00:00:00.000 JD Vance, vice president, appeared on Bill Maher's show, and Maher went after him on the issue of immigration.
00:00:07.000 We like it that you closed the border.
00:00:09.000 That needed to be done.
00:00:10.000 The people who are here, the way you treated I'm talking about your administration.
00:00:15.000 You weren't out there yourself, but ICE, all that too rough, too mean, too unnecessary.
00:00:22.000 I think you've got, I'm not telling you what to do, okay?
00:00:25.000 I'm just giving you some advice as a friend, okay?
00:00:27.000 And I'm not, I am.
00:00:29.000 And I'm not saying, I'm not asking you to apologize if I don't like when people do that.
00:00:33.000 I'm just saying, you go a long way toward getting people who are just completely shut the door to you and your ministry if you would just own that, that you guys went too far.
00:00:43.000 You went too far, and you should own it like you did childless cat ladies.
00:00:49.000 Okay, well, obviously, the vice president wasn't going to do that.
00:00:52.000 It will be interesting to see how Republicans handle the issue of immigration, particularly domestically, given the fact that Hispanic voters have been moving very, very strongly against the administration in virtually every poll since the election.
00:01:05.000 It was the radicalism of the left that drove Hispanics into the arms of the right.
00:01:09.000 It'll be interesting to see how the handling of domestic immigration issues has affected that in terms of the polling going forward into 2028.
00:01:17.000 Now, the good news for Republicans is that Democrats continue to embrace the most radical possible answers and rhetoric with regard to immigration.
00:01:25.000 Bernie Sanders' solution is we ought to legalize everybody.
00:01:31.000 And when we look at the immigration crisis in this country, we know the answer is not breaking down doors.
00:01:38.000 And throwing decent people out of this country.
00:01:41.000 It is comprehensive immigration reform and a path toward citizenship.
00:01:48.000 He just means amnesty, obviously.
00:01:49.000 So, again, if it's going to come down to too mean in the deportations versus amnesty, the American people will go with probably too mean in deportations.
00:01:57.000 Meanwhile, controversy breaks out inside the Republican Party over immigration.
00:02:02.000 The Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Mark Wayne Mullen, he was talking at length on CNN about.
00:02:11.000 TPS recipients from Haiti, right?
00:02:15.000 There was a decision by the Supreme Court late last week that decided that if, in fact, you are on TPS from Haiti, the administration can revoke that.
00:02:25.000 He was asked by Jake Tapper about the idea that Haiti is somehow safe.
00:02:29.000 And he says, well, I mean, when we have a trip, cause there's a travel advisory.
00:02:32.000 If you're an American, it's like whatever is the highest travel advisory.
00:02:36.000 We tell Americans not to go there.
00:02:37.000 He says, listen, we're talking about for Americans, not for Haitians.
00:02:39.000 It's not the greatest argument.
00:02:42.000 Do not travel is not for Haitians.
00:02:44.000 That's do not travel for the United States because they are kidnapping or trying to kidnap individuals from the United States because they feel like their family has the money to pay the ransom.
00:02:55.000 We have do not travel in places in Mexico or advisory warnings.
00:03:00.000 In fact, if you go through our website in the State Department, you'll see there's advisories to a lot of places that are vacation destinations that we have advisories on because of the real risk to Americans.
00:03:12.000 That doesn't mean it's a risk.
00:03:13.000 To the individuals that live there.
00:03:15.000 So that advisory is to American citizens traveling to Haiti, not Haitians going back home.
00:03:24.000 Yeah, that's not an amazing argument.
00:03:26.000 What's even worse is that Mellon then went on to talk about what should happen for Haitians on CBS.
00:03:33.000 Keep in mind, a lot of these individuals haven't been here 18 months.
00:03:36.000 They've been here 18 years.
00:03:37.000 Some of them have been here 20 years, 30 years.
00:03:40.000 They've had plenty of time to reestablish their status inside the United States.
00:03:45.000 They've just chose not to.
00:03:46.000 Then there's some that has been here.
00:03:48.000 Underneath the Biden administration that took advantage of an open border.
00:03:52.000 And those individuals didn't really come over here because they needed protective status.
00:03:55.000 They came over here because they were taking advantage of a weak leadership.
00:03:59.000 So, what we want, and the president has made this very clear those that are coming to this country legally, they need to be able to contribute to the United States, not be a burden on the taxpayers.
00:04:13.000 And so, we are continuing looking at our temporary protective status.
00:04:19.000 Those individuals that do need assistance because of the country they're in, we're always looking at them.
00:04:26.000 There isn't a more generous country in the world than the United States, but we don't want people to take advantage of it.
00:04:34.000 So he was ripped up and down for the implication that people on TPS can seek legal status.
00:04:40.000 Well, what he's really saying there, obviously, is if you want to come the legal way, then you can seek legal status.
00:04:44.000 The DHS put out a statement this morning We'll help assist you in leaving if you would like.
00:04:48.000 We'll buy you an airline ticket, give you 2,600 bucks to reestablish yourself someplace else.
00:04:51.000 If you don't want to go back to the country you came from, but you have to leave, if you choose not to, we'll pick you up and force you to leave.
00:04:57.000 So the administration is not backing off of any of that.
00:05:01.000 Very interesting sort of politics here because, yes, The United States has far too many people who have overstayed CPS.
00:05:08.000 And yes, the administration is correct to want to eject people who do not add to the body politic of the United States.
00:05:14.000 The question is how many ugly pictures Americans can stand on their TV?
00:05:17.000 That is always and forever the only question in American politics.
00:05:20.000 Coming up, we'll get to why the left hates America oh so much and what they want to replace the American flag with.
00:05:26.000 First, last week I sat down with Medal of Honor recipient Clint Romache.
00:05:30.000 One thing that always stands out after conversations like that is this the people who have served this country.
00:05:35.000 They don't talk about themselves as heroes.
00:05:37.000 They talk about duty and about the people beside them, about doing the job that needed to be done.
00:05:40.000 As America approaches its 250th birthday, it's worth remembering our country's story isn't just about documents and speeches.
00:05:46.000 It's about the generations of Americans who answered that call when freedom depended on them.
00:05:50.000 When those men and women come home, our responsibility as fellow Americans does not end, which is why I'm proud that Pure Talk is partnering with America's Warrior Partnership to raise $250,000 for veterans.
00:06:01.000 America's Warrior Partnership is on the front lines of preventing veteran suicide by helping veterans access housing, transportation counseling, VA benefits, and other essential services.
00:06:09.000 They provide practical support that helps veterans build stable, successful lives after service.
00:06:13.000 When you switch your cell phone service to Pure Talk this month, you'll have the opportunity to round up your bill in support of America's Warrior Partnership.
00:06:19.000 Pure Talk will match donations until they reach $250,000.
00:06:22.000 You'll also get a limited talk, unlimited text, and unlimited high-speed data for just $34.99 a month.
00:06:27.000 That's a fraction of what the major carriers charge.
00:06:29.000 Head on over to puretalk.com slash Shapiro.
00:06:31.000 Make the switch to Pure Talk again.
00:06:33.000 That's puretalk.com slash Shapiro.
00:06:35.000 Make the switch to my wireless company, America's wireless company, Pure Talk.
00:06:39.000 Patriotism isn't just something you feel on the 4th of July.
00:06:42.000 It's how you choose to support the people who have served this country when they come home.
00:06:46.000 You know, a lot of people are wondering why do so many people care about immigration?
00:06:49.000 I mean, the border is closed.
00:06:50.000 You hear that from Bill Maher a little bit earlier.
00:06:52.000 But there's a brand new Federal Reserve working paper, according to Fox News, and it finds that the record surge in illegal immigration during the Biden administration came at a cost to one of the nation's fiercest political debates, higher home prices, and also rent rates.
00:07:05.000 The new report says that basically the gigantic wave of illegal migration.
00:07:10.000 Meant a shortage in housing supply, which again is not a gigantic shock.
00:07:14.000 Over time, obviously, you'll have more houses built, but when you have people who are filling homes and they're not here legally, that is higher demand and same supply, that means higher prices.
00:07:23.000 The researchers found that illegal immigrant worker inflows increased local employment approximately one for one, meaning a 1% increase in unauthorized workers relative to a local area's workforce, corresponded with a roughly 1% increase in overall employment.
00:07:36.000 So they say that it increased employment and that it lowered average wages.
00:07:41.000 They found no evidence the immigration surge lowered average wages.
00:07:45.000 However, that meant increasing housing demand.
00:07:47.000 Again, none of that is particularly surprising.
00:07:49.000 People came in, they filled jobs, more jobs were created, fine.
00:07:52.000 But it also meant that you were adding a bunch of people who are seeking housing to the nation's crowd of people seeking housing.
00:08:00.000 So local home prices were up by about 2.2%, rents by roughly 1.4%, and new housing construction lagged.
00:08:09.000 So, again, there are a lot of kind of spillover effects to immigration.
00:08:12.000 Obviously, some are cultural.
00:08:13.000 That's what a lot of people are worried about with regard to, say, Haitian migration or Somali migration.
00:08:17.000 Some of those spillover effects are economic in terms of welfare dependency and reliance on government funding.
00:08:22.000 And some just come in terms of Additional demand for a product like housing that is already in short supply, or additional demand for health care that is in short supply.
00:08:33.000 This Federal Reserve study, again, lends some credence to the idea that illegal immigration tends to drive up rents and tends also to drive down housing supply.
00:08:41.000 Again, none of that is particularly shocking, but it's another reason why affordability is, in fact, in some ways tied to illegal immigration.
00:08:47.000 What an amazing video you just watched.
00:08:49.000 Wasn't that amazing?
