:16:23.200 Washington saw
00:16:24.300 something bigger
00:16:25.400 something greater
00:16:26.280 he was even more
00:16:27.720 ambitious for America
00:16:29.440 this new fledgling country
00:16:31.540 than he even was
00:16:32.640 for himself
00:16:33.220 my favorite piece of art
00:16:35.720 in the entire capital
00:16:37.240 is underneath
00:16:38.360 the rotunda
00:16:39.840 of the portrait
00:16:41.520 the image
00:16:42.220 the painting
00:16:42.820 of George Washington
00:16:44.300 after the revolutionary war
00:16:46.080 returning to the
00:16:47.300 constitutional congress
00:16:48.360 and resigning
00:16:50.120 his commission
00:16:51.160 as the general
00:16:52.340 essentially saying
00:16:53.720 he was willing
00:16:54.940 to cede power
00:16:56.540 back to the people
00:16:57.480 not to take it
00:16:58.480 to go back to his farm
00:17:00.000 in Virginia
00:17:00.540 and to live a normal life
00:17:02.040 now of course
00:17:02.760 Washington would then
00:17:04.120 be elected president
00:17:05.340 he would be elected
00:17:06.760 president again
00:17:07.780 and after eight years
00:17:09.000 of service
00:17:09.560 as our nation's
00:17:11.660 top leader
00:17:12.280 George Washington
00:17:13.320 could have continued
00:17:14.220 but again
00:17:15.180 he gave away power
00:17:17.000 he term limited himself
00:17:19.000 he set the standard
00:17:20.260 for selfless
00:17:22.580 sacrificial leadership
00:17:24.220 in America
00:17:25.360 George Washington
00:17:26.900 is America's
00:17:27.820 best known president
00:17:28.980 because he's
00:17:29.720 the first president
00:17:31.000 but I still think
00:17:33.040 in a way
00:17:33.940 he's underrated
00:17:35.060 because what's special
00:17:36.860 about Washington
00:17:37.620 is not just that he won
00:17:38.920 it's not just that
00:17:39.960 he was a great leader
00:17:41.440 and a military tactician
00:17:43.500 and someone capable
00:17:44.460 of inspiring people
00:17:46.360 who had very little
00:17:47.300 to deserve victory
00:17:48.740 it's that he didn't
00:17:49.760 do it for himself
00:17:50.560 it's that he did it
00:17:51.900 for the power
00:17:53.540 of a country
00:17:54.420 to rise
00:17:55.600 and be successful
00:17:56.660 I will always
00:17:58.500 cherish
00:17:59.200 George Washington
00:18:00.140 and sure there are
00:18:01.660 characters
00:18:02.560 in our history
00:18:03.320 Washington included
00:18:04.440 who if judged
00:18:05.700 by the standards
00:18:06.580 of today's time
00:18:07.520 wouldn't meet
00:18:09.080 our level
00:18:10.240 of societal acceptance
00:18:12.320 or understanding
00:18:13.300 in every case
00:18:14.280 but that does not
00:18:15.680 mean that we diminish
00:18:17.400 their contributions
00:18:18.480 to America
00:18:19.440 George Washington
00:18:20.920 was a great president
00:18:22.360 he was a great
00:18:23.520 founding father
00:18:24.320 he should not be
00:18:25.540 canceled
00:18:25.960 and Senator Tammy Duckworth
00:18:28.000 should pick up
00:18:28.920 a history book
00:18:29.740 Amy Cooper
00:18:32.800 a name you've seen
00:18:34.440 in the news
00:18:35.040 now associated
00:18:36.300 with racism
00:18:37.760 and potentially
00:18:38.960 criminal activity
00:18:40.080 so here's the story
00:18:41.460 she is a white woman
00:18:43.200 walking her dog
00:18:44.480 in Central Park
00:18:45.540 in New York
00:18:46.180 and there is
00:18:47.200 an African American man
00:18:48.740 who is there
00:18:49.380 in Central Park
00:18:50.180 bird watching
00:18:51.280 and he encouraged her
00:18:54.000 to put her dog
00:18:54.960 on a leash
00:18:55.540 she clearly seems
00:18:57.440 to have a leash
00:18:58.300 I guess
00:18:58.700 in this video
00:18:59.360 that's circulating
00:19:00.160 and instead of
00:19:01.480 complying
00:19:02.220 instead of
00:19:02.940 even not complying
00:19:04.340 she decides to
00:19:05.660 call the New York
00:19:06.500 Police Department
00:19:07.740 on this African American man
00:19:09.360 and say that he's
00:19:09.940 threatening her life
00:19:10.840 because she won't
00:19:12.100 put her dog
00:19:13.000 on a leash
00:19:13.500 and now
00:19:14.620 Amy Cooper
00:19:15.680 faces criminal charges
00:19:17.600 herself
00:19:18.200 for filing
00:19:19.220 a false police report
00:19:20.520 and the man
00:19:21.580 who was the subject
00:19:23.080 of that false report
00:19:24.160 is calling her
00:19:25.360 a racist
00:19:26.060 so it's clear here
00:19:28.240 Amy Cooper
00:19:28.980 does not use
00:19:30.060 good judgment
00:19:31.080 there is an
00:19:31.780 African American man
00:19:32.840 I am in Central Park
00:19:34.020 he is recording me
00:19:35.340 I'm threatening myself
00:19:36.440 and my dog
00:19:37.040 I'm being threatened
00:19:37.920 by a man
00:19:38.540 into the ramble
00:19:39.220 police send the cops
00:19:40.420 immediately
00:19:40.900 she seems frantic
00:19:42.440 hysterical
00:19:43.340 obviously if someone's
00:19:44.780 bird watching
00:19:45.400 they don't need
00:19:46.080 the police called on them
00:19:47.380 but for someone
00:19:48.960 to commit a crime
00:19:50.240 they have to have
00:19:51.420 the intent
00:19:52.140 for criminal activity
00:19:54.440 they have to
00:19:55.240 have the intent
00:19:56.320 to break the law
00:19:57.600 here
00:19:58.440 this woman
00:19:59.240 seems to
00:19:59.840 just have the intent
00:20:01.100 to cause harm
00:20:02.820 back to this person
00:20:03.980 who disrupts her
00:20:05.480 by calling her
00:20:06.640 out for not having
00:20:07.440 her dog on the leash
00:20:08.360 in Central Park
00:20:09.640 so bad judgment
00:20:11.940 yes
00:20:12.680 racist
00:20:14.000 there is probably
00:20:15.880 a racial element
00:20:16.720 to this
00:20:17.100 like I'm not sure
00:20:17.960 that she would
00:20:18.760 call the police
00:20:20.080 if this was
00:20:20.940 a white guy
00:20:21.460 she probably would
00:20:22.300 just tell him off
00:20:23.060 or ignore him
00:20:23.680 but maybe she thought
00:20:24.720 she could get away
00:20:25.480 with it
00:20:25.740 calling the police
00:20:26.540 but I'm not sure
00:20:27.480 it's a crime
00:20:28.080 so we'll see
00:20:29.320 but know that
00:20:30.960 if you're
00:20:31.880 gonna call the police
00:20:33.040 on somebody
00:20:33.640 and you don't
00:20:34.540 have a basis
00:20:35.200 to do so
00:20:35.880 that's probably
00:20:36.800 a bad idea
00:20:37.640 no matter what
00:20:38.680 color you are

00:20:57.560 at times
00:20:58.260 and I understand
00:20:59.220 that
00:20:59.600 we're working on it
00:21:00.520 I hear ya
00:21:01.220 but part of the
00:21:02.260 magic of this podcast

00:21:14.100 of a rental car
00:21:14.960 driving through
