00:01:36.000 Alrighty, so, night two.
00:01:38.000 Democratic National Convention.
00:01:40.000 Excitement on the order of the reaction to the finale of Lost.
00:01:43.000 I mean, just endless levels of excitement.
00:01:45.000 How exciting has this convention been?
00:01:47.000 Well, Night 1 was down 28% year on year.
00:01:49.000 It turns out that running a bunch of bad YouTube videos in a row really doesn't do it for people.
00:01:54.000 And while Michelle Obama was indeed a draw, Night 2 did not feature Michelle Obama.
00:01:58.000 Night 2 featured a bunch of Democratic retreads talking about their crappy foreign policy perspectives and making Selfless, completely non-self-aware comments about politics.
00:02:11.000 I mean, that really was the theme, was non-ironic, unaware comments about politics last night from a variety of Democratic figures just saying things that can be characterized as gaslighting.
00:02:20.000 Gaslighting, for those who don't know, is a phenomenon wherein you drive somebody crazy by pretending something isn't happening that definitely is happening.
00:02:28.000 It comes from a movie called Gaslight.
00:02:30.000 Starring Ingrid Bergman, going all the way back, in which I believe it's Charles Boyer.
00:02:34.000 Charles Boyer plays Ingrid Bergman's husband, and he wants to drive her nuts.
00:02:38.000 And so every night, he turns down the gas lights in the house, and then she says, have you turned down the gas lights?
00:02:44.000 He says, no, everything is fine.
00:02:45.000 Nothing has changed.
00:02:46.000 That's gas lighting.
00:02:47.000 That's where the phrase comes from.
00:02:49.000 Last night was example par excellence of gas lighting.
00:02:52.000 And you got to feel in American politics, like one of the things that's happening is the insane amount of gas lighting on all sides really is pretty crazy.
00:02:59.000 I mean, the best example of gaslighting that I've seen continues to be the media's willingness to prop up Andrew Cuomo, the worst governor in America.
00:03:06.000 That stupid ass is now being given a book contract to write about COVID.
00:03:11.000 It's like the captain of the Titanic being contracted to write about proper navigation of the oceans.
00:03:18.000 The thing is called American Crisis.
00:03:20.000 It's called American Crisis, and they released the book cover.
00:03:23.000 And it's just a picture of Andrew Cuomo on the book cover, looking all stern and leader-y.
00:03:29.000 Again, it's called American Crisis.
00:03:31.000 It really should be called If I Did It, like the O.J. Simpson book, If I Did It.
00:03:35.000 So we're being gaslit on a variety of issues.
00:03:37.000 And the gaslighting was on full display at the DNC.
00:03:40.000 It's been on full display at the DNC.
00:03:41.000 The DNC continues to be a radical organization, but then the leadership of the DNC will pretend that it's not a radical organization.
00:03:49.000 So, for example, Linda Sarsour, right?
00:03:52.000 Linda Sarsour is a radical anti-Semite, a person who has spoken in defense of terrorists before.
00:03:58.000 She's exorbitantly anti-Semitic.
00:04:00.000 I mean, really dislikes Jews.
00:04:02.000 And she is a Muslim delegate to the DNC.
00:04:05.000 She didn't have like an official appearance, it's not like they slated her for a speaking role, but she appeared at one of the daytime sessions, apparently from some sort of hotel room for the DNC caucus and council meeting, as a Muslim delegate and allies assembly, and suggested that the DNC was basically run by people like her.
00:04:24.000 She actually said that the DNC stands with us, stands with us, which is kind of true.
00:04:28.000 I mean, it's been true for quite a while.
00:04:30.000 By the way, I was there at the 2012 Democratic Convention at which the Democrats from the floor overruled what was obviously a majority of the delegates in trying to remove Jerusalem as Israel's capital from the DNC platform.
00:04:43.000 Sarsour, her appearance in this little caucus video, it actually caused the Biden campaign to come out and condemn Linda Sarsour because they understand where their bread is buttered in terms of American politics.
00:04:54.000 Linda Sarsour is not a particularly popular figure on any side of the aisle except the radical left.
00:05:00.000 A Biden spokesman named Andrew Bates said, Okay, so there's a bit of gaslighting.
00:05:03.000 and opponents of anti-Semitism his entire life.
00:05:03.000 She's still a delegate, right?
00:05:05.000 He obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS, as does the Democratic platform.
00:05:09.000 She has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever.
00:05:12.000 Okay, so there's a bit of gaslighting.
00:05:13.000 She's still a delegate, right?
00:05:14.000 She's still saying that the party is her party.
00:05:17.000 And she's still hobnobbing with people like AOC, right?
00:05:19.000 She's never been disavowed by members of the squad, of course, and she won't be disavowed by any members of the squad.
00:05:24.000 Other examples of gaslighting yesterday at the DNC in sort of the lead-up to the primetime.
00:05:29.000 Again, I've paid more attention than I think most people to the stuff before the primetime, because again, the primetime is the dating profile, and the stuff that happens during the day is the actual on-the-ground grassroots Democratic Party at work.
00:05:39.000 Elizabeth Warren spoke to the DNC's Native American caucus, which is like, I can't think of anything more tone-deaf than that.
00:05:46.000 Elizabeth Warren, fake Native American, who claimed Native American ancestry to get ahead in her career, was speaking on behalf of the DNC to Native Americans.
00:05:54.000 It was real, real weird.
00:05:56.000 So that's a bit of gaslighting as well.
00:05:59.000 Okay, so finally we get to primetime, and we get the cavalcade of comedy stars from the DNC.
00:06:04.000 We get a bunch of Democrats coming out and saying stuff that it's almost impossible to believe that they don't understand the irony of what they are saying.
00:06:12.000 They're just brought out figure after figure to say things that are in direct contravention of things these people have done.
00:06:16.000 To take a perfect example, Governor Stacey Abrams of Georgia.
00:06:20.000 I speak ironically, of course, because she is not actually governor of Georgia, but believes she is, despite the fact she lost by 50,000 votes in Georgia, and she's been wandering the streets ever since, claiming to be the governor of Georgia.
00:06:29.000 Now, I'm just shocked she didn't declare herself the vice presidential nominee in this particular little speech.
00:06:35.000 So she spoke at the DNC in this little online convention they're having.
00:06:41.000 And she said, we're going to work to stop voter suppression.
00:06:44.000 She talked about the undermining of elections.
00:06:46.000 Now, this has been her schtick for quite a while, is that our elections are being undermined.
00:06:50.000 She's literally been going around for years at this point, claiming that she won an election, she lost by 50,000 votes, and here she is talking about electoral integrity.
00:06:58.000 Stacey Abrams.
00:06:59.000 Again, the fact that this woman was even considered for VP demonstrates what a joke the Democratic Party is at the highest levels.
00:07:04.000 Here's Stacey Abrams.
00:07:06.000 Joe Biden is a man of proven courage.
00:07:09.000 He will restore our moral compass by confronting our challenges, not by hiding from them or undermining our elections to keep his job.
00:07:19.000 In a time of voter suppression at home and authoritarians abroad, Joe Biden will be a champion for free and fair elections.
00:07:27.000 Trump is undermining elections, unlike Stacey Abrams, who goes around claiming without any basis whatsoever that the vote was suppressed in Georgia.
00:07:34.000 That was a bit of irony that we are just not really allowed to note according to the media.
00:07:39.000 And then we got Sally Yates.
00:07:40.000 Sally Yates is the former acting attorney general.
00:07:42.000 You'll recall that Sally Yates was fired by the Trump administration because Trump believed, as it turns out sort of correctly, that Sally Yates was oriented against the Trump administration.
00:07:50.000 Sally Yates, it is also worth noting, has testified publicly at this point that she was shocked to learn in the early days of the incoming Trump administration, the outgoing Obama administration, that Barack Obama and Joe Biden were full in In knowledge with regard to Michael Flynn and the pursuit of Michael Flynn.
00:08:07.000 Sally Yates has said that she was shocked that James Comey was not fully informing the Trump team about the fact that they were investigating Michael Flynn and that she was shocked to learn that Joe Biden and Barack Obama were fully informed and in the loop on an investigation into Michael Flynn.
00:08:20.000 That's essentially what she has suggested in front of Congress.
00:08:23.000 Yet here was Sally Yates suggesting that Donald Trump is attacking our institutions when she's literally testified that she was part of an administration that was attacking basic institutions like you don't His constant attacks on the FBI, the free press, inspectors general, federal judges, they all have one purpose.
00:08:37.000 Here's Sally Yates, though, talking about undermining American institutions.
00:08:40.000 His constant attacks on the FBI, the free press, inspectors general, federal judges, they all have one purpose, to remove any check on his abuse of power.
00:08:55.000 Put simply, he treats our country like it's his family business, this time bankrupting our nation's moral authority.
00:09:05.000 By the way, she's been a longtime Democratic donor, so she started this thing off by saying, I'm not really a political figure, I'm more a legal figure.
00:09:11.000 She's been getting Democrats for it for a very long time.
00:09:13.000 Sally Yates testifying about institutional abuses while she was in the Obama administration, which was institutionally abusing Michael Flynn, institutionally abusing Carter Page.
00:09:23.000 Kind of ironic.
00:09:24.000 We'll get to more ironies from the Democratic National Convention in just one second.
00:09:28.000 First, let us talk about the fact that right now a lot of people are looking at the news and thinking, can I even get life insurance right now?
00:09:33.000 Is that even a possibility?
00:09:34.000 The answer, of course, is yes.
00:09:36.000 It is still easy to shop for life insurance right now.
00:09:37.000 If you have loved ones, depending on your income, you probably should.
00:09:40.000 Right now, you could save $1,500 or more per year by using PolicyGenius to compare life insurance policies.
00:09:45.000 Whether you're shopping for a policy that could last for a decade or more or not, you should be checking out PolicyGenius to competitively shop.
00:09:51.000 What is PolicyGenius?
00:09:52.000 It's an insurance marketplace and they make it really easy.
00:09:54.000 Step one, you head on over to PolicyGenius.com.
00:09:56.000 In minutes, you can work out how much coverage you need.

00:10:02.000 Step three, the PolicyGenius team will handle all the paperwork and the red tape.

00:10:12.000 They even have policies that allow eligible customers to skip in-person medical exams and do it over the phone.
00:10:17.000 Which is why PolicyGenius has a five-star rating across 1,600 reviews on Trustpilot and Google.
00:10:22.000 So, if you need life insurance because you're a responsible human being, want to make sure that your family is taken care of in case, God forbid, you should plot, head on over to PolicyGenius.com right now to get started.
00:10:30.000 You could save $1,500 or more a year by comparing quotes on their marketplace, PolicyGenius.
00:10:34.000 When it comes to insurance, it is nice to get it right.
00:10:37.000 Okay, so...
00:10:38.000 Meanwhile, speaking of gaslighting, again, the DNC is claiming that Joe Biden is a deeply moderate candidate, that their party is deeply moderate.
00:10:45.000 So moderate, in fact, that they are willing to disavow Linda Sarsour and all of this.
00:10:48.000 And then they trot out AOC.
00:10:50.000 And AOC, I will say this for AOC, the woman can compress more SJW slogans into a short period of time than any person alive.
00:10:59.000 It is truly an incredible skill.
00:11:01.000 If you had a bingo card drinking game, you were dead of alcohol poisoning inside of a minute.
00:11:05.000 She had 60 seconds to express herself, and she hits every single square on the SJW, Democratic Socialist...
00:11:14.000 of America, Marxist bingo card.
00:11:16.000 I mean, just one after another.
00:11:18.000 She's like the auctioneer of SJW nonsense.
00:11:18.000 It's pretty astonishing.
00:11:21.000 So here is AOC.
00:11:23.000 She did the pro forma nomination of Bernie Sanders.
00:11:25.000 Some people got this wrong, suggesting that she was trying to undermine Biden.
00:11:28.000 That's not the way this works.
00:11:29.000 In honor of the person who finished second, there's always somebody who nominates that person to the presidency.
00:11:34.000 Here was AOC just spitting out, spitting some hot lyrics about racial injustice, colonization, misogyny, blah, blah, blah.
00:11:43.000 Infidelity and gratitude to a mass people's movement working to establish 21st century social, economic, and human rights, including guaranteed health care, higher education, living wages, and labor rights for all people in the United States.
00:12:02.000 A movement striving to recognize and repair the wounds of racial injustice, colonization, misogyny, and homophobia.
00:12:11.000 Drink!
00:12:12.000 Okay, so then she went on with that.
00:12:14.000 But you're already dead of alcohol poisoning.
00:12:15.000 It's too late.
00:12:16.000 This is why you really need to have like a Smirnoff iced-drinking games with AOC when it comes to SJW kind of crap.
00:12:22.000 Did you get all of that?
00:12:23.000 Racial injustice, colonization, misogyny, homophobia.
00:12:26.000 We're gonna heal all those wounds through Bernie Sanders.
00:12:28.000 Okay, so don't worry.
00:12:29.000 Not a radical party.
00:12:30.000 AOC is just the leader of a newfangled squad that is gaining members by the election.
00:12:34.000 They've gained two new members to the squad.
00:12:35.000 They have a woman who is a social justice activist, a Michael Brown protester-turned-Congressperson over in Missouri, and then they have a person who got rid of Eliot Engel over in New York, basically because Eliot Engel was pro-Israel.
00:12:49.000 So, very exciting stuff.
00:12:51.000 The squad continues to grow inside the Democratic Party, but don't worry, it is a moderate party.
00:12:55.000 And then the gaslighting continued.
00:12:56.000 Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, arrived to explain that President Trump has divided the country.
00:13:02.000 Now, let it be known that Chuck Schumer is currently in the Senate holding up any deal that will allow anybody to get increased aid from the government in a time of government shutdowns, specifically because he and Nancy Pelosi have combined to push a $3.4 trillion pork package that pays off all of the various Democratic priorities from the post office to various union interests.
00:13:23.000 They're holding it up purely and specifically because they want that deal not to happen because then Trump might get credit and the economy might be upheld.
00:13:30.000 Instead, they're openly rooting for failure.
00:13:32.000 Don't worry, Chuck Schumer isn't the one who's divisive.
00:13:35.000 Chuck Schumer and his Democrats aren't the ones who are divisive.
00:13:37.000 Only Donald Trump is divisive.
00:13:39.000 Now, as I've said before, whatever you think about Trump and his divisiveness, and there's no question, he is a divisive figure.
00:13:44.000 The fact is that Trump, when it comes to American politics, is not the murderer, he is the coroner.
00:13:48.000 Chuck Schumer has been in Washington, D.C.
00:13:50.000 since the times of Abraham Lincoln.
00:13:53.000 Chuck Schumer has contributed more to polarization in Washington over the course of his career than Donald Trump has over the course of the last four years, we're certain.
00:14:00.000 Here is Chuck Schumer talking about divisions in the country, which can be healed by Chuck Schumer in some way.
00:14:04.000 Here is Chuck Schumer, a pretty Gross politician, if ever we've seen one.
00:14:09.000 Here's Chuck Schumer.
00:14:11.000 The Statue of Liberty, the same site that greeted hopeful immigrants like my grandparents, a symbol of freedom and a beacon of hope to the world.
00:14:22.000 Today, Donald Trump has divided our country, diminished our greatness and demeaned everything that this statue represents.
00:14:31.000 He even hid in a bunker as Americans were tear gassed and beaten.
00:14:36.000 Okay, come on.
00:14:38.000 They're focusing purely on the Lafayette Square incident.
00:14:42.000 This has become the big talking point is the Lafayette Square incident, which by the way is under dispute as to whether protesters are actually attacking members of the Park Service and all of that.
00:14:49.000 The studious avoidance of things that are actually going on in the country on a wide scale is pretty incredible.
00:14:54.000 Portland doesn't exist.
00:14:56.000 Seattle doesn't exist, poof.
00:14:58.000 L.A.
00:14:58.000 doesn't exist.
00:14:59.000 Chicago doesn't exist.
00:14:59.000 New York doesn't exist.
00:15:00.000 Washington, D.C.
00:15:01.000 doesn't exist.
00:15:02.000 None of this exists, according to the Democrats.
00:15:04.000 So who are you going to believe?
00:15:05.000 Chuck Schumer standing in front of the Statue of Liberty in the dark in a shutdown city?
00:15:10.000 Or your own eyes?
00:15:11.000 Which one are you going to believe?
00:15:12.000 Don't worry, Trump is the really divisive force here.
00:15:14.000 All you have to do is elect the Democrats and the riots will stop.
00:15:17.000 Which, by the way, is the tacit promise here, right?
00:15:19.000 We all know what the tacit promise here.
00:15:20.000 The tacit promise here is that if the Democrats get what they want and Donald Trump leaves office, then the riots in the big cities will stop, then the lockdowns will gradually end.
00:15:28.000 There was a New York Times article, by the way, just a couple of days ago talking about the shutdowns of public education.
00:15:34.000 There are new studies out suggesting that kids under the age of 10 really are not transmitting this to parents.
00:15:39.000 Like in any mass numbers.
00:15:40.000 And that even kids above the age of 10 are not transmitting this in the same kinds of numbers as fully grown adults.
00:15:47.000 There's not a good reason why schools should be shut down at this point.
00:15:49.000 Schools are open across Europe.
00:15:51.000 Schools are open across Asia.
00:15:53.000 Schools are open in Canada.
00:15:56.000 Take some precautions.
00:15:57.000 Open the schools.
00:15:58.000 Even New York is looking at opening the schools.
00:16:00.000 But the New York Times acknowledged that much of the reason That a lot of schools are closed is because Democrats have decided that if Trump wants the schools open, the schools must be closed.
00:16:09.000 At some point Trump has got to start engaging in some reverse psychology with these people and simply advocate for complete and endless shutdowns so the Democrats will start advocating for opening up the economy again.
00:16:19.000 But it is fairly incredible that Chuck Schumer and the Democrats continue to claim that all of the bad things that are happening are Donald Trump's fault.
00:16:27.000 All you have to do is elect us and then we will leave you alone.
00:16:31.000 It's really a reflection of 1960s politics.
00:16:34.000 I was listening to another podcast yesterday, the Commentary Magazine podcast, which is quite good and always interesting.
00:16:40.000 And they were musing over the fact that the Democratic National Convention, if you look at the way that they label various people at the DNC, they're constantly labeling people activists.
00:16:48.000 And they no longer label them by their sort of political title.
00:16:52.000 They now label them activists.
00:16:54.000 Cori Bush, who's the woman who just won in Missouri in this fraught district, she is an activist.
00:17:01.000 AOC likes to think of herself as an activist.
00:17:02.000 You have a lot of government officials in the Democratic Party who consider themselves activists.
00:17:06.000 Well, activists define themselves by opposition to the system.
00:17:09.000 And so what's really happening here is that the Democrats are playing an inside-outside game.
00:17:12.000 The inside-outside game is they pretend that they are activists who are shaping the system from the outside while simultaneously taking over the institutions so they can make concessions to the activist side.
00:17:21.000 And this has been happening on college campuses for years.
00:17:24.000 You have administrators who used to be activists, caving to the newfangled activists, who then become the administrators, who then cave to the newfangled activists.
00:17:31.000 It's how you constantly push to the left.
00:17:33.000 This is what happened in major cities in the 1960s.
00:17:36.000 There's a great book by a man named Fred Siegel, one of the founders of the Manhattan Institute, called The Future Once Happened here, talking about the decline of America's major cities in the 1960s.
00:17:44.000 And one of the major forces that led to that was the inside outside game being played by rioters, looters, and quote unquote activists outside the government, pushing members of the government.
00:17:53.000 And members of the government would openly acknowledge, they would openly say, we're so glad we have these activists outside, creating chaos so that we have to cave to the chaos.
00:18:01.000 Well, you shouldn't be blackmailed into voting for Democrats.
00:18:05.000 You should not be blackmailed into voting for Democrats by watching as Democrats foster chaos in America's major cities, as they talk about defunding the police, as they talk about making room for people to riot and loot.
00:18:17.000 And then they suggest, you know what?
00:18:18.000 All of this will go away if you just give us more power.
00:18:20.000 That is an ugly tactic, but it is a tactic that is indeed happening.
00:18:23.000 The same Democrats who are suggesting, guys, you know, these lockdowns, they're really, really, really necessary.
00:18:27.000 But if you elect us, then we'll solve it.
00:18:28.000 And then the lockdowns will just go away.
00:18:30.000 The tacit promise is we will stop opposing you being able to do your job and do your business so long as you elect us.
00:18:36.000 That's a blackmail threat.
00:18:37.000 It really is.
00:18:38.000 And you shouldn't cave to it.
00:18:39.000 If you're a free thinking American, you should not cave to anybody telling you that you cannot take advantage of your rights unless you elect them.
00:18:45.000 That's a pretty ugly pitch.
00:18:47.000 We'll get to more of Democratic hypocrisy from the DNC last night, and again, trotting out just some really old retreads.
00:18:54.000 Really old retreads.
00:18:55.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:18:57.000 First, let us talk about your mouth health.
00:18:59.000 So you may be thinking, you know, okay, so I don't brush my teeth as often as the dentist says I'm supposed to.
00:19:04.000 Is that really going to kill me?
00:19:05.000 Yes.
00:19:05.000 The answer is it definitely could.
00:19:07.000 I mean, the fact is that your mouth health is connected to things like your heart health, for example.
00:19:11.000 And this is why you need a toothbrush that is actually going to do a good job of cleaning your teeth.
00:19:15.000 This is why you need Quip.
00:19:16.000 The Quip Smart Brush for adults and kids.

00:20:26.000 Okay, so.
00:20:27.000 It wasn't just Chuck Schumer and AOC.
00:20:29.000 I mean, so many luminaries.
00:20:31.000 It was luminaries like Jimmy Carter.
00:20:32.000 So Jimmy Carter has shown up again.
00:20:33.000 Now, I'm glad that Jimmy Carter does nice things for the homeless, like building houses for the homeless.
00:20:38.000 That's a nice thing.
00:20:39.000 He was also one of the worst presidents in American history.
00:20:41.000 Truly an awful president.
00:20:43.000 A president who presided over the decline of American power abroad, led to the rise of the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, led to the Iranian takeover of the American embassy, facilitated the rise of the Ayatollahs, which we are still feeling the impact of, Jimmy Carter presided over stagflation.
00:20:58.000 He was an awful president.
00:20:59.000 He was such a bad president that he got absolutely walloped by Ronald Reagan, who was considered the underdog when that race started.
00:21:06.000 So Jimmy Carter was a disastrous president.
00:21:08.000 He's been a disastrous post-president, by the way, in his politics.
00:21:10.000 This is a guy who's made overtures to Hamas, the terrorist group.
00:21:14.000 This is a man who, in the aftermath of his presidency, spoke with the Soviets openly about how terrible the Reagan administration was.
00:21:25.000 Jimmy Carter has been a disaster on foreign policy for a long time.
00:21:28.000 Now, last night was the foreign policy night of the convention.
00:21:30.000 This very often is the pattern.
00:21:32.000 You have sort of an introductory night, then you have the foreign policy night, and then you have the VP night, and then you have the presidential night.
00:21:37.000 That's usually the pattern.
00:21:38.000 So tonight is the VP night, so we get to hear from Kamala Harris and her joker laugh.
00:21:43.000 Okay, well, we'll get to hear some of that.
00:21:45.000 Maybe we won't get to hear that tonight because Kamala Harris isn't being asked tough questions tonight.
00:21:49.000 Anyway, Jimmy Carter was trotted forth to endorse, and I'm old enough to remember in 2004 when Jimmy Carter was sitting in the presidential box with Michael Moore, which shows you where Jimmy Carter actually sits on politics.
00:21:59.000 Just because the man is quite elderly does not mean that he was a good president or that he has pursued in any way anything remotely approaching a moral foreign policy.
00:22:07.000 He never has.
00:22:08.000 And so having him speak on Foreign Policy Night is quite the achievement.
00:22:10.000 Here was Jimmy Carter endorsing Joe Biden, who, by the way, for the record, has been wrong on every major foreign policy issue of his lifetime.
00:22:16.000 It is impressive.
00:22:17.000 I mean, like they say that a stopped clock is right twice a day.
00:22:21.000 Joe Biden has yet to be right.
00:22:23.000 He's not actually a stopped clock.
00:22:24.000 He's just moving very, very, very slowly.
00:22:26.000 So he has never actually been right.
00:22:27.000 It's incredible.
00:22:29.000 You have to be, like, even if you just fill in C on all the bubbles of the SAT, you'll end up getting a couple of those questions right.
00:22:36.000 Somehow Joe Biden has studiously avoided being right his entire career on foreign policy.
00:22:40.000 Anyway, here was Jimmy Carter endorsing him.
00:22:44.000 When I ran for president in 1976, Joe Biden was my first and most effective supporter in the Senate.
00:22:50.000 For decades, he has been my loyal and dedicated friend.
00:22:54.000 Joe has the experience, character, and decency to bring us together and restore America's greatness.
00:22:59.000 In these uncertain times, Joe Biden realizes that many American lives can be saved each day through the use of masks and testing, as recommended by our medical experts.
00:23:10.000 Joe Biden must be our next president.
00:23:13.000 Okay, great.
00:23:15.000 I need to hear who needs to be the next president from Jimmy Carter.
00:23:17.000 I mean, that is a sterling recommendation from a man who is literally one of the five worst presidents in the history of the United States.
00:23:23.000 That is very, very exciting stuff.
00:23:24.000 Okay, then, we got Bill Clinton.
00:23:27.000 Okay, so.
00:23:28.000 I'm old enough to remember when the Democratic Party was the Me Too Party.
00:23:31.000 Believe all women.
00:23:33.000 Believe all women.
00:23:34.000 Justice Brett Kavanaugh was probably a rapist based on no evidence whatsoever other than an account that was disputed by every single other person who was mentioned in the account from Christine Blasey Ford.
00:23:45.000 I'm old enough to remember when the Democratic Party was declaring that anyone, everyone who was accused of a thing had to go.
00:23:52.000 In fact, in that brief moment, there was some talk in the Democratic Party about how Bill Clinton was done, right?
00:23:56.000 Bill Clinton had to go, right?
00:23:57.000 There was talk in this newfangled Democratic Party about how if they could go back in time, they really would have rethought that whole Lewinsky, Paula Jones, Juanita Broderick thing.
00:24:06.000 And maybe they would have thought twice about Clinton.
00:24:08.000 Well, now they've thought twice about thinking twice.
00:24:10.000 So Bill Clinton got trotted out to give Again, one of the least self-aware speeches in the history of a convention.
00:24:17.000 So we're going to get into the non-ironic speech by Bill Clinton.
00:24:21.000 Like, did he run it by anybody before he said it out loud?
00:24:24.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:24:26.000 First, let us talk about the fact that now is not a great time to go to the auto parts store.
00:24:29.000 In fact, never is a great time to go to the auto parts store instead.
00:24:32.000 You should be using the magic of the interwebs.
00:24:35.000 Why would you not?
00:24:36.000 The interwebs is great.
00:24:37.000 Rockauto.com.
00:24:38.000 It is much easier than walking into a store and someone demanding quick answers to questions like, is your Odyssey an LX or an EX?
00:24:45.000 And then they probably don't have the part.
00:24:46.000 And even if they do have the part, it's generic, but they probably have to order it online anyway, and then they upcharge you.
00:24:50.000 Instead, just go to rockauto.com and cut out the middleman.
00:24:53.000 They always offer the lowest prices possible rather than changing prices based on what the market will bear, like airlines do.
00:24:58.000 Why would you spend up to twice as much for the same parts?
00:25:01.000 I mean, that's literally the case in many cases.
00:25:03.000 You can go to Rock Auto and you're getting like 40-50% off the ticket price at a big auto parts store.
00:25:08.000 RockAuto.com is a family business serving auto parts customers online for 20 years.
00:25:12.000 Go to RockAuto.com to shop for auto and body parts from hundreds of manufacturers.
00:25:16.000 Best of all, prices at RockAuto.com, they're always reliably low.
00:25:19.000 They are the same for professionals and do-it-yourselfers, so you shouldn't spend more on the same parts.
00:25:23.000 It's just silly.
00:25:24.000 Go to RockAuto.com right now.
00:25:25.000 See all the parts available for your car or truck.
00:25:27.000 Ray Shapiro in there.
00:25:28.000 How did you hear about us, Fox?
00:25:29.000 So they know that we sent you rockauto.com right now.
00:25:32.000 Remember to write Shapiro in that, how did you hear about us box?
00:25:34.000 So they know that we sent you, that helps us and it helps them as well.
00:25:37.000 By the way, you should do this for all of our sponsors so that they know that they should continue to advertise and also so they know that you're listening to the show.
00:25:43.000 We really appreciate it.
00:25:44.000 Go check out rockauto.com right now.
00:25:46.000 Okay.
00:25:47.000 So Bill McClinton.
00:25:49.000 So it's awkward.
00:25:50.000 It's awkward.
00:25:51.000 Now, there were some people who were being asked questions about all of this.
00:25:55.000 So, for example, Tammy Duckworth, who was not picked as the vice presidential pick, she was asked about why Bill Clinton was speaking at the DNC.
00:26:02.000 And she was like, well, it's a big tent.
00:26:04.000 A big ol' rapey tent.
00:26:06.000 So that's good stuff.
00:26:08.000 And then we had Jennifer Granholm, the former governor of Michigan, explaining why Bill Clinton has not been canceled yet.
00:26:17.000 And it got awkward because there's no good reason why Bill Clinton has not been canceled yet.
00:26:21.000 This happened on CNN.
00:26:22.000 Here was Jennifer Granholm trying to awkwardly explain why Captain Rapey McEpstein was up there on the DNC stage.
00:26:31.000 How is it that Bill Clinton has not been cancelled by the Democratic?
00:26:34.000 How has he survived all of these waves of cancellation when he has been one of the biggest violators of these rules in the Oval Office?
00:26:42.000 How far back are we going to relitigate it?
00:26:43.000 Is that the right answer?
00:26:44.000 Okay, this has already been asked and answered decades ago.
00:26:48.000 The point is that Bill Clinton is excellent at explaining stuff, especially the things that matter to everyday people.
00:26:56.000 What I admire about Bill Clinton is that he has acknowledged his wrongdoing.
00:27:02.000 He has acknowledged his wrongdoing?
00:27:04.000 In what way?
00:27:05.000 In what way has he acknowledged his wrongdoing, exactly, Van Jones?
00:27:09.000 I love Jennifer Granholm.
00:27:10.000 This happened a long time ago.
00:27:11.000 Well, I don't know, should we grab his high school yearbooks and ask him about boofing?
00:27:15.000 I'm old enough to remember, because I'm more than two years old, when they asked Brett Kavanaugh what the devil's triangle was in his high school yearbook description.
00:27:24.000 And he had to bring forth his calendars from high school, which was then seen as a mark of white supremacy and privilege.
00:27:30.000 Yes, I'm old enough to remember all of that.
00:27:31.000 But Bill Clinton, it happened a long time ago, guys.
00:27:33.000 I mean, just because he was kind of like a little rapey, like a lot for like a lot of women, and there are dozens of allegations against him that are dicey.
00:27:40.000 Come on, guys.
00:27:41.000 Bill Clinton's still a good guy.
00:27:42.000 I mean, it's a long time ago.
00:27:45.000 I do love the democratic changing standard.
00:27:46.000 It's pretty astonishing.
00:27:48.000 It really is pretty great.
00:27:49.000 Okay, so then Bill Clinton gives his speech.
00:27:51.000 And Bill Clinton is not looking as good as he did back in 2012.
00:27:54.000 You'll remember that Bill Clinton gave this much-ballyhooed speech at the 2012 Democratic National Convention on behalf of Barack Obama.
00:28:00.000 Barack Obama came out and gave him a real awkward bro hug afterward.
00:28:03.000 Okay, so last night, Bill Clinton gave his speech, and he talked about why Donald Trump is not qualified to be president, the pressures of the job.
00:28:11.000 And without any sense of irony or self-awareness at all, he started making references to the Oval Office.
00:28:16.000 So here was Bill McClinton, rapey McPlain a lot.
00:28:19.000 Here he was.
00:28:21.000 At a time like this, the Oval Office should be a command center.
00:28:25.000 Instead, it's a storm center.
00:28:27.000 There's only chaos.
00:28:29.000 Just one thing never changes.
00:28:31.000 His determination to deny responsibility and shift the blame.
00:28:35.000 The buck never stops there.
00:28:38.000 The Oval Office is a storm center.
00:28:40.000 And the buck never stops with him.
00:28:42.000 Okay, so, when you're going to talk about using the Oval Office as a storm center, I don't think that Bill Clinton means it the same way that he thinks he means it.
00:28:54.000 I mean, he was literally banging the interns in the Oval Office, guys.
00:29:00.000 Like, right there in the Oval Office.
00:29:02.000 It got real awkward on that rug under the desk.
00:29:06.000 So that was Bill Clinton talking about the Oval Office at the DNC.
00:29:11.000 Real, real weird.
00:29:13.000 So there was that.
00:29:15.000 That was the thing that happened last night at the DNC.
00:29:17.000 And then Bill Clinton was like, we can't trust Donald Trump because that man is not really... I do also like when he says, the buck always stops at the top.
00:29:25.000 I mean, there are literal allegations.
00:29:27.000 That Bill Clinton was basically launching wars in order to avoid responsibility for nailing the help.
00:29:34.000 Anyway, here's Bill Clinton talking about people being distracted at their jobs.
00:29:38.000 He was like, we need people who are focused in like a laser beam on the job of being president of the United States.
00:29:43.000 So here was Bill from Chappaqua.
00:29:45.000 This is the first time he's been back to Chappaqua in years.
00:29:47.000 I mean, he and Hillary Clinton studiously avoid each other.
00:29:50.000 And they're like Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, just despise one another, trying to stay away from each other, but locked in eternal combat.
00:29:58.000 Here was Bill Clinton talking about defining the job of the presidency.
00:30:03.000 Denying, distracting, and demeaning works great if you're trying to entertain or inflame.
00:30:08.000 But in a real crisis, it collapses like a house of cards.
00:30:13.000 COVID just doesn't respond to any of that.
00:30:16.000 To beat it, you've got to actually go to work and deal with the facts.
00:30:20.000 We can't deny and we can't distract.
00:30:21.000 We can't say, for example, that we didn't bang the help.
00:30:25.000 We really can't say things like, there's a vast right-wing conspiracy to get me, and that is why it doesn't matter that I'm nailing the interns.
00:30:33.000 Yeah, Bill Clinton.
00:30:34.000 And then he says that President Trump defines his job as tweeting.
00:30:38.000 And you can't define the job as tweeting, because that isn't the job.
00:30:41.000 The job is definitely receiving oral sex in the Oval Office.
00:30:44.000 I mean, that's the job, guys.
00:30:45.000 And if anyone knows that, it's Bill Clinton.
00:30:47.000 Here's Bill Clinton defining the job of the presidency.
00:30:51.000 Now you have to decide whether to renew his contract or hire someone else.
00:30:56.000 If you want a president who defines the job as spending hours a day watching TV and zapping people on social media, he's your man.
00:31:05.000 And if you want somebody who spends hours a day checking out the thongs of the 18-year-olds who staff his office, we did that for two terms.
00:31:13.000 So it seems like Americans have a kind of variegated view on the presidency.
00:31:16.000 And so they trotted out Bill Clinton.
00:31:17.000 So that was awkward.
00:31:17.000 Then, I mean, speaking of just people who have not been relevant and are not relevant and are terrible at their jobs, trotting these people out to endorse, John Kerry was brought forth.
00:31:26.000 John Kerry reporting for duty.
00:31:30.000 Face collapsing like a mudslide in the Beverly Hills during a rainstorm.
00:31:36.000 El Nino means that I'm collapsing from within.

00:34:52.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:34:55.000 All righty, so we get to John Kerry's.
00:35:03.000 So again, the Democrats trotted out people who just have a bad record to talk about why you should listen to them, which makes no sense at all.
00:35:09.000 So John Kerry, the worst Secretary of State in modern American history, helped broker the garbage Iran deal, undermined alliances with Israel, horrible policy on Afghanistan, horrible policy with regard to the Middle East, horrible policy on China, absolutely kowtowing to Russia on Syria.
00:35:24.000 I mean, just a garbage heap of a Secretary of State, an awful Secretary of State.
00:35:28.000 We need to hear from him about why The foreign policy of Joe Biden will be correct.
00:35:33.000 Now, again, Joe Biden has yet to make a correct foreign policy decision his entire career.
00:35:37.000 He literally has none.
00:35:38.000 His big theory is that we should just divide up countries.
00:35:41.000 He said it about Afghanistan.
00:35:42.000 He said it about Iraq.
00:35:43.000 That was his big theory, his going theory.
00:35:45.000 He's so bad at politics that after the Trump administration brokered this Israel-UAE deal, which is a real historic breakthrough, Biden tried to take credit by claiming that he had had conversations with the UAE while he was VP.
00:35:57.000 Joe Biden's last conversation with the UAE happened in 2014, and it ended with him having to issue an official apology to the government of the UAE.
00:36:04.000 That's how good Joe Biden is at diplomacy.
00:36:06.000 John Kerry is so good at diplomacy that his unintentional The unintentional effects of his butt-kissing of the Iranian regime ended with the creation of a pro-Israel alliance in the Middle East now.
00:36:18.000 So thank you, John Kerry.
00:36:19.000 So anyway, John Kerry goes out and he gives a speech, John Kerry, about why American troops don't trust Donald Trump.
00:36:26.000 Now, okay, if we have to ask American soldiers and service people overseas and at home whether they trust John Kerry, Over, say, Donald Trump.
00:36:38.000 That is not a close call.
00:36:38.000 John Kerry is a person who testified that American soldiers in Vietnam were war criminals, who supposedly threw his own medals over the White House fence in protest at American soldiers.
00:36:49.000 So listening to John Kerry lecture us on the troops is really ironic and rich, kind of like Bill Clinton lecturing us on honor in the Oval Office.
00:36:55.000 Here was John Kerry doing this routine.
00:36:58.000 This is the bottom line.
00:37:00.000 Our interests, our ideals, and our brave men and women in uniform can't afford four more years of Donald Trump.
00:37:08.000 Our troops can't get out of harm's way by hiding in the White House bunker.
00:37:12.000 They need a president who will stand up for them.
00:37:15.000 And President Biden will.
00:37:18.000 Oh, so I'm going to listen to this guy, this schmuck, who suggested that American soldiers were routinely taping electrodes to genitals of Vietnamese people in order to garner information during the Vietnam War, cutting off ears.
00:37:29.000 This is literally what he testified in the Winter Soldier Testimony.
00:37:31.000 I need to hear that schmuck talk about what's best for American troops.
00:37:34.000 Yeah, let's listen to John Kerry.
00:37:36.000 And then he says, when Trump goes overseas, it's a blooper reel.
00:37:39.000 Yeah, as opposed to when Barack Obama went overseas and just apologized for America's presence on the world stage repeatedly.
00:37:44.000 That was great.
00:37:44.000 Or when John Kerry went overseas and literally undermined American alliances.
00:37:49.000 Or when Joe Biden went overseas and literally had to apologize to people he was talking to.
00:37:53.000 There was John Kerry talking up Biden's foreign policy for some reason.
00:37:57.000 Donald Trump inherited a growing economy and a more peaceful world.
00:38:01.000 And like everything else he inherited, he bankrupted it.
00:38:05.000 When this president goes overseas, it isn't a goodwill mission, it's a blooper reel.
00:38:10.000 He breaks up with our allies and writes love letters to dictators.
00:38:14.000 America deserves a president who is looked up to, not laughed at.
00:38:19.000 Oh, is that, okay.
00:38:20.000 Well, as opposed to Barack Obama, who has looked up, again, who looked up to Barack Obama overseas, except for leftists overseas who want to see America shrink its role in the world.
00:38:29.000 And the fact is that whatever you can say about Donald Trump, China is more fearful of the United States today because Trump is president than if Biden were, and it's been made obvious and clear.
00:38:37.000 There are intelligence reports suggesting China's trying to interfere in our elections on behalf of Joe Biden.
00:38:41.000 Same thing with Iran.
00:38:43.000 And when it comes to Russia, I'm old enough to remember when Barack Obama was pledging flexibility to the Russians and letting them take over Crimea.
00:38:49.000 So good times, good times.
00:38:52.000 OK, and then they went even further.
00:38:54.000 It's like, who else can we bring out here who has a poor foreign policy record?
00:38:57.000 How we bring out Colin Powell, who's been widely derided by both right and left for the speech that he made in front of the U.N.
00:39:02.000 making the case for war in Iraq.
00:39:04.000 Now Colin Powell is good again because the way that people become good again is simply to oppose Trump.
00:39:07.000 Here was Colin Powell.
00:39:09.000 Joe Biden will be a president we will all be proud to salute.
00:39:12.000 With Joe Biden in the White House, you will never doubt that he will stand with our friends and stand up to our adversaries, never the other way around.
00:39:21.000 He will trust our diplomats and our intelligence community, not the flattery of dictators and despots.
00:39:26.000 He will make it his job to know when anyone dares to threaten us.
00:39:31.000 He will stand up to our adversaries with strength and experience.
00:39:34.000 They will know he means business.
00:39:36.000 OK, no one believes Joe Biden means business on foreign policy.
00:39:39.000 He's been one of the more weak-kneed members of the foreign policy establishment for literally decades.
00:39:43.000 OK, so then we get to the final pitch for Joe Biden.
00:39:45.000 So yesterday we had the Joe Biden is going to help the economy pitch a little bit.
00:39:49.000 And then we had the Joe Biden is not Donald Trump pitch, which is like, OK, fine, that's a pitch.
00:39:53.000 And then we get to the real pitch for Joe Biden, which is he's a nice man.
00:39:56.000 That's that's the actual pitch for Joe Biden.
00:39:56.000 Right.
00:39:58.000 And this is the part of the Joe Biden resume that they're trying to emphasize the most, right?
00:40:04.000 Because Donald Trump is orange man bad and he's mean and he tweets weird things and he's a mean old orange man who's fat and all of that, right?
00:40:10.000 So Joe Biden, however, by contrast, is a nice old doddering fool.
00:40:13.000 He's a nice old dodder.
00:40:14.000 That's the case for him.
00:40:15.000 That's the entire case for him.
00:40:16.000 And you saw this over and over.
00:40:18.000 The most effective moments of the DNC last night and even the night before, and I'm sure tonight, are going to be all the parts where people say that Joe Biden is a nice guy.
00:40:24.000 And by all accounts, he is kind of a nice guy, right?
00:40:26.000 I mean, like, I've talked to Senator Ted Cruz on the right.
00:40:29.000 Meghan McCain says that Joe Biden was very nice to her when her father passed away.
00:40:35.000 People who know Joe Biden seem to like Joe Biden.
00:40:37.000 Now, he is kind of an idiot who runs on at the mouth politically, but in terms of just being like a personable guy, apparently he's a very personable guy, gets along with a lot of people in the Senate, and that's basically the pitch.
00:40:47.000 The pitch is, do you want a nice guy at this point?
00:40:49.000 Now, when the economy was going gangbusters, then no one cared whether you had a nice president or not, which is why back in March, it looked like Trump was going to be elected pretty easily.
00:40:58.000 Now, because the economy is bad, people are like, it would be nice to have a nice guy or someone who cares.
00:41:03.000 Listen, this is not my brand of politics.
00:41:05.000 I don't care whether politicians care about me because I don't deal with them.
00:41:08.000 I don't think politicians should have to care about me on an empathetic level.
00:41:11.000 I think they should create policies that get out of my way and allow me to live my life in freedom.
00:41:16.000 I don't care whether my plumber cares about me.
00:41:18.000 I don't care whether my roofing guy cares about me.
00:41:21.000 All I want from him is to do a good job.
00:41:23.000 It matters not to me whether he goes home and thinks about me day in and day out or whether he cries with me when something bad happens in my family because that's literally not his job.
00:41:30.000 I have family for that.
00:41:31.000 I have a community for that.
00:41:32.000 I have religious leaders for that.
00:41:34.000 I have plenty of people in my life.
00:41:35.000 I don't need to fill my life with politicians who quote-unquote care about me.
00:41:38.000 I've always thought this is the dumbest part of American politics.
00:41:40.000 It really is a newfangled growth of the modern communications age.
00:41:45.000 It started probably with FDR.
00:41:46.000 Before that, presidents were not expected to be Captain Caring.
00:41:49.000 That was just not their bag.
00:41:51.000 But now, of course, for the last hundred years since the era of mass communications, the warmth of the president has meant an awful lot.
00:41:57.000 And that's the part where Biden has an advantage over Trump because, again, people tend to look at Biden and think he's a nice guy.
00:42:02.000 So the most effective parts of the DNC last night were all about this.
00:42:04.000 He had a security guard.
00:42:06.000 She was a security guard at The New York Times and she was in an elevator with Biden.
00:42:08.000 And she said, I love you.
00:42:09.000 And Joe was like, I love you back.
00:42:11.000 And so she actually did the formal nomination of Joe Biden last night.
00:42:14.000 And it was it was really kind of sweet.
00:42:16.000 It was kind of nice.
00:42:16.000 Right.
00:42:18.000 I take powerful people up on my elevator all the time.
00:42:21.000 When they get off, they go to their important meetings.
00:42:24.000 Me?
00:42:25.000 I just head back to the lobby.
00:42:27.000 But in the short time I spent with Joe Biden, I could tell he really saw me.
00:42:32.000 That he actually cared.
00:42:34.000 That my life meant something to him.
00:42:36.000 Nominating someone like that to be in the White House is a good place to start.
00:42:41.000 That's why I nominate my friend, Joe Biden, as the next President of the United States.
00:42:49.000 Okay, so it's nice and also a little bit condescending.
00:42:52.000 And when I say condescending, I just mean that the DNC is plucking from obscurity, sort of, let me introduce you to random blue-collar worker who met Joe Biden once in an elevator for 30 seconds, but knows down to his soul what Joe Biden is like as a human being.
00:43:06.000 Now, as a politician, Joe Biden is a vicious knife fighter.
00:43:08.000 As a politician, Joe Biden is the guy who called Mitt Romney basically a re-enslaver of black Americans.
00:43:14.000 And as a politician, Joe Biden is viciously partisan.
00:43:17.000 As a politician, Joe Biden is willing to cut corners.
00:43:20.000 He's been willing to do that for years, but as an individual interacting with people, apparently he is pretty nice.
00:43:24.000 So I guess that's nice, but that is the real pitch.
00:43:27.000 And if the pitch for Biden is nice, then sort of his awkward moments become sort of charming grandpa moments instead of worrisome, oh my God, what's he going to say now moments, right?
00:43:35.000 This has always been the balance for Joe Biden being barely alive, is that on the one hand, you want your president to be alive enough not to constantly be falling off of ramps and such.
00:43:46.000 And that's a reference to Bob Dole in 96, right?
00:43:48.000 In 96, Bob Dole kind of fell off the stage and he was considered too old.
00:43:51.000 He was 72 at the time, right?
00:43:52.000 Joe Biden is 1,000 years old.
00:43:55.000 So you want the balance between being worried that the guy can't handle the job and also the, I'm comfortable with him.
00:44:01.000 He's a nice old grandpa.
00:44:02.000 I'd let babysit my kids kind of feel, right?
00:44:04.000 Biden is much warmer than Hillary Clinton, which is one of the reasons he's doing better in the polls.
00:44:07.000 We're going to have Hillary Clinton tonight and you'll get to see why Hillary Clinton was not made president of the United States.
00:44:14.000 There were a lot of moments last night where Biden was awkward, but it was more charming than it was kind of off-putting.
00:44:18.000 So here was Biden learning he got the nomination, and it was real awkward and weird.
00:44:21.000 But again, he's sort of charming grandpa, and at least that's the way the media is portraying him.
00:44:25.000 He really looks mostly like grandpa who's been surprised with a birthday cake by the grandchild.
00:44:29.000 doesn't really know kind of what's going on, but it's real cute and he's going to take photos with the kiddies.
00:44:35.000 Yeah, he's in a little school library and.
00:44:46.000 Thank you.
00:44:50.000 And then, yep, we are Zoom clapping for...
00:44:53.000 Joe Biden from all the delegates.
00:44:55.000 All very, all very odd.
00:44:56.000 And Joe Biden, kind of wide-eyed.
00:44:58.000 I mean, he's giving the same look that my grandmother gives us when we give her a surprise party, which is, I don't know what's going on, but I know I'm supposed to be happy right now.
00:45:05.000 A lot of that from Joe Biden, but looking sort of, this was played as more charming than a little frightening that Joe isn't completely aware of his surroundings.
00:45:12.000 Again, then Cindy McCain came forth and Cindy McCain talked about how Joe was always a wonderful guy with John.
00:45:17.000 And again, this is the pitch.
00:45:18.000 The pitch is that Joe is a nice person.
00:45:21.000 Even if a deal seemed out of reach, it was always Joe who tried to cross the aisle.
00:45:27.000 For three decades, Joe was able to move his colleagues and find a way forward.
00:45:33.000 On violence against women, banning chemical weapons, assault weapons, and controlling nuclear arms.
00:45:41.000 It was a style of legislating and leadership that you don't find much anymore.
00:45:47.000 OK, now, by the way, that is exactly the style of leadership the Democrats no longer embrace.
00:45:51.000 It's kind of funny to pitch that.
00:45:52.000 Again, they're pitching Joe Biden from 40 years ago and who's making criminal justice bills.
00:45:57.000 Not the Joe Biden of today who's being pushed around in a wheelchair by Nancy Pelosi and Bernie Sanders and AOC.
00:46:03.000 OK, then there was the best pitch.
00:46:04.000 Again, the best pitch is the personal pitch for Joe Biden.
00:46:07.000 Joe Biden was great last night.
00:46:08.000 OK, she was flat out good.
00:46:09.000 OK, so Joe Biden was making the only case that you can make for Joe, which is that he's a nice guy.
00:46:13.000 You can't make the case that he's alive because he barely is.
00:46:16.000 You cannot make the case that he is competent because he really is not.
00:46:19.000 And when other people make the case for Joe Biden, it's always slightly awkward.
00:46:23.000 Basically, Michelle Obama's case for Joe Biden is, I should be the nominee, but Joe Biden is the dead guy over there and he's the one you nominated.
00:46:28.000 So really do him instead of Trump, please.
00:46:30.000 That was really the pitch.
00:46:32.000 And then the pitch from Kamala Harris tonight presumably will be, well, you know, if Joe dies, I'll be here.
00:46:37.000 So let's do that.
00:46:38.000 Let's let's do that.
00:46:39.000 Joe Biden is the only one who can make an authentic case on behalf of Joe because she's been married to that guy for 30 years and been listening to his diarrhea of the mouth for the last three decades.
00:46:48.000 So she does, in fact, like him.
00:46:50.000 So having somebody who likes Joe Biden talking about how he's likable makes some sense.
00:46:53.000 I thought Joe Biden came off as very authentic.
00:46:55.000 I thought that she came off as very nice. So she talked about Joe Biden and personal tragedy, which is the most affecting part of the story. This is a person who lost children in a car crash early on in his in his life. And then obviously he just lost his son to brain cancer. I mean, these are serious personal tragedies. And that does humanize people.
00:47:13.000 Humanizing Joe Biden has always been an easier task than humanizing Hillary Clinton, who's a velociraptor of a human being. So Joe Biden did what I thought was a very good job.
00:47:21.000 She seems like a nice lady.
00:47:23.000 I mean, really, like, she does.
00:47:25.000 And here was Joe Biden being a nice lady, talking about her nice husband.
00:47:28.000 As someone put it last night, they're the kooky couple from next door on the sitcom, where you might wander into their apartment by accident, and they're elderly people making weird kinds of love.
00:47:38.000 It was really, they have that vibe to them from the 1970s Three's Company era.
00:47:43.000 Here was Joe Biden talking about the wonders of Joe.
00:47:47.000 Four days after Beau's funeral, I watched Joe shave and put on his suit.
00:47:54.000 I saw him steal himself in the mirror, take a breath, put his shoulders back, and walk out into a world empty of our son.
00:48:06.000 He went back to work.
00:48:08.000 That's just who he is.
00:48:11.000 So all of this stuff was very good for him, right?
00:48:13.000 Because again, the case for Joe is he's a nice old guy and he won't leave you alone.
00:48:17.000 Again, this is part of the tacit promise that the chaos stops if Joe is elected president.
00:48:20.000 So there is a soft blackmail underneath the entire Democratic pitch.
00:48:23.000 But again, the key for Joe Biden is turning him into a human.
00:48:28.000 Anytime you talk about any other aspect of Joe Biden, it's a bad thing for him.
00:48:31.000 You talk about his policies, it's bad.
00:48:32.000 You talk about his party, it's bad.
00:48:33.000 You talk about his VP, it's bad.
00:48:35.000 The only thing that Democrats want to focus in on is empathy and Joe Biden and his Captain Feelings and all the rest of this.
00:48:41.000 That's why the part of Joe Biden's speech I thought that fell a little flat is when she talked about how the schools are all closed because of COVID.
00:48:47.000 And I was just thinking to myself, they don't have to be.
00:48:49.000 I mean, really, they don't have to be.
00:48:50.000 It is Democratic politicians who are saying that we can't open up schools again, even though children are not dying of COVID.
00:48:55.000 They are not dying of COVID.
00:48:57.000 The numbers demonstrate they are not transmitting COVID in large numbers.
00:49:00.000 But Joe Biden blames Trump for the schools not being open, even though it is mainly blue states that are keeping the schools closed.
00:49:06.000 Florida is opening up the schools.
00:49:07.000 California ain't.
00:49:08.000 In fact, California is suing to stop private schools from opening.
00:49:11.000 Here is Joe Biden, though, pretending that it's Trump's fault the schools aren't opening.
00:49:15.000 This quiet is heavy.
00:49:19.000 You can hear the anxiety that echoes down empty hallways.
00:49:24.000 There's no scent of new notebooks or freshly waxed floors.
00:49:29.000 The rooms are dark as the bright young faces that should fill them are now confined to boxes on a computer screen.
00:49:39.000 Okay, so this is a weird kind of off-putting pitch from Joe Biden, but all the stuff about her husband was not quite as off-putting.
00:49:45.000 And then, of course, Joe Biden blew the ending.
00:49:47.000 Again, this was giving daughter and grandpa his birthday present, and his birthday present is a subscription to the AARP news magazine.
00:49:54.000 Here is Joe Biden blowing the ending.
00:49:56.000 He comes in at the very end, and he mush mouths it.
00:49:59.000 People thought he said, I'm Joe Biden's husband.
00:50:01.000 He says, I'm Jill Biden's husband, but he can't articulate.
00:50:05.000 I don't know if it's the dentures or what.
00:50:06.000 I mean he just completely blows this and looks all odd and weird and he's just walking into classrooms now and it was very strange.
00:50:15.000 Hey, everyone.
00:50:16.000 I'm Jill Biden's husband.
00:50:18.000 As you heard tonight, excuse me, you can see why she's the love of my life and the rock of our family.
00:50:23.000 She never gives herself much credit.
00:50:25.000 But the truth is, she's the strongest person I know.
00:50:28.000 Just think of your favorite educator who gave you the confidence to believe in yourself.
00:50:34.000 That's the kind of first lady, lady, lady, lady, this Jill Biden will be.
00:50:40.000 What's going on?
00:50:41.000 Lady, lady, lady, lady, lady, lady, lady.
00:50:43.000 OK, so the record got stuck and then they had to kind of, you know, hit the record machine and get the thing to stop skipping and scratching.
00:50:51.000 So again.
00:50:52.000 That's the pitch.
00:50:53.000 The pitch is Joe Biden is a person who is alive and is nice according to his wife.
00:50:57.000 If that's your pitch, go for it.
00:50:59.000 I mean, really, it is a pitch.
00:51:01.000 I suppose if that's what you're looking for, then that is what you will get.
00:51:04.000 All righty, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.
00:51:07.000 And of course, we'll be back here tomorrow to recap night three of the Democratic National Convention, when we expect to hear from the wondrous Presidentess of the United States, Hillary Clinton, still wandering the woods of Chappaqua in complete bewilderment that she's not, in fact, president, and a person nearly as charmless as Hillary Clinton, Kamala Harris, she of the joker guffaw and the prosecution of small children that can expect all sorts of good times tonight.
00:51:31.000 So stick around for more show later today, and then we'll be here tomorrow.
