00:00:00.000 You ever watch this guy on television?
00:00:03.860 You all were not telling the truth and you should not be trusted.
00:00:06.900 Congressman Matt Gaetz, thank you for what you did for your country tonight.
00:00:09.320 Be offended with the Democratic whip, not House of Republicans.
00:00:12.280 Like a machine, Matt Gaetz.
00:00:16.020 Welcome to Hot Takes, I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz.
00:00:19.000 Sorry we missed you yesterday.
00:00:20.820 Sometimes the airplane delays and the motorcade changes in schedule
00:00:25.260 don't always match up with our expectations to record the podcast.
00:00:29.520 I'm still reporting in from on the road in the great state of Florida.
00:00:33.680 Was here yesterday with the president.
00:00:36.000 We're glad to have you back.
00:00:37.960 Let's talk about the news.
00:00:39.360 The news that is coming out of the White House today is concern and frustration
00:00:43.780 with the leadership of Christopher Wray at the FBI.
00:00:47.520 Mark Meadows this morning, take a listen.
00:00:49.920 Well, with all due respect to Director Wray, he has a hard time finding emails in his own FBI,
00:00:55.880 let alone figuring out whether there's any kind of voter fraud.
00:01:01.020 This is a very different case.
00:01:02.660 The rules are being changed.
00:01:04.140 And so what I'm suggesting is perhaps he can drill down on the investigation that just started.
00:01:09.780 Others that we're seeing in North Carolina and other places where multiple ballots,
00:01:14.920 duplicate ballots are being sent out.
00:01:17.020 Perhaps he needs to get involved on the ground and then he would change his testimony on Capitol Hill.
00:01:21.880 When the chief of staff says that there are varying degrees of confidence that apply to people
00:01:27.040 in response to a question about Christopher Wray, it seems to indicate his days may be numbered.
00:01:33.060 Here's my hot take.
00:01:34.680 Christopher Wray has not done enough to drain the swamp at the FBI.
00:01:40.020 He hasn't held people accountable.
00:01:42.620 He hasn't fired enough of the bad actors.
00:01:45.060 And he's defended the FBI when, frankly, oftentimes, in the context of the president,
00:01:51.940 their conduct has been indefensible.
00:01:54.760 People changing evidence, sending text messages, evidencing bias.
00:02:00.240 And then even when you have people sharing that the president is right,
00:02:04.340 that this was a setup of Flynn, that this was improper,
00:02:07.760 you don't seem to see the type of bold leadership and bold action at the top of the FBI that we need.
00:02:13.260 I don't give President Trump HR advice, but I think we could do a lot better at the FBI than Christopher Wray.
00:02:20.980 And in the meantime, there are important things that need to happen to expose this corruption.
00:02:26.640 The Durham investigation should result in findings by the end of the month.
00:02:32.100 I believe those findings should lead to indictments.
00:02:35.640 We'll see if that happens.
00:02:37.160 But justice has to be served.
00:02:38.740 And I'm doubtful that we're going to get that justice with Christopher Wray leading the FBI.
00:02:47.020 President Trump was in Jacksonville, Florida, yesterday.
00:02:50.780 Take a listen.
00:02:51.480 These warriors, when I needed warriors, I had a representative, Matt Gaetz.
00:02:58.580 Peace with my Matt.
00:03:06.560 What a great guy.
00:03:08.980 What a guy.
00:03:11.720 Big future.
00:03:12.800 Thank you, Matt.
00:03:13.460 What a warrior.
00:03:14.500 Thank you.
00:03:16.040 But he's very shy on television, right?
00:03:17.940 I know this.
00:03:19.340 He's great.
00:03:20.120 Thank you, Matt.
00:03:20.660 For the entire summer, Joe Biden was silent as his far-left supporters assaulted police officers,
00:03:28.940 harassed innocent Americans, and set fire to buildings.
00:03:33.000 They were rioters.
00:03:34.200 They were looters.
00:03:35.820 They were anarchists.
00:03:37.580 He called them peaceful protesters.
00:03:40.060 He said they're peaceful protesters.
00:03:42.640 Joe, they're not peaceful.
00:03:44.360 Now, maybe he believes — he may believe it.
00:03:46.200 I mean, honestly, they may say they're peaceful.
00:03:47.840 Okay, I'll say they're peaceful.
00:03:49.600 I think he believes it.
00:03:50.900 I actually do.
00:03:51.920 It's the other ones that you have to worry about because they call the shots not him.
00:03:55.540 He's called for the ridiculous cutting of police funding, abolishing cash bail, if you can believe that,
00:04:04.320 and the closing of our prisons.
00:04:06.000 They want to close our prisons.
00:04:07.280 That's a good idea.
00:04:10.000 He even described law enforcement as the enemy.
00:04:12.860 He said law enforcement is the enemy.
00:04:14.880 Florida is changing politically.
00:04:17.820 Politico has the story.
00:04:19.000 There's something in the water in Florida, and here's the breakdown of the numbers.
00:04:23.720 When Barack Obama won, Democrats were, you know, looking at an 800,000-ish registration advantage in Florida.
00:04:32.420 Then when President Trump beat Hillary Clinton, you saw that cut in half, and it appears to be about halved yet again.
00:04:39.800 Here's my hot take.
00:04:40.740 Democrats are making a huge mistake by abandoning the campaign tactics that were successful during the Obama era.
00:04:49.100 Door-to-door campaigning, registering voters, turning folks out.
00:04:52.640 But the new, woke Biden-Harris campaign, I guess, is too paralyzed by the coronavirus, too constrained by political correctness or the fear of the wrong frame or the wrong image or the wrong optics or inconsistency between their activities and their messaging on coronavirus.
00:05:11.960 They're not going door-to-door.
00:05:14.100 They're not registering voters.
00:05:15.180 It's like the Republicans are out on the field scoring uncontested layups in voter registration in the Sunshine State.
00:05:22.060 And the result is they're not going to have that same reservoir of additional registered voters to be able to turn out.
00:05:30.020 Obviously, the Democrats are trying to overcome this by creating an unknowable universe of mail-out ballots.
00:05:37.800 Here in Florida, I'm less concerned about that dynamic because we've got good secretaries, a good secretary of state.
00:05:43.520 We've got good supervisors of elections.
00:05:45.180 We've got a good attorney general.
00:05:46.620 It's my expectation that we'll actually see a well-run, clean election in Florida, the place I'm most worried about is Pennsylvania.
00:05:56.320 They seem to be just, you know, printing ballots there like it's going out of style.
00:06:01.580 I'm hopeful we know on election night who the winner is and that we're able to restart the second successful term of our transformational president, Donald Trump.
00:06:11.340 I had the chance to take the stage alongside the president in Jacksonville.
00:06:19.420 Here were my remarks.
00:06:20.580 If you come to Florida to burn our cities, to destroy our monuments, to try to erase who we are and harm our people,
00:06:28.480 you're not going to the CHOP or the CHAZ or the Woketopia.
00:06:32.540 You're going to jail.
00:06:41.340 Here in Florida, here in Florida, we stand with law enforcement and the Democrats in Washington.
00:06:48.460 They say nothing as the cops who protect us are assaulted, some even killed.
00:06:55.440 Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff, they'd rather stand with a dirty cop like Jim Comey than the brave Americans who police our streets and keep us safe.
00:07:04.460 I'll leave you with this.
00:07:10.480 The other side, they go and riot in the streets.
00:07:15.160 They go march in the streets because they want to shame America.
00:07:19.000 But we got a different kind of march in mind.
00:07:21.460 We're going to be marching to the polls on election day and send the message that Donald Trump is going to stay the president.
00:07:27.380 So don't believe the media.
00:07:33.860 Don't believe these suppression polls.
00:07:35.700 There are people all over this great country.
00:07:38.260 They might not come to rallies like this.
00:07:40.560 They might not speak out like all of us do on social media and in support of our transformational president.
00:07:46.960 But they can speak with their vote.
00:07:49.120 And they're coming to vote.
00:07:50.200 It is the honor of my life to fight alongside this president, this governor, all of you.
00:07:55.620 Let's go shock the world again.
00:07:57.960 Let's go get them.
00:08:01.600 The House Judiciary Committee recently held a hearing on diversity in the media.
00:08:07.840 Jim Jordan gave a phenomenal opening statement critiquing this cancel culture, secular religion that the left has embraced.
00:08:16.700 Take a listen to Jim Jordan.
00:08:17.820 This hearing proves no one, no one is safe from the cancel culture.
00:08:23.660 No one is safe from the mob.
00:08:26.440 They will come after you.
00:08:28.460 Look no further than Barry Weiss, former editor at the New York Times.
00:08:33.020 Had to resign.
00:08:34.480 Had to resign because she was engaged, as she said in her piece, when she resigned, wrong think.
00:08:40.520 Barry Weiss said this.
00:08:41.420 She said this in that resignation letter.
00:08:43.020 You say something the mob doesn't like, get ready for, quote, the digital thunderdome.
00:08:50.300 I couldn't, I don't know, anyone could say it better than that.
00:08:52.180 That's what happens.
00:08:52.860 You disagree with the mob.
00:08:53.960 They come after you.
00:08:55.880 They'll come after you.
00:08:57.240 And their goal is, their goal is silence.
00:09:01.520 Recent surveys, 62% of Americans say they're afraid to freely express themselves.
00:09:07.640 This is a judiciary committee.
00:09:10.240 We should remember this.
00:09:11.100 You don't have a First Amendment when people are afraid to speak.
00:09:15.660 You don't have free speech when only one side's allowed to talk.
00:09:18.860 Nancy Pelosi may no longer be considering the impeachment of the president, saying that it's
00:09:27.840 not worth her time.
00:09:28.840 He's not worth it.
00:09:30.000 Well, it's interesting who she chose to identify and who she chose to not identify.
00:09:36.900 The speaker's words here matter.
00:09:38.760 The attorney general is the person that House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler and other radical
00:09:43.800 Democrats have talked about impeaching to create a procedural jam on the president.
00:09:47.720 So I think it's interesting.
00:09:48.960 She rules out impeaching the president.
00:09:50.860 She doesn't rule out impeaching Bill Barr.
00:09:53.440 I think she would go to any lengths to stop the president from seating the Supreme Court
00:09:58.160 justice.
00:09:58.840 But I don't think she can.
00:10:00.520 Here was my discussion with Sean Hannity about that subject last night.
00:10:03.680 The American people know that for Nancy Pelosi, this isn't about justice.
00:10:08.160 It's about power.
00:10:09.140 And we all know that if she could, Nancy Pelosi would be willing to skinny dip across the Potomac
00:10:14.920 River if she thought she could block President Trump's nominee to the court.
00:10:18.460 But she can't.
00:10:19.640 We have the power and we should use that power to ensure that we allow a court to interpret
00:10:26.240 our First Amendment rights correctly, our Second Amendment rights correctly.
00:10:29.220 See, Hillary Clinton knows that you can't get people to just vote for Joe Biden or stand
00:10:34.200 in the way of this nomination.
00:10:35.220 So she's trying to change the subject and make it only about Obamacare, a Supreme Court
00:10:40.540 that is reshaped, is about so much more.
00:10:42.900 This is going to be one of the enduring legacies of the Trump administration.
00:10:46.700 And I think if Democrats continue with this slash and burn approach, the voters will reject
00:10:52.680 them.
00:10:53.000 It will backfire just like it did with Judge Kavanaugh.
00:10:59.220 I want to update the Michael Bloomberg story.
00:11:02.200 I made a bit of news this week by calling for a criminal investigation of Michael Bloomberg
00:11:08.360 because they are out there essentially engaged in vote buying and they've admitted to it.
00:11:14.600 I covered on the prior podcast, so I'm not going to rehash the whole fact pattern.
00:11:18.560 But essentially, you have Bloomberg operatives writing memos saying, donate money to us so
00:11:23.200 we can go pay off the back fines of former felons.
00:11:27.660 And once we do that, they'll be able to vote.
00:11:30.440 And it won't be all felons.
00:11:31.940 It won't be white felons.
00:11:33.580 It'll be black and Hispanic felons with a particular voting propensity, a particular
00:11:39.420 voter registration status.
00:11:42.180 And the law in Florida is clear on this.
00:11:45.100 So I sent a message to the Florida Attorney General to investigate.
00:11:48.740 She has now drafted a letter that's Ashley Moody, the Florida Attorney General, directing
00:11:53.940 the Office of Statewide Prosecution in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to start
00:11:58.480 an investigation.
00:11:59.900 Here's the coverage.
00:12:00.840 Billionaire Mike Bloomberg is raising millions of dollars to help Florida felons pay their
00:12:04.880 debts and register to vote in November.
00:12:06.920 This Thursday morning, one state lawmaker is calling for an investigation concerning all
00:12:10.800 of that.
00:12:11.620 Our very own investigator, My Society, is looking into those allegations, I should say, that
00:12:16.040 Bloomberg could be breaking the law.
00:12:17.800 As the polls tighten in Florida, former Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg working
00:12:23.860 to shape the landscape.
00:12:25.680 The New York billionaire helped raise more than $20 million for felons to pay their court
00:12:30.680 fees and vote in November.
00:12:32.520 I will be calling on the Florida Attorney General to launch an investigation.
00:12:37.080 On Fox News, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz claimed this was potentially bribery.
00:12:42.680 It's not every felon.
00:12:44.560 It's just those which they have specifically identified as the Biden voters.
00:12:49.800 Less than 24 hours later, AG Ashley Moody tells 8 On Your Side there's now an investigation
00:12:55.300 to see if Bloomberg broke election laws.
00:12:58.840 In this letter to the FBI, Moody references a law which makes it illegal to, quote,
00:13:02.960 directly or indirectly give or promise anything of value to another and casting his or her
00:13:08.680 vote.
00:13:09.020 We wish Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody luck.
00:13:11.760 I think there are real questions about the criminal activity of the Bloomberg affiliates
00:13:17.720 and associates, and it may even be a RICO action.
00:13:20.760 It may even be a situation where you've got organized criminal activity with predicate criminal
00:13:26.120 acts that are linked together for a common vision or purpose that would, at least at the
00:13:31.640 elemental level, set up a potential RICO criminal prosecution of Bloomberg and his associates.
00:13:41.400 Killed and burned.
00:13:43.560 That's what happened to a South Korean official, according to BBC.
00:13:48.840 Kim Jong-un has apologized for killing this South Korean official.
00:13:53.240 The North Korean leader has issued an apology for the fatal shooting of the 47-year-old man
00:13:58.560 who was allegedly attempting to defect to North Korea, but was shot dead by the nation's troops
00:14:05.660 when he was discovered in their waters.
00:14:07.720 His body was burned in line with the anti-coronavirus regulations.
00:14:13.360 Kim Jong-un saying that he feels very sorry for the unfortunate incident.
00:14:19.100 Defecting to North Korea?
00:14:22.080 Something's fishy about that.
00:14:23.580 Very strange, very violent, very dangerous part of the world still.
00:14:28.800 I remember conversations with President Trump where he talked about the failures of the Obama
00:14:34.620 administration, the warnings that Obama personally gave Trump about how dire the situation was
00:14:39.860 in North Korea.
00:14:40.760 It appears we're back from the brink.
00:14:42.620 But moments like this just demonstrate the savagery of the North Korean regime.
00:14:48.940 And I think the need for a new chapter for this part of the world,
00:14:54.020 one that ushers in greater peace and prosperity,
00:14:56.760 and that does not embrace the hermit kingdom approach to control and power
00:15:03.120 and dominance over a people who I think would yearn to be just as free as the rest of us.
00:15:09.060 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have somewhat self-actualized their liberation from the
00:15:18.000 royal family, making a few folks in the House of Windsor not too happy about some of their
00:15:23.300 life choices.
00:15:24.560 They're out making their money, making their movies and documentaries,
00:15:28.780 and apparently making a bit of a splash in politics, encouraging folks to vote for Joe Biden.
00:15:34.240 The president was asked about that. I thought his hot take was fantastic.
00:15:39.360 Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chimed in on the U.S. election and essentially encouraged people
00:15:44.000 to vote for Joe Biden. I'm going to get your reaction to that.
00:15:48.280 I'm not a fan of hers. And I would say this, and she probably has heard that,
00:15:57.040 but I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he's going to need it.
00:16:03.560 The president knows a thing or two about a tough marital situation.
00:16:07.960 We'll see if Prince Harry takes his advice.
00:16:13.700 Louisville is descending into riots and madness and chaos. Take a listen.
00:16:19.180 The very latest on the ground is Matt Finn.
00:16:23.280 Matt, we have Metro Police apparently confirming that another officer was shot tonight.
00:16:28.820 Yeah, and Sean, we have a crew on the way to that shooting scene right now,
00:16:32.760 and we will bring you the latest from that scene.
00:16:34.840 I just want to show you what's happening here, really in the heart of downtown Louisville.
00:16:38.200 Police or people tried setting this facility on fire earlier tonight,
00:16:42.680 and police came rushing out of there, and protesters threw objects at police.
00:16:47.460 They declared this an unlawful assembly.
00:16:49.560 There are remnants of fires all around this area.
00:16:52.540 In fact, there's still a smaller fire still burning in this area.
00:16:55.100 But right now, we are past that curfew time.
00:16:57.740 So police are out here, you know, warning people that this is an unlawful assembly.
00:17:02.980 They told people over and over again to clear this area.
00:17:05.980 And there's still some people hanging out, you know, screaming profanities at police,
00:17:09.680 trying to agitate them.
00:17:10.900 But for now, this is a much calmer scene than just even a few hours ago
00:17:14.300 when there was hundreds and hundreds of people out here.
00:17:17.020 And police declared this an unlawful assembly,
00:17:19.480 and they warned people that they would be arrested.
00:17:22.040 And just a short distance from here,
00:17:23.540 our understanding is that two police officers were shot here tonight in Louisville.
00:17:27.200 We don't have any word on their condition,
00:17:28.840 but we will bring that to you as soon as we get it, Sean.
00:17:30.700 Charles Barkley, the famed basketball player and commentator,
00:17:35.840 had some hot takes of his own on this subject.
00:17:38.520 Take a listen.
00:17:39.100 It's bad the young lady lost her life.
00:17:41.100 But, you know, we do have to take into account that her boyfriend did shoot at the cops and shot a cop.
00:17:49.680 So, like I say, even though I'm really sorry she lost her life,
00:17:53.420 I don't think that we can just say we can put this in the same situation with George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery.
00:17:59.620 I just don't believe that.
00:18:01.120 Charles Barkley, the round mound of rebound, as they used to call him during his playing days,
00:18:05.980 coming in hot on those facts.
00:18:08.160 And while, of course, our justice system has to evaluate cases independently and on the facts,
00:18:15.300 I don't believe that Charles Barkley's defense of the police in this case
00:18:20.040 or critique of the people that Breonna Taylor was associating with is a defense of no-knock warrants.
00:18:26.580 I agree with Rand Paul.
00:18:28.120 We should not have no-knock warrants.
00:18:30.780 It's one of the most intrusive things a government can do to come in your home.
00:18:34.800 It's literally why we wrote some of the provisions of the Bill of Rights to stop people from being able to enter your home
00:18:41.620 without just cause, without probable cause, without due process.
00:18:46.600 It's why we don't let the government force you to house people in your homes and quarter them.
00:18:51.900 And so I think that this notion that the home is a place of some sanctity,
00:18:58.160 at least from a constitutional rights standpoint, is one that ought to be vindicated.
00:19:02.980 And it seems to me that in a lot of these cases, if you didn't have no-knock warrants,
00:19:08.080 you would be able to de-escalate.
00:19:10.420 You would diminish the risk that exists for bystanders and for those who are not the subject of the warrant
00:19:18.980 or engaged in any criminal activity.
00:19:20.860 And so I hope that we could move past no-knock warrants.
00:19:24.520 I don't think they should be used with the frequency they are.
00:19:27.480 But Charles Barkley, laying down some truth on ESPN.
00:19:31.480 Hope he doesn't get canceled.
00:19:34.560 Thanks for listening to Hot Takes.
00:19:36.500 I'm Congressman Matt Gaetz.
00:19:38.100 And my new book, Firebrand, just released this week, continues to make news,
00:19:43.520 continues to identify things that we need to continue to do as a conservative movement
00:19:48.740 from a policy standpoint.
00:19:50.800 I hope you love my chapter on big tech, on China,
00:19:54.880 on the need to have a more realistic and focused foreign policy.
