00:00:00.000 While appearing on a show that lowers the collective IQ of the nation by at least one standard deviation, The View, Allie Wentworth, who is the wife of ABC News objective news anchor George Stephanopoulos, explained what election night was like at the Stephanopoulos-Wentworth home.
00:00:13.000 Here's what it looked like.
00:00:14.000 And I have an 11-year-old daughter who doesn't really understand what ISIS is, but she knows that she's scared, and she's now sleeping in bed with us every night.
00:00:23.000 So what do you do, Allie?
00:00:24.000 What do you do?
00:00:25.000 You got little girls.
00:00:27.000 You see what's happening.
00:00:29.000 What can you say to other parents who are at their wit's end with their children, who are scared, and they're also scared as adults?
00:00:35.000 This is what I say.
00:00:36.000 I say two things.
00:00:38.000 I say to my kids, one is...
00:00:40.000 We help out everybody in this country that is really going to need our help.
00:00:45.000 Whatever in organization, you know, we give, we volunteer, we help out.
00:00:50.000 It involves my 14-year-old getting upset about the election and screaming, no abortions, really loudly.
00:00:55.000 I have a 14-year-old upset as well.
00:00:56.000 And I was like, you haven't kissed a boy yet.
00:00:57.000 Don't use that word so flippantly.
00:01:00.000 Okay, let's just point something out.
00:01:02.000 If you're wondering why the left have gone completely insane, perhaps it's because they were raised to be insane and now they're raising their kids the exact same way.
00:01:08.000 Why in the world would a 14-year-old girl think that her world is ending because Donald Trump has been elected president?
00:01:14.000 More importantly, why would she think her world is ending because of possible restrictions on abortion?
00:01:19.000 She's 14!
00:01:20.000 Are leftist parents truly raising their daughters to believe that their right to freedom is dependent on their ability to kill their own offspring in the womb?
00:01:27.000 I'll raise my kids to believe that certain rights are sacred.
00:01:29.000 The right to religious practice, the right to freedom of speech, the right to defend ourselves.
00:01:32.000 The notion of teaching a little girl that abortion is the chief right women should expect from their government, or that their life is somehow inevitably impacted by laws cracking down on abortion, that's patently crazy.
00:01:43.000 The fact that some leftists apparently teach their kids that liberty can be boiled down not to individual choice and responsibility for that choice, but to the ability to pay a clinic, to kill a baby in the womb and then take it out, that's pretty disgusting.
00:01:56.000 As the parent of a daughter, here's what I plan to tell her about abortion.
00:01:59.000 I plan to say, sweetheart, when you get married, and when you have sex and get pregnant, that will be the greatest joy you can experience.
00:02:04.000 I know that because it was the greatest joy that your mom and I ever experienced.
00:02:07.000 Your birth was the highlight of our lives.
00:02:09.000 Your existence is a timeless reminder that God loves us, and he loves you, and that he favors us with miracles every day, none greater than your creation.
00:02:17.000 You're beloved of God, and your children will be too.
00:02:19.000 Children are the greatest gift we can receive.
00:02:21.000 To spurn that gift,
00:02:22.000 To destroy another human life is a great evil, no matter any countervailing concerns.
00:02:27.000 We're religious, but even if we weren't, that lecture wouldn't change all that much.
00:02:32.000 Children are the greatest thing in life, and they are lives, regardless of whether you're religious or secular.
00:02:37.000 And suggesting that true freedom lies in the ability to kill children in the womb, it's just disgusting.
00:02:42.000 I mean, it's gross, come on.
00:02:43.000 Propagandizing 14-year-olds with that suggestion, that's even more gross.
00:02:46.000 But if you tell your kids,
00:02:48.000 That evil Republicans are coming in the night to raid your womb.
00:02:51.000 It's no wonder they get hysterical when Democrats lose elections.
00:02:54.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:02:55.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:03:01.000 Alrighty, so much to get to today.
00:03:02.000 So much leftist craziness out there.
00:03:04.000 I mean, we've been focusing a lot on sort of the soul-sucking that's been happening in certain parts of the Republican Party.
00:03:09.000 But there's so much that's crazy that's happening on the left, and we're going to get to that in just a second.
00:03:13.000 But first, we have to say hello to our sponsors at Helix Sleep.
00:03:16.000 So if you go to helixsleep.com slash Ben, this is the place to go to get the most comfortable mattress in the world.
00:03:21.000 We have one of these Helix Sleep mattresses, and they are just fantastic.
00:03:25.000 The way that it works, you go to helixsleep.com,
00:03:27.000 And they ask you for your height and weight and your body type and what kind of mattress you like sleeping on.
00:03:32.000 Do you like it to absorb heat?
00:03:33.000 Do you like it to be cool?
00:03:35.000 Do you like it to be more firm or more soft?
00:03:38.000 And they can even make mattresses that are different for the different sides of the bed.
00:03:41.000 So if you or your partner have different sleep behaviors then you can change the mattress that way.
00:03:46.000 They then send it to your house in a giant box and you unwrap the box and it inflates.
00:03:52.000 I don't know.
00:04:13.000 If you don't love it, no questions asked for 100% refund.
00:04:15.000 So, it's a great service.
00:04:17.000 HelixSleep.com slash Ben.
00:04:19.000 You get $50 off your order.
00:04:20.000 HelixSleep.com slash Ben.
00:04:21.000 And their prices are extraordinarily competitive.
00:04:24.000 Very, very reasonable.
00:04:25.000 The quality of the mattress is really good.
00:04:27.000 I know because I sleep on one every single night.
00:04:43.000 We're good to go!
00:05:12.000 This is making a nation of crazy people.
00:05:15.000 And it really is dividing us along lines that don't need division.
00:05:20.000 There was a question somebody put out on Twitter, must have been a few weeks ago, where they said, what's the thing where in a hundred years people are going to look back on American politics and say, I can't believe that was even a debate?
00:05:29.000 This is the one.
00:05:30.000 This is the one.
00:05:31.000 Because as science gets better, as we see into the womb better, as it is clear to people what exactly is going on inside the womb, what happens in pregnancy, as more people become aware of it,
00:05:40.000 People are going to see this for the evil that it is.
00:05:42.000 Again, the idea of a 14-year-old running around screaming because she won't be able to get an abortion under Trump, number one, it's not true.
00:05:48.000 Number two, even if it were true, how about mommy says to her, sweetheart, you're never going to want an abortion and abortion is bad and actually what you should be focused on is making good decisions in your life and not your ability to kill a baby.
00:06:03.000 The idea that your lifestyle is compromised because you have a baby
00:06:07.000 It's just, it's stomach-churning.
00:06:08.000 I mean, the basic notion the left promotes with regard to abortion, that your lifestyle must be preserved at the cost of another human life, is really, really stomach-churning.
00:06:15.000 That's not the only stomach-churning thing, though.
00:06:17.000 The left proclaims itself a big fan of human rights, and the big news story of the day is what's happening in Aleppo in Syria.
00:06:23.000 So Aleppo, as Gary Johnson well knows now, is a city in Syria.
00:06:28.000 What is Aleppo?
00:06:28.000 That's what it is.
00:06:29.000 And Aleppo has been the site of a raging battle that's been taking place over the course of several months.
00:06:34.000 That's good.
00:06:51.000 Had committed suicide in order to avoid being raped by Assad's forces.
00:06:55.000 Apparently there are a hundred schoolchildren who were killed when they were suffocated under a building that was blown up by Assad's forces.
00:07:02.000 The UN is saying that there are scores and scores of people who are civilians who are being killed in Aleppo.
00:07:07.000 And the Obama administration is just devastated about this.
00:07:11.000 And so they sent out Samantha Power, who's the UN ambassador, and who by the way wrote a book about American inaction during genocide.
00:07:17.000 I mean, that's her claim to fame.
00:07:18.000 Her actual book is about this.
00:07:21.000 Which is an incredible thing, right?
00:07:22.000 I mean, the fact is that she was appointed specifically because of her unwillingness to stand by blindly, supposedly, when genocide was occurring.
00:07:30.000 The book was called A Problem from Hell.
00:07:31.000 It was a big bestseller back in, like, 2002.
00:07:34.000 And it explicitly talked about American inaction.
00:07:37.000 It goes through all of the various genocides that have happened around the planet during the last hundred years and gets very upset with the United States for not stepping in.
00:07:45.000 The New York Times Book Review talked about her book at the time.
00:07:49.000 And it said, Washington is a place of defeatism, inertia, selfishness, and cowardice.
00:07:54.000 Warnings pass up the chain and disappear.
00:07:56.000 Intelligence is gathered and then ignored or denied.
00:07:58.000 The will of the executive remains steadfastly opposed to intervention.
00:08:01.000 Its guiding assumption is that the cost of stopping genocide is great, while the political cost of ignoring it is next to nil.
00:08:07.000 And basically, she makes the case that we ought to be more interested in genocide around the world.
00:08:13.000 Well, the Obama administration obviously didn't care about the genocide that was happening in Syria, and it is a genocide.
00:08:18.000 I mean, you're talking hundreds of thousands of people dead.
00:08:20.000 The latest estimate is 470,000 people dead in Syria.
00:08:24.000 Several million have been exiled from Syria.
00:08:26.000 The entire refugee crisis in Europe is largely due to what's happening in Syria.
00:08:30.000 Obama, as you recall, he said that he drew a red line.
00:08:33.000 If Assad had used chemical weapons against his own people, then Assad did use chemical weapons against his own people.
00:08:38.000 And Obama said that he was going to take military action.
00:08:41.000 There was blowback to that.
00:08:42.000 Then he said he was going to do what John Kerry called a pinprick strike.
00:08:46.000 We're just going, it won't be heavy.
00:08:47.000 It'll be tiny.
00:08:48.000 It'll be like a needle.
00:08:49.000 And then Putin comes along and says, you know what?
00:08:52.000 I'll cut a deal on behalf of Bashar Assad.
00:08:54.000 We're good
00:09:10.000 Right now in Aleppo you have the rebels and on one side you have the Iranian militias who are going in there to slaughter everybody.
00:09:14.000 On the other side you have Assad's people who are going in there to slaughter everybody.
00:09:18.000 And the Obama administration claiming all the way through that this is totally wild.
00:09:21.000 How could this have possibly happened?
00:09:23.000 Here is Samantha Powers, the lady who wrote this book literally about American non-intervention during genocides.
00:09:29.000 And she's being feeded by the media.
00:09:31.000 The media thinks she is just wonderful for doing this.
00:09:34.000 I mean, talk about virtue signaling.
00:09:35.000 Here she is.
00:09:37.000 Russia, Iran, and their affiliated militia are the ones responsible for what the UN called a complete meltdown of humanity.
00:09:47.000 And they are showing no mercy.
00:09:50.000 No mercy, despite their territorial conquest.
00:09:52.000 Even now, no mercy.
00:09:54.000 In the last 24 hours alone, pro-Assad forces reportedly killed at least 82 civilians, including 11 women and 13 children.
00:10:02.000 And it is up to each and every one of us here to defend those rules.
00:10:07.000 To the Assad regime, Russia, and Iran, three member states behind the conquest of and carnage in Aleppo, you bear responsibility for these atrocities.
00:10:20.000 By rejecting UN-ICRC evacuation efforts, you are signaling to those militia who are massacring innocents to keep doing what they are doing.
00:10:34.000 Denying or obfuscating the facts
00:10:37.000 As you will do today, saying up is down, black is white, will not absolve you.
00:10:43.000 To the Assad regime, Russia and Iran, your forces and proxies are carrying out these crimes.
00:10:49.000 Your barrel bombs and mortars and airstrikes have allowed the militia in Aleppo to encircle tens of thousands of civilians in your ever-tightening noose.
00:11:02.000 Okay, and so she is obviously condemning Russia, Iran, and Syria.
00:11:05.000 Only one problem.
00:11:06.000 She sided with Russia, Iran, and Syria.
00:11:07.000 Her administration sided with all three of those.
00:11:09.000 They left Assad in power.
00:11:12.000 You remember, Hillary Clinton called Assad a reformer.
00:11:15.000 The media used to treat Assad with kid gloves.
00:11:17.000 They used to pretend that he was a good guy in the region.
00:11:20.000 Iran has been empowered massively by the same administration.
00:11:23.000 They cut a nuclear deal with Iran, giving them the capacity to broaden their economy, give them $150 billion, open their economy to the world.
00:11:31.000 We're good to go.
00:11:54.000 And I want to point something else out here, too, and that is that there's this weird idea that has prevailed inside the Obama administration that you can shame bad people into doing good things.
00:12:03.000 If you just shame them, then they'll do the right thing.
00:12:05.000 You remember Michelle Obama with her Bring Back Our Girls hashtag.
00:12:09.000 After Boko Haram, a terrorist group in Nigeria, kidnapped a bunch of schoolgirls, she held up that hashtag.
00:12:14.000 Like Boko Haram cares what you hashtag.
00:12:16.000 You remember that after Putin invaded Ukraine, Jen Psaki of the State Department, she tweeted, Hashtag United for Ukraine.
00:12:23.000 Did that get Putin out of Ukraine?
00:12:25.000 Of course not.
00:12:25.000 It didn't do anything.
00:12:27.000 But this all extends back to the same mentality as Gandhi.
00:12:30.000 So Gandhi was a big fan of nonviolent resistance.
00:12:33.000 Back in 1938, he said this about the Jews.
00:12:35.000 He said, if I were a Jew born in Germany, this is during the Nazi period, if I were a Jew born in Germany and earned my livelihood there, I would claim Germany as my home, even as the tallest gentile German might.
00:12:44.000 And challenge him to shoot me or cast me in the dungeon.
00:12:47.000 The Jews of Germany can offer satyagraha, that's the passive resistance, under infinitely better auspices than the Indians of South Africa.
00:12:54.000 Of course, that was inherently untrue, because the British were not vile Nazis, and the Nazis were.
00:13:00.000 In 1946, after he found out about the Holocaust, he continued to maintain this.
00:13:03.000 He said, Hitler killed 5 million Jews.
00:13:06.000 It is the greatest crime of our time, but the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher's knife.
00:13:10.000 It would have aroused the world and the people of Germany.
00:13:13.000 They sort of didn't have a choice, and they were slaughtered by the millions.
00:13:17.000 The idea that the world would have been aroused by knowledge of the Holocaust is nonsense.
00:13:20.000 Everybody knew about the Holocaust while it was happening.
00:13:22.000 The contemporaneous documents show that was the case, and the United States wouldn't even bomb the rail lines.
00:13:27.000 So the idea that you can offer passive resistance to evil, and that that somehow suffices, that's ridiculous, but that's been the Obama administration policy all the way through.
00:13:36.000 And yes, Putin is an evil man.
00:13:38.000 Putin is a deeply evil human being who has not only expanded Russian borders at the expense of free peoples, he's also murdered dissidents, imprisoned dissidents, imprisoned people who are oligarchic, who he doesn't like, and then handed their money to other oligarchs that he does like, personally enriched himself to the tune of $40 billion, supposedly.
00:13:58.000 We're good to go.
00:14:21.000 And it talks about net favorability of Vladimir Putin among Republicans.
00:14:24.000 So the net favorability of Vladimir Putin among Republicans, in 2016, in 2014, July 2014, Republican net favorability for Putin, meaning the number of people who like him minus the number of people who hate him, was negative 66%.
00:14:37.000 So it's probably like 10% liked him, 76% thought that Putin was evil.
00:14:43.000 Today, today, December 2016, that is a negative 10%.
00:14:48.000 So that means that 35% probably like him and 45% think that he's bad.
00:14:52.000 Okay, that's not good, folks.
00:14:54.000 That's not good.
00:14:54.000 If you're one of these people who's gotten warm to Putin because you think that Putin was mean to Hillary and the enemy of my enemy is my friend, understand.
00:15:01.000 He's not your friend.
00:15:01.000 Vladimir Putin has now played two straight administrations.
00:15:04.000 He played Bush.
00:15:05.000 Remember Bush saying that he looked into Putin's soul?
00:15:07.000 I looked into his soul.
00:15:08.000 And he saw something good there.
00:15:10.000 And it turns out that, you know, McCain was actually right about this.
00:15:13.000 He looked into Putin's soul and saw KGB.
00:15:15.000 And then Obama came in and said, you know the thing about that Bush?
00:15:17.000 He was too hard on Putin.
00:15:18.000 Give him a reset button.
00:15:19.000 Give him more power.
00:15:21.000 Everything will be hunky-dory.
00:15:22.000 And Putin proceeded to screw the United States once again and expand his power at our expense.
00:15:28.000 And now Trump is doing the exact same thing.
00:15:30.000 And you've got Republicans going right along for it.
00:15:33.000 You've got Republicans going right along with it.
00:15:35.000 And that's dangerous stuff.
00:15:37.000 That's dangerous stuff.
00:15:37.000 Putin is not a good man.
00:15:38.000 Putin is not your ally.
00:15:40.000 Putin is not the guy you can rely on to be a bulwark against the bad guys.
00:15:43.000 He is one of the bad guys.
00:15:45.000 If you want to say that there are alliances of convenience that you might be able to draw with Putin from time to time, that's one thing.
00:15:50.000 But if you want to say that Putin is an actual ally in the war on terror, or you want to say that Vladimir Putin is the guy you're going to delegate foreign policy to, look, Putin knows what he's doing here, and he knows which buttons to push, and I think that it's only a matter of time before Putin makes a very aggressive move in Central Asia, you know, talking about Kazakhstan, or he makes a strong move against Latvia, or Estonia, or Lithuania, and then he dares Trump to stop him, and the chances are Trump won't do anything.
00:16:14.000 The chances are very strong that Trump won't do anything.
00:16:16.000 The proof is in the pudding.
00:16:17.000 Trump's selection of Rex Tillerson as CEO of Exxon.
00:16:20.000 Tillerson, as I said yesterday, this isn't about Tillerson, it's about Trump.
00:16:23.000 The only thing Trump cares about from Tillerson is presumably what Tillerson thinks of Putin, and Tillerson and Putin get along.
00:16:30.000 Trump said this yesterday in Wisconsin.
00:16:31.000 Here's what he said.
00:16:32.000 You know, Rex is friendly with many of the leaders.
00:16:36.000 In the world that we don't get along with and some people don't like that.
00:16:39.000 They don't want them to be friendly.
00:16:41.000 That's why I'm doing the deal with Rex because I like what this is all about.
00:16:46.000 And we're going to have somebody that's going to be very special.
00:16:50.000 Okay, so he likes the fact that Tillerson has relationships with some of the worst people on earth.
00:16:55.000 This is Obama-esque language.
00:16:56.000 Isn't it better that we should talk to Cuba?
00:16:57.000 Isn't it better that we should hang out with the bad guys?
00:16:59.000 That we shouldn't be talking with the bad guys?
00:17:01.000 Wouldn't it be better if we were talking to Iran rather than not talking to Iran?
00:17:05.000 This is not a positive development.
00:17:07.000 It's not.
00:17:08.000 And for all the people who are complaining about what's happening in Syria,
00:17:12.000 Trump has no intention of doing anything in Syria to help people.
00:17:15.000 Now, maybe you think that's good.
00:17:16.000 Maybe you do.
00:17:17.000 But the truth is that there are certain basic truths about foreign policy that very few people want to acknowledge.
00:17:23.000 The most fundamental truth is that when it comes to a choice between genocide and American intervention, most people will choose genocide.
00:17:29.000 And that's been true historically for the United States.
00:17:31.000 You'd rather watch from abroad as a genocide happens somewhere than we would get involved.
00:17:36.000 And that's a question that we ought to be asking ourselves is what extent is the involvement necessary?
00:17:41.000 Should that involvement include airstrikes or should it also include boots on the ground?
00:17:45.000 How much do we care about this?
00:17:46.000 And if we're not honest with ourselves about this question, more people are going to die while we dither around.
00:17:50.000 But clearly Trump doesn't care particularly much.
00:17:52.000 Here's Donald Trump spokesperson Jason Miller.
00:17:54.000 He asked about Vladimir Putin's involvement in Syria.
00:17:58.000 Do we have that?
00:17:59.000 No, we don't have that.
00:18:00.000 Okay, what he said earlier, he said that hundreds of thousands of people in Syria being killed, we were viewing that through the wrong lens.
00:18:07.000 That's what he said on Fox News a little bit earlier today.
00:18:10.000 We should view that through a different lens.
00:18:13.000 Again, no, we shouldn't.
00:18:15.000 Something is really bad happening and you can say that we don't have the wherewithal or we don't have the resources or we don't have the will to stop it, but to pretend that Obama's
00:18:25.000 Awful, awful, awful about Syria and then pursue exactly the same policy and actually warm to Trump is more than a little bit hypocritical.
00:18:33.000 The same thing is happening, by the way, about Russian hacking, of course.
00:18:36.000 The real reason that Republicans shifted on Putin is not because they thought that Putin was fighting ISIS.
00:18:41.000 The real reason the Republicans shifted on ISIS is the same reason they shifted on Wikileaks.
00:18:45.000 When Wikileaks was targeting the American military, we hated Wikileaks.
00:18:48.000 Then it started targeting Hillary, and a lot of Republicans said, hey, Wikileaks, they're great!
00:18:51.000 They now have a, by the way, they went from a 47% net unfavorable rating among Republicans in 2014 to a net 27% favorable rating among Republicans now, Wikileaks.
00:19:01.000 Hey, they still are releasing American military information, but we're cool with that because they're serving our purposes.
00:19:06.000 Again, this just goes to show you that most people down deep don't really care about anything remotely approaching intellectual honesty.
00:19:13.000 They care much more about, does it serve my interests?
00:19:15.000 Does it not serve my interests?
00:19:17.000 And that's true also of the Russian hacking.
00:19:19.000 So long as the Russian hacking, we think, helped Trump, it's okay.
00:19:23.000 If the Russian hacking had helped Hillary, we'd be over the moon about it.
00:19:25.000 It'd be the end of the world.
00:19:26.000 We'd be losing our minds.
00:19:28.000 But if you're Bob Corker, right, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee,
00:19:32.000 I'm assuming that plenty of people are attempting to listen to my phone calls.
00:19:34.000 I mean, that's the way intelligence is gathered.
00:19:35.000 So the hacking piece, the hacking piece is
00:19:50.000 I mean, I don't think we ought to have our hair on fire about that.
00:19:53.000 I'm sorry.
00:19:53.000 I mean, that's what people do.
00:19:55.000 It's what you do with that.
00:19:57.000 And I mean, we need to guard against it.
00:20:00.000 We need to do everything we can to make sure that it doesn't happen.
00:20:03.000 And certainly in our office, we're doing everything we can to make sure that our computer systems are not hacked.
00:20:09.000 And this is obviously raising alarms for everyone.
00:20:12.000 But at the end of the day,
00:20:14.000 Trying to understand what Russia is doing, not only here in the United States, but in elections around the world, is an important thing for us to know, right?
00:20:24.000 But we shouldn't have our hair on fire about it, right?
00:20:26.000 We should just say, I don't even know what that means.
00:20:28.000 And I'm not sure, I would like to see Bob Corker's hair on fire just for the thrill of, the fun of it.
00:20:33.000 I mean, just the deputy dog of him running around.
00:20:36.000 With the coronavirus still speaking with the slow cadence would be amusing.
