00:00:00.000 Okay, well, speaking of social issues, there is a woman whose name is Sophia Franklin. 0.99
00:00:05.000 She used to be famous. 0.98
00:00:06.000 She was the other half of the Call Her Daddy podcast when it was with Dave Portnoy's Barstool.
00:00:12.000 Well, now she is back and she has written a book.
00:00:16.000 God love us.
00:00:17.000 And it has been excerpted by Vanity Fair.
00:00:20.000 In her book, Daddy Issues, she publicly recounts having an abortion in 2023 after her departure from Call Her Daddy.
00:00:27.000 And it's worth going through what she says at length because it says something about the moral language that we now lack because we have emptied out.
00:00:34.000 The reality of life for the vast majority of people in the United States.
00:00:39.000 Again, it turns out that men and women were made for each other.
00:00:42.000 And it turns out that man, woman, baby is the natural state of humanity.
00:00:46.000 When you break all of those bonds, what you end up with is people who are deeply confused and they don't even have the language to speak to their own spiritual lack.
00:00:54.000 That's what is happening here with Sophia Franklin.
00:00:57.000 So here's what she says There's no right way to talk about this.
00:01:01.000 I share a lot in this book, but this is hard for me to say even now.
00:01:03.000 Having an abortion isn't like having a public scandal, nor is writing about it.
00:01:07.000 I can usually reconcile the dark corners of my past, but my feelings around my abortion are in many ways still pending.
00:01:12.000 And frankly, it still feels very wrong to share publicly.
00:01:14.000 But I hope putting myself out there will free me from the self imposed exile and shame.
00:01:19.000 So she's going to talk publicly about her abortion in order so that she feels better, which again is a very strange thing to do.
00:01:25.000 Quote When you have an abortion, the take home packet gives you explicit instructions on what to do if you bleed through two pads per hour.
00:01:32.000 But nowhere does it include guidance on the emotional bleep that's to come.
00:01:35.000 Well, I mean, some of us have been warning about that.
00:01:39.000 But even the cause of the emotional response to abortion cannot be acknowledged by Sophia Franklin or anyone else on the left.
00:01:46.000 The reason that a lot of women experience emotional turmoil in the aftermath of an abortion is because there is something that you do spiritually when you decide to terminate your own child.
00:01:54.000 There's an actual spiritual cost to that thing.
00:01:56.000 And because we don't talk about that, because we as a society have decided to pretend that nothing actually happens except the removal of a polyp, no woman has ever had an emotional response to the removal of a polyp.
00:02:05.000 It doesn't work that way.
00:02:07.000 And yet we've been told that essentially the termination of an unborn child. Is the same thing as the removal of a polyp, and it should bother you just about as much.
00:02:15.000 But that's not how it works.
00:02:16.000 And so when you have an emotional response to something that very clearly deserves a significant emotional response, you don't know where to put it.
00:02:22.000 And that's kind of the story here.
00:02:24.000 In the same way that the Cornell 7 girl who consented to being degraded, that's what happened in the Cornell 7 case.
00:02:31.000 There was a girl who openly consented to what she called herself a gangbang, degraded herself, degraded her soul, sullied herself, sullied her character.
00:02:41.000 She didn't know where to put it.
00:02:42.000 All of those feelings, and so she put them into an accusation of rape that is un evidenced.
00:02:47.000 The same thing happens here with regard to abortion.
00:02:49.000 People do this, many of them feel terrible about it, and then they don't know where to put all of that.
00:02:56.000 She says, I took the pills at home, and weeks later, I couldn't recognize myself in the mirror, physically or mentally, and I couldn't figure out why.
00:03:01.000 I felt crazy.
00:03:03.000 I later learned there is a physiological, hormonal, neurological chain reaction that occurs.
00:03:07.000 No one prepares you for that part.
00:03:10.000 At that time, all I have are Reddit threads and an offhanded comment my friend made to check my hormones months after.
00:03:14.000 Getting some answers, no matter how disparate, Made it less scary.
00:03:17.000 So again, what she was experiencing is almost certainly a spiritual malady because when you do something that has real spiritual impact on yourself, moral impact on yourself, you experience something on the other side of that.
00:03:28.000 But instead, channel it into talk about physiological and hormonal and neurological chains.
00:03:34.000 Now, again, that is engaging in a sort of bizarre dualism that is not real, meaning that when I say that you've had a spiritual problem, that will manifest as brain function, obviously, because the way that your spirit Interact with your physicality is via the brain.
00:03:49.000 I mean, that is the way that it works.
00:03:52.000 And there's not kind of like a ghost in the machine, so to speak.
00:03:55.000 The ghosts in the machine are the same thing.
00:03:57.000 But to treat all of this as a physiological problem as opposed to a moral or ethical or spiritual problem is the category error.
00:04:05.000 And you have to do it because you refuse to acknowledge that what you actually did was something that is morally questionable, morally difficult, morally problematic.
00:04:13.000 Quote, daddy issues is fundamentally a story about being a girl, about being a girl in the world.
00:04:18.000 And I wrote this chapter because I want women to feel less insane, less alone.
00:04:22.000 I want women to know that other women are having abortions.
00:04:24.000 They're not just talking about it. 1.00
00:04:25.000 We aren't supposed to.
00:04:26.000 Okay.
00:04:26.000 So again, that's not true.
00:04:29.000 We're at the tail end of the shout your abortion era in female politics. 1.00
00:04:33.000 We went from safe, legal, and rare to shout your abortion to I had an abortion.
00:04:39.000 I'm going to tell you about it because it made me feel bad.
00:04:42.000 But we can't discuss the actual spiritual impact of the abortion.
00:04:45.000 We can't discuss the moral aspect of abortion.
00:04:47.000 And we certainly can't talk about the unborn child in this circumstance.
00:04:51.000 Again, I feel terrible for her in the sense that she's been lied to and now she doesn't know what to do with those feelings.
00:04:56.000 Women for generations in the United States have been lied to and told that there is no value to. 0.60
00:05:01.000 A human being with potential.
00:05:03.000 Again, if you're told it's a polyp and then you react in a way that says it's not a polyp and you don't know what to do with that, you were lied to.
00:05:09.000 But perpetuating the lie is not the solution, obviously.
00:05:11.000 You're not going to do anything more important today than helping to save a life.
00:05:15.000 That's what preborn does every single day. 1.00
00:05:16.000 So a lot of women, and they don't know what to do. 0.99
00:05:18.000 They get pregnant and they go into some sort of clinic, and that clinic is not a preborn clinic.
00:05:23.000 And instead of being offered an ultrasound and more information and knowledge, they're just told, hey, terminate the pregnancy.
00:05:28.000 Your life's going to be awesome.
00:05:29.000 And that's not true.
00:05:30.000 It's not true.
00:05:31.000 Through the ministry of preborn, which makes sure that women get ultrasounds, More than 50,000 babies have been saved this year alone.
00:05:37.000 Well, now, preborn wants to help rescue 50,000 more babies.
00:05:40.000 Just 28 bucks sponsors an ultrasound and can help save a baby's life to give.
00:05:44.000 Dial pound 250, say keyword baby.
00:05:46.000 That's pound 250, baby.
00:05:48.000 We've been working with preborn for years, helping to save lives.
00:05:51.000 You should go help them out right now.
00:05:53.000 Again, no better cause on planet Earth than helping a woman make the best possible decision about her baby, which is to have that baby and give that baby the gift of life.
00:06:02.000 Donate securely at preborn.comslash Ben.
00:06:05.000 That's preborn.comslash Ben.
00:06:07.000 All gifts are tax deductible.
00:06:08.000 Again, you can give by dialing pound two fifty and saying keyword baby or donate securely at preborn.com.
00:06:15.000 She talks about her depression that followed hard on her new show, Sophia with an F, that initially did really well.
00:06:23.000 I lost my virality.
00:06:24.000 We trend down from number one, an impossible standard to maintain for everyone but Alex Cooper's new call her daddy. 0.85
00:06:30.000 She talks about Alex Cooper, who again went on to do this terrible, toxic, feminine show called Call Her Daddy, which we've talked about on the show before.
00:06:36.000 Sophia Franklin says, Alex follows her the truth about call her daddy video with an episode called The Funeral, a 50 minute plus monologue on all the reasons I'm the greedy, lazy, male centered puppet she's made me out to be.
00:06:46.000 Any creative muscle I still have is paralyzed by the unshakable notion that everyone hates me.
00:06:50.000 I'm starting to hate myself just as much.
00:06:52.000 I don't want to create.
00:06:53.000 I don't want to do anything at all. 0.87
00:06:54.000 Sometimes I'm able to craft a skeleton of a segment on my notes app, but as soon as it's time to press record and speak it out loud, anything I thought was interesting or worthwhile now seems dumb and empty.
00:07:03.000 Up in the literal clouds on the 57th floor in my apartment, I get a ping that a comment I made.
00:07:07.000 On a podcast made it to Fox News, quote, I've asked the last three dudes I've dated for their bank account info on the first date.
00:07:12.000 I think I have every effing right to be like, hi, are we on the same level or am I wasting my time?
00:07:16.000 This is how I sound now cold and bitter yet still provocative or at least trying to be.
00:07:20.000 There's a disconnect happening disconnect from my life, disconnect from my show, disconnect from myself.
00:07:25.000 I'm so used to being misunderstood that I let it rock, but I won't accept defeat, so I dissociate.
00:07:28.000 That's the playbook now.
00:07:30.000 I interview guests I don't care about, say things for clickbait, flirt with AZ list personalities to score a collab.
00:07:35.000 I hire a talent booking agency that charges 60 grand for a six month retainer to get celebrities on my podcast.
00:07:41.000 Living dissociated is like walking through the world half asleep. 1.00
00:07:43.000 So she has a meaningless life because all she's been doing is promoting this toxically feminine view of the world in which women don't need men, in which men are to be used as tools, in which babies don't exist. 1.00
00:07:55.000 Or if they do exist, you're basically supposed to get rid of them so you can take a trip to Italy, which is what she does. 0.99
00:07:59.000 Quote I let my boyfriend Aiden baby me.
00:08:02.000 He holds my hand through this half life, a boy to my physical self company without making me confront my past, my direction, or anything really at all.
00:08:09.000 You know what you would call a partner who helps you confront the things in your life?
00:08:13.000 You might call that partner a husband.
00:08:16.000 Yeah, the same thing for men and wives.
00:08:18.000 One of the best phrases in the book of Genesis, there are a lot of them, is the idea that a woman to a man is supposed to be azer kenegdos, the way it's described in the Bible in the original Hebrew. 0.72
00:08:28.000 That means a helper against him. 0.78
00:08:30.000 That's what she's asking for a helper against her, right?
00:08:32.000 Somebody to be a life partner.
00:08:34.000 And because she's not looking for it, she doesn't find it.
00:08:36.000 She goes and takes the abortion pill. 0.77
00:08:39.000 She pees on a stick to prove she's not pregnant.
00:08:43.000 And then he finds out she is pregnant, and then he just disappears from the story.
00:08:48.000 Quote, I get to Planned Parenthood five minutes before they open and say bye to Aiden.
00:08:52.000 No visitors allowed.
00:08:53.000 After an hour in the initial waiting room, a nurse takes me to a room where she draws my blood and hands me a cup for my urine sample, which confirms the pregnancy.
00:08:59.000 Okay, can I get an abortion?
00:09:01.000 I ask, genuinely not knowing what comes next.
00:09:03.000 Yes, we'll talk about all your options and schedule it probably sometime next week.
00:09:06.000 I have to get it now, I say.
00:09:07.000 I'm leaving for Europe in two days.
00:09:09.000 They're able to squeeze me in the following morning at 10 a.m. while my mom and brother are on a flight to New York, the first stop in an incredible non refundable family only trip to the Amalfi Coast for my birthday.
00:09:18.000 It was very important that she get her abortion before she went to Positano.
00:09:23.000 When I finally tell my mom, she says, once a 21 year old pregnant with me, I feel guilty for being 30 and getting rid of it within 48 hours.
00:09:29.000 I think about the so called life I'm protecting by not having a baby, the partying, the numbing, the running. 0.79
00:09:34.000 How can I bring new life into the world when I don't live a life worth keeping myself?
00:09:37.000 Again, the backwardness of a life that has been deprived of its moral content is so evident in this quote.
00:09:43.000 How can I have a baby when I haven't created the life worth keeping myself?
00:09:47.000 Is it possible the baby is the life worth keeping yourself?
00:09:50.000 Is it possible all your priorities are screwed up and that's why you feel empty?
00:09:53.000 That actually, maybe you should have married your boyfriend.
00:09:55.000 Maybe you should have had the baby.
00:09:56.000 And that itself would have been the life worth keeping yourself.
00:10:00.000 That it's a lot more valuable than taking selfies of yourself in Positano.
00:10:04.000 That actually, what you should have done here is married your boyfriend, stayed pregnant, had the baby, and gone to Positano.
00:10:10.000 You could have done all of those things.
00:10:12.000 But apparently, you're not going to do any of them.
00:10:14.000 Again, because you've been sold a bill of goods. 1.00
00:10:16.000 And then just passing that bill of goods on to the next generation, that's the toxically feminine way. 1.00
00:10:21.000 She says that. 1.00
00:10:24.000 You know, she was actually taking pictures on behalf of a new brand while she was doing this, which is the real reason that she did this.
00:10:30.000 She says, It has become impossibly clear to me how much Alex has eclipsed me the riches, the Forbes cover, the refined beauty, the celebrity guests, the skims campaign that keeps popping up when I'm mid bedtime routine, the Mew Mew flats, the husband, the Pinterest perfect wedding covered by Vogue, the breeded dogs.
00:10:42.000 Her hiring Bella Hadid's stylist irks me the most for whatever reason.
00:10:46.000 She's entirely surpassed our history, a mere blip on the timeline of her meteoric rise. 0.54
00:10:49.000 I know I can't compete with her anymore.
00:10:51.000 There's no chance of getting ahead.
00:10:52.000 It's such a relief.
00:10:53.000 But why would you want to get ahead of Alex Cooper?
00:10:55.000 Alex Cooper has provided misery to millions of people.
00:10:58.000 Every episode is a new episode of misery.
00:11:01.000 Why don't you just try something different?
00:11:03.000 Truly.
00:11:04.000 Why don't you live the moral life you were supposed to lead?
00:11:09.000 Why don't you reckon with the fact that maybe the thing that you were feeling in the aftermath of the abortion was a mourning, not only for the life that you should be leading, but a mourning for the thing that you lost?
00:11:19.000 You want to have an honest conversation?
00:11:21.000 That would be an honest conversation, not the conversation about how you had hormonal changes after you took some form of abortion pill or something.
00:11:29.000 What an amazing video you just watched!
00:11:31.000 Wasn't that amazing?
