The Ben Shapiro Show - Going Postal | Ep. 1075

00:00:00.000 The media and Democrats trot out a wild conspiracy theory about the US mail.

00:00:04.000 Joe Biden is still hiding in his basement.

00:00:06.000 And Kamala Harris just admitted how dishonest she is. 1.00

00:00:08.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:10.000 Today's show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.

00:00:18.000 Protect your data from prying eyes at expressvpn.com.

00:00:22.000 Well, I hope that you had a wonderful weekend.

00:00:24.000 I had a great weekend with my family.

00:00:26.000 Thank you for asking.

00:00:27.000 Except that part where we went down to Santa Monica, which has turned into a complete hellscape.

00:00:33.000 It's unbelievable.

00:00:34.000 I'll get to that a little bit later on in the program when we discuss the collapse of America's major cities, because it really is incredible.

00:00:39.000 I mean, this is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and it has basically been turned into a litter-heaped place where where drug addicted people scream at people in open air restaurants.

00:00:50.000 It's really pretty incredible.

00:00:51.000 I'll get to that in a little while.

00:00:52.000 First, let's talk about the fact that the national race is now seeming to tighten just a little bit according to certain polls.

00:00:59.000 So there's a one outlier poll.

00:01:01.000 It is from CNN.

00:01:02.000 And this outlier poll shows Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by just four points, 50 to 46, which would put Trump well within striking distance of winning the presidency again.

00:01:11.000 The same poll shows that in the 15 battleground states, Joe Biden and Donald Trump are in a dead heat, 49, 48 Biden.

00:01:17.000 Well, those are the numbers that Trump has to be looking for.

00:01:20.000 It means that the race has not actually widened in the aftermath of Joe Biden picking Kamala Harris.

00:01:24.000 He may have, in fact, hit his high watermark.

00:01:26.000 And that is not unusual in presidential races when you hit the conventions, when people select their running mates, that's usually when you get the biggest boost.

00:01:32.000 Now, the thing is that Biden was actually running pretty well ahead of Donald Trump before he picked Kamala Harris.

00:01:38.000 Then he picked Kamala Harris. 1.00

00:01:39.000 And it seems like at the very least, things have not gotten wider against Donald Trump.

00:01:43.000 So she really has not given the boost that he was sort of looking for.

00:01:47.000 And that is not particularly surprising because, again, she wasn't a surprise candidate.

00:01:50.000 There's not a lot of enthusiasm behind her, despite the media's attempts to trot out enthusiasm for her.

00:01:55.000 So now, they're looking for another story, because Kamala Harris ain't gonna do it. 1.00

00:01:58.000 Kamala Harris is not going to be the story that puts Joe Biden over the top.

00:02:01.000 She's an utterly charmless politician, as revealed by the fact that she had a year-long campaign that resulted in a complete dud, forcing her out of the race before the first primary. 1.00

00:02:10.000 She left so she wouldn't get humiliated in her home state of California.

00:02:14.000 Kamala Harris was a failure of a candidate on every level, and then he plucked her from kind of mid-obscurity again, and then made her the VP candidate. 0.97

00:02:21.000 That's not going to be enough to drive people to the polls in any sort of massive numbers.

00:02:25.000 So what we need from now until the election, if you're a Democrat, is you need a bunch of Trumpian scandals.

00:02:30.000 So the Democrats have settled on their one scandal that's the permanent scandal, and then they're going to go for a bunch of little scandals.

00:02:35.000 The permanent scandal is COVID.

00:02:37.000 COVID is always going to be the narrative from now up until the election, up until Joe Biden enters office, at which point presumably the story will largely dissipate.

00:02:44.000 But for now, the story is going to be Joe Biden would have handled this completely differently.

00:02:49.000 No, nobody can explain how.

00:02:49.000 Can you explain how?

00:02:51.000 Joe Biden says that he would have pushed for a national mask mandate for which he has no constitutional authority.

00:02:55.000 He would have told governors to tell people to mask up, which would have had no impact whatsoever.

00:03:00.000 It's unclear in the extreme what exactly Joe Biden would have done differently.

00:03:03.000 from Donald Trump.

00:03:04.000 Not to say that Trump hasn't made mistakes, but there's very little evidence to the effect that Joe Biden's handling of COVID would have been wildly different from Donald Trump's because, frankly, everybody has gotten this thing wrong.

00:03:14.000 It's very difficult to point to nations that did it completely right that were heavy hit at the beginning.

00:03:19.000 And that's the real distinction.

00:03:20.000 If you look at COVID, it never really hit Germany all that hard.

00:03:22.000 It did hit Italy very hard.

00:03:23.000 It hit Spain very hard.

00:03:24.000 It hit the UK very hard.

00:03:26.000 All of those countries have very disparate leaders, have very disparate medical programs and all of them got absolutely walloped.

00:03:32.000 So the idea that Trump is the big mistake with COVID, that Trump really blew COVID on a major level.

00:03:36.000 Meanwhile, Andrew Cuomo was doing a great job over in New York.

00:03:39.000 It's unsustainable, but that is going to be the Democrat talking points.

00:03:42.000 And if COVID remains front of mind up till the election.

00:03:45.000 That's got a good shot of driving Biden into the Oval Office.

00:03:48.000 But even that is not enough because Democrats know that things could shift, right?

00:03:52.000 What we could see over the course of the next few months is that it's possible that COVID burned its way through New York and New Jersey already.

00:03:58.000 And it's not like there's a huge vulnerable population that hasn't already been hit by COVID.

00:04:03.000 It's possible that the wave that we just saw hitting the southern states, that that actually ends up being kind of it.

00:04:09.000 We just don't know the answer.

00:04:11.000 In risk-averse fashion, Democrats are putting their eggs in a bunch of different baskets.

00:04:14.000 So the scandal du jour, the scandal of the day, is that Donald Trump hates the mailboxes.

00:04:19.000 He hates the mailboxes.

00:04:21.000 Now, you're saying to yourself, what?

00:04:24.000 And also, what?

00:04:26.000 So Donald Trump has been saying for months that he does not like the idea of universal mail-in voting, which is correct. 1.00

00:04:32.000 I mean, universal mail-in voting is a very bad idea.

00:04:34.000 The reason universal mail-in voting is a very bad idea is because, essentially, there are two problems.

00:04:38.000 One, The deadlines for the post office do not meet with the deadline of the election.

00:04:44.000 The U.S.

00:04:44.000 Postal Service actually put out a letter about this in July of 2020.

00:04:48.000 This was a letter put out Is a long letter, actually, put out by the Postal Service talking about all of the problems that they have with the deadlines for mailing ballots.

00:05:00.000 Here is a little bit of that letter from Thomas Marshall, who is the General Counsel for the U.S.

00:05:05.000 Postal Service, and he sends it to a bunch of different state election commissions.

00:05:08.000 Said, with the 2020 general election rapidly approaching, this letter follows up on my letter dated May 29th, 2020.

00:05:13.000 That letter highlighted some key aspects of the Postal Service's delivery processes.

00:05:18.000 The purpose of this letter is to focus specifically on the deadlines for requesting and casting ballots by mail.

00:05:22.000 In particular, we wanted to note that under our reading of South Carolina's election laws, certain deadlines for requesting and casting mail-in ballots are incongruous with the Postal Service's delivery standards.

00:05:31.000 This mismatch creates a risk that ballots requested near the deadline under state law will not be returned by mail in time to be counted under your laws as we understand them.

00:05:39.000 As I stated, the two main classes of mail that are used for ballots are first-class mail and USPS marketing mail, the latter of which includes the non-profit postage rate.

00:05:46.000 Voters must use first-class mail to mail their ballots and ballot requests, while state or local election officials may generally use either first-class mail or marketing mail to mail blank ballots to voters.

00:05:55.000 While the specific transit times for either class of mail cannot be guaranteed and depend on factors such as a given mail piece's place of origin and destination, most domestic first-class mail is delivered 2-5 days after it is received by the Postal Service, and most domestic marketing mail is delivered 3-10 days after it is received.

00:06:12.000 Well, that means that you need to really submit your ballot 15 days before the election at a minimum if you want it to be counted, right?

00:06:18.000 And this is what the Postal Service is literally telling various election officials all over the country as of July.

00:06:23.000 Where voters will receive and send a ballot by mail, voters should submit their ballot request early enough so it is received by election officials at least 15 days before election day at a minimum, and preferably long before that.

00:06:34.000 In responding to a ballot request, election officials should consider that the ballot needs to be in the hands of the voter so that he or she has adequate time to complete it and put it back in the mail so that it can be processed and delivered by the applicable deadline.

00:06:45.000 Accordingly, the Postal Service recommends that election officials use first-class mail to transmit blank ballots and allow one week for delivery to voters.

00:06:53.000 To allow enough time for ballots to be returned to election officials, domestic voters should generally mail their completed ballots at least one week before the state's due date.

00:07:00.000 So if the state law requires ballots to be returned by Election Day, voters should mail their ballots no later than Tuesday, October 27.

00:07:06.000 But the problem is that a lot of state requirements are incompatible with the Postal Service's delivery standards.

00:07:11.000 For example, they'll say that you have to mail the thing four days before the election, but if it takes seven days for it to arrive, it's going to arrive three days after the election, which is a complete mess.

00:07:20.000 And it doesn't just depend on when it is postmarked.

00:07:23.000 It depends on when it arrives.

00:07:24.000 So theoretically, you could get a ballot two weeks after the election.

00:07:27.000 Nobody's going to know what the hell is going on.

00:07:29.000 According to the general counsel for the post office, it appears a completed ballot must be received by election day to be counted.

00:07:34.000 If that understanding is correct, we accordingly recommend that voters who choose to mail their ballots do so no later than Tuesday, October 27th.

00:07:41.000 However, it further appears this is the South Carolina standard, which is very similar to a lot of standards around the country.

00:07:46.000 It further appears that state law generally permits voters to request a ballot as late as four days before the election.

00:07:52.000 If a voter submits such a request at or near that deadline, and if the requested ballot is transmitted to the voter by mail, there's a significant risk the ballot will not reach the voter before election day, and that the voter will not be able to use the ballot to cast his or her vote.

00:08:04.000 Which means that you may end up with a situation where the election actually happens, people submit a ballot after the actual election, and then they claim that their right to vote has been compromised because they abided by the applicable law, and it's the postal service's fault.

00:08:18.000 Okay, so that is problem number one.

00:08:20.000 With universal mail-in balloting.

00:08:26.000 So, ballot harvesting is the practice whereby you deploy a bunch of Republican operatives, for example, to suburbs, knowing who is registered Republican, and these are all people who have a ballot that's just sitting in their house, and then you stand at the door and you tell them that you want them to vote for Republicans.

00:08:41.000 Or if you're a Democrat, you do the same thing.

00:08:43.000 What this ends up with is not really equal access to the ballot box.

00:08:46.000 What it really ends up being is who gets reminded by the party to vote in time to hand the ballots to some party operative.

00:08:53.000 And that is not even assuming that the party operative then goes into their car, goes in the backseat and starts punching out the chads, right?

00:08:58.000 So there's all sorts of potential for, at the very least, forget the fraud for a second, for absolute confusion, for a complete mess.

00:09:04.000 And we have seen cases in which Voter confusion or vote tally problems have been a real issue.

00:09:11.000 There's a Washington state gubernatorial race between Dino Rossi and I think it was Christine Guaguar going all the way back in which the Republican appeared to be one and appeared to win.

00:09:20.000 And then there are all sorts of balloting problems.

00:09:22.000 And the Democrat ended up grabbing the gubernatorial seat in Washington state.

00:09:26.000 We've seen this with Norm Coleman and Al Franken, where Norm Coleman won a Senate seat, and then Al Franken, they discovered magically, well after the election, a box of ballots all marked for Al Franken.

00:09:34.000 And boom, Al Franken was not only in the Senate, he was the final vote for Obamacare.

00:09:37.000 So, we've seen this sort of stuff happen before.

00:09:39.000 In New York right now, there's a state congressional race in which ballots are still being tabulated two and a half weeks after the election.

00:09:46.000 Right, so this thing is a complete mess.

00:09:47.000 And when Trump says he's not in favor of universal mail-in balloting, he is correct. 0.99

00:09:50.000 There's a difference between absentee balloting, this is you say that you are looking for a ballot, so you send in a form to the state requesting the ballot, it comes to you, and then you vote.

00:09:59.000 There's a difference between that and the state simply sending out actual ballots to everyone, which is another potential for voter fraud because it turns out that the state's rolls are usually filled with dead people, people who have moved, people who no longer live there.

00:10:12.000 And so you got a bunch of ballots floating around that have your name on them.

00:10:16.000 And that literally you have nothing, you're not even there, you're not even in your house.

00:10:20.000 So there is a real potential for vote manipulation, for voter fraud, right?

00:10:24.000 All of those are serious and real concerns.

00:10:26.000 All of those are serious and real concerns.

00:10:28.000 Democrats have decided that the Trump administration is seeking to defund the US Postal Service in order to prevent people from mailing in their ballots.

00:10:36.000 In a second, I'm gonna get to why they think that, what President Trump did to exacerbate this, I mean, it really is.

00:10:42.000 And this has led to some unbelievably conspiratorial talk about all of this.

00:10:46.000 We're going to get to it in just one second.

00:10:47.000 First, you should care about encrypting your data.

00:10:50.000 Well, it's often easy for a hacker to bypass Wi-Fi security and steal your information by exploiting flaws like crack.

00:10:50.000 Why?

00:10:55.000 That's crack with a K.

00:10:56.000 In case you want to Google it.

00:10:57.000 That's why I use ExpressVPN to stay secure online.

00:11:00.000 It's hard to know whether your device or network is vulnerable if you ever use Wi-Fi at a hotel or a shopping mall or a coffee house.

00:11:05.000 You're sending data over an open network, which means no encryption at all.

00:11:08.000 The best way to ensure your data is encrypted and cannot be read by hackers is to use ExpressVPN.

00:11:13.000 Just download the ExpressVPN app on your computer or smartphone, tap one button to secure 100% of your network data, and then use the internet just the way you normally would.

00:11:21.000 ExpressVPN is really reliable.

00:11:23.000 It's the fastest VPN service that I have personally tried.

00:11:25.000 They're also rated the number one VPN provider by review sites like TechRadar and CNET.

00:11:29.000 There's really no reason to leave your information exposed to hackers and also to social media companies who just want to make a buck off of you.

00:11:35.000 If you want the best in online security and privacy protection, head on over to expressvpn.com slash ben for three extra months free with a one-year package.

00:11:42.000 Protect your internet today with the VPN I trust to keep my data safe.

00:11:46.000 Go to expressvpn.com slash ben to get started.

00:11:48.000 Again, that's expressvpn.com slash ben to get started.

00:11:52.000 Expressvpn.com slash ben to get three extra months for free with a one-year package.

00:12:00.000 The universal mail-in balloting point is one that is fairly compelling, right?

00:12:05.000 The idea that the postal service is not capable of doing this, that the deadlines don't match up, that there's the potential for not only voter fraud, but extraordinary voter confusion, because when exactly are the votes actually going to be tabulated?

00:12:16.000 When exactly are the votes going to come in?

00:12:19.000 This was admitted by Chris Wallace over the weekend on Fox News.

00:12:21.000 He said, you know, Trump kind of has a point on this universal mail-in balloting stuff.

00:12:26.000 I know the Democrats say that President Trump is trying to block mail-in voting and trying to block billions of dollars more for the Postal Service in order to suppress voting in this election.

00:12:40.000 Hear me out for a minute.

00:12:41.000 Isn't it possible that the president really has a point here?

00:12:44.000 As I mentioned earlier, there were 33 million either absentee or mail-in ballots in 2016.

00:12:50.000 If we have double that, or triple that, isn't there a pretty good chance that we will have a mess at the least, and yes, possibly fraud?

00:12:59.000 Okay, and that's exactly right.

00:13:01.000 Of course, Mark Meadows, who's the President's Chief of Staff, he came on television over the weekend.

00:13:05.000 He also said, he was talking with Jake Tapper on CNN's State of the Union, that Trump opposes universal mail-in voting.

00:13:10.000 Here's Mark Meadows explaining.

00:13:13.000 The president doesn't have a problem with anybody voting by mail.

00:13:16.000 If you would look at it in terms of maybe a no-excuse absentee ballot, what he opposes is universal mail-in ballots, where you send millions of ballots out to registered voters across the country, even those that don't request it.

00:13:32.000 You know, I've worked a number of times at a precinct, and I know how those rolls are not accurate.

00:13:39.000 Okay, so all of this is true.

00:13:40.000 Jake Tapper, for his part, he's been promoting... Jake's a good reporter generally, I think.

00:13:45.000 But there's been problems in the media.

00:13:47.000 The media keeps saying things like, there's no evidence of voter fraud.

00:13:50.000 Okay, first of all, there is some evidence of voter fraud.

00:13:52.000 In fact, there's a pretty high-profile voter fraud case.

00:13:54.000 I believe it was in North Carolina with an actual Republican congressperson almost stealing a seat.

00:13:59.000 I mean, it was the basic accusation.

00:14:02.000 As I say, there have certainly been voter confusion issues.

00:14:04.000 There's one going on in New York State right now.

00:14:05.000 Here is Jake Tapper maintaining that there's no widespread evidence of voter fraud.

00:14:08.000 So what are we worried about?

00:14:09.000 200 million people voting by absentee ballot.

00:14:12.000 I mean, that is not a good argument.

00:14:15.000 Do you realize how inaccurate the voter rolls are, which is people just moving around, let alone the people that die off, but sending ballots out just based on a voter roll registration.

00:14:27.000 Anytime you move, you'll change your driver's license, but you don't call up and say, hey, by the way, I'm re-registered.

00:14:31.000 There's no evidence of widespread voter fraud, though.

00:14:34.000 But there's no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

00:14:37.000 There's no evidence that there's not either.

00:14:39.000 That's the definition of fraud, Jake.

00:14:42.000 OK, and people were mocking Meadows for saying there's no evidence that there's not either.

00:14:45.000 Well, I mean, there is evidence of voter fraud.

00:14:47.000 I mean, the DOJ has been prosecuting it.

00:14:49.000 There have been a few cases of it.

00:14:50.000 And as I say, we've seen some pretty significant voter, if not fraud, then significant fraud.

00:14:56.000 Voter confusion?

00:14:57.000 I would say outcome confusion in a variety of races, all of which prompted President Trump to tweet over the weekend.

00:15:03.000 Elizabeth Harrington from the RNC, she tweeted after what happened in Paterson, 20% of ballots thrown out, ballots stolen out of mailboxes, dead people voting.

00:15:10.000 What Democrats are doing in New Jersey is fraud.

00:15:12.000 They know it will be a disaster.

00:15:13.000 They know it will weaken confidence.

00:15:14.000 They're doing it anyway.

00:15:15.000 And President Trump tweeted out, the Democrats know the 2020 election will be a fraudulent mess.

00:15:19.000 We'll maybe never know who won.

00:15:20.000 Okay, so he's being ripped up and down for this.

00:15:22.000 He's undermining the credibility of our elections.

00:15:24.000 No, one way that you don't undermine the credibility of elections is through universal mail-in voting.

00:15:28.000 Okay, so this crosses stream, this argument about universal mail-in voting and its propriety in a time of COVID and whether it's necessary.

00:15:34.000 By the way, the answer is it's not necessary.

00:15:36.000 Anthony Fauci says, if you are able to go to the grocery store, you're able to vote.

00:15:39.000 Okay, which is a fair argument from Anthony Fauci, right?

00:15:42.000 They've got the vote of candles for Anthony Fauci, the greatest of all advisors on COVID.

00:15:45.000 People have been going to the grocery store.

00:15:48.000 People have been going out to stores to buy things.

00:15:50.000 The retail sector is actually up now from where it was just a few months ago.

00:15:54.000 There was widespread voting in Wisconsin in a primary.

00:15:58.000 It didn't create an uptick in COVID.

00:16:00.000 People can vote.

00:16:01.000 You can vote in person.

00:16:02.000 You just socially distance.

00:16:03.000 It's not that big a deal.

00:16:04.000 The idea that you have to vote from home because of COVID is not backed by the health policy of the United States.

00:16:11.000 Nonetheless, this is being pushed forward by Democrats because they feel that their advantage is, in fact, in mass Mail-in voting as well as in massive ballot gathering by their various apparatchiks around the United States.

00:16:23.000 So this has crossed stream with a second debate that is happening and that's about the funding of the Postal Service.

00:16:27.000 and you have to understand this argument, which we'll get to in just one second, to understand the quote-unquote scandal that is now emerging, which is a false scandal, it's not real.

00:16:35.000 We're gonna get to it in just one second.

00:16:36.000 First, let us talk about something really important, your sleep quality.

00:16:40.000 So, you may think about your mattress.

00:16:41.000 We've talked about mattresses before on the show.

00:16:43.000 You may think about the quality of your air conditioning, you may think about a lot of, but you never think about your sheets.

00:16:48.000 You should think about your sheets, because a nice pair of sheets really is gonna make your sleeping experience so much better.

00:16:54.000 And you think, okay, I'm just gonna go pick out the one that has the highest thread counts.

00:16:57.000 Do you even know what a thread count is?

00:16:58.000 Do you even thread count, bro?

00:17:00.000 Like, it doesn't... The thread count is not what defines whether a sheet is comfortable or not.

00:17:03.000 You know what defines whether a sheet is comfortable?

00:17:05.000 I'll tell you the easy answer.

00:17:06.000 Does it have Bull and Branch on the branding?

00:17:08.000 Because Bull and Branch is the... And I can testify to this.

00:17:10.000 I use Bull and Branch sheets.

00:17:11.000 They are fantastic.

00:17:12.000 Millions of Americans and three former U.S.

00:17:14.000 presidents know that Bull and Branch sheets are the softest, most comfortable, pure organic cotton sheets on Earth.

00:17:19.000 Bullenbranch cotton is rain-fed, pesticide-free, carries the highest organic certification, which is why it is so soft.

00:17:25.000 Because they work with family-owned mills all over the world to expertly weave every set of Bullenbranch sheets.

00:17:29.000 With the highest level of craftsmanship, it's quality you can feel the moment you open the box.

00:17:33.000 And since they sell direct to you, Bullenbranch sheets start at just $160.

00:17:37.000 These are $1,000 quality sheets for a fraction of the price.

00:17:40.000 Plus, you can sleep on them for a month risk-free.

00:17:42.000 And right now, you get $50 off any sheet set Okay, so, you have two issues with the mail.

00:17:46.000 One is universal mail-in voting.

00:17:48.000 The second is the funding of the post office.

00:17:50.000 code Ben Shapiro for 50 bucks off.

00:17:52.000 Bull and branch.com promo code Ben Shapiro.

00:17:54.000 Restrictions may apply.

00:17:55.000 See Bull and branch.com for details.

00:17:57.000 Go check them out right now.

00:17:58.000 OK, so you have two issues with the mail.

00:18:00.000 One is universal mail in voting.

00:18:02.000 The second is the funding of the post office.

00:18:04.000 So when it comes to universal mail in voting, at least 77% of American voters can cast ballots by mail in the fall.

00:18:12.000 51 million Americans will have a ballot automatically That includes states like Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado.

00:18:21.000 And then there are states where you can vote by mail, which is pretty much all the states.

00:18:25.000 And then there are a few states where you need an excuse beyond just you're scared of COVID-19 in order to request an absentee ballot, which makes more sense, right?

00:18:31.000 You actually have to show why you can't go down to a voting booth.

00:18:33.000 That would be like Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, New York, for example, has that same rule.

00:18:38.000 Okay, so 77 million Americans can vote.

00:18:41.000 Well, 77% of all Americans can cast ballots in the fall.

00:18:43.000 This could be a complete cluster act.

00:18:45.000 I mean, it could be a complete mess.

00:18:46.000 And as the USPS says, right, state standards do not meet with how the USPS actually works.

00:18:51.000 They do not meet with the actual standards by which the US Postal Service carries the mail.

00:18:57.000 Okay, so this crosses streams with a second argument that's been happening right now over this new sort of They're calling it a stimulus package.

00:19:07.000 It's not really a stimulus package.

00:19:09.000 The new sort of fill-in-the-gap-for-COVID package that is happening right now.

00:19:13.000 And that is the Democrats have been asking for billions upon billions upon billions of dollars to bail out the Postal Service.

00:19:18.000 And they've been claiming that if Republicans do not want to bail out the Postal Service, it's because they're trying to undermine the election. 0.99

00:19:23.000 And this is just sheer crap. 0.97

00:19:24.000 It is just not true at all. 0.99

00:19:26.000 It is just not real.

00:19:27.000 The U.S.

00:19:27.000 Postal Service has been losing money for years.

00:19:30.000 And I mean like 13 straight years as of 2019.

00:19:34.000 They lost $8.8 billion in fiscal year 2019 before COVID.

00:19:38.000 That was more than double its annual loss for fiscal year 2018.

00:19:41.000 That was the largest loss on record to that point.

00:19:43.000 It marked the 13th consecutive year the U.S.

00:19:45.000 Postal Service finished in the red.

00:19:48.000 According to the National Taxpayer Union, the latest U.S.

00:19:50.000 Postal Service fiscal report details yet another deep year in the hole and brings the service's total losses to a staggering $75 billion since 2007.

00:19:58.000 It's crystal clear if this were a business competing in the private market, it would have gone bankrupt many years ago.

00:20:02.000 Thanks to government-guaranteed lines of business and the ability to default on obligations with little consequence, the service has managed to limp along.

00:20:08.000 Taxpayers beware, you're next in line to cover USPS's shortfalls.

00:20:12.000 And the reason that the US Postal Service has shortfalls is really not even because of the mail.

00:20:16.000 It's because of the benefits that they are paying out to the US Postal Service Union.

00:20:20.000 That's really the rationale for why exactly they've been going bankrupt for years or would be going bankrupt in a normal world.

00:20:28.000 So there are problems with the U.S.

00:20:29.000 Postal Service model, namely that you're spending the same amount of money to send a piece of mail to an outlying area as to not an outlying area.

00:20:34.000 Two, the Postal Service basically is only being paid by Amazon at this point.

00:20:38.000 People just don't send lots of mail.

00:20:40.000 They don't send lots of packages.

00:20:41.000 This has been true for literally years.

00:20:42.000 Before Amazon started sending tons of packages, the Postal Service was basically relegated to sending, like, junk ads to your grandmother.

00:20:50.000 I mean, that's what the Postal Service was basically for.

00:20:54.000 According to ThoughtCo.com, the Postal Service carried billion-dollar surpluses for many years before the Internet became widely available to Americans.

00:21:00.000 Once the Internet became available and you started sending email, as opposed to sending, you know, actual mail-mail, then the Postal Service immediately tanked.

00:21:07.000 Although the Postal Service lost money in the early part of the 2000s, in 2001 and 2003, the most significant losses came after the passage of a 2006 law requiring the agency to refund retiree health benefits.

00:21:19.000 Under the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006, the U.S.

00:21:22.000 Postal Service is required to pay $5.4 billion to $5.8 billion annually through 2016 to pay for future retiree health benefits.

00:21:29.000 And it has to be pay-go, right?

00:21:30.000 You pay as you go.

00:21:31.000 That means that they have to pay into the U.S.

00:21:33.000 Postal Service unions.

00:21:34.000 That's really what has been driving the post office bankrupt for quite a long time.

00:21:39.000 The USPS is an independent agency, but because they've been running in the red for years and years and years, they keep going back to Congress for more and more money.

00:21:48.000 Now, here's the reality.

00:21:49.000 The U.S.

00:21:49.000 Postal Service is in financial distress.

00:21:51.000 It is not going to be insolvent before the 2020 election.

00:21:54.000 According to a good article by Nick Harper over at Medium, it's actually looking at insolvency by like 2021.

00:22:01.000 COVID-19 has really exacerbated a lot of the issues for the U.S.

00:22:05.000 Postal Service because mail volume has dropped pretty precipitously and expenses for things like PPE increased.

00:22:11.000 Actually, the heavier the package, the more the postal service loses on it.

00:22:13.000 They make money, basically, on the very light mail.

00:22:15.000 On heavy mail, they lose a lot of money, right?

00:22:17.000 When you send media mailboxes, it doesn't cost you a lot of money.

00:22:20.000 USPS had a $50 billion emergency funding and the authority to borrow another 25 billion bucks from the treasury.

00:22:26.000 USPS estimated in the spring they'd have an estimated $13 billion budget shortfall compared to $9 billion in fiscal year 2019.

00:22:33.000 But they have sufficient liquidity according to USPS to continue operating through at least August, 2021.

00:22:39.000 So they are not in fact in trouble to the extent that they will not be able to operate before the election.

00:22:46.000 Right, so the basic idea that if you defund the post office or if you don't fund the post office, which should be running independently, that if you don't do that, the elections will just be skewed.

00:22:53.000 It's not true.

00:22:54.000 It's not true on just a raw level.

00:22:55.000 They have the money to run through 2021.

00:22:58.000 And all of the stuff that they have been doing is really about, like, you're seeing a lot of stories about the postal service and shifting around mailboxes and changing mail machines.

00:23:07.000 All that crap is because nobody is sending mail.

00:23:09.000 They are deactivating machines that nobody is using. 0.94

00:23:12.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.

00:23:13.000 Then we'll get to the conspiracy theory that's being built up by Democratic politicians and the media. 1.00

00:23:17.000 And then President Trump saying stupid crap about it, which exacerbates the problem. 1.00

00:23:20.000 We'll get to that in just one second. 1.00

00:23:22.000 When you are running a business, HR issues can absolutely kill you.

00:24:28.000 Go check them out right now.

00:24:30.000 Okay, so.

00:24:32.000 Also, when we talk about the postal service, it is important to note that the reason that people have been deactivating particular machines has nothing to do with mail-in voting.

00:24:41.000 It has to do with the fact that the kinds of machines that are generally used for envelopes are not being as frequently utilized as the kinds that are being used for packages, for example.

00:24:50.000 The San Francisco Chronicle reported on August 31st of 2011, for example, that when mailboxes are not being used, they simply are deactivated.

00:24:59.000 This is the San Francisco Chronicle, 2011.

00:25:02.000 Because of steeply declining use, the U.S.

00:25:04.000 Postal Service has removed more than 60% of the blue boxes once common on the American streetscape as lampposts and ice cream trucks.

00:25:11.000 Nothing says you're on an American street more than a blue mailbox, says Nancy Postal Historian at the Smithsonian.

00:25:16.000 When you take this away, something is lost.

00:25:18.000 But!

00:25:19.000 In 1985, there were 400,000 blue mailboxes on American streets.

00:25:22.000 By 2011, there were 160,000.

00:25:24.000 More vanishing every day.

00:25:26.000 Why?

00:25:26.000 Because people weren't using them!

00:25:28.000 And because of the internet.

00:25:30.000 This has been true for a very long time.

00:25:32.000 It's been true that when the Postal Service is not using particular types of machine, they've been shutting down those types of machine.

00:25:40.000 So, several things can be true at once.

00:25:42.000 The Postal Service has been a disaster for a very long time.

00:25:45.000 It does not run at a profit.

00:25:46.000 It does not run like a normal business would.

00:25:48.000 It pays way too high fees in terms of union fees.

00:25:51.000 Public sector unions negotiating really bad contracts with the U.S.

00:25:54.000 Postal Service and then looking for bailouts from the American taxpayer.

00:25:58.000 The internet killed it.

00:25:59.000 FedEx runs at a profit.

00:26:00.000 UPS runs at a profit.

00:26:02.000 U.S.

00:26:02.000 Postal Service has long been running at a non-profit.

00:26:05.000 It is also true that they've been experiencing significant hardship in the middle of COVID because mail volume dropped dramatically, except for things like PPE and some of the Amazon packages.

00:26:13.000 Okay, so, when the Republicans say, listen, we're not bailing out the U.S.

00:26:17.000 Postal Service because it needs to get its house in order, there's nothing wrong with that.

00:26:21.000 That makes perfect sense.

00:26:22.000 It's been losing money year on year for 14 straight years.

00:26:23.000 14 straight years.

00:26:26.000 But the Democrats have a theory.

00:26:28.000 And their theory is that the reason that Republicans don't want to fund the U.S.

00:26:31.000 Postal Service to the tune of something like $50 billion, the reason they don't want to do that is because they're trying to undermine the election.

00:26:36.000 Now, as I've already explained, that is simply not true.

00:26:39.000 The U.S.

00:26:39.000 Postal Service has the funding, the liquidity, to get through 2020.

00:26:42.000 So it shouldn't have any impact on, no matter what kind of funding you provide to them right now, it's going to have no impact on the election.

00:26:48.000 The real problem for the Postal Service is that their turnaround time is too long for the state regulations as to when you can send in your absentee or mail-in ballots.

00:26:56.000 Okay, so the scandal is a nothing.

00:26:57.000 It's a complete nothing burger.

00:26:58.000 It doesn't matter.

00:26:59.000 The media have decided that President Trump is deliberately trying to kneecap the U.S.

00:27:04.000 Postal Service to prevent people from voting.

00:27:06.000 Okay, so it's really funny.

00:27:07.000 Trump is undermining the integrity of the elections because he says things like, if you have universal mail-in balloting, there's going to be a lot of confusion and possibility of fraud.

00:27:14.000 Very bad.

00:27:15.000 He's not allowed to say that.

00:27:15.000 Super, super bad.

00:27:17.000 The Republicans don't want to fund the U.S.

00:27:18.000 Postal Service because it's a bankrupt enterprise and has been for literally a decade.

00:27:23.000 And Democrats in the media claim that there will not be able to be an honest election now.

00:27:27.000 Barack Obama trotted that one out yesterday.

00:27:29.000 Here's Barack Obama over the weekend saying Trump is deliberately trying to kneecap the U.S.

00:27:33.000 Postal Service.

00:27:35.000 What we've seen in a way that is unique to modern political history is a president who's explicit in trying to discourage people from voting.

00:27:47.000 What we've never seen before is A president say, I'm going to try to actively kneecap the Postal Service to encourage voting, and I will be explicit about the reason I'm doing it.

00:28:00.000 That's sort of unheard of.

00:28:02.000 Okay, so there's Barack Obama throwing out the conspiracy theory.

00:28:05.000 The conspiracy theory is that the U.S.

00:28:07.000 Postal Service is being not properly funded so that we can stop people from voting.

00:28:12.000 Okay, and this has gained tremendous currency on the left.

00:28:15.000 Like, a lot of currency on the left.

00:28:16.000 Carl Bernstein of Woodward and Bernstein fame.

00:28:18.000 Like, it would be great if he did something since Watergate instead of writing kind of gossipy books from the White House, which is really what he does.

00:28:23.000 He suggested that Trump is a racist trying to undermine the election.

00:28:26.000 It's racist now to say you don't want to fund the U.S.

00:28:28.000 Postal Service.

00:28:30.000 The Voting Rights Act was passed because of great Republicans, the party of Lincoln, not the party of segregation, not the party of exclusion.

00:28:40.000 Today, the Republican Party is returning to the old Southern segregationist Democratic Party by allowing this president of the United States, a racist president with a racist appeal.

00:28:54.000 Oh, come on. 0.98

00:28:58.000 I mean, I'm sorry, this is just pure, absolute nonsense.

00:29:06.000 Rex Chapman, the former guard in the NBA, played, I believe, for the Phoenix Suns, was fun to watch.

00:29:12.000 He's kind of an interesting follow on Twitter.

00:29:14.000 He's far to the left, obviously.

00:29:15.000 He tweeted out yesterday a picture from Burbank, right, which is right next door to where we are.

00:29:21.000 And it was just a picture of mailboxes with these red locks on them.

00:29:24.000 It said, Burbank, California.

00:29:25.000 In your entire life, have you ever seen a locked mailbox at the USPS?

00:29:28.000 Now you have.

00:29:29.000 A disgrace, an immediate threat to American democracy.

00:29:31.000 Shame on them.

00:29:33.000 Shame on the GOP.

00:29:34.000 Where are you, Senate Majority Leader? 0.98

00:29:38.000 Actually, yes, I have seen locks on postal service boxes because people steal crap out of them.

00:29:43.000 And also people were not using them.

00:29:45.000 And as it turns out, this has been common practice in the United States for literally decades.

00:29:48.000 So we're just making things up now.

00:29:51.000 No, no, no.

00:29:51.000 This is just a giant, weird conspiracy theory that you now have about how we are undermining the U.S.

00:29:54.000 mailboxes on the back.

00:29:55.000 She's like, they're removing the mailboxes.

00:29:57.000 They're stopping people from voting by removing the mailbox.

00:30:00.000 No, no, no.

00:30:01.000 This is just a giant weird conspiracy theory that you now have about how we are undermining US Postal Service to stop mail-in voting. 1.00

00:30:08.000 Now, you know what doesn't help is when President Trump says stupid crap. 1.00

00:30:11.000 So last week, President Trump lent credibility. 1.00

00:30:13.000 Like, literally, this was fact-checked, okay?

00:30:15.000 So Snopes, factcheck.org, even the left-wing fact-checkers were like, this is nonsense.

00:30:19.000 Then Trump goes out there last week, and he's like, you know, if you don't fund the Postal Service, maybe people can't do mail-in voting.

00:30:23.000 It's like, oh God, what are you doing?

00:30:26.000 It's not even true.

00:30:27.000 It's like you watch what the Democrats say, and then you just say the reverse to troll them.

00:30:30.000 Which may in fact be what he's doing here.

00:30:32.000 Whatever it is, it ain't good.

00:30:33.000 Here was Trump last week giving credibility to a theory that literally has no evidence to back it other than Trump saying silly things on Fox.

00:30:47.000 Universal mail-in ballots.

00:30:50.000 They want $25 billion for the post office.

00:30:54.000 Now, they need that money in order to have the post office work so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. 0.56

00:31:00.000 Now, in the meantime, they aren't getting there.

00:31:04.000 By the way, those are just two items.

00:31:06.000 But if they don't get those two items, that means you can't have universal Mail-in voting, because they're not equipped to have it.

00:31:13.000 Yeah, that is not, it's not even true.

00:31:14.000 Okay, the funding has nothing to do with universal mail-in voting.

00:31:18.000 Nonetheless, this caused everybody to lose their mind.

00:31:20.000 So people were out there protesting Louis Joy, who is the head of the U.S.

00:31:23.000 Postal Service.

00:31:24.000 They literally went outside his house, in person.

00:31:26.000 So, can't vote, right?

00:31:28.000 Can't vote in person, in big crowds.

00:31:30.000 Can't do any of that.

00:31:31.000 But can show up outside the home of the head of the U.S.

00:31:34.000 Postal Service, en masse.

00:31:36.000 Which makes perfect sense.

00:31:37.000 You can show up to shout, but you can't show up to vote.

00:31:40.000 So none of this makes any sense.

00:31:41.000 It is, in fact, a conspiracy theory. 1.00

00:31:43.000 So it was worth debunking this ridiculous and stupid conspiracy theory. 0.99

00:31:46.000 No, the Republicans are not trying to defund the U.S. 0.99

00:31:48.000 Postal Service in order to stop people from engaging in mail-in voting.

00:31:52.000 That makes zero sense whatsoever.

00:31:53.000 Again, it does not matter, though, because the narrative is now out there.

00:31:57.000 William McRaven, the former retired Navy admiral, Who is head of U.S.

00:32:01.000 Special Operations Command from 2011 to 2014.

00:32:03.000 He oversaw the killing of Bin Laden.

00:32:05.000 He has an editorial today in the Washington Post called Trump is actively working to undermine the Postal Service and every major U.S.

00:32:11.000 institution.

00:32:12.000 OK, I'm this grows tiresome.

00:32:15.000 It does.

00:32:15.000 It grows tiresome because, again, it is not backed by any evidence that the U.S.

00:32:20.000 Postal Service is being undermined or that it has any effect on balloting.

00:32:24.000 Meanwhile, Nancy Pelosi playing this one up to the hilt. 1.00

00:32:26.000 She is having Postmaster General Louis DeJoy summoned to testify in an urgent House Oversight Committee hearing.

00:32:33.000 Carolyn Maloney, Democrat of New York, called out a startling new revelation about the work of DeJoy over the past several weeks.

00:32:39.000 There have been startling new revelations about the scope and gravity of operational changes you are implementing at hundreds of postal facilities without consulting adequately with Congress, the Postal Regulatory Commission, or the Board of Governors.

00:32:49.000 So we're now just trafficking in full-on conspiracy.

00:32:51.000 So here's the good news.

00:32:52.000 The good news is no one's going to believe the election is legit.

00:32:54.000 No one.

00:32:55.000 If Biden loses, they're going to claim that it was because mail-in voting was screwed up by the Trump administration.

00:33:00.000 And if Trump loses, he's going to claim that it was because mail-in voting was allowed by a variety of states who then did ballot harvesting and the confusion allowed the Democrat to win.

00:33:08.000 So good news.

00:33:08.000 This is all going to be great.

00:33:10.000 All going to be great, guys.

00:33:12.000 Well done all across the board.

00:33:14.000 And the Democrat, by the way, Trump out there repeating conspiracy theories is real bad.

00:33:18.000 You know what else is real bad?

00:33:19.000 The Democrats in the media giving it credibility simply for political gain, which is what is happening right now.

00:33:24.000 Because again, I just laid out the entire fact base.

00:33:27.000 There is no fact base to suggest the U.S.

00:33:30.000 Postal Service is being defunded in order to stop mail-in balloting. 1.00

00:33:33.000 It is crap. 0.99

00:33:34.000 It is not true. 1.00

00:33:35.000 Okay.

00:33:36.000 In a second, we're going to get to why, in fact, all this attention is being paid to sillinesses like the U.S. 1.00

00:33:40.000 Postal Service.

00:33:42.000 When Joe Biden is the nominee and Kamala Harris is his running mate and Joe Biden has disappeared.

00:33:47.000 Like literally he is not there.

00:33:49.000 He's running the most absentee, he should vote by absentee ballot, he's running the most absentee campaign in the history of the American Republic.

00:33:55.000 It's incredible.

00:33:56.000 We're gonna get to that in just one moment.

00:33:58.000 First, let's talk about how hiring can be pretty complicated these days.

00:34:01.000 So you really need to take advantage of the avenues that allow you to hire quickly and easily and get the best person.

00:34:06.000 I'm talking about ZipRecruiter.

00:34:08.000 ZipRecruiter sends your job to over 100 of the web's leading job sites, but they don't stop there.

00:34:12.000 With their powerful matching technology, ZipRecruiter scans thousands of resumes to find people with the right experience, and then actively invites them to apply to your job.

00:34:19.000 ZipRecruiter makes the entire hiring process efficient and effective, features screening questions to filter candidates, and an all-in-one dashboard where you can review and rate those candidates.

00:34:29.000 ZipRecruiter is so effective that four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter get a quality candidate within the very first day.

00:34:36.000 It's really, really important.

00:34:37.000 For example, we had a great producer here named Katie, and she just decided to move on.

00:34:41.000 She apparently wants to teach at schools that no longer exist. 0.99

00:34:43.000 But we need to replace Katie, and so where have we gone?

00:34:45.000 We have gone to ZipRecruiter.

00:34:47.000 Right now, to try ZipRecruiter for free, my listeners can go to ZipRecruiter.com slash DailyWire.

00:34:52.000 That is ZipRecruiter.com slash D-A-I-L-Y-W-I-R-E.

00:34:55.000 ZipRecruiter.com slash DailyWire.

00:34:57.000 ZipRecruiter is indeed the smartest way to hire. 0.73

00:34:59.000 Go check them out.

00:35:00.000 ZipRecruiter.com slash DailyWire.

00:35:02.000 There's a reason we use ZipRecruiter, and you should too.

00:35:04.000 Okay, we're gonna get to Joe Biden's absentee campaign, and we'll get to the destruction of America's major cities.

00:35:10.000 A lot to get to still.

00:35:11.000 First, I want to thank all of you for your amazing enthusiasm for my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.

00:35:17.000 The book has been on the New York Times bestseller list for three straight weeks now.

00:35:19.000 It's got a ton of positive reviews on Amazon and other booksellers.

00:35:22.000 The book, as you know, covers the disintegrationist philosophy of the left in the United States.

00:35:27.000 That is, to make real social progress, we have to dissolve the entire American system and replace it with a radically new system, essentially stepping stones toward a Marxist pit of despair.

00:35:35.000 This is really evident in the recent selection of Kamala Harris for Vice President of the United States, who truly believes that America is based in nasty founding ideals.

00:35:45.000 I mean, unlike, Biden tries to paper this over, but Kamala Harris really does not. 0.98

00:35:48.000 I mean, she's an endorser of the 1619 Project.

00:35:51.000 She believes that America is fundamentally at root racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic.

00:35:55.000 How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps details How radicals like Kamala Harris have gained such prominence and offer suggestions on where we should go from here.

00:36:02.000 You can get your copy at Amazon or BarnesandNoble.com.

00:36:04.000 If you like the book, please hop in, leave a five-star review, which keeps it higher on the charts so more people see it.

00:36:09.000 Go ahead and enjoy.

00:36:10.000 Also, got to tell you about our most exclusive membership tier over at Daily Wire.

00:36:30.000 What is her name?

00:36:31.000 Billie Eilish?

00:36:32.000 I guess she's performing at the DNC.

00:36:33.000 She looks extraordinarily enthusiastic.

00:36:35.000 Sort of like a commercial for IBS.

00:36:38.000 If you actually look at the graphic the DNC put out, that's what it looks like.

00:36:40.000 So we will be similarly enthusiastic, I'm sure.

00:36:43.000 The stream starts at 8.45 p.m.

00:36:44.000 Eastern, 5.40 at 5 p.m.

00:37:10.000 That is an extraordinary deal.

00:37:16.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.

00:37:19.000 Alrighty, so where is Joe Biden?

00:37:29.000 Right, we're all talking about the mail and Trump trying to pervert the mail and it's all nonsense.

00:37:33.000 So where's Joe Biden, right?

00:37:33.000 Wouldn't you think that Joe Biden would be at the top of the news?

00:37:36.000 I mean, he just picked a VP candidate, but where is he?

00:37:39.000 He's gone.

00:37:40.000 This is the week before the convention.

00:37:42.000 The Democrats are having their convention this week.

00:37:43.000 Now, I know it's going to be a ridiculous online convention featuring a few phone-in Zoom videos from various liberal stars in Hollywood.

00:37:52.000 There's not going to be a big balloon drop.

00:37:54.000 Nothing of real importance is going to go on.

00:37:55.000 But still, normally this is the time when all focus shifts to the Democrat, right?

00:37:59.000 It wouldn't be on Trump.

00:38:00.000 It would be on the Democrat.

00:38:01.000 Joe Biden, however, has dug himself a hidey hole and he is hiding in it.

00:38:05.000 He's just hiding in that hidey hole.

00:38:06.000 So much so that the weekend before the Democratic National Convention, Biden and Harris, neither one of them appeared on a single Sunday show.

00:38:15.000 Not one.

00:38:16.000 Chris Wallace.

00:38:17.000 They are not putting anybody out.

00:38:18.000 You know, I did this very critical interview with Trump in which Trump said, he's never going to appear with you.

00:38:22.000 Trump was right on that one. 0.76

00:38:23.000 Here was Chris Wallace over the weekend being like, what in the hell?

00:38:26.000 The Biden campaign had no one on the shows.

00:38:28.000 It was Bernie Sanders acting as a surrogate for Biden on the Sunday shows, the week before the DNC, which is pretty much unheard of.

00:38:35.000 Here's Chris Wallace being very confused.

00:38:38.000 They are not putting anybody out.

00:38:39.000 And at first I thought, well, maybe it's because it's Fox News and they're boycotting us.

00:38:44.000 No, they're not putting anybody out on any of the Sunday shows.

00:38:48.000 Point.

00:38:49.000 I don't understand what's going on here. 0.86

00:38:51.000 This is the damnedest thing I've ever seen that you would, you know, you're basically giving a campaign. 0.76

00:38:56.000 And as I say, it's a traditional thing. 0.92

00:38:58.000 We're going to do it for the Republicans a week from Sunday.

00:39:02.000 What are you trying to accomplish this week?

00:39:04.000 And they, the Biden campaign, isn't putting anybody out.

00:39:09.000 Which is pretty incredible, right?

00:39:10.000 I mean, you would think that now would be the time when he's really, really pushing.

00:39:13.000 Instead, he's playing it safe.

00:39:14.000 Now, I will say that as a strategy, I get it, but the football team that plays it safe loses.

00:39:19.000 And once you go to prevent defense, it's almost a guarantee that somebody is going to throw a Hail Mary pass that ends up doing some serious damage to you.

00:39:26.000 You see this with sports teams all the time.

00:39:28.000 They have a big lead.

00:39:28.000 They start nursing that lead.

00:39:29.000 They sort of hope that the clock runs out.

00:39:31.000 You're seeing that from Biden right now, to the point where even Brian Stelter on CNN, who's just a lackey for the Democratic Party, He's a very reliable source over on CNN.

00:39:38.000 I mean, last week, Brian Stelter was the guy defending Joe Biden against charges that he lost something off his fastball by suggesting that Joe Biden can ride a bicycle.

00:39:46.000 But even Brian Stelter was like, at some point, shouldn't Joe Biden do like a presser at some point?

00:39:51.000 Like at all?

00:39:51.000 Like just come out of that basement for like five seconds and at least tell us whether winter is coming?

00:39:55.000 Like a groundhog or something?

00:39:56.000 Before he's murdered by Bill de Blasio?

00:39:58.000 Anyway, here was Brian Stelter.

00:40:01.000 Here's Trump, you know, calling into Fox News, giving an interview to Sinclair this week, holding briefings.

00:40:07.000 Biden, on the other hand, is having very formal events, giving speeches.

00:40:11.000 They're perfectly executed from a campaign point of view.

00:40:14.000 But the press is asked to leave the room.

00:40:16.000 We barely get to ask any questions of Biden these days.

00:40:19.000 I understand it is savvy campaign strategy to keep him away from questioners.

00:40:23.000 But John Harris, don't they have to have a press conference?

00:40:27.000 Nope, they don't.

00:40:28.000 You know why?

00:40:28.000 Because of the compliant media.

00:40:29.000 Every single day.

00:40:31.000 Biden and Harris do some sort of public event, and then they just sit there and do nothing for like two minutes, pretend to sign documents, and then they walk out the door.

00:40:38.000 And everybody's like, well, that was weird.

00:40:39.000 I mean, shouldn't they answer a question?

00:40:41.000 Well, the good news is we know that Joe Biden is doing interviews. 0.91

00:40:43.000 He is, in fact, doing interviews, but only with the most ridiculous among us. 0.93

00:40:47.000 So, we've been told that Donald Trump is an entertainer, right? 0.93

00:40:50.000 He doesn't take politics seriously.

00:40:52.000 He's not a serious person, Donald Trump.

00:40:54.000 He's a reality TV star.

00:40:55.000 He's not a serious politician like Joe Biden, for example.

00:40:58.000 He's not like Barack Obama, who did an interview with GloZell, a lady who is most famous for taking a bath in Cheerios, not kidding, or Froot Loops.

00:41:06.000 Okay, Joe Biden did not give any interview over the course of the last week, since the Harris election, to anyone in the media.

00:41:12.000 But he did talk to, and I will admit, She is Shakespearean. 0.99

00:41:18.000 She's a seminal cultural figure.

00:41:20.000 She is a brilliant political commentator. 0.95

00:41:23.000 Cardi B. I've been informed of all those things over the course of the last week and a half since I made fun of her horrible song, Wet-Ass P-Word. 0.90

00:41:30.000 Again, for purposes of radio. 0.88

00:41:32.000 P-Word, gang. 0.97

00:41:33.000 Okay, so, he gave an interview to Cardi B. He gave an interview to Cardi B. Not Chris Wallace.

00:41:40.000 Not Jake Tapper.

00:41:41.000 Not even a friendly like George Stephanopoulos.

00:41:44.000 He gave an interview to Cardi B for Elle Magazine. 0.86

00:41:48.000 It was very, very important that Joe Biden, who likes to sniff women's hair, was interviewed by a woman who liked to drug and rob men. 1.00

00:41:56.000 It was very, like, deeply important.

00:41:59.000 The Shakespeare of our time, one of the great poets of Western civilization, it goes like, basically John Milton, Cardi B, Lord Alfred Tennyson.

00:42:09.000 That's pretty much how it goes.

00:42:10.000 This is what I've been told.

00:42:11.000 Okay, I'm not speaking here, okay?

00:42:12.000 I'm just telling you what the media have informed me.

00:42:14.000 So I think it's actually really, like, if I had to choose whether Joe Biden should speak to, you know, a member of the press who knows things about politics, for example, like Jonathan Swan, or talk to the lady who was most recently seen.

00:42:26.000 I'm going to avoid some of the terminology.

00:42:28.000 Looking for a bucket and a mop.

00:42:30.000 With Megan Thee Stallion in a music video involving gushing water coming out of front door that wasn't actually gushing water.

00:42:39.000 If he has to choose between interviewing with the editorial board of the New York Times even, which is friendly, and interviewing with the incredible creator of WAP, Obviously, I mean, who wouldn't make this choice?

00:42:53.000 Here was Joe Biden being interviewed by Cardi B, and listen to the level of questioning.

00:42:57.000 I mean, it is astonishing.

00:42:59.000 He's a serious candidate, though.

00:43:00.000 He's super, super serious.

00:43:02.000 He's super serious.

00:43:02.000 You can tell she's serious, by the way, because she put on her journalist outfit.

00:43:05.000 She's not wearing the routine from WAP.

00:43:07.000 Now she's got on her, like, Lois Lane outfit. 0.99

00:43:09.000 Here was Cardi B talking to Joe Biden, who will not do an interview with an actual journalist, but will talk to the lady who is most famously strutting around talking about the moisture state of her vagina five seconds ago. 0.97

00:43:19.000 I, of course, want free Medicare. 0.86

00:43:22.000 And this is why it's important to have free Medicare, because look what's happening right now.

00:43:26.000 You see why we should have been have free Medicare for a long time?

00:43:30.000 I, of course, think that we need a free college education.

00:43:34.000 That's second. 0.92

00:43:36.000 And I want Black people to stop getting killed and no justice for it. 1.00

00:43:43.000 I'm tired of it. 0.98

00:43:44.000 Well, it's just like Jonathan Swan.

00:43:46.000 It's like Jonathan Swan or Chris Wallace.

00:43:48.000 By the way, I mean, she says that she wants free health care and that she wants free college. 0.99

00:43:53.000 She, by the way, tells her story of her college experience, and she says that she had to work her way through college.

00:43:57.000 She doesn't talk about the part where the working way through college involved drugging and robbing men.

00:44:00.000 That's literally what she has said in interviews before.

00:44:02.000 That part she skipped over because it didn't really fit in the interview.

00:44:05.000 Anyway, it's, so she wants free college, free health care, and She wants black people to stop getting randomly killed by the cops, which again, is statistically not happening. 0.99

00:44:16.000 Okay, and here was Joe Biden's answer, which they didn't actually put up at all.

00:44:20.000 Here was the actual answer, okay?

00:44:21.000 There's no reason why we can't have all of that.

00:44:23.000 Presidents have to take responsibility.

00:44:25.000 I understand one of your favorite presidents is Franklin Roosevelt.

00:44:27.000 Roosevelt said the American people can take anything if you tell them the truth.

00:44:31.000 Sometimes the truth is hard, but right now we're in a position where we have an opportunity to make so much progress, the American public has taken the blinders off.

00:44:39.000 So, in other words, he's gonna give you free healthcare, which doesn't exist.

00:44:42.000 There's no such thing as free healthcare.

00:44:43.000 There's just government-funded healthcare through taxpayer dollars, and it comes with an awful lot of costs.

00:44:48.000 And then he's gonna give free college, so we're going to make sure that everybody can spend taxpayer dollars majoring in gender studies theory where they learn that Cardi B is like a Shakespearean figure.

00:44:58.000 And also, he's gonna make sure that black people are not randomly shot for no reason by the cops, which he's just going to go along with that supposition. 0.71

00:45:06.000 Really solid stuff here, Joe Biden.

00:45:08.000 I can see why he did this incredibly, incredibly important interview with Cardi B. So he's avoiding real interviews, but he's doing interviews with Cardi B. What a campaign.

00:45:17.000 Meanwhile, his running mate, Kamala Harris, so she appeared with Stephen Colbert. 0.55

00:45:21.000 Again, doing real hard-hitting interviews here with folks like Stephen Colbert. 0.97

00:45:24.000 Stephen Colbert asked her, remember that time you were calling, remember that time you were actually calling Your running mate, a racist who might have raped people. 0.98

00:45:34.000 Remember that time? 0.98

00:45:35.000 It was kind of awkward, right? 0.53

00:45:35.000 You were out there and you were like, well, he might be a sexual harasser. 0.53

00:45:38.000 Maybe a sexual assa- I don't know. 0.86

00:45:40.000 Remember that time that you were saying that he was going to prevent little girls like you from going to school?

00:45:44.000 And Kamala Harris is like, She breaks into awkward laugh. 1.00

00:45:49.000 And then she admits full on that she's just a damned liar. 1.00

00:45:51.000 So here is Stephen Colbert. 1.00

00:45:54.000 And even Colbert was like, this is awkward because now you're basically just admitting that you're a horrible politician who lies a lot.

00:45:59.000 There was a very awkward moment the media will completely just forget five seconds from now.

00:46:05.000 How do you go from being such a passionate opponent on such bedrock principles for you?

00:46:12.000 And now you guys seem to be pals.

00:46:17.000 It was a debate.

00:46:21.000 Not everybody landed punches like you did though.

00:46:23.000 It was a debate!

00:46:27.000 So you don't mean it?

00:46:29.000 It was a debate that the whole reason, literally, it was a debate.

00:46:33.000 It was called a debate.

00:46:37.000 Slap on that Cesar Romero and go for it, man.

00:46:39.000 It was a debate. 1.00

00:46:41.000 So I was a damn liar. 1.00

00:46:42.000 I was lying. 1.00

00:46:43.000 OK, some of us at the time said she was a damn liar. 1.00

00:46:45.000 There were some of us at the time who said she's lying right now. 0.99

00:46:47.000 She doesn't support forced busing.

00:46:49.000 She's going after Joe Biden.

00:46:50.000 People are like, no, there was a little girl living in the Berkeley area who almost couldn't go to an integrated school because of Joe Biden.

00:46:56.000 She's sincere.

00:46:58.000 She is authentic.

00:46:58.000 authentic. She's experienced the lives of hardship of people of color in the United States because of people like Joe Biden. You remember that? Remember that time? And now here she's on Colbert being like, I just lie. I just lie. Isn't that kind of incredible? I mean, truly, Like, she doesn't even have to come up with a plausible explanation on how she shifted from Biden, is he a rapist or a racist?

00:47:21.000 To Biden is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and I love him so much.

00:47:25.000 And also, by the way, here's a cup of hemlock for you.

00:47:29.000 Like, isn't it incredible how she went from Joe Biden is the worst person I've ever met.

00:47:34.000 Joe Biden is the greatest, most wonderful, kindest human being I've ever met.

00:47:38.000 Manchurian candidate.

00:47:40.000 And then she openly admits that she was just lying because it was a debate.

00:47:45.000 I mean, isn't that kind of unbelievable?

00:47:47.000 How does she get away with that? 1.00

00:47:48.000 How?

00:47:48.000 How does she get away with it?

00:47:49.000 And you know the answer, how she gets away with it, because the media do not give two dams. 1.00

00:47:52.000 The same people who will sit there and call Donald Trump a liar day after day after day and rightly call him out when he does something that is wrong and sometimes not rightly call him out when he does something that isn't particularly wrong.

00:48:02.000 They will sit there and pretend this never happened. 1.00

00:48:04.000 They will pretend that it's OK for Joe Biden to hide in the basement and talk to Cardi B, but not journalists, and for Kamala Harris to go on national television and say openly that she is a damned liar. 0.98

00:48:16.000 That in debate, you're allowed to say anything, anything. 0.98

00:48:19.000 It's absolutely incredible.

00:48:22.000 So.

00:48:23.000 You know, just worthy of note, when the media focus endlessly on the U.S.

00:48:27.000 Postal Service and the scandal therein, a scandal that does not exist, and ignore the fact that Kamala Harris just outed herself as an open liar about her own running mate, Just recognize that we are living in a universe where truth does not matter.

00:48:40.000 The only thing that matters is the narrative.

00:48:41.000 And we should all just continue to believe.

00:48:43.000 Believe, listen, and believe.

00:48:45.000 Joe Biden is a great candidate.

00:48:47.000 He has not lost anything off his fastball.

00:48:48.000 And Kamala Harris is authentic and wonderful and completely honest with you, the American people.

00:48:54.000 Alrighty, so I want to do a quick thing I like.

00:48:56.000 So last week I had the opportunity to interview the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, on the radio show.

00:49:01.000 So we're going to play some of that now in case you missed it.

00:49:04.000 And then we'll see you here later today or see you tomorrow.

00:49:07.000 Here's what it sounded like last week when I talked with the Vice President Pence.

00:49:11.000 We're joined on the line by Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence.

00:49:15.000 Thank you, Ben.

00:49:15.000 Great to be back on the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:49:17.000 So let's talk about the fact that Joe Biden has now selected his vice presidential candidate in a decision that surprised very few people.

00:49:24.000 It was Kamala Harris, the senator from California.

00:49:26.000 So your thoughts on the person you will now be facing in the sole vice presidential debate?

00:49:31.000 I think the fact that Joe Biden named California liberal Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate confirms everything President Trump and I have been saying, that Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have been overtaken by the radical left.

00:49:48.000 I mean, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want higher taxes, socialized medicine, open borders, abortion on demand, and they support cutting funding to the police.

00:49:59.000 I think Senator Kamala Harris actually said that it was time to reimagine the police department in the wake of all the violence that we're seeing in places like Portland and Seattle and New York City.

00:50:11.000 And the president and I, by contrast, have a record of cutting taxes, rolling back regulations at an unprecedented level, unleashing American energy, standing up for the right to life, for the liberties that make this country great.

00:50:25.000 And I promise you and your listeners, Ben, that we will always stand with the men and women who serve on the thin blue line of law enforcement.

00:50:34.000 That's the choice.

00:50:35.000 That's the contrast.

00:50:36.000 But Joe Biden's selection of Senator Kamala Harris, just again, I just think it's an affirmation of everything that we've seen about the way the radical left is dominating the Democratic Party.

00:50:48.000 That's the message I had in Iowa yesterday.

00:50:50.000 We're going to take that message on the road next week to Wisconsin and Florida, all across this country and all the way through victory on November 3rd.

00:50:58.000 Now, Vice President Pence, there's been a lot of talk about how vice presidential selections generally don't affect elections overall, that it's top of the ticket election.

00:51:06.000 I don't think that's the case this time.

00:51:07.000 Biden has declared himself a transitional figure in the Democratic Party by picking Kamala Harris.

00:51:12.000 He's essentially said that he himself is a Trojan horse for Kamala Harris's ideology.

00:51:16.000 60 percent of Americans, according to a Rasmussen poll, are suspicious that Biden will not even finish his first term.

00:51:21.000 How important do you think his VP pick actually is to the American people?

00:51:24.000 Should it matter?

00:51:25.000 Well, I think Joe Biden's agenda of the radical left confirmed in his selection of someone who was recognized as the most liberal member of the United States Senate.

00:51:39.000 In 2019.

00:51:40.000 It is the real issue here, Ben.

00:51:44.000 I really believe that.

00:51:47.000 If you want to know what Joe Biden is planning to transition us to in this country, you need to look no further than the unity agenda that he and Bernie Sanders unveiled about a month ago.

00:52:00.000 I mean, the reality is where President Trump Set this nation on a path of freedom and opportunity grounded in the principles of a strong military, free market economics, appointing conservatives to our courts at every level.

00:52:16.000 The Joe Biden-Bernie Sanders unity agenda would set us inexorably on a path of socialism and decline.

00:52:24.000 And so I think, as I said before, I think his selection of Senator Kamala Harris is just a confirmation Of the path that Joe Biden and his candidacy were on from the point early in his campaign.

00:52:42.000 I mean, it's an amazing thing.

00:52:43.000 You know that I couldn't be more proud to serve alongside the most pro-life president in the United States.

00:52:49.000 And Ben, I've always admired your strong stand for the sanctity of life.

00:52:54.000 And Joe Biden was one of those Democrats throughout his career that while he said he supported abortion rights, That like many, he supported the Hyde Amendment, which prevented taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions.

00:53:09.000 But even that Joe Biden abandoned over the last year, that now he supports taxpayer funding of abortion as calling for record increases in funding for Planned Parenthood of America.

00:53:21.000 And it's just one issue after another where you see that Joe Biden and the Democratic Party have been overtaken by the radical left.

00:53:28.000 That's why the choice in this election has never been clearer.

00:53:32.000 The stakes have never been higher.

00:53:34.000 And that's the message that the president, that his running mate that's talking to you right now are going to take all across this country.

00:53:42.000 And I believe we're going to see a great victory come November 3rd.

00:53:48.000 Vice President Pence, how do you plan to pin down Kamala Harris on her position?

00:53:51.000 So the media have already been shockingly attempting to portray her as moderate.

00:53:55.000 The New York Times laughably called her a pragmatic moderate in its initial tweet about Kamala Harris.

00:54:00.000 Again, she is the leftmost senator in the United States. 0.89

00:54:03.000 They're trying to proclaim that she's actually of the center, but Kamala Harris has an extraordinary record of shifting her positions on everything from Medicare for all, she was for it before she was against it, before she was sort of for it, before she was against it again, to Joe Biden himself, who she essentially implied was a racist in open debate who was attempting to stop her from attending an integrated school when she was a small child. Now, of course, he's a warrior for the people. How do you plan to pin Kamala Harris down when she has been so squishy on so many issues? Well, you know, my second favorite

00:54:32.000 president is Abraham Lincoln.

00:54:35.000 In fact, I have a portrait in my office here at the White House that was dated back from the days of his administration.

00:54:42.000 Abraham Lincoln said it best, Ben.

00:54:43.000 He said, give the people the facts and the Republic will be saved.

00:54:47.000 That's what we're going to do.

00:54:48.000 That's what we're going to do with Joe Biden.

00:54:50.000 That's what we're going to do with California liberal Senator Kamala Harris. 1.00

00:54:54.000 We're just going to tell the American people where they want to go.

00:54:57.000 I mean, it is an amazing thing to think about.

00:55:00.000 I mean, here we are in the midst of a global pandemic.

00:55:04.000 And we grieve for the loss of more than 160,000 Americans.

00:55:09.000 We've been working 24 hours a day to have the testing, to have the equipment, to have the medical supplies, to have the medicines.

00:55:18.000 We're driving relentlessly toward a vaccine.

00:55:21.000 But what we're also doing is we're opening up America again.

00:55:24.000 I mean, we've literally seen 9 million Americans go back to work and reclaim jobs in this economy.

00:55:33.000 In the last three months alone, we're opening up our schools all across the country.

00:55:37.000 But Joe Biden and Kamala Harris want to raise taxes by $4 trillion.

00:55:44.000 They want to impose a $2 trillion version of the Green New Deal at a time when the American economy is recovering. 0.68

00:55:52.000 And we're adding jobs back at a historic pace.

00:55:57.000 Their prescription alone for the economy would crush the vitality out of the recovery that's underway.

00:56:05.000 And I just think presenting all of those facts, laying out the contrast and the choice in this election, I truly do believe that, you know, President Trump demonstrated in our first three years that we could be strong again, we could be prosperous again.

00:56:20.000 By advancing policies of less taxes, less regulation, more American energy, free and fair trade, standing on our highest constitutional principles of life and liberty in the Second Amendment, their policies would not only crush the vitality out of this economy, but take us on a leftward turn of socialism and decline.

00:56:40.000 And when we frame that choice for the American people, I'm I'm very confident we're going to win four more years for President Donald Trump in the White House.

00:56:52.000 And Vice President Pence, how do you plan to fend off the attacks from the media that any critique of Kamala Harris is in fact a reflection of sexism and racism?

00:56:58.000 We've seen this narrative being trotted out that if President Trump calls her phony, it's because it's a sexist or racist attack, that if he says her treatment of Brett Kavanaugh was nasty, which technically it was, that that is a reflection of sexism and racism.

00:57:10.000 How do you plan to fight back against those charges?

00:57:14.000 No, we're just going to deal with the facts every single step of the way.

00:57:19.000 The media is going to do what the media is going to do.

00:57:25.000 I was chuckling the other day when I heard that the New York Times had done a story describing the most liberal member of the United States Senate as a moderate, as a pragmatic moderate.

00:57:37.000 And then you saw newspapers and also, you know, their adherence on a couple of the major cable networks repeating the same language.

00:57:46.000 But look, it kind of reminds me of what Groucho Marx said years ago.

00:57:51.000 He said, who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?

00:57:54.000 Right?

00:57:55.000 I mean, the Democrats and the liberals in the media, you know, want to say, no, believe us when we try and tell you, as now Joe Biden's campaign is trying to say that he's a moderate.

00:58:06.000 But the American people see it.

00:58:08.000 I mean, they see plans to raise taxes by trillions of dollars.

00:58:13.000 They see a march towards socialized medicine, a commitment to open borders and health benefits for illegal immigrants. 0.90

00:58:21.000 They see it, abortion on demand, taxpayer funding of abortion.

00:58:26.000 And I think most poignant of all, and you've talked a lot about this, Ben, but at a time when we see a rise of heartbreaking violence tearing apart our cities in New York and Seattle and Portland and Chicago, you've got Joe Biden, he's asked if he'd be willing to cut funding He said, yes, absolutely.

00:58:47.000 You have his running mate who said that it was time to, quote, reimagine law enforcement.

00:58:55.000 I have to tell you that when I was in Iowa yesterday, I was surrounded in a barn by law enforcement officers and their families.

00:59:04.000 I believe with all of my heart that when we lay out that agenda, when we stick to those facts, we give the American people a clear choice.

00:59:13.000 They're going to choose to re-elect President Donald Trump and support an agenda that made America great in three short years.

00:59:20.000 It's going to make America great again with four more years.

00:59:23.000 Vice President Mike Pence, really appreciate your time.

00:59:25.000 Congratulations on entering a politically target-rich environment.

00:59:29.000 I appreciate it.

00:59:30.000 And good luck, sir.
