00:00:00.000 Everybody is very down on the Trump economy and down on the American economy.
00:00:03.000 We've been told that capitalism has failed, that we need something new.
00:00:06.000 Well, not so much.
00:00:08.000 I think it is worthwhile pointing out some Trump victories because I know that Republicans are down in the dumps.
00:00:12.000 You're seeing an enormous number of bizarre push polls right now on how things are going to break down in Congress.
00:00:18.000 I referenced earlier in the show that the Calchie markets think 92% shots that the Democrats take Congress.
00:00:23.000 That's probably right.
00:00:24.000 But the idea that the Democrats are just destroying the Republicans right now in the generic congressional vote, I'm seeing some varying data here.
00:00:34.000 So, there is a poll that came out literally today from Harvard Harris that shows Democrats up two in the generic ballot, as opposed to one from Quinnipiac showing Democrats up 12 in the generic ballot.
00:00:46.000 These polls are all over the place.
00:00:48.000 In other words, yes, Democrats have an advantage, but is it as big as people are saying at this point?
00:00:53.000 I do not know, especially given the fact that, again, a lot of Americans, by every poll, are upset with the economy.
00:01:01.000 But we should point out that, actually, Americans are doing pretty well by any sort of historic stand.
00:01:06.000 Again, that's not saying there aren't pressures, there certainly are.
00:01:09.000 But Cato Institute points out that since 1967, remember, this was supposed to be the golden age of the economy, the 1960s, 1950s.
00:01:17.000 Since 1967, the share of households with incomes of $150,000 or more has actually gone up by a factor of about six.
00:01:25.000 It went from 5% of households in 1967 earning $150,000 or more to 28% of households today earning $150,000 or more.
00:01:36.000 As far as the percentage of Americans earning below $35,000, that has declined.
00:01:41.000 Rapidly.
00:01:42.000 In fact, according to Cato, since 1967, real household income has risen by more than half.
00:01:48.000 And as for income inequality, it's basically been stagnant since 2000.
00:01:53.000 How about the notion that the rich just aren't paying their fair share?
00:01:55.000 That is not true at all.
00:01:56.000 As Cato points out, the federal tax rates since 1989 have actually fallen for the bottom quintiles and they have radically escalated for people in the top 1%.
00:02:06.000 They're up since 1989, 4.5% for people in the top 1%.
00:02:13.000 They're up about 1% for people in the top fifth, and they are down massively for people in the lowest income quintiles.
00:02:20.000 So it is not as though the economy has suddenly cratered, that American capitalism has failed, or anything like that.
00:02:28.000 And the administration has been doing some pretty good things.
00:02:31.000 So, for example, yesterday the administration cut off loans for college programs whose graduates earn consistently low income.
00:02:37.000 So the basic idea here is the government is not going to provide loans for programs that are scams.
00:02:43.000 That's a good thing, right?
00:02:44.000 That's preventing college debt from being taken that people shouldn't take.
00:02:47.000 Yesterday, the chief design officer, which I know existed, of the US government unveiled America.gov.
00:02:54.000 Again, the goal here is to make government significantly more efficient.
00:02:58.000 Here's the announcement yesterday Welcome to America.gov, the new online home for the United States of America.
00:03:05.000 For the first time, there's one place to get everything done across the entire government 29,000 websites in one.
00:03:14.000 Enrollments, benefits, renewals.
00:03:17.000 Finish your lists without ever leaving the site.

00:03:22.000 Check eligibility, compare plans, and apply directly on America.gov.
00:03:27.000 Check in on a student loan?
00:03:29.000 You can do it right on the site.
00:03:31.000 Address change with the Postal Service?
00:03:33.000 No stress.
00:03:35.000 Serve the country and need to find care?
00:03:38.000 Done in a few clicks.
00:03:40.000 Go back to being a patriot.
00:03:42.000 Again, this is all good.
00:03:44.000 Like, this is a win, right?
00:03:46.000 As long as the website works, we're good.
00:03:47.000 It's more on this in a moment.
00:03:48.000 First, a new customer doesn't necessarily know that you're busy.
00:03:51.000 They know they called and then nobody answered.
00:03:53.000 And there's another business they can call next.

00:04:49.000 Marco Rubio, Secretary of State, says that you'll now be able to just apply online for your passport, which, again, makes things really easy.
00:04:56.000 Right now, you have to go down to a government office and the whole thing.
00:04:59.000 You would ask, how do I apply for my first passport?
00:05:03.000 And once I'm signed in with login.gov, I can securely see the information that the government already has about me in its system.
00:05:10.000 I don't have to type the same thing over and over and over again.
00:05:14.000 Now the fun part, the photo.
00:05:17.000 You can take a new one on yourself on the phone.
00:05:20.000 You probably can't use those filters to make you look 50 years younger, but you can take a picture of yourself on the phone in the comfort of your own home, or you can upload one directly from your own device.
00:05:28.000 You're not going any longer to some drugstore to get your picture taken behind a white screen, and this is this is a really cool feature you can see your photo in the context of the finished passport.
00:05:39.000 And if you don't like it and, as you probably know, many people don't like it, so you're going to take 150 of these, but eventually you will like one and you can retake it until it's the perfect shot, the one you like.
00:05:50.000 Now I have to say this, this may be the most beautiful government checkout i've ever seen, and because i'm securely logged in through login.gov my name, my address, they're already here I enter my payment securely, So let's check out.
00:06:08.000 And that's it.
00:06:10.000 Like, again, this is good.
00:06:10.000 This is all good stuff, right?
00:06:11.000 There are things that are happening inside the guy.
00:06:13.000 I know we report on all the bad news, but this is actual good stuff.
00:06:16.000 And so it is worthwhile noting when good things actually happen.

00:06:35.000 I have no idea what the Protests is about.
00:06:37.000 Bingo!
00:06:38.000 Given the current climate, should a figure as polarizing as Clay Saunders even be allowed on campus?
