The Ben Shapiro Show - Bloodbath For The Democrats | Ep. 1368

00:00:00.000 Democrats go down to flaming defeat in Virginia, Minnesota defund the police implodes, and a Democratic Socialist loses to a write-in candidate in Buffalo.

00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:08.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:10.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.

00:00:17.000 Your data is your business protected at expressvpn.com slash Ben.

00:00:21.000 Speaking of which, how did you choose which internet service provider you wanted to use?

00:00:25.000 Well, the thing is, most of us have very little choice because ISPs operate basically like monopolies in the regions they serve.

00:00:30.000 Worst of all, many ISPs log your internet activity and then sell that data to other big tech companies or advertisers.

00:00:36.000 To prevent ISPs from seeing my internet activity, I protect all my devices, as you know, with ExpressVPN.

00:00:42.000 So what is ExpressVPN, you ask?

00:00:44.000 Great question.

00:00:45.000 It's a simple app for your computer or smartphone.

00:00:46.000 It encrypts all your network data.

00:00:48.000 It tunnels it through a secure VPN server so your ISP can't see your activity.

00:00:52.000 Think about how much of your life is on the internet.

00:00:53.000 Your credit card numbers, all your phone numbers, address it, like everything you need is on the internet.

00:00:59.000 Why would you Just put that data out there for anyone to grab.

00:01:02.000 That's the reason I recommend ExpressVPN.

00:01:04.000 It's the best way to hide your online activity from your ISP as well as hackers and anybody else who wants it.

00:01:08.000 You just download the app, you tap one button on your device, and you are now protected.

00:01:11.000 ExpressVPN does all of that without slowing your connection, which is important to me since I run an internet-based company.

00:01:16.000 So, stop handing over your personal data to ISPs and other tech giants who mine your activity and sell off your information.

00:01:22.000 Protect yourself with the VPN I trust to keep me private online.

00:01:35.000 Okay, so, Democrats, not great last night.

00:01:39.000 Not great, Bob, at all.

00:01:42.000 So Democrats went down to flaming, ferocious defeat in Virginia.

00:01:47.000 It was just a bloodbath, a brutal, sickening bloodbath, and very upsetting.

00:01:53.000 I'm just all broken up about it.

00:01:55.000 Now remember, Joe Biden had predicted massive victory while he was in Glasgow yesterday.

00:02:00.000 It turns out that Joe Biden couldn't be woken up to deliver the actual bad news this morning.

00:02:06.000 But here he was yesterday trying to trying to say that everything is going to go great in Virginia last night.

00:02:10.000 It did not go great in Virginia.

00:02:12.000 Spoiler alert.

00:02:14.000 We're going to win.

00:02:15.000 I think we're going to win in Virginia.

00:02:19.000 And you know, you're reporting it being close.

00:02:22.000 The race is very close.

00:02:23.000 It's about who shows up, who turns out.

00:02:27.000 And granted, I did win by a large margin.

00:02:30.000 But the point of the matter is that I think that this is going to be, we all knew from the beginning, this is going to be a tight race.

00:02:38.000 Okay, we didn't all know that from the beginning.

00:02:40.000 If you look at the polls, Glenn Youngkin was down like double digits at the beginning of this race, and then he won last night by a fairly solid margin.

00:02:46.000 According to the New York Times, Republicans claimed the governorship of Virginia for the first time in more than a decade on Wednesday, electing businessman Glenn Youngkin and presenting their party with a formula for how to exploit President Biden's vulnerabilities and evade the shadow of Donald Trump in Democratic-leaning states.

00:03:00.000 Youngkin 54, a wealthy former private equity executive making his first run for office, elevated education and taxes while projecting a suburban dad demeanor to demonstrate he was different from Trump without saying so.

00:03:09.000 Outright, he defeated former Governor Terry McCullough, a Democrat who, with Trump out of office, struggled to generate enthusiasm among liberals at a moment when conservatives are energized in opposition to Mr. Biden.

00:03:20.000 This race was called pretty much off the bat.

00:03:22.000 By fairly early last night, people knew that Youngkin was going to win.

00:03:26.000 And it wasn't just that Republicans won with Youngkin at the top of the ticket.

00:03:30.000 They also won the Lieutenant Governor's race in Virginia.

00:03:32.000 They won the Attorney General's race in Virginia.

00:03:34.000 And in fact, they elected the first black female Lieutenant Governor in the history of the state of Virginia.

00:03:42.000 I believe the first Hispanic AG in the history of the state of Virginia, which means, as we'll see, that the Republicans, again, demonstrating their vicious, brutal white supremacy in the oddest of ways by electing a very diverse slate of candidates to higher office.

00:03:55.000 Meanwhile, by the way, over in New Jersey, in New Jersey, it is a dead heat right now between the Republican gubernatorial candidate, Jack Schiarelli, who no one knew who he was or knows who he is today.

00:04:07.000 Against Phil Murphy, who is the widely touted governor of New Jersey, who's Captain COVID over there.

00:04:12.000 He locked down pretty much everything, and he was supposed to run away with that race. 1.00

00:04:16.000 The polls showed that he was up by near double digits, not like months ago, like McAuliffe was, and then the race tightened.

00:04:21.000 He was up double digits pretty much a week ago.

00:04:23.000 He was up eight in the RealClearPolitics polling average yesterday.

00:04:27.000 And now that race is so deadlocked, it's going to go to recount.

00:04:31.000 According to the New York Times, no less bracing for Democrats was a second gubernatorial election unfolding in New Jersey.

00:04:36.000 The incumbent governor, Philip Murphy, was narrowly trailing a relatively obscure Republican challenger, Jack Schuetterelli, deep into the night.

00:04:43.000 A mainstream liberal with ties to the White House, Murphy was staking his hopes for a comeback on a strong performance in several solidly Democratic areas where votes were slow to report.

00:04:51.000 Again, about 98% of the vote in at this point, and it's pretty much dead heat.

00:04:56.000 The unexpected closeness of the race underscored the overall vulnerability of the Democratic Party.

00:05:00.000 Much like Mr. Youngkin in Virginia, Mr. Seattarelli appeared to benefit from robust turnout in rural and conservative-leaning areas of the state while making inroads in denser areas such as Bergen County, the populous suburb of New York City.

00:05:12.000 Unlike Youngkin, Schiattarelli, a former state legislator, had no vast personal fortune to spend on his candidacy.

00:05:18.000 National Republicans looked at his campaign as an extreme long shot.

00:05:22.000 Even if Murphy were to prevail, it's going to be by a minute fraction.

00:05:26.000 Remember, Joe Biden won the state of New Jersey by 16 points.

00:05:29.000 16 points.

00:05:30.000 Joe Biden won the state of Virginia by 10 points.

00:05:34.000 Brutal.

00:05:35.000 So Youngkin in Virginia, he said, today we are going to change the trajectory of this Commonwealth.

00:05:35.000 Brutal.

00:05:40.000 Meanwhile, McAuliffe refused to concede as of late last night.

00:05:44.000 Instead, he just went out and did like a weird little dance.

00:05:46.000 It was very, very strange.

00:05:48.000 Bottom line is, terrible news in Virginia for the Democratic Party.

00:05:53.000 And if you look at the internals on the poll numbers, they're just, I mean, horrifying for the Democrats.

00:05:58.000 Loudoun County, right?

00:05:59.000 That is a Democratic county.

00:06:00.000 There was a 19 point swing to the GOP in Loudoun County.

00:06:04.000 And here I must give a shout out to the Daily Wire's own reporter, Luke Rosiak, who's been doing unbelievable reporting from on the ground in Loudoun County.

00:06:10.000 And he is the person who uncovered this massive scandal where in the school board of Loudoun County was essentially covering up the rape of a student in their bathroom while promoting a transgender bathroom bill.

00:06:22.000 And turns out there are all sorts of other issues with malfeasance by the school board in that district.

00:06:27.000 And that county swung 19 percentage points toward Republicans in this election cycle.

00:06:32.000 So investigative reporting matters.

00:06:34.000 You should head on over to dailywire.com slash subscribe and use code REALNEWS to get 25% off.

00:06:39.000 Honestly, support our investigative reporting efforts.

00:06:40.000 They really do make a difference.

00:06:41.000 Also, shout out to Christopher Rufo, who did an unbelievable job covering critical race theory across the country, as well, specifically in Virginia.

00:06:49.000 As we will see, Democrats, their plan is just to deny that they are radical at all, and then to call everyone who notices a racist.

00:06:55.000 So 19-point swing in Loudoun County.

00:06:58.000 Also, McAuliffe, according to Sahil Kapoor, who's a national political reporter at NBC News, McAuliffe, the Democrat, he ran a bit ahead of Biden among the non-white voters in Virginia.

00:07:09.000 He ran ahead of Biden among those voters.

00:07:12.000 He got absolutely clocked by white women. 1.00

00:07:16.000 In 2020, white women went for Biden. 0.98

00:07:18.000 50 to 49.

00:07:19.000 It wasn't a bigger margin because a lot of rural and non-college educated white women went for Trump. 1.00

00:07:24.000 So it was 50 to 49 for Biden in Virginia in 2020.

00:07:29.000 Virginia 2021.

00:07:30.000 Youngkin, 57.

00:07:33.000 McAuliffe, 43.

00:07:34.000 That is a 15 point swing to the GOP with that group.

00:07:38.000 That is particularly among white women who are non-college graduates. 1.00

00:07:42.000 In 2020, 56% of white women who are non-college graduates went for Trump, 44% went to Biden. 0.98

00:07:47.000 Okay, so that was a split in favor of Trump, but a lot evener than last night.

00:07:52.000 Last night, 75% for Youngkin, 25% from McAuliffe, among white women who are non-college educated.

00:07:59.000 Okay, what does that say?

00:08:02.000 It says that when you have someone who is not quite as offensive at the top of a particular ticket, that you can win back all of those suburban white women. 1.00

00:08:09.000 You can hold the Trump coalition, which is what Youngkin did. 0.86

00:08:11.000 He didn't crap on Trump. 0.63

00:08:12.000 He didn't spend the campaign crapping on Trump instead.

00:08:15.000 He said he appreciated a lot of things about Trump.

00:08:17.000 But he also didn't humor a lot of Trump's more absurd contentions.

00:08:20.000 And then he made the issues not about Trump.

00:08:22.000 He just avoided making the election about Trump.

00:08:24.000 And he swamped Terry McAuliffe, particularly with white women. 0.86

00:08:28.000 We'll get to more of the poll analysis in just one second because it's really fascinating and it does spell a way forward for Republicans moving forward first.

00:09:34.000 Again, that's xchairshapiro.com.

00:09:37.000 Okay, back to some of these exit polling numbers.

00:09:40.000 Just brutal for the Democrats.

00:09:42.000 On the economy and jobs, 35% of voters in the Virginia election said that was their top issue, the economy and jobs.

00:09:49.000 Youngkin won that group 63 to 36.

00:09:53.000 On the issue of education, which was the number three issue among these exit voters, 15% of people said it was their number one issue.

00:10:02.000 71% won for Youngkin.

00:10:04.000 Hey, that is Luke's reporting.

00:10:04.000 71 to 29.

00:10:07.000 That is Chris Ruffo's reporting.

00:10:09.000 That is people who are pointing out what exactly is being taught to your kids in schools.

00:10:11.000 That is not a Virginia issue, by the way.

00:10:13.000 That is a national issue.

00:10:14.000 And if Republicans don't hold on to that, if they don't point out, I've been saying this literally since I began my career, the indoctrination of children in public schools is a disaster area for the country.

00:10:23.000 If Republicans run on the curriculum, they are going to win because parents don't actually know what kids are being taught.

00:10:28.000 Okay, so on the economy and jobs, Youngkin outpaces McCall of 63 to 36.

00:10:32.000 On education, he outpaces McCall of 71 to 29.

00:10:37.000 On coronavirus, McAuliffe wins 78 to 22, but no one cares about that anymore because basically this is all over.

00:10:43.000 Among people who said racism was their number one issue, unsurprisingly, McAuliffe won 84 to 15.

00:10:48.000 On abortion, only 5% of people said it was their top issue, but 56% of those people actually voted for Junkin.

00:10:54.000 So all of the anti-choice, he's an anti-choice radical who's gonna stop abortion, that actually cut in Junkin's favor.

00:11:01.000 On immigration, 94% to 5 in favor of Junkin.

00:11:05.000 You can see exactly why Junkin won right here.

00:11:09.000 How bad were the exit polls for Democrats here?

00:11:12.000 I'm going to go by group here.

00:11:15.000 So among 18 to 44 men, Junkin was competitive.

00:11:20.000 He only lost to McCullough 52 to 47.

00:11:23.000 Among men aged 45 plus, 58 to 42 for Junkin.

00:11:28.000 Among Latinos and Hispanics, In Virginia, Youngkin won outright, 54 to 45.

00:11:34.000 He also won 13% of the black vote and 58% of the white vote.

00:11:39.000 Devastating numbers for the Democrats.

00:11:41.000 Plus, as Nate Cohn points out over at the New York Times, Biden has nearly the worst approval ratings of any president on record at this stage of his presidency.

00:11:49.000 The worst approval ratings of any president on record at this stage of his presidency.

00:11:54.000 Okay, so a few takeaways right here.

00:11:56.000 Okay, number one, it turns out that telling your voters to vote is actually a better strategy than telling your voters not to vote.

00:12:02.000 Republicans in those Georgia Senate races at the beginning of this year, they basically told their voters your vote doesn't matter and then people didn't show up and then Republicans lost in what is a red state.

00:12:11.000 Okay, Virginia is a very blue state and Republicans said you should show up and you should vote and your vote counts.

00:12:16.000 And whether or not you are concerned about voter fraud, the best way to win is to go and vote.

00:12:22.000 And focusing in on, are they gonna steal it?

00:12:24.000 Is it gonna be stolen?

00:12:25.000 Is your vote gonna count?

00:12:26.000 Is a bad way of running an election cycle.

00:12:28.000 It is a bad idea moving forward.

00:12:29.000 Okay, point number two.

00:12:31.000 Run against the Democrats.

00:12:33.000 As always, run against the Democrats.

00:12:34.000 Make the Democrats your opponent.

00:12:35.000 I said this throughout 2020.

00:12:37.000 If people had thought that Joe Biden was the issue, Joe Biden would have lost.

00:12:40.000 They thought Trump was the issue, and so Trump lost.

00:12:40.000 They didn't.

00:12:42.000 In Virginia, people thought Terry McAuliffe and the Democrats were the issue, so Youngkin won.

00:12:46.000 If the election is about your opponent, your opponent loses.

00:12:46.000 It's that simple.

00:12:49.000 Terry McAuliffe tried to do that to Junkin, and he completely failed because Junkin is inoffensive.

00:12:53.000 Junkin does not make people feel uncomfortable.

00:12:56.000 Junkin makes it very... Junkin did what good candidates do.

00:12:59.000 He made it very difficult to vote for his opponent, and he made it very easy to vote for him.

00:13:04.000 That is what good candidates do.

00:13:05.000 Bad candidates make it easy to vote for your opponent and difficult to vote for you.

00:13:09.000 That's what a bad candidate does.

00:13:10.000 That's what Terry McAuliffe did. 0.99

00:13:12.000 He went out there like a fool and he said parents should not be in control of their children's education and then he kept doubling down on that while campaigning with Randy Weingarten. 0.98

00:13:19.000 He kept telling parents that they are racist if they mention the phrase critical race theory. 0.99

00:13:23.000 He kept saying over and over and over again that parents should not determine whether or not they are indoctrinated.

00:13:28.000 Their kids are indoctrinated with LGBTQ propaganda in schools.

00:13:31.000 That's up to the school boards.

00:13:33.000 That is it.

00:13:34.000 He made it very difficult for people to vote for him.

00:13:36.000 And he made it very easy for people to vote for Junkin. 0.93

00:13:38.000 He just kept shouting that Junkin was a racist Trumpkin. 0.87

00:13:43.000 He kept saying it over and over. 0.93

00:13:44.000 And it just didn't wash.

00:13:45.000 Because Junkin isn't.

00:13:47.000 And so Junkin won.

00:13:50.000 These are major lessons that Republicans need to take for the future if they hope to continue winning.

00:13:54.000 Also, further lessons.

00:13:56.000 Republicans should not shy away from the culture wars. 0.96

00:13:58.000 So I know that there's the smart set in Republican politics who are constantly saying that the culture wars are a dummies, it's a dummies game. 0.51

00:14:04.000 Why are you arguing on culture?

00:14:05.000 The answer is culture motivates people.

00:14:07.000 Culture gets people up in the morning.

00:14:09.000 How your kids are educated in schools matters a lot more to people than their marginal tax rate.

00:14:14.000 I care a hell of a lot about my marginal tax rate.

00:14:15.000 It makes a big difference in my life.

00:14:17.000 But I can tell you, how my kids are educated in school matters one million times more than that.

00:14:22.000 When Republicans abandon the social issues, when they pretend the social issues don't matter, or they are a distraction from the main issues, this is sort of how Romney ran his campaign in 2012.

00:14:30.000 They lose.

00:14:32.000 Romney did not run against Barack Obama's radicalism in 2012.

00:14:37.000 He ran against his economic plan.

00:14:38.000 That is not how you win.

00:14:39.000 The way that you win is by pointing out the social radicalism of your political opponents and presenting a good economic plan, which is what Youngkin did.

00:14:48.000 Also, this race made clear that Republicans can indeed keep together the Trump coalition and they don't have to have all of the bad tweets to go along with it.

00:14:58.000 Kristen Soltis-Anderson, who's a pollster for the Washington, she has a piece for the Washington Examiner.

00:15:02.000 She points out, Youngkin got all the upside of Trump, but none of the downside.

00:15:06.000 She says, there's little doubt Trump will try to take credit for Youngkin's victory.

00:15:09.000 To be clear, Trump quite literally phoned it in at the last minute for Youngkin after enough polls showed victory was in sight.

00:15:14.000 Youngkin and Trump did not donate to each other.

00:15:16.000 Youngkin said the bare minimum about Trump necessary to survive the primary process.

00:15:20.000 What Trump did do over the last five years was engage many formerly disconnected voters and turn them into more habitual voters for the GOP.

00:15:26.000 So that was good, what Trump did.

00:15:28.000 He continues to have an impact on politics by turning out the vote in rural areas, just by having activated people who are now used to voting.

00:15:35.000 That's a big thing.

00:15:37.000 Youngkin's savvy move was not to embrace Trump, but also not to insult Trump or disavow him.

00:15:41.000 He was not about being pro or anti-Trump.

00:15:43.000 He was about not being Trump.

00:15:44.000 He was about being Youngkin. 0.86

00:15:47.000 And biggest lesson of all right now, Republicans have a target-rich environment.

00:15:51.000 The Democrats are an absolute mess. 0.99

00:15:52.000 They're a mess. 1.00

00:15:55.000 Joe Biden is a disaster area. 0.99

00:15:56.000 And again, it wasn't just in Virginia. 0.90

00:15:58.000 It's all over the country.

00:15:59.000 It's all over the country.

00:16:00.000 I'm gonna give you some results from other areas of the country that really cut against the Democratic Party.

00:16:06.000 2022 is looking like an absolute wipeout for the Democrats.

00:16:10.000 I would not be surprised if Republicans pick up 40 to 50 seats in the House.

00:16:14.000 I certainly would not be surprised in this environment if Democrats lose the Senate outright.

00:16:17.000 We'll get to more on this in just one second.

00:16:19.000 First, If you're a homeowner who's been focused on your budget, focused on your future, focused on finding the right option to save money, I have something for you to consider.

00:17:14.000 NMLS 182334.

00:17:14.000 NMLSConsumerAccess.org.

00:17:15.000 Okay, so it wasn't just in Virginia.

00:17:15.000 721-3300, AmericanFinancing.net, and MLS 182334, and MLSconsumeraccess.org.

00:17:22.000 Okay, so it wasn't just in Virginia.

00:17:24.000 Again, in New Jersey, that is a dead heat in a state that is bluer than blue.

00:17:28.000 That state has been blue for a very long time.

00:17:31.000 Phil Murphy was expected to walk away with that race.

00:17:33.000 He is not walking away with that race. 0.99

00:17:35.000 Meanwhile, over in Pennsylvania, the GOP, as of last night, was poised to sweep all judicial appellate races.

00:17:42.000 According to PennLive.com, Republican Kevin Brobson edged out Democrat Maria McLaughlin to win a spot on Pennsylvania's highest court.

00:17:48.000 Unofficial election results early Wednesday showed Brobson, currently a Commonwealth Court judge, with 53% of the vote.

00:17:54.000 With Brobson's projected victory, Republicans will keep one of their two seats on the seven-member court.

00:17:59.000 There's another election looming.

00:18:01.000 The appellate courts were up for election, and all of them went Republican.

00:18:05.000 That's in Pennsylvania, again, which is a purple state at best.

00:18:09.000 Meanwhile, How bad was New Jersey for the Democrats last night?

00:18:13.000 New Jersey was so bad last night that the state senate president lost, apparently, to a guy who had a $200 budget and no campaign.

00:18:25.000 That's how bad it was for Democrats last night.

00:18:28.000 I mean, for God's sake, Democrats got wiped out in Long Island.

00:18:33.000 A red tide swept over Long Island, according to the New York Post, with the Republican candidates for district attorney in both Nassau and Suffolk counties winning their races in stunning landslides on Tuesday, turning the campaigns into referenda on New York's controversial bail reform law.

00:18:46.000 In Nassau, career local prosecutor Ann Donnelly upset Democratic State Senator Todd Kaminsky, a former federal prosecutor who voted for a 2019 law eliminating cash bail.

00:18:55.000 Donnelly, who is deputy chief of the Nassau DA's Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau, won 60% to 40% for Kaminsky.

00:19:00.000 That's a 20-point blowout.

00:19:04.000 And so Nassau and Suffolk both go Republican.

00:19:06.000 And it's in New York.

00:19:08.000 Meanwhile, over in Texas, Republican John Lugin won a special election runoff and flipped a Texas House seat in San Antonio.

00:19:16.000 That is a majority Hispanic district.

00:19:20.000 So again, look for a lot of Democratic retirements coming up, guys.

00:19:24.000 This is a bad, bad night for Democrats all the way across the country.

00:19:29.000 Meanwhile in Minneapolis, you remember that time that defund the police was the big thing in Minneapolis because of George Floyd and Derek Chauvin?

00:19:36.000 Well, that was on the ballot last night and it went down to flaming defeat.

00:19:40.000 According to the New York Times, Minneapolis residents rejected an amendment on Tuesday that called for replacing the city's long troubled police department with a new Department of Public Safety.

00:19:48.000 The ballot item emerged from anger after a Minneapolis police officer murdered George Floyd last year, galvanizing residents who saw the policing system as irredeemably broken.

00:19:58.000 But the amendment's failure showed that even in a liberal city where skepticism of the police runs deep, many Americans are not prepared to get rid of the cops.

00:20:06.000 So, even in Minneapolis, people are like, nope, we are not going to do that.

00:20:11.000 In Buffalo, New York, there's a lot of talk about this particular mayoral race.

00:20:17.000 There's a lot of talk about this race because India Walton had been nominated as the actual Democratic candidate. 0.99

00:20:22.000 She was a socialist.

00:20:23.000 She was endorsed by Chuck Schumer and AOC.

00:20:26.000 An actual socialist, right?

00:20:28.000 And Chuck Schumer jumped on the bandwagon because he was afraid that AOC is going to run against him for the Senate in New York.

00:20:33.000 So India Walton had the upper hand. 0.97

00:20:34.000 She had the party's base of support.

00:20:37.000 She just got destroyed.

00:20:38.000 OK, the Buffalo mayor's race went to a guy who was a Democrat, was the incumbent, but who was not on the ballot.

00:20:47.000 He was a write-in candidate.

00:20:50.000 A write-in candidate beat the Democratic Socialist by almost 20 points in Buffalo.

00:20:56.000 Byron Brown said the people chose four more years of a Brown administration.

00:21:00.000 The people chose one of the greatest comeback stories in our history.

00:21:05.000 Meanwhile, India Walton said, I'm extremely proud of the campaign that we have run.

00:21:07.000 I'm looking forward to seeing the final results come in.

00:21:09.000 I'm looking forward to working with all of our current city electeds and all of the winners tonight.

00:21:15.000 A Walton mayoral win would have been a win for socialism.

00:21:19.000 Nope, just blown out in Buffalo.

00:21:24.000 In New York, obviously, Eric Adams won.

00:21:26.000 That's no shock.

00:21:27.000 But, of course, that was a city that had been moving away from the radicalism of Bill de Blasio in that city's primary elections.

00:21:34.000 So if you look across the country, it is hard to find a bright spot for Democrats.

00:21:38.000 And the Democrats have so many problems on their hands.

00:21:41.000 They have infighting inside their party.

00:21:43.000 They have no real direction as to which way their party wants to go.

00:21:47.000 And so the infighting has already gotten worse.

00:21:49.000 Like, a lot worse.

00:21:50.000 Here's the thing.

00:21:51.000 When they don't have Trump to unify their party, they got nothing.

00:21:54.000 Because this party doesn't know whether it wants to run down the giant government path trod by LBJ and Joe Biden or whether it wants to go the racial radical route that is pursued by the Squad.

00:22:04.000 They really don't know whether they want to be Clintonian or whether they want to be more along the lines of Obama.

00:22:10.000 Barack Obama coined a new strategy in 2012.

00:22:14.000 It was mobilize a bunch of quote-unquote dispossessed populations and aggregate those people together against the supposedly evil white majority. 0.51

00:22:24.000 That then he won in 2012 and Democrats ever since have been pursuing that model.

00:22:27.000 And in 2020 it worked out for them because they were running against Donald Trump and the media were able to savage Trump and block stories about Trump and Trump kept stepping on rakes.

00:22:35.000 And so they were able to win on that model, but they can't win on that model forever.

00:22:39.000 So they have a choice.

00:22:40.000 Do they go back to the Clintonian third way or do they continue to prop up utopian electoral dreams of Barack Obama at the cost of actual power?

00:22:50.000 That is a real battle going on inside the Democratic Party right now.

00:22:52.000 And it seems as though the radicals are poised to win it, which is good news for the Republicans.

00:22:57.000 If you're a Republican, you ought to be real happy with that.

00:22:58.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.

00:23:00.000 First, you've all heard about Policy Genius by now.

00:23:03.000 Did you know they can also help you save by bundling your home and auto insurance as well?

00:23:08.000 I mean, let's say that you are about to buy a house and you think, you know, what could happen to this house?

00:23:13.000 So, you know, you put a down payment on the house and then an airplane hits the house.

00:23:17.000 Well, you should have thought about home insurance probably.

00:23:20.000 It should have been like your first move when you bought the house.

00:23:22.000 This is where PolicyGenius can help.

00:23:24.000 PolicyGenius makes it easy to compare home and auto insurance in one place.

00:23:27.000 They can help you find home and auto coverage similar to what you have now, but at a lower price.

00:23:31.000 They've saved customers an average of $1,250 per year over what they were paying for home and auto insurance.

00:23:38.000 They save new customers an average of $435 per year on auto insurance.

00:23:41.000 They save new customers an average of $350 per year on home insurance.

00:23:44.000 And when you bundle them, you save a lot more.

00:23:46.000 Getting started is simple.

00:23:47.000 First, head on over to policygenius.com slash Shapiro home, answer a few quick questions about yourself and your property, and then policy genius will take it.

00:23:55.000 From there, they will compare the rates from America's top insurers from Progressive to Allstate and find you your lowest quotes.

00:24:00.000 Head on over to PolicyGenius.com slash ShapiroHome.

00:24:02.000 Get started right now.

00:24:04.000 PolicyGenius, when it comes to insurance, it's nice and important and responsible to get it right.

00:24:08.000 Alrighty, so the Democratic Party is in real trouble because they are not sure which way to turn.

00:24:15.000 And if they listen to MSNBC, they're gonna turn in the radical direction.

00:24:17.000 So first off, let me just say, there is nothing quite as joyous in life as watching media figures react to Republicans winning races.

00:24:25.000 Nothing quite as joyous.

00:24:26.000 So last night on CNN, we'll start with CNN.

00:24:29.000 Last night on CNN, John King was announcing the results in Virginia to Jake Tapper.

00:24:34.000 And Jake Tapper is all the media writ large right here.

00:24:39.000 This reaction is what the media thought last night.

00:24:43.000 Just about everywhere, Terry McAuliffe is underperforming Joe Biden.

00:24:46.000 So you say, okay, that's not fair.

00:24:48.000 That's a presidential year.

00:24:49.000 Is he underperforming Ralph Northam?

00:24:51.000 I began the night saying he can.

00:24:52.000 Ralph Northam won by eight, nine points.

00:24:54.000 The incumbent Democratic governor.

00:24:55.000 The incumbent governor.

00:24:56.000 So Terry McAuliffe can underperform him, as long as he doesn't underperform him by a ton.

00:25:00.000 This is your live vote right now.

00:25:02.000 Where are there counties where McAuliffe is underperforming Northam by more than ten points?

00:25:06.000 Oh my God.

00:25:07.000 By more than ten points, he is underperforming.

00:25:13.000 Meanwhile, Larry Sabato, who had declared pretty much that everybody who votes in favor of the Republicans is a white supremacist because they've been taken in and duped by the evil critical race theory narrative.

00:25:23.000 He was like, yeah, I'm hearing from the call of campaign.

00:25:25.000 It's just a bloodbath.

00:25:26.000 Again, there's nothing more fun for Republicans than turning on MSNBC on a bad night for Democrats.

00:25:31.000 I'm not going to call it a blowout because we don't have the final, final numbers.

00:25:36.000 But I will tell you somebody in high up in McCullough's camp that was there with McCullough put it this way to me about an hour ago.

00:25:45.000 It's a bloodbath.

00:25:47.000 And so far, everything we've seen pretty much falls along that line.

00:25:52.000 And while we don't have complete figures, anything close to complete figures for the House of Delegates, you can guess based on what I've just said.

00:26:02.000 Yeah, man.

00:26:03.000 So, it got so good at MSNBC.

00:26:06.000 Watching MSNBC was like watching several hours of just the last scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

00:26:13.000 Just when they opened the Ark, and suddenly, thoughts So last night, MSNBC host, remember, Terry McAuliffe lost this race because he decided that a great campaign strategy was to say that if you're worried about your child's education, it's because you're a homophobe.

00:26:39.000 Or if you're worried about critical race theory in schools, it's because you're a racist.

00:26:43.000 Or, if you were against the American Federation of Teachers, it's because you were some sort of horrible bigot and school boards needed to be in charge of your children, not you. 0.80

00:26:51.000 This was Terry McAuliffe's entire campaign. 1.00

00:26:53.000 And so, the idiots over at MSNBC, apparently their strategy is to just keep schtuping that chicken. 1.00

00:27:00.000 They're just gonna keep schtuping it. 1.00

00:27:01.000 So last night, MSNBC hosts decided it's not us who are wrong, it's the children who are wrong. 0.99

00:27:10.000 Here are the words of crying, dangerous, racist Republicans. 0.73

00:27:13.000 Now, I just want to point something out. 0.97

00:27:16.000 These racist Republicans elected last night a lieutenant governor in Virginia named Winsome Sears. 0.99

00:27:22.000 She's a Marine veteran. 0.99

00:27:23.000 She also happens to be black. 1.00

00:27:25.000 Okay, so they elected a black woman as the lieutenant governor because they're vicious white supremacists. 1.00

00:27:31.000 They also elected an attorney general of Virginia who is a Cuban-American. 0.99

00:27:38.000 To replace a white guy, by the way.

00:27:40.000 The current incumbent AG is a white guy.

00:27:43.000 And they elected Glenn Youngkin to replace a current Democratic incumbent who was in a yearbook wearing either blackface or a KKK outfit.

00:27:50.000 We still don't know which.

00:27:52.000 Yes, it's the Republicans who are the white supremacists, clearly.

00:27:55.000 Here's MSNBC going with that narrative.

00:27:58.000 The question for Democrats is going to be almost Rumsfeldian.

00:28:02.000 Do you go on the campaign trail with the Republican Party you know you've got, that they lie, that they wander the Trump racism in fleece, that they have a propaganda network that reaches more people than any candidate's ads in any state election.

00:28:17.000 Do you adjust with this new propaganda, disinformation, fairly veiled dog whistle race stuff?

00:28:24.000 Or do you keep trying to fight on, you know, policy?

00:28:29.000 Oh yeah, because that was the race. 0.96

00:28:30.000 The race was Democrats trying to talk policy, and Republicans doing veiled dog whistles.

00:28:36.000 Except that critical race theory is taught in the schools, and they tried to play this gaslighting game for months on end.

00:28:41.000 You would point out that kids were being taught racial essentialism in schools.

00:28:45.000 They were being taught that America is replete with white privilege, that it is inherent in every major institution. 0.98

00:28:50.000 They were being taught 1619 Project garbage in the schools. 0.95

00:28:53.000 And the entire take from the Democratic Party is we're not even teaching critical race theory.

00:28:56.000 We don't even know what critical race theory is.

00:28:58.000 And then when you say, OK, fine, so what if we just get rid of it?

00:29:00.000 Like, no, no, it's super important that your kids learn critical race theory, because otherwise they won't be learning real history.

00:29:06.000 The gaslighting was very strong and parents were like, you know what?

00:29:09.000 You can just go yourself.

00:29:12.000 We are not interested in being told that we are fools for wanting to know what our kids are being taught in school.

00:29:18.000 See, one of the things that happened with Zoom School last year is that parents finally got to see what their kids were being taught in school and they weren't super happy about it.

00:29:24.000 That is for sure.

00:29:26.000 Meanwhile, on MSNBC, the meltdown continued.

00:29:28.000 Steve Kornacki trying to inform the MSNBC panel.

00:29:32.000 So the people who hosted this were Nicole Wallace, who's a hack, and Joy Reid, who's the biggest hack on television, and Rachel Maddow, who was the moderate on the panel.

00:29:41.000 So Steve Kornacki trying to deliver the news.

00:29:44.000 That Democrats were just getting walloped in Virginia and that New Jersey was close.

00:29:49.000 You had to feel a little bit for Steve Kornacki because he was basically like the he's he was sort of like the Persian messenger in 300 who has to deliver the news to Leonidas that the hordes are coming.

00:30:05.000 It's going to go super poorly.

00:30:07.000 Steve Kornacki is like, I beg of you, my liege.

00:30:10.000 It's not me.

00:30:12.000 I didn't vote this way.

00:30:13.000 I'm not going to.

00:30:14.000 But I just I hate to bring you this news.

00:30:16.000 He had a feel for Kornacki, right?

00:30:17.000 Because he's just he's just trying to bring them the stats. 0.97

00:30:20.000 And everybody on MSNBC is like, behead him!

00:30:23.000 Why is Kornacki bringing up Steve Kornacki? 0.66

00:30:26.000 He's like, I'm just the messenger, guys.

00:30:27.000 Like, yes, well, here we shoot the messenger.

00:30:30.000 So you can see Kornacki's expression.

00:30:31.000 He's like, Oh God, this job.

00:30:33.000 Some nights.

00:30:34.000 And so here's Rachel Maddow complaining that Fox kept talking about critical race theory.

00:30:38.000 How could they talk about critical race theory?

00:30:40.000 It's not like it was a major issue for people what their kids were being taught in schools.

00:30:44.000 Here is Rachel Maddow doing this routine. 0.94

00:30:47.000 To have the Fox News Channel, our friends at the Fox News Channel, building their programming, particularly their primetime programming around this for months, they're building a campaign platform for conservative candidates to run on it everywhere, even though it's not actually taught anywhere, even though it's not a real thing.

00:31:03.000 I mean, there's nothing you could pay for in any campaign that would equal the kind of free help you'd get from that sort of conservative media.

00:31:10.000 Just firehose on the issue.

00:31:13.000 Okay, I love that.

00:31:15.000 You gotta love the lack of awareness from Rachel Maddow.

00:31:17.000 I mean, there's nothing like free media coverage of an issue that Republicans care about.

00:31:22.000 Yes, Rachel, I'm sure that's what happened in Virginia.

00:31:24.000 What happened in Virginia, for sure, is that Republican media are just so dominant.

00:31:28.000 They're just so powerful.

00:31:30.000 All the time, Republican media.

00:31:31.000 I mean, it's not like there's a network.

00:31:34.000 That spends all day, every day, pushing a democratic agenda.

00:31:38.000 It's not like every host on a network pushes that agenda in the most radical possible fashion.

00:31:44.000 You own Mirror, people!

00:31:46.000 You're on MSNBC!

00:31:48.000 And you're saying, oh man, look at those Republicans fire-hosing Republican issues.

00:31:52.000 I mean, just terrible.

00:31:53.000 Look at Fox and all these conservative media.

00:31:55.000 Okay, I'm just going to name a few networks just off the top of my head here.

00:31:58.000 MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC.

00:32:03.000 The New York Times, The Washington Post.

00:32:04.000 Right now we're not getting noticed, now we're in newspapers.

00:32:06.000 New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune.

00:32:11.000 Every major outlet.

00:32:13.000 Every major outlet, with the exception of essentially the Wall Street Journal and Fox News.

00:32:18.000 Every legacy media outlet supports the Democrats.

00:32:21.000 And they're like, I can't believe this Fox News, these Fox News people.

00:32:24.000 Did it ever occur to them that maybe the reason people watch Fox News is because you guys won't report?

00:32:28.000 Again, I refer you over to Daily Wire.

00:32:30.000 Get a subscription because Luke Rosiak did the reporting these jokers wouldn't do.

00:32:35.000 Our investigative journalist, Luke Rosiak, did a yeoman's work in Loudoun County.

00:32:39.000 And you should support that work because your entire journalism-ing population won't do any of that work.

00:32:44.000 Instead, they will just repeat that.

00:32:45.000 Remember, the entire Luke Rosiak story about Scott Smith, who is the parent, who was wrestled to the ground and called a domestic terrorist because he was angry that the school board had said that no one had been raped in a bathroom and he knew that his daughter had.

00:32:58.000 Remember, the entire media just ran with the story that he was a domestic terrorist.

00:33:01.000 It took Lou Groziak to uncover the fact that he was actually just a rightly pissed-off parent.

00:33:06.000 Hey, but, and this is the theme over at MSNBC, just keep schtupin' that chicken, man.

00:33:10.000 Schtupin' until it's not frozen anymore.

00:33:12.000 Here is Nicole Wallace again, saying critical race theory is fake.

00:33:16.000 It's all fake.

00:33:16.000 It's all in your imagination.

00:33:19.000 What is happening in sort of Republican America, it's not just critical race theory.

00:33:24.000 It's saying, you know, fraud happened.

00:33:26.000 People believe there was fraud, so they're fixing it.

00:33:28.000 So Republican voters think Republicans are fixing it.

00:33:30.000 Never mind that it's fake.

00:33:31.000 Critical race theory isn't taught.

00:33:33.000 It means something different to voters.

00:33:34.000 They think it is.

00:33:35.000 So Republicans are fixing it.

00:33:37.000 Youngkin's going to ban it.

00:33:38.000 And some of it is just a question for Democrats now.

00:33:40.000 Do you adjust to a terrain that is not fair, that is not just, that is all fact-based, but that tonight looks like it advantages Republicans?

00:33:51.000 It's unreal.

00:33:52.000 They're just going to keep denying it.

00:33:53.000 They're just going to keep denying it, and then they'll tell you it's super important to follow it.

00:33:56.000 Here's Joy Reid, who's the worst of the bunch over there. 1.00

00:33:59.000 Joy Reid is just... The fact that she's on a nightly show is such an unbelievable joke, because I'm not sure that she's said a correct thing in several years at this point.

00:34:09.000 So she says that when you say education in Virginia, what you really mean is white parents don't like teaching about race.

00:34:15.000 When white people say education, what they really mean is white.

00:34:20.000 Keep on going with this, really.

00:34:22.000 I'm just gonna sit back here.

00:34:24.000 You guys do your thing.

00:34:25.000 In fact, I would love to nominate, if I had the power, I would nominate Joy Reid to be head of the DNC. 0.98

00:34:30.000 She should be.

00:34:31.000 They should just follow her strategy.

00:34:32.000 Just keep calling everything you don't like white supremacy.

00:34:35.000 See how that works out for you.

00:34:36.000 Here is Joy Reid.

00:34:38.000 And the exit polls showed that, which was interesting, that the coronavirus or that the virus was a very low salience to many of the voters there.

00:34:46.000 It was education, which is code for white parents don't like the idea of teaching about race.

00:34:53.000 And I mean, unfortunately, race is just the most palpable tool in the toolkit. 0.91

00:34:58.000 It used to be of the Democratic Party back in the day when there were Dixiecrats, and now of the Republican Party.

00:35:02.000 It just is powerful.

00:35:06.000 Okay, it was Glenn Youngkin being attacked by Tara McAuliffe as a racist.

00:35:10.000 It was McAuliffe making race the issue. 0.96

00:35:13.000 It was that old white guy telling you that all the Republicans were racist. 0.96

00:35:17.000 That was the campaign. 0.79

00:35:19.000 Republicans were just saying, we don't want our kids taught that some people are worse because of their race.

00:35:23.000 And it was Democrats saying, if you don't teach that, you won't teach history and you're a racist.

00:35:27.000 Joy Reid accusing others of playing the race card?

00:35:30.000 I mean, honest to God, it's like OJ Simpson accusing you of murder.

00:35:34.000 Like, that's not...

00:35:35.000 There's something wrong here.

00:35:37.000 Joy Reid has several decks of cards, except it's like a magic deck.

00:35:42.000 The only card in the deck is the race card.

00:35:45.000 That is the only card in all of her myriad decks.

00:35:48.000 There are no kings.

00:35:49.000 There are no tens.

00:35:49.000 There are no eights.

00:35:50.000 It's just the race card.

00:35:51.000 That's all.

00:35:52.000 And she does it every night on her show for every issue.

00:35:54.000 And then she's like, these Republicans, they're constantly playing the race card.

00:35:57.000 Can you believe it?

00:35:58.000 And then you wonder why we went crazy.

00:36:00.000 And then you wonder why everybody went out and voted against the Democrats.

00:36:02.000 Keep on going, guys.

00:36:04.000 Keep on going.

00:36:05.000 CNN's Van Jones did some of the same stuff.

00:36:07.000 He was saying, well, you know, Glenn Youngkin, he's just the Delta variant Trump. 0.96

00:36:11.000 Delta variant Trump, because you see Trump is like a disease and Glenn Youngkin is like a worse, more virulent form of the disease. 0.92

00:36:17.000 This is not going to work because Glenn Youngkin, number one, is not Trump.

00:36:20.000 And number two, people do not see basic conservatism as a disease.

00:36:24.000 Here's Van Jones.

00:36:26.000 When this election is over in Virginia, we will know.

00:36:29.000 Have we seen the emergence of the Delta variant of Trumpism?

00:36:33.000 The Delta variant of Trumpism.

00:36:35.000 In other words, Junkin, same disease, but spreads a lot faster and can get a lot more places.

00:36:41.000 The suburbs, if they fall to him... That's implying that Junkin is more dangerous than the former president.

00:36:49.000 No, no, more easy to spread.

00:36:53.000 Because if you look at what he's doing, he is playing footsie with the worst of Trumpism.

00:37:00.000 Is he really?

00:37:01.000 Come on.

00:37:03.000 Wajahat Ali summed up this entire line of attack in a tweet last night.

00:37:07.000 Former CNN commentator, whiteness remains undefeated.

00:37:11.000 Let's wait and see who these white suburban voters went for tonight in Virginia. 1.00

00:37:14.000 Any guesses?

00:37:15.000 Whiteness remains undefeated. 0.97

00:37:16.000 Again, first black female lieutenant governor in Virginia.

00:37:20.000 First Hispanic AG in Virginia.

00:37:22.000 Whiteness remains undefeated. 0.97

00:37:23.000 Weird, because nine months ago, Joe Biden won that state by 10 points.

00:37:28.000 Nine months ago.

00:37:30.000 So, yeah, man.

00:37:32.000 Whiteness remains undefeated. 0.97

00:37:33.000 That's a solid take.

00:37:34.000 Keep going with that.

00:37:35.000 Really, just keep going.

00:37:37.000 I'm just gonna, really, please, please.

00:37:40.000 All right, in one second, we'll get to more on this because the Democrats have a couple of paths they're going to take. 0.99

00:37:45.000 And I'm really hoping that they continue to double down on the stupid. 0.99

00:37:48.000 First, let us talk about the fact that a lot of people suffer from nausea, right? 1.00

00:37:52.000 You might get car sickness.

00:37:53.000 My wife tends to get car sick. 1.00

00:37:55.000 You might get anxiety, migraines, hangovers, morning sickness, like a lot of reason people get nauseous, but there's a great easy solution.

00:38:01.000 I'm talking about ReliefBand.

00:38:31.000 The Sport is waterproof, it features interchangeable bands, and it has extended battery life.

00:38:36.000 My wife uses ReliefBand when we're in the car. 0.84

00:38:39.000 also uses Relief Band. I got her one as well. As the holiday season quickly approaches, there's never been a better time to give the gift of relief.

00:39:57.000 ♪♪ Alrighty, so now that Democrats have a real problem on their hands, which direction do they move?

00:40:06.000 Do they move in the direction of the moderates, who's like Joe Biden?

00:40:09.000 Or do they move in the direction of the squad?

00:40:12.000 Now, here's the thing.

00:40:13.000 Joe Biden is not moderate.

00:40:14.000 And this is the problem with running as a moderate and then not governing as a moderate.

00:40:17.000 It means that even if you're trying to look moderate, you seem as though you're far left.

00:40:22.000 Because, in fact, you are.

00:40:24.000 As Chris Wallace pointed out on Fox News last night, Terry McAuliffe was dragged down by Biden.

00:40:28.000 He was not helped by Biden, he was dragged down by Biden.

00:40:32.000 It's really interesting.

00:40:33.000 There have been some White House operatives who've been putting out the word all day.

00:40:37.000 This is not a referendum on Joe Biden, which is an odd thing to do when your guy, Terry McAuliffe, has a chance of winning.

00:40:44.000 It almost seems like they have been pre-butting the idea that don't blame us if McAuliffe loses.

00:40:51.000 But there's no question that Joe Biden has had an impact on this race.

00:40:56.000 His sharp decline in the polls.

00:40:58.000 He's at about 42, 43 percent support in Virginia.

00:41:01.000 If he were at 52 or 53 percent, I think that McAuliffe would have a much better chance of winning tonight.

00:41:07.000 So McAuliffe, instead of having an asset in Joe Biden and his agenda, has, I think, kind of had to carry him like a weight tied to his ankle.

00:41:18.000 Hey, according to Jonathan Martin over at the New York Times, even before the polls closed, Biden advisers recoiled at the Democratic governor's talking points, noting Biden's swoon in the polls.

00:41:28.000 They say it's not Biden, it's just that Terry McAuliffe muffed it.

00:41:31.000 Okay, except it's both, right?

00:41:32.000 It's that Terry McAuliffe did a horrible job in the campaign, and also that Joe Biden supports all that stuff, okay?

00:41:37.000 There is no daylight between Joe Biden and Terry McAuliffe.

00:41:39.000 They campaigned it together.

00:41:41.000 Joe Biden endorses the message of Terry McAuliffe on education.

00:41:44.000 They are on the same page.

00:41:46.000 McAuliffe was a so-called moderate.

00:41:47.000 So where do Democrats move?

00:41:50.000 Joe Biden is falling apart.

00:41:51.000 The Democratic Party can either follow him and fall apart, or they cannot follow him and fall apart.

00:41:55.000 These are their two choices right now.

00:41:57.000 And again, Joe Biden is doing a terrible job.

00:41:59.000 So Biden yesterday, he was questioned about inflation in Glasgow.

00:42:03.000 It went very, very poorly for him because inflation continues to dog American families.

00:42:07.000 And meanwhile, this dummy is trying to infuse several trillion more dollars into the economy.

00:42:14.000 The definition of inflation is more dollars, less product.

00:42:17.000 And his solution to that is more dollars, less product.

00:42:20.000 Sounds great.

00:42:21.000 Here's more cowbell Joe Biden.

00:42:24.000 It doesn't mean these dislocations aren't real.

00:42:26.000 They do affect people's lives.

00:42:28.000 For example, one of the reasons why I decided to talk about the need to deal with The operation and the gouging that occurs in some of the pricing of beef and chicken and other things is that that's why I think that's why I indicated to you we're going to look at whether or not there's a violation of antitrust laws and what they're doing.

00:42:57.000 Good luck with this guy.

00:42:59.000 Good luck with this guy.

00:43:00.000 James Carville, who, again, is actually pretty good at his job.

00:43:04.000 He's been warning Democrats, you guys are getting too radical.

00:43:06.000 He's like, we suck at talking about the economy. 0.98

00:43:07.000 Yes, yes you do.

00:43:10.000 I don't think the Democrats have done near a good enough job of talking about how really good this economy is for workers.

00:43:17.000 I mean, you look at the quit rate.

00:43:19.000 I mean, it's stagnantly good.

00:43:20.000 And workers have more power now than they had at any time in this century.

00:43:25.000 And I do think that our communications, I think the White House communications have been bad.

00:43:30.000 I'm very critical of people like myself that have access to shows like you that I haven't framed this work well.

00:43:36.000 And I blame CNN and The New York Times and everybody else.

00:43:41.000 Yeah, he blames everybody for the fact that Biden is bad at his job.

00:43:44.000 And here's the thing.

00:43:45.000 If you're going to follow the moderates, the moderates are with Biden on his spending plans.

00:43:49.000 OK, literally the only two people who the Democrats have decided are verboten at this point are Manchin and Sinema.

00:43:54.000 Now, let's say that you're Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona or Joe Manchin from West Virginia.

00:43:58.000 So you're in Arizona, a very purple state, and you just watched a blue state turn entirely red.

00:44:04.000 Or let's say that you're Joe Manchin and you are in the reddest state in America.

00:44:06.000 I have a question.

00:44:08.000 What exactly is your impetus to now vote for Build Back Better?

00:44:11.000 Why would you do anything Joe Biden wants you to do?

00:44:13.000 Instead, you are much safer not doing anything they want you to do, and then running and maybe winning.

00:44:18.000 Or you can vote for everything Joe Biden wants, and you can go down in flaming defeat in your home state.

00:44:22.000 But the only two Democrats that Democrats will not follow at this point are Manchin and Sinema.

00:44:26.000 Instead of taking their foot off the gas and pumping the brake a little bit, instead, they're like, yeah, Manchin and Sinema, no. 0.94

00:44:31.000 So the choice now is between two losers, Joe Biden and the squad. 0.80

00:44:35.000 Those are the choices inside the Democratic Party. 0.94

00:44:37.000 And it's not going particularly well.

00:44:40.000 So, on the one side, you have the Joe Biden team saying, we need to spend more money.

00:44:40.000 It's not going great.

00:44:44.000 If only we had spent more money, we would have won this election.

00:44:46.000 If only we had passed Build Back Better, we would have won in Virginia.

00:44:49.000 There is no evidence for this.

00:44:51.000 None.

00:44:52.000 Okay?

00:44:53.000 No evidence that Build Back Better would have fixed anything for Democrats in Virginia, or New Jersey, or Pennsylvania, or Long Island, or Minneapolis, or Buffalo.

00:45:01.000 No evidence that it would have fixed anything for the Democrats in any of these areas.

00:45:01.000 Right?

00:45:05.000 Okay?

00:45:08.000 That's what that's Biden's case.

00:45:09.000 Give me more power to spend more money and everything will be great.

00:45:11.000 It's not true.

00:45:13.000 And then you have the squad and the squad are like, or you could do this.

00:45:15.000 Spend even more money and also call Americans deeply racist at every available turn and talk about equity and how America's institutions are completely corrupt.

00:45:23.000 If these are your two bifurcating paths as the Democratic Party, you got a lot of problems.

00:45:27.000 So again, you got James Carville on the one end saying, let's spend more money.

00:45:30.000 And then you have Joy Reid on the other end saying the future of the party is to spend even more money than the Democrats typically want to do and to racially pander in the process.

00:45:39.000 It's the idea that the Build Back Better bill, which has got all the stuff for women and people of color, it's got all the stuff for environment, for young people, that that bill is seen as secondary to Democrats in Washington, and all they care about is the bill that in their mind will win them back, like, you know, white independent voters.

00:45:57.000 Do you think that Democrats can take that lesson out of this, or do you think that they're just going to take the usual lesson and, you know, as Julian Castro just said, go find another centrist and try the same game again next time?

00:46:09.000 It's amazing.

00:46:10.000 So the centrist argument at this point is, what if we spend slightly less money than God has ever seen?

00:46:15.000 And the non-centrist argument is, what if we spend slightly more money than God has ever seen?

00:46:19.000 And this is the battle inside the Democratic Party.

00:46:22.000 Man, things are getting ugly.

00:46:23.000 You know how many retirements are coming for the Democrats?

00:46:27.000 If you are a House Democrat in a purple district, do you really want to run for re-election in this environment?

00:46:32.000 With this leadership team?

00:46:34.000 With this media environment?

00:46:35.000 Is this really what you want?

00:46:36.000 You should think pretty seriously about it.

00:46:38.000 It didn't stop in Joe Biden, because Biden, Biden, you know, normally you say that when somebody's playing chicken, they put a brick on the accelerator.

00:46:44.000 The thing about Joe Biden is he is the brick on the accelerator.

00:46:46.000 He's an inanimate object who's been placed on the accelerator, and he's just going to lie there.

00:46:50.000 And what this means is that he has to keep doubling down.

00:46:53.000 So Build Back Better is the plan, and they're going to keep pushing Build Back Better.

00:46:56.000 So Joe Biden yesterday, he's out there making the case for Build Back Better, and just lying to you.

00:47:00.000 He's saying that his spending plan is going to lower inflation.

00:47:04.000 They just got blown out in Virginia.

00:47:06.000 Blown out.

00:47:07.000 And they nearly lost New Jersey.

00:47:10.000 Like, it's still a squeaker.

00:47:11.000 It's going to go to recount.

00:47:12.000 And Joe Biden's like, yeah, the best thing we can do right now is just force through a big spending bill that nobody seems to like very much.

00:47:17.000 And it'll lower inflation.

00:47:20.000 17 Nobel laureates in economics said it's going to lower inflation, raise wages, increase competition, create two million jobs a year, etc.

00:47:31.000 And so I think that I understand that Joe is looking for the precise detail to make sure nothing got slipped in in terms of the way in which the legislation got written that is different than he acknowledged he would agree to.

00:47:48.000 Yeah, good luck with this.

00:47:49.000 Meanwhile, Chuck Schumer is still trotting out the lie that this entire plan is going to be paid for because he has to push it.

00:47:56.000 They don't have a choice.

00:47:58.000 Rick on the accelerator.

00:47:59.000 Here we go.

00:48:01.000 It doesn't do everything I would want or many of us would want, but it takes a big step forward.

00:48:07.000 All the while, Build Back Better will be fully paid for and will ultimately relieve our nation's inflationary pressures.

00:48:16.000 No one believes this.

00:48:17.000 No one believes this.

00:48:19.000 Okay?

00:48:19.000 And meanwhile, what were the Democrats actually doing?

00:48:21.000 This is the part that's the best.

00:48:23.000 So the new Democratic plan has in it a SALT deduction.

00:48:27.000 They're putting back the SALT deduction.

00:48:28.000 So all these tax-the-rich, eat-the-rich folks, they're actually creating a carve-out for rich Democrats in blue areas.

00:48:35.000 According to the New York Times, Democrats were readying an agreement on Tuesday that would repeal a cap on the amount of state and local taxes homeowners can deduct as part of a broader $1.85 trillion spending bill, a move that could amount to a significant tax cut for wealthy Americans in liberal states.

00:48:48.000 But some liberals quickly balked at the emerging agreement, which would suspend a $10,000 cap on the so-called SALT deduction for five years, removing a limit Republicans included in their 2017 tax package as a way to pay for cuts for corporations and the rich.

00:49:00.000 I love how the New York Times poses this.

00:49:02.000 That the SALT deduction elimination was designed as a way to pay for tax cuts for rich people.

00:49:07.000 No, the SALT deduction elimination hit rich people.

00:49:11.000 Because the SALT deduction elimination basically said that if you live in a blue state you can take your taxes for your state taxes and then deduct the state taxes against your federal taxes.

00:49:19.000 It really helped rich people in blue states.

00:49:21.000 It didn't help rich people in Florida or Texas where there's no state income tax.

00:49:26.000 It helped rich people in California.

00:49:28.000 This is what Democrats are pushing.

00:49:29.000 Democrats want that SALT deduction.

00:49:31.000 Republicans removed the SALT deduction because they said why exactly should voters in Florida or Texas Now Democrats want to put that back in.

00:49:44.000 It's pretty regressive.

00:49:45.000 Here's Larry Summers, former Treasury Secretary under Bill Clinton, saying, In the way this bill is likely to pass, it's not completely clear yet, depending on what happens to state and local taxation, there will be a large number of people with incomes of say eight or nine million dollars who are going to see their taxes go down.

00:50:12.000 And I'm not sure that this was a time when people in the top tenth of a percent of the income distribution, top hundredth of a percent of the income distribution, should be getting tax cuts.

00:50:28.000 The infighting is going to get much worse.

00:50:29.000 Bernie Sanders said yesterday, Just keep going to war with each other.

00:50:32.000 Keep going to war. 0.91

00:50:32.000 Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell doing the easy thing. 0.91

00:50:33.000 that for families earning less than $400,000, they can take a complete exemption, but not families earning more than that.

00:50:39.000 What exists is unacceptable, and one way or another, it will be dealt with.

00:50:42.000 Just keep going to war with each other.

00:50:44.000 Keep going to war. 0.91

00:50:45.000 Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell is doing the easy thing.

00:50:47.000 He's saying, listen, nobody wants this bill.

00:50:49.000 Nobody's calling for Build Back Better.

00:50:51.000 You guys think that if you ram this through it's going to save you?

00:50:53.000 Right now this is an unpopular bill.

00:50:55.000 It is.

00:50:56.000 Now the only question is whether they even get the infrastructure bill.

00:50:58.000 The reason being, right now, there's enough Republican support for the infrastructure bill to get it over the top in the Senate, right?

00:51:04.000 You got Mitt Romney, you got Susan Collins, you got a bunch of other Republicans on board with the infrastructure bill in the Senate.

00:51:09.000 When it goes to the House, it's unclear how many House Republicans are actually going to vote for infrastructure.

00:51:13.000 And Democrats right now do not have enough progressives on board to simply pass the infrastructure bill.

00:51:19.000 Because the progressives have been saying, we need some sort of commitment from Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to vote for Build Back Better.

00:51:25.000 But now Manchin and Sinema ain't voting for Build Back Better.

00:51:27.000 Why would they?

00:51:28.000 After the absolute drubbing that Democrats took in Virginia.

00:51:32.000 Again, if you are a purple state Democrat or a red state Democrat, you can't look at that and think to yourself, man, I really need to move along with a big spending agenda most Americans are not on board with.

00:51:41.000 Here's Mitch McConnell pointing out the obvious when it comes to Build Back Better.

00:51:45.000 This is a bill America does not want and does not need.

00:51:49.000 The ideal solution would be to not pass it.

00:51:53.000 But if it's to pass, it'll be written by Manchin and or Sinema.

00:52:00.000 Okay, and he is right about that, but here's the thing.

00:52:03.000 Right now, I don't think Build Back Better gets done.

00:52:06.000 Maybe at all.

00:52:07.000 If it does, it's going to get scaled way down, even from where it is right now.

00:52:09.000 Manchin and Sinema have no interest in passing this thing.

00:52:12.000 It cuts directly against their political interests.

00:52:14.000 And if Manchin and Sinema don't vote for that, are the progressives going to vote for infrastructure?

00:52:19.000 And what are they going to do?

00:52:20.000 Because if there are enough progressives who don't vote for infrastructure and that, that's the radicals.

00:52:24.000 That's Cori Bush and AOC and all the rest of the progressive Democrats who really have nothing to lose here, right?

00:52:29.000 If they vote down infrastructure to protest Manchin and Sinema, their voters aren't going to punish them for that.

00:52:34.000 They're going to reward them for that.

00:52:35.000 So now the question becomes, if you're a House Republican, do you hand Biden an infrastructure bipartisan bill victory?

00:52:41.000 Or, do you simply vote it down and say, you guys had a majority in the House, you Democrats.

00:52:44.000 We're not going to help you.

00:52:46.000 If you decide to vote down your own bill, that's your problem.

00:52:48.000 You guys can't get it together?

00:52:50.000 Enjoy the French fries.

00:52:53.000 Because really, this is on you.

00:52:55.000 And remember, it's going to get worse for Democrats, because Democrats pushed off the debt ceiling until the beginning of December.

00:53:02.000 And it was Mitch McConnell who said, okay, well, this is the last time.

00:53:04.000 We'll push off the debt ceiling until December.

00:53:05.000 We're not helping you at that point.

00:53:07.000 So if you want the debt ceiling raised at that point, you're going to have to do so through the reconciliation process, which has all sorts of effects on how Democrats vote.

00:53:15.000 Because in order to do it via reconciliation, you have to have essentially what's called a voterama, where everybody votes up or down on a bunch of popular or unpopular proposals.

00:53:23.000 Democrats have been desperately attempting to avoid this.

00:53:25.000 This is why they wanted a large consensus to push up the debt ceiling.

00:53:28.000 So if you're a Democrat right now, you have so many conflicts on your hands, it makes your head swim.

00:53:32.000 You got Joe Biden, deeply unpopular president, dragging you down because he is literally a human anchor.

00:53:39.000 He is just a not animate object that is dragging you to the bottom of the political sea.

00:53:44.000 You got that problem.

00:53:45.000 Then you got the split between Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema and the rest of the party.

00:53:48.000 And instead of you following the irrational people in your party like Manchin and Sinema, you've decided they're bad.

00:53:52.000 So you have to ignore them.

00:53:54.000 They're bad.

00:53:55.000 OK.

00:53:55.000 Meanwhile, you have the battle between the so-called moderate wing, which is like Biden, who is not moderate, and the squad.

00:54:04.000 And that battle is breaking out into the open.

00:54:06.000 And then meanwhile, you have the debt ceiling coming up in early December.

00:54:10.000 You have no infrastructure bill that has passed.

00:54:12.000 You have a Build Back Better plan that has no support for mansion and cinema at this point.

00:54:17.000 The problems are only going to multiply in the near future.

00:54:18.000 They're not getting better for Democrats anytime in the near future.

00:54:21.000 And they don't have Trump to kick around.

00:54:22.000 This is the best thing, right?

00:54:24.000 Because Trump was the unifying factor in the Democratic Party.

00:54:26.000 They're just going to keep screaming January 6th.

00:54:28.000 But guess what?

00:54:28.000 It didn't work in Virginia.

00:54:29.000 It didn't work in New Jersey.

00:54:31.000 No one cares.

00:54:33.000 January 6th happened nearly a year ago at this point.

00:54:35.000 Americans are not waiting around on the latest WAPO investigation about who is saying what in the middle of the January 6th riot.

00:54:43.000 Nobody is...

00:54:44.000 As long as that is not the key issue, Democrats are in a world of hurt.

00:54:49.000 And the Senate map in 2022 looks increasingly grim for them.

00:54:53.000 Right now, it looks very much like Maggie Hassan in New Hampshire is set to go down.

00:54:57.000 It looks very much like Republicans in Pennsylvania may have a shot, particularly if Conor Lamb is not nominated for the Democratic Party.

00:55:04.000 It looks as though the Senate seat in Wisconsin that looked as though it was trending blue may be trending red again.

00:55:10.000 If you are a senator in Georgia, a Democratic senator in Georgia right now, you got to be running scared.

00:55:15.000 Democrats, 2022 is coming for you.

00:55:18.000 It's coming for you.

00:55:19.000 And this is a disaster of your own making.

00:55:21.000 You had one job. 0.99

00:55:22.000 Don't be crazy. 0.98

00:55:24.000 And you blew it. 0.98

00:55:25.000 And this is the aftereffect.
