00:00:00.000 As monuments fall across America, Trump gives a barn burner speech in defense of American history at Mount Rushmore.
00:00:05.000 So the media simply lie about it.
00:00:07.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:07.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:09.000 Today's show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:17.000 Stand up for your digital rights.
00:00:18.000 Take action at expressvpn.com.
00:00:20.000 I hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing July 4th weekend.
00:00:25.000 We did.
00:00:26.000 It was really, really nice.
00:00:27.000 And you know, we socially distanced and we heard the fireworks that people were firing off illegally.
00:00:32.000 And it was, it was a party.
00:00:33.000 It was, it was, it was great.
00:00:35.000 Also worth noting.
00:00:36.000 Hospitalizations are rising around the country from COVID-19.
00:00:39.000 That is not a shock because we've seen an increased number of cases.
00:00:41.000 The death rates continue to be incredibly low, so we are hoping and praying and crossing our fingers that we don't see a spike in the death rates if the rates of infection continue to rise and the death rates continue to plateau.
00:00:51.000 That's actually really good news.
00:00:53.000 And the media seem not to be hoping for that.
00:00:55.000 The media seem to be hoping that any moment we will be overwhelmed.
00:00:58.000 Now, the reality is that most hospitals are not overwhelmed at this point.
00:01:01.000 Even the hospitals they're talking about, quote-unquote, being overwhelmed, are hospitals where the ICUs are now using some flex capacity.
00:01:07.000 But the fact is that's because they had not been barring the elective surgeries up until the last week or so.
00:01:12.000 So there are a lot of patients who are left over from elective surgeries.
00:01:15.000 As of Houston, in Houston hospitals as of last week, only about 25% of the beds were taken up in the ICUs by COVID-19 patients.
00:01:22.000 Apparently in some hospitals, that is now up to about 50% of the ICU beds.
00:01:26.000 What that means is that they're going to cancel the elective surgeries again.
00:01:28.000 In fact, they've already done this in certain parts of Florida, in certain parts of Arizona, in certain parts of California.
00:01:33.000 So the hospital The sort of hospital resources are not threatened yet at this point.
00:01:39.000 Plus, we now know how to deal with this thing a lot better, which is really good.
00:01:42.000 I mean, certain steps that have been taken by hospitals are significantly stronger in terms of fighting COVID-19 than they were even a few months ago.
00:01:49.000 So anybody telling you we're in the same position that we were back in March is lying to you.
00:01:52.000 It's just not true.
00:01:53.000 Statistically speaking, it is not true.
00:01:55.000 Medically speaking, we now know things we didn't know back then.
00:01:58.000 Like, for example, try to keep people off the ventilators.
00:02:00.000 Using ventilators was sort of a first line of attack at the very beginning.
00:02:03.000 It turns out that that was counterproductive.
00:02:05.000 Flipping people on their stomach has become a very effective practice, apparently.
00:02:09.000 So has steroid use.
00:02:10.000 There are a couple of therapeutic drugs that are now being used far more widely.
00:02:13.000 The rates of death in hospitals, in other words, have gone down fairly radically.
00:02:17.000 So I think we can all hope and pray together as Americans Okay, but that's not the big story of the day across America.
00:02:22.000 The big story of the day across America continues to be the cultural revolution we are currently experiencing.
00:02:25.000 on Sunday, we had the lowest level of death in the United States that we had had since about mid-March, since like March 23rd or something.
00:02:32.000 So that is actually very, very good news.
00:02:34.000 Okay, but that's not the big story of the day across America.
00:02:37.000 The big story of the day across America continues to be the cultural revolution we are currently experiencing.
00:02:42.000 Now, I have never seen, I will say this, I've seen the media gaslight a lot about President Trump.
00:02:47.000 The Gaslighting, for those who don't know, is a phrase that is a word that is used based on a movie from the 1940s called Gaslight.
00:02:55.000 It's about a husband Who marries a wife and then essentially gets bored with her and decides to get her to commit suicide by driving her crazy.
00:03:02.000 So he always turns down the light on the stairs, and then he will tell her that the light is not down on the stairs.
00:03:08.000 That's why it's called gaslight.
00:03:09.000 He will turn down the gaslight on the stairs, and then she'll say, is it dark?
00:03:13.000 And he'll say, no, it looks fine to me.
00:03:14.000 He'll do all sorts of little things around the house to make her think that she is crazy and therefore make her more suicidal, right?
00:03:19.000 That is the movie from the 1940s, starts Ingrid Bergman.
00:03:21.000 It's a very good little suspense thriller.
00:03:23.000 That has become a term that is used in politics a lot.
00:03:26.000 When you see people who are saying things that are obviously not true, but with the full sincerity of saying that they are true.
00:03:32.000 So over the weekend, President Trump gave a speech at Mount Rushmore.
00:03:35.000 And we'll get to the speech in a little while because the speech was a barn burner.
00:03:38.000 The speech is really, really good.
00:03:40.000 Okay, I think it is the best speech that Trump has ever given.
00:03:42.000 I think the speech was right on the money.
00:03:43.000 We'll go through it in just a few minutes.
00:03:45.000 But the media are totally gaslighting this thing.
00:03:48.000 So they're suggesting two separate things about President Trump's speech, both of which are wildly inaccurate.
00:03:53.000 The first line of attack is that Trump is just delusional, that all the stuff that he's talking about in his speech, as we'll see, did not happen.
00:03:59.000 It's never happened.
00:04:00.000 So when Trump talks about the destruction of American history or to cancel culture, all of this is a figment of his imagination.
00:04:06.000 He's just sort of imagining this.
00:04:07.000 Now, if you've been following the news for the last few months, you might say to yourself, wait, What?
00:04:13.000 Of course this stuff is real.
00:04:14.000 We've been watching people talking openly about tearing down statues of George Washington.
00:04:19.000 We've watched statues of Thomas Jefferson defaced and torn down.
00:04:22.000 We've seen, in multiple areas, statues of Christopher Columbus come down.
00:04:25.000 In fact, over the weekend, there was a Columbus statue that was toppled by Baltimore protesters over the weekend in another act of vandalism.
00:04:33.000 They just pulled the statue right down.
00:04:34.000 You can see the people cheering wildly as the statue topples over, collapses on its head and splits in half.
00:04:40.000 And then you see this group of woke protesters.
00:04:42.000 What an achievement.
00:04:43.000 Did they sail across an ocean and open up a continent to Western civilization?
00:04:47.000 No, they pulled a piece of stone off a pedestal and now they're dancing around like maniacs and throwing the pieces in the harbor.
00:04:53.000 All these woke white people who are cheering.
00:04:55.000 Oh, look at us.
00:04:56.000 Look at us.
00:04:57.000 We've made a difference in the world.
00:04:59.000 It's something we'll tell our non-existent grandchildren about because we're never going to have kids, probably.
00:05:03.000 It's really just excellent, excellent stuff from these protesters.
00:05:08.000 Over the weekend, we saw a monument to the Oregon Trail families demolished in Portland.
00:05:12.000 So, people who crossed the continent and made Portland a city.
00:05:16.000 Those people, they're now pulling down the statues.
00:05:19.000 By the way, if I have to hear again from protesters who, I don't see any of them giving up their studio apartments to indigenous peoples.
00:05:26.000 You know, they do this whole routine about how the settling of the Western United States was all about colonialism and invasion.
00:05:33.000 And again, that's true, right?
00:05:35.000 It's true.
00:05:36.000 It's true that throughout human history, people have been colonialists.
00:05:38.000 Throughout human history, people have been imperialists.
00:05:40.000 Throughout human history, people have settled vast wildernesses.
00:05:44.000 The United States was largely a vast wilderness.
00:05:44.000 And let's be frank about this.
00:05:47.000 Yes, there were indigenous peoples, but in terms of the percentage of population to the amount of land, it was relatively depopulated.
00:05:54.000 Okay, that does not mean that you get to steal other people's land, presumably, as a general moral principle, but let's just be real about this.
00:06:00.000 That is the entire history of humanity.
00:06:02.000 But there is this new-fangled morality that says, okay, well, we have to condemn the existence of the United States because there were Native American peoples who were here before this, ignoring, of course, the fact that various tribes were stealing land from one another and attacking one another, and again, That is all of human history.
00:06:16.000 That is not unique to Western civilization.
00:06:18.000 It is all of human history for all time.
00:06:20.000 And I will note, again, that all the same people who are suggesting that America is stolen land don't seem to be giving up their apartments anytime soon.
00:06:26.000 I haven't seen any of them go over to the Native American tribes, local American tribes, and say, you know what?
00:06:32.000 My parents own this apartment building.
00:06:33.000 When I inherit it, guess what I'm doing?
00:06:35.000 I'm giving it back to you.
00:06:37.000 None of that is happening, of course.
00:06:39.000 Virtue signaling means that you get to signal the virtue without actually having to do any of the things.
00:06:43.000 So they've torn down a monument to the Oregon Trail families who made it possible for them to live in places like Portland.
00:06:49.000 And by the way, who are incredibly brave.
00:06:50.000 The pioneers were incredibly brave people.
00:06:51.000 When is the last time you got in a covered wagon with no Count them no police protection and then decided that you were just going to wander across a giant piece of land and take three months in doing so, fording the rivers and shooting the squirrels just like you did in the game Oregon Trail.
00:07:06.000 But don't worry, you are brave because you torched a monument to the people who did that sort of stuff.
00:07:09.000 You're the real hero.
00:07:11.000 You're the real hero.
00:07:12.000 So here is the monument to Oregon Trail families being demolished over the weekend.
00:07:18.000 Really well done.
00:07:18.000 Those families were the bad guys.
00:07:20.000 By the way, there's no evidence that this particular family that is honored here was going around killing Native Americans.
00:07:26.000 Maybe they just came out to a depopulated area and just put down a settlement.
00:07:30.000 Who the hell knows?
00:07:31.000 But apparently, very, very bad.
00:07:33.000 And people put on it a sign that said stolen land.
00:07:35.000 This is stolen land.
00:07:37.000 Okay, well, I very much look forward to you going back to your ancestral homeland of Europe, the white people who apparently put up the sign that says this is stolen land.
00:07:45.000 Meanwhile, in the craziest statue toppling of the weekend, apparently a statue of Frederick Douglass was toppled.
00:07:51.000 We still don't know who did this.
00:07:53.000 So there are people who are suggesting that maybe this is the alt-right in revenge, which would, of course, be absolutely disgusting.
00:07:57.000 Frederick Douglass is one of the great heroes of American history, a freed slave who called upon the United States to fulfill its honorable proclamations in the Declaration of Independence.
00:08:05.000 We talked about Frederick Douglass a lot right before July 4th on this show.
00:08:09.000 Apparently, the Frederick Douglass statue in Maplewood Park was removed from its base overnight.
00:08:13.000 And bits of the statue were scattered about the area.
00:08:15.000 Apparently, it was eventually found in a ditch about 50 yards distant with one of the fingers broken.
00:08:21.000 So it's unclear who did this sort of thing.
00:08:25.000 Who the hell knows?
00:08:26.000 Bottom line is, the statues are being torn down.
00:08:29.000 And let's be real about this.
00:08:30.000 This is now a sort of mainstream and increasingly mainstream democratic position is that the statue should come down.
00:08:36.000 Joe Biden has taken the sort of halfway position, which is let's take down the Confederate statues, which, again, I think in some cases is justifiable.
00:08:43.000 But let's leave up the statues of Washington and Jefferson and Columbus, which is the mainstream American position.
00:08:47.000 When I say it's halfway, what I mean is I don't believe him.
00:08:50.000 I don't believe him.
00:08:50.000 I don't believe that Joe Biden is going to fend off his left.
00:08:53.000 I just don't think it's a thing that he's going to do.
00:08:55.000 I think he is saying that for now because he knows that the American people are not with the program in terms of wiping away all of American history.
00:09:02.000 But I think that increasingly the Democratic is with that program of wiping out all of American history.
00:09:07.000 As I talk about my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps, comes out in about two weeks at this point.
00:09:12.000 That is the goal.
00:09:13.000 The goal is to wipe away American history, recast it as something dark and malicious and evil, to recast America's Declaration of Independence as terrible.
00:09:20.000 As we will see, this is ongoing.
00:09:22.000 The great heroes of our time like Colin Kaepernick, civil rights heroes like Colin Kaepernick, an extraordinarily rich quarterback who was perfectly fine with July 4th until he got benched for Blaine Gabbard, at which point July 4th became terrible.
00:09:22.000 This is ongoing.
00:09:33.000 He spent the weekend just ripping on July 4th, as we'll get to.
00:09:38.000 This is increasingly the position of the mainstream Democratic Party.
00:09:41.000 We're going to get to more of this in just one second.
00:09:44.000 First, let's be frank about this.

00:10:47.000 And again, you get 50% off your very first month.
00:10:50.000 Okay, so.
00:10:51.000 Tammy Duckworth, a senator who is now being considered as a possible Biden VP pick.
00:10:58.000 Over the weekend, she's a senator from Illinois.
00:11:00.000 She suggested that she was possibly willing to listen to talk about tearing down statues of George Washington.
00:11:07.000 So here is Tammy Duckworth.
00:11:08.000 Again, this is becoming an incre- Everything that starts off on the radical left eventually makes its way into the heart of the Democratic Party.
00:11:14.000 And what the Democratic Party does, they play this game where the radical left does something crazy, like defund the police.
00:11:19.000 And the Democratic Party goes, that's crazy, man.
00:11:20.000 We're never going to do that.
00:11:22.000 And then you look at your watch and about 73 seconds later, they're like, you know what?
00:11:27.000 You know what?
00:11:28.000 Maybe we should defund the police.
00:11:29.000 So five seconds ago, Joe Biden was like, no, we probably shouldn't touch Washington or Lincoln or Jefferson.
00:11:34.000 Five seconds ago, Barack Obama did a speech at Mount Rushmore.
00:11:37.000 Right.
00:11:38.000 And now they're turning around.
00:11:39.000 They're like five seconds ago, by the way, Tammy Duckworth dressed up as Mount Rushmore for for July 4th.
00:11:43.000 I'm not kidding.
00:11:44.000 I'm not kidding.
00:11:45.000 OK, there's a tweet from her in 2015 talking about how as a patriotic American, she's going to dress up as Mount Rushmore.
00:11:51.000 And now she's like, well, maybe we should.
00:11:52.000 You know, I don't want to put it out of consideration that maybe we should we should tear down statues of George Washington or something.
00:11:58.000 Should statues, for example, of George Washington come down?
00:12:02.000 Well, let me just say that we should start off by having a national dialogue.
00:12:06.000 His priorities are all wrong here.
00:12:09.000 He should be talking about what we're going to do to overcome this pandemic.
00:12:12.000 What are we going to do to push Russia back?
00:12:14.000 And instead, he had no time for that.
00:12:16.000 He spent all his time talking about dead traitors.
00:12:18.000 So that might be true, but George Washington, I don't think anybody would call him a traitor.
00:12:24.000 And there are moves by some to remove statues of him.
00:12:29.000 Is that a good idea?
00:12:31.000 I think we should listen to everybody.
00:12:33.000 We should listen to everybody.
00:12:34.000 It's a mainstream Democratic position, increasingly.
00:12:37.000 Get rid of the monuments.
00:12:38.000 That's an increasingly popular position in the Democratic Party.
00:12:41.000 Not just the Confederate statues, right?
00:12:43.000 Dana Bash actually does a good job there.
00:12:44.000 She clarifies.
00:12:45.000 She says, are you talking about George Washington?
00:12:46.000 She's like, I think we should listen to everybody.
00:12:48.000 The reason I'm setting up this predicate, guys, is because what the media are about to say is that when Trump talks about it, it never happened.
00:12:48.000 We should listen.
00:12:54.000 It never happened.
00:12:55.000 It just was made up.
00:12:55.000 It was all a lie.
00:12:57.000 By the way, even there, you hear Tammy Duckworth lying.
00:13:00.000 Tammy Duckworth is openly lying right there.
00:13:02.000 She says Trump talked about Confederate statues over the weekend.
00:13:04.000 He did not.
00:13:05.000 At no point during his speech at Mount Rushmore did he mention anything about Confederate statues.
00:13:09.000 In fact, as we will see, all he discussed was the glory of abolitionism and the greatness of the Union.
00:13:15.000 That is a figment of your imagination.
00:13:16.000 It's an open lie.
00:13:17.000 It's an open lie what Tammy Duckworth is saying right there, which is that he paid tribute to dead traitors.
00:13:22.000 There's a whole list of people, as we will see in Trump's speech, that he mentioned by name.
00:13:25.000 Not one of them is a traitor.
00:13:26.000 Not one of them.
00:13:27.000 Okay, so this is just, that's insane.
00:13:30.000 As we say, this is a mission.
00:13:32.000 The continuing destruction of America's history, that I talk about at length in my book, that this continuing destruction of American history is a page.
00:13:38.000 Colin Kaepernick has now been made the social justice conscience of the NFL.
00:13:42.000 This extraordinarily rich, mediocre quarterback, at best, Okay, this extraordinarily privileged guy.
00:13:49.000 This is a person of tremendous privilege.
00:13:51.000 The man earned a million dollars from Nike for kneeling on an ad.
00:13:54.000 Okay, let's not pretend that this guy is not a beneficiary of the American assistant Colin Kaepernick.
00:13:58.000 It's insane.
00:13:59.000 Okay, that guy who is posing in like communist regalia while he was in the NFL and wearing socks that had pictures of cops as pigs on them.
00:14:09.000 And then he was kneeling for the anthem.
00:14:10.000 And we were told, by the way, that when he was kneeling for the anthem, he was not, in fact, kneeling for the anthem.
00:14:14.000 Remember, this was the line, because everyone lies.
00:14:17.000 He was not kneeling for the anthem.
00:14:18.000 Remember, they said that he was just kneeling because he was upset about police brutality and systemic racism, right?
00:14:23.000 It wasn't about the anthem.
00:14:24.000 It wasn't disrespect to soldiers.
00:14:25.000 It wasn't disrespect to the founding.
00:14:27.000 It wasn't disrespect to the flag.
00:14:28.000 It was about respect for the flag, of course, because he was just standing up for what's best about America.
00:14:32.000 Except for yesterday, he, over the weekend, He put up a tweet that said black people have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized and terrorized by America for centuries and are expected to join your commemoration of independence while you enslaved our ancestors.
00:14:46.000 We reject your celebration of white supremacy and look forward to liberation for all.
00:14:50.000 And then you put up a video of all of these horrifying images from American history linked inherently with things like police shootings.
00:14:59.000 As though lynchings in 1920 are the same as a disputed case of a police shooting during a stop.
00:15:06.000 During a police stop.
00:15:08.000 This is the stuff that Colin Kaepernick is putting out while tweeting that Independence Day is inherently terrible and very, very bad.
00:15:14.000 What a delight Colin Kaepernick is.
00:15:16.000 What a wonderful one.
00:15:17.000 And the media are pushing this forward, by the way.
00:15:19.000 The media love this stuff.
00:15:21.000 They love it.
00:15:22.000 By the way, the cancel culture comes for everybody, as we'll discuss, but the media love this stuff.
00:15:27.000 CNN over the weekend, so Trump's speaking at Mount Rushmore, and Trump and the CNN reporter It's almost impossible to describe how insane this is from CNN.
00:15:38.000 The CNN reporter starts talking about Mount Rushmore and discusses Mount Rushmore as stolen Native American land and a statue of at least two slaveholders.
00:15:47.000 And the way that CNN creates its chyron, the CNN chyron says, re-examining Independence Day.
00:15:52.000 They put independence in scare quotes.
00:15:55.000 It's not Independence Day anymore, which, by the way, is the official name of the holiday, right?
00:15:59.000 Under the law, under the U.S.
00:16:00.000 Code, there's an actual section that discusses the establishment of holidays.
00:16:03.000 It is called officially in the United States Independence Day.
00:16:05.000 On CNN, however, it is scarecrowed Independence Day because not Independence Day.
00:16:10.000 It's bad.
00:16:10.000 July 4th is bad.
00:16:11.000 There's a CNN reporter trying to talk down at Mount Rushmore.
00:16:15.000 Again, I'm pointing out to you, you're not crazy.
00:16:18.000 Don't be gaslit.
00:16:19.000 You're not crazy.
00:16:20.000 All this stuff was happening because now that Trump said that it was happening, the media is like, it never happened.
00:16:24.000 It never happened.
00:16:25.000 You imagined it.
00:16:27.000 We never turned that gaslight down.
00:16:29.000 The gaslight's always the same as it's ever been.
00:16:29.000 We never did.
00:16:31.000 There's no threat to America's history, or her culture, or her freedoms.
00:16:35.000 There's no threat to any of those things.
00:16:36.000 We're not trying to indoctrinate you in a view of America.
00:16:39.000 No, we're not.
00:16:40.000 You're just crazy.
00:16:43.000 Here is CNN, over the weekend again, declaring Mount Rushmore a racist site of white supremacy.
00:16:48.000 As Americans face a reckoning over racism, past and present, there's no message of healing from the White House.
00:16:55.000 Instead, President Trump is calling a Black Lives Matter street mural a symbol of hate.
00:17:01.000 And Jake, kicking off the Independence Day weekend, President Trump will be at Mount Rushmore, where he'll be standing in front of a monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans told that, uh, be focusing on the effort to, quote, tear down our country's history.
00:17:19.000 Okay, tear down our country's history, but that's bad.
00:17:22.000 Scare quote, bad.
00:17:22.000 He's going to quote, right?
00:17:23.000 They're going to scare quote, tear down our country's history.
00:17:25.000 As you talk about how it's slaveholders on Mount Rushmore, because again, people are being deliberately obtuse here.
00:17:31.000 You're being deliberately obtuse.
00:17:32.000 The reason that Thomas Jefferson and George Washington are on that monument is not because they're slaveholders.
00:17:37.000 The idiocy of suggesting When you build a memorial to people who did great things, what you're actually memorializing is all the worst things, is the stupidest thing in the entire world.
00:17:44.000 We have giant statues of Martin Luther King all over the United States.
00:17:47.000 Nearly every state in the United States independently, independently created a Martin Luther King holiday before the federal holiday was passed.
00:17:54.000 In fact, there's a massive, massive controversy in the United States in the 1980s when a couple of states wouldn't do it.
00:18:00.000 OK, Martin Luther King, by available evidence, was horrible to women.
00:18:04.000 OK, there's there's very, very good evidence that Martin Luther King treated women abominably.
00:18:08.000 Should we tear down his memorials?
00:18:10.000 Of course not, because that's not why we remember Martin Luther King.
00:18:13.000 Nobody thinks that when we memorialize Martin Luther King, what we're actually doing is memorializing all the ways he mistreated women.
00:18:20.000 The insanity of suggesting that when you put up a statue to a person, what you're doing is you're honoring every single thing about the person.
00:18:26.000 It's just ridiculous.
00:18:27.000 It's ridiculous on its face.
00:18:28.000 But again, the entire idea here is that the heart of the Jefferson experience is that slavery, the Declaration, is just a cover for it.
00:18:34.000 The heart of George Washington was the fact that he was a slaveholder, not the fact that he was the father of the country.
00:18:39.000 The heart of Abraham Lincoln is that Abraham Lincoln was in favor of Liberia, not that he was focused on emancipating the slaves.
00:18:46.000 That is the general tenor toward American history that so many people in the media, in our academic culture are seeking to take.
00:18:53.000 And then you combine that with the cancel culture and you come up with something truly ugly.
00:18:56.000 So as we will see, again, I'm just foreshadowing because you need to know where I'm going here.
00:19:00.000 Okay, the fact is that the cancel culture exists.
00:19:03.000 It is extraordinarily ugly.
00:19:05.000 It's particularly ugly for people on the left, actually, because if you're on the right, like I know conservatives are not interested in canceling other conservatives and they're not going to go along with this.
00:19:12.000 If you're on the left, You probably will be cancelled because your own crowd is going to flee from you screaming and running for the hills with their hair on fire the minute that you are called out as anything approaching a racist.
00:19:22.000 That's the way that this works.
00:19:23.000 But the left is going to claim that because Trump mentioned cancel culture at Mount Rushmore, it doesn't exist.
00:19:27.000 Again, figment of your imagination.
00:19:29.000 Gaslighting.
00:19:30.000 We're gonna get to that in just one second.
00:19:32.000 First, let's talk about the fact that sleep is very difficult to come by these days.
00:19:36.000 My baby is waking us up like eight times a night.
00:19:38.000 It is a good thing she is cute because she is a trouble muffin.
00:19:42.000 She is very much a child who keeps us awake at night.
00:19:44.000 And then we got a six-year-old who wanders into our room and wants to wake up.
00:19:47.000 Well, what do I mean?
00:19:48.000 What does this matter?
00:19:49.000 The reason it matters is because in those spare moments when I can get to sleep, I need to fall asleep immediately and I need to be comfortable.
00:19:55.000 And Helix Sleep makes all of that happen.
00:19:57.000 Helix Sleep, Has a quiz that takes just two minutes to complete, matches your body type and sleep preferences to the perfect mattress for you.

00:20:34.000 That is helixsleep.com slash Ben, my wife and I have a Helix Sleep mattress.
00:20:37.000 It is why we are capable of getting through the day despite the fact that our children are determined and they've in fact created a Molotov-Ribbentrop pact of keeping us awake at night.
00:20:46.000 So we need this mattress.
00:20:48.000 So do you.
00:20:48.000 Helix Sleep, they're offering up to $200 off all mattress orders.
00:20:52.000 HelixSleep.com slash Ben.
00:20:54.000 HelixSleep.com slash Ben.
00:20:56.000 Go check them out right now.
00:20:57.000 OK, so the cancel culture is real, too.
00:20:59.000 OK, so you combine the perception of American history that all American history is evil and racist with the belief that if you do anything within the systems of the United States, you can fairly be labeled a racist.
00:21:09.000 This is the how-to-be-an-anti-racist, Ibram X. Kendi nonsense that the left has been pushing for the past several years.
00:21:15.000 The idea being that if you are complicit in any system in America, you are a racist.
00:21:20.000 Any system in America.
00:21:21.000 Even the most innocuous gestures get you canceled.
00:21:24.000 Because after all, the most innocuous gestures are just generating support for this horrible, evil system that ends with inequality at the end point.
00:21:31.000 And so that means it doesn't matter how left you are.
00:21:33.000 It doesn't matter how good you have been on progressive issues.
00:21:36.000 You will be canceled.
00:21:38.000 Over the weekend, Both Lin-Manuel Miranda and Hamilton creator Jeffrey Seller were forced to apologize.
00:21:44.000 Okay, they created Hamilton, which again, is a pretty astonishingly diverse musical.
00:21:50.000 I'm not a Hamilton fan.
00:21:51.000 I've done a whole bit on Hamilton on the show before.
00:21:53.000 I got problems with Hamilton mostly from an artistic perspective.
00:21:57.000 But even from the general perspective that you can only identify with people of your own race, playing people who are not of that race, I've always found bizarre.
00:22:03.000 Like, I grew up listening to 1776 and watching 1776, not a Jew among the bunch, but I never had a problem identifying with the characters.
00:22:10.000 Just as, you know, if you watch a great movie with somebody who is not of your race, you routinely identify with people who are not of your race in the movies.
00:22:16.000 In any case, Putting all of that aside, it's a very patriotic musical.
00:22:21.000 I mean, the musical is about the greatness of America and about the establishment of America.
00:22:25.000 Okay, well, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Hamilton creator Jeffrey Seller, according to Emily Zanotti at Daily Wire, were forced to apologize over the weekend for failing to adequately address the Black Lives Matter movement and for, quote, taking part in the moral failure of not speaking up amid the ongoing protests taking place across the nation over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
00:22:43.000 Miranda said in a video posted over the weekend to his Twitter account, we spoke out on the day of the Pulse shooting.
00:22:47.000 We spoke out when Vice President Pence came to our show 10 days after the election that we have not yet firmly spoken the inarguable truth that Black Lives Matter and denounced systematic racism and white supremacy from our official Hamilton channels is a moral failure on our part.
00:23:00.000 This is what Miranda said.
00:23:02.000 As the writer of that show, I take responsibility and apologize for my part in this moral failure.
00:23:07.000 He added he was sorry for, quote, not pushing harder and faster for us to speak the self-evident truths under the Hamilton banner, which has come to mean so much to many of you.
00:23:15.000 Hamilton doesn't exist without the black and brown artists who created and revolutionized and changed the world through the culture, music, and language of hip hop.
00:23:21.000 Literally, the idea of the show doesn't exist without brilliant black and brown artists and our cast crew and production team who breathe life into the story every time it's performed.
00:23:28.000 And then Seller also apologized.
00:23:29.000 He said, I'm not a politician.
00:23:30.000 I'm not an activist.
00:23:31.000 I'm not an expert.
00:23:32.000 I'm a theater producer.
00:23:33.000 But what I realized today is most importantly, I'm an American citizen and silence equals complicity.
00:23:38.000 And I apologize for my silence thus far.
00:23:41.000 Silence equals complicity.
00:23:43.000 So it doesn't matter how woke you are.
00:23:45.000 It doesn't matter how progressive you are.
00:23:46.000 It doesn't matter.
00:23:47.000 You created one of the most successful pieces of art in modern American history entirely with people of color.
00:23:52.000 None of that matters.
00:23:52.000 It does not matter.
00:23:53.000 You will be called out.
00:23:55.000 If you didn't dedicate the entire Hamilton webpage to George Floyd or something.
00:23:58.000 Was anyone under the grave misimpression that Lin-Manuel Miranda or that any of the people who were originally involved in this thing were deeply racist and were standing with Derek Chauvin in that case?
00:24:08.000 Like, who are these people?
00:24:10.000 The cancel culture is real and it comes after everybody who's willing to cave to it.
00:24:13.000 And it leads to some of the most bizarre outcomes imaginable.
00:24:17.000 Another example.
00:24:18.000 For years, this is according to the New York Times, people have been calling for John T. Edge to step down as head of the influential Southern Foodways Alliance.
00:24:25.000 They say he is kingmaker.
00:24:26.000 They say he's a white man, however charming, who has too much power over who tells the story of food in a region where so much of the cuisine was created by enslaved people.
00:24:34.000 For years, Mr. Edge has been listening and remained in his position at the top.
00:24:38.000 He said recently, I'll listen hard and with as much intensity as I can.
00:24:41.000 Out of a moment of stern and righteous critique comes a better organization.
00:24:44.000 The work we've done over the last 20 years is work that is true to our mission, Work that, despite flaws that I may see and others may see, is intended to make progress and make positive change in a region I have always loved and sometimes hate.
00:24:54.000 But listening might not be enough anymore.
00:24:57.000 Before there were biscuits all over Brooklyn and barbecue pitmasters made the list of America's best chefs, 50 cooks and writers shared a meal in Birmingham, Alabama in 1999 and created the Southern Foodways Alliance.
00:25:09.000 The idea was subversive.
00:25:10.000 With food as a lens, the organization aimed to preserve the intricacies of the Southern Table in a way that would both erase the nation's corn-poned concepts about the region's food and help heal a tortured racist history.
00:25:21.000 Now, people are calling for Edge, who's the founder of the organization, to leave.
00:25:25.000 Is he not progressive?
00:25:25.000 Why?
00:25:27.000 Because he's white.
00:25:28.000 Because he's white!
00:25:30.000 That's literally the entire thing.
00:25:32.000 That's the entire thing.
00:25:34.000 A chorus of voices is rising.
00:25:35.000 Mr. Edge, say his critics, is a statue that needs to come down.
00:25:39.000 Author Lolis Eric Ellie, 57, a founder of the organization, says, I view him as a dear friend and a close ally, but principles don't mean anything until they cost you something.
00:25:46.000 And John T. is a man of great principle who may end up paying a great price in this context.
00:25:51.000 According to Marcy Cohen Ferris, 63, a former board president and professor emeritus at American Studies at UNC, University of North Carolina, what we have is a middle-aged man who, like so many progressive Southerners, has wrestled with the demons of his white Southern past and used that to help build a better South.
00:26:06.000 The reconciliation stance is no longer going to work in this nation.
00:26:09.000 It's about economics and justice.
00:26:11.000 This is it.
00:26:11.000 This is the moment.
00:26:14.000 So they're gonna force this guy.
00:26:15.000 He's a progressive.
00:26:16.000 They're going to force him out so that there can be a black person who takes his place.
00:26:21.000 That's literally the entire thing.
00:26:23.000 That's literally the entire thing.
00:26:25.000 There's a guy who wants his job, okay?
00:26:28.000 And his name is Tunde Wey, a Nigerian-born chef and writer.
00:26:33.000 And he wrote a piece talking about how he wanted Edge to step aside and give his position of power to an African-American woman.
00:26:39.000 So I guess he doesn't want the job.
00:26:40.000 He wants a black woman to take the job.
00:26:44.000 And then days later, Ronnie Lundy, 70, a founder in the organization, wrote a pointed Facebook post and delivered a letter calling for him to step aside.
00:26:51.000 Her litany of issues centered on sexism.
00:26:54.000 She said that it was a bro culture.
00:26:56.000 She said it was 15 symposiums before women were selected as a focal point in 2013.
00:27:00.000 So it doesn't matter how progressive you are.
00:27:04.000 It doesn't matter what you believe.
00:27:06.000 You'll be forced out if you are a participant in a system that has not been turned over to the right people, the people who are higher on the woke pyramid.
00:27:13.000 How bad is this?
00:27:14.000 The head of the College Democrats was forced to resign.
00:27:18.000 The head of the College Democrats was a person of color, apparently.
00:27:23.000 Her name is Mikayla Guido.
00:27:26.000 She was, I believe, of Hispanic descent.
00:27:30.000 And she was forced to resign.
00:27:32.000 Why?
00:27:32.000 Well, in an open letter published Tuesday, 41 of the College Democrats' 47 federations, representing 39 states, D.C.
00:27:38.000 and Puerto Rico, expressed solidarity with a black board member, Matthew Nowling.
00:27:42.000 Who's going to now take the place of the president.
00:27:45.000 Why?
00:27:46.000 Well, they demanded the resignation of the president, commitments from every board member they would not run for re-election or accept any future leadership position within the College Democrats, and amendments to the organization's governing documents.
00:27:58.000 Just before Guido stepped down on Wednesday afternoon, she appointed Nalling as vice president to the person who's calling for her to leave.
00:28:03.000 She appointed him as VP, and he accepted, meaning he takes over the organization.
00:28:08.000 Members said that, what did she do wrong?
00:28:10.000 Utterly unclear.
00:28:11.000 Their vote began when Mr. Nalling, 21, announced his resignation from the board on Saturday.
00:28:15.000 The open letter was first published with the signatures of 17 federations within hours.
00:28:19.000 That number had more than doubled.
00:28:21.000 Mr. Nalling, a student at Denison University in Ohio, who was elected to the board last year and began his term in September, said other members had routinely ignored his suggestions, demeaned him, and cast him as lazy and incompetent.
00:28:32.000 Okay, so?
00:28:33.000 Like, seriously, so?
00:28:35.000 He says that these are racist tropes used against black people for generations to prevent them from advancing in the workplace.
00:28:41.000 When he suggested the College Democrats host a town hall on diversity, he recalled in an interview on Tuesday, one board member laughed out loud.
00:28:47.000 Others did not take the idea seriously until a white member backed him up.
00:28:50.000 A board member once mocked his clothing as cheap and suggested he take it back to the thrift store.
00:28:54.000 On another occasion, a state federation leader complained he focused too much on black issues.
00:28:59.000 Nelling said that Guido had been complicit.
00:29:01.000 Guido's a law student at University of Florida.
00:29:03.000 She said she wasn't even aware of the allegations until he told her he was resigning.
00:29:06.000 And she had urged the offending board members to resign as soon as she found out, but it wasn't enough.
00:29:11.000 Then, she resigned.
00:29:12.000 Then she resigned.
00:29:15.000 She said, By the way, one of the Boeing chiefs, the Boeing communications chief, has now been forced out of his job.
00:29:18.000 Why?
00:29:18.000 need to make space for someone who does.
00:29:19.000 The cancelings will continue until morale improves.
00:29:23.000 By the way, one of the Boeing chiefs, the Boeing communications chief, has now been forced out of his job.
00:29:29.000 Why?
00:29:29.000 Because 33 years ago, he wrote a piece arguing women shouldn't be in combat.
00:29:33.000 Hey, that's like a hot topic right now.
00:29:36.000 Okay, the question of how far women should serve in combat, considering that the average woman is less physically strong than the average male.
00:29:43.000 I mean, this is like an open issue.
00:29:45.000 Okay, it's an open issue in Israel, like which positions.
00:29:47.000 And Israel has one of the most integrated bi-sex forces on planet Earth, right?
00:29:51.000 The IDF is very integrated between men and women.
00:29:53.000 There are specific areas where women generally do not serve in the IDF, as far as my understanding.
00:29:58.000 So this is a very hot issue now.
00:29:59.000 If you look at this, 33 years ago, 33 years ago, and they ousted him from Boeing.
00:30:05.000 He said, my argument was embarrassingly wrong and offensive.
00:30:08.000 The article is not a reflection of who I am.
00:30:09.000 Nonetheless, I've decided in the interest of the company, I will step down.
00:30:12.000 He said, at issue is not whether women can fire M60s, dogfight Migs, or drive tanks.
00:30:17.000 Introducing women into combat would destroy the exclusively male intangibles of warfighting and the feminine images of what men fight for, peace, home, and family.
00:30:25.000 Okay, like, not the best, but also, like, the very, by the way, one of those aspects is not necessarily the best, but the latter part of that sentence.
00:30:36.000 But the stuff about, like, how you have male camaraderie and that women don't necessarily fit directly into male camaraderie is 100% true.
00:30:42.000 And if you reverse the sexes, it would obviously be true and reverse as well.
00:30:45.000 And if you introduce a bunch of men into an all-women's group, it changes the math a little bit.
00:30:49.000 Right, pretending there's no difference between the sexes is very, very silly.
00:30:52.000 But even if you think that guy was wrong, it was 33 years ago, 33 years ago, with a perfectly legitimate general argument about women in combat positions.
00:31:03.000 Okay, like, what in the world?
00:31:05.000 What in the actual eff?
00:31:07.000 The best example of this, the best example of a counseling, I love this, this is fantastic.
00:31:11.000 So New York's education, New York City's Education Council is apparently just a complete bleep show.
00:31:15.000 So there was a hearing and everybody is socially distancing right now, so they did this all online.
00:31:21.000 And during the meeting, one board member of the New York City Education Council had a friend's kid over, the friend's nephew or something.
00:31:28.000 And the kid is a kid of color.
00:31:32.000 I'm not sure what the kid is, non-white, the kid.
00:31:34.000 The kid is either black or Hispanic, I believe.
00:31:36.000 And the board member takes the kid and puts the kid on his lap while in the middle of the meeting.
00:31:41.000 And a board member named Robin Broshy then starts, a white person, starts screaming at this guy that he's forwarding racism by having a child of color on his lap in a New York City Education Council meeting.
00:31:53.000 And here's what it sounded like.
00:31:56.000 It hurts people when they see a white man bouncing a brown baby on their lap!
00:32:02.000 And they don't know the context!
00:32:04.000 That is harmful!
00:32:06.000 That makes people cry!
00:32:08.000 It makes people log out of our meetings!
00:32:10.000 They don't come here!
00:32:12.000 Read Ibram Kendi!
00:32:14.000 Read White Fragility!
00:32:16.000 Read How to Talk to White People!
00:32:18.000 No!
00:32:18.000 It's not my job to educate you!
00:32:20.000 You're an educated white man!
00:32:22.000 My friend is going to educate And this is why no one should ever read Robin DiAngelo.
00:32:28.000 Ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.
00:32:32.000 So, what does, so Joe Biden, he says that he's gonna transform the nation, right?
00:32:36.000 This is his pledge.
00:32:38.000 He tweeted out that he is going to transform the nation.
00:32:40.000 He said, we're going to beat Donald Trump, and when we do, we won't just rebuild this nation, we'll transform it.
00:32:45.000 And so there are many of us who look at what's going on in the country, we say, well, I wonder what you mean by transforming the country, slow old Joe.
00:32:51.000 What do you mean?
00:32:52.000 Do you mean that you're in favor of listening to the folks who want to tear down Washington statues, or do you mean that you're in favor of a cancel culture that goes after people for the great sin of being white in progressive organizations?
00:33:01.000 Like, what exactly are we talking about here?
00:33:03.000 Do you mean that you want to destroy, like so many on your radical left flank do, America's history, her culture?
00:33:09.000 Her notion of philosophy?
00:33:12.000 Are you going to be the bulwark against the radical left here?
00:33:15.000 Because understand, for a lot of people, whatever Trump's flaws, whatever Trump's problems, and believe me, I have detailed them extensively on this program.
00:33:22.000 Whatever the problems you have with Donald Trump, the vast majority of people who support Trump, support Trump not because they believe that Trump is some sort of incredibly pure human being.
00:33:32.000 They believe that he is a bulwark against what's coming.
00:33:35.000 It is that simple.
00:33:36.000 And the more radical the left is, the more they see Trump as just the guy standing in the breach.
00:33:39.000 Okay, so against that backdrop, Trump goes to Mount Rushmore, and he gives what I think is the most important speech of his presidency.
00:33:45.000 I thought it was nearly letter-perfect.
00:33:48.000 I really did.
00:33:48.000 I thought it was a great speech.
00:33:50.000 Now, I wish that he had given a little bit more of a nuanced version of American history, but that's really my only critique.
00:33:55.000 The generalized The theme of the speech is exactly right.
00:34:00.000 I don't know who wrote this one, but this is probably the best speech he's ever given.
00:34:03.000 It wasn't delivered the best that he's ever delivered a speech, because whenever you get teleprompter Trump, he's not as exciting and fun as the guy who goes to rallies and sort of riffs about going downstairs and stuff.
00:34:12.000 But it was a really well-written speech.
00:34:14.000 And if people were honest in the slightest about this, they would recognize that what he's saying ought to be utterly uncontroversial, but it is not.
00:34:21.000 And so again, we get the two media narratives that are going to come out of the speech.
00:34:23.000 We're going to play a lot of the speech now.
00:34:25.000 We're going to get the two media narratives that come out of the speech and keep them in the back of your mind.
00:34:29.000 Keep them in your mind so you know that when you're listening to the speech, you can spot the lies just by listening to the speech.
00:34:33.000 One is, everything he's criticizing isn't happening.
00:34:37.000 It's all a lie.
00:34:39.000 The gaslight is not turned down.
00:34:41.000 It's all a lie.
00:34:41.000 It's figment of his imagination.
00:34:42.000 That's line number one.
00:34:43.000 And then line number two is that the president of the United States was doing all of this in order to honor Confederates.
00:34:50.000 That this whole speech was truly about saving Confederate memorials, which is more solid ground for Democrats, right?
00:34:55.000 They claim that they want to remove Washington statues.
00:34:57.000 Most Americans are like, no, not up for it.
00:34:58.000 They say they want to remove a statue of Stonewall Jackson.
00:35:00.000 People are like, OK, maybe.
00:35:02.000 OK, but.
00:35:03.000 Trump at no point did any of that.
00:35:04.000 So the media are just lying about this.
00:35:05.000 They called the speech dark.
00:35:07.000 They called it depressing.
00:35:08.000 It is nothing of the sort.
00:35:09.000 Nothing.
00:35:10.000 Nothing.
00:35:11.000 I've rarely seen a case of the media openly lying, like openly.
00:35:15.000 Usually they try to hide it.
00:35:16.000 This is just open lying.
00:35:17.000 They assume, like everybody else assumes, that you're not going to listen to Trump's speech.
00:35:20.000 They assume you're not gonna sit through a half-hour, 35-minute speech from the President of the United States, and you'll just read the headline from the Washington Post or the New York Times.
00:35:28.000 That's the assumption.
00:35:29.000 And so they run headlines like these.
00:35:31.000 Okay, this was the LA Times headline.
00:35:32.000 At Mount Rushmore, Trump uses 4th of July celebration to stoke a culture war.
00:35:36.000 Right, he started, he started the culture war.
00:35:38.000 Not the people tearing down statues and getting white progressives fired from their positions, and cleansing newsrooms of the evil editors who run Tom Cotton op-eds, and using universities to bat, to, to, To hurl brick bats at particular professors?
00:35:53.000 To rewrite American history?
00:35:55.000 To suggest that the Declaration of Independence is a document of evil, and that July 4th is not Independence Day, but is Repression Day?
00:36:02.000 Trump started the culture war.
00:36:03.000 The LA Times and Mount Rushmore.
00:36:04.000 Trump uses 4th of July celebration to stoke a culture war.
00:36:07.000 New York Times.
00:36:08.000 Trump uses Mount Rushmore speech to deliver divisive culture war message.
00:36:12.000 He started it, right?
00:36:13.000 Associated Press.
00:36:14.000 These are, again, remember, these are objective news reports.
00:36:17.000 Associated Press.
00:36:18.000 Trump pushes racial division, flouts virus rules at Rushmore.
00:36:22.000 As you'll see, there's not a word of racial division in the speech.
00:36:24.000 Not one.
00:36:25.000 Not one iota.
00:36:26.000 At all.
00:36:27.000 Zero.
00:36:27.000 Zip.
00:36:27.000 Zilch.
00:36:28.000 Washington Post and Mount Rushmore, Trump exploits social divisions, warns of left-wing cultural revolution, in dark speech ahead of Independence Day.
00:36:37.000 Robert Costa at the Washington Post tweeted out President Trump's unyielding push to preserve Confederate symbols, which he didn't mention not a one time in this entire speech, and the legacy of white domination.
00:36:48.000 The legacy of white domination was crystallized by his harsh denunciation of the racial justice movement Friday night at Mount Rushmore.
00:36:54.000 Okay, if you would just read these, honestly, if you just read these headlines, what you would come away with is this is a fascist speech.
00:37:01.000 In fact, there are a bunch of people who hate Trump, of course, who said exactly that.
00:37:05.000 Right, Jennifer Rubin, ha ha ha, the so-called conservative columnist, she finally removed it from her Washington Post profile.
00:37:12.000 She says it was a darkly aggressive and fascistic speech, positing that his enemies want to destroy America and eradicate its history.
00:37:21.000 Well, hold up.
00:37:23.000 They literally want to destroy America and eradicate its history.
00:37:26.000 That's not the only reason to oppose Trump.
00:37:27.000 Many of Trump's opponents don't want to do that.
00:37:28.000 But there are some opponents of Trump, many, who do in fact want to eradicate America's history and destroy the country.
00:37:35.000 Max Boot, another one of these former never Trumpers.
00:37:38.000 And again, I say that advisedly because I didn't vote for Trump in 2016.
00:37:42.000 But there's a bunch of people who are driven completely off the deep end.
00:37:45.000 Max Boot wrote a piece today titled, Trump is running an openly racist campaign.
00:37:50.000 He said the speech was openly racist, openly racist.
00:37:54.000 He says, in his Friday night speech at Mount Rushmore, Trump unveiled a new set of enemies that he prefers to battle instead until November.
00:38:00.000 His supporters ignored the actual dangers they faced as they packed in, mainly without masks, to listen to Trump invade against largely imaginary foes.
00:38:07.000 Right, there's the gaslighting.
00:38:08.000 It's imaginary.
00:38:09.000 None of this exists.
00:38:10.000 None of this exists.
00:38:11.000 It's all imaginary, guys.
00:38:13.000 It's all in your head.
00:38:14.000 What in the heck is he talking about?
00:38:15.000 Says Max Boot.
00:38:17.000 Only someone who binge watches Fox News, in scare quotes, as Trump does, can imagine that violent hordes are marauding through U.S.
00:38:24.000 Most of the demonstration occurred weeks ago, and they were overwhelmingly peaceful.
00:38:24.000 cities.
00:38:27.000 Okay, now you're just crazy.
00:38:30.000 Now what you're saying, like, I'm sorry, I'm not going to be gaslit this way.
00:38:33.000 I was locked in my house at 6 p.m.
00:38:35.000 every night for a week because marauding whores were burning Melrose Avenue.
00:38:39.000 Don't give me that it was mostly peaceful crowds who were shutting down the entire city of Los Angeles.
00:38:43.000 In fact, the entire county of Los Angeles at 6 p.m.
00:38:46.000 every night and Beverly Hills at 1 p.m.
00:38:47.000 Okay, that's just absolute sheer nonsense.
00:38:52.000 Or that millions of political dissidents are being fired for disagreeing with the new far-left fascism.
00:38:55.000 No one said millions, but a lot.
00:38:57.000 A lot.
00:38:58.000 And by the way, you don't have to fire that many people for people to get the threat.
00:39:02.000 I can't tell you how many... I probably received at this point hundreds of emails from people saying, I want to speak out against something happening in my company.
00:39:09.000 I'm dead afraid to do it.
00:39:10.000 I mean, we get calls like this on our radio show every single day, multiple a day.
00:39:13.000 People saying, my company just did something crazy.
00:39:15.000 I'm afraid to speak out about it because if I do speak out about it, I'm gonna get fired.
00:39:18.000 But it's all a figment of your imagination.
00:39:20.000 All a figment.
00:39:20.000 Those are the two lines.
00:39:21.000 He's a fascist.
00:39:22.000 A deep, evil, racist fascist.
00:39:24.000 And it's all a figment of your imagination.
00:39:25.000 Never happened.
00:39:26.000 When you get to Trump's speech, which was great.
00:39:28.000 It is a good speech.
00:39:29.000 It is a very good speech.
00:39:30.000 And you actually have to listen to the speech.
00:39:32.000 For all you morons who just read the headlines and don't actually listen to the speech.
00:39:36.000 Listen to the speech.
00:39:37.000 We'll get to it in just one second.

00:41:25.000 All righty.
00:41:32.000 So now here's President Trump's speech.
00:41:33.000 So President Trump goes to Mount Rushmore.
00:41:35.000 There are a couple things about the speech that we should mention up front.
00:41:39.000 I have suggested for a while that President Trump is doing something that is politically unwise when he has these mass rallies where a lot of people are not wearing masks.
00:41:45.000 It just gives the media an excuse to blame the COVID-19 spread on him after spending weeks pretending that if you're protesting for the right reasons, then you're immune to COVID.
00:41:54.000 There's a story over the weekend, the bubonic plague has broke out now in China, which is very scary until you realize that as long as we are protesting systemic American racism, we're all fine.
00:42:01.000 It doesn't matter.
00:42:02.000 If you go out in the streets and people have the bubos and they've got like the big old, they've got all of the various accoutrements of bubonic plague, everything is totally fine so long as you are protesting the right cause.
00:42:15.000 As long as you're kneeling on the American flag, everything is totally cool.
00:42:18.000 That comforted me a little bit, but if you go to a Trump rally, then you might get bubonic plague.
00:42:22.000 Okay, that's the media's narrative.
00:42:24.000 It's not wise to play into that, but the speech itself is very good.
00:42:28.000 And it points out the key problem in American society, which is, yes, there are a group of people in America right now who wish to see the union disintegrated.
00:42:36.000 There are a group of people, I call them disintegrationists in my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps, who want to see America's history or philosophy or culture destroyed.
00:42:44.000 They want to see it wiped away.
00:42:45.000 They do.
00:42:46.000 This is not a figment of your imagination and you're not crazy for believing it.
00:42:49.000 All you have to do is talk to a college student who has been studying Howard Zinn with their idiot professor.
00:42:53.000 All you have to do.
00:42:55.000 is watch CNN, where they put Independence Day in scare quotes.
00:42:58.000 All you have to do is listen to Senator Tammy Duckworth, a sitting United States Senator, shift her position on Mount Rushmore from, I'm gonna celebrate Mount Rushmore five years ago, to maybe we should think about whether we need to pull down statues of George Washington.
00:43:10.000 Nancy Pelosi, by the way, has said we ought to have those conversations as well.
00:43:13.000 Yes, there is a move afoot, a very strong move to rewrite America's history, to rewrite the constitutional bargain, and to tear apart whatever semblance of unity we could possibly hold.
00:43:23.000 So, against that backdrop, that's what Trump is speaking against.
00:43:26.000 He did not start this fight.
00:43:28.000 This fight was already going on before he entered office.
00:43:30.000 In fact, Trump was the reaction to that.
00:43:33.000 Trump was the reaction to the attempted rewriting of American history as evil and terrible and no good and very bad.
00:43:39.000 The 1619 Project, which came about during Trump's presidency and was a reaction in large part to Trump, It's not as though the predicate for that hasn't been laid over the past decades.
00:43:46.000 It's just warmed over Howard Zinn.
00:43:48.000 It's very clear with the 1619 Project and all of its inglorious, terrible, historic retellings what it is.
00:43:55.000 This has been an ongoing culture war for a very long time.
00:43:58.000 Trump arrives and it kicks into high gear.
00:43:59.000 So, Trump speaks about it.
00:44:01.000 He starts off by saying something what should be absolutely uncontroversial and would be from any other president, right?
00:44:07.000 Which is, America is pretty damned great.
00:44:10.000 And guess what?
00:44:10.000 The men on the mountain were great men.
00:44:13.000 That doesn't mean that they were sinless men, but they were great men.
00:44:15.000 And pointing out they were great men does not mean that you have to overlook their sins.
00:44:18.000 Here is President Trump talking about this yesterday.
00:44:22.000 There could be no better place to celebrate America's independence than beneath this magnificent, incredible, majestic mountain monument to the greatest Americans who have ever lived.
00:44:37.000 Today we pay tribute to the exceptional lives and extraordinary legacies of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt.
00:44:48.000 I am here as your president to proclaim before the country and before the world, this monument will never be desecrated.
00:44:57.000 These heroes will never be defaced.
00:45:03.000 Their legacy will never, ever be destroyed.
00:45:08.000 Their achievements will never be forgotten.
00:45:12.000 And Mount Rushmore will stand forever as an eternal tribute to our forefathers and to our freedom.
00:45:21.000 Now, what's hilarious to me about the media reaction to this is that Trump is talking about people who literally are calling for the destruction of Mount Rushmore.
00:45:28.000 They've actually talked about this.
00:45:29.000 They've said that Mount Rushmore is bad.
00:45:31.000 There have been headlines from the Washington Post and the New York Times in the last week, saying it's on stolen Native American territory, which again, the New York Times is located in, last I checked, Manhattan, which was bought for a few beads.
00:45:43.000 Okay, so the New York Times is free to hand over its building anytime it wants to Native tribes.
00:45:47.000 I do not think they're going to do that anytime in the near future.
00:45:49.000 It's very expensive territory.
00:45:51.000 But the media have said, well, who wants to tear down Mount Rushmore?
00:45:54.000 Nobody wants to tear down Mount Rushmore.
00:45:55.000 How could you even imply that people want to tear down Mount Rushmore?
00:45:58.000 The same people who are upset with the implication that Trump is making that people want to tear down Mount Rushmore cannot understand why anybody would be upset with the sloganeering about Black Lives Matter because many of us are upset with the implication that there are a bunch of people in America who think black lives don't matter.
00:46:12.000 That's the objection that people have to saying black lives matter.
00:46:14.000 Not that they don't think black lives matter, but that they are annoyed by the implication that there are a bunch of Americans who think black lives don't matter.
00:46:20.000 So the media read deeply into every implication that Trump says, and then ignore the fact that his implications happen to be true.
00:46:27.000 Well, at the same time, ripping on conservatives who suggest that the implications of certain phrases are unsupported by evidence.
00:46:34.000 Okay, Trump continues along these lines and he talks up July 4th.
00:46:37.000 Again, all of this stuff is wildly uncontroversial.
00:46:39.000 Now, okay, I want you to, let's see if you can spot it.
00:46:41.000 Can you spot the darkness here?
00:46:43.000 The darkness and the malevolence and the calls for racial division anywhere in here?
00:46:47.000 I'm gonna play a lot of clips of President Trump now.
00:46:49.000 See if you can spot it anywhere because I gotta be honest with you.
00:46:52.000 I'm missing it because I have eyes and I have ears and these things function.
00:46:55.000 So if I'm not, I feel like I feel like I would get it if it were there.
00:46:59.000 I feel like I would.
00:47:00.000 Here's President Trump talking up July 4th, which here's the here's the reality.
00:47:03.000 People think that he's racist because he's talking up July 4th.
00:47:06.000 They actually agree with Colin Kaepernick.
00:47:07.000 They think that Independence Day is bad and evil, which means that Trump is correct.
00:47:11.000 Here's President Trump.
00:47:13.000 We gather tonight to herald the most important day In the history of nations, July 4th, 1776.
00:47:24.000 At those words, every American heart should swell with pride.
00:47:29.000 Every American family should cheer with delight.
00:47:32.000 And every American patriot should be filled with joy.
00:47:37.000 Because each of you lives in the most magnificent country in the history of the world.
00:47:44.000 And it will soon be greater than ever before.
00:47:47.000 Why is this controversial?
00:47:49.000 President Obama used to say this kind of stuff all the time.
00:47:51.000 It was not the end of the world.
00:47:53.000 Trump says it and it's apparently the end of the world because they can read the seething racism pouring out of his orange head.
00:47:59.000 He's a bad orange man.
00:48:01.000 So everything he says, he can say the exact same words as Barack Obama in the exact same way.
00:48:05.000 And it's like, well, but Obama meant because he was peddling the moral arc of history toward justice for Donald Trump.
00:48:11.000 Donald Trump is evil, evil man, very evil.
00:48:14.000 Here's President Trump talking up the founding fathers and saying a true thing.
00:48:18.000 Our founders launched not only a revolution in government, but a revolution in the pursuit of justice, equality, liberty and prosperity.
00:48:29.000 No nation has done more to advance the human condition than the United States of America.
00:48:36.000 And no people have done more to promote human progress than the citizens of our great nation.
00:48:43.000 Okay, so the speech is beautifully written.
00:48:45.000 It's not, like, incredibly well delivered here, but it doesn't matter.
00:48:47.000 The president's message is spot on.
00:48:50.000 And the fact that no Democrat would give the speech is incredibly telling.
00:48:53.000 It's incredibly telling.
00:48:54.000 There is nothing controversial in this speech.
00:48:57.000 There is nothing that should be controversial in the speech.
00:48:59.000 Here's President Trump suggesting that the 56 patriots who gathered in Philadelphia were good.
00:49:04.000 We're doing a good thing.
00:49:05.000 Which again, if you're living in America and experience the glories of its benefits, you should recognize.
00:49:09.000 Okay, and we all are.
00:49:11.000 Okay, the greatest privilege on planet Earth right now is being an American.
00:49:14.000 That is a privilege.
00:49:15.000 Okay, that is a privilege.
00:49:17.000 Not white privilege.
00:49:18.000 Not wealth privilege.
00:49:19.000 Living in the United States is a privilege.
00:49:21.000 And if you don't believe me, try living in China and see how it goes for you.
00:49:25.000 Truly.
00:49:26.000 There are true repressive places on Earth.
00:49:27.000 America is not one of them.
00:49:29.000 Here's the president.
00:49:31.000 It was all made possible by the courage of 56 patriots who gathered in Philadelphia 244 years ago and signed the Declaration of Independence.
00:49:44.000 They enshrined a divine truth that changed the world forever when they said, all men are created equal.
00:49:54.000 These immortal words set in motion the unstoppable march of freedom.
00:50:00.000 Our founders boldly declared that we are all endowed with the same divine rights given us by our creator in heaven.
00:50:11.000 And that which God has given us, we will allow no one ever to take away, ever.
00:50:19.000 Okay, so again, Nothing controversial here.
00:50:22.000 Are you hearing the darkness?
00:50:23.000 Are you hearing the despair?
00:50:24.000 Are you hearing the racial division?
00:50:26.000 I'm not.
00:50:26.000 Okay, so here's where President Trump starts going after the people who are actually attempting to tear down American history.
00:50:32.000 The people I call disintegrationists in the book.
00:50:34.000 Right?
00:50:34.000 Here's where he goes after them.
00:50:35.000 His characterization of them is accurate.
00:50:37.000 He's not making it up.
00:50:38.000 It's not out of his head.
00:50:40.000 It's not him creating figments of his imagination or fake enemies, as Max Boot suggests.
00:50:44.000 Because I just spent I spent half an hour describing to you just the stuff that happened over the weekend that proves that what he is saying is not fake.
00:50:44.000 How do I know that?
00:50:51.000 Here's the president talking about people who wish to destroy our common history.
00:50:56.000 1776 represented the culmination of thousands of years of Western civilization and the triumph of not only spirit, but of wisdom, philosophy, and reason.
00:51:10.000 And yet, as we meet here tonight, There is a growing danger that threatens every blessing our ancestors fought so hard for, struggled, they bled to secure.
00:51:26.000 Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, to fame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children.
00:51:38.000 Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, To face our most sacred memorials and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities.
00:51:51.000 Many of these people have no idea why they're doing this, but some know exactly what they are doing.
00:51:58.000 They think the American people are weak, and soft, and submissive.
00:52:06.000 But no, the American people are strong and proud, and they will not allow our country And all of its values, history, and culture to be taken from them.
00:52:18.000 Okay, so which part of that's false?
00:52:21.000 There are angry mobs trying to tear down statues of the founders.
00:52:24.000 They're literally doing it, like, right now.
00:52:26.000 Also, they are trying to erase our values and defame our heroes and do all of these things and indoctrinate our kids.
00:52:31.000 And we talk about that, like, where's the lie?
00:52:33.000 Show me the lie.
00:52:34.000 Okay, then the president goes on and he describes cancel culture.
00:52:37.000 Which, again, is absolutely real.
00:52:39.000 And if you don't believe me that it's real, ask the former editor of Bon Appetit, ask the guy from the Southern Food Association who's currently being canceled, ask the former editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer or the former op-ed editor over at the New York Times.
00:52:48.000 Why don't you ask Nicholas Christakis over at Yale?
00:52:50.000 Because he's not at Yale anymore.
00:52:51.000 Or Brett Weinstein over at Evergreen State College.
00:52:53.000 He's not ever at Evergreen State College anymore.
00:52:55.000 Ask Brendan Eich over at Mozilla Firefox.
00:52:57.000 Yes, these things are real.
00:52:59.000 Cancel culture is quite real.
00:53:00.000 It is very, very real.
00:53:02.000 And it comes for us all sooner or later.
00:53:05.000 My suggestion has been we just all cancel.
00:53:06.000 Let's just declare universal canceling.
00:53:08.000 And then if everybody is canceled, nobody is canceled.
00:53:10.000 But the president goes after cancel culture, which is ugly and terrible.
00:53:13.000 And again, show me the lie.
00:53:15.000 You can't.
00:53:16.000 It's real.
00:53:18.000 One of their political weapons is cancel culture, driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees.
00:53:32.000 This is the very definition of totalitarianism.
00:53:37.000 And it is completely alien to our culture and to our values.
00:53:41.000 And it has absolutely no place in the United States of America.
00:53:47.000 So naturally, the media wished to ignore what Trump is saying here.
00:53:50.000 So instead, what they decided they're going to do is just point out that he can't pronounce totalitarianism in that particular clip.
00:53:56.000 That's the key.
00:53:56.000 That's the key.
00:53:57.000 They're going to say, cancel culture doesn't exist.
00:53:59.000 Literally, there are people online whose entire job is to try and cancel other people.
00:54:03.000 And literally their entire job is, all they do all day long, is they try and find a way to cancel members of the media they don't like, or outlets they don't like.
00:54:10.000 And then they tweet out things like, cancel culture isn't real.
00:54:12.000 I am not kidding you.
00:54:13.000 This is a real thing that happens.
00:54:14.000 Okay, so again, show me the lie.
00:54:17.000 Spot the lie.
00:54:18.000 And spot the divisive racial language.
00:54:23.000 Where's the division?
00:54:24.000 Where is it?
00:54:25.000 I'm missing it.
00:54:26.000 But according to the media, he declared the culture war.
00:54:29.000 Not only did he declare the culture war, this speech was about defending Confederate monuments.
00:54:32.000 I'm not kidding.
00:54:33.000 This is what they said.
00:54:34.000 And they said that this was a dark, divisive, and horrible speech.
00:54:37.000 Here is the president suggesting, correctly, that cancel culture has now infused most of our major institutions.
00:54:43.000 In our schools, our newsrooms, Even our corporate boardrooms.
00:54:49.000 There is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance.
00:54:56.000 If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted, and punished.
00:55:13.000 It's not going to happen to us.
00:55:15.000 Make no mistake.
00:55:17.000 This left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution.
00:55:27.000 In so doing, they would destroy the very civilization that rescued billions from poverty, disease, violence, and hunger, and that lifted humanity to new heights of achievement, discovery, and progress.
00:55:42.000 To make this possible, they are determined to tear down every statue Symbol and memory of our national heritage.
00:55:53.000 Correct.
00:55:54.000 Correct.
00:55:54.000 Yeah, this is all right.
00:55:56.000 It's obviously true.
00:55:58.000 But again, the gaslighting continues apace.
00:56:00.000 And then he talks about how they've rewritten American history, which of course is correct.
00:56:04.000 And he talks about how any movement that seeks to dismantle these treasured American legacies can't really love America.
00:56:10.000 What they want to do is transform America.
00:56:12.000 Which, by the way, is the language that Joe Biden then purposefully used over the weekend.
00:56:16.000 Trump said, these people want to transform America, and that's what Joe Biden says he wants to do, is transform America.
00:56:22.000 Now, here's the most amazing thing.
00:56:23.000 People called this speech racist.
00:56:25.000 They said it was racist.
00:56:26.000 Okay, I'm going to play a clip now that is not only not racist, it is openly anti-racism, right?
00:56:34.000 So here's President Trump speaking universal principles from our Declaration of Independence.
00:56:40.000 And again, you tell me, where's the white supremacist message here?
00:56:44.000 I've been told that this is a white supremacist speech.
00:56:46.000 See if you can spot the white supremacist message embedded in this particular clip.
00:56:50.000 We will state the truth in full without apology.
00:56:56.000 We declare that the United States of America is the most just and exceptional nation ever to exist on Earth.
00:57:04.000 We are proud of the fact that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, and we understand that these values have dramatically advanced the cause of peace and justice throughout the world.
00:57:21.000 We know that the American family is the bedrock of American life.
00:57:27.000 We believe in equal opportunity, equal justice, and equal treatment for citizens of every race, background, religion, and creed.
00:57:38.000 Every child of every color, born and unborn, is made in the holy image of God.
00:57:46.000 We want free and open debate, not speech codes and cancel culture.
00:57:52.000 We embrace tolerance, not prejudice.
00:57:55.000 We support the courageous men and women of law enforcement.
00:58:00.000 We will never abolish our police or our great Second Amendment, which gives us the right to keep and bear arms.
00:58:09.000 We believe that our children Should be taught to love their country, honor their history, and respect our great American flag.
00:58:19.000 We stand tall, we stand proud, and we only kneel to almighty God.
00:58:26.000 Does that sound dark and terrible to you?
00:58:27.000 Any of that?
00:58:28.000 If it does, then I think that you're getting America wrong.
00:58:29.000 Because that seems like pablum, right?
00:58:32.000 I mean, that is honestly just bumper sticker stuff that every American should believe, right?
00:58:37.000 That's like the easiest thing in the world.
00:58:38.000 That's the stuff you learn about America when you're in third grade.
00:58:40.000 We want free and open bait.
00:58:41.000 We like tolerance, not prejudice.
00:58:43.000 We support law enforcement.
00:58:44.000 We don't want to abolish the police.
00:58:46.000 We think people should love the country.
00:58:48.000 This is very easy stuff.
00:58:49.000 This is American is apple pie, motherhood is good kind of stuff.
00:58:52.000 Where is the racism in, we believe in equal opportunity, equal justice, and equal treatment for citizens of every race, background, religion, and creed.
00:58:58.000 Every child of every color, born and unborn, is made in the holy image of God.
00:59:02.000 Is that racist to you?
00:59:03.000 Because I was told this speech was a racist, fascistic speech.
00:59:06.000 You're gonna have to explain it to me.
00:59:08.000 Really, I'm missing it.
00:59:09.000 By the way, he then talked about Martin Luther King, I think three separate times in the speech.
00:59:13.000 Three separate times in the speech.
00:59:15.000 And then he talked, he gave a list of people he considered American heroes.
00:59:18.000 And in this list of people he considered American heroes, he names, and we'll count them, one, okay, Frederick Douglass, The Tuskegee Airmen, Harriet Tubman, Jesse Owens, Louis Armstrong, Muhammad Ali, because he named at least six black Americans.
00:59:38.000 Also, I think he name-checked Ella Fitzgerald, too.
00:59:41.000 So that's seven black Americans, plus Martin Luther King, who he name-checked, I think, three times in the speech.
00:59:47.000 So in this deeply racist speech, he name-checks eight black people.
00:59:52.000 Clearly, this man is a vicious, vicious racist.
00:59:54.000 Clearly, he's a vicious, vicious racist.
00:59:58.000 Again, this is all perfectly obvious stuff.
01:00:02.000 The notion that this is a racist, fascistic speech is insane.
01:00:04.000 It's insane, I'm sorry.
01:00:05.000 And it's obviously a lie.
01:00:08.000 He says at one point, this is at clip 20, he says, we must demand our children are taught once again to see America as did Martin Luther King.
01:00:15.000 Here is clip 13.
01:00:18.000 We must demand that our children are taught once again to see America As did Reverend Martin Luther King when he said that the founders had signed a promissory note to every future generation.
01:00:34.000 Dr. King saw that the mission of justice required us to fully embrace our founding ideals.
01:00:42.000 Those ideals are so important to us.
01:00:47.000 The founding ideals.
01:00:49.000 He called on his fellow citizens not to rip down their heritage, but to live up to their heritage.
01:00:57.000 Above all, our children from every community must be taught that to be American is to inherit the spirit Sounds really dark and depressing, right?
01:01:14.000 Dark, depressing, terrible, fascistic, racist, standing up for confederate monuments which you never mentioned not once in the entire speech, in which you discussed abolitionism and Abraham Lincoln multiple times.
01:01:23.000 The media's lies are truly astonishing.
01:01:24.000 And you know what the media's lies are really about?
01:01:26.000 Really, in the end, they're about misdirection.
01:01:28.000 There are misdirection from true problems occurring in the country because it is more comfortable to talk about tearing down the system than it is to talk about real problems that are afflicting real people in the United States.
01:01:36.000 Over the weekend, a seven-year-old girl was shot to death in Chicago.
01:01:39.000 This isn't misdirection by me.
01:01:41.000 This is a real issue.
01:01:42.000 This is a dead person.
01:01:43.000 It is a dead child.
01:01:44.000 And apparently, it doesn't deserve to be at the top of the news.
01:01:47.000 What deserves to be at the top of the news is vague charges of systemic racism by police and defund the police, and the police are the bad guys.
01:01:53.000 According to the Chicago Sun-Times, a seven-year-old girl died Saturday after being shot at a family Fourth of July party in Austin, the third weekend in a row in Chicago that's seen a child under 10 among the city's shooting victims.
01:02:03.000 Clearly, this is all about the white supremacist system, right?
01:02:06.000 And that's what we should be focusing on.
01:02:07.000 The girl was playing on a sidewalk around 7 p.m.
01:02:09.000 in the 100 block of North Latrobe Avenue when three men got out of a white car and shot more than 20 times in the direction of the people holding the party, a group the police said included many children.
01:02:18.000 Well, the police said it, must've been the cops.
01:02:20.000 Probably it was the cops.
01:02:21.000 And there's a picture of her, obviously a beautiful little girl.
01:02:23.000 4th of July as they should have been, said Fred Waller, the Chicago Police Department's chief of operations.
01:02:27.000 The girl, identified by her family as Natalia Wallace, was shot in the forehead and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital.
01:02:33.000 An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.
01:02:35.000 And there's a picture of her, obviously, beautiful little girl.
01:02:37.000 It's just.
01:02:38.000 There are actual problems in this country, guys, and you're not facing them down.
01:02:42.000 You're not interested in them.
01:02:43.000 You're too busy calling Trump a racist for a speech that is not racist.
01:02:46.000 You're too busy suggesting that American history is a horror show and that July 4th is all about the repression of black people.
01:02:53.000 What did you do today to stop that shooting?
01:02:55.000 Seriously, what did you do today?
01:02:56.000 I want to hear about it.
01:02:57.000 I hear Black Lives Matter from the Black Lives Matter protesters.
01:02:59.000 What did you do today to stop that shooting?
01:03:01.000 Because on a statistical level, the people you ought to be worried about are the people who are murdered every day in places like Chicago.
01:03:08.000 That doesn't mean you have to ignore police brutality.
01:03:10.000 Police brutality should never be ignored.
01:03:12.000 It doesn't mean that we should ignore a racial shooting if you find one.
01:03:16.000 They're extremely rare if you can find one by the cops.
01:03:18.000 It doesn't mean we should ignore one bad thing to focus on another thing.
01:03:21.000 It does mean the lack of proportionality in terms of our attention does suggest something about your underlying view of the United States.
01:03:27.000 Okay, over the weekend, an eight-year-old child was murdered near that Wendy's in Atlanta.
01:03:33.000 Remember, how much time have we spent in this country talking about Rayshard Brooks?
01:03:37.000 Rayshard Brooks is the man who attacked two police officers, stole a taser off one, fired at an officer, fired at another officer before he was shot.
01:03:43.000 Generated a national news story.
01:03:45.000 A national news story.
01:03:46.000 How much attention do you think is going to be paid to an eight-year-old child who was murdered near a Wendy's in Atlanta yesterday?
01:03:51.000 And by the way, you want to talk about a horrifying story.
01:03:54.000 Apparently, this happened right near the Wendy's.
01:03:56.000 What exactly happened?
01:03:58.000 Well, the police identified the girl as Sequoia Turner.
01:04:01.000 She was shot as she and her mom tried parking in a liquor store lot near an armed civilian's barricade around the Wendy's where Rayshard Brooks was killed.
01:04:09.000 So the car was stopped by criminals who then shot into the car and murdered a child.
01:04:15.000 And murdered a child.
01:04:16.000 When the driver attempted to enter a liquor store parking lot on the 1200 block of Pryor Road, police say he was confronted by a group of armed individuals who had blocked the entrance.
01:04:24.000 By the way, the Democrats are considering the mayor of Atlanta as a possible VP candidate for Joe Biden.
01:04:29.000 Protesters had recently erected illegal barricades, according to authorities, encircling the nearby Wendy's, where Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by an Atlanta police officer last month.
01:04:37.000 At some point during the confrontation, according to the mayor, she said at least two men fired multiple times at the vehicle, killing an eight-year-old girl.
01:04:45.000 Well done.
01:04:46.000 Well, but the cops are the problem.
01:04:48.000 Clearly, we need fewer cops in Atlanta.
01:04:49.000 That would solve the problem.
01:04:51.000 The parents of this little girl were on the news talking about this, saying, you say Black Lives Matter, and then you killed a child.
01:04:59.000 Like, the footage is heartbreaking.
01:05:02.000 It's just heartbreaking.
01:05:04.000 They say Black Lives Matter.
01:05:07.000 You killed your own.
01:05:09.000 Killed your own anytime.
01:05:11.000 - They killed my baby because she crossed the barrier and made a U-turn, you killed a child.
01:05:18.000 She ain't do nothing to nobody. - They didn't give us time to make a U-turn.
01:05:22.000 They started shoving on my car before we could even make a U-turn.
01:05:26.000 Shooing my tires out, like why? - Black lives matter.
01:05:30.000 - Okay, this is not, we should never, we should never ignore problems that are happening when it comes to, again, police brutality, or racism, or anything like that.
01:05:39.000 Nobody wants to, including police officers.
01:05:41.000 I know many of them.
01:05:42.000 None of them want brutality and racism in their ranks.
01:05:46.000 There are a few of them who are bad people, just like in every profession that has hundreds of thousands of employees, they're bad people.
01:05:52.000 But the amount of attention that we in the United States are paying to the evils of police officers, when the solution to problems like the one you're having in Chicago or Atlanta is more police, not fewer, it demonstrates an underlying view of the country that is simply untenable and wrong.
