00:00:00.000 Joe Biden admits that his eviction moratorium is unconstitutional, but hey, what the hell?
00:00:04.000 Plus, Biden attacks Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who absolutely clocks him.
00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:09.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:16.000 Today's show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:18.000 I protect my data with VPN, so should you.

00:00:22.000 Slash Ben will get to all the news in just one moment.
00:00:24.000 First, here is your reminder that the government is spending money that they do not have.
00:00:28.000 And that means eventually they're going to have to either raise taxes or raise the amount of money that they are printing.
00:00:33.000 And when that happens, you are going to want to have your assets at least a little bit diversified away from stocks and bonds and into something like Birch Gold.
00:00:41.000 In their recent budget proposal, the White House Budget Office forecast inflation for 2021 at 2.1%.
00:00:47.000 In June, the actual inflation rate was 5.4%.
00:00:49.000 Inflation is already here, and now you have people from the Federal Reserve saying that it's going to last longer than they originally thought it would.
00:00:57.000 That is not a shock.
00:00:58.000 If you haven't reached out to Birch Gold to diversify part of your IRA or 401k into a precious metals IRA, do it today.
00:01:04.000 Text Ben to 474747.

00:01:30.000 Okay, we're going to get to everything COVID-related in just one moment.
00:01:35.000 First, here's your Andrew Cuomo update.
00:01:38.000 There's no update.
00:01:39.000 Nothing has happened.
00:01:40.000 I just want you to recall for a second that Andrew Cuomo, it was known last year, had killed basically all the old people in New York and then covered it up.
00:01:48.000 And the reason I laugh is because you sort of have to laugh when somebody is this blatant about it and gets away with it and the entire media just continues to massage him.
00:01:57.000 And then it turns out there's this big scandal because he's been sexually harassing the help.
00:02:02.000 Whether it's on his campaign or in his campaign offices or whether it's in his gubernatorial office, he's been doing this for years on end.
00:02:08.000 And at the time that all of this was reported, there was talk about, well, maybe we should do something about it.
00:02:12.000 Well, now there's been this report from Letitia James, like 168 pages, and this 168 page report is just replete with Andrew Cuomo not being able to keep his hands off the hired help.
00:02:23.000 And it really is an incredible, incredible thing.
00:02:27.000 The report is very long.
00:02:28.000 It talks about how he's groping people and how he's touching people in an uncomfortable way and how he is then threatening their jobs if they don't sort of reciprocate his feelings and all the rest of this.
00:02:37.000 And remember, Andrew Cuomo's response to these charges after Letitia James, the Attorney General of New York, came out with all this, his response to all of this was, well, you know, I do touch a lot of people.
00:02:49.000 I'm not kidding.
00:02:50.000 Here, just so you recall, here was Andrew Cuomo's little slideshow that he did the other day trying to excuse him grabbing women by the boobs and such.
00:03:00.000 Indeed, there are hundreds, if not thousands of photos of me using the exact same gesture.
00:03:08.000 I do it with everyone.
00:03:10.000 Black and white, young and old.
00:03:17.000 Straight and LGBTQ.
00:03:21.000 Powerful people.
00:03:25.000 Friends, strangers, people who I meet on the street.
00:03:30.000 I mean, I do love that defense, which is like, look, here's a bunch of pictures of me hanging out with Robert De Niro and giving him the old double cheek grab.
00:03:38.000 And here is me with Al Gore giving him a little peck on the cheek.
00:03:43.000 That is exactly the same as that time that I stuffed my hands up a woman's blouse and tried to grab her boobs.
00:03:47.000 Exactly.
00:03:49.000 What the hell is wrong with you?
00:03:51.000 What?
00:03:52.000 Seriously?
00:03:54.000 This is like Lenny from Of Mice and Men using as his defense to strangling a woman to death that he also likes to pet bunnies.
00:04:01.000 No, these are not related things.
00:04:03.000 No, that is not a defense, dude.
00:04:04.000 I mean, the fact that you're like grabbing Charlie Rangel by the back of the neck, Al Pacino style in The Godfather 2, like that does not have anything to say about whether you are grabbing state troopers by the belly and like massaging them and such.
00:04:19.000 It's just an incredible thing.
00:04:20.000 But this guy's going to get away with it.
00:04:22.000 Understand he's going to get away with it because the Democrats are not going to impeach him.
00:04:25.000 And this does give the lie to the whole Democrats saying for years on end, well, these Republicans, they have no standards.
00:04:32.000 Let's be real about this.
00:04:33.000 No one has had standards since Bill Clinton.
00:04:35.000 The Democrats had the opportunity to get rid of Bill Clinton over this exact sort of stuff in the late 90s.
00:04:40.000 They decided that his agenda Which, by the way, would have been carried on by Al Gore.
00:04:44.000 But his agenda was more important than standing up for the principle.
00:04:49.000 And so they decided to let Bill Clinton survive.
00:04:51.000 And now every politician knows that if you just wait it out long enough, it'll be fine.
00:04:55.000 And you can see it happening in real time.
00:04:57.000 So yesterday, for example, Joe Biden called for Andrew Cuomo to resign.
00:05:01.000 Of course, if Andrew Cuomo says no, he has no actual repercussions in store.
00:05:06.000 Here is Joe Biden calling for Cuomo to resign the other day.
00:05:09.000 Back in March, you said that if the investigation confirmed the allegations against Governor Cuomo, then he should resign.
00:05:16.000 So will you now call on him to resign, given the investigator said the 11 women were credible?
00:05:21.000 I stand by that statement.
00:05:24.000 Are you now calling on him to resign?
00:05:25.000 Yes.
00:05:27.000 And if he doesn't resign, do you believe he should be impeached and removed from office?
00:05:31.000 Let's take one thing at a time, Eric.
00:05:32.000 I think he should resign.
00:05:37.000 I love that response right there.
00:05:38.000 We'll get to it when we get to it, guys.
00:05:39.000 I mean, the actual serious question as to, like, what will you do if he just doesn't leave?
00:05:43.000 He's like, well, you know, well, here's the thing.
00:05:46.000 We do know.
00:05:47.000 We do know.
00:05:47.000 Because Ralph Northam, you'll recall, was also asked to resign by nearly all the Democrats when it turned out that 35 years ago, he dressed in a medical school yearbook in either blackface or a KKK outfit.
00:05:58.000 And you'll remember that everybody said he needs to go.
00:06:01.000 And then there was talk about Justin Fairfax, his lieutenant governor, who'd been accused of sexual misconduct.
00:06:06.000 And people were like, well, maybe he has to go.
00:06:08.000 Both of them are still in office.
00:06:10.000 You can just live it out.
00:06:11.000 Everybody knows you can just live it out, right?
00:06:13.000 Jen Psaki, she makes this clear.
00:06:16.000 I do also love Jen Psaki's response here.
00:06:18.000 So she was asked specifically, you know, you said that there should be an independent commission to investigate the allegations about Andrew Cuomo.
00:06:23.000 You went to like an independent commission for, you know, like Tara Reade and Joe Biden, you know, the allegations against Joe Biden that he sexually harassed somebody back in the 1990s.
00:06:33.000 And she's like, nah, not so much.
00:06:35.000 Yeah, we know.
00:06:36.000 We know.
00:06:36.000 OK, we all know.
00:06:38.000 Should there be an independent investigation of allegations into the president as there was into Governor Cuomo?
00:06:44.000 Well, first I would say the president has been clear and outspoken about the importance of women being respected and having their voices heard and being allowed to tell their stories and people treating them with respect.
00:06:56.000 That has long been his policy, continues to be his policy.
00:07:00.000 That was heavily litigated during the campaign.
00:07:03.000 I understand you're eager to come back to it, but I don't have anything further other than to repeat that he has called for uh... that i was looking at what i'm here we're done here guys now meanwhile bill de blasio is really out there to do what one of my favorite things in politics is the absolute utter hatred between bill de blasio and andrew cuomo these two ridiculous narcissist despise one another de blasio hates cuomo cuomo hates de blasio Both have excellent reason to hate each other because they're both extremely hateable.
00:07:30.000 Bill de Blasio does not pull any punches.
00:07:32.000 He's like, not only should Cuomo resign, Cuomo should be criminally charged.
00:07:36.000 And, you know, when Andrew Cuomo says that it's a generational thing, how he talks to people and how he touches people, Bill de Blasio is like, you know, when you stick your hands up somebody's shirt, that's not really generational.
00:07:45.000 Points to Bill de Blasio, that weird old communist.
00:07:48.000 The whole thing has been so painful.
00:07:50.000 When you read this report, 11 women systematically wronged, 11 women affronted by a powerful guy who could crush their career and their reputation, and he's the kind of guy that everyone assumes would if you crossed him.
00:08:03.000 Putting your hand up a woman's shirt and touching their breast is not generational.
00:08:08.000 I know plenty of guys who are older who would never in a million years do that.
00:08:12.000 Uh, Bill de Blasio makes a good point, I know.
00:08:16.000 That is a sentence that has never left my lips before, nor will it ever again, in all likelihood, but his point is well taken.
00:08:24.000 Final point with regard to Andrew Cuomo before we move on.
00:08:27.000 It is incredible that Chris Cuomo is going to retain his job at CNN.
00:08:30.000 It is just unbelievable.
00:08:31.000 He spent all of last year talking up his brother's response to COVID, which again, New York has the second worst death per million ratio in the nation.
00:08:40.000 It goes New Jersey and then New York.
00:08:42.000 And Chris spent every waking moment talking up how wonderful his brother was.
00:08:46.000 Listen, I get he's your brother.
00:08:47.000 I do.
00:08:48.000 Really, I do.
00:08:49.000 But if you're going to pretend to be an objective journalist, you don't get to do that.
00:08:53.000 So he talked up his brother's COVID response.
00:08:55.000 He then was advising his brother.
00:08:56.000 He was writing his brother's press releases and all the sexual harassment stuff.
00:08:59.000 So last night he had the ability to cover Andrew on air.
00:09:03.000 And of course, what did he do?
00:09:04.000 He just ignored the story completely.
00:09:05.000 It was only the biggest story in the country yesterday.
00:09:07.000 He just ignored it.
00:09:08.000 I'm Chris Cuomo.
00:09:09.000 Welcome to PRIMETIME.
00:09:10.000 We're focused on COVID here, especially until we get the Delta variant under control.
00:09:15.000 And for now, as you know, it's getting worse.
00:09:19.000 Okay, so what does all this really mean in the end?
00:09:22.000 It just means that there are no norms.
00:09:24.000 When people say that norms are violated, that Republicans break norms, Democrats break norms, here is the thing.
00:09:29.000 There are no more norms.
00:09:32.000 Okay, the norms have largely been discarded.
00:09:34.000 And this is why people don't trust the institutions.
00:09:37.000 This is why the institutions are falling apart.
00:09:39.000 And when you hear people on the left claim that authoritarianism is around the corner because of President Trump who violated all the norms, let's be real about this once again.
00:09:47.000 Trump was the coroner.
00:09:49.000 He was not the murderer.
00:09:50.000 The norms were already dead.
00:09:51.000 Trump just declared them dead.
00:09:53.000 Trump just came along and he said, yes, you're right.
00:09:56.000 This body is cold.
00:09:57.000 This corpse has been here for a while.
00:09:59.000 The norms in American politics have basically been discarded.
00:10:02.000 They've been gone for quite a while.
00:10:04.000 And now it's just a matter of declaring them gone.
00:10:06.000 And the Democrats are not being too shy about any of that.
00:10:09.000 Today's case in point is Joe Biden.
00:10:12.000 So Joe Biden is engaging right now in some pretty authoritarian stuff.
00:10:18.000 Now, if Donald Trump had come along and said, listen, I'm about to do something I openly acknowledge is unconstitutional, now watch me, people would have lost their minds, right?
00:10:26.000 They would have said, that's pretty insane, is it not?
00:10:29.000 I mean, and by the way, Trump did say wild stuff while he was president.
00:10:33.000 That was authoritarian talk.
00:10:35.000 I think that when he was rejecting the results of elections, that is not the kind of talk you want out of the President of the United States.
00:10:40.000 But Joe Biden was supposed to be the restorer of norms.
00:10:43.000 He was supposed to be the return of Captain Normalcy, right?
00:10:46.000 He was the moderate guy in the room.
00:10:48.000 He was not going to violate constitutional norms.
00:10:51.000 Well, just like his predecessor in the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, He has now said that he is just going to acknowledge openly that things are unconstitutional and then do them anyway.
00:11:00.000 So you'll recall that Barack Obama said over and over and over again that he could not, from the executive office, simply declare amnesty for the so-called dreamers.
00:11:08.000 He said it dozens of times.
00:11:10.000 And then he was like, well, maybe I'll just do it anyway.
00:11:14.000 Well, now Joe Biden is doing the exact same thing with regard to a new CDC moratorium on evictions.
00:11:21.000 All right, so Biden had been talking about the possibility of a brand new CDC eviction moratorium.
00:11:26.000 Now, recall, the CDC has no statutory power to simply determine that landlords all over the United States have to forfeit their rents.
00:11:35.000 OK, this does not exist anywhere in American law.
00:11:38.000 It is an absurdity on its face.
00:11:39.000 But the CDC has been pushing it for a year, like over a year at this point.
00:11:46.000 The Supreme Court took this up and they said, it's pretty obvious the CDC doesn't have this authority and we would strike it down, but it appears that this thing is going to be moods because in a couple of weeks it sort of just goes by the wayside, right?
00:11:56.000 It expires on July 31st.
00:11:58.000 And so at that point, Congress can take it up anew.
00:12:01.000 But if the CDC does it anew, then we are going to say that it's unconstitutional, right?
00:12:04.000 There's a 5-4 decision in which Justice Kavanaugh wrote the decision.
00:12:08.000 OK, well, now Joe Biden is saying openly, without a doubt, he's just saying it straight up.
00:12:14.000 That the CDC does not have the power to declare a new moratorium, but he is going to push them to do it anyway.
00:12:20.000 He said this yesterday.
00:12:21.000 It's an insane statement.
00:12:23.000 It is a dictatorial statement.
00:12:24.000 It is full authoritarian.
00:12:26.000 When the President of the United States openly says, I have no authority to do X, now I'm going to try and do X. That is the definition of somebody who does not give a damn about the Constitution of the United States.
00:12:38.000 Joe Biden, by the way, does this kind of stuff routinely, right?
00:12:40.000 He's constantly saying, I don't think I have the power to do that from the executive office.
00:12:44.000 And then he's pushed by his left flank and suddenly he seems to reconsider.
00:12:48.000 So on Tuesday, Biden announced that the CDC would push for a new moratorium on evictions before admitting that the order was quote unquote, not likely to pass constitutional muster.
00:12:58.000 Here is Biden fully again admitting he doesn't have the authority to do this while pushing the CDC to do it.
00:13:05.000 Whether that option will pass constitutional measure with this administration.
00:13:13.000 I can't tell you.
00:13:15.000 I don't know.
00:13:16.000 There are a few scholars who say it will and others who say it's not likely to.
00:13:22.000 But at a minimum, By the time it gets litigated, we'll probably give some additional time while we're getting that $45 billion out to people who are, in fact, behind in the rent and don't have the money.
00:13:36.000 Okay, so what he's openly saying right now is, I'm going to do an unconstitutional thing.
00:13:40.000 I know it's going to get struck down by the courts, but because it takes the courts time to litigate that measure, that is going to give me additional time to do all these other things I need to do.
00:13:50.000 That's about as openly cynical a move as I've ever seen in American politics.
00:13:54.000 That's not democracy dying secretly.
00:13:56.000 That's not democracy dying in darkness.
00:13:58.000 That's democracy dying just right in front of you.
00:14:00.000 To the cheering of the media, by the way.
00:14:02.000 Wait until you hear some of the headlines.
00:14:05.000 I mean, Biden himself says, quote, the bulk of the constitutional scholarship says it's not likely to pass constitutional muster.
00:14:11.000 But there are several key scholars who think that it may.
00:14:13.000 Who, by the way, did he actually talk to?
00:14:14.000 Lawrence Tribe of Harvard Law School, who became an absolute joke over the course of the Trump administration when he just started saying crazy things over and over and over again.
00:14:24.000 By the way, all of this followed hard on Cori Bush.
00:14:27.000 So Cori Bush is the congresswoman from Missouri, a Black Lives Matter activist, she's somehow adjunct member of the squad, sleeping on the steps of the Capitol building to demonstrate what it's like to be homeless.
00:14:40.000 Wow, such heroics, such imagery.
00:14:43.000 And this apparently prompted Biden to make his move here.
00:14:47.000 The CDC statement here, by the way, is insane.
00:14:49.000 You know, there are actual fines that are associated with this.
00:14:52.000 The actual fines include, for example, up to a $100,000 fine for evicting somebody.
00:15:02.000 I don't understand where the CDC gets this authority.
00:15:04.000 I really don't.
00:15:07.000 How?
00:15:08.000 Under what auspices?
00:15:12.000 Punishing people with $100,000 fines?
00:15:13.000 How?
00:15:18.000 But apparently, those are the criminal penalties.
00:15:21.000 I'm reading from the CDC order right now.
00:15:23.000 Under 18 U.S.
00:15:24.000 Code 3559, a person violating this order may be subject to a fine of no more than $100,000 or one year in jail or both if the violation does not result in a death, or a fine of no more than $250,000 or one year in jail or both if the violation results in a death, or as otherwise provided by law.
00:15:43.000 An organization violating this order may be subject to a fine of no more than $200,000 per event if the violation does not result in a death, or a half million dollars per event if the violation results in a death.
00:15:53.000 I don't know what it means for it to result in a death.
00:15:55.000 So, what happens?
00:15:56.000 You evict somebody, and then they can't find a place that they want to rent, and then they just die?
00:16:00.000 Like, what does that actually mean?
00:16:02.000 Is the Little Match Girl out on the street?
00:16:04.000 What are we talking about here?
00:16:05.000 But bottom line here is it really doesn't matter.
00:16:08.000 The bigger story here is that the CDC is just doing openly unconstitutional things at Biden's behest.
00:16:12.000 And apparently nobody seems to give a hot damn for even a second.
00:16:16.000 And then the norms crowd is going to lecture us?
00:16:19.000 Then we're gonna get lectures from the norms crowd about Republicans?
00:16:22.000 And how Republicans violate norms?
00:16:24.000 And how Republicans are the true authoritarians?
00:16:25.000 Really?
00:16:26.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:16:28.000 First, let's talk about a simple fact.
00:16:30.000 When you are at the office, you are sitting on an office chair, much of the day.

00:17:51.000 And you should get the chair anyway, because it's just fantastic.
00:17:53.000 Okay, so Jen Psaki basically admits this.
00:17:56.000 She's like, yeah, you know, it might be unconstitutional, but here's the thing, no one cares.
00:18:00.000 What's the White House's message then to Americans who heard what happened yesterday, heard what was said at this podium on Monday, can't square the two and are now disappointed that the President is signaling that he doesn't respect the rule of law?
00:18:14.000 I'm not sure there are Americans evaluating it to that degree.
00:18:17.000 Maybe there are some you've talked to, I don't know.
00:18:19.000 What the president has, his message to the American people, especially those who are concerned about losing their homes, being kicked out of their homes, is that he's going to do everything in his power to make sure they can stay in their homes.
00:18:32.000 That's the whole thing.
00:18:33.000 That's the whole thing.
00:18:35.000 So long as he signals that he is willing to do something, even if the something he is doing is authoritarian and violates all the rules, that's all that matters in the end.
00:18:42.000 Because as I've been discussing the past several weeks, Americans at this point have a bias toward action.
00:18:48.000 Even if that means violating all of the rules, which is a really scary precondition to actual authoritarian dictatorship.
00:18:55.000 This is what authoritarians do.
00:18:56.000 Authoritarians say, I can't get it done using the complex system I've been given with the checks and the balances and the legislature and all this, so I'm just gonna do what you, the people, want.
00:19:07.000 The people.
00:19:09.000 Yes, that's my Bane voice from Dark Knight Rises, because that's what this is, right?
00:19:14.000 They're handing power back to you, the people.
00:19:17.000 That's all that matters.
00:19:18.000 So long as you are fine with him violating the Constitution, the Constitutional violation, poof.
00:19:23.000 It just doesn't matter.
00:19:24.000 Anymore.
00:19:25.000 And the media celebrate this kind of stuff.
00:19:25.000 At all.
00:19:27.000 Democracy dies in darkness.
00:19:29.000 The Washington Post.
00:19:30.000 Here was their headline from The Fix.
00:19:32.000 This is Aaron Blake.
00:19:33.000 Biden's novel eviction is defense.
00:19:35.000 Maybe it's illegal, but it's worth it.
00:19:38.000 Yeah, we noticed.
00:19:39.000 We noticed.
00:19:40.000 Maybe it's illegal, but it's worth it is a hell of a statement for a president of the United States to be making and for the Washington Post to be quasi-celebrating.
00:19:47.000 Early last decade, then-President Barack Obama and Congress were in a standoff.
00:19:51.000 Says Aaron Blake, Obama badly wanted Congress to pass long-failed comprehensive immigration reform, but allies called for him to do something himself.
00:19:57.000 His repeated response, I can't.
00:19:59.000 I'm not an emperor.
00:19:59.000 I'm not a king.
00:20:00.000 The old constitutional law professor wanted to force Congress to do things the old-fashioned, more robust ways.
00:20:06.000 But when Congress continued to stall, he did something himself anyway.
00:20:09.000 Twice.
00:20:10.000 The lessons of this apparently weren't learned by his VP, Joe Biden, and Biden's new administration.
00:20:14.000 Or, if they were, the lesson was apparently that it was a gambit worth repeating.
00:20:19.000 It's a heck of a way to do the country's business, and Biden arguably took it even further than Obama did.
00:20:24.000 The previous moratorium on evictions had lapsed a few days previously.
00:20:27.000 The administration wanted Congress to do something about it.
00:20:30.000 They had good reason.
00:20:31.000 It appeared Congress had to do something because the Supreme Court had already ruled on all of this.
00:20:35.000 But now, because the CDC points to the Delta variant, now they get to say that they are going to extend the moratorium.
00:20:41.000 By the way, again, it is dictatorial stuff that the CDC was able to extend moratoria in the first place.
00:20:47.000 That's nuts.
00:20:48.000 Why exactly does the CDC get to say in the middle of us blowing money out the door, like no time in human history.
00:20:55.000 Seriously, no time in human history.
00:20:56.000 You understand.
00:20:57.000 Last year, Americans ended the year on average with more savings than they had at the beginning of the year, in the middle of a pandemic.
00:21:04.000 The one group of people who got absolutely jacked were the people who own the buildings.
00:21:08.000 Now the best part of all of this, of course, is going to be the unintended consequence.
00:21:12.000 Because it turns out, when you tell developers and landowners they can't collect rent, you know what they stop doing?
00:21:17.000 Building homes.
00:21:18.000 So, when there is a housing shortage, and when the prices continue to rise, when there's an apartment shortage, and prices continue to rise, you know what the left will say?
00:21:26.000 They'll blame capitalism.
00:21:28.000 They will have created the shortage and then they will blame capitalism.
00:21:31.000 The beautiful thing about being a member of the left is being a leftist means never having to say you're sorry.
00:21:37.000 You can completely wreck all of the incentives and still blame the other guy.
00:21:41.000 It's really impressive.
00:21:43.000 By the way, CNN was doing the same thing as The Washington Post.
00:21:47.000 Stephen Collison at CNN Well, I mean, that is a very different headline, I feel, than it would have been if, for example, Donald Trump had openly said it was unconstitutional and then done it.
00:22:02.000 I have a feeling it wouldn't have been about how willing he was to help the American people.
00:22:07.000 I have a feeling you would have been a lot more upset with the violation of norms, the dictatorial violation of norms.
00:22:13.000 But again, it only counts as a dictatorial violation of norms when the press opposes your party.
00:22:18.000 If the press is in favor of your party, then it's just you being so brave.
00:22:22.000 So unbelievably brave in the face of the evil constitution of the United States.
00:22:26.000 Alrighty, in just one second, we're going to talk about the latest emergency talk surrounding COVID and the pitch battle that has broken out between Joe Biden and Governor Ron DeSantis of my home state of Florida first.
00:22:38.000 Let's talk about the simple fact that if you ever get into credit card debt, it is a serious problem.
00:22:42.000 You want to wreck your life?
00:22:43.000 Getting into credit card debt is an excellent way to do it.
00:22:45.000 I know people, really, who've destroyed marriages.
00:22:48.000 I know people who have destroyed their livelihoods because they've gotten into credit card debt.
00:22:51.000 They start racking up those giant interest fees, and now they're really behind the eight ball.
00:22:55.000 Well, if you're like most of us, you do need to carry a balance on your credit cards.

00:23:50.000 Alrighty.
00:23:51.000 So meanwhile, The continued push for panic, it just, it never ends.
00:23:55.000 It never ends from our public health aficionados.
00:23:59.000 You have Dr. Michael Osterholm, who of course is a COVID advisor to the Biden administration, saying, you know, what we really have to be prepared for is the next variant.
00:24:06.000 So you're seeing this trending pretty much every day on Twitter.
00:24:08.000 You've already heard Delta Plus.
00:24:10.000 Then there's Lambda.
00:24:11.000 I'm looking forward to Omega.
00:24:13.000 I'm looking forward to, you know, all of them.
00:24:15.000 Zeta.
00:24:17.000 Let's just go through all of them.
00:24:18.000 Now, here's the thing.
00:24:20.000 There can be a very deadly variant that arises.
00:24:22.000 Also, there's no way you're stopping it.
00:24:24.000 Just pointing this out, the last Delta variant itself started in India.
00:24:29.000 Before that, there was a lot of worry about the Brazilian variant.
00:24:31.000 You now have a disease in COVID-19 that's infected hundreds of millions of people and is particularly active right now in tens of millions of people at a minimum.
00:24:42.000 Nothing you do is going to stop the development of those variants.
00:24:46.000 All you can hope is that, as in the past, variants get weaker and also that the vaccines continue to be durable, which, so far, they have been.
00:24:54.000 The talk about how we have to worry about the next variants and this requires masking endlessly is just an argument, essentially, for forever masking and forever social distancing.
00:25:03.000 That's what Dr. Michael Osterholm is doing right here.
00:25:05.000 Here he goes.
00:25:06.000 Well, basically the variants that we're concerned about in terms of their increased risk to humans have one of three characteristics, or all three.
00:25:16.000 One is they're more infectious, which we know Delta is substantially more infectious, even than Alpha, which that by itself was more infectious.
00:25:24.000 Number two, that they can cause more severe illness, just related to the question you just asked about does it cause more severe illness for the number of people who are infected?
00:25:32.000 And number three, does it have a way of evading immune protection?
00:25:35.000 Does it somehow get around the vaccines or get around the protection you get from natural infection?
00:25:42.000 And any one of those three characteristics could make another variant worse, and if you add all of them together, it could be worse.
00:25:49.000 We don't have any evidence right now we have one that's worse, but I agree with Dr. Fauci that it surely is possible that one that could be more infectious than Delta, which would be hard to imagine that being the case, could actually happen, and we have to be prepared for that.
00:26:03.000 Okay, and how exactly would you recommend that we're prepared for that?
00:26:06.000 Really?
00:26:07.000 I mean, everyone who's getting vaccinated is getting vaccinated.
00:26:10.000 Everybody who's not is not.
00:26:11.000 So what exactly is your remedy?
00:26:13.000 And the answer is there is no remedy.
00:26:15.000 It's just lockdowns and masking all the way down.
00:26:18.000 And you get praised by the media, of course, if you do this sort of stuff.
00:26:21.000 Even if it's completely ineffective.
00:26:22.000 Better for you to ruin the school years of millions of children than to take rational public health measures directed based on the evidence. This is why you have the Illinois governor, JB Pritzker, who has presided, by the way, over a not particularly successful COVID response, talking about a new school mask mandate.
00:26:39.000 JB Pritzker, Illinois Governor-General, speaking Because of the lower rates of vaccination among teens aged 20 to seven, sorry, 12 to 17, because the vaccine has not yet been approved for children under 12, because the vaccine, because there are many people who are reluctant across some of the districts to adopt the CDC's guidance, effective immediately, all P-12 schools and daycares
00:27:07.000 in Illinois must follow the CDC guidance of universal masking inside, regardless of vaccine status.
00:27:16.000 Again, the evidence to support these sorts of proposals are skimpy at best and nonexistent at worst.
00:27:22.000 J.B.
00:27:23.000 Pritzker will be championed now by the media as a wonderful man who is standing up to the evils of COVID.
00:27:28.000 I'm just going to point out to you that Illinois has a death rate of right now 204 per 100,000 people.
00:27:35.000 Those are the death rates from coronavirus as of August 4th, 2021.
00:27:39.000 Illinois is at 204.
00:27:41.000 The much maligned Florida is currently at 184, meaning that Florida has outperformed Illinois by leaps and bounds and is a much older state to boot.
00:27:51.000 But that's not stopping Joe Biden from going after Ron DeSantis.
00:27:54.000 So here's the thing.
00:27:55.000 Just like early on in the pandemic, everybody was very angry on the left at Sweden because Sweden wasn't doing it the way you were supposed to with the giant lockdowns and the mask mandates and everybody go in your house and stay in your house until the government tells you what to do.
00:28:07.000 Instead, Sweden was like, OK, listen, if you're vulnerable and if you're old, then we should take precautions to help you.
00:28:12.000 And if not, you should probably get back to work.
00:28:14.000 Because Sweden took that perspective.
00:28:16.000 This made them the envy of the world.
00:28:18.000 There are a lot of people out there hating on Sweden.
00:28:20.000 Even though, by the way, the Swedes, that's a democracy.
00:28:22.000 They can do exactly what they want.
00:28:24.000 Well, Florida is now the latest example, and really has been since the beginning of the pandemic.
00:28:29.000 If all you saw was the media coverage of Florida, you would think Florida easily Has the worst deaths per million ratio in the United States, right?
00:28:36.000 I mean, clearly, if you just stack up all the headlines about Ron DeSantis and the evils of Florida, next to the headlines about, say, New York or New Jersey, where the governors have been treated as though they are amazing at this.
00:28:48.000 Up to and including today, by the way, the governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, who's an idiot, was out there yelling at some anti-vaxxers, and people on the left were like, whoa, what an amazing governor!
00:28:55.000 Meanwhile, Ron DeSantis is a terrible governor.
00:28:57.000 Just gonna point out, New Jersey has the number one worst death per million ratio in the United States.
00:29:04.000 Ron DeSantis' death per million ratio of COVID in Florida is approximately about 55%, 60% of what New Jersey's is.
00:29:13.000 New Jersey's at 300 and Ron DeSantis' Florida's at 184.
00:29:17.000 So what the media like to do is they like to pick on DeSantis when there's a surge in Florida.
00:29:22.000 So it is all based on timing.
00:29:24.000 They never give you the overall death stats from Florida because that debunks the argument.
00:29:27.000 Instead, they point out when Florida is having a surge.
00:29:30.000 That's a big deal.
00:29:31.000 When Florida has a surge, that's a huge deal.
00:29:33.000 And so this prompted Joe Biden yesterday to go after Ron DeSantis.
00:29:36.000 Now, again, there's another reason they're going after DeSantis, and that is that Joe Biden is very much afraid that Ron DeSantis is gonna be the Republican nominee for president in 2024 and could dismantle him in a debate, frankly.
00:29:48.000 Not only because Joe Biden is not sentient, but because DeSantis is actually fairly good at this.
00:29:51.000 So here was Joe Biden going after the governor of my state, Ron DeSantis, yesterday.
00:29:55.000 Just two states, Florida and Texas, account for one-third of all new COVID-19 cases in the entire country.
00:30:05.000 Just two states.
00:30:08.000 Look, we need leadership from everyone.
00:30:11.000 If some governors aren't willing to do the right thing to beat this pandemic, then they should allow businesses and universities who want to do the right thing to be able to do it.
00:30:22.000 I say to these governors, please help.
00:30:24.000 But if you aren't going to help, at least get out of the way.
00:30:28.000 The people are trying to do the right thing.
00:30:30.000 Oh, they're trying to do the right thing.
00:30:32.000 Oh, Joe Biden, what a stellar, stellar example of a man trying to do the right thing.
00:30:36.000 Well, Ron DeSantis was not taking the sitting down.
00:30:39.000 He went directly back at Biden, which, by the way, is one of the reasons he's so popular among Republicans.
00:30:43.000 He went back at him.
00:30:44.000 Just I mean, just face planted him.
00:30:46.000 So he did a press conference yesterday in which he in which he said, listen, Mr. President, you seem very intense on masking people up and locking them down.
00:30:54.000 And if you are interested in renewed lockdowns, I will stand in your way.
00:30:58.000 By the way, this is a political battle that is very bad for Joe Biden.
00:31:01.000 Joe Biden right now is sinking his own political approval rating because Americans are highly pessimistic about the future of the virus.
00:31:07.000 They're pessimistic about the ability of government to stop it.
00:31:09.000 They're pessimistic about Joe Biden's presidency now.
00:31:12.000 And Ron DeSantis knows this.
00:31:14.000 This is not a good battle for Joe Biden to pick.
00:31:16.000 He picked the wrong guy to pick on.
00:31:18.000 Here was DeSantis face planting him yesterday.
00:31:20.000 If you're coming after the rights of parents in Florida, I'm standing in your way.
00:31:24.000 I'm not going to let you get away with it.
00:31:26.000 If you're trying to deny kids a proper in-person education, I'm going to stand in your way, and I'm going to stand up for the kids in Florida.
00:31:34.000 If you're trying to restrict people, impose mandates, if you're trying to ruin their jobs and their livelihoods and their small business, if you are trying to lock people down, I am standing in your way, and I'm standing for the people of Florida.
00:31:48.000 Now the problem for the left is that they wish that DeSantis was some sort of anti-vax advocate.
00:31:54.000 DeSantis has been super pro-vaccination.
00:31:56.000 DeSantis' state trenched out the vaccinations based on age, while the CDC was telling people not to.
00:32:02.000 DeSantis has been pushing vaccinations extremely hard, but DeSantis does recognize something that the rest of us should also recognize, which is that for public policy purposes, this pandemic is no longer in the hands of the government.
00:32:14.000 Everybody who wants to be vaccinated has now been vaccinated.
00:32:17.000 If you want to get vaccinated tomorrow, that can be your lucky day because every day can be your lucky day.
00:32:22.000 We all have the ability to get the vaccine at this point, which means government no longer has a role here.
00:32:27.000 DeSantis knows this.
00:32:28.000 DeSantis doubled down on this.
00:32:30.000 He says, listen, we're not going to be Dr. Fauci's biomedical security state.
00:32:33.000 That's not how we make decisions here in the state of Florida.
00:32:36.000 And so I think the question is, is we can either have a free society or we can have a biomedical security state.
00:32:43.000 And I can tell you, Florida, we're a free state.
00:32:46.000 People are going to be free to choose to make their own decisions about themselves, about their families, about their kids' education, and about putting food on the table.
00:32:56.000 Okay, DeSantis didn't stop there.
00:32:57.000 He pointed out that it's kind of weird that Joe Biden is singling out Florida because Florida ranks middle of the pack in terms of deaths per million and is the second oldest state in the Union after the great state of Maine, which has approximately seven old people in a moose.
00:33:10.000 Here is DeSantis saying it's weird that Joe Biden would single out Florida.
00:33:14.000 Joe Biden has taken to himself to try to single out Florida over COVID.
00:33:21.000 This is a guy who ran for president saying he was going to, quote, shut down the virus.
00:33:25.000 And what has he done?
00:33:27.000 He's imported more virus from around the world by having a wide open southern border.
00:33:32.000 You have hundreds of thousands of people pouring across every month.
00:33:36.000 And it's not just from Mexico.
00:33:37.000 In fact, it's rarely from Mexico.
00:33:39.000 You have over 100 different countries where people are pouring through Okay, and he is exactly right about that.
00:33:52.000 DeSantis continued along those lines.
00:33:54.000 He says, listen, why don't you do your job?
00:33:56.000 You're saying I'm not doing my job?
00:33:57.000 How about you do your job?
00:33:58.000 Like secure the southern border instead of shipping people with COVID into communities like McAllen, Texas.
00:34:04.000 Why don't you do your job?
00:34:06.000 Why don't you get this border secure?
00:34:08.000 And until you do that, I don't want to hear a blip about COVID from you.
00:34:13.000 Thank you.
00:34:14.000 OK, correct.
00:34:15.000 Correct.
00:34:16.000 OK, so there's a reason why Biden is running a little bit scared of Ron DeSantis at this point.
00:34:24.000 And there is, again, a reason why the Biden administration is targeting one governor above all the other governors.
00:34:28.000 And that is because DeSantis is the governor of a swing state.
00:34:31.000 He's pretty popular down here.
00:34:33.000 And he's been doing a very, very good job.
00:34:36.000 By the way, and points to DeSantis for standing strong on this stuff.
00:34:40.000 There are other governors who are not, like Asa Hutchinson, who's the Republican governor of Arkansas.
00:34:44.000 He had signed into law a bill banning mask mandates.
00:34:48.000 And now he says, I wish I hadn't signed that bill.
00:34:50.000 He's trying to backtrack that.
00:34:52.000 I don't know, for the love of the media or something, because here is the record on mask mandates.
00:34:56.000 There is no evidence that mask mandates are successful anywhere.
00:35:01.000 There's no correlative evidence that demonstrates that mask mandates cause people to mask up in vast numbers, as opposed to just virus spreading in a particular community.
00:35:10.000 There's no evidence that mask mandates have any real impact on human behavior, generally speaking, because there's no way to enforce them.
00:35:17.000 Nonetheless, here's Asa Hutchinson trying to please the Democrats, which of course is always a fool's errand.
00:35:22.000 Well, I signed it at the time because our cases were at a very low point.
00:35:27.000 I knew that it would be overridden by the legislature if I didn't sign it, and I was not supportive of... I'd already eliminated our statewide mask mandate.
00:35:39.000 And so, you know, I signed it for those reasons, that our cases were at a low point.
00:35:44.000 Everything has changed now.
00:35:46.000 And yes, in hindsight, I wish that had not become law.
00:35:50.000 But it is the law, and the only chance we have is either to amend it or for the courts to say that it has an unconstitutional foundation.
00:35:59.000 Okay, even scientists like Scott Gottlieb are saying that masks themselves, when it comes to the Delta variants, are not going to be the key method of killing the virus's spread.
00:36:10.000 The key method of killing the virus's spread is going to be Vaccination.
00:36:14.000 That's it.
00:36:14.000 By the way, we've already hit the downslope of R for Delta in states including Arkansas, apparently, as well as Missouri.
00:36:22.000 And soon we'll hit it in Florida.
00:36:24.000 And it'll be fun to watch how it just disappears from the media's radar.
00:36:26.000 How the media will have been, look at this terrible surge in Florida.
00:36:28.000 It's so terrible.
00:36:29.000 It's the end of the world.
00:36:30.000 And then we'll hit the downside of the surge and we'll move on.
00:36:33.000 And then in the winter, there will be a surge in New York because it will get cold outside and people will go indoors and the media will just kind of ignore it.
00:36:41.000 And the truth is that the lack of understanding of basic human behavior by the media is pretty astonishing.
00:36:48.000 And the willingness to believe the myth that the only people who are not vaccinating at this point are kooky Fox News watchers.
00:36:54.000 That's also really weird.
00:36:55.000 We'll get to that in just one second because there is one, it's the clip of the day.
00:36:59.000 Okay, it is from a Boston mayor.
00:37:01.000 Her name is Kim Janey.
00:37:02.000 She's the black interim mayor because she took the place of somebody who joined the Biden administration.
00:37:09.000 And this black Democratic mayor of Boston is saying things about vaccine mandates that are significantly wilder than anything Republicans are saying, but I don't see Joe Biden attacking her.
00:37:18.000 And there's a reason for that.
00:37:20.000 And it's openly political.
00:37:21.000 We'll get to that in just one moment.
00:37:22.000 First, even when the world is falling apart, there is one thing that is in your control.

00:41:04.000 Tell the podcast platforms Conservative News belongs at number one on the charts.
00:41:07.000 You are listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:41:17.000 Now you may have noticed that Joe Biden is attacking Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott and only Republican governors.
00:41:22.000 But what's weird is that there are some Democrats who are pretty darned hesitant about things like vaccine mandates and vaccine passports.
00:41:30.000 One of those people is the current mayor of Boston, a woman named Kim Jadie.
00:41:34.000 She of course took over for the former mayor, Marty Walsh, who left to become Secretary of Labor under Joe Biden.
00:41:41.000 She is currently running for a full term.
00:41:43.000 And Kim Janey, she got pretty damn spicy about all of this.
00:41:47.000 She got very, very angry, I think rightly so, about some of the vaccine mandate stuff.
00:41:53.000 But she's using language that is very, I mean, when I say spicy, I'm talking about like she took out like the full package of pepper and just tossed it right on top of this.
00:42:03.000 Here was Kim Janey, the mayor of Boston, a hardcore Democrat.
00:42:06.000 There's a long history in this country of people needing to show their papers during slavery, post slavery, as recent as, you know, what an immigrant population has to go through here.
00:42:22.000 We heard Trump with the birth certificate nonsense.
00:42:25.000 Here, we want to make sure that we are not doing anything that would further create a barrier for residents.
00:42:32.000 Okay, and this is my favorite.
00:42:33.000 She says, anything that would further create a barrier for residents of Boston or disproportionately impact BIPOC communities.
00:42:41.000 BIPOC communities are people of color.
00:42:43.000 Okay, so she's now comparing vaccine passports to slavery.
00:42:49.000 That's what she's doing.
00:42:50.000 And she's also saying that it disproportionately impacts black people.
00:42:54.000 That's kind of an amazing statement.
00:42:56.000 I don't see Joe Biden going after her.
00:42:58.000 Where is Joe Biden?
00:42:58.000 Why isn't he saying, you need to get out of the way.
00:43:01.000 Either do the right thing or get out of the way.
00:43:03.000 Weird.
00:43:03.000 He's not taking on the Democrat who's saying this, I noticed.
00:43:06.000 Also, I've noticed very little from the Biden administration about how do you convince the disproportionate number of black people who have not gotten vaccinated to get vaccinated.
00:43:16.000 And I've said before, I think it's going to be a lot of fun to watch Bill de Blasio, and now they're talking about doing this in LA by the way, watch Bill de Blasio try to ban some 70% of black people from being able to go to restaurants.
00:43:28.000 Because that's what the vaccine passport does.
00:43:31.000 70% of black people in New York City are not vaccinated.
00:43:35.000 By far the highest rate of non-vaccination among any demographic group in New York City.
00:43:41.000 So what happens when suddenly black people can't go to restaurants and can't go to gyms and can't go to indoor spaces, can't go to a Yankee game?
00:43:47.000 How does he think that's going to work out for him?
00:43:49.000 The entire Democratic Party has forwarded the lie that disparate impact means that discrimination has taken place.
00:43:56.000 So I could easily say something like, well, you know what?
00:43:59.000 If it's a neutral rule, Then whether it disproportionately impacts one group of people or not really makes no difference.
00:44:06.000 It's a neutral rule, right?
00:44:08.000 But Democrats don't have that foot to stand on.
00:44:10.000 They can't say that.
00:44:11.000 If Democrats were to acknowledge that personal behavior is responsible for its own consequences, then they couldn't make the case that they are constantly making about America's evil racism.
00:44:21.000 Which they're always blaming for every disparity in American life.
00:44:25.000 From wealth and income inequality, to single motherhood, to drug abuse.
00:44:30.000 They're constantly attempting to chalk up every disparity in American life to systemic racism.
00:44:35.000 So how do they run away from this one exactly?
00:44:37.000 That's what I find so amusing here.
00:44:39.000 When Kim Janey says that any policy that disproportionately impacts BIPOC communities must of course be discriminatory.
00:44:46.000 And she's talking about vaccine passports?
00:44:48.000 Get ready, gang, because that is going to be the left's line, and it's going to be fun to watch the left eat the left.
00:44:53.000 Of course, the left could just take multiple positions at the same time.
00:44:56.000 They're fond of doing that.
00:44:58.000 In fact, that's exactly what AOC, the estimable, irrepressible, so fresh, so face, AOC has been doing.
00:45:05.000 So yesterday, she was caught on tape doing a photo op with her face mask on, and then immediately after the cameras are off, she's like, yeah, this mask is stupid, and I'm not wearing it anymore.
00:45:14.000 It was kind of funny.
00:45:21.000 She's fine.
00:45:22.000 She's not wearing a mask.
00:45:22.000 She puts on a mask just for the photo.
00:45:24.000 One, two, three.
00:45:25.000 How does it feel to be a free lady?
00:45:27.000 Woo!
00:45:28.000 Thanks guys.
00:45:29.000 Everybody.
00:45:30.000 You look like you.
00:45:31.000 Ha!
00:45:32.000 Whoops.
00:45:33.000 No mask.
00:45:34.000 Whoopsie doodle.
00:45:35.000 How does it feel to be a free lady?
00:45:36.000 Woo!
00:45:37.000 Thanks guys.
00:45:38.000 Whoopsie-doodle.
00:45:40.000 Just like she is constantly talking about income inequality, but then she parks her Tesla illegally outside the Whole Foods.
00:45:47.000 She is.
00:45:48.000 The rules never apply to the special people, as we say over and over and over again.
00:45:52.000 Okay, well I did want to bring you one piece of news that I personally found highly amusing and I wanted to give you an update on.
00:45:59.000 So, yesterday Axios reported that Politico's newsroom is now attempting to unionize with the News Guild.
00:46:07.000 Okay, so this means that Politico's staff apparently are now joining, like, the New York Times and a bunch of other left-wing publications in attempting to unionize, which is usually really bad for business.
00:46:18.000 Okay, usually it means that you are artificially increasing the labor rate.
00:46:22.000 It means that you are artificially increasing the benefits.
00:46:25.000 It means that you're costing the company more money, which generally tends to remove from the bottom line and crimp growth, right?
00:46:30.000 This is why so many private sector unions have basically dismantled at this point.
00:46:35.000 But apparently, the Politico staffers are apparently very, very into forming a union.
00:46:40.000 Here is the part that I love the most.
00:46:42.000 Okay, this is pretty spectacular.
00:46:44.000 According to Axios, organizers are currently trying to gather signatures for a statement to present to management in the coming weeks, asking for recognition of the union.
00:46:51.000 The union drive covers employees of Politico and E&E News, an energy and environment trade publication Politico acquired last year, according to a Politico staffer.
00:47:01.000 Politico added about 65 reporters and editors via that deal.
00:47:04.000 There are about 375 editorial staffers at both Politico and E&E total.
00:47:10.000 So, what drove all of this?
00:47:13.000 According to Axios, sources say several factors have pushed employees to seek union support when bartering with management, including the company's handling of internal pushback against having Daily Wire editor Ben Shapiro guest host Politico's flagship newsletter product playbook earlier this year.
00:47:27.000 Remember earlier this year, they asked me to write their playbook, right?
00:47:30.000 It's like a kind of obscure insider Washington DC newsletter.
00:47:34.000 I wrote it, like Don Lemon had written it the same week.
00:47:36.000 They just had basically a rotation of various political actors writing the political playbook.
00:47:41.000 I wrote it.
00:47:42.000 200 staffers got on the phone with the bosses.
00:47:44.000 Apparently, this provided the impetus for unionization at Politico.
00:47:47.000 And let me just say, I couldn't be happier.
00:47:49.000 I couldn't be happier.
00:47:49.000 Last year, the National Labor Relations Board accused me of being too anti-union and tried to file some sort of lawsuit against me.
00:47:56.000 That ended up going away pretty quickly.
00:47:59.000 But let me just say, I'm very pro this union.
00:48:02.000 In fact, I'm happy to be the Politico employee union rep.
00:48:05.000 I'm like the Samuel Gompers of Politico.
00:48:08.000 And I take my rightful mantle here as the union leader over at Politico.
00:48:13.000 I'm amused that my very presence in Politico allowed for the development of the possibility of a union over there.
00:48:21.000 Man.
00:48:23.000 All I do is apparently just, like, accidentally destroy left-wing institutions.
00:48:27.000 All I do.
00:48:29.000 Pretty spectacular stuff.
00:48:30.000 All righty.
00:48:30.000 We'll be back here later today with an additional hour of content coming up soon.

00:49:13.000 Wake up every morning with our new show, Morning Wire.
00:49:16.000 On today's episode, we speak to Dr. Marty Makary about whether mask and vaccine mandates are backed up by the evidence, backlash builds against Andrew Cuomo, and an Olympic athlete flees Belarus.
