Summary

The left is determined to paint all Republicans as racist, and none more so than Trump's own attorney general pick, Jeff Sessions, who is being attacked for having a cross-racial grandchild on his lap during his confirmation hearing. But is that evidence of racism? Or is it just off-putting? And why does it matter that the grandchild is Asian-American? Ben Shapiro explains why the left is so obsessed with race and racism that it will stop at nothing to get its point across, even if it means attacking a family member of another race. 00:00:00.000 The left ardently desires to paint all Republicans as racist, none more so than Trump Attorney General Appointment Senator Jeff Sessions.
00:00:07.000 Sessions has been hit with allegations of racism over and over.
00:00:10.000 He's got actual racist Al Sharpton protesting him.
00:00:13.000 Senator Cory Booker, Democrat of New Jersey, is scheduled to testify against Sessions, presumably on the basis of race, and also because Booker is preparing to run for president in 2020.
00:00:22.000 But the left's desire for the racism charge doesn't stop with Sessions.
00:00:25.000 It affects even his grandchildren.
00:00:27.000 Here is MTV News culture writer Ira Madison III.
00:00:30.000 Not the second or the first.
00:00:32.000 He wrote, And it's a picture of Jeff Sessions with a small Asian child on his lap.
00:00:35.000 And then he says, Why is she a prop?
00:00:52.000 Sessions argued for policy that in the 1880s was used to discriminate against Asian Americans.
00:00:56.000 In fact, Americans have long used Asian Americans as model minorities since the rise of the Civil Rights Act, etc., etc., etc.
00:01:02.000 So basically what he is suggesting is that this Asian child is just a prop.
00:01:08.000 So, you know, what's the point of all of this?
00:01:11.000 The point of all of this is that
00:01:14.000 Sessions' granddaughter is Asian, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't secretly hate Asians and everyone else who isn't white, which is disgusting.
00:01:20.000 Sessions has always been tough on illegal immigration and in favor of heavy restrictions on legal immigration.
00:01:25.000 That's not race-specific or race-centric.
00:01:27.000 As for the aesthetic of a granddaughter sitting on Sessions' lap during the hearing, is that supposed to be off-putting or politically gauche?
00:01:33.000 I mean, Nancy Pelosi did it.
00:01:35.000 We saw Bill and Hillary Clinton do it.
00:01:37.000 This isn't the first time leftists have attacked a Republican for the sin of cross-racial grandchildren.
00:01:41.000 In December 2013, an entire MSNBC panel mocked the Romney family for having a black grandchild.
00:01:47.000 Melissa Harris Perry was actually forced to apologize on air for it, but this is how many on the left feel.
00:01:52.000 Republicans aren't allowed to have cross-racial relatives or friends because they're obviously terrible racists.
00:01:57.000 Or perhaps they're not the terrible racists.
00:01:58.000 Maybe the actual terrible racists are the people who think that anyone who disagrees with them has to be incapable of racial acceptance.
00:02:05.000 The people who connect race and politics inextricably.
00:02:08.000 People who make jokes about Asian dolls from Toys R Us, for example.
00:02:11.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:02:12.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:02:17.000 All righty, so here we are.
00:02:18.000 It's a brand new day and lots to talk about.
00:02:20.000 First, in breaking news, apparently the Trump administration is not going to be putting the U.S.
00:02:25.000 embassy in Israel in Jerusalem.
00:02:28.000 They're going to be leaving it in Tel Aviv.
00:02:29.000 That's not a tremendous shock, except for the fact that it had been promised a bunch of times, but not a huge surprise.
00:02:35.000 We'll talk about that
00:02:36.000 A little bit more tomorrow in detail.
00:02:37.000 But the big story of the day is obviously the Jeff Sessions hearing.
00:02:41.000 The Attorney General of the United States, Trump's appointment to the Attorney Generalship, is being ripped apart by the left.
00:02:46.000 And we'll get to all of that in just one second, as well as the innate leftism, the innate racism of the left, in one second.
00:02:52.000 But first we have to say hello to our advertisers at Bull and Branch, and thank you to them, obviously, for helping to sponsor the program.
00:02:58.000 Bull and Branch, fantastic company.
00:03:00.000 I've now ordered three pairs of sheets from Bowl & Branch because they are so good.
00:03:04.000 These are the most comfortable sheets I have ever slept on.
00:03:07.000 They are first-rate.
00:03:08.000 I'm somebody who doesn't sleep well, normally.
00:03:10.000 I sleep very lightly, and sheet quality, I never knew.
00:03:13.000 Until you have great sheets, you actually don't know what you're missing.
00:03:15.000 You don't know what it's like to sleep on a good sheet until you've actually slept on a good sheet.
00:03:19.000 And so I've been sleeping on, you know, tarps that I get from the local gas station.
00:03:23.000 But then I got Bowl & Branch, and I gotta say that the quality of the sheets is fantastic.
00:03:27.000 I sleep better, they breathe, they're very comfortable.
00:03:30.000 And they make everything from bedding to blankets.
00:03:32.000 It's made from pure 100% organic cotton, which means they start out super soft and then they get actually softer over time.
00:03:39.000 I can attest, I love them.
00:03:40.000 Apparently three ex-presidents sleep on bull and branch sheets, which means that a lot of other people who are not married to those presidents, if you're Bill Clinton, presumably also have slept and enjoyed bull and branch sheets.
00:03:49.000 But the sheets themselves are fantastic.
00:03:52.000 Right now, you go there,
00:03:53.000 We're good to go.
00:04:12.000 That's it.
00:04:13.000 The same pair of sheets.
00:04:16.000 It's fantastic.
00:04:17.000 So, $50 off your first set of sheets from Bull & Branch at bullandbranch.com, promo code Ben.
00:04:23.000 Bullandbranch.com, promo code Ben.
00:04:25.000 I really cannot recommend this product highly enough.
00:04:27.000 I really do love my Bull & Branch sheets, and as I say, I have gone out and bought three pairs of them myself because I like them so much.
00:04:34.000 So, beyond the advertiser discount that I get, I actually went out and bought the product because it's that good.
00:04:39.000 Okay, so, lots to get to.
00:04:40.000 We begin today.
00:04:42.000 With the hubbub over Jeff Sessions.
00:04:44.000 So the senator from Alabama, who I know a little bit personally, he's always been very cordial to me, very nice guy, he's also been slammed as a racist by people on the left without real evidence.
00:04:55.000 So here is what they say to call him a racist, and we can just implode these myths right now.
00:04:59.000 Apparently, back in the 1980s, the Democrats smeared him with accusations of racism, which included calling a black attorney boy, quipping about the KKK,
00:05:08.000 Joking that a white attorney was a traitor to his race because he was collaborating with a civil rights group, calling the NAACP and ACLU un-American, and prosecuting a civil rights organization for voter fraud.
00:05:18.000 Except that pretty much all of those remarks were made in front of a black lawyer, and even the lawyer who accused Sessions of racism acknowledged that Sessions was clearly joking.
00:05:26.000 So he just didn't like the jokes, and then he accused Sessions of being a real-life racist.
00:05:30.000 Well,
00:05:30.000 Honest to goodness, if every joke that anybody ever made that has a racial undertone were taken seriously, then I'm pretty certain that almost 100% of the population would be labeled a racist in these sorts of hearings.
00:05:41.000 And that's what Democrats do.
00:05:42.000 They can't find any evidence in Sessions' record of actual racism.
00:05:46.000 Instead, what they seek to do is dredge up old conversations in which he told a joke that somebody didn't like.
00:05:51.000 That must mean that he's a racist.
00:05:53.000 That's really gross.
00:05:54.000 The Weekly Standard's Mark Hemingway has written about this.
00:05:57.000 He says the U.S.
00:05:57.000 attorney
00:05:58.000 Sessions filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama.
00:06:01.000 He prosecuted the head of the state clan, Henry Francis Hayes, for abducting and killing Michael Donald, a black teenager selected at random.
00:06:08.000 He insisted on the death penalty.
00:06:09.000 When he was elected the state attorney general, Sessions followed through.
00:06:12.000 He made sure Hayes was executed.
00:06:13.000 The successful prosecution of Hayes led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, which effectively destroyed the KKK in Alabama.
00:06:20.000 The left doesn't like Sessions because Sessions is a very hardcore law and order guy.
00:06:25.000 He's not going to be cracking down on police for stupid reasons like the Holder Justice Department and the Lynch Justice Department have done.
00:06:31.000 He's very strong on illegal immigration.
00:06:33.000 He was asked at the hearings this morning about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program under Barack Obama.
00:06:38.000 He said, look, we're going to enforce the law.
00:06:39.000 It's Congress's job to make the law.
00:06:41.000 It's my job to enforce the law.
00:06:43.000 This is exactly right.
00:06:44.000 This is how government is supposed to work.
00:06:46.000 The executive branch is the executive branch.
00:06:48.000 They execute.
00:06:49.000 It is not their job to individually rewrite law.
00:06:52.000 Good for Sessions.
00:06:53.000 Well, the left must declare him a liar.
00:06:57.000 That's what they have to do.
00:06:58.000 They have to declare him a liar and a racist.
00:07:00.000 And so they are now trotting out all sorts of people saying this.
00:07:03.000 The Democratic Party has released a video about Jeff Sessions suggesting that he is, of course, a racist.
00:07:09.000 When Donald Trump needed to find an attorney general, all he had to do was look to his alt-right.
00:07:14.000 Republican Senator Jeff Sessions was a U.S.
00:07:17.000 attorney in Alabama when then-President Ronald Reagan nominated him for the federal court.
00:07:23.000 But the appointment broke down at Sessions' 1986 confirmation hearing when allegations over his alleged racial remarks took center stage.
00:07:33.000 Jeff Sessions is a man ahead of his time.
00:07:35.000 He was alt-right when it was still just called racism.
00:07:38.000 Thomas Figures, a black former assistant U.S.
00:07:41.000 attorney in Alabama, testified Sessions called him, boy, and joked about the Ku Klux Klan.
00:07:47.000 And warned him about the way he spoke to white people.
00:07:50.000 That was then.
00:07:52.000 But who is Jeff Sessions now?
00:07:53.000 Session?
00:07:54.000 They still are racist.
00:07:56.000 Jeff Session has shown, both in his career as a U.S.
00:08:00.000 attorney, but also in his career as a United States senator, has been a hostility to the enforcement of civil rights, particularly in the area of voting rights.
00:08:09.000 He's also opposed to same-sex marriage, Roe v. Wade, equal pay, the Violence Against Women Act, and universal background checks for gun purchases.
00:08:18.000 So they're saying that he's against same-sex marriage.
00:08:20.000 That doesn't make you a bad nominee for Attorney General.
00:08:22.000 Lots of people are.
00:08:23.000 Roe v. Wade is the worst legal decision in American history outside of Dred Scott.
00:08:28.000 Equal pay.
00:08:29.000 He's not against equal pay.
00:08:30.000 He's against the federal government making it easy to sue people based on no evidence.
00:08:35.000 Of wage discrimination.
00:08:36.000 The Violence Against Women Act.
00:08:38.000 He's not against prosecuting violence against women.
00:08:41.000 The Violence Against Women Act contains some provisions that were not good in actual application.
00:08:46.000 Universal background checks on guns he's opposed because they're useless and stupid.
00:08:50.000 So, the idea here is they don't like his agenda, therefore Jeff Sessions must be a racist.
00:08:54.000 And this is how the left always acts.
00:08:55.000 And then they wonder why this card just doesn't have any weight anymore.
00:08:59.000 There are actual racists in the United States.
00:09:01.000 There are actually alt-right people.
00:09:03.000 Not all people who call themselves alt-right are actually alt-right.
00:09:05.000 There are actual Richard Spencer, Jared Taylor type alt-right people who are actual honest-to-goodness racists.
00:09:10.000 When you lump in Jeff Sessions with those people, all you're doing is making those people appear legitimate, not making Sessions appear illegitimate.
00:09:18.000 And that's really stupid of the left, but they can't help themselves.
00:09:20.000 They've gone off the rails.
00:09:21.000 They've been off the rails for a long time.
00:09:22.000 It's just that Trump, I think, has sent them finally over that last cliff.
00:09:26.000 So, all the protesters showed up at this Sessions hearing.
00:09:30.000 Again, if these people think that this is going to stop Sessions or do anything except make Americans think that radical leftists are out of their damn minds, they have to be joking.
00:09:38.000 Here's Code Pink at the event.
00:09:41.000 This is what they were doing.
00:09:43.000 Why am I being taken out of here?
00:09:45.000 This man is evil!
00:09:47.000 Pure evil!
00:09:49.000 Do not vote for Jim Sessions!
00:09:51.000 Do not vote for Jim Sessions.
00:09:53.000 Yes, we should take you—his name is Jeff Sessions.
00:09:57.000 You got the crazy code pink, ladies.
00:09:59.000 They're saying he's evil.
00:10:00.000 Don't vote for Bobbo Sessions.
00:10:02.000 Don't vote for Demetrius Sessions.
00:10:05.000 If you can't get his name right, I'm not going to take you very seriously on whether you think that he's a real threat to the republic.
00:10:11.000 I don't remember, you know, back in 1939, people going, I can't believe that we're going to have to fight this evil, evil dictator, Hans Hitler.
00:10:18.000 If you'd said that, then people might have said, well, his name's A- I'm not gonna- No.
00:10:22.000 No.
00:10:23.000 She wasn't the only one.
00:10:24.000 A bunch of people dressed up in KKK outfits showed up as well.
00:10:28.000 Those definitely look like people with day jobs.
00:10:36.000 Right there.
00:10:39.000 I don't know.
00:10:54.000 Paper towel and wrapped them around your head?
00:10:56.000 That's pretty weak tea right there.
00:10:58.000 I mean, like, really go full out.
00:10:59.000 If you're really gonna protest in this fashion, let me just suggest that you really, you know, go out for the costumes.
00:11:05.000 It ain't that hard.
00:11:05.000 I mean, goodness gracious.
00:11:07.000 So, these people show up, and they make asses of themselves, and this is supposed to convince Americans that Sessions is a racist.
00:11:13.000 Or does it just convince you that people on the left have lost their damn minds?
00:11:17.000 I'm gonna go with the latter.
00:11:19.000 Meanwhile, Sessions came out and he immediately gives a statement.
00:11:22.000 He says, of course, I abhor the Klan.
00:11:24.000 This should go without saying, but here is Senator Sessions on this.
00:11:28.000 Let me address another issue straight on.
00:11:32.000 I was accused in 1986 of failing to protect the voting rights of African-Americans by presenting the Perry County case, the voter fraud case.
00:11:42.000 and of condemning civil rights advocates and organizations and even harboring, amazingly, sympathies for the KKK.
00:11:51.000 These are damnably false charges.
00:11:54.000 I abhor the Klan and what it represents and its hateful ideology.
00:12:00.000 I insisted on Marsh Dees of the Southern Poverty Law Center and his lawsuit that led to the successful
00:12:09.000 collapse of the Klan, at least in Alabama, the seizure of their building, at least for that period of time.
00:12:16.000 As Civil Rights Division attorneys have testified before the committee, I supported fully their historic cases that the Justice Department filed to advance civil rights and that I supported, including cases to desegregate schools, abolish at-large elections for cities, county commissions, and school boards.
00:12:36.000 These at-large elections were a mechanism used to block African-American candidates from being able to be elected to boards and commissions.
00:12:45.000 It was a deliberate and part of a systemic plan to reduce the ability of African-Americans to have influence in the election and governing process.
00:12:55.000 Okay, so look, Sessions knows how to defend himself.
00:12:57.000 He's going to do fine.
00:12:58.000 He's going to sail through confirmation.
00:12:59.000 But that's not going to stop the left from trying to pillory all Republicans as racist, horrible people.
00:13:04.000 Again, the left can't just stick to charges that actually work.
00:13:08.000 Instead, they have to go to their ultimate extreme, which is calling people racist.
00:13:12.000 Cory Booker is the senator from New Jersey.
00:13:15.000 He obviously wants to run for president in 2020.
00:13:17.000 And he apparently is going to testify against Sessions today, and everybody is very much expecting him to go out there and basically call Sessions a racist, which is not only a breach of senate decorum, it's also not true.
00:13:29.000 But let's just recall, Cory Booker from 2013 talking about how wondrous it is, well actually it was earlier this year I guess, it was February 2016, talking about how wondrous it was to work with Jeff Sessions on honoring civil rights heroes.
00:13:43.000 And so this is truly one of my life's greatest moments.
00:13:46.000 I am humbled to be able to participate here in paying tribute to some of the extraordinary Americans whose footsteps paved the way for me and my generation.
00:13:58.000 I feel blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions in being the Senate sponsors of this important award.
00:14:06.000 This idiot!
00:14:27.000 It was just released who Hillary Clinton would have appointed to her cabinet.
00:14:30.000 She does not get that opportunity.
00:14:32.000 Thank God.
00:14:32.000 And what's hilarious about this list is that she has a list of people, the ghost cabinet, right?
00:14:37.000 And it's people like John Podesta for Secretary of State.
00:14:39.000 I mean, just awful, right?
00:14:41.000 Treasury Secretary Sheryl Sandberg, Defense Secretary Michelle Flory.
00:14:45.000 Keeping on Loretta Lynch as Attorney General.
00:14:46.000 But the one that sticks out is Environmental Protection Agency.
00:14:50.000 There's a quote, okay?
00:14:51.000 Environmental Protection Agency, quote, likely an African-American and or an education.
00:14:58.000 So you name all these people and then you say, also the black person to be named later.
00:15:01.000 There's like a baseball trade where you trade a star and you get back a bunch of minor leaguers and it says plus a player to be named later.
00:15:07.000 So you've got a bunch of cabinet members plus a black person to be named later, according to Hillary Clinton.
00:15:13.000 Which, again, is just an incredible thing.
00:15:14.000 I mean, that is obvious racism.
00:15:16.000 It doesn't matter who the black person is, it just matters that it's a black person.
00:15:19.000 We must have a black person at the EPA.
00:15:22.000 But they don't even see their own racism.
00:15:23.000 This is the lady who, during the campaign, lectured Americans about their own unconscious bias.
00:15:28.000 She said we all have to be worried about our implicit bias, and I, as president, will go forth and explain to white Americans all of the unconscious bias that they harbor inside those puny little racist minds.
00:15:40.000 And here's Hillary, with her ghost cabinet, and the phantom black person.
00:15:44.000 Random black person to be named later.
00:15:46.000 I'm not a racist!
00:15:48.000 It's just amazing.
00:15:49.000 My favorite story of the day actually is this story from the New York Times, courtesy of a woman named Farrah Stockman.
00:15:54.000 I believe it's a female reporter.
00:15:56.000 And here is the piece.
00:15:58.000 It's just fantastic.
00:15:59.000 I have to read it, at least a large chunk of it.
00:16:02.000 Women's March on Washington opens contentious dialogues about race.
00:16:06.000 Many thousands of women are expected to converge on the nation's capital for the Women's March on Washington, the day after Donald J. Trump's inauguration.
00:16:14.000 Jennifer Willis no longer plans to be one of them.
00:16:17.000 Ms.
00:16:17.000 Willis, a 50-year-old wedding minister from South Carolina, had looked forward to taking her daughters to the march.
00:16:22.000 Then she read a post on the Facebook page for the march that made her feel unwelcome, because she is white.
00:16:27.000 The post, written by a black activist from Brooklyn who was a march volunteer, advised, quote, white allies to listen more and talk less.
00:16:35.000 It also chided those who had said, we're only now waking up to racism because of the election.
00:16:38.000 You don't just get to join because now you're scared too, read the post.
00:16:41.000 I was born scared.
00:16:43.000 Stung by the tone, Ms.
00:16:44.000 Willis canceled her trip.
00:16:45.000 This is a women's march, she said.
00:16:47.000 We're supposed to be allies in equal pay, marriage adoption.
00:16:49.000 Why is it now about white women don't understand black women?
00:16:53.000 And then the article goes on about all of the conflict inside this group and it's pretty amazing.
00:16:59.000 I love this line.
00:16:59.000 A debate ensued about whether white women were just now experiencing what minority women experience daily or having a hard time yielding control.
00:17:07.000 A young white woman from Baltimore wrote with bitterness that white women who have been victims of rape and abuse were being, quote, asked to check their privilege.
00:17:14.000 A catchphrase that refers to people acknowledging their advantages, but which even some liberal women find unduly confrontational.
00:17:20.000 No one involved with the march fears the rancor will dampen turnout.
00:17:23.000 Even many of those who expressed dismay at the tone of the discussion said they still intended to join what is sure to be the largest demonstration yet against the Trump presidency.
00:17:30.000 But the debates over race reflect deeper questions about the future of progressivism in the age of Trump.
00:17:35.000 Should the march highlight what divides women or what unites them?
00:17:38.000 Is there room for women who have never heard of white privilege?
00:17:41.000 And at a time when a presidential candidate ran against political correctness and won, with half of white female voters supporting him, is this the time to tone down talk about race, or to double down?
00:17:51.000 It's amazing.
00:17:53.000 I love it.
00:17:53.000 The left is just ripping itself apart.
00:17:56.000 They're ripping themselves apart.
00:17:57.000 Because for the left, it's all about hierarchies of group victimhood.
00:18:01.000 Right?
00:18:01.000 So the left has this march and it's supposed to be women.
00:18:03.000 And women are the big victims, right?
00:18:04.000 This is the women's victim march.
00:18:06.000 We're all victims because we have vajunas, right?
00:18:08.000 That means that we gotta go and we gotta march together because we have uteri.
00:18:13.000 Except that there's other victim groups that actually outrank women on the wondrous scale of victimhood.
00:18:19.000 In the hierarchy of victimhood, gays outrank women, blacks outrank women, Hispanics outrank women, and so you can have what feminists like to call intersectionality.
00:18:29.000 Intersectionality.
00:18:30.000 And that means that if you are a member of one of these other hierarchical groups, and it's a higher group than the women group, then that means that we treat you as a member of that higher group.
00:18:39.000 And if you're not, then we treat you as a member of a lower group.
00:18:40.000 So the white women are now victimizers.
00:18:42.000 They can't be the people who lead this thing because they don't have highest status.
00:18:45.000 Somewhere, there is the unicorn of intersectionality.
00:18:48.000 And the unicorn of intersectionality is a pansexual, transgender, black, Hispanic, Native American woman.
00:18:57.000 Right?
00:18:57.000 If you get all those, then you're the unicorn of intersectionality, and you have ultimate moral authority to say everything, and no one can ever say anything to you, or about you.
00:19:05.000 No one can ever say anything that differs from you.
00:19:07.000 We all just have to anoint you dictator, under intersectionality.
00:19:11.000 And then you get to be the person in charge of the rest of the world, because you are the ultimate victim.
00:19:15.000 You have fallen prey to every form of victimhood there ever was, and everyone else must bow down before your cherished victimhood status.
00:19:21.000 And the left is tearing itself apart over this, and it's delicious because
00:19:25.000 No one in the real world cares about this stuff.
00:19:27.000 No one in the real world cares whether you're a woman or whether you're black or whether you're Hispanic.
00:19:30.000 There are racists, there are sexists, but that's not the way America works, folks, okay?
00:19:34.000 Most Americans don't care enough about you to be racist or sexist.
00:19:37.000 Most Americans are not sitting around going, how do we stop these particular women?
00:19:41.000 We must stop that black woman because she's black.
00:19:44.000 Most people don't have time for that.
00:19:46.000 People have jobs, people have families, and mostly people just are apathetic about other people.
00:19:51.000 The great lie about society is that we all care deeply about one another.
00:19:54.000 It's not really true.
00:19:55.000 You care deeply about your family, you care deeply about your friends, and the person who lives 100 miles away from you, yeah, you care somewhat about them, but when you read that a flood washed away the guy's home, did you really run to your wallet?
00:20:04.000 Not really.
00:20:04.000 That's human nature, okay?
00:20:05.000 That's just how it works.
00:20:07.000 Now, the bad side means you didn't rush to your wallet when the guy's home washed away.
00:20:10.000 The good news means you're not going to go burn down that guy's home because you don't know him and don't care about him.
00:20:14.000 So the fact is that, according to the left, this sort of group identity stuff is what politics is supposed to be all about.
00:20:21.000 And so they've tried to voice that on the right, you're racist, you're sexist, you're bigots, but they're the ones who are excising members of their own groups.
00:20:28.000 You can be a member of their group, but if you don't hit that cherished high status, if you're not the unicorn, then you may actually be targeted.
00:20:35.000 We have to stop for a second and say thank you to another one of our advertisers, Legacy Box.

00:22:11.000 Okay, so the Democratic Party is falling apart because they're tearing each other apart.
00:22:15.000 They're tearing themselves apart.
00:22:16.000 They're more interested in the genius of intersectionality than they are
00:22:22.000 in building an actual coalition, which is why they're falling apart and losing white voters.
00:22:26.000 I promise you, this lady, this Willis woman who is going to go and march with this Women's March and isn't going to anymore, next time around, if she doesn't vote Republican, her kids will think about it, because at a certain point, they're going to realize, I don't want to be seen.
00:22:38.000 It's funny.
00:22:38.000 They say, we all just want to be seen as women.
00:22:40.000 Why don't you just want to be seen as a human?
00:22:42.000 Why don't you just get rid of all the categories?
00:22:44.000 You want to be seen as an individual human being with qualities and attributes.
00:22:48.000 And eventually, when people get tired of being portrayed as just a member of a group, no more than your group, you want to be seen as an individual.
00:22:55.000 And that's when you become prey to me, right?
00:22:57.000 That's when you become prey to conservatism and conservative ideology, which is all about judging people as individuals based on their actions, not based on their intentions, and not based on their group identity.
