00:01:04.040 Okay, they were looking at us.
00:01:05.340 This is the 77 WABC
00:01:08.380 Minicast.
00:01:10.820 Just some
00:01:11.720 crazy doings
00:01:13.340 around the world.
00:01:15.660 Per usual these days. Per usual.
00:01:19.080 Get up
00:01:19.780 and, you know, the first thing everyone does
00:01:21.820 now, you check social media.
00:01:23.840 You check X, really.
00:01:25.680 Twitter to the people that want to remember what it was.
00:01:31.460 Yeah, and that's what you see.
00:01:34.140 Within three scrolls of your thumb, three little pushes up on your phone,
00:01:40.580 you know, everything you need to know that's going on in the world.
00:01:45.760 And this Australia terror event, that's what it is, terrorism, Bondi Beach, Bondi Beach, hi, in Sydney, Australia, just terrible, just terrible.
00:02:06.100 Hanukkah celebration, first day of Hanukkah.
00:02:09.860 And two terrorists. 0.99
00:02:15.440 They have, obviously, they are Islamic. 1.00
00:02:22.280 That's what I'm saying.
00:02:23.920 I'm going on record right now.
00:02:25.980 I don't wait for confirmation.
00:02:30.580 Because, you know, you just know.
00:02:34.140 You just know certain things.
00:02:37.360 I took a look and was like, yep, that's what it is.
00:02:43.040 A father and son team this time.
00:02:46.700 A father and son, they went to an area, Bondi Beach, where they had a big Hanukkah celebration set up
00:02:55.600 and just started opening fire on people.
00:03:00.260 And it looked brutal.
00:03:03.360 The first clip I saw was the 11-minute long clip, and this was after they had already started shooting.
00:03:12.940 Reports are they had been shooting for a half an hour before there was any real response, just with impunity.
00:03:24.240 They took up a position on a footbridge and just started firing.
00:03:32.360 They had the walls of the bridge for some type of cover, and they were a bit elevated,
00:03:39.960 and they were able to look over exactly where they wanted to do their shooting.
00:03:46.800 So, I mean, obviously this was a planned event.
00:03:53.180 They obviously had planned this out.
00:03:57.040 The father owned the weapons.
00:04:00.620 They had a, looked like a 12-gauge shotgun, some shotgun shells laying on that bridge.
00:04:09.600 And from the sound and look, it looked like the father was the one shooting the shotgun.
00:04:17.360 And the son, it looked like he had a Beretta BRX1.
00:04:21.840 This is a bolt-action hunting rifle.
00:04:26.040 but the difference from your traditional you know you watch old war movies you see the bolt action
00:04:32.600 you gotta lift the bolt up pull it back slide it back forward and then push the bolt back down
00:04:39.900 to lock it in place uh this beretta is a pullback bolt action which means you don't have to go
00:04:49.580 through those extra steps of pulling the bolt up and then putting it back down all you do is pull
00:04:55.460 it straight back and push it straight forward and our new round is chambered and from the looks
00:05:01.820 of the video there this guy had this down again it didn't look like they just were hanging around 0.94
00:05:10.280 uh eating some halal and decided to uh you know hey why don't we go out and shoot up a hanukkah
00:05:19.660 festival this was definitely planned they had practiced like i said this guy was pretty 0.65
00:05:28.480 proficient at chambering rounds very quickly acquiring targets through he had some kind of
00:05:38.600 a small optic on there maybe a red dot and and take his shots and it was just you know frightening
00:05:48.120 to watch man and so many people got uh had recorded this on their on their phones
00:05:57.040 from different angles and you saw people um you saw people commenting and gasping and uh
00:06:08.020 But not doing anything.
00:06:13.180 A lot of people shooting video, but not shooting the proverbial bad guys.
00:06:21.040 And, you know, this is where we get into the gun thing.
00:06:27.320 Australia, of course, it's very, very difficult to own a gun in Australia.
00:06:36.500 You really need to jump through a lot of hoops, man.
00:06:41.560 You think it's tough here in the United States where we actually have a right,
00:06:45.840 a constitutional right to bear arms.
00:06:49.520 It is not a right in Australia, and they make it very difficult.
00:06:55.320 They require a reason that you want to have a gun.
00:06:59.980 Now, hunting is a reason, but they actually want the reason you'll be hunting, whether it's pest control on your farm or something.
00:07:12.400 So very, very difficult to get a gun in Australia.
00:07:20.680 And this guy had four.
00:07:22.720 He had four weapons that were registered to him.
00:07:26.040 He had gone through all of the rigmarole that you need to go through to get a gun in Australia, which, again, just kind of reinforces the whole if bad people want to do bad things with guns, they will get guns.
00:07:43.340 and no amount of laws you could put on the law abiding public is going to stop people that want
00:07:52.620 to do other people harm and want to kill them and use guns to do that with when you travel well
