The Ben Shapiro Show - Joker's Wild | Ep. 950

00:00:00.000 The Oscars are predictably irritating.

00:00:02.000 Joe Biden stumbles even as he correctly diagnoses his own party.

00:00:05.000 And the other Democrats open up the circular firing squad.

00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:00:08.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:22.000 Well, you may have noticed that things are crazy, right?

00:00:24.000 It's just the beginning of the year.

00:00:25.000 We've already seen mass chaos, cats and dogs living together, chaos in the streets, like the whole thing.

00:00:30.000 Well, this is why you might want to think about diversifying your portfolio at least a little bit.

00:00:35.000 And one of the ways you can diversify your portfolio is to put at least a little bit of your money in precious metals.

00:00:39.000 I'm not saying take all of your money out of the stock market, liquidate it, put it in gold bars and bury them in your backyard.

00:00:44.000 I'm talking about have a little bit of your money in precious metals because the fact is the government messes around with the currency.

00:00:48.000 The government messes around with the value of things that you own.

00:00:51.000 So why wouldn't you at least diversify into something that the government doesn't really control?

00:00:54.000 And that is the price of gold.

00:00:56.000 If you haven't yet taken the first step of requesting a free information kit on gold, go ahead and do it.

00:01:00.000 If you haven't converted a portion of your eligible IRA or 401k to an IRA and precious metals, at least go and have the conversation.

00:01:05.000 Birch Gold will go to work and make things super simple.

00:01:08.000 There's no obligation to have nothing to lose to take that first step.

00:01:11.000 Birch Gold Group has thousands of satisfied customers, countless five-star reviews, and A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.

00:01:16.000 So, text BEN to 474747 during the month of February.

00:01:20.000 When you open an IRA in Precious Metals, you do get a signed copy of my book, The Right Side of History, for free.

00:01:25.000 The deal was extended from January.

00:01:26.000 Don't know how long it's gonna last.

00:01:27.000 So, you have to text BEN to 474747 in February and open an IRA in Precious Metals and get a signed copy of my book, The Right Side of History.

00:01:35.000 The real reason, of course, that you should go and check out Birch Gold is because you should have all the information not to get a free copy of my book.

00:01:40.000 Instead, Go check them out, ask all of your questions, and then once you have your answers, talk with the folks at Birchgold about doing business.

00:01:46.000 Text Ben to 474747.

00:01:47.000 That's Ben to 474747.

00:01:49.000 Okay, so last night was the Oscars.

00:01:53.000 Ooh, ah!

00:01:54.000 And the Oscars are a wonderful window into what the cultural left really thinks of America.

00:02:00.000 The Oscars every year do more to help President Trump than any other cultural event in America.

00:02:06.000 Truly.

00:02:06.000 Because it's finally when the American people get to see what all of the people on the coast truly think of them.

00:02:12.000 And as I say, I don't think that everybody on the coast really thinks the way the people at the Oscars think, but enough of them do.

00:02:19.000 And it is amusing, I will say, to watch the Oscars outwoke themselves.

00:02:24.000 Basically, the Oscars writ large are the story that I talked about on the show last week.

00:02:28.000 There's a show I talked about on the show last week where a bunch of liberal white women were hiring a couple of women of color to lecture them about how unwoke they were. 0.97

00:02:34.000 They were paying them like $2,500 a session in order to have malice struggle sessions where they confessed How secretly racist they were and how they were insensitive and couldn't identify microaggressions and all of this.

00:02:44.000 And the real reason you do that is so that then you can go tell all of your left-leaning friends that you are the kind of person who is so woke that you paid $2,500 to a lady to explain to you how you are not woke enough.

00:02:58.000 I mean, this is the idea here.

00:03:00.000 It's really because the impressive level of subversive racism that exists in the left-wing community, it truly is incredible.

00:03:07.000 It truly is incredible. 0.86

00:03:09.000 Okay, so the upper class, posh, white, kind of looking down your nose at black people, in that black people are only there to alleviate your sense of guilt. 0.98

00:03:18.000 And the way that you alleviate your sense of guilt is by hiring black people to tell you that you're actually guilty. 0.99

00:03:23.000 It's really, really impressive. 0.90

00:03:24.000 And that's what was happening at the Oscars last night.

00:03:26.000 There's a lot of racial signaling.

00:03:28.000 It was also a lot of class signaling.

00:03:30.000 Nothing more woke than a bunch of incredibly, incredibly rich people who go out there and use their richness to push for socialism.

00:03:39.000 Nothing says that you are woke, quite like not giving up any of your money, like still taking millions and millions of dollars to do these movies, but then complaining about class conflict.

00:03:47.000 And this is one way at least to see the win for Parasite, which again, I've only watched about half of Parasite at this point, and seems like a fine movie, like really, but it is a class conflict parable.

00:03:57.000 And folks in Hollywood love this kind of stuff.

00:03:59.000 You have to understand that the Oscars really operate more like the viewer function on Rotten Tomatoes.

00:04:05.000 On Rotten Tomatoes, when they rate movies, there are two ratings.

00:04:08.000 There's the critics' ratings, and then there's the audience rating.

00:04:11.000 And the audience rating is usually, how does this film fulfill expectations?

00:04:14.000 How does this film make me feel about me?

00:04:17.000 And the same thing is true, to a certain extent, with the critics.

00:04:18.000 How does this film make me feel about me?

00:04:20.000 Which is why my rule on Rotten Tomatoes, if it's above 90%, there's a really good chance that the movie's terrible.

00:04:25.000 And if it's below 60%, there's a really good chance that the movie's terrible.

00:04:28.000 Well, in Hollywood, the question for the Oscars is always, how does this film make me feel about me?

00:04:32.000 And that's why you see films like Birdman, which no one saw, and of the people who saw it, few liked.

00:04:38.000 It's how that movie ends up winning Best Picture, because people in Hollywood are obsessed with themselves.

00:04:42.000 It's how the movie Moonlight wins an Oscar.

00:04:44.000 Not because it was the best movie that year, it wasn't, but because it made people in Hollywood feel really good about themselves to reward a movie that was about a black gay kid.

00:04:52.000 This is how Hollywood views itself.

00:04:54.000 So, for Parasite, the question is why would Parasite win?

00:04:57.000 And sure, it's a fine movie, but there were a bunch of really good movies made last year, including 1917, which is going to go down in five years as one of the better war films ever made.

00:05:05.000 Ford vs. Ferrari, which is going to be a basic cable classic.

00:05:09.000 Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which is Tarantino's best film.

00:05:11.000 In ten years, people are not going to remember Parasite.

00:05:13.000 In ten years, people aren't going to remember a lot of the other films that were made this year.

00:05:16.000 The reason that Hollywood rewarded this is for two reasons.

00:05:19.000 One, they get to now claim that they are woke because they're awarded a class conflict script.

00:05:23.000 And two, because they now get to claim they are woke because they're awarded a foreign film.

00:05:27.000 And this was the only way of avoiding the innate conflict of having mainly white films nominated.

00:05:32.000 This is all we heard about in the run-up to the Oscars, is how white the Oscars were. 0.66

00:05:35.000 Hashtag OscarsSoWhite.

00:05:37.000 So white.

00:05:38.000 And so give it to a South Korean film, and then you don't have to worry about being accused of racism anymore.

00:05:43.000 Now, hilariously enough, those same white people who voted for Parasite will be very much in favor of South Koreans being barred from Harvard so long as it means that affirmative action can apply to people of other races.

00:05:53.000 See, if you're South Korean, you're only a member of a minority group for certain purposes, but not other purposes.

00:05:56.000 But in any case, This may be too deep a read.

00:05:59.000 Let's go into what exactly happened at the Oscars last night.

00:06:02.000 So as I say, this Oscars, as most Oscars have turned into, was the equivalent of a bunch of liberal white ladies hiring a couple of women of color in order to inform them how racist they are. 1.00

00:06:12.000 So they hired Janelle Monáe. 1.00

00:06:14.000 Who has, you know, she's a talented lady, but she's basically made a living the past few years kind of social justice warrior-ing a little bit. 1.00

00:06:21.000 And she starts off the Oscars by lecturing Americans about how the Academy is anti-queer and anti-black because she is queer and black and that's why she's special, as opposed to she's talented so she's special.

00:06:33.000 She's talented because she's queer and black, which is weird because neither of those are talents. 1.00

00:06:37.000 In any case, here is Janelle Monáe. 1.00

00:06:39.000 We celebrate all the women who directed phenomenal films.

00:06:42.000 And I'm so proud to stand here as a black, queer artist telling stories.

00:06:48.000 Happy Black History Month.

00:06:51.000 We're gonna get low.

00:06:53.000 We're gonna take it to the underground.

00:06:57.000 This is so tone deaf.

00:06:58.000 It's so insanely tone deaf.

00:07:00.000 First of all, I don't know what happened.

00:07:01.000 If she was attacked by a florist shop, but she's walking around wearing a big old cape that's made of flowers and talking about, let's talk about all the women who made great films this year. 0.99

00:07:12.000 And the idea is that everybody is horrible for not nominating these women for best director.

00:07:16.000 OK, the films that were supposed to be nominated for best film this year or best director for these women. 1.00

00:07:21.000 Almost universally, we're not incredibly good films.

00:07:24.000 And I haven't seen Little Women, which apparently should have picked up every Oscar that was ever made. 1.00

00:07:27.000 Like, including all, retroactively, every Oscar that has been made since the beginning of time, because it was made by Greta Gerwig.

00:07:32.000 And we know Greta Gerwig was put upon because she was nominated for Lady Bird two years ago.

00:07:35.000 But in any case, Janelle Monáe then starts going down the front row to all of these rich white people and trying to hijack them into proclaiming their wokeness with her. 1.00

00:07:44.000 Right?

00:07:45.000 You can see Tom Hanks trying to bob his head to the beat a little bit.

00:07:48.000 And it's like me trying to bob my head to the beat, right?

00:07:50.000 I mean, I'm a white guy.

00:07:50.000 Like not, not really, not a thing that is happening in the video of this is so spectacular.

00:07:56.000 Janelle Monáe just walking around. 0.99

00:07:59.000 It's like an entirely white front row, an entirely white front row. 0.70

00:08:03.000 Right.

00:08:03.000 And she's walking around with the microphone, trying to cudgel them into being part of a really, really awkward looking, looking at Tom Hanks being like, okay, am I supposed to bob my head here?

00:08:13.000 What am I doing?

00:08:14.000 What's going on now?

00:08:14.000 How did I find myself at this, at this off-Broadway creative theater production?

00:08:20.000 Like, what exactly is happening here?

00:08:22.000 And that was just the beginning, guys. 0.92

00:08:24.000 By the way, if you ever want to see awkward white people, if you ever want to see awkward white people, I will say that the Oscars are a great place to see awkward white people. 0.67

00:08:31.000 Eminem, who is another white person, Eminem apparently rapped at the Oscars last night. 0.77

00:08:35.000 The cutaways to the audience are just gold.

00:08:38.000 They're just gold because nobody in the audience knows what the hell is going on.

00:08:42.000 Eminem is up on stage yelling and rapping and cursing and everybody in the audience is super confused and it's just fantastic.

00:08:49.000 You know, let's show some of the video of this.

00:08:50.000 This is really spectacular.

00:08:54.000 They all look puzzled.

00:08:54.000 They don't know what's going on.

00:08:58.000 Basically.

00:09:01.000 Oh, the awkwardness.

00:09:02.000 Oh, it's so awkward.

00:09:03.000 All of these.

00:09:03.000 The cutaway to Scorsese is the best part of that.

00:09:08.000 Scorsese is looking at that like a Marvel Avengers film.

00:09:10.000 He's just like, I don't know what.

00:09:12.000 No.

00:09:12.000 Oh, great stuff.

00:09:13.000 OK, so Hollywood wasn't done there.

00:09:16.000 Then you got the speeches, and the speeches were all about how woke they were.

00:09:21.000 They were all about how woke and crazily woke they were.

00:09:23.000 Okay, so Josh Gad, right, gets up, and he explains that he is a special person.

00:09:30.000 Why?

00:09:30.000 Because he's not a climate denier.

00:09:31.000 He somehow sneaks this into a joke about Frozen 2.

00:09:34.000 Again, all of this is gonna make Trump president again.

00:09:36.000 You have to understand that for most people who see any clip from this show, what they're going to feel is an overwhelming sense of irritation at these annoying, extraordinarily wealthy, Jackasses who pose as our moral superiors while doing nothing actually morally superior. 1.00

00:09:52.000 And the ways that they pose as our moral superiors are by either paying homage to the woke culture, like by bobbing their heads to Janelle Monae doing her routine, or By getting up there and claiming that everyone else is an idiot. 0.99

00:10:03.000 So Josh Gad does this routine about climate change. 0.96

00:10:06.000 Again, one of the great irritants about the climate change talk is nobody ever talks about solutions when it comes to climate change.

00:10:10.000 It all becomes virtue signaling about how wonderful they are for believing in climate change in the first place.

00:10:14.000 So Josh Gad did that routine, trying to, of course, to ride half the country in the middle of this.

00:10:20.000 As Mindy noted, animated movies are loved everywhere.

00:10:23.000 In fact, Frozen 2, or as climate change deniers call it, not Frozen 2, has been dubbed in 45 different languages, which means I now have 44 blood rivals around the world.

00:10:35.000 These dubbed versions provide kids and adults everywhere their own special connection to the story and its characters, which means there are so many great versions of Elsa.

00:10:45.000 For instance, Canadian Elsa is basically the same, but with healthcare.

00:10:53.000 Aha, the Oscars.

00:10:54.000 You guys are so in touch.

00:10:56.000 It's really great to see how in touch they are.

00:10:57.000 We'll get to more of the Oscars in a second.

00:10:59.000 And again, this is important because the culture wars are an inherent part of our culture, more and more so.

00:11:03.000 I'll explain why in just a few minutes.

00:11:05.000 But first, let's talk about the window coverings in your home.

00:12:23.000 Okay, Brad Pitt also got up at the Oscars and decided that he was going to jump into the political act.

00:12:28.000 I definitely trust the judgment of somebody Thank you to the Academy for this honor of honors.

00:12:32.000 Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, because that's definitely showing some good life judgment there. 1.00

00:12:37.000 Anyway, here is Brad Pitt explaining his perspective on the impeachment hearings, which is something you definitely needed to hear based on the fact that he was once in seven years in Tibet and therefore knows all about politics or something.

00:12:50.000 Here's Brad Pitt saying things.

00:12:52.000 Thank you to the Academy for this honor of honors.

00:12:55.000 They told me I only have 45 seconds up here, which is 45 seconds more than the Senate gave John Bolton this week.

00:13:03.000 I'm thinking maybe Quentin does a movie about it.

00:13:05.000 In the end, the adults do the right thing.

00:13:12.000 And they're all laughing, don't you see?

00:13:14.000 Because they're laughing.

00:13:15.000 It's just great.

00:13:16.000 OK, the virtue signaling was not limited to inside the hall.

00:13:21.000 Natalie Portman decided she was going to virtue signal also.

00:13:24.000 Again, the lack of any sense of reality among these people is insane.

00:13:30.000 These people, they are so brave.

00:13:33.000 The stunningness, the bravery.

00:13:35.000 How could they be so brave and yet so controversial at the same time?

00:13:39.000 Such stunning bravery.

00:13:41.000 Natalie Portman, who is wealthy beyond wealthy.

00:13:44.000 Natalie Portman, who's been given at least one Oscar for Black Swan.

00:13:48.000 So she herself has been heavily rewarded despite, in my opinion, being a wildly overrated actress.

00:13:52.000 In any case, She shows up on the red carpet wearing a cape, but it's not just any cape.

00:13:58.000 It's a cape that is embroidered with female directors. 0.86

00:14:01.000 The names of female directors who are not nominated and therefore are greatly put upon despite the fact that they earn millions of dollars to direct apparently mediocre films.

00:14:08.000 I mean, seriously, the names of the directors that are on there, on her cape, they include the director of Hustlers.

00:14:15.000 Really, does anyone think that Hustlers deserved a Best Director nom this year?

00:14:18.000 Like, does anyone think that Hustlers really, really required a Best Director nomination this year?

00:14:24.000 One of the directors is the director of the Mr. Rogers film.

00:14:28.000 Does anyone think that the Mr. Rogers film deserved a Best Director nomination this year?

00:14:32.000 Does anyone think that Greta Gerwig desperately needed a Best Director nomination after winning a Best Director nomination for Lady Bird?

00:14:38.000 And what exactly are we talking about here?

00:14:40.000 The bottom line is that according to Hollywood, this makes Natalie Portman not have to worry about the fact that she is wealthy and that she has a really easy life. 1.00

00:14:48.000 She is now part of the victimized, right?

00:14:50.000 She's part of the coalition of the dispossessed. 0.97

00:14:53.000 And so the question becomes, dispossessed by whom?

00:14:55.000 So people do this routine, dispossessed by the Academy, because the Academy is the font of all evil. 0.78

00:14:59.000 It's super white.

00:15:00.000 So what does the Academy do?

00:15:01.000 Instead of the Academy making fun of all this nonsense, the Academy jumps right into it and they flagellate themselves.

00:15:07.000 And the Academy brings all these people forward and then they say, look how, look, we know that we've got a problem, guys.

00:15:12.000 We know that we've got a problem.

00:15:14.000 And the first step towards solving a problem is admitting you have a problem and bringing forth people like Natalie Portman, a true victim in American society.

00:15:22.000 When I think victim, I think Natalie Portman, don't you?

00:15:23.000 She lives in France with her husband.

00:15:25.000 I feel really, really terrible for Natalie Portman.

00:15:27.000 It's, it's, and I feel terrible for all those directors who are given millions and millions of dollars to play with to make really, really kind of mediocre films.

00:15:34.000 That's pretty spectacular stuff.

00:15:36.000 At least I will hand it to Joaquin Phoenix. 0.77

00:15:37.000 At least Joaquin Phoenix is crazy.

00:15:39.000 All these other people are pretty much sane. 1.00

00:15:41.000 So, when they do stupid things, then you just make fun of them. 0.98

00:15:44.000 Joaquin Phoenix, I'm not sure whether you're even allowed to make fun of Joaquin Phoenix at this point. 0.98

00:15:49.000 Because, honestly, he sort of morphed into Is he still roleplaying?

00:15:54.000 Is he still just being the Joker?

00:15:56.000 Did he ever get out of the mindset?

00:15:58.000 So Joaquin Phoenix gets up there and he's been going around making these sort of environmentalist statements.

00:16:02.000 He really made a sacrifice for the people this year and for the people of Earth.

00:16:05.000 He only has one tuxedo, Joaquin Phoenix.

00:16:08.000 And he pointed this out, that unlike all these other people who have ten tuxedos, he only has one tuxedo.

00:16:12.000 Just like all the poor people, only have one tuxedo. 1.00

00:16:15.000 If you go below the poverty line, everybody's gonna get a tux.

00:16:17.000 A thousand dollar tux hanging in their closet.

00:16:19.000 In any case, Joaquin Phoenix wins Best Actor for The Joker.

00:16:23.000 And he makes an insane speech about cows and milk.

00:16:25.000 Which is weird, because I recently saw Joaquin Phoenix wearing a vegan t-shirt at a restaurant that serves pretty much only meat.

00:16:32.000 In any case, here's Joaquin Phoenix.

00:16:34.000 True story.

00:16:34.000 Here's Joaquin Phoenix last night at the Oscars.

00:16:37.000 Lecturing us all about speciesism.

00:16:40.000 Speciesism.

00:16:41.000 Which is, again, a real hot take.

00:16:45.000 That really is the tragedy.

00:16:46.000 I mean, truly, Joaquin Phoenix should have shown up with the names of cows embroidered on his tuxedo.

00:16:50.000 Do you mean like Betsy?

00:16:52.000 Old Blue?

00:16:53.000 Right?

00:16:54.000 I mean, they weren't nominated for anything either.

00:16:56.000 These cows that have given us our sustenance?

00:16:58.000 For generations?

00:17:00.000 And not one of them was nominated for an award?

00:17:02.000 Not a single one of them was nominated for an award?

00:17:04.000 Not a single cow?

00:17:06.000 Unbelievable.

00:17:07.000 Here's Joaquin Phoenix explaining to all of us that veganism is the way to go and that basically drinking milk is like you're a Nazi.

00:17:15.000 We go into the natural world and we plunder it for its resources.

00:17:20.000 We feel entitled to artificially inseminate a cow.

00:17:24.000 And when she gives birth, we steal her baby. 0.99

00:17:28.000 Even though her cries of anguish are unmistakable.

00:17:32.000 And then we take her milk, that's intended for her calf, and we put it in our coffee and our cereal.

00:17:37.000 Uh-oh.

00:17:39.000 What?

00:17:40.000 What?

00:17:40.000 No!

00:17:41.000 What?

00:17:43.000 What?

00:17:43.000 No?

00:17:44.000 Like, between... We have to embroider his coat with milk.

00:17:49.000 Like, 2% whole.

00:17:51.000 What the hell is going on here? 0.75

00:17:54.000 What is wrong with you people? 0.99

00:17:56.000 What is wrong with you people?

00:17:57.000 Now listen, if you want to make the case against factory farming, make the case against factory farming, but we artificially inseminate these cows, and then we take her milk, and we use it in our coffee, we use it in our cereal, Yes, we do.

00:18:11.000 That's true.

00:18:13.000 You have scored a point against civilization, Mr. Phoenix.

00:18:16.000 Just, wow, solid.

00:18:18.000 And the crowd gave him a standing ovation for this.

00:18:20.000 All of whom drink milk, by the way.

00:18:22.000 All of whom are engaging in protein consumption.

00:18:24.000 Animal protein consumption.

00:18:25.000 Like, the number of vegans in that room, not that high.

00:18:28.000 But again, it's all about the, we've been lectured, and we know that we've been lectured.

00:18:33.000 This is the new church.

00:18:34.000 It really is.

00:18:34.000 It's a church for folks on the left.

00:18:36.000 And just like a lot of people, Go to church to be lectured by their pastor about all the sins that they've committed the prior weeks that they don't commit those sins again.

00:18:44.000 It's like that at the Oscars.

00:18:45.000 It's the one time they go to church every year.

00:18:47.000 And at that church, they are lectured about their insufficient wokeness.

00:18:50.000 And if they wish to avoid anti-woke hell, then they will have to pay homage and they will have to do confession with Joaquin Phoenix, which is a really weird type of confession.

00:18:58.000 So good stuff over at the Oscars, as per the usual, really in touch with the feelings of most Americans.

00:19:03.000 I think that these people really have a bead on what Americans are feeling.

00:19:07.000 And honestly, I was feeling a little optimistic this year because there were some actual movies that people saw this year, and none of them won any awards.

00:19:12.000 I mean, the ones that actually won awards, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood got completely skunked.

00:19:16.000 Joker won a couple of awards, but Parasite waltzed away with a bunch of these awards, a movie that no American has really ever seen.

00:19:22.000 And again, a class warfare film that would have pleased Bernie Sanders if the rest of the film holds up the way that it's holding up so far, and now we're in.

00:19:29.000 In any case, we'll get to the actual 2020 Democratic race, and I'll explain in just a second why these culture wars actually matter. 0.91

00:19:34.000 Because whenever we sound off about this kind of stuff, people on the left are like, how dare you!

00:19:38.000 You're so triggered by the culture!

00:19:40.000 You're so triggered!

00:19:41.000 Which is gaslighting.

00:19:42.000 Because the reason you do this is because you want attention.

00:19:45.000 You're all the 15-year-old girl who gets her hair put up in some sort of mohawk, and gets a giant nose ring, gets those earrings that, like, stretch out your earlobe, and then you walk around like, why are you looking at me?

00:19:56.000 Why are you looking at me?

00:19:57.000 Why are you- You're the Oscars.

00:19:58.000 That's why we're looking at you.

00:19:59.000 We all get it.

00:20:01.000 We all get that you want attention.

00:20:02.000 So if we give you attention, you don't get to whine about us giving you attention.

00:20:04.000 And if we make fun of you, you don't get to whine about us making fun of you.

00:20:07.000 Of course we're making fun of you. 1.00

00:20:08.000 Because you look like idiots. 1.00

00:20:10.000 You look like a bunch of woke morons who have no actual relationship. 1.00

00:20:13.000 Like, is there a single impoverished person in America who feels better off today because of what was done at the Oscars last night? 1.00

00:20:21.000 Whose pocketbook got thicker last night?

00:20:24.000 Is there a single woman in America who's struggling to make ends meet who is like, yes, slay Queen because female directors weren't winning Oscar noms this year. 1.00

00:20:33.000 Slay Queen Natalie Portman.

00:20:35.000 Who out there felt really emboldened and empowered by that Oscar routine last night?

00:20:39.000 I have a feeling not all that many people.

00:20:41.000 Not all that many people.

00:20:43.000 Except for the Oscar voters who feel really good about themselves because, again, they get to participate in this religious ceremony once a year. 0.97

00:20:48.000 We'll get to more of this in one second.

00:20:49.000 First! 0.83

00:22:18.000 These flowers are the most beautiful flowers in the world.

00:22:20.000 Okay, so what the left will do is whenever a culture war is declared, they say, why is the right so triggered by this?

00:22:25.000 Why are you so upset by this?

00:22:27.000 When you were watching, you didn't have to watch.

00:22:29.000 That's true, I didn't have to watch.

00:22:30.000 And the truth is, I didn't watch part of it.

00:22:32.000 Because, why would I?

00:22:33.000 But, when you declare war in the culture, that stuff has deeper roots.

00:22:38.000 It does.

00:22:38.000 It has these deeper roots.

00:22:39.000 And that was not the only... Again, it was a theme throughout the night.

00:22:43.000 Never has anybody gotten up at the Oscars and just given like a basic American tribute.

00:22:47.000 It's been years.

00:22:48.000 We actually had a full-on communist tribute last night.

00:22:50.000 The producers of Best Documentary got up there and actually cited Karl Marx on the stage, which is really rich because, again, these people are all really rich.

00:22:57.000 Here are some of the people who made the Best Documentary feature, literally quoting Karl Marx.

00:23:03.000 Working people have it harder and harder these days.

00:23:08.000 And we believe that things will get better when workers of the world unite.

00:23:18.000 Workers of the world unite.

00:23:19.000 Literally quoting Karl Marx from a stage where everybody is worth a fortune.

00:23:24.000 Most Americans are not going to be up for this.

00:23:26.000 But this does have some pretty significant cultural ramifications and it's carried over into the Democratic Party.

00:23:32.000 Because the Oscars are writ small what the Democratic Party is writ large.

00:23:36.000 They're an American industry, a classically American industry.

00:23:38.000 Typically the face to the world.

00:23:40.000 And they used to be fairly pro-America, and now they've become the repository of all things woke.

00:23:45.000 And all of the sort of normal people in Hollywood have been cowed into silence.

00:23:49.000 Everybody in Hollywood is now Tom Hanks with regard to Janelle Monáe, just sitting there trying to bop along with the beat, not understanding what the hell is going on. 0.81

00:23:56.000 And that's what's happening in the Democratic Party too, where Bernie Sanders has the mic.

00:23:59.000 Where Ta-Nehisi Coates has the mic.

00:24:01.000 Where the woke left of the party has the mic.

00:24:04.000 And now they are attempting to cudgel everyone else into silence with the accusation that if you do not go along with their extraordinarily far-left agenda, then therefore, you are part of the problem.

00:24:15.000 You're an accessory to the crime after the fact.

00:24:18.000 And this is the fight that's going on inside the Democratic Party.

00:24:20.000 It's part of the fight that's going on inside the country at large right now is that there is a small contingent of people in the United States who believe that the United States is responsible for nearly every evil in American society and world society.

00:24:31.000 A contingent of people who believe that Americans are sinners, brutal, egregious sinners against the environment, against minorities, against poor people.

00:24:39.000 And that if you disagree with that, you better keep your mouth shut. 0.97

00:24:42.000 That was the Oscars, and that's the impression that I think a lot of Americans are getting of the Oscars, and that's why they're like, okay, screw this. 0.84

00:24:47.000 Trump hates the Oscars?

00:24:48.000 Like, if Ricky Gervais were on the ballot, they'd vote for Ricky Gervais.

00:24:51.000 Who, by the way, had a great tweet last night.

00:24:53.000 He was asked specifically what he would have said at the Oscars if he were the Oscar opener.

00:24:56.000 He said, I'm glad that you all decided to give three hours of sleep to your underpaid foreign maid. 1.00

00:25:01.000 Which is exactly right.

00:25:03.000 Exactly right.

00:25:03.000 All these people will go home to their underpaid nannies from foreign countries, who they're making movies about their victimization, and who they thrust their kids off upon.

00:25:12.000 They'll go back home to those people, and then they will treat them like dirt. 1.00

00:25:15.000 Because the truth is that the upper-class villains in Parasite are more like the people in Hollywood than the lower-class heroes of Parasite.

00:25:25.000 Okay, so meanwhile, over in the 2020 Democratic race, as I say, the Oscars are sort of a very microcosmic version of the 2020 Democratic race.

00:25:34.000 And you can see all of the socialism versus non-socialism breaking out into the open.

00:25:38.000 All the candidates are now going after each other brutally.

00:25:42.000 Then the most humorous moment over the weekend.

00:25:43.000 So the Democrats had this final debate before New Hampshire.

00:25:46.000 New Hampshire is stacking up like another Bernie Sanders win, although Pete Buttigieg has made some significant gains, really at the expense of Joe Biden.

00:25:53.000 According to the latest polling data from New Hampshire, Sanders remains up, and he remains up fairly significantly, but the real story is not where Sanders is, it's where Biden is.

00:26:01.000 Biden has dropped almost down into single digits, according to the latest polling average.

00:26:05.000 The latest polling average has Bernie Sanders at 28.5, Pete Buttigieg at 22, Elizabeth Warren at 12, Biden at 11, and Klobuchar at 11.

00:26:13.000 He has nearly dropped into fifth place in New Hampshire, according to the polling average.

00:26:16.000 This is somebody who's running second or first in many of the polls just six weeks ago.

00:26:21.000 So Biden has completely collapsed.

00:26:22.000 Buttigieg has picked up some of that support.

00:26:24.000 Sanders is riding exactly where Sanders has been riding the whole time.

00:26:28.000 The conventional wisdom was that at some point, Bernie Sanders' support would bleed away.

00:26:33.000 To some other candidate who could cross over between the socialist base and the non-socialist base.

00:26:38.000 As it turns out, Bernie is absolutely rock solid, and it's Biden's support that has bled away to other candidates, including Pete Buttigieg.

00:26:45.000 But what really has happened here is that the Democratic Party is Tom Hanks in that Oscars clip.

00:26:49.000 The Democratic Party is sitting there and they don't know what to do as they are lectured on their own lack of wokeness.

00:26:53.000 So, at the debate on Friday night, all the Democratic candidates were asked about having a Democratic Socialist at the top of the ticket.

00:27:00.000 This is clip 23.

00:27:01.000 And they're asked, do any of you raise your hand if you think it's a problem having a democratic socialist at the top of the ticket?

00:27:06.000 And watch as all of these candidates basically stand there and do nothing.

00:27:10.000 Amy Klobuchar gradually raises her hand before she realizes she's not supposed to raise her hand. 0.96

00:27:17.000 Is anyone else on the stage concerned about having a democratic socialist at the top of the democratic ticket?

00:27:25.000 Okay, and Amy Klobuchar hesitates, and then she gradually raises her hand.

00:27:30.000 Now, why isn't every hand going up?

00:27:31.000 Literally everyone on the stage, except for Bernie Sanders, has expressed that they are unhappy with the idea of having a Democratic Socialist at the top of the ticket.

00:27:38.000 The reason they're not raising their hands is because they're all afraid Bernie's going to win the nomination, and then that's going to be a campaign ad.

00:27:43.000 Every single Democrat raising their hand, except for Bernie, talking about how Socialism should not be at the top of the ticket.

00:27:48.000 They're all dishonest. 0.95

00:27:49.000 They're radically dishonest.

00:27:50.000 Joe Biden, who did not raise his hand there, he did not raise his hand.

00:27:54.000 He was asked.

00:27:55.000 About socialism.

00:27:56.000 And he's been going around at rallies and saying, listen, we can't defend socialism at the top of the ticket.

00:28:00.000 This is not something that we can do.

00:28:03.000 Florida win with the label Democratic Socialist?

00:28:06.000 Because everybody's going to go all the way down the line.

00:28:08.000 That's just going to happen.

00:28:09.000 You're going to win in North Carolina.

00:28:10.000 You're going to win in Pennsylvania.

00:28:12.000 You're going to win in those states in the Midwest.

00:28:14.000 It's not... I'm not... I didn't put the label on Bernie.

00:28:17.000 Bernie calls himself a Democratic Socialist.

00:28:21.000 So you think flat out Democrats can't defeat Trump if they have to defend socialism?

00:28:26.000 I think it's going to be incredibly more difficult.

00:28:28.000 Okay, Bernie Sanders, for his part, he's saying, on the one hand, he's not really a socialist, on the other hand, Americans love socialism, so Bernie Sanders, over the weekend, he said he was not advocating a U.S.

00:28:37.000 government takeover of the healthcare system, so he's gonna have to explain what the hell Medicare for All is.

00:28:40.000 I mean, that is literally a government takeover of the U.S.

00:28:43.000 healthcare system, but here is Bernie trying to explain why it's not.

00:28:45.000 I'm advocating for the empowerment of the U.S.

00:28:49.000 government to take over the entire healthcare system.

00:28:52.000 This, just optically, looks like the party can't run its own caucus.

00:28:59.000 Margaret, that's not a true statement.

00:29:01.000 I'm not advocating for the United States government to take over the healthcare system.

00:29:05.000 What I am advocating for is an expansion of Medicare.

00:29:09.000 Medicare exists.

00:29:10.000 Right.

00:29:11.000 I want to expand it over a four-year period.

00:29:12.000 Which would be administered by the U.S.

00:29:13.000 government.

00:29:15.000 And your administration if you win.

00:29:15.000 Precisely.

00:29:16.000 Just as Medicare is right now.

00:29:18.000 But it's not a takeover.

00:29:21.000 Yes, it is.

00:29:22.000 Medicare is a portion of the U.S.

00:29:23.000 healthcare system.

00:29:24.000 It's not the entire U.S.

00:29:25.000 healthcare system.

00:29:26.000 That's like saying that if you wanted to nationalize FedEx, that wouldn't be a government takeover of the mail system because the U.S.

00:29:32.000 Postal Service already exists.

00:29:33.000 No, it would absolutely be a takeover of the U.S.

00:29:36.000 mail system.

00:29:37.000 Like, what the hell are you talking about?

00:29:39.000 Bernie isn't even coherent, but at least he's coherent when he calls for socialism, right?

00:29:42.000 Bernie says Americans want socialism.

00:29:44.000 They're desperate for socialism.

00:29:45.000 They don't even know what they want.

00:29:47.000 I want pudding and I want socialism.

00:29:49.000 I've got two things to do.

00:29:52.000 Socialism and pudding and I'm all out of pudding.

00:29:54.000 Americans also are out of pudding.

00:29:56.000 They would like pudding.

00:29:57.000 Socialism for all.

00:30:00.000 The truth is that our agenda is precisely the agenda that the overwhelming majority of the American people want.

00:30:05.000 At the end of the day, the American people want to raise the minimum wage to 15 bucks an hour.

00:30:10.000 They want to make public colleges and universities tuition-free and cancel student debt by a modest tax on Wall Street speculation.

00:30:18.000 The American people understand healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.

00:30:22.000 The function of health care is not to make a hundred billion dollars for the drug companies and the insurance companies.

00:30:27.000 The American people understand we have got to deal with the existential threat of climate change.

00:30:32.000 Our agenda is the agenda of working class and middle class Americans.

00:30:37.000 Again, he's promoting it out there, right?

00:30:39.000 And then he said socialism isn't all that radical over the weekend as well, Bernie.

00:30:42.000 Because it's not.

00:30:43.000 It's not radical anymore.

00:30:44.000 Apparently it's mainstream.

00:30:46.000 Four years ago, when I was here, campaigning, many of the ideas that we talked about, raising the minimum wage to a living wage of 15 bucks an hour, those ideas then were considered radical.

00:31:04.000 You know what?

00:31:04.000 They're not radical today.

00:31:06.000 Seven states have passed a $15 an hour minimum wage.

00:31:10.000 Okay, so I'm just gonna remind you.

00:31:11.000 I'm just gonna remind you here.

00:31:13.000 Every Democrat, except for Amy Klobuchar, kept their hands down when asked if it was a problem to have a socialist at the top of the ticket.

00:31:19.000 And virtually every Democrat on that stage has said openly it is a problem to have a socialist at the top of the ticket.

00:31:24.000 Pete Buttigieg, who is wildly dishonest, he said it'll be hard to defend socialism.

00:31:29.000 He said it's going to be hard to defend socialism.

00:31:30.000 He said this over the weekend, but he wouldn't raise his hand on that stage, would he?

00:31:33.000 Do you believe that the Democrats can defeat Donald Trump if they have to defend socialism?

00:31:37.000 I think it'll be a lot harder, but the bigger concern that I have is further dividing the country.

00:31:44.000 You know, when the campaign says that either you're for a revolution or you must be for the status quo, most of us don't see where we fit in that picture. 0.99

00:31:54.000 So he's ripping on the Bernie Sanders socialism too, but none of them have the stones to actually just say to Bernie, no, this is a bunch of crap, and what you're promoting here is a bunch of garbage. 0.98

00:32:02.000 And so instead, they've all been hijacked. 0.99

00:32:04.000 And they're supposed to be grateful for the hijacking, right?

00:32:07.000 They're supposed to be grateful to Bernie.

00:32:08.000 And it's the Oscars crowd trying to bop along to Janelle Monae.

00:32:12.000 That's all this is.

00:32:13.000 That's all this is.

00:32:14.000 And it's hilarious.

00:32:15.000 It is indeed hilarious.

00:32:16.000 Now, they've all opened up their guns on each other.

00:32:18.000 And that too is hilarious.

00:32:19.000 We're going to get to the drama of Joe Biden, who is just falling apart, but also smacking Pete Buttigieg and properly.

00:32:20.000 the drama of Joe Biden, who is just falling apart, but also smacking Pete Buttigieg and properly.

00:35:20.000 2020.

00:35:21.000 We are the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.

00:35:24.000 So as you may notice, the Circular Firing Squad has now opened, but not to the extent that anybody's actually going to call out Bernie Sanders on stage for being a socialist.

00:35:38.000 You Instead, it is Joe Biden going after Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg.

00:35:41.000 And you got Pete Buttigieg going after Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden, and Amy Klobuchar standing off to the side and going, why not me?

00:35:46.000 I'm the only person here who's won in a purple state.

00:35:49.000 What the hell, guys?

00:35:50.000 That's pretty much how things are going.

00:35:51.000 The big story, of course, is the collapse of Joe Biden, who was the wire-to-wire frontrunner in your Democratic race, but is now beginning to fall apart, and he is getting desperate.

00:36:00.000 Now, the reason he's falling apart is because, unfortunately for Joe Biden, Joe Biden is Joe Biden, the big headline out of the weekend was Joe Biden calling a skeptical voter a lying dog-faced pony soldier, which is one hell of a diss.

00:36:12.000 I mean, spitting hot fire like Eminem up there on that Oscars stage.

00:36:17.000 Apparently he's dropped this line before.

00:36:18.000 Apparently it's a quote from a John Wayne movie.

00:36:20.000 But this is the problem for Joe Biden is every frame of reference he has is from 1962.

00:36:25.000 So here is Joe Biden dropping a very, very odd line at a woman in New Hampshire.

00:36:33.000 I was a Democratic caucus.

00:36:36.000 You ever been to a caucus?

00:36:38.000 No, you haven't. 1.00

00:36:39.000 You're a lying dog-faced pony soldier. 0.99

00:36:41.000 You said you were, but now you got to be honest. 1.00

00:36:43.000 I'm going to be honest with you.

00:36:45.000 It was a little bit confusing in Iowa.

00:36:48.000 The lion dog face pony soldier, Joe Biden, straight from 1962.

00:36:53.000 Also, he left his brain there because he's just saying weird things all the time.

00:36:57.000 He said he's losing track of time in the middle of his speech.

00:37:00.000 He does this in debates also.

00:37:01.000 He'll be like, I guess, I guess I'm out of time.

00:37:03.000 And then he'll just kind of slow randomly to a stop.

00:37:05.000 Here he was yesterday saying he was losing track of time.

00:37:07.000 Again, all this is a really good look for a guy who's approaching one million years old.

00:37:11.000 He doesn't even talk about it.

00:37:13.000 We don't even, we don't have a discussion about it.

00:37:16.000 I was introduced in, I guess it was four, five, six days ago.

00:37:21.000 I can't even remember now.

00:37:21.000 I'm losing track of time.

00:37:24.000 By a woman named Chrissy.

00:37:25.000 I was in Concord.

00:37:26.000 What's he talking about?

00:37:27.000 And why?

00:37:28.000 And whom?

00:37:29.000 Also, he doesn't know what kind of shotgun he owns.

00:37:30.000 Apparently he owns a 20-gauge, but no, a 12-gauge, but no, a 10-gauge, but no, an 8-gauge.

00:37:34.000 Just keeps decreasing until he owns a negative 4-gauge shotgun.

00:37:37.000 Here's Joe Biden explaining his gun ownership.

00:37:40.000 There is a second amendment, and you do have a right to bear arms, but not an unlimited right.

00:37:45.000 No amendment is absolute.

00:37:48.000 I own a 20-gauge shotgun.

00:37:49.000 I own a 12-gauge shotgun.

00:37:51.000 I'll answer your question in a minute, sir.

00:37:52.000 I own a 20-gauge and a 10-gauge shotgun.

00:37:55.000 I just skeet shoot.

00:37:56.000 I don't even hunt.

00:37:57.000 Well, okay.

00:37:58.000 Again, he's just, he's so out of it at this point.

00:38:01.000 And is it any wonder he, I mean, Bernie has energy.

00:38:04.000 Communism comes with the life altering ability to suck energy from everyone else.

00:38:09.000 So he's just been living off everybody else's energy, apparently.

00:38:11.000 But the one thing that Biden is saying correctly is that Pete Buttigieg is not a viable candidate for the Democratic nomination, which is pretty much correct.

00:38:19.000 I mean, Pete Buttigieg Conventional wisdom says he has very little ground support outside of the early states.

00:38:25.000 New Hampshire and Iowa are disproportionately white.

00:38:28.000 This is where Pete Buttigieg is likely to have most of his momentum.

00:38:31.000 Once you get down south, Pete Buttigieg is in real trouble.

00:38:34.000 Biden says Buttigieg has no support in the black community.

00:38:36.000 And this, of course, is true by polling data.

00:38:38.000 Mayor Pete likes to say the only time Democrats win the presidency is when we nominate someone new.

00:38:44.000 But here's what he never mentions.

00:38:47.000 The only Democrats to win the presidency is where we have overwhelming support from the African-American community.

00:38:54.000 And don't take it for granted.

00:38:56.000 And that, of course, is also true.

00:38:57.000 And then he put out an ad slamming Mayor Pete.

00:38:59.000 He says, listen, while I was vice president of the United States, this dude was having trouble cleaning dog poop off sidewalks in South Bend, Indiana.

00:39:05.000 Here's the ad that Biden cut pretty brutal.

00:39:07.000 Both Vice President Biden and former Mayor Pete have helped shape our economy.

00:39:12.000 Joe Biden helped save the auto industry, which revitalized the economy of the Midwest, and led the passage and implementation of the Recovery Act, saving our economy from a depression.

00:39:23.000 Pete Buttigieg revitalized the sidewalks of downtown South Bend by laying out decorative brick.

00:39:31.000 That's pretty brutal and pretty true.

00:39:33.000 Biden himself went after Mayor Petey said, what have you ever done exactly?

00:39:37.000 Like, why are you here exactly?

00:39:40.000 Why is nominating Pete Buttigieg a risk?

00:39:43.000 Well, because Pete Buttigieg has been nothing more.

00:39:45.000 And he's a good guy.

00:39:46.000 I like him.

00:39:46.000 And he's a smart guy.

00:39:48.000 But he's been the mayor of a city smaller than the city we're in now.

00:39:52.000 And so what has he done?

00:39:53.000 What is who is he pulled together?

00:39:55.000 Does he know any of the foreign leaders?

00:39:56.000 Has he been able to I mean, Barack Obama was a different story.

00:39:59.000 Barack Obama came from a large state.

00:40:01.000 He was a United States senator.

00:40:02.000 He had run before.

00:40:03.000 He'd been involved in international... He had a clear vision of what he thought the world should look like, and so on.

00:40:10.000 But it's a very different situation.

00:40:12.000 Okay, there are actually a couple of real distinctions between Barack Obama as a candidate and Pete Buttigieg.

00:40:16.000 Pete Buttigieg is more like John Edwards a little bit than he is like Barack Obama, in the sense that John Edwards was also a, I believe, first-term senator when he was nominated vice president by John Kerry, and then he'd run for vice president when he ran again in 2008.

00:40:29.000 Pete Buttigieg is the mayor of a small town in Indiana.

00:40:31.000 He's never won more than, I believe, 8,000 votes in his mayoral election.

00:40:35.000 And when he ran statewide against Richard Murdoch, he got skunked, like 72% against 28% or something.

00:40:41.000 Amy Klobuchar said the same thing.

00:40:43.000 She says, listen, we can't nominate Buttigieg.

00:40:44.000 I mean, what are we messing around here?

00:40:46.000 Like, why are we, why are we even talking about this?

00:40:47.000 This is crazy.

00:40:49.000 I just think we can't mess around here.

00:40:52.000 And we need a leader that brings the receipts.

00:40:54.000 Someone that has won in the reddest of red areas, not just talk about it.

00:40:59.000 And I have done that consistently.

00:41:01.000 And when I think about New Hampshire, I think about the fact that in 2016, Hillary only won by 2,000 votes.

00:41:09.000 And you see these other states, as you know, like Pennsylvania and Michigan and Wisconsin.

00:41:14.000 This, of course, is correct as well.

00:41:16.000 Now, Buttigieg, for his part, is fighting back against Biden.

00:41:19.000 He's saying, yeah, sure, I'm no Barack Obama, but neither is Joe Biden, which, again, is a fair critique.

00:41:24.000 I mean, Joe Biden was his vice president, and Pete Buttigieg is the mayor of a town that is smaller than my neighborhood.

00:41:29.000 But still, he's not wrong that Biden ain't Obama.

00:41:34.000 He says, and this is his quote, he's no Barack Obama.

00:41:39.000 Well, he's right.

00:41:40.000 I'm not.

00:41:40.000 And neither is he.

00:41:42.000 Neither is any of us.

00:41:43.000 And this isn't 2008.

00:41:43.000 This is 2020.

00:41:45.000 This is about how we're going to turn the page and deliver a better future in the country.

00:41:51.000 Okay, that is a lackluster answer at best.

00:41:54.000 Here's the problem for Buttigieg.

00:41:55.000 Buttigieg is very smooth.

00:41:56.000 He's got no record.

00:41:57.000 He can't defend his lack of record.

00:41:59.000 And also, Pete Buttigieg is... I think people are going to get the general impression that he is dishonest, because people try to portray him as though he is a moderate, and he is not actually a moderate.

00:42:08.000 Again, Pete Buttigieg was defending late-term abortion again over the weekend.

00:42:11.000 I mean, this is the most radical position in the Democratic Party platform.

00:42:13.000 He was sitting with NARAL Pro-Choice America, which is the wild anti-life organization.

00:42:20.000 And here is Pete Buttigieg explaining again why he's in favor of late-term abortion being available.

00:42:24.000 Usually we're talking about cases where, by definition, if it's late-term, a parent, a family, a woman is expecting to carry a pregnancy to term and then gets devastating medical news.

00:42:38.000 Something about the life or health of the mother or the fetus that creates an unthinkable decision.

00:42:48.000 And in those situations, what we know is that decision will not be made any better medically or morally.

00:42:56.000 because it is being dictated by some government official.

00:42:59.000 This is the answer he keeps on giving, and he's basically just allowing late-term abortion to go forward, which is the most radical position in American politics on all of this.

00:43:06.000 By the way, while he claims he's anti-socialism, he's also ripping into Bernie for being too rich.

00:43:10.000 So again, he's trying to have it both ways.

00:43:12.000 Bernie, for his part, did slam Buttigieg.

00:43:15.000 He says, listen, this guy keeps claiming that he is some sort of man of the people.

00:43:18.000 He's doing wine cave fundraisers among billionaires.

00:43:22.000 Here's Bernie slamming Buttigieg.

00:43:24.000 Again, Bernie's more authentic than Buttigieg is for sure.

00:43:26.000 I do not believe that the that any group, our revolution or anybody else, should be raising money from wealthy people.

00:43:34.000 And I'm not asking for their health.

00:43:36.000 They legally can do what they want to do because you have a corrupt political system.

00:43:39.000 But I would also point out that I'm running against a candidate, Pete Buttigieg, among others, who has raised contributions from more than 40 billionaires, including the CEOs of some of the largest drug companies in America. including the CEOs of some of the largest drug companies Okay, what he's saying right there is true.

00:43:59.000 Buttigieg's response is, yeah, well, Bernie has a lake house.

00:44:02.000 Which, okay, except that you're supposed to be the man of principle when it comes to these sorts of issues, right?

00:44:08.000 Buttigieg is happy to take that money because that's where he's getting the money, right?

00:44:10.000 He doesn't have a movement like Bernie.

00:44:12.000 He doesn't have any support outside of basically college-educated white people, right?

00:44:16.000 That is the center of Pete Buttigieg's support base.

00:44:18.000 Middle-class people, lower-class people in terms of income, they are not Pete Buttigieg fans.

00:44:22.000 Here is Pete Buttigieg hitting Sanders for being too rich, but this isn't going to play.

00:44:27.000 Bernie's pretty rich and I would happily accept a contribution from him.

00:44:30.000 Look, this is about making sure we bring everybody into the fight at a moment when we're going to be going up against Donald Trump, who with his allies are raising, I think the other day they raised 25 million bucks in one day.

00:44:44.000 This is the fight of our lives.

00:44:46.000 I'm not a fan of the current campaign finance system, but I'm also insistent that we've got to go into this with all of the support we can get.

00:44:55.000 He is so wildly dishonest.

00:44:56.000 And here is the problem for the Democrats.

00:44:58.000 So here's what the race is coming down to at this point.

00:45:00.000 Biden is fading really, really horribly.

00:45:02.000 There's a good shot that he finishes fifth in New Hampshire, which is disastrous for him.

00:45:05.000 Unless he has expended every iota of cash he has in Nevada, unless he wins Nevada, he is toast.

00:45:10.000 And if he loses Nevada, and if Bernie wins Nevada, if Bernie wins Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada, Bernie's the nominee.

00:45:15.000 If Bernie wins Iowa, New Hampshire, and he finishes second to Biden in Nevada, Then he still has a decent shot at the nomination because again, all of these delegates are proportionately split across the states.

00:45:25.000 Meanwhile, one of these quote-unquote moderates is trying to rise up and take the Joe Biden mantle.

00:45:30.000 If that's Pete Buttigieg, you really think that Pete Buttigieg is going to out-earn Bernie Sanders with black voters in South Carolina?

00:45:36.000 That's not a thing that's going to happen.

00:45:37.000 Bernie Sanders has been exposed to those voters for a very long time.

00:45:40.000 Pete Buttigieg is widely perceived as an upper-class white person.

00:45:44.000 And the fact that he is not rich is mainly a function of the fact that he left McKinsey and decided to go into politics.

00:45:49.000 We all know that the minute that Pete Buttigieg leaves politics, he will be extraordinarily wealthy again.

00:45:53.000 The chance that Pete Buttigieg is going to be worth not a lot of money at age 60 are zero.

00:45:57.000 Pete Buttigieg will be worth a fortune.

00:45:59.000 And everybody knows that.

00:46:01.000 So the Pete Buttigieg replacement of Joe Biden at the top of the sort of moderate wing of the Democratic Party is uncomfortable at best.

00:46:08.000 The best replacement for Joe Biden at the top of that Democratic Party sort of moderate wing Would be Amy Klobuchar, but Klobuchar can't buy attention. 1.00

00:46:17.000 Which is wild, again, because I think that Klobuchar is the most electable of these Democrats.

00:46:21.000 If you were going to take any of these Democrats and put them up against Trump, Klobuchar would be the one.

00:46:25.000 Klobuchar does not off-put people.

00:46:27.000 She would win suburban women running away. 0.99

00:46:30.000 She is more moderate on a lot of the key issues than these other Democrats are.

00:46:34.000 She openly speaks out against socialism.

00:46:36.000 Like, she'd be very difficult for Donald Trump to beat in a lot of these swing states, Amy Klobuchar. 0.77

00:46:40.000 She's the person who would be most dangerous to Trump, probably, in a national election.

00:46:44.000 But Bloomberg, here's the problem, here's what happened, it's so weird in this race.

00:46:47.000 Early on, the question was going to be, there were really a couple of different lanes in the Democratic Party.

00:46:53.000 And we had suggested maybe three lanes.

00:46:54.000 There was the intersectional lane, that was going to be filled by Kamala Harris and Cory Booker.

00:46:57.000 And that lane started to fall apart pretty quickly because nobody from the intersectional lane could buy a ticket in the other two lanes.

00:47:04.000 The other two lanes were the so-called moderate wing of the Democratic Party.

00:47:06.000 That was Klobuchar and Biden.

00:47:08.000 And Biden was dominating that wing, and he was shutting people out.

00:47:11.000 And then there was this third wing, and the third wing was Sanders and Warren.

00:47:14.000 So the grand assumption is that somebody from that middle wing of the Democratic Party was going to reach out to the intersectional wing or reach out to the socialist wing, and that a crossover candidate from that middle wing was going to have the best shot at winning the Democratic Party nomination.

00:47:26.000 Instead, as it turns out, because Biden had really closed the door to so many people in that middle wing because he had been this very weak frontrunner, but he'd been prohibiting anybody from rising.

00:47:35.000 As he collapsed, it turns out that people rushed into that middle wing and the only person who is left in that far left wing is Bernie.

00:47:41.000 As soon as Elizabeth Warren imploded, then Bernie became the only person left standing in the wing.

00:47:47.000 The domination of that wing meant he only had to reach over a little bit into the intersectional wing or the moderate wing and pick up just enough votes to win the nomination.

00:47:53.000 So right now, Bernie Sanders is indeed the frontrunner in this race.

00:47:57.000 And that's bad news for him because guess what?

00:47:58.000 Every bad thing he ever said is going to come up in this election, and he's going to get asked about it, and his answers are insufficient.

00:48:03.000 So he was asked by Jake Tapper about his past comments on things like wage caps.

00:48:08.000 And Bernie Sanders gets mad about this because he has never been willing to answer questions about all of the dumb things that he has said in the past.

00:48:13.000 Here's Bernie Sanders.

00:48:14.000 Early in your political career, way back in 1974, you said that it should be illegal to earn more money than someone could spend in his or her lifetime.

00:48:22.000 You proposed a maximum wage cap on the highest earners.

00:48:27.000 What year was that?

00:48:28.000 It was 45 years ago.

00:48:29.000 Look, Jake, in all due respect, that was seven years before I was alive.

00:48:34.000 Did you go back to my third grade essay when I was in PS 197 about what I said?

00:48:38.000 You were a grown man in your thirties.

00:48:41.000 Yeah, but that was 50 years ago.

00:48:44.000 Let's talk about my mayor's record, where I was a transformative mayor, re-elected three times.

00:48:49.000 You know, we could go back to things that I said in the 70s.

00:48:52.000 I don't think it's productive.

00:48:53.000 Oh, but it is productive.

00:48:54.000 And the reason it's productive is because he has never disassociated from anything he said back in the 70s.

00:48:58.000 I also love the conflict of Bernie Sanders saying, let's talk about my mayor records, my mayor's record back in the 70s, but nothing I said back in the 70s.

00:49:04.000 Bottom line right now is that no one appears able to stop Bernie Sanders.

00:49:08.000 No one appears able to stop Bernie Sanders because no one has the stones to stand up to Bernie Sanders in the same way that nobody has the stones at the Oscars to just say the best picture should win, and the best director should win, and the best actress should win, and the best actor should win, and we should all stop with this sort of woke scolding. 0.99

00:49:21.000 It's really irritating and stupid. 0.99

00:49:23.000 Nobody has the stones to stand up to Bernie and say, what you are saying is crazy. 1.00

00:49:26.000 No one has the stones to actually go full James Carville and say, you guys are way off the rails here.

00:49:31.000 Way off the rails.

00:49:32.000 And so Bernie is likely to be the nominee.

00:49:35.000 And the media, by the way, is completely panicked about this because they're beginning to realize just what a disaster this is.

00:49:40.000 Rahm Emanuel, who's Obama's chief of staff, he says, listen, Donald Trump would crush any of these people. 0.94

00:49:44.000 Right after the debate, he looks around and goes, we are screwed. 0.85

00:49:47.000 We're in serious trouble.

00:49:49.000 There were flashes of strength, flashes where people had some wobbly moments in answering questions.

00:49:56.000 But you have to basically close your eyes, see them on a stage with Trump, and say, who really looked like they were going to go mano-a-mano, toe-to-toe?

00:50:04.000 Because he's a vicious debater.

00:50:06.000 We saw what he did with Hillary.

00:50:07.000 And so that's my concern as a Democrat, is we're not there yet, and we have a ways to go.

00:50:13.000 Hey, this is correct.

00:50:14.000 This is correct.

00:50:15.000 Everybody's starting to panic inside the Democratic Party, and they should.

00:50:17.000 Okay, time for a quick thing that I like, and then a quick thing that I hate.

00:50:21.000 So, things that I like.

00:50:22.000 So, I talked about how my wife and I are watching cheesy 1990s action flicks.

00:50:25.000 The peak cheesy 1990s action flick is, of course, Con Air.

00:50:29.000 The reason this is peak is because it is Jerry Bruckheimer just blowing things up.

00:50:32.000 Basically, every five minutes there's an explosion for no reason.

00:50:36.000 For some reason, the world is just filled with unbelievably flammable material.

00:50:39.000 It is also full Nicolas Cage, with like the southern accent and the long hair and everything.

00:50:45.000 John Malkovich is great, because John Malkovich is great in anything, and he's terrific on screen.

00:50:50.000 And Steve Buscemi shows up to be real weird.

00:50:53.000 It's pretty fantastic. 0.90

00:50:54.000 Here's a little bit of the trailer for Con Air, if you're looking for a dumb action movie tonight.

00:50:58.000 Welcome to Con Air.

00:51:00.000 Jailbird One, you are not cleared for takeoff.

00:51:02.000 Ain't nobody on this aircraft gives a flyer.

00:51:06.000 The issue here is how the plane is brought down. 0.75

00:51:08.000 Shoot it down. 0.59

00:51:09.000 There are innocent people up there! 0.88

00:51:10.000 He's got a little girl to come home to.

00:51:12.000 He's been waiting for this day for eight years.

00:51:14.000 It's so great.

00:51:14.000 The Nicholas is a fading hairline, but he's got the long hair like a 1970s rocker.

00:51:19.000 This summer, check your weapons.

00:51:22.000 It's so spectacular, this movie.

00:51:24.000 It's so bad and so good at the same time.

00:51:26.000 All you have to know about this movie is understand that the movie opens with Nicolas Cage, who is a former, basically, Special Forces, Navy SEAL guy.

00:51:37.000 He comes home and he's seeing his wife for the first time in years, right?

00:51:41.000 Or at least in months.

00:51:42.000 He goes to a bar, he wants to dance with her, and three drunk truckers decide to confront him and rip the medals off his shoulder for no reason at all.

00:51:49.000 He then gets in a fight with them, right?

00:51:51.000 They attack him with a knife, and he kills one of them.

00:51:53.000 And then, he is sentenced to ten years in prison for this.

00:51:55.000 Why?

00:51:56.000 Because the judge says, in the dialogue, the judge literally says in the dialogue, that the rules do not apply in the same way to people who are in the military, because their hands are like deadly weapons.

00:52:06.000 Okay, which, by the way, as a lawyer, that's not a real thing.

00:52:08.000 Like, at all. 0.99

00:52:09.000 But it's a spectacularly dumb movie. 0.99

00:52:12.000 Pretty fun to watch. 0.99

00:52:13.000 You can check out Kanye.

00:52:13.000 Okay, other things that I like.

00:52:15.000 So AOC demonstrating why she has an econ degree from Boston University.

00:52:18.000 She was speaking over the weekend about economics and she somehow came up with an economist named Milton Keynes, which is weird.

00:52:28.000 So here is AOC talking about the well-known economist Milton Keynes, which is sort of like the well-known economist Frederick Marx.

00:52:38.000 Here she is.

00:52:40.000 I was just reading today about how Milton Keynes, a famous economist back in the day, predicted that by 2030, U.S.

00:52:46.000 GDP would grow six to eight times what it is, which would allow for everyday people to work 15 hours a week.

00:52:53.000 So the thing about that is that Keynes' predictions weren't completely wrong.

00:52:59.000 So fresh.

00:53:00.000 So face.

00:53:01.000 Incredible freshness and faceness.

00:53:03.000 Milton Keynes.

00:53:04.000 Solid stuff there.

00:53:05.000 That wasn't the best part of her little Instagram fest over the weekend.

00:53:08.000 She also had on her boyfriend, Riley Roberts, to discuss how white people can combat racism, which is just, again, everything that is wrong with the Democratic Party and the Oscars in one little clip here.

00:53:20.000 I think one of the effective ways is just to talk and kind of help teach them about why some of the things they believe or say or think are wrong.

00:53:29.000 Not necessarily racist, but that they're wrong.

00:53:32.000 And that'll sort of like chip away and contribute to some development in this area, but not necessarily take somebody from being a racist to not being a racist in one conversation.

00:53:45.000 And it's just always being open to learning about racist things that we may have said or done without judgment and defensiveness.

00:53:55.000 And later he's like, oh god, I'm gonna get lectured, aren't I?

00:53:57.000 I answered that question wrong and AOC's gonna lecture me about my internalized racism, isn't she? 0.94

00:54:01.000 It's just gonna be so awkward.

00:54:02.000 It's gonna be so awkward and I'm gonna have to sit there like Tom Hanks while AOC raps at me.

00:54:06.000 It's gonna be weird.

00:54:07.000 She's gonna put on like a weird flowery coat thing and she's gonna yell at me about how I'm not woke enough. 1.00

00:54:11.000 It's gotta be strange being on the left, really, and being lectured about your own wokeness while you're not woke enough, but you are.

00:54:17.000 You're woker than the right. 0.99

00:54:18.000 I mean, at least you're not a right-winger, but you're not woke enough. 0.86

00:54:20.000 And you just spend all day thinking about your own racial sins.

00:54:25.000 Spectacular stuff.

00:54:26.000 Okay, I think we've run out of time for things that I hate.

00:54:28.000 Plus, there were a lot of things that I hate today anyway.

00:54:30.000 So, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.

00:54:33.000 Otherwise, we'll see you here tomorrow as we approach the New Hampshire primaries.

00:54:37.000 Bernie Sanders in the lead, Pete Buttigieg quick on his heels.

00:54:40.000 And Joe Biden way the hell back.

00:54:42.000 We'll talk about all of that very soon.

00:54:43.000 So stick around.

00:54:44.000 We'll see you here a little bit later.
