00:00:26.200 your support. And now on to the show. Brett McKay here and welcome to another edition of the Art of
00:00:48.260 Manliness podcast. Well, I am really excited about today's guest. He is the founder and owner of one
00:00:53.760 of my favorite blogs, Steve Kam of nerdfitness.com. If you haven't been to Nerd Fitness, I recommend
00:01:01.180 to go check it out. Steve does such a great job of taking fitness and health and making it approachable
00:01:06.640 for the average guy or someone who has no experience whatsoever with fitness or nutrition or anything
00:01:12.840 like that. And in today's show, we're going to talk a little bit about the story behind Nerd Fitness
00:01:17.260 and how you can level up your life. Well, Steve, welcome to the show. We appreciate you taking the
00:01:24.100 time to talk to us. Absolutely, bro. Thanks so much for having me, man. Yeah. So Steve, can you tell
00:01:29.260 us a little bit about Nerd Fitness, why you started it, what was the inspiration behind it, and why do
00:01:33.380 you do what you do? Absolutely. Honestly, I started Nerd Fitness because of the tremendous numbers of
00:01:40.640 failures that I had had in my past trying to get healthy. I remember it was my junior year of high
00:01:48.400 school. I tried it for my high school basketball team. I got cut. Not surprisingly, I was terrible. I
00:01:52.580 couldn't dribble with my left hand. And I was like five foot, 10, 100 pounds. So clearly had no business
00:01:58.360 being on a basketball court. However, I got cut and I decided I wanted to start getting healthier and
00:02:03.440 strength training and, and, and kind of, you know, re kind of build myself up. So I went to a gym and
00:02:11.180 managed to almost kill myself by drop. I loaded up like 45 pound plates on either side of a bench
00:02:17.060 press and managed to drop it directly onto my chest and had to like roll to the left and the right until
00:02:22.720 the weight spun off and everybody in the gym stared at me. Just one of those, one of like those horrifying
00:02:27.420 moments that I will never, ever, ever forget in my life. So that was the first day I think I ever
00:02:32.240 really tried to work out. Um, and I learned that there's a lot more to it than just walking into
00:02:36.720 a gym and trying to wing it. So I spent the next six years of my life trying to get healthy and
00:02:42.120 trying to do it in a way that I thought was right. Like I read muscle and fitness and all of those,
00:02:46.880 you know, muscle magazines, because I, that's what I thought you were supposed to do. And not
00:02:51.140 surprisingly, after six years, I had very little success and had still no clue what I was doing.
00:02:56.280 It wasn't until after six years, I finally worked at the trainer, cleaned up my diet,
00:03:00.840 uh, really simplified the heck out of my workout and had more success in 30 days than I had in the
00:03:06.380 entire six years prior. And that's when a light bulb went off in my head. I was like, geez,
00:03:10.000 if it took me six years of failing miserably to finally figure out that there's a, there's a,
00:03:15.160 like an actual science to this eating right and working out, there have to be other people out
00:03:19.860 there like myself who don't have six years to, to waste on failing at all these things.
00:03:25.200 So those are the people I wanted to help people that were brand new to fitness and interested in
00:03:28.460 getting healthy, but didn't know where to begin. Uh, obviously there are already a billion fitness
00:03:32.500 blogs out there. So I wanted to create my own little niche and, and speak specifically to a
00:03:38.880 group of people that I felt like I was a really strong part of that community, that niche being
00:03:43.380 the nerd community. I built my own computers. I love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings. Uh, I'm a,
00:03:48.220 I'm a huge gamer. And I thought that was my opportunity to create something unique and speak
00:03:53.160 to this group of people. So I Googled nerd fitness, nothing popped up. So I bought nerd
00:03:58.280 fitness.com about five years ago. Uh, and I've been running it ever since it started as a simple
00:04:03.480 blog and now it's, uh, evolved into a giant community of nerds all over the globe that are
00:04:08.900 working together to help each other get healthy. Awesome. So would you say your typical reader is
00:04:13.560 a nerd? I mean like what people, most people would call a nerd or is it just, you have readers
00:04:18.160 from all walks of life? It's, I think that there's a, the strong core is definitely, definitely
00:04:23.820 nerdy. And I think nerd can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. You know,
00:04:27.700 you can be a bookworm, you can be a political science nerd. You can be a video game nerd.
00:04:31.940 You can be a computer programming or computer engineer nerd. Um, I think generally it tends
00:04:37.240 to be the type of people that, uh, spend most of their day at a, at a computer sitting in
00:04:41.640 front of a desk. They're probably anywhere between 25 and 35. Maybe they just had their
00:04:46.080 first kid. Um, or they're interested in, you know, they're interested essentially in
00:04:52.260 improving their lives for some reason, whether it's because of a kid or they're trying to
00:04:56.300 improve their lives for any other reason and they don't know where to get started. So it
00:04:59.900 is the 25 to 35 year old, uh, either male or female, um, that is interested in getting
00:05:05.460 healthy and don't know where to turn. So they Google something like body weight exercises
00:05:09.580 or how to look like Captain America or how to look like, you know, something, something
00:05:12.920 that speaks to them. And often than not, nerd fitness tends to be the thing that pops up
00:05:17.160 because who else is going to combine Lord of the Rings and pushups?
00:05:19.520 Yeah, totally. And that's one of the things I love about your site, um, is that it's so
00:05:24.520 approachable. Um, I'm amazed by, I've told you this before in our emails that I'll people
00:05:30.380 come up to me, uh, here in Tulsa and say, Hey, have you checked out nerd fitness? And they're
00:05:35.620 a nerdy kind of guy. And they're like, yeah, I've never exercised before, but this guy's
00:05:39.320 really got me going on it. Um, that's what I think, I think a niche you definitely fill
00:05:44.700 because you go to most fitness blogs and you read them. And if you've never done any
00:05:48.660 type of exercise before, uh, you could be sort of intimidated by the content that's put
00:05:54.740 out there. Cause you see like these like chiseled guys and, uh, like the stuff they're talking
00:05:59.720 about could be really intimidating. So it might put off a lot of people who otherwise would
00:06:04.180 need that sort of information. Um, absolutely. And that's not only that, but I think a huge
00:06:11.320 portion of fitness blogs are really, you know, they use such predatory marketing tactics that
00:06:16.940 it just drives me crazy. Like you need to buy this particular workout or buy this particular
00:06:22.060 piece of equipment or this supplement, or you're not going to get healthy, you know? And like
00:06:25.680 they really prey on people's insecurities and that just drove me crazy. So I wanted to create
00:06:29.900 a place where people knew if they came to the site, like you don't need to buy anything.
00:06:34.280 You can work out in the comfort of your own home and you don't need to buy any supplements.
00:06:38.500 You can do it with normal foods. You just need to start identifying certain things that you need
00:06:42.660 to change. And, you know, I'm giving you these opinions, not because a company is paying me to
00:06:48.400 say them or because I get a cut of this particular supplement, which is why I'm promoting it. Instead,
00:06:53.000 it's like, look, my goal with this is to get you healthy. And I want to do it in a way that
00:06:56.580 you're not intimidated and that you feel like you are not getting taken advantage of. It's more like,
00:07:01.900 yeah, this makes sense to me. And this guy is telling me things that make sense. And he seems
00:07:06.480 like a guy that I could relate to and a guy that I can trust. And when he, you know, if this is a
00:07:11.660 workout that he recommends and here it is for free, like, okay, that's something I can give a, you know,
00:07:15.660 I can try out. And then they'll quickly learn like, oh, I can do it. It's not that difficult.
00:07:19.880 Once you kind of simplify and take away all the scary stuff.
00:07:22.100 Yeah. So, okay. So, um, being approachable, kind of targeting the beginner, I mean, what are some
00:07:27.980 other guiding principles of the, the nerd fitness philosophy? I mean, what makes you, what else makes
00:07:32.780 you different from some of the other fitness blogs you might see out there? Um, you know,
00:07:37.920 this one is tough because it's, you know, it's not, it's not sexy to sell clean eating and, and,
00:07:44.780 and proper diet. You know, it's like, oh, you need this workout because it has muscle confusion or this
00:07:48.700 one targets this, whatever area of your body. It's like, no, it's not it guys. Like focus on
00:07:54.920 building proper habits and understanding that your diet is going to be 80% of your success or
00:08:00.280 failure. And most people don't want to hear that. They want to hear that they can do this one workout
00:08:03.880 for 20 minutes a week and then go back to drinking, uh, you know, drinking Gatorades and, and eating
00:08:09.440 bagfuls of chips and, and still get that ripped six pack abs, you know, it doesn't work that way.
00:08:14.480 It's like, no guys, put your focus on eating better, put your focus on making some small
00:08:19.500 changes here and there, and then find exercise that makes you happy. And I think that's a big
00:08:24.580 one. A lot of people, when they think exercise, they think running on a treadmill for four hours
00:08:27.860 or going to an aerobics class with a bunch of people in spandex that they don't belong in. And
00:08:32.560 you know, that they immediately get turned off by all of these things. So I want to let people know
00:08:37.160 that, you know, if you are, if you can, if you can make some changes to your diet, and again,
00:08:41.460 diet is going to be 80%. The other 20% comes from things that make you happy. For me personally,
00:08:46.000 I'm not a huge fan of running, so I don't do it. You know, and everybody asked me like,
00:08:49.220 Oh, when are you going to run a marathon? I'm like, probably never. Like it's not my thing.
00:08:53.480 I love strength training. I love things like gymnastics and parkour. I like exercises that
00:08:58.260 to me don't really feel like I'm exercising. So I encourage people to find things that make
00:09:02.920 them happy, that get them off their butts out the door. You know, there are, you know,
00:09:07.080 whether it's like ultimate Frisbee or yoga, martial arts, live action role playing where
00:09:12.500 people like dress up in like this, you know, coat of arms and, and, and chase down each
00:09:16.840 other across the movie. Was it role models? That stuff actually happens. And that's awesome.
00:09:21.260 I've never done it, but I would love to. But really, it's finding things that make you happy
00:09:24.700 and putting a strong emphasis on making healthier food choices. And the way I look at that is it's
00:09:31.700 more like, you know, do the best you can during the week. So I try to take care of myself
00:09:35.780 five days a week with, you know, really clean, proper eating. And then on the weekends,
00:09:39.400 I have no problem going to a bar and having a couple of beers and eating wings and pizza,
00:09:42.840 watching football. And then I get right back on track come Monday. So yeah, that's a good,
00:09:46.840 it's a good philosophy to have. Cause I think a lot of people think, Oh, if I want to get in shape,
00:09:50.120 I got to do this 24 seven. Uh, I can't, I can't enjoy life anymore.
00:09:55.940 Yeah. That's, that's crap. Definitely mix, mix the two for sure. Totally. And another thing I love,
00:10:01.540 you talk about a lot on the site and it's something that resonates with me.
00:10:05.820 And I think it's maybe one of your guiding principles. Maybe I'm wrong.
00:10:08.940 That whole idea of it's not where you are, it's where you're going. I love that. I mean,
00:10:14.260 can you talk a little bit about that? What do you mean?
00:10:16.320 Absolutely. So actually on the site, we have the 11 rules of the rebellion and the community at
00:10:21.820 nerd fitness, we call ourselves the rebellion. Um, and you know, heavily, heavily influenced by
00:10:27.180 star Wars and we have 11 rules. And the number one rule is we don't care where you came from.
00:10:32.000 We only care where you're going. And we have breeders from all walks of life on nerd
00:10:36.760 fitness. I mean, I'm currently talking to a gentleman that's, uh, he found nerd fitness
00:10:40.620 at 670 pounds. I think already down to, he's closing in on 570, I think. So he's already
00:10:47.540 down about a hundred pounds. That's awesome. Right direction. We also like, I also get emails
00:10:51.720 from guys that are like training for the Olympics that happened to also love nerd fitness.
00:10:55.180 So, I mean, two completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Some people that are trying
00:10:59.260 to get bigger, some people that are trying to lose a drastic amount of weight, some people
00:11:02.960 that want to run marathons, some people that want to become a powerlifting champion. It
00:11:07.080 doesn't matter where you're starting. It really matters. Like, can you be a better person today
00:11:10.880 than you were yesterday? If you're trying to get stronger, can you be a little bit stronger
00:11:14.120 today? If you're going to try to get faster, can you run that mile one second faster than
00:11:18.100 you did the last time you went running? So it's really looking at yourself and judging
00:11:21.620 yourself based on who you are and where you're going and what you want to do instead of comparing
00:11:26.700 yourself to other people or ideals that you see on, you know, in, in magazines or whatever.
00:11:31.300 Yeah. We're going to take a quick break for a word from our sponsors. Huckberry is my favorite
00:11:34.040 place to shop online because they have everything a guy needs or wants for everything from clothing,
00:11:38.520 stuff for your everyday carry, like pocket knives, even little totems, little things you can carry
00:11:41.780 around, camping equipment, things to furnish your home with. Pretty much all the clothes I own
00:11:45.220 are from Huckberry. They own a brand called Flint and Tinder. They make everything from underwear,
00:11:48.960 jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, they got a wax trucker jacket, you name it, they've got it. I love it
00:11:53.340 because it just, it's classic down to earth, rugged, and it's all made in the USA. Everyday
00:11:57.980 carry pocket knives. My favorite pocket knife is from Huckberry. It's this one from a company
00:12:01.880 based out of New Mexico. They have a dinosaur bone put into the handle. It's pretty cool. And
00:12:05.680 the blade's really nice. So if you want to see some of the things I've gotten from Huckberry over
00:12:08.960 the years, go to aom.is slash aomhuck. See some of my favorite things. And if it's your first time
00:12:14.840 purchasing, use code ART15 at checkout to save 15% on your first purchase. So again, check out
00:12:20.800 aom.is slash aomhuck. That's A-O-M-H-U-C-K. And if it's your first time purchasing, use code ART15
00:12:27.380 at checkout to save 15% off on your first purchase. And now back to the show.
00:12:32.460 So one of the things I love about Nerd Fitness, and you're a fantastic writer. If you haven't checked,
00:12:38.300 Steve's written a few guest posts for us and they've done really well. I'll link to them in the
00:12:44.220 show notes. But what I love about Nerd Fitness is how creative you are with your post. I mean,
00:12:49.540 you have like the Konami code workout. You have like how to explore your neighborhood, like the
00:12:55.420 Goonies. I mean, I just, I love it because I just, I resonate with that stuff because yeah, I used the
00:13:00.800 Konami code as a kid. Goonies was like my favorite movie as a little guy. Like I actually demanded that
00:13:07.280 my family call me Mikey for like two months when I was like four years old because I was obsessed with
00:13:14.380 the Goonies. So yeah, where do you get inspiration? I mean, you just like, you'll be sitting watching a
00:13:18.880 movie and like, Hey, I could turn that into a post. I mean, what happens there? Yeah, seriously,
00:13:22.640 that's kind of how it happens. So actually that's a perfect example. Yesterday or two days ago,
00:13:27.360 I was, I was struggling to think of what I was going to write about for Nerd Fitness. And I was
00:13:31.980 thinking and running through my mind, like, you know, what, what sort of movie or video game or
00:13:37.420 TV show haven't I covered yet? And generally I look back and think of like, what were the things
00:13:41.260 that influenced me as a kid? And for me, it was movies like Karate Kid. Like I was, I was Daniel's
00:13:45.940 son. My mom made me the karate outfit. I even like, she even drew with a Sharpie. Oh, my mom did that too.
00:13:51.940 At the, on the, on the, on the headband. Um, I can't tell you how many times I've probably
00:13:56.140 practiced the crane kick. Uh, so I really look back and think like what molded my childhood and what are
00:14:01.800 some things that people can look back on with nostalgia and say like, Oh God, I definitely
00:14:05.900 remember that. And that's kind of a really unique way of looking at it. You know? So it's, it's,
00:14:10.500 it's really a lot of it is the same thing that you might get other sites when it's, yeah,
00:14:14.320 you need to eat better and yes, you need to focus on building proper habits and sleeping more and
00:14:18.160 eating right, but you can get that anywhere. So I was like, how can I do this in a way that it's
00:14:22.440 going to be really unique and people can come to Nerd Fitness and say, yep, definitely not getting that
00:14:26.840 anywhere else. And that's where these, these videos and I'm sorry, that's where these, like
00:14:31.080 these articles based on video games and movies come in. Oh, anyways, the other day I was literally
00:14:35.520 sitting at my computer trying to figure out what the heck I was going to write about. And out of
00:14:39.020 a blue Oregon trail popped into my head. It's a game that I used to play, you know, like in fourth
00:14:43.300 grade, you have to go to like the computer lab and you'd have 45 minutes to try to get from
00:14:47.580 Independence, Missouri up to Oregon. So I wrote 2000 words on the Oregon trail because I just,
00:14:53.200 that was, that's something that's always stuck in my mind as a game that I will never, ever forget.
00:14:57.620 So I try to pick things that I've loved or things that have really influenced me from the time I was
00:15:03.680 two up until now and combining it with a way that is also self-improvement or fitness or diet related
00:15:10.720 that gets people to think about their lives or what they're trying to improve about themselves in a
00:15:14.860 unique way. Yeah, that's awesome. I read the Oregon trail post and yeah, I do remember going
00:15:19.380 to the computer lab on the old max and playing the, uh, the Oregon trail and I always died of
00:15:25.560 dysentery. My family. Yeah. Yeah. You got to watch out for that. Um, so you've worked with the, I
00:15:32.480 imagine hundreds, if not thousands of people and interacted with them on your site. And then I
00:15:38.400 think you're doing some consulting now or some coaching. Um, what do you think is, what have you
00:15:44.720 seen as the biggest obstacle that prevents people from taking actions to get into shape or what
00:15:51.240 stops them from actually reaching their, their fitness goals? Uh, a couple of things, honestly,
00:15:56.780 I think that the first one, and it's the toughest one to overcome is human nature. You know, by, by
00:16:01.760 nature, we are creatures of habit. We love to do the same things repeatedly. And the second we try to
00:16:06.680 do something outside of that normal habit, it requires a lot more brain power and effort and willpower
00:16:12.320 than we're used to. So I think a big issue is a lot of people try to do way too much too soon.
00:16:17.040 They will radically change their diet and decide they're going to start working out for an hour and
00:16:21.420 a half every day and go for a walk and sleep an extra hour. And they'll last like four days and
00:16:27.020 things will go great. And then they'll either get sick or get stuck at work or their kid will have to
00:16:30.820 come home early from school for whatever reason. And as soon as one thing goes wrong in that perfect,
00:16:35.720 in that perfect mix that they're trying to build, everything falls apart. So I think a huge issue with a lot of
00:16:42.140 people is they try to do a little too much too soon. And they'd be much better off picking one
00:16:46.080 habit or two habits that are very small, but attainable, that they can then focus on. For
00:16:51.620 that, I mean, if you're trying to, let's say you want to go running every day, make it a five minute
00:16:56.600 run. And that's it for an entire month, you're going to put on your shoes, you're going to go run for
00:17:00.640 five minutes. And it might not seem like very much, but what you're doing is actually building the
00:17:03.640 habit of, I can do this. And every day, this is something I can build on. And not only that, but if you can
00:17:08.800 tell yourself, okay, I can do this for five minutes, as soon as your five minutes is up,
00:17:11.860 you're probably going to think, oh, I can go for a little bit longer or a little bit longer.
00:17:15.660 But I think habit building is one thing that a lot of people definitely struggle with. And I see it
00:17:19.840 every year. I see it with every time there's a New Year's Eve, I'm sorry, a New Year's resolution post,
00:17:24.700 or if you walked into any gym, the first three days after the New Year's, you can't get to anything in
00:17:29.980 the gym because it's overrun. And then two weeks later, there's nobody there because they've already
00:17:33.340 all given up on everything that they've tried to set aside. So I think that's a big one.
00:17:38.800 Uh, secondly, I think a lot of people don't really have a great reason for why they're trying to get
00:17:43.960 healthy. They just say, oh, I should get healthy. Or like, oh, my doctor says maybe I should get
00:17:48.820 healthy. And they keep using the word should, or maybe at some point I should do this. But that
00:17:52.160 great reason set aside that tells them I'm doing this for the right reason, or I'm doing this because
00:17:57.040 of this particular thing. Like, actually, I have a, well, I used to have a post-it note. Now I actually
00:18:01.480 have a decorative pillow in my apartment that says, get busy living or get busy dying on it.
00:18:05.680 From the Shawshank Redemption, the mantra that I've chosen to adopt as far as how I live my life.
00:18:11.360 It's like, look, guys, we only have one shot at this. And I look at that every day and it makes
00:18:14.660 me think I need to get off my butt and go do something and find a way to improve my life.
00:18:18.900 For some people, it might be the kid that they just had, or because they want to look in the
00:18:22.360 mirror with pride or whatever it is. But if they don't keep that reason at the front of their mind,
00:18:26.180 they're going to give up at the first sign of adversity. So I think those are probably the two
00:18:29.540 biggest ones. Make sure they have an actual reason to make the changes that they'd like to make.
00:18:34.640 And then two, putting proper habit building systems in place so that they can actually
00:18:39.380 follow through with this stuff instead of giving up after two weeks.
00:18:42.060 Awesome. So what's in store for Nerd Fitness in 2013? What can we see from you?
00:18:48.540 All kinds of stuff. Let's see. We've actually, we had our big Nerd Fitness meeting. And I say big,
00:18:53.440 there's like three of us on the Nerd Fitness team these days. Big meeting for what we're going to do in
00:18:58.220 2013. First and foremost, we are in the process of finally launching this half video game, half
00:19:05.660 fitness program that we're building called Rising Heroes. And it's a concept I've had for years and
00:19:11.400 years and years and years. And finally, about two and a half years ago, I finally got to the point
00:19:15.480 where I could start building it. But we're combining the addictive nature of World of Warcraft and games
00:19:20.060 like that, or Legend of Zelda, and combining it with reasons that people are going to want to go
00:19:24.100 outside and exercise. So looking at yourself like a fitness character and looking at the world like
00:19:28.780 one giant video game. So that is the big one. We're finally letting people in to our beta test,
00:19:34.940 I think, within the next couple of days, which should be great. And then from there, we can expand.
00:19:38.960 That's a big one. Two, we're going to launch our first, hopefully our, actually, it'll be our second,
00:19:44.860 our second iPhone app. I want to make an official Nerd Fitness iPhone app. We just put out our first
00:19:50.540 iPhone app about a month ago, based on the paleo diet. It has done incredibly well. And people have
00:19:55.520 been, you know, it's been really responsive, and people have really enjoyed it. So I'm excited to
00:19:59.700 take what I've learned from building that first app and building a building a second app. And then
00:20:04.760 the third thing, I hope I can get it done this year might be next year. But I want to have something
00:20:09.660 called Camp Nerd Fitness, where we have essentially like a giant summer camp for adults, where we'll take
00:20:16.300 literally take over a summer camp for a long weekend. And Nerd Fitness readers can fly in
00:20:21.340 and relive the epic adventures of a summer camp, while also learning about proper nutrition and
00:20:29.380 fitness, and playing video games at night and scavenger hunts, and, you know, kind of allowing
00:20:34.860 people to go back to being a big kid for at least a long weekend and leave that weekend with all the
00:20:40.660 tools that they need to living a better life. So I want to say those are probably the three big things
00:20:44.940 we're focusing on for 2013. That's awesome. Camp Nerd Fitness sounds a lot like Camp Nowhere.
00:20:50.320 Did you ever see that movie? Absolutely. Yeah, that movie was awesome. Well, fantastic. So I got two
00:20:56.920 last questions, because you are the owner of Nerd Fitness. So I need to ask you these questions.
00:21:02.680 What is your favorite superhero and favorite video game? Okay, favorite superhero. It's actually,
00:21:10.020 it's changed recently. So growing up, it was always Superman. Like I went dressed as
00:21:14.860 Superman for I think, like six Halloweens in a row. And then on like random Tuesdays,
00:21:19.400 when I just felt like I needed to be dressed up like Superman. So it was Superman up until
00:21:24.260 really, I started Nerd Fitness. And since then, it's changed to Captain America. The reason it's
00:21:29.880 changed Captain America, because I can totally relate to Steve Rogers, like, he was this skinny,
00:21:35.200 weak dude that really just wanted to help inspire people get better. And so he, you know,
00:21:40.240 obviously changed his life. I don't I don't plan on injecting myself with any sort of serums anytime soon.
00:21:44.120 But he went about inspiring people through his actions and not, you know, he really just wanted
00:21:51.180 to make the world a better place and inspire those around him to live better. And I was like, hey,
00:21:54.840 that's kind of what I'm doing. Like I was a skinny, weak guy. And I've taken steps to live better. And
00:21:59.780 now I'm hopefully through my actions are inspiring other people to live better. So Superman was the
00:22:04.780 favorite, but I can relate probably the most to Captain America. Favorite video game?
00:22:11.360 Uh, I would have to say it's gotta be one of the Legend of Zeldas.
00:22:17.100 Uh, Ocarina of Time was pretty fantastic. The one for Nintendo 64, but probably the most memorable
00:22:21.600 would be A Link to the Past for Super Nintendo. I remember actually, my mom told me I had to stop
00:22:26.800 playing that game once because I couldn't sleep because I had the dungeon music stuck in my head.
00:22:31.660 And like, I'd go to sleep and close my eyes and I'd see the inside of a Zelda dungeon from that game
00:22:37.000 and hear the music. And I think she took it away from me for like a month. And she was like,
00:22:41.120 you should probably stop playing. So, uh, probably Legend of Zeldas, A Link to the Past would have to
00:22:44.840 be my favorite.
00:22:45.720 Yeah, that, that was my favorite game too. And I'll still like every now and then I'll bring it back
00:22:50.260 up on an emulator just to play it. Well, Steve, I really appreciate you taking the time. Lots of
00:22:55.680 great information here. And, uh, thanks again. Oh, thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
00:23:01.820 Our guest day was Steve Cam. Steve is the founder and owner of nerdfitness.com.
