00:00:00.000 Huge announcement yesterday.
00:00:02.000 Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez no longer so fresh, no longer so face.
00:00:05.000 But now the heir apparent to Bernie Sanders announced she was running for president in 2028.
00:00:10.000 She did so not by announcing formally, but by doing two things.
00:00:14.000 One, she broadcast freezing her eggs on Instagram.
00:00:18.000 I know we'll get into it.
00:00:19.000 And two, she laughed off woke one, woke 1.0, like it was all no biggie.
00:00:24.000 You know, not a big deal.
00:00:26.000 Welcome to the 2028 Democratic presidential campaign where biology is an obstacle to your happiness.
00:00:31.000 And we're substituting third worldism for woke 1.0.
00:00:34.000 We'll get into what the hell AOC is doing, what two is.
00:00:38.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:47.000 So, yesterday, Representative Alexander Ocasio Cortez of New York announced her run for the presidency.
00:00:51.000 Now, you'll remember that basically she's only in Congress because she won a primary against Joe Crowley.
00:00:55.000 She, of course, is one of the bluest districts in America, but she has wooed Bernie Sanders for the past several years, and she is indeed his heir apparent.
00:01:03.000 Well, yesterday, she basically announced for the presidency.
00:01:07.000 She didn't do so by coming out and saying she's forming an exploratory committee or anything, but she did two critical things that shows she wants to run.
00:01:13.000 One, she announced, first off, that she would be indefinitely delaying her reproduction by freezing her eggs.
00:01:19.000 And then she went on national TV and explained all that, and also explained that woke 1.0 just went a little too far.
00:01:26.000 It was a little cray.
00:01:27.000 It was a little crazy.
00:01:28.000 So let's start at the beginning with the public and very weird announcement that she was freezing her eggs.
00:01:31.000 And yes, we're allowed to say it's weird.
00:01:34.000 Okay, it is.
00:01:35.000 You freezing your eggs, that is your decision.
00:01:37.000 Obviously, we live in a country in which this is not against the law.
00:01:40.000 But you deciding to insta your egg freezing is a weird thing, is it not?
00:01:46.000 Here she was explaining that this was all just a choice, you see, a choice to feel more in control and feel empowered.
00:01:54.000 So, I'm aware that just by me choosing to not keep this private, there may be a consequence.
00:02:03.000 But you know what?
00:02:05.000 I'm okay with that.
00:02:07.000 This is a choice that I am making to feel more in control of my life.
00:02:16.000 And if people want to make assumptions about my decision, Let them make those assumptions.
00:02:27.000 I feel empowered to make this choice.
00:02:31.000 I think it's a very privileged position that I've been able to make.
00:02:40.000 That's bait.
00:02:42.000 Now we're going to take the bait because we're going to explain what the hell she's doing, but that's clearly bait, right?
00:02:45.000 This is all girl bossing.
00:02:47.000 Real girl bossing is when you inject yourself with hormones on Instagram Live to start a process that will cost legitimately tens of thousands of dollars.
00:02:55.000 To take control of your own life because biology is unfair and mean.
00:03:00.000 And if a man comments, then that is because he is sexist in some way.
00:03:05.000 Now, again, she's the one who chose to make this public.
00:03:07.000 Okay, it's an obvious trap, and this is the game that she is playing.
00:03:11.000 That's the game, right?
00:03:12.000 The game is to post that, wait for people to comment on it, and then claim that they're sexist for commenting on it.
00:03:17.000 We all know the game.
00:03:18.000 It's a really stupid game, but she's also doing it publicly because, again, she is saying something kind of important about American society.
00:03:26.000 So, again, she injected herself with hormones on Instagram Live for the egg freezing.
00:03:31.000 Again, people do this privately.
00:03:33.000 Why are you doing this in front of millions of people?
00:03:36.000 Maybe I should start an ASMR egg freezing channel.
00:03:42.000 I think they banned those on YouTube.
00:03:47.000 So much fun!
00:03:54.000 Wow, so much fun to live from your medical procedures.
00:04:04.000 All right.
00:04:06.000 Yeah, well, she doesn't have to do this for medical reasons.
00:04:08.000 She doesn't.
00:04:09.000 Don't be weird about this.
00:04:12.000 She's not being driven by infertility.
00:04:14.000 Even though I know all of you will be.
00:04:15.000 Don't be weird about this.
00:04:16.000 You're being weird about this.
00:04:17.000 Why are you talking to me?
00:04:18.000 Why am I watching this?
00:04:20.000 This is not, this is none of my business.
00:04:21.000 Why are you doing this?
00:04:23.000 We're being, you're being weird about this, lady.
00:04:25.000 This is weird.
00:04:26.000 Okay, you're being weird.
00:04:28.000 You're live streaming medical procedures on Instagram.
00:04:31.000 You're being weird.
00:04:33.000 Are we allowed to say you're being weird?
00:04:34.000 You're being weird, okay?
00:04:35.000 This is being weird.
00:04:37.000 This is how she announces her presidential run.
00:04:38.000 That's what she is doing.
00:04:40.000 And then she suggested that this is all because of men, you see, because men run for office and people don't wonder if they want to.
00:04:47.000 Well, number one, most men running for office, like higher office, already have a family because they're mostly in their 40s and they've married for a while and they have families.
00:04:56.000 JD Vance has four children.
00:04:58.000 That is the person presumably she would be running against.
00:05:02.000 Most men, again, also, like if they have families, they have families.
00:05:06.000 If they don't, they don't.
00:05:07.000 There are some women who don't have kids.
00:05:09.000 If they don't, they don't.
00:05:11.000 Again, turning this into an aspect of girl bossing is a weird move.
00:05:14.000 It's weird.
00:05:15.000 Here we go.
00:05:18.000 But this is just not something that men deal with.
00:05:23.000 You know, men run for office, or frankly, they interview for jobs, and people don't think in the back of their mind, okay, this guy's running for office.
00:05:36.000 How old is he?
00:05:37.000 Oh, well, is he going to want to start a family?
00:05:42.000 Or.
00:05:45.000 Is he even, or if he does or if he doesn't, has he made a choice?
00:05:49.000 You know, people don't go down those rabbit holes and fixate on them for men in terms of their decision the way that they do for women.
00:05:59.000 Well, I mean, it's not a fixation.
00:06:02.000 I mean, like women work differently than men.
00:06:05.000 Nobody is asking whether a man is going to get pregnant during his campaign because men, contrary to the left, cannot get pregnant.
00:06:11.000 Now, again, I don't have a problem if she wants to get pregnant during her campaign, she can.
00:06:14.000 My wife did full on medical residency, multiple years of it.
00:06:18.000 While being pregnant, we had full on three children while she was in medical training and then medical residency.
00:06:27.000 And she took some breaks, but like you can do those things.
00:06:29.000 And by the way, the number one feminist thing she could do if she really wanted to be totally feminist is she would run for president and she would be pregnant at the same time because then she could say, okay, why are you bothering me just because I'm pregnant?
00:06:39.000 Why is that a problem?
00:06:41.000 Okay, right now she is rapidly rising, by the way, in the CalShe odds.
00:06:44.000 CalShe is one of our sponsors.
00:06:46.000 And right now she is ranked number two in the Democratic presidential lineup by CalShe.
00:06:52.000 15% of people believe she will be the nominee.
00:06:54.000 Gavin Newsom has been rapidly declining all the way down from the mid 30s all the way down to about 17%.
00:06:59.000 John Ossoff is up slightly, but John Ossoff is a flash in the pan.
00:07:02.000 AOC's candidacy is very real.
00:07:04.000 Alrighty, coming up.
00:07:05.000 AOC is creating a trap here.
00:07:07.000 You're not supposed to talk about the thing she's talking about publicly.
00:07:10.000 She does a weird thing on video, but if you talk about it, that means that you're the bad guy.
00:07:14.000 It's you.
00:07:15.000 You're the problem.
00:07:15.000 I'll tell you what's the problem for me lately.
00:07:17.000 The problem for me is I can't get a lot of sleep because we got a newborn.
00:07:20.000 And right now, I'm kind of sleeping on the floor of my kid's room because You know, my wife's up all hours of the night feeding the newborn and all the rest of that sort of stuff.
00:07:28.000 I will tell you what I miss most.
00:07:29.000 I miss, not only obviously my wife, but I miss sleeping on my Helix sleep mattress because my sleep quality is not what it once was.
00:07:36.000 You know, that Helix sleep mattress is great.
00:07:38.000 We know we made the right choice because we took the sleep quiz, which gave us a personalized style specific to our needs and sleep types because Helix doesn't expect one mattress to work for everyone.
00:07:46.000 They shipped it directly to our door for free.
00:07:47.000 Couldn't have been easier.
00:07:49.000 Helix offers customers 120 night sleep trial and happy with Helix guarantee.
00:07:53.000 You can buy with confidence knowing that Helix's number one priority is getting you the best sleep possible.
00:07:58.000 Head on over to helixleep.comslash men for 20% offsite wide, exclusively for listeners of this show.
00:08:03.000 That's helixsleep.comslash men for 20% offsite wide, exclusively for listeners of this show.
00:08:09.000 Again, helix sleep is going to give you your best sleep because it's a mattress made just for you.
00:08:12.000 You don't just go to the mattress store and just lie down on something for five seconds and then you say, oh, good.
00:08:16.000 I'm good for the next 20 years.
00:08:17.000 Bad way to do it.
00:08:18.000 Instead, take their sleep quiz right now, helixleep.comslash men for 20% off.
00:08:22.000 The obvious trap.
00:08:23.000 If I talk about this, AOC and her idiot followers start screaming, why are you even noticing?
00:08:28.000 Why are you talking about this?
00:08:29.000 You're a man.
00:08:30.000 Right.
00:08:31.000 We do that routine.
00:08:33.000 And this is the face tattoo syndrome I talk about all the time, which is you go to the Starbucks, some dude, or maybe a lady now, has a gigantic face tattoo.
00:08:42.000 And then you're like, having a hard time not looking at the face tattoo.
00:08:45.000 And they're like, what are you even looking at?
00:08:47.000 Maybe it's that tattoo on your face.
00:08:47.000 I don't know.
00:08:48.000 Maybe it was that thing.
00:08:50.000 What she's doing is objectively weird.
00:08:51.000 That is a weird thing to do.
00:08:54.000 Not the freezing of the eggs part.
00:08:56.000 We'll get to the morality of all that in a moment.
00:08:58.000 The public announcement is weird.
00:09:01.000 The live streaming of it. Is strange.
00:09:04.000 It is a weird thing to do.
00:09:05.000 Are we allowed to notice that's a weird thing to do?
00:09:07.000 It's a weird thing to do.
00:09:08.000 Live streaming any medical procedure is a weird thing to do.
00:09:12.000 And of course, the only reason to do it, as we'll get to, is to raise awareness of the medical procedure.
00:09:16.000 You remember Katie Couric years ago did this with like a colonoscopy.
00:09:20.000 And the idea was to get people to do colonoscopies.
00:09:22.000 Well, the reason she is doing this, as she will explain later, is to normalize doing this.
00:09:26.000 But remember, the left's entire mantra just shows you when the left says right to privacy, they never mean leave us alone.
00:09:33.000 We just want our right to privacy.
00:09:34.000 They mean We want you to approve of every decision we make and also probably to imitate it in public policy.
00:09:40.000 This has been true for decades with the left.
00:09:43.000 Is there anything less private than what she just did?
00:09:45.000 It's why it's uncomfortable.
00:09:46.000 It should be private.
00:09:47.000 If you're going to do that, do it privately.
00:09:49.000 But the, my body, my business, you know, what are you even, what are you even noticing?
00:09:53.000 You put it on Instagram for millions of people.
00:09:55.000 And then she's even doing it there.
00:09:56.000 And then people are probably going to talk about this.
00:09:58.000 Yeah, that's why you're doing it.
00:10:00.000 If you didn't want people to talk about it, I have a really easy solution.
00:10:03.000 Don't put it on camera and live stream it.
00:10:06.000 Any so called right to privacy goes right out the window when you film yourself injecting hormones into your ovaries on Instagram and then post it for millions of people to see.
00:10:14.000 So, this gets to why is she doing this publicly?
00:10:16.000 Well, obviously, number one, because she's running for president.
00:10:19.000 This is her announcement that she's putting natural biology on hold in order to pursue the presidency.
00:10:25.000 That's what it is.
00:10:26.000 That is clearly what this is.
00:10:28.000 That is why she is doing it, which, again, is actually kind of weirdly sexist because theoretically, she could pursue the presidency while actually just having the natural way babies.
00:10:37.000 She could do that, but she's not.
00:10:40.000 So she said this is the best decision for her family.
00:10:43.000 But that's a weird kind of call because here's the thing.
00:10:47.000 She's 36 years old.
00:10:48.000 She's perfectly healthy.
00:10:49.000 She's been in a relationship with this dude that she is not married to for a reason no one can discern for the last five years.
00:10:55.000 She could just go have a baby the fun and easy way.
00:10:58.000 But instead she's choosing IVF, right?
00:10:58.000 Okay.
00:11:01.000 Freezing the eggs and then later in vitro fertilization.
00:11:03.000 IVF is really expensive.
00:11:05.000 It is time consuming.
00:11:06.000 It is tough on the body.
00:11:07.000 For a healthy woman of 36, let's say that you wanted to do it the old fashioned natural way.
00:11:11.000 The chances of conceiving and having a healthy baby within one year of starting to try is somewhere between 75 and 80%.
00:11:16.000 Now, let's say you harvest that same 36 year old woman's eggs.
00:11:19.000 She's probably between 8 and 12 eggs.
00:11:22.000 The chances of a live birth per IVF round is around 40%.
00:11:26.000 And the process is really, really not pleasant.
00:11:29.000 Okay.
00:11:30.000 It isn't.
00:11:32.000 It may be necessary for people who are infertile.
00:11:34.000 We'll get to, you know, the morality of it in a second.
00:11:36.000 Cause, you know, frankly, I kind of see all sides of this particular issue, but we should not pretend that the process is super simple, that it's, This is something the left likes to do, by the way, with medical procedures that they find politically useful, right?
00:11:48.000 Transing the kids medically simply, just a little snip, snip, you're done.
00:11:51.000 Turns out none of that's true.
00:11:52.000 Well, it turns out that egg harvesting and egg implantation, it's not all that pleasant.
00:11:57.000 Step one, which takes eight to 12 days, ovarian stimulation, where you have to give yourself hormone injections.
00:12:02.000 That's what she's doing right there.
00:12:03.000 Usually, gonna drop ins, which are FSH.
00:12:07.000 That stimulates the ovaries to develop multiple follicles rather than a single follicle, right?
00:12:12.000 Because normally you release one egg a month.
00:12:14.000 Well, now you're releasing many, many eggs.
00:12:16.000 And then you have a bunch of ultrasound and blood test appointments to monitor follicle growth and hormone levels.
00:12:21.000 And then you have to take another medication to stop you from ovulating before you can grab the eggs.
00:12:27.000 And then there is the so called trigger shot.
00:12:28.000 That's step three.
00:12:29.000 That's a trigger injection of HCH or a GNRH agonist, depending on the protocol.
00:12:37.000 And that induces maturation of the egg.
00:12:39.000 And then egg retrieval is scheduled like 36 hours later.
00:12:42.000 And then there's the actual egg retrieval, which requires like a full anesthetized procedure where the physician uses a transvaginal ultrasound guided needle to enter the follicles, aspirate the contents.
00:12:52.000 And then the embryology lab examines the fluid, identifies the eggs.
00:12:58.000 Right?
00:12:58.000 There could be more follicles than eggs.
00:12:59.000 Typically, there are.
00:13:02.000 And then there's a certain number of mature eggs, and then there are the eggs that are not mature.
00:13:07.000 And that's just the harvesting.
00:13:08.000 Later, when you do the implantation, that means that there's a process of egg selection.
00:13:13.000 So let's say there were 10 eggs harvested.
00:13:16.000 Now you get eight that were mature.
00:13:17.000 Maybe six get fertilized.
00:13:18.000 Maybe three end up as blastocysts.
00:13:20.000 Maybe one or two end up as what are typically healthy embryos, euploid embryos.
00:13:25.000 And then the woman has to take estrogen and progesterone.
00:13:27.000 She's like, let's say that she's going to delay this 10 years.
00:13:29.000 And let's say she has gone through some form of menopause.
00:13:32.000 So that means that she has to simulate ovulation.
00:13:33.000 Again, the reason I'm spelling all this out is because it's not easy and it's not cheap and it is not just another option in life.
00:13:40.000 So she can do this because she's 36, independently wealthy.
00:13:46.000 She's privileged, right?
00:13:46.000 She says she has the privilege, which is true.
00:13:48.000 This is a rich people thing, typically speaking.
00:13:52.000 The question is, why isn't she just doing it the natural way?
00:13:56.000 Why isn't she doing it the woman of the people way, right?
00:13:58.000 You know, like 99% of the humans.
00:14:01.000 Again, she's not doing this for medical reasons.
00:14:02.000 She is not doing this because she is having fertility issues or anything like this.
00:14:05.000 Kind of makes a mockery.
00:14:06.000 Of those who actually do have fertility issues and are pursuing this process for medical reasons.
00:14:12.000 And this is not a decision to feel empowered, unless by empowered, we somehow mean that biology itself is an obstacle to living your fullest life, which again is a left wing idea.
00:14:24.000 The left wing idea that biology itself, when you're not talking about actual unhealth, you're not talking about an actual biological condition, that biology itself, like normal maturation, is unfair and cruel.
00:14:33.000 This is something that the left truly believes.
00:14:35.000 This is why they treat puberty for kids as some sort of biological obstacle.
00:14:39.000 It's why they are now treating pregnancy as some sort of biological barrier for women to overcome.
00:14:44.000 By the way, again, can't think of anything more anti woman than the idea that pregnancy is a biological burden on women that is something horrible to be overcome.
00:14:53.000 It is a superpower.
00:14:54.000 I watched my wife just do it.
00:14:54.000 Okay.
00:14:55.000 It is a superpower.
00:14:57.000 It is unbelievable.
00:14:59.000 It is an incredible gift.
00:15:02.000 And demeaning that so that you can compete in a man's world, like, I don't even understand how that's feminist.
00:15:06.000 I think you have a better feminist case for pregnant women should be able.
00:15:10.000 To run for president, then women should have to put off the reproduction for years and years and years and years in order to run for president.
00:15:18.000 What she's doing is something else.
00:15:20.000 She is trying to valorize herself for putting off pregnancy indefinitely, expensively, and more dangerously than the natural way.
00:15:27.000 With, of course, many more questions to be asked about IBS itself.
00:15:30.000 And that brings us to the second reason she's doing this.
00:15:32.000 One is she wants to run for president.
00:15:33.000 She doesn't want you asking about if she's going to get pregnant while she's running.
00:15:36.000 So she's preemptively saying that she's not going to get pregnant, right?
00:15:40.000 That's what that means.
00:15:40.000 All righty, coming up, AOC says she wants to normalize the conversation about freezing your eggs or something, which is a weird thing to do.
00:15:48.000 But you know what is a funny thing that happens when you build a business?
00:15:51.000 At some point, it actually becomes a real business.
00:15:53.000 You've got employees and benefits and contracts and about a thousand moving pieces nobody warned you about.
00:15:57.000 Honestly, it's really disconcerting because you spend most of your time when you start a business not thinking about logistics of all that kind of stuff.
00:16:03.000 You actually build your business.
00:16:04.000 And then one day you walk in and you're like, I need an HR department or something.
00:16:08.000 It's very hard, in other words.
00:16:09.000 Well, that's really, really true of insurance because once you have 25 plus employees, Insurance is one of those things you probably should not be handling with a few clicks online.
00:16:17.000 And this is where SuperSure comes in.

00:16:45.000 Supersure.comslash Shapiro.
00:16:47.000 That's supershore.comslash Shapiro.
00:16:50.000 She's not doing this to explain or normalize the process for the infertile.
00:16:54.000 There are a lot of sort of open and interesting moral questions about IVF in general on a moral level.
00:16:59.000 I actually tend to be more Catholic than Jewish on this issue because, again, Catholics tend to be very much black or white.
00:17:05.000 This is just a thing we don't do.
00:17:07.000 Because the idea is once you start separating off the process of making a baby from the baby making, then you end up carving up the process and bad things result.
00:17:15.000 That's sort of the Catholic idea.
00:17:17.000 There's a little bit more play in the rules with regard to Judaism.
00:17:21.000 I'm generally against IVF because of the inherent problem of creating human life with potential and then discarding it, which is what happens as a process of IVF.
00:17:29.000 But again, I certainly understand and sympathize with the counter argument that without IVF, certain babies just won't be born.
00:17:36.000 Again, two things can be true at once.
00:17:38.000 I can be genuinely overjoyed a child exists who otherwise wouldn't exist, while simultaneously being saddened by the morally questionable methods used to bring a child into existence.
00:17:48.000 It's entirely possible to wish that a specific decision had not been made while still being grateful for the results of that decision.
00:17:54.000 That is a thing you can do.
00:17:57.000 But I'm not totally Catholic on this sort of thing because, again, if a husband and a wife are struggling with infertility, And choose to create, say, a single embryo to carry to term or implant all the embryos.
00:18:06.000 I don't personally see a huge moral problem with that.
00:18:09.000 But none of that is what's happening here.
00:18:10.000 This is a perfectly optional procedure she is pursuing because she wants to pursue her presidential run.
00:18:15.000 And she is doing this publicly because she is making a statement that has society wide consequences.
00:18:20.000 Biology itself is unfair.
00:18:23.000 Seriously, the system that has God created, the cosmic system itself, nature is unfair.
00:18:29.000 And that's why she is doing it publicly because the personal is political.
00:18:32.000 Now, that phrase, the personal is political, that was originally coined by this feminist named Carol Hanish back in 1969.
00:18:38.000 And her point was that your personal choices are inherently political.
00:18:42.000 Abortion is personal, she says, but it's actually political.
00:18:46.000 And there's truth to that because the personal can remain personal when it's personal.
00:18:51.000 But when it becomes a societal standard, it now becomes political.
00:18:54.000 And the left has done this with every single supposed privacy issue, every single one.
00:18:59.000 How fast did we move from abortion is between you and your doctor to shout your abortion?
00:19:05.000 We need to encourage abortion as a form of birth control.
00:19:07.000 How fast do we move from, why can't you leave us alone in our bedrooms to, we demand government benefits for what we do in our bedrooms?
00:19:14.000 How fast do we move from, we just want treatment for gender dysphoric youth to, we just want to teach your kids that boys can be girls, and then we want to penalize you in the workplace for saying the opposite?
00:19:26.000 Well, that's what this is.
00:19:27.000 So, what is the political point that AOC is making here?
00:19:29.000 Well, again, she keeps saying it.
00:19:30.000 She's making the point pretty obviously biology is unfair, womanhood is inherently unfair.
00:19:36.000 And that there is no moral issue with fertilizing embryos you will discard or delaying having kids or any of that, not because of infertility, but out of pure choice.
00:19:44.000 Because, again, biology is unfair.
00:19:46.000 This is what AOC was saying to Jonathan Carl.
00:19:48.000 Again, it's super weird that we are doing this publicly.
00:19:50.000 It is super duper duper weird.
00:19:53.000 It is super weird to announce your presidential run by saying, I promise not to get pregnant for the next 10 years, which is why I'm having my eggs removed.
00:20:00.000 That is a weird thing to do, but that's where we are.
00:20:05.000 It was interesting to see you kind of open up and, you know, and, Instagram Live, I believe it was.
00:20:10.000 So tell me what it was and why you said that.
00:20:12.000 Yeah, you know, I think it's important for us to normalize these conversations, especially in this political environment.
00:20:18.000 The Trump administration has.
00:20:21.000 Remind us what the announcement was.
00:20:22.000 Yeah, sure.
00:20:22.000 So, I have decided to start the process of freezing my eggs.
00:20:27.000 And in this political environment where this administration is denying reproductive care to women across the country, from abortion rights to the ability to carry out a healthy pregnancy, I think it's important for us as leaders to have these conversations and share these processes, especially for working women across the country and normalize them.
00:20:52.000 Working women across the country cannot afford these processes.
00:20:55.000 Again, that is going to be the next step is going to be everyone should have this paid for by the government.
00:20:58.000 That's where she's going to go with this.
00:20:59.000 But pretending this is like a working class issue is not true.
00:21:04.000 It is not true.
00:21:05.000 Overwhelmingly, the people who have IDF are people who are at the upper end of the income spectrum.
00:21:11.000 And more broadly, when you treat life as though it's an elective flexible commodity, you end up with this sort of Frankenstein morality.
00:21:18.000 Babies are a beautiful and normal part of life.
00:21:21.000 Biology is a beautiful and normal part of life.
00:21:24.000 When you decide That babies are a commodity to be created when convenient and that biology can be manipulated at will, that has some pretty significant societal consequences.
00:21:32.000 This is a point that Ross Duthat, formerly of the New York Times, now moving over to CBS News, made when he had a discussion with a founder of a company called Orchid, which is about IVF, named Noor Siddiqui.
00:21:44.000 Here he was discussing IVF.
00:21:47.000 A man and a woman make love, and by making love, they bring a new life into the world that they haven't sculpted or engineered in any way, that is given to them out of the self giving from each other.
00:21:59.000 That forms this profound connection between sex, the way you love your partner, and the family that you've brought into being.
00:22:08.000 And again, this, you know, allowing that we're in a world where people have genetic disorders and there are all kinds of reasons that people would consider other ways of having children, you're imagining a future where that just sort of goes away.
00:22:22.000 And I'm wondering if you think anything would actually be lost if that goes away, if 90% of babies are born through IVF.
00:22:30.000 And having sex and having a baby out of that becomes this weird thing that the Amish do.
00:22:35.000 Aren't you pushing some really intimate and important aspect of human experience out of human experience?
00:22:47.000 Okay, and she looks totally puzzled by this particular question.
00:22:49.000 Totally puzzled.
00:22:50.000 Because again, the complete disconnect between sex and procreation, which really happened and was pushed by the left in the 60s and it came along with the birth control pill, has now come to its fullest fruition here.
00:23:00.000 And what does that do?
00:23:00.000 Well, it promotes a casual attitude toward reproduction as if there are no societal consequences or even personal consequences for just hitting an indefinite pause button on biological reality.
00:23:11.000 And of course, all of this glosses over the fact this is an incredibly expensive, physically demanding, medically much riskier procedure than natural processes that is nowhere near a guarantee of a healthy child.
00:23:22.000 But we're framing this now as a positive, empowered good, which creates another permission structure for young women to delay motherhood based on the idea that biology is somehow unfair or sexist and that this is, you know, just a really, really good First option, not even a backup option, like a good first option.
00:23:38.000 The biggest problem in our society is that we have adult men and women who are putting off the key choices in life.
00:23:45.000 That is a major problem in our society.
00:23:47.000 Marriage, having kids, we're putting it off.
00:23:48.000 That's a real problem.
00:23:51.000 Okay.
00:23:52.000 But again, it isn't to the left because the idea of the left for generations at this point has been to replace actual biology and actual consequences with presumptively at some point government interventionism, which Again, this is where this is going to go.
00:24:06.000 I promise this is going to go to.
00:24:07.000 She's going to say, I can afford IVF, but you can't afford it.
00:24:09.000 Everyone needs to be able to do IVF.
00:24:12.000 This was the left's biggest promise.
00:24:14.000 And by the way, the only promise the left has ever kept the promise to free people of the consequences of decision making.
00:24:19.000 The left promised sex without consequences and then built an entire governmental structure to secure that.
00:24:24.000 And now the left is promising that you can basically alter your biology without consequences.
00:24:28.000 They're going to do the same thing.
00:24:29.000 That's why AOC is doing this.
00:24:31.000 And to talk about this, there will be now blowback, right?
00:24:33.000 Because if you take issue with her personal decision, a decision that she is announcing to the entire world with the intent of making it public and political, then she will portray it as anti woman.
00:24:43.000 But once again, it seems to me far more anti woman to proclaim that womanhood itself, meaning like, Getting pregnant, having a baby for healthy people must be delayed indefinitely in order to compete with the men.
00:24:55.000 First of all, it's not true.
00:24:57.000 We all have to make all sorts of decisions bound by reality.
00:25:01.000 It's not government's job to fix reality.
00:25:04.000 And struggling against reality, you are bound to lose.
00:25:06.000 A society in which women indefinitely put off reproduction for career purposes is a worse society, is a society that does not function properly.
00:25:13.000 A society in which children are viewed as accoutrements and not as the core of the future, like the most important thing you do, is a worse society.
00:25:21.000 And it is not the fault of men that men's biological contribution to baby making is far less time consuming and rigorous and difficult than women's.
00:25:29.000 That is not a man's fault.
00:25:31.000 And it is not a woman's shortcoming that that is true for women either.
00:25:34.000 It's a woman's superpower.
00:25:36.000 A society in which IVF is not a medical solution to a fertility problem, but an option for rich ladies who just don't want the inconvenience of reality, is a worse society.
00:25:46.000 Your country is beneath contempt.
00:25:50.000 We who love and serve Allah fought back against the Americans and the Zionists.
00:25:56.000 From the scourge of secularism and the lands of unbelief.
00:26:06.000 Anyone gonna listen to Captain Saunders tomorrow?
00:26:08.000 The retired Delta Force soldier with the new book out.
00:26:12.000 He's the polar opposite of those brain dead protesters.
00:26:15.000 Given the current climate, should Clay Saunders even be allowed on campus?
00:26:18.000 Mr. Saunders is a close personal friend of Chancellor Friedman.
00:26:21.000 This is a decision I cannot flout.
00:26:23.000 There are three ways Islam will conquer the West through immigration, through the wombs.
00:26:30.000 Of our women and by using our nation's freedoms against us.
00:26:42.000 Are you paying attention?
00:26:50.000 Listen carefully.
00:26:54.000 The great Satan America will fall.
00:27:02.000 You are infidels.
00:27:04.000 The bodies of women are not pure and men's souls are unclean.
00:27:09.000 What makes them so dangerous?
00:27:12.000 Their goals are not in this life, but the next.
00:27:20.000 I got frenzy.
00:27:21.000 I can't just leave.
00:27:22.000 They listen to me.
00:27:23.000 In the law, we cannot run or hide from what is coming.
00:27:29.000 We have to fight.
00:27:30.000 I will be rewarded 10,000 times in the next life.
00:27:33.000 When you die you're nothing!
00:27:35.000 Only one way to find out!
00:27:40.000 That's the American way.
