The Ben Shapiro Show - Democrats Walk Into A Barr | Ep. 1062

00:00:00.000 Congressional Democrats grill Attorney General Bill Barr, but end up looking idiotic. 1.00

00:00:03.000 Joe Biden finally condemns violence. 1.00

00:00:05.000 Sort of.

00:00:06.000 And COVID begins to tail off in Texas, Florida, and Arizona.

00:00:09.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:09.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:17.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.

00:00:19.000 Why haven't you gotten a VPN yet?

00:00:21.000 Visit ExpressVPN.com slash Ben. 0.99

00:00:23.000 Well, if you learn nothing else from watching congressional hearings, you should learn that congresspeople should not have control over your life because they are some of the dumbest people who have ever walked the earth. 0.99

00:00:32.000 I mean, it truly is an incredible thing. 0.98

00:00:34.000 Adam Carolla, my friend Adam Carolla, the comedian, he's often said that when he was a kid and he was growing up, he would look at the adults and he would think to himself, they all must be pretty smart.

00:00:42.000 I mean, they've got cars, they've got houses.

00:00:44.000 And then he became an adult and he realized, nope, all those adults, they are just the same as the kids I was sitting next to when I was in kindergarten who were eating their own boogers.

00:00:51.000 And the same holds true of the people who rule us.

00:00:53.000 It turns out that many, many of the people who rule us are just awful at their jobs.

00:00:57.000 And not just are they awful at their jobs.

00:00:59.000 They are gutless. 1.00

00:01:00.000 They are ridiculous. 0.99

00:01:01.000 And never has that been more true than a congressional hearing that happened yesterday in which congressional Democrats went after Attorney General Bill Barr. 0.98

00:01:07.000 Now, make no mistake, the only reason they were going after Bill Barr is because Bill Barr has actually been a pretty effective attorney general.

00:01:13.000 In particular, they're angry that Bill Barr committed the great sin of tasking the DOJ with investigating the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion conspiracism.

00:01:22.000 And he actually allowed people at the DOJ to investigate exactly how we spent two years and tens of millions of dollars investigating a topic that ended up being a giant nothing burger.

00:01:30.000 And it has uncovered some pretty stunning things about the malfeasance inside the Obama administration, their willingness to press forward on virtually no evidence for prosecutions.

00:01:39.000 Bill Barr has been very good on a lot of this stuff.

00:01:42.000 You know, it should be noted that Bill Barr has also disagreed with President Trump on a wide variety of topics.

00:01:47.000 So, for example, President Trump was constantly suggesting that Roger Stone never should have gone to jail.

00:01:51.000 Bill Barr never said that.

00:01:52.000 Bill Barr said he should go to jail.

00:01:53.000 He said he doesn't deserve nine years in jail because he's 67 years old and this is really his first convictable criminal offense.

00:01:59.000 But President Trump ended up pardoning Roger Stone.

00:02:02.000 Democrats tried to blame Barr for Trump pardoning Roger Stone. 0.95

00:02:05.000 So there are a few things that were going on yesterday at this ridiculous, ridiculous hearing. 0.86

00:02:09.000 So they bring up Bill Barr because they want to yell at Bill Barr. 0.95

00:02:12.000 The first thing to note is that the hatred that Democrats have for Bill Barr is just as strong as the hatred they have for Donald Trump.

00:02:19.000 Which does explain how Donald Trump became President of the United States.

00:02:23.000 Now, a lot of people look at President Trump, they go, look at this Bulgarian, look at this guy, how did this guy become President of the United States?

00:02:28.000 I mean, they ran Mitt Romney in 2012, the epitome of class and moderation, and then they turn around, they run Trump, like, what the hell was that?

00:02:35.000 And the answer is, when Democrats treated Mitt Romney the same way they treated Trump, Republicans were like, okay, fine, we may as well just go with the guy who is going to clock them across the head with a frying pan.

00:02:44.000 And that was underscored again yesterday when Bill Barr, who is a longtime Republican public official, he served going all the way back to the Reagan administration, and he is just a normal, intelligent Republican conservative.

00:02:57.000 When they treated him with the same exact level of scorn and insanity that they treat President Trump, what that really suggests is that it's not Trump derangement syndrome, it's just conservative derangement syndrome.

00:03:07.000 Okay, so Barr arrives on Capitol Hill and he gives an opening statement.

00:03:09.000 end that they will treat them like Trump.

00:03:11.000 And this does underscore again the fact that when Trump puts out ads where it's a picture of his face and he says, they're not after me, they're after you.

00:03:17.000 There is some truth to that.

00:03:19.000 For a lot of conservatives, for a lot of Republicans, they look at how the media and Democrats treat Trump and they think that's how they would treat me too if I were president of the United States, even if I weren't doing all the crazy things that Trump is doing.

00:03:28.000 Okay, so Barr arrives on Capitol Hill and he gives an opening statement and his opening statement is pretty good.

00:03:34.000 I mean, his opening statement really takes on a couple of topics.

00:03:36.000 He first explains that the reason he's being called in is because Democrats are angry that he actually investigated Russiagate.

00:03:43.000 And then he went on to explain that the violence that we have been seeing around the country is not appropriate and that police across the country are not systemically racist.

00:03:50.000 So here was William Barr's opening statement explaining that police are not the main threat to black Americans in today's day and age.

00:03:56.000 The threat to black lives posed by crime on the streets is massively greater than any threat posed by police misconduct.

00:04:04.000 The leading cause of death for young black males is homicide.

00:04:08.000 Every year, approximately 7,500 black Americans are victims of homicide. 0.98

00:04:13.000 The vast majority of them, around 90%, are killed by other blacks, mainly by gunfire. 1.00

00:04:19.000 Each of those lives matter.

00:04:21.000 Now, that might be worthy of discussion, but nobody in the left is going to have that discussion.

00:04:25.000 Because when they say Black Lives Matter, as we learned from Don Lemon, they don't mean all Black Lives Matter.

00:04:29.000 They just mean that we don't like the police very much.

00:04:31.000 So when Barr doubled down on that and he said, I don't believe there's systemic racism in police departments, you could see the smoke start to exit the Democrats' ears.

00:04:37.000 Here was William Barr talking about systemic racism in police departments.

00:04:42.000 Does the Trump Justice Department seek to end systemic racism and racism in law enforcement?

00:04:47.000 I just need a yes or no answer.

00:04:50.000 To the extent there is racism in any of our institutions in this country, and the police, then obviously this administration will fully enforce this.

00:04:59.000 So you agree that there may be systemic racism?

00:05:01.000 In where?

00:05:04.000 Let me continue my line of questioning.

00:05:06.000 I don't agree that there's systemic racism in the police department.

00:05:09.000 Specifically, generally in this country.

00:05:11.000 Okay, this was the tenor of the questioning.

00:05:14.000 So Democrats would ask a question, and then as soon as Barr would start to answer the question, Democrats would leap in and say, I recall my time.

00:05:21.000 I reclaim my time.

00:05:23.000 And Jon Podhoris of our commentary magazine points out that that actually is not in the procedure.

00:05:27.000 Okay, when you reclaim your time normally in Congress during a correct congressional hearing, it's because you've ceded your time to another congressperson.

00:05:33.000 And then let's say you want to cut them off, then you reclaim your time.

00:05:35.000 You can't do that from a witness.

00:05:37.000 The whole point of having a witness that you're calling is to hear from the witness.

00:05:40.000 But what Democrats were there to do is browbeat Barr, and by extension, browbeat Trump, right?

00:05:44.000 That's really what this was about. 0.99

00:05:46.000 So it's just them acting like jackasses, like boorish jackasses. 0.99

00:05:49.000 And in the process, justifying violence. 0.99

00:05:51.000 It was incredible.

00:05:52.000 Barr said probably 10 times during this hearing, guys, can you just like condemn the fact that people are trying to burn down federal courthouses?

00:05:57.000 And not a word of it from Democrats.

00:05:59.000 Democrats just would not go there.

00:06:00.000 Here's William Barr saying, I don't understand.

00:06:02.000 Why can't anybody just say it's bad to burn down a courthouse?

00:06:06.000 We have the obligation to protect federal courts, and the U.S.

00:06:10.000 Marshals specifically have been given that obligation.

00:06:13.000 Federal courts are under attack.

00:06:15.000 Since when is it okay to try to burn down a federal court?

00:06:21.000 If someone went down the street to the Prettyman Court here, that beautiful courthouse we have right at the bottom of the hill, and started breaking windows and firing industrial-grade fireworks in to start a fire, throw kerosene balloons in and start fires in the court, is that okay?

00:06:36.000 Is that okay now?

00:06:38.000 Okay, and the Democrats' answer was, well, kinda.

00:06:40.000 I mean, depends who's doing it, right?

00:06:42.000 That was sort of the Democratic answer.

00:06:43.000 We'll get to that in just one moment. 1.00

00:06:44.000 Again, the idea that you should give more power to Congress, that these idiots can run your life, is beyond me. 1.00

00:06:50.000 I don't know why in the world you would. 1.00

00:08:19.000 OK, so Democrats just made asses of themselves. 0.98

00:08:22.000 It was the most impressive showing of Democratic Self-assery that I've seen since the Kavanaugh hearings. 0.99

00:08:22.000 I mean, it really was. 0.99

00:08:28.000 During the Kavanaugh hearings when they were all out there claiming that Brett Kavanaugh, a respected Catholic jurist of 40 years, was actually a gang rapist. 0.97

00:08:34.000 That was pretty bad.

00:08:35.000 Yesterday was also not particularly good for the Democrats.

00:08:38.000 So here is a montage cut from Laura Ingraham's show yesterday of Democrats insulting Barr just over and over and over, like for no reason.

00:08:46.000 Like Barr comes in and instead of them just asking him questions, they basically just yell insults at him.

00:08:51.000 And then as soon as he starts to respond, they go, I reclaim my time. 1.00

00:08:54.000 Which makes you look like a ridiculous jerk. 1.00

00:08:56.000 Here is a bunch of Democrats doing Mr. Barr yesterday. 1.00

00:08:59.000 Shame on you, Mr. Barr.

00:09:01.000 Can I just say, shame on you.

00:09:02.000 You have consistently undermined democracy, undermined the Constitution, and undermined the health, safety, and well-being of the American people. 0.97

00:09:11.000 When you all came here and brought your top staff, you brought no black people.

00:09:16.000 That, sir, is systematic racism. 0.94

00:09:18.000 Your failure to respect the role of peaceful protest in this country is a disgrace.

00:09:22.000 It's un-American. 0.82

00:09:23.000 Mr. Barr, I just asked for a yes or no, so let me just tell you, I'm starting to lose my temper.

00:09:28.000 This is my time and I control it.

00:09:31.000 I introduced H.R.E.S.

00:09:33.000 1032, which would require this committee to investigate your conduct as Attorney General and determine whether you should be impeached.

00:09:38.000 There's so much insanity in that particular montage that we actually have to break down a few of the pieces of insanity in that particular montage.

00:09:44.000 And Barr's just sitting there, looking at them like they're small children screaming at him.

00:09:48.000 I mean, I know that look on William Barr's face because I've used that look on my own children. 0.99

00:09:52.000 When my kids are freaking out about something incredibly dumb. 0.95

00:09:54.000 And I'm just sitting there like, you've gotta be kidding me. 0.97

00:09:57.000 You've absolutely got to be kidding me!

00:09:59.000 Like, come on!

00:10:00.000 Come on.

00:10:00.000 Okay, so let's break down a few of the criticisms that they just dropped on William Bard there.

00:10:05.000 So a couple of my favorites.

00:10:07.000 So I really loved, there's a representative named Richmond, where he said, you didn't bring any black staffers, which is systemic racism.

00:10:13.000 You heard him say that one.

00:10:14.000 We can play it again, this clip eight.

00:10:15.000 It's pretty fantastic.

00:10:15.000 Cedric Richmond from Louisiana.

00:10:18.000 The one thing that you have in common with your two predecessors, both Attorney General Sessions and Attorney General Whitaker, is that when you all came here and brought your top staff, you brought no black people.

00:10:31.000 That, sir, is systematic racism.

00:10:33.000 That is exactly what John Lewis spent his life fighting. 0.96

00:10:38.000 And so I would just suggest Okay, that's absurd and disgusting. 0.93

00:10:51.000 It is. 0.99

00:10:51.000 I mean, who are the black staffers that William Barr left behind because he was like, ah, you're black. 0.99

00:10:55.000 Stay back here at the DOJ. 0.99

00:10:56.000 You don't get to come because you're black. 1.00

00:10:58.000 Like, what kind of nonsense is this? 0.99

00:11:00.000 That is not systematic racism. 0.94

00:11:02.000 Hey, if I brought along top staffers from Daily Wire, I don't know exactly what race or sex they would be. 0.91

00:11:07.000 I'd have to think about that one.

00:11:08.000 I'd make a list and then whatever they are, they are.

00:11:10.000 You think William Barr is sitting around and going, well, I guess that, you know, we need some black staffers up here so we can show Cedric Richmond that we're not systematically racist. 0.70

00:11:18.000 Absolute insanity.

00:11:19.000 The other thing that Cedric Richmond says there is just despicable, where he says that William Barr should not be able to invoke John Lewis because John Lewis was about nonviolent resistance, right?

00:11:28.000 Nonviolent demonstration.

00:11:29.000 And so because Barr had disagreements with Lewis politically, that means that you're never allowed to invoke any of the good things that he did, including his support for nonviolent resistance.

00:11:36.000 Absolute craziness.

00:11:37.000 So that one was a really solid piece from a Democrat.

00:11:37.000 Absolutely.

00:11:40.000 Here's another one that was pretty solid.

00:11:42.000 So this one got all sorts of press.

00:11:44.000 Representative Jayapal, She decided to go after Barr.

00:11:48.000 And this was one of those slay queen moments.

00:11:50.000 She's a Democrat, Pramila Jayapal from Washington.

00:11:54.000 The internet went nuts for this.

00:11:55.000 So Pramila Jayapal went after William Barr, the Attorney General.

00:11:58.000 And she did so by suggesting that he is disparately treating violent protests.

00:12:02.000 There's only one problem. 1.00

00:12:03.000 Her entire story here is just crap. 0.99

00:12:05.000 It makes no sense at all. 0.99

00:12:06.000 But it was all slay queen.

00:12:07.000 And the media are so biased.

00:12:09.000 I mean, it's crazy.

00:12:10.000 You're seeing reporters tweeting out fire emojis, which obviously says objective journalism.

00:12:14.000 Here's Pramila Jayapal making a fool of herself, but the media cheering her on. 1.00

00:12:19.000 When white men with swastikas storm a government building with guns, there is no need for the president to, quote, activate you, because they're getting the president's personal agenda done. 0.98

00:12:30.000 But when black people and people of color protest police brutality, systemic racism, and the president's very own lack of response to those critical issues, then you forcibly remove them with armed federal officers Pepper bombs because they are considered terrorists by the president. 0.91

00:12:52.000 You take an aggressive approach to Black Lives Matter protests but not to right-wing extremists threatening to lynch a governor if it's for the president's benefit.

00:13:03.000 Okay, and Barr's sitting there like, I can't believe this lady. 0.64

00:13:05.000 I can't believe this.

00:13:06.000 There are a few things that she just completely blows here. 0.74

00:13:08.000 Number one, the anti-lockdown protests, which is what she is talking about there, they were peaceful.

00:13:13.000 They did not erupt into violence.

00:13:14.000 Number two, they happened on state property.

00:13:17.000 You know who doesn't get to police state property?

00:13:18.000 You know who doesn't?

00:13:19.000 The federal government.

00:13:20.000 That's not the job of William Barr.

00:13:22.000 Number three, you know what's actually happening in those cities?

00:13:24.000 Not Black Lives Matter protesters protesting on federal property.

00:13:27.000 Them trying to burn down federal courthouses, which requires the federal government to defend it.

00:13:30.000 This was a Slay Queen moment, though, because she was mean to Bill Barr. 1.00

00:13:34.000 We live in the stupidest timeline. 1.00

00:13:35.000 This is unbelievably dumb. 1.00

00:13:37.000 And then you have Representative Hank Johnson, who once compared Jews to termites, so he's a delight. 1.00

00:13:41.000 He went after Barr. He said, your opening statement reads like Alex Jones.

00:13:44.000 And Barr's like, what are you what what are you talking about? Why did I talk about I'm turning the frogs gay? What now? Here's Hank Johnson, who when he is not talking about the Jews as termites, he's talking about Guam tipping over into the sea because there are too many people on it. Here he is, one of our wise congresspeople. 0.94

00:13:59.000 General Barr, your opening statement reads like it was written by Alex Jones or Roger Stone.

00:14:09.000 Do you stand by that statement?

00:14:11.000 Yes. 0.90

00:14:14.000 He doesn't know what he's talking about because this is all absolute nonsense.

00:14:17.000 So they bring him up and they just yell at him.

00:14:20.000 They just yell at him.

00:14:21.000 I mean, that's the whole thing is they feel good about themselves because they're just yelling at him.

00:14:24.000 At one point, Steve Cohen, the Democrat from Tennessee, he actually accused Barr personally of being responsible for Epstein's death, for Jeffrey Epstein's death.

00:14:32.000 You've gone through the Fifth Amendment and due process and just negated it.

00:14:34.000 Here's the Democrat from Tennessee going after Barr by suggesting that Barr is somehow responsible.

00:14:41.000 It's Barr's fault.

00:14:42.000 Barr went in there and he strangled Jeffrey Epstein to death.

00:14:43.000 Good stuff, Democrats.

00:14:44.000 Good stuff.

00:14:45.000 You've gone through the Fifth Amendment and due process and just negated it.

00:14:50.000 And the Tenth Amendment, which leaves general policing to the law enforcement, to the state has been forgotten.

00:14:56.000 Maybe what happened was your secret police were poorly trained.

00:15:00.000 Just like your Bureau of Prisons guards were poorly trained and allowed the most notorious inmate in our nation's last several years, Jeffrey Epstein, to conveniently commit suicide.

00:15:13.000 Sad.

00:15:14.000 Sad!

00:15:15.000 Sad.

00:15:15.000 I like that he's getting all mad and his hair's flying all around.

00:15:18.000 Looks like a Wallace Shawn look-alike over here, Steve Cohen.

00:15:21.000 Good stuff there from Steve.

00:15:22.000 The Democrats really did themselves a yeoman's work.

00:15:25.000 They looked fantastic. 0.87

00:15:26.000 They even extended their argument beyond William Barr's just a mean, bad, bad man who's bad and mean.

00:15:26.000 But here's the thing.

00:15:31.000 They accused him of murder, so that was pretty solid.

00:15:32.000 We'll get to that in just one second.

00:15:34.000 First, if you've been listening to the show for a while, you've probably heard me talk about my magical Helix Sleep mattress.

00:15:38.000 It is indeed magical.

00:15:39.000 You know, I've been suffering from some severe exhaustion given the demands of my schedule lately, which means I treasure my Helix Sleep mattress.

00:15:45.000 Treasure it.

00:15:46.000 But it's not just Helix Sleep, okay?

00:15:48.000 They now have launched something new, Helix has.

00:15:50.000 They've gone beyond the bedroom, they've started making sofas.

00:15:53.000 They just launched a new company, it's called Allform.

00:15:55.000 They're making premium, customizable sofas and chairs shipped directly to your door.

00:15:58.000 So, what makes an all-form sofa really cool?

00:16:00.000 Well, for starters, it's the easiest way you can customize a sofa using premium materials and at a fraction of the cost of traditional stores.

00:16:06.000 You can pick your fabric, the sofa color, the color of the legs, sofa shape, shape to make sure it's perfect for you.

00:16:11.000 and your home.

00:16:12.000 They've got armchairs, they've got loveseats, all the way up to an 18 section.

00:16:14.000 You can keep adding to it.

00:16:15.000 You can build something really amazing for your home.

00:16:17.000 You can start small, you can bolt on more later if you want your Allform sofa to grow and change with you when you move.

00:16:22.000 They're really durable, which means a lot to me since I have kids who wreck things.

00:16:25.000 Allform sofas are delivered directly to your home with fast free shipping.

00:16:28.000 In the past, if you wanted to order a sofa, it could take weeks or even months to arrive.

00:16:32.000 You would need someone to come and assemble it in your home.

00:16:34.000 Allform takes three to seven days to arrive in the mail and you can assemble it yourself.

00:16:37.000 I have an Allform sofa.

00:16:38.000 I picked out a three-seat sofa with chaise in the sand color with espresso legs.

00:16:41.000 It is fan-freaking-tastic.

00:16:43.000 Allform is offering 20% off all orders right now for our listeners at allform.com slash Ben.

00:16:49.000 Again, that's allform.com slash Ben.

00:16:51.000 Go check them out right now.

00:16:52.000 Allform.com slash Ben for the magical discount.

00:16:56.000 Okay, so they also accused William Barr of murder.

00:16:58.000 So that was good.

00:16:59.000 He didn't just murder Jeffrey Epstein.

00:17:00.000 Overall, he was just, he was a murderer.

00:17:02.000 So this is pretty solid stuff here from a congresswoman in Powell.

00:17:07.000 What am I supposed to say to my constituents when they ask me if the government has done everything in its power to protect their loved ones from dying?

00:17:17.000 I would tell them that managing this kind of thing requires a lot of difficult choices and weighing different consequences.

00:17:25.000 I'm not going to lie.

00:17:26.000 I am not going to lie to my constituents.

00:17:29.000 I am going to tell them that President Donald Trump And the Attorney General, working together, they're letting Americans die needlessly because of political reasons.

00:17:41.000 Is it permissible for a member of this committee to accuse the sitting Attorney General of the United States of murder?

00:17:46.000 Because that's what we just heard.

00:17:48.000 Mr. Chairman, to say whatever they want?

00:17:52.000 What about rules of decorum?

00:17:54.000 Forget decorum.

00:17:55.000 Rules of decorum.

00:17:56.000 That was one of the Republicans going, wait a second, you just accused William Barr of murdering people of COVID.

00:18:00.000 And that's what happened, right?

00:18:01.000 The lady asked him a question.

00:18:03.000 The congresswoman asked him a question.

00:18:04.000 She asks, so how should I explain to my constituents how you make policy?

00:18:08.000 And he's like, well, you know, we take into account risks and rewards and then we have to make tough decisions.

00:18:12.000 Like, I'm not gonna say any of that.

00:18:13.000 I'm gonna say that you went to an old age home and you smothered grandma with a pillow, didn't you? 0.96

00:18:17.000 Didn't you?

00:18:18.000 You went and you got a vat of propofol and you just grabbed a syringe and you put the propofol in the syringe and you went up to your own grandfather and you just jabbed it right in his jugular, didn't you?

00:18:30.000 Didn't you?

00:18:32.000 Democrats, really, these are the finest among us.

00:18:34.000 They are the finest among us.

00:18:35.000 Then, when Barr attempted to defend himself, there was one point where a congresswoman was trying to shame him on Obamacare by saying, how dare you take the position on Obamacare you do?

00:18:44.000 I have had cancer, sir.

00:18:46.000 And Barr was like, I have two daughters who both have cancer. 1.00

00:18:48.000 And she's like, shut up, you! 1.00

00:18:49.000 You're not allowed to talk about your own stories. 0.98

00:18:51.000 What do you think you're doing right now?

00:18:53.000 This is clip 30.

00:18:55.000 I have two children who are cancer survivors, so I feel very strongly about this issue as a matter of policy.

00:19:03.000 And I believe that the president's made clear that he will ensure that there will- Sir, please answer my question.

00:19:10.000 Will you stop playing politics with Americans' healthcare in the middle of a pandemic? 0.79

00:19:16.000 Yeah, this is just, I'm sorry, it was ridiculous. 0.95

00:19:18.000 Okay, so this is normal sort of ridiculousness.

00:19:20.000 I'll admit, this is normal, right? 0.96

00:19:22.000 Because televised congressional sessions are basically just soap boxes for the Congress people to make fools of themselves.

00:19:29.000 The sort of badgering of the witness, that was something new, right?

00:19:31.000 That I've not really seen to that extent before.

00:19:34.000 It was extraordinarily over the top.

00:19:35.000 But where it really got ugly is when Barr started to push back.

00:19:38.000 And Barr was saying things like, so can you condemn violence at all?

00:19:41.000 Like, at all at all?

00:19:43.000 Like, it's not great that our cities are on fire right now.

00:19:45.000 And Democrats are like, our cities aren't on fire.

00:19:47.000 Our cities are perfect.

00:19:48.000 Everything is great.

00:19:50.000 Everything is great.

00:19:51.000 It's like Laura Linney from the Truman Show.

00:19:53.000 Everything is fine.

00:19:54.000 Everything's good.

00:19:55.000 And here is an ad inserted into your world.

00:19:58.000 Here is Jerry Nadler yesterday suggesting that protesters aren't mobs.

00:20:03.000 That there are no mobs.

00:20:04.000 The mobs exist only in William Barr's imagination. 1.00

00:20:06.000 Here is Jerry Nadler, a delusional idiot. 1.00

00:20:11.000 You really can't hide behind legal fictions this time, Mr. Barr. 1.00

00:20:15.000 It's all out in the open, where the people can see what you are doing for themselves.

00:20:20.000 The president wants footage for his campaign ads, and you appear to be serving it up to him as ordered.

00:20:27.000 In most of these cities, the protests had begun to wind down before you marched in and confronted the protesters.

00:20:33.000 And the protesters aren't mobs.

00:20:36.000 They are mothers and veterans and mayors.

00:20:39.000 Oh, is that what they are?

00:20:41.000 They're mothers and veterans and mayors who are burning down courthouses and assaulting people and taking over areas of city streets at the behest of the mayors. 1.00

00:20:50.000 Really well done.

00:20:51.000 OK, and it wasn't just Nadler. 1.00

00:20:52.000 OK, Nadler, you might think that he's an outlying idiot. 1.00

00:20:55.000 He, in fact, is not. 1.00

00:20:56.000 It turns out that many, many Democrats just kept claiming over and over the violence we're seeing in our streets is nothing.

00:21:01.000 It's gone.

00:21:02.000 Doesn't exist.

00:21:03.000 All in your imagination.

00:21:05.000 Here, in fact, is a montage of Democrats talking about how these were all peaceful protests.

00:21:08.000 It's all peaceful protests.

00:21:09.000 Everything is peaceful.

00:21:10.000 Mostly peaceful.

00:21:10.000 Everything's mostly peaceful.

00:21:11.000 Now, their definition of mostly peaceful is supremely fungible.

00:21:14.000 These are the same folks who suggested that Tea Partiers were terrorists for the great sin of holding rallies at which they cleaned up their own trash.

00:21:21.000 These are the same folks who suggested that anti-lockdown protesters were violent.

00:21:25.000 These are the same people who were deeply concerned when gun owners descended on the Virginia Statehouse In open carry and abided by the law and had nonviolent protests and they were like, oh, well, maybe that's that's that maybe that's violence.

00:21:37.000 Well, now they're like they're burning things down.

00:21:37.000 Maybe.

00:21:39.000 That's not that's not violence.

00:21:40.000 That's just like that's just fun, guys.

00:21:42.000 I mean, come on.

00:21:43.000 It's like miniature golf, except the flaming object.

00:21:46.000 Here's a bunch of Democrats talking about the peacefulness of the peaceful protests that are not peaceful.

00:21:50.000 The protesters aren't mobs.

00:21:53.000 They are mothers and veterans and mayors.

00:21:55.000 We've seen mothers and we've seen veterans who were peacefully protesting, not threatening the federal courthouse, beaten and gassed.

00:22:02.000 The vast majority of the protesters are peaceful.

00:22:05.000 Most of the protests have been peaceful, Mr. Barr.

00:22:08.000 You know that.

00:22:10.000 You know, you know that they've mostly been peaceful.

00:22:12.000 Yes, and the people who are peaceful are not the ones being arrested.

00:22:14.000 The ones who are violating curfew and violating the law and attacking federal courthouses are the ones who are being arrested.

00:22:19.000 Democrats know all of this, but they have a narrative.

00:22:21.000 And the question is, what exactly do they get out of this, seriously?

00:22:24.000 What do they get out of attacking federal and local law enforcement?

00:22:27.000 The answer is they're in such thrall to their left, and they just assume that because Trump is president, they can get away with it.

00:22:33.000 But I don't think they can forever.

00:22:35.000 I think they can in the short term.

00:22:36.000 I think they can in the short term.

00:22:38.000 This is why they will simply attack law enforcement.

00:22:41.000 Which, by the way, most Americans like law enforcement.

00:22:43.000 But they'll attack law enforcement what they figure is that for the next few years at least they've got some running room here.

00:22:48.000 We'll talk about that in just one second.

00:22:49.000 First, did you know that a hacker strikes every 39 seconds stealing videos, passwords, files, you name it.

00:22:54.000 They want it.

00:22:55.000 Now take a second to think about all the private information you've got on your computer and your mobile devices.

00:22:59.000 Your pictures, videos, financial information, work files, personal documents.

00:23:02.000 All of it is being targeted every 39 seconds to be more exact.

00:23:05.000 So what are you doing to stop that from happening?

00:23:07.000 You need protection.

00:23:08.000 PCmatic is making that protection happen for you.

00:23:11.000 They know hackers are constantly striking and attack methods are always changing.

00:23:14.000 That's why PCmatic does it differently.

00:23:16.000 PCmatic protects your devices by only permitting known trusted programs to run.

00:23:19.000 No matter how many times the hackers try, PCmatic keeps them out and keeps your information safe.

00:23:24.000 They're the only antivirus company that does its development research and customer support 100% in the United States.

00:23:29.000 You don't have to worry about the Chinese government using your information against you.

00:23:32.000 When it comes to cyber attacks, it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of when.

00:23:35.000 Protect yourself right now with PCmatic.

00:23:37.000 They protect Macs, Windows, servers, Android phones and tablets, pretty much everything.

00:23:40.000 Get a free month of protection with the purchase of an annual license at PCmatic.com slash Ben.

00:23:45.000 Again, that's PCmatic.com slash Ben.

00:23:48.000 Keep the bad guys out and your personal information secure with PCmatic.

00:23:51.000 That's PCmatic.com slash Ben.

00:23:54.000 Go check them out right now.

00:23:55.000 Okay, so what exactly is in it for Democrats in ripping on the police and ripping on law enforcement and defending rioters and looters?

00:24:02.000 They just believe that because Trump is so wildly unpopular, they can get away with it.

00:24:05.000 And they are afraid that their leftist base will abandon them and attack them as on the side of the fascist Trump.

00:24:10.000 It's amazing how all of politics has centralized around this point.

00:24:14.000 It also happens to be true that for literally decades, Democrats have been soft on crime.

00:24:17.000 This has been true for a very long time.

00:24:18.000 And when a Democrat was not soft on crime, such as Joe Biden in 1994, now he is retroactively ripped into for being soft on crime.

00:24:25.000 For being hard on crime, rather. 0.99

00:24:27.000 This is how you end up with Congresswoman named Lofgren saying yesterday that when there is police that breaks out in the streets, when there's violence that breaks out in the streets, Zoe Lofgren of California, full-scale moron. 0.98

00:24:38.000 When she says that violence breaks out on the streets, you have to blame the police. 0.98

00:24:42.000 It's the cops' fault.

00:24:43.000 You see, the cops who are responding to the violence, they're the ones who are actually causing the violence.

00:24:49.000 It's one thing to fight crime with joint task forces.

00:24:53.000 That involves the cooperation of state and local officials.

00:24:58.000 But the governor of Oregon and the mayor of Portland has asked that the federal troops leave because the reaction has actually been in reverse proportion.

00:25:11.000 People are showing up because the troops are there.

00:25:15.000 And I'd like to say that so many of them, I would say most of them are nonviolent.

00:25:22.000 Everybody's nonviolent.

00:25:23.000 It's only the troops that are causing the problem.

00:25:26.000 It's only the troops.

00:25:27.000 I'm old enough to remember when Democrats actually mouthed support for police and federal law enforcement.

00:25:32.000 Now they've just decided they're done with it.

00:25:34.000 Zoe Lofgren then continued by saying that President Trump hopes to win by sending troops to American cities.

00:25:38.000 So she's repeating the nonsense put out by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, who suggested the other day Trump is looking for martial law in cities.

00:25:44.000 That's why he's defending courthouses.

00:25:46.000 Here is Representative Lofgren yesterday going after William Barr.

00:25:51.000 Millions of Americans have been infected.

00:25:54.000 Tens of thousands are dying, and the president needs to divert from that failure.

00:26:00.000 And what is the playbook?

00:26:03.000 The playbook is to create the impression that there is violence, that he must send in federal troops, and that the American people should be afraid of other Americans and trust the president because he's going to say something It's not that you're watching the news, and it's not that you're watching the internet, it's not that you've seen videos of people taking over large areas of downtown cities.

00:26:31.000 No, it's all an impression that Trump is creating.

00:26:33.000 He has that magical, magical ability.

00:26:35.000 So okay, at a certain point, William Barr had had enough of this.

00:26:37.000 And basically, the entire Democratic show here was an attempt to shut Barr down and prevent him from talking.

00:26:41.000 Right, we'll ask you a question, Barr will start to answer, and then we say we reclaim our time.

00:26:44.000 That didn't stop Barr from getting in a few counterjabs.

00:26:47.000 So, there's one point where one of the congresspeople is going after Barr and saying, you know, even church leaders were angry that you cleared Lafayette Square.

00:26:54.000 And Barr was like, yeah, was that before or after they put out the fire at the church?

00:26:59.000 Are you aware that the Rector of the Church, that the Episcopal Archbishop of Washington, and the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church nationally, along with the Catholic Bishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, all denounced this police assault on the civil rights and civil liberties of the people?

00:27:16.000 Did they do that before or after the fire was put out?

00:27:20.000 All that I know is that they denounced what you did.

00:27:24.000 Raskin, that guy.

00:27:24.000 J.D.

00:27:26.000 His head's so far up his ass that it's coming out of his face again. 1.00

00:27:28.000 It's incredible. 1.00

00:27:29.000 That's good stuff.

00:27:32.000 Also, some of these questions were just so bad.

00:27:34.000 So Ted Deutch went after Barr, the representative from Florida.

00:27:38.000 He went after Barr.

00:27:39.000 And he suggested that Barr had basically gotten Roger Stone pardoned.

00:27:42.000 And Barr was like, um, that never happened.

00:27:44.000 I don't know what you're talking about.

00:27:46.000 The Democrats didn't even bother to do like basic research before they just started going after Barr.

00:27:50.000 So here's the problem.

00:27:51.000 Barr actually has a triple digit IQ as opposed to many of the other members of Congress.

00:27:55.000 And so here's an exchange between Deutsche and Barr in which Barr just wrecks Deutsche.

00:27:59.000 He started on July 31st.

00:28:01.000 The first week he was there, he came to raise this issue.

00:28:04.000 I think he started February 1st.

00:28:06.000 Right.

00:28:06.000 The first week he was there, he came into your office to raise the issue of sentencing.

00:28:10.000 In the interview you did with ABC, you said... No, I don't think he came... That's what you told ABC News.

00:28:16.000 You said that he's talked to senior staff.

00:28:18.000 Not you, perhaps, but he talked to senior staff.

00:28:22.000 I don't know.

00:28:23.000 You know, I think I speak English.

00:28:25.000 I said that before he came in to see me, I believe he had some conversation.

00:28:30.000 Conversation with the senior staff.

00:28:31.000 Right.

00:28:32.000 So Barr kept asking for people to be precise and Democrats just couldn't be precise and they wouldn't be precise.

00:28:32.000 Okay.

00:28:36.000 And so Barr just kept being like, I'm speaking, like, are we speaking the same?

00:28:39.000 And the answer is no, they're not speaking the same language. 0.94

00:28:41.000 Barr was trying to answer questions and Democrats were trying to browbeat him to the point where Nadler actually refused him a bathroom break in the middle of this, which is just like the biggest ass move of all time, right?

00:28:50.000 How old is Barr?

00:28:51.000 Barr's got to be closing in on 70 if he's not 70 already.

00:28:54.000 William Barr.

00:28:54.000 So that prostate's got to be going at a certain point here.

00:28:57.000 Yeah, he's exactly 70 years old.

00:28:59.000 And so, you know, sometimes you got to pee.

00:29:01.000 And Barr was like, can I have a bathroom break?

00:29:04.000 And now there's like, no, you can't. 1.00

00:29:05.000 I was like, what kind of stupid crap is this? 1.00

00:29:10.000 Here it was, your Congress at work. 1.00

00:29:13.000 Could we take a five-minute break, Mr. Chairman?

00:29:15.000 No.

00:29:16.000 That's a common courtesy, Mr. Chairman, of every witness.

00:29:20.000 I waited 45... an hour for you this morning.

00:29:23.000 I haven't had lunch.

00:29:24.000 I'd like to take a five-minute break.

00:29:26.000 Mr. Attorney General, we are almost finished.

00:29:29.000 We're going to be finished in a few minutes.

00:29:32.000 Otherwise, we can certainly take a break.

00:29:36.000 You're real classic.

00:29:41.000 It's unbelievable.

00:29:42.000 I mean, they're just, no, we won't take a five minute break.

00:29:44.000 We won't because you're a bad man.

00:29:46.000 So you won't be allowed to pee.

00:29:48.000 Also, Barr was asked whether he was a Republican or not.

00:29:50.000 They're like, you're a Republican, aren't you?

00:29:51.000 And Barr's like, uh, yeah.

00:29:54.000 Yeah, I am. 1.00

00:29:55.000 Representative Scanlon, again, a greater repository of stupidity has never been unearthed than apparently the House Judiciary Committee. 1.00

00:30:01.000 This is solid stuff here. 0.99

00:30:03.000 You said in 2017 that prosecutors who make political contributions are identifying fairly strongly with a political party, correct?

00:30:11.000 Yes, yes.

00:30:12.000 And in fact, you and your wife have donated over $730,000 to Republican and conservative candidates, including donations of $58,000 to Republican senators and Senate candidates in the four months preceding your confirmation.

00:30:28.000 That's correct, isn't it?

00:30:29.000 Are you surprised I'm a Republican?

00:30:32.000 Well, the media were.

00:30:33.000 The media were very surprised he was a Republican.

00:30:35.000 So the media's treatment of this was perfectly on point for the media, which is, he can just be ripped up and down, Barr, and he's supposed to sit there and take it. 0.56

00:30:41.000 And if he doesn't, he's a very bad, mean man. 0.96

00:30:44.000 He's a very bad, terrible, mean man. 0.79

00:30:46.000 This led a bunch of Democrats to go out there and whine about how Barr had disrespected them. 0.99

00:30:50.000 They literally accused him of murder, refused him a bathroom break, and suggested that he kill Jeffrey Epstein.

00:30:55.000 And then they're like, why aren't you being respectful?

00:30:57.000 Why aren't you being respectful?

00:30:58.000 And then when you would answer, they'd be like, well, I seized back my time because you're being disrespectful, sir.

00:31:03.000 A bunch of Democrats calling Barr disrespectful for no apparent reason.

00:31:07.000 Have you now called for law enforcement to stop using these chemical irritants on protesters?

00:31:12.000 Yes or no?

00:31:13.000 Pepper spray?

00:31:15.000 Yes.

00:31:15.000 No.

00:31:16.000 I think it's a very important non-lethal option.

00:31:16.000 No.

00:31:20.000 For protesters.

00:31:21.000 No, for rioters.

00:31:23.000 That was my question.

00:31:24.000 For protesters.

00:31:25.000 No, for rioters.

00:31:26.000 Yes.

00:31:27.000 Sir, America was founded on the principles of free speech.

00:31:30.000 When people resist law enforcement, they're not peaceful.

00:31:33.000 I'm reclaiming my time.

00:31:34.000 I'm surprised at your lack of respect for a member of Congress. 0.96

00:31:38.000 Okay, well, first of all, whenever a congressperson does this, it's the biggest, ridiculous, it's the worst move. 0.98

00:31:43.000 It's the worst move. 0.82

00:31:44.000 I remember Barbara Boxer did this to a service member at one point.

00:31:46.000 Call me Senator.

00:31:47.000 Don't call me Ms.

00:31:49.000 Call me Senator.

00:31:50.000 I'm surprised at your lack of respect for a congressperson.

00:31:53.000 He's the Attorney General of the United States.

00:31:54.000 Where's your respect for him?

00:31:56.000 I mean, that is a that is a congressional approved appointment right there.

00:32:00.000 And you represent like some district somewhere.

00:32:03.000 Yeah, I have tons of respect for you.

00:32:04.000 Oh, you're a Congress person.

00:32:05.000 Oh, I don't have Congress people to know that they don't deserve a lot of respect.

00:32:09.000 I know of Congress people personally to know that they don't deserve tons of respect.

00:32:13.000 In just a second, we'll get some media treatment of this, which is predictably awful.

00:32:16.000 I mean, it's predictably awful.

00:32:18.000 And we'll get to also the question of, again, why are Democrats going along with the violence and the looting?

00:32:23.000 And Joe Biden, Put out a statement kind of condemning the violence, kind of condemning it, but mostly it was just about Trump.

00:32:28.000 He's trying to walk that middle line.

00:32:29.000 We'll get to that in just one second.

00:32:31.000 First, let's talk about the fact that you really don't want to be going to an auto parts store right now.

00:32:41.000 Rockauto.com, it's much easier than walking into a store and someone demanding quick answers to things like, is your Odyssey an LX or an EX?

00:32:47.000 And then they just have to order the part online anyways.

00:32:49.000 You have to wait for it because there are lots of types of cars and you can't keep everything stocked and they overcharge you because they're charging you rather than charging a professional.

00:32:56.000 RockAuto.com.

00:32:57.000 Okay, it's a family business.

00:33:31.000 Rock auto.com right now, right Shapiro in that here.

00:33:34.000 How did you hear about us box?

00:33:35.000 So they know that we sent you already.

00:33:37.000 We'll get back to the full scale media insanity.

00:33:41.000 Their reaction to this congressional hearing was look at these beautiful, wonderful Democrats.

00:33:44.000 And look at that mean man, Bill Barr.

00:33:46.000 This sort of gaslighting.

00:33:48.000 You wonder why people have lost their faith in major American institutions.

00:33:51.000 I think we know the answer to that.

00:33:52.000 We'll get to that in a second.

00:33:53.000 First, if you haven't heard by now, my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps, it's officially on sale.

00:33:58.000 You probably heard about it because it was the number two bestselling book in America on Amazon this week.

00:34:02.000 And we are just waiting for the New York Times rankings to come out.

00:34:05.000 It's going to be near the top of those charts as well.

00:34:07.000 The book covers the disintegrationist philosophy of the United States.

00:34:10.000 That is, to make real social progress, the entire American system has to be dissolved and replaced with a, quote-unquote, more equal system, a government top-down, tyrannical system.

00:34:18.000 You can see the narrative playing out in real time before our eyes in major cities and in Congress.

00:34:22.000 How to Destroy America in three easy steps of details. 0.98

00:34:24.000 How this garbage, disintegrationist worldview has gained cultural ground so quickly. 0.99

00:34:28.000 Why it's so seductive. 0.97

00:34:30.000 You can get your copy at Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

00:34:32.000 And if you like the book, please hop in and leave a five-star review.

00:34:34.000 That keeps it higher on the charts so more people see it.

00:34:37.000 Enjoy.

00:34:37.000 Also, 2020, it's been a wild year, has it not?

00:34:40.000 I mean, Trump was impeached this year.

00:35:44.000 So the media responded to all of this with sheer gusto and joy with regards to the Democrats and pure rage at William Barr for the great sin of being existent.

00:35:59.000 So this led Chuck Todd, very objective Chuck Todd, just journalism-ing all over the place, just getting his journalism everywhere.

00:36:04.000 Here's Chuck Todd saying he was very surprised at how partisan Barr was.

00:36:08.000 How partisan Barr was!

00:36:09.000 And you heard all the clips.

00:36:10.000 People literally accusing the man of murder and saying, yeah, if you talk about your cancer-stricken daughters, that's bad, we're not gonna let you do that.

00:36:16.000 Here's Chuck Todd being, yeah, but William Barr responded, and that means he's a partisan.

00:36:20.000 I've been surprised at how comfortable Bill Barr is playing a partisan.

00:36:24.000 And I say it this way.

00:36:26.000 He lets misstatements go if they're from allies.

00:36:31.000 He corrects misstatements on the left.

00:36:33.000 He had an odd view of testing, somehow blaming Barack Obama and the CDC.

00:36:39.000 It was sort of the type of answer you'd expect from a political pundit on a certain cable channel, not necessarily from the sitting Attorney General.

00:36:48.000 Oh, you know, he was being political, Barr.

00:36:50.000 Chuck Todd can't believe it.

00:36:52.000 Eric Holder literally called himself Barack Obama's wingman.

00:36:54.000 But Attorney General Barr is being political.

00:36:57.000 And then Andrea Mitchell, she came out and she said, you know, he keeps talking about violence.

00:37:01.000 All these Republicans, they keep talking about violence in our streets.

00:37:04.000 That's all selectively edited.

00:37:04.000 That's not happening.

00:37:06.000 Selectively edited, guys.

00:37:08.000 As opposed to when we just show you the peaceful stuff and not fireworks flying into the federal courthouse.

00:37:12.000 It's all selectively edited, says Andrea Mitchell, getting her journalism everywhere as well.

00:37:17.000 Ranking Republican Jim Jordan showed a graphic, selectively edited, nearly 8-minute montage of protests from around the country, which he claimed were anything but peaceful, including sound bites from Democrats Biden and Obama.

00:37:31.000 Clearly very political and highly edited.

00:37:35.000 Oh, very political and highly edited, as opposed to NBC News' coverage, which is apolitical and non-edited.

00:37:40.000 They just show raw footage from the streets in Portland.

00:37:42.000 That's what they do.

00:37:43.000 Perhaps my favorite example of a media member just completely botching it is Joy Reid, who, again, IQ of a kumquat, Joy Reid. 0.72

00:37:49.000 This is not a bright person.

00:37:52.000 Also, apparently, was hacked years ago.

00:37:55.000 Retroactively.

00:37:56.000 Somebody took a time machine back to her blog and wrote a bunch of homophobic stuff. 1.00

00:37:58.000 Anyway, Joy Reid tweeted out, say the whole word bar. 0.98

00:38:01.000 What does Antifa stand for?

00:38:03.000 Spell it out.

00:38:04.000 Okay, I'll do it for you.

00:38:05.000 Anti-fascist.

00:38:06.000 Now, do go on.

00:38:08.000 Hashtag bar hearing, because bar was going after Antifa.

00:38:10.000 You know, since they call themselves anti-fascist, that means that they're anti-fascist.

00:38:13.000 Like the People's Republic of China.

00:38:14.000 It's actually a people's republic, you see.

00:38:16.000 So if you worry about abuses and you worry about tyranny over there, that's because you're not reading the name.

00:38:20.000 It says right in the name, PRC, People's Republic of China.

00:38:24.000 It says right in the name of North Korea that it is a republic.

00:38:27.000 It literally says it right there.

00:38:28.000 So I don't know what you're complaining about, like tyranny over there.

00:38:31.000 You know, the Nazis, the National Socialist Party says right in the name, socialist. 0.85

00:38:37.000 So I don't know why you're so upset about it.

00:38:38.000 Like, what?

00:38:41.000 We deserve a better class of press. 0.71

00:38:43.000 That is for damn sure.

00:38:44.000 Meanwhile, Joe Biden, basically, again, he's run a fairly error-free campaign at this point because not much has been required of him. 0.80

00:38:51.000 All he has to do is not be Trump and be slightly alive.

00:38:54.000 And when I say slightly alive, I don't mean like super alive.

00:38:56.000 Super alive means that he's gaffing all over the place.

00:38:58.000 Well, he needs to be slightly alive.

00:39:00.000 Like, he has to be able to breathe somewhat comfortably in and out, and every so often express noise through his mouth.

00:39:05.000 That's pretty much all that is required for Joe Biden to win the election, given all of the pre-existing conditions in this election.

00:39:12.000 So Joe Biden put out a statement on the violence, finally, after some weeks.

00:39:16.000 Here was Joe Biden's statement.

00:39:18.000 I've said from the outset of recent protests, there's no place for violence and destruction of property.

00:39:22.000 right, the guy standing up against the wild left. Even Joe Biden, he has to turn it into a diatribe against Trump. He can't just say it's bad that people are burning down our cities. So he says this, quote, I've said from the outset of recent protests, there's no place for violence and destruction of property. Peaceful protesters should be malarkey protected and arsonists and anarchists should be prosecuted. Local law enforcement can do that.

00:39:45.000 When President Obama and I were in office, we protected him.

00:39:50.000 Sorry, then he fell asleep.

00:39:51.000 The rest of his statement says, Local law enforcement can do that.

00:39:53.000 When President Obama and I were in office, we protected federal property.

00:39:57.000 Which is weird.

00:39:59.000 I remember Baltimore and Ferguson burnings.

00:40:00.000 And we were able to do it without the Department of Homeland Security turning into a private militia.

00:40:04.000 So now he's suggesting that law enforcement agents are a private militia for the president, which is a lie.

00:40:08.000 Because he's determined to stoke chaos and division.

00:40:11.000 This can be done today, but that wouldn't help Trump's political interests.

00:40:14.000 It's not good for the country, but Donald Trump doesn't care.

00:40:16.000 His campaign is failing.

00:40:17.000 He's looking for a political lifeline.

00:40:19.000 This isn't about law and order.

00:40:20.000 It's about a political strategy to revive a failing campaign.

00:40:23.000 Every instinct Trump has is to add fuel to the fire.

00:40:25.000 That's the last thing.

00:40:26.000 The last thing we need.

00:40:28.000 We need leadership to calm the waters and lower the temperature.

00:40:30.000 That's how we will restore peace in the streets.

00:40:34.000 So the way you'll restore peace in the streets is by not getting involved when they assault federal property.

00:40:38.000 That's how you'll do it.

00:40:39.000 And does Joe Biden have any idea about how to get local law enforcement involved?

00:40:43.000 Of course not.

00:40:44.000 So basically he says, violence is bad, but also I would do nothing about it.

00:40:47.000 So this is where we now sit.

00:40:49.000 We now sit in a time where the mainstream Democratic Party, including the presidential candidate, have basically made the decision that while they'll sort of scoff at and tut-tut some of the violence going on in the streets, They're not going to do anything about it.

00:41:00.000 And they're going to yell if anybody does do anything about it, which mostly suggests that they're rooting for the chaos, that they kind of like the chaos, that they're fond of the chaos.

00:41:06.000 And anybody who stands up to the chaos is sort of the problem.

00:41:10.000 Now, meanwhile, there's a lot of speculation going on about Biden's VP candidate, because, of course, that will be the next president of the United States.

00:41:16.000 Everyone knows that Biden is a short term proposition.

00:41:21.000 By some miracle, the man is healthy enough to live through one term.

00:41:24.000 There is there is not going to be a second, I would assume.

00:41:26.000 I mean, it's very difficult to imagine a man running for reelection at 83.

00:41:30.000 But in any case, there's a lot of talk about Kamala Harris.

00:41:34.000 That talk was exacerbated yesterday when Politico somehow put up on their website an announcement that Harris had been selected.

00:41:40.000 It was obviously a pre-written announcement, but it didn't matter.

00:41:43.000 People caught on to it.

00:41:44.000 Well, apparently a lot of Biden's allies are like, you shouldn't select Kamala Harris, which is true, by the way.

00:41:48.000 It is true.

00:41:48.000 Kamala Harris is controversial.

00:41:50.000 She says dumb things. 1.00

00:41:51.000 She's a bad candidate. 1.00

00:41:53.000 Joe Biden doesn't need Kamala Harris.

00:41:55.000 He doesn't.

00:41:56.000 This bizarre notion that he needs a black woman on the ticket to earn black votes belies everything that happened in the primaries, where Kamala Harris won zero votes at all.

00:42:03.000 Zero votes.

00:42:04.000 And then Joe Biden won an overwhelming majority of black votes in the Democratic primaries.

00:42:08.000 He doesn't need Kamala Harris for this sort of thing. 0.99

00:42:10.000 Kamala Harris doesn't bring him anything.

00:42:12.000 Instead, she just becomes the target of focus.

00:42:15.000 So if he's smart, what he will do, he's already suggested he's going to pick a black woman. 0.99

00:42:20.000 If he's smart, what he will do is he will pick somebody who's a little bit less controversial, probably still just as bad. 0.99

00:42:25.000 Susan Rice is just a terrible, terrible person.

00:42:27.000 Susan Rice. 0.98

00:42:29.000 Aside from lying routinely to the American public about Benghazi, Susan Rice makes bizarre, wild political suggestions on a regular basis.

00:42:37.000 When Benjamin Netanyahu spoke in Congress during the Obama administration, she suggested that he did so because he was racist against Obama. 0.89

00:42:43.000 I mean, she's also radical and crazy, but people don't perceive anything about Susan Rice. 0.95

00:42:47.000 She's sort of nondescript, as opposed to Kamala Harris.

00:42:50.000 People have very strong feelings about Kamala Harris, as well they should, because she is very, very bad at being both a senator, she was a bad attorney general of the state of California, So a lot of Biden's allies are now pushing against this, apparently, according to CNBC.

00:43:00.000 Some of Biden's allies are waging a campaign behind the scenes to stop Kamala Harris from becoming his VP.

00:43:05.000 This disgruntled group of at least a dozen Biden backers, including a few of his top donors, initiated the move against Harris close to a month ago, just before a decision is expected.

00:43:13.000 Many who spoke to CNBC declined to be named, as these efforts have been made in private.

00:43:18.000 In some cases, her foes have taken their concerns directly to members of Biden's VP search committee, led by former Senator Chris Dodd.

00:43:23.000 By the way, it is nuts that Chris Dodd is leading up that team.

00:43:26.000 Chris Dodd famously had waitress sandwiches with Ted Kennedy back in the 1990s.

00:43:31.000 They literally sexually assaulted waitresses.

00:43:32.000 It was described in an article.

00:43:34.000 I think it was in GQ in the early 1990s.

00:43:37.000 Although none of these actions signify that Biden will drop Harris from the list, the movement gives a glimpse into the effort being waged to derail her candidacy.

00:43:43.000 Some remain bitter about her attacks on Biden during primary debates last year, saying they bring into question her loyalty to the former VP.

00:43:49.000 Others argue she's too ambitious and will be solely focused on becoming president herself. 1.00

00:43:53.000 Many of these Biden associates have been pushing alternatives like Val Demings from Florida or Karen Bass from California or Susan Rice or Senator Tammy Duckworth of Illinois.

00:44:02.000 Of those people, by the way, Duckworth would probably be the best pick, simply because her service in the military, the fact she lost her legs in Iraq, serving the country, it makes her politically immune to a lot of the attacks that have been leveraged against other Democrats.

00:44:17.000 Biden said at a press conference Tuesday he will be making his final decision next week.

00:44:20.000 At the time of his remarks, he was holding a set of notes that appeared to vouch for Harris.

00:44:24.000 Some people thought that was actually a bit of a misdirect.

00:44:27.000 There are some people who are saying that she'd be a bad pick because she's so opportunistic. 0.99

00:44:31.000 That, of course, is exactly right.

00:44:32.000 Biden should pick somebody he's comfortable with.

00:44:34.000 Honestly, those are the people who tend to be the most effective VPs, are the people the president is comfortable with.

00:44:39.000 Dick Cheney, Biden himself, Obama was pretty comfortable with Biden.

00:44:43.000 The same is not true for Kamala Harris.

00:44:44.000 Okay, meanwhile, on the COVID front, A lot of news about death in Florida.

00:44:49.000 The deaths have been trailing.

00:44:50.000 They're a lagging indicator in Florida, as they are everywhere else.

00:44:54.000 Because the cases spiked pretty strongly in Florida over the past few weeks, you've seen a spike in deaths that is followed by about a week and a half to spike in cases.

00:45:01.000 Today, Florida said that they'd had about 216 reported deaths.

00:45:05.000 Those didn't all happen today.

00:45:06.000 Those have been happening.

00:45:07.000 Those are reported.

00:45:08.000 You know, the reporting comes in.

00:45:09.000 So that's been happening over the past week or so.

00:45:11.000 Florida is total up to about 6,300 deaths.

00:45:14.000 6,335 deaths.

00:45:18.000 California reported 169 deaths as of yesterday, and Texas about 121 deaths as of yesterday.

00:45:25.000 Now, there is some really sort of interesting data when it comes to contrasting and comparing states because the media have been very focused in on the idea that Florida and Arizona and Texas really botched this thing, but New York and New Jersey are doing exactly the right thing.

00:45:39.000 You see this being said over and over and over again.

00:45:42.000 That's not right.

00:45:43.000 Also, there's not a lot of evidence that California has peaked yet.

00:45:45.000 So while everybody's focusing on Texas and Arizona and Florida, the evidence tends to show that hospitalizations are now going down.

00:45:51.000 Case diagnosis is actually going down.

00:45:52.000 We've now reached the other side of the hill for those states.

00:45:54.000 California continues to escalate.

00:45:57.000 But in terms of which states did well and which states did not, if you look at total cases per one million population, The top five states in terms of total cases per million population are Louisiana, Arizona, New York, Florida, and New Jersey.

00:46:10.000 In terms of deaths per one million population, for Arizona, New York, Florida, and New Jersey, right?

00:46:16.000 That provides a pretty good sort of counter.

00:46:19.000 Arizona has 475 deaths per million.

00:46:21.000 New York has nearly 1,700 deaths per million.

00:46:23.000 Florida has 295 deaths per million.

00:46:24.000 1700 deaths per million. Florida has 295 deaths per million.

00:46:28.000 New Jersey had 1787 deaths per million.

00:46:31.000 So for all the talk about how the the Arizonas and the Floridas of the world blew it.

00:46:37.000 Their death rate is anywhere from one-eighth to one-quarter the death rate in New Jersey and New York.

00:46:43.000 So spare me all of the Andrew Cuomo is a great governor and Ron DeSantis is a disaster area.

00:46:48.000 That obviously is simply not true.

00:46:51.000 Okay, well, we'll be back here tomorrow with much, much more.

00:46:55.000 And make sure that you go and pick up a copy of my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps, soaring up the bestseller charts.

00:47:00.000 Keep it going, really appreciate it.
