00:00:00.000 On the biggest stage in the world, FanDuel is changing the game

00:00:04.120 because sometimes your player gets subbed off and your bet goes with them.

00:00:07.520 Not anymore.

00:00:08.480 With FanDuel's Super Sub, if your player's subbed out, your bet stays in.

00:00:12.820 That's right.

00:00:13.380 If your player leaves the match, your bet continues on with the substitute,

00:00:17.560 so you're still in it until the final whistle.

00:00:55.960 Get started now. Let there be goals

00:00:58.040 this summer on FanDuel.

00:01:00.100 Listen, all you New Yorkers.

00:01:02.580 You pay taxi.

00:01:04.020 Okay, then you want to look around.

00:01:05.320 This is the 77 WABC

00:01:08.360 minicast.

00:01:11.080 How you doing?

00:01:12.620 How is everyone doing?

00:01:13.860 Especially my friends and family

00:01:15.860 up there in New York.

00:01:18.560 It

00:01:18.860 doesn't look good, huh?

00:01:22.100 This thing's really happening.

00:01:23.840 because we've been jaded over the course of the years,

00:01:26.900 very jaded as far as the weather forecasts go.

00:01:31.440 Is it really a snowstorm?

00:01:33.080 And then they usually, what they like doing,

00:01:35.300 they realize that the previous snowstorm got them a lot of heat,

00:01:39.760 a lot of ratings.

00:01:41.200 People were paying attention to news agencies and weather services.

00:01:45.180 So they like trying to get you to think another snowstorm's coming.

00:01:51.540 this this weekend is it possible they ask questions like that they don't tell you

00:01:57.220 that there's there's actually a snowstorm could we be looking at up to three feet of snow

00:02:03.180 and uh no the answer is no but uh this one uh seems legit this one seems like uh it's going down

00:02:13.440 and uh two feet is that what they're talking will will they there's still something that

00:02:21.400 it happen though the weatherman later on could be like well we dodged that bullet we certainly

00:02:27.520 dodged that bullet boy we were looking down the barrel of a shotgun here and at the last minute

00:02:34.500 it turned off to sea uh meanwhile they knew they knew days before that that's exactly where it was

00:02:43.240 going to go you can't tell me that in 2026 weather forecasting is still so vague and arbitrary and

00:02:53.320 you know they don't know exactly what's going to happen especially within a day or two of it

00:03:00.880 happening but they know you know the people that tell you the weather and the companies that those

00:03:07.160 people work for know that it's um in their best interest to make the people think that it's going

00:03:14.500 to be this big cataclysm and i don't get that either that's part of that's part of human

00:03:21.200 psychiatry or psychology i think psychiatry psychology we uh we look forward to things

00:03:30.040 that aren't good uh not everything that's not good i mean i don't think people are looking

00:03:36.380 forward to terminal diseases and things like that unless you're really twisted but uh snow

00:03:42.260 storms hurricanes you know people love yapping about it texting or calling their friends did

00:03:49.940 you hear it looks bad could be a category five when it makes landfall it's supposed to come

00:03:56.160 right toward me oh we're batting down the hatches we got all our supplies it's like this excitement 0.85

00:04:02.920 that people crave and i don't think it's just a few nutty people i think human beings for some

00:04:12.620 reason enjoy that enjoy some kind of uh danger in their usually mundane lives and uh a snowstorm

00:04:23.980 you know it's not like uh the 1800s like the donner party or something you know you'll be okay

00:04:33.020 Maybe schools will be closed, like Zoram and Danny said.

00:04:35.800 The schools will be closed on Monday, tomorrow.

00:04:39.260 And people keep an eye on the weather.

00:04:43.100 And what's the snowfall?

00:04:46.180 What's it going to be?

00:04:47.440 How many inches?

00:04:49.500 And if it goes up, they're like, oh, boy, this is going to be a big one.

00:04:52.720 And they love it.

00:04:55.100 They love it.

00:04:56.260 Now, after it happens is when the real bitching and complaining starts, and especially in your new mayor, Zoran Mamdani's New York City, where we saw his first test of keeping things up and running during a weather emergency, the previous snowstorm, that he failed miserably.

00:05:24.400 he failed miserably even though i did see some instagram and tiktok videos of people

00:05:30.100 giving him a 10 out of 10 for his snow performance 10 out of 10 i don't think people know what that

00:05:38.200 means i don't think they understand 10 is the best there's not another number that could possibly

00:05:44.200 be better so uh yeah it's it's a a strange situation i'm the same way though i like when

00:05:53.260 When there's some cataclysmic weather event or something, you're like, oh, it gives you this weird survival thing where you harken back to a more primal time.

00:06:11.460 And you know that you have to change it up.

00:06:15.020 It's different than every day.

00:06:17.180 It's a different thing than your normal get up, go to work, come home day.

00:06:21.620 there's some element of danger in this day and you're like

00:06:25.420 and you're like a caveman and uh you know that part of you gets to shine or fail miserably

00:06:36.880 you know if you're a guy and you got your family and they're freezing cold and starving and the

00:06:43.900 part of the roof is caved in you didn't do it you didn't do your job very well and i hope that

00:06:49.580 isn't you i got a tree on my house you don't want to be that guy so uh yeah uh obviously

00:06:57.760 we get a lot of callers from new york um 800-848-9222 you want to give us a call and

00:07:05.200 let us know what you're going through throughout the show tonight if you have any uh snowfall

00:07:11.820 updates i could be a real radio jock with this whole thing hey let's check in with

00:07:19.300 brooklyn new york what's it looking like out there paint a picture for our listeners

00:07:25.640 so uh who knows but uh yeah zoran um he he got a bunch of or he wants a bunch of people to help

00:07:35.300 them shovel help them shovel out you got all those uh sanitation department vehicles snow plows the

00:07:42.420 garbage trucks they put the plow on the front and shovelers all the sanitation department workers

00:07:47.880 with their shovels 30 million dollars of uh snow removal budget that's for the entire winter you

00:07:56.280 know so he's had one snowstorm this winter so i'm sure he hasn't run out of funding

00:08:04.400 right i don't think so so uh why why why do they need citizens to shovel why don't they have the

00:08:17.360 And it just seems to me like a perfect opportunity for someone to sign up for this, hurt themselves and sue the city and having to have the taxpayers pay the rest of their lives, pay for everything in the rest of their lives.

00:08:34.700 Doesn't it seem that way?

00:08:36.840 And I don't care what you have to sign in order to do this after, of course, you know, you show your I.D.

00:08:43.320 that you don't have to show to vote, but you show that ID,

00:08:48.340 you fill out your forms, and then you go out and go,

00:08:51.540 oh, there goes my back.

00:08:53.500 I need to go to the hospital.

00:08:55.580 And they take you to the hospital, and then you go, yeah, I don't know.

00:09:00.960 I hurt myself.

00:09:02.760 They didn't tell me that this job was going to be this strenuous.

00:09:07.860 And before you know it, lo and behold, you got a couple of million dollars.

00:09:13.320 courtesy the people of the city of new york paying your way and then you know i don't know

00:09:21.220 it doesn't this this doesn't seem like um world war ii united states world war ii new york city

00:09:28.260 uncle sam needs your help get your nylon stockings and aluminum pots and pans bring them down for

00:09:37.340 the war effort like people are motivated proud they wanted to help now i just picture a bunch

00:09:46.100 of people leaning on the shovel leaning on their shovel smoking their cools and going uh yep there's

00:09:53.480 25 30 bucks another hour yep there's another 30 bucks what's the motivation honestly what's the

00:10:03.560 motivation i want to do a good job i'm proud of the motivation is going to be the money

00:10:10.540 and unless there's someone cracking a whip uh you know a supervisor or something

00:10:18.920 that's around all of these shovelers all the time i think a lot of people are going to

00:10:25.380 slack off as they say you're a slacker mcfly and uh not do the best job

00:10:31.380 you know what was the saying in office space the movie they'll do just enough to not get fired

00:10:38.740 no motivation and you do the minimum just enough work to not get fired and i could see that

00:10:49.180 happening it seems like a big waste of money now if you're a sanitation department worker

00:10:54.840 and you have a pension plan and you have supervisors

00:10:59.660 and opportunity for promotion, things like that,

00:11:04.620 there's your motivation.

00:11:06.340 If a supervisor or something sees you leaning on a shovel,

00:11:09.920 you're not going to be the guy in line for the promotion or the raise

00:11:13.080 or what have you.

00:11:15.220 So there's some motivation.

00:11:17.280 So hire sanitation guys, New York.

00:11:20.360 use some of that 30 mil and uh hire some people that want to work that want to do well want to

00:11:27.680 have a future for themselves my god i don't know it just to me uh seems like uh a real mam danny

00:11:37.120 thing to do and then i heard that this is something that has been used under other mayors

00:11:42.400 during um snowstorms in new york i'd never heard of it this is the first i'm hearing of these

00:11:48.700 Civilian-hired snow shovel brigades.
