The Ben Shapiro Show

They Married The Hooker In Vegas | Ep. 959

Summary

Dems seal the deal with socialist Bernie Sanders in Nevada, Bernie embraces actual communists AGAIN, and the underlings fight it out for second place in the Democratic primary race. Ben Shapiro breaks it all down and explains why he thinks Bernie Sanders is going to be the next president. He also explains why Joe Biden is not completely dead in the water in South Carolina, and why he should have been worried about losing to someone who is actually a socialist. 00:00:00.000 Democrats seal the deal with socialist Bernie Sanders in Nevada, Bernie embraces actual communists again, and the underlings fight it out for second place.
00:00:08.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:08.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:09.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:18.000 Why haven't you gotten a VPN yet?
00:00:20.000 Visit expressvpn.com slash Ben.
00:00:23.000 Alrighty, so the Democrats married the hooker in Vegas.
00:00:26.000 They made the move.
00:00:27.000 You know, they say that what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but that doesn't hold true.
00:00:32.000 If you go to Vegas, you go find a hooker.
00:00:35.000 You hook up with her overnight, and then you decide to run down to the nearest wedding chapel, find Elvis to marry you, and now you're stuck with that the rest of your life.
00:00:41.000 Well, well done, Democrats!
00:00:43.000 That's exactly what you did over the weekend.
00:00:44.000 The Nevada caucuses cut in favor of the open communist Bernie Sanders.
00:00:48.000 When I say he's an open communist, I mean that he's an open communist.
00:00:51.000 I mean, the guy has yet to meet a communist regime he will not praise.
00:00:54.000 He tends to pretend that he's all about Denmark and Norway without actually knowing the first thing about Denmark or Norway.
00:00:58.000 It really is astonishing how he's been able to get away with this.
00:01:00.000 He'll say that he wants a healthcare system like Denmark's, and then His healthcare system has nothing to do with Denmark.
00:01:05.000 Denmark does not look like Medicare for all.
00:01:07.000 But in any case, Bernie Sanders walks away from Nevada with a massive victory.
00:01:11.000 He ends up with 46.8% of the vote in Saturday's Nevada caucuses.
00:01:15.000 Joe Biden coming in at 20.4%.
00:01:18.000 Biden is trying to claim this as some sort of victory because after all, we're about to head on to South Carolina, which is Joe Biden's last stand.
00:01:24.000 It's the Alamo for Joe Biden.
00:01:26.000 Biden has a shot there.
00:01:27.000 He's about a 50-50 shot to win South Carolina.
00:01:29.000 If Biden were to win South Carolina, that does complicate the picture because then all of a sudden it looks like Joe Biden is not completely dead in the water.
00:01:36.000 If Bernie wins South Carolina, the sucker is over before it begins.
00:01:39.000 Pete Buttigieg walks away with 13.9% of the vote.
00:01:41.000 Elizabeth Warren, despite her supposedly glorious showing in that debate last week, that complete crap show debate, reservoir dog style ending of the debate last week, Elizabeth Warren only got 9.8% of the vote.
00:01:53.000 In the Nevada Democratic caucuses, Tom Steyer at 4.6 percent and Amy Klobuchar at 4.2 percent.
00:02:00.000 That means that Bernie runs away with this thing more than doubling up his nearest competitor, Joe Biden.
00:02:04.000 And Bernie was super excited about it.
00:02:07.000 He was triumphant about it.
00:02:09.000 In fact, here's what Bernie had to say, being triumphant, speaking in front of a rally filled with hysterical socialists.
00:02:16.000 This is clip two.
00:02:17.000 We are going to win across the country because the American people are sick and tired of a president who lies all of the time.
00:02:30.000 They are sick and tired of a corrupt administration.
00:02:35.000 They want an administration which is based on the principles of justice.
00:02:42.000 Economic justice.
00:02:46.000 Social justice.
00:02:49.000 Racial justice.
00:02:53.000 And environmental justice!
00:02:56.000 Okay, so this old communist is going to be your leader going into the clubhouse.
00:02:59.000 Bernie Sanders is campaigning also, like Donald Trump did in 2016, against the so-called Democratic establishment.
00:03:04.000 What's weird about this is that, by and large, what the polls show is that Democrats, like members of the base, are much happier with their own party than Republicans were back in 2016.
00:03:12.000 Back in 2016, Republicans were deeply unhappy with their own Democratic party establishment.
00:03:17.000 Democrats, by and large, are pretty happy with the Democratic establishment because the Democratic establishment has bent over backwards to make room for the Bernie Sanders and the Ilhan Omars and the Rashida Tlaibs and the AOCs.
00:03:26.000 They've done magazine covers.
00:03:28.000 Nancy Pelosi has done magazine covers with these people.
00:03:30.000 So it's very weird for Bernie to run against the so-called establishment.
00:03:33.000 He tweeted out, I've got news for the Republican establishment.
00:03:35.000 I've got news for the Democratic establishment.
00:03:37.000 They can't stop us.
00:03:38.000 Well, here is the problem.
00:03:40.000 They sort of can.
00:03:42.000 And what I mean by that is not that the Democratic establishment is going to stop Bernie.
00:03:44.000 I think Bernie has basically a clear glide path to the nomination.
00:03:47.000 At this point, I'm very doubtful that Joe Biden is able to pick up South Carolina.
00:03:52.000 Even if he does, it seems to me that Bernie has a road to the plurality of the delegates simply because Michael Bloomberg and Joe Biden would then split the vote.
00:04:00.000 So it actually doesn't clarify the picture if Biden wins in South Carolina.
00:04:03.000 If Biden wins in South Carolina, Bloomberg is still spending all this money for Super Tuesday.
00:04:07.000 And suddenly, instead of there being one moderate in the lane because Biden drops out, presumably, instead you have two moderates in that lane splitting the vote and then Bernie running right up that left side and picking up his 30 percent of the vote and winning across the board in a lot of these primaries.
00:04:22.000 So it's really not about that.
00:04:23.000 The problem for Bernie Sanders, that the numbers just don't add up when it comes to his national poll standing, which, of course, is why President Trump was congratulating crazy Bernie's It's very obvious that President Trump would love to see Bernie Sanders as the nominee.
00:04:35.000 He certainly loves the cast he's seeing inside the Democratic Party.
00:04:38.000 He tweeted out in the aftermath of the Nevada results, Looks like Crazy Bernie is doing well in the great state of Nevada.
00:04:45.000 Biden and the rest look weak and no way Mini Mike can restart his campaign after the worst debate performance in the history of presidential debates.
00:04:53.000 Congratulations, Bernie, and don't let them take it away from you.
00:04:56.000 So Trump is just itching, itching to dump a billion dollars in ads in the swing states on Bernie.
00:05:01.000 And he should be, because as we will see, Bernie provides rich fodder for attack.
00:05:05.000 With that said, be careful of what you wish for.
00:05:07.000 The monkey's paw applies in politics.
00:05:09.000 Whatever you wish for, very often it comes true and then it comes back to bite you directly on the ass as Hillary Clinton learned what she wished for Donald Trump and then got the full Trump in 2016.
00:05:17.000 We'll get back to this in just one second.
00:05:19.000 First, let's talk about safety and security.
00:05:21.000 So I am deeply worried constantly about safety and security.
00:05:25.000 Unfortunately, I tend to get a lot of death threats, but more than that, My neighborhood is becoming less safe because, hell, I live in Los Angeles, and they've decided that the best thing to do would be to hand over the neighborhood to people who are committing petty crimes.
00:05:35.000 We've seen a fairly dramatic rise in my neighborhood in breaking and entering.
00:05:39.000 Well, one of the ways that people break and enter is they ring the doorbell, they make sure you're not home, and then they proceed to break into your house.
00:05:43.000 One way you can prevent this is by having Ring devices on your home.
00:05:47.000 Ring's mission is to make a neighborhood safer.
00:05:48.000 You already know about their smart video doorbells and cameras that protect millions of people everywhere.

00:05:56.000 So if there's a package delivery or a surprise visitor, you get an alert and you're able to see, hear, and speak to them all from your phone.
00:06:02.000 I have Ring devices all around my house.

00:06:35.000 Okay, so, the Democrats are beginning to panic.
00:06:38.000 And they should be panicking.
00:06:40.000 Because the fact is, that Bernie Sanders is going to have dramatic impact down ballot.
00:06:46.000 Okay, the Democrats are realizing that down ballot, Bernie is a disaster for them.
00:06:51.000 Because Bernie is not going, the districts that Democrats won in 2018, they are all purple districts.
00:06:56.000 These are all districts that went to Mitt Romney in 2012, they went to Republicans in 2014, and these are all districts that have shifted blue, specifically out of hatred for Trump.
00:07:07.000 But if Bernie's the nominee, a lot of these suburban districts are not gonna stay Democratic for very long, which is why the Washington Post is reporting The down-ballot Democrats are already moving to distance themselves away from Sanders, according to Mike DeBonis and Michael Schur over at the Washington Post.
00:07:22.000 Former astronaut Mark Kelly, the Democratic Party's hope for flipping a U.S.
00:07:25.000 Senate seat in Arizona, tried to do no harm this month when he was asked about Senator Bernie Sanders.
00:07:29.000 He said, I'll ultimately support who the nominee is of the Democratic Party.
00:07:32.000 That was enough for Kelly's Republican rival, Senator Martha McSally of Arizona, who's trailing him in early polls, to go on the attack.
00:07:38.000 The television spot she debuted days later spent nearly as much time talking about plans by the Democratic Socialists from Vermont to raise taxes and award new benefits to undocumented immigrants as it did to Kelly.
00:07:48.000 As Sanders, a political independent, builds what could eventually be an insurmountable delegate lead, many Democratic House and Senate candidates are approaching a dramatic shift in their campaigns as they recalibrate to include praise of capitalism and distance themselves from the national party.
00:08:01.000 Top campaign strategists from both major parties view Sanders' success as a potentially tectonic event, which could narrow the party's already slim hopes of retaking the Senate majority and fuel GOP dreams of reclaiming the House, which it lost amid a Democratic romp in 2018.
00:08:14.000 Former Representative Steve Israel, Democrat of New York, who is a former longtime confidence of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he said, I can tell you there are a lot of down ballot jitters based on my conversations with my former colleagues.
00:08:24.000 He says Donald Trump is going to offer the American people this choice.
00:08:27.000 Do you want to continue building the economy or do you want to lurch toward socialism?
00:08:30.000 And that is a real powerful argument in the Democratic districts that Trump won in 2016.
00:08:36.000 And this is exactly right.
00:08:37.000 The bottom line is that there are a lot of Democrats who won in 2018 who are not AOC style Democrats.
00:08:43.000 These are Democrats who won specifically on the basis that they were moderate.
00:08:46.000 And the Democratic Party then completely ignored them and focused all of its attention on the new rising superstars from deep blue districts.
00:08:53.000 Well, it turns out that was a real stupid move because now you're going to end up with an actual socialist slash communist and actual Marxist at the top of your ticket.
00:09:01.000 And if you are running in a purple district in Indiana, you're running in a purple district in Ohio, how do you think that's going to go for you when every campaign ad is you embracing the geriatric communist?
00:09:12.000 So James Carville, who continues to be one of the only honest people in the Democratic Party, he says, listen, if you think Sanders can win, you're a sucker, because his entire basis here is that he is going to win, he's going to run, and he's going to win on the supposed basis that he has a massive new turnout plan.
00:09:29.000 Massive new turnout plans are bound for failure.
00:09:32.000 The people who show up to vote are the people who show up to vote.
00:09:33.000 The question is what you do with those people.
00:09:35.000 Here's Carville explaining why anybody who has faith in Bernie Sanders' turnout plan is fooling themselves.
00:09:39.000 The entire theory that by expanding the electorate, increasing turnouts, you can win the election is the equivalent of climate denial.
00:09:48.000 Alright?
00:09:49.000 When people say that, they're as stupid as a political scientist is, as a climate denier is to an atmospheric scientist.
00:09:55.000 So whatever you do, if you want to vote for Bernie Sanders because you feel good about his program, because you don't like the banks on Wall Street, or you don't like pharmaceuticals, that's completely legitimate.
00:10:07.000 I understand that.
00:10:08.000 If you're voting for him because you think he'll win the election, because he'll galvanize heretofore sleepy parts of the electorate, then politically you're a fool.
00:10:18.000 And this is exactly right.
00:10:19.000 The idea that you are going to drive out massive new numbers of people from a specific electorate and that's your plan, that is a failure.
00:10:26.000 Barack Obama is the only candidate in my lifetime who's been able to do this.
00:10:28.000 He did it in 2012 specifically with the black community, but he had a good basis for suggesting that he'd be able to do it because he did the exact same thing in 2008.
00:10:34.000 He also happened to win among virtually all other voters in 2008 as well.
00:10:38.000 So Barack Obama won a more narrow victory in 2012 than he did in 2008.
00:10:43.000 And even he was banking on that turnout model The turnout model ended up being right in some areas and wrong in other areas.
00:10:49.000 He actually lost votes from 2008 to 2012, but won re-election because he'd been so handily ahead.
00:10:53.000 So in Bernie, who has never come close to winning anything remotely approaching a national election, and who is running significantly behind in states like Wisconsin, said he's going to turn out new groups of young voters.
00:11:04.000 He's going to have to show exactly how he's going to do this.
00:11:06.000 It's not just James Carville.
00:11:08.000 James Clyburn Who is this very prominent congressperson from South Carolina.
00:11:13.000 Of course, he's black and he represents a lot of black voters in South Carolina.
00:11:16.000 He is coming out today and he's likely to endorse Joe Biden.
00:11:19.000 That's been the implication.
00:11:20.000 And he says, listen, Democrats are going to have a lot of trouble with the socialists at the top of the ticket.
00:11:23.000 Democrats are fretting about this.
00:11:24.000 They should be.
00:11:26.000 I do believe it'll be an extra burden for us to have to carry.
00:11:31.000 This is South Carolina, and South Carolinians are pretty leery about that title, uh, socialist.
00:11:40.000 And so I think that that would be a real burden for us in these states, or congressional districts, that we have to do well in.
00:11:49.000 And of course, Clyburn is exactly right.
00:11:51.000 This is one of the reasons why he's probably going to endorse Biden today.
00:11:54.000 Meanwhile, Mayor Pete, trying to grab that mantle of the moderate, even though he is not moderate in any way, at one of his rallies over the weekend, a nine-year-old boy got up and asked him about coming out of the closet at nine.
00:12:05.000 It's pretty pubescent.
00:12:07.000 I have serious doubts as to whether nine-year-olds really understand the full implications of coming out as gay when they are nine, considering they have not yet had the hormonal drive towards sex, presumably.
00:12:16.000 But in any case, Pete Buttigieg, who proclaims that he is a moderate, Pete Buttigieg, he says Bernie Sanders is toxic, he's gonna tear apart the party.
00:12:22.000 Of course, this is true.
00:12:24.000 I believe we need to defeat Donald Trump and turn the page on this era in our politics by establishing a tone.
00:12:31.000 of belonging, bringing an end to the viciousness and the bullying that is tearing apart our country.
00:12:38.000 We must change what it feels like to live in the United States of America.
00:12:42.000 And that is a real difference from Senator Sanders' revolution with the tenor of combat and division and polarization leading to a future where whoever wins the day, nothing changes the toxic tone of our politics.
00:12:55.000 Hey, David Leonhardt at the New York Times sort of making the same point about Bernie Sanders today.
00:12:58.000 He says Bernie is making a big mistake, not because he's on the left, but because his entire campaign is directed at alienating the center.
00:13:06.000 He says you have to understand that politics is inescapably performative.
00:13:09.000 Voters respond to signals.
00:13:10.000 They respond to gestures of respect from politicians who are willing to say, in effect, we may not agree on everything, but I see you and understand what matters to you.
00:13:16.000 The newly energetic American left, says David Leonhardt, a man of the left, has largely rejected this approach, choosing instead to believe a comforting myth about swing voters being extinct and turnout being a cure-all.
00:13:26.000 It's a big mistake.
00:13:27.000 He says, can you think of one way that Bernie Sanders is signaling respect to voters outside of his base?
00:13:31.000 He has taken a nearly maximalist liberal position on every major issue.
00:13:34.000 It's especially striking from him because he has shown over his career that he grasps the importance of building a coalition.
00:13:40.000 But Sanders has evidently decided that progressives will no longer accept impurities or even much tactical vagueness.
00:13:45.000 He, along with Elizabeth Warren, has embraced policies that are popular on the left and nowhere else.
00:13:49.000 A ban on fracking, the decriminalization of border crossings, the provision of federal health benefits to undocumented immigrants, the elimination of private health insurance.
00:13:57.000 For many progressives, says David Leonhardt, again these are members of the left who are worrying about Bernie and they should be.
00:14:01.000 And this is exactly right.
00:14:02.000 Each of these issues has become a moral litmus test.
00:14:03.000 Any restriction of immigration is considered a denial of human rights.
00:14:06.000 Any compromise on guns or health care is an acceptance of preventable deaths.
00:14:10.000 I understand the progressive arguments on these issues, says Leonhardt, but turning every compromise into an existential moral failing is not a smart way to practice politics.
00:14:17.000 It comforts the persuaded while alienating the persuadable.
00:14:21.000 And this is exactly right.
00:14:23.000 Bernie is alienating everybody in the center of the country.
00:14:27.000 He's alienating people who are on the borderline.
00:14:29.000 He's alienating people who may not like Trump's temperament, but look at Bernie and are frightened of Bernie.
00:14:33.000 If you think that Bernie Sanders in a national election, this will be a referendum on Trump and not on Bernie, I've been saying for a long time, really since 2016, whoever a presidential election is a referendum on loses.
00:14:45.000 This is true for congressional elections, too.
00:14:46.000 If the referendum on Republican rule, Republicans do badly.
00:14:48.000 This is why in off-year elections, the party in power tends to do poorly, because the party in power is the party upon whom the referendum is being performed.
00:14:56.000 Well, in 2020, the question that Democrats had to decide was whether they were going to make the election referendum on Trump or whether they were going to make the election referendum on somebody else.
00:15:06.000 In 2016, Everybody assumed that the election was going to be a referendum on Trump.
00:15:10.000 It wasn't.
00:15:10.000 It was a referendum on Hillary Clinton, and people didn't like Hillary, so nobody showed up to vote for Hillary, so Trump won.
00:15:16.000 In 2020, the assumption for years has been, okay, now we'll get the referendum on Trump.
00:15:21.000 If you run a geriatric socialist loon bag who praises communist dictators, who suggests he wants to remake the entire face of the American economy, who campaigns with vicious anti-Semites, Who do you think the referendum is going to be on?
00:15:34.000 The Democrats are making exactly the same arguments that the Jeremy Corbyn Labour Party made in Britain.
00:15:40.000 That Boris Johnson is so wild and he's so out of the box and he's so crazy that we'll have a referendum on Boris Johnson.
00:15:45.000 Then Boris Johnson just stood there and pointed at Jeremy Corbyn and won walking away.
00:15:49.000 Well, Trump's in a very similar position, and you're seeing Democrats rightly recognize this and begin to panic over it.
00:15:55.000 Some of them are whistling past the grave, of course.
00:15:57.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:15:58.000 Then we'll get to controversy engulfing Chris Matthews for noting the obvious about Bernie Sanders, but using a bad World War II analogy in doing it, which is apparently very, very bad.
00:16:06.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:16:09.000 Let's talk about the fact that cars are a lot more complicated today than when people were growing up 40, 50 years ago.
00:16:15.000 40, 50 years ago, you could just go down to the generic auto parts store.
00:16:17.000 Most of the cars were fairly similar in make.
00:16:19.000 Now, parts are really complicated.
00:16:21.000 Now, the cars themselves have really high-level technology, and this means that if you want to fix your car, you probably, in many cases, cannot go down to your local auto parts store and buy what you need and then just put it in.
00:16:31.000 Instead, you need to order the specific, correct part, and this is where the internet Is fantastic.

00:17:24.000 OK, so you do have some people who are whistling past the grave.
00:17:26.000 You're seeing Howard Dean, for example, the former head of the DNC and nut in his own right, suggesting that he's not worried about the down ballot effect for Bernie Sanders, which sure, Howard, afraid of what it might mean for the Democratic Party in terms of winning the White House in November or winning down ballot tickets.
00:17:43.000 If Bernie Sanders is a nominee, Does that concern you?
00:17:48.000 Not at all.
00:17:48.000 I'll tell you why.
00:17:50.000 He certainly is a polarizing candidate, but we have an incredibly polarizing person on the other side.
00:17:56.000 As I said before, he showed last night that he can energize our core base.
00:18:02.000 Well, I mean, if he can energize the core base, well then you would.
00:18:04.000 That's not how this works.
00:18:05.000 You know who energized the Democratic core base?
00:18:07.000 George McGovern in 1972.
00:18:08.000 Okay, so it's not enough to energize the core base.
00:18:11.000 You get Dan Pfeiffer over at Pod Save America.
00:18:13.000 Those geniuses over at Pod Save America.
00:18:15.000 Here's Dan Pfeiffer suggesting, of course Bernie can win.
00:18:17.000 Okay, let's be real.
00:18:18.000 Bernie can win because any major party candidate has about a 40% shot at winning in a deeply divided country.
00:18:24.000 Does that mean that Bernie is likely to win on the basis of his radicalism?
00:18:27.000 Probably not.
00:18:29.000 Those polls also show that Bernie Sanders is beating Donald Trump in almost every head-to-head matchup in these hypothetical general election polls.
00:18:36.000 So what it tells me is that Bernie Sanders absolutely can win this election.
00:18:40.000 He comes to it with a specific set of potential vulnerabilities, primarily around labeling a series of particularly popular policies with an unpopular label around democratic socialism.
00:18:50.000 But he can win if the party unites around him.
00:18:52.000 And we should also, we talk all about his weakness, we talk about his strengths.
00:18:55.000 OK, we should talk about his strengths.
00:18:56.000 OK, well, as we'll see, we're going to get into Bernie Sanders a little more deeply.
00:18:59.000 It's amazing.
00:19:00.000 There was one tweet today that just is it's an unbelievable tweet.
00:19:04.000 I mean, it's an incredible tweet.
00:19:06.000 It's a tweet from NBC News, and they tweeted, if Senator Sanders wins the nomination, some Democrats worry President Trump will hammer him on his long buried words in defense of governments in Nicaragua, Cuba and the USSR.
00:19:18.000 Really, are they worried about that?
00:19:19.000 And question, when you say long buried words, who buried those words, members of the media?
00:19:23.000 Who buried them?
00:19:23.000 Because as long as I've been broadcasting, I've been talking about Bernie Sanders defending Cuba, Nicaragua, and the USSR, among other socialist dictatorships, including Venezuela.
00:19:32.000 So, um, who buried them?
00:19:34.000 And why would you expect that people would not talk about the fact that the Democrats are about to nominate an out-and-out Marxist?
00:19:40.000 And Chris Matthews, who's losing his mind!
00:19:43.000 Get up in the morning, come out of the show, come out in your old wrinkle, don't even know why I'm here anymore because all I'm trying to do is tell you guys, don't drive off the cliff like Delman Louise!
00:19:51.000 And you won't stop it!
00:19:52.000 You keep trying to drop off the cliff like Delman Louise!
00:19:54.000 Does the Democratic establishment prefer Trump to Bernie?
00:19:57.000 Are you crazy?
00:19:58.000 Why would we want Trump?
00:20:00.000 Why would we want Bernie instead of Trump?
00:20:01.000 I mean, there's a crazy communist!
00:20:03.000 What's going on here?
00:20:05.000 I'm wondering whether the Democratic moderates want Bernie Sanders to be president.
00:20:09.000 I mean, that's maybe too exciting a question to raise.
00:20:12.000 They don't like Trump at all.
00:20:13.000 Do they want Bernie Sanders to take over the Democratic Party in perpetuity?
00:20:17.000 I mean, he takes it over.
00:20:19.000 He sets the direction for the future of the party.
00:20:21.000 Maybe they'd rather wait four years and put in a Democrat that they like.
00:20:24.000 Okay, that's not the comment that got Chris Matthews in trouble, though.
00:20:26.000 The comment that got Chris Matthews in trouble is that he made a sort of half-assed World War II analogy.
00:20:32.000 Right, so here's Chris Matthews explaining that, People, I started figuring out a little too late, and maybe this blitzkrieg from Bernie Sanders is unstoppable.
00:20:40.000 Maybe this is like a blitz, like, he's not a Nazi, but it's kind of like a blitzkrieg.
00:20:43.000 Here's Chris Matthews suggesting that people, catching on very late, I get out of here, come out of this shoe.
00:20:48.000 I was reading a World War II biography last night.
00:20:51.000 Watched Midway come out in here and just talk.
00:20:54.000 I was reading last night, Brian.
00:20:55.000 I know you're a history guy, too.
00:20:56.000 I'm reading last night about the fall of France in the summer of 1940.
00:21:01.000 And the general, Renault, calls up Churchill and says, it's over.
00:21:04.000 And Churchill said, how can it be?
00:21:07.000 You've got the greatest army in Europe.
00:21:08.000 How can it be over?
00:21:10.000 He said, it's over.
00:21:11.000 So I had that suppressed feeling.
00:21:13.000 I can't be as wild as Carville, but he is damn smart.
00:21:16.000 And I think he's damn right on this one.
00:21:18.000 Okay, so people are going nuts over Chris Matthews about this.
00:21:20.000 Why?
00:21:21.000 Because the implication is that Bernie's a Nazi.
00:21:23.000 Jesus!
00:21:24.000 What is wrong with you people?
00:21:25.000 Seriously, what's wrong with you people?
00:21:26.000 It's not what Matthews is saying.
00:21:28.000 Matthews is just making a very silly historical comparison to situations in which people have not recognized that something is over when it's over.
00:21:34.000 He's saying Bernie won the nomination.
00:21:36.000 So the entire left goes, Chris Matthews is an anti-Semite now!
00:21:39.000 Look at him, he's an anti-Semite because he's a— First of all, let me just explain something to you.
00:21:42.000 You stupid ass— Okay, let me explain something to you.
00:21:46.000 If you are deeply concerned about Chris Matthews making a World War II analogy about Bernie Sanders, Michael Moore made one three weeks ago in which he compared Bernie Sanders to the French Resistance, which by implication means the rest of the Democrats are Nazis.
00:21:59.000 Second of all, if you're deeply concerned about anti-Semitism, but you don't care about the fact that Bernie Sanders He campaigns with open anti-Semites.
00:22:08.000 Bernie Sanders is the Jeremy Corbyn of the United States.
00:22:11.000 He spends all his time hanging out with people who despise Jews and want to see the Jewish state destroyed.
00:22:16.000 The Bernie Sanders over the weekend suggested, he's never spoken at an AIPAC policy conference, by the way, an American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference.
00:22:23.000 He's never spoken at one, not for years, ever.
00:22:26.000 Right now when he's a presidential candidate in 2016, never.
00:22:28.000 He put out a statement suggesting that he would not speak at AIPAC, said Bernie Sanders.
00:22:34.000 Who, again, when people talk about his Jewish roots, he's so Jewish.
00:22:38.000 In terms of his actual practice, in terms of how much he cares about Judaism, not his ethnic Judaism.
00:22:42.000 Ethnic Judaism is ethnic Judaism.
00:22:43.000 It's just an ethnicity.
00:22:44.000 But in terms of his actual practical Judaism and how much he cares about Judaism, dude's as Jewish as a ham sandwich.
00:22:49.000 He's Jewish like Karl Marx was Jewish.
00:22:51.000 Okay, Bernie Sanders tweets out, the Israeli people have a right to live in peace and security.
00:22:55.000 So do the Palestinian people.
00:22:57.000 First of all, I have not seen one shred of evidence that Bernie actually believes that Jewish people in Israel have a right to live in peace and security since he has backed every single deal that would do damage to the safety and security of the people of Israel and supports giving foreign aid to Hamas.
00:23:09.000 He said, I remain concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights.
00:23:15.000 For that reason, I will not attend that conference.
00:23:17.000 As president, I will support the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians and do everything possible to bring peace and security to the region.
00:23:24.000 Bullcrap.
00:23:26.000 Bullcrap.
00:23:27.000 AIPAC is the most milquetoast organization in Israel affairs.
00:23:30.000 Like, the most milquetoast.
00:23:31.000 They have everybody.
00:23:32.000 Democrats, Republicans, Moderates, Rats.
00:23:35.000 Like, they have everybody speaks to AIPAC.
00:23:37.000 Okay, but Bernie is saying that AIPAC is too much for him.
00:23:39.000 As we'll see, Bernie is fine with anti-Semites in his own campaign.
00:23:42.000 So spare me your crocodile teeters over anti-Semitism, all you ridiculous leftists who don't give a damn when Jews are under rocket fire in Israel, and don't give a damn when Jews are being beaten on the streets of Williamsburg.
00:23:52.000 Now you're coming out of the woodwork to inform me that Chris Matthews is an anti-Semite because he made an oblique statement about people who aren't willing to accept reality in history?
00:24:01.000 People are ridiculous.
00:24:02.000 You're ridiculous.
00:24:02.000 You don't give a crap about antisemitism.
00:24:04.000 If you did, you wouldn't be nominating a guy who is more than happy to hobnob with antisemites.
00:24:07.000 Again, the man's as Jewish as Karl Marx was Jewish.
00:24:10.000 It's ridiculous.
00:24:10.000 And we're gonna get to more of Bernie the Nut in one second.
00:24:13.000 You guys should be scared of nominating this nut case.
00:24:15.000 But I guess you're gonna go for it.
00:24:16.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:24:18.000 First, Let's say you have an employee.
00:24:21.000 Let's call him, I don't know, Vishal.
00:24:23.000 And let's say he works in accounting.
00:24:24.000 Let's say he works in accounting.
00:24:26.000 Vishal.
00:24:27.000 And let's say that Vishal is really a great accountant, like he really does his job.
00:24:31.000 But one screw up, and he could really screw with like all the data in your company.

00:25:39.000 ZipRecruiter.com slash DailyWire.
00:25:41.000 Okay, so the Democrats They should be worried about Bernie.
00:25:44.000 They should be deeply worried about Bernie, because Bernie, over the weekend, he did an interview with 60 Minutes.
00:25:48.000 And during this interview with 60 Minutes, he made absolutely clear that he is a full-on, full-fledged, crazy person.
00:25:54.000 I mean, he's a crazy person!
00:25:55.000 So, Bernie was asked about Medicare for All.
00:25:57.000 He has specifically said over and over and over, he doesn't know how much it's gonna cost.
00:26:01.000 And he refuses to say how much it will cost.
00:26:02.000 Finally, he admits how much it's gonna cost, and his answer is it's gonna cost $30 trillion.
00:26:05.000 Okay, but this doesn't bother him at all, because he has no plan to pay for it.
00:26:09.000 After all, communism means never having to say you're sorry.
00:26:13.000 I mean, really, it means never having to say how you're going to pay.
00:26:15.000 It means like it's a feature, not a bug.
00:26:17.000 The fact that Bernie Sanders has no plan is a feature.
00:26:20.000 It is not a bug.
00:26:21.000 Hey, the fact that he has no plan means that his supporters get to fill in the plan with unicorn crap.
00:26:26.000 He gets to scrawl within the colored lines with unicorn crap.
00:26:30.000 That's the entire plan here.
00:26:31.000 So here's Bernie Sanders finally explaining Medicare for All will cost $30 trillion.
00:26:34.000 By the way, he is going to remove you from your health insurance.
00:26:37.000 But then magically, he's somehow going to be able, without raising taxes dramatically on every single person in the United States, just by taxing wealthy people, apparently, according to Bernie Sanders, he's going to be able to pay for expanded services and make sure you have the same doctor and make sure you have the same care, which is patent he's going to be able to pay for expanded services and And whenever he cites Denmark, there's some things you should know about the Danish medical system.
00:26:59.000 One, the tax rates in Denmark are insane.
00:27:02.000 You're paying like 45% taxes if you're making above 60 grand a year.
00:27:05.000 Second of all, you are able to buy supplemental private insurance in Denmark.
00:27:10.000 Bernie's plan does not allow for supplemental private insurance.
00:27:12.000 Third, the services that Bernie says he's going to provide are bigger than the services that Denmark provides.
00:27:17.000 Fourth, Denmark is all run locally in terms of its municipalized healthcare.
00:27:21.000 He wants a fully nationalized health insurance system.
00:27:25.000 And Bernie's a nutcase, okay?
00:27:26.000 And here's Bernie going on Medicare for All.
00:27:28.000 Do you have a price tag for all this?
00:27:29.000 We do.
00:27:30.000 I mean, you know, and the price tag is...
00:27:34.000 It will be substantially less than letting the current system go.
00:27:38.000 I think it's about 30 trillion.
00:27:39.000 That's just for Medicare for all?
00:27:40.000 Just Medicare for all, yes.
00:27:41.000 Do you have a price tag for all of these?
00:27:43.000 No, I don't.
00:27:43.000 We try to... No.
00:27:45.000 Okay, well, no, we don't.
00:27:46.000 I don't.
00:27:46.000 Are we gonna pay for this?
00:27:48.000 Who cares?
00:27:48.000 Who cares?
00:27:49.000 I'm gonna pull it out of my ass.
00:27:50.000 I'm gonna take some of the mucilin and pull the money directly from my ass.
00:27:53.000 It'll be fine.
00:27:54.000 No one cares.
00:27:55.000 Who cares?
00:27:56.000 Okay, but that wasn't Bernie's biggest ridiculousness of the night.
00:27:59.000 Then, Bernie was asked about the fact that he's an old communist.
00:28:02.000 Now, as I mentioned, he has not been shy about this, okay?
00:28:05.000 Back when he was my age, back in the 1970s, he was declaring he wanted nationalization of the banks, every major industry, the energy, like everything, everything.
00:28:13.000 He was 35 years old when he was running with the Liberty Union Party in New Hampshire.
00:28:18.000 Okay, so let's not pretend he wasn't a 17-year-old kid, he wasn't a 20-year-old, he wasn't a 25-year-old, he wasn't somebody who was getting his feet wet in politics.
00:28:25.000 He was my age, okay?
00:28:26.000 And Bernie was doing this routine back in the 70s.
00:28:29.000 So Bernie, at the time, he has never found a communist regime he can't praise.
00:28:32.000 So last night, Anderson Cooper asked him about the verboten, long-buried topic, according to NBC News, of the fact that he has supported every single communist regime he has ever come across.
00:28:42.000 Like, seriously, the man has never run across a communist regime that he can't find warm words for.
00:28:46.000 It's one thing to speak at AIPAC, the milquetoast pro-Israel organization that supports the only democracy in the Middle East.
00:28:51.000 That's very bad, right?
00:28:52.000 Bernie won't do that.
00:28:53.000 Because Israel is farabad.
00:28:55.000 Israel is racist.
00:28:56.000 But!
00:28:57.000 When it comes to Cuba, I will tell you, Cuba has some very good things about it.
00:29:01.000 So here was Bernie on national TV last night losing Florida.
00:29:05.000 We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba.
00:29:07.000 But you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad.
00:29:11.000 You know, when Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did?
00:29:15.000 He had a massive literacy program.
00:29:16.000 Is that a bad thing?
00:29:18.000 Even though Fidel Castro did it?
00:29:19.000 There's a lot of dissidents imprisoned in... That's right!
00:29:22.000 And we condemn that!
00:29:23.000 And we condemn that!
00:29:24.000 But they were reading, weren't they?
00:29:26.000 I mean, they were in prison.
00:29:27.000 Sure, they were in prison.
00:29:28.000 And sure, they were reading about how Castro was shooting their relatives.
00:29:30.000 But they could read now?
00:29:32.000 I mean, who could complain about that?
00:29:34.000 They could read.
00:29:35.000 Could they read before?
00:29:36.000 Okay, a couple of things about Bernie Sanders being a complete and total dumb.
00:29:40.000 Okay, so a few things.
00:29:41.000 One, the literacy rate in Cuba was about the same as the literacy rate in Costa Rica before Castro came along the scene.
00:29:47.000 So by best available studies, somewhere between 60 and 80% of the Cuban population could read.
00:29:51.000 And many, most of the studies put it at like 75, 76%.
00:29:53.000 That was about the same as Costa Rica.
00:29:56.000 You know what Costa Rica has now?
00:29:57.000 And you know what they had, very quickly?
00:29:59.000 100% literacy rate.
00:30:00.000 You know what Costa Rica didn't do?
00:30:01.000 Shoot its dissidents!
00:30:03.000 Like, how many people does Bernie think it's okay to shoot so long as you get 100% literacy rate?
00:30:07.000 Like, I have an easy way to establish 100% literacy, according to Bernie's logic, in any country.
00:30:11.000 You just shoot everyone who can't read.
00:30:13.000 It's great.
00:30:13.000 100% literacy rate.
00:30:15.000 Like, what a complete and ridiculous, moral, pathetically disgusting human being this is.
00:30:21.000 It's unbelievable.
00:30:22.000 I mean, he's literally sitting there making the, well, at least Mussolini made the trains run on time.
00:30:27.000 By the way, Mussolini didn't make the trains run on time.
00:30:29.000 Castro didn't make the country of Cuba literate.
00:30:32.000 This is nuts.
00:30:33.000 It's nuts.
00:30:35.000 But he did the same thing with the USSR throughout his career.
00:30:37.000 Bread lines are not bad.
00:30:38.000 Sure, you know, they may have had some gulags.
00:30:41.000 Sure, there was a five-year plan where everyone in Ukraine was killed and people were eating each other.
00:30:46.000 And, you know, in China, during the Great Leap Forward, when 40 million people died, that was kind of bad.
00:30:51.000 But let's be real about this.
00:30:52.000 China has an excellent record of poverty reduction.
00:30:55.000 And the U.S.S.R.
00:30:56.000 They have excellent bread lines.
00:30:58.000 And they have excellent cultural effects.
00:31:00.000 Excellent!
00:31:01.000 We should have exchange programs.
00:31:03.000 This is who you are nominating?
00:31:05.000 Just because you hate Trump?
00:31:07.000 You're out of your minds.
00:31:08.000 You're out of your damn minds.
00:31:10.000 The hell has gone wrong with you people?
00:31:12.000 Seriously, you hate Trump so much that you're nominating a guy who would only be comfortable in the confines of Karl Marx and Frederick Engels?
00:31:23.000 This is who you've decided to go with?
00:31:25.000 Seriously?
00:31:25.000 This is a great way to lose Florida, by the way.
00:31:27.000 Remember that time when Florida was a battleground state?
00:31:29.000 You know who lives in Florida?
00:31:30.000 A lot of people who got on 1958 Chevys And then try to float off an island to a coast of another country because they're trying to escape the regime that Bernie is praising right here.
00:31:44.000 A lot of those people live in Florida.
00:31:45.000 You know who else lives in Florida?
00:31:46.000 A lot of elderly Jews who kind of like Israel.
00:31:49.000 So, well done Democrats.
00:31:50.000 You've basically just given away Florida.
00:31:52.000 That's a genius move.
00:31:53.000 That's a genius move.
00:31:54.000 But this is Bernie all over, right?
00:31:55.000 This is what Bernie is.
00:31:57.000 Bernie is a nutcase.
00:31:58.000 He is a nut.
00:31:59.000 And you guys decided to go all in.
00:32:00.000 You married the hooker guys.
00:32:02.000 Congratulations, you couldn't have just a one-night stand, you couldn't abandon your wife, have a one-night stand in Vegas, you decided no, you're gonna go bang the hooker and then marry her.
00:32:10.000 So, you bought the ticket, you take the ride, and don't be surprised when she cleans out your wallet in the morning.
00:32:15.000 Don't be surprised when your bank account's gone the next day.
00:32:17.000 Bernie is the socialist hooker in Vegas and you married her.
00:32:19.000 Well done.
00:32:21.000 Well done.
00:32:21.000 I mean, he's saying this stuff now!
00:32:24.000 He's saying it now!
00:32:25.000 I love when people are like, his long-buried communist feelings.
00:32:30.000 Did he ever bury them?
00:32:31.000 Was there any point during his career where he buried them?
00:32:34.000 Like any?
00:32:34.000 We're gonna get to more Bernie Sanders in just a second because it's unbelievable.
00:32:39.000 It's just amazing.
00:32:40.000 It's just amazing.
00:32:41.000 You hate Trump so much that you think this.
00:32:42.000 Alright.
00:32:43.000 Alright.
00:32:43.000 Fine.
00:32:44.000 Your choice.

00:33:23.000 Come join the fun.
00:33:23.000 It's gonna be a wild year.
00:33:24.000 year.
00:33:24.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:33:28.000 Okay, so I think that it is worth noting that Bernie's policies and his heresies are not merely confined to his support of every horrible communist regime on planet Earth.
00:33:42.000 By the way, Daniel Ortega, the dictator of Nicaragua, he came out over the weekend and endorsed Bernie Sanders.
00:33:46.000 That's an exciting endorsement.
00:33:47.000 That's really good stuff.
00:33:49.000 But Sanders also announced over the weekend that undocumented immigrants, illegal immigrants to the United States are entitled to exactly the same benefits as citizens.
00:33:56.000 And he wants to open borders.
00:33:57.000 He says that he wants to decriminalize border crossings and undocumented immigrants are entitled to the same benefits as citizens.
00:34:03.000 Now, once again, I ask you, he keeps saying Denmark and Norway.
00:34:05.000 Is he aware of like basic immigration law in Denmark and Norway, which are extremely restrictive?
00:34:10.000 It is very difficult to become a citizen of Denmark or Norway.
00:34:12.000 These are places that have extremely restrictive immigration policies.
00:34:15.000 Why?
00:34:16.000 Because there are two things you can have, but not three.
00:34:18.000 OK, you cannot look.
00:34:19.000 There's actually one thing you can have a not to.
00:34:21.000 You cannot have a vast social safety net and open borders.
00:34:24.000 Those two things are mutually exclusive.
00:34:26.000 Unless you live in Bernie land where you can crap rainbows, here's Bernie explaining that we should have a completely open border and everyone who crosses illegally should get the exact same benefits as citizens who live in the country and pay taxes.
00:34:36.000 What our campaign is about and what our administration will be about is rethinking America.
00:34:43.000 Understanding that all of our people, when I say all, I also mean the undocumented in this country.
00:34:51.000 That all of our people are entitled to basic human rights.
00:34:59.000 It's just unbelievable.
00:35:01.000 He's just unbelievable.
00:35:02.000 It's like this.
00:35:04.000 This is what you've chosen.
00:35:05.000 OK, so Democrats naturally are turning and they're going, this is crazy.
00:35:08.000 But it's too late.
00:35:08.000 This is nuts.
00:35:09.000 It's too late because it turns out that you guys blew it.
00:35:11.000 It turns out that you decided to feed that alligator, hoping that he would eat you last.
00:35:15.000 And now you're left with dead Joe Biden and Michael Bloomberg, who better have the debate of his life tomorrow night, or he's toast also after blowing half a billion dollars before a vote has been taken with his name on the ballot.
00:35:26.000 So Joe Biden, after Nevada, he's been declaring a victory.
00:35:29.000 He's been saying, oh, yeah, well, I came in second.
00:35:31.000 Isn't that great?
00:35:31.000 A great accomplishment that I came in second.
00:35:33.000 So his record so far is fifth, fifth and second.
00:35:36.000 And he believes that he is going to stage a massive comeback in South Carolina.
00:35:39.000 That could happen.
00:35:40.000 Realistically speaking.
00:35:41.000 Joe Biden is still pulling top of the heap in South Carolina.
00:35:44.000 And if Joe Biden were to win South Carolina, it would certainly be a shot in the arm for his campaign.
00:35:49.000 And then we would find out whether Michael Bloomberg actually cares about the future of the party.
00:35:53.000 Because at that point, Michael Bloomberg really should toss all of his millions and billions behind Biden.
00:35:57.000 But here's Biden saying, over the weekend, we're going to go on and we're going to win South Carolina, and then nearly falling asleep at the podium while doing so.
00:36:03.000 You all did it for me.
00:36:06.000 Now we're going on to South Carolina and win, and then we're going to take this back.
00:36:10.000 Sure, sure.
00:36:12.000 Biden also pointed out that a Democratic Socialist at the top of the ticket ain't going to be a help, but everybody knows this at this point.
00:36:17.000 It isn't enough to push him forward, is it?
00:36:19.000 I think it's going to be very difficult for people in purple states to have a shot of winning.
00:36:25.000 Look, I went into 24 races, 24 states in 2018 election, and I campaigned for 65 candidates.
00:36:34.000 I don't know that any of them invited Bernie to come and campaign.
00:36:37.000 They all invited me to campaign.
00:36:38.000 I went in, we won 41 seats.
00:36:40.000 A lot of those people have endorsed me in those frontline states.
00:36:43.000 And I think you have to be able to broaden the party to be able to make sure we can keep those folks.
00:36:49.000 Of course he's right, but not that that matters.
00:36:50.000 Meanwhile, the problem for Michael Bloomberg is that he can't decide whether he wants to apologize for being there, or whether he just wants to charge forward.
00:36:56.000 So, Michael Bloomberg's campaign cut a video last week.
00:36:59.000 It was a video from the debate, and it was a video in which he says that he's the only person who ran a business, and then there were all these sort of crickets, as it showed all the other candidates on stage, who had never run a business.
00:37:08.000 So, everybody in the media went nuts.
00:37:10.000 It's a fake video.
00:37:11.000 A fake video.
00:37:11.000 It's obviously parodical.
00:37:12.000 You know it wasn't in the crowd at the debate.
00:37:14.000 Crickets.
00:37:15.000 Crickets were not in the crowd.
00:37:15.000 Right?
00:37:16.000 I hate to break it to you guys.
00:37:17.000 Crickets were not in the crowd at the debate.
00:37:20.000 It was obviously a parody video.
00:37:22.000 That didn't stop Bloomberg spokespeople over the weekend from suggesting they were out over their skis on their own campaign videos.
00:37:28.000 Stop apologizing.
00:37:29.000 If you'd like to win the nomination, perhaps you should get your head out of your butt and stop apologizing for your candidate.
00:37:34.000 It's ridiculous.
00:37:35.000 Bernie Sanders won't even apologize for having supported communist dictatorships and you guys are apologizing for a campaign video that was clearly a parody?
00:37:42.000 Ridiculous.
00:37:43.000 I think all of us have to do the right thing on social.
00:37:45.000 If you're going to battle with Donald Trump, you still have to go to battle with him honorably.
00:37:49.000 We don't want to lie.
00:37:50.000 We don't want to misrepresent.
00:37:52.000 I don't think we want to use the kind of hateful tactics he uses.
00:37:55.000 And a couple of times, I think we've gotten out over our skis.
00:37:59.000 But we pull that back internally.
00:38:00.000 I think for people to be creative and aggressive, they need some breathing room.
00:38:04.000 But we don't want them to go too far.
00:38:05.000 And in cases where we have, we've pulled it back.
00:38:07.000 Just stop apologizing.
00:38:08.000 Stop apologizing.
00:38:09.000 Meanwhile, desperate Elizabeth Warren is pushing a national poll today showing that she's running second to Bernie Sanders.
00:38:14.000 National polling, as we have found out with Joe Biden, means absolutely nothing.
00:38:17.000 It's the state polling that means something.
00:38:19.000 Elizabeth Warren is now falling into the, I'm going, she's trying to be everything to everybody.
00:38:24.000 So she tried to I appreciate the question, but you got the wrong person to ask about this.
00:38:28.000 No, I voted for you.
00:38:29.000 And I appreciate that.
00:38:30.000 I appreciate that.
00:38:30.000 Now she's trying to separate off from him and pretend that she's actually in the moderate lane after spending a year campaigning as a progressive in the race.
00:38:35.000 Here she is yesterday explaining she's not a democratic socialist after ripping off Bernie's campaign.
00:38:40.000 I appreciate the question, but you got the wrong person to ask about this.
00:38:44.000 No, I voted for you.
00:38:47.000 And I appreciate that.
00:38:48.000 I appreciate that.
00:38:49.000 But I'm not a democratic socialist.
00:38:53.000 I believe in markets.
00:38:55.000 Now, there are areas in any market economy, there are areas where markets don't work.
00:39:02.000 Education, healthcare.
00:39:04.000 And we decide collectively, we're going to manage those in a different way, and I'm all in, 100% in.
00:39:11.000 Now she's a pretend moderate again.
00:39:12.000 Also, Elizabeth Warren has decided that her mean girl persona from the last debate is going to serve her well.
00:39:17.000 So after she did that crazy debate where she was just flamethrowing everybody on stage, now she has decided that it's time to make fun of Michael Bloomberg for being short.
00:39:24.000 I'm old enough to remember when she suggested it was bad and divisive and she was tut-tutting people.
00:39:28.000 She was tut-tutting Trump.
00:39:29.000 Now she's going full Trump.
00:39:30.000 She's saying Michael Bloomberg is short.
00:39:31.000 So she's actually picked up the mini-mic thing.
00:39:33.000 I want to talk specifically for just a minute at the top about a threat that is coming our way.
00:39:41.000 And it's a big threat.
00:39:43.000 Not a tall one, but a big one.
00:39:45.000 Michael Bloomberg.
00:39:48.000 I'm old enough to remember when Elizabeth Warren would have found this very off-putting.
00:39:51.000 In fact, I'm old enough to remember last week she got a lot of hay out of suggesting that Michael Bloomberg was a vicious sexist because he had said mean things about how women look, and there she is insulting his height.
00:39:59.000 So, obviously, she's a woman of high principles, is Elizabeth Warren.
00:40:03.000 By the way, she started her own super PAC.
00:40:05.000 Or people around her started a super PAC.
00:40:06.000 She said, well, us ladies are allowed to have super PACs also.
00:40:08.000 So using the genitals to defend your super PAC in violation of promises.
00:40:12.000 Elizabeth Warren, really a principled person.
00:40:14.000 Can you see why it is that Bernie Sanders is running away with the nomination?
00:40:18.000 Part of it has to do with the insane anti-Trumpism of the left.
00:40:22.000 Part of it has to do with the fact that the other Democratic candidates are just complete and utter ridiculous sideshows.
00:40:28.000 Meanwhile, President Trump is in position to win not only re-election, but to win a heavy victory.
00:40:35.000 I went through the states last time in the 2016 election, and we talked a little bit about which states are up for grabs this time around for Donald Trump.
00:40:43.000 And the fact is that Trump could really radically expand the map if he is able to keep the economy humming.
00:40:50.000 So if you look at some of the battleground states again, New Hampshire is very close in 2016.
00:40:55.000 Trump could easily take that.
00:40:57.000 They're saying that Bernie is running ahead in Pennsylvania.
00:40:59.000 Trump hasn't hit him with a single ad so far on Bernie wanting to ban fracking.
00:41:02.000 Wisconsin.
00:41:03.000 Trump is way ahead in Wisconsin according to state polls.
00:41:05.000 In Michigan, Bernie has not been hit with any of his ridiculous policy suggestions yet.
00:41:11.000 And it turns out that a lot of people in Michigan are kind of patriotic.
00:41:14.000 Florida was very close last time.
00:41:16.000 It is not going to be close this time if Bernie is the nominee.
00:41:18.000 Minnesota is up for grabs.
00:41:20.000 Nevada is certainly up for grabs.
00:41:22.000 Maine is up for grabs.
00:41:23.000 Colorado might even be up for grabs.
00:41:25.000 So we are talking about President Trump adding maybe another 20 to 30 electoral votes.
00:41:30.000 Virginia might be up for grabs because the fact is that Bernie is so all-fired radical.
00:41:35.000 So, Trump has the real opportunity to expand the map.
00:41:38.000 Now, there are a couple of obstacles to this happening.
00:41:40.000 One, of course, is the possibility of an economic downturn.
00:41:42.000 And this is something completely unpredictable.
00:41:44.000 Today, the Dow opened by dropping nearly 1,000 points.
00:41:47.000 It dropped about 900 points because coronavirus cases outside of China were surging.
00:41:51.000 According to CNBC, stocks fell sharply on Monday as the number of coronavirus cases outside China surged, stoking fears of a prolonged global economic slowdown from the virus spreading.
00:42:00.000 The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 886 points lower, or 3.1%.
00:42:04.000 It was travel-based stocks that were taking the hardest hits, and also any sort of company that has supply chains in Hong Kong or China.
00:42:13.000 Shares of casino operators Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts dropped at least 3.5%.
00:42:17.000 Each MGM slid 4.1% as well.
00:42:22.000 Also, Dow Components Intel traded 3.4% lower.
00:42:25.000 It was a major drop.
00:42:26.000 It was actually the third biggest drop of the last three years.
00:42:29.000 Apple and its suppliers took a hit as new cases are being diagnosed because when you have these new cases being diagnosed, it means that a lot of these shops are basically shutting down and not reopening until coronavirus is contained.
00:42:41.000 So this is very bad news for President Trump if the economy were to tank.
00:42:44.000 It is also true That there could be a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy here.
00:42:47.000 Trump does need to stay ahead in the polls because if Bernie were to start gaining in the polls and start looking like a real viable frontrunner in the actual presidential race, what you would see is people divesting themselves of stocks now in anticipation of Bernie Sanders becoming president.
00:43:00.000 You'd start to see a preliminary stock market drop as Bernie Sanders got priced into the markets.
00:43:05.000 There wouldn't be a precipitous drop the day after the election.
00:43:08.000 And that stock market decline in anticipation of a possible Sanders victory could actually doom Trump preemptively.
00:43:15.000 Okay, so that's a real problem for Trump.
00:43:16.000 The other problem for President Trump is that President Trump is now being subjected to test case after test case of his own inability to stop his worst instincts from taking over.
00:43:25.000 What I mean by this is that if you are a low-level staffer in Trump's administration and you hate Trump and you want to see Trump go down, the easiest thing for you to do is to put out there a rumor that Trump doesn't like, watch him overreact, and watch the story become about the overreaction.
00:43:37.000 This seems to be what has happened with regard to Joseph Maguire.
00:43:42.000 So, according to Ellen Nakashima, Shane Harris, Josh Dowsey, and Ann Gearan, they reported back on Friday, a senior U.S.
00:43:48.000 intelligence official told lawmakers last week that Russia wants to see President Trump reelected, viewing his administration as more favorable to the Kremlin's interests, according to people who were briefed on the comments.
00:43:58.000 After learning of that analysis, which was provided to House lawmakers in a classified hearing, Trump grew angry at his acting Director of National Intelligence, Joseph Maguire, in the Oval Office, seeing Maguire and his staff as disloyal for speaking to Congress about Russia's perceived preference.
00:44:12.000 The intelligence officials' analysis and Trump's furious response ruined Maguire's chances of becoming the permanent intelligence chief.
00:44:17.000 So, the way the media want to unspool this story is that Maguire went out there and rightly told Congress that Russia wants to see Trump re-elected.
00:44:23.000 Now, what we have heard from multiple sources, including Jake Tapper reporting it, is that what the actual underlying intelligence shows is that Russia wants to interfere in the election, but you can't really draw a conclusion about which candidate they're going to support.
00:44:34.000 I mean, honestly, why would they possibly support President Trump, who has supplied deadly weaponry to Ukraine, over Bernie Sanders, Who honeymooned in the U.S.S.R.
00:44:43.000 Like, if you really believe that the Russians would prefer Trump to be president over Bernard McSanders, an actual communist, a person straight from KGB wet dreamland, then, I mean, like, Bernie Sanders is the plot of No Way Out.
00:44:57.000 And you're telling me that the Russians would like not to see him as president of the United States?
00:45:00.000 Like, it doesn't make any sense.
00:45:01.000 In fact, there was another report over the weekend that Bernie Sanders was briefed by U.S.
00:45:05.000 officials that Russia was trying to help his presidential campaign.
00:45:08.000 Which, by the way, does show you that It is kind of weird, right?
00:45:11.000 Back in 2016, there was talk that the Russians were trying to help the Trump campaign and Trump was never told about it.
00:45:16.000 Within five seconds of Bernie Sanders' campaign becoming subject of Russian interference, Bernie is told about this.
00:45:22.000 Within five seconds.
00:45:22.000 Which is the way it should have worked for the Trump campaign, no?
00:45:26.000 Okay, but President Trump's National Security Advisor came out over the weekend and he said, I didn't push out my Director of National Intelligence Chief for briefing Congress on Russian interference.
00:45:35.000 So Trump basically pushed out Joseph Maguire, replaced him with Rick Grinnell, he's a good guy.
00:45:39.000 But the story is that Trump wants to cover up Russian interference in the election that benefits him, and so he fired his own intelligence chief.
00:45:46.000 Here's the White House National Security Advisor denying this.
00:45:48.000 Joe Maguire wasn't pushed out.
00:45:50.000 Joe Maguire's term, he was serving under the Vacancy Act.
00:45:54.000 He was acting, and his term, I believe, was ending March 11th or March 12th, like two weeks from now.
00:45:58.000 Joe had a great relationship with the President.
00:46:00.000 I had a great relationship with him.
00:46:01.000 We have a lot of respect for Joe Maguire.
00:46:03.000 So the premise of your question, that he was pushed out, just isn't true.
00:46:07.000 How is Russia interfering in the 2020 election?
00:46:10.000 Well, there are these reports that they want Bernie Sanders to get elected president.
00:46:15.000 That's no surprise.
00:46:16.000 He honeymooned him to Moscow.
00:46:19.000 And of course, that's true.
00:46:20.000 But the fact is that what President Trump should have done, instead of responding by saying, Russia wants Bernie.
00:46:27.000 They don't want me.
00:46:27.000 They want Bernie.
00:46:28.000 Instead of reacting like that, he should have said, listen, whoever Russia wants is irrelevant.
00:46:31.000 We need to stop their interference in the election.
00:46:33.000 That should have been the first move.
00:46:34.000 And firing the head of your Office of National Intelligence is an unforced error.
00:46:39.000 Unfortunately, this seems to be the repeated sort of effect of being battered badly.
00:46:43.000 Listen, I understand why Trump is doing it on an emotional level.
00:46:46.000 I understand that Trump being attacked by low level people in his own administration and then stepping in it emotionally.
00:46:52.000 Right.
00:46:52.000 This is the same thing that happened with the Roger Stone case.
00:46:54.000 You had low level DOJ officials who, without the permission of the attorney general, went and recommended a sentence that was way too long for Roger Stone.
00:47:01.000 And then William Barr stepped in and said, this is not correct.
00:47:03.000 And all the DOJ officials stepped down.
00:47:05.000 That's fine.
00:47:05.000 Trump should have kept his mouth shut.
00:47:07.000 Trump can't, and so he ends up in a position where it looks as though he's doing things to defend his friends, or he's doing things to defend Russia that he actually isn't doing.
00:47:15.000 And that leads the Democrats to be able to tell these stories about how Trump is screwing with government in order to protect himself, or in order to protect election corruption.
00:47:23.000 It leads to questions like this.
00:47:25.000 Here is Chuck Todd asking Mark Short, White House official, about Russian interference.
00:47:30.000 There has not been an assertion that Russia is trying to benefit Donald Trump.
00:47:33.000 That is different than saying... But forget Donald Trump.
00:47:36.000 What I don't understand is, why isn't the president concerned about Russian interference?
00:47:39.000 Concerned, Chuck.
00:47:40.000 How about the media covering the fact that in 2018, when Donald Trump was president, we had midterm elections that went off without a hitch.
00:47:47.000 In 2016, when there was interference, it was under the Obama administration's regime.
00:47:51.000 In 2016, National Security Advisor Susan Rice told her team to stand down.
00:47:58.000 Okay, all of that's true.
00:48:00.000 Wouldn't it have been easier for the Trump administration to say, of course we're concerned about Russian interference, which is why we're targeting it, no matter who it helps?
00:48:06.000 Wouldn't that just be the easiest answer?
00:48:08.000 Instead of letting the emotion take control?
00:48:09.000 Only two things can defeat Trump in this next election, and Bernie Sanders is not one of them.
00:48:13.000 One is the economy and the other is Trump.
00:48:14.000 Those are the only two things that can defeat Trump, which is why Trump needs to control himself.
00:48:18.000 It's why Trump needs to not react to even his own staffers doing dumb things.
00:48:22.000 He needs to show some element of control.
00:48:24.000 Otherwise, he just gives the media fodder to work with.
00:48:26.000 And listen, they don't need help.
00:48:28.000 The media are going to go after him anyway.
00:48:30.000 That does not mean that you should give them the fodder with which to work.
00:48:32.000 Okay, time for a quick thing that I like and then a thing that I hate.
00:48:34.000 So, things that I like.
00:48:35.000 This kind of goes under things I like and things that I hate.
00:48:38.000 The reason that it goes under things I like is because it is fun.
00:48:41.000 The reason it sort of goes under things I hate is because it does trivialize the Holocaust.
00:48:45.000 So, the show is Hunters.
00:48:47.000 Okay, the basic premise of the show is that it's the aftermath of World War II.
00:48:50.000 It's 30 years later and there are still Nazis who are living in the United States and there's this group of elderly Jews, basically, who are tracking down these Nazis and killing them.
00:48:57.000 Now, here's the truth.
00:48:58.000 You don't actually have to make this stuff up.
00:49:00.000 In the aftermath of World War II, there's a great book called The Avengers by Rich Cohen that I highly recommend.
00:49:06.000 It's an excellent book.
00:49:07.000 All about how in the aftermath of World War II, there were Jewish survivors of the Holocaust who went through Germany tracking down old SS members and killing them.
00:49:14.000 I mean, it's an amazing, amazing story.
00:49:16.000 Like, I'd love to see that made into a movie.
00:49:17.000 But this is sort of a fantasy, comic book kind of thing.
00:49:20.000 And it makes very clear that it's a comic book kind of thing from the very early moments of it.
00:49:24.000 The reason that it's likable is because it's entertaining.
00:49:27.000 It's definitely entertaining.
00:49:28.000 The reason that it is problematic, at least in my mind, and problematic according to the Auschwitz Memorial, is because instead of just playing off of the realistic horrors of the Holocaust, it instead creates stories about the horrors of the Holocaust that are not true.
00:49:42.000 And it seems to almost Play up horrors that didn't exist in contravention of horrors that clearly did, the sort of generic horror of the Holocaust, in order to tell stories about Nazis being even more evil than they actually were, which is something you don't need to do.
00:49:55.000 In any case, it's certainly good entertainment.
00:49:59.000 The only question is whether it does a disservice.
00:50:01.000 In the same way that if you made a movie about slavery, and the movie was about people doing things to slaves that actually weren't realistic, and so it ends up being sort of A trivialization of the actual evils of slavery.
00:50:11.000 Sort of the same thing here.
00:50:13.000 But, is it worth the watch?
00:50:14.000 Yeah, it's probably worth the watch.
00:50:15.000 Here's a little bit of the preview for Hunters.
00:50:18.000 What do you say?
00:50:19.000 I want in.
00:50:19.000 Agent Morris?
00:50:23.000 I think there's Nazis living in America.
00:50:26.000 And someone out there is taking them out.
00:50:32.000 There is a right way and a wrong way to get justice.
00:50:39.000 Okay, so the entire thing is supposed to also be a meditation on revenge, and the evils of revenge, or the good of revenge, and all of this sort of stuff.
00:50:47.000 But the fact is, it's the cartooniness of this that is kind of...
00:50:53.000 Uh, you know, it is both the appeal of the show, it is also the downfall of the show, it is also the drawback of the show.
00:50:59.000 Also, it goes along with this ridiculous plot that Nazis are going to retake the American government, and it's got this sort of intersectional logic to it, where it's all of the intersectional small groups fighting against this evil white superstructure that is increasingly dominated by Nazis.
00:51:12.000 All of that has to be taken into account.
00:51:13.000 Okay, time for a quick thing that I hate.
00:51:20.000 So a quick thing that I hate.
00:51:21.000 Tom Nichols is a guy who considers himself a sort of never-Trump expert.
00:51:25.000 He wrote a book called The Death of Expertise about why people are not taking experts seriously.
00:51:29.000 I just have to point out that this is one of the dumbest tweets I've ever seen.
00:51:31.000 scenes.
00:51:31.000 Tom Nichols tweeted out over the weekend, Rhode Island's primary isn't until late, so I get to register as a Democrat to cast a protest vote in the primary against Sanders as the inevitable nominee, who I will then vote for as a protest against the incumbent.
00:51:42.000 Good job, everyone.
00:51:44.000 Good job, everyone.
00:51:47.000 I mean, aren't you an independent human being who gets to make your own decisions here?
00:51:50.000 And why would you cast a vote?
00:51:51.000 You're a never-Trumper.
00:51:53.000 So you really hate Trump so much that you think that Bernie Sanders, an overt communist, and by the way, a corrupt overt communist, because His wife was getting contracts on particular government boards while he was in... like, people have not examined Jane Sanders' rather interesting financial history.
00:52:10.000 He's gonna vote for Bernie as a protest against Trump and then call himself the savior of republicanism and conservatism?
00:52:16.000 Like, this is where people are off the train with the so-called never-Trumpers.
00:52:18.000 Okay, so, back in 2016, I was a quote never-Trumper, meaning I didn't vote for Trump in the primary, I didn't vote for Trump in the general election.
00:52:25.000 And I said, neither of these candidates meets my minimum for being president of the United States.
00:52:30.000 After the election, I became what I've called a sometimes-Trumper.
00:52:33.000 Meaning, when he does good things, that's great.
00:52:34.000 And when he does bad things, that's bad.
00:52:36.000 And now, when I look at an election between Donald Trump, a man who has done many, many good things in terms of policy, a man who has the same character flaws that I thought he had back in 2016, a man who says things that I find sometimes fantastic and sometimes reprehensible, and then I look at that compared to a person who represents the worst ideology of the last 150 years.
00:52:56.000 That's not a particularly hard call.
00:52:58.000 It is not.
00:52:58.000 I'm sorry.
00:52:59.000 Sanders versus Trump is not a hard call.
00:53:01.000 If you're protesting Donald Trump and his supposed venalities, and you're protesting Donald Trump and his excesses and his problems of temperament by voting for Bernie Sanders in a general election, let me suggest to you that you've screwed up morality so badly that you have no credibility to speak about conservatism or virtually anything else in the future when it comes to politics.
00:53:20.000 Expertise.
00:53:20.000 Expertise.
00:53:21.000 Just unbelievable ridiculousness.
00:53:23.000 Okay, we will be back here later today with two additional hours of content.
00:53:26.000 Otherwise, we will be back here tomorrow for much, much more as we prepare for the next rock'em, sock'em round of Democratic debates.
00:53:32.000 If the Democrats, by the way, don't figure this thing out and start attacking Bernie Sanders on the stage tomorrow, it's got to be all in on Bernie, right?
00:53:38.000 I mean, if they go after Bloomberg again, it just demonstrates how insane they all are in the lead up to South Carolina.
00:53:43.000 But I'm sure we will find out in short order.
00:53:45.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.

00:54:20.000 You know, some people are depressed because the American Republic is collapsing, the end of days is approaching, and the moon has turned to blood.
00:54:26.000 But on The Andrew Klavan Show, that's where the fun just gets started.
