The Ben Shapiro Show

Ep. 81 - When Trump Supporters Leave Voicemail

Summary

Donald Trump is a giant liar, and you should not believe anything he says about immigration and the border wall. He has no idea what he's talking about, but he does know one thing, and that's that he's going to make Mexico pay for the wall he wants to build on the southern border. He's not going to stop at that, and he doesn't even care if it's 50 feet tall or 40 feet tall. It's not negotiable, it's just not a question of whether it'll be built or not. And that's the problem with Trump's immigration plan. He doesn't care about the size of the wall, he cares about the number of illegal immigrants he'll be able to keep out of the United States, and how many of them he'll have to be deported to do so. Ben Shapiro breaks it all down and explains why you shouldn't believe anything Trump says about it, and why you should totally believe everything he says, because he's an unshakable rock that you can't be wrong about anything he's saying, even when it's not even remotely controversial. (3:00) The New York Times leaked a recording of an off-the-record conversation with Trump in January, and it's a good one (5:00). (8:30) The Oscars are a disaster. (10:15) Super Tuesday is around the corner. (15:00), and we'll do stuff that's show-like on this particular show (16:30). (17:15). (18:20) (19:30), and Super Tuesday update on Super Tuesday, and a call from a supporter of Donald Trump (20:00:00.) (23:20), and much more! (21:00, 22:40) Is this guy a narcissist? (25:00 26:10) Is he really a rock? 27:20 Is he a rock, or is he an idolatry? And does he really believe that Donald Trump a rock ? Or is he? Or does he believe this guy really believe it? or does he think this guy have a problem with the idea that I'm a lot of people like this guy like that? Can he really think like this? ? 00:00:00.000 We're here on a Tuesday, the last day of American civilization.
00:00:04.000 Maybe.
00:00:05.000 Maybe.
00:00:05.000 We'll give you an update on what's going on for Super Tuesday.
00:00:09.000 I'll talk about a voicemail that I received from a delightful individual who supports Donald Trump, and we'll talk a little bit about the Oscars, things I like, things I—you know, it'll be a show.
00:00:18.000 We'll do stuff that's show-like on this particular show.
00:00:21.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:21.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:30.000 All right, so in today's reminder that Donald Trump is a giant liar and that you shouldn't believe anything that he says, Donald Trump was on the TVs yesterday and Donald Trump was explaining that when it comes to immigration, when it comes to his strongest, most deeply held convictions about immigration that he decided seven months ago,
00:00:47.000 When it comes to these particular decisions, he is an unshakable rock.
00:00:52.000 He is someone that you should totally believe in.
00:00:54.000 When he says he's going to build a wall and make Mexico pay for it, he's not just going to build a wall.
00:00:59.000 It will be big.
00:01:00.000 It will be magnificent.
00:01:01.000 Every time he's insulted, it will raise 10 feet to the point where eventually there will be so many insults that the wall between the United States and Mexico will actually extend into space, and the orbiting satellites will hit it, and they'll have to reprogram in order to avoid the wall Donald Trump is going to build.
00:01:15.000 Then he was asked, well, how much do you really mean this whole immigration wall thing?
00:01:20.000 And how much do you mean this whole we're going to deport everybody thing?
00:01:23.000 And here's Donald Trump explaining just how much he believes this.
00:01:26.000 The New York Times is claiming today that they had an off-the-record conversation with you in January.
00:01:31.000 Off-the-record, by the way.
00:01:32.000 Now, they're leaking it.
00:01:33.000 Typical media.
00:01:34.000 The most dishonest media group is also failing.
00:01:38.000 I call it the failing New York Times.
00:01:39.000 It is doing so badly, it's dying.
00:01:41.000 But I did.
00:01:42.000 We had a board meeting.
00:01:43.000 It was off-the-record.
00:01:44.000 All of a sudden, they leak.
00:01:45.000 It's all over the place.
00:01:45.000 They said, oh, it's negotiable on the wall.
00:01:48.000 Everything.
00:01:49.000 By the way, it is negotiable.
00:01:50.000 Things are negotiable.
00:01:50.000 I'll be honest with you.
00:01:51.000 You know, I'll make the wall two feet shorter or something.
00:01:54.000 I mean, everything's negotiable.
00:01:55.000 It's not negotiable about building it.
00:01:57.000 I actually said... No, building it?
00:01:58.000 Not negotiable.
00:01:59.000 It's not negotiable about... Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?
00:02:04.000 Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?
00:02:06.000 I would say this, look.
00:02:07.000 I've always said, we have some good people over here and they're gonna go out.
00:02:11.000 But we will work out some system that's fair, but we either have a country or we don't.
00:02:16.000 We need a border.
00:02:17.000 We need a wall.
00:02:18.000 We need a wall.
00:02:19.000 You know, I won New Hampshire, and they have a tremendous heroin problem.
00:02:22.000 And I promise the people of New Hampshire, we're going to stop that heroin from coming in.
00:02:26.000 It's a very hard thing to kick, and they have tremendous... We're going to work on the people that have the habit already, and we're going to try and...
00:02:31.000 Get them better.
00:02:33.000 We gotta try and get them better.
00:02:34.000 They have tremendous... Of all the places in New Hampshire, it's like the first question I get all the time, the heroin problem, comes right over the southern border.
00:02:40.000 Not gonna happen anymore.
00:02:41.000 It's not gonna happen anymore.
00:02:42.000 But there's always gonna be some negotiation.
00:02:44.000 I mean, whether the wall is 50 feet tall or 40 feet tall.
00:02:48.000 And one of the things, one of the reporters said to me, they said, well, what happens, you know, Vincente Fox,
00:02:53.000 So he knows where his cheer lines are.
00:03:05.000 He knows there's a crowd right there.
00:03:06.000 So he uses the, the wall got 10 feet higher.
00:03:08.000 But this is all distraction from the main message of what he's saying.
00:03:11.000 Everything is negotiable.
00:03:12.000 And he says the building the wall is not negotiable.
00:03:14.000 But if everything is negotiable, then building the wall is certainly negotiable.
00:03:18.000 So this is the one principle that his entire life, everything that he believes has been boiled down to this one principle on which he is unshakeable and immovable, and that is that there will be a wall built.
00:03:28.000 This is the guy who says everything is gonna, he's gonna make great deals.
00:03:31.000 Listen, if you want to believe this guy, if you have a desperate need, a desperate desire to believe Donald Trump,
00:03:37.000 Go for it.
00:03:38.000 Knock yourself out.
00:03:39.000 But understand that the level of idolatry that is now being attracted to people like Donald Trump and to Trump personally is really reminiscent of the Obama cult following that was built up in 2008 and that continues to this day.
00:03:50.000 If you cross Obama, you've violated the sanctity of the idol and you must be excised.
00:03:56.000 And Trump's people are like this.
00:03:58.000 Trump's people are certainly like this.
00:03:59.000 It's really kind of gross.
00:04:01.000 So to just give you an example,
00:04:04.000 Yeah, this morning, one of our advertising guys from the- I do this show, and then before I do this show, I do a group show, a three-person show in the mornings on KRLA 870 in Los Angeles and KTIE 590 in the Inland Empire, and you can listen to it online.
00:04:17.000 And one of the salespeople pops his head in.
00:04:19.000 Right after the show, and he says, do you ever check the show voicemail?
00:04:23.000 No, why would I?
00:04:23.000 He said, well, there's one that came in for you.
00:04:25.000 I emailed it to you.
00:04:27.000 And here is what this voice message sounded like.
00:04:30.000 And this is why, when I say that there's an idolatrous worship of Donald Trump that frightens me, that makes me upset, that concerns me a little bit, that's because I don't think every Trump supporter is like this.
00:04:40.000 I think most Trump supporters are not like this.
00:04:42.000 I think most Trump supporters are good-hearted people who
00:04:45.000 Are just angry at the situation and for whatever reason think he'll be the biggest change or whatever.
00:04:50.000 I think they're wrong.
00:04:50.000 That's okay.
00:04:52.000 But there is a significant percentage of Donald Trump support that is legitimate, idolatrous nutjobs.
00:04:57.000 And I say that with full understanding that I'm going to tick people off, but I don't care because this is what it sounds like.
00:05:05.000 Here's what the voicemail sounded like this morning.
00:05:09.000 Yeah, give this f***ing message to your little butt f***er over there, Ben Shapiro, a.k.a.
00:05:16.000 used to be a conservative.
00:05:18.000 I guess all you motherf***ers used to be conservatives, huh?
00:05:21.000 I mean, every last one of you motherf***ers is trying to turn on Trump.
00:05:27.000 The motherf***er that's going to save your punk motherf***ing asses from this f***ing
00:05:32.000 Well, you know what?
00:05:51.000 He did, in fact, leave his phone number, by the way, so he's a genius, obviously.
00:05:55.000 And I'm sure that if he continues to make threats like that, then there will be people in uniforms knocking at his door, because those are not threats that you make in a civilized society.
00:06:04.000 But in any case, it's this sort of idolatrous worship of Trump that allows Trump to get away with pretty much anything, pretty much anything, and is frightening for conservatives who don't worship people.
00:06:13.000 I've said, I would vote for Ted Cruz if I were voting today.
00:06:16.000 I'm not.
00:06:17.000 If I were, I would vote for Ted Cruz.
00:06:19.000 Does that mean that I won't criticize Cruz?
00:06:20.000 No, I've said that I think Cruz is, in many ways, not a good candidate.
00:06:24.000 Does it mean I won't criticize Marco Rubio?
00:06:25.000 No, I've said that Marco Rubio looked weak.
00:06:27.000 Now he looks a little stronger.
00:06:29.000 But I've bashed pretty much everybody in the race.
00:06:31.000 I don't have idolatrous worship for candidates, and it is not a conservative attribute to do so.
00:06:36.000 I don't like it when people idolize Ronald Reagan.
00:06:38.000 He did stuff that was wrong.
00:06:39.000 I don't like when people idolize George W. Bush.
00:06:41.000 It is not a conservative attribute to worship politicians.
00:06:45.000 You're supposed to believe in conservatism, not in human beings.
00:06:48.000 And if people don't hold up to the standard, you call them out for it.
00:06:50.000 Trump doesn't hold up to the standard, but his people are not calling him out for it.
00:06:54.000 Trump last night, he's on Fox News, and because he knows that he can do anything he wants, he says anything he wants.
00:07:00.000 Here's Donald Trump on Fox News, smashing the other Fox News hosts.
00:07:03.000 Now, what was interesting, because I am not a fan of Karl Rove, I think he's terrible, and no matter what I do, I win New Hampshire by a landslide.
00:07:11.000 I win Nevada by a landslide.
00:07:13.000 We killed everybody, as you know, including, we won the Evangelicals, everything, in South Carolina.
00:07:18.000 It was so incredible.
00:07:19.000 And I'm watching this guy, it's almost like
00:07:21.000 In fact, I jokingly called, I called up a friend of yours at Fox.
00:07:24.000 I said, gee, I've been watching Fox, do you think I won?
00:07:27.000 I won by a landslide.
00:07:28.000 Okay, but Karl Rove the other night... You obviously weren't watching my show.
00:07:30.000 No, no, I know.
00:07:31.000 Your show is great.
00:07:32.000 But I called up Karl Rove the other night, you know, just a friend, and I'm watching Karl Rove, and he says, Donald Trump needs 300 points
00:07:40.000 And I said, that sounds reasonable.
00:07:41.000 Then a friend of mine said, it's impossible to get 300 points.
00:07:43.000 So here's what's going to happen.
00:07:45.000 If I get 240 or 250 or 260, which everybody would be thrilled at, he'll say, Donald Trump had a bad night.
00:07:52.000 Because somebody said it's impossible to get 300.
00:07:54.000 So look, you get some bad people in Fox.
00:07:57.000 You get some great people too, but you get some bad people.
00:07:59.000 And you're going to have... Wait a minute.
00:08:02.000 In all fairness, have you ever watched MSNBC?
00:08:04.000 They suck.
00:08:05.000 They're really bad.
00:08:06.000 But they do treat me well.
00:08:09.000 And I have to tell you, I have great respect for Fox.
00:08:11.000 I know you do.
00:08:11.000 And you, and O'Reilly, although he can be a little bit rough, and Greta, and so many others.
00:08:16.000 Neil Cavuto, Fox & Friends.
00:08:17.000 Steve Doocy, Fox & Friends, O'Brien.
00:08:20.000 Let me ask you this, Quayle.
00:08:21.000 I will tell you, you have a couple of people that shouldn't be on.
00:08:23.000 Stephen Hayes should not be on the show.
00:08:25.000 He shouldn't be on.
00:08:25.000 He's so biased.
00:08:26.000 Karl Rove, he still thinks Romney won.
00:08:28.000 Do you remember after the election?
00:08:31.000 Romney won, Romney won.
00:08:32.000 They had to pull him off the air.
00:08:33.000 The election ended about four hours ago.
00:08:35.000 I'm telling you, Romney won.
00:08:37.000 He shouldn't be on the air.
00:08:38.000 Okay, he shouldn't be on the air.
00:08:39.000 Stephen Hayes shouldn't be on the air.
00:08:40.000 Look, I think Karl Rove is a joke as well, but the idea that Donald Trump is now going to be the great arbiter of who goes on the air and who doesn't, and the only people who deserve to be on the air are people who fully agree with Donald Trump, it's ridiculous, but he's able to get away with it.
00:08:53.000 And people are excusing his behavior.
00:08:55.000 And his behavior, as we talked about yesterday with the refusal to disavow David Duke and the KKK on national TV, he did it the next day when there was blowback, of course, because this is what he does, he says insane things, and then when there's blowback, he attempts to walk it back and pretend that his earpiece was malfunctioning or some other such nonsense.
00:09:12.000 He gets defended anyway.
00:09:13.000 He gets defended anyway because people are so invested in institutions that they are willing to overlook the nasty and evil things that individuals do.
00:09:21.000 So here's a bunch of Fox News hosts last night on The Five defending Donald Trump over the KKK controversy.
00:09:27.000 I think the earpiece must have been made in China.
00:09:29.000 It was a lousy earpiece, bad earpiece.
00:09:31.000 A few things here, though.
00:09:33.000 Hillary Clinton actively sought out the endorsement of Democratic KKK Senator Robert Byrd.
00:09:40.000 Donald Trump didn't seek out any endorsement.
00:09:42.000 He disavowed it.
00:09:42.000 That's one.
00:09:43.000 Also, Barack Obama sat in racist Reverend Wright's church pews for 20 years, never even disavowed it, and then all of a sudden Trump... I don't think he sat in David Duke's pews.
00:09:55.000 Third thing.
00:09:57.000 I remember when the New Black Panther Party endorsed Obama in 2008, but I don't remember Meet the Press saying, do you disavow this?
00:10:05.000 You know, whenever it's a whack job racist Republican being endorsed or doing the endorsing, the media wants to smear them, but they bury it on the left.
00:10:13.000 Can I throw this in here also, Daniel, weigh in on this, but CNN, they kept going after it, they kept going after it.
00:10:18.000 Look, I disavowed it already.
00:10:19.000 Can we move on?
00:10:20.000 You know what it is?
00:10:21.000 Does CNN hold anyone else to that standard?
00:10:23.000 You know what?
00:10:24.000 Struggling.
00:10:25.000 Struggling.
00:10:26.000 This is CNN trying to be in the top spot.
00:10:28.000 They're not going to get there.
00:10:29.000 They're trying to make something out of nothing.
00:10:31.000 It's like tag this along in the news cycle so there's more focus on them.
00:10:34.000 It's very transparent.
00:10:35.000 It's very obvious.
00:10:37.000 It's not working either.
00:10:38.000 Well, one thing I think that with this momentum or the movement comes an awesome responsibility and an opportunity for somebody like Donald Trump.
00:10:48.000 So he disavowed David Duke before.
00:10:50.000 One of the things that helped eradicate, not eradicate, but to denounce the KKK was ridicule.
00:10:56.000 And that really came from popular culture.
00:10:58.000 And Donald Trump is in a perfect position now, if he chose, to further ridicule them and snuff out the hate.
00:11:05.000 And he has an opportunity to do that.
00:11:07.000 He will no doubt be asked this again.
00:11:09.000 Maybe not here, but other places.
00:11:10.000 And let's not kid ourselves that in the general election, would this be an issue that the Democrats are going to push and push on?
00:11:16.000 Yes.
00:11:17.000 It might not be fair to the points that you just made, but let's not kid ourselves, that is coming.
00:11:21.000 Final thought on this before we go on?
00:11:23.000 Senator Byrd was in the United States Senate and long ago stopped being involved with the KKK.
00:11:28.000 He was a wizard, right?
00:11:29.000 Or was he a dragon?
00:11:30.000 No, he was a member.
00:11:32.000 Long ago.
00:11:33.000 This is back in the 30s and we're talking about something far forth.
00:11:36.000 And you know, this idea of the new Black Panther Party.
00:11:39.000 My God.
00:11:39.000 Let me get the new Black Panther Party.
00:11:42.000 Is intimidating, scaring people, setting houses on fire like the KKK?
00:11:46.000 No, they're intimidating people at the voting booth.
00:11:48.000 You can pause it here.
00:11:50.000 Bottom line is that Juan Williams, he starts off there and what he actually says at the beginning there is correct.
00:11:55.000 That Byrd had denounced the KKK by a certain point.
00:11:57.000 That doesn't mean that you get a free pass on that.
00:12:00.000 Here's the part of this that's really astounding.
00:12:03.000 I agree.
00:12:03.000 There's a massive double standard in the media.
00:12:05.000 I said it yesterday.
00:12:06.000 Barack Obama was backed by all sorts of evil, terrible groups and he was never asked about it.
00:12:10.000 That still doesn't explain why Donald Trump did not denounce the KKK and David Duke when given the opportunity repeatedly to do so by Jake Tapper on national TV on a highly watched Sunday show.
00:12:21.000 Doesn't explain it.
00:12:22.000 Doesn't explain it at all.
00:12:23.000 And all these Fox News hosts are here trying to spin it, trying to defend him.
00:12:28.000 Dana Perino gets it basically right.
00:12:29.000 She's gonna be asked about this.
00:12:30.000 He better have a better answer than what he gave his bad earpiece or whatever.
00:12:33.000 But everybody is so interested in redirecting away from Trump that sometimes Trump can be wrong.
00:12:39.000 Sometimes Trump can say bad, nasty, terrible things.
00:12:42.000 And by the way, when he says bad, nasty, and terrible things, it actually means something.
00:12:45.000 It actually has an impact.
00:12:47.000 Megyn Kelly did a much better job of this last night.
00:12:49.000 Chat on Mike Huckabee.
00:12:50.000 And Huckabee, who's just...
00:12:52.000 A disappointment in every possible way.
00:12:54.000 Mike Huckabee was supposed to be, you know, the voice of a lot of religious conservatives, and he jumped aboard the bandwagon of an adulterer, of an adulterous, strip club-owning, sack-of-lying debris who says that women should be treated like bleep.
00:13:09.000 Mike Huckabee jumped on that bandwagon, and now he's out there defending Donald Trump, mainly because he hates Ted Cruz a lot, a lot, a lot, because of some behind-the-scenes maneuvering.
00:13:17.000 Here's Megyn Kelly holding Huckabee's feet to the fire, doing a much better job than Eric Bolling just did right there, or Jesse Waters, who's the other guy there, or I think it was Kimberly Guilfoyle.
00:13:25.000 Here's Megyn Kelly.
00:13:26.000 What do you make of that?
00:13:27.000 Let's start with Mitt Romney's response, saying this is coddling of bigotry and disqualifying for Donald Trump.
00:13:35.000 I'm amazed that Mitt would say that.
00:13:37.000 I mean, Donald Trump has repeatedly disavowed David Duke, disavowed the Klan.
00:13:43.000 I don't think anybody has suggested that Donald Trump... When did he repeatedly disavow the Klan?
00:13:47.000 Well, he did it in his Twitter account.
00:13:49.000 He did it on Friday.
00:13:50.000 The Klan or David Duke?
00:13:51.000 He did it today, repeatedly.
00:13:53.000 Well, both.
00:13:54.000 And I don't know of anybody who has ever suggested that Donald Trump is a racist.
00:13:58.000 I'm not speaking as somebody who's out there advocating for Trump.
00:14:01.000 I just want to say that I just don't think that Donald Trump has given any indication that he's supportive of the Ku Klux Klan.
00:14:09.000 My gosh, who would be?
00:14:09.000 None except in that interview is what his critics say.
00:14:12.000 None except in that interview is what his critics say because it was so strange that he would say on Friday, I disavowed David Duke and then when specifically asked on Sunday, act like he didn't know who David Duke was.
00:14:25.000 You know, I can't answer that.
00:14:27.000 You know, I really can't.
00:14:28.000 You'll have to ask Donald Trump, because I haven't talked to him about it.
00:14:32.000 How do you explain that?
00:14:34.000 I mean, what his critics say is, the explanation is, he heard very well, and he was trying to give some sort of a dog whistle to people in the South who don't want to hear David Duke disavowed.
00:14:46.000 That's what Mitt Romney's suggesting right there.
00:14:48.000 Sure, Mitt Romney wasn't on the earpiece, neither was Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz, and I wasn't either.
00:14:53.000 But Trump heard David Duke in that earpiece, you know that, because he repeated back David Duke to Jake Tapper.
00:15:00.000 Yeah, look, here's the one thing I think is important.
00:15:03.000 Is Donald Trump a racist?
00:15:05.000 I don't think he is.
00:15:06.000 Does Donald Trump support the KKK?
00:15:08.000 Heavens no, I don't think anybody seriously is suggesting that he is giving a wink and a nod.
00:15:16.000 And good for Megyn Kelly for holding his feet to the fire here.
00:15:19.000 Rush Limbaugh got this exactly right.
00:15:21.000 So Rush on the air yesterday, he was talking about why Trump didn't disavow the KKK and David Duke on the Sunday shows, and here's what Rush Limbaugh had to say, and he is totally and completely correct on this.
00:15:30.000 Here's Rush.
00:15:31.000 But there has to be a reason!
00:15:34.000 Let me throw a theory out there to you.
00:15:37.000 The Sunday shows
00:16:04.000 have amazingly still their own separate and distinct stature.
00:16:12.000 What is said on a Sunday show is treated differently and may be different in terms of its weight than what is said in a little soundbite that's part of the nightly news, for example.
00:16:27.000 Or part of a guest appearance on a cable news show during the evening.
00:16:34.000 A Sunday show.
00:16:37.000 That's stature.
00:16:42.000 By reputation.
00:16:43.000 Sunday show is serious, no fooling around.
00:16:50.000 It's like for the record.
00:16:52.000 What you say on the Sunday show
00:16:55.000 And it could well be that Trump thinks of it that way and just didn't want the quote.
00:17:01.000 Did not want any soundbite from the Sunday show one way or the other because maybe Trump's nervous.
00:17:12.000 Maybe he's nervous after that debate.
00:17:14.000 Maybe he's worried that the polls don't indicate it.
00:17:17.000 Maybe he's worried that Cruz and Rubio are gaining on him and he doesn't want to tick off anybody that might vote for him.
00:17:22.000 And there you have it.
00:17:23.000 And that's exactly right.
00:17:24.000 The reason that Trump didn't do this is because Donald Trump did not want to tick off a certain segment of his support.
00:17:32.000 Excuse me, that is in fact racist and xenophobic and anti-semitic.
00:17:36.000 And yes, there are those supporters out there.
00:17:38.000 Yes, there are those supporters out there.
00:17:40.000 Louis Farrakhan came out today and endorsed Donald Trump, essentially.
00:17:43.000 Here's Louis Farrakhan, the leader of the Nation of Islam, radical anti-Semite, Jew-hater extraordinaire, says that they're the spawn of Satan.
00:17:50.000 Here's Louis Farrakhan basically endorsing Trump, specifically because Trump isn't for the Jews.
00:17:55.000 Here we go.
00:17:57.000 Donald Trump?
00:18:11.000 I like Trump.
00:18:13.000 He'll take America to hell in a rocket ship.
00:18:20.000 Because he really, he really got the courage to do it.
00:18:32.000 And so that was Farrakhan.
00:18:33.000 And the reason I like him is because he ain't bought and paid for.
00:18:37.000 There it is.
00:18:37.000 By whom?
00:18:39.000 But that don't mean you should vote for him.
00:18:41.000 He's bought and paid for by the Jews.
00:18:43.000 That's the Farrakhan line.
00:18:44.000 And David Duke has said the same thing.
00:18:46.000 David Duke of the KKK, formerly of the KKK.
00:18:48.000 Here's David Duke talking about why Trump is spectacular.
00:18:52.000 This is the guy who Trump disavowed and then undisavowed and then disavowed again.
00:18:57.000 David Duke.
00:18:59.000 And I think the appeal of Donald Trump is the fact that he's giving voice to a lot of people, including, and I think he represents the rights of all people in this country, but he actually includes the values and the interests of the European-American majority, and I think that's the underlying appeal behind his popularity.
00:19:19.000 Right.
00:19:19.000 So, on that note, tell me, I know you have endorsed Trump, but you support him to a certain extent, and you touched on why.
00:19:29.000 Do you find him to be a divisive figure at all?
00:19:31.000 Do you think he's polarizing with some of his comments, you know, minority groups and Muslims particularly?
00:19:38.000 No, I think the divisive factor is the overwhelming thrust of the American media, which basically is very divisive.
00:19:48.000 I think it produces, I think a lot of the media today and a lot of the movies today, for instance, the popular movie Django, and there's many other examples of this,
00:19:56.000 We're good to go.
00:20:13.000 That we have a right to continue that.
00:20:15.000 There's a big discussion about what American values are and the idea that immigration, a lot of Americans are concerned about massive immigration of non-European people, non-Christian people to America and they say this is to want to preserve our American heritage or our values in this country, that that's against American values and that's just totally untrue.
00:20:38.000 Okay, so David Duke basically says that Trump is in essence revenge.
00:20:42.000 He's in essence revenge.
00:20:43.000 We've had all of these presidents like Barack Obama who have come along and they've elevated the interests of the black man above the interests of the white man.
00:20:50.000 And we need somebody like Donald Trump who's going to elevate the interests of the European Americans above the interests of other groups of people.
00:20:56.000 Again, it's just group identity in reverse and it's nasty.
00:21:00.000 As far as the anti-Semitism, the reason that he won't disavow people like David Duke, the reason is because
00:21:05.000 I can tell you, I have been in politics since I was 17 years old.
00:21:09.000 So 15 years I've been in politics professionally.
00:21:12.000 I've bashed an enormous number of candidates.
00:21:15.000 I've bashed the living hell out of Barack Obama, out of Harriet Reid, out of Nancy Pelosi.
00:21:19.000 I've bashed the hell out of Ron Paul.
00:21:20.000 I've bashed the hell out of Mitt Romney.
00:21:22.000 I've bashed the hell out of John McCain.
00:21:24.000 I've gone after an enormous number of politicians.
00:21:26.000 I've gone after Arab terrorists.
00:21:29.000 I've gone after Muslim Palestinians who hate Jews.
00:21:32.000 I have never received the level of anti-Semitic tweets
00:21:35.000 As I have in the last couple of months.
00:21:38.000 And this is not about poor me, I'm a victim.
00:21:40.000 This is just about exposing the fact that there are a significant number of Donald Trump supporters who are actual white supremacists.
00:21:47.000 Who are actual white supremacists.
00:21:48.000 Here for example, here's just some of, this is just from yesterday, okay?
00:21:51.000 Here's some of the tweets that I received just yesterday.
00:21:54.000 Um, about, uh, in response to, uh, some, some columns that I'd written about Trump.
00:22:00.000 So here, for example, is, uh, is a picture that looks like it's directly from a Nazi magazine, uh, of a, of a stereotypical Jew, long nose, beard, sweaty, ugly, and it says in capital letters, Oy vey, shut it down.
00:22:12.000 This is in response to, uh, a piece that I wrote about Trump back in 2011.
00:22:16.000 Here's another one.
00:22:18.000 Somebody writes, Ben Shapiro has gone full shekels again, criticizing Trump over Dr. David Duke.
00:22:23.000 And it's another picture of a stereotypical looking Jewish cartoon, looks almost like a Middle Ages cartoon, like a wood carving of a Jew.
00:22:33.000 Again, the terrible teeth and the long nose and the ugly hunchback and says, I'm your friend, trust me, next to that.
00:22:40.000 Here's another one.
00:22:41.000 The nose has been exposed, show for the high score, ma Israel.
00:22:46.000 Because all I care about is Israel, obviously, because if I care about the country not falling in the thrall to a con man who's not conservative in any respect, it must be because of the fact that I'm Jewish.
00:22:58.000 And here's another one.
00:22:59.000 What would you expect from a Kuk Jew?
00:23:01.000 And then there's a picture of a rooster, and it says, Kuk, Kuk, Kuk, Kuk, Kuk, Kuk, Kuk.
00:23:05.000 Okay, Kuk is some sort of internet speak.
00:23:08.000 It's the alt-right speak.
00:23:09.000 It's for people who are not sufficiently conservative or interested in America.
00:23:14.000 Cuck is supposed to be cuckold.
00:23:17.000 They call you a cuck-servative.
00:23:18.000 You're a cuckold conservative.
00:23:19.000 You're somebody who enjoys watching your wife stooped by black men or other men.
00:23:23.000 It's some white supremacist nonsense they've put out there.
00:23:26.000 You're being cucked.
00:23:27.000 You're a cuck if you don't back Donald Trump.
00:23:30.000 And there's more.
00:23:31.000 How about this one?
00:23:33.000 It says, I think Ben Shapiro is just upset.
00:23:35.000 The ruse is up.
00:23:36.000 And then there's a cartoon of what looks like an alien lizard holding in front of like a mason, the mason sign and the mason holding in front of the Jew and against that stereotypical cartoon of the Jew, the dollar sign.
00:23:47.000 And then that in front of what looks like kind of a stereotypical badger holding a hamburger.
00:23:52.000 So the Jews are controlling the Americans again.
00:23:54.000 And how about this one?
00:23:56.000 Ann Coulter tweeted me with a column that I wrote in 2011.
00:23:58.000 I told you about this yesterday, the column where I said that Donald Trump would make a really good candidate, which he is.
00:24:03.000 He's a very significant candidate, obviously.
00:24:05.000 He's gonna win.
00:24:06.000 But, you know, he's revealed himself to be an unprincipled, disgusting bag of human debris.
00:24:11.000 And this person tweeted back,
00:24:13.000 Not just any magic, and Talmudic magic, because the column I wrote in 2011 was called The Magic of Donald Trump.
00:24:19.000 It says not just any magic, Talmudic magic, and then there's some sort of creepy picture of a knight with wings, and it looks like something quasi-biblical.
00:24:27.000 And there's more.
00:24:28.000 This is the final one.
00:24:30.000 Here is the stereotypical Jewish picture, but somebody who has significant followers on the right.
00:24:37.000 He's taken a picture of my face and pasted it over that ugly Jewish stereotype.
00:24:43.000 So, when people say, why, why, oh why, why would Donald Trump not disown the KKK?
00:24:49.000 Why wouldn't he disown a national television David Duke?
00:24:53.000 Why wouldn't he do any of those things?
00:24:55.000 Because there are a lot of supporters of his who are doing things like this and he doesn't want to alienate them.
00:25:00.000 The Daily Stormer is a neo-Nazi site.
00:25:02.000 They have an entire vertical labeled the Jewish problem and another labeled race war.
00:25:06.000 They've dedicated article after article to little old Christ-killing Kike Shapiro.
00:25:12.000 Complete with a Nazi-style Jewish star painted on my shoulder.
00:25:16.000 4chan and... and...
00:25:18.000 Well, what's the Shecky forums?
00:25:20.000 All these kind of like underground alright forums.
00:25:23.000 They've finally discovered that I was a Jew.
00:25:25.000 They realized I was a Jew when I didn't back their great Fuhrer, Donald Trump.
00:25:30.000 It's not just me who's getting this, by the way.
00:25:32.000 Jake Tapper at CNN gets this.
00:25:33.000 My friend, Bethany Mandel, who's Jewish in New York, she gets this.
00:25:36.000 She actually bought a gun because she was afraid of the number of people who are tweeting her and tweeting apparently personal information about her.
00:25:42.000 Jon Podhors of Commentary Magazine.
00:25:45.000 Now again, this doesn't mean that nearly the vast majority of Donald Trump supporters are these people.
00:25:48.000 This is a subset.
00:25:48.000 This is a small subset.
00:26:04.000 Because I met a lot of Donald Trump supporters and they aren't these folks.
00:26:07.000 But there is this subset.
00:26:09.000 And Donald Trump, I'm not gonna slander Donald Trump or smear him with his supporters.
00:26:14.000 Because we all have supporters that we don't particularly like.
00:26:16.000 People who, if you're a public figure, someone like me, you get emails, commenters who you don't agree with, who you don't like, who may like your stuff for whatever odd reason.
00:26:25.000 But, but you can quash this if you really want to if it's a big enough phenomenon.
00:26:31.000 All Donald Trump has to say is all these people are disgusting.
00:26:34.000 I'm not going to stand for any anti-Semitism in my campaign.
00:26:36.000 I'm not going to stand in favor of David Duke or the KKK.
00:26:40.000 Anybody who is of those those groups is a disgusting human being.
00:26:44.000 If they want to vote for me, that's their problem.
00:26:45.000 I can't do anything about that, but they are refuse.
00:26:49.000 He doesn't do that.
00:26:50.000 He doesn't do that.
00:26:50.000 He talks it off.
00:26:51.000 He kind of blows it off.
00:26:53.000 Again, Trump doesn't have to take responsibility for these people.
00:27:01.000 He's not responsible for them.
00:27:04.000 I have a feeling that one of the reasons that Donald Trump in recent weeks has shifted from a thoroughly pro-Israel position to a, well, I'll have to see where I take moral sides position, is because he doesn't want to look like a cuck for Israel.
00:27:15.000 This is why he doesn't want to condemn David Duke and the KKK on the national stage, at least until he's forced to, because he doesn't want to look like a cuck
00:27:23.000 For the blacks or for the Jews.
00:27:24.000 This is gross stuff, folks.
00:27:26.000 It's really gross stuff.
00:27:27.000 And it's political manipulation at its finest.
00:27:29.000 Because there's no other... I can't think of another decent explanation for why Donald Trump did that.
00:27:33.000 And I'm not stupid.
00:27:34.000 I'm not going to buy into your earpiece didn't work.
00:27:37.000 I'm sorry, I just don't buy it.
00:27:38.000 It's a bunch of crap and I'm not going to buy into that bunch of crap.
00:27:41.000 It's not real.
00:27:42.000 It's not real.
00:27:42.000 And this is why I believe that Donald Trump must, must, must be defeated.
00:27:47.000 And I'll talk about the delegate math of today in just a second.
00:27:50.000 I'm gonna give you five quick reasons why Donald Trump needs to be defeated, really needs to be defeated.
00:27:54.000 I'm fully on the anti-Trump train now.
00:27:57.000 Five months ago, I wasn't, because he hadn't revealed himself to this extent.
00:28:01.000 Five months ago, Donald Trump was just a guy slapping the establishment, he was ignorant on policy, he wasn't particularly conservative, but he seemed to be moving in that direction.
00:28:09.000 Okay.
00:28:09.000 Now Donald Trump has revealed himself for who he is.
00:28:12.000 He is an egoistic political manipulator, a self-centered egoistic political manipulator, who is willing to greenlight the worst sorts of behavior in his supporters so long as they stick behind him.
00:28:23.000 So here are five reasons why Donald Trump must be stopped for the good of the conservative movement and for the good of the country.
00:28:28.000 And this is not saying you vote for Hillary.
00:28:30.000 This is saying right now we're in primaries.
00:28:32.000 Do not vote for Donald Trump.
00:28:34.000 If you're thinking of voting for a fringe candidate like John Kasich or Ben Carson, please, for the love of God, stop it.
00:28:39.000 It's a waste of time.
00:28:40.000 It's a waste of votes.
00:28:42.000 In 2012, I argued that Mitt Romney would damage conservatism.
00:28:46.000 Here's what I wrote about Mitt Romney in 2012.
00:28:48.000 Defeating horrible politicians like Barack Obama is the top goal, but that does not justify redefining conservatism entirely.
00:28:55.000 When we deliberately broaden conservatism to encompass government-forced purchase of health insurance, or raising taxes, or appointing liberal judges, or enforcing same-sex marriage, or using taxpayer money to bail out businesses or push trade barriers,
00:29:09.000 We destroy conservatism from within.
00:29:11.000 This is what I said about Romney in 2012.
00:29:13.000 I use the exact same standard for Donald Trump.
00:29:15.000 He is not conservative on any issue.
00:29:17.000 Any issue.
00:29:18.000 He's going to grow government.
00:29:19.000 He's not going to shrink it.
00:29:20.000 He believes in the unchecked power of the executive branch.
00:29:24.000 And his base holds liberal positions on economic issues, according to a study from Rand Corporation today.
00:29:30.000 If Trump wins the nomination, all of his followers will seek to broaden the definition of conservatism to include things that are simply not conservative.
00:29:37.000 Second reason you shouldn't back Donald Trump.
00:29:39.000 He is going to destroy the perception of what conservatism is.
00:29:43.000 I've spent literally my entire career, and I know people have spent way longer than I have, fighting the left's lie that conservatives and Republicans are racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, anti-Semites.
00:29:53.000 I've spent my entire career fighting this because it's not true.
00:29:56.000 Conservatism is not a philosophy of bigotry.
00:29:59.000 Donald Trump destroys this entire argument.
00:30:02.000 Nominating Donald Trump just gives the ball to the left.
00:30:05.000 It just does.
00:30:07.000 He says he's fighting political correctness, but it's not fighting political correctness to go light on David Duke and the KKK.
00:30:12.000 It is not being politically incorrect to hug it out with Vladimir Putin, or mock the disabled, or rip on women and say they should be treated like bleep, or say that Megyn Kelly is bleeding out of her wherever, or laugh at prisoners of war,
00:30:23.000 Or entertain 9-11 conspiracy theories.
00:30:25.000 Or say that judges are inadequate because of their ethnicity.
00:30:28.000 He said this the other day about the Trump U case.
00:30:30.000 He said he can't trust the judge because the judge is Hispanic.
00:30:33.000 How's any of this?
00:30:34.000 How's any of this good for the conservative movement?
00:30:36.000 It isn't.
00:30:37.000 All it does is it allows everybody to paint all of us, all conservatives, with the brush of Donald Trump.
00:30:43.000 And today, Nancy Pelosi said, Trump just being more candid about agenda of discrimination Republicans have been advancing for years.
00:30:50.000 This is going to be the typical line.
00:30:52.000 And for those of us who understand that Donald Trump is problematic, that's a hard line to argue against when you're trying to defeat him.
00:30:59.000 Because he does bring forth these elements, there's no question.
00:31:04.000 Third reason, he's fracturing the Republican Party beyond repair.
00:31:06.000 Beyond repair.
00:31:07.000 We were all ticked off.
00:31:08.000 Conservatives were ticked off at McCain and at Romney and the failure to stop Obamacare and the failure to walk back Obama's executive amnesty.
00:31:16.000 We were all ticked off.
00:31:16.000 We were all upset about that.
00:31:18.000 We were all angry about that.
00:31:19.000 And we had a right to be upset and angry about all of that.
00:31:22.000 We did.
00:31:23.000 And on the other side, there are a bunch of disenchanted blue-collar Americans sick of hearing from Obama and from the media that the stock market is going up, therefore you must be doing just fine.
00:31:32.000 Tired of the politically correct anti-Americanism of the Obama administration.
00:31:37.000 And that that second group is the Trump people, that second group, the disenchanted blue collar folks who feel alienated because of all of the politically correct race baiting from the left.
00:31:47.000 All of that, all of those people are Trump people.
00:31:49.000 But the GOP used to be able to hold its coalition together on the basis of certain baseline principles, small government, hawkish foreign policy.
00:31:57.000 A social conservatism and family life.
00:31:59.000 Trump opposes all this stuff.
00:32:01.000 He opposes all this stuff.
00:32:02.000 So what's happening is that the conservative movement, the Republican Party is splintering.
00:32:06.000 It used to be able to hold together kind of populists and conservatives, and now it's splintering because Trump is going full-scale populist, and conservatives are saying, no, the party's going to rip apart, and I don't know that anybody can put this back together again.
00:32:18.000 Fourth reason.
00:32:19.000 Trump is ushering in an era of European-style politics.
00:32:22.000 Barack Obama is a European leftist.
00:32:24.000 The left in America is European.
00:32:26.000 Bernie Sanders is just a European leftist.
00:32:28.000 He's a normal European Labor Party leftist.
00:32:30.000 That's who Bernie Sanders is.
00:32:31.000 But the right in America was always different.
00:32:33.000 This is why America was different.
00:32:34.000 Because the right in America was always about the Constitution and limited government and negative rights.
00:32:40.000 That means rights against the government, rights to freedom and prosperity, rights to free speech, the right to be left alone, essentially.
00:32:47.000 That's what we were about.
00:32:47.000 Trump is not for any of this stuff.
00:32:49.000 Trump looks a lot more like a European right leader, like a nationalist right leader who believes in big government.
00:32:54.000 Yeah, government can do the right things.
00:32:56.000 We just have to shut the borders.
00:32:57.000 He sounds like Marine Le Pen in France.
00:32:59.000 He sounds like Silvio Berlusconi did in Italy.
00:33:01.000 He sounds like all of the European right leaders, the kind of far-right nationalist European leaders.
00:33:06.000 That's not the American right.
00:33:07.000 It's not the American right.
00:33:08.000 It's a different brand of being right and has nothing to do with the Constitution or John Locke.
00:33:14.000 It has nothing to do with Montesquieu or de Tocqueville.
00:33:17.000 It has everything to do with an attempt to preserve borders
00:33:21.000 Even as you create this massive welfare state with which normal conservative Americans disagree.
00:33:27.000 Finally, fifth reason Trump has to be stopped is because I don't think Trump wins.
00:33:30.000 I just gotta tell you, I don't think Trump wins.
00:33:32.000 He could.
00:33:33.000 He could shock me.
00:33:33.000 He could, you know, he could break out of the box.
00:33:36.000 He could be the crazy candidate Hillary can't deal with.
00:33:39.000 He could also lose 50 states.
00:33:40.000 You could see a situation in which Trump loses everything.
00:33:43.000 Easily.
00:33:44.000 That's not hard to imagine at all.
00:33:45.000 He loses all 50 states.
00:33:46.000 So we break apart the Republican Party, redefine conservatism, hand the club of conservatism as racist and sexist and homophobic and anti-semitic to our enemies, and we do all of that to lose to Hillary Clinton.
00:33:56.000 That could be the worst possible scenario, and Trump would bring all of that on.
00:34:00.000 So this stuff, you know, please recognize Donald Trump
00:34:05.000 is entertaining and he hits a lot of the right people, but he hits a lot of the wrong people too.
00:34:09.000 And now he's become a threat to conservatism itself because of all these idolatrous people who follow him.
00:34:14.000 Not 49% who follow him.
00:34:17.000 10% of the people who follow him.
00:34:19.000 10% are just idolaters from beginning to end, and they're willing to follow Trump to the ends of the earth.
00:34:23.000 We don't need idolaters in conservatism.
00:34:25.000 Idolatry is not a conservative value.
00:34:27.000 It is pagan.
00:34:28.000 Idolatry is of the left.
00:34:30.000 It should not be of the right.
00:34:32.000 Meanwhile, the other candidates are just kind of futzing around.
00:34:34.000 Ben Carson, I don't know anybody who's blown more goodwill than Dr. Ben Carson in this race.
00:34:39.000 Dr. Ben Carson is somebody who I've defended repeatedly.
00:34:41.000 I can't defend him.
00:34:42.000 I haven't defended him for a month, ever since it became clear he was irrelevant, and yet he sticks around to raise money.
00:34:47.000 Here's Dr. Carson saying he's not going to leave this race pretty much under any circumstances.
00:34:52.000 Make the case for yourself, Dr. Carson, that you'll have a good night tonight.
00:34:57.000 Well, there's always the possibility that people will awaken and recognize that just what they were asking for is what I have presented for them.
00:35:07.000 You know, someone who's honest.
00:35:08.000 You know, they can't find any scandals.
00:35:11.000 All the lies that have been told have been debunked.
00:35:14.000 You're looking for somebody of accomplishment.
00:35:17.000 You know, you look at my life, you know, I don't think anybody could ask for more accomplishment.
00:35:24.000 They're asking for somebody who understands them.
00:35:27.000 You know, I've had so many different kinds of jobs, it's unimaginable.
00:35:32.000 And somebody who's gone from the bottom 1% to the top 1% understands all the socioeconomic levels of our society.
00:35:39.000 And, you know, somebody who's an outsider.
00:35:42.000 Somebody who's a member of We The People.
00:35:45.000 And somebody who's honest.
00:35:46.000 So, if you look at all the things that people are asking for, they sit right here, but a lot of times it's sitting under your nose and you don't recognize it.
00:35:53.000 And maybe they will begin to recognize it.
00:35:56.000 But the one thing I do know is I have millions of social media fans and they're begging me not to get out.
00:36:03.000 They're continuing to support us tremendously economically.
00:36:07.000 So there is really no reason to disregard what they have to say.
00:36:13.000 Okay, so he's just gonna stick around.
00:36:15.000 He says, as long as people send me money, I'm gonna stay in the race.
00:36:17.000 This is Carson's actual line.
00:36:18.000 As long as people send him money.
00:36:21.000 The ego is enormous.
00:36:23.000 Ted Cruz, meanwhile, is smacking Donald Trump.
00:36:25.000 And here's Cruz rightly smacking Donald Trump over his KKK refusal to disavow on Sunday and then his reversal on Monday, which was a reversal from his reversal on Friday.
00:36:35.000 Here's Cruz.
00:36:36.000 I thought it was very sad when Donald was asked about the KKK and asked about
00:36:42.000 David Duke, the former Grand Wizard of the KKK, endorsing him, that Donald was not willing to denounce the Klan.
00:36:49.000 I mean, this ought to be something that should be easy, that should bring all of us together.
00:36:53.000 The Klan is repugnant, racism and bigotry has no place in our society, and I thought it was disappointing that Donald was unwilling to say that when he was asked about it.
00:37:04.000 Now, Joe Scarborough also used that term, disqualifying on Morning Joe this morning.
00:37:08.000 That is, it's a very loaded term.
00:37:11.000 It means you can't be the nominee.
00:37:13.000 Do you agree with that?
00:37:15.000 Well, listen, I think that it is revealing of a willingness to traffic in some very ugly sentiments.
00:37:25.000 You know, there's also been robocalls that have been playing at early primary states of white nationalists.
00:37:33.000 Urging people to vote for Trump, and saying, don't vote for anyone who's Cuban.
00:37:40.000 And, you know, making very explicit appeals to racial and ethnic prejudice.
00:37:48.000 And, you know, Donald has not denounced those also.
00:37:51.000 Those have no place in politics.
00:37:53.000 And, you know, we've had seven years of President Obama dividing us on racial and ethnic lines.
00:37:59.000 The last thing we need is a president
00:38:02.000 Okay, so there's for whatever good it does, there's Cruz saying exactly the right thing about Donald Trump, and here's Marco Rubio doing the same thing going after Trump, saying a vote for Trump is a vote for Hillary.
00:38:25.000 Someone the other day said, you know, some of these people that are voting for Trump, they're so angry at government, they're so angry at our party.
00:38:31.000 Believe me, I am too.
00:38:32.000 Both Nikki and I were elected in 2010, when I ran against the establishment of my party.
00:38:39.000 But they said to me, this is like someone who marries someone their parents hate, just to get back at their parents.
00:38:46.000 And I said, yeah, but the difference is, if you get married to this guy, you can't get divorced for four years.
00:38:53.000 You gotta live with him for four years.
00:38:55.000 I don't know if America has four more years.
00:38:56.000 Not at the direction we're headed now.
00:38:57.000 Trying to convince Trump supporters not to vote for Trump, at least many of them, is like trying to convince a good friend of yours not to marry a stripper.
00:39:17.000 That's basically what it's like.
00:39:18.000 You can try, you can tell them it's a bad idea as much as you want, but you just have to.
00:39:22.000 I'm so in love, I'm just so in love.
00:39:25.000 Understand that with Trump comes a fair bit of philosophical venereal disease.
00:39:30.000 Okay, Trump is going to bring ideological syphilis to conservatism, and he's going to poison the Republican Party for years to come, and conservatism for years to come.
00:39:39.000 Okay, on that depressing note, time for some things that I like and then a couple of things that I hate.
00:39:43.000 So things that I like, this is actually my wife and I, this is our song.
00:39:48.000 This is John Denver's Annie song, which is a great song.
00:39:52.000 She's still frustrated with herself because when we were choosing our wedding song,
00:39:56.000 She didn't really know this song, and she didn't know how much she liked this song, and instead went with, like, Unchained Melody or something.
00:40:04.000 But this is the song that whenever we're, you know, sitting with the baby, and it's just a nice moment, this song kind of comes to mind.
00:40:14.000 John's Anvers Annie song.
00:40:15.000 Great song.
00:40:25.000 You fill up my senses Like a night in a forest Like the mountains in springtime Like a walk in the rain Like a storm in the desert Like a sleepy blue ocean
00:40:54.000 You fill up my senses.
00:40:59.000 Come fill me again.
00:41:03.000 All right, so it's great stuff.
00:41:05.000 It really is.
00:41:06.000 John Denver is a really good lyricist.
00:41:09.000 A lot of his stuff is really good.
00:41:10.000 Rocky Mountain High is a terrific song.
00:41:13.000 West Virginia is a great song.
00:41:16.000 John Denver is really good.
00:41:17.000 Okay, book recommendation.
00:41:18.000 A lot of people have read Orwell's 1984.
00:41:20.000 He actually wrote a book that's better.
00:41:22.000 It's called Farewell to Catalonia.
00:41:23.000 It's a non-fiction book and it's a memoir.
00:41:25.000 George Orwell actually went to Spain during the Spanish Civil War between the communists and the fascists, and he fought alongside the communists.
00:41:32.000 And the book is about how he comes to the realization that basically the communists are the fascists, that the communists are fascists and the fascists are fascists too, so it's fascists fighting fascists.
00:41:42.000 And it's really, it's a short book, it's about 200 pages, and it's really powerful, and it's really good.
00:41:48.000 I think it's better than 1984, which, 1984 is a great book, it's a little bit overlong.
00:41:52.000 Farewell to Catalonia is a really, really good book, so you should, you should pick that one up.
00:41:56.000 It sort of feels like we're living through the 30s right now, and between the people who are for authoritarian government, the big, strong man in government, and then on the other side, the people who are for a big, strong government that redistributes crap.
00:42:05.000 That's sort of how it feels.
00:42:07.000 And this is why we need a movement that actually stands for freedom.
00:42:10.000 Okay, quick thing I hate.
00:42:12.000 So, Hollywood made a big deal the other night about protesting sexual abuse.
00:42:16.000 You had Lady Gaga who, Jeremy Boring gets this exactly right.
00:42:20.000 Jeremy says that Lady Gaga doing her anti-sexual assault routine, she looked exactly like Meat Loaf.
00:42:27.000 And if you go and you view the videos back to back, maybe we'll pull it for tomorrow, Lady Gaga and Meat Loaf, identical.
00:42:32.000 They're the same thing.
00:42:34.000 But they made a huge deal out of it.
00:42:35.000 We're standing up for victims of sexual assault.
00:42:38.000 Well, yeah, Hollywood doesn't do that so much.
00:42:40.000 Mark Ruffalo, for example, he went over to outside a Catholic church in LA to protest sexual abuse, holding up pictures of sexual abuse victims, and he says, standing with the survivors of pre-sexual abuse.
00:42:51.000 Let's flashback, like,
00:42:54.000 13 years ago.
00:42:55.000 13 years ago.
00:42:56.000 So we're going back to 2003 now.
00:42:57.000 There's a movie called The Piano, and it was directed by Roman Polanski.
00:43:01.000 Roman Polanski is an expatriate.
00:43:02.000 He lives abroad now because he's under indictment in the United States.
00:43:05.000 He was convicted in absentia of raping a 14-year-old girl, and anally raping a 14-year-old girl.
00:43:11.000 He got her drunk, and he raped her.
00:43:13.000 Here is what happened in 2003 in the Best Director race.
00:43:16.000 These are the same people who are saying sexual abuse must be taken very, very seriously.
00:43:20.000 Look at the audience.
00:43:22.000 Well, actually, do we have tape of it?
00:43:24.000 No, we don't have tape of it.
00:43:25.000 If you go back and you watch the tape of it, if you go back and you watch the tape of Roman Polanski winning the Oscar in 2003, you'll see Harrison Ford announce that Roman Polanski has won the Oscar, and you will see that they give Roman Polanski a standing ovation.
00:43:38.000 A convicted rapist, a convicted child rapist, a standing ovation.
00:43:42.000 The hypocrisy of Hollywood knows no bounds, and this is just another sign that it's all about virtue signaling for the left.
00:43:47.000 They don't care about stopping actual rape.
00:43:49.000 They don't care about convicting rapists or keeping them in prison.
00:43:51.000 They don't care about any of those things.
00:43:53.000 The only thing that they truly, truly care about is feeling good about themselves, even as they promote policies that actually end in more rape and more sexual violence against women, including, by the way, the undermining of the notion that men ought to defend women.
00:44:06.000 Because if you tell men they ought not defend women, it turns out that men won't defend women.
00:44:09.000 And then, the only aggressive men in the game are the ones who actually want to harm women.
00:44:13.000 There's a reason why, you know, third world countries have high rates of rape, and that's because there aren't enough people defending women against the rapes.
00:44:20.000 In the United States, thank God, we've had a history of men defending against rape, but that's going away relatively quickly as we decide that masculinity is a secondary priority.
00:44:29.000 Okay, so all of that is unbelievably depressing.
00:44:32.000 And so now you need to go listen to Andrew Klaven's show.
00:44:33.000 I'm sure he'll give you a little bit of a pick-me-up.
00:44:35.000 And we'll be back here tomorrow, and we will, don't worry, we'll still be here.
00:44:40.000 The world will have survived.
00:44:41.000 I expect Donald Trump, my final prognosis, I expect that Donald Trump will win every state, every state outside of Texas, which is wildly depressing.
00:44:49.000 There is a glimmer of hope.
00:44:50.000 If Marco Rubio, believe it or not, if Marco Rubio loses Florida, the glimmer of hope is that Rubio sees the writing on the wall, gets out, and it turns into a Cruz versus Trump race.
00:44:58.000 Hopefully it's not too little too late by that point in the race, but...
00:45:01.000 Trump to Lenda Est.
00:45:03.000 Trump must be stopped.
00:45:04.000 So now's the time to stand up and now's the time to do it and bring on the hate mail gang and the hate tweets.
00:45:11.000 I've been doing it for weeks and I can handle a few more.
00:45:14.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:45:14.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
