00:00:00.000 After the awkward humor and the angry speeches about Donald Trump, Joe Biden finally emerges from his basement.
00:00:05.000 And he's alive!
00:00:07.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:08.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:10.000 Today's Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:19.000 Your online activity should not be public.
00:00:20.000 Protect yourself at ExpressVPN.com.
00:00:23.000 Slash Ben, we'll get to all the news in just one moment.
00:00:25.000 First, let's talk about the fact that you're probably spending way too much on your cell phone bill.
00:00:28.000 Now is not a good time to be spending too much money.
00:00:31.000 In fact, never is a great time to be spending too much money.
00:00:33.000 You really should be looking to cut that cell phone bill, especially if you're wasting lots of money on unlimited data that you are not using.
00:00:39.000 That is why you should be taking a look right now at PeerTalk.
00:00:41.000 Who is your wireless provider?
00:00:43.000 AT&T?
00:00:43.000 Verizon?
00:00:44.000 What if I told you that Pure Talk USA uses the exact same network as one of those carriers, same tower, same coverage, but literally costs you half the price?
00:00:44.000 T-Mobile?
00:00:51.000 How do they make it so affordable?
00:00:52.000 Well, there are no retail stores, so low overhead.
00:00:55.000 You're not funding their billion-dollar ad campaigns.
00:00:57.000 You're only paying for the data you need.
00:00:58.000 No contract, no excessive fees.
00:01:00.000 You'll enjoy a limited talk, text, two gigs of data all for just $20 a month.
00:01:04.000 That's correct. The average person is saving 400 bucks a year on their wireless bill by moving over to Pure Talk.
00:01:09.000 So grab that mobile phone, dial pound 250 and say Ben Shapiro.
00:01:13.000 When you do, you get this amazing deal and you save 50% off your very first month.
00:01:17.000 Again, that is pound 250.
00:01:19.000 Say keyword Ben Shapiro.
00:01:20.000 That's pound 250.
00:01:21.000 Say Ben Shapiro.
00:01:23.000 And you get this amazing deal.
00:01:24.000 Save 50% off your first month of PeerTalk and start cutting down those cell phone bills.
00:01:28.000 You're spending money where you don't need to.
00:01:29.000 Again, dial pound at 250 and say keyword Ben Shapiro to get started.
00:01:33.000 Alrighty, so last night the big news is that Joe Biden is indeed alive.
00:01:38.000 He looks much more alive last night than he has the entire campaign.
00:01:40.000 Now, before everybody gets too excited, let's just remember that when Hillary Clinton in 2016 spoke, the media were all over it.
00:01:46.000 They were slobbering all over her speech.
00:01:48.000 It was incredible.
00:01:48.000 It was historic.
00:01:49.000 And then she collapsed into a van, and that was pretty much the end of her campaign.
00:01:53.000 Joe Biden is always one gaffe away from his campaign's extinction.
00:01:56.000 So the expectations had been set pretty low, right?
00:02:00.000 I mean, if he did not stumble through the entire speech and or physically fall down, then this was a victory for Joe Biden.
00:02:05.000 And he surpassed that with ease.
00:02:06.000 I mean, he really did.
00:02:07.000 I thought he looked significantly more lively than he has any time during the campaign.
00:02:11.000 I know that he's having a super beats or what, but the bottom line is that Joe Biden looked as though he had some energy for the first time in the campaign.
00:02:19.000 He's been I mean, the sleepy Joe moniker that Trump hung on him early on in this in this race really did apply.
00:02:26.000 It did not apply last night.
00:02:28.000 Biden looks much more alive.
00:02:29.000 He looks much more with it.
00:02:31.000 His speech was quite well written.
00:02:33.000 It was a very good night for Joe Biden.
00:02:34.000 It was.
00:02:35.000 It also highlighted the fact that really the Democrats have but one play in this playbook.
00:02:39.000 And the playbook is Donald Trump is a bad orange man who is bad and orange.
00:02:44.000 And that makes sense.
00:02:44.000 That is the entire playbook.
00:02:45.000 If you look at the Pew polls from the last couple of weeks, what you will see is that 56% of people who support Joe Biden say they support Joe Biden because they don't like Trump.
00:02:54.000 It is not that people love Joe Biden.
00:02:56.000 It's that they don't hate Joe Biden.
00:02:58.000 Right?
00:02:58.000 And so the bar for Biden is actually fairly low.
00:03:00.000 He has to be somewhat coherent.
00:03:02.000 He has to be an alive person who can breathe on his own.
00:03:04.000 He has to be not Donald Trump.
00:03:06.000 All of those things he is capable of doing.
00:03:08.000 And last night, that's what he showed.
00:03:10.000 Now, the burden for Trump and the RNC is going to be to reshift the conversation away from Trump's character, because Trump is Trump and his character is going to continue to be his character.
00:03:20.000 They're going to have to reshift the conversation away from Trump and back toward policy.
00:03:23.000 And that's always kind of a hard shift, because the fact is that Donald Trump had an easy out in 2016.
00:03:27.000 The easy out in 2016 was, yeah, you think I'm terrible?
00:03:31.000 Look at that lady.
00:03:32.000 Hillary Clinton was wildly unpopular for decades.
00:03:35.000 It was the two most unpopular candidates in American history going up against each other.
00:03:38.000 One of them had governed and was unpopular.
00:03:40.000 One of them had not governed and was unpopular.
00:03:42.000 And Americans were like, OK, let's try the one who hasn't done this yet.
00:03:45.000 Maybe he'll be better.
00:03:46.000 But Biden is not sort of the same thing.
00:03:48.000 It's not that Biden is competent.
00:03:50.000 It's not.
00:03:50.000 It's not that Biden is consistent on policy.
00:03:52.000 He isn't.
00:03:53.000 It's not that Biden is an important historical figure.
00:03:55.000 He is not for any particular reason.
00:03:57.000 It is that Biden is not as inherently unlikable as Hillary Clinton.
00:04:00.000 And so the avenue of attacking Joe Biden on character grounds is simply not as available as it was for Hillary Clinton with regard to Donald Trump.
00:04:09.000 And that is why the Democrats keep minding this vein.
00:04:11.000 Because they know that Trump is going to keep giving them material on Twitter.
00:04:14.000 He's going to go out and he's going to make dumb comments from now until the election.
00:04:17.000 They're counting on it.
00:04:18.000 The one thing that Trump could do to stop all of this is simply to cut off the supply.
00:04:23.000 If suddenly the Democrats were cut off from their heroin supply of Trump gaffes and Trump nastiness on Twitter, they would wither.
00:04:31.000 So would the media.
00:04:32.000 The media wouldn't know what to do.
00:04:34.000 If Trump simply shut down his Twitter account for three months before the election, he would rise in the poll by 5% and this thing would tighten up magnificently.
00:04:41.000 There are state polls showing the thing's already tightening.
00:04:44.000 But Democrats are counting on him not doing that.
00:04:46.000 And you can see that the entire Democratic Party is based around this.
00:04:49.000 Because internally, there's significant differences.
00:04:52.000 Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders agree on very few things.
00:04:57.000 On a personal level, Kamala Harris and Joe Biden don't agree on many things in terms of what ought to be done policy-wise.
00:05:02.000 The squad does not like Nancy Pelosi.
00:05:04.000 Nancy Pelosi does not particularly like the squad.
00:05:06.000 They are all united by the glue of Orange Man Bad.
00:05:09.000 And so you can go through eight long hours of DNC primetime programming and receive zero references to the threat of China because it doesn't matter.
00:05:18.000 The Democrats have widely variant views on what ought to be done about China.
00:05:21.000 Some want to be a little bit more harsh.
00:05:22.000 Many of them want to be a lot more conciliatory.
00:05:24.000 The Democrats are fairly united in their unwillingness to crack down on the Iranian attempted nuclear regime.
00:05:32.000 In fact, they gave it a green light back during the Obama administration.
00:05:35.000 And so we went eight long hours without any mention of the greatest threat to Middle East peace, namely the Iranian regime.
00:05:40.000 We went eight long hours without any mention at all, zero mention of rioting and looting in America's major cities, which continued last night in Portland.
00:05:48.000 I mean, zero mention of it.
00:05:50.000 We've had riots in Chicago, in L.A., in New York, in Washington, D.C., in Portland, in Seattle.
00:05:55.000 In Seattle, they set up their own little Republican shop, people.
00:05:58.000 If you watch the DNC, it's an alternative reality.
00:05:58.000 And none of that existed.
00:06:02.000 And this is one of the problems with the media is that the media have obscured the actual reality in favor of an alternative reality where all the bad things are really about Trump personally, as opposed to bad things happening mainly in major democratic areas.
00:06:13.000 We went through eight long hours of democratic programming without once mentioning economic lockdowns, which is an incredible feat because their main pitch on COVID is, look at the economy, look how bad the economy is.
00:06:25.000 Why do you think the economy is so bad?
00:06:27.000 It is not purely because of the effects of COVID itself.
00:06:30.000 In the early going, when states were being absolutely ravaged by COVID, it was easy to make the case that it was not government policy that was leading to the economic failures in major states like New York and New Jersey.
00:06:41.000 I mean, when the virus was running roughshod through New York and New Jersey and killing virtually everybody in nursing homes, it was at least easy to make the case people ain't going to go out and they're not going to circulate, they're not going to go back to the office.
00:06:51.000 Because they're afraid of the virus.
00:06:53.000 But the fact is, right now, in New York, I was looking at these numbers today, in New York, there were a grand total of seven deaths in the entire state of New York from COVID yesterday.
00:07:03.000 And they are still locked down.
00:07:05.000 In New Jersey, there are a grand total of nearly zero deaths in the state of New Jersey, reported yesterday, which means, occurring yesterday, it was probably zero.
00:07:16.000 Okay, they are still locked down in New Jersey.
00:07:18.000 They're still locked down in major areas of the American economy.
00:07:21.000 And the Democrats somehow got through eight hours of programming in which they featured the governor of New York.
00:07:27.000 They featured the governor of California, which is still shut down.
00:07:30.000 And they never once mentioned that lockdown policies may have something to do with the fact that the economy has tanked.
00:07:37.000 So that's pretty incredible.
00:07:38.000 I mean, that's obscuring all the major issues.
00:07:40.000 And that is the name of the game for Joe Biden, right?
00:07:42.000 At no point does he actually mention the issues.
00:07:44.000 He just says, look, it's bad out there and I am sweetness and light.
00:07:48.000 That was his entire campaign speech last night.
00:07:50.000 At no point did he actually lay forth a convincing policy on anything.
00:07:55.000 His entire pitch was, Donald Trump is satanic, Marianne Williamson-esque darkness, forces of darkness, shadowy forces of darkness.
00:08:03.000 It was a Marianne Williamson speech.
00:08:04.000 It really was.
00:08:04.000 I mean, that was Marianne Williamson.
00:08:06.000 You remember back during the primary, she talked about the forces of darkness and we will overcome.
00:08:10.000 People laughed at her.
00:08:11.000 Joe Biden just cribbed off her sheet, which is not a surprise.
00:08:14.000 And then he proclaimed himself the forces of light.
00:08:17.000 So that's the entire Democratic campaign, which leads to two facts for the Trump campaign, because It was, I think, emotionally effective.
00:08:24.000 Again, the entire campaign has now been, Joe Biden is empathetic, he cares about you, he's a nice person, he's the forces of light, and Donald Trump is the forces of darkness.
00:08:30.000 Donald Trump has got to cut off the cocaine drug supply to the Democrats in the media of his own gaffes and his own personal foibles.
00:08:38.000 That's number one.
00:08:40.000 And number two, he has to recenter on the fact that Democrats' plans involve allowing cities to be run roughshod over by looters and rioters and allowing economies to be locked down until the end of time.
00:08:51.000 Those are the major issues in America today.
00:08:54.000 And by the way, also allowing the Chinese and the Iranians to do what they will on the foreign stage.
00:08:58.000 It's still incredible to me that the entire media...
00:09:00.000 I've completely ignored the fact that the intelligence community, the same intelligence community that is currently finding that the Russians are trying to interfere in the election on behalf of Donald Trump, also said that the Chinese and Iranian governments are trying to interfere in the election on behalf of Joe Biden.
00:09:13.000 That's gone completely without mention.
00:09:15.000 And by the way, China is a much greater geopolitical threat to the United States right now than Russia has been for at least a decade.
00:09:24.000 Okay, we're going to get into the actual events of the DNC in just one moment.
00:09:27.000 First, let us talk about the fact that now is not a great time to go to the post office.

00:10:39.000 Go check out stamps.com today.
00:10:41.000 Okay, so the DNC was basically a bunch of awkward humor and faux unity up until Joe Biden emerged from the crypt.
00:10:50.000 Alive!
00:10:51.000 Made animate by Dr. Frankenstein.
00:10:51.000 Alive!
00:10:54.000 They started off, as always, with a celebrity presenter.
00:10:58.000 Last night, it was Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Seinfeld.
00:11:03.000 And it appeared that virtually all of her lines were written by the late-season writers of Seinfeld, right?
00:11:07.000 No early-season writers here.
00:11:09.000 I mean, this is really bottom-of-the-barrel kind of humor.
00:11:12.000 Also, it is worth noting here, the same Democrats will claim that Republicans engage routinely in conspiracy theories, and they'll point out that President Trump didn't denounce QAnon because he didn't know what QAnon was and all of that.
00:11:22.000 These same people engage in conspiracy theories on a regular basis, openly and regularly, for eight long hours of the DNC.
00:11:28.000 All you heard is that Donald Trump was trying to crush the postal service so that the mail would not be delivered in time for the election, which is just absolute crap.
00:11:34.000 I mean, we spent an earlier podcast this week on exactly this topic for like 45 minutes.
00:11:38.000 It's just nonsense.
00:11:39.000 It is unsupportable by anything in fact or reality.
00:11:43.000 Nonetheless, according to Julia Louis-Dreyfus at the DNC, in 2016, the election was stolen, full-on stolen, by, I kid you not, Facebook and Vladimir Putin and Fox News.
00:11:55.000 None of which is true.
00:11:56.000 Facebook did not steal the election for Donald Trump.
00:11:59.000 That is sheer nonsense.
00:12:01.000 Vladimir Putin did not steal the election for Donald Trump.
00:12:04.000 Hillary Clinton, not visiting Wisconsin, stole the election for Donald Trump.
00:12:07.000 I mean, these are just open conspiracy theories trafficked in the light of day in the DNC.
00:12:07.000 Heroes.
00:12:11.000 It's pretty incredible.
00:12:14.000 Vote!
00:12:15.000 Right now, you can text VOTE to 30330 to learn about all of your voting options and make the best plan for how to vote in your community, wherever you are.
00:12:25.000 An easy way to remember 30330 is that's the year Donald Trump will finally release his tax returns.
00:12:34.000 If we all vote, there is nothing Facebook, Fox News, and Vladimir Putin can do to stop us.
00:12:44.000 That's very funny.
00:12:47.000 It's not a conspiracy theory at all.
00:12:48.000 That Facebook, run by Sheryl Sandberg and Mark Zuckerberg, conspired to make Donald Trump president.
00:12:55.000 Sure, sure.
00:12:56.000 Okay, but if that wasn't enough humor for you, there was a lot of humor last night.
00:12:59.000 Julia Louis-Dreyfus also did a comedy routine on Mike Pence's name because, you know, it's because it's not hard to because it's racist to pronounce Kamala Harris's name wrong because everyone does it because it's pronounced in an interesting way.
00:13:13.000 Like for years, everyone said Kamala and now everybody says Kamala.
00:13:16.000 But it's racist because because let's let's let's let's make fun of Mike Pence's name.
00:13:22.000 So what did you think about Kamala Harris's speech last night?
00:13:28.000 It was tremendous.
00:13:29.000 I was so happy for her.
00:13:31.000 I know, me too.
00:13:32.000 She's fabulous.
00:13:33.000 I cannot wait to see her debate our current vice president, Mika Pines.
00:13:38.000 Or, uh, is it Paints?
00:13:41.000 It's pronounced Ponce, I believe.
00:13:44.000 Oh, some kind of weird foreign name?
00:13:47.000 Yeah, not very American sounding.
00:13:48.000 Yeah, that's what people are saying.
00:13:51.000 Strongly.
00:13:55.000 Who thought that was funny?
00:13:57.000 Who thought that was funny?
00:13:59.000 Who?
00:14:01.000 Also, I did enjoy, last night, church became okay again.
00:14:04.000 That was exciting.
00:14:05.000 So, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was talking up the fact that Joe Biden goes to church.
00:14:08.000 Now, in some cases, he can't actually receive communion because, of course, he's a rabid pro-choice activist.
00:14:14.000 But that's okay.
00:14:14.000 He goes to church a lot.
00:14:15.000 Apparently, it's okay to go to church so long as you don't actually believe any of the prescriptions about life in the womb.
00:14:22.000 It's exciting stuff when Democrats start talking about God.
00:14:24.000 It doesn't get awkward at all.
00:14:26.000 Just remember, Joe Biden goes to church so regularly that he doesn't even need tear gas and a bunch of federalized troops to help him get there.
00:14:38.000 There are funny things you can say about Trump.
00:14:40.000 Why don't they just say them?
00:14:42.000 Is anybody sitting at home guffawing out loud at this?
00:14:45.000 I don't think so.
00:14:46.000 Other comedians who were brought forth.
00:14:47.000 Sarah Cooper, whose entire schtick is making funny faces while pretending to mouth lines from President Trump.
00:14:54.000 Suddenly she's a celebrity at the DNC because literally her entire schtick is she makes funny faces while mouthing speeches by Trump.
00:15:01.000 Which, by the way, is not as funny as just Trump saying these things.
00:15:04.000 I'm sorry, Trump is inherently funny.
00:15:06.000 Shane Gillis, the comedian, pointed this out back in March.
00:15:09.000 He was like, everybody on the left keeps saying Trump isn't funny.
00:15:11.000 It's kind of funny that the President of the United States has threatened to nuke a hurricane.
00:15:16.000 But Democrats can't just leave well enough alone, so they have Sarah Cooper, author and comedian, which is a loosely defined comedian term, doing a routine at the DNC.
00:15:26.000 This is pretty low-rent stuff here.
00:15:30.000 I've heard Donald Trump say some pretty unhinged things.
00:15:33.000 I've heard them over and over and over again.
00:15:36.000 But nothing is more dangerous to our democracy than his attacks on mail-in voting during a pandemic.
00:15:44.000 Okay, here's the truth.
00:15:46.000 Donald Trump doesn't want any of us to vote because he knows he can't win fair and square.
00:15:52.000 So whether you plan to vote by mail or in person, wearing your mask, It is your vote, and it's your right.
00:16:00.000 Don't let Donald Trump take that away from you.
00:16:02.000 That was hilarious.
00:16:03.000 I need to hear from this random lady who makes TikTok videos.
00:16:06.000 That's some hilarity, right?
00:16:07.000 Wait, that wasn't meant to be funny?
00:16:09.000 Okay, sorry.
00:16:11.000 Okay, they also trotted out their favorite governors.
00:16:13.000 I think maybe the funniest thing that happened during the entire DNC is they had a governor's panel, and I kid you not, they put Stacey Abrams on it.
00:16:19.000 I am not kidding you.
00:16:20.000 They actually had a governor's panel and they had like Gretchen Whitmer and they had a variety of democratic governors from across America on this panel.
00:16:30.000 And on this panel, they had Stacey Abrams, who is not in fact a governor of a state.
00:16:36.000 But they're just going to continue to pretend that she is the governor of a state.
00:16:38.000 So that was actually funny.
00:16:40.000 That was the most comedic moment.
00:16:41.000 There are a few of these comedic moments that popped up during the DNC.
00:16:44.000 There's one moment where they had to have people clap for Kamala Harris's speech.
00:16:48.000 So they put up a big screen of various split screens from Zoom, people clapping.
00:16:53.000 And it turns out they couldn't find enough people to clap, so they just duplicated various little windows.
00:16:57.000 It looked like Hollywood Squares, except several of the squares were exactly the same.
00:17:01.000 There were some comedic moments, but they were unintentional comedy.
00:17:01.000 So that was kind of fun.
00:17:04.000 We'll get to the great governors and great senators from around the United States doing their little comedy bits in a moment of unity.
00:17:11.000 It was very awkward until Biden took the stage, honestly.
00:17:13.000 Like, this was Biden's night, which is kind of a surprise since he's been an afterthought the entire convention.
00:17:17.000 We'll get to all that in just one second.
00:17:18.000 First, let's talk about the fact that if you're a responsible person, you really do need to take care of your credit card debt as soon as possible.
00:17:24.000 That starts to mount so incredibly quickly.
00:17:26.000 Once you go into credit card debt, I mean, I know people whose lives have been ruined, really, by not being able to pay off that credit card debt.
00:17:31.000 And this is where Lightstream comes in.

00:18:35.000 Okay, so the Democrats trotted out a bunch of luminaries, including Gavin Newsom, who spoke from a forest in California.
00:18:43.000 Wildfires are consuming large parts of the state of California.
00:18:46.000 In fact, one of the reasons that wildfires have been consuming large parts of the state is not just because it gets hot and dry here.
00:18:52.000 It does get very hot and it does get very dry in the state of California.
00:18:54.000 It has literally my entire life.
00:18:56.000 It is not breaking news that California is hot.
00:18:58.000 And it is not because of global warming, per se, that California is experiencing wildfires.
00:19:04.000 Wildfires have been a thing in California for literally as long as modern human beings have been living in California.
00:19:09.000 It's been quite hot here for quite a while.
00:19:12.000 Gavin Newsom sat in the forest and explained that it was global warming's fault, not his forest management fault.
00:19:17.000 They don't do any sort of forest clearing, so that leaves a lot of really, really dry terrain for the fires to race across.
00:19:25.000 Gavin Newsom took some time out to go to the forest.
00:19:27.000 What was weird is James Comey was hiding behind that big tree behind him.
00:19:31.000 And then talk about global warming.
00:19:33.000 Meanwhile, we have rolling blackouts across the state of California.
00:19:36.000 I mean, this state is so unbelievably mismanaged.
00:19:40.000 My state is the most beautiful state in the union.
00:19:41.000 It also happens to be the most mismanaged state in the union.
00:19:44.000 It's absolutely incredible.
00:19:45.000 They're talking about raising the tax rates again.
00:19:47.000 They're talking about raising the top tax rate in the state of California to nearly 17% on top of the federal rate, which would put the top tax rate around 54% in the state of California, combined state and federal.
00:19:58.000 They are talking about a wealth tax that would follow you around for 10 years after you leave the state.
00:20:02.000 There are 66,000 homeless people in LA County right now on the streets.
00:20:07.000 There are rolling wildfires across the state.
00:20:10.000 There are rolling blackouts in the middle of a giant heat wave.
00:20:13.000 Because people are using their electricity more, they are shutting off electricity to people in the middle of a heat wave where it is 104 degrees outside in LA.
00:20:21.000 And here was Gavin Newsom taking some time out to talk to you from the forest about global warming.
00:20:25.000 Really high-priority stuff here from the Ken doll of a governor that we have out here.
00:20:30.000 I'm about a mile or so away from one of over 370 wildfires that we're battling here in the state of California.
00:20:38.000 We are just coming off a record week, a heat wave that led to 130 degree temperatures, the highest temperature ever recorded in California, arguably the world's history here in our state.
00:20:50.000 The hots are getting hotter.
00:20:51.000 The dries are getting drier.
00:20:53.000 Climate change is real.
00:20:54.000 If you are in denial about climate change, come to California.
00:20:59.000 Okay, climate change is indeed real, in my opinion, and in the opinion of most scientists.
00:21:04.000 Climate change is indeed largely human-caused, according to most scientists.
00:21:08.000 Also, all of the measures that Gavin Newsom encourages with regard to climate change will have literally zero impact on the climate for the next several decades.
00:21:14.000 So he better get a plan together to, you know, stop the wildfires and rolling blackouts in his state, dumbass.
00:21:19.000 Meanwhile, it wasn't just Gavin Newsom being a dumbass.
00:21:22.000 It was a wide variety of Democrats making fools of themselves last night.
00:21:27.000 Mayor Acacia Lance Bottoms of Atlanta was featured last night.
00:21:31.000 Her city has been in a state of pretty significant turmoil ever since the shooting of Rayshard Brooks near a Wendy's after Rayshard Brooks fell asleep in a drive-thru at a Wendy's.
00:21:41.000 And I believe it was a person of color who called the cops.
00:21:43.000 The cops showed up, discussed with him for 45 minutes, and then he attacked the police officers.
00:21:48.000 He seized a taser from one, tried to shoot one, tried to shoot the other, and then got shot.
00:21:51.000 That led to riots in the streets and Keisha Lance Bottoms talking about cutting the cops and a DA trying to indict the cops.
00:21:58.000 And the cops basically sicking out, doing a blueout.
00:22:01.000 And Keisha Lance Bottoms was featured at the DNC anyway.
00:22:04.000 Because that's how all of this works.
00:22:05.000 So, here is Keisha Lance Bottoms suggesting once again, in part of the new democratic mythology, that black people are being prevented from voting across the United States despite the fact that black people routinely outvote their share of the population in presidential elections and have since Barack Obama.
00:22:17.000 Here is Keisha Lance Bottoms.
00:22:21.000 The baton has now been passed to each of us.
00:22:24.000 We've cried out for justice.
00:22:27.000 We have gathered in our streets to demand change.
00:22:31.000 And now, we must pass on the gift John Lewis sacrificed to give us.
00:22:37.000 We must register, and we must vote.
00:22:41.000 Okay, I understand the drive to get people to vote, but the idea that you are being threatened with inability to vote in the United States today is nonsense.
00:22:47.000 It's just sheer crap.
00:22:49.000 Okay, so we got Keisha Lance Bottoms, we also got Senator Tammy Duckworth, another one of the also-rans for Vice President who is not selected.
00:22:54.000 So, Senator Duckworth just did a pure anti-Trump speech, which is really the uniting glue of the Democratic Party.
00:23:01.000 She suggested that Trump doesn't deserve to call himself President, and she also suggested that Trump is easily manipulated by dictators, and here she was going after Trump.
00:23:12.000 Joe Biden would stand up for what's right, stand tall for our troops, and stand strong against our enemies.
00:23:19.000 Because unlike Trump, Joe Biden has common decency.
00:23:23.000 He has common sense.
00:23:25.000 He can command, both from experience and from strength.
00:23:29.000 Donald Trump doesn't deserve to call himself Commander-in-Chief for another four minutes, let alone another four years.
00:23:35.000 Our troops deserve better.
00:23:38.000 Our country deserves better.
00:23:40.000 Okay, my favorite part of the Democratic platform here is that it's very difficult to say a positive thing about Joe Biden other than Joe Biden is a nice person.
00:23:47.000 He's been a horrible legislator for virtually all of his career.
00:23:50.000 His signature legislation that was good, the criminal justice bill of 1994, he has disowned.
00:23:56.000 Which means that he really has no signal accomplishments on his record.
00:23:59.000 So instead, what they just do is they contrast a fake Joe Biden with Donald Trump.
00:24:04.000 And so we're going to see Tammy Duckworth do that in just one second.
00:24:07.000 This is part of the program again, Orange Man Bad.
00:24:10.000 And by contrast, Biden Good, although we can't really name a good thing that Joe Biden has done legislatively other than he's kind of like a nice person that people seem to like.
00:24:17.000 First.
00:24:17.000 We'll get to that in just a moment.
00:24:19.000 Now, many people may think that I am 100% brains, but occasionally I like to smile, particularly with my children.
00:24:25.000 And when I do, I want my teeth to be straight.
00:24:27.000 Also, we have to take lots of photos around here.
00:24:29.000 This is why I've been using Candid.
00:24:29.000 I need my teeth to look good.
00:24:31.000 Candid clear aligners are comfortable, removable, totally invisible, unlike wire braces.
00:24:35.000 So you can transform that smile without anyone noticing.
00:24:37.000 Plus, your treatment is prescribed and monitored remotely by a licensed orthodontist who's an expert in tooth movement.
00:24:42.000 Candid only works with orthodontists, never general dentists like other companies.
00:24:45.000 And with some of those other companies, you may never hear from a doctor as you go through treatment, which is ridiculous.
00:24:50.000 With Candid, your treatment includes remote monitoring by the same orthodontist who created your plan, so you never have to wonder how you are doing, you'll always know, which is fantastic.
00:24:58.000 The average Candid treatment is just six months.
00:24:59.000 You'll start seeing results way before then, cost an average of 50% less than Invisalign.
00:25:04.000 If you're ready to take the first step toward getting your dream smile you can't wait to Get started today from the comfort of your own home with Candid's risk-free starter kit and 75 bucks off.

00:25:15.000 That is CandidCO.com slash Shapiro.
00:25:18.000 Use code Shapiro for that risk-free starter kit and 75 bucks off.
00:25:22.000 Make your teeth look glorious.
00:25:23.000 CandidCO.com slash Shapiro.
00:25:26.000 Use code Shapiro.
00:25:27.000 Okay, so Tammy Duckworth, Also, again, setting up this narrative where it's not just that Donald Trump is bad, it's also that Joe Biden is good at things.
00:25:33.000 Now, the problem is that you can make the case for the former, very difficult to make the case for the latter.
00:25:37.000 Here was Tammy Duckworth suggesting that Joe Biden will not let himself be manipulated like a puppet by dictators.
00:25:43.000 This is eminently untrue.
00:25:45.000 The Biden administration would look very much like the Obama administration, which was manipulated routinely by both Vladimir Putin, as well as the Iranian mullahs, to the point where the Obama administration became Almost a literal mouthpiece for the Iranian theocracy.
00:25:59.000 Incredibly.
00:26:00.000 I mean, they were literally doing PR for the Iranians, pretending that the Iranian regime had moderated while they were pursuing terrorism against American troops in Iraq.
00:26:08.000 Here was Senator Tammy Duckworth, however, suggesting that Trump is easily manipulated while Biden, he's a stalwart, strong guy who will never be manipulated, except for how his entire career is basically a story of him being wrong on every foreign policy issue of the modern era.
00:26:22.000 They have a coward in chief who won't stand up to Vladimir Putin, read his daily intelligence briefings, or even publicly admonish adversaries for reportedly putting bounties on our troops' heads.
00:26:34.000 As president, Joe Biden would never let tyrants manipulate him like a puppet.
00:26:40.000 He would never pervert our military to stroke his own ego.
00:26:44.000 He would never turn his back on our troops or threaten them against Americans peacefully exercising their constitutional rights.
00:26:51.000 I'm amazed to hear strong on defense from the Democrats.
00:26:54.000 That is a hell of a take.
00:26:55.000 The Democrats have been in favor of slashing the military for as long as I have been alive.
00:26:59.000 This notion that Donald Trump is a threat to the troops while Joe Biden is a friend to the troops is a pretty incredible statement.
00:27:05.000 Okay, so it was this sort of awkward dance last night before they got to Biden between weird humor, weird, awkward humor, like not even good parks and recreation style, awkward humor, just weird, awkward humor.
00:27:16.000 And Donald Trump is a bad man.
00:27:18.000 So Cory Booker and Bernie Sanders showed up.
00:27:21.000 Mainly so that Cory Booker could remind you that he has a girlfriend.
00:27:23.000 And he talked to Bernie Sanders.
00:27:25.000 So here was Mr. Potato Head putting on his happy eyes.
00:27:27.000 And he was excitedly talking about Rosario Dawson, his girlfriend, liking Bernie Sanders and then Bernie making weird statements.
00:27:34.000 And yeah, it was kind of strange.
00:27:38.000 You could think of this sort of like survivor on the out interviews of all the people that got voted off the island.
00:27:45.000 Bernie, Bernie, don't you laugh because I got questions for you like, why does my girlfriend like you more than she likes me?
00:27:52.000 Because she's smarter than you and that's the obvious answer, right?
00:27:58.000 Oh, my God.
00:27:59.000 Oh, these jokers.
00:28:01.000 Oh, I mean, this does remind you why Joe Biden is the nominee, right?
00:28:04.000 You look at that split screen, you're like, yeah, probably.
00:28:07.000 They sure they're probably right to take Biden.
00:28:09.000 Yeah, that is that is a picture right there.
00:28:12.000 Okay, then Pete Buttigieg subtly reminded you that there has been massive social change in the United States.
00:28:18.000 And then my favorite part of this is that regardless of whether you like some of the social change that has happened in the United States, I think it is fair to say that the United States is significantly more tumultuous and divided than it was 10 years ago.
00:28:28.000 And here's Pete Buttigieg advocating more tumult and divide by 2030.
00:28:33.000 There is a long way to go.
00:28:36.000 But if this much can change between 2010 and 2020, imagine what could change between now and 2030.
00:28:44.000 Imagine what we could achieve, this coalition we are building this very season, gathering progressives and moderates, independents, and even what I like to call future former Republicans, standing for an America where everyone belongs.
00:29:01.000 Okay, so, um, how much further does the left want to push here?
00:29:05.000 If they're saying, like, remember, in 2010, gay marriage was still not widely accepted in the United States, and so he's saying that same-sex marriage is now widely accepted and that's a good social change.
00:29:12.000 Okay, whether you believe that or not, how much further does the left want to go here?
00:29:15.000 I mean, it seems to me that the next item on their agenda is simply teaching small children that boys can be girls and girls can be boys.
00:29:21.000 Well, if that's where you want to be by 2030, why not just make that explicit?
00:29:24.000 Just say it.
00:29:25.000 Out loud.
00:29:25.000 Say that's where you want to be.
00:29:27.000 So much of the Democratic platform is never saying the quiet part out loud.
00:29:32.000 So then they brought forth a couple more people.
00:29:33.000 Michael Bloomberg showed up because he's pledged $60 million to the Democratic Party.
00:29:37.000 And so he got a speaking slot, even though nobody likes Michael Bloomberg.
00:29:40.000 Now, there were a couple.
00:29:42.000 Then we got to the actual pitch.
00:29:42.000 OK, then we got to the actual Biden pitch.
00:29:44.000 So the actual Biden pitch again, once again, is empathy.
00:29:46.000 And he's a nice guy because that's the only pitch for Biden.
00:29:49.000 And I will say that there was some effective stuff here.
00:29:52.000 Right, so for example, this I thought was a very effective video.
00:29:54.000 I thought that it was actually quite sweet.
00:29:56.000 There's a 13-year-old named Braden Harrington who talked about Joe Biden helping him because Joe Biden has overcome stuttering in his own life and Braden Harrington suffers from stuttering.
00:30:03.000 And so he talked about that last night.
00:30:05.000 I thought this was like a great moment, right?
00:30:06.000 I mean, this kind of stuff is the contrast that Democrats seek to draw.
00:30:09.000 It does show where Trump has a tough time, right?
00:30:11.000 Hillary Clinton is not the type of person who takes...
00:30:14.000 Without Joe Biden, I wouldn't be talking to you today.
00:30:17.000 About a few months ago, I met him in New Hampshire.
00:30:19.000 He told me that we were members of the same club.
00:30:21.000 Here was a video that honestly was quite affecting.
00:30:23.000 Without Joe Biden, I wouldn't be talking to you today.
00:30:27.000 About a few months ago, I met him in New Hampshire.
00:30:31.000 He told me that we were members of the same club.
00:30:34.000 We. Stutter.
00:30:43.000 It was really amazing to hear that someone like me became vice president.
00:30:54.000 I'm sorry.
00:30:55.000 I'm so sorry.
00:30:56.000 I mean, that's good for this kid.
00:30:58.000 I mean, really brave to get on live TV and do that.
00:31:01.000 I mean, that's a brave thing.
00:31:02.000 So that was really good.
00:31:05.000 They brought out some kind of normal people to talk, and most of the picks were kind of effective.
00:31:10.000 They brought out a 95-year-old former World War II veteran talking about how he's voted Republican all his life, and now he's voting for Joe Biden.
00:31:17.000 Whenever you bring up people who have made sacrifices in the line of duty to do this sort of thing, it's very effective.
00:31:21.000 Here was a 95-year-old World War II vet Making the pitch for Joe Biden really more of an anti-Trump pitch, which again, is the entire tone and tenor here.
00:31:29.000 I have been a Republican since the 1960s.
00:31:34.000 I'm a member of the NRA and I voted for Trump.
00:31:39.000 I think Trump has been the worst president we've ever had.
00:31:44.000 So I'll be glad to see him go.
00:31:46.000 I think Joe Biden will be a great leader for the United States.
00:31:52.000 Like me, on the day of my jump into Germany, I think Joe Biden cares about doing his proper duty for the United States.
00:32:02.000 And if he's elected, that's what he will do.
00:32:05.000 Again, it's all vague, but again, this is effective kind of stuff.
00:32:08.000 Now, the Democrats did make kind of a boo-boo here.
00:32:09.000 They brought forth a guy named Michael from Rhode Island to talk about how he was a lifelong Republican.
00:32:15.000 And now he's voting for Joe Biden.
00:32:17.000 There's only one problem.
00:32:18.000 Michael from Rhode Island is not, in fact, a lifelong Republican.
00:32:22.000 He is an electrical inspector.
00:32:24.000 And four out of the last five primaries, he's voted as a Democrat.
00:32:27.000 So that was kind of awkward.
00:32:29.000 But aside from that, that was the pitch.
00:32:32.000 And then Joe Biden's kids did a little presentation.
00:32:35.000 We never hear from Hunter's extra children, right?
00:32:38.000 We never hear about his grandchildren from various Other people, but his Hunter and Ashley gave a little speech about how Joe Biden is wonderful and will be there when you need him.
00:32:50.000 And of course.
00:32:52.000 There's no evidence that he is bad with his children.
00:32:53.000 I mean, apparently he is quite good with his children.
00:32:56.000 It is also true that he has been there for Hunter when he needs him.
00:32:58.000 I mean, this will become a campaign issue.
00:33:00.000 He's been there for Hunter.
00:33:01.000 When Hunter needs to jet set over to Ukraine and pick up a bunch of money, or when Hunter needs a ride to China to close a $1.5 billion deal or whatever it was, then, you know, that seems like Joe's been there for him.
00:33:15.000 It seems like everybody whose last name is Biden has gotten rich off the last name Biden.
00:33:18.000 So at least this much is fact-checked true.
00:33:22.000 I'm Hunter Biden.
00:33:23.000 And I'm Ashley Biden.
00:33:25.000 Joe Biden is our dad.
00:33:26.000 And Beau is our brother.
00:33:28.000 We want to tell you what kind of president our dad will be.
00:33:31.000 He will be tough.
00:33:32.000 And honest.
00:33:33.000 Caring.
00:33:34.000 And principled.
00:33:36.000 He'll listen.
00:33:37.000 He'll be there when you need him.
00:33:38.000 He'll tell you the truth, even when you don't want to hear it.
00:33:41.000 He'll never let you down.
00:33:43.000 He'll be rock steady.
00:33:45.000 The strongest shoulder you can ever lean on.
00:33:49.000 Well, I'm sure that Hunter has leaned on that shoulder both physically and financially many times before.
00:33:56.000 Again, Hunter is going to emerge in this campaign, and he should emerge in this campaign, frankly, because all we've heard from the Democrats is how corrupt and terrible Donald Trump is.
00:34:03.000 Believe me, that stone is not going to be left unturned, and there are some serious questions to be asked about how Hunter Biden ends up on the board of a Ukrainian gas company when he has neither corporate experience, nor any experience with natural gas, nor any experience in Ukraine, and he's picking up large scale checks.
00:34:18.000 So that will come up in the vetting, I am sure.
00:34:20.000 Okay, in just a second, we're going to get to Joe Biden's actual speech, because Joe Biden was indeed alive.
00:34:26.000 It was a low bar to clear.
00:34:27.000 He cleared it.
00:34:27.000 I thought he cleared it pretty easily, actually.
00:34:30.000 It turns out that he can read in lively fashion from a teleprompter.
00:34:34.000 And his message was sort of jarring.
00:34:35.000 It was a jarring turn from the basic message of the Democrats that we are on the verge of fascism.
00:34:41.000 It was Joe Biden lightbringer.
00:34:42.000 It was basically Joe Biden trying to channel Barack Obama circa 2004.
00:34:45.000 He did the whole red state, blue state thing from 2004.
00:34:48.000 He did the whole I'm going to unify the country thing from 2008.
00:34:50.000 It was very much a reversion to Barack Obama's 2008 campaign, not Barack Obama circa 2020, where democracy is in danger and Donald Trump is a fascist and we're all going to die.
00:35:00.000 It was a move towards something else.
00:35:02.000 I thought it was well, it was a very smart political speech.
00:35:05.000 It didn't lay forth any policy.
00:35:06.000 The one note I will make in critique here, you know, after all is said and done, is that the entire Democratic National Convention was centered around the evils of Donald Trump on a personal level.
00:35:16.000 If I'm a middle class person living in New Jersey and I can't go back to my job because the governor of New Jersey has decided that we're going to lock down until COVID is completely gone forever, If I'm a person who has lost a job or lost a family member and I do not know how I'm going to recover, the Democrats have offered no programs for me.
00:35:34.000 They've offered no program for me.
00:35:35.000 They've not explained exactly what they're going to do.
00:35:37.000 Basically, the entire pitch is that Donald Trump is the font of all evil in your life.
00:35:42.000 Donald Trump is the Voldemort of the United States.
00:35:45.000 And if you just banish Voldemort, everything will get better immediately.
00:35:49.000 That was the pitch that was made last night.
00:35:51.000 I don't know how compelling that is.
00:35:52.000 It might be a little compelling because people don't like Trump, but I don't know that it's all all fired compelling.
00:35:57.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:35:58.000 First, if you've been listening to the show for a while, you probably heard me talk about my Helix sleep mattress.
00:36:03.000 OK, but now Helix has launched a new product.
00:36:03.000 It is excellent.
00:36:06.000 They've gone beyond the bedroom.
00:36:07.000 They've started making sofas.
00:36:09.000 They just launched a new company.
00:36:10.000 It's called Allform.
00:36:11.000 They're making premium, customizable sofas and chairs shipped right to your door.
00:36:15.000 So, what makes an Allform sofa really cool?
00:36:17.000 Well, for starters, it's the easiest way you can customize a sofa using premium materials at a fraction of the cost of traditional stores.
00:36:23.000 You can pick your fabric.
00:36:24.000 It is spill-stain, scratch-resistant, the sofa color, the color of the legs, sofa size, and shape to make sure it's perfect for you and your home.
00:36:31.000 They've got armchairs and loveseats all the way up to an eight-seat sectional, so there's something for everyone.
00:36:35.000 And you can always start small and buy more seats later on if you want your all-form sofa to grow and change with you when you move.
00:36:41.000 All-form sofas are also delivered directly to your home with fast free shipping.
00:36:44.000 In the past, if you wanted to order a sofa, it could take weeks or months to arrive and you need someone to come and assemble it for you.
00:36:50.000 Allform takes just three to seven days to arrive.
00:36:52.000 You can assemble it yourself in a few minutes.
00:36:54.000 We did it.
00:36:55.000 I have an Allform sofa.
00:36:56.000 It's fantastic.
00:36:57.000 It is super comfortable.
00:36:58.000 It is super durable, which is great because my kids wreck everything.
00:37:01.000 If getting a sofa without trying it in the store sounds risky, you don't have to worry.
00:37:04.000 You have 100 days to decide if you want to keep it.
00:37:06.000 More than three months, and then they'll just pick it up for free if you don't like it.
00:37:08.000 But you're gonna love it, I promise.
00:37:10.000 Allform is offering 20% off all orders for our listeners right now at allform.com slash Ben.

00:38:13.000 So the task of Joe Biden was to be a Trojan horse last night.
00:38:25.000 And a Trojan horse he was.
00:38:26.000 His performance was good.
00:38:28.000 A Trojan horse because people basically suspect, I think correctly, that he's probably not going to finish out his first term.
00:38:34.000 And so he has to be a Trojan horse of health.
00:38:36.000 He's a very, very healthy, vigorous man.
00:38:39.000 That was task number one.
00:38:40.000 He is also a Trojan horse for the radical left that actually runs his party.
00:38:44.000 And so he had to act like a moderate.
00:38:45.000 So you heard a lot of talk about God and the Declaration of Independence.
00:38:48.000 You heard a lot of talk about patriotism and American troops.
00:38:50.000 And he sounded like a moderate Democrat circa 1968.
00:38:53.000 He sounds like Hubert Humphrey.
00:38:55.000 He doesn't sound like George McGovern.
00:38:56.000 He doesn't even sound like Barack Obama.
00:38:58.000 He sounds like Hubert Humphrey circa 1968.
00:39:00.000 That was Joe Biden's campaign last night.
00:39:03.000 Now, he lifted some of the inspirational rhetoric from Barack Obama back during the days where Obama was pretending to be a uniter, not a divider.
00:39:10.000 Joe Biden was out there pretending that he was a force for light while saying some pretty divisive and untrue things.
00:39:15.000 It turns out that he said some things that just were simply not true.
00:39:18.000 So, for example, Joe Biden said that he jumped into the race because Donald Trump had said there were very fine people.
00:39:25.000 Among neo-Nazis and Klansmen, which is not true.
00:39:29.000 Okay, that's actually not true.
00:39:30.000 What Donald Trump said that was wrong is originally he said that there were bad people on both sides.
00:39:35.000 This is his original condemnation.
00:39:37.000 He said there were bad people on both sides.
00:39:39.000 And then people were like, well, why don't you especially condemn the KKK and the neo-Nazis?
00:39:43.000 He said the neo-Nazis are bad.
00:39:43.000 And he did, right?
00:39:45.000 I'm not talking about the KKK.
00:39:46.000 I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis.
00:39:48.000 And then he said that when it came to people who were marching, that there were fine people on both sides because he seemed to assume Bizarrely, that there were people who were marching in favor of a Robert E. Lee statue who were not white supremacists.
00:40:00.000 So it was more of a category error.
00:40:02.000 And it was not a good thing, right?
00:40:04.000 I mean, I condemned him for it at the time.
00:40:06.000 But it was not him saying that there were good neo-Nazis and good KKK-ers, right?
00:40:09.000 That was not what Donald Trump did.
00:40:12.000 Joe Biden instead dumped out there this idea that Donald Trump had basically said that neo-Nazis and KKK members were good people at Charlottesville, which of course is something he did not say.
00:40:22.000 Just a week ago yesterday was the third anniversary of the events in Charlottesville.
00:40:29.000 Close your eyes.
00:40:30.000 Remember what you saw on television.
00:40:31.000 Remember seeing those neo-Nazis and Klansmen and white supremacists coming out of fields with lighted torches, veins bulging, spewing the same anti-Semitic bile heard across Europe in the 30s.
00:40:45.000 And remember what the president said when asked?
00:40:50.000 He said there were, quote, very fine people on both sides.
00:40:57.000 For a nice guy, it's an overt lie, right?
00:40:58.000 He didn't say that there were very fine people among the neo-Nazis and Klansmen.
00:41:01.000 He specifically said that there were people who were not neo-Nazis and Klansmen marching.
00:41:04.000 That was not factually true.
00:41:05.000 It was wrong.
00:41:06.000 And it provided cover for some of the marchers.
00:41:08.000 But that was, again, go back and listen to my podcast.
00:41:10.000 I was pretty upset about it.
00:41:12.000 But the characterization there is just flatly untrue.
00:41:15.000 Other flatly untrue things that Joe Biden said during the speech is according, by the way, to the Washington Post.
00:41:20.000 is that Joe Biden claims that Trump was going to eliminate funding for Social Security.
00:41:25.000 This is untrue.
00:41:26.000 He said that he was going to temporarily eliminate the payroll tax.
00:41:29.000 Okay, Barack Obama did this.
00:41:31.000 He signed into law a bill that did this in 2012 and suggested that Social Security would be fully funded.
00:41:38.000 The notion that Trump is defunding Social Security is not true.
00:41:41.000 He went after Donald Trump on COVID.
00:41:44.000 He suggested that Trump botched COVID worse than any place in the world.
00:41:47.000 That was not true.
00:41:48.000 Here was Joe Biden on COVID.
00:41:51.000 After all this time, the president still does not have a plan.
00:41:56.000 Well, I do.
00:41:59.000 If I'm your president, on day one, we'll implement the national strategy I've been laying out since March.
00:42:07.000 We'll develop and deploy rapid tests with results available immediately.
00:42:14.000 We'll make the medical supplies and protective equipment that our country needs, and we'll make them here in America.
00:42:21.000 So, basically, his plan is exactly Donald Trump's plan.
00:42:24.000 But he also said that Donald Trump blew it, and America handled it worse than any place else.
00:42:24.000 Right?
00:42:28.000 That is flatly untrue, as the Washington Post even notes.
00:42:32.000 So there are a few things that he said here that were just flatly untrue.
00:42:35.000 But the overall tenor of the speech, again, was about how Donald Trump is a mean man and Joe Biden is a nice man, right?
00:42:40.000 And that was the pitch, right?
00:42:41.000 Empathy, empathy, empathy.
00:42:42.000 There's one point in here where Joe Biden quoted his dad, and he does this a lot in his speeches, where he says, my dad said to me, Joey, and then he says something we have no idea whether his dad actually said, but he says, Joey, I don't care if government solves my problems, but government should understand my problems.
00:42:55.000 First of all, I don't think government needs to understand your problems unless government has a public policy to solve the problems.
00:43:01.000 I don't look for caring or compassion from a government agency.
00:43:04.000 If I'm looking for a shoulder to cry on, I'm going to head on down to the DMV.
00:43:08.000 This bizarre notion that is pushed constantly by Democrats that government is there to care about you is really weird.
00:43:14.000 Why exactly would a faceless, nameless bureaucrat have never met care about me?
00:43:17.000 I just, I don't understand why you would go seeking care and comfort from people who you've never met, whose literal job is to interpret statutes and then apply them.
00:43:26.000 It's a very strange thing.
00:43:27.000 But anyway.
00:43:29.000 Joe Biden's entire campaign was about empathy.
00:43:30.000 So he was about empathy and unity and pretending he's not a radical.
00:43:33.000 So he started off by saying he was going to work hard for Americans who didn't support him, which is something Barack Obama once pledged to do and then completely rejected all those people and sick the IRS on them.
00:43:41.000 Here was Joe Biden making that same pitch last night.
00:43:45.000 I'm a proud Democrat.
00:43:47.000 And I'll be proud to carry the banner of our party into the general election.
00:43:52.000 So it's with great honor and humility, I accept this nomination for President of the United States of America.
00:44:01.000 But while I'll be a Democratic candidate, I will be an American President.
00:44:06.000 I'll work hard for those who didn't support me, as hard for them as I did for those who did vote for me.
00:44:14.000 The unifier pitch.
00:44:16.000 And then he says that he used the word light in the speech 11 times.
00:44:20.000 That's a lot of light.
00:44:21.000 That's a lot of light.
00:44:22.000 It was this very romantic language about light versus darkness.
00:44:25.000 Again, I'm the forces of good.
00:44:26.000 Donald Trump is the force of evil.
00:44:27.000 He says he's going to draw on the best of us, not the worst, which is kind of weird, considering that, again, eight hours of Democratic National Convention programming, not one iota of condemnation for people who are literally attempting to burn down cities.
00:44:38.000 But here is Joe Biden saying he's going to draw on the best of us, which I have doubts, let me just say.
00:44:44.000 Give people light.
00:44:47.000 Those are words for our time.
00:44:49.000 The current president has cloaked American darkness for much too long.
00:44:55.000 Too much anger.
00:44:57.000 Too much fear.
00:44:58.000 Too much division.
00:45:00.000 Here and now, I give you my word.
00:45:03.000 If you entrust me with the presidency, I will draw on the best of us, not the worst.
00:45:09.000 I'll be an ally of the light, not the darkness.
00:45:13.000 So he's cloaking himself in a particular mythology about America's recent history, in which everything was hunky-dory during the Obama days, and then all time began with the Big Bang of Trump.
00:45:21.000 That we were not divided in any way before Trump, everything was fantastic before Trump.
00:45:25.000 This is completely untrue.
00:45:26.000 I'm old enough to remember the Obama era.
00:45:28.000 You probably are too, if you're listening to this show.
00:45:30.000 And I can easily recall many incidents of division inside America during Barack Obama's era, fostered by an administration of which Joe Biden was a key cog and component.
00:45:41.000 But he's saying, basically, it's a back to normalcy campaign.
00:45:43.000 I've been saying, by the way, for literally years, I mean, I told members of the Trump administration this in 2017, that the chief threat was Joe Biden running a return to normalcy campaign.
00:45:51.000 So I've been predicting this for quite a while.
00:45:52.000 Joe Biden is just fulfilling it.
00:45:54.000 Again, he looked alive.
00:45:55.000 He looked more alive last night, which is good for him, right?
00:45:58.000 He was still slurring his words a little bit because, listen, you hit 78, you get a little bit of mush mouth, and he still has that, but he was much better, he seemed more emotionally attuned last night.
00:46:07.000 And then he made COVID his chief pitch, right?
00:46:09.000 I'll protect us the way that Trump didn't.
00:46:11.000 Again, he offered no actual plan to protect us.
00:46:13.000 He said he wanted a national mask mandate, which is weird because he literally has no constitutional power as president to do that.
00:46:18.000 Also, he has never actually proposed a federal program on national masking.
00:46:23.000 He simply just said that and thrown that out there.
00:46:25.000 But his bottom line is that he's going to protect you.
00:46:27.000 Donald Trump didn't.
00:46:28.000 He didn't mention Trump by name, I think once in the speech, but the entire speech was really about how Trump is a bad orange man.
00:46:33.000 And Joe Biden is a very nice man who cares for people and will talk their ear off on the Amtrak.
00:46:40.000 Our current president has failed in his most basic duty to the nation.
00:46:45.000 He's failed to protect us.
00:46:48.000 He's failed to protect America.
00:46:50.000 And my fellow Americans, that is unforgivable.
00:46:55.000 As president, I'll make you a promise.
00:46:58.000 I'll protect America.
00:46:59.000 I will defend us from every attack, seen and unseen, always, without exception, every time.
00:47:07.000 Okay, now this is a promise he cannot keep.
00:47:09.000 Yeah, because no president can protect you all the time from everything, right?
00:47:12.000 He's basically now putting himself in the position of America's missile defense system.
00:47:16.000 I mean, I'm sorry, but Joe Biden would not have protected us against COVID.
00:47:19.000 Because none of the Democratic governors did.
00:47:19.000 How do I know?
00:47:21.000 Nancy Pelosi didn't.
00:47:22.000 Joe Biden didn't, by the way.
00:47:23.000 He was around.
00:47:26.000 No, I mean, that's a no on that.
00:47:28.000 OK, then Joe Biden moved on to the racism thing, and he suggested he went back to the hopeful rhetoric of the early Obama era, which is we're on the verge of eliminating racism from America.
00:47:37.000 We can we can fight racism.
00:47:38.000 We can remove it.
00:47:39.000 There's only one problem.
00:47:40.000 Democrats are constantly shifting the definition of racism so as to not alleviate the charges of racism.
00:47:45.000 It's too valuable an arrow in their quiver.
00:47:48.000 Democrats will never let go of the charge of racism for their political opponents.
00:47:51.000 So when Joe Biden says we're going to wipe racism from America's national life, he doesn't mean that because the moment that Democrats say that racism has been wiped from our national life, which, by the way, it largely has, the moment that that happens, they no longer have that as a hammer to wield against their political opposition.
00:48:06.000 Here was Joe Biden, however, saying he was going to heal racism in exactly the same way Obama said he was going to heal racism and then proceeded to exacerbate it.
00:48:13.000 History has thrust one more urgent task on us.
00:48:20.000 Will we be the generation that finally wipes out the stain of racism from our national character?
00:48:28.000 I believe we're up to it.
00:48:30.000 I believe we're ready.
00:48:33.000 Again, what does he think that we've been trying to do for several decades at this point?
00:48:37.000 And what are his proposals for wiping racism from our national character?
00:48:40.000 And what does he even mean by racism, since we now have two dueling definitions, right?
00:48:43.000 One is the old school, thinking bad things about people because of their race, which is what racism normally means.
00:48:48.000 Then we have the new school, anti-racism, which suggests that if you don't tear down every American system, then you are in fact a racist.
00:48:54.000 Joe Biden doesn't mean any of that.
00:48:55.000 So Joe Biden, his mouth is writing checks that his body can't cash here.
00:48:59.000 I mean, that is what is happening here.
00:49:00.000 Everybody's going to ignore that because it was all sweetness and light.
00:49:03.000 But just recognize that that speech last night, that was a cloaking device for what the actual Democratic program is.
00:49:09.000 And Joe Biden doesn't really mean any of that.
00:49:11.000 Or if he does, he's certainly not going to be able to implement it.
00:49:16.000 To carry on the point, Joe Biden also said that he hears the voices of the protesters.
00:49:20.000 Again, rioters and looters don't exist in Democrat world.
00:49:22.000 So here is Joe Biden saying he hears the voice of the protesters last night.
00:49:25.000 One of the most powerful voices we hear in the country today is from our young people.
00:49:35.000 They're speaking to the inequity and injustice that has grown up in America.
00:49:39.000 Economic injustice, racial injustice, environmental injustice.
00:49:45.000 I hear their voices.
00:49:46.000 If you listen, you can hear them, too.
00:49:49.000 He hears voices.
00:49:50.000 OK, well, he's hearing the voices of the protesters.
00:49:53.000 But again, no solution.
00:49:54.000 The idea is just by electing him.
00:49:56.000 Magically, things are fixed.
00:49:57.000 And this is the Democratic platform.
00:49:59.000 Barack Obama did it the other night.
00:50:00.000 Barack Obama said that the Constitution's only value is democracy, right?
00:50:04.000 There are no other values.
00:50:05.000 Natural rights don't exist.
00:50:06.000 Limited government doesn't exist.
00:50:07.000 Equal rights before law.
00:50:08.000 Those things don't exist.
00:50:09.000 The only value is democracy.
00:50:10.000 Pure majoritarian democracy.
00:50:12.000 It's the only thing that matters.
00:50:14.000 And he said that the protesters in the streets should understand that if you elect us, then the system will have worked and you can stop protesting.
00:50:20.000 But if the other side wins, the system didn't work and you should go out and you should protest.
00:50:24.000 This is this is how Democrats think about government, unfortunately, that the protesters are playing an inside outside game with government.
00:50:30.000 If you elect Democrats and Democrats will do the work of the protesters.
00:50:33.000 If you don't elect Democrats, then you need to be out in the streets shouting about things.
00:50:38.000 And then Joe Biden, again, using this sort of subtle contrast, this subtle assumed contrast between the glories of the Obama years and the horrors of the Trump years, Joe Biden suggested that they won't turn a blind eye to bounties on American soldiers.
00:50:49.000 There is this very dicey story suggesting that the Trump administration knew full well that the Russians were paying bounties to soldiers in Syria and Afghanistan to kill Americans, and that Trump turned a blind eye to it.
00:51:02.000 The Obama administration literally sent $150 billion to the Iranian government, fully acknowledging that the Iranian government would then use the money to fund terrorism, including against American troops.
00:51:15.000 So you got to take all this crap with a grain of salt.
00:51:18.000 So I take very personally, and I have the profound responsibility of serving as commander in chief.
00:51:26.000 I'm...
00:51:27.000 I'll be a president who will stand with our allies and friends and make it clear to our adversaries the days of cozying up to dictators is over.
00:51:38.000 Under President Biden, America will not turn a blind eye to Russian bounties on the heads of American soldiers.
00:51:45.000 No, they'll just turn a blind eye to Russia completely taking over Syria and Crimea and Iran funding terrorism against American troops.
00:51:51.000 They'll turn a blind eye to that.
00:51:53.000 OK, then Joe Biden concluded with his main message, which again was light over dark.
00:51:58.000 I am the forces of light.
00:51:59.000 Donald Trump is the forces of darkness.
00:52:01.000 Here was Joe Biden concluding last night.
00:52:05.000 Let us begin, you and I together, one nation under God, united in our love for America, united in our love for each other.
00:52:14.000 For love is more powerful than hate.
00:52:16.000 Hope is more powerful than fear.
00:52:18.000 And light is more powerful than dark.
00:52:20.000 This is our moment.
00:52:22.000 This is our mission.
00:52:24.000 May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of American darkness began here, tonight, as love and hope and light join in the battle for the soul of the nation.
00:52:38.000 This is woo-woo kind of stuff, right?
00:52:39.000 It's Marianne Williamson kind of stuff.
00:52:41.000 It is more effective than Biden has been historically.
00:52:44.000 Then he rushed outdoors and they did this little fireworks show.
00:52:47.000 So it was actually kind of a nice American optic, right?
00:52:49.000 Having a nominee rush outdoors and they have this nice little fireworks show outside the hall where this is happening.
00:52:55.000 My favorite part was not the fireworks show.
00:52:56.000 My favorite part was the members of the media rushing outside for it.
00:52:59.000 There's some footage of members of the media being told that it was time to go outside for it.
00:53:03.000 And the reporters just like take off like sheep.
00:53:06.000 It's like a sheepdog was herding them outside.
00:53:07.000 It's really funny.
00:53:09.000 If you can't see it, they're literally like sprinting outside to see fireworks.
00:53:12.000 Ooh, it's Joe Biden!
00:53:14.000 Wait, they're not the photographers, guys.
00:53:15.000 These are not the photographers.
00:53:16.000 The photographers are already outside.
00:53:17.000 None of these people have cameras.
00:53:19.000 This is just the reporters who are like trying to, oh my God, we got to see Joe Biden.
00:53:22.000 So we can write prose that we obviously could have written like five seconds later just by watching the video.
00:53:28.000 But it was a pretty sight.
00:53:30.000 Good for them.
00:53:30.000 The media were gaga over this, of course.
00:53:33.000 Chris Wallace said that the Biden speech blew a big hole in Trump's narrative.
00:53:36.000 Why?
00:53:36.000 Because Biden was alive.
00:53:37.000 Again, the bar was very low.
00:53:39.000 Biden was not a corpse.
00:53:41.000 He was an alive human.
00:53:42.000 And thus, he blew a big hole in Trump's narrative.
00:53:44.000 The problem, of course, is that Biden has to maintain this.
00:53:47.000 So all it takes is Joe Biden collapsing into a van once and all of this goes away.
00:53:51.000 Joe Biden has to be alive every time from here to the election.
00:53:54.000 It is not enough for him to just be alive one time at a speech reading off a teleprompter.
00:53:57.000 Here is Chris Wallace talking up Joe Biden's performance.
00:54:00.000 I thought it was an enormously effective speech.
00:54:03.000 Remember, Donald Trump has been talking for months about Joe Biden as mentally shot, a captive of the left.
00:54:10.000 And yes, Biden was reading from a teleprompter and a prepared speech, but I thought that he blew a hole, a big hole in that characterization.
00:54:20.000 Okay, I mean, I think that, again, the performance was much better than Biden has been.
00:54:24.000 It's early, and I'm old enough to remember when people really talked up Hillary's 2016 convention speech.
00:54:28.000 Jake Tapper said that this was the best speech of Joe Biden's career, which, honestly, is like saying that this is the best Cardi B song.
00:54:37.000 It's not saying a lot.
00:54:38.000 There are not a lot of good Joe Biden speeches across the course of his career.
00:54:41.000 Here was Jake Tapper.
00:54:44.000 I've heard Joe Biden give, I don't know, dozens, hundreds of speeches over the years.
00:54:49.000 I have to say this was one of the best, if not the best, performance I've ever seen.
00:54:55.000 Also, kind of underlining a mistake, a tactical mistake, by the Trump campaign to set expectations so low, suggesting that Joe Biden was not capable of giving a speech like this, meant that he would naturally exceed expectations.
00:55:13.000 I mean, I think that's true.
00:55:14.000 I think that setting the expectations low is part of the problem.
00:55:16.000 However, in a debate, things could change fairly radically because it's not just that Joe Biden has to be able to read, it's that Joe Biden has to be able to move on his feet.
00:55:23.000 And that one may be a little bit of a tougher sell.
00:55:25.000 So what does this leave the Republicans with?
00:55:27.000 Well, it leaves the RNC with a task, a dual task.
00:55:30.000 One is refocus the American people on the actual things that are happening in the United States.
00:55:34.000 The entire DNC was a distraction from everything happening in the United States other than COVID.
00:55:38.000 And the reason that they keep focusing in on COVID is because they have made COVID into a miasmatic danger that is out there ready to pounce on you at a moment's notice.
00:55:46.000 Depending on where you are in the country, that is simply untrue.
00:55:48.000 The fact is we're on a significant downslope in Florida, a significant downslope in Georgia, a significant downslope in Arizona.
00:55:54.000 If you're in California, you're still a little bit unsafe, but the fact is the hospitals are not even close to overwhelmed in the state of California.
00:56:00.000 There is no curve in New Jersey.
00:56:01.000 There is no curve in New York.
00:56:02.000 There is no curve in Connecticut.
00:56:05.000 So the fact is that those states are seeing zero deaths and close to zero cases, and yet they're still locked down.
00:56:10.000 It is up to Trump to say, there are political actors out there right now who are keeping your economy and your schools locked down, and then proclaiming that they are handling the virus.
00:56:18.000 And that is not the way that we can handle this.
00:56:20.000 One of the more striking aspects of Biden's speech is at one point in Biden's speech, he actually said there's no miracle that is coming to heal COVID.
00:56:29.000 Joe Biden said that in the middle of the speech.
00:56:32.000 We'll never have our lives back until we deal with this virus.
00:56:38.000 The tragedy of where we are today is it didn't have to be this bad.
00:56:44.000 Just look around.
00:56:46.000 It's not this bad in Canada or Europe or Japan or almost anywhere else in the world.
00:56:52.000 And the president keeps telling us the virus is going to disappear.
00:56:56.000 He keeps waiting for a miracle.
00:56:59.000 Well, I have news for him.
00:57:01.000 No miracle is coming.
00:57:03.000 There's so much conflicting here.
00:57:05.000 First of all, the United States is not ranked number one in deaths per million.
00:57:05.000 So much.
00:57:09.000 In fact, we're not even close to the top of the list in terms of death per million in the United States.
00:57:13.000 When he says Canada doesn't have this.
00:57:15.000 No, Canada does, just all in Quebec.
00:57:17.000 Quebec actually has a death per million rate that's closer to New York than to the rest of the United States.
00:57:21.000 If you're looking at deaths per million population across the world, we are still surpassed by Belgium, Peru, Andorra, Spain, UK, Italy, Sweden, and Chile.
00:57:29.000 And Brazil is right on our heels.
00:57:32.000 And so is France, by the way.
00:57:33.000 So is Mexico.
00:57:34.000 So is Panama.
00:57:35.000 By the time this is all said and done, I don't think that the United States is going to be really close to the top of this list.
00:57:39.000 But Joe Biden is saying that.
00:57:41.000 It's not true.
00:57:42.000 The main thing that he says there, though, which is that there's no miracle on the way.
00:57:46.000 OK, if there's no miracle on the way, then you actually have to learn to live with the virus.
00:57:48.000 But you guys don't want to learn to live with the virus.
00:57:49.000 You just want to lock everything down interminably.
00:57:51.000 It's going to be up to Trump to make that case and people to make that case that Democratic governors have kept this stuff locked.
00:57:57.000 They mishandled it.
00:57:57.000 They botched it, like Cuomo did.
00:57:59.000 And then they kept the thing locked down.
00:58:01.000 They're going to have to make the case also that Joe Biden is a Trojan horse for the Kamala Harris left.
00:58:07.000 And they're going to have to make the affirmative case that Donald Trump is likely to handle things like the rioting and the looting better than Democrats who continue to pat that stuff on the head.
00:58:16.000 And then there's the part of the case that Donald Trump is simply going to have to get himself under control.
00:58:21.000 If Donald Trump wishes to remain president of the United States, he is going to need to shut up.
00:58:24.000 He is.
00:58:25.000 He's going to need to stay on teleprompter.
00:58:26.000 The expectations for Donald Trump are just as low as the expectations Republicans had for Joe Biden.
00:58:31.000 The expectations that Republicans had for Biden were very simple.
00:58:34.000 Is he alive?
00:58:35.000 Joe Biden, last night, showed that he was alive and thus surpassed expectations.
00:58:39.000 Now, tomorrow, he could keel over, but last night, that was what it was.
00:58:43.000 The expectation that Democrats have set for Trump is that Donald Trump will never, ever stop being tumultuous and volatile and saying ugly things on Twitter and tweeting out craziness.
00:58:55.000 All Donald Trump has to do to surpass that expectation is not do those things.
00:58:59.000 And you'll see this happen with Trump every so often, right?
00:59:01.000 He'll go out and he'll give a great State of the Union address and everybody will be like, wow, that was unexpected.
00:59:05.000 Well, no, he's fully capable of that.
00:59:07.000 I think that Donald Trump is fully capable of putting down the phone for five damned minutes.
00:59:12.000 There are plenty of other people out there who are willing to defend what Trump is doing on a daily basis.
00:59:16.000 He can still do it in pressers.
00:59:18.000 But If the entire Democratic pitch is Orange Man bad, then it would really deprive them of a case for Orange Man to be less bad, would it not?
00:59:26.000 And I don't even mean in terms of policy.
00:59:28.000 So the RNC's task next week is going to be to say, Joe Biden may be empathetic, but he ain't gonna solve any of your problems.
00:59:34.000 Here are all the problems in the United States.
00:59:35.000 And also, stay off the damned Twitter.
00:59:38.000 That is the task before President Trump, with less than three months left until the national election that will decide whether he remains in office or not.

01:00:42.000 You know, the Matt Wall Show, it's not just another show about politics.
01:00:45.000 I think there are enough of those already out there.
01:00:47.000 We talk about culture, because culture drives politics, and it drives everything else.
01:00:52.000 So my main focuses are life, family, faith.
01:00:57.000 Those are fundamental, and that's what this show is about.
