Summary

Pro-Israel Rally in Washington D.C. and in the wake of the latest pro-Hamas rally in New York City and in support for Israel, Rabbi Eliezer Meisel talks about the contrast between the pro-Israel rally and the latest anti-Israel protest in the streets of New York and the recent attack on NYPD officers by pro- Hamas supporters in Staten Island, NY. Rabbi Meisel also talks about a recent incident involving a bus carrying Jewish members of the Jewish community that was vandalized and vandalized by a group of Hamas supporters, and how the Jewish people are resilient in the face of adversity and fear. Rabbi Eliyahu Meisel: We will not allow history to slide back to the days of the Holocaust, when Jews were targeted and murdered and butchered; instead, we will be resilient in facing adversity in America and in Israel! Chai Chai: I am not afraid. We are not afraid, we, the citizens of the West, are NOT afraid, and we should not be afraid. The silent majority may be largely silent, but it is, in fact, a majority. That much was clear yesterday on the Mall in Washington, DC, where hundreds of thousands of people came to the National Mall in support of Israel, and a majority of Americans are in favor of Israel and support Israel. That's a powerful message. - Rabbi Elayah Meisel Israel is stronger than you think, and stronger than any other country in the world, and you can believe in, and that you are not scared of, because you are brave enough to stand up and fight for your country and stand up for your truth and your honor and your dignity and your rights. Thank you, Israel is strong enough to fight for the truth and you are strong enough, you are enough, thank you, and believe in your worth and your chance to be heard, and so much more. Thank you for being brave, and thank you for standing up and standing up for what matters, and fighting for your dignity, and your worth, and for your courage and your strength, you deserve a chance to live in the light and dignity, not only in a world where you know that you will be heard and respect your truth, and dignity and respect and respect, and respect in the words you are worthy of a safe and your freedom, and all of that, and not only that you know you will have a chance of a better life. Shout out to all the people who care.

00:00:00.000 We are not afraid.
00:00:01.000 We, the citizens of the West, are not afraid and we should not be afraid.
00:00:05.000 The massive pro-Hamas rallies we've seen in nearly every major Western city and across college campuses are designed to intimidate.
00:00:11.000 That's why they do violence.
00:00:12.000 It's why they fly terrorist flags.
00:00:14.000 But here is the optimistic reality.
00:00:16.000 Far more people in the West oppose Hamas than support it.
00:00:19.000 Far more people are in favor of Israel wiping Hamas off the map than are in favor of Hamas retaining any level of power at all.
00:00:25.000 The silent majority may be largely silent, but it is, in fact, A majority.
00:00:30.000 That much was clear yesterday on the mall in Washington, D.C., where pro-Israel ralliers, mostly Jewish, came by the hundreds of thousands, 300,000 in all, the largest single gathering of Jews in modern history.
00:00:40.000 They came from Florida and California and New York and New Jersey.
00:00:42.000 They came from Cleveland and Chicago and Houston.
00:00:45.000 And they came for one reason, to show that those who support Israel are more numerous than those who support Israel's enemies.
00:00:51.000 The rallyers actually showed far more than that, actually.
00:00:54.000 They showed that those who support Israel love the West, and by extension, they demonstrated that those who hate Israel generally hate the West.
00:01:01.000 The contrast could not have been clearer.
00:01:03.000 That pro-Israel rally was replete with American flags, like everywhere, with pride in the United States.
00:01:08.000 The pro-Israel rally featured no hate chants, no calls for genocide, no blood-curdling baying on behalf of the targeting of innocent people.
00:01:15.000 Instead, it featured prayer, solidarity, and love.
00:01:19.000 As one police officer reportedly put it, quote, I received a career's worth of thank yous in one day.
00:01:23.000 Meanwhile, here is footage of a pro-Hamas rally yesterday in Staten Island.
00:01:27.000 They want Israel destroyed.
00:01:37.000 That's what that slogan means.
00:01:39.000 Look at the number of masks in the crowd.
00:01:47.000 People blocking off their faces, because they don't want to be seen.
00:01:49.000 Localize the Intifada!
00:01:56.000 An Intifada is a violent uprising.
00:01:58.000 This is in New York City.
00:01:59.000 This protest devolved into attacking police officers.
00:02:06.000 Get back!
00:02:07.000 Get back!
00:02:13.000 You can see these pro-Hamasniks literally punching at, striking out at New York City police officers at the NYPD.
00:02:21.000 Yes, the contrast is rather obvious.
00:02:23.000 It's obvious to me.
00:02:24.000 It's obvious to you.
00:02:26.000 It's obvious to most Americans.
00:02:27.000 The support for Israel yesterday at this big rally was bipartisan.
00:02:31.000 Here was newly minted Speaker of the House Mike Johnson yesterday.
00:02:34.000 The auditorium was full of Republicans and Democrats in the house, and they wept as we watched the film together.
00:02:40.000 Most couldn't sit through it.
00:02:42.000 These Israeli hostages were kidnapped in their homes by barbaric Hamas terrorists for simply being Jewish and living in Israel.
00:02:49.000 As Prime Minister Netanyahu says so well, this is a fight between good and evil, between light and darkness, between civilization and barbarism.
00:03:03.000 The calls for a ceasefire are outrageous.
00:03:08.000 That was Mike Johnson, the current Speaker of the House, and here with the Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.
00:03:16.000 My friends, in conclusion, Hamas's goal was to scare us.
00:03:23.000 Those perpetrating the poison of anti-Semitism and bigotry around the world are trying to scare us.
00:03:32.000 But we will not allow history to slide back to the days of the Holocaust when Jews were targeted and murdered and butchered.
00:03:43.000 Instead, the Jewish people will be resilient.
00:03:48.000 And today, all of you are here showing we will not hide in the face of adversity in America and in Israel.
00:03:58.000 Am Yisrael Chai!
00:04:02.000 Now, the rally had its haters, of course.
00:04:03.000 Hamas supporters vandalized a medical tent at the rally the night before.
00:04:07.000 I just want you guys to see, this is our medical tent.
00:04:13.000 You see the medical tent is white right now on the outside?
00:04:17.000 We had to flip them around.
00:04:18.000 This is what it was last night.
00:04:20.000 When we got it this morning, all the tents had this on the outside of them, so we had to flip around the canvas.
00:04:27.000 It had been spray-painted by Pearl Hamas next.
00:04:31.000 Crazy.
00:04:31.000 Free Gaza!
00:04:35.000 Apparently, bus drivers refused to take Jews arriving from out of town from Dulles Airport to the rally itself, in a clear case of religious discrimination.
00:04:43.000 This bus company is going to be sued out of existence.
00:04:45.000 Here was the announcement aboard a chartered plane from Detroit.
00:04:48.000 The way this works, by the way, is if you fly a chartered plane into an airport, you cannot deplane unless there is, on the tarmac, some sort of vehicle ready to take you off the plane and to your destination.
00:04:59.000 The bus company that had been chartered for this ...refused to actually participate in bringing Jews to a pro-Israel rally.
00:05:06.000 Here's what it sounded like on the plane.
00:05:08.000 ...by our Detroit Jewish community members to attend the March for Israel in Washington, D.C.
00:05:14.000 And we were proud of the significant number who traveled to the event.
00:05:18.000 The buses that were hired to take over 900 participants from Dulles International Airport to the site of the march failed to appear, delaying the arrival of many, or most, in our group.
00:05:30.000 We have learned that this was caused by a deliberate and malicious walk-off of drivers.
00:05:36.000 Fortunately, many were able to travel to the march, and we are grateful for the drivers of those buses that arrived.
00:05:44.000 While we are deeply dismayed by the disgraceful action, our resolve to proudly stand in solidarity with the people of Israel, to condemn anti-Semitism, and to demand the return of every hostage held by Hamas has never been greater.
00:05:59.000 This has been confirmed by the bus company of their drivers and what has happened.
00:06:06.000 All of this is pretty depressing, of course.
00:06:08.000 It's even more depressing to see such sentiments in the halls of power, emanating almost entirely from the far left.
00:06:13.000 Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who's just a terrible person, spent yesterday ripping Israel, an unsurprising development from the morally blind adult who is definitely not.
00:06:22.000 Definitely not.
00:06:23.000 Fidel Castro's kid.
00:06:24.000 Here is Justin Trudeau ripping into Israel yesterday.
00:06:27.000 I have been clear.
00:06:29.000 that the price of justice cannot be the continued suffering of all Palestinian civilians.
00:06:38.000 Even wars have rules.
00:06:41.000 All innocent life is equal in worth, Israeli and Palestinian.
00:06:49.000 I urge the government of Israel to exercise maximum restraint.
00:06:59.000 The world is watching.
00:07:02.000 On TV, on social media, we're hearing the testimonies of doctors, family members, survivors, kids who've lost their parents.
00:07:14.000 The world is witnessing this.
00:07:19.000 Justin Trudeau is a disgusting human being trying to suggest that Israel is somehow not exercising maximum restraint, as we'll see in just a moment.
00:07:26.000 He's totally insane.
00:07:27.000 Meanwhile, Representative Jamal Bowman of New York took a break from pulling fire alarms to claim that his opposition to Israel was actually an attempt to uphold Judaism.
00:07:36.000 The gall of this is just insane.
00:07:38.000 I love that he is flanked with a bunch of ridiculous-looking human beings with shirts like, Rabbis for Ceasefire, and it's an overweight female.
00:07:47.000 who is definitely, definitely not a rabbi in any real sense.
00:07:51.000 I do love these folks are trotting out fringe elements as though they are representatives of
00:07:55.000 Judaism. Truly insulting stuff here.
00:07:57.000 And I've heard what was said here this evening before, that by me calling for a ceasefire with
00:08:06.000 my colleagues and centering humanity, I am uplifting deeply what it actually means to be Jewish.
00:08:13.000 Because I'm so...
00:08:15.000 So, uh, he knows. He- He's definitely a Jew.
00:08:17.000 Yes, Jamal Bowman uplifting the Jewish people.
00:08:19.000 So I feel grateful to be standing here.
00:08:23.000 Well, harav hagadol Jamal Bowman there speaking on behalf of the Jewish people.
00:08:30.000 That's not insulting at all.
00:08:31.000 Meanwhile, Bowman's fellow Hamas squad colleagues took a different tack.
00:08:34.000 Ilhan Omar claimed that all people of faith should oppose Israel.
00:08:37.000 Not bigamy, you know, or not marrying a brother apparently, but apparently opposing Israel.
00:08:44.000 something fascinating and bizarre in the fact that there are people who seem to be upset that there are rabbis and other people of faith out here asking for ceasefire.
00:09:07.000 And it's bizarre because you would assume That if you are a religious leader, if you are a faith leader, that your number one priority would be to look into your faith, into the teachings of your faith, and to say, I oppose violence.
00:09:33.000 I oppose violence from Ilhan Omar, who has yet to meet a terror group she doesn't provide support.
00:09:38.000 Truly amazing stuff.
00:09:39.000 By the way, where are all the imams who are out there calling for Hamas to surrender?
00:09:42.000 Where are they?
00:09:44.000 Can you name them?
00:09:45.000 Bueller?
00:09:46.000 And then there was the inimitably idiotic AOC.
00:09:49.000 Fellow traveler with the Hamas squad who suggested that Israel needs to not engage in military action against Hamas.
00:09:54.000 Instead, they have to find a way to, wait for it, negotiate with the terrorists who have openly stated that they wish to murder every Jew on planet Earth.
00:10:04.000 AOC.
00:10:05.000 She's now the cartoon.
00:10:06.000 There's this famous cartoon of John Kerry trying to negotiate between Hamas and Israel.
00:10:10.000 And the Hamasnik is holding a sign saying, death to all Jews.
00:10:13.000 And the Jew is sitting there.
00:10:14.000 And John Kerry is saying, can you meet them halfway?
00:10:16.000 That is now AOC.
00:10:19.000 Ceasefire means there is no military solution, only a diplomatic and cultural solution.
00:10:28.000 A relational solution.
00:10:30.000 A reckoning with ourselves and our history.
00:10:32.000 That is what ceasefire now means.
00:10:36.000 She's pathetic.
00:10:37.000 In truth, however.
00:10:38.000 And this is all depressing.
00:10:40.000 These are, in fact, fringe sentiments.
00:10:42.000 According to a new poll from Harris X, 67% of Americans believe Israel should continue fighting Hamas until Hamas is defeated and Israel's hostages are released.
00:10:50.000 More than 8 in 10 Americans agreed that Israel has a responsibility to protect its citizens.
00:10:54.000 This is the true America, not the pictures you see on CNN or the minority portrayed as a majority by our pathetic media infrastructure.
00:11:02.000 We'll get to the media in just one second, because boy, are they pathetic.
00:11:05.000 First, I want to talk to you about Daily Wire's most trusted privacy partner and premier sponsor of this show, ExpressVPN.
00:11:10.000 Let me ask you something.
00:11:11.000 What if there was someone out there who kept a log of every single thing you did, every minute of the day?
00:11:15.000 Now, what if I told you that it's exactly what the ISPs do every time you go online?
00:11:19.000 Your ISP is allowed to store logs of every website you've ever visited, and they can legally sell that data to anyone, which is why I always use ExpressVPN.
00:11:26.000 ExpressVPN reroutes your internet connection through their secure servers, so your internet provider can't see or log what you do online.
00:11:32.000 Now, many of you might be wondering, well, if I'm routing all my data through a VPN, doesn't that just mean the VPN can see what I'm doing and log my data instead?
00:11:37.000 Excellent question, but ExpressVPN was the first major VPN provider to engineer all of their VPN servers to run in RAM, which makes it literally impossible for their VPN servers to store any data, including logs, of any ExpressVPN customer.
00:11:50.000 ExpressVPN is so confident in their no-logs claim, they even had one of the biggest assurance firms audit their technology.
00:11:55.000 So stop letting people keep logs of what you do online.
00:11:58.000 Protect your online activity today.

00:12:13.000 It's maybe one of the only things keeping me sane.
00:12:15.000 And I think that's true for an enormous number of people.

00:13:12.000 That's Halo.com slash Shapiro.
00:13:15.000 Okay, so speaking of the media, They spent most of yesterday ignoring that giant rally, like the biggest rally of Jews in modern history, maybe since Sinai.
00:13:23.000 And instead they decided to focus in on astroturfing resistance to Israel finishing off Hamas.
00:13:28.000 So for example, the front page of the website of the New York Times last night carried zero mention, again, of the largest Jewish rally in centuries.
00:13:35.000 But they did have a front page article about 500 anonymous members of the executive branch writing a letter to Joe Biden protesting his Israel policy.
00:13:43.000 Clearly that pro-Hamas groundswell is buildings, says the New York Times.
00:13:47.000 The media continue to do their damnedest to undermine Israel's ability to defend itself.
00:13:52.000 Because again, Israel is an extension of the West, the media don't like the West, therefore Israel must be undermined.
00:13:56.000 So despite the fact that every major media outlet of the last 20 years has reported that Hamas has placed military headquarters beneath Al Shifa Hospital in the Gaza Strip, the press continue to treat Israel as a political leper for pursuing that military target.
00:14:10.000 No matter that the Pentagon spokesperson literally confirmed yesterday that Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad use hospitals as fronts for military sites.
00:14:19.000 We do have information that Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad uses some hospitals in the Gaza Strip, including the Al Shifa Hospital.
00:14:31.000 As a way to conceal and support their military operations and hold hostages.
00:14:36.000 They have tunnels underneath these hospitals.
00:14:38.000 And so Hamas and PIJ members operate a command and control node from Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
00:14:46.000 They have weapons stored there.
00:14:48.000 and are prepared to respond to an Israeli military operation against the facility.
00:14:53.000 So this is, I'm just telling you what we as the intelligence community assesses is happening in Gaza City, how Hamas is using these hospitals to operate.
00:15:05.000 But absolutely, we do not want to see a firefight in a hospital where there are innocent civilians.
00:15:11.000 No one wants to see a firefight in a hospital.
00:15:13.000 The only problem is that Hamas is going to pursue a firefight in the hospital and is literally doing that as we speak.
00:15:20.000 No matter that this behavior by Hamas under international law does transform such sites into military sites.
00:15:26.000 In 2016, as the Wall Street Journal points out, U.S.
00:15:28.000 forces attacked a hospital in Mosul.
00:15:30.000 Actually, U.S.
00:15:31.000 forces didn't just attack the hospital, they hit it with an airstrike.
00:15:34.000 Here is what CENTCOM said at the time, quote, ISIL was using the hospital as a base of operations and command and control headquarters.
00:15:40.000 In support of the Iraqi security forces, coalition aircraft conducted a precision strike on the location to target enemy fighters firing on Iraqi forces.
00:15:49.000 No heartburn from the media.
00:15:50.000 After all, Barack Obama was president at the time.
00:15:53.000 And yet Israel is going in and attempting to take out Hamas room by room, all while trying to protect Gazan civilians.
00:15:59.000 And still the media are treating that as some sort of war crime.
00:16:02.000 Many members of the media keep asking if a hospital suddenly becomes a legitimate target just because Hamas is You know, using it as a military site.
00:16:08.000 Now, the answer, by the way, is yes.
00:16:10.000 Here is article 19 of the Geneva Conventions quote, The protection to which civilian hospitals are entitled
00:16:15.000 shall not cease unless they are used to commit outside their humanitarian duties act
00:16:21.000 harmful to the enemy. Protection may however cease only after due warning has been given naming in all
00:16:26.000 appropriate cases a reasonable time limit and after such warning has remained unheeded.
00:16:30.000 Israel has warned Hamas and medical officials inside Al Shifa Hospital for literally weeks.
00:16:35.000 Israel has facilitated exit from the hospital for the sick and the innocent.
00:16:39.000 But here was the BBC openly lying about what Israel is doing in the hospital.
00:16:42.000 And make no mistake, this is not a mistake, this is a lie.
00:16:45.000 Because the BBC lies.
00:16:46.000 Because the BBC is effectively a Hamas propaganda arm.
00:16:48.000 Here we go.
00:16:50.000 At this moment we are hearing from Reuters that is reporting that Israel, it says its forces are carrying out an operation against Hamas in Gaza's al-Shifa hospital and they are targeting people including medical teams as well as Arab speakers.
00:17:06.000 They are also saying that Israel is calling on all Hamas operatives in the hospital to surrender at this point.
00:17:14.000 Once again, we are hearing from Reuters that Israel says that its forces are carrying out an operation against Hamas in that hospital that we had just heard of.
00:17:23.000 They are targeting Arab speakers as well as some of the medical staff there, and they are asking all Hamas operatives in that hospital to surrender.
00:17:34.000 They repeat the lie twice.
00:17:36.000 They say that Israel is targeting Arab speakers and medical personnel.
00:17:40.000 And they repeat it twice.
00:17:42.000 That is a lie.
00:17:43.000 In fact, Israel is exposing its own soldiers to fire from terrorists in al-Shifa.
00:17:47.000 And according to the IDF, those forces, quote, include medical teams and Arabic speakers
00:17:52.000 who have undergone specified training to prepare for this complex and sensitive environment
00:17:55.000 with the intent that no harm is caused to the civilians being used by Hamas as human shields.
00:17:59.000 In other words, Israel is literally shipping in medical teams and Arabic speakers
00:18:03.000 to facilitate help for the innocent and the sick.
00:18:06.000 This is something no army in history has done ever, literally ever.
00:18:11.000 The BBC was so egregious here, they were forced to apologize again
00:18:14.000 for this particular blood libel.
00:18:16.000 This follows on their other blood libel where they claimed that Israel had bombed a hospital early on in the conflict and then had to walk that one off.
00:18:22.000 Here's BBC apologizing for the lie.
00:18:25.000 And now an apology from the BBC.
00:18:27.000 BBC News, as it covered initial reports that Israeli forces has entered Gaza's main hospital, we said that medical teams and Arab speakers were being targeted.
00:18:37.000 This was incorrect and misquoted a Reuters report.
00:18:40.000 We should have said IDF forces included medical teams and Arabic speakers for this operation.
00:18:47.000 So we apologise for this error which fell below our usual editorial standards.
00:18:53.000 Well, here's the thing.
00:18:53.000 It didn't fall below your usual editorial standards.
00:18:55.000 Your usual editorial standards are you hate Israel and you're not fond of the Jews either.
00:18:59.000 Yet here was Elizabeth Spiers.
00:19:01.000 She writes frequently for the New York Times and here's what she tweeted.
00:19:03.000 I actually think the morality regarding civilian kids here should be apparent to everybody.
00:19:07.000 Anyone who tells me Palestinians are using children as human shields, F off.
00:19:11.000 That is racist by itself and has been used to justify all manner of atrocities.
00:19:15.000 Yes, it's now racist, according to this columnist, to point out that Hamas uses human shields.
00:19:21.000 She should probably talk to Hamas because apparently they are also racist because they brag openly about using human
00:19:28.000 shields.
00:19:28.000 .
00:19:30.000 In a second, we'll get to the encouraging fact, however, because there is something encouraging about what is going on.
00:19:35.000 We'll get to that momentarily first.
00:19:37.000 Are you a few years or decades out of school and wondering, what the heck did I even learn?
00:19:41.000 What was the point of all that?
00:19:42.000 You might be thinking, I don't have time to learn something new.
00:19:45.000 If that's you, you're not alone.
00:19:45.000 It's not too late.
00:19:46.000 Hillsdale College is offering more than 40 free online courses.
00:19:49.000 Learn about the works of C.S.
00:19:50.000 Lewis, the rise and fall of the Roman Republic, or the history of the ancient Christian church with Hillsdale College's online courses.
00:19:56.000 If you're not sure where to start, check out Constitution 101, the meaning and history of the U.S.
00:20:00.000 Constitution.
00:20:01.000 In this 12-lecture course, you'll explore the design and purpose of the Constitution, the challenges it faced during the Civil War, and how it has been undermined for more than a century by progressivism and liberalism.
00:20:09.000 The course is self-paced.
00:20:10.000 You can start whenever and wherever.
00:20:12.000 Our country needs more Americans who understand the Constitution and can defend our freedom against the encroachment of an increasingly large and unaccountable government.
00:20:19.000 Head on over to hillsdale.edu to enroll.
00:20:23.000 There's no cost.
00:20:23.000 It's easy to get started.
00:20:24.000 That's Hillsdale.edu slash Ben to enroll.
00:20:27.000 Hillsdale.edu slash Ben.
00:20:28.000 Again, I don't recommend colleges lightly to people and Hillsdale does it great.
00:20:32.000 Hillsdale has always been a font for actual virtue and good information.
00:20:36.000 Great place to send your kid.
00:20:37.000 Hillsdale.edu slash Ben.
00:20:40.000 So here's the thing.
00:20:41.000 Watch the media lie.
00:20:42.000 You watch left-wing politicians lie.
00:20:44.000 But here's the thing.
00:20:45.000 Nobody with a brain actually believes the media's moral equivalence game.
00:20:48.000 There are people who are soft-headed, who are interested in the moral equivalence game because it makes them feel sophisticated.
00:20:54.000 There are people who do the moral equivalence game because it makes them feel like they can have a level of disconnect from the conflict, and that makes them feel very good about themselves.
00:21:02.000 The easiest position in any conflict is to both sides the thing.
00:21:05.000 But the reality is, the vast majority of Americans are not doing that.
00:21:08.000 And that's encouraging.
00:21:10.000 Because in truth, all Hamas and its allies have is fear.
00:21:14.000 That's all they have.
00:21:15.000 That is the whole thing.
00:21:15.000 They have intimidation.
00:21:17.000 Well, we're not afraid.
00:21:18.000 The West doesn't need to be afraid.
00:21:21.000 Good news.
00:21:21.000 We don't just have right on our side, it turns out we have might on our side as well.
00:21:26.000 Okay, meanwhile...
00:21:27.000 The congressional clown show continues.
00:21:30.000 I have to say, our elected officials, it's a very serious time in the world.
00:21:32.000 It's always a very serious time, but it is a particularly serious time right now.
00:21:35.000 And the more clownish our politics gets, the worse it is.
00:21:39.000 And this is not just a Republican problem, it's a Democrat problem as well.
00:21:43.000 We have now created A massive dislocation of incentives with regard to actual governance.
00:21:50.000 The people who enter Congress were supposed to be originally public servants.
00:21:54.000 They were supposed to be people who actually had in mind the best for their district, for example.
00:22:00.000 And then power was supposed to check power.
00:22:02.000 Ambition was supposed to check ambition.
00:22:04.000 The thing was that in order to advance in the political realm in the United States, That meant that you had to play the game of politics.
00:22:10.000 That meant that you had to cut deals.
00:22:11.000 It meant that you had to manipulate.
00:22:12.000 You had to be Machiavellian.
00:22:14.000 You had to be clever.
00:22:15.000 You had to actually get things done from time to time.
00:22:16.000 You had to exert power, and you sometimes had to take a loss, right?
00:22:19.000 This was the push and tug of politics in the United States for centuries.
00:22:23.000 And then it's because everyone who's a politician aspired to be a higher level politician.
00:22:27.000 If you're a congressperson, you wanted to be a senator.
00:22:29.000 If you're a senator, you might want to be the president.
00:22:31.000 If you're a governor, you might want to be the president.
00:22:33.000 If you're a local state representative, you might want to be the governor.
00:22:36.000 The idea was be good at that job and you might elevate to the next job.
00:22:39.000 But we have now completely done away with that.
00:22:42.000 Instead, everybody apparently in Congress aspires to be a political commentator.
00:22:47.000 They want my job.
00:22:48.000 And the thing is, my job is very different than their job.
00:22:51.000 My job is to say things that I think are true.
00:22:54.000 Their job is to get things done.
00:22:55.000 Those are not quite the same job.
00:22:57.000 Now, you can say things that are true and also get things done, but what that would require is you to admit to your public that you are not always going to get everything that you want, because life isn't fair.
00:23:06.000 It requires that instead of posturing, you actually have to make a deal and then go back to your constituents and explain to them the deal that you just made and why you weren't able to meet all of their dreams.
00:23:14.000 And there's a problem for politicians because, again, the politicians most likely to win are the ones who promise you the world.
00:23:20.000 Now, that isn't really a problem with the politicians.
00:23:22.000 In the end, it's a problem with the electorate.
00:23:24.000 The electorate needs to get over itself.
00:23:26.000 The electorate in the United States is true, again, across the board, have a tendency to fall for politicians who promise them the world.
00:23:32.000 And then they can't deliver the world.
00:23:34.000 And then people get frustrated.
00:23:36.000 And then the politicians say, I feel your frustration.
00:23:38.000 And let me tell you something, I'm going to fix it by giving you the world.
00:23:41.000 And we're like, wow, that sounds amazing.
00:23:43.000 I would love to have the world.
00:23:44.000 And then the politician can't give you the world because it's not practical and they fall short and you get frustrated.
00:23:48.000 And the politician comes back to you and say, if you give me more power, guess what I'll do?
00:23:52.000 I'll give you the world.
00:23:53.000 We're like, whoa, I would love the world.
00:23:55.000 That sounds amazing.
00:23:56.000 Just ramming our head into the same stupid wall over and over and over.
00:23:59.000 And what you end up with is a bunch of clowns in Congress.
00:24:02.000 That's what you actually end up with.
00:24:03.000 Is a bunch of people who are idiotically smacking each other in the back of the head like a bunch of dumb school kids sticking gum in each other's hair in order to get attention.
00:24:11.000 That's what you end up with.
00:24:13.000 And it's true on like all sides of the aisle and it's frustrating and it's idiotic.
00:24:16.000 And meanwhile, the government just continues spending insane amounts of cash and making really crappy policy because in the end, the people who actually do the deals are the ones who are in the back room hashing the deal out.
00:24:26.000 And then it was like, well, if we just replace those guys with someone who promises me the world, that will fix the thing.
00:24:30.000 It's like that doesn't fix the thing.
00:24:32.000 The incentive structure is wrong.
00:24:33.000 Again, I can't emphasize this enough.
00:24:35.000 When it comes to politics, it's incentive structures that matter.
00:24:38.000 It is not the politician.
00:24:40.000 You can get a bad politician to do the right thing if the incentive structure is correct.
00:24:44.000 And you can get a very good politician to do the wrong thing if the incentive structure is wrong.
00:24:49.000 All the incentives are misaligned right now.
00:24:50.000 And so everybody is playing for camera time.
00:24:52.000 Everybody's playing for the viral clip.
00:24:54.000 And nothing gets done except by the people in the back room.
00:24:58.000 Which again, is what the populists were saying we need to avoid is the people in the back room.
00:25:02.000 Are the people in the back room?
00:25:04.000 They're gonna do the deal anyway.
00:25:05.000 So then the question is whether you're gonna elect politicians who are good at making the deal or bad at making the deal.
00:25:10.000 Okay, so, we're gonna go through a litany of just absolute clownish behavior by members of Congress over the course of the next few minutes.
00:25:15.000 So, we begin with the Senate.
00:25:18.000 There is a senator.
00:25:20.000 His name is Mark Wayne Mullen.
00:25:22.000 He is a United States senator from Oklahoma.
00:25:24.000 And Mullen's a fine senator.
00:25:26.000 He's fine.
00:25:27.000 He's a Republican.
00:25:29.000 He threatened to get in a fist fight with a union boss in the Senate yesterday.
00:25:33.000 And Bernie Sanders, who is a socialist clown who has never done a productive thing in his entire life, suddenly is the voice of reason here.
00:25:42.000 That's how far we've gone.
00:25:43.000 We have now gotten to the point where the geriatric communist who literally was thrown off a commune for being too lazy in the 70s and refused to pay, like, any of the paternity bills for his kids.
00:25:53.000 Like, that guy.
00:25:54.000 He is now the voice of reason in the United States Senate.
00:25:56.000 That's how clownish this is.
00:25:57.000 So this all led off, by the way, because the union boss who was testifying, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters president, Sean O'Brien, he had apparently tweeted against Mullen, calling him a clown and a fraud who pretends like he's self-made.
00:26:15.000 And he said, quit the tough guy act in the Senate hearings.
00:26:17.000 You know where to find me, any place, any time.
00:26:19.000 And here's how it went down in the Senate yesterday.
00:26:22.000 Sir, this is a time, this is a place.
00:26:24.000 If you want to run your mouth, we can be two consenting adults, we can finish it here.
00:26:28.000 Okay, that's fine.
00:26:29.000 Perfect.
00:26:29.000 You want to do it now?
00:26:30.000 I'd love to do it right now.
00:26:31.000 Well, stand your butt up, then.
00:26:32.000 You stand your butt up.
00:26:34.000 Oh, hold on.
00:26:34.000 Oh, stop it.
00:26:35.000 Is that your solution?
00:26:36.000 No, no, sit down.
00:26:38.000 Sit down.
00:26:39.000 You're a United States Senator.
00:26:41.000 Activate!
00:26:42.000 Sit down, please.
00:26:43.000 Can I respond?
00:26:44.000 Hold it!
00:26:45.000 Hold it!
00:26:47.000 If we can't, no, I have the mic.
00:26:49.000 I'm sorry.
00:26:49.000 This is what he said.
00:26:50.000 You'll have your time.
00:26:52.000 Okay.
00:26:52.000 Can I respond?
00:26:53.000 Oh, no, you can't.
00:26:54.000 This is a hearing and God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress.
00:27:00.000 Let's not make it worse.
00:27:02.000 I don't like thugs and bullies.
00:27:03.000 I don't like you because you just described yourself.
00:27:06.000 Hold it.
00:27:07.000 You have the mic.
00:27:08.000 You have time.
00:27:09.000 All right.
00:27:13.000 Oh my god, Bernie Sanders, again, the voice of reason.
00:27:16.000 He crazed old socialist, is the voice of reason.
00:27:19.000 And meanwhile, I got over here, Senator Duane Elizondo, Mountain Dew Camacho!
00:27:22.000 And he's ready to go!
00:27:23.000 And meanwhile, I got the union bus, like, let's do this right now, let's do this right here, right now, middle of Senate floor, let's do this thing!
00:27:29.000 Like, so first of all, gotta admit, Woodwatch.
00:27:33.000 10 out of 10, Woodwatch.
00:27:35.000 Woodwatch actual fist fight in the Senate.
00:27:36.000 Because honestly, if these clowns aren't going to do anything, if they're going to be completely useless people, we may as well get like a UFC match out of it.
00:27:42.000 By the way, Mark Wayne Mullen would win.
00:27:44.000 Like if you actually look at Mark Wayne Mullen's background, like that guy actually kind of knows how to fight, is apparently the story.
00:27:52.000 But that's pretty wild stuff.
00:27:56.000 So that was just one element.
00:27:58.000 Again, because this clownish behavior has now been incentivized.
00:28:02.000 Because the reality is that, like, is he going to pay a penalty for that politically?
00:28:06.000 No.
00:28:07.000 And Democrats know the same thing because Democrats are doing it.
00:28:09.000 Now, Republicans are so busy being bad at their jobs that they're doing it more often than Democrats.
00:28:13.000 You're seeing clownish behavior by Democrats for sure.
00:28:15.000 You got moron Jamal Bowman pulling a fire alarm and then pretending he didn't know that a fire alarm was a fire alarm and he thought that it opened doors.
00:28:22.000 Every time he opens his fridge, he thinks he's opening, he thinks he's starting a shower or something.
00:28:27.000 So he's a clown.
00:28:28.000 You got AOC who makes a living out of being a clown.
00:28:30.000 You got actual terror supporters in Congress.
00:28:33.000 And then you just have sort of like the regular clownish behavior of members of Congress.
00:28:36.000 I gotta say, why would you trust these people with more power in any way, shape, or— But Republicans, because they're so bad at governing right now and because the caucus is so fractious, they've decided the best thing to do is to hit each other!
00:28:47.000 So, apparently, yesterday, there was a bit of a throwdown between Kevin McCarthy, the ex-Speaker of the House from California, and Representative Tim Burchett of Tennessee.
00:29:00.000 NPR congressional correspondent Claudia Grisales first reported the encounter on X saying it happened when she spoke with Burchett after the GOP's conference meeting on Tuesday.
00:29:09.000 She said, have never seen this on Capitol Hill.
00:29:11.000 While talking to representative Tim Burchett after the GOP conference meeting, former Speaker McCarthy walked by with his detail and McCarthy shoved Burchett.
00:29:17.000 Burchett lunged toward me.
00:29:18.000 I thought it was a joke.
00:29:19.000 It was not.
00:29:19.000 A chase ensued.
00:29:21.000 This is when the Benny Hill music starts playing.
00:29:23.000 saying. Anyway, Birchett's back was to McCarthy and his detail walking by in the hallway,
00:29:30.000 then the lunge. Birchett responded jokingly as McCarthy kept walking. Seriously, Kevin,
00:29:34.000 didn't, sorry, Kevin, didn't mean to elbow, then yelled, hey, why'd you elbow me in the
00:29:37.000 back, Kevin? Kevin, you got any guts? Birchett then looked back at me and said, jerk, referring
00:29:42.000 I asked if he'd done that before and Birchett said no.
00:29:44.000 And that's when the chase ensued.
00:29:46.000 Birchett took off after McCarthy and his detail.
00:29:48.000 I chased behind with my mic.
00:29:50.000 Representative Birchett yelled after catching up to McCarthy, hey Kevin, why'd you walk behind me and elbow me in the back?
00:29:57.000 McCarthy said, I didn't elbow you in the back.
00:29:59.000 Birchett said, you got no guts.
00:30:00.000 You did so.
00:30:01.000 The reporter said it right there.
00:30:02.000 What kind of chicken move is that?
00:30:05.000 HC5.
00:30:05.000 You're all down there, right?
00:30:05.000 so pathetic.
00:30:06.000 Burchett starts to walk away from McCarthy, says, what a jerk, and then says, you need
00:30:10.000 security, Kevin.
00:30:11.000 He's a jerk, just a childish little.
00:30:14.000 He says, did you see that?
00:30:17.000 So so that's that's how that went down.
00:30:20.000 And then McCarthy was asked about it.
00:30:21.000 He denies that he hit Burchett.
00:30:22.000 But don't worry, that's not the end of the story.
00:30:24.000 Here's McCarthy yesterday.
00:30:25.000 H.C. five, you're all down there, right?
00:30:26.000 Not a very big hallway.
00:30:27.000 So I'm walking out.
00:30:28.000 You could talk to Bruce Westman, because I actually called him after you guys reported
00:30:29.000 something, said, did I hit somebody?
00:30:36.000 Bruce Westman and I were walking out, and I guess the reporter was interviewing Burchard or something.
00:30:42.000 I guess our shoulders hit, because Burchard runs up to me and I didn't know what he was talking about.
00:30:45.000 Some reporters asked me.
00:30:46.000 I did not run and hit the guy.
00:30:47.000 I did not kidney punch him.
00:30:49.000 I did not shoot anything like that.
00:30:50.000 You didn't shove him?
00:30:51.000 No!
00:30:52.000 We're walking through.
00:30:53.000 You're at HC5, right?
00:30:55.000 You guys line up along the way there.
00:30:57.000 It was Bruce Wester and I walking out.
00:30:59.000 He must have been interviewing someone.
00:31:01.000 I didn't know it was him or something.
00:31:02.000 I guess our elbows hit as I walked by.
00:31:04.000 I didn't punch anybody.
00:31:08.000 Okay, so, and then they pulled each other's hair and called each other, and then Kevin McCarthy said to Burchett, I'm rubber and you're glue.
00:31:14.000 Whatever bounces off of me sticks back to you.
00:31:17.000 And then Burchett went to a giant boulder and painted a tunnel on it in the hopes that Kevin McCarthy would run directly into the giant boulder, but Kevin McCarthy escaped by going into the tunnel and Burchett tried to follow him, but then he actually hit the giant boulder.
00:31:30.000 That's what is apparently happening in the halls of Congress.
00:31:32.000 But don't worry!
00:31:33.000 The clown show wasn't over!
00:31:35.000 Then, Matt Gaetz, who is like, The best clown at Circus de Soleil.
00:31:42.000 He showed up too!
00:31:43.000 Matt Gaetz had to get into the story because this clown car can't fit... You thought it couldn't fit more clowns, this clown car.
00:31:49.000 It turns out it can fit way more clowns!
00:31:51.000 Are you kidding?
00:31:51.000 It's a clown car!
00:31:52.000 We can fit at least 435 clowns in this clown car.
00:31:56.000 In just one second, we'll get to Matt Gaetz's involvement in this.
00:31:59.000 He's like, Kevin McCarthy?
00:32:00.000 Let's do this thing!
00:32:02.000 Matt Gaetz jumping into that clown car headfirst.
00:32:04.000 Honk honk!
00:32:05.000 We'll get to that moment.
00:32:08.000 Okay, so maybe World War III is coming.
00:32:11.000 Maybe the Chinese are about to pull in over on Joe Biden.
00:32:14.000 Maybe the economy is about to collapse.
00:32:15.000 But we do have Republicans who are actively putting on a three-ring circus, so that's exciting stuff.
00:32:20.000 We'll get to that in one second.
00:32:21.000 First, beat the holiday rush this season with Tommy John's Black Friday deals that are happening right now this season.
00:32:26.000 Why not give the gift of comfort to everyone on your list, including yourself with new Tommy John underwear, loungewear, and pajamas?

00:33:56.000 So the story wasn't over.
00:33:57.000 The clown show had to continue.
00:33:59.000 And what would a clown show in Congress be without Matt Gaetz?
00:34:02.000 Yeah, that dude.
00:34:03.000 He busts through the wall like the Kool-Aid man with his giant hair and his big teeth.
00:34:07.000 And he's like, yeah!
00:34:08.000 And he's ready to go.
00:34:09.000 So this is what I love most about Matt Gates.
00:34:13.000 Seriously, is that his deep and abiding hatred of Kevin McCarthy is so extraordinary.
00:34:19.000 It's like unbelievable.
00:34:20.000 He's like, did someone say he's a thousand miles away?
00:34:23.000 And it's like the bat signal goes up.
00:34:25.000 Kevin McCarthy's in the news.
00:34:26.000 He's like. Someone is that's the Undertaker's music.
00:34:31.000 He like runs right there.
00:34:32.000 He's like, let's do this thing!
00:34:34.000 So, Matt Gaetz heard this rumor about Kevin McCarthy getting into a physical altercation with Tim Burchett.
00:34:40.000 So what did he do?
00:34:42.000 He immediately files a formal ethics complaint against McCarthy.
00:34:46.000 He wrote a letter to the House Ethics Committee Chair, Michael Guest of Mississippi.
00:34:49.000 So he wasn't satisfied to throw McCarthy out of his job as Speaker for literally no reason.
00:34:54.000 I mean, we'll get to that in a second, because it was literally no reason.
00:34:56.000 OK, we were told it was going to be, wow, there's going to be a change in the way Congress works.
00:35:00.000 Big victories have been won.
00:35:02.000 And nope.
00:35:03.000 Uh, nope.
00:35:03.000 It turns out that Mike John- Again, really like Mike Johnson.
00:35:06.000 Thinks he's awesome.
00:35:07.000 Also, Mike Johnson gonna cut exactly the same deal that Kevin McCarthy was going to cut.
00:35:11.000 Why?
00:35:11.000 Because again, incentive structures, folks.
00:35:13.000 It's not about putting better people in Congress.
00:35:15.000 It's about changing the incentive structure.
00:35:17.000 And that comes chiefly from the electorate.
00:35:19.000 So if you don't like your Congress people, maybe you should think seriously about not electing idiots.
00:35:23.000 Anyway.
00:35:24.000 Matt Gaetz immediately filed.
00:35:26.000 So the same House Republicans who didn't vote to impeach Alejandro Mayorkas and who are about to pass a giant spending bill.
00:35:34.000 Those same House Republicans, they're like, you know what?
00:35:36.000 You know what?
00:35:38.000 Matt Gaetz is like, I had to oust Kevin McCarthy.
00:35:40.000 It was really important.
00:35:40.000 And not only that, now that he's not the speaker anymore, I'm going to curb stomp that guy.
00:35:45.000 He files an ethics complaint based on Kevin McCarthy supposedly elbowing Tim Burchett.
00:35:51.000 Says Congress has seen a substantial increase in breaches of decorum, unlike anything we have ever seen since the pre-Civil War.
00:35:56.000 Yes, when I think of congressional decorum, I think of Matt Gaetz.
00:35:59.000 Yes, that great guardian of congressional decorum who, I mean, literally wore a gas mask on the House floor in a vote about COVID.
00:36:11.000 Now again, that's like funny and weird, but like decorum from Matt Gaetz?
00:36:16.000 What are we even talking about?
00:36:18.000 What the hell?
00:36:19.000 It's like Sideshow Bobshawn was like, we need decorum here.
00:36:23.000 There's too much clowning around.
00:36:26.000 I wonder why there are so many people who think that the Republican Party is a bunch of rubes and morons.
00:36:30.000 Why?
00:36:30.000 Why would they think that?
00:36:31.000 I don't know.
00:36:32.000 It's so confusing.
00:36:33.000 What should we do?
00:36:34.000 I don't know.
00:36:36.000 Oh my God.
00:36:37.000 Gates took Birch's side.
00:36:38.000 He said, I myself have been a victim of outrageous conduct on the House floor as well.
00:36:43.000 That, of course, was in reference to when House Armed Services Committee Chair Mike Rogers of Alabama lunged at Gates during the election of McCarthy as Speaker back in January.
00:36:52.000 But nothing like an open and public assault on a member committed by another member.
00:36:54.000 The rot starts at the top.
00:36:58.000 McCarthy was asked, he said, oh good, I think ethics is a good place for Gates to be.
00:37:02.000 Which, of course, is a reference to the fact that Gates was actually facing an investigation from the House Ethics Committee himself.
00:37:10.000 So things are just, they're going, they're going awesome.
00:37:13.000 Here's McCarthy slamming Matt Gaetz.
00:37:14.000 Again, the clown show just continues to, more clowns, more, we, send in the clowns.
00:37:21.000 Here we go.
00:37:23.000 Congressman Gates, though, is submitting a complaint to the Ethics Committee over this issue.
00:37:30.000 Do you have any response to Congressman Gates?
00:37:33.000 No, I think Ethics is a good place for Gates to be.
00:37:39.000 And then he and Gates engaged in a duet.
00:37:41.000 Isn't it rich?
00:37:42.000 Aren't we a pair?
00:37:44.000 Me here at last on the ground.
00:37:46.000 You in mid-air.
00:37:48.000 Where are the clowns?
00:37:51.000 There should be clowns.
00:37:52.000 So many clowns!
00:37:55.000 So many!
00:37:56.000 But wait, there's more.
00:37:57.000 Oh my god.
00:38:00.000 I'm now the infomercial guy.
00:38:02.000 But wait, there's more!
00:38:04.000 Don't worry.
00:38:04.000 20% more clown in this package of Congress.
00:38:07.000 So, Jared Moskowitz decided to get into it with James Comer, and so that went great.
00:38:16.000 That was good.
00:38:18.000 So, here is what happened.
00:38:20.000 This does involve a reference to a smurf, which I'm here for.
00:38:23.000 Here we go.
00:38:26.000 But you and Goldman, who is Mr. Trust Fund, continue to try to- No, I'm not going to give you your time back.
00:38:34.000 We can stop the clock.
00:38:36.000 You all continue to... You look like a smurf here, just going around and all this stuff.
00:38:41.000 Now listen... Mr. Chairman, you have... No, I'm gonna tell you something.
00:38:43.000 No, no.
00:38:44.000 Hold on.
00:38:44.000 If we're not on time, we can... You continue to spew disinformation.
00:38:47.000 You have gone on TV and said the President did something illegal.
00:38:49.000 You discount an investigation of public corruption.
00:38:51.000 You're doing stuff with your brother.
00:38:52.000 The American people have the same questions.
00:38:55.000 Why should they believe you?
00:38:59.000 There's a different rule for the president.
00:39:00.000 There's a different rule for you.
00:39:02.000 Why should they believe what you're saying, Mr. Chairman?
00:39:04.000 Why?
00:39:05.000 You go on Fox News and say loans and steals are way to evade taxes.
00:39:10.000 We don't know that's what you're doing or not.
00:39:11.000 We don't know.
00:39:12.000 We have no idea.
00:39:13.000 We're supposed to take- Okay, they just go on like this.
00:39:15.000 They're still going so far as I'm aware.
00:39:16.000 So basically what happened here is that Jared Moskowitz, who to be fair, is dressed like a Smurf.
00:39:24.000 And they call me like, you're a smurf fucking ass!
00:39:26.000 Anyway...
00:39:29.000 Anyway, Jared Moskowitz, he was implying that Comer is corrupt.
00:39:33.000 There's no evidence for that at all.
00:39:35.000 And Comer goes back at him and calls him a smurf.
00:39:37.000 Things are just going great.
00:39:39.000 So Mitch McConnell was like, I'm too old for this.
00:39:43.000 Turtley Turtle, I'm too old for this.
00:39:45.000 He was asked about the fact that everyone appears to be directly from clown college.
00:39:52.000 And he's like, I can't.
00:39:55.000 I just, I can't.
00:39:58.000 As leader, what responsibility do you have to try to lower the temperature in the building right now?
00:40:04.000 We have a senator on your side challenging a witness to a fight in a hearing.
00:40:07.000 We have former Speaker of the House cold cocking a fellow Republican in the hall.
00:40:12.000 I mean, what is your responsibility as leader to lower the temperature?
00:40:14.000 Cold cocking?
00:40:15.000 I like how that story grew.
00:40:18.000 Frankly, I hadn't heard what you just indicated.
00:40:21.000 It's very difficult to control the behavior of everybody who's in the building.
00:40:30.000 I don't view that as my responsibility.
00:40:33.000 That's something that the Capitol Police have to deal with.
00:40:38.000 Okay, so I'm just going to point out here that there is in fact a generational difference.
00:40:42.000 Okay, like whatever you think about McConnell, and I got real problems with McConnell, whatever you think about Bernie Sanders, I have huge problems with Bernie Sanders, there is in fact a generational, maybe, it's just occurring to me now, maybe the reason we keep electing old politicians is because everyone who is between the ages apparently in Congress of like 30 and 60 is a child.
00:41:03.000 Or they're acting like children.
00:41:04.000 Maybe that's the reason.
00:41:05.000 We're like, okay, fine, so that guy's not functional and he's super old, but at the same time, at least he's not threatening fistfights.
00:41:13.000 At least he's not engaging in Roadrunner cartoons here.
00:41:18.000 We're such an unserious country because we have bred an entire generation of people who are fundamentally unserious about their jobs.
00:41:26.000 And so, the people who end up with the actual deal-making power end up being the old men in the back room, as it always was.
00:41:32.000 Now, it used to be younger men in the back room, but now it's older men in the back room, and they're like, we will promise the world and call each other smurfs and whack each other on the head with a rubber hammer.
00:41:40.000 Beep!
00:41:42.000 That's what we have now.
00:41:44.000 It's just excellent.
00:41:45.000 It's just great.
00:41:46.000 So, how does this end up?
00:41:48.000 Exactly how the politics always ends up, which is they spend more money.
00:41:53.000 Yes, that's right.
00:41:54.000 Remember that time that we ousted the Speaker of the House for no apparent reason and the new Speaker of the House came in and then cut the exact same deal?
00:41:59.000 According to Breitbart, the House passed a continuing resolution Tuesday to extend spending levels from a lame-duck session last December by Democratic House and Senate majorities into 2024.
00:42:06.000 The final tally was 336 to 95.
00:42:07.000 A whopping 209 Democrats supported the measure, far more than the 127 Democrats in favor.
00:42:15.000 So Mike Johnson came in and he immediately did exactly what Kevin McCarthy did.
00:42:20.000 So that is exciting.
00:42:21.000 The two-tiered continuing resolution, called a ladder to CR, extends the current spending levels for agriculture, energy and water, military, construction, VA, transportation, HUD spending bills through January 19th.
00:42:30.000 The remaining eight bills are extended through February 2nd.
00:42:32.000 Those spending levels were set by Democrats in December of 2022.
00:42:38.000 Chuck Schumer said that he was very pleased with all of this.
00:42:40.000 McConnell was pleased as well.
00:42:41.000 So same exact deal gets cut.
00:42:43.000 Same exact.
00:42:44.000 Same bad time.
00:42:45.000 Same bad channel.
00:42:48.000 I gotta admit, I'm kinda with Ro Khanna here.
00:42:52.000 Ro Khanna is the California Democrat.
00:42:53.000 Very far to the left.
00:42:54.000 And he was on MSNBC.
00:42:56.000 He's like, I can't even explain the Republicans.
00:42:57.000 I don't even know anymore.
00:43:00.000 I find myself in agreement.
00:43:03.000 I don't know, man.
00:43:04.000 I don't get it.
00:43:06.000 Why is it, do you think, that Speaker Johnson was able to get away with passing a clean mini-funding bill, which I think it's ridiculous to fund the government, honestly, through February in two halves.
00:43:18.000 I think it's silly.
00:43:19.000 But he did get something done that kicks the can.
00:43:22.000 Why do you think he's getting away with it when Kevin McCarthy couldn't?
00:43:26.000 Troy, you're asking the impossible to provide reasonable explanation for the actions of the Republican caucus.
00:43:32.000 You could have expert after expert, and I don't think anyone would answer that.
00:43:36.000 But I think it shows that a lot of the grievance against McCarthy was personal, and it didn't have as much to do with the substance.
00:43:46.000 I wish I could argue with that, but I cannot.
00:43:48.000 Because the evidence is not on the side of arguing with that.
00:43:51.000 That is the reality.
00:43:52.000 Meanwhile, the Senate Democrats aren't off the hook either.
00:43:54.000 In just a second, we're going to get to what Senate Democrats did with their supposed support for Israel.
00:43:58.000 We'll get to that momentarily first.
00:44:00.000 As you know, I'm not getting a lot of sleep these days.
00:44:02.000 It's a very stressful time.
00:44:03.000 I've been talking about my Helix mattress for years.

00:46:12.000 Meanwhile, the Senate of the United States, they keep saying they're very pro-Israel, but then yesterday, the Senate voted along party lines to table a motion to proceed on a House-passed bill, according to The Hill, that would provide that $14.3 billion in emergency aid to Israel.
00:46:23.000 So you remember, Joe Biden asked for a $105 billion foreign aid package.
00:46:28.000 Some of it, $60 billion, was going to go to Ukraine.
00:46:31.000 14.3 was gonna go to Israel.
00:46:33.000 Seven Bill was gonna go to Taiwan.
00:46:35.000 There's gonna be some border funding and all the rest.
00:46:37.000 And Joe Biden wanted that all tied up with a pretty bow.
00:46:39.000 And it turns out House Republicans are not so hot on the Ukraine aid.
00:46:42.000 They're like, we don't see an off-ramp there.
00:46:43.000 We don't know what exactly you're planning to do.
00:46:46.000 Those battle lines seem really stagnant.
00:46:48.000 What is the end goal there?
00:46:49.000 Now that is not the same thing as the war that is currently raging against Hamas.
00:46:53.000 Israel has military superiority.
00:46:55.000 They need rearmament in order to finish that job.
00:46:56.000 And they will finish that job if given the rearmament.
00:46:59.000 If given more rearmament, Ukraine is still not going to push Russia out of Donbass or Crimea, so it's a different situation on the ground.
00:47:04.000 Okay, so the House passed a bill that funded the aid to Israel, and they included in there a rider that would cut the IRS's budget.
00:47:12.000 They said, we'll take the money out of the IRS's budget, and instead, we'll give that money to foreign aid to Israel in the middle of a war.
00:47:18.000 And the Democrats voted unanimously to table that.
00:47:21.000 So from the Democratic perspective, like, ah, it was a poison pill.
00:47:24.000 We need our IRS funding.
00:47:25.000 But from a Republican perspective, the question is, your IRS funding is so important that you're not willing to pass a bill in the middle of a war to aid Israel in its fight against terrorism?
00:47:35.000 President Biden had also threatened to veto the House bill.
00:47:37.000 Now, in reality, there will end up being a deal that is cut here, but it is evidence of sort of the prioritization that Democrats have.
00:47:45.000 I think the next step here for Mike Johnson is going to be to pass a clean Israel funding bill without the IRS cuts.
00:47:51.000 And then watch as the Democrats try to veto that.
00:47:53.000 Because at that point, it's like, okay, you have no excuses at that point.
00:47:55.000 You can't even claim that the rider is the real issue.
00:47:58.000 And the Senate operates like the Senate operates, and pretending otherwise doesn't change the fact on the ground.
00:48:02.000 Okay, meanwhile, everybody in the Democratic Party has severe heartburn over Joe Biden.
00:48:08.000 Long piece over at Politico called, Here's How Biden Can Turn It Around.
00:48:13.000 Top Democrats agree the president needs more aggressiveness, more help from his friends, and a few more friends.
00:48:17.000 And they're calling on Liz Cheney and Mitt Romney to help.
00:48:19.000 Yeah, good luck on that one.
00:48:21.000 Not in terms of them helping, but in terms of anyone listening to them.
00:48:26.000 So this entire piece is just about the heartburn that Democrats have over Biden and what he can do to fix this thing.
00:48:33.000 So they say that basically he needs to show more life.
00:48:36.000 Enough with the bravado and denialism.
00:48:37.000 His aides are under no illusion about their challenge.
00:48:39.000 Even some of his most committed loyalists told me he needs to make changes.
00:48:42.000 Yet the president often displays his resentments in ways that do nothing to move public opinion and only delay needed adjustments.
00:48:48.000 Some of his younger aides mimic his snark.
00:48:51.000 Shaming or ignoring dissent doesn't make it go away.
00:48:54.000 And now that you have Jill Stein as a Green Party candidate and Joe Manchin newly teasing his presidential run, it's possible that Joe Biden could easily lose.
00:49:04.000 And so, one of the recommendations here is that Joe Biden should appoint more people in positions of high power to help share the burden.
00:49:13.000 That he needs to move Mike Donilon, who's his alter ego, over to the campaign.
00:49:18.000 They need to move the White House to war footing.
00:49:21.000 He should bring back Ron Klain, who did an amazing job, of course.
00:49:24.000 These are all the recommendations, but the reality is that Joe Biden's policies are failing because they are failing.
00:49:29.000 And part of that failure is going to be his meeting with Xi Jinping this week.
00:49:32.000 So, Xi Jinping is coming to California.
00:49:34.000 San Francisco has cleaned up.
00:49:36.000 Apparently, all it took to actually help the citizens of San Francisco is for the Chinese president to arrive.
00:49:43.000 They cleaned up all the homeless on the streets.
00:49:44.000 They took the open needles off the streets, the poop off the streets.
00:49:47.000 Again, all that took was the Chinese dictator coming in.
00:49:51.000 So what exactly is on the agenda between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping?
00:49:56.000 Well, there are very few expectations for major breakthroughs.
00:49:59.000 Xi is actually coming in weak.
00:50:01.000 So right now, if you were going to exact concessions from the Chinese, now would be the time to do it.
00:50:05.000 Xi actually has a very weak economy on his hands, as the Wall Street Journal points out.
00:50:11.000 They say, on the eve of a virtual meeting with President Biden at an Asia-Pacific summit last fall, Xi was formally enshrined as China's most powerful leader in a generation.
00:50:21.000 But China's economy is now beset by multiple challenges, from a deflating property bubble and unmanageable local government debts to slumping confidence and deflation.
00:50:29.000 The U.S., meanwhile, recorded its strongest quarter in nearly two years, and inflation is starting to subside.
00:50:34.000 That means the United States actually has leverage here.
00:50:37.000 So what exactly should Biden move for?
00:50:39.000 Well, certainly he should move for Xi to calm down on his military antics in the South China Sea.
00:50:44.000 Certainly he should push for Xi to open the books on, say, COVID-19.
00:50:50.000 Is Biden going to do any of that?
00:50:51.000 Nah, of course not.
00:50:53.000 He's going to do climate change.
00:50:55.000 So Joe Biden is trying to assure Xi Jinping, don't worry guys, we're not trying to decouple from you.
00:51:00.000 I mean, I'm sure on a personal level, Joe Biden doesn't want to decouple from China since again, he was the big guy who was probably receiving Chinese money while he was in the vice presidency and post vice presidency era of his career.
00:51:10.000 Here was Joe Biden saying, don't worry, don't worry.
00:51:12.000 What we really want is to continue to be hand in glove with the Chinese.
00:51:18.000 And how would you define success with your meeting with President Xi?
00:51:25.000 To get back on a normal course of corresponding, being able to pick up the phone and talk to one another if there's a crisis, being able to make sure our military still have contact with one another.
00:51:35.000 We can't take, as I told you, we're not trying to decouple from China, but what we're trying to do is change the relationship for the better.
00:51:49.000 From my perspective, if in fact the Chinese people who are in trouble right now economically, if the average homeowner or the homeowner, if the average citizen in China was able to have a decent paying job, that benefits them and it benefits all of us.
00:52:06.000 Okay, well, we will see what sort of concessions Biden makes to Xi.
00:52:09.000 Do I have confidence that Biden is not going to get rolled?
00:52:11.000 Why would I have possible confidence in that, considering how many times he has been rolled in the past?
00:52:16.000 So, on Beijing's agenda is trying to relieve bans on manufacturing of sophisticated microchips on behalf of the Chinese government.
00:52:23.000 They also want the American government to stop helping out Taiwan's Democracy Progressive Party, which opposes He wants basically the United States to help undercut all of that.
00:52:37.000 Also, Xi is going to continue to pitch American business people on the idea that China is a place of opportunity.
00:52:44.000 But again, the United States has a lot of leverage here.
00:52:47.000 And the United States should be pushing for more demilitarization, more signals of conciliation from Xi Jinping.
00:52:54.000 That's what Biden should be pushing for.
00:52:56.000 Is he going to be doing that?
00:52:57.000 I have serious, serious doubts.
00:52:59.000 Alrighty, in just one second, we'll get to the latest on the 2024 election.
