00:01:33.000 Alrighty, so the latest is that Joe Biden has now resisted pleas from our allies to extend the withdrawal deadline of August 31st.
00:01:42.000 Now remember, it was Joe Biden who originally set that deadline of August 31st.
00:01:46.000 Joe Biden came in, he said, August 31st is the day that we are going to get out, and then we can celebrate the end of the Afghanistan war by September 11th.
00:01:53.000 And then the Taliban took him up on that, and they said, OK, well, if you mean August 31st, then August 31st it shall be.
00:01:59.000 And now the Taliban is refusing to move off of that date, despite the fact that they've taken over Kabul and are apparently obstructing efforts to get people out of Kabul.
00:02:06.000 So the European allies, the G7, They met with Joe Biden yesterday, and apparently they were telling him, we need you to give us more time, right?
00:02:15.000 We have people on the ground there.
00:02:16.000 We need American troops on the ground beyond August 31st so we can get our people out.
00:02:20.000 And Joe Biden said no.
00:02:22.000 He said that staying brings, quote, added risk to our troops with increasing threats from ISIS.
00:02:27.000 Well, you know what would have been really nice at this point?
00:02:29.000 If you think about it, what would have been awesome is if, let's say we had, you know, a skeleton crew of like 2,500 troops with Bagram Air Base under our control.
00:02:37.000 And let's say that we had an Afghan National Army capable of beating back the Taliban because they had close air support from the United States as well as civilian contractors on the ground holding the major cities in Afghanistan so that we could work on evacuating people if they wanted to get out.
00:02:52.000 And let's say that we had had that like, you know, three months ago.
00:02:56.000 Oh, yes, indeed, we did.
00:02:58.000 And then Joe Biden decided, you know, it'd be a great idea.
00:03:00.000 What if we just take out all the soldiers and leave everything else behind?
00:03:04.000 And then shockingly, we now have to put soldiers back in to get everybody else out.
00:03:07.000 And now we're going to do this a second time.
00:03:09.000 We're going to precipitously withdraw our military in the middle of an evacuation effort.
00:03:14.000 Now, Joe Biden says that the evacuation effort, the precipitous withdrawal of the military It makes no difference, says Joe Biden.
00:03:20.000 It's not a big deal because the people that we're getting out, they're really not helping with the evacuation yet.
00:03:25.000 It's not that big a deal.
00:03:26.000 Here is the problem.
00:03:27.000 It is a rather large deal.
00:03:29.000 We are already removing people from on the ground right now.
00:03:32.000 And no matter how many times Joe Biden says, well, you know, we can still remove people.
00:03:36.000 If we're out by August 31st, we have to start.
00:03:39.000 Removing American soldiers from the ground in Kabul today.
00:03:43.000 And we have.
00:03:44.000 We have started removing American soldiers from the ground in Kabul as people are attempting to get to the airport.
00:03:49.000 Now that's all fun and games, until it comes time for the mass evacuations to happen and we need more people on the ground.
00:03:57.000 All of this, really, all of this springs from a peculiar ideological feeling of Joe Biden when it comes to the American military.
00:04:04.000 Joe Biden believes that leaving Americans behind in Kabul is less important than getting American soldiers out of Kabul.
00:04:12.000 That is the basic calculation that is going on right now.
00:04:15.000 He believes that Americans will just forget about what's going on in Kabul.
00:04:19.000 That if Americans are left behind, which undoubtedly there will be, particularly outside of Kabul.
00:04:23.000 Because right now we're just talking about the Americans who are in Kabul.
00:04:25.000 There's still presumably hundreds or thousands of Americans who are outside of Kabul, still in Afghanistan, who may want to get out.
00:04:31.000 We have no way of getting them out now.
00:04:33.000 His belief is that if he can just brazen this out for a couple more weeks, if he can just brazen this out to the point where the vast majority of Americans are out of country, the media will turn from yelling at him to praising him for ending the war in Afghanistan.
00:04:47.000 Americans will forget about everything bad that is happening in Afghanistan, and it just won't be on the front pages anymore, and everything will go back to normal, except he'll get credit for ending the Afghanistan war.
00:04:55.000 That is Joe Biden's main calculation.
00:04:57.000 Americans won't care about the midterm or long-term strategic consequences of pulling out of Afghanistan.
00:05:01.000 Already, that's been pushed into the background.
00:05:03.000 The acute crisis on the ground in Kabul has made people already forget and really not care very much about the fact that China is sweeping in, that Russia is very eager for the United States to leave Afghanistan, that Iran is very eager about all of this, that the United States just lost its air bases not just in Afghanistan but also in Pakistan.
00:05:22.000 The American people are not even thinking about that stuff right now.
00:05:25.000 They're just thinking about the acute crisis.
00:05:26.000 So Biden's belief is, if we can just get past this acute crisis, if we mostly solve the acute crisis, most people will leave us alone.
00:05:33.000 And my approval ratings will start to go back up again.
00:05:35.000 He's now down to 41% in the approval ratings.
00:05:38.000 What he can't have, however, in his own political calculation, is attacks on American troops by ISIS.
00:05:45.000 Which is, again, a very bizarre calculation because American soldiers are there to repel attacks from terrorists to protect American citizens.
00:05:52.000 Joe Biden's logic, however, is if we have to leave American citizens there to prevent attacks from ISIS on American troops, we will do that.
00:05:59.000 That is the precise reverse of what the American military exists to do.
00:06:02.000 The American military exists to break things and kill people in defense of Americans.
00:06:06.000 Joe Biden's belief is that Americans should continue to be in danger.
00:06:10.000 American civilians should continue to be in danger so that we can protect American troops.
00:06:14.000 That's not the way any of this works.
00:06:15.000 Civilians are not there to protect the military.
00:06:17.000 The military is there to protect civilians.
00:06:19.000 And if you ask anyone serving in the military, they agree with this.
00:06:22.000 This is not an anti-military point.
00:06:24.000 This is a definitional point.
00:06:26.000 If you ask anyone in the military, what is your job?
00:06:28.000 They would say, my job is to protect Americans.
00:06:31.000 Joe Biden believes that apparently the Americans who are stuck on the ground in Kabul are less important than getting the troops out because ISIS might attack the American troops at Kabul airport.
00:06:41.000 Again, that is only happening as a direct result of Joe Biden withdrawing what military we had from Afghanistan in the first place and also destroying the Afghan military from the inside.
00:06:50.000 Remember, the entire Afghan military had been built Along the lines of working with the American military in terms of being able to call in close air support and use both the American Air Force as well as the nascent Afghan Air Force, which required American upkeep.
00:07:02.000 Joe Biden withdrew all of that.
00:07:03.000 And so the forces just dissolved.
00:07:06.000 Joe Biden's original plan as of July was that the U.S.
00:07:08.000 would leave, the Afghan National Army would probably hold for another few months, and then it would probably collapse, and then he would say, well, it's going to happen anyway.
00:07:15.000 But it didn't happen that way.
00:07:16.000 As soon as the U.S. withdrew, the entire thing collapsed.
00:07:18.000 And now you've got Americans trapped.
00:07:19.000 And Joe Biden's highest priority is not getting the Americans who are on the ground in Kabul out.
00:07:24.000 It is getting the soldiers out because he is afraid for two reasons.
00:07:27.000 One, if there's an attack on American troops, the American troops are going to have to fire back.
00:07:31.000 And then we are going to have to put real troop numbers back on the ground in Kabul.
00:07:35.000 And the war that he was so eager about withdrawing from will have now been heightened to its greatest point since 2014.
00:07:41.000 And we'll have no foothold in the country.
00:07:42.000 Right?
00:07:43.000 So that is his great fear, is that we get drawn back into the war because he's such a moron and because he created this situation himself.
00:07:48.000 That is fear number one, is there will be attack on American troops.
00:07:52.000 The second fear that he has is that the protraction of the conflict will lead to political consequences.
00:07:58.000 So one is the conflict itself, and one is the timeline of the conflict.
00:08:00.000 He is hoping this whole thing is over by September 11th, and then he can go back to watching Matlock and spooning cream of wheat into his addled mouth.
00:08:08.000 That is his greatest and most ardent desire.
00:08:10.000 And all they have to do to get there is just keep lying to you, and keep fibbing to you, and keep hoping that you stop paying attention.
00:08:16.000 And instead you pay attention to their budget deals, and instead you pay attention to COVID.
00:08:19.000 It's wag the everything else in order to distract from what's going on in Afghanistan.
00:08:25.000 And again, the baseline for success is now set so low in Afghanistan that if we get out the majority of the Americans who are on the ground, Joe Biden is going to call it a success.
00:08:33.000 If we get out, the vast majority of the Americans were on the ground.
00:08:35.000 We leave a few behind, but we get everybody else out.
00:08:38.000 He's going to call that a success and say, well, it was always going to go this way.
00:08:41.000 He's already saying this, like right now, they're already calling it a huge success and saying it was already going to go this way, even though it was not destined to go this way.
00:08:47.000 It was a Joe Biden decision, pure and simple.
00:08:50.000 And even though it is certainly not a huge success, the whole point, for example, of the evacuation of Dunkirk was to preserve the British army to fight the Nazis afterward.
00:08:59.000 It is not called a success when you retreat in the face of an 8th century goat-herding barbarian army for no reason other than your own vanity, which is what Joe Biden did right here.
00:09:10.000 So here's the latest from the New York Times.
00:09:11.000 President Biden said Tuesday the U.S.
00:09:13.000 intended to withdraw completely from Afghanistan at the end of the month as planned, rebuffing pleas from Britain, France, and other NATO allies to keep troops in Kabul and hastening the end of a frantic evacuation that has become a grim coda to two decades of war.
00:09:24.000 Again, even the way the New York Times phrases this, a grim coda to two decades of war.
00:09:28.000 The United States had lost zero troops in combat since February of 2020.
00:09:33.000 The main American effort in the war ended in 2014.
00:09:38.000 All media coverage is directed toward the idea that it was a bare-bones necessity for the United States to get out of Afghanistan completely.
00:09:45.000 That is not true.
00:09:46.000 And by polling data, by the way, the polls suggest that Americans wanted out of Afghanistan.
00:09:50.000 But if you said to Americans, should we leave like a skeleton force in there in a non-combat facility to advise the Afghan military?
00:09:56.000 Most Americans are like, OK.
00:09:57.000 Because we do that everywhere.
00:09:59.000 We have American troops all over the world.
00:10:01.000 We have American troops in probably over 100 countries at this point.
00:10:05.000 Even as Mr. Biden spoke from the White House, officials said the United States had already begun to reduce its military presence at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, sending about 300 of the 5,800 Marines and soldiers home in anticipation of the conclusion of their rescue mission within a week.
00:10:20.000 The sooner we can finish, the better, said the president, hours after informing world leaders of his intentions during an emergency virtual meeting.
00:10:26.000 Citing the threat from ISIS-K, which is like Special K, except with Islamic terrorists, and operating in Afghanistan, he said, Every day we're on the ground is another day we know that ISIS-K is seeking to target the airport, attack both U.S.
00:10:37.000 and allied forces, and innocent civilians.
00:10:39.000 Yeah, it would be great if we had like a military presence that could kill those bastards, wouldn't it?
00:10:42.000 Mmm.
00:10:43.000 Yeah, wonder where that went.
00:10:46.000 Biden didn't close the door to extending what has become an immense evacuation effort.
00:10:49.000 He said he has contingency plans.
00:10:51.000 But, um, I don't trust him on that because he said this was all planned in the first place.
00:10:55.000 Remember, it was all part of the plan.
00:10:56.000 Joe Biden has now taken on the full Heath Ledger in the dark night perspective of the Joker, which is nobody panics if you have a plan.
00:11:03.000 OK, well, there's no plan.
00:11:06.000 You're just saying there's a plan.
00:11:07.000 And we all know this.
00:11:08.000 We all know this.
00:11:11.000 So the troop drawdown has begun, according to Stars and Stripes.
00:11:16.000 The president stuck to his deadline on Tuesday.
00:11:21.000 His decision came as the Taliban warned it would not accept a deadline extension.
00:11:23.000 That's the real reason.
00:11:24.000 It's not because Joe Biden thinks we're going to be done by August 31st.
00:11:27.000 He knows we're not going to be done by August 31st.
00:11:29.000 You can't find a single person in an intelligence or a defense position who believes that everyone who needs to be evacuated will be evacuated by August 31st.
00:11:36.000 They do not exist.
00:11:38.000 Okay, this is across the aisle.
00:11:39.000 There is bipartisan agreement across the aisle, but this will not be done by August 31st.
00:11:43.000 What is the real reason that August 31st is the date?
00:11:45.000 Because the Taliban, again, a bunch of barbarian goat herders from the 8th century, are telling Joe Biden, the president of the most powerful military force in the history of the world, what to do.
00:11:56.000 That is how craven and pathetic and buffoonish this president is when it comes to foreign policy.
00:12:02.000 I mean, that's unbelievable.
00:12:03.000 The Taliban are saying, you guys better leave by August 31st.
00:12:06.000 Now, the normal American response would be, or what?
00:12:09.000 Or what?
00:12:10.000 We have overwhelming air power.
00:12:11.000 We have the most powerful military on planet Earth.
00:12:14.000 And if you touch us, we will bomb you forward into the Stone Age.
00:12:21.000 If you touch us, we still, you have no air force, we will still go in and we will kill so many of you, it will make your head swim.
00:12:27.000 And then you can talk all you want about how you took over the country, but you have a lot of bodies to bury.
00:12:31.000 So you're going to let us do what we need to do or we're not leaving.
00:12:35.000 Right, we could do that, but Joe Biden is so scared of the bad headline, of having to actually bomb the Taliban, his new peace partners, that he is now running PR for the Taliban.
00:12:44.000 He is now in thrall to the Taliban.
00:12:45.000 He is bowing before the Taliban.
00:12:47.000 He works for them.
00:12:48.000 This is unbelievable.
00:12:49.000 A bunch of theocratic Fascistic Islamofascists telling the president of the United States what to do with Americans stuck in Kabul and he's like, well, all right.
00:13:03.000 It's the most humiliating garbage I've ever seen from an American president.
00:13:05.000 We've seen some pretty humiliating garbage from the American president.
00:13:09.000 Ranging from the president having interns on their knees in the Oval Office to January 6th.
00:13:14.000 I mean, we've seen some pretty bad stuff from American presidents in the course of my lifetime.
00:13:18.000 Let me just say that this makes all of this look like nothing.
00:13:22.000 Like nothing.
00:13:24.000 The president of the United States playing PR spokesperson for the Taliban?
00:13:28.000 Remember, this is the group that housed the people who committed, September 11th, killing 3,000 American citizens, refused to turn over Osama bin Laden.
00:13:35.000 These are the exact same people, okay?
00:13:37.000 It's not a different group.
00:13:38.000 Mullah Omar's son is on the Taliban ruling council.
00:13:41.000 The head of the Haqqani Network, which is an Al-Qaeda offshoot, is on the Taliban council and currently running security in Kabul.
00:13:48.000 The co-founder of the Taliban, with Mullah Omar, is now back in power.
00:13:51.000 It's the exact same human beings.
00:13:53.000 And Joe Biden is not just taking their statements under advisement, he's just listening to them.
00:14:00.000 So how many Americans are still left over there?
00:14:02.000 Apparently, the Pentagon finally announced how many Americans were out.
00:14:06.000 Now, you'll remember, as of last week, it was like 2,200 Americans were out.
00:14:09.000 And we kept saying over and over, members of the press, say, how many Americans are out?
00:14:12.000 How many Americans are out?
00:14:13.000 People kept asking because the Biden administration was just giving overall evacuation figures, right?
00:14:17.000 They were loading a lot of Afghans onto planes.
00:14:19.000 And then they were saying it's 30,000, 40,000, 50,000, 70,000.
00:14:23.000 And Americans are saying, OK, right, but how many of those are Americans?
00:14:25.000 Because we've been told there are 10,000 to 15,000 Americans on the ground in Kabul alone.
00:14:30.000 Forget about the rest of the country.
00:14:31.000 Yesterday, the Pentagon said that there were some 4,000 American passport holders and their families who had been evacuated.
00:14:39.000 So if you just do the math, you're still talking about, what, less than a third of the Americans in Kabul who have been evacuated at this point?
00:14:48.000 Our allies, of course, are absolutely enraged.
00:14:52.000 That is no shock at all.
00:14:52.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:14:53.000 First, let us talk about a simple fact.
00:14:57.000 When you're driving around in your car, a lot of people get carsick.
00:15:01.000 My wife tends to suffer pretty severe carsickness.
00:15:04.000 My sister as well.
00:15:05.000 And let me tell you that the best solution to this is relief band.
00:15:08.000 Relief Band is the number one FDA-cleared anti-nausea wristband that has been clinically proven to quickly relieve and effectively prevent nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, anxiety, migraines, hangovers, morning sickness, chemo, and so much more.

00:16:19.000 So, our European allies, who still have people on the ground, they say that they are just outraged, like beyond belief.
00:16:25.000 They say that this is the lowest point in U.S.-British relations since the Suez Canal crisis of 1956, and that this has called the special relationship into serious question.
00:16:34.000 According to the UK Guardian, Britain's evacuation from Kabul is now expected to end within 24 to 36 hours, potentially abandoning thousands of Afghans, according to defense sources.
00:16:43.000 The U.S.
00:16:44.000 President rejected pleas from the U.K.
00:16:45.000 for the humanitarian airlift to continue beyond August 31st.
00:16:49.000 And this triggered claims from conservative MPs that the, quote, special relationship is over and that U.S.-U.K.
00:16:53.000 relations were about to enter their lowest point since Suez.
00:16:57.000 After the G7, U.K.
00:16:58.000 defense sources told The Guardian the U.S.
00:16:59.000 military is believed to need two to three days to close down its operations at Kabul airport.
00:17:03.000 British troops want to be at least 24 hours ahead of that.
00:17:06.000 That means that basically everything has to start wrapping up within 24 hours of now.
00:17:11.000 Because if you're talking about August 31st, today is August 25th.
00:17:15.000 That means we have six days to get out and we need at least three days for the United States to get its military out.
00:17:21.000 So that means that by August 28th, pretty much all the evacuation has to be done.
00:17:25.000 Good luck.
00:17:26.000 Good luck.
00:17:28.000 Meanwhile, Boris Johnson focused on what he called a roadmap for future engagement with the Taliban.
00:17:36.000 So now we're going to see the Europeans pretend that their economic impact on the Taliban is going to get them to stop acting like barbarians.
00:17:42.000 Okay, so here's the President of the United States attempting to quall all of the qualms of the American public.
00:17:50.000 And the American public are very upset about this.
00:17:52.000 His approval rating is down to 41%.
00:17:53.000 And this doddering old fool is leading us.
00:17:56.000 Here he was yesterday saying that we are on pace to finish by August 31st.
00:17:59.000 However, that deadline relies on our good friends, the Taliban, to help us.
00:18:05.000 We are currently on a pace to finish by August 31st.
00:18:10.000 The sooner we can finish, the better.
00:18:12.000 Each day of operations brings added risk to our troops.
00:18:17.000 But the completion by August 31st depends upon the Taliban continuing to cooperate and allow access to the airport for those who are transporting out, and no disruptions to our operations.
00:18:31.000 Oh, so it'll go great by August 31st.
00:18:34.000 All it requires is for the Taliban to be our best friends.
00:18:37.000 That's totally gonna happen, guys.
00:18:38.000 By the way, there's only one way that actually happens, and that is if we are sending unbelievable, ungodly amounts of money over to the worst force on planet Earth.
00:18:46.000 Now, is that really going to happen?
00:18:48.000 Pretty much everybody says no.
00:18:50.000 There are two representatives, Seth Moulton, Democrat of Massachusetts, and Peter Major, from Michigan, Republican.
00:18:55.000 And they secretly traveled into Kabul.
00:18:58.000 The government is trying to push back on this by saying it was selfish of them to go to Kabul.
00:19:01.000 Okay, first of all, they hitched a flight without the government knowing about it.
00:19:04.000 They didn't hitch a flight back until they found a plane that had empty seats on it.
00:19:07.000 Okay, but they released a statement, and this is why the government's really mad.
00:19:10.000 This is why the White House is pissed.
00:19:11.000 Because these two congressmen went there to survey the situation on the ground.
00:19:15.000 And here is what they said.
00:19:17.000 As members of Congress, we have a duty to provide oversight on the executive branch.
00:19:21.000 There is no place in the world right now where oversight matters more.
00:19:23.000 We conducted this visit in secret, speaking about it only after our departure to minimize the risk and disruption to the people on the ground, and because we were there to gather information, not to grandstand.
00:19:31.000 We left on a plane with empty seats, seated in crew-only seats to ensure nobody who needed a seat would lose one because of our presence.
00:19:37.000 Washington should be ashamed of the position we put our service members in.
00:19:40.000 These men and women have been run ragged and are still running strong.
00:19:42.000 Their empathy and dedication to duty are truly inspiring.
00:19:45.000 The acts of heroism and selflessness we witnessed at Hamid Karzai International Airport make America proud.
00:19:50.000 We came into this visit wanting, like most veterans, to push the president to extend the August 31st deadline.
00:19:55.000 After talking with the commanders on the ground and seeing the situation here, it is obvious that because we started the evacuation so late, no matter what we do, we will not get everyone out on time, even by September 11th!
00:20:06.000 Forget August 31st, September 11th!
00:20:08.000 Sadly and frustratingly, getting our people out depends on maintaining the current bizarre relationship with the Taliban.
00:20:14.000 That is according to a member of Congress, a Democrat, Seth Moulton, and a Republican member of Congress, Peter Major.
00:20:19.000 But Joe Biden says, don't worry, we're on pace to finish by August 31st.
00:20:22.000 All we need is the help of the Taliban.
00:20:24.000 Then Biden went on, he said, we're making contingency plans if necessary.
00:20:26.000 Oh really?
00:20:27.000 How have those gone so far, your contingency plans?
00:20:30.000 I believe him.
00:20:31.000 I believe him.
00:20:32.000 Here's Joe Biden lying to you.
00:20:34.000 In addition, I've asked the Pentagon and the State Department For contingency plans to adjust the timetable, should that become necessary.
00:20:44.000 I'm determined to ensure that we complete our mission, this mission.
00:20:49.000 I'm also mindful of the increasing risks that I've been briefed on and the need to factor those risks in.
00:20:59.000 They're real and significant challenges that we also have to take into consideration.
00:21:07.000 Okay, then Joe Biden was going to be asked questions by the press.
00:21:11.000 And so Joe Biden now treats the press the same way he treats the Taliban.
00:21:14.000 He runs away from them.
00:21:15.000 This is the very end of his press conference.
00:21:17.000 He makes a five minute statement, something like five hours late, and then he just runs from the room.
00:21:23.000 This is Biden's back better.
00:21:25.000 You can see his back better as he walks away from the podium, not answering any questions.
00:21:31.000 Thank you.
00:21:32.000 Catch you later.
00:21:36.000 Bye.
00:21:38.000 How many images of the president running away from the press are we gonna need to see before people start to realize that this guy's a joke?
00:21:43.000 I mean, like, fully a joke.
00:21:45.000 There's all this talk about Donald Trump's bad relations with the press.
00:21:49.000 You think Donald Trump would have been able to get away with it with the press if this disaster had occurred on his watch and then he had run away from the press every single day?
00:21:57.000 Like made a statement and then run headlong from the press?
00:22:00.000 The problem for Republicans is Trump wanted to speak to the press too much.
00:22:03.000 Joe Biden can't help running away from the press.
00:22:06.000 His handlers do not want him out front.
00:22:08.000 He is disquieting.
00:22:09.000 He makes the world worse every time he opens his mouth on matters like this.
00:22:14.000 And that is perfectly obvious to everyone.
00:22:16.000 And he is also lying.
00:22:17.000 Okay, the notion that we're getting everybody out by August 31st is a lie.
00:22:20.000 The White House is already moving the bar.
00:22:22.000 The White House is already admitting that there's no question that we are going to be leaving Afghan allies who we promised help.
00:22:29.000 Joe Biden said last month we were going to get them help.
00:22:31.000 We are going to leave them on the ground and many of them are going to die.
00:22:32.000 There's no question that's happening.
00:22:34.000 But there's open question right now whether we even get all the Americans out.
00:22:38.000 In fact, pretty much everybody agrees there is no opportunity for us to do so.
00:22:43.000 So, for example, we are now in the bizarre position in which Adam Schiff is telling us more truth than the White House, which is weird because Adam Schiff is terrible.
00:22:52.000 Adam Schiff, the congressman from California, yesterday, he said it's very unlikely we can evacuate everybody by the end of the month.
00:22:58.000 He said this after going to a classified briefing.
00:23:01.000 I think it's possible, but I think it's very unlikely.
00:23:05.000 Given the number of Americans who still need to be evacuated, the number of SIVs, the number of others who are members of the Afghan press, civil society leaders, women leaders, it's hard for me to imagine all of that can be accomplished between now and the end of the month.
00:23:24.000 Okay, so that's Adam Schiff.
00:23:26.000 Okay, would you like more Democrats saying the same thing?
00:23:28.000 Here's Representative Tom Malinowski saying this deadline is a mistake.
00:23:33.000 The conditions have changed for the worst in the last 24 hours.
00:23:37.000 The Taliban, because of the mistake, I think, that we made of setting this artificial self-imposed deadline, they've now seized upon it, as you said, and started blocking Afghans at risk from going to the airport.
00:23:53.000 Hey, Representative Andy Kim, another Democrat, he says, yeah, there's no way we're going to finish this on time.
00:23:58.000 This effort is one that has certainly led me to believe that the mission is not something that we can accomplish by the end of this month.
00:24:05.000 And I strongly, urgently urge the President to reconsider his continued aim towards August 31st to be able to get our mission done.
00:24:16.000 We will not be able to get our mission done by that time based off of what I've seen and based off of what we've experienced so far.
00:24:24.000 These are all Democrats.
00:24:25.000 Here's Obama's Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Jay Johnson, saying, yeah, the airport's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
00:24:32.000 I believe that the situation at the airport is going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
00:24:38.000 This is a country of 38 million people.
00:24:42.000 We've got to deal with the American citizens, those who qualify for special immigrant visas, but then those who also qualify for refugee status under our laws.
00:24:52.000 And that population could snowball.
00:24:55.000 How bad is the situation over there right now?
00:24:57.000 Pretty damn bad.
00:24:58.000 Richard Engel from NBC News tweeted out the State Department is in such utter, complete, masterful control of the situation that yesterday they issued a last alert for U.S.
00:25:06.000 citizens to leave Afghanistan or said they were on their own.
00:25:09.000 And then 30 minutes later said, oh, yeah, oops.
00:25:13.000 No, no, we're still here.
00:25:14.000 Oops.
00:25:15.000 I'm sure Americans who are stuck in Afghanistan feel very, I would say, sanguine about their prospects right now.
00:25:21.000 Probably everything is fine.
00:25:23.000 Meanwhile, the New York Times reporting that there are people who are showing up to the airport and then being turned away despite the fact that they have papers.
00:25:32.000 I mean, there's a story from the New York Times that a former CIA officer had helped bring something like 500 translators to the airport, and they were immediately rejected.
00:25:46.000 On Sunday, there was Matt Zeller, the former CIA officer, who you've heard talk on CNN.
00:25:52.000 He said that veterans and contacts in Afghanistan organized an operation to bring to the airport some 500 SIV holders, who are these, this is a special visa holders, who are considered at high risk of Taliban reprisals.
00:26:05.000 They were able to get the Afghans inside the airport.
00:26:08.000 Then they were turned back at what he describes as a State Department checkpoint.
00:26:12.000 On Monday evening, according to Zeller, Taliban soldiers approached the Afghans outside the airport gate and separated them according to their paperwork, telling visa holders they would not be allowed to enter.
00:26:22.000 Fearing that opportunities to get their colleagues safely out of Afghanistan were tightening, the veterans worked on evacuation from afar, describing feelings of helplessness.
00:26:30.000 I feel a moral obligation to get these people out, said Trip Adams, an Army veteran who's been working on the effort, when you're halfway across the world and you can't do anything, when hardened warriors are calling me and they're cracking.
00:26:38.000 This is going to destroy a generation of veterans.
00:26:42.000 In Kabul, Afghans who worked for the U.S.
00:26:44.000 government and secured special immigrant visas said they had received emails from the State Department asking them to come to the airport, and then they get there, and then they're turned back.
00:26:52.000 It's a disaster area.
00:26:57.000 Meanwhile, of course, the kinder and gentler Taliban are beating women to death for not cooking.
00:27:03.000 According to Hot Air, In the space of a single week, reliable news coverage from any part of Afghanistan other than Kabul has become increasingly hard to come by.
00:27:11.000 As the Taliban solidifies their control of the nation, says Jaz Shaw of Hot Air, there are still some media outlets with boots on the ground out in the more remote provinces.
00:27:18.000 One story was picked up by CNN earlier this week, telling a tale that took place earlier in the month before the Taliban captured the capital.
00:27:24.000 The incident was reported in Faryab province, well to the north.
00:27:27.000 It was one of the earlier provinces the Taliban retook.
00:27:30.000 A woman pseudonymously identified as Najia and her daughter, Manisha, had been visited for three nights in a row by groups of more than a dozen Taliban fighters.
00:27:37.000 They demanded Najia cook dinner for them, quickly running out of food for her own family.
00:27:41.000 She protested she was too poor to continue to host them, so they beat her to death.
00:27:47.000 Najia's daughter, Manisha, 25, knew they were coming.
00:27:49.000 Her mother had told her they'd done the same thing the previous three days, demanding she cook food for up to 15 fighters.
00:27:54.000 My mother told them I'm poor, how can I cook for you, said Muneesha.
00:27:56.000 The Taliban started beating her.
00:27:57.000 My mother collapsed.
00:27:58.000 They hit her with their guns, AK-47s.
00:28:00.000 Muneesha said she yelled at the fighters to stop.
00:28:02.000 They paused for a moment before they threw a grenade into the next room and fleeing as the flames spread.
00:28:06.000 The mother of four died from the beating.
00:28:07.000 Muneesha's village was overrun by the Taliban so quickly, some women reported not having time to go shop for a burqa.
00:28:15.000 Some of them reported being severely beaten in the streets for then not being properly attired.
00:28:20.000 Good thing the United States sent gender advisors to the country.
00:28:24.000 That definitely worked.
00:28:26.000 Also, Taliban spokespeople who say that women have rights in Afghanistan, they do.
00:28:30.000 They just didn't comply with the Sharia law, but they have rights.
00:28:33.000 A Taliban spokesperson is now urging women to stay home because the fighters, you know, while we want to be tolerant, the fighters have not been trained to respect women.
00:28:42.000 The spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, called it a temporary policy intended to protect women until the Taliban could ensure their safety.
00:28:49.000 He said, we're worried our forces who are new and have not yet been trained very well may mistreat women.
00:28:53.000 We don't want our forces, God forbid, to harm or harass women.
00:28:55.000 Yeah, if there's one thing the Taliban is for, it's for protecting women, protecting the status of women.
00:29:00.000 It is no wonder that there is video now emerging from Afghanistan of Afghan men who have worked with the U.S.
00:29:04.000 military yelling at Joe Biden.
00:29:06.000 This is not a shock, nor is it unjustified.
00:29:08.000 Here is one such video.
00:29:10.000 Mr. Biden, you did this!
00:29:13.000 You planned this!
00:29:14.000 You made the deal with the Taliban!
00:29:16.000 This is the consequences of it!
00:29:18.000 This is the repercussions of it!
00:29:20.000 Mr. Biden, it's your ill calculation!
00:29:23.000 You were against Trump, now we are against you!
00:29:26.000 Go to hell, Biden!
00:29:31.000 Unbelievable.
00:29:32.000 Unbelievable.
00:29:33.000 Okay, well, the good news is, everything's going great.
00:29:36.000 So the goal here, and this has been a typical habit of the Biden administration, is you say that you set the goalposts really, really close.
00:29:45.000 So then if you overcome the goalposts, you say that you've done an amazing job.
00:29:47.000 So you remember that the Biden administration did this, for example, with the COVID vaccine rollout.
00:29:51.000 They said, if we get to a million shots a day, we are so good at our job.
00:29:55.000 By the time they took office, we were already doing a million shots a day.
00:29:57.000 And then they were like, oh man, look how good we are at this.
00:29:59.000 We're doing a million shots a day.
00:30:02.000 So they do this sort of stuff routinely where they set the bar really, really low, like so low that Michael Moore could jump it easily, right?
00:30:10.000 It's like the lowest bar in the entire world.
00:30:13.000 All the forces of gravity could not prevent them from overcoming this tiny, tiny little bar, right?
00:30:17.000 Well, that is what they are now doing with Afghanistan.
00:30:19.000 So they completely gave up a country of 38 million people.
00:30:22.000 19 million of whom are women who will be forced into, who will be routinely raped for the rest of their lives.
00:30:27.000 Many large swaths of this.
00:30:29.000 Not only that, they're leaving thousands of Americans right now without a way to get out in Kabul.
00:30:36.000 But there are flights leaving Kabul airport.
00:30:38.000 So that means that everything is going great.
00:30:41.000 In fact, says Jen Psaki, this is a massive success.
00:30:44.000 What you're watching on the ground as Afghans plummet from 3,000 feet down onto the tarmac and explode, as you watch the Americans in Kabul attempting to get out and being beaten by the Taliban, as you watch American soldiers breaking down because they can't help their friends who served with them in the Afghan army, this is all a massive success.
00:31:06.000 It's a massive success.
00:31:08.000 Some might suggest this is a big lie.
00:31:09.000 Some might say that.
00:31:10.000 Here is Jen Psaki.
00:31:13.000 I would say that this is now on track, Peter, to be the largest airlift in U.S.
00:31:18.000 history.
00:31:19.000 And that is bringing American citizens out.
00:31:22.000 It is bringing our Afghan partners out.
00:31:24.000 It is bringing allies out.
00:31:26.000 So no, I would not say that is anything but a success.
00:31:32.000 It's nothing but a success.
00:31:33.000 Nothing but a success.
00:31:34.000 It's an unbelievable success.
00:31:36.000 See, we had this boat, and the boat was okay.
00:31:38.000 It was on the water.
00:31:39.000 It wasn't the greatest boat, but it was on the water.
00:31:40.000 And we took some dynamite, and we put it below the water line, and then we just exploded it.
00:31:45.000 And now there's water gushing in here.
00:31:47.000 But let me tell you, we have lifeboats.
00:31:49.000 And many of those lifeboats will be filled with passengers.
00:31:52.000 Not all the passengers will get out alive.
00:31:54.000 Some of them will drown.
00:31:55.000 Some of them will end up at the bottom of the sea.
00:31:57.000 Don't say this is a disaster.
00:31:58.000 This is a massive success.
00:32:00.000 It's a massive success.
00:32:02.000 Never before.
00:32:03.000 I mean, this is a big boat.
00:32:04.000 It was a big boat.
00:32:06.000 And that means that we're going to have a lot of lifeboats filled with people.
00:32:09.000 In fact, this is the greatest lifeboat rescue of our lifetime.
00:32:13.000 It is the greatest success in using lifeboats we have ever seen.
00:32:15.000 Sure, it was us that put the dynamite below the waterline.
00:32:18.000 And sure, we did light the fuse.
00:32:19.000 And sure, we did explode it and let the water start pouring in like Poseidon Adventure.
00:32:24.000 But the real thing you need to focus on is that never before, we're setting like a Guinness Book of World Records for how many people we are evacuating from a place we just trashed.
00:32:32.000 I mean, look at us.
00:32:33.000 We are so good at this, says Jen Psaki.
00:32:36.000 You know how stupid she thinks you are?
00:32:38.000 You.
00:32:38.000 Yes, you.
00:32:39.000 And all Americans.
00:32:39.000 You know how dumb she thinks you are?
00:32:42.000 None of this had to happen.
00:32:44.000 Zero of it.
00:32:45.000 Zero of it.
00:32:47.000 This is all Joe Biden's disaster from top to bottom.
00:32:51.000 And here she is telling you it's a massive success.
00:32:53.000 And how dare you think anything else?
00:32:54.000 So, Jen Psaki was then asked at this press conference, you know, we're all getting emails from people saying we're trying to evacuate people.
00:33:01.000 Like I, like on this show, like the host of the show, I have gotten emails, multiple, from people, many, many, many, from people who have served with Afghans on the ground in Afghanistan and who want to get them out.
00:33:14.000 And they're asking me, how do I get people?
00:33:16.000 I forwarded them on to some people who are trying to facilitate And I, like, again, I'm like three steps removed from the people who served on the ground in Afghanistan.
00:33:25.000 I didn't serve in the Army.
00:33:28.000 I'm not an officer in the Army.
00:33:29.000 I don't work for the State Department.
00:33:30.000 I don't work for the government.
00:33:30.000 I'm getting emails.
00:33:31.000 And I'm forwarding them on to people who once served in the military or know people who served in the military.
00:33:37.000 And those people in the military are then trying to get that to the State Department.
00:33:40.000 They're trying to work with NGOs.
00:33:42.000 It's a disaster area, okay?
00:33:44.000 Well, Jen Psaki was asked about this.
00:33:45.000 Her answer is, shall we say, less than satisfying.
00:33:49.000 This is a 24-7 operation.
00:33:52.000 Embassies all over the world are supporting phone banking, text banking, and email efforts.
00:33:56.000 If we are not in touch with this individual, give me their contact information and we will get in touch with them.
00:34:01.000 If any of you are hearing from American citizens who can't reach us, give me their contact information and we will get in contact with them.
00:34:10.000 Okay, how?
00:34:11.000 Your DM's open there, Jen?
00:34:13.000 How exactly do you think that it's going to happen?
00:34:16.000 Okay, then, it is so obvious what the agenda of the Biden administration here is.
00:34:19.000 It is not to facilitate success.
00:34:21.000 It is to cover their ass.
00:34:23.000 That's what this is about.
00:34:24.000 And covering their ass means covering for the Taliban and pretending that we have a solid deal with the Taliban on the ground and that everything is going to be hunky-dory by August 31st, so start getting the troops out now.
00:34:32.000 Well, again, their own description is 10,000 to 15,000 Americans were on the ground in Kabul.
00:34:38.000 Their own description yesterday is that about 4,000 Americans are out.
00:34:41.000 That leaves behind somewhere between, if my math is correct, 6,000 and 11,000 Americans.
00:34:46.000 They still need to get out and that's just in Kabul alone.
00:34:48.000 That does not include any of the outlying areas.
00:34:51.000 And there are many Americans out there because remember, the Taliban took over the country inside of like a week.
00:34:56.000 Like, this is madness.
00:34:58.000 And it gets worse.
00:34:59.000 I mean, Jen Psaki, the left is slobbering over Jen Psaki and her incredible performance.
00:35:06.000 I don't know what they're watching.
00:35:07.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.

00:36:26.000 When it comes to insurance, it's nice and very important to get it right.
00:36:30.000 I'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:36:32.000 First, on Monday, the FDA announced approval of the Pfizer vaccine, which is good.
00:36:36.000 What is bad is that Joe Biden then decided it was time to urge private companies to mandate vaccines for their employees.
00:36:41.000 Well, now is a good time between that and President Biden completely botching Afghanistan.
00:36:47.000 It is a good time to get together for backstage.
00:36:49.000 There's a lot to talk about.
00:36:50.000 Me, Jeremy Boring, Michael Molls, Matt Walsh, Andrew Clavin.
00:36:52.000 I'm sure there will be some hot, fraught debate.

00:38:02.000 Deadline Hollywood just released the details and an exclusive photo of the Daily Wire's first original film.
00:38:08.000 It's called Shut In.
00:38:09.000 It's directed by DJ Caruso, executive produced by Daily Wire co-founders, production on the thriller, wrapped this weekend.
00:38:15.000 It's gonna be available to you, Daily Wire members, beginning in January, 2022.
00:38:20.000 So that will be the next movie from Daily Wire.
00:38:23.000 We had Run Hyde Fight, now we have one called Shut In.
00:38:25.000 It's excellent.
00:38:26.000 It's really, really good.
00:38:27.000 It's a tense thriller.
00:38:28.000 The film is centered around a young single mother who's barricaded inside a pantry by her violent ex-boyfriend, using nothing but her voice to guide her two small children to escape escalating danger.
00:38:37.000 It's intense, it's suspenseful, and it has the values you're looking for.
00:38:39.000 The trailer for Shut In will be out soon.
00:38:41.000 We know our members are going to love this film.
00:38:43.000 We need your support, by the way, because when we entered the industry, we were sending Hollywood a message.
00:38:47.000 You no longer have a monopoly on the film industry.
00:38:49.000 The release of Shudden is the next step in improving it.
00:38:51.000 We need your support, which is why you should go subscribe and help us out.
00:38:53.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:38:57.000 So again, the goal of the Biden administration is to just obscure what is happening in Afghanistan long enough for us to leave, and then they hope that you forget about everything that just happened.
00:39:10.000 We've had some tens of thousands of Afghans who've been evacuated.
00:39:13.000 We still have thousands of Americans on the ground in Kabul, which raises the question, why aren't those Americans the first ones out?
00:39:18.000 I want the Afghans out too.
00:39:20.000 We made promises to those people.
00:39:21.000 Those people spent 20 years fighting wars in cahoots with the United States.
00:39:25.000 They put their lives on the line for American interests, because yes, we have interests in Afghanistan against terrorism, which we're now going to pretend we don't have.
00:39:32.000 For the sake of a dumb talking point.
00:39:34.000 But if you're going to evacuate people and you're the American government, the first people you should be evacuating are American citizens.
00:39:40.000 So where are they?
00:39:42.000 Why can't we get them out?
00:39:43.000 Why weren't they the first people out?
00:39:44.000 The reason the Pentagon has been spending days obscuring how many people were Americans on those flights is because the number is really low.
00:39:51.000 Again, a week ago we had 2,200 Americans out.
00:39:53.000 Today we have 4,000 Americans out.
00:39:55.000 We've been flying 10,000 people out a day.
00:39:56.000 20,000 people out a day.
00:39:59.000 Why aren't more Americans out?
00:40:01.000 What are the obstacles?
00:40:02.000 Why isn't this administration being honest with us?
00:40:05.000 Well, Jen Psaki has one goal and one goal only, and that is to prevent people from using the word stranded.
00:40:09.000 So once again, Jen Psaki and Peter Doocy went over it again, whether Americans are in fact stranded in Kabul.
00:40:16.000 What do you say to the American citizen in Kabul that Fahd spoke to this morning?
00:40:20.000 Her name is Fahd.
00:40:21.000 She's going by Fatima.
00:40:23.000 She says, we are stranded at home.
00:40:25.000 For four days, three days, we didn't hear anything from anywhere.
00:40:28.000 And they're saying to go to the airport, but we're not being given clear guidance.
00:40:31.000 Our emails are getting ignored.
00:40:32.000 If you say no Americans are stranded, this is someone in Kabul who says, I am stranded.
00:40:37.000 So is there a better word for somebody who can't leave the house to get to the airport because Jay Sullivan says ISIS is outside the airport?
00:40:45.000 I would welcome you providing their phone number and we will reach out to them today.
00:40:51.000 Oh, we'll reach out to them.
00:40:52.000 And if you give her their phone number, then they'll reach out.
00:40:54.000 You know, that's and that's the important thing, right?
00:40:56.000 They're not stranded because Jen Psaki told Peter Doocy Who is not a spokesperson or a lawyer for this woman, or this woman herself, that she is on call.
00:41:05.000 Well, great, Jen.
00:41:07.000 I'm sure that person finds that super comforting and very, very, very helpful.
00:41:10.000 By the way, Jen Psaki also said that, as everybody knows, when we say we have to be out by August 31st, that means civilian evacuations have to end before August 31st.
00:41:18.000 Because, again, we have to get the military out too.
00:41:20.000 So here is Jen Psaki admitting as much.
00:41:23.000 Does that mean that the evacuations will stop before the actual 31st, so then there is time to get the troops and their machinery and weaponry out of there?
00:41:33.000 That would be correct, yes, that there would need to be time to wind down the presence.
00:41:38.000 I will note, though, that the purpose of this statement is to provide additional context of what the president conveyed to the G7, which includes a number of very key components as he assesses day by day.
00:41:52.000 Oh, well, you know, he's assessing it day by day.
00:41:54.000 And if we know one thing, it is that Joe Biden is definitely on top of the news, which is why he has failed to actually be in concert with the news for weeks on end and was lying to the American public or was ignorant of what was actually going on.
00:42:05.000 So if he's on top of it, Joe Biden is on top of it the same way that your grandmother in a nursing home is on top of the news.
00:42:13.000 Sure.
00:42:15.000 OK.
00:42:16.000 All right.
00:42:17.000 By the way, Jen Psaki also admits there could be Americans left in Afghanistan after August 31st.
00:42:20.000 This is saying the quiet part out loud right here.
00:42:23.000 If one U.S.
00:42:24.000 citizen was suddenly discovered, you know, saying, hey, I really want to get out, and I'm stuck, who knows where, somewhere in Afghanistan or in Kabul, you've got any problem?
00:42:32.000 Would this trigger a diplomatic, military, or hands-on-deck type thing to get that person out, whatever the date?
00:42:40.000 Our commitment continues to be to U.S.
00:42:42.000 citizens.
00:42:42.000 If they want to leave, we will help get them out.
00:42:45.000 No matter what the date?
00:42:46.000 Again, we expect there could be some, but I'm not going to get into it further.
00:42:51.000 Go ahead.
00:42:52.000 She's not going to get into it further.
00:42:53.000 There could be Americans who are left in Afghanistan.
00:42:56.000 We expect there will be Americans left in Afghanistan after August 31st, but then we'll be working back channels to try and get them out.
00:43:01.000 You know, none of this had to happen.
00:43:03.000 None of it.
00:43:04.000 How delusional is all of this?
00:43:06.000 How much do you trust this administration?
00:43:08.000 I mean, I don't trust this administration further than I can throw it, which is not very far.
00:43:12.000 The Taliban have said, we are not allowing people to get to the airport.
00:43:15.000 The Taliban spokesperson, in fact, came out and said, we are not going to allow Afghans any longer to exit the country.
00:43:21.000 They said, quote, change your policy.
00:43:23.000 Please don't encourage our friends to leave.
00:43:25.000 Don't encourage our engineers, our doctors, our military.
00:43:27.000 We need them.
00:43:28.000 We are not in favor of allowing Afghans to leave.
00:43:30.000 So the Taliban is closing the doors on Afghans trying to get out because they are either going to conscript them into the Taliban or they're going to murder them.
00:43:37.000 But the good news is, Jen Psaki says, well, you know, we expect the Taliban to let them leave.
00:43:41.000 Here's Jen Psaki.
00:43:43.000 We've seen over the past nine days a rush of people attempt to come to the airport.
00:43:49.000 We certainly understand that, but that also creates security risk and one that we have great concern about.
00:43:54.000 So to be clear, individuals who are eligible for special immigrant visas or others who we are helping facilitate their evacuation and their departure, we are in touch with them or working to be in touch with them about how and when to come to the airport, as well as American citizens, as you all know, and we expect that they will be able to reach the airport.
00:44:13.000 Oh, we expect it, W. And it's not like the Taliban's in control of security, lady.
00:44:18.000 Which we all know.
00:44:19.000 So Politico, even Politico is like, this is gaslighting.
00:44:21.000 Politico has an entire piece today titled, The Definition of Gaslighting.
00:44:24.000 As chaos unfolds at Kabul Airport, Biden team projects calm.
00:44:28.000 I don't think the president's rhetoric matches the conditions on the ground, one former State Department official said.
00:44:32.000 Tens of thousands of Afghans awaiting U.S.
00:44:34.000 visas and thousands of American citizens are still stuck in Kabul, unable to find safe passage through frantic crowds, Taliban checkpoints, and Afghan guards stationed outside the airport.
00:44:43.000 Gunfire erupted outside of the north gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport on Monday, killing a number of Afghan security forces.
00:44:49.000 American officials have repeatedly had to close the gates for extended periods, leaving guards to turn away even U.S.
00:44:54.000 passport holders.
00:44:55.000 Multiple sources point to deteriorating conditions inside the airport, including lack of power and sanitation.
00:45:00.000 Tension has emerged between American troops on the ground and State Department officials trying to extract U.S.
00:45:04.000 citizens and Afghan allies.
00:45:06.000 Meanwhile, the West Wing is looking increasingly disconnected from reality as the Biden White House strives to project a sense of calm competence, even as the Taliban tightens their grip on Afghanistan.
00:45:16.000 If you look at what we're doing now and evacuating thousands of people every day, it has been a tremendous piece of work, said Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Sunday.
00:45:23.000 While the evacuation has significantly ramped up in recent days, says Politico, the reality on the ground belies the narrative the situation is under control.
00:45:30.000 The scenes around Kabul airport have been marked by violence, disorganization, bureaucratic infighting and delays, according to video and text exchanges viewed by Politico.
00:45:38.000 The result is an administration that appears increasingly out of touch as reports from Kabul continue to reflect a chaotic evacuation.
00:45:44.000 I don't think the president's rhetoric matches the conditions on the ground, says Jenna Ben-Yehuda, a 12-year veteran of the Bush and Obama State Department and president of the Truman Center, which is trying to evacuate Afghan allies.
00:45:54.000 They keep saying this was inevitable.
00:45:56.000 There was absolutely a way to avoid this.
00:45:57.000 If that's not the definition of gaslighting, I don't know what is, said Chris Purdy, project manager of Veterans for American Ideals at Human Rights First.
00:46:04.000 In order to speed the evacuation effort, defense officials in recent days proposed retaking Bagram Air Base.
00:46:10.000 Using Bagram as an additional location for flights out of the country would help ease the backlog at Kabul.
00:46:15.000 But the proposal was nixed because the White House and some Pentagon officials worried it would require deploying a large number of additional forces and could spark a conflict with the Taliban.
00:46:24.000 It was discussed, but it was not a good option, said one senior defense official.
00:46:27.000 Bagram would have been an airborne assault, just a huge operation.
00:46:30.000 Would have looked like a re-invasion.
00:46:31.000 You can't look like a re-invasion, guys.
00:46:33.000 I mean, we're busy surrendering here.
00:46:34.000 I don't know what you guys are doing, but we're surrendering around here.
00:46:37.000 And if our surrender gets in the way of Americans leaving successfully, well, you know, surrender was really important because Joe Biden wanted to go to sleep at night knowing he had surrendered in Afghanistan.
00:46:47.000 And he goes to sleep at like 6.30 at night.
00:46:49.000 So we had to get out of there right quick.
00:46:52.000 The Pentagon has acknowledged conducting only limited rescue operations within the city to bring Americans into the airport.
00:46:58.000 But officials are running up against that August 31st deadline.
00:47:01.000 And I don't think I've seen it characterized better than Richard Engel of NBC News did last night on NBC News.
00:47:07.000 Here he was.
00:47:09.000 This war used to be called Operation Enduring Freedom, and it's turned out not to be enduring, and they're not leaving behind a society that is free.
00:47:19.000 It is only free according to what the Taliban says it will be free.
00:47:23.000 The Taliban promises that it will be free.
00:47:26.000 So, you could also look at this as a tremendously humiliating moment of American humiliation, leaving, forced to leave on the Taliban's clock.
00:47:38.000 And with the Taliban's good graces.
00:47:41.000 That is correct.
00:47:43.000 And that is Joe Biden's decision.
00:47:44.000 There's no one else to blame for this, except the old man who says the buck stops with him.
00:47:48.000 So, the American people have said the buck stops with him.
00:47:50.000 Now the question is going to be, where do we go from here?
00:47:53.000 How many Americans get left behind?
00:47:54.000 How many Afghans get left behind?
00:47:56.000 And will the American people continue to pressure the Biden administration to do the right thing and get people out?
