00:00:00.000 Black Lives Matter protesters form their own autonomous zone in Seattle, white liberals begin to embrace radical chic, and everything from the Washington Monument to Paw Patrol is on the chopping block.
00:00:09.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:10.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:12.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:20.000 You have a right to privacy protected at expressvpn.com slash Ben.
00:00:24.000 So, I have to admit, I am now turning from bemusement to amusement as an autonomous zone.
00:00:30.000 They are calling it the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, has been set up in Seattle.
00:00:33.000 Protesters have taken over apparently a six or seven block radius in Seattle and have declared their own state.
00:00:39.000 They've actually put up a sign that says, you are now leaving the USA.
00:00:42.000 Not kidding, the Capitol Hill Free Zone, they call it the Autonomous Zone, is a protester-occupied zone.
00:00:47.000 Okay, sort of like the Occupy Wall Street routine that we saw a few years back, back in about 2010.
00:00:52.000 And it is going to end up exactly the same way.
00:00:54.000 It happened because the police were told by Mayor Jenny Durkan to essentially withdraw from the area and to cede the area to the cops.
00:01:00.000 And it's turned into a raucous comedy almost immediately.
00:01:05.000 Now, I think that a lot of people across the United States are feeling that things have grown out of control just a little bit.
00:01:12.000 That no matter how much you believe that police brutality is wrong, and everyone who is good believes this, and no matter how much you believe racism is wrong, and you don't have to protest to believe that racism is wrong, it's kind of weird that we are now talking openly about a complete takeover of a major part of a major city by protesters against the police, where apparently, according to the cops, some extortion is going on, The protesters have built walls.
00:01:36.000 They've gone full Trump, guys.
00:01:38.000 They've gone full authoritarian, according to the left, right?
00:01:40.000 They've built walls.
00:01:41.000 Not kidding.
00:01:41.000 They actually built a wall to keep people out.
00:01:44.000 They took over the east precinct of the Seattle Police Department.
00:01:46.000 They called it the Seattle People's Department, which is... I'm really enjoying this live showing on continuous loop of The Dark Knight Rises.
00:01:53.000 It's really exciting stuff.
00:01:54.000 They set up physical barriers.
00:01:55.000 They apparently have armed people patrolling the physical barriers.
00:01:58.000 Apparently, they are stopping and frisking people who are entering.
00:02:02.000 I'm not kidding about this.
00:02:03.000 They're stopping and frisking people who are entering.
00:02:05.000 And this was to get rid of the cops, guys.
00:02:07.000 This was to get rid of the evil, horrible Seattle Police Department.
00:02:11.000 And immediately upon that happening, people in there were like, oh, you mean now there's power that's up for grabs.
00:02:16.000 It turns out that anarchy is usually a pretext for tyranny.
00:02:19.000 Chaos is usually a pretext for terrible people taking over.
00:02:23.000 And so, according to multiple reports, essentially a warlord is taking over.
00:02:29.000 We're going to get escape from New York, except it's escape from Seattle.
00:02:31.000 We're going to send in Snake Plissken.
00:02:34.000 I mean, all that has to happen here is for Air Force One to be downed inside the Seattle Autonomous Free Zone for things to get really wild.
00:02:41.000 So here is exactly what went down, according to Alipundit over at Hot Air.
00:02:47.000 Apparently, Seattle PD cracked down hard on protesters on Sunday night, despite the mayor having given a speech earlier that day calling for de-escalation.
00:02:53.000 In order to lower the temperature, the week-long blockade by the police of their East Precinct was lifted, and demonstrators were allowed to march past.
00:02:59.000 But that's not all.
00:03:00.000 Apparently, they were afraid that the rioters were going to burn down a police precinct.
00:03:03.000 So instead, the cops and the National Guard pulled out of the building entirely by Monday afternoon.
00:03:08.000 They removed all the equipment and the files, they boarded the place up, and they left.
00:03:11.000 And thus was born a new nation, the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, or CHAZ for short.
00:03:17.000 The country of Chaz.
00:03:19.000 A place where progressives can indulge in some of the most humiliating stereotype of left-wing protest subculture, according to reports.
00:03:26.000 By early Tuesday, demonstrators had established a perimeter with improvised barriers and deputized scouts.
00:03:31.000 In the afternoon, the no-cop co-op popped up, slinging kebabs, snacks, and free water to passersby.
00:03:37.000 A teach-in square was established at the intersection of 12th and Pine.
00:03:40.000 We're getting like a full malice regime here.
00:03:42.000 Tents were pitched near the precinct, where people were encouraged to stay throughout the night, or even just for two or three hours to hold the space.
00:03:48.000 By nightfall, they'd built their own outdoor cinema.
00:03:50.000 The crowd was energized to build connections.
00:03:52.000 People spoke about investing in black-owned banks, divesting from corporations, and prison reform.
00:03:56.000 One speaker issued a warning about the American Legislative Exchange Council, quote, a group of usually white men from major corporations who don't know our issues and make laws.
00:04:04.000 Protesters hung a banner on the East Precinct that read, Property of the People, according to KOMO, which is one of the local stations.
00:04:11.000 And there are plenty of photos available.
00:04:14.000 There's even a map replete with labels like, Regime Occupied Safeway.
00:04:19.000 Regime-occupied Safeway.
00:04:21.000 Solid stuff, guys.
00:04:23.000 Really good stuff.
00:04:25.000 Now, people inside— Come on, this is beyond parody.
00:04:29.000 It's like the right-wing made this up.
00:04:31.000 Honestly, it's as though it came from the fever dream of, like, of Thomas— of Tom Wolfe.
00:04:38.000 I mean, that's what it feels like.
00:04:40.000 Activists who are claiming to have helped create the police no-go zone in Seattle are now asking for food from the outside.
00:04:47.000 There's an activist who tweeted out, the homeless people we invited took away all the food at the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.
00:04:56.000 You got rid of law and order, and then the homeless people came and took all your food.
00:05:02.000 Because you're communists, and this is what happens, you stupid communists.
00:05:05.000 It's just, it's delicious.
00:05:06.000 It's delicious.
00:05:07.000 Again, my bemusement, so my outrage at the destruction of law and order turned to bemusement as I watched the mayor of Seattle cave to all of this, and now it has turned to full-scale amusement as the thing turns into a predictable debacle.
00:05:21.000 According to one of the anarchists over there, We need more food to keep the area operational.
00:05:27.000 Please, if possible, bring— You ready for this?
00:05:30.000 Vegan meat substitutes.
00:05:32.000 Fruits, oats, soy products, etc.
00:05:34.000 Anything to help us eat.
00:05:36.000 Yes, they're starving in there because they don't have the Morningstar Farms vegan breakfast products.
00:05:42.000 We need those in there right now.
00:05:45.000 This 18-year-old activist appears to be a transgender woman and self-described lesbian anarchist, according to her now private Twitter account.
00:05:54.000 Well done, everybody.
00:05:56.000 And so what are the authorities doing about this?
00:05:59.000 Because there are actual businesses and people who are not crazy who live here.
00:06:02.000 So what are they doing about this?
00:06:04.000 Mayor Jenny Durkan, who watched her office is taken over the other day by protesters at the behest of socialist councilwoman Shama Sawant, who's a full-scale idiot.
00:06:04.000 Nothing.
00:06:13.000 I mean, Shama Sawant is a person who occupied Boeing and asked that Boeing stop making military materials so that they could create buses for the homeless or something like that.
00:06:22.000 She's a crazy person, Shama Sawant.
00:06:25.000 So, Mayor Jenny Durkin tweeted out, in an effort, this is June 8th, so three days ago, in an effort to proactively de-escalate interactions between protesters and law enforcement outside the East Precinct, Chief Best and Seattle PD officers have removed barricades surrounding the East Precinct while safely securing the facility.
00:06:40.000 In addition, Seattle Fire has several vehicles stationed near the precinct to ensure emerging medical needs and fires are addressed if necessary.
00:06:47.000 Keeping this area safe is critical.
00:06:49.000 There are approximately 500 residential homes in this block.
00:06:53.000 As the chief takes this operational step, we'll continue to remain focused on what we can and must do to address the systemic inequities that continue to disproportionately impact our black residents.
00:07:01.000 Ah, so you're gonna just let people take over a seven block radius in your city in order to fight inequity.
00:07:06.000 Wow.
00:07:07.000 Keeping demonstrations peaceful must be a joint effort between our community members and law enforcement.
00:07:12.000 Now, it gets better, okay?
00:07:14.000 Like, the story gets better.
00:07:15.000 Because it is spectacular in every possible way it is possible for this story to be spectacular.
00:07:19.000 We will bring you all of the details of the brand new secessionist country that has been established inside the United States.
00:07:26.000 It's exciting, exciting stuff, guys.
00:07:27.000 You're watching a revolution in real time, and it is comedy.
00:07:32.000 It is high comedy.
00:07:33.000 Guys, this is high concept comedy right here.
00:07:35.000 We're going to get to it in one second.
00:07:36.000 First, let's talk about the fact that you're spending an awful lot of time consuming media these days because, have you ever seen a news cycle like this?

00:08:48.000 Okay.
00:08:48.000 So Fox News had a reporter on the scene yesterday explaining what was going on inside this brand new country, Chaz, the country of Chaz.
00:08:58.000 It's so good.
00:08:59.000 You see, Here's the reporter from Fox News on Tucker Carlson's show last night.
00:09:05.000 A local station got video of several guards armed with assault rifles.
00:09:09.000 They are asking for identification before letting people in, and police have received reports of the armed guards demanding money from some businesses inside their area.
00:09:19.000 We also saw people passing out food in what they call a no-cop co-op.
00:09:24.000 And they made a long list of demands.
00:09:25.000 We have a full screen to show you at least some of them.
00:09:28.000 Among them, abolish the Seattle Police Department and the court system, disarm all cops until they are all fired, and abolish youth jails.
00:09:36.000 The mayor's office did not respond to our request for a request for information about what they plan to do next.
00:09:45.000 So they're allowing these crazies to take over, like, this is a place where taxpayers live.
00:09:50.000 This is a place where taxpayers live.
00:09:51.000 So how's your whole abolish the police thing going if you're living in that area?
00:09:55.000 Is it going well for you?
00:09:56.000 By the way, some of the signs around the area are things like The cops will always be racist because capitalism requires inequality.
00:10:03.000 Okay, so you would imagine that there are no cops now, right?
00:10:05.000 I mean, like, this is the whole point, is to get rid of the cops.
00:10:07.000 Wrong you are!
00:10:09.000 Wrong you are!
00:10:10.000 The cops are there.
00:10:12.000 They're just not called cops.
00:10:14.000 So according to Reddit, okay, people have been posting on Reddit what exactly is going on.
00:10:19.000 There's a person named Raz Simone.
00:10:20.000 Raz Simone is a rapper.
00:10:21.000 Apparently he has been distributing his rap mixtape to To as many people as he can.
00:10:29.000 I'm gonna read you some of the comments.
00:10:38.000 Okay, you ready?
00:10:39.000 This is so good.
00:10:40.000 It's from...
00:10:42.000 A guy called WizardOfTheFuture over at Reddit.
00:10:44.000 Raz's crew is self-appointed, heavily armed, has indicated their intention to police the area, and has engaged in the use of force.
00:10:50.000 I am unaware of any rival street force of their stature expressing the desire to hold authority in the area.
00:10:55.000 The power vacuum has apparently been filled.
00:11:00.000 And then, apparently, one of the other comments would say, I only knew him from three years ago when he gave my staff his mixtape when he came into our work.
00:11:07.000 And apparently, people are tweeting out things like, Raz is becoming the very thing people didn't want to begin with.
00:11:12.000 There's a video that is out of the people working with Raz Simone in which they are confronting people who are graffitying.
00:11:22.000 Now apparently they only want certain places graffitied because they're certain allies and they don't want their businesses graffitied.
00:11:26.000 So weird, they want to protect the property of people who they are allied with.
00:11:30.000 But I thought that private property is bad, guys.
00:11:33.000 So they walk up to some people who are graffitying.
00:11:35.000 This is people who apparently work for Rasmun, allegedly work for Rasmun.
00:11:39.000 And the exchange is just glorious.
00:11:42.000 Because remember, this whole thing started about the evils of police brutality and authoritarianism.
00:11:47.000 And literally, you now have an armed force of people in this Seattle communist area telling people, we are the police now, and I will blow your brains out if you resist.
00:11:59.000 So police brutality went away for like that long, apparently.
00:12:03.000 And by the way, Seattle cops aren't doing that.
00:12:05.000 Seattle cops are not doing that.
00:12:06.000 These are the woke, the woke initiates.
00:12:09.000 The woke army has arrived.
00:12:11.000 I want to start a GoFundMe today.
00:12:13.000 Any woke white liberals who are working for mainstream media outlets, if you wish to relocate to CHAZ, to the Capitol Hill autonomous zone, I will help pay your way.
00:12:22.000 If you pledge that you will stay there, if you can show evidence that you are willing to stay there for the entire duration of CHAZ's Of Chaz's existence, and you are willing to subject all of your bank accounts to the tender mercies of Chaz, I am more than willing to subsidize your immigration to this area outside the United States.
00:12:41.000 Here's a little bit of the video that was released.
00:12:43.000 It's about an hour long, so it's been cut down, obviously.
00:12:45.000 This started with people talking.
00:12:47.000 It ended with a scuffle, somebody's glasses being broken, somebody's phone being broken, and somebody being put to the ground.
00:12:53.000 All of this because the police are evil, guys.
00:12:54.000 Because the police are bad.
00:12:56.000 Police are bad.
00:12:56.000 So this is better, obviously.
00:12:58.000 I mean, come on.
00:12:59.000 We wouldn't want the anarchist situation to get chaotic or anything.
00:13:03.000 We need some tyranny.
00:13:04.000 So here we go.
00:13:07.000 You don't know the owner of this place?
00:13:09.000 The owner that's actually being nice and letting us stay here?
00:13:12.000 You forgot, we are the police of this community now.
00:13:16.000 We are the police of this community.
00:13:21.000 We are the police of this community.
00:13:29.000 Oh, you got someone coming in 15 minutes?
00:13:31.000 What the f*** you talking about 15 minutes?
00:13:33.000 What the f*** you talking about?
00:13:34.000 Don't be talking about no threats around here, my f***.
00:13:37.000 Don't do that.
00:13:39.000 Don't be saying no threats, I'll blow your brains out.
00:13:41.000 This is all from a YouTube video that was posted by people from inside the Seattle Capitol Hill autonomous zone.
00:13:48.000 So very, very solid stuff, everybody.
00:13:50.000 Just really, really good stuff.
00:13:52.000 By the way, Raz Simone apparently announced that people entering ought to be stopped and frisked.
00:13:57.000 Remember when stop and frisk was a bad thing?
00:13:59.000 Because it was the cops, right?
00:14:00.000 Which is literally the definition of stop and frisk.
00:14:00.000 The cops were bad.
00:14:03.000 Which is racist, right?
00:14:04.000 he belongs to the People's Force, a replacement for Seattle PD.
00:14:04.000 I mean, stop and frisk is bad.
00:14:07.000 On June 8th, in a live video, he advised that unfamiliar faces should be stopped, questioned, and checked to see if they are armed, which is literally the definition of stop and frisk, which is racist, right?
00:14:17.000 I mean, stop and frisk is bad.
00:14:18.000 We can't do it.
00:14:19.000 So according to Como News, it was unusual sights.
00:14:22.000 Seattle Fire Chief Harold Scoggins working with people occupying streets in Seattle's Capitol Hills neighborhood to close two large rolling metal gates that lead into the garage of the East Precinct.
00:14:32.000 The Seattle Police Department had abandoned the East Precinct two days earlier.
00:14:35.000 After receiving threats, there would be attempts to burn it down.
00:14:37.000 There are no police officers around.
00:14:38.000 There are no other firemen or city personnel with Scoggins.
00:14:41.000 He says, I was walking through.
00:14:41.000 Someone pointed out to me the gates were not closed.
00:14:43.000 The chains weren't working.
00:14:43.000 They were jammed.
00:14:44.000 I just wanted to secure the building.
00:14:46.000 He was in the center of what's now being called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone, named by the people who occupy it.
00:14:52.000 I told him this report for Como.
00:14:53.000 I thought it was unusual a fire chief was trying to secure a police precinct by himself while being surrounded by hundreds of people occupying the streets who have shown a disdain for police.
00:15:00.000 He says, well, we got a team.
00:15:01.000 We're working through this.
00:15:02.000 There is some trust built.
00:15:03.000 I don't want to compromise that trust.
00:15:05.000 Raz Simone, who some have told me is one of the leaders in what many have said is a leaderless group of protesters, said, look, you look around, it's peaceful.
00:15:12.000 Everyone is chill.
00:15:13.000 Well, except for that tape.
00:15:14.000 That was not quite so chill.
00:15:16.000 And that lack of an organized leadership is hampering efforts to bring some normalcy to the area and have officers return to the precinct, according to Assistant Police Chief Deanna Nolette.
00:15:23.000 Nolette said her department and other city departments are trying to find the leaders of the CHAZ to negotiate a roadmap for the area's immediate future.
00:15:30.000 You know what this roadmap should be?
00:15:32.000 The cops never left.
00:15:33.000 That would be the roadmap.
00:15:33.000 By the way, they are damned lucky that Janet Reno isn't Attorney General right now.
00:15:37.000 If this were a bunch of white branch Davidians in Texas, their compound would be burned out by now, right?
00:15:42.000 But now, because this is the woke initiates, we're just going to allow a six block radius in the center of the biggest city in Washington state to be taken over.
00:15:52.000 Nolet said, while Washington is an open carry state, there's no legal right for those to be used, those arms to be used to intimidate community members, because apparently they are trying to intimidate people trying to enter.
00:16:01.000 She said operating a citizen checkpoint on a public street is illegal.
00:16:05.000 She said we've heard anecdotally of citizens and businesses being asked to pay a fee to operate within this area.
00:16:10.000 So, there are reports of an actual shakedown happening inside the area.
00:16:15.000 Why, it seems as though the communist-slash-anarchist takeover is not all it's cracked up to be.
00:16:21.000 I don't feel like injustice is being cured, guys.
00:16:23.000 I don't feel like this is going well.
00:16:24.000 By the way, what is the city of Seattle doing about all of this?
00:16:27.000 They've staffed porta-potties there.
00:16:29.000 They've granted all the protesters porta-potties.
00:16:31.000 They've put garbage cans and portable toilets in the vicinity for use by demonstrators.
00:16:35.000 The demonstrators, by the way, are also showing, they put up a big movie screen, and they're showing Eva Duvernay's 13th documentary from Netflix about how the prison system is evil.
00:16:46.000 And then Eva Duvernay, not having to live here of course, she puts up a message, blessings and bravery to all the good people at CHAZ tonight, onward.
00:16:55.000 Anytime Ava DuVernay wants to relocate from, I'm sure, her posh estate down to the Capitol Hill autonomous zone with no police protection, and if she wants to bring her bank account with her, then she is absolutely free to do so.
00:17:06.000 And I very much look forward to her doing that.
00:17:09.000 That sounds great.
00:17:10.000 What are they actually demanding?
00:17:12.000 See, one of the things that's happened here is that there's, in semantics, in linguistics, there's a term called semantic overload.
00:17:12.000 So here's the demands.
00:17:19.000 Semantic overload is when there's a term that is deliberately vague so it means more than one thing.
00:17:24.000 Black Lives Matter is a perfect example of this.
00:17:26.000 As my friend Eric Weinstein has pointed out, Black Lives Matter means something that is perfectly obvious and that we all agree with, Black Lives Matter, but it also means something more, which is you're supposed to agree with the group, Black Lives Matter, or their demands.
00:17:36.000 And that's ridiculous because the Black Lives Matter group is very distinct from the message of Black Lives Matter.
00:17:41.000 In fact, the Black Lives Matter group is incredibly radical.
00:17:43.000 They call for things that nobody in America wants, including Democrats.
00:17:46.000 They're extraordinarily anti-Semitic in their leadership team.
00:17:49.000 And so the semantic overload for Black Lives Matter Has become perfectly obvious.
00:17:55.000 So what are the demands of the people living and ruling now in this particular area of Seattle?
00:18:01.000 Wait until you hear these demands because they are spectacular.
00:18:03.000 They are spectacular.
00:18:04.000 What they demand in order to leave free taxpaying citizens alone in the United States of America.
00:18:10.000 Because they say they're no longer living in the United States of America.
00:18:13.000 They literally have a sign, again, that says, you are now leaving the USA.
00:18:17.000 And how's that going for everybody?
00:18:19.000 When the commune's food is being eaten by all the homeless and you have to ship in vegan meat to all the protesters.
00:18:24.000 We'll get to more of this in just one second.
00:18:26.000 First, when it comes to your future, one of my big buckaloos is blaming everybody else for your future.
00:18:31.000 Blaming everybody else for your situation.
00:18:33.000 The fact is that if you want to be successful in life, make good decisions and better yourself.
00:18:38.000 Really spend time bettering yourself and better your own opportunities.
00:18:41.000 One way to do that is to check out Ashford University.
00:18:43.000 Ashford University offers online bachelor's and master's degrees programs.

00:19:17.000 Instead, why don't you actually just go make your own life better right now.
00:19:19.000 Dare to dream big for yourself.
00:19:21.000 Your tomorrow starts today at Ashford University.
00:19:23.000 There is no fee to apply or standardized testing required to enroll.
00:19:26.000 Head on over to ashford.edu slash ben, that is ashford.edu slash ben, ashford.edu slash ben, and get your journey started today.
00:19:34.000 Okay, so what are the demands of the protesters?
00:19:37.000 So Free Capitol Hill has put up a piece over at Medium.com.
00:19:41.000 They say, In credit to the people who freed Capitol Hill, this list of demands is neither brief nor simplistic.
00:19:46.000 There is no simple request to end police brutality.
00:19:48.000 We demand that the City Council and the Mayor, whoever that may be, implement these policy changes for the cultural and historic advancement of the City of Seattle and to ease the struggles of its people.
00:19:57.000 This document is to represent the black voices who spoke in victory at the top of 12th and Pine after nine days of peaceful protest while under constant nightly attack from the Seattle Police Department.
00:20:06.000 Well, actually, it wasn't constant nightly attack from the Seattle Police Department.
00:20:09.000 Some of these protesters were getting very violent with police.
00:20:13.000 So, here are their demands.
00:20:15.000 They want abolition of the Seattle Police Department and the court system.
00:20:19.000 Abolition of it.
00:20:20.000 They deliberately say, we do not request reform.
00:20:22.000 We demand abolition.
00:20:24.000 We demand the defunding and abolition of the Seattle Police Department and the attached criminal justice apparatus.
00:20:29.000 That means 100% of funding, including existing pensions for Seattle Police.
00:20:34.000 Also, we want to disallow the operations of ICE in the city of Seattle.
00:20:38.000 We demand that the use of armed force be banned entirely.
00:20:41.000 No guns, no batons, no riot shields, no chemical weapons.
00:20:45.000 We demand an end to the school-to-prison pipeline and the abolition of youth jails.
00:20:50.000 Get kids out of prison and get cops out of schools.
00:20:52.000 We demand that the new youth prison being built in Seattle currently be repurposed.
00:20:55.000 We demand that not the city government, nor the state government, but that the federal government launch a full-scale investigation into past and current cases of police brutality in Seattle and Washington, as well as the reopening of all closed cases reported to the Office of Police Accountability.
00:21:09.000 We demand reparations for victims of police brutality in a form to be determined.
00:21:13.000 So they're not actually going to explain what they mean by that.
00:21:15.000 We demand that the city of Seattle make the names of officers involved in police brutality a matter of public record.
00:21:20.000 We demand a retrial of all people of color currently serving a prison sentence for violent crime by a jury of their peers in the community.
00:21:28.000 So presumably this means that if you are a black person who committed a crime and now you're in jail, they want you retried, but only if you're black and only by a black jury.
00:21:36.000 We demand decriminalization of the acts of protest and amnesty for protesters generally, but specifically those involved in what has been termed the George Floyd Rebellion against the terrorist cell that previously occupied this area known as the Seattle Police Department.
00:21:48.000 This includes the immediate release of all protesters currently being held in prison after the arrest made at 11th and Pine on Sunday night.
00:21:56.000 We demand that the city of Seattle and state government release any prisoner currently serving time for a marijuana-related offense.
00:22:01.000 We demand that they release any prisoner serving time just for resisting arrest.
00:22:06.000 We demand that prisoners serving time be given full and unrestricted right to vote.
00:22:10.000 We demand an end to prosecutorial immunity for police officers.
00:22:13.000 We demand abolition of all imprisonment.
00:22:16.000 Not just, so they start with youth imprisonment, then they're like, you know what?
00:22:16.000 All imprisonment.
00:22:18.000 As this goes on, I have a second thought.
00:22:20.000 All imprisonment should end.
00:22:21.000 No more prisons.
00:22:24.000 We demand that the Seattle Police Department empty its lost and found and return property owned by denizens of the city.
00:22:30.000 We demand that all the body cameras be turned on and all body camera footage be made available to the public.
00:22:35.000 And they want free public housing.
00:22:38.000 They also would like de-gentrification of Seattle, starting with rent control.
00:22:43.000 They want free college for everybody in the state of Washington.
00:22:46.000 They want hospitals and care facilities in Seattle to employ black doctors and nurses specifically to help care for black patients.
00:22:53.000 Because I know that if I were having a heart attack, first thing I would think is, I need a Jewish doctor right now.
00:22:58.000 So they want resegregation of hospitals, which is a fascinating demand.
00:23:03.000 We demand the people of Seattle seek out and proudly support black-owned businesses.
00:23:07.000 So we have to subsidize specifically black-owned businesses.
00:23:11.000 And we demand that the City of Seattle and the State of Washington remove any and all monuments dedicated to historical figures of the Confederacy, etc, etc.
00:23:18.000 So, well done everybody.
00:23:20.000 These are the people to whom you are catering.
00:23:22.000 Just very, very solid stuff.
00:23:24.000 Giving them toilets, giving them garbage cans.
00:23:26.000 They've taken over the city and it's turning into a bleep show immediately.
00:23:31.000 As you would predict.
00:23:33.000 As you would predict.
00:23:34.000 You know, there may come a point here where Americans are out, where it turns out that the semantic overload that is associated with the phrase Black Lives Matter, if it includes nonsense like this, people are gonna be like, you know what?
00:23:45.000 I'm out.
00:23:45.000 I'm out, man.
00:23:46.000 Of course I believe Black Lives Matter, because, duh, this is perfectly obvious.
00:23:51.000 But if you're suggesting that I am supposed to buy into this nonsense, I'm gonna go no on that.
00:23:56.000 But we may not have hit that point yet, because white liberals have to demonstrate how guilty they feel.
00:24:01.000 See, this is all virtue signaling.
00:24:03.000 They have to demonstrate that they are actually okay with rioting and looting.
00:24:03.000 This is all virtue signaling.
00:24:06.000 Otherwise, they're demonstrating their own white privilege.
00:24:08.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:24:10.000 First, let us talk about the fact that sleep is hard to come by these days.
00:24:14.000 Between everything going on in the world and the fact that you're home with your kids all the time and your kids are incredibly stressful, you probably need a great mattress.

00:25:03.000 That is helixsleep.com slash Ben.
00:25:06.000 My wife and I have a Helix Sleep mattress.
00:25:07.000 It's fantastic.
00:25:08.000 It was personalized for us.
00:25:09.000 We sleep like babies on it.
00:25:10.000 Go check it out right now.
00:25:11.000 Get up to 200 bucks off at helixsleep.com slash Ben.
00:25:14.000 Okay, so the supposedly benevolent white liberal Who's willing to overlook the nonsense that is happening right now is not in fact helping black people.
00:25:23.000 It turns out that if you want to lower crime rates in black communities, you need police officers there.
00:25:28.000 There are some 7,500 black Americans who are shot and killed every year in the United States, and nine of them are shot and killed unarmed by the police.
00:25:36.000 And if you actually want to talk about how many Americans are in danger.
00:25:40.000 You have to talk about who actually is being shot and killed and who is being protected and all the rest.
00:25:44.000 But we're not going to do that.
00:25:45.000 Instead, we're going to see white politicians demonstrating their awareness of their own white privilege by basically suggesting that any behavior is tolerable so long as it comes from people who are members of a historically oppressed minority group.
00:25:59.000 This is why you see the governor of Washington, Jay Inslee.
00:26:01.000 He was asked about the fact that there is now a new state in Seattle, Chaz, the state of Chaz.
00:26:07.000 And Jay Enzu's like, what?
00:26:08.000 That's not happening.
00:26:09.000 Really?
00:26:09.000 Like, I didn't know about that.
00:26:10.000 Really?
00:26:11.000 Yes, I am sure he did not know about that.
00:26:13.000 Do you remember that situation a few years back where the Bundy family got in a standoff with the federal government because they had been allowing their cattle to graze on land that they had historically been allowing their cattle to graze on, and it was endangering like a wild turtle or something?
00:26:26.000 And so the EPA came down on them, and the Bureau of the Interior came down on them, and there was this armed standoff.
00:26:32.000 It was a national news story, and it was demonstrative of these crazy people who were standing people off on their own ranch.
00:26:39.000 That was a national news story.
00:26:41.000 You have Seattle being taken over by Black Lives Matter activists and turned into a quasi-armed police state, and the governor of the state's like, really?
00:26:51.000 Me?
00:26:52.000 No, I have nothing to say about this.
00:26:53.000 Here's Jay Inslee pretending he doesn't know things.
00:26:56.000 Governor, I'd like to ask you about what's going on in Seattle.
00:26:59.000 There's this thing called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.
00:27:02.000 What's your thought on that?
00:27:03.000 The fact that the protesters have taken that over and not allowing people to come and go freely?
00:27:07.000 And then, regarding the People Guard.
00:27:10.000 Well, that's news to me, so I'll have to reserve any comment about it.
00:27:14.000 I have not heard anything about that from any credible source.
00:27:20.000 Not that you're not credible, it's just like, before I espouse an opinion, I should know of which I speak.
00:27:29.000 Okay, he has no idea what's going on.
00:27:30.000 It's all confusing.
00:27:31.000 What's going on?
00:27:32.000 Okay, so what that really is, is a bunch of people who wish to turn a blind eye Too bad behavior.
00:27:38.000 There's a great article by Greg Jaffe over at the Washington Post about this particular phenomenon.
00:27:42.000 And it basically is just radical chic.
00:27:43.000 So back in the 1960s, there's a piece written by Tom Wolfe, the late Tom Wolfe, great piece called Radical Chic.
00:27:50.000 And the entire piece was about Black Panthers being ushered up to this posh penthouse owned by Leonard Bernstein.
00:27:55.000 And these Black Panthers were being shown off as almost totems of wokeness.
00:27:59.000 They would walk around and they would literally say to the white people at these parties, yeah, we want to off the pigs.
00:28:03.000 And the white people like, oh my God, that's so charming and it's so refreshing and it's so down to earth.
00:28:07.000 And it was these upper class white liberals being protected by the cops who were out there like, look at these amazing Black Panthers and their authenticity.
00:28:16.000 It's just incredible.
00:28:17.000 This is what you are getting right now from a wider segment of the population.
00:28:21.000 Because if you do not bow to the narrative that America is systemically evil and racist, then obviously you're part of the problem.
00:28:27.000 So you can buy your way out of woke jail by simply acknowledging your privilege.
00:28:31.000 But only for the moment, because the moment you acknowledge your privilege, then they just resurface old stuff you've said, and then they hold that over your head forever.
00:28:36.000 That's the way this routine works.
00:28:37.000 So, there's this piece over at the Washington Post, it is called, Now, here's the question.
00:28:45.000 Do you really think they're embracing these ideas?
00:28:47.000 Or do you think they are posturing for the love of their social media groups?
00:28:51.000 And that when they are actually bedding down at night, they're thinking to themselves as the gunshots go off around the corner, man, I'm so glad that I've gotten woke.
00:29:01.000 Do you think that many Americans are thinking that right now?
00:29:04.000 Because again, what we're talking about here is not white support for the Black Lives Matter notion.
00:29:08.000 What we're talking about is white support specifically in this Washington Post piece for violence and looting.
00:29:13.000 Quote, three days after a police officer knelt on George Floyd's neck killing him, and only a few hours after enraged looters ransacked a Target and torched an AutoZone, Meredith Webb woke to an early morning message from a close friend across the street.
00:29:23.000 Beloved city, so much pain, the text from her neighbor Michelle Garvey read.
00:29:27.000 Exploding pain, replied Webb, who had seen the news and cried.
00:29:29.000 Can we talk outside in a little while?
00:29:32.000 Theirs was a block of mostly white liberal families tucked inside cute bungalows with carefully tended gardens and century-old shade trades.
00:29:38.000 The two women met on the sidewalk where their sons, ages 5 and 7, had spent much of the last few weeks racing back and forth on their bikes and scooters.
00:29:44.000 On this morning, their conversation turned to the looting and fires that had unfolded just a few miles from their homes.
00:29:48.000 To Garvey, 39, the destruction of the Target and surrounding stores was sad, but understandable, quote, a perfectly warranted and justified response, an expression of righteous rage.
00:29:58.000 Web 33 wasn't there yet.
00:29:59.000 She felt a little guilty about it.
00:30:01.000 I wasn't sure what side I was supposed to be on, she recalled.
00:30:03.000 It felt wrong to say, we're with you until you start looting.
00:30:06.000 Why is that wrong?
00:30:07.000 Now, the reality is that that's exactly the right message.
00:30:11.000 We're with you until you start looting is exactly the right message.
00:30:14.000 We agree with what you are basically saying about police brutality.
00:30:17.000 Even if you say, I'm with you on police brutality, I'm not with you on systemic American racism.
00:30:21.000 But, say whatever you want, when you start looting, it's over, man.
00:30:25.000 We are done.
00:30:26.000 No, you have to suggest that it is justified response, a perfectly warranted and justified response in order to be initiated into the woke crew.
00:30:34.000 Has it occurred to anybody what a soft bigotry of law expectations this is?
00:30:39.000 That when you're angry you get to burn down a target, but only if you're a member of a particular racial group pushing a particular racial narrative?
00:30:44.000 That if Asians were angry over affirmative action policies at colleges that ban their kids from schools, and they went and burned down some local stores, do you think there would be any level of sympathy for that at all?
00:30:54.000 The answer of course is no.
00:30:55.000 It is soft bigotry of law expectations not to say to people you're not allowed to burn crap down and take over large swaths of cities.
00:31:03.000 But according to the Washington Post, there is a change in white liberal attitudes.
00:31:06.000 One liberal journalist has described it a great awokening.
00:31:10.000 It seems to mirror what has happened in recent weeks in Minneapolis, where throngs of white protesters like Webb and Garvey have taken to the streets to cheer on black speakers as they blast the city's police force, attack its largely left-leaning leadership, and decry systemic racism.
00:31:22.000 Webb said she turned to Garvey for solace in the wake of that first wave of looting and fires because she was sad, scared, and needed to talk with someone in person.
00:31:28.000 Where does this go next, she worried?
00:31:29.000 Is our neighborhood gonna burn?
00:31:31.000 But she also knew her friend would be a gut check.
00:31:33.000 I didn't want to let myself default to the simplistic reaction of wanting this all to go away.
00:31:38.000 So, I guess you're not supposed to worry about the fact that there were people who are, you know, you're worried about burning down your house.
00:31:45.000 I mean, I think the best part of this article, by the way, is there is part of the article where they talk about police officers.
00:31:54.000 OK, so Ilhan Omar showed up at a rally.
00:31:56.000 She said that people were using taxpayer dollars to quote police and brutalize our young children in our schools, which is just absurd.
00:32:03.000 To every single person who has remained silent and been complicit, this is the time we step up and show the world what we're made of, the congresswoman shouted.
00:32:09.000 Yes!
00:32:10.000 Webb replied.
00:32:11.000 About a dozen black high school students shifted uneasily and waited for their time to talk.
00:32:15.000 When it was their turn, they spoke about Charles Adams Jr., the African-American police officer who kept their school safe and coached their high school football team.
00:32:21.000 Now they worried he was going to be forced from their school.
00:32:24.000 To me, I have my dad first and second to that is Officer Adams, said one student.
00:32:27.000 Officer Adams is like the father I didn't have, added another.
00:32:29.000 He makes me feel like myself.
00:32:31.000 Last up was a history teacher from the school.
00:32:33.000 I beg you.
00:32:34.000 I beg you.
00:32:34.000 Look at these young men.
00:32:35.000 They came on their own because they're worried about their safety and losing someone they consider a family member.
00:32:40.000 Webb listened carefully.
00:32:41.000 It's complicated, she whispered to a friend.
00:32:43.000 Maybe he should be a teacher, the friend suggested.
00:32:45.000 Maybe he could be brought back to the school in some other role, Webb replied.
00:32:50.000 So basically, you have a bunch of young black students, they're like, you know what, this cop, he's like a dad to me.
00:32:55.000 And the white liberal woke lady, she's like, well, I'm sorry, we're going to have to stop that.
00:32:59.000 Because, you know, in the name of social justice, we have to stop that.
00:33:01.000 This is pure, simple nonsense.
00:33:03.000 It is pure, simple nonsense.
00:33:05.000 And the white woke liberal is one of the dumbest species of Americans.
00:33:11.000 I mean, it's just incredibly dumb.
00:33:12.000 Incredibly, incredibly dumb.
00:33:13.000 And by the way, you're not buying a space in heaven, in secular heaven for any of this.
00:33:17.000 All you're doing is exacerbating a catastrophically chaotic and divisive situation in a time when we should all be unified.
00:33:24.000 I keep saying this on the show.
00:33:25.000 We should all be unified.
00:33:26.000 Instead, what we are going to do is demand things.
00:33:29.000 We're going to demand that you bow before the narrative.
00:33:33.000 And the narrative, of course, is that systemic racism is endemic to the United States.
00:33:38.000 If you acknowledge that, then you're no longer part of the systemic racism.
00:33:40.000 But you sort of are, you know, because you're white and all of that.
00:33:43.000 But if you deny it, you're for sure part of the systemic racism.
00:33:45.000 Don Lemon, the very objective news anchor over at CNN, incredibly objective Don Lemon, real expert on racial issues, Don Lemon, he says it's white entitlement to deny systemic racism.
00:33:54.000 It's white entitlement.
00:33:56.000 Now, does he cite any statistics to demonstrate that systemic racism is the problem in the United States?
00:34:01.000 He does not.
00:34:02.000 But, if you suggest that it is not, then obviously this is white entitlement.
00:34:05.000 So when Thomas Sowell says not systemic racism, when Walter Williams says not systemic racism, when Larry Elder says not systemic racism, this is because they are white-splaining, obviously.
00:34:15.000 Now, by the way, there is no—the lowest refuge of the illogical, of the illogical grifter, is suggesting they don't have to actually debunk your argument because of who you are.
00:34:26.000 That they don't actually have to come to terms with your argument because they don't like the color of your skin.
00:34:30.000 In any other guise, you'd recognize just how racist this is.
00:34:33.000 But here is Don Lemon suggesting that he doesn't have to provide evidence for his claim because after all, he's a black man in America who's experienced bad things and that means that anybody who says differently on a systemic level, he's not, again, people are not trying to debunk claims that you on an anecdotal level have had bad experiences with the cops.
00:34:47.000 People are pointing out that overall, there is no evidence that the police are disproportionately shooting black people in proportion to criminal activity.
00:34:55.000 Or that the police are systemically racist.
00:34:57.000 The evidence for this is extraordinarily scanty.
00:35:00.000 But if you say that, then apparently that's white-splaining according to Don Lemon.
00:35:03.000 And so you will be made to repent.
00:35:06.000 You must repent.
00:35:09.000 White men denying the existence of systemic racism, that is the essence of white entitlement.
00:35:18.000 We do not need their permission or their sign-off on what we know to be true and what we have lived.
00:35:26.000 That is white mansplaining.
00:35:31.000 How can you solve this problem, the systemic racism that is killing people of color, if you won't even admit there is a problem?
00:35:41.000 Well, how do you solve a problem when you won't even define the problem?
00:35:44.000 Because when you say systemic racism is killing people of color, that is the most vague statement I could possibly imagine.
00:35:48.000 How about you name the policy that's killing people of color, or you name the person who's killing people of color, and then we can talk about it.
00:35:53.000 I mean, you could literally fill in the phrase systemic racism there with, blah, blah, is killing people of color.
00:35:58.000 Like, I don't know what that means.
00:36:00.000 Explain to me what that means, and then I can help.
00:36:02.000 But I can't help if you're just going to shout systemic racism, and then when you say, okay, what do you mean by that?
00:36:06.000 Can you clarify what policy you're talking about?
00:36:07.000 Oh, if you don't understand, it's because you're just white.
00:36:11.000 Come on.
00:36:11.000 Come on.
00:36:12.000 Now the good news is that we are living full-scale George Orwell at this point.
00:36:18.000 We're literally changing terms in the dictionary.
00:36:20.000 Also, we are watching the teardown of statues.
00:36:23.000 And these statues are being torn down on the simple basis not that the Confederacy was bad, which it was, and evil.
00:36:29.000 We're talking about tearing down statues of Columbus.
00:36:31.000 We're talking about tearing down statues of the founding fathers, right?
00:36:33.000 The point is the broader destruction of American history.
00:36:37.000 This is not about a Jefferson Davis statue.
00:36:39.000 And it never really was because, again, the attempts to tear down statues are not relegated to simply old Confederate monuments.
00:36:45.000 There's an argument that cities should take those statues down.
00:36:48.000 I understand the argument.
00:36:49.000 Those should be done through democratic means.
00:36:51.000 But the notion that, first of all, protesters get to go and just take down statues of those, this is post-Saddam Hussein Iraq, and you're tearing down statues of Saddam.
00:37:00.000 Like, again, the regime that exists is a democratic regime.
00:37:03.000 In a lot of these cities, there are democratic mayors.
00:37:06.000 You want to vote to get rid of this?
00:37:07.000 Fine, do it.
00:37:08.000 Seriously, do it.
00:37:10.000 But the notion that we are supposed to watch idly as protesters tear down statues, by the way, is kind of a dangerous thing as we found out yesterday.
00:37:16.000 We're going to get to, I mean, physically dangerous.
00:37:18.000 We're going to get to this in just one second.

00:39:21.000 Also, as I've been mentioning, I have a brand new book.
00:39:22.000 It is coming out July 21st, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.
00:39:25.000 We are watching the left do this in real time.
00:39:28.000 The book isn't just about how the left and many who are not even politically affiliated.
00:39:33.000 Are seeking to disintegrate the country.
00:39:34.000 I mean, we are watching the disintegration of the country in real time as a huge group of Americans decide that we no longer have a shared philosophy, that the philosophy of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution is evil.
00:39:44.000 We don't have a shared history.
00:39:45.000 The history of America is exploitation and brutality, which is why we got to tear down statues of Christopher Columbus.
00:39:50.000 And we don't have a shared culture of rights because rights themselves are discriminatory.
00:39:54.000 Freedom of speech is discriminatory because people who are richer have more freedom of speech.
00:39:58.000 So we have to quash the voiced in favor of the voiceless, right?
00:40:02.000 All of this is incredibly divisive.
00:40:03.000 It destroys the country.
00:40:04.000 The book isn't just an indictment of that, of those ideas.
00:40:08.000 It is a rebuttal to those ideas and a very useful tool for you to understand exactly what's going on in the country and how to rebut the lies that you're seeing in the media every single day.
00:40:15.000 I think the book is deeply important.
00:40:17.000 You can go to dailywire.com slash Ben to pre-order the book today, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.
00:40:23.000 Dailywire.com slash Ben, go ahead and pre-order it today.

00:40:35.000 I think, again, it is a deeply important book.
00:40:38.000 I very rarely pitch my own work that way, but I really, I think this is a, it's something that I think Is worth your time and worth the read in this environment, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.
00:40:47.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:40:51.000 So we are we are watching the Orwellian redefinition of terms and history in real time.
00:41:03.000 It truly is.
00:41:03.000 It's incredible.
00:41:04.000 Because instead of just making an argument with, you know, the language that we have constantly shared, and arguing in terms that we all understand, instead we're just going to redefine the terms.
00:41:12.000 Which is a very old and very ugly trick.
00:41:16.000 If you redefine terms in order to make it so that you say, well, the dictionary definition of this thing now reflects what I want it to.
00:41:22.000 Yeah, you changed the dictionary five seconds ago.
00:41:23.000 Perfect example.
00:41:24.000 So Merriam-Webster had a definition of racism.
00:41:27.000 Their definition of racism was a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities, and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race.
00:41:38.000 That seems like a fairly good definition to me.
00:41:40.000 It's about racial superiority.
00:41:41.000 So white supremacy is an aspect of racism.
00:41:45.000 And then, Merriam-Webster, at the behest of a 22-year-old wokester, decided to email them his recent graduate of Drake University, Kennedy Mitchum.
00:41:57.000 She said, should get into arguments with people who pointed to that definition of racism to support their position.
00:42:01.000 In other words, probably what people were saying is, if you are, what I'm saying isn't racist, racism is about superiority of one race over another.
00:42:09.000 Or, when you say bad things about white people, that's also racist.
00:42:12.000 So, this person emailed Miriam Webster, She said, I basically told them they need to include that there is some systematic oppression on people.
00:42:19.000 It's not just I don't like someone.
00:42:21.000 It's a system of oppression for a certain group of people.
00:42:22.000 OK, notice this has been a long time left-wing trope.
00:42:25.000 The left-wing trope is that racism is not just you discriminating against a person.
00:42:30.000 It is a racist feeling combined with power.
00:42:32.000 And this alleviates any need to look at the racism that comes from, quote unquote, dispossessed groups.
00:42:38.000 So if there is a black American who says something racist about white Americans, like all white Americans are bad and racist and part of a supremacist system.
00:42:44.000 If you say that and a white person says, that sounds kind of racist to me.
00:42:46.000 You're judging me on the basis of my skin.
00:42:47.000 They say, right, but I'm not part of the system of power.
00:42:50.000 You're part of the system of power.
00:42:51.000 So I can't be racist because I'm not part of the system of power.
00:42:55.000 So this is twisting the definition.
00:42:57.000 I mean, this is literal Orwellian redefining of words in order to achieve a political result.
00:43:04.000 The revision would not have been made without your persistence in contacting us about this problem, said Alex Chamber, the editor of Merriam-Webster.
00:43:11.000 We sincerely thank you for repeatedly writing in and apologize for the harm and offense we have caused in failing to address the issue sooner.
00:43:16.000 I will cede to it that the entry for racism is given the attention it sorely needs.
00:43:20.000 Peter Sokolowski, an editor-at-large at Merriam-Webster, said in a statement, the second definition of racism expressed, first, explicit institutional bias against people because of their race, and second, a broader implicit bias that can result in an asymmetrical power structure.
00:43:33.000 So now they're going to redefine racism to mean there is asymmetry in power or in outcome.
00:43:41.000 And that means broader implicit bias.
00:43:43.000 So, again, this is now redefining the term racism to just say that inequality is racism.
00:43:47.000 Okay, you're redefining the dictionary.
00:43:49.000 God, this is too on the nose.
00:43:50.000 It's too on the nose, guys.
00:43:51.000 I mean, honestly, if you're gonna redo 1984, you really have to, like, tone it down a little bit so it's a little more subtle.
00:43:57.000 Like, having a full-on department of words to go ahead and just redefine everything according to your lines, it's a little on the nose.
00:44:03.000 I gotta say, it's a little on the nose.
00:44:05.000 The writers this season, they've been too on the nose.
00:44:08.000 Meanwhile, police are allowing people to tear down statues.
00:44:11.000 Just allowing it.
00:44:12.000 There's a Columbus statue that was torn down by protesters.
00:44:15.000 Now, you might say to yourself, what does Columbus have to do with anything?
00:44:18.000 Was Columbus a member of the brutal police department?
00:44:20.000 Was Columbus a confederate?
00:44:22.000 No, Columbus is bad because Columbus represents Western civilization arriving on American shores.
00:44:26.000 That's why Columbus is bad.
00:44:27.000 This all goes back to the rewriting of American history, pushed forward by Howard Zinn.
00:44:32.000 So Howard Zinn really, like, he begins his crappy book, A People's History of the United States, with Columbus, in which Columbus is a brutal warlord victimizing peaceful narratives.
00:44:42.000 And then he says, and this is a direct quote from Howard Zinn, he says, So America was all about privilege in the first place?
00:44:47.000 called the United States, was formed, designed to, quote, create a consensus of popular support for the rule of a new privileged leadership.
00:44:52.000 So America was all about privilege in the first place.
00:44:55.000 He suggests that Columbus was just Western brutality writ small.
00:44:59.000 He says Columbus and his successors were not coming into an empty wilderness, but into a world where human relations were more egalitarian than in Europe, where the relations among men, women, and children in nature were more beautifully worked out than perhaps any place in the world.
00:45:12.000 So the New World was really not unoccupied, which of course is true, but it was occupied.
00:45:17.000 It was a Rousseauian paradise.
00:45:17.000 It was paradisiacal.
00:45:19.000 And then Columbus arrived with his evil Western civilization.
00:45:22.000 And because of Western civilization, capitalist exploitation hit these shores.
00:45:25.000 Now, let's be real about this.
00:45:27.000 Columbus did some real bad stuff.
00:45:30.000 Columbus did some real bad stuff.
00:45:31.000 Mostly the people working for Columbus did some real bad stuff.
00:45:34.000 Columbus was more tolerant than the people who worked for him, for sure, by all available documentation.
00:45:38.000 But you don't have to excuse Columbus's behavior to point out that the history of humanity has been conquest and imperialism, and that existed far before Columbus ever hit the shores of the United States, or hit the shores of the Western Hemisphere.
00:45:50.000 That existed for a long time.
00:45:52.000 The only reason to single out Columbus as particularly bad and imperialist and terrible and colonialist is because you don't like Western civilization very much.
00:45:59.000 That's the real reason that people are angry at Columbus these days.
00:46:03.000 And this rests on, again, the idea that you can take Columbus out of history and treat him in isolation as opposed to the fact that human history is replete with oppression and evil and brutality.
00:46:11.000 And Columbus was involved in some of those things.
00:46:13.000 But it is a very good thing on net that Western civilization arrived in the New World.
00:46:18.000 And by the way, the entire Howard's End narrative that everything was peaceful and wonderful in the New World before Columbus got there is obviously just tripe.
00:46:24.000 I mean, Steven Pinker writes, Contra leftist anthropologists who celebrate the noble savage, quantitative body counts such as proportion of prehistoric skeletons with ax marks and embedded arrowheads or the proportion of men in a contemporary foraging tribe who die at the hands of other men suggest that pre-state societies were far more violent than our own.
00:46:42.000 Now this doesn't mean the Arawaks weren't peaceful.
00:46:44.000 They were, by all available evidence.
00:46:46.000 This does mean that if you're going to look at history, you actually have to look at history.
00:46:49.000 The left never provides context for this sort of stuff.
00:46:51.000 Because if they provided context, then you might be forced to judge whether it's a good thing, on average, that Western civilization rose.
00:46:58.000 By the way, it claims that Columbus genocided Native Americans is not correct.
00:46:58.000 Or not.
00:47:02.000 The depopulation of Natives after contact with Europeans was basically the result of disease to which Natives had no immunity in the same way that one of the reasons that Africa was originally protected in the early days from colonialism was specifically because Europeans had no immunity to many of the diseases that ran rampant in Africa.
00:47:16.000 Okay, so in any case, that's just some backdrop.
00:47:18.000 So, there's been this effort to tear down statues of Columbus.
00:47:21.000 And this is much worse, by the way, than tearing down statues of Confederate generals and soldiers.
00:47:26.000 Like, I actually have some sympathy for the position that Confederate statues should be removed.
00:47:31.000 Because, while I don't like statues being removed generally, I don't, I at least get the argument.
00:47:36.000 I don't like statues being removed generally because I think that monuments to the stupidity of man are good.
00:47:40.000 I think it is good that people see those statues.
00:47:41.000 This is Condoleezza Rice's argument, I think it's correct.
00:47:43.000 It is good that people see those statues and point to it and say there was a time in this country where people like this, slaveholder, were glorified.
00:47:49.000 And thank God we've moved beyond that, but we should always remember the dark history of this country so that we can move beyond that.
00:47:55.000 That seems like a reasonable argument to me.
00:47:57.000 But if you are going to remove the statues, you should at least do so through law.
00:48:01.000 Instead, police are just letting mobs tear down these statues.
00:48:05.000 And by the way, it's damned dangerous.
00:48:07.000 In Richmond, Virginia, there are some people who are attempting to pull down a statue of a Confederate soldier.
00:48:12.000 I guess it's an unknown Confederate soldier.
00:48:14.000 And they literally pulled it down onto the head of a protester who may die.
00:48:17.000 I mean, the protester came down and cracked the guy directly on the skull.
00:48:21.000 Like, his skull was exposed.
00:48:23.000 Hey, this is genius stuff.
00:48:24.000 Where are the cops for this, by the way?
00:48:26.000 I thought that law and order was supposed to be a thing.
00:48:27.000 You want to remove... I mean, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:48:29.000 You want to remove these statues.
00:48:31.000 How about you do so by, like, just going to your legislators?
00:48:34.000 There are open discussions right now in Mississippi, by the way, between Democrats and Republicans about changing the state flag.
00:48:39.000 Doing stuff through Democratic means is a good thing.
00:48:42.000 Going and tearing down statues by yourself, not a good thing.
00:48:44.000 And you know what else is not a good thing?
00:48:45.000 Allowing a statue in Minneapolis that was crafted by an Italian immigrant who helped build Grand Central Station and his son, who was given during the Great Depression as a symbol of the acceptance of Italian immigrants in Minnesota, according to Ben Dominic at The Federalist, Protesters, this isn't a protest by the way, this is an act of vandalism, yanked down a Christopher Columbus statue outside the Minneapolis State Capitol in St.
00:49:07.000 Paul yesterday.
00:49:08.000 The police were warned about this like 90 minutes in advance and they did nothing.
00:49:13.000 They did nothing.
00:49:14.000 Law and order has completely disintegrated.
00:49:16.000 Completely disintegrated.
00:49:17.000 I mean, the video is pretty astonishing.
00:49:20.000 Again, where are the cops?
00:49:22.000 Where are the cops?
00:49:23.000 Even if you think that Christopher Columbus's statue ought to be removed, which I do not.
00:49:26.000 Even if you think that that's the case, Allowing protesters to just run up and tear down monuments they don't like, that's not law and order.
00:49:33.000 That is not living in a civilized society.
00:49:36.000 By the way, if you think it's going to stop here, it ain't.
00:49:37.000 There are certain black leaders who are calling for the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial to be removed.
00:49:43.000 Because after all, we have to talk about the fact that they were slaveholders.
00:49:46.000 And we can't put them into historical context and point out that slavery was the common lot of man throughout the 18th century.
00:49:52.000 We cannot point out that the actual monuments that were built to Washington and Jefferson do not honor slavery.
00:49:57.000 They honor their contributions to human freedom that have come to full fruition in the United States.
00:50:02.000 Instead, we got to talk about removing statues of the founding fathers.
00:50:05.000 Removing America's history is the key because American history is bad and wrong and evil, and that's the agenda here.
00:50:10.000 The agenda is not alleviating pain.
00:50:12.000 It is excoriating American history and suggesting we have nothing in common but the revolution.
00:50:17.000 Here are Angela Rye and other commentators suggesting that it's time for the takedown of Jefferson statues in the Washington Memorial.
00:50:26.000 American history is not all glorious, and even though I love John to death, I couldn't disagree more about George Washington.
00:50:33.000 George Washington was a slave owner, and we need to call slave owners out for what they are.
00:50:37.000 Whether we think they were protecting American freedom or not, he wasn't protecting my freedom.
00:50:42.000 I wasn't someone who my ancestors weren't deemed human beings to him.
00:50:45.000 And so to me, I don't care if it's a George Washington statue, or a Thomas Jefferson statue, or a Robert E. Lee statue, they all need to come down.
00:50:54.000 They all need to come down.
00:50:55.000 All of American history needs to come down.
00:50:56.000 You can't see America as the story of an attempt to fulfill our founding philosophy to which America fell short.
00:51:01.000 No, all of it has to come down.
00:51:03.000 All of it has to come down.
00:51:04.000 And so we are doing this with monuments.
00:51:07.000 We are doing this with culture.
00:51:09.000 We are doing this in every aspect of American life.
00:51:11.000 When people signed on to the Black Lives Matter slogan, they did not sign up for this.
00:51:15.000 They didn't.
00:51:16.000 When people signed up for the, we care about black lives and don't want to see black people killed, that was not signing up for America is systemically evil and racist and horrible in every possible way and tear down the Washington monument.
00:51:25.000 No one signed up for this.
00:51:27.000 No one signed up for this.
00:51:28.000 Or if they did, it is a vast minority.
00:51:30.000 And the media's attempt to broaden that out to a majority is going to be wildly unsuccessful.
00:51:33.000 And by the way, counterproductive.
00:51:34.000 Because whatever you are trying to do, you're going to need some level of unity to accomplish it.
00:51:38.000 Instead, you've decided that the narrative was more important than any actual change.
00:51:42.000 You want to undermine change?
00:51:43.000 Make the agenda so broad that nobody agrees on it.
00:51:46.000 And that's exactly what's going on right now.
00:51:48.000 Okay, meanwhile...
00:51:50.000 The culture is fragmenting as well because everything has to be removed now.
00:51:54.000 Everything has to be removed.
00:51:56.000 Not just the statues.
00:51:57.000 And we're not even talking about statues of Confederate generals.
00:52:00.000 We're talking about statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.
00:52:03.000 Those have to be removed.
00:52:04.000 But not just those.
00:52:05.000 We now have to make sure that no one ever sees a depiction of a good cop.
00:52:10.000 Cops have to be perceived as uniquely evil in American life.
00:52:14.000 How crazy has this become?
00:52:16.000 This has become so crazy that protesters are coming for Paw Patrol.
00:52:19.000 Paw Patrol.
00:52:21.000 You stupid asses.
00:52:23.000 Paw Patrol?
00:52:24.000 Are you kidding me?
00:52:26.000 Coming for McGruff the crime dog here.
00:52:28.000 Paw Patrol is a children's cartoon, according to the New York Times, about a squad of canine helpers.
00:52:32.000 It's basically a pretense for placing household pets in a variety of cool trucks.
00:52:36.000 The team includes Marshall, a firefighting Dalmatian, Rubble, a bulldog construction worker, and Chase, a German shepherd who's also a cop.
00:52:43.000 In the world of Paw Patrol, Chase is drawn to be a very good boy who barks stuff like, Chase is on the case, and all in a police pup's day as he rescues kittens in his tricked out SUV.
00:52:51.000 But last week, when the show's official Twitter account put out a bland call for black voices to be heard, commentators came after Chase.
00:52:57.000 Euthanize the police dog, they said.
00:52:59.000 Defund the Paw Patrol.
00:53:01.000 All dogs go to heaven except the class traitors in the Paw Patrol.
00:53:04.000 It's a joke, but it's also not, says the New York Times.
00:53:06.000 As the protests against racist police violence entered their third week, the changes are mounting against fictional cops, too.
00:53:11.000 Even big-hearted cartoon police dogs, or maybe especially big-hearted cartoon police dogs, are on notice.
00:53:17.000 The effort to publicize police brutality also means banishing the good cop archetype, which relies on both TV and in viral videos of the protests themselves, which reigns on both TV and in viral videos.
00:53:26.000 Paw Patrol seems harmless enough, and that's the point.
00:53:29.000 The movement rests on understanding that cops do plenty of harm.
00:53:32.000 What we actually need is we need a more accurate depiction of Paw Patrol, apparently.
00:53:35.000 What we need is for Chase, the good German shepherd, to apparently be chasing down, like, only puppies of color.
00:53:42.000 Like, that's what we actually need in order to reflect the evils of America's policing system.
00:53:47.000 Like, this is such bullcrap.
00:53:49.000 I'm sorry, did anyone sign up for this?
00:53:50.000 Anyone?
00:53:52.000 Now Disney fans are saying that Splash Mountain needs to update because it's racist.
00:53:56.000 Splash Mountain is racist.
00:53:58.000 Now, maybe you've been on Splash Mountain, and maybe you thought to yourself, wait a second, there are no people in this ride.
00:54:03.000 Like, literally no people in this ride.
00:54:05.000 It's all animals.
00:54:06.000 How is this racist?
00:54:07.000 Exactly.
00:54:08.000 Well, let me tell you.
00:54:10.000 It includes a song, Zip-a-dee-doo-dah.
00:54:12.000 You know the song.
00:54:13.000 Did you know that that song came originally from a 1946 film called Song of the South that is considered to be racist because it relies on stereotypes of black people and a nostalgic view of the antebellum South?
00:54:24.000 Did you notice this?
00:54:26.000 You didn't?
00:54:27.000 Because it's not in the ride?
00:54:28.000 You didn't notice this?
00:54:30.000 Okay, so maybe the song came from a racist film from 1946.
00:54:33.000 Also, did you know that?
00:54:35.000 Did you?
00:54:36.000 I did because I'm a Disney aficionado.
00:54:37.000 But did you know that?
00:54:38.000 Did any of the millions of people who visited Splash Mountain, were they going through Splash Mountain and thinking to themselves, oh man, man, is this ride about a fox and a bear and an alligator and everything?
00:54:48.000 Every time I go down that giant drop, I think to myself, God, systemic racism in America.
00:54:53.000 Is it really?
00:54:54.000 Really?
00:54:56.000 Fans have offered a solution to re-theme the ride.
00:54:59.000 One fan took to Twitter to showcase his concept for a princess and the frog theme.
00:55:03.000 Genius.
00:55:05.000 Beautiful.
00:55:05.000 Beautiful stuff, guys.
00:55:06.000 You're really making America a better place by destroying Splash Mountain.
00:55:10.000 Excellent, excellent work, everyone.
00:55:12.000 Just slow clap.
00:55:14.000 Slow clap for making the culture a better place, guys.
00:55:16.000 Great stuff.
00:55:17.000 Also, A&E is canceling Live PD, which makes perfect sense, because Live PD also has a segment near the end of the show about missing children.
00:55:23.000 So it's good to take shows off TV that actually try to help missing children at the end, because we can never have any depictions of cops that are good.
00:55:28.000 Cops are uniquely bad.
00:55:30.000 And the fact of this is going to be that cops are just not going to join forces, I mean, is what's going to happen.
00:55:35.000 You're going to see a massive drop off in the number of people who join police forces.
00:55:41.000 According to A&E, Live PD host Dan Abrams went to all of you asking whether Live PD is coming back.
00:55:47.000 The answer is yes.
00:55:48.000 All of us associated with the show are as committed to it as ever.
00:55:50.000 We are still discussing some specifics, but I want to assure you, you Live PD nation, that we are not abandoning you.
00:55:55.000 But the network and production company came to the conclusion there's no path forward for the show in its current form, as protesters and politicians are calling for a police reform following the death of Floyd.
00:56:06.000 Amazing.
00:56:07.000 Great stuff.
00:56:08.000 So, Dan Abrams said, So we've taken down Live PD.
00:56:10.000 Excellent work, everyone.
00:56:10.000 U.S.
00:56:11.000 Soccer, by the way, is now going to allow kneeling, which makes perfect sense because U.S.
00:56:13.000 could to fight for you and for our continuing effort at transparency in policing.
00:56:17.000 So we've taken down Live PD.
00:56:19.000 Excellent work, everyone.
00:56:20.000 U.S. soccer, by the way, is now going to allow kneeling, which makes perfect sense because U.S. soccer represents the United States.
00:56:26.000 That makes perfect It is a soccer team that is literally called U.S.
00:56:30.000 Soccer.
00:56:30.000 So it makes perfect sense that you would allow people to kneel for the American flag and the national anthem while playing for U.S.
00:56:36.000 Soccer.
00:56:38.000 Imagine for a second that U.S.
00:56:39.000 Soccer were not U.S.
00:56:40.000 Soccer, it were Nike.
00:56:42.000 And the players just said, you know what, Nike does child labor, it breaks child labor laws, so I'm wearing Reeboks on the field.
00:56:47.000 You think Nike stands for it for half a second?
00:56:49.000 They kneel for the Nike slogan.
00:56:51.000 Every time there's a swoosh that comes across the giant scoreboard, everybody just kneels.
00:56:55.000 You think anybody goes for that?
00:56:56.000 But apparently the U.S.
00:56:57.000 Soccer Federation has now repealed the league's three-year-old ban on kneeling during the national anthem.
00:57:03.000 U.S.
00:57:03.000 Soccer said, it has become clear that this policy was wrong and detracted from the important message of Black Lives Matter.
00:57:08.000 Again, Black Lives Matter does not require you to kneel for the national anthem.
00:57:11.000 Black Lives Matter, the message, not the group.
00:57:13.000 Black Lives Matter does not require you to kneel for the American flag.
00:57:18.000 None of that is required.
00:57:20.000 But the idea is that you have to be okay with people kneeling for the flag if you believe that Black Lives Matter, which is an asinine contention.
00:57:27.000 How bad is this stupidity getting?
00:57:28.000 It's getting so stupid that the American Statistical Association, everyone is forced to comply.
00:57:33.000 I've gotten so many notes from people who are working at major corporations and companies who are now being force-fed propaganda about how America is systemically racist.
00:57:42.000 And if you do not acquiesce to that idea, then your job may be on the chopping block.
00:57:48.000 The Wolksters are in control.
00:57:49.000 It's so funny.
00:57:49.000 We've been told that corporations Are the repository of all capitalist right-wing evil in the United States?
00:57:55.000 Ain't seeing a lot of that these days, are you?
00:57:57.000 What I'm seeing is TJ Maxx putting out statements about how woke they are.
00:58:01.000 I mean, like every single corporation putting out statements.
00:58:03.000 Why?
00:58:03.000 Because there are a bunch of staffers inside who will then go on the interwebs and whine about how their company is not taking a strong enough position.
00:58:10.000 Because I needed to know that TJ Maxx wasn't interested in white supremacy.
00:58:12.000 It was big for me.
00:58:15.000 When Gushers did that the other day, I thought to myself, oh good, now I just feel so much better eating a Gusher.
00:58:21.000 Now that Gushers has spoken out about Black Lives Matter.
00:58:24.000 And it's not just that.
00:58:25.000 It's trying to retrain all of their employees in a particular political viewpoint.
00:58:30.000 Is any of this really going to foster unity or is it going to foster a backlash that is going to be bad?
00:58:34.000 When we could all agree on some stuff.
00:58:36.000 The American Statistical Association, which promotes the practice and profession of statistics, put out a statement.
00:58:41.000 We, the three elected presidents of the American Statistical Association, are deeply moved by the tragedies and social upheaval that have unfolded in the past few weeks.
00:58:48.000 As felt by many of you, we too are angered, anguished, and wearied as new names are added to the dreadful roll call of black individuals slain, harmed, or threatened by law enforcement or by vigilantes.
00:58:57.000 As allies, we stand with African Americans and other communities of color as we work to overcome systemic racism in America.
00:59:03.000 Now, I have a question.
00:59:04.000 This is the American Statistical Association.
00:59:06.000 Do they cite any stats in this?
00:59:08.000 No?
00:59:09.000 No?
00:59:09.000 No stats at all?
00:59:10.000 No?
00:59:10.000 You just say systemic racism and now we're all supposed to just go, oh okay, I know exactly what you mean.
00:59:15.000 Great job everybody.
00:59:17.000 By the way, scientists didn't work this week.
00:59:21.000 They didn't work yesterday.
00:59:22.000 Because supposedly science is racist too.
00:59:26.000 We are living through an extraordinarily chaotic moment.
00:59:30.000 We are living through a moment when unity has been transformed into disunity because the narrative that people are attempting to draw is not in consonant with facts.
00:59:37.000 And if you mention this fact, then you're immediately declared to be whitesplaining.
00:59:41.000 Well, how about rebut the arguments instead of just judging anybody on the color of their skin?
00:59:45.000 Seems to me that that should be the modicum of respect that every individual citizen in the United States deserves.
00:59:50.000 Alrighty, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.
00:59:53.000 You're listening to The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:59:59.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is produced by Colton Haas, executive producer Jeremy Boring, supervising producer Mathis Glover and Robert Sterling, assistant director Pavel Lydowsky, technical producer Austin Stevens, playback and media operated by Nick Sheehan, associate producer Katie Swinnerton, edited by Adam Sajovic, audio is mixed by Mike Koromina, hair and makeup is by Nika Geneva.
01:00:19.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is a Daily Wire production, copyright Daily Wire 2020.
01:00:24.000 Leftist rioters tear down more statues, Antifa creates its own police force, and Gone with the Wind gets canceled 80 years after it premiered.
01:00:34.000 Also, The Mailbag.
