Summary

Ben Shapiro argues that Hillary Clinton is worse than Donald Trump as a human being, and that if anything, she's even worse than him as a politician. He says there's a good reason why so many Republicans are still backing her, and why they're not doing so because they like her or because they think she's a better presidential candidate than Trump, but because she's better than Trump because she is a better politician than Trump is a reason they're still supporting her. Shapiro also points out that the media have played fast and loose with Hillary Clinton for years, elevating her to the number one spot on the Democratic primary ballot because they don't want Trump to win the nomination, but rather because they want her to be president and they don t want to see Donald Trump win the election. Ben Shapiro is a columnist for The Daily Wire and host of the podcast "The Ben Shapiro Show" and is a regular contributor to CNN and the New York Times. He's also the author of several books, including "The Dark Side of America" and "The Besties: A Guide to America's Most Powerful Person in the White House." He's on the Tonight Show with Seth Meyers and hosts "The View From The Ground" on HBO's "Keeping Up With Bill Maher" and hosts his own show on CBS Radio's "The Nightly Show with Craig Kilgariff and Alex Blumberg on "The Tonight Show" on "Good Morning America" on CBS. and "Saturday Night's Nightly News with John McCain on CBS's "America's Most Influential Person." on the importance of standing up to Hillary Clinton and why she should vote for her in the Democratic presidential candidate, not Donald Trump on November 6th. on CNN s Hillary Clinton on November 8, 2020. And he's a regular on CNN's "Black Swan" on Hard Knocks on CNN on November 9th and 11th, and on The Nightlyowson's "Saturday Morning Show on CBS Evening Show on The Late Night Show on "Black Swans." on NBC's "Morning Joe" on The FiveThirtyEight on The Morning Joe on November 16, and much, and the rest of the evening on November 17, 2020 on "America s Most Powerful People on The Tonight Show on November 7th and November 17th, and much more. He also tweets about his new book, "The Black Swan" and explains why he thinks Hillary Clinton should be the next president.

Transcript

00:00:00.000 On Monday, sensing a political advantage after Donald Trump decided it was a wonderful idea to smear a Gold Star family, sneered at Republicans for failing to sufficiently disown Donald Trump.
00:00:10.000 Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, one of the scummiest politicians on the planet, targeted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.
00:00:17.000 He said, quote, Senator McConnell and Speaker Ryan approvingly spoke at Donald Trump's convention, endorsed Donald Trump for president, and believe he is mentally fit to sit in the Oval Office.
00:00:26.000 Occasional statements that do nothing to repudiate Donald Trump's words and actions are spineless.
00:00:31.000 Anything short of revoking their endorsements is cowardice.
00:00:33.000 This shouldn't be hard.
00:00:34.000 Donald Trump is a sexist and racist man who insults gold star parents, stokes fear of Muslims, and sows hatred of Latinos.
00:00:39.000 He should not be president, and Republican leaders have a moral responsibility to say so.
00:00:43.000 That was Harry Reid, the most immoral man in the Senate.
00:00:45.000 Leftist Greg Sargent of the Washington Post wrote a similar piece making a similar argument.
00:00:50.000 He wrote,
00:01:00.000 It's kind of true, but there is one problem.
00:01:03.000 Democrats don't get to preen about the moral shortcomings of Donald Trump and Republican cowardice for supporting him.
00:01:08.000 They're cheering wildly for Hillary Clinton.
00:01:10.000 Here are three reasons why.
00:01:11.000 First, Hillary is worse than Trump as a human.
00:01:14.000 Over the weekend, one major political candidate earned a 4 Pinocchio rating from the Washington Post.
00:01:19.000 That same candidate slurred Gold Star Families as liars.
00:01:22.000 That candidate was, of course, Hillary Clinton, who appeared on national TV to explain that FBI Director James Comey had fully cleared her.
00:01:29.000 He'd even said she was honest.
00:01:31.000 This, of course, was a lie.
00:01:32.000 Then Hillary went on to claim that Benghazi Gold Star families must have misremembered her comments to them about a YouTube video being responsible for their kid's death.
00:01:41.000 Hillary can complain all she wants about Trump's connections with Putin, but she's the one who handed Putin a reset button, then cut a nuclear deal that allowed the Russians into our uranium mines.
00:01:49.000 For every Trump sin, there's one just as bad in Hillary's closet, and usually worse, since she was working for the government at the time.
00:01:55.000 Second reason.
00:01:56.000 Trump is our black swan.
00:01:57.000 Here's the thing.
00:01:58.000 You guys wanted Hillary.
00:02:00.000 Donald Trump, as everybody knows, was a once-in-a-century aberration.
00:02:03.000 Republicans never expected him to do well, let alone win the nomination.
00:02:06.000 As soon as it became clear Trump would have a serious shot at the nomination, a lot of Republicans announced they would never back him.
00:02:12.000 Like me.
00:02:13.000 Today, many Republicans who will back him do so out of a simple moral calculus that he's better than Hillary, not because they like him.
00:02:19.000 The same is not true for Hillary.
00:02:20.000 Not only do Democrats want Hillary to be president, the DNC worked arduously to deny Sanders the nomination.
00:02:27.000 The media have played fast and loose with Hillary, denying her evils, pushing her all the way to her historic nomination.
00:02:33.000 Before you start gloating about Republican moral failings, take a look in the mirror.
00:02:36.000 You begged for Hillary.
00:02:37.000 Most Republicans try to stop Trump.
00:02:39.000 Final reason.
00:02:40.000 You guys are still backing Hillary.
00:02:41.000 There are lots of Republicans who aren't planning to vote for Trump, including me.
00:02:45.000 Even the ones who will are out condemning Trump over the Gold Star Family thing.
00:02:48.000 Where exactly are the Democrats condemning Hillary's corruption?
00:02:51.000 Where's the Never Hillary movement from the left?
00:02:53.000 Why do leftists get to claim moral superiority for ardently supporting a worse candidate?
00:02:58.000 In a normal world, they wouldn't.
00:02:59.000 But they can, because the media have been propping up a cackling, corrupt old crone for two decades, and they're not going to stop now.
00:03:05.000 So no, Democrats have no moral superiority for backing Hillary.
00:03:08.000 They just have, as always, their own perceived and unearned moral superiority.
00:03:12.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:03:13.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:03:20.000 Okay, so first I want to start off by thanking one of our sponsors, Harry's.
00:03:24.000 Harry's Razors.
00:03:25.000 They do a really good job.
00:03:26.000 So, Harry's is a fantastic company.
00:03:28.000 You basically order with them and become part of what's basically a shaving club.
00:03:32.000 And their product is really great.
00:03:34.000 I mean, I use the product under my chin.
00:03:36.000 The way it works in Jewish law is you don't shave with a straight edge on your face.
00:03:40.000 You can shave under your jawline with a straight edge, which is of course the hardest part to shave.
00:03:43.000 And Harry's really does the trick.
00:03:44.000 Their products are fantastic.
00:03:46.000 Harry's right now has a starter set called the Truman, and it's a great option for new customers.
00:03:50.000 This is what they sent me, and I love it.
00:03:51.000 I've been using it, you know, every day except this one when I didn't shave because I was too lazy.
00:03:54.000 But for $15, you get this razor handle and a moisturizing shave cream and three of Harry's five-bladed German-engineered razors.
00:04:02.000 Plus, if you're a fan of the show, you get a special offer.
00:04:04.000 You go to harrys.com, you type in promo code SHAPIRO, you get $5 off of that.
00:04:07.000 So $15 for that, you get $5 off.
00:04:09.000 So it's $10 for you.
00:04:11.000 So if you go to harrys.com,
00:04:12.000 With promo code BEN, then you get $5 off.
00:04:15.000 You also help support our show, obviously.
00:04:16.000 You support our advertisers.
00:04:17.000 You support the show.
00:04:18.000 You make sure the Dominions who run the teleprompter and who run the cameras don't go hungry tonight.
00:04:23.000 Don't let the children go hungry, gang.
00:04:25.000 Go over to harrys.com.
00:04:27.000 We do use children.
00:04:27.000 We use child labor.
00:04:29.000 Go over to Harrys.com, promo code Ben, and the razors are cheaper, they are better, they're superior in every way, and I can tell you that because I've used multiple razors, and this is the best razor that I've ever used under the jawline area for me.
00:04:43.000 So Harrys.com, promo code Ben.
00:04:45.000 All right, so we have a lot to get to today here on the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:04:48.000 Glenn Beck is going to be joining us momentarily.
00:04:51.000 Do we have Glenn on the line at this point?
00:04:54.000 Let's see.
00:04:55.000 Is Glenn here?
00:04:58.000 Okay, perfect.
00:04:59.000 So Glenn is joining us right now.
00:05:01.000 Glenn Beck, of course, the iconic talk show host, the iconic leader in the conservative movement.
00:05:06.000 And Glenn has a brand new book out called Liars.
00:05:08.000 Glenn, thanks so much for coming on the show.
00:05:10.000 Thank you, Ben.
00:05:11.000 Okay, so let's just jump right into it.
00:05:12.000 You have this brand new book called Liars, and the basic premise, the subtitle is, how progressives exploit our fears for power and control.
00:05:19.000 Essentially, your thesis is that the left is trying to construct utopia, or at least they claim they are, and that's a pretty good pitch for power.
00:05:27.000 How do you see that playing out in this year's election?
00:05:28.000 Yeah, I don't.
00:05:30.000 My premise is different than what you just laid out.
00:05:33.000 It's not the left.
00:05:34.000 It's the right and the left.
00:05:35.000 It's the entire progressive movement.
00:05:38.000 Which we know was started by the Republican Theodore Roosevelt.
00:05:43.000 So it's both of them.
00:05:44.000 And you can see this happening right now.
00:05:47.000 The best example is the DNC convention.
00:05:53.000 With the DNC convention, you saw them say one thing.
00:05:58.000 All of the politicians were talking Marxism like nobody's business.
00:06:03.000 And yet the interstitials and all the presentation was warm and fuzzy and let us embrace you.
00:06:09.000 And we're just like you.
00:06:11.000 So they're using, they let Trump use the fear.
00:06:16.000 Then they made their audience fearful of Trump.
00:06:19.000 But then embraced and took all of the trappings of traditional America.
00:06:25.000 They took the Constitution.
00:06:27.000 They took de Tocqueville from us.
00:06:30.000 They took we're better than this kind of language and they wrapped it in hope.
00:06:37.000 And that's how it works.
00:06:39.000 You have the fear.
00:06:40.000 Progressives usually create the problem, which creates fear.
00:06:44.000 Then they give you the hope of, we'll protect you from that.
00:06:48.000 And I really think, I think this is the best example of how progressives work.
00:06:54.000 And I think it was the best convention, best packaged convention I've ever seen in my lifetime.
00:07:01.000 It really was a well-packaged convention, and it's easy to sell that lie because everybody is sort of looking for a savior.
00:07:05.000 It's the ugly truth that no one wants to realize, is that as religion disappears in the country, people are looking for a new religion to fill that space, and what better religion than the government?
00:07:15.000 Yeah, and that is, you know, it's fascinating.
00:07:18.000 Most people don't know the progressivism.
00:07:20.000 They believed in communism and they believed in fascism.
00:07:25.000 The right generally believed in fascism and the left believed in communism, but they didn't want the revolution.
00:07:30.000 So they thought, let's just progress to that utopia.
00:07:34.000 They're still doing that.
00:07:36.000 And somehow or another, a few of us have been convinced that Americans still understand what self-rule even means, what independence means, what pulling yourself up by being somebody who is self-determined.
00:07:56.000 I don't think the average person knows that.
00:07:58.000 I make the case that we're in America 2.0, that the founding fathers
00:08:04.000 Don't really play any part in what we're doing right now.
00:08:09.000 It's the founding fathers of Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Margaret Sanger, FDR, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama.
00:08:17.000 It's very scary stuff.
00:08:18.000 The book is called Liars, and Glenn Beck, of course, is on the show.
00:08:21.000 And Glenn, how did it happen that it was able to take over America so completely so quickly?
00:08:26.000 As you mentioned, it's now both parties.
00:08:27.000 It was amazing to watch Donald Trump say, I alone can fix it, and then watch Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both say,
00:08:33.000 How could you possibly say, I alone can fix it, and then follow up with, they alone can fix it?
00:08:38.000 Basically, everybody's pitch is now, they alone can fix it.
00:08:41.000 They took this German progressive ideology, wrapped it in the flag, and repackaged it, and they're selling it to us.
00:08:46.000 How was it able to be so successful?
00:08:47.000 I mean, we traded away the freest country in the history of the world for this.
00:08:50.000 Why?
00:08:51.000 If you look at it, you know, everybody thinks it's happened so quickly.
00:08:57.000 I contend, Ben, that
00:09:00.000 We were fools in 2008, even 2000, when we thought, oh, well, everybody thinks like we do.
00:09:06.000 We're all Americans.
00:09:07.000 We all want basically the same thing.
00:09:09.000 I think it's been lost for quite some time.
00:09:11.000 It just hasn't had the push to be completely what it is now.
00:09:19.000 We're seeing the fall away.
00:09:20.000 Look at the Republicans that are falling away for Trump.
00:09:23.000 I contend, if you look at his programs, much of them are socialist, and he's a nationalist.
00:09:29.000 That's a frightening combination to put together.
00:09:33.000 I don't think it's happened over a long period of time.
00:09:36.000 I think the progressives were very, very smart at the very beginning and did the Council of Foreign Relations to bring academia and the media together to teach us stupid people what policies we should enact.
00:09:50.000 And the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which was started by Woodrow Wilson, to bring the press into the fold with them yet again.
00:09:59.000 And they've been patient and making progress a little piece at a time.
00:10:04.000 You know, I am a little ashamed of our side if we talk about doing any of the things that the progressives have done that are honorable, you know, that are just saying, hey, let's make a long-term plan and let's start reverse progressivism.
00:10:21.000 You can't get anybody on board.
00:10:24.000 Nobody is interested in having a long-term plan.
00:10:27.000 That's what killed us.
00:10:28.000 They had a long-term plan.
00:10:30.000 We didn't.
00:10:31.000 I totally agree with that.
00:10:32.000 I totally agree with that.
00:10:33.000 I mean, there's a crisis mentality that is adhered to the right where it's every election is the most important election that ever happened in our lifetime, so we have to take the lesser of two evils instead of building an actual grassroots movement.
00:10:43.000 But that sort of
00:10:44.000 requires us to ask the next question, which is, how do you go about building a movement like that in a country that, as you say, for a hundred years has had a public education system that rejects founding values, in a country where the media totally reject founding values and suggest that what makes America great is what government can do for us?
00:10:58.000 I mean, you even see folks on the right, and when people say, what's great about America, the folks on the right will immediately say, we put a man on the moon.
00:11:06.000 That was a government program.
00:11:07.000 What's great about America is the freedom that was created by the founders that allow us to thrive in our private lives.
00:11:14.000 I think what's great about America is Elon Musk will put a man on Mars, but even that will be largely government funded, which is a problem.
00:11:28.000 The way to look at this, I think, is...
00:11:34.000 The way to get around it is first educating yourself on what it is and how it works.
00:11:39.000 And to be able to see, Trump guys, you're doing exactly the same thing.
00:11:44.000 You are in this book.
00:11:46.000 This is what you're doing.
00:11:49.000 So educating yourself.
00:11:51.000 Actually outlining some principles, which we didn't do.
00:11:54.000 The Tea Party didn't have principles.
00:11:56.000 The 9-12 Project had principles.
00:11:59.000 But that turned that kind of into a political thing, too.
00:12:04.000 If it's just politics, it's going to lose.
00:12:07.000 Defining the principles and then taking over the media.
00:12:12.000 That's a hard one, but you're doing it.
00:12:14.000 I mean, I just spent about 20 minutes this morning reading the Daily Wire.
00:12:19.000 We're trying to do it at The Blaze.
00:12:21.000 What you're doing right now, what I'm doing online, same thing.
00:12:26.000 We have to understand that the culture makes all the difference.
00:12:30.000 And I know you're smart enough to know this, but when I watch the DNC,
00:12:36.000 You know, it's pretty easy when you can call up J.J.
00:12:39.000 Abrams and say, hey, make a little two-minute film to make me look good.
00:12:43.000 We don't have those people on our side.
00:12:45.000 You know, we call Scott Baio up.
00:12:48.000 But we suck at storytelling.
00:12:54.000 And that's all they do.
00:12:55.000 They reach for the heart.
00:12:57.000 Think about this.
00:12:58.000 They stood on stage and said, have you even read the Constitution?
00:13:02.000 And then followed it with a speech that is directly from the Communist Manifesto.
00:13:08.000 No, you apparently haven't read it, but they knew that pulling out this and saying, have you read it, would be such a heart moment.
00:13:17.000 That it didn't matter what they said after it.
00:13:20.000 Yep, man.
00:13:21.000 We need to start telling stories and start getting our act together because we have the winning argument if we can also connect to the heart.
00:13:29.000 ...how good at it they are and how bad we are at it.
00:13:31.000 And you're exactly right.
00:13:32.000 I mean, when you talk to conservatives about culture, and you know this better than I do, Glenn, because you've actually tried to move into the moviemaking space.
00:13:37.000 When you talk to conservatives about funding movies, it just...
00:13:41.000 Right over their head, because it's more important that we fund the next Heritage Foundation white paper, and that's great, but it's more important that we toss $10 million into Donald Trump's campaign, and he's going to lose by 10, than it would be to just take those $10 million, invest in a film that's going to be seen by tens of millions of people, because after all, this election is the only thing that matters, and when I watch entertainment, all I really want to watch is Ronald Reagan docu-pics, which of course is false.
00:14:04.000 I will tell you this, that I'm not sure that we can ever do this until we start understanding our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.
00:14:14.000 If you read the book Liars, you will see how well thought out this was, how well orchestrated, that they had all of the real thought leaders and the real artistic leaders and business leaders all with them.
00:14:33.000 And they said, this is our plan now.
00:14:36.000 You do this, you do this, you do this.
00:14:38.000 You bring up movies.
00:14:40.000 You can't talk to anybody with big pockets on the right that will actually say, OK, I'm going to take a risk.
00:14:49.000 It's all about the bottom line.
00:14:52.000 When do I see a return?
00:14:53.000 And movies are too scary.
00:14:56.000 I don't know if we want to do a movie because we're going to lose a lot of money.
00:14:59.000 Do you know how much money the left has lost?
00:15:01.000 You know how much money they're just willing just to put down in case it works?
00:15:06.000 We've got to start taking more risks and realizing your money is worthless if we don't have freedom.
00:15:13.000 Well, the first step toward obviously taking risk is getting to know what's on the other side.
00:15:17.000 In Glenn Beck's book, Liars, how progressives exploit our fears for power and control.
00:15:22.000 Fantastic book.
00:15:22.000 It's out today.
00:15:23.000 We're so flattered that Glenn can stop by and chat with us.
00:15:27.000 And I can't recommend the book highly enough.
00:15:28.000 So it's obviously your local bookstore, amazon.com as well, correct?
00:15:32.000 Watch all the time, Ben.
00:15:33.000 You're doing a phenomenal job.
00:15:35.000 Many times we have conversations of, why can't we be more like Ben Shapiro?
00:15:40.000 My daughter, we were talking as my family.
00:15:57.000 And they said, just last night, Dad, what do you see happening if Hillary is?
00:16:01.000 And I said, Hillary is Eva Peron.
00:16:05.000 And what happens if Trump?
00:16:06.000 And I said, Trump is Mussolini.
00:16:09.000 And they said, what do we do?
00:16:10.000 And I said, I don't know, because both of them end with your father in jail.
00:16:15.000 Exactly.
00:16:16.000 Well, again, it'll be a very entertaining adult fun camp, shall we say, as Hillary might put it.
00:16:21.000 Glenn, thanks so much for stopping by.
00:16:23.000 I really appreciate the time.
00:16:27.000 That is Glenn Beck.
00:16:27.000 His new book is the book Liars, How Progressives Exploit Our Fears for Power and Control.
00:16:31.000 Okay, so we have tons to talk about, obviously, beyond Glenn.
00:16:34.000 We're going to do an epic episode of Good Trump, Bad Trump coming up in just a minute, but you have to go to dailywire.com for that.

00:16:56.000 And we have lots more to talk about today.
00:16:58.000 We didn't even get into all of the fun and games with Donald Trump, which is really, I have to say, nobody said that the end of the Republic was going to be this much fun.
00:17:05.000 So I'm glad that at least we get to laugh hysterically as we walk down into our tomb as a country.
00:17:11.000 So that's very exciting.
00:17:12.000 Dailywire.com for the rest of the show, or iTunes and SoundCloud to download the audio version.
00:17:23.000 Alrighty, so it's time to play Good Trump, Bad Trump.
00:17:27.000 Yeah!
00:17:27.000 Everybody loves some Good Trump, Bad Trump.
00:17:29.000 Okay, so we begin today, as always, with Good Trump.
00:17:33.000 Yes, that's right.
00:17:34.000 Donald Trump said something good today.
00:17:36.000 So what did Donald Trump say that was good today?
00:17:37.000 Well, he's getting ripped up and down in the media for saying something that really is not a big deal at all in any way.
00:17:44.000 What he said was that Hillary was the devil.
00:17:48.000 I'm confused as to why this is controversial.
00:17:50.000 I mean, realistically speaking, Hillary's not the devil, because the devil would never be so obvious as to disguise himself as Hillary Clinton.
00:17:56.000 But, you know, when Donald Trump says she's the devil, obviously it's a figure of speech.
00:18:00.000 Here's Trump saying that in the media, losing his mind.
00:18:03.000 People are angry at him, and they should be.
00:18:05.000 If he would have just not done anything, just go home, go to sleep, relax, he would have been a hero.
00:18:11.000 But he made a deal with the devil.
00:18:12.000 She's the devil.
00:18:14.000 He made a deal with the devil.
00:18:15.000 It's true.
00:18:17.000 Okay, so he says that she made a deal with the devil.
00:18:21.000 He made the deal with the devil.
00:18:22.000 Sanders did.
00:18:23.000 She's the devil.
00:18:23.000 All right, big deal.
00:18:24.000 So the media loses their mind over this.
00:18:25.000 This is good, Trump, because honestly, a whole round of headlines about whether Hillary is the devil or not is not going to be particularly bad for Trump.
00:18:32.000 That's a good round of headlines.
00:18:34.000 Then Trump does something else that's good, right?
00:18:36.000 More good, Trump.
00:18:36.000 Yay!
00:18:37.000 Well done, two in a row.
00:18:38.000 So here's Donald Trump talking about the media.
00:18:40.000 The biggest problem we have is we have a very dishonest media.
00:18:44.000 We have a media that is so dishonest that no matter what makes no difference.
00:18:50.000 But these are among the most dishonest people you'll ever, ever meet.
00:18:57.000 These people, you know, I've had days where I said, boy, this was a great day.
00:19:01.000 I look forward to seeing it tonight or tomorrow.
00:19:03.000 And it's brutal.
00:19:04.000 I say, what happened?
00:19:07.000 But we're going to punch through the media.
00:19:09.000 We have to.
00:19:10.000 Okay, so he's totally right about this, of course.
00:19:13.000 The media is horrible, the media are out to get him, and the media are out to get conservatives generally.
00:19:16.000 That's all true.
00:19:17.000 Okay, so that's good Trump.
00:19:18.000 Yay!
00:19:18.000 Good Trump.
00:19:19.000 Okay, now, unfortunately, we get to bad Trump.
00:19:23.000 So here, again, is my normal disclaimer.
00:19:26.000 You want to vote for Trump, vote for Trump.
00:19:27.000 That's fine.
00:19:28.000 You know, I understand the logic.
00:19:29.000 Trump's better than Hillary.
00:19:30.000 Okay, that's your prerogative, that's your risk assessment.
00:19:34.000 I get it.
00:19:34.000 It's totally fine.
00:19:37.000 How much you embarrass yourself to defend Trump is another question.
00:19:41.000 You can say I'm voting for him even though he's really quite terrible.
00:19:46.000 Here's my rule.
00:19:48.000 It's not picking on Trump to make fun of him.
00:19:50.000 I make fun of everybody, as you've noticed from the show.
00:19:52.000 And I got to admit, the dude is just hilarious.
00:19:55.000 He's just hilarious.
00:19:56.000 So now it's time, unfortunately, unfortunately, for bad Trump.
00:20:00.000 So here it's time for some bad Trump.
00:20:02.000 Let's do some bad Trump.
00:20:03.000 So Trump, there's a big story that comes out from the New York Times this morning.
00:20:07.000 Okay, so this is the last 48 hours for Trump.
00:20:09.000 Let me back up for a second.
00:20:11.000 Last 48 hours for Trump, we played him yesterday attacking a fire marshal.
00:20:14.000 He attacked the fire marshal because he says this corrupt, evil fire marshal didn't let enough people into his building.
00:20:19.000 So he attacks the fire marshal.
00:20:20.000 Then he says he's going to crack down on internet porn the same day that the New York Post runs lesbian nude photos of his wife.
00:20:27.000 Okay, a little weird.
00:20:29.000 Probably gained five points in the straight male community in the United States because Melania is a good looking chick, but
00:20:35.000 Let's be real, it's a weird juxtaposition.
00:20:37.000 I will crack down on internet porn.
00:20:38.000 Also, directly next to this article, if you move your eyes over three centimeters, is a picture of my nude wife with another nude lady.
00:20:45.000 It's a little strange.
00:20:47.000 Okay, so, even that, not that big a deal.
00:20:50.000 Weird, sure, but let's be real about this.
00:20:53.000 The first spouses either way are pretty bad.
00:20:55.000 The first spouse for Hillary Clinton is a guy who's receiving particular favors and using cigars in unique ways in the Oval Office, and the first spouse on the Trump side is a lady who posed in pornography.
00:21:05.000 So, I think that we may be done with the days of the classy first spouse.
00:21:11.000 There's the funny, okay, so there's funny bad Trump and then there's just Trump being terrible bad Trump.
00:21:15.000 So let's start with the funny bad Trump because it's a lot more fun.
00:21:18.000 So yesterday I tweeted out that Trump, because he feels the need to attack everybody, he attacked Ted Cruz again last night for no reason.
00:21:24.000 Because Trump feels the need to attack everybody, it's only a matter of time until he attacks a puppy, right?
00:21:28.000 I said this on the show yesterday, that if the Hillary Clinton campaign trotted out a puppy on stage next to Trump wearing an I'm With Her t-shirt, Donald Trump would punt the puppy into the third row.
00:21:37.000 I said that jokingly.
00:21:39.000 Today, here was Donald Trump at a rally yelling at babies.
00:21:45.000 Yep, it's real.
00:21:49.000 Don't worry about that baby.
00:21:49.000 I love babies.
00:21:51.000 I love babies.
00:21:52.000 I hear that baby crying.
00:21:53.000 I like it.
00:21:55.000 What a baby.
00:21:58.000 What a beautiful baby.
00:22:00.000 Don't worry.
00:22:01.000 Don't worry.
00:22:02.000 The mom's running around like, don't worry about it, you know?
00:22:05.000 It's young and beautiful and healthy, and that's what we want.
00:22:09.000 Okay.
00:22:10.000 But look, look.
00:22:12.000 China, when they devalue, ripped us absolutely to shreds.
00:22:18.000 Actually, I was only kidding.
00:22:19.000 You can get the baby out of here.
00:22:24.000 That's all right.
00:22:25.000 Don't worry.
00:22:25.000 I think she really believed me that I love having a baby crying while I'm speaking.
00:22:33.000 That's okay.
00:22:35.000 People don't understand.
00:22:36.000 That's okay.
00:22:38.000 Was he dropped on his head as a child?
00:22:39.000 I'm just wondering, like, what?
00:22:43.000 A man came up to me and he handed me his purple heart.
00:23:14.000 Now I said to him, I said to him, is that like the real one or is that a copy?
00:23:25.000 And he said, that's my real purple heart.
00:23:27.000 I have such confidence in you.
00:23:29.000 And I said, man, that's like, that's like big stuff.
00:23:34.000 I always wanted to get the purple heart.
00:23:37.000 This was much easier.
00:23:39.000 But I tell you, it was such an honor, and maybe I can bring him up on the stage, Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Dorfman.
00:23:46.000 I just happened.
00:23:53.000 Oh, just like that, he appeared.
00:23:55.000 Okay.
00:24:00.000 I love how every picture of Trump is him with the thumbs up.
00:24:02.000 It's pretty spectacular.
00:24:03.000 Okay, so the reason that's bad, Trump, is because this morning, the New York Times released a story about how Trump dodged the draft like five times.
00:24:11.000 He got five different draft deferments.
00:24:13.000 One, because his ankles hurt.
00:24:15.000 Okay, so when he says things like, I always wanted one of these, this was a lot easier.
00:24:23.000 If you always wanted one.
00:24:25.000 You get the Purple Heart for being wounded in a war.
00:24:28.000 If you wanted one, I don't know why you'd want a Purple Heart.
00:24:30.000 And even soldiers don't want Purple Hearts, right?
00:24:32.000 Nobody wants the Purple Heart, because the Purple Heart is when you get wounded.
00:24:34.000 No one wants to be wounded.
00:24:35.000 But it's just, it's, oh my god, he's just, what words are there?
00:24:40.000 We're beyond the point of parody.
00:24:42.000 Okay, and that wasn't the limit.
00:24:44.000 This was my favorite.
00:24:45.000 This is my favorite.
00:24:46.000 These are all small, okay?
00:24:47.000 So none of these are a big deal.
00:24:48.000 But if we don't laugh, folks, we just have to cry.
00:24:50.000 Because remember, on one side, we have the most corrupt woman ever to run for high office.
00:24:54.000 And then on the other side, we have a guy who legitimately may have escaped
00:25:00.000 Here's Donald Trump.
00:25:02.000 This one's my favorite.
00:25:04.000 This is Donald Trump.
00:25:18.000 This is clip five.
00:25:19.000 This is Donald Trump talking with his good friend Sean Hannity, being coached through being a presidential candidate by Sean Hannity.
00:25:25.000 Yeah, I used to take violin lessons.
00:25:27.000 I was a really, really good violinist.
00:25:28.000 And basically, whenever it's Trump and Hannity on TV, it's essentially Sean Hannity teaching a political lesson to Donald Trump.
00:25:36.000 So he says, Donald, don't you think it would be great if you said this?
00:25:39.000 And then Trump goes, yes, that would be great.
00:25:42.000 So here is Donald Trump attacking the New York Times.
00:25:45.000 And this, I'm sorry, it's small folks.
00:25:47.000 All of this is small, but you must laugh because come on, it's hilarious.
00:25:51.000 Come on.
00:25:52.000 But the New York Times is so unfair.
00:25:54.000 I mean, they write three, four articles about me a day.
00:25:57.000 No matter how good I do on something, they'll never write good.
00:25:59.000 I mean, they don't write good.
00:26:00.000 They have people over there like Maggie Haberman and others.
00:26:04.000 They don't write good.
00:26:04.000 They don't know how to write good.
00:26:06.000 And I guess if they did, they're certainly not doing it.
00:26:08.000 But the New York Times is just absolutely a disaster.
00:26:13.000 They don't write good.
00:26:14.000 Yeah, it's an interesting critique.
00:26:17.000 They don't write good.
00:26:19.000 The word is well.
00:26:21.000 If you want to say they don't write good stuff, then you should say they don't write good stuff.
00:26:27.000 They don't write good.
00:26:28.000 All right, so they're going to go to the Donald Trump Center for Kids Who Want to Learn to Read Good and Do Other Stuff Good Too.
00:26:34.000 Zoolander joke for those of you listening over the age of 40.
00:26:36.000 Okay, so now to the serious bad Trump.
00:26:40.000 So that's all just the goofy bad Trump, right?
00:26:42.000 So it's goofy bad Trump.
00:26:43.000 Basically being adult, because that's what he is.
00:26:46.000 He's your claddish uncle who's got a couple of drinks in him, and he's just gonna say whatever's on his mind, and it is really funny.
00:26:52.000 I mean, it is.
00:26:53.000 I have to admit, it's hysterical.
00:26:56.000 And then there's actual bad Trump.
00:26:58.000 Trump spoke to Kirsten Powers about sexual harassment, and he had said earlier on July 24th on NBC that some of the women who were complaining
00:27:10.000 I don't know.
00:27:28.000 During an interview, when asked what his daughter should do if she were sexually harassed at work, Donald Trump said he would like to think she would find another career or find another company.
00:27:37.000 The question, specifically framed around the allegations against former Fox News Chief Roger Ailes, came in an interview with USA Today.
00:27:45.000 Trump defended Ailes.
00:27:46.000 So he says, in case you missed the robotic reading, what he actually said to Kirsten Powers is he said something to the effect of that women should actually just quit their jobs and then quit their industries.
00:27:56.000 He said, he said, I would like to think she would find another career, this is Ivanka, I would like to think she would find another career or find another company if she were sexually harassed.
00:28:05.000 Here is, here is Eric Trump, his son, making the same case on CBS this morning.
00:28:11.000 There is no question.
00:28:12.000 There is no question that obviously should be addressed and it should be addressed strongly and hey listen we all run a company my father runs a company you know we take this that is a absolute no-go anywhere and and that's very much the case.
00:28:23.000 I think what you're saying is you know Ivanka is a strong you know powerful woman she wouldn't allow herself to be you know objected
00:28:30.000 Okay, so she wouldn't allow herself to be subjected to that.
00:28:32.000 First of all, women don't generally allow themselves to be subjected to sexual harassment.
00:28:49.000 Okay, it's not their fault if they're sexually harassed, if some dude is a pig.
00:28:52.000 That happens on a not-infrequent basis.
00:28:55.000 Beyond that, the line that women should just quit and find another job, okay, there's some truth to it, which is that if you're being sexually harassed, you really don't have a lot of other choices, but to pretend that when Roger Ailes, when a very powerful man sexually harasses a less powerful woman, that's a serious problem, and that's not a problem that can always be cured by going to human resources.
00:29:13.000 Companies don't like it when their executives are sexually harassing people because they have to make major payouts.
00:29:17.000 But if you're talking about a very powerful man, from Bill Clinton to Roger Ailes, if you're sexually harassed and you talk about it, you're done.
00:29:23.000 Your career is over.
00:29:25.000 You're finished.
00:29:26.000 And if you go to HR, as we all know, anybody who's ever been in an office environment where there is human resources, if you go to HR, the first thing that happens is that the bosses start to marginalize you, and they see you as the problem.
00:29:36.000 It doesn't matter if what you're saying is true.
00:29:38.000 HR is one of the more useless aspects of virtually any major company.
00:29:42.000 You go to HR, and suddenly you're the problem.
00:29:44.000 You're the red flag.
00:29:45.000 Because you're the one who complained.
00:29:46.000 You're the one who's raising the issue.
00:29:48.000 And then, if you end up leaving the company, then word is around town that you're litigious and that you complained to HR.
00:29:53.000 So it's a little bit harder than the Trumps are making it out to be.
00:29:56.000 Eric Trump isn't wrong that the solution is to go to HR if you're being sexually harassed, or grab a lawyer, then you have whistleblower protections, or change companies.
00:30:04.000 But to pretend that Ivanka Trump is in the same scenario as any of these other women who are being sexually harassed by one of the most powerful men in media, allegedly, that's really not particularly good stuff.
00:30:14.000 And then it gets worse.
00:30:15.000 Trump is now claiming—remember, what's the date today?
00:30:17.000 August 2nd?
00:30:18.000 It's August 2nd.
00:30:19.000 Donald Trump is claiming on August 2nd that the election is going to be rigged.
00:30:23.000 Here's Donald Trump talking to Sean Hannity about this.
00:30:25.000 I hope the Republicans get out there and watch very closely, because I think we're going to win this election.
00:30:31.000 But if it's rigged, like anything else, look, it was rigged, I thought, a little bit for me, and we won in landslides.
00:30:36.000 I think it was rigged against Bernie Sanders with his superdelegates nonsense.
00:30:40.000 Absolutely.
00:30:40.000 Well, we know it was rigged now.
00:30:42.000 We have the emails.
00:30:44.000 And I'm telling you, November 8th, we better be careful because that election's gonna be rigged.
00:30:48.000 And I hope the Republicans are watching closely or it's gonna be taken away from us.
00:30:52.000 Okay, it's gonna be rigged.
00:30:53.000 The election's gonna be taken away from us.
00:30:54.000 Here's the problem.
00:30:55.000 When Trump said that the primary system was rigged, he was wrong, and I talked about it at the time.
00:30:59.000 It wasn't rigged.
00:31:00.000 It just wasn't a system that he liked.
00:31:02.000 It felt rigged because there were caucus systems where it was unclear how people were actually getting voted into power.
00:31:08.000 There wasn't a straight popular primary vote.
00:31:11.000 When you're talking about the national election in the United States, when you're talking about the election across the country and you say it's going to be rigged, now you're getting into leftist paranoia territory.
00:31:21.000 Now you're getting into 2000 George W. Bush stole the election from Al Gore by purposely perverting the ballots and then having Diebold machines that are related to Halliburton or some such nonsense.
00:31:31.000 And this is the narrative that the Trump campaign is already starting to put out.
00:31:33.000 So Roger Stone, who's legitimately one of the sleaziest people in the history of modern American politics, Roger Stone was speaking to Milo Yiannopoulos over at Breitbart, another sleazy person in the history of American politics, and Roger Stone says,
00:31:50.000 He needs to say, for example, today would be a perfect example.
00:31:52.000 I am leading in Florida.
00:31:53.000 The polls all show it.
00:31:54.000 If I lose Florida, we will know there's voter fraud.
00:31:56.000 If there's voter fraud, this election will be illegitimate.
00:31:59.000 The winner of the election will be illegitimate.
00:32:01.000 We will have a constitutional crisis, widespread civil disobedience, and the government will no longer be the government.
00:32:06.000 He said if you can't have an honest election, nothing else counts.
00:32:09.000 I think he's got to put them on notice that their inauguration will be rhetorical, and when I mean civil disobedience, not violence, but it will be a bloodbath.
00:32:15.000 The government will be shut down if they attempt to steal this and swear Hillary in.
00:32:18.000 No, we will not stand for it.
00:32:19.000 We will not stand for it.
00:32:22.000 So, in other words, Trump's got his confidants out there basically saying that if Trump loses, it must have been stolen from him.
00:32:28.000 And that's not unusual for Trump.
00:32:29.000 This is Trumpian kind of language.
00:32:31.000 Anytime he loses, it's somebody else's fault.
00:32:33.000 But this is getting into dangerous territory now.
00:32:36.000 If the implication is that Trump loses by 8 million votes and that it was still stolen from him, well, if people think that the electoral system seriously doesn't work, then we can't have a republic anymore.
00:32:45.000 We can't.
00:32:46.000 If people think that you going out and voting, you're being cheated, your ballot's being thrown out,
00:32:52.000 Then you're going to have the same sort of unrest that you've seen in other places around the globe where people feel that their voice is not being heard and where the election isn't taking place, right?
00:32:59.000 And then you get violence in the streets.
00:33:00.000 And it's not going to be civil disobedience.
00:33:02.000 It will get violent.
00:33:03.000 If people feel like they're being jobbed and Hillary Clinton is being inserted through a corrupt process, things will get violent.
00:33:09.000 The problem is, of course, that there's no evidence that any of that is happening.
00:33:12.000 I mean, it's August 2nd.
00:33:13.000 We haven't even heard rumors about any of that happening.
00:33:16.000 What's going on is Trump's looking at the polls, and he's seeing the new polls today are not good for him.
00:33:19.000 There's a new poll out today showing him down 8.
00:33:21.000 He's losing in all the major swing states.
00:33:23.000 The only state where he's still ahead is Florida, and Florida, the last poll was taken July 10th, so they haven't had a poll since the conventions.
00:33:29.000 Right now, Trump is running one point behind in Utah.
00:33:32.000 In Utah, the most Republican state in America.
00:33:35.000 He's running 36-35 to Hillary.
00:33:38.000 Hillary's got 36.
00:33:38.000 He's now running even in Georgia, 45-45.
00:33:41.000 These are not good numbers for Trump, so he's beginning to figure, okay, how do I spin this?
00:33:46.000 If I lose, how do I spin this?
00:33:47.000 That's not where you want your candidate at, ladies and gentlemen.
00:33:50.000 On August 2nd, what you want your candidate doing is fighting as hard as he possibly can against Hillary Clinton, not prepping the groundwork for whining if he loses.
00:33:58.000 But I don't think that Trump really knows how to win or cares about winning.
00:34:02.000 I think that for Trump, it's all about the narrative.
00:34:05.000 And if the narrative is that he was cheated, he understands that his people will still continue to claim that he was screwed out of this, even if he really wasn't.
00:34:13.000 Now, meanwhile, this Khan family rollout continues to make headlines.
00:34:19.000 As you recall, this Gold Star family.
00:34:21.000 And we're talking a lot of Trump today because Trump's in the news.
00:34:23.000 And again, not my fault Trump's in the news.
00:34:26.000 We spent all last week talking about Hillary Clinton because Hillary was in the news.
00:34:29.000 If Trump would shut his face for five seconds and not do silly things, then we could talk about Hillary and her terrible evil corruption.
00:34:35.000 Right now, Trump is the story.
00:34:36.000 And we've got to follow the story, as much as that story may make us want to vomit continuously.
00:34:41.000 Khan, the father, Kaiser Khan, he comes out and he says that he's not looking for an apology from Donald Trump after Trump basically said that his wife wasn't talking because his wife is Muslim.
00:34:51.000 Kaiser Khan was on with, and then they say, here's Matthew coming down with a show!
00:34:56.000 Go!
00:34:56.000 If you could write the script of his apology, what would you like him to say?
00:35:01.000 No apology needed in certain
00:35:04.000 The best apology would be that his supporter repudiate him, be away and pronounce their repudiation.
00:35:14.000 We don't need any apology from him.
00:35:16.000 We are beyond those apologies.
00:35:18.000 And we were promised several months ago that he will pivot to in the right direction.
00:35:24.000 He will change and he will not do all that.
00:35:28.000 But do you want to hear anything more from him?
00:35:31.000 No, I don't want to hear anything from him and I don't want to say anything to him.
00:35:37.000 Okay, so obviously this is an effective emotional appeal from the Khan family.
00:35:41.000 There is a problem, of course, which is that the policy they're pushing for is really not a very good policy.
00:35:46.000 And as several outlets have pointed out, Kaiser Khan has spent a lot of his career working on increasing the level of Muslim immigration into the United States.
00:35:53.000 So he really is ticked off at Trump's immigration policy more so than he's ticked off at Trump per se, although Trump is stupid for going after him anyway.
00:36:02.000 Trump made another comment today about Khan, and he responded this way to Kaiser Khan.
00:36:07.000 This is just, again, not smart.
00:36:09.000 I can say this.
00:36:10.000 If I was president, because his son died 12 years ago, if I were president, his son wouldn't have died because I wouldn't have been in the war.
00:36:17.000 If I was president back then, there would have been no war for Iraq, I can tell you that, because I think it's ridiculous, the whole thing.
00:36:23.000 And to be in that war was, as you know, ever since I've known you, I've been against that war.
00:36:29.000 Okay, so he says that if he had been president in 2004, Kaiser Kahn's son would still be alive, which is a pretty cruel thing to say because you obviously can't predict those sorts of things.
00:36:37.000 We were at war in Afghanistan as well.
00:36:39.000 Kaiser Kahn presumably would have served there too.
00:36:42.000 Trump also went on to say, quote, And you know, I'm not going to change my views on that.
00:36:58.000 Okay, poor wording there, because I don't think this is what Trump's saying, but it certainly comes off like he's saying that Khan wants radical Islamic terrorists coming into the country.
00:37:05.000 That's not what Khan obviously wants.
00:37:07.000 It's just, I wish that, I wish that we had a race between Hillary Clinton and someone who's relatively competent.
00:37:13.000 This does bear some pretty negative ramifications for Republicans more broadly.
00:37:18.000 Here's an example.
00:37:18.000 So there's a rally, Mike Pence, the vice presidential candidate under Donald Trump, and one of the members of the audience gets up and asks Mike Pence about the Khan family.
00:37:28.000 I'm less concerned with Mike Pence's response, because Mike Pence's response is good.
00:37:31.000 I mean, what he says here is exactly right.
00:37:33.000 It's the answer Trump should have given all along.
00:37:35.000 I'm more concerned with the rally-goers.
00:37:36.000 Listen to what the rally-goers do when this lady asks a question.
00:37:39.000 Okay, Mr. Pence is, time and time again, Trump has disrespected our nation's armed forces and veterans, and his disrespect for Mr. Khan and his family is just an example.
00:37:59.000 Okay, we can stop it there.
00:38:02.000 So the lady is a gold star.
00:38:04.000 She's not a gold star mother, but she has a son in the military and she asks
00:38:18.000 The question about Trump's disrespect to the military.
00:38:20.000 Now, you can disagree with the premise of her question.
00:38:22.000 You can say that Trump doesn't disrespect the military.
00:38:24.000 And he doesn't disrespect the military the same way that Hillary does.
00:38:27.000 Hillary tried to ban military uniforms from the White House when she was first lady.
00:38:31.000 The president under whom she served has slashed and burned the military all the way down to pre-World War II size in terms of the Navy and the size of the ships of the Navy.
00:38:39.000 And down to an army that can no longer fight two wars simultaneously.
00:38:42.000 And that's real disrespect for the military.
00:38:45.000 Let's not say that Trump doesn't have some pretty ridiculous situations and things that he said about the military, right?
00:38:50.000 He said that John McCain wasn't a war hero because he was captured.
00:38:53.000 He said that he'd forced soldiers to shoot the family members of terrorists in violation of federal law and international law.
00:39:02.000 He said that Iraqi war
00:39:03.000 I don't know.
00:39:19.000 It's a real mistake, and this is what I'm seeing.
00:39:21.000 This is my big problem with the Trump campaign and everything that comes along with it.
00:39:26.000 There's this feeling like everything that Trump does must be defended at all costs, and we have to boo anyone who dares say a naysaying word.
00:39:32.000 And I don't appreciate that, even when I disagree with the person who's saying the naysaying word.
00:39:36.000 Okay, all of that said, there's no question that the media are a bunch of hypocrites.
00:39:40.000 Pat Smith, who's the mother of
00:39:42.000 I do complain mightily about, well, you're not saying it, but I'm very much against the way I was treated.
00:39:45.000 I was treated like dirt.
00:39:46.000 I don't think that the Khan family was treated that way.
00:40:09.000 But I was treated like dirt.
00:40:10.000 I was called a liar.
00:40:13.000 She went on TV many times and nodding her head thinking that she is so wonderful and she knows everything and I know nothing and I was just imagining this.
00:40:24.000 I don't imagine my son getting killed.
00:40:26.000 I don't imagine that at all.
00:40:30.000 But why would she say that to me?
00:40:31.000 And what did she say to the cons?
00:40:34.000 I don't know.
00:40:34.000 I was told so much bull crap.
00:40:38.000 About Benghazi.
00:40:41.000 And most of it, most of the things that I heard were lies, absolute, outright lies.
00:40:47.000 And the government never got back to me like they promised.
00:40:51.000 Hillary promised she would get back to me and tell me what happened.
00:40:55.000 I don't know why my son is dead.
00:40:57.000 I want answers and I want answers about why my son is dead and why she made the decisions that she made.
00:41:05.000 I don't like her decisions.
00:41:07.000 I don't think she'll make a very good, any kind of good president.
00:41:12.000 I don't like her decisions.
00:41:14.000 She kills people.
00:41:16.000 Okay, and so she says that and the media are all over her.
00:41:20.000 She's the worst person, she's terrible, she's awful.
00:41:24.000 It's really foolish for the media to play this double game because it means that everybody knows what liars they are.
00:41:29.000 Another liar, Joe Scarborough on MSNBC, now he's going nuts and he says that Donald Trump is totally unhinged, he's totally crazy.
00:41:37.000 I've known him for a decade.
00:41:38.000 I've never seen him act like this before.
00:41:41.000 It's unhinged.
00:41:42.000 It's not the Donald Trump that I've known for over a decade.
00:41:45.000 This is, I never have seen anything remotely resembling this type of behavior from a guy who I've known and liked and called a friend.
00:41:55.000 The other thing, I was hearing that a lot yesterday.
00:41:56.000 The other thing I'm wondering if you heard also from people was people were asking me, why can't anyone around him get him to stop?
00:42:03.000 I think it's gotten a lot worse even over the past month.
00:42:07.000 I'm telling you, we're in uncharted territory now.
00:42:10.000 I mean, there was, again, there was a time when people could talk to him and say, this is damaging you, this is hurting you, and this is insanity.
00:42:19.000 Some of this is just so emotional, though.
00:42:22.000 It's not like, it doesn't feel like it's like a strategy.
00:42:25.000 It feels like it's just emotional.
00:42:26.000 It's not a strategy.
00:42:27.000 It's just pure emotion.
00:42:29.000 It's well beyond strategy at this point.
00:42:32.000 Okay, Joe Scarborough with your, there's something about Mary Hare.
00:42:35.000 Let me explain something to you.
00:42:37.000 You said this like three months ago.
00:42:39.000 It's always against Trump.
00:42:41.000 I mean, but will they say this time it's all over?
00:42:43.000 I'm just saying, seriously, the jackasses that have been doing this for nine months should just stop embarrassing themselves.
00:42:50.000 It's getting really old.
00:42:51.000 What's insulting to me is you can't state politically obvious things, right?
00:42:58.000 Without people saying, oh, you're the tank for Trump, or oh, you're supporting Trump, or oh, no, no, no.
00:43:03.000 We just can actually look at the earth and see that the sun goes down and that it's actually not flat.
00:43:10.000 But there have been a lot of flat earthers out there for nine months right now.
00:43:13.000 Okay, so there he was defending Trump like three months ago.
00:43:16.000 So the media played this double game.
00:43:18.000 Notice that they're dumping all of their crap on Trump now, right?
00:43:20.000 They waited until he was the nominee, and then they dumped everything on him, which is perfectly predictable.
00:43:24.000 We were predicting it several months ago.
00:43:27.000 I'll tell you what they're completely ignoring, however, and that is Hillary continuing to lie.
00:43:31.000 So Hillary over the weekend lied about her emails, and then Hillary's spokesperson was on TV last night lying about her lying about her emails.
00:43:38.000 What she attempted to indicate in her response was that Director Comey was very clear when he was asked in the hearing before Congress last month about the nature of the answers that she gave in her interview to the Justice Department.
00:43:51.000 And Director Comey in response was quite clear that he had no reason to believe that anything she ever said to the Justice Department was at all untruthful.
00:43:59.000 And what she was indicating in that interview to Chris Wallace was that what she said to those Justice Department interviewers was entirely consistent with what she has said to the public for the last several months in the many questions that we've answered on this issue.
00:44:12.000 They're liars, they're liars, they're liars.
00:44:13.000 The media won't cover that.
00:44:14.000 The media will cover all of Donald Trump's various foibles.
00:44:17.000 Granted, those foibles are more fun than covering Hillary Clinton, but it doesn't change the fact that Hillary Clinton is just as terrible as Trump in every way, and in most ways she's worse.
00:44:25.000 Okay, time for things I like, things I hate, and then the corrections, which is a new addition to the program.
00:44:30.000 And it's a very dangerous game to play when you say that you're going to add corrections to the program, because then everyone who has a correction from 45 episodes ago emails you.
00:44:37.000 This is what I've found.
00:44:38.000 So, we can begin with things I like.
00:44:39.000 We're doing post-apocalyptic literature to prepare you for the end of the world.
00:44:42.000 Alas, Babylon is today's post-apocalyptic literature.
00:44:46.000 Pat Frank, this book is kind of a classic of the genre.
00:44:50.000 Nuclear War hits.
00:44:52.000 How do people survive afterward?
00:44:54.000 It's been made into a movie, I think.
00:44:56.000 I don't think the movie's particularly good, but the book is very good.
00:44:59.000 I read it several years ago, and I just remember enjoying it as much as you can enjoy a book about the end of the world.
00:45:04.000 So, Alas Babylon, Pat Frank.
00:45:05.000 Check it out at Amazon.com.
00:45:07.000 Okay, time for some things that I hate.
00:45:09.000 So,
00:45:10.000 Apple has decided that it's time to save the world.
00:45:12.000 How are they going to save the world?
00:45:14.000 Not by giving tons of money to charity.
00:45:16.000 Not by hiring more people.
00:45:17.000 No, they're going to save the world by getting rid of the gun emoji and instead replacing it with a water pistol emoji.
00:45:22.000 Here's what the new emoji will look like.
00:45:25.000 So they had the pistol emoji, which is kind of cool, and now they've replaced that with the water gun emoji, which is just dorky.
00:45:31.000 Okay, how are you supposed to express that you want to commit suicide over this election on Twitter if you have to use a water gun emoji?
00:45:38.000 If you water gun your own head, presumably you just get wet.
00:45:42.000 So this whole thing is stupid.
00:45:44.000 How many lives will this save?
00:45:45.000 None.
00:45:45.000 Well, what will this change?
00:45:46.000 Absolutely nothing.
00:45:47.000 But it makes all the lefties over at Apple feel really good about themselves, because from now on, they won't have to look at those evil, terrible pictures of cartoon guns and feel as though they're making the world a worse place.
00:45:57.000 Now they can look at happy green, happy green water guns and feel like they're making the world a better place.
00:46:02.000 Okay, other things that I hate today, the media are losing their mind over Corin Gates.
00:46:07.000 Okay, Corin Gates is this black woman who was shot by the cops, and they're making a big deal out of her being shot.
00:46:14.000 So, ThinkProgress's headline, and you can see her, she's a good-looking gal, she's got braces on it looks like here, and her kid's in the background, she's a little kid, and she's got a couple tattoos, and it says, police fatally shoot woman holding five-year-old boy in her lap.
00:46:28.000 So if you read that headline, you would assume that police fatally shot a woman holding a five-year-old boy in her lap.
00:46:32.000 Would you not?
00:46:32.000 Because that's the headline.
00:46:34.000 Here's what actually happened.
00:46:36.000 Okay, so they went to her house to issue an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court after a traffic violation in March.
00:46:43.000 No one responded to ten minutes of door knocking, even though they could hear several people inside.
00:46:48.000 Officers went to the landlord, they obtained a key to the apartment, and they found her sitting on the floor.
00:46:52.000 Her five-year-old son was wrapped in one of her arms.
00:46:54.000 What was in her other arm?
00:46:57.000 A shotgun!
00:46:58.000 That's right, she was carrying a shotgun in her other hand, waiting for the cops to enter.
00:47:02.000 Around 3 p.m.
00:47:02.000 after several hours of negotiation, police say Gaines raised the gun at officers and told them she would kill them if they did not leave, at which point the officers shot her.
00:47:12.000 So they fired one round at her.
00:47:13.000 She fired several rounds back at us.
00:47:15.000 We fired again at her, striking and killing her.
00:47:17.000 Tragically, in this circumstance, the child that was also in the dwelling was struck by a round.
00:47:21.000 The man being sought fled the home.
00:47:23.000 There's a man there also who's being sought.
00:47:24.000 He fled the home with a one-year-old child.
00:47:26.000 He was later taken into custody.
00:47:28.000 So we're still seeing if there's any body footage of the incident.
00:47:31.000 The son had non-life-threatening injuries.
00:47:34.000 Of course, everybody is going nuts, right?
00:47:36.000 Oh my god.
00:47:37.000 Remember, Corin Gates, say her name.
00:47:40.000 I have an idea.
00:47:41.000 Don't try to fire a shotgun at the cops, you human piece of crap, and don't do it while you're holding your baby in your other arm, you double human piece of crap.
00:47:48.000 I have a two-and-a-half-year-old kid and I have a little baby.
00:47:51.000 If I plan on getting into a firefight with police, which I don't, if I do, I guarantee you I'm not going to be holding my child in one hand and the gun in the other.
00:47:59.000 This is a terror tactic.
00:48:00.000 It's something Hamas and Hezbollah do when they're firing at Israeli soldiers.
00:48:04.000 This is something that ISIS does when they're trying to fight American troops.
00:48:07.000 It's been a long-standing, horrible tactic, using your kid as a human shield while you fire your shotgun at cops.
00:48:13.000 Not only did this woman deserve to be shot, she deserved the electric chair if she had survived.
00:48:17.000 I mean, that's bad stuff.
00:48:18.000 Trying to murder cops and put your kid in your lap while you're doing it because you're a piece of crap?
00:48:23.000 That's terrible.
00:48:24.000 Now, if the footage comes out, that's the best available information we have.
00:48:27.000 If the footage comes out and it's a totally different story, I'll retract everything I just said, but that's the information that's being given out, and it doesn't matter.
00:48:33.000 The entire left is still declaring that she was just some innocent woman who was shot by the cops while holding her kid in her lap.
00:48:39.000 Wesley Lowry of the Washington Post says this was a summary execution.
00:48:43.000 No.
00:48:44.000 See, summary executions don't involve you holding a child on your lap and a gun in your other hand while you're warning the cops you're gonna blow them away and then shooting at the cops.
00:48:52.000 Turns out that that really has nothing to do with summary execution.
00:48:55.000 It has to do with you being a piece of garbage.
00:48:57.000 Okay, time for corrections.
00:48:58.000 So, a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned Michael Jordan's father's killers, and I said there was two black guys.
00:49:03.000 There wasn't.
00:49:04.000 It was one black guy, one white guy, so there's a quick correction there.
00:49:06.000 Also, yesterday, I gave a specific physical description of Phineas Gage, a man who's very famous in the psychological community because he took a pole through the head, and it totally changed his personality, which led people to really think that maybe the brain has something to do with your personality.
00:49:21.000 Apparently he did not get the poll.
00:49:22.000 I said that he got the poll in his eye and it came out the back of his head.
00:49:24.000 It did not.
00:49:25.000 In fact, it went out, it came in below his eye and came out the side of his head.
00:49:28.000 So thank you for the correction, folks.
00:49:30.000 I'm glad that we have a literate audience and they know how to even spell Phineas Gage.
00:49:34.000 That's a good thing.
00:49:35.000 All right, so we'll be back tomorrow.
00:49:37.000 Hopefully, hopefully Donald Trump will start to pull things together so that we don't have to do so much bad Trump every day.
00:49:43.000 Hopefully, I mean, I'll admit that I find it amusing when he says silly things, but at some point, at some point,
00:49:49.000 Would it be okay if he just had a normal day where he just attacked Hillary Clinton so we can talk about that?
00:49:55.000 Please, Donald, please.
00:49:56.000 Just control yourself for five seconds.
00:49:59.000 Please?
00:49:59.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:50:02.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
