The Ben Shapiro Show - A Kamala Through The Eye Of A Needle | Ep. 1073

00:00:00.000 Joe Biden introduces Kamala Harris as his vice presidential pick, while the media run cover for her radicalism, President Trump looks for an angle of attack, and the media cannot handle good news on COVID.

00:00:10.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:10.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:24.000 A lot of news to get to.

00:00:25.000 We'll get to all of it in just one second.

00:00:27.000 First, you may have noticed that there's a lot of uncertainty right now.

00:00:30.000 Like, we've got a presidential election going on.

00:00:31.000 COVID continues to dominate the news.

00:00:34.000 The economy is really, really up and down.

00:00:36.000 Like, we don't know where things are going next.

00:00:38.000 Now might be a pretty good time to diversify at least a little bit into precious metals.

00:00:42.000 In fact, I've been telling you that since 2016.

00:00:44.000 And to invest in precious metals with Birch Gold.

00:00:46.000 That was way back when gold was $1,300.

00:00:47.000 Right now, gold is at a new all-time high.

00:00:50.000 Why?

00:00:51.000 Well, gold and silver thrive on uncertainty, and I cannot imagine a more uncertain time than this one.

00:00:56.000 I'll tell you again, if you haven't reached out to Birch Gold to diversify part of your IRA or 401k into a precious metals IRA or just purchase physical gold or silver from them, go ahead and do it today.

00:01:05.000 Text Ben to 474747.

00:01:07.000 Get a free information kit on protecting your savings with gold.

00:01:10.000 Listen, I have a little bit of my money in precious metals.

00:01:12.000 You should too.

00:01:13.000 I trust the folks over at Birchgold.

00:01:14.000 They've got an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.

00:01:16.000 Countless five-star reviews.

00:01:18.000 Ask all your questions.

00:01:18.000 Talk to them.

00:01:19.000 Get all the information when you feel comfortable.

00:01:21.000 Then talk about investing a little bit of your money in precious metals.

00:01:24.000 Text Ben to 474747.

00:01:26.000 When you open an IRA in precious metals before August 30th, you'll be the first to get a signed copy of my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps for free.

00:01:34.000 Again, text Ben to 474747 right now.

00:01:35.000 47 47 47 right now it's expense you 47 47 47 alrighty so yesterday was the big day It was the day when Joe Biden would present Kamala Harris to the world.

00:01:46.000 Now, we already knew Kamala Harris. 0.79

00:01:48.000 We didn't like her much.

00:01:49.000 But now was the moment when we were supposed to gaze upon her anew with new eyes.

00:01:53.000 Now she was exciting.

00:01:54.000 You remember that whole year or so when she was in the public eye and everybody thought she was terrible?

00:01:58.000 And for like five seconds, everybody's like, wow, she's good at this because she was really mean to Joe Biden.

00:02:03.000 And she said that he was a racist.

00:02:04.000 And then she couldn't back that up. 0.73

00:02:06.000 Because she was just saying things, because that's what she does, because she's a terrible opportunistic authoritarian. 1.00

00:02:10.000 And then she sort of disappeared.

00:02:12.000 And everybody was kind of relieved, but the media was like, oh man, isn't it sad that she's gone after she ran such a terrible campaign? 0.63

00:02:17.000 And now she's back.

00:02:18.000 And we're supposed to be supes excited that Kamala Harris is back, because now she's great at this. 1.00

00:02:23.000 I mean, a perfect indicator of this, by the way, is the New York Times.

00:02:26.000 The New York Times took a picture of Kamala Harris on the day she dropped out and talked about her chaotic terrible campaign. That was basically the headline. And then they used the exact same picture, just a little bit closer up. And then when she was selected as VP, it was historic moment.

00:02:38.000 Kamala Harris selected as Joe Biden's VP. Same exact picture, two completely different headlines because the media can swivel on a dime, whatever the Democrats need, media will be there to So, yesterday, Joe Biden presented Harris to the world.

00:02:53.000 This was shortly after Joe Biden read a script to Kamala Harris offering her the job.

00:02:58.000 It was very spontaneous.

00:02:59.000 The whole situation was incredibly spontaneous.

00:03:02.000 For some reason, Joe Biden was wearing a mask with nobody in sight.

00:03:05.000 And also, he was reading off a note card that reminded him who Kamala Harris was.

00:03:10.000 Not really kidding.

00:03:11.000 And also he was holding his cell phone upside down.

00:03:13.000 But he then had a very spontaneous conversation.

00:03:15.000 And it's this sort of spontaneity and joy we can look forward to for the next three months at a very minimum.

00:03:20.000 Here was the original conversation, supposedly, between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

00:03:24.000 And you can listen to how surprised and overjoyed Kamala, almost as surprised as she was when she loved the bus.

00:03:29.000 Remember that time when Kamala Harris loved the bus right back during her campaign?

00:03:32.000 They presented her with the repainted bus from The Fugitive that she had used to bus truant children over to the juvenile detention facility.

00:03:40.000 Remember that one?

00:03:41.000 And Harris came out and she looked at the bus and she was like super duper happy.

00:03:44.000 Do you have tape of that?

00:03:45.000 Kamala Harris loving the bus?

00:03:47.000 Look at my bus!

00:03:49.000 Oh my god, I love it!

00:03:51.000 Oh wow!

00:03:55.000 And you remember, that was like take 37.

00:03:56.000 That was when she looked super spontaneous, right?

00:03:59.000 Well, now we get that same level of spontaneity and joy and happiness.

00:04:04.000 I mean, she's just a joyful, spontaneous, happy person, Kamala Harris.

00:04:07.000 When Joe Biden presents her with the VP pick, here that was yesterday.

00:04:10.000 Hi, hi, hi, hi.

00:04:12.000 Sorry to keep you.

00:04:13.000 That's all right.

00:04:15.000 You ready to go to work?

00:04:16.000 Oh, my God.

00:04:19.000 I'm so ready to go to work.

00:04:20.000 First of all, is the answer yes?

00:04:22.000 The answer is absolutely yes, Joe, and I am ready to work.

00:04:26.000 I am ready to do this with you, for you.

00:04:29.000 I'm just deeply honored and I'm very excited.

00:04:35.000 Okay, and then she proceeded, I kid you not, to go into a 45 second stump speech on criminal justice reform and all of her various policies. 0.99

00:04:42.000 So it wasn't rehearsed in any way.

00:04:43.000 You can tell because you have the guy in the background who's playing music with the little guitar, the meaningful guitar.

00:04:48.000 So it was a joyous moment.

00:04:49.000 It was a joyous moment when Harris was announced at an empty gym in Wilmington, Delaware, because Joe Biden, thanks to his condition being like very, very old and never wanting to go anywhere, he went like a mile down the road to a gym and a big crowd gathered outside.

00:05:02.000 Crowds are good again.

00:05:04.000 Do you remember that time crowds were real bad?

00:05:06.000 And crowds were real bad because of COVID.

00:05:07.000 And then crowds got good when it was for Black Lives Matter.

00:05:10.000 Then crowds were really, really awesome.

00:05:11.000 And in fact, they were fighting a health problem.

00:05:13.000 Well, then they were bad again because the BLM protests sort of waned and you saw some people partying.

00:05:17.000 And so those crowds were bad.

00:05:18.000 Well, now the crowds are good again because they were gathered outside of the Joe Biden festivities.

00:05:24.000 And by the way, that was like 100 people, which is levels of enthusiasm unmatched since the last Nickelback concert.

00:05:31.000 The crowd gathered outside.

00:05:32.000 The whole thing was really run beautifully.

00:05:35.000 CNN reported that the gym had no air conditioning.

00:05:37.000 There was a power outage at the event site, which is apt to happen in Wilmington, Delaware, on the spur of the moment, because this thing is being run like a third grade secretary for student council campaign.

00:05:47.000 Basically, never leave your homeroom, but campaign from your homeroom, Joe Biden.

00:05:51.000 So here is CNN reporting that yesterday.

00:05:53.000 We know they're delayed right now.

00:05:54.000 It was supposed to start earlier and I'm just hearing in my ear that there was a there's an issue with the power outage at the school.

00:06:00.000 Is that what is behind the delay?

00:06:03.000 It certainly could be one of the reasons behind the delay, but we also know that Biden campaign events often are late.

00:06:09.000 We do expect this momentarily, but again, not probably the best rollout to look that they had planned.

00:06:16.000 So Biden was about an hour late to this thing.

00:06:18.000 The good news is that Joe Biden didn't notice that.

00:06:20.000 He just called it early bird dinner.

00:06:22.000 So then, Joe Biden finally arrives to introduce Kamala Harris.

00:06:26.000 And he makes it perfectly obvious, the appeal of Kamala Harris.

00:06:28.000 Namely, she checks all the intersectional boxes.

00:06:31.000 We can all be real about this.

00:06:32.000 If Joe Biden had his druthers, he would have chosen somebody who is not Kamala Harris.

00:06:36.000 He would have chosen perhaps Amy Klobuchar, with whom he is close, and whose endorsement at the sort of tail end of the campaign actually meant an awful lot because it helped shift support behind Biden right before the South Carolina primaries.

00:06:49.000 He may have preferred Cory Booker.

00:06:50.000 He may have preferred a man. 0.95

00:06:51.000 But he boxed himself into a corner by saying, I need a black woman, basically. 0.98

00:06:55.000 And that limited his choices to a bunch of people who are not senators and Kamala Harris.

00:06:58.000 So then he's going to use that as a weapon.

00:07:01.000 So his new weapon is, here is my VP pick Kamala Harris, a black woman. 1.00

00:07:05.000 And if you attack her in any way, it's because she is black and also a woman. 0.95

00:07:09.000 That is the only reason that you would be upset with Kamala Harris is because she's black and also a woman. 1.00

00:07:13.000 Not that she's a terrible candidate.

00:07:14.000 Not that she's a radical.

00:07:16.000 Not that she's an authoritarian with opportunistic tendencies.

00:07:18.000 Nope. 0.98

00:07:19.000 The reason you're attacking her is because she's black and a woman. 1.00

00:07:22.000 So here's Joe Biden doing this routine yesterday. 0.97

00:07:26.000 Donald Trump has already started his attacks calling Kamala, quote, nasty.

00:07:32.000 Whining about how she is, quote, mean to his appointees.

00:07:38.000 It's no surprise, because whining is what Donald Trump does best, better than any president in American history.

00:07:45.000 Is anyone surprised Donald Trump has a problem?

00:07:48.000 The strong women are strong women across the board.

00:07:51.000 Okay, and this is going to be the line.

00:07:53.000 Get ready for the media to cover this line.

00:07:55.000 Whatever the Democrat line is, the beautiful thing about the media is they really are a fantastic communications organ for the Democratic Party.

00:08:01.000 It's truly incredible.

00:08:02.000 This was the line, as we'll see.

00:08:04.000 Like all of yesterday, it will be for all of today, it will be for the next several weeks, is that any attack on Kamala Harris betrays your sexism and your rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Wait for it.

00:08:19.000 Sexism and racism.

00:08:21.000 Okay, there's gonna be a lot of that.

00:08:23.000 So then Biden said, let me introduce you to your next vice president, Kamala Harris, in an empty gym. 0.99

00:08:29.000 And she's looking at him with the Cheshire Cat smile.

00:08:33.000 Joe, get a food taster.

00:08:34.000 Here was Joe Biden yesterday.

00:08:38.000 We need to get to work.

00:08:40.000 Pulling this nation out of these crises we find ourselves in.

00:08:44.000 Getting our economy back on track.

00:08:46.000 Uniting this nation.

00:08:48.000 And yes, winning the battle for the soul of America.

00:08:53.000 My fellow Americans, now let me introduce to you, for the first time, your next Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.

00:09:04.000 Okay, Kamala Harris.

00:09:05.000 Okay, and also he mispronounced her name at some point in his speech.

00:09:09.000 So we should point that out because Tucker Carlson mispronounced her name and that meant that Tucker Carlson was a racist.

00:09:14.000 So I will admit that because I'm familiar with Kamala Harris, she's been the senator for my garbage state for several years here and was AG before that, I used to pronounce it the way that it kind of looks on paper, which is Kamala.

00:09:24.000 It looks like the emphasis should be on the second syllable.

00:09:27.000 But in fact, the emphasis is on the first syllable.

00:09:30.000 It is pronounced Kamala.

00:09:31.000 I only know that again because I'm from California, but you could be forgiven for mispronouncing the name.

00:09:35.000 It's not exactly a common name.

00:09:37.000 And if you've got to take the list of the most common names in America, Kamala is probably not near the top of the list.

00:09:42.000 Joe Biden screwed it up yesterday. 0.99

00:09:44.000 It's obviously because he's a racist and also a sexist. 0.99

00:09:47.000 Here was Joe Biden yesterday. 0.97

00:09:49.000 When I agreed to serve as President Obama's running mate, he asked me a number of questions as I've asked Kamala.

00:09:56.000 The most important was he said to me, what He asked me what I wanted most importantly.

00:10:05.000 I told him I wanted to be the last person in the room before he made important decisions.

00:10:12.000 That's what I asked Kamala.

00:10:13.000 Kamala.

00:10:14.000 Ah, there she is. 0.97

00:10:15.000 Kamala.

00:10:16.000 Like through a knife and needle, Kamala. 0.99

00:10:18.000 So, he's a racist. 0.99

00:10:20.000 And she'll go back to doing that, by the way. 0.99

00:10:21.000 If ever it should become convenient, Joe Biden should watch for the knife between the shoulder blades, where she goes right back to suggesting that he is credibly accused of sexual assault and also is a racist.

00:10:32.000 At some point, somebody in the media probably should do a little bit of journalism and ask her, you know, what changed in your opinion about Joe Biden?

00:10:37.000 What convinced you that he was no longer a sexual harasser? 0.83

00:10:40.000 Did new evidence emerge or are you just opportunistic and terrible? 0.99

00:10:44.000 Nobody will ever ask her that question, of course, because they are busy massaging her buttocks. 1.00

00:10:48.000 This is what the media do on a regular basis. 0.94

00:10:50.000 And it's not just her, obviously, any Democrat.

00:10:52.000 Barack Obama, the number of massage oils available to the press in the White House press room for Barack Obama is pretty astonishing.

00:11:00.000 I mean, they had like, they had all of the sort of chamomile smells.

00:11:04.000 They would actually dim the lights during the press conferences with Barack Obama in preparation for the massage to follow.

00:11:10.000 And then Harris got up and she just lied about things because that's what Kamala Harris does because she's actually a terrible, terrible person and a bad politician. 1.00

00:11:16.000 So yesterday, she gets up and she says, you know, the Trump administration really screwed up the response to COVID.

00:11:23.000 Now, there are things you can say here that would make some sense, right?

00:11:26.000 They should have accelerated the testing.

00:11:28.000 How is it that we're several months in here and the testing delays are still so great that if you're in New Jersey and you get a test, It could still take you 7 to 14 days to get a result, which is essentially useless.

00:11:37.000 Why is it that the Trump administration didn't take this thing more seriously at the very beginning, and the president didn't take masking more seriously at the very beginning?

00:11:44.000 Why was the president in conflict with his ex-wife?

00:11:46.000 There are things you can say, and they're a little bit more shaded, and there's probably some truth to them.

00:11:51.000 And then the response would be pretty obvious, which is that Democrats also didn't take this thing super seriously at the beginning.

00:11:55.000 And you can have that conversation, right?

00:11:57.000 That conversation is a haveable conversation. 1.00

00:11:59.000 Or you could leverage the stupidest possible attack imaginable about COVID. 1.00

00:12:05.000 So because Kamala Harris is a rote, manipulative, lying and awful politician, she did precisely the latter. 1.00

00:12:12.000 This is maybe the stupidest point about COVID anyone has yet made. 1.00

00:12:17.000 But don't worry, guys. 0.99

00:12:18.000 She is just a godsend.

00:12:20.000 She is the new politics. 0.96

00:12:21.000 She's the new face of American Democratic Party politics. 0.89

00:12:25.000 Wow, what a wonder Kamala Harris is. 1.00

00:12:27.000 Here she was yesterday saying something unbelievably stupid. 1.00

00:12:32.000 It didn't have to be this way. 1.00

00:12:34.000 Six years ago, in fact, we had a different health crisis.

00:12:37.000 It was called Ebola.

00:12:40.000 And we all remember that pandemic.

00:12:42.000 But you know what happened then?

00:12:44.000 Barack Obama and Joe Biden did their job.

00:12:49.000 Only two people in the United States died.

00:12:52.000 Two.

00:12:54.000 That is what's called leadership.

00:12:57.000 So she just compared COVID, a highly transmissible disease that, in fact, good evidence shows now, is airborne, with Ebola, which is transmitted through bodily fluids and not nearly as transmissible and far more deadly, But also not nearly as transmissible.

00:12:57.000 Wow.

00:13:16.000 She may as well have gotten up there and said, you know, during the Obama administration, only two Americans died of wild rhinoceros attacks because Barack Obama knew how to stop wild rhinoceri.

00:13:30.000 That is, Barack Obama was an expert at stopping death.

00:13:34.000 But COVID, I mean, let's face it, Trump, Ebola is not anything like, like remotely like this.

00:13:42.000 And the reason that she didn't go to bird flu, the reason she didn't go to H1N1 is because the Obama administration blew it and just got lucky.

00:13:46.000 The thing wasn't nearly as transmissible or as deadly overall as COVID has been.

00:13:52.000 H1N1 was pretty well blown by the Obama administration.

00:13:55.000 It turns out that global unprecedented pandemics are not well handled.

00:13:59.000 Across the world.

00:14:00.000 Across the world.

00:14:01.000 Right now, as we're going to get to a little bit later on in the show, we're seeing spikes in a lot of places.

00:14:04.000 People thought they were already done.

00:14:05.000 Spain, France, Germany.

00:14:07.000 Obviously, Ron DeSantis' fault and Trump's fault.

00:14:09.000 But the sheer dishonesty, and there's not a single fact check of this today.

00:14:12.000 There's not a single fact check.

00:14:13.000 No one in the media is like, hey, wait, isn't that weird that you just compared Ebola to COVID when they are completely dissimilar diseases?

00:14:21.000 Like absolutely 100% dissimilar.

00:14:24.000 One is only transmitted, again, through bodily fluids, like you get vomited on directly in the face or there's diarrhea or something.

00:14:30.000 That's how Ebola gets transmitted versus COVID, where you're in the same room with a human for 10 minutes and you probably get COVID if the person has COVID.

00:14:37.000 That seems a little different, but that wasn't Kamala Harris's only lie of her acceptance of the VP speech here.

00:14:44.000 She also suggested that Donald Trump had mysteriously tanked the American economy.

00:14:50.000 So here's another lie.

00:14:51.000 Will she be fact-checked on this?

00:14:52.000 Of course not.

00:14:53.000 The media are too busy laying out rose petals on the path from the podium to the White House vice presidential office.

00:15:02.000 They've got those rose petals. 0.53

00:15:04.000 They've got the little glasses of champagne, you know, but not the expensive ones, like the cheap ones, like the brute champagne with like the cheap plastic glasses.

00:15:11.000 They can't afford anything better.

00:15:13.000 But you know, they're doing their best.

00:15:15.000 It's okay.

00:15:16.000 They also got her some jewelry.

00:15:17.000 They went to K's.

00:15:18.000 In any case, here was Kamala Harris lying about the economy as well. 0.52

00:15:22.000 No fact checks on this one either.

00:15:25.000 Trump is also the reason millions of Americans are now unemployed.

00:15:30.000 He inherited the longest economic expansion in history from Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

00:15:39.000 And then, like everything else he inherited, He ran it straight into the ground.

00:15:45.000 Ah, because he inherited wealth and then he ran it.

00:15:48.000 OK, so I have a question.

00:15:49.000 Are you old enough to remember back to March, like the beginning of March?

00:15:54.000 Are you old enough to remember that when we had like a 4% unemployment rate in the United States?

00:15:57.000 Do you remember that?

00:15:58.000 Because you're older than six months old, you're older than my baby daughter.

00:16:01.000 So you're old enough to remember that.

00:16:03.000 Has something happened, like an intervening event perhaps, that may have changed the nature of the American economy?

00:16:09.000 Also, in response, is it not the case that the federal government, between the Federal Reserve blowing out the spending and Congress blowing out the spending, has spent somewhere on the order of seven to eight trillion dollars in the past six months?

00:16:20.000 Something like that, which seems like a pretty robust response from the federal government.

00:16:24.000 Because according to Kamala Harris, basically everything was going swimmingly, and then the economy tanked in 2017.

00:16:33.000 Okay, so are there any fact-checks of this today?

00:16:34.000 Of course there are no fact-checks of this today.

00:16:36.000 Of course there are no fact-checks of this today.

00:16:37.000 Because Kamala Harris is a truth-teller.

00:16:39.000 And the Democrats are truth-tellers.

00:16:40.000 COVID is just like Ebola.

00:16:42.000 And the economy was getting killed by Trump before COVID.

00:16:48.000 What a stellar human being Kamala Harris is and what stellar people we have in our media as well. 1.00

00:16:51.000 We'll get to the media coverage in just one second.

00:16:53.000 Journalisming up the wazoo.

00:16:55.000 I mean, they're just getting the journalism everywhere.

00:16:57.000 It's crazy.

00:16:58.000 They just sit there and they pant in the journalism everywhere.

00:17:00.000 It's insane.

00:17:01.000 We'll get to that in just one second.

00:17:02.000 First, especially with the economy in pretty uncertain territory, businesses, you need to be smart with your expenses.

00:17:08.000 I mean, right now, can you really afford to be spending too much on things like postage?

00:17:11.000 Of course, you cannot.

00:17:12.000 You need to be cutting costs wherever you can.

00:17:13.000 Plus, you need to save time because time is, in fact, money.

00:17:16.000 This is why stamps.com exists.

00:18:04.000 Go to Stamps.com, click on the microphone at the top of the homepage, type in Shapiro, get a special deal.

00:18:08.000 That includes a four-week trial, plus free postage and a digital scale, no long-term commitments.

00:18:12.000 Again, just go to stamps.com, click on that microphone at the top of the homepage, type in Shapiro.

00:18:16.000 That is stamps.com, enter code Shapiro.

00:18:20.000 Okay, so the media come out four square for Kamala Harris, and they are defending all of the lines of attack.

00:18:27.000 So there are several lines of attack on Kamala Harris.

00:18:29.000 One, she's deeply inauthentic and terrible.

00:18:32.000 Two, she happens to be extraordinarily radical on politics.

00:18:35.000 It is a basic truth that Kamala Harris is a radical.

00:18:39.000 I played you 1,000 clips of her yesterday being extraordinarily radical. 0.99

00:18:42.000 Everything from Medicare for All, and we're going to kill your private health insurance, to illegal immigrants should get Medicare, to the ISIS like the KKK, to Justice Brett Kavanaugh is probably a rapist. 0.97

00:18:51.000 Two, I'm gonna use executive orders to get rid of all guns, right? 0.99

00:18:53.000 I mean, all assault weapons, by which she means basically semi-automatic guns of any sort.

00:18:58.000 And Kamala Harris is an authoritarian leftist.

00:19:00.000 She is rated by virtually every objective political analysis as the most leftist senator in the United States Senate. 0.61

00:19:09.000 Like, to the left of Bernie Sanders, according to many of these analyses.

00:19:12.000 The media, however, have decided that they're going to defend against this by simply declaring her a moderate.

00:19:17.000 I mean, magically, she's just a moderate now.

00:19:19.000 It was amazing how that happened.

00:19:20.000 Five seconds ago, she was a radical leftist, and everybody knew it. 1.00

00:19:24.000 But now, she needs to be a moderate, and so thus, poof, she's a moderate. 1.00

00:19:29.000 George Stephanopoulos.

00:19:30.000 Again, objective journalist, George Stephanopoulos.

00:19:33.000 Who wrote in his memoir about looking at Hillary Clinton and crying together upon Bill Clinton's victory in 1992, George Stephanopoulos.

00:19:41.000 And it's just, it's insane to me still.

00:19:43.000 It will never stop being insane to me that the Keebler elf, George Stephanopoulos, who worked for the Clinton administration as like their head of comms, that that guy ended up as the chief news anchor at ABC News. 0.68

00:19:54.000 It's like Karl Rove ending up as chief news anchor for NBC.

00:19:58.000 That's really what it was.

00:19:59.000 I mean, this is crazy.

00:20:00.000 But George Stephanopoulos, not a Democratic Party hack, mind you.

00:20:03.000 Not a Democratic Party hack.

00:20:04.000 A master of journalisming.

00:20:06.000 George Stephanopoulos, the pre-Jim Acosta, Jim Acosta.

00:20:09.000 The granddaddy of Acostaism.

00:20:12.000 George Stephanopoulos, yesterday, he declared that Kamala Harris comes from the middle of the Democratic Party.

00:20:17.000 Oh, does she?

00:20:18.000 Does she now?

00:20:19.000 Here he was yesterday.

00:20:20.000 Kamala Harris comes from the middle of the road, moderate wing of the Democratic Party. 0.92

00:20:25.000 Not the first choice of progressives, but Joe Biden banking that this historic move as the first woman of color on a national ticket will overcome that.

00:20:35.000 Ah, that's what it is.

00:20:36.000 She's from the middle of the Democratic Party.

00:20:38.000 She's moderate now, guys.

00:20:40.000 Forget all the stuff we said about her being a radical.

00:20:41.000 She's moderate.

00:20:42.000 Chris Wallace did this routine yesterday, and this I'm surprised by, because Wallace is a better journalist than this.

00:20:46.000 I mean, seriously, this is just bad journalism.

00:20:48.000 He says, you know, Republicans are going to attack her as a wild leftist, but she isn't far left.

00:20:52.000 Yes, she is.

00:20:53.000 Yes, she is.

00:20:54.000 By any objective metric, she is one of the, if she's not the most liberal senator in the United States Senate, she's one of the top four. 0.73

00:21:00.000 Here is Chris Wallace yesterday just getting this completely wrong.

00:21:05.000 She did not do very well in the Democratic primaries, but that's for a variety of reasons.

00:21:10.000 She didn't run a great campaign. 1.00

00:21:12.000 But, you know, she is not far to the left, despite what Republicans are going to try to say.

00:21:19.000 There is a certain circuitous route to her position on issues.

00:21:25.000 She was for Medicare for All before she was against it.

00:21:28.000 But, you know, I think she's a reasonably safe choice.

00:21:33.000 Circuitous?

00:21:35.000 No.

00:21:35.000 She's manipulative.

00:21:36.000 She stakes out a very leftist position and then she moved away from that leftist position a little bit when it became clear that she was struggling in the primaries. 0.99

00:21:42.000 But she is of the hard left by her voting record.

00:21:45.000 You know who's open about this?

00:21:46.000 James Clyburn.

00:21:47.000 So James Clyburn, who was one of the early endorsers of Joe Biden, his endorsement of Joe Biden in South Carolina really gave Biden a boost right before those primaries.

00:21:55.000 He said yesterday, we're moving back to the left.

00:21:56.000 So who do you believe?

00:21:57.000 James Clyburn, who's actually in Congress with Kamala Harris?

00:21:59.000 Or all the journalists who are busy covering for Kamala Harris?

00:22:02.000 This country goes like a pendulum on the clock.

00:22:06.000 This country doesn't move in a linear plane.

00:22:09.000 It goes left for a while.

00:22:11.000 It goes back right for a while.

00:22:13.000 We saw this country go left and elect Barack Obama.

00:22:17.000 It went back right and elected Donald Trump.

00:22:20.000 This country is going back to the left.

00:22:24.000 I mean, how high are the hopes for Kamala Harris on the hard left? 0.64

00:22:27.000 High, because they understand that she's an authoritarian leftist. 1.00

00:22:30.000 MSNBC contributor, Jason Johnson, formerly of The Root, he announced yesterday that Kamala Harris will impeach Trump judges if she becomes president. 0.96

00:22:39.000 That Kamala Harris will essentially treat the GOP like the GOP treated the debathification of Saddam Hussein's party.

00:22:47.000 He actually made that comparison on MSNBC yesterday.

00:22:50.000 Here was Jason Johnson on MSNBC. 0.97

00:22:53.000 Somebody's got to go through and find all of these incompetent, unqualified, corrupt, white nationalist-supporting people that Trump has burrowed into our State Department. 0.98

00:23:04.000 Don't worry. 0.98

00:23:04.000 She's gonna be a perfect moderate. 0.98

00:23:05.000 She's a moderate.

00:23:06.000 She's a moderate to moderate, guys.

00:23:06.000 would be fantastic at finding those people and removing them.

00:23:09.000 Because she'll have the skill set to not only get rid of the officials and the bureaucrats, she can help us impeach some of these judges, these underqualified judges that Donald Trump has managed to push in. 0.81

00:23:19.000 Don't worry, she's going to be a perfect moderate. 0.81

00:23:21.000 She's a moderate, she's a moderate to moderate guys.

00:23:23.000 Just like Barack Obama was touted as moderate in 2008 before he started pushing extraordinarily radical plans on health care and spending and restructuring of the American governmental system.

00:23:32.000 Just a moderate.

00:23:33.000 And the other defense is obvious, right?

00:23:35.000 The other defense of Kamala Harris, besides that she is a moderate, which she obviously is not, is that any line of attack on Kamala Harris is, once again, a reflection of your rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Sexism.

00:23:49.000 We'll get to that in just one second.

00:23:51.000 First, let us talk about censorship on social media sites, what you can do about it.

00:23:55.000 The left would like to silence and remove any voices they don't agree with.

00:23:58.000 Twitter, for example, was supposed to be an open platform.

00:24:00.000 I don't really need their content moderators preventing me from seeing things I would like to see.

00:24:04.000 So instead of letting social media sites revoke your right to free speech, how about revoking their right to your data?

00:24:08.000 The way they make money is by taking your data and then monetizing it.

00:24:11.000 If you've ever wondered how free to access social media sites make all their cash, they track your searches, your video history, everything you click on, and then they sell your valuable data.

00:24:18.000 You don't have to let them do that.

00:24:19.000 Instead, use ExpressVPN the way that I do.

00:24:21.000 When you use ExpressVPN, you anonymize much of your online presence by hiding your IP address, which makes your activity more difficult to trace and sell.

00:24:28.000 And ExpressVPN couldn't be easier to set up.

00:24:29.000 You just tap one button on your phone or computer, you are now protected.

00:24:32.000 It also protects you from hackers who are looking for your credit card number, by the way.

00:24:35.000 ExpressVPN encrypts 100% of your data to protect you from hackers and internet bad guys.

00:24:39.000 It's finally time to say no to censorship and take back your online privacy at expressvpn.com slash Ben.

00:24:45.000 By visiting my special link, you get an extra three months of ExpressVPN service for free.

00:24:49.000 Again, that's e-x-p-r-e-s-s-v-p-n.com slash Ben.

00:24:52.000 Expressvpn.com slash Ben to protect your data today.

00:24:55.000 Expressvpn.com slash Ben.

00:24:57.000 You get an extra three months of ExpressVPN service for free.

00:25:00.000 Okay, so the other defense of Kamala Harris Is of course that if you attack her in any way it's because of racism and sexism. 0.98

00:25:06.000 First, I just want to mention how excited the members of the media are.

00:25:09.000 And if you don't believe me how excited they are, they'll just tell you.

00:25:11.000 Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC, she was like, I am so excited!

00:25:15.000 I am so excited!

00:25:17.000 She was so excited.

00:25:18.000 Sure she was being excited.

00:25:19.000 Telling you how excited she was about being excited.

00:25:22.000 She really connected with the women in the audience.

00:25:24.000 Extremely not just likable as they talk about as they, you know, people cover campaigns and talk about temperament, but she cares about women's issues. 0.68

00:25:33.000 She, she cares about equality deep within her soul from her own experience.

00:25:40.000 Um, we've had a great time knowing her so far and it's kind of exciting this.

00:25:47.000 Is it?

00:25:49.000 Is it now?

00:25:52.000 It's so tiresome.

00:25:52.000 By the way, the journalism over at the New York Times, incredible levels.

00:25:56.000 Nick Confessori is, I kid you not, a reporter for the New York Times.

00:25:59.000 He's also a staff writer at New York Times Magazine and an MSNBC political analyst.

00:26:03.000 Here's what he tweeted yesterday.

00:26:05.000 Don't think.

00:26:06.000 I've seen a candidate in a while who seemed as purely happy and joyful as Harris during that speech.

00:26:10.000 And why wouldn't she be?

00:26:13.000 So much joy.

00:26:14.000 So much authenticity.

00:26:16.000 Why shouldn't you?

00:26:16.000 I mean, first of all, she should be happy.

00:26:18.000 She was just plucked from complete failure and obscurity to be made the vice president of the United States, possibly. 1.00

00:26:23.000 So that seems like she should be happy.

00:26:24.000 But that sort of reporting, that's Pulitzer Prize level stuff.

00:26:27.000 I mean, just well done, everybody.

00:26:30.000 Well done, everybody.

00:26:32.000 But of course, the real line of attack for the Democrats is going to be that any attack on Kamala Harris, any, will be racist and sexist.

00:26:40.000 Susan Rice trotted this one out. 1.00

00:26:41.000 Susan Rice, who is likely to be a Secretary of State in a Joe Biden administration, God help us all. 0.99

00:26:46.000 She said, the only way you could attack a wonderful person like Kamala Harris is if you are a... Here she was yesterday. 1.00

00:26:55.000 There will be those that employ racism and sexism. 0.85

00:26:57.000 Look at Donald Trump yesterday, calling her nasty.

00:27:01.000 He would have done that to any person that Joe Biden selected on the ticket.

00:27:05.000 And that's the undertone.

00:27:07.000 There are those who will not retreat from that kind of divisiveness and hatred.

00:27:11.000 And Donald Trump exemplifies it.

00:27:13.000 She literally just said he would have called anybody that Biden picked nasty. 0.92

00:27:17.000 And then she was like, it's racist and sexist to call her nasty. 0.93

00:27:20.000 These two things do not go together.

00:27:22.000 By the way, Donald Trump will call anybody nasty.

00:27:25.000 He uses that adjective all the time.

00:27:26.000 Have you noticed that Donald Trump, while he may have the best words, there are only about eight of them, and nasty is in that lexicon.

00:27:32.000 He reuses a lot of these terms. 0.99

00:27:34.000 But every term that Donald Trump uses is now going to be recast as, he's a racist and a sexist. 0.98

00:27:38.000 And we've been seeing this for years, right? 0.96

00:27:40.000 Anytime he says something bad about a woman of color, for example, it turns into, the only reason he's attacking me is because I'm a woman of color.

00:27:48.000 It's not because I'm bad at my job or because he attacks everybody. 0.99

00:27:52.000 It's because he hates black women. 1.00

00:27:54.000 We saw this with Mayor Lori Lightfoot in Chicago. 0.99

00:27:56.000 She's like, look at the people he's attacking.

00:27:57.000 He's attacking me.

00:27:58.000 He's attacking Keisha Lance Bottoms.

00:28:00.000 And it's like, no, he's also attacking Ted Wheeler, who happens to be a super white dude.

00:28:03.000 He's attacking that mayor of Minneapolis, who is also a super white dude.

00:28:08.000 But no, it's all about the racism. 0.71

00:28:09.000 It's all about the sexism.

00:28:10.000 This is such a tired playbook.

00:28:11.000 It is so tired.

00:28:12.000 It is so old.

00:28:13.000 It is so boring.

00:28:14.000 But this is the line.

00:28:16.000 Jennifer Palmieri, the former communications director for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, told Lawrence O'Donnell yesterday that the Biden campaign and Senator Kamala Harris are prepared to fight back sexist attacks from Donald Trump. 0.61

00:28:26.000 Super duper sexist!

00:28:28.000 Sexist attacks against Kamala Harris.

00:28:32.000 And that's all the attacks are.

00:28:33.000 They are all indubitably and unstoppably sexist.

00:28:37.000 This is every article in the New York Times today.

00:28:39.000 All of them.

00:28:40.000 All of them.

00:28:41.000 The entire New York Times front to back, including the non-existent sports section.

00:28:44.000 The classifieds.

00:28:45.000 Every classified is Donald Trump launches sexist attack against Kamala Harris.

00:28:49.000 Here's one of those articles from the New York Times today.

00:28:51.000 today, Kamala Harris crystallizes Trump's view of women. 1.00

00:28:54.000 They're nasty or housewives. 1.00

00:28:56.000 Wow, this is some solid analyzing by Katie Rogers. 0.60

00:29:01.000 As Ms. Harris joined the Democratic ticket, the president wasted no time calling her nasty and praising the suburban housewife he says will vote for him.

00:29:06.000 His views are out of step with reality.

00:29:10.000 In the hours since Senator Kamala Harris joined the Democratic presidential ticket, says the New York Times, President Trump has responded by sorting women The good suburban housewife he believes will vote for him and nasty women who have not shown him or his political allies a sufficient amount of respect.

00:29:25.000 Okay, so...

00:29:26.000 Let us be frank.

00:29:28.000 President Trump is not wildly articulate. 0.99

00:29:30.000 It is also not true that he has sorted American women into two categories, suburban housewives and nasty women. 0.92

00:29:35.000 This is a complete conjecture on the part of the New York Times. 0.85

00:29:38.000 In fact, he thinks many things about women, some of them very inappropriate. 0.99

00:29:42.000 But the idea that basically the only reason he's attacking Kamala Harris is nasty is because she is a woman is absolutely and patently silly. 0.69

00:29:50.000 After Joe Biden, according to the New York Times, the presumptive Democratic nominee, announced Tuesday Harris would be his running mate, Trump wasted no time sorting her into the nasty camp, a category occupied by the last woman to run against him on a Democratic ticket. 0.94

00:30:02.000 She was extraordinarily nasty to Brett Kavanaugh. 0.98

00:30:04.000 Judge Kavanaugh then, or Justice Kavanaugh, said Trump.

00:30:09.000 That's true, though.

00:30:10.000 She was unbelievably nasty to Brett Kavanaugh.

00:30:12.000 I mean, that is a factually true statement. 0.97

00:30:14.000 What she did to him was nasty and cruel and vicious.

00:30:18.000 So how about we just leave nasty by the side?

00:30:19.000 Can we say cruel and vicious?

00:30:20.000 Because she was. 0.63

00:30:21.000 She was cruel and vicious. 0.99

00:30:23.000 She implied that a, by all accounts, good man was a rapist. 0.99

00:30:28.000 That's what she did.

00:30:29.000 And she also suggested, by way of going after him, that he was involved in some sort of unspecified corrupt scheme to skew the Mueller investigation or something.

00:30:38.000 She's a cruel human being, Kamala Harris. 1.00

00:30:40.000 I mean, she's... There are many women who are not cruel. 0.99

00:30:45.000 Kamala Harris is not one of them.

00:30:47.000 And it was nasty what she did to Brett Kavanaugh.

00:30:49.000 Nasty has a specific meaning.

00:30:50.000 It is not sexist.

00:30:53.000 But every word that is going to be used about Kamala Harris is now going to be perceived as sexist.

00:30:57.000 That's the way this works.

00:30:58.000 It's unbelievably high levels of gaslighting.

00:31:00.000 Any word you use about Kamala Harris will now be turned automatically into a racist, sexist word.

00:31:05.000 So, for example, There is a piece in Politico today essentially suggesting that if you say that Kamala Harris is phony, phony is now a sexist term.

00:31:18.000 If you say phony, then that is sexist as well.

00:31:21.000 Nasty is a particular favorite, though, of the various media outlets.

00:31:25.000 According to the Washington Post, also that word nasty is bad.

00:31:29.000 Ashley Parker writing for the Washington Post.

00:31:30.000 Again, incredible levels of journalism.

00:31:32.000 President Trump has called magazines, pharmaceutical advertisements, and questions nasty.

00:31:36.000 He's called rumors numbers, and one unnamed TV columnist who gave The Apprentice a bad review, nasty. 0.86

00:31:41.000 He has called men nasty, and he has called women nasty.

00:31:44.000 Okay, well, isn't that a pretty good indicator it ain't a sexist term? 0.53

00:31:47.000 He calls everything nasty. 0.71

00:31:48.000 He'll be like, that's a nasty pole. 1.00

00:31:50.000 Like, that's a nasty dog, like a dog. 0.98

00:31:53.000 Everything's nasty. 0.99

00:31:54.000 But if he says it about a woman, uniquely, like a focusing of a laser beam, it's sexist.

00:32:01.000 And so just hours after former VP Joe Biden announced Kamala Harris as his running mate, Trump reached for one of his favorite adjectives and dismissed the first woman of color on a major party ticket as nasty.

00:32:12.000 Speaking to reporters Tuesday, he described her activity during the questioning of Brett Kavanaugh as nasty to a level that was just a horrible thing.

00:32:18.000 True.

00:32:19.000 He said she was the meanest and most horrible in pressing Kavanaugh.

00:32:21.000 True. 0.55

00:32:22.000 He said her debate stage attacks against Biden were very, very nasty.

00:32:25.000 True.

00:32:26.000 The insult is one Trump has levied roughly equally against men and women alike since becoming president, according to Factbase, a data analytics company that tracks all of Trump's public utterances.

00:32:36.000 He did use it far more frequently during the 2016 campaign against women than men, but that's because he was running against Hillary Clinton.

00:32:42.000 But here, okay, this is unbelievable.

00:32:45.000 Man, reportorial courage right here.

00:32:47.000 The resonance of the adjective, the way the attack lands, the nuances in connotation is often different when the recipient is a woman, and different still when that woman is a person of color.

00:32:57.000 Calling a woman nasty, say many experts and women in politics, is another way to deliberately dismiss and demean female politicians. 1.00

00:33:05.000 Holy effing S. Like rea- Wow. 1.00

00:33:09.000 Wow. 0.80

00:33:09.000 So you spend the first several paragraphs acknowledging freely that Donald Trump uses the word nasty to describe everything from foot odor to toothpaste. 0.80

00:33:17.000 And then you're like, but if he uses that exact same term for this lady, suddenly, poof, it's transformed.

00:33:23.000 Voila! 1.00

00:33:23.000 Abracadabra! 1.00

00:33:23.000 It is now transformed into rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Yeah, she's a linguistic expert. 1.00

00:33:35.000 I think he's a racist and a sexist.

00:33:36.000 She's a linguistic expert. 1.00

00:33:38.000 Well, let's go to the abortion lady. 1.00

00:33:39.000 Abortion lady, what say you about President Trump? 1.00

00:33:41.000 I think he's a racist and a sexist. 0.99

00:33:43.000 Thank you, abortion lady. 1.00

00:33:44.000 Your opinion is valued here.

00:33:46.000 I love this.

00:33:47.000 Linguistics professor and fan of abortion, Stephanie Shriok, says it has really become coded language.

00:33:53.000 You are absolutely correct, Stephanie Shriok!

00:33:57.000 Our society allows for poor behavior by men, but has little acceptance for anything but perfection by women. 1.00

00:34:02.000 Yes, I am sure this is the case.

00:34:04.000 You are absolutely correct, Stephanie Shriok.

00:34:06.000 Our society allows for poor behavior by men, but has little acceptance for anything but perfection by women? 1.00

00:34:12.000 Really, I seem to remember, because I'm, again, older than a week old, I'm old enough to remember when I did a 10-minute segment mocking a song in which two women gallivanted around singing about their wet-ass P-words. 1.00

00:34:26.000 For those in media matters, I say P-words because this also appears on radio, you stupid ass. 1.00

00:34:34.000 So we'll bleep that out. 1.00

00:34:36.000 But let me just point out to you that I made fun of a song and the entire world went insane because I simply said that perhaps it is not the most ennobling aspect of femininity to spend three minutes talking about the moisture state of your genitals. 0.69

00:34:55.000 And this was considered bad taste.

00:34:57.000 This was considered as though it was an attack on women. 0.82

00:35:00.000 No, perfection is expected from women. 1.00

00:35:02.000 It's absolutely expected from women. 1.00

00:35:04.000 According to Emily Shriok, if you say nasty about a woman, then it's really different than saying nasty about a man, because perfection is expected for women. 1.00

00:35:11.000 Like, for example, you could be a former prostitute who drugged and stole money from men, and then you could rap about your vagina. 1.00

00:35:17.000 We're three minutes straight. 1.00

00:35:19.000 And this is an excellent, excellent indicator that you are a hero of the American Republic.

00:35:24.000 Not only that, there was an article in Vulture yesterday, I noticed, in which the columnist compared, I kid you not, that particular song, which is too vulgar for radio, they compared that particular song to Shakespeare by way of pornography.

00:35:40.000 Okay, that would be true if Shakespeare hit his head on a brick repeatedly and then fell headlong into a toilet.

00:35:48.000 And died. 1.00

00:35:49.000 And went to hell. 0.97

00:35:50.000 And ended up listening to a Cardi B song.

00:35:52.000 That's the only way you can connect Shakespeare to that.

00:35:54.000 But don't worry, guys.

00:35:55.000 Perfection is expected of women. 1.00

00:35:56.000 Who knew?

00:35:57.000 Who knew?

00:35:59.000 Well done, everybody.

00:36:01.000 Washington Post report- Wow.

00:36:03.000 Solid reporting.

00:36:04.000 Trump, said Shriak, knows exactly what he's doing.

00:36:08.000 Aparna Thomas, a professor of politics and gender, sexuality and women's studies.

00:36:12.000 Oh, well, she's going to be an expert too.

00:36:14.000 I mean, she is a professor of politics and gender and sexuality and women's studies. 0.99

00:36:18.000 So she's a professional useless person who makes money telling people stupid crap about gender that is not scientifically accurate. 1.00

00:36:24.000 Said the descriptor is dismissive and signifies that women are not to be taken seriously. 1.00

00:36:28.000 She said it was significant that nasty was the inaugural attack Trump hurled at Harris.

00:36:32.000 This is in the Washington Post, guys. 0.97

00:36:34.000 That's the first thing that comes to the president's mind, is that she should be dismissed and that she's a nasty woman. 1.00

00:36:38.000 We're now back to 2016, where we have a vice presidential candidate who is female and is still being judged by a different set of standards set by men. 0.97

00:36:44.000 You're damned right she's being judged by a different set of standards than men, than men, not set by men.

00:36:49.000 She's judged by a different set of standards than men.

00:36:51.000 Because you know what we would call a presidential candidate who failed so radically that he dropped out before the primaries even began?

00:36:58.000 We would call them not VP.

00:37:00.000 We would call them not VP.

00:37:01.000 Cory Booker's sitting over here crying to himself because he's a man.

00:37:05.000 Cory Booker is better qualified by leagues than Kamala Harris.

00:37:08.000 The man at least ran a city.

00:37:11.000 Okay, like, it's just, it's incredible.

00:37:13.000 It's absolutely incredible.

00:37:15.000 But, so he uses the same word, nasty, For men and women.

00:37:19.000 But if he uses it against a woman, then it's a sexist term.

00:37:21.000 Magically.

00:37:23.000 Magically.

00:37:25.000 It's just unbelievable.

00:37:27.000 Okay, so, this is solid stuff.

00:37:28.000 Really solid stuff.

00:37:29.000 Valerie Jarrett was quoted here too, because Valerie Jarrett, another unbiased source on linguistics.

00:37:33.000 The words nasty and mean are much more pejorative when directed at a woman, said Valerie Jarrett, senior advisor to former President Obama, and a board member of Time's Up, a legal defense fund for women who are victimized in the workplace, except for Tara Reid, when she accuses Joe Biden of sticking his hand up her.

00:37:46.000 There's this whole sense that women need to be likable. 1.00

00:37:48.000 And when you say they're nasty or mean, that is intended to cut them deeply.

00:37:51.000 Whereas men are not subjected to the same likability test.

00:37:53.000 Are they not now?

00:37:54.000 Really?

00:37:55.000 Men don't have to be likable? 0.91

00:37:56.000 Interesting.

00:37:57.000 Because I've been following politics for quite a long time.

00:38:00.000 So good journalisming there from the Washington Post.

00:38:02.000 We'll get to more of the journalisming.

00:38:05.000 Magnificent, magnificent journalism about Kamala Harris.

00:38:08.000 In a second plus, we'll get to President Trump and his lines of attack and the media's obvious misrepresentation of some comments that President Trump made yesterday. 0.95

00:38:17.000 Again, just to be fair, when the president says stuff that's dumb, it may be dumb, but it's not quite how the media portray it. 0.84

00:38:22.000 We'll get to that in one second first. 0.98

00:40:42.000 you're listening to the largest, fastest growing podcast and radio show in America.

00:40:46.000 Alrighty, so when the media are not just glowing over Kamala Harris and signify and suggesting that everybody who opposes Kamala Harris for any reasons is a radical sexist, they're also printing people's personal experiences with Kamala Harris.

00:41:04.000 And I will say the reactions to the Harris pic are insane on one.

00:41:08.000 Like Anna Navarro tweeted out a picture of herself cuddling her little doggie and her caption was, now that I know that Uncle Joe and Auntie Kamala are here to protect me, I feel so happy. 1.00

00:41:18.000 First of all, anytime you describe a politician as your relative, you're an idiot. 0.99

00:41:22.000 The politician is not your relative unless they're your creepy uncle who's staring at you in the shower. 1.00

00:41:25.000 Politicians are terrible. 1.00

00:41:26.000 They're awful, awful, awful. 1.00

00:41:28.000 Okay, so if you treat members of the political class as members of your family, it's because you're incredibly dumb or incredibly hopeless in your life. 1.00

00:41:35.000 But, beyond that, we also have Katie Holmes tweeted out a weird sexualized picture of herself. 0.99

00:41:42.000 Like, even the Huffington Post was like, that's weirdly sexual, Katie Holmes.

00:41:45.000 of herself in the mirror over Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

00:41:48.000 Alyssa Milano tweeted out a gif of Biden walking next to Harris with just the caption, Hope.

00:41:54.000 Guys, go to church once in a while.

00:41:55.000 Like, you know, fine.

00:41:56.000 Fill that hole in your life with something other than this nonsense.

00:41:59.000 And then you get headlines like this one from Donna Edwards, contributing columnist at the Washington Post. 0.95

00:42:04.000 I thought it didn't matter whether Joe Biden picked a black woman and then it happened.

00:42:08.000 Well, now, I mean, you have feelings.

00:42:11.000 So, because you have feelings, incredible.

00:42:14.000 Congratulations on your feelings.

00:42:16.000 Very, very important stuff that people have feelings.

00:42:18.000 Meanwhile, President Trump being subjected to the media's tender mercies.

00:42:22.000 So, President Trump is struggling a little bit for his narrative on Kamala Harris because the narrative is pretty obvious and I've suggested it before.

00:42:29.000 Joe Biden is not alive.

00:42:30.000 I didn't realize it, but this is the first time a California Democrat has been on the top of the ticket, and it's about time.

00:42:33.000 By the way, even Democrats assume he doesn't exist.

00:42:35.000 Yesterday, the California Attorney General, a man named Xavier Becerra, suggested that Harris was the top of the ticket.

00:42:41.000 Freudian slip to the extreme here from Xavier Becerra.

00:42:44.000 I didn't realize it, but this is the first time a California Democrat has been on the top of the ticket, and it's about time.

00:42:53.000 And wow, what a selection.

00:42:54.000 You're talking about a guy, Joe Biden, who had the confidence to pick one of his strongest rivals during this campaign.

00:43:02.000 Very top of the ticket.

00:43:04.000 So everybody's assuming, quietly or not quietly, that Joe Biden is not going to finish out his first term.

00:43:04.000 Okay, fine.

00:43:10.000 Everybody assumes this.

00:43:11.000 60% of the American public agree.

00:43:13.000 So Trump should just ignore Biden.

00:43:15.000 And what he should say is nothing Biden says about how he is going to be normal and he's going to protect you from the radical left.

00:43:21.000 None of that is true.

00:43:22.000 He just selected a radical leftist as his VP and he should go direct at Harris.

00:43:25.000 Instead, yesterday, he argued that both Biden and Harris are socialists.

00:43:28.000 That pitch doesn't have a lot of resonance because Biden has successfully categorized himself as not a socialist.

00:43:33.000 Here is Trump kind of mixing up the two.

00:43:37.000 You said socialism will never be in America.

00:43:40.000 America will never be a socialist country.

00:43:43.000 What are you doing to ensure that doesn't happen?

00:43:45.000 I have to win the election.

00:43:46.000 Because Kamala's a socialist. 1.00

00:43:49.000 Biden's been brought... Look, Biden, you know Biden.

00:43:51.000 He's shut.

00:43:53.000 He's been brought over.

00:43:54.000 I guess he's a socialist.

00:43:56.000 If you asked him what does socialism mean, he wouldn't give you an answer.

00:44:00.000 He has no clue.

00:44:01.000 Okay, so that line of attack isn't likely to be particularly successful because Biden is difficult to attack.

00:44:06.000 Again, you can't beat a dead horse.

00:44:07.000 But Kamala Harris is in fact a live socialist, and so you can go after her along those lines.

00:44:12.000 I mean, she's a Medicare-for-all redistributionist.

00:44:15.000 There's a lot to attack with Kamala Harris.

00:44:16.000 But yesterday, most of the focus was not really on even Trump and Kamala Harris.

00:44:20.000 The media tried to misdirect to an answer that Trump gave about suburbia.

00:44:23.000 So there is this housing and urban development policy that was pushed by the Obama administration.

00:44:27.000 We've talked about a little bit before, I believe it's called the AFFH.

00:44:30.000 It was under the HUD department.

00:44:31.000 And that policy essentially forced states and localities, particularly localities, it forced them in order to receive federal dollars to allow the federal government to basically restructure all of their zoning laws such that you were putting low-income housing in suburban areas.

00:44:46.000 Which defeats the purpose of moving out to a suburb.

00:44:48.000 If you move out to a suburb, the goal is that you wanna live in an area that doesn't have a lot of low-income housing because low-income housing typically comes along with other factors, right?

00:44:57.000 Because low income typically comes along with other factors, including, for example, crime.

00:45:00.000 That's not a racially based case in any way, right?

00:45:03.000 That is a class based case, right?

00:45:06.000 People move from Low income areas to suburbs.

00:45:09.000 This is what people have done historically in the United States.

00:45:11.000 They've been doing it for literally a century or more.

00:45:15.000 And it's been happening for a very long time in the United States.

00:45:17.000 This goes all the way back to Jews in Brooklyn, like they would be in Brooklyn, be very crowded, and eventually they would make a little more money. 0.97

00:45:22.000 They'd move out to the suburbs of New Jersey, right?

00:45:24.000 This has been going on for a long time.

00:45:25.000 It is not necessarily a racial thing.

00:45:27.000 It can be, but it is not necessarily a racial thing.

00:45:29.000 So President Trump yesterday was saying, The federal government basically restructuring neighborhoods along lines that people do not want is not correct.

00:45:37.000 And what he is trying to say here, and it's pretty obvious, what he's trying to say here is that's true for minority people who live in suburbs too.

00:45:43.000 They move out of areas.

00:45:44.000 They move to suburbs because they want to be in areas that have better public schools, for example.

00:45:48.000 They want to be in areas that have lower levels of crime.

00:45:51.000 Okay, the way he says it is awkward.

00:45:52.000 And so the media suggests that what he's really trying to do is resegregate suburbs.

00:45:55.000 It is completely not what he's saying here.

00:45:58.000 Again, the president's command of the English language is not is not, I will say, exact and meticulous, but it is pretty obvious that he's not being a racist or didn't stop the media from pushing that anyway.

00:46:07.000 What I mean is people are going to become they're going to be opening up areas of your neighborhood, which they're doing, and now they're going to do.

00:46:16.000 They wanted to expand it and they will expand it if for any reason they're going to, in my opinion, destroy suburbia.

00:46:23.000 And just so you understand, 30% plus of the people living in suburbia are minorities.

00:46:30.000 African American, Asian American, Hispanic American, they're minorities. 0.98

00:46:35.000 30%.

00:46:35.000 The number is even higher.

00:46:38.000 They say 35, but I like to cut it a little bit lower.

00:46:40.000 You know why?

00:46:41.000 That way I can never get myself in too much trouble with the fake news.

00:46:46.000 But 30% plus are minorities living in suburbia.

00:46:52.000 And when they go in and they want to change zoning so that you have lots of problems where they want to build low income housing, you want something where people can aspire to be there, not something where it gets hurt badly.

00:47:07.000 And that's what happens.

00:47:08.000 So with suburban women, suburban men, I think they feel very strongly about what I'm doing.

00:47:17.000 It's a very, I mean, it's a very fair question.

00:47:19.000 It's a very important question.

00:47:21.000 But they fought all their lives to be there.

00:47:23.000 And then all of a sudden they have something happen that changes their life and changes what they fought for, for so many years.

00:47:32.000 Okay, it is perfectly obvious that he is not being racist there, right?

00:47:35.000 He is saying that many people who live in the suburbs and have been inspiring to live in the suburbs are minorities, and that it hurts people who live in the suburbs when you artificially place low-income housing in the suburbs.

00:47:44.000 That's exactly what he is saying.

00:47:45.000 Okay, the media played this.

00:47:46.000 I'm gonna read you some of the headlines.

00:47:47.000 The media played this as though he was being a racist.

00:47:50.000 This was the big thing on Twitter yesterday.

00:47:53.000 Business Insider, Trump leans into race baiting in remarks about American suburbs.

00:47:57.000 The Hill, Trump pitches fair housing repeal to suburban housewife with racist tropes.

00:48:03.000 So get ready for it, guys.

00:48:12.000 They tried this playbook with Hillary Clinton.

00:48:19.000 Now they're going to try it with Kamala Harris. 1.00

00:48:21.000 Anything Trump does from here for the rest of the campaign is going to be racist and sexist.

00:48:26.000 And any criticism of Kamala Harris is going to be racist and sexist.

00:48:29.000 Your media will make sure that this is considered the truth.

00:48:33.000 By the way, how much do you trust your media?

00:48:35.000 I have maybe the single best case of media malpractice I've ever seen on a fact check.

00:48:40.000 Okay, so this one comes courtesy of the New York Times, and we shall conclude with this.

00:48:43.000 Okay, so listen to this.

00:48:45.000 This is pretty incredible.

00:48:46.000 You remember a few days ago, there was this story that emerged from Portland, Oregon, where Black Lives Matter protesters burned some Bibles on top of American flags.

00:48:56.000 You remember this?

00:48:57.000 They burned Bibles on top of American flags.

00:48:59.000 There was tape of it.

00:49:00.000 We played it on the show.

00:49:04.000 Here is the New York Times fact check of this.

00:49:05.000 This is why nobody trusts the media, nor should they.

00:49:07.000 Here's the New York Times fact check.

00:49:08.000 Quote, a Bible burning, a Russian news agency, and a story too good to check out.

00:49:13.000 From Matthew Rosenberg and Julian E. Barnes of the New York Times.

00:49:16.000 Quote, for some of President Trump's loudest cheerleaders, it was a story too good to check out.

00:49:20.000 Black Lives Matter protesters in Portland, Oregon had burned a stack of Bibles and then topped off the fire with American flags.

00:49:25.000 There was even a video to prove it.

00:49:26.000 The story was a near-perfect fit for a central Trump campaign talking point, that with liberals and Democrats comes godless disorder, and it went viral among Republicans within hours of appearing earlier this month.

00:49:36.000 The New York Post wrote about it.

00:49:37.000 So did the Federalists, saying the protesters had shown their true colors.

00:49:40.000 Senator Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican, said of the protesters, this is who they are.

00:49:44.000 Donald Trump Jr., the president's son, tweeted that Antifa had moved to the book-burning phase.

00:49:47.000 The truth was far more mundane.

00:49:50.000 A few protesters, among the many thousands, appear to have burned a single Bible, and possibly a second, for kindling to start a bigger fire.

00:49:57.000 None of the other protesters seem to notice or care.

00:50:01.000 Okay, so the New York Times' fact check of protesters burned Bibles is, yes, they did, but also, if you say that, you're bad and lying.

00:50:11.000 The story wasn't too good to check.

00:50:12.000 The story was true. 0.73

00:50:14.000 My favorite here is that the New York Times, like, that description is fantastic.

00:50:17.000 A few protesters among them did X. Well, you know, if it was only a few, well, then I guess they didn't do it at all.

00:50:23.000 A few is just the same as zero.

00:50:25.000 I mean, we can round down, like, three to zero, can't we?

00:50:28.000 We'll just round it down.

00:50:29.000 If it were, like, seven, you'd probably have to round it up to ten, but, like, three, we can round it down to zero.

00:50:34.000 A few protesters appear to have burned a single Bible, not more than one.

00:50:37.000 And possibly a se- Well, maybe it was more than one Bible, like everybody said.

00:50:40.000 For kindling to start a bigger fire- Guys, they weren't burning the Bible just to burn the Bible.

00:50:44.000 They were doing it to start a bigger fire that included the American flag, guys!

00:50:48.000 I mean, it was doing it for kindling!

00:50:50.000 I mean, I don't know how many times you guys have not been able to get your stove started and you have to, you know, bring a match.

00:50:54.000 You know, you light a match and then you bring it over to your gas stove, you turn on the stove and you light the match to the stove to light the fire.

00:51:01.000 I don't know about you, but when I've run out of kindling, I immediately go into my library, take out a Bible, and I just use that.

00:51:06.000 To start, it's just kindling!

00:51:07.000 Now, the best sort of kindling is Bibles, as we all know. 1.00

00:51:10.000 I mean, according to the New York Times, these people who are burning things, it wasn't that the point was to burn a Bible, it's that they were using the Bible as kindling.

00:51:16.000 The greatest kind of kindling.

00:51:17.000 You know what else makes great kindling?

00:51:19.000 American flags, motherhood, baseball, and apple pie.

00:51:21.000 These things all make incredible kindling.

00:51:24.000 Here's how the New York Times covered this.

00:51:26.000 In the rush to paint all the protesters as Bible-burning zealots, few of the politicians or commentators who weighed in on the incident took the time to look into the story's veracity, or to figure out that it had originated with a Kremlin-backed video news agency.

00:51:37.000 Now, days later, the Portland Bible-burnings appear to be one of the first viral Russian disinformation hits of the 2020 presidential campaign.

00:51:46.000 It's real video of a thing that actually happened.

00:51:48.000 And the New York Times is like, well, I mean, it kind of happened, but it was mostly for kindling and also Russians.

00:51:54.000 Russians everywhere.

00:51:55.000 Under my bed, there are Russians. 1.00

00:51:56.000 And if you retweeted a video and it came from a Russian, even if the video is true, it came from the Russkies, the Russkies.

00:52:03.000 It can't be real.

00:52:05.000 I'm very much looking forward to everything bad for Democrats and protesters being categorized as Russian propaganda.

00:52:10.000 That's going to be very, very exciting.

00:52:12.000 And continuing to really burnish the reputation of the New York Times here.

00:52:18.000 With Election Day drawing closer, says the New York Times, the Russian efforts to influence the vote appear to be well underway.

00:52:22.000 American intelligence officials said last week Russia was using a range of techniques to denigrate Democrats and their presumptive presidential nominee, Joe Biden.

00:52:30.000 By the way, how's that New York Times coverage been on that same exact intelligence report suggesting that China was doing the same thing on behalf of Joe Biden and Iran was doing the same thing on behalf of Joe Biden?

00:52:39.000 Doesn't exist.

00:52:40.000 None.

00:52:41.000 Zero.

00:52:42.000 The Russian technique is a kind of information laundering akin to money laundering.

00:52:45.000 Stories originate with Russian-backed news sites, some of them directly connected to Moscow's spy agencies. 0.96

00:52:50.000 Officials and experts said, this is QAnon kind of crap, honestly. 0.98

00:52:52.000 Like, this is just conspiracy theory garbage pushed by the New York Times to gaslight you. 0.99

00:52:58.000 Because it turns out that a video that was accurate came from a Russian news source. 0.88

00:53:03.000 It's an accurate video!

00:53:05.000 It's accurate!

00:53:07.000 The video on which the story is based came from Ruppley, which regularly streams a live feed from the protests for a few hours each night, and then clips together a short video of highlights.

00:53:16.000 The live stream and the clip, later edited down by Ruppley, shows at least one Bible burning after midnight on August 1st, as some protesters were trying to build a fire.

00:53:23.000 Again, I love the narrative here from the New York Times.

00:53:26.000 They were using the Bible to build a fire, guys. 0.99

00:53:28.000 That means they weren't burning the Bible.

00:53:30.000 I mean, they were using it to build a fire.

00:53:33.000 Again, when I go to the matchbook that I have in the side drawer that's filled with all the extra keys and all that crap, when I go in there, I don't just keep the matches there.

00:53:41.000 I keep a Bible, just to make sure that I can get the fire started.

00:53:44.000 A small crowd can be seen hanging around.

00:53:45.000 Some of the people watching the flames grow higher.

00:53:47.000 The scene looks and sounds as if it is far from the main action of the protest.

00:53:50.000 So good, good journalism in here.

00:53:52.000 They just, it sounds like it.

00:53:53.000 It sounds like, did you investigate?

00:53:55.000 Nope.

00:53:56.000 The Bible appears to be used as kindling by two protesters working on the fire.

00:53:59.000 There's no discernible reaction from the crowd as the book is put in the flames along with twigs and branches, notebook pages and newspapers.

00:54:05.000 The crowd does cheer when an American flag is thrown on the flames.

00:54:09.000 So yeah, that sort of undermines your case a little bit.

00:54:12.000 But then people on Twitter started to repeat it.

00:54:16.000 And then because people on Twitter started to repeat it, then it became a story.

00:54:20.000 And this is all about the GRU and Russia today.

00:54:24.000 God bless it.

00:54:25.000 The New York Times.

00:54:27.000 The Democracy Dies in Darkness media.

00:54:29.000 They are just amazing at their jobs.

00:54:32.000 They are amazing at their jobs.

00:54:33.000 Alrighty, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.

00:54:36.000 Also, become an All Access member and you can hang out with me.

00:54:38.000 This evening we'll discuss my book.

00:54:39.000 Perhaps I'll read to you rap lyrics with classical music as background.

00:54:43.000 It's something that we used to do on the show a lot more often.

00:54:45.000 So, maybe we'll do that again because it's always hilarious.

00:54:48.000 Otherwise, we'll see you here tomorrow.
