The Racist Left Only Cares About Anti-Asian Hate When They Can Blame “Whiteness” | Ep. 1218

Summary

Eight people were shot and killed at three massage parlors in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday, six of whom were of Asian descent. The suspect has been charged with eight counts of murder, but no charges have been brought against him for the crimes. According to reports, the shooter told authorities he had a sex addiction and may have frequented one of the spas, but it's too early to determine if this was a hate crime. The media, however, are quick to point the finger at whiteness as the cause of anti-Asian hate, but the truth is much darker. The left decries anti- Asian hate but only when they believe the culprit is whiteness, and the left's racist vision of equity infuses America's government and boardrooms. 00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:08.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.

00:00:24.000 Alrighty, so the news of the day remains this horrific shooting in Atlanta.
00:00:29.000 According to USA Today, authorities on Wednesday said a gunman suspected of killing eight people, six of whom were Asian women, at three spas may have frequented the business, but that it was too early to determine if the shootings would in fact be considered a hate crime.
00:00:41.000 At least four of the victims of the Atlanta-area spas shootings were women of Korean descent, South Korea's foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
00:00:47.000 Two others were of Asian descent, police said.
00:00:49.000 Atlanta police chief Rodney Bryant said it was too soon in the investigation to say whether the shootings were in fact a hate crime.
00:00:54.000 He said we're just not there yet.
00:00:55.000 The suspect, whose name we won't mention because we don't mention mass shooting suspects' names to give them The attention that they seek here was charged with eight counts of murder Wednesday in all three shootings.
00:01:04.000 Four of the counts against this person are related to shootings at the two spas in Atlanta.
00:01:08.000 The other four related to shootings at a spa in Cherokee County.
00:01:12.000 The shooter has not been charged with a hate crime.
00:01:13.000 A specific charge authorities must prove a crime was committed on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, or sexual orientation.
00:01:19.000 He purchased a firearm on Tuesday, the day of the attacks from a sporting goods store in Cherokee County.
00:01:24.000 The shop's attorney said the clients are fully cooperating with the police.
00:01:28.000 According to the Cherokee County Sheriff Frank Reynolds, he said that the shooter told authorities his actions were not racially motivated, and that, in fact, he had a sex addiction.
00:01:37.000 All three spas that were shot up were listed on an erotic review site that allows users to search for and review illicit massage parlors.
00:01:43.000 The site is the most popular of its kind, where buyers who call themselves hobbyists or mongers looking for sex go to find and share information, according to a study by Polaris, a nonprofit group that operates the National Human Trafficking Line.
00:01:54.000 Aromatherapy Spa and Gold Spa, both in Atlanta, have around 100 reviews, many recent.
00:01:58.000 A review for Goldspawn March 9th indicated it was full service, as did a similar review from five days prior.
00:02:02.000 Young's Asian Massage in Acworth, Georgia has 39 reviews on this particular site, the latest posted in February.
00:02:09.000 Apparently, there is no criminal record for the shooter.
00:02:11.000 In 2019, the shooter's parents reported him missing when he ran off with his girlfriend.
00:02:14.000 Authorities note in the 2019 report his parents said that the shooter was not suicidal, didn't take any medication, and had no mental illness.
00:02:21.000 Okay, so here is the sheriff discussing what was the possible motive here.
00:02:26.000 The sheriff says that this may have been about the shooter having a sex addiction and then wanting to Shoot sex workers as a result of his sex addiction and guilt over his sex addiction, which of course is a tremendous act of evil.
00:02:37.000 But he says we are not sure at this point whether this in fact is a hate crime or not, whether this was targeting Asians or whether he was doing this act of evil out of some other motivation.
00:02:46.000 He made indicators that he has some issues, potentially sexual addiction, and may have frequented some of these places in the past.
00:03:00.000 But the working theory is a sexual addiction issue rather than a racial profile.
00:03:04.000 During our interviews, we asked that specific question and and that did not appear to be the motive.
00:03:12.000 OK, and this, of course, is not what our media wanted to hear.
00:03:17.000 What our media wanted to hear is that this was just the latest outgrowth of a spate of anti-Asian hate that has swept the nation in 2020-2021.
00:03:26.000 Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has been a spike in anti-Asian hate crime.
00:03:30.000 But what the media would like to say is that this is because of President Trump, and this is because of white hate for Asian Americans.
00:03:37.000 The reality is that the media do not care about anti-Asian hate.
00:03:39.000 They've not cared about anti-Asian hate for a very long time.
00:03:42.000 They only care about anti-Asian hate as just another way of ripping, quote-unquote, whiteness or ripping Trump.
00:03:48.000 The fact of the matter is, unfortunately, all anti-Asian hate, all racism is bad, but only certain types of racism are bad, according to the left.
00:03:56.000 All animals are equal, but only some animals are more equal than others.
00:03:59.000 That's the way that it works in Leftville.
00:04:01.000 So when it comes to the Left and anti-Asian hate, they only care about anti-Asian hate when it can be attributed to whiteness, or to a broader white supremacy, or to something else.
00:04:10.000 And they don't need evidence to actually show this.
00:04:13.000 OK, there's an actual CNN headline.
00:04:14.000 I'm not kidding you.
00:04:15.000 There's a CNN headline today that is so beyond the pale that it just demonstrates exactly where the media's head is at when it comes to this thing.
00:04:23.000 Now, again, we don't know the motive in this particular case yet.
00:04:27.000 It could very well be that this guy was driven by anti-Asian animus.
00:04:31.000 It could very well be that.
00:04:32.000 But that's not what the police are saying right now.
00:04:34.000 Joe Biden, still having a tiny portion of his brain left functional, said this yesterday.
00:04:40.000 He said, I'm going to wait to attribute motive.
00:04:42.000 Here was the president of the United States yesterday, which actually saying a responsible thing.
00:04:42.000 His party didn't say this.
00:04:45.000 Good for him.
00:04:47.000 The investigation is ongoing, and the question of motivation is still to be determined.
00:04:55.000 But whatever the motivation here, I know that Asian-Americans are in very Very concerned, but I'm making no connection at this moment to the motivation of the killer.
00:05:08.000 I'm waiting for an answer from, as the investigation proceeds, from the FBI.
00:05:14.000 So honestly, good for Biden.
00:05:17.000 Credit where credit is due.
00:05:18.000 President Biden saying that he's going to wait for more information is what a responsible politician would do, or what a responsible media would do.
00:05:23.000 Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of responsible politicians on the left, and we have apparently no one who is responsible in our establishment media.
00:05:29.000 This is an actual headline from CNN.
00:05:32.000 White supremacy and hate are haunting Asian Americans.
00:05:35.000 And then underneath is the analysis.
00:05:38.000 It's immaterial whether the accused killer in the Atlanta spa shootings admits to a racist motivation.
00:05:43.000 Asian Americans have been living in fear for months.
00:05:45.000 It's immaterial?
00:05:47.000 Really?
00:05:48.000 So the facts are immaterial is the way that you're putting this.
00:05:51.000 It's completely immaterial what actually happened in this particular case.
00:05:54.000 We have a narrative, and the narrative must be pushed, and the narrative is, of course, that the uptick in racial crimes against Asian Americans are being driven specifically by white supremacy, and they are being driven by whiteness more broadly.
00:06:05.000 Now understand, when the left says white supremacy, the left doesn't actually mean actual, honest-to-God white supremacists who are overtly racist and believe in the supremacy of the white race.
00:06:12.000 They don't mean that.
00:06:13.000 They mean Ibram X. Kendi-type Whiteness or Ibram X. Kendi type white supremacy in that you do not agree with the baseline reality that the left wishes to purport and therefore you are somehow broadly guilty of crimes in which you yourself did not engage.
00:06:26.000 That is why they don't need actual evidence that this particular shooter was actually a white supremacist to attribute his actions to white supremacy because you see white supremacy is broader than just being a white supremacist.
00:06:36.000 In order, normally, for a normal person to attribute a shooting crime to a white supremacist, the person has to be a white supremacist.
00:06:42.000 Like, for example, when there was a shooting at the West Valley JCC when I was a kid, it was done by an actual honest-to-God white supremacist, and you could actually name the guy, you could look at the groups he was a member of, the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting.
00:06:53.000 That was an actual white supremacist crime, and you could tell because the guy was an actual white supremacist.
00:06:57.000 Same thing at the Chabad of Poway shooting in the last couple of years.
00:06:57.000 Right?
00:07:00.000 Right?
00:07:00.000 You can tell when people are over white supremacists.
00:07:02.000 Usually they're pretty obvious and clear about it.
00:07:04.000 But the left wants to attribute this more broadly to the problem of whiteness.
00:07:08.000 Not just white supremacists, but white supremacy, which they say means the system as a whole, the system as a whole is responsible, and particularly white people are responsible for this.
00:07:18.000 So they broadened out the terminology here.
00:07:21.000 Now, let's just be clear on this.
00:07:23.000 We don't know the motive here.
00:07:24.000 And also, if we are going to examine the uptick in anti-Asian hate crime, we might actually at some point, you know, want to actually look at like the stats.
00:07:32.000 We might want to look at who is who is actually purveying crime against Asians in the United States.
00:07:38.000 So the most recent statistics that I have seen where we actually have stats broken down by the race of the offender, right?
00:07:47.000 Hate crime stats broken down by the race of the offender is from the Bureau of Justice Statistics circa 2018.
00:07:51.000 So unless this wildly changed in 2020, which seems somewhat unlikely to me, could happen, but I think it's somewhat unlikely.
00:07:58.000 Unless that wildly changed, this is a fairly good indicator of exactly who is committing crimes against Asian Americans in the United States, hate crimes against Asian Americans.
00:08:06.000 And when people say, well, we, data is not racist.
00:08:09.000 Data is just data.
00:08:10.000 So if you don't like the data, that would be your problem.
00:08:12.000 Okay.
00:08:12.000 So the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2018, we're now looking in the line that says victim race, ethnicity, Asian, right?
00:08:19.000 You're a victim of an anti-Asian hate crime.
00:08:22.000 So according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, there were 182,230 violent incidents against Asian Americans on the basis of race.
00:08:31.000 Right?
00:08:32.000 By victim and offender race or ethnicity.
00:08:34.000 Percent of violence incidents by victim and offender race or ethnicity.
00:08:38.000 The offenders race or ethnicity against Asians.
00:08:41.000 The offenders race or ethnicity.
00:08:43.000 24.1% of the people who victimized Asians were Asian.
00:08:49.000 7% of people who victimized Asians were Hispanic.
00:08:53.000 24.1% of people who victimized Asians were white.
00:08:56.000 27.5% of people who victimized Asians were black.
00:08:59.000 This is according to the percent of violent incidents by victim and offender status.
00:09:03.000 Right, that is the latest stat that is available to me showing who's perpetrating violence against Asians in the United States.
00:09:10.000 And actually, those stats are kind of stunning because virtually every other racial group, the vast majority of people who commit crimes against a racial group are members of the own racial group, right?
00:09:19.000 If you're looking at people who are victims, if you're looking at offenders against white Americans, 62.1% of all white Americans who are victimized by violent incidents are victimized by other white people in the black community.
00:09:31.000 Something like 70.3% same table 70.3% of all crimes violent crimes committed against black Americans are committed by black people among Hispanic Americans 45.4% of all crimes committed against Hispanic people are committed by Hispanic people but among Asians but among Asians Asian Americans are only, they rank like third in terms of the racial groups that victimize Asians, which is really weird.
00:09:56.000 And number one is Black Americans victimizing Asian Americans, according to the 2018 Bureau of Justice Statistics.
00:10:02.000 So normally what you'd want to do when you look at a rise in anti-Asian hate crime is look at the source of the anti-Asian hate crime.
00:10:08.000 But the problem is our media don't actually want to do that.
00:10:10.000 Because if our media do that, what they might discover is that the source of a lot of the anti-Asian hate crimes are actually coming from another minority group, namely the Black community.
00:10:18.000 The same thing has happened with anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States.
00:10:21.000 A huge number of anti-Semitic hate crimes in the United States are not attributable to white supremacists.
00:10:25.000 A huge percentage of anti-Jewish hate crimes in the United States are attributable to black Americans.
00:10:30.000 And, frankly, are very often not charged as such because it's uncomfortable for prosecutors to point out that black Americans are capable of committing hate crimes.
00:10:39.000 We've seen these hate crimes occur, right?
00:10:42.000 We've seen a lot of these hate crimes actually occur on tape.
00:10:44.000 For example, in San Jose, there was a pretty terrible incident that was caught on tape just a couple of weeks ago, in which a black perpetrator just started beating the hell, essentially, out of an Asian person.
00:10:57.000 There was an anti-Asian hate crime in Seattle not all that long ago, in which you really had to dig to get to the point where you actually found the race of the perpetrator.
00:11:06.000 But it turns out that the race of the perpetrator happened to be a black person.
00:11:11.000 The media will not mention the race of the perpetrator in these cases if the perpetrator happens to be black.
00:11:15.000 Now, here's my rule.
00:11:16.000 If you are perpetrating a hate crime, I do not care about your race.
00:11:20.000 You are doing something evil.
00:11:23.000 The media do deeply care about the race, because if they suggest that maybe anti-Asian hate crime should always be treated the same, well, what this would mean is that we would have to look at racism outside of white Americans.
00:11:33.000 And what they want to do is say that whiteness writ large is really the problem here.
00:11:36.000 They want to say whiteness writ large is really the problem.
00:11:38.000 Now, here's the thing.
00:11:39.000 Anti-Asian hate crimes in the United States apparently, year on year, rose about 150% in major U.S.
00:11:45.000 cities.
00:11:45.000 This is according to CBS News.
00:11:48.000 A new study based on police department statistics across major United States cities found a nearly 150% surge in anti-Asian hate crimes in 2020, while overall hate crimes fell by 7%.
00:11:57.000 The numbers reflect a growing trend of discrimination against Asian Americans during the coronavirus pandemic.
00:12:03.000 Now, again, there are some confounds here.
00:12:05.000 It's difficult to tell whether this is because Americans are angry at Asian people.
00:12:10.000 On the basis of COVID or whether it just turns out that a lot of people are home and a lot of people don't have jobs and this results in an increase in violence in particular areas of particular cities.
00:12:21.000 It's difficult to attribute COVID motivation to all of this and I'm not really aware that there's been a study that's been done linking it.
00:12:28.000 I'm just not aware there's a study that's explicitly linked this stuff.
00:12:28.000 It's possible.
00:12:31.000 The report released this week by the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at CSU San Bernardino examined hate crimes in 16 of America's larger cities and found the first spikes rose alongside COVID-19 cases in March and April.
00:12:41.000 New York City saw the highest jump, rising from 3 to 28.
00:12:44.000 Boston and L.A.
00:12:45.000 followed with increases from 6 to 14 and 7 to 15, respectively.
00:12:50.000 Hate incidents defined by the DOJ as acts of prejudice that aren't crimes are also on the rise.
00:12:56.000 And some of these people are suggesting that this is because of anti-Asian sentiment in the aftermath of COVID.
00:13:04.000 But some of it is not about that, presumably.
00:13:07.000 Some of this may just be about people who don't have jobs, who are now home doing bad things to other people.
00:13:12.000 But again, the way that the media have decided to treat this is that American whiteness, American white supremacy is responsible for this increase in anti-Asian American sentiment.
00:13:23.000 And they're going to use this latest shooting in Atlanta in order to push forward that narrative.
00:13:27.000 The shooting is an act of evil no matter what.
00:13:29.000 The guy who committed the shooting is a piece of crap who should be executed.
00:13:32.000 The person who killed people should go to death row, should be executed.
00:13:37.000 And if the person is a white supremacist, that is a good indicator that white supremacy, like actual, honest-to-God white supremacy, is evil.
00:13:43.000 But that's not the case that the media would like to make.
00:13:46.000 The media would like to make the case that America, more broadly, is responsible for all of this anti-Asian hate, only matters under certain circumstances for the media.
00:13:54.000 Not two weeks ago, Yahoo News ran a piece titled, Anti-Asian Violence Has Been Rampant.
00:13:59.000 Here's why it's not always a hate crime.

00:15:09.000 Policy Genius.
00:15:10.000 When it comes to insurance, it's nice and quite important to get it right.
00:15:12.000 Okay, so Yahoo News talks about anti-Asian violence and they say it's not always a hate crime.
00:15:17.000 Why is it not always a hate crime?
00:15:19.000 Because it depends on who does it.
00:15:21.000 According to Yahoo News, as the recent wave of attacks on older Asian Americans prompts calls for action and activism, experts urge the use of precise, accurate language in discussing the violence.
00:15:29.000 Weird how all of the urges to use precise and accurate language in describing the violence have gone completely out the window the moment you have a story where the media are seeking to suggest that whiteness more broadly is responsible for anti-Asian violence.
00:15:41.000 The robberies and assaults in several big city Chinatowns have led to significant media coverage and outcry from activists, many of whom have labeled the incidents hate crimes.
00:15:48.000 But recent higher profile cases that have gone viral on social media aren't being investigated as such, law enforcement officials say.
00:15:53.000 Officials say the occurrences don't show signs of being racially motivated.
00:15:57.000 Well, you know what's an incident that doesn't show signs yet of being racially motivated is this latest one in Atlanta.
00:16:02.000 That's not stopping the media.
00:16:03.000 Social media posts have conflated violence against people who are Asian American with hate crimes against the community at large, tying the crimes to pandemic-related racism.
00:16:11.000 Some sources have declared a spike in hate crimes, citing an astronomical increase, but the figure they refer to specifically reflects New York City and New York police data obtained by NBC Asian America, which showed three anti-Asian hate crimes in 2019 and 28 last year.
00:16:23.000 No hate crimes were reported this year so far.
00:16:25.000 Other sources refer to 18 incidents this year involving Asian Americans in Alameda County, California, but local law enforcement said there's no proof any of them have been racially motivated.
00:16:33.000 In San Francisco, six hate crimes were reported in 2019, nine the following year.
00:16:37.000 In 2021, the city reported one hate crime.
00:16:39.000 Not all cities reflected increases.
00:16:41.000 Washington D.C.
00:16:42.000 reported a decrease.
00:16:45.000 Okay, but where exactly, why exactly is the media now getting sensitive about anti-Asian hate crime reporting?
00:16:52.000 Because there was a spate of videos that came out that showed, unfortunately, black Americans victimizing Asian Americans.
00:17:00.000 And so as soon as those videos hit the internet, you started to see articles crop up about how this isn't really anti-Asian animus, it's just sort of normal crime.
00:17:10.000 If a hate crime is a hate crime, then a hate crime is a hate crime.
00:17:13.000 Racism can come from any end of the spectrum, but you have to understand that according to leftist worldview, it cannot come from any end of the spectrum.
00:17:19.000 See, racism is only capable of being attributed to white people.
00:17:23.000 Because it has to be white people.
00:17:25.000 Because white people have power.
00:17:26.000 And racism without power is not racism.
00:17:28.000 This is something we have learned from the racist left.
00:17:32.000 The reason that this matters to the left is because the left only treats Asian Americans as a victimized minority sometimes.
00:17:39.000 In the same way they only treat Jews as a victimized minority.
00:17:41.000 Sometimes.
00:17:42.000 When a Jew in Williamsburg has the hell beat out of him by a black guy on the street, that is not considered a hate crime by folks on the left.
00:17:49.000 When a Jew gets shot at the Free of Life Synagogue by a white supremacist, this is a hate crime, according to the left.
00:17:53.000 Now, in my view, both are hate crimes.
00:17:56.000 Hey, first of all, I have some rather serious legal objections to the terminology of hate crime in and of themselves, because all crimes in essence are motivated by hate and disregard for the humanity of the other person you're committing a crime against.
00:18:06.000 But so long as we are having a category called hate crime, the guy walking down the street in a yarmulke who has the crap beat out of him by a guy walking down the street who happens to be black, that's just as much of a hate crime as somebody doing that if they were white supremacists, but not according to our wonderful, wonderful media.
00:18:23.000 And this is why you see folks like Ibram Kendi tweeting out about these hate crimes.
00:18:30.000 He tweeted out, Locking arms with Asian Americans facing this lethal struggle and facing this lethal wave of anti-Asian terror.
00:18:36.000 Their struggle is my struggle.
00:18:37.000 Our struggle is against racism and white supremacist domestic terror.
00:18:41.000 Oh, is that what's happening here?
00:18:43.000 So you guys are struggling against exactly the same thing.
00:18:47.000 Interesting.
00:18:47.000 Interesting take.
00:18:49.000 Ibram X. Kendi.
00:18:51.000 I particularly liked the take from Liz Plank.
00:18:54.000 Feminist tabulous.
00:18:54.000 She tweeted, White masculinity fetishizes and dehumanizes Asian women and is intrinsically tied to racism.
00:19:01.000 It's crucial we don't erase the way that misogyny and racism operate together to justify killing Asian women.
00:19:06.000 So you see, even if there's no proof in this particular case that this evil piece of crap who committed the shooting actually was anti-Asian, we can still say that it's anti-Asian white supremacy without any evidence at all.
00:19:18.000 Now here's the thing.
00:19:19.000 They're wildly inconsistent on the left as to exactly when Asians ought to be treated as a victimized minority and when they ought not to be treated as a victimized minority.
00:19:29.000 Let's take, for example, the wonderful and brilliant Nicole Hannah-Jones, the de facto editor-in-chief of the New York Times.
00:19:34.000 So Nikole Hannah-Jones, who is the creator of the Garbage 1619 Project, the fictionalized history of the United States, on August 13th of last year, she tweeted out, Most Asian Americans arrived in this country after the end of legal segregation and discrimination, thanks to the Black resistance struggle.
00:19:48.000 Yale has direct ties to slavery.
00:19:50.000 Further, the DOJ is not going after the segregated and unequal schools that black children attend.
00:19:54.000 This was her objecting to the fact that Trump's DOJ had gone after Yale for openly discriminating against Asian Americans.
00:20:01.000 See, the left is fine with anti-Asian hate so long as it's directed at prospective college students.
00:20:06.000 They are fine with anti-Asian hate so long as it's directed at high-achieving kids in merit-based public high schools.
00:20:13.000 Nicole Hannah-Jones said, I did not say no Asian people immigrated here prior to 65.
00:20:16.000 I said most in this country did not because of the Chinese Exclusion Act and a racist immigration quota system.
00:20:21.000 That means most present day Asian-Americans did not experience legal discrimination here.
00:20:26.000 So in other words, Asian-Americans are not a victimized minority in Nicole Hannah-Jones' view.
00:20:30.000 But as soon as there is a shooting, And they can tie this to, in some way, without any evidence, white supremacy.
00:20:37.000 Then, Nicole Hannah-Jones tweets out, So now, they're a victimized minority.
00:20:39.000 was recruiting Chinese men to come to the labor white workers would not.
00:20:42.000 They barred Chinese women from entering the U.S. in order to ensure the men would not settle and start families in America. So now they're a victimized minority. So here's the thing.
00:20:49.000 Asian Americans were historically a victimized minority.
00:20:52.000 They've also taken advantage of the fact that America is a wonderful meritocracy to become the most successful subgroup in American life, economically speaking.
00:20:59.000 These two things are not mutually exclusive.
00:21:00.000 Asian-Americans did not stop being the victims of hate simply because they are economically successful any more than Jews stopped being the victims of hate because they were economically successful.
00:21:08.000 But according to the left, these two things are mutually exclusive.
00:21:11.000 So essentially, A light wave.
00:21:16.000 Asian Americans and Jewish Americans are like the light waves of physics.
00:21:20.000 Are they a wave or are they a particle?
00:21:22.000 It completely depends on the lens with which you view them.
00:21:25.000 If a white person victimizes a Jew, or victimizes an Asian American, then they are a victimized minority.
00:21:30.000 If those people are being victimized by either a racist admissions system, or by black Americans, or by any other minority Americans, then those people are part of the overgroup.
00:21:42.000 Then they are part of the white American superstructure.
00:21:46.000 The inconsistency is mind-blowing, but it is perfectly predictable.
00:21:53.000 And again, this is part of a broader agenda, and part of the broader agenda is to suggest that the system itself is responsible for anti-Asian hate crimes.
00:22:00.000 When something bad happens to an Asian, that's because of America.
00:22:03.000 When something bad happens to a Jew, that's because of America.
00:22:06.000 Unless the person who happens to be victimizing an Asian or a Jew is not.
00:22:10.000 A white person.
00:22:11.000 In which case, it's just sort of a random thing that happened.
00:22:14.000 And we don't really pay too much attention to that.
00:22:15.000 Because it doesn't support the narrative.
00:22:17.000 Again, none of this, not a single word I've said here sits down and plays the specific evil that was done in Atlanta and we still don't know the motive.
00:22:23.000 And if it turns out the guy was a white supremacist, then we should blame white supremacy.
00:22:26.000 But otherwise, it's going to be kind of hard to prove that white supremacy was responsible for the crime when you don't have evidence of that.
00:22:31.000 While Joe Biden is saying that he is going to hold off on attributing motive in this particular shooting, Jen Psaki is not.
00:22:38.000 Jen Psaki is simply saying that, without evidence, Trump saying Chinese virus is what spurred this wave of hate crimes.
00:22:43.000 Again, I've yet to be made aware of exactly the motivations of people who have, or even the race of the people who have been committing these hate crimes against Asian Americans over the course of the last year, but that's not stopping Jen Psaki.
00:22:53.000 Evidence is of no consequence here.
00:22:55.000 I think there's no question that some of the damaging rhetoric that we saw during the prior administration blaming, you know, calling COVID, you know, the Wuhan virus or other things led to, you know, perceptions of the Asian American community that are inaccurate, unfair.
00:23:18.000 Kamala Harris is saying the same thing.
00:23:28.000 She's saying, we stand with you in the face of anti-Asian hate crimes.
00:23:31.000 They don't stand with Asian-Americans when it comes to whether your kids can go to school.
00:23:34.000 But they're definitely standing with you now, now that they can suggest that it's America, writ broadly, that is racist against Asian-Americans, just not we who specifically are discriminating against Asian-Americans.
00:23:41.000 Here is Kamala Harris, the vice president.
00:23:44.000 I do want to say to our Asian American community that we stand with you and understand how this has frightened and shocked and outraged all people.
00:23:53.000 But knowing the increasing level of hate crime against our Asian American brothers and sisters, we also want to speak out in solidarity with them and acknowledge that none of us should ever be silent in the face of any form of hate.
00:24:09.000 You should definitely not be silent in the form of discrimination against any form of discrimination against Asian Americans.
00:24:14.000 Like say, for example, the colleges were overtly discriminating against Asian Americans and not allowing them in because they were performing too well on standardized tests.
00:24:21.000 Then you definitely want to stand up and say something about it, wouldn't you?
00:24:24.000 Quote, Biden DOJ drops lawsuit claiming Yale discriminates against white nation students this February 2021. The Department of Justice on Wednesday dropped a Trump-era lawsuit alleging Yale University discriminated against white and Asian applicants, backing away from former President Trump's fight against college affirmative action policies.
00:24:39.000 This is according to Forbes.
00:24:41.000 The DOJ filed a request to dismiss in federal court in Connecticut, effectively ending a four-month-old legal gambit claiming Yale's admissions officers disadvantaged white and Asian students by placing too much weight on applicants' race.
00:24:52.000 A DOJ spokesperson told Forbes, its decision was made in light of all available facts, circumstances, and legal development.
00:24:59.000 Federal officials will continue a three-year-old investigation into Yale's admissions practices.
00:25:03.000 They are no longer alleging the school broke civil rights laws at all.
00:25:06.000 So, totally fine for Yale to discriminate against Asian students.
00:25:10.000 Meanwhile, same week, back in February, the San Francisco School Board voted to end merit-based admissions at Lowell High.
00:25:16.000 They moved the school into a lottery system.
00:25:17.000 Why did they do that?
00:25:18.000 Because too many Asian Americans, based on merit, were getting into Lowell High.
00:25:23.000 According to KGO, on Tuesday night, San Francisco's Board of Education voted to end the merit-based admission at Lowell atop Academic High School.
00:25:29.000 The issue has been an emotional lightning rod within the district, Lowell's alumni, community, residents of San Francisco, the Bay Area, and beyond.
00:25:35.000 The vote followed hours of public comment and discussion via Zoom.
00:25:38.000 The vote was 5-2 in favor of changing Lowell's admission policy.
00:25:41.000 In October, because of the pandemic, the San Francisco School Board proposed eliminating selective merit-based admission at Lowell for one school year.
00:25:47.000 When racist incidents resurfaced at the high school last month, the board quickly proposed a resolution to make the change permanent.
00:25:54.000 According to California School Dashboard, 50% of the students at Lowell, again, this is merit-based, are Asian.
00:25:59.000 18% are white, 12% Latino, 2% African American.
00:26:04.000 So what did they decide to do?
00:26:06.000 They decided, too many Asians here, gotta stop it.
00:26:08.000 And so they moved out.
00:26:09.000 They moved against it.
00:26:10.000 Meanwhile, in New York City, Mayor Bill de Blasio has been moving for years to stop Asians from getting into New York City's elite high schools.
00:26:17.000 In fact, his plan was to basically shut down high schools rather than allow there to be elite high schools at which Asian Americans were overrepresented.
00:26:25.000 So active discrimination, active discrimination against Asian Americans is a core part of the democratic platform.
00:26:32.000 That seems like anti-Asian hate to me, frankly.
00:26:34.000 If you're saying that a person can't get into school because they are performing too well, because they don't have the right race, that is anti-Asian discrimination.
00:26:41.000 That is anti-Asian hate.
00:26:42.000 That's a lot more hateful, frankly, than suggesting that a virus that came from China is in fact a Chinese virus.
00:26:49.000 Okay, but according to the left, racism against Asian Americans is fine so long as it comports with their agenda, and it is not fine when they are allowed to use it as a brick bat with which to club the United States more broadly, which is how you end up with pieces like this one from The Root.
00:27:05.000 Okay, there's a guy named Damon Young.
00:27:07.000 It's an insane piece.
00:27:09.000 He wrote this piece yesterday.
00:27:11.000 Whiteness is a pandemic.
00:27:13.000 Quote, I don't have much to add here today that hasn't already been said.
00:27:16.000 Whiteness is a public health crisis.
00:27:18.000 Whiteness.
00:27:19.000 Remember, this is not about...
00:27:21.000 White supremacy, like in its classic definition anymore, this is not about white people believing they are superior to other races.
00:27:26.000 Whiteness itself is a pandemic.
00:27:28.000 It shortens life expectancies, it pollutes air, it constricts equilibrium, it devastates forests, it melts ice caps, it sparks and funds wars, it flattens dialects, it infests consciousnesses, and it kills people.
00:27:38.000 White people and people who are not white, my mom included.
00:27:40.000 There will be people who die in 2050 because of white supremacy-induced decisions from 1850.
00:27:45.000 The whole system has to be torn down.
00:27:47.000 And it doesn't matter whether you can actually identify the white supremacy in any particular incident.
00:27:51.000 Everything bad that happens on planet Earth is due to whiteness.
00:27:54.000 All of it is due to whiteness.
00:27:56.000 Because whiteness is buried in the superstructure.
00:27:59.000 Whiteness is at the root of the tree that is the civilization.
00:28:02.000 And so every bad fruit of that tree is because the root itself is rotten.
00:28:08.000 A line can and should be drawn from the actions of the white supremacist who walked into three Atlanta-area massage parlors yesterday and allegedly killed eight people, six of whom were of Asian descent, to the relentless anti-Asian rhetoric pollinating national discourse over the past year.
00:28:21.000 Based on what?
00:28:23.000 Damon Young, are you going to provide any evidence of this?
00:28:26.000 The former president and the party of the former president can and should be blamed for this and the sudden increase of racist violence against Asian Americans.
00:28:32.000 The line doesn't stop there.
00:28:33.000 It extends back 400 years and has tentacles clawing everywhere white supremacy exists here in America, which is everywhere.
00:28:41.000 There's a line connecting this act of terror to the 11 people killed at the Tree of Life Synagogue in 2018, the nine people killed at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2015, of course.
00:28:50.000 Well, first of all, you'd have to show the evidence of that.
00:28:51.000 Those were actual, overtly white supremacist acts of terrorism.
00:28:55.000 We don't know the answer on this one.
00:28:56.000 It may be, but we don't know that yet.
00:28:59.000 In fact, there was a tweet yesterday.
00:29:01.000 That was that was particularly illuminating.
00:29:03.000 I believe it was from Ibram Kendi.
00:29:05.000 And his suggestion was that it does not matter.
00:29:08.000 I'm sorry, it was not Ibram Kendi.
00:29:10.000 It was Michael Harriet, who also writes for The Root.
00:29:13.000 He tweeted, quote, There will never be any data that says racial violence is because of white supremacy, because most white supremacists don't think they are white supremacists.
00:29:22.000 So, in other words, we don't actually have to prove white supremacy at any point.
00:29:25.000 We don't even have to listen to the motivations of people who are committing these acts.
00:29:29.000 All we have to do is just attribute white supremacy to them because they don't know their own minds.
00:29:32.000 That is complete, unfalsifiable nonsense.
00:29:35.000 Just absolutely unfalsifiable nonsense.
00:29:37.000 But that, of course, is the point.
00:29:39.000 So back to this piece from this writer Damon Young at The Root.
00:29:44.000 I just have to read you the end of this piece.
00:29:46.000 White supremacy is a virus that, like other viruses, will not die until there are no bodies left for it to infect.
00:29:52.000 Which means the only way to stop it is to locate it, isolate it, extract it, and kill it.
00:29:56.000 I guess a vaccine could work too, but we've had 400 years to develop one, so I won't hold my breath.
00:30:00.000 I don't even know what the hell that is supposed to mean.
00:30:02.000 This is a contributing opinion writer for the New York Times.
00:30:05.000 I do not understand what that is supposed to mean.
00:30:07.000 There are no more bodies left for- I mean, are you talking about killing white people?
00:30:10.000 Like, what exa- I honestly, God, don't know what that means.
00:30:12.000 Maybe it doesn't mean that, but I've read to you verbatim that paragraph.
00:30:15.000 I don't know what it means.
00:30:16.000 Here is what I do know.
00:30:17.000 What I do know is that the left does not give two damns about anti-Asian discrimination in education.
00:30:22.000 They don't care about anti-Asian discrimination in the workplace.
00:30:25.000 They don't care about anti-discrimination in virtually every area of life where Asians are considered part of the broad white majority because they are quote-unquote too successful.
00:30:33.000 They don't care about Asians who are beat up by particular members of particular races.
00:30:37.000 They only care about anti-Asian hate when it becomes a convenient point for them to try and plant the notion that America is a white supremacist country.
00:30:47.000 By the way, if America is such a terribly white supremacist country, one indicator it is not a particularly white supremacist country overall would be that the single greatest economically performing subgroup in America are Asian Americans.
00:31:00.000 So, none of this makes any sense, but again, it doesn't have to make sense.
00:31:04.000 Any club that can be wielded against the foundational ideas of America, the meritocracy, the freedoms of America, any idea that can be wielded against that, any incident without evidence that can be wielded against that, that can be attributed to quote-unquote whiteness, and whiteness means all the institutions, According to the left.
00:31:21.000 Not according to me.
00:31:22.000 I'm not a racist.
00:31:23.000 So I don't think that our institutions are quote-unquote white.
00:31:26.000 I don't think that freedom is a white idea.
00:31:28.000 I don't think that it's a... I think freedom is a civilized idea.
00:31:31.000 I don't think individual rights are a white idea.
00:31:34.000 Only the left thinks that crap.
00:31:36.000 But what the left is trying to do, as always, is have it both ways.
00:31:40.000 They always want it both ways.
00:31:41.000 There's only one... There's one set of rules that applies to people who are higher ranking on the intersectional hierarchy.
00:31:48.000 Who get apparently to victimize Asian Americans whenever they want.
00:31:51.000 And then there is a second set of rules that applies to a society that is not even responsible for this particular act or for an independent white supremacist movement, an actual white supremacist movement that commits acts of evil at every available turn.
00:32:02.000 Again, it's the same way they treat antisemitism.
00:32:05.000 The way they treat antisemitism is it only exists if you can try to plant it on the right.
00:32:10.000 Meanwhile, we will back every antisemite we can find in Congress so long as they have a D next to their name.
00:32:16.000 That's the way this works.
00:32:16.000 It's cynical, and it's gross, and it does not fight hate, and it does not mitigate against hate.
00:32:21.000 If we're not fighting all hate the same way, then you're not actually fighting hate, are you?
00:32:26.000 In just a second, we'll get to how this is now infusing.
00:32:29.000 Our government, how it has infused our culture, this basic theory that America is a racist country and all sins can be attributed to that racist country, but we must never attribute sinfulness or racism to individuals who are of victimized heritage in the United States.
00:32:45.000 We'll get to that in just one moment first.
00:32:47.000 Fellas, the sport of business means demanding excellence from your craft and wardrobe.

00:34:00.000 Okay, we're gonna get into more of this.
00:34:02.000 How critical race theory, which is really what we're talking about here.
00:34:05.000 That racism only counts sometimes.
00:34:07.000 And it depends on who is doing the racism.
00:34:09.000 And the evidence required for racism.
00:34:11.000 The standard of evidence changes radically depending on who you can blame for the alleged racism.
00:34:15.000 We'll get to that in just one moment.

00:35:19.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:35:22.000 This theory of the United States, that the United States is deeply racist.
00:35:31.000 Therefore, if a white person in the United States does an indubitably bad thing, it must be attributable to racism without any evidence.
00:35:37.000 You're not supposed to show the evidence.
00:35:39.000 It can just be attributed to the system more broadly, not even to specific white supremacist beliefs.
00:35:43.000 But to the system more broadly, but that if an Asian is beat up by a black person on the streets of New York, that that does not count as a hate crime because racism only counts sometimes or it's not racism.
00:35:52.000 Or even if that does happen, that in and of itself is attributable to the system in which people live, and therefore it's still whiteness to blame.
00:35:59.000 This sort of mentality has now infused all areas of our government.
00:36:02.000 When Joe Biden talks about equity in American government, this is what he is talking about.
00:36:05.000 This is why today Emily Zanotti reporting at the Daily Wire.
00:36:09.000 The State Department is quote-unquote racing to address 232 year old problem of quote-unquote entrenched whiteness.
00:36:15.000 Do you notice how the terminology has changed here?
00:36:17.000 Right?
00:36:18.000 We went from like Virtually all terms in American politics, we now have laundering of language, right?
00:36:24.000 So it starts off as white supremacy.
00:36:26.000 White supremacy is rooted in white supremacism, right?
00:36:29.000 It's rooted in the idea that white people are inherently superior to other races.
00:36:34.000 Then people decided that that wasn't enough because that didn't apply to a broad enough class of people.
00:36:39.000 You couldn't indict the entire system with that because the vast majority of Americans don't believe that crap.
00:36:42.000 So instead they said white supremacy just means the system.
00:36:45.000 Then people are like, yeah, but that doesn't sound like white supremacy.
00:36:47.000 That just sounds like the system.
00:36:48.000 So they said whiteness.
00:36:49.000 So now whiteness is the problem, which sounds super racist, right?
00:36:53.000 Whiteness is the problem.
00:36:54.000 Imagine if someone said blackness is the problem and you understand just how racist that is off the tip of your tongue, right?
00:36:59.000 But according to our entire government now, whiteness is the problem.
00:37:03.000 So according to the Daily Wire, the Department of Defense is not the only cabinet level agency undergoing a woke makeover, according to Politico.
00:37:10.000 The State Department is also wrestling with its identity and quote-unquote racing to address a 232-year history of quote-unquote entrenched whiteness.
00:37:18.000 According to Politico, Antony Blinken's State Department is racing to address a 232-year-old problem, the overwhelming and entrenched whiteness of the nation's oldest government agency.
00:37:27.000 The department's 23,000 or so American staff may be the global face of America, but they don't look like it, and the gap is growing, not shrinking by many metrics.
00:37:34.000 Though 40% of the American population is from a racial or ethnic minority, only 13% of the department's senior executive service are people of color, said Ambassador Gina Abercrombie Winstanley, a career diplomat.
00:37:44.000 It was more diverse in 1986, literally, than it is now, says Eric Rubin, president of the American Foreign Service Association, which represents the department's diplomats.
00:37:53.000 According to Politico, President Joe Biden has pledged to run the most diverse government ever that involves rethinking and reformatting some of the most significant governmental institutions.
00:38:01.000 Lincoln has submitted a report on the State Department's diversity and inclusion program.
00:38:04.000 Now, can they name a procedure inside the State Department that is overtly discriminating against non-white people?
00:38:09.000 I have significant doubts they can, because that violates the Civil Rights Act of 1965.
00:38:13.000 So instead, they're simply saying that it is discriminatory on the basis that there are not enough members of particular races in particular positions, which inherently means, because this is a zero-sum game, there's only one person who can get each job, what that means is that there are going to be people who are left out of the job on the basis not of merit, but on the basis of race, which is in fact racial discrimination.
00:38:34.000 This is the same logic that is used by the left when it comes to college admissions.
00:38:37.000 It's the reason they're shutting down high schools, because there are quote-unquote too many Asians.
00:38:41.000 Although the report was focused on the agency's issues, it also proposed solutions, including hiring a Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
00:38:46.000 Yes, this always solves the problem.
00:38:48.000 To quote-unquote, advance and align DNI policies across the department, bring transparency to these initiatives, and hold senior leadership accountable on progress.
00:38:56.000 The State Department is committed to educating its workforce on anti-racism.
00:38:59.000 Remember, anti-racism is the garbage Robin DiAngelo, Ibram Kendi philosophy that suggests that any institution that results in non-equal outcomes by racial group is inherently racist and must be torn to the ground.
00:39:11.000 It is not about whether equal opportunity has been provided.
00:39:14.000 It is not about a meritocracy.
00:39:15.000 Meritocracy is itself racist according to these same folks.
00:39:19.000 The State Department gave an announcement.
00:39:21.000 They scheduled an instructional Zoom, stressing the idea that racism is a threat to national security.
00:39:25.000 The event, titled Racism Being a Threat to National Security and Democracy, featured a range of progressive speakers, including former Democratic Representative Tom Perriello, who currently serves as Executive Director for George Soros' Open Society Foundation and Center for Constitutional Rights Attorney Diala Shammas and Western State Center Executive Director Eric Ward.
00:39:43.000 Secretary Blinken has made it 100% clear he is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
00:39:48.000 And again, these are code words for we get to be as racist as we want to be so long as what we are attempting to do is do this work on behalf of only particular minority groups in the United States.
00:39:58.000 I promise you that if there is an outside surge of Asian Americans in the State Department, that is not going to be counted by the Biden administration as sufficiently diverse.
00:40:06.000 This has infused our government.
00:40:07.000 This ideology has infused our corporations.
00:40:09.000 Deloitte and Touche has now told employees that microaggressions are a punishable offense.
00:40:14.000 According to Daily Wire, during a mandatory anti-racism training, U.S.
00:40:17.000 employees at Deloitte were introduced to the company's new quote-unquote anti-racist culture.
00:40:21.000 Employees were told they are expected to help cultivate the quote-unquote anti-racist culture when working with personnel and clients and to promote equity.
00:40:29.000 How is equity defined?
00:40:30.000 Quote, the outcome of diversity, inclusion, and anti-oppression, wherein all people have fair access, opportunity, resources, and power.
00:40:37.000 So why is equity different from equality?
00:40:39.000 Because equality doesn't take into account the historical and systemic barriers and privileges of certain racial groups.
00:40:44.000 Which is, of course, the point, right?
00:40:46.000 The idea here is that if you provide equal opportunity, that doesn't take into account historic discrimination.
00:40:50.000 Because of historic discrimination, we have to discriminate in the here and now.
00:40:53.000 Ibram McKendee has said this, right?
00:40:55.000 He says, discrimination in the past can only be remedied by discrimination today.
00:40:58.000 And discrimination today can only be remedied by discrimination tomorrow.
00:41:02.000 Discrimination forever, you might say.
00:41:05.000 Employees at Deloitte were told that violation of Deloitte's policies could extend to microaggressions.
00:41:10.000 And all U.S.
00:41:11.000 offices are to investigate violations of anti-racist policies.
00:41:14.000 You don't have to be a racist.
00:41:15.000 If you're just not anti-racist, meaning you don't believe that all of America's systems are racist, that meritocracy you believe is not racist, or individual rights are not racist, this means you may have violated corporate policy over at Deloitte.
00:41:28.000 This ideology has infused all of American government.
00:41:30.000 It's infused corporate America.
00:41:31.000 It is poisonous.
00:41:33.000 It is disgusting.
00:41:34.000 Okay, this ideology, the supposed anti-racist ideology, which in fact divides us by race and then talks about racial essentialism and then suggests that we have to discriminate, we must discriminate on the basis of race, that causes more hatred.
00:41:48.000 It causes more division.
00:41:50.000 Meanwhile, these same racist leftists, and it is racism, these same racist leftists are turning around and attributing to all of American society racism when an incident occurs that may or may not have been a racist incident and that still has nothing to do with mainstream American society.
00:42:05.000 Pretty incredible how this works.
00:42:07.000 So it seems that the term racist, according to the left, is a completely fungible one.
00:42:10.000 Sometimes, it is completely inapplicable.
00:42:14.000 Just when they decide that it's not applicable.
00:42:15.000 And sometimes, it is not only applicable, it is a brick to hurl through whatever window is convenient to hurl the brick through today.
00:42:23.000 And well, I am going to give a shout out here to the best governor in America, my home state governor, Ron DeSantis in Florida.
00:42:30.000 Ron DeSantis announced yesterday that Florida is not going to allow this kind of crappy theory to be taught in public schools in the state of Florida.
00:42:36.000 Here was Governor DeSantis yesterday.
00:42:38.000 Florida civics curriculum will incorporate foundational concepts with the best materials.
00:42:44.000 And it will expressly exclude unsanctioned narratives like critical race theory and other unsubstantiated theories.
00:42:53.000 Let me be clear.
00:42:54.000 There's no room in our classrooms for things like critical race theory.
00:43:00.000 Teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other is not worth one red cent of taxpayer money.
00:43:09.000 Good for Governor Ron DeSantis, who absolutely is right on this.
00:43:12.000 What you're going to see as the country breaks down is that you're going to see these theories taught in California, but not in Florida.
00:43:16.000 It's just going to exacerbate the national polarization and divide.
00:43:20.000 Alrighty, we'll be back here later today with an additional hour of content.
00:43:23.000 In the meantime, be sure to check out The Matt Walsh Show, which airs at 1.30 p.m.
