00:01:54.000 So, let's talk about the news of the day.

00:01:57.000 So, the news of the day.

00:01:58.000 The big story that the media are aghast over, they are agog over this story.

00:02:02.000 It is just, it's a shocking, appalling story.

00:02:05.000 There are these things. 0.99

00:02:07.000 These crazy people. 0.99

00:02:08.000 They're called Christians. 1.00

00:02:09.000 And they exist en masse in the United States.

00:02:11.000 There are many of them, as it turns out.

00:02:12.000 Many, many Christians all across the United States. 0.91

00:02:16.000 They're really weird, these Christians. 1.00

00:02:17.000 They go to things called churches, which is like a big building.

00:02:19.000 It has a cross on top.

00:02:20.000 You may have driven past it.

00:02:21.000 You may have seen it once in a while.

00:02:22.000 And at these churches, they go into the church, and then they open a book.

00:02:27.000 And this book is really thick.

00:02:28.000 It has lots of words in it.

00:02:30.000 And they're associated in sentences that are called verses.

00:02:33.000 And they open this book, which I've heard is called the Bibble.

00:02:35.000 And they open it up, and then they read things in this Bibble.

00:02:38.000 And they actually believe the crazy things they read in this Bibble. 0.94

00:02:42.000 And if you are a reporter, you have never heard of these things.

00:02:44.000 Because these things are very bad.

00:02:46.000 These things are like traditional morality about sex.

00:02:48.000 Which is really bad because, as we all know, the only type of sex that is bad, the only type of sex that is bad is the one that is not physically pleasing.

00:02:56.000 All other sex is good. 0.99

00:02:58.000 But traditional Christians don't think that.

00:02:59.000 They actually think that certain types of sex are sinful.

00:03:02.000 And Christians think a lot of other weird things, too, about, like, this weird sky god and all that kind of stuff. 0.83

00:03:08.000 Well, the reason that I bring this up is that CNN reporters are now discovering that these Christians exist, and it's opened up a whole new lens on the world for them.

00:03:16.000 It's like they're walking around every day, and it's like, oh my God, they suddenly realize that half the population is vampires.

00:03:23.000 CNN reporter Kate Bennett describes herself as on the FLOTUS beat, meaning that she covers the First Lady of the United States.

00:03:29.000 She's a White House reporter for CNN.

00:03:32.000 Well, she tweeted out about a story yesterday about Karen Pence.

00:03:34.000 Now, as we all know, when we think of the face of evil, we think of Karen Pence, the wife of Mike Pence. 0.85

00:03:39.000 Clearly, a dastardly, dastardly villain. 0.73

00:03:42.000 Why?

00:03:42.000 Because Karen Pence taught at a Christian school for 12 years, and she happens to be the wife of the VP.

00:03:48.000 She's actually a very nice lady. 1.00

00:03:50.000 Her kids are delightful.

00:03:51.000 I've met her children.

00:03:52.000 I've met the vice president as well.

00:03:53.000 She's a nice lady. 1.00

00:03:54.000 But because she's a nice lady, that just shows she's even more evil. 1.00

00:03:57.000 Why?

00:03:57.000 Because now she's going back to teaching at a Christian school.

00:04:00.000 And she's teaching at this Christian school, which happens to believe things that Christians have believed for a couple of thousand years.

00:04:06.000 Which is breaking news to Kate Bennett because the world started spinning when Kate Bennett was born apparently.

00:04:10.000 So she tweeted out again, she's a CNN reporter.

00:04:12.000 So let me get this straight.

00:04:14.000 The second lady of the United States has chosen to work at a school that openly discriminates against LGBT adults and children. 0.85

00:04:21.000 What this makes it sound like is that Karen Pence is like heading on over to the local Sharia law school and there she is teaching about the evils of homosexuality. 0.99

00:04:31.000 That's not what's happening.

00:04:31.000 She's an art teacher and she's teaching at a traditional Christian school.

00:04:35.000 This Christian school is very bad though. 1.00

00:04:36.000 It's called the Emanuel Christian School.

00:04:38.000 It enrolls kindergartners through eighth graders at its campus in Springfield, Virginia.

00:04:42.000 And if you want to go to the school, You know, voluntarily, like, it's a Christian school that teaches Christian principles.

00:04:47.000 And if you're a Christian who wants to voluntarily attend this Christian school, then you have to sign an agreement that you're going to abide by Christian standards of conduct.

00:04:55.000 Now, as a religious person, as a religious Jew, we have exactly the same thing in the Jewish community, right?

00:05:00.000 I went to a Jewish day school.

00:05:01.000 The Jewish day school I went to, it wasn't just that you had to abide by particular standards of sexual morality.

00:05:06.000 Your parents also had to keep Sabbath, you had to keep kosher, right? 0.73

00:05:09.000 At any of these voluntary associations, you actually have to abide by the rules of the association.

00:05:14.000 Shockingly.

00:05:15.000 Voluntary associations, you actually have to abide by the rules of the association.

00:05:18.000 So what is so terrible?

00:05:20.000 Well, in the Articles of Employment, Which requires applicants to sign their initials next to a list of beliefs.

00:05:26.000 Emmanuel Christian defines marriage and sexual identity.

00:05:28.000 It says, I understand that the term marriage has only one meaning.

00:05:31.000 The uniting of one man and one woman.

00:05:33.000 I know, mind blown.

00:05:34.000 This is brand new stuff to folks in the media.

00:05:36.000 And it also adds that certain moral misconduct would be disqualifying for both students and teachers.

00:05:41.000 Such as heterosexual activity outside of marriage, like premarital sex, cohabitation, extramarital sex, homosexual or lesbian sexual activity, polygamy, transgender identity, any other violation of the unique roles of male and female.

00:05:54.000 And so this is very bad. 0.90

00:05:56.000 It's absurd.

00:05:56.000 It's just terrible.

00:05:57.000 Because how could the non-elected vice president's wife go and teach at a Christian school that preaches actual, like, long-lasting traditional Christian values? 1.00

00:06:09.000 It's just insane that she would actually go teach at a Christian school. 0.98

00:06:12.000 Now, this is called a Christian being a Christian and doing Christian things in their Christian life.

00:06:16.000 This is just how Christians operate in the daily world, traditional Christians.

00:06:19.000 It's how traditional Jews operate in the daily world.

00:06:21.000 By the way, it's how traditional Muslims operate in the daily world, right?

00:06:24.000 If you are a religious person of any of the three Abrahamic faiths, and you are really traditional in your religious observance, then all the things that I just listed, you also believe.

00:06:34.000 But this is really bad, according to Kate Bennett.

00:06:37.000 So she's a reporter, but she's never heard of a religious person before.

00:06:40.000 She's a White House reporter for CNN who has never heard of a Christian.

00:06:45.000 Breaking news!

00:06:46.000 Mike Pence's wife, who is a Christian, is working at a Christian school that believes in Christian principles that people can voluntarily associate with.

00:06:52.000 So, here's the question.

00:06:54.000 Who's really intolerant here?

00:06:55.000 Who's the really discriminatory person here?

00:06:57.000 Mike Pence's wife, who is joining a private school that is privately funded and not publicly funded, And engaging in voluntary association that has nothing to do with public policy, or a CNN reporter saying that Mike Pence's wife is disgracing the country by doing this.

00:07:14.000 No media bias, by the way.

00:07:15.000 This is all objective news journalisming over at CNN.

00:07:19.000 But this goes to a really difficult issue for a lot of folks on the left, and that is a lot of folks on the left actually believe that religion itself, traditional religion itself in the United States, must be quashed in order for freedom to reign.

00:07:31.000 Not just on a legal level, but on a cultural level as well.

00:07:33.000 People must be shamed for associating with traditional religious organizations. 0.96

00:07:38.000 So the New York Times, which of course was also shocked to learn about religious people, They quoted a woman named Elizabeth Shackman Hurd, a professor of politics and religion at Northwestern University.

00:07:48.000 She said that the school's requirements appeared more extreme than other religious schools, and noted that not all Christians would agree with them.

00:07:54.000 Well, no bleep, Sherlock.

00:07:55.000 I mean, of course not all Christians would agree with them, but some Christians agree with them, namely the Christians who are going to the school, and who fund the school, and who pay to go to the school. 0.70

00:08:03.000 And as far as these requirements being more extreme than other religious schools, I'd like to see some poll data on that.

00:08:09.000 I would bet you money that virtually every Catholic school in the country has extraordinarily similar requirements.

00:08:14.000 Every Orthodox school that I know of has similar requirements.

00:08:17.000 And then this professor says that Mrs. Pence's choice of employment was not surprising because the school's values appeared to mirror those of the Trump administration.

00:08:25.000 And this is where they're really going, right?

00:08:27.000 The vice president's wife, who is not elected, is teaching at a Christian school that she taught at for a dozen years before.

00:08:33.000 But now, this is a reflection on the Trump administration's evil.

00:08:37.000 So Professor Hurd says, given the exclusionary nationalism in this administration, clearly she is a clear-eyed, objective viewer of this administration, and sorts of politics taken on various things, it would not be at all surprising for the second lady to associate herself with some prominent fashion with an institution like this.

00:08:52.000 It raises important issues about education and diversity, and what kind of forward-facing public officials we want representing our country at home and abroad.

00:09:01.000 Again, the application clearly states that certain things are necessary if you want to join, which is not a problem.

00:09:08.000 But here's the thing.

00:09:09.000 What the left wants to do is shame people into not being part of churches, right?

00:09:12.000 That's really what they want.

00:09:13.000 What they want is that any time a public figure is a member of a church, unless you're Barack Obama and you go to Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years, where he preaches outright hatred of the United States, hatred of Jews, the 9-11 was the chickens coming home to roost, right?

00:09:24.000 Then, if you mention that, by the way, that you're a racist, right?

00:09:26.000 If you mention Jeremiah Wright, A pastor so close to Barack Obama that Barack Obama literally named his second book, The Audacity of Hope, after a speech called The Audacity of Hope, given by Jeremiah Wright.

00:09:37.000 If you mention that, and you say, well, maybe his ideas are linked to Jeremiah Wright and so on, they go, no, that's his private religious belief.

00:09:43.000 How dare you, sir?

00:09:45.000 How dare you?

00:09:46.000 But if you're a member of the Knights of Columbus, then Mazie Hirono of Hawaii will come after you, the senator from Hawaii.

00:09:51.000 And if you're Karen Pence, not even an elected politician serving in the federal government, and you go to a Christian School.

00:09:58.000 Or you go to a church. 0.87

00:09:59.000 Then we're going to shame the living daylights out of you.

00:10:01.000 Now, listen, I think it's fair game to criticize people's views.

00:10:04.000 You want to criticize Karen Pence's traditional religious views?

00:10:06.000 Go for it.

00:10:06.000 You want to criticize my traditional religious views?

00:10:09.000 Believe me, I've had plenty of people who have done it.

00:10:11.000 I don't mind.

00:10:11.000 That's part of the political back and forth and the religious back and forth that we go through every day in this country.

00:10:16.000 It's part of what makes the country good is that we can have these conversations.

00:10:19.000 But to shame somebody as though they've done something uniquely terrible by going and teaching at a Christian school is nothing but a cultural attempt to quash religion itself.

00:10:28.000 And that cultural attempt is not going to stay cultural.

00:10:31.000 It begins with, it is culturally bad.

00:10:34.000 It is just wrong on every level for Karen Pence to associate with a church like this.

00:10:39.000 Now what's funny is that Bennett, this reporter from CNN, then tweeted back at me, And she said, well, listen, you know, I'm really not all that upset about religious freedom.

00:10:49.000 She says, I have absolutely nothing against religious people or our freedom to practice faith.

00:10:54.000 First of all, both of those statements are lies.

00:10:55.000 Obviously, she doesn't like religious people, because if a religious person believes something she doesn't like, she doesn't like what they're doing.

00:11:01.000 And she says, she has nothing against freedom to practice faith.

00:11:05.000 She literally said that she found it appalling that somebody was practicing their religious faith, because that's exactly what she's talking about. 0.96

00:11:13.000 But then she continues, Okay, quick correction.

00:11:17.000 Karen Pence is not a representative of the country.

00:11:19.000 She's not an elected official. 1.00

00:11:21.000 I know, we play this stupid game where we assume that the spouses of elected officials are now elected officials. 0.95

00:11:25.000 I know we've been doing this since Hillary Clinton, where we pretend, oh, well, when you elect Bill, you get Hillary too. 0.95

00:11:30.000 And you know what happened when Bill kept saying that?

00:11:33.000 Hillary's approval rating dropped to 30% for a first lady. 1.00

00:11:36.000 Michelle Obama was really unpopular until she realized, wait a second, I'm not an elected official.

00:11:41.000 Maybe I should stop acting.

00:11:43.000 Like an elected official.

00:11:45.000 It really is.

00:11:46.000 It's an amazing thing.

00:11:48.000 But in any case, this idea that Karen Pence is representative of the country and therefore she's doing something deeply wrong, Great, great reporting there from CNN.

00:12:00.000 Okay, in just a second, in just a second, I want to talk a little bit about how this is not going to stay a cultural issue.

00:12:05.000 This is going to turn into a legal issue quite quickly.

00:12:06.000 First, we need to talk about your underwear.

00:12:09.000 I know, hell of a transition.

00:12:10.000 Tommy John has the most comfortable underwear For everyone on the planet, you can count on their products to be snug and neat to stay in one place.

00:12:24.000 That means there's no bunching and no riding up, which would certainly help the reporters over at CNN.

00:12:34.000 They're so confident in their underwear that if you don't love your first pair, you can get a full refund with their best pair you'll ever wear or its free guarantee.

00:13:08.000 Again, tommyjohn.com slash ben.

00:13:11.000 Go check them out.

00:13:11.000 Tommyjohn.com.

00:13:12.000 Okay, so.

00:13:14.000 What exactly is this cultural, what is this cultural rage going to turn into?

00:13:18.000 It's going to turn into a legal attempt to quash religion.

00:13:22.000 That is where this is going.

00:13:22.000 And it's already happening in New York State.

00:13:24.000 Now, the way that folks on the left like to portray their attempted crackdowns on religion is as non-discrimination law.

00:13:30.000 They have all these non-discrimination laws they've been passing across the country.

00:13:33.000 And what these non-discrimination laws say is that you're not allowed to discriminate based on, for example, sexual orientation.

00:13:40.000 Now listen, I'm not a believer that you should discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation when you're running a business.

00:13:46.000 We have gay people who work at Daily Wire.

00:13:48.000 I'm sure there are gay people who work at WABC. 0.96

00:13:50.000 We don't care. 0.98

00:13:51.000 Nobody cares.

00:13:52.000 But in my synagogue, it's a different story.

00:13:55.000 If the idea is that my synagogue has to hire people who are homosexual, Or that my synagogue has to perform same-sex marriages, or that it's going to lose its non-profit status or its tax-exempt status, then you have the state impinging on religious freedom.

00:14:07.000 And that is where all of this is going to go. 0.98

00:14:09.000 It's going to start with the schools, because the case is going to be made, and it already is being made in the state of California, the idiotic state from which I hail, it's already being made there, that if you teach your children traditional morality, you're damaging your children. 0.97

00:14:20.000 You're doing something deeply wrong by teaching your children traditional morality. 0.95

00:14:24.000 In fact, there's a guy named Angelo Corazon, who's the head of Media Matters for America, Most famous for leading boycotts nonsensically against various hosts.

00:14:32.000 He was very angry at Karen Pence.

00:14:35.000 And then he suggested that Karen Pence and Christian parents are basically indoctrinating their kids into bigotry. 1.00

00:14:40.000 This is the case that's going to be made by a lot of folks on the left.

00:14:43.000 That if you bring up your kid in traditional religious fashion, then what you're actually doing is damaging your own child.

00:14:48.000 Now, he also was very angry that we at Daily Wire had covered the story where a 10-year-old boy was being dressed in drag and then taking photographs next to naked drag queens.

00:14:56.000 He said we shouldn't have covered that.

00:14:57.000 That was really That was really impinging on the rights of the parents.

00:15:00.000 So, to get this straight, in his view, dangerous is pointing out that it's bad for parents to dress their 10-year-old boys in drag and let them take pictures next to naked men.

00:15:09.000 But what is really, really dangerous is that if you have your kid go to a Bible class. 0.95

00:15:14.000 That's really, really scary stuff.

00:15:16.000 So, how is this all going to become enshrined in law?

00:15:18.000 Well, the first step is going to be something like what New York State passed this week.

00:15:22.000 So, New York State Senate passed this week A law banning gay conversion therapy on minors.

00:15:26.000 This is the way they pitch it.

00:15:27.000 So they pitch the good parts of the law, but they don't pitch the entire law.

00:15:30.000 So the good parts of the law is when they say that they ban gay conversion therapy, this is basically a discredited, evidence-free version of you're going to turn a homosexual person straight or something by talking to them. 0.92

00:15:42.000 There's not a lot of evidence that any of that works.

00:15:44.000 With that said, in a free country, if I decide that I want to take my 13-year-old boy to see a therapist and the therapist wants to talk about the kid's sexual orientation and whether the kid might be confused about sexual orientation, I don't see why that should be illegal.

00:15:56.000 I think that's a vast overstep just from a libertarian perspective, not even from a traditionalist perspective.

00:16:01.000 But let's say that you think that that should be illegal.

00:16:04.000 That's not all the law does.

00:16:06.000 The state legally declared that being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender is not a disease, disorder, illness, deficiency, or shortcoming.

00:16:15.000 I'm not sure how you can by law declare that being transgender is not a disorder. 1.00

00:16:18.000 It is literally called gender identity disorder.

00:16:21.000 I don't know how you can do that.

00:16:22.000 But it goes even further than that.

00:16:24.000 It bans people.

00:16:24.000 We talked about this yesterday on the radio show.

00:16:28.000 It bans people who are therapists from discussing gender dysphoria with people in any honest way.

00:16:33.000 So if you have a 10-year-old kid who comes in and says, I know I'm a biological boy, but I'm actually a girl on the inside.

00:16:38.000 And you as a therapist say, well, you know, let's think this one through.

00:16:40.000 You could be guilty of violating the law in New York state.

00:16:44.000 The same agenda is going to be pressed down on these various schools.

00:16:47.000 So take this law and see how it applies to Emanuel Christian School, the school where Karen Pence is teaching.

00:16:53.000 The law prevents you from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, It also prevents you from suggesting in any way that a biological male is a biological male and a biological female is a biological female because transgenderism is just the natural state of the world.

00:17:09.000 The way this is going to be used is, number one, they will remove the tax-exempt status for all religious organizations across the country.

00:17:14.000 That is the way the left is moving.

00:17:16.000 And they will use as their sort of test case the Bob Jones University case from 1981.

00:17:20.000 So there's a very famous Supreme Court case, Bob Jones University, in which the IRS decided that they were going to remove the tax-exempt status for Bob Jones University. 0.80

00:17:28.000 Bob Jones University had a very stupid policy that banned interracial dating.

00:17:32.000 And the IRS said that's really bad, we're going to end their tax-exempt status. 0.98

00:17:36.000 Now, it may be really bad.

00:17:37.000 And maybe you need Congress to rewrite the statutes.

00:17:39.000 But the IRS didn't have the statutory authority to just say that things that are bad no longer get tax-exempt status.

00:17:45.000 But the Supreme Court ruled that because Bob Jones was discriminatory, therefore the tax-exempt status could be removed.

00:17:51.000 Once these non-discrimination bills are passed in states across the country, the next move will be to go to all these religious institutions and say to them that you must accept same-sex marriages being performed from your pulpit, you must accept Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender teachers at your religious school.

00:18:06.000 And if you don't, then you will lose not only your non-profit status, but your accreditation.

00:18:10.000 And once you lose your non-profit status and your accreditation, your kids are going to have to go to the local public school.

00:18:15.000 And if you decide to homeschool them, then we are not going to allow you to homeschool them unless you fulfill our certain basic educational requirements.

00:18:22.000 This is the direction in which the left is moving, and it is open discrimination. 0.91

00:18:25.000 And to pretend that it is not is foolish. 0.94

00:18:28.000 The people who are cramming down their values at this point are not religious theocrats. 0.96

00:18:32.000 Religious theocrats are not cramming down their values.

00:18:34.000 Mike Pence is not attempting to make homosexual activity illegal.

00:18:37.000 I can't name a Republican across the country who is.

00:18:39.000 None of them are.

00:18:40.000 Republicans across the country are not trying to imprison people who are transgender.

00:18:45.000 No one is doing this.

00:18:46.000 The people who are trying to impinge on the rights and freedoms of others are the people in the secular left world who have decided that religion itself is discriminatory and infringes freedom.

00:18:56.000 This has always been, by the way, the way that religious minorities are persecuted.

00:19:00.000 The way that religious minorities are persecuted in countries across the world is that they run up against the prevailing social order and that social order is allowed to step on the minorities that are infringing what the social order is attempting to do. 0.55

00:19:13.000 And it's widespread.

00:19:14.000 Whether that discrimination is coming from Islamic tyrannies in the Middle East or whether that discrimination is coming from European states that are attempting to crush Christianity, it does not matter. 0.94

00:19:23.000 If you're attempting to crush private religious practice that has no impact on public policy because you don't like that religious practice, you are a bigot and you are a tyrant.

00:19:31.000 And that is the direction that the modern American left is moving.

00:19:35.000 It's astonishing.

00:19:36.000 It's astonishing.

00:19:38.000 There's a reason, by the way, that Christianity around the world is suffering a huge increase in persecution.

00:19:44.000 You've seen that the Chinese government has been particularly active in trying to quash religious freedom in China because tyrannies recognize that the rebellion that exists within those tyrannical societies generally comes from religious people who believe in individual rights and families.

00:19:58.000 And thus, you have to have China cracking down.

00:20:00.000 What's been amazing is to watch Western secular companies basically be okay with that.

00:20:04.000 They're doing the work of China. 0.99

00:20:05.000 You got Google.

00:20:06.000 It's actually tailoring its apps for Chinese use without reference to the human rights violations that are taking place in China.

00:20:15.000 It's pretty amazing and pretty frightening.

00:20:17.000 And again, we should take it seriously when the left says that they don't like religion because they mean it.

00:20:22.000 They mean it.

00:20:22.000 By the way, they don't like Western civilization either.

00:20:24.000 The term Western civilization.

00:20:26.000 There's an actual op-ed in the Washington Post today by David Perry and Matthew Gabriel suggesting that the term Western civilization is itself racist.

00:20:35.000 So they say that because Steve King once used the term Western Civilization, Western Civilization, like the term, is racist.

00:20:41.000 Which means that we have to ban the term Western Civilization or at least pretend that Western Civilization no longer holds.

00:20:46.000 The truth is that a lot of the objections to Christianity and Judeo-Christian values and Western Civilization are built on a Marxist premise that America and Western civilized countries are inherently racist, sexist, bigoted, homophobic, and must be torn out by the roots.

00:20:59.000 So Christianity has to go because it's bigoted.

00:21:01.000 Even though Christianity, by the way, the Christian world is the basis for all the rights and freedoms that you enjoy today.

00:21:07.000 I don't care whether you are secular. 0.96

00:21:08.000 I don't care whether you are religious. 0.96

00:21:10.000 We live in a world defined by the Judeo-Christian ethic.

00:21:14.000 That's what made the West different from every other place on planet Earth.

00:21:17.000 And to pretend that that ethic was completely thrown out with the Enlightenment, that what the Enlightenment was about was saying, churches are wrong.

00:21:23.000 We're just not going to do church anymore.

00:21:24.000 That is to ignore the fact that virtually every value that we hold dear is rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition.

00:21:31.000 The most important sentence ever written in the history of humanity is that man is made in God's image.

00:21:34.000 It is the beginning and end point of virtually all moral arguments.

00:21:38.000 That is an argument that is made by the Judeo-Christian religion.

00:21:41.000 The argument for personal liberty, that you have inherent rights.

00:21:44.000 The argument that virtue matters, so that we can have freedom.

00:21:47.000 All of this arises in a Western civilization defined by these values.

00:21:50.000 So, if you wanted to do away with those values, if you wanted the collective to be more important than the individual, the best way to do it would be to attack Christianity and Judaism at their roots. 0.93

00:21:59.000 Would be to attack religion and tear those away. 0.99

00:22:02.000 And again, the ironic part of this is that this is the least threatening time for theocracy in world history, at least from the Judeo-Christian side. 0.52

00:22:10.000 We're being treated as though Karen Pence is the true threat to liberty.

00:22:12.000 Karen Pence! 1.00

00:22:14.000 Not the Democrats who are attempting to stop judges from being appointed to the bench based on their membership in the Knights of Columbus.

00:22:20.000 Okay, in just a second, I want to talk a little bit about the latest from Rudy Giuliani.

00:22:24.000 But first, I need to talk to you about the watch that you're wearing.

00:22:27.000 You see that thing on your wrist?

00:22:28.000 It's ugly.

00:22:29.000 I don't know why you're wearing it. 0.95

00:22:30.000 You shouldn't be wearing it.

00:22:30.000 What you should be wearing is a movement watch, because movement watches are great.

00:22:34.000 You see the sleek, elegant thing on my wrist?

00:22:36.000 You see this?

00:22:37.000 It's magnificent.

00:22:38.000 Okay, that is a movement watch.

00:22:40.000 Movement is a ground-up entrepreneurial company, a true success story.

00:22:43.000 They have sold legitimately hundreds of thousands of watches.

00:22:46.000 There's a reason I have a Movement watch.

00:22:47.000 My wife has one.

00:22:49.000 Both my parents have one.

00:22:49.000 They make great gifts.

00:22:50.000 And what's great is that they cut out the middleman.

00:22:52.000 These aren't watches that are, by the way, going to tell you how many steps you take or how many calories you burn.

00:22:56.000 These are watches that are going to tell you the time, and they're going to do it in an elegant, sleek fashion.

00:23:01.000 These watches start at like $95.

00:23:02.000 You're looking at $400 for the same quality from a traditional brand.

00:23:05.000 Because they cut out the middleman, they were able to sell it cheaper online.

00:23:09.000 MVMT has sold almost 2 million watches in over 160 countries.

00:23:12.000 And right now, you get 15% off today with free shipping and free returns just by going to MVMT.com slash Shapiro.

00:23:29.000 MVMT.com slash Shapiro.

00:23:31.000 Once again, MVMT.com slash Shapiro.

00:23:34.000 Okay, so, meanwhile, in more political news...

00:23:38.000 Rudy Giuliani made a bit of a boo-boo today.

00:23:40.000 So the president's lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, has the hardest job in America.

00:23:44.000 The two hardest jobs in America are being the person who cleans up after pop stars at hotels and being Donald Trump's lawyer.

00:23:55.000 That is a rough job.

00:23:56.000 As a lawyer, there are certain clients that you just dread, and Donald Trump is that client.

00:24:00.000 Because the first rule of lawyering is you tell your client to shut up.

00:24:02.000 That legitimately is like the first, no matter what the situation, the first rule of lawyering is cut off all communications between you and the other side.

00:24:09.000 I don't care whether we're talking transactional law or criminal law, but particularly when you are in the midst of a massive counterintelligence slash criminal investigation into Russian collusion.

00:24:18.000 First rule, tell your client to shut up. 1.00

00:24:21.000 Second rule, your client actually has to tell you the truth so that you can Form a legal strategy around it. 1.00

00:24:26.000 Third rule is don't say stupid stuff on TV. 0.99

00:24:28.000 All three of these rules are routinely violated by President Trump's legal team. 0.98

00:24:32.000 So Rudy Giuliani was on CNN yesterday with Chris Cuomo, a physical block of wood, and he was explaining to Chris Cuomo that President Trump personally did not collude with Russia, but maybe somebody did, which is like, dude.

00:24:47.000 Dude, like, what now?

00:24:50.000 There are those of us who've been saying no evidence of collusion for a long time.

00:24:53.000 You're kind of switching the story on us a little bit.

00:24:55.000 Here's what Rudy Giuliani had to say.

00:24:57.000 Never said there was no collusion between the campaign or between people in the campaign.

00:25:01.000 Yes, you have.

00:25:03.000 I have not.

00:25:03.000 I said the President of the United States.

00:25:05.000 There is not a single bit of evidence the President of the United States committed the only crime you could commit here, conspired with the Russians to hack the DNC.

00:25:12.000 He said he didn't.

00:25:14.000 He didn't say nobody.

00:25:15.000 How would you know that nobody in your campaign... He actually did say that, Rudy.

00:25:19.000 He said nobody, and then he said as far as I know.

00:25:21.000 And if he said that, he said it in a... Well, as far as he knows, that's true! 0.99

00:25:24.000 Now, there's part of what Rudy's saying that's probably true and part of what he's saying that is certainly false.

00:25:30.000 The part that he's saying that's certainly false is when he says that Trump didn't say that nobody colluded with the Russians.

00:25:35.000 No, Trump actually has said that.

00:25:36.000 Like, Trump actually has said, my campaign did not collude with the Russians.

00:25:38.000 Nobody colluded with — like, collusion wasn't a thing.

00:25:41.000 So that's — but at this point, are we, like, surprised that Trump didn't tell the truth about that kind of thing?

00:25:46.000 That he overstated his case?

00:25:47.000 This is a guy who said he didn't sleep with Stormy Daniels.

00:25:51.000 I'm sorry, the President of the United States does not make good legal defenses of himself because he just says whatever comes into his head at any given moment.

00:25:59.000 But the part where Rudy has a defensible truth—it's ugly, but it's defensible—is, I think, the case he's going to make.

00:26:06.000 And this sort of looks forward to the Mueller report.

00:26:08.000 The case that he's probably going to make is that the President of the United States Didn't personally know about anything.

00:26:15.000 The people in his campaign who were doing bad stuff were acting outside the scope of agency.

00:26:18.000 In other words, they were just kind of acting out on their own.

00:26:21.000 So Manafort was freelancing when he was talking with the Russians?

00:26:24.000 Maybe that's the case.

00:26:26.000 But, dude, don't spill that on national TV.

00:26:29.000 Not the way to do it.

00:26:30.000 So even as Rudy Giuliani stumbles out the gate when talking about the Mueller investigation, the good news is for the Republicans that the Democrats are not doing themselves any favor.

00:26:38.000 Beto O'Rourke Today, I will say the Democrats have been totally taken over by the social media wing of their party.

00:26:44.000 Now, as a big user of social media, I'm fond of social media, but social media isn't necessarily the best way to weed out deep thinkers.

00:26:51.000 There's a reason that Alexander Ocasio-Cortez is about to teach, I kid you not, a session to older lawmakers on how to tweet.

00:26:59.000 This is according to USA Today.

00:27:01.000 The House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee is hosting a session Thursday morning with Ocasio-Cortez on the most effective ways to engage constituents on Twitter and the importance of digital storytelling.

00:27:12.000 Rule number one, be a pretty young woman. 1.00

00:27:14.000 I mean, and then when, if you can't fulfill rule number one, then you're basically, you're screwed at that point. 0.87

00:27:19.000 I mean, if you're a Democrat and you are 70 years old, you're not gonna get good at social media anytime soon.

00:27:24.000 What's made her popular on social media is the fact that she is likable on social media, she is sassy on social media, and of course she's pretty. 0.97

00:27:30.000 So that does make a difference.

00:27:32.000 But she is teaching Democrats the most important things in life, how to be good on social media.

00:27:36.000 Beto O'Rourke, meanwhile, is running for president.

00:27:39.000 He's polling number two in a lot of these polls.

00:27:41.000 It's showing Biden and then Beto O'Rourke.

00:27:43.000 And Biden seems to be dropping by the day because he's old and boring.

00:27:46.000 Beto O'Rourke is the hot new thing because he rides a skateboard and because he has like a big, he has bangs on his face and he just kind of flicks his hair back because he's cool.

00:27:56.000 So he has a piece today in Medium.com.

00:28:00.000 I love that this guy's one of the front runners.

00:28:01.000 I love it so much.

00:28:02.000 Bob O'Rourke.

00:28:03.000 So he's got a, he's got a piece in Medium talking about his travels.

00:28:07.000 And he is essentially skater boy Jack Kerouac.

00:28:11.000 That's what he's going for here.

00:28:12.000 I'm going to read some of this to you because it is worthy of note.

00:28:15.000 I mean, it isn't really, but the fact that he wrote it makes it worthy of note.

00:28:18.000 Here's what he writes.

00:28:19.000 He writes, A lot of big trucks rolling down Pancake Boulevard and there aren't any sidewalks.

00:28:25.000 Gloomy early morning sky in liberal Kansas.

00:28:28.000 Snow melt on the side of the road where I'm running.

00:28:31.000 I find a vacant lot to cut through to another street, also busy and without sidewalks.

00:28:36.000 I was in Tucumcari yesterday, trying to learn more about the town that my great-grandparents lived in more than a hundred years ago.

00:28:43.000 I stayed at the Motel Safari, one of these classic Route 66 motels, mid-century everything.

00:28:48.000 Take a break.

00:28:49.000 Come back stronger.

00:28:51.000 I'm not kidding you.

00:28:53.000 This is a presidential candidate who wrote these things.

00:28:55.000 And he is being treated by the media as like, wow, what depth, what thoughts emerged from the massive brains?

00:29:02.000 Christian, simple-minded, Beta O'Rourke, super deep.

00:29:05.000 The best part is when he starts talking about his own personal attitude.

00:29:09.000 He says, The next morning I ran, just a couple of miles, down 66th and through neighborhoods, past the History Museum.

00:29:15.000 My leg has been really bothering me since the campaign, and so I had stopped running for a while.

00:29:19.000 This was my first run in more than a month.

00:29:21.000 Felt good, running in new shoes.

00:29:24.000 Have been stuck lately, in and out of a funk.

00:29:27.000 My last day of work was January 2nd.

00:29:29.000 It's been more than 20 years since I was last not working.

00:29:33.000 Maybe if I get moving on the road, meet people, learn about what's going on where they live, have some adventure, go where I don't know and I'm not known, it'll clear my head.

00:29:43.000 Reset.

00:29:44.000 I'll think new thoughts, break out of loops I've been stuck in.

00:29:47.000 He's like 17.

00:29:49.000 Honest to God, he's like going on a European backpacking trip.

00:29:52.000 It's amazing.

00:29:53.000 He sounds like Timothy Treadwell right before he got eaten by bears in Grizzly Man.

00:29:57.000 I'm gonna go up to Alaska, live in a bus, talk to the bears, find myself.

00:30:02.000 If my kidneys are clawed out of me, well, that's just the way it goes, man.

00:30:05.000 That's the price of adventure.

00:30:07.000 And then he talks about all the people he meets.

00:30:08.000 This thing is thousands of words long.

00:30:11.000 Thousands.

00:30:12.000 Because he just has this kind of genius to convey to you.

00:30:16.000 It's amazing.

00:30:18.000 I'm scrolling.

00:30:18.000 I'm still scrolling.

00:30:19.000 I'm still scrolling.

00:30:21.000 And he finally concludes, By saying, a young woman asked, how do I make a difference in any of this?

00:30:26.000 I said, run for office.

00:30:28.000 Hold town hall meetings.

00:30:29.000 Bring people together over coffee, over beer.

00:30:32.000 Ask your elected reps to show up and be part of the conversation.

00:30:35.000 If they don't, organize to get their attention.

00:30:37.000 But whatever we do, let's do it together.

00:30:42.000 The platitude primary continues apace.

00:30:45.000 Really astonishing stuff from Beto O'Rourke.

00:30:48.000 I mean, when he's not, when he's not actually taping his, when he's not busy taping his dental appointments, apparently he is busy running around and writing about his experiences in Texas.

00:31:00.000 He must have been the worst in high school, right?

00:32:46.000 Thanks so much for all your help.

00:32:47.000 I hope we are the largest, fastest-growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.

00:32:50.000 All righty, so it's not just Beto O'Rourke who is being given the king's treatment by the media.

00:33:01.000 It's also Kamala Harris, who is really, I find her radically unlikable. 0.65

00:33:06.000 I know, I'm not supposed to say that.

00:33:07.000 It is super sexist.

00:33:08.000 If you say that a woman is unlikable, it is pretty much the most sexist thing you can say about a woman, is that she is unlikable. 0.96

00:33:13.000 Like that time that Barack Obama said that Hillary Clinton was unlikable, that was super sexist. 0.90

00:33:17.000 Well, Kamala Harris I don't find particularly likable, but the media are trying super hard to sell her. 1.00

00:33:22.000 Like really hard.

00:33:22.000 By the way, I always find it weird when people say unlikable.

00:33:25.000 Sexist term.

00:33:26.000 Have you ever met Ted Cruz?

00:33:28.000 Like, really.

00:33:28.000 Like, I know Senator Cruz.

00:33:30.000 I like Senator Cruz.

00:33:32.000 He doesn't come off great on camera.

00:33:33.000 There's a certain likability factor that just matters in politics.

00:33:37.000 In any case, ABC News has an entire piece today on her.

00:33:40.000 It's ABC News, really journalism-ing everywhere.

00:33:43.000 And it's incredible.

00:33:45.000 It's from Good Morning America.

00:33:46.000 Listen to this headline.

00:33:47.000 This is a news headline.

00:33:48.000 This is not a Teen Beat headline.

00:33:51.000 Celebrities, they're just like us, headline.

00:33:52.000 Here's the actual headline.

00:33:53.000 Potential 2020 presidential candidate Kamala Harris shares advice for young women.

00:33:58.000 Don't let anybody tell you who you are.

00:34:00.000 You tell them who you are.

00:34:03.000 That's a headline, a news headline.

00:34:06.000 I know, it's been a real problem for me is when I walk up to people and I just say, Bob.

00:34:10.000 And the guy's like, no, I'm Jim.

00:34:11.000 I'm like, no, I'm gonna tell you who you are.

00:34:12.000 You're Bob.

00:34:13.000 That's been a real problem.

00:34:15.000 In fact, I actually do this every day when I go to the coffee shop.

00:34:18.000 I don't let them tell me who I am.

00:34:20.000 I tell them who I am so that they can write it on the cup and then I can get my coffee.

00:34:24.000 She is just the most platitudinous politician in the world. 1.00

00:34:26.000 My favorite quote from this interview that ABC News is touting is, quote, If it's worth fighting for, then it's a fight worth having.

00:34:34.000 Okay?

00:34:35.000 Okay?

00:34:37.000 If the sky is blue, then it is also blue.

00:34:41.000 And then she, like, it's just a list.

00:34:43.000 I actually listed it out on my Twitter feed this morning.

00:34:45.000 She dropped no less than 13 platitudes in the course of an interview.

00:34:49.000 Every sentence she said was a platitude.

00:34:51.000 Every single one.

00:34:53.000 She actually says things like, she's asked for advice.

00:34:55.000 Here's a piece of advice for young women.

00:34:56.000 You ready for this?

00:34:57.000 This is groundbreaking.

00:34:58.000 This is the kind of stuff that ought to make you president.

00:35:00.000 This is groundbreaking advice for young women according to Good Morning America.

00:35:03.000 Quote, surround yourself with really good friends.

00:35:07.000 Groundbreaking advice from the front-running presidential candidate, Kamala Harris.

00:35:11.000 She says, it's really important because none of us have achieved the success we have without really good friends.

00:35:17.000 Mind-blown.

00:35:19.000 I don't know what to say about that.

00:35:21.000 It's just, the genius rolls off in waves.

00:35:24.000 Pretty amazing.

00:35:25.000 Okay, I want to give you a quick update on the Steve King story because I want to get to the State of the Union stuff in a second, but the Steve King story is pretty telling.

00:35:35.000 This is an update.

00:35:36.000 The Steve King story, as you all know, Representative Steve King from Iowa, he was asked, he actually asked in a New York Times interview how the terms white nationalist and white supremacist became offensive, according to the New York Times.

00:35:49.000 And a bunch of Republicans and Democrats looked to censor Steve King.

00:35:52.000 A bunch of them looked to censure him for his racial comments.

00:35:55.000 So what did Democrats do?

00:35:57.000 Did they vote for the censure?

00:35:58.000 They run the House, after all, so why didn't they just vote for the censure?

00:36:00.000 Instead, House Democratic leaders blocked an effort to censure Steve King for racial comments.

00:36:05.000 They referred the measure to the House Ethics Committee for further review.

00:36:09.000 Why would they do such a thing?

00:36:10.000 Don't they hate racist comments?

00:36:12.000 Well, it turns out what they are afraid of is that if they censure Steve King, they are also going to have to start censuring their members of their own caucus for saying racist stuff.

00:36:20.000 Really, I'm not saying this.

00:36:21.000 They are saying this.

00:36:22.000 Jim Clyburn admitted as much.

00:36:24.000 Clyburn, who's the House Majority Whip, he noted that King made his statements to the news media, not during House proceedings.

00:36:29.000 He said, I don't know it's a good thing for us to talk about censure for things that are done outside the business of the House of Representatives.

00:36:36.000 He said we should be very, very careful about doing anything that constrains or seems to constrain speech.

00:36:40.000 I know.

00:36:40.000 Democrats are deeply concerned about doing anything that might constrain speech.

00:36:44.000 It's one of their chief concerns in life, which is why they promote hate speech laws and why they talk about microaggressions and intersectionality endlessly.

00:36:53.000 And then Bobby Rush ripped into, ripped into Clyburn.

00:36:57.000 He said that Clyburn's disapproval resolution was almost meaningless.

00:36:59.000 But Clyburn says, listen, here's the problem.

00:37:02.000 If we censure Steve King, how many of you have been saying nice things about Louis Farrakhan for years?

00:37:06.000 How many of you have been saying bad things about Jews?

00:37:08.000 Like today, Representative Ilhan Omar, who's an anti-Semite, went on CNN. 0.77

00:37:12.000 And not only did she double down on her anti-Semitism, she also suggested in an open national interview, she became the second Democratic representative to do this in the last day, that Lindsey Graham was being blackmailed by President Trump because Lindsey Graham is gay. 0.59

00:37:26.000 She said that in an interview on CNN.

00:37:27.000 Then when she was asked about it, she said, many people are saying.

00:37:30.000 Now, I'm old enough to remember when many people are saying was used as a way to club President Trump.

00:37:35.000 This is what Trump does all the time, right?

00:37:36.000 Trump says something that's unsupported or unsupportable.

00:37:39.000 And then when asked if that's true, he goes, many people are saying.

00:37:42.000 It's what many people say.

00:37:44.000 And people are like, well, who are these people?

00:37:46.000 Are they you?

00:37:48.000 But Democrats are now allowed to do this.

00:37:50.000 But what Clyburn is afraid of is that he might actually have to censure his own members because they say crazy stuff too.

00:37:57.000 Turns out that when you have a group of 435 people, there are a bunch of people who say crazy stuff in there.

00:38:02.000 But I love the cynicism of Democrats so angry at Steve King that they will not censure him because they might have to censure members of their own caucus for being terrible.

00:38:12.000 But at the same time, we are told by people like Nicole Wallace at MSNBC that really the racism problem only exists on the Republican side of the aisle.

00:38:19.000 The Democrats are clean as the driven snow.

00:38:21.000 They have nothing to worry about.

00:38:22.000 Even the Democrats think the Democrats have something to worry about.

00:38:25.000 Even the Democrats think that they might have to censure their own members.

00:38:29.000 Really is amazing stuff.

00:38:30.000 Okay, well, latest on the government shutdown, it continues, of course, and this means that the Democrats now have an excuse to cancel the State of the Union Address.

00:38:38.000 As I pointed out yesterday, I could not be happier with this, frankly.

00:38:41.000 Like, I am so excited I don't have to cover the State of the Union Address.

00:38:44.000 I can barely speak about it.

00:38:45.000 It makes me so happy.

00:38:47.000 I hate the State of the Union Address with a deep, abiding passion because it is monarchic.

00:38:52.000 It is just terrible.

00:38:54.000 You have the president walk in as though he's the crown prince of England.

00:38:58.000 And then everybody pats him on the back and they take selfies with him, and then they'll stand and cheer, oh, you're the president.

00:39:03.000 Okay, when the Constitution was written, it was the legislature that was supposed to be the predominant branch of government, not the executive.

00:39:08.000 Yet we treat the executive as though it is the predominant branch of government, and the State of the Union was made into a giant speech by Woodrow Wilson because Woodrow Wilson was, in fact, a quasi-fascist who liked that sort of spectacle.

00:39:19.000 Okay, well, if we get rid of the State of the Union, I'm gonna be super happy.

00:39:22.000 I think President Trump should just do it directly from the border.

00:39:26.000 But the Democrats, the real reason they don't want to do the State of the Union, it's amazing how they even lie about this.

00:39:41.000 The real reason they don't want to do the State of the Union has nothing to do with inability to do it.

00:39:46.000 It's because they don't want the imagery of President Trump lecturing them about keeping the government shut.

00:39:51.000 So Nancy Pelosi just lied about it yesterday. 0.99

00:39:53.000 The Speaker of the House, she said, The reason that we can't do the State of the Union is because it won't be safe.

00:39:59.000 Here's the Speaker of the House explaining that one yesterday.

00:40:02.000 That isn't the point.

00:40:02.000 The point is security.

00:40:04.000 And I, having been in the leadership a long time, have been, maybe before you were all here, where they have, we have so prepared in advance for something happening in that chamber.

00:40:16.000 This is a very big deal.

00:40:17.000 It is a special security event.

00:40:20.000 Okay, so she says that it's because of security.

00:40:22.000 That is absolutely false.

00:40:23.000 The Department of Homeland Security head, Nilsson, she says, of course we can support the State of the Union.

00:40:28.000 Of course we can.

00:40:29.000 Like, you think we don't have security?

00:40:32.000 Like, at the Congress now?

00:40:34.000 She tweeted out, this is Christian Nilsson, she tweeted out, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S.

00:40:38.000 Secret Service are fully prepared to support and secure the State of the Union.

00:40:41.000 We thank the service for their mission focus and dedication and for all they do each day to secure our homeland.

00:40:46.000 It's obviously an excuse.

00:40:48.000 It's obviously an excuse so that Nancy Pelosi does not have to sit there while Trump points to angel moms in the crowd and says, why don't you defend this angel mom? 1.00

00:40:56.000 Why don't you defend this wounded person?

00:40:58.000 Why don't you defend this victim of illegal immigration?

00:41:00.000 They're attempting to avoid the consequences of their own position on the government shutdown.

00:41:05.000 It is indicative of how people in the Democratic Party treat national security and security issues generally.

00:41:11.000 So what they say is that there doesn't need to be a wall.

00:41:13.000 Border Patrol is saying, yeah, guys, there does.

00:41:16.000 And then they're like, well, you know what?

00:41:17.000 Homeland Security probably can't do the State of the Union.

00:41:19.000 And Homeland Security's like, no, actually, we kind of can.

00:41:22.000 And they say things like, well, the military doesn't need X, Y, and Z. And members of the military say, well, no, actually, we could probably use those things.

00:41:29.000 And then they expect us to believe that they take security seriously? 0.95

00:41:32.000 It's ridiculous. 0.99

00:41:33.000 It's ridiculous. 0.94

00:41:34.000 The real reason that Pelosi is not doing the State of the Union is because she doesn't want to be humiliated on a public stage, which is the same reason why she's refusing to meet with the Angel Moms. 0.99

00:41:43.000 Yesterday, a bunch of Angel Moms went to Nancy Pelosi's office, and she refused to come out or speak with them because, why would she? 0.98

00:41:49.000 I mean, she understands how optics work.

00:41:51.000 You care about your fellow Americans more than you care about illegal aliens crossing our borders. 0.97

00:41:56.000 Right.

00:41:56.000 These children have dreams.

00:41:59.000 Every one of these kids had a dream, and they've been crushed.

00:42:02.000 Your actions still matter.

00:42:06.000 My son's life is worth more than $1, and that's an insult to all of us.

00:42:12.000 Okay, there's a reason Nancy Pelosi doesn't want to show up, because obviously she understands how optics works. 1.00

00:42:16.000 And I will point out, the amount of media coverage for the angel moms who went to Nancy Pelosi's office was not nearly the amount of media coverage for the four Democratic Congress people who went in search for Mitch McConnell yesterday.

00:42:25.000 So there were four Democratic Congress people, they went to Mitch McConnell's office, and they showed up and they're like, where's Mitch McConnell?

00:42:31.000 Where's Mitch McConnell?

00:42:32.000 First of all, Mitch McConnell is trying to work out his next cocaine shipment, right?

00:42:36.000 He's cocaine Mitch.

00:42:36.000 We know what he's doing with his off hours.

00:42:38.000 But second of all, Why would he come out and meet with, like, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez?

00:42:42.000 First, if I were Mitch McConnell, I would, but that's because I'm confrontational.

00:42:46.000 I think it would just be great for Mitch McConnell to walk out and just being all laconic and have her shout in his face. 0.82

00:42:51.000 It would just be great, because that's how that dynamic would go.

00:42:54.000 She'd get very upset.

00:42:55.000 She'd start yelling at him.

00:42:56.000 Ilhan Omar would start yelling at him, and he would just stand there and take it, and it would be really amusing.

00:43:01.000 He'd just be like, well, you guys could just fund the border, you know.

00:43:04.000 And in his turtle voice, and it would be great.

00:43:06.000 Like, I actually think that more confrontation with Democrats on this issue is necessary, but McConnell is not famous for being confrontational.

00:43:13.000 With that said, the State of the Union excuses that are being made right now are obviously horrendous excuses and do not reflect reality in any serious way.

00:43:21.000 It's just another way for Democrats to try and get out of this.

00:43:24.000 And this is the benefit of being able to run on the media's love.

00:43:28.000 The polls show right now that the media, that basically most Americans think that Congress is doing a bad job, think Obama, think that Trump is doing a bad job.

00:43:38.000 That plurality of Americans, a slight minority of Americans rather, are in support of the wall and that Trump's approval ratings are really low.

00:43:45.000 So all Democrats have to do is stay out of the limelight and just keep shouting Trump.

00:43:49.000 What Trump has to do is shift the narrative that's very difficult to do in the face of a Democratic Party overwhelmingly united by their hatred of him.

00:43:56.000 What was so terrible about border fencing six years ago?

00:43:57.000 Nothing.

00:43:58.000 What's so terrible about border fencing now?

00:44:00.000 Trump's the president.

00:44:01.000 So that's what's terrible inherently about border fencing, which is the reason that they keep doing this routine.

00:44:07.000 It's really amazing.

00:44:08.000 I do love the pitch that Democrats are making as to why the government shutdown is bad, though.

00:44:12.000 That I will say I find amusing.

00:44:13.000 So on the one side, you have Trump saying, we need border security so that we can ensure that people don't get killed.

00:44:19.000 And on the other side, Bernie Sanders legitimately, legitimately went outside the EPA.

00:44:24.000 He stood outside the EPA and he said, we need the government shut down to end because of climate change.

00:44:30.000 Like, of all the government services that are urgent to provide, the EPA administrators are the ones, they're not even the ones doing the climate change research, they're the regulators.

00:44:39.000 Like, if they're gone for a week, nobody notices.

00:44:41.000 In fact, if they're gone forever, nobody's going to notice, except they'll be able to actually build things on their own property.

00:44:46.000 But Bernie thinks that that's the real priority.

00:44:47.000 The difference in priorities is what Democrats are deeply afraid of, it's what President Trump has to keep hammering, and it's what the media will refuse to cover.

00:44:55.000 So that's the real reason why Democrats are trying to run away desperately from the State of the Union address.

00:45:00.000 They don't actually want Trump to have a public opportunity to show them up.

00:45:03.000 Okay, time for a couple of things I like, and then we'll do some things that I hate.

00:45:08.000 Things I like today.

00:45:09.000 This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Sopranos.

00:45:12.000 So I will admit that the first time around, I was a little too young to watch The Sopranos.

00:45:15.000 So I've been re-watching it.

00:45:16.000 And it is obviously really R-rated.

00:45:19.000 It's a very R-rated show.

00:45:20.000 But it is also a terrific show.

00:45:22.000 I mean, the way that it is written, it's a beautifully written show.

00:45:25.000 It's well acted.

00:45:26.000 James Gandolfini is terrific in the show.

00:45:28.000 And there's a shockingly moral undercurrent to the show, which is that if you are an evil person who justifies evil acts to yourselves, there are serious consequences to that.

00:45:37.000 Here's a little bit of the trailer for the original Sopranos.

00:45:39.000 By the time I was a kid, I knew I'd run a family business.

00:45:43.000 What line of work are you in?

00:45:45.000 Waste management consultant.

00:45:47.000 It's a gift from Tony Soprano.

00:45:50.000 Are you in the mafia?

00:45:51.000 This is overdue.

00:45:52.000 Am I in a what?

00:45:53.000 Like my uncle ran it, like my father ran it, I'd run it.

00:45:58.000 So the show's really good, and people glorify in sort of gangster movies.

00:46:03.000 You can stop it there.

00:46:04.000 People glorify in gangster movies specifically because they sort of live vicarious through the characters.

00:46:08.000 If there were no moral rules, then this is what we would do with our free time.

00:46:11.000 We would all be gangsters.

00:46:13.000 We'd run around at strip clubs and blow things up, which is why you actually do need a moral society.

00:46:20.000 Subversive undercurrent of this show is that the guys in The Godfather are actually bad guys, and that the guys in The Sopranos are actually bad guys.

00:46:28.000 So it's worth a watch if you've never seen it, and if you can handle, you know, graphic violence and nudity, but you're an American, so you probably can't.

00:46:35.000 Okay, time for some things that I hate.

00:46:41.000 Okay, so, thing I hate, number one, Stephen Colbert is just a hack. 0.87

00:46:44.000 Dude's a hack.

00:46:45.000 Okay, so Stephen Colbert is, it's funny to me that there are certain people who feel they need to pretend that Stephen Colbert is funny.

00:46:51.000 Like, as a political stance, we have to pretend people are funny now.

00:46:54.000 We have to pretend Hannah Gadsby is funny, the least funny human being maybe ever to walk the planet. 0.98

00:46:58.000 It's legitimately between, like, her and a third century priest.

00:47:02.000 For the, if we had to, like, history of the planet, least funny people, Hannah Gadsby, third century priest.

00:47:07.000 That's pretty much, those are pretty much the contenders.

00:47:10.000 And then we also have to pretend that, like, Samantha Bee is funny.

00:47:13.000 Samantha Bee hasn't told a joke in several years.

00:47:15.000 There was a point when Samantha Bee was funny.

00:47:17.000 And then being the woke queen went to her head.

00:47:23.000 And then Jimmy Kimmel used to be a lot more funny.

00:47:25.000 And then being the woke pope went to his head.

00:47:27.000 Well, Stephen Colbert put out a tweet this morning that says, we got our hands on Trump's handwritten State of the Union address.

00:47:34.000 Okay, if you were a child and you were making a joke about this, what joke would you make?

00:47:38.000 What would the punchline be?

00:47:39.000 The punchline would be a badly spelled crayon-scrawling, right?

00:47:41.000 I mean, that would be the punchline.

00:47:43.000 That's the most obvious punchline in the world.

00:47:44.000 What do you think Stephen Colbert tweeted out?

00:47:46.000 A crayon-scrawled, poorly spelled letter.

00:47:49.000 I mean, and here's what it says.

00:47:50.000 Dearest America, because, and it's funny because like some of the E's are backwards and stuff. 0.54

00:47:54.000 The state of our onion is strong, like my boss crossed out friend Putin.

00:48:00.000 In collusion, in conclusion, build wall, eat hamburger, Don E.T., U.S.

00:48:05.000 Prez. 0.99

00:48:07.000 Somewhere, Somewhere, all the clowns weep. 0.99

00:48:11.000 Somewhere, all the comedians roll over in their graves. 0.92

00:48:14.000 Somewhere, comedy shrieks its final cry to the sky and dies as Stephen Colbert beats it to death with an axe and buries it in a cornfield in Iowa.

00:48:24.000 Because my goodness.

00:48:26.000 But that's not important.

00:48:27.000 It's not funny.

00:48:28.000 He doesn't have to be funny.

00:48:29.000 He just has to be correct politically.

00:48:31.000 That's the only thing that matters.

00:48:34.000 Speaking of people who are out of their mind, and I'm not sure whether they're trying comedy or not.

00:48:39.000 So, people for the ethical treatment of animals.

00:48:42.000 As somebody who actually is sort of friendly to animal, I won't say animal rights, but to humane treatment of animals, I'm very friendly to humane treatment of animals arguments.

00:48:49.000 I've said before, I think there's actually a not indecent case for vegetarianism or even veganism, especially as we develop alternative sources of food, especially as we develop ways to get the protein that we need without killing animals.

00:49:01.000 Like, I'm actually kind of friendly to that argument.

00:49:04.000 PETA is insane. 1.00

00:49:05.000 The people for the ethical treatment of animals, if I could construct a group that would make people want to eat meat, it would be people for the ethical treatment of animals.

00:49:13.000 It's unbelievable.

00:49:15.000 All they do full time, full time, is just shoot themselves in both feet.

00:49:19.000 And then they look down, and if there are any toes left, they continue to pull the trigger until all toes have been obliterated.

00:49:24.000 So PETA put out an ad yesterday based on the toxic masculinity nonsense that's going around the internet.

00:49:30.000 In which, I even hesitate to show this because it's just that bad.

00:49:34.000 In which, I kid you not, they strapped certain vegetables to the genital area of unattractive men, and then say that veganism makes men more virile.

00:49:45.000 So, with that introduction, you've been warned.

00:49:49.000 So if you want to close your eyes now, if you're a subscriber, or if you wish to fast forward beyond this, you have my permission.

00:49:56.000 Because it's horrifying.

00:49:57.000 My retinas have already been scorched by this.

00:49:59.000 It's stuff I can't unsee.

00:50:01.000 So I've already viewed this, and now it can't be unseen.

00:50:04.000 I warn you now, if you have an innocent mind, if you are a person of decent moral character, protect thyself.

00:50:11.000 But if you're just too curious based on this pitch, which is probably the case, then view, gaze upon in horror, the works of man. 0.97

00:50:18.000 That is a carrot that is doubling as man's genitals. 1.00

00:50:27.000 I take it, I got it. 1.00

00:50:29.000 Give it, I want it.

00:50:30.000 I take it, I got it.

00:50:32.000 Okay, and it goes on like this for like two minutes. 0.98

00:50:34.000 Just people dancing with like eggplants strapped to their genitals. 0.85

00:50:39.000 And the case that they are making is that you shouldn't eat meat because vegetables make you more virile. 0.85

00:50:43.000 Well, if the case is that you should be more virile like these guys, there will never be another man who eats a vegetable ever.

00:50:49.000 Because these guys... I mean, nothing has made me want to eat fruits and vegetables less than this commercial.

00:50:55.000 This is... It's just horrifying.

00:50:57.000 Now, all that matters online is that you get attention.

00:50:59.000 So PETA is just trolling for attention, obviously. 1.00

00:51:02.000 Please stop it.

00:51:02.000 Please, for the love of God, stop it.

00:51:03.000 Please, stop it.

00:51:04.000 That's enough.

00:51:05.000 Okay, thank you.

00:51:07.000 If PETA, again, it just goes to show you that we now live in a world where trolling is everything.

00:51:13.000 So PETA is not going to convince anyone.

00:51:15.000 I have to imagine they know they're not going to convince anyone with this.

00:51:17.000 That nobody was sitting around going, you know what?

00:51:19.000 I wanted to eat chicken tonight, but now that I've seen this beta soy boy walking around with a giant carrot strapped to his pants, from now on, it's salads for me. 1.00

00:51:28.000 Like, PETA knows that that's not what's happening, right?

00:51:30.000 I mean, so PETA realizes that.

00:51:32.000 But what they're doing is they're servicing their base.

00:51:34.000 Everything in politics has become fanservice.

00:51:36.000 President Trump is into fanservice.

00:51:37.000 Alexander Ocasio-Cortez is into fanservice.

00:51:39.000 PETA is into fanservice.

00:51:40.000 Gillette is into fanservice.

00:51:42.000 Now, listen, I'm in a business where fanservice matters.

00:51:44.000 But if you are a decent person, then you might want to spend a little bit more time thinking less about fanservice and more about how you convince people.

00:51:52.000 Like, if your actual mission as PETA is to get people to stop eating meat, Then maybe the best way to get people to stop eating meat is to make the case that people should just be more humane.

00:52:00.000 And that doesn't mean saying that eating chicken is a holocaust on your plate, which is something that PETA said.

00:52:06.000 And then they had pictures of like chickens in cages as though a chicken is a Jew. 0.75

00:52:11.000 That's not going to convince anybody.

00:52:13.000 But when nobody's focused on convincing anymore, right now everybody is focused very much on pointing fingers at each other and yelling as loudly as possible.

00:52:20.000 That's really the only thing that matters in the world right now.

00:52:23.000 Okay, one other thing that I hate and I would be remiss to skip it today.

00:52:29.000 There's a story about Michael Cohen that I don't know whether to love it or hate it because it's pretty glorious, I will admit.

00:52:34.000 Michael Cohen, the president's former personal attorney, so his new one is Rudy Giuliani.

00:52:37.000 As I've said, this is the worst job in the world.

00:52:39.000 Michael Cohen also had one of the worst jobs in the world.

00:52:42.000 He was the president's personal attorney, but when the president was not president, so that meant he was basically his payoff man, apparently he hired an IT firm to rig early drudge polls and CNBC polls to favor President Trump.

00:52:53.000 But that's not the only thing that he hired the IT firm to do.

00:52:57.000 Michael Cohen also hired the IT firm to set up a Women for Cohen page. 0.65

00:53:02.000 I kid you not, a Women for Cohen page that portrayed him as a sexy, sexy man.

00:53:10.000 This is what the Daily Beast reports.

00:53:12.000 Okay, so it says that Michael Cohen hired an IT firm to rig online polls in favor of President Trump, and he instructed the company to create the at Women for Cohen Twitter account to loud how sexually attractive he is, according to the Wall Street Journal.

00:53:25.000 Trump's then-attorney promised to pay 50 grand to a small tech firm run by a Liberty University staffer To help distort online polls at CNBC and Drudge Report.

00:53:34.000 Cohen has confirmed the bombshell report, but the only really interesting part of the report is that he felt the need to create a Women for Cohen Twitter account in May 2016.

00:53:46.000 The Twitter account heralded Cohen as a sex symbol.

00:53:50.000 I kid you not.

00:53:51.000 It says, this is the little caption that he paid them to set up.

00:53:54.000 Women who love and support Michael Cohen.

00:53:56.000 This thing had like a follower.

00:53:57.000 Women who, and it was, and it was, I assume his wife, but I have no idea.

00:54:00.000 It says, women who love and support Michael Cohen.

00:54:03.000 Strong, pitbull, sex symbol, no nonsense, business oriented, and ready to make a difference.

00:54:10.000 Women for Cohen.

00:54:11.000 He had them set that up in May 2016 with pay.

00:54:13.000 Just shows you the lengths that human beings will go for attention and love.

00:54:17.000 They'll even make up groups about how sexy they are.

00:54:20.000 I mean, first of all, there are those of us who don't have to pay to make up groups like that.

00:54:23.000 Michael Cohen.

00:54:24.000 But second of all, like, really?

00:54:26.000 You're gonna... I can't...

00:54:29.000 The president does not surround himself with all the best people.

00:54:30.000 That's all I can say.

00:54:31.000 The president has bragged that all the best people... No, no.

00:54:36.000 He does not have all the best people, and it has been a problem.

00:54:39.000 Alrighty, well, we will be back here a little bit later with our live daily show, so you can check that out if you're a subscriber.

00:54:44.000 If not, then you can listen to us tomorrow.
