Summary

The Anti-Defamation League and PayPal have partnered to crack down on extremism. With daily death rates from COVID now lower than death from Alzheimer s, the media and Democrats pushed the panic button and we examined who s really skipping the vaccination. Ben Shapiro's new book, "The Authoritarian Moment," is now out! You can go purchase it right now at any bookstore or online, go check it out. The reason being, it is quite prescient. And today's story comes from the authoritarian front lines. These are places that were supposed to be neutral service providers. But one of the things that we have seen from the increasingly authoritarian left is the attempt to use all of these neutral service provider as bottlenecks that restrict your ability to speak freely. And technically, that's not bad for the country, because we do have anti-discrimination laws in this country. It applies to race, religion, and sexuality. So if you're a baker, you don't want to bake this cake. You're not doing it on the basis of your politics. Of course, the problem is that every single thing the left has done is politically neutral. They can make whatever call they want about what content they can and cannot engage in. And it's not about your ideology. It's about their politics. And they can do whatever they want, and they're not supposed to have a say in what they're allowed to do, right? This is the way the country is going to be governed by the Constitution, and it's going to work out in the best way possible, right here in the United States, no matter how it's written by the Supreme Court. And we're not going to have it any other way except by the laws we're going to decide that we're supposed to vote on it. We're not allowed to be free, we're gonna have it that way, right or not, and we can choose whether or not we do it the way we like it or not. - Ben Shapiro - The authoritarian moment is out! - My new book is out now. The authoritarism moment is here! - What are you going to do with it? - How do you want to be a free market libertarian in the 21st century version of The Big Little Gulp? - What do you think of it? - How would you like it? I bet it s going to make you feel like it s better than the other way? --

00:01:28.000 Okay, well, quick announcement.
00:01:30.000 My new book, The Authoritarian Moment, is now out.
00:01:32.000 You can go purchase it right now at any bookstore or online.
00:01:35.000 Go check it out.
00:01:36.000 The reason being, it is quite prescient, okay?
00:01:38.000 And today's, today's story from the authoritarian front lines, this is an insane story, but this is the way the country is going to go.
00:01:47.000 Neutral service providers.
00:01:48.000 These are places that just used to provide you services.
00:01:50.000 This is how you think of most of the businesses with which you engage in everyday life.
00:01:54.000 Your insurance company is a neutral service provider.
00:01:56.000 It is supposed to provide you service regardless of race, religion, or creed.
00:02:00.000 Your supermarket, a neutral service provider.
00:02:03.000 Your credit card company is also supposed to be a neutral service provider.
00:02:07.000 Well, certainly PayPal, which is a payment service, right?
00:02:09.000 You use PayPal to pay your bills.
00:02:11.000 That's supposed to be a neutral service provider.
00:02:12.000 But one of the things that we have seen from an increasingly authoritarian left is the attempt to use all of these neutral service providers as bottlenecks that restrict your ability to speak freely, as ways to crack down on the undesirables in the opinion community.
00:02:28.000 We've seen this before.
00:02:29.000 We've seen credit card companies, for example, say that you're not allowed to use their credit cards in order to purchase guns, right?
00:02:34.000 This has become a major issue in the United States.
00:02:37.000 You've also seen places like Amazon Web Services de-platform Parler.
00:02:40.000 Amazon Web Services is a neutral service provider.
00:02:42.000 In the aftermath of January 6th, you saw Amazon Web Services, at the behest of Democrats, crack down on Parler and kick it off its platform.
00:02:49.000 It was removed from Google.
00:02:50.000 It was removed from Apple Store, it was removed nearly everywhere by the tech companies.
00:02:54.000 Again, all of which were supposed to be neutral service providers.
00:02:58.000 This is the big debate over Big Tech.
00:03:00.000 Big Tech, Facebook, is supposed to be a neutral service provider.
00:03:03.000 It is not supposed to crack down on you on the basis of your ideology.
00:03:06.000 Now, there are folks on the left who suddenly become free market libertarians when it comes to this stuff, treating neutral service providers as though they are basically the daily wire.
00:03:14.000 They can make whatever call they want about what content they can and cannot engage in.
00:03:18.000 And technically, that's true.
00:03:19.000 These are not government agencies.
00:03:21.000 When you have neutral service providers that overtly decide they're going to crack down on particular points of view, this is very bad for the country.
00:03:27.000 And we are allowed to point out that this is very bad for the country.
00:03:31.000 Especially because we do have anti-discrimination law in this country.
00:03:34.000 It applies to race.
00:03:35.000 It applies to religion.
00:03:36.000 It now applies to sexual orientation.
00:03:38.000 The one thing it does not apply to is politics.
00:03:41.000 Neutral service providers generally are allowed to deny you service on the basis of your politics.
00:03:45.000 The problem is, of course, the left has politicized every single thing.
00:03:49.000 Everything is political.
00:03:51.000 So if you say, if you're a baker, you say, I don't want to bake this cake for this same-sex wedding.
00:03:56.000 They'll say, you are doing this not on the basis of politics.
00:03:59.000 You're doing this not on the basis of worldview.
00:04:01.000 You're doing this on the basis of the animus.
00:04:03.000 But if a baker says, I'm not going to bake a cake for your biblical party, then the idea is that's politics.
00:04:10.000 So everything that the left wants to censor goes in the politics basket.
00:04:13.000 And everything that the left wants to force you to do goes in the immutable characteristic basket that you're not allowed to discriminate against.
00:04:22.000 So the left's categories break down into the stuff you're not allowed to discriminate against and the stuff you are allowed to discriminate against.
00:04:28.000 Everything that is remotely conservative goes in the things you're allowed to discriminate against basket.
00:04:32.000 Everything else goes in the things you're not allowed to discriminate against basket.
00:04:34.000 So when we talk about neutral service providers, increasingly neutral service providers will not discriminate on the basis of anything except for conservative politics.
00:04:42.000 And this is why the story that is now coming out about PayPal and the Anti-Defamation League is scary.
00:04:47.000 So the Anti-Defamation League used to be a much more bipartisan, it was always a left-leaning organization, but it was sort of a bipartisan organization, largely focused on fighting anti-Semitism that was broadened out to include discrimination of all sorts.
00:05:00.000 Now the Anti-Defamation League is basically a democratic front group, unfortunately.
00:05:03.000 The Anti-Defamation League, in the aftermath of Abe Foxman's retirement, has basically become a sort of talking point organization for the left in a similar way to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
00:05:14.000 The basic idea of the ADL is that you have to focus deeply in Anytime there is a Republican who does something anti-Semitic, this is worthy of unending scorn and ridicule.
00:05:23.000 Fair enough.
00:05:24.000 But if you've got the Squad and the Democratic Party saying overtly anti-Semitic stuff for years on end, this is stuff that requires maybe a little bit of tutting, but at that point you sort of let it go.
00:05:32.000 In any case, the Anti-Defamation League is now working with PayPal, a neutral, A neutral service provider.
00:05:38.000 In order to crack down on content.
00:05:40.000 And they say that they're cracking down on extremist content.
00:05:43.000 The problem, of course, is that the left has a really, really bad habit.
00:05:46.000 And that habit is conflating everything they don't like with extremist content.
00:05:50.000 In the same way that the January 6th commission is largely going to be about conflating all Republican and conservative ideology with January 6th.
00:05:57.000 And saying that if you supported Donald Trump in 2020, it's because you wanted January 6th to happen.
00:06:02.000 Or, by the way, even if you thought that the election was decided by fraud, that that makes you a January 6th compatriot?
00:06:08.000 I don't agree that November 4th was decided by fraud.
00:06:11.000 I think that Trump lost the election.
00:06:13.000 But there is even a distinction between the people who went and protested that day and the people who actually committed the criminal act of going onto the Capitol grounds, breaking in and threatening people.
00:06:21.000 But the left wants to wrap all of this up in a ball.
00:06:23.000 In the same way, what the left would like to do is broaden out the rubric of extremism, dangerous speech, dangerous incitement, to include pretty much everybody on the right.
00:06:33.000 And now they're going to weaponize neutral service providers in order to basically excise you from the community.
00:06:39.000 of people who get to participate in the services of a neutral service provider.
00:06:43.000 So according to the Anti-Defamation League, here is their press release yesterday.
00:06:46.000 And this is dangerous, dangerous stuff, because this is going to be the model going forward.
00:06:50.000 You've seen this increasingly. Advertisers are being told you can advertise with MSNBC, you can't advertise with Fox News. You have Democrats who are openly pushing the FCC to crack down on dissemination of channels like Fox News.
00:07:03.000 You saw NPR last week trying to push Facebook to de-platform Daily Wire for no reason other than we're conservative, right?
00:07:09.000 They said we don't lie.
00:07:10.000 They said that we don't engage in conspiracy theories.
00:07:12.000 They said that we're openly conservative and we should be suppressed anyway.
00:07:16.000 The goal here is to take businesses, again, which are not subject to First Amendment restrictions because they're businesses, and through both governmental and social pressure, get them to bottleneck free speech.
00:07:25.000 That's the goal here.
00:07:25.000 So here's the ADL's press release.
00:07:26.000 Quote, PayPal Holdings, in partnership with ADL, today announced a new partnership initiative to fight extremism and hate through the financial industry and across at-risk communities.
00:07:36.000 This is the latest effort by PayPal in combating racism, hate, and extremism across its platforms and the industry.
00:07:43.000 Through this collaboration, PayPal and ADL have launched a research effort to address the urgent need to understand how extremism and hate movements throughout the United States are attempting to leverage financial platforms to fund criminal activity.
00:07:54.000 Okay, so, if we're talking about how PayPal should not be engaged in criminal activity, or should be restricting the ability of people to use their platform to engage in criminal activity, fine.
00:08:04.000 We have those sorts of regulations with regard to all sorts of financial transactions.
00:08:09.000 We have those regulations put in place, many of them, directly after 9-11.
00:08:13.000 This is why if you're transferring over $10,000, for example, you need to have basically a delay and the federal government checks into it and all of that.
00:08:20.000 But that's not the entirety of what PayPal and the ADL are doing.
00:08:26.000 According to Aaron Karsmer, the Chief Risk Officer and EVP of Risk and Platforms at PayPal, quote, by identifying partners across sectors with common goals and complementary resources, we can make an even greater impact than any of us could do on our own.
00:08:37.000 We're excited to partner with the ADL, other nonprofits, and law enforcement in our fight against hate in all of its forms.
00:08:43.000 So first of all, I am very uneasy with the rubric of, quote, hate in all of its forms, because as we have seen, many on the left perceive anything on the right to be hateful that they disagree with.
00:08:53.000 And if you believe, for example, that men are men and women are women, this means that you're a hate monger, according to the left, and you should be suppressed.
00:09:00.000 So I have some real difficulty in the language here.
00:09:03.000 If they want to say we're cracking down on criminality, that's not even worthy of a press release.
00:09:07.000 That's what you should be doing.
00:09:08.000 Businesses should, of course, always be fighting criminality and illegality, but that's not all we're talking about here, as becomes pretty clear as this press release goes on.
00:09:16.000 The initiative with PayPal will be led through ADL's Center on Extremism, a leading authority on extremism, terrorism, and hate.
00:09:22.000 PayPal and ADL will focus on uncovering and disrupting the financial pipelines that support extremist and hate movements.
00:09:28.000 In addition to extremist and anti-government organizations, the initiative will focus on actors and networks spreading and profiting from all forms of hate and bigotry against any community.
00:09:41.000 Now we're getting kind of broad, aren't we?
00:09:43.000 We went from people engaging in criminal activity or people associated with criminal organizations to focusing on quote actors and networks spreading and profiting from all forms of hate and bigotry against any community.
00:09:56.000 Now again, this makes me very uneasy because I do not think that the left is particularly circumspect in how they approach questions of hate and bigotry.
00:10:04.000 As we have seen, the President of the United States, this doddering old quote-unquote moderate, has spent the last several months declaring that if you're in favor of voter ID, it's because you're akin to a Jim Crow racist.
00:10:13.000 So no, I don't think that the ADL has any monopoly on defining hate and bigotry.
00:10:20.000 I think the left has a horrific habit of declaring everyone they dislike a hateful bigot.
00:10:26.000 And I don't think they have any restrictive principles here at all.
00:10:29.000 So you put that on top of PayPal, and now PayPal says, okay, well, you want to subscribe to Daily Wire, or you want to subscribe to Daily Caller, or you want to subscribe to Fox Nation?
00:10:37.000 Well, you know what they've been doing over there.
00:10:38.000 Now, Tucker Carlson, white supremacist, Ben Shapiro, hate monger.
00:10:42.000 Well, I guess we can't use your platform anymore in order to, like, you can see where this is going, and it is nowhere good.
00:10:49.000 Again, if you are attempting to crack down on criminal activity, I got no problem at all.
00:10:53.000 The nice thing about criminal activity is it's a bright line.
00:10:55.000 Because criminal activity has statutorily defined terms.
00:10:59.000 That is not the case with hate and bigotry.
00:11:01.000 It's why we don't prosecute hate and bigotry in the United States the way they attempt to in Europe or Canada.
00:11:06.000 Which is a very good thing.
00:11:07.000 We should not prosecute hate and bigotry in the United States because it is a fungible term.
00:11:11.000 It is an empty vessel that you can fill with anyone you don't like.
00:11:14.000 Jonathan Greenblatt, the CEO of the ADL says, quote, all of us, including in the private sector, have a critical role to play in fighting the spread of extremism and hate. With this new initiative, we're setting a new standard for companies to bring their expertise to critical social issues. We have a unique opportunity to further understand how hate spreads and develop key insights that will inform the efforts of the financial industry, law enforcement and our communities in mitigating extremist threats.
00:11:37.000 According to the press release, PayPal and ADL will work closely with organizations like the United Latin American Centers to protect marginalized communities against extremism.
00:11:48.000 They will work closely with them to share trends and hate with marginalized and vulnerable communities and with the goal of helping to empower and safeguard those communities which are frequently targets of hate groups and extremist acts.
00:11:59.000 So you can see how this is going to bleed from here's a group that participates in criminal activity.
00:12:04.000 We should crack down on that too.
00:12:05.000 Here are the kinds of people that members of this group might like to watch.
00:12:09.000 And let's stop them.
00:12:11.000 And you can no longer patronize those sites.
00:12:13.000 The militarization of neutral service providers in order to avoid the strictures of the First Amendment is a deep and abiding problem in American life.
00:12:20.000 There are only two possible remedies.
00:12:22.000 One is actual regulation that adds discrimination on the basis of politics to anti-discrimination law, which is, I think, the way a lot of states are going to go now that we've created a whole rubric of anti-discrimination law, much of which is in violation of basic First Amendment principles, by the way.
00:12:36.000 You can be against discrimination and also recognize that anti-discrimination law really, really impedes on freedom of association as well as freedom of speech.
00:12:46.000 Both things can be true at once.
00:12:47.000 That racism is terrible and also in the United States, you do have a right to say racist things.
00:12:52.000 Both of those things can be true at once in the same way that in the United States, I think pornography is terrible.
00:12:59.000 And still, the Supreme Court has declared that you have the right to buy pornography if you're an adult.
00:13:04.000 Just because there is a quote-unquote right to do something does not mean that you always approve of the use of the right.
00:13:09.000 However, if we are going to have an anti-discrimination rubric in the United States, and we are going to say it's not okay to discriminate against people on the basis of everything from identifying as a member of the opposite sex to race, like that entire broad spectrum, Then the notion the only people who can be discriminated against are white conservatives seems to be a bit of a problem.
00:13:28.000 You're going to see states fight back against that.
00:13:30.000 That's one possibility.
00:13:31.000 The other is we're just going to get two separate sets of service providers, one for conservatives and one for liberals.
00:13:36.000 And listen, we here on the right, I'm happy to make money off of that, you know, because if there if there's going to be a right wing PayPal, I'm happy to found it and I'm happy to have people use it.
00:13:44.000 It's fine with me.
00:13:45.000 I'll make a lot of money.
00:13:46.000 It is horrible for the country.
00:13:48.000 As neutral spaces disappear, we have no relationship with the people who live next door to us.
00:13:52.000 And that means the further polarization and split in the country.
00:13:56.000 All of which I talk about in the new book, The Authoritarian Moment, but it is a deep problem.
00:14:00.000 It's getting worse every single day.
00:14:02.000 Alrighty, in just one second.
00:14:03.000 We're gonna talk about the new COVID cram down because the amount of panic that is being evidenced by the media over what's going on with the Delta variant is wildly out of proportion with the actual facts.
00:14:14.000 I'm gonna show you some stats that people apparently don't care about.
00:14:18.000 And it's pretty alarming how insane people have gotten about this.
00:14:22.000 We'll get to that in one second.
00:14:23.000 First, there are a thousand reasons why protecting my home matters to me.
00:14:27.000 If somebody stops by or something is going on, I know that Ring will let me know.
00:14:31.000 And that's great.
00:14:31.000 I've got three little kids running around sometimes.
00:14:33.000 You're outside, and you turn around, and your five-year-old's gone.
00:14:36.000 You're like, uh-oh, where'd my five-year-old go?
00:14:38.000 Good news!
00:14:38.000 Pull up the phone, boom, I've got the Ring app.
00:14:40.000 I know exactly where my five-year-old is.
00:14:41.000 He's in the other room, making trouble.

00:15:23.000 You can build the system that's right for your home, have it up and running in minutes.
00:15:25.000 That's ring.com slash Ben.
00:15:27.000 Again, ring.com slash Ben.
00:15:30.000 Alrighty, so let's talk about the current COVID power grab.
00:15:33.000 And at this point, it is an endless power grab because the stats just do not back the idea that we should be putting mandatory masking provisions in place, or that on a broad scale, we should be mandating that every single human get the vaccine.
00:15:48.000 I think there are certain situations in which businesses have some fairly good reasons to mandate that their employees get the vaccine.
00:15:54.000 I think that that is basically restricted, in my opinion, to healthcare providers.
00:15:57.000 If you're working at a hospital, you're dealing every day, every single day, with people with unique vulnerabilities, many of whom could not get the vaccine.
00:16:04.000 The idea that you should not be a vector of transmission if you're going to work at the hospital, that makes some sense to me.
00:16:08.000 But we're going way beyond that.
00:16:09.000 So, first of all, let's start with what is the situation with COVID right now?
00:16:12.000 Because I'm going to show you the actual charts that apparently nobody wants to show you.
00:16:15.000 It's unbelievable that nobody wants to show you these charts.
00:16:18.000 Okay, so, let's begin with deaths in the United States from COVID-19.
00:16:22.000 Okay, so, First, what is the seven-day rolling average?
00:16:27.000 So according, this is according to the New York Times, by the way.
00:16:29.000 These stats are from the New York Times.
00:16:31.000 The seven-day rolling average, as of yesterday, of deaths in the United States from COVID-19 was 269.
00:16:36.000 So let's put that by way of contrast.
00:16:39.000 Every day in the United States from Alzheimer's, about 330 people die.
00:16:42.000 Every day, about 1,800 people in the United States die of heart disease.
00:16:47.000 At the height of the pandemic, In excess of 4,000 people were dying a day from COVID.
00:16:52.000 So we are down by a factor of somewhere between 10 and 20 in terms of how many people are dying per day from COVID.
00:17:01.000 That should not be an alarming stat to you.
00:17:05.000 I mean, if you are alarmed by the fact that 270 people a day are dying of COVID to the point where you're talking about nationwide mask mandates, lock it all down, don't go back to work.
00:17:13.000 I don't know what to tell you.
00:17:15.000 You've lost the thread.
00:17:16.000 I mean, you can look at this chart just graphically.
00:17:18.000 You can look at the chart that I'm looking at right now.
00:17:20.000 We are now at the lowest rate of death that we have been since literally the beginning of the pandemic.
00:17:24.000 Right?
00:17:25.000 Even in the middle of last summer, when we had that bit of a lull, we weren't down to the seven-day rolling average.
00:17:29.000 Okay, that's for the United States more broadly.
00:17:30.000 Okay, how about some of the specific states that are now considering more lockdowns?
00:17:35.000 Let's start with New York.
00:17:36.000 Here is the case average from New York.
00:17:38.000 Back at the height of the pandemic, in New York, you saw this around the beginning of the year, you were seeing over 15,000 cases a day diagnosed in New York State.
00:17:45.000 The seven-day rolling average of cases diagnosed in New York State is now about 1,500.
00:17:49.000 Okay, so they are down by, again, a factor of 10?
00:17:54.000 Over 10?
00:17:57.000 Okay, so that is good.
00:18:00.000 What's even more good is the fact that as there's an increase in cases, we have not seen a consummate increase in deaths.
00:18:00.000 I mean, that's good.
00:18:08.000 Okay, here's deaths from New York.
00:18:09.000 The seven-day rolling average of deaths in the entire state of New York, a state of about 19 million people.
00:18:15.000 The average deaths in New York.
00:18:17.000 Again, these are New York Times stats.
00:18:19.000 Five.
00:18:20.000 The seven-day rolling average.
00:18:22.000 Five deaths a day from COVID.
00:18:24.000 And we're talking now about mask mandates and about state employee mandates.
00:18:29.000 Five deaths a day.
00:18:30.000 Five.
00:18:31.000 Okay, I can count them literally on a hand.
00:18:33.000 Five.
00:18:33.000 That's how many fingers I have.
00:18:34.000 Incredibly enough.
00:18:35.000 Okay, the New York Times reports that as of July 25th, there were nine deaths in New York from COVID.
00:18:41.000 There were.
00:18:41.000 You can see the chart.
00:18:43.000 Okay, last year, at the worst of the pandemic in New York, When the thing was first starting, you were seeing a thousand deaths a day.
00:18:43.000 You can see.
00:18:50.000 You are down to five in New York.
00:18:53.000 Count them!
00:18:53.000 Five in the entire state of New York.
00:18:56.000 Okay, so you saw the case rate going up, right again?
00:18:59.000 You can look at the deaths.
00:19:00.000 Deaths are not mirroring the case rate.
00:19:01.000 We have now disconnected the case rate from the deaths.
00:19:05.000 Which was the point of the vaccine.
00:19:07.000 We have been successful.
00:19:08.000 You would think now would be a great time to declare victory.
00:19:10.000 Democrats can't do it.
00:19:11.000 Let's take a look at Florida.
00:19:13.000 So Florida is, of course, the worst state in America.
00:19:15.000 Terrible.
00:19:15.000 Horrible.
00:19:16.000 Florida.
00:19:16.000 Oh, my God.
00:19:17.000 Oh, no.
00:19:17.000 Horrible.
00:19:18.000 OK, so Florida is seeing a radical uptick in the number of diagnosed cases.
00:19:22.000 The cases are being diagnosed largely among people who are younger and healthier because all the olds in Florida already got the vaccine.
00:19:29.000 My parents are 65.
00:19:30.000 They got the vaccine.
00:19:31.000 Everyone they know had the vaccine.
00:19:33.000 Hey, if you come to our offices, apparently I'm the only one who got the vaccine.
00:19:36.000 Because the only people who got the vaccine are people who felt themselves to be particularly vulnerable.
00:19:40.000 Now, do I think that's good logic?
00:19:42.000 No, I got the vaccine.
00:19:43.000 My wife got the vaccine.
00:19:44.000 We're both young.
00:19:45.000 We're both healthy, thank God.
00:19:46.000 But, here's the thing.
00:19:47.000 So, Florida right now is being just clubbed about the ears by the media- Look at Florida.
00:19:51.000 My God, look at the number of cases being diagnosed in Florida.
00:19:54.000 Oh my- The whole- Rontas, Deaths, Santas.
00:19:57.000 And the seven-day rolling average of new cases.
00:20:00.000 There's about 10,500 in the state of Florida, which we are now approaching levels that were about what it was the height of the pandemic, which is in January.
00:20:10.000 We're seeing about 15,000 new cases a day.
00:20:13.000 So you are seeing a radical increase in case rate in Florida.
00:20:16.000 Now, let's look at deaths in Florida.
00:20:19.000 The deaths in Florida.
00:20:22.000 I'm sorry, you're treating this as a crime.
00:20:24.000 OK, so over the weekend, my kids got a cold.
00:20:27.000 I have a little bit of a cold right now.
00:20:29.000 Is this a public health crisis?
00:20:30.000 No, because none of us are gonna die from the cold.
00:20:33.000 Diagnosis of a condition, if you don't die and you don't get seriously ill, is not a public health crisis.
00:20:38.000 Okay, so, what is the seven-day rolling average in the state of Florida?
00:20:41.000 Again, according to the New York Times, the seven-day rolling average of death in the state of Florida is 39.
00:20:48.000 And it has not risen, it's actually been on the decline, since approximately mid-April.
00:20:54.000 Basically since the vaccines started to go out.
00:20:57.000 At the height of the pandemic, in January, you were seeing sometimes in excess of 200 deaths a day.
00:21:03.000 So we are down from the height of the pandemic in Florida, from well over 200 deaths a day, to 39 deaths a day.
00:21:12.000 And yet this is considered, 39, and by the way, there are 21 million people who live in Florida.
00:21:17.000 I'm sorry, this is not a public health crisis any longer.
00:21:20.000 That doesn't mean on an individual level that if you're unvaccinated, you don't have risk factors.
00:21:20.000 It is not.
00:21:25.000 Certainly you do.
00:21:27.000 It does mean that the job of the government here, the sort of panic of the government is unjustified.
00:21:31.000 Let's look quickly at the cases from California.
00:21:33.000 Okay, quickly, the cases from California, you can see that they are rising.
00:21:40.000 Okay, and they're rising fairly steadily.
00:21:43.000 They're up to about 3,000 cases a day.
00:21:45.000 Their seven-day rolling average is like 6,400 cases in a day.
00:21:49.000 At the height of the pandemic in California, there were 42,000 cases a day.
00:21:52.000 1740 and 50,000 cases a day.
00:21:54.000 So now they're like 6,000.
00:21:55.000 So they're way down.
00:21:57.000 How about their deaths?
00:21:58.000 Where are they in California in terms of deaths?
00:22:01.000 They are down at approximately 20.
00:22:03.000 Their seven-day rolling average is 20 deaths.
00:22:05.000 They were in excess, well in excess, of 500 deaths a day at the height of the pandemic.
00:22:10.000 So, does any of this justify all of the lockdown talk, and the masking talk, and the panic talk?
00:22:17.000 Of course it doesn't!
00:22:18.000 None of this justifies that!
00:22:20.000 Okay, so those are the stats.
00:22:21.000 I just gave them to you.
00:22:22.000 Those are more stats than the media apparently are gonna give you.
00:22:24.000 They give you facts without any level of context.
00:22:28.000 If fact-checkers had any brains in their head, that's the context they would check.
00:22:31.000 They'd be like, wow, look at that, the case rate in California is up 40% over, yeah, what's the death rate like?
00:22:37.000 Well, look at that, the death rate's up 40%.
00:22:38.000 Oh, you mean it went from like two to three?
00:22:41.000 Like, well done, guys.
00:22:43.000 Okay, so let's talk for a second about who is not getting vaccinated.
00:22:46.000 Because the narrative is, it's all the Trump supporters.
00:22:48.000 The evil, evil Trump supporters.
00:22:50.000 And the reason that this narrative has been drawn by the left is because this is about the blame game at this point.
00:22:55.000 See, here's the thing.
00:22:57.000 The rationale for control is now gone.
00:22:59.000 We had emergency protocols that were taken last year.
00:23:02.000 And the thing about members of the government is they love emergency protocols.
00:23:06.000 It is their favorite thing in all of the land.
00:23:07.000 They love it.
00:23:09.000 When there's an emergency and then they get to declare unilateral power, this is considered an unending good.
00:23:15.000 And the best way to declare unending power is to declare a never-ending crisis.
00:23:19.000 It's to say the crisis is not over until everyone can walk outside in the free air regardless of vaccinated or unvaccinated status and not have to worry about COVID at all.
00:23:29.000 Zero COVID.
00:23:30.000 Now, no one in the scientific community seriously thought zero COVID was a real goal.
00:23:34.000 No one thought that.
00:23:35.000 No one of any serious bent of mind thought that was the case.
00:23:38.000 As I've said 1,000 times, at the very beginning of the pandemic, the goal was, don't swamp the hospitals.
00:23:43.000 Then it became, wait till the vaccine gets out there.
00:23:45.000 Then it was, make sure that everybody has the option to get the vaccine.
00:23:48.000 We're there, it's over.
00:23:49.000 If you don't get the vaccine, on you.
00:23:51.000 If you do get the vaccine, good for you.
00:23:53.000 We're done.
00:23:54.000 The involvement of the public health authorities in preventing the transmission of a disease from, for example, a vaccinated person to a person who voluntarily decided not to get vaccinated, this does not involve the government, and it should not involve the government at this point.
00:24:09.000 But the media have to come up with a rationale for why the pandemic is not over.
00:24:12.000 See, here's the thing.
00:24:13.000 I believe the pandemic, for all public health purposes, is not over in the sense that COVID isn't killing people.
00:24:19.000 It's 100% killing people.
00:24:20.000 But From the perspective of government, the job of government is now done.
00:24:25.000 It is over.
00:24:25.000 The government has done what it was supposed to do.
00:24:28.000 It mobilized.
00:24:29.000 It provided the vaccine in record time in terms of the... It was actually the private industry that did that, but it subsidized that.
00:24:36.000 It tranched it out.
00:24:37.000 Now the government has no more job here, and now the emergency powers recede.
00:24:41.000 Just as in a war, when the war is over, that doesn't mean there aren't still soldiers overseas.
00:24:44.000 There are.
00:24:45.000 It does mean that the wartime powers of the government recede with it.
00:24:48.000 But because the Democrats last year declared that there were only two ways to view the pandemic.
00:24:53.000 One was the evil people wanted to live with the disease and the good people, the morally righteous and pure people, they wanted zero COVID.
00:25:01.000 This meant that if you were not morally righteous, you wanted to kill grandmother, right?
00:25:04.000 This meant that if you said, you know, younger people may have to go back to work and grandma may have to lock down until we have a vaccine.
00:25:09.000 This meant that you were evil and bad.
00:25:12.000 Well, now Democrats have to come around to the reality, which is that all the people who said we're going to have to learn to live with this were correct.
00:25:18.000 All of those people were right.
00:25:19.000 Ron DeSantis was right.
00:25:20.000 Sweden was right.
00:25:21.000 The basic idea, which is that in the future, you're going to have to protect the most vulnerable and allow everybody else to live their life.
00:25:26.000 All of those people were correct.
00:25:28.000 And the stats are showing that they were correct.
00:25:30.000 But instead of just going back and saying, you know what?
00:25:32.000 That's right.
00:25:32.000 We really shouldn't go back to lockdown policies.
00:25:34.000 We really shouldn't be trying to cram down on individuals, violations of their freedom, in defiance of the science, by the way.
00:25:41.000 We shouldn't.
00:25:42.000 Instead, the left has declared that the pandemic isn't over.
00:25:45.000 Because, again, defining the pandemic is over means their powers go away and it means they were wrong last year.
00:25:50.000 So instead, they have to say, no, the pandemic is still ongoing and the reason it's ongoing can't be our incompetence because we're the ones in charge.
00:25:56.000 We did a great job.
00:25:58.000 It is you, the Trump supporters, who did this.
00:25:58.000 It's you.
00:26:00.000 Well, there's only one problem with this.
00:26:02.000 The real problem with the unvaccinated in the United States is generally not Trump supporters.
00:26:06.000 The real problem with the unvaccinated in the United States are people who are living in blue cities.
00:26:12.000 The major upticks that you are seeing in the United States, as always, in terms of vast death, tend to be in highly populated areas.
00:26:20.000 Because when it comes to communicable diseases, if you are in close proximity to a lot of other people, you tend to transmit the virus more.
00:26:27.000 You tend to get the virus more.
00:26:29.000 If Bob out in the boonies of Wyoming is living by himself on a ranch and doesn't get the vaccine, that affects no one.
00:26:34.000 Because he sees one person at the feed store every week.
00:26:38.000 If you are working in the healthcare system in New York, and you see lots of people, and you don't have the vaccine, you are a more dangerous threat to others, in terms of transmitting the virus, than Bob in Wyoming, who voted for Trump.
00:26:49.000 And this is the part the media just don't want to cover.
00:26:51.000 Because according to the media, again, it's all the right-wingers.
00:26:54.000 Gavin Newsom, the governor of California, has come up with this, right?
00:26:54.000 Right?
00:26:56.000 He says, well, you know, it's the right, the evil right.
00:26:58.000 If only the right would just get vaxxed, then all of this would be over.
00:27:00.000 Here's Gavin Newsom, a terrible governor of California.
00:27:03.000 Those 25% that have remained unvaccinated, what do you attribute that to in your state?
00:27:09.000 Well, overwhelming majority of misinformation by right-wing pundits, period, full stop.
00:27:14.000 Time to be a little bit more specific.
00:27:16.000 The Ron Johnson's of the world, the Marjorie Taylor Greene's of the world, the Tucker Carlson's of the world.
00:27:20.000 I watch them.
00:27:21.000 I pay attention.
00:27:21.000 I listen.
00:27:22.000 They're misinforming people.
00:27:24.000 They're literally putting people's lives at risk.
00:27:26.000 People are dying because of the misinformation, either knowingly or unknowingly, regardless.
00:27:31.000 Time to call it out.
00:27:34.000 Okay, so there's only one problem with this theory, right?
00:27:35.000 It says that all the Trump supporters, all the Tucker Carlson watchers... By the way, Tucker has a really popular show.
00:27:40.000 Four million people a night, three and a half million people a night watch that show.
00:27:43.000 There are literally 40% of the population of a 330 million country aren't vaccinated at this point.
00:27:50.000 Including tens of millions of adults.
00:27:53.000 Tucker's audience is like four million people.
00:27:54.000 So, no.
00:27:55.000 Also, who actually is unvaccinated?
00:27:57.000 So, Jim Garrity points out that the people who are largely unvaccinated, in terms of the dangers that are being provided, are people in big cities.
00:28:05.000 Okay, Jim Garrity of National Review.
00:28:07.000 Okay, for example, as of this weekend, 41% of New York City residents were not vaccinated.
00:28:13.000 Probably they're all Trump supporters, right?
00:28:15.000 Trump won 22% of the vote in New York City.
00:28:17.000 Total.
00:28:18.000 41% of New York City residents are not vaccinated.
00:28:22.000 Who do you think is providing more of a danger for transmission?
00:28:25.000 Bob at the feed store in Wyoming, a totally red state, or Jill in New York City, who has a woo-woo perspective on vaccines?
00:28:34.000 And decided not to get vaccinated like 40% of our compatriots in New York City.
00:28:38.000 In Chicago, 43% of residents are not vaccinated.
00:28:42.000 Trump carried 24% of the vote in all of Cook County.
00:28:47.000 By the way, less of the vote in Chicago proper.
00:28:48.000 43% of the residents.
00:28:50.000 See, you notice that the media have completely ignored the fact that there is a vast racial gap in the amount of vaccination being done?
00:28:57.000 Basically, it goes like this.
00:28:58.000 Asians are getting vaccinated at a very high rate.
00:29:00.000 Whites are getting vaccinated at the next highest rate.
00:29:03.000 And then it goes, I believe, Hispanics and Blacks and Native Americans.
00:29:07.000 Okay?
00:29:07.000 They don't want to talk about that because, according to the left, if you're Black and you don't get vaccinated, that's because you recall the evils of the Tuskegee experiments.
00:29:15.000 But if you're White and you're not getting vaccinated, it's because you're an evil Tucker Carlson supporter.
00:29:19.000 Whatever the rationale, the people who are not getting vaccinated in the big cities are not Trump supporters.
00:29:25.000 Which bespeaks why people are not getting vaccinated, which we'll get to in a minute.
00:29:29.000 But again, the baseline notion that the media have trotted out there in their dichotomous view of the world is that every person who's not getting vaccinated, the great evils out there, it is all because of the right-wing misinformation.
00:29:39.000 Everybody who's getting vaccinated is a good little Biden voter.
00:29:42.000 That's not true.
00:29:43.000 It's not true.
00:29:44.000 So we now have a couple of untruths.
00:29:46.000 One, that this pandemic still requires massive government intervention.
00:29:49.000 It does not.
00:29:50.000 And two, that the people who are not getting vaccinated and must be cuddled into getting vaccinated are people who are Trump supporters.
00:29:56.000 And this means we have to stifle misinformation, et cetera, et cetera.
00:29:59.000 The people who are not getting vaccinated in blue states and in big cities all over the place, even in red states, in big cities.
00:30:06.000 are generally not Trump supporters.
00:30:07.000 In L.A.
00:30:08.000 County, only 30% of residents are vaccinated.
00:30:11.000 Trump won 26% of the vote in 2020 of L.A.
00:30:14.000 County.
00:30:16.000 So Gavin Newsom goes on TV and he's asked, why aren't people getting vaccinated?
00:30:19.000 And Gavin Newsom, that dolt, his answer is, well, it's because they're all watching Tucker.
00:30:24.000 Really?
00:30:24.000 Does Tucker have huge audiences in L.A.
00:30:26.000 County that I missed?
00:30:28.000 Again, I disagree with a lot of what Tucker... Like, I am... I don't know how many times I have to say this.
00:30:32.000 I am the most pro-vaccine person on the right.
00:30:34.000 Okay, I love the vaccines.
00:30:35.000 I think they're a medical miracle.
00:30:36.000 I think they're incredible.
00:30:37.000 I got it.
00:30:38.000 My wife got it.
00:30:38.000 I've been... And I've been utterly consistent on this.
00:30:40.000 I've said this since the very beginning of the pandemic.
00:30:42.000 Vaccines are... I've been pro-vaccine since before vaccines... Since that was a cool topic of conversation, right?
00:30:48.000 I've been very pro-vaccine for a very long time.
00:30:51.000 LA County is not a hotbed of right-wing activity.
00:30:53.000 Maricopa County, Arizona, which includes Phoenix, 52% of the residents are not vaccinated.
00:30:58.000 Trump only won 48% of the vote there in 2020.
00:31:00.000 In Harris County, Texas, which includes Houston, 48% are not vaccinated.
00:31:05.000 Trump only won 43% of that county.
00:31:07.000 In Philadelphia, 37% of the residents are unvaccinated.
00:31:11.000 Trump won a grand total of 17.9% of the vote there in 2020.
00:31:19.000 In Multnomah County, under 63% have at least one dose.
00:31:22.000 So 37% are unvaccinated.
00:31:24.000 Trump won 18% of that county in 2020.
00:31:27.000 Now you can go on this all day.
00:31:28.000 The notion that the only people who are unvaccinated in the United States are evil Trump supporters is just a lie.
00:31:33.000 And by the way, in New York, it gets even worse.
00:31:36.000 According to Garrity, after seven months, 40% of New York City educators are not vaccinated.
00:31:41.000 So remember all of those teachers who are like, we can never go back to school because there's a danger to us.
00:31:44.000 It's so dangerous.
00:31:45.000 Man, it's dangerous.
00:31:46.000 None of those teachers are bothering to get vaccinated, apparently.
00:31:50.000 Only 60% have gotten vaccinated.
00:31:53.000 This is from the New York City Mayor's Office, the MTA, and the Department of Corrections in New York Post.
00:31:59.000 A percentage of New York City workers who have been vaccinated by their various agencies in New York.
00:32:05.000 Only 60% of teachers in the Department of Education have been vaccinated.
00:32:09.000 Only 43% of NYPD has been vaccinated.
00:32:12.000 Only 51% of the fire department in New York City.
00:32:16.000 Has been vaccinated.
00:32:17.000 Most shockingly, I mean, this is unbelievable.
00:32:19.000 Only 60% of New York City health and hospitals has been vaccinated, which is nuts.
00:32:23.000 New York was the epicenter of this thing.
00:32:26.000 You would figure that if people in the hospitals saw, you know, freezers, trucks filled with bodies stacked outside, that might get them vaccinated.
00:32:34.000 Apparently not.
00:32:34.000 4 in 10 people working for New York health and hospitals have decided not to get vaccinated.
00:32:39.000 In the Department of Corrections, only 42% of people are vaccinated, despite the fact that jails are hotspots.
00:32:43.000 And in the MTA, only 65% of workers are vaccinated.
00:32:47.000 Apparently, all right-wingers.
00:32:49.000 All right-wingers, right?
00:32:50.000 Because it is very, very important, it is deeply important that we have this Manichean view of exactly how vaccination works and how it does not work.
00:32:58.000 Here's Gavin Newsom again, comparing the unvaccinated to drunk drivers.
00:33:02.000 Which is pretty crazy, considering that the difference between, like, if you are a drunk driver, you drink, and then the externality is you hit somebody else and you kill them.
00:33:11.000 If you are unvaccinated, it's actually more as though, if you're going to compare the unvaccinated to drunk drivers, which is an insulting and silly comparison, if you're going to make that comparison, it's like saying that only drunk drivers are on the road with each other.
00:33:21.000 Right?
00:33:22.000 Because the vaccinated are protected.
00:33:24.000 That's what vaccines do.
00:33:25.000 Here is Gavin Newsom again doing the moral high horse routine after going to the French Laundry and enjoying himself in the middle of the pandemic.
00:33:34.000 We don't even have to have that debate if we can just get everybody vaccinated that's not vaccinated, that's refusing to get vaccinated, that's living vaccine-free and impacting the rest of us.
00:33:43.000 It's like drunk drivers.
00:33:44.000 You don't have the right to go out and drink and drive and put everybody else at risk, including your own life at risk.
00:33:49.000 California is one of the highest vaccination rates in America, but yet we're still seeing an increase because so many people, 25% in California, are refusing to get vaccinated.
00:34:01.000 It's just, it's an incredible thing.
00:34:03.000 It's incredible.
00:34:03.000 So, here's the real question.
00:34:04.000 Why is there no trust?
00:34:06.000 Right, so I'm saying that it's not, you know, just the right-wing misinformation and the anti-vax stuff and all that.
00:34:12.000 It's not just that.
00:34:13.000 There's a systemic problem with institutional trust in America.
00:34:16.000 The same people who are on TV yelling at you that you need to get the vaccine, you don't trust.
00:34:19.000 And the reason you don't trust them is because they have been lying to you.
00:34:23.000 It's amazing.
00:34:23.000 All these people, they never have a moment where they look in the mirror and they're like, why isn't anyone listening to me about the vaccine?
00:34:29.000 Everything in public life right now is Principal Skinner from The Simpsons saying, is it me?
00:34:35.000 It can't be me.
00:34:36.000 It's the children who are wrong.
00:34:38.000 Always and forever.
00:34:39.000 They're all Principal Skinner.
00:34:40.000 It's the children who are wrong.
00:34:42.000 Maybe it's you.
00:34:43.000 Maybe it's you guys.
00:34:43.000 We'll get to that in just one second.

00:37:03.000 Ben Shapiro YouTube and Ben Shapiro Facebook.
00:37:05.000 And mark your calendars because tomorrow we'll be doing an episode of Backstage with special guest Candace Owens.
00:37:10.000 We'll be discussing how communism keeps trying to work its way into American society.
00:37:13.000 You're not going to want to miss it.
00:37:14.000 You are listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:37:18.000 Alrighty, so the reason that a lot of people are not vaccinating, according to the left, of course, it's the right and Tucker Carlson and all of that. But the real reason that nobody is or a bunch of people are not vaccinated, including a lot of people in blue states, is because institutional trust is down.
00:37:37.000 Now the left believes that the institutions should be trusted no matter what, because institutions are more important than actual human beings.
00:37:44.000 This is why you will hear people like Anthony Fauci say, if you contradict me, it's because you don't believe in the science.
00:37:49.000 The science.
00:37:50.000 Right?
00:37:50.000 And it's like, well, no, you're not the science.
00:37:53.000 Trademark.
00:37:54.000 You are actually just a scientist.
00:37:56.000 And apparently, very often a guy who makes mistakes about that.
00:38:00.000 The institutional trust problem continues unabated.
00:38:03.000 You can't trot out Andrew Cuomo to kill all the olds in New York and then also trot out Andrew Cuomo to be your lead spokesperson on Get the Vax.
00:38:09.000 You can't do that.
00:38:10.000 It's just not going to be effective.
00:38:11.000 And yet that's exactly what's happening.
00:38:12.000 So here was Andrew Cuomo yesterday explaining that you should get vaccinated, which, by the way, I agree with.
00:38:17.000 But when Andrew Cuomo says it, I'm like, I'm not sure.
00:38:21.000 I have told you the facts on COVID from day one.
00:38:24.000 especially when you say things like this, right?
00:38:26.000 Andrew Cuomo, who lied about like half a dozen things in his state, he says, I've told you the truth since day one.
00:38:33.000 Hmm.
00:38:34.000 I have told you the facts on COVID from day one.
00:38:40.000 Whether they were easy, whether they were hard, I told you the truth.
00:38:47.000 While a lot of people were talking politics and a lot of people were talking theory and a lot of people were trying to deny because they didn't want to deliver bad news, I told you the truth.
00:39:02.000 .
00:39:03.000 You know why?
00:39:04.000 Because I believe in you.
00:39:10.000 Why won't people trust our institutions?
00:39:12.000 The man is still covering up how many people died in nursing homes by reclassifying people who got sick in nursing homes and lived in nursing homes as not dying in nursing homes if they died in a hospital.
00:39:22.000 Meanwhile, you've got Jen Psaki over at the White House.
00:39:24.000 She was asked specifically, you know, there are some people who were infected at the White House by the Texas Democrats who showed up on their doorstep.
00:39:29.000 By the way, I am amused.
00:39:30.000 The Texas Democrats are now doing like GoFundMe fundraisers for ramen or something.
00:39:38.000 It's like, I'm pretty sure they can afford that.
00:39:39.000 Like, do they have credit cards?
00:39:40.000 How does that work?
00:39:41.000 In any case, apparently they infected a bunch of Democrats in the White House.
00:39:44.000 And Jen Psaki was asked, who in the White House has a COVID infection?
00:39:48.000 Here was her answer.
00:39:50.000 Has the White House had any additional staffers test positive for COVID-19?
00:39:54.000 I think, again, our policy, just to reiterate it, which we announced last week, is that if there's an individual who has close proximity to any of the four principles as defined by the White House Medical Unit in line with CDC guidelines on what that looks like, we will then make that information available and immediately public to all of you.
00:40:14.000 So that has not been the case since we announced that policy, no.
00:40:19.000 Uh, so I'm supposed to trust you guys about, like, COVID vaccinations and COVID infections, and you won't even say who in the White House has COVID?
00:40:25.000 And by the way, this was not the rule during the Trump administration.
00:40:27.000 If a low-level Trump administration official got COVID, then it was like, okay, that was big national news.
00:40:32.000 Meanwhile, Joe Biden gets irritated by even being asked questions.
00:40:36.000 So yesterday, there was an announcement from the Veterans Administration.
00:40:39.000 That if you work in a VA hospital, they're going to mandate that you get vaccinated, which actually, I gotta say, I don't think is like the world's worst policy.
00:40:45.000 Again, if you're working in a hospital, you're literally working with people who are ill and have serious pre-existing conditions every single day, many of whom can't get vaccinated.
00:40:52.000 So that's a different situation than you're working a bus at the MTA.
00:40:56.000 But that's not really the point.
00:40:57.000 The point here is that Joe Biden gets angry when people ask him questions.
00:41:01.000 The first rule, by the way, of convincing people to believe you as an authority figure is explaining yourself.
00:41:07.000 Joe Biden never wants to explain himself because he's sort of an old crotchety dude who believes that everybody should just believe what he has to say.
00:41:13.000 You are such a pain in the neck when I'm gonna answer your question because you've known each It has nothing to do with Iraq.
00:41:27.000 I'll answer your question.
00:41:28.000 Yes, Veteran Affairs is going to, in fact, require that all docs working in facilities are going to have to be vaccinated.
00:41:38.000 You're such a pain in the neck.
00:41:39.000 You're a pain in the neck.
00:41:40.000 If you ask questions to Joe Biden, you're a pain in the neck.
00:41:42.000 Jen Psaki, yesterday, she suggested that we're going to continue to keep travel bans in place from various places on Earth, despite the fact that it's not working.
00:41:50.000 The Delta variant is already widely seeded in the United States.
00:41:52.000 There is no data to suggest that preventing travel from Europe to the United States is going to cut down on the number of infections in the United States, considering that the Delta variant is running roughshod through the population that is unvaccinated.
00:42:03.000 But here she is, again, proposing policies that don't make sense.
00:42:06.000 Given where we are today, and I think you've seen this and those of you who have asked, we've confirmed this for with the Delta variant, we will maintain existing travel restrictions at this point for a few reasons.
00:42:16.000 The more transmissible Delta variant is spreading both here and around the world.
00:42:20.000 Driven by the Delta variant, cases are rising here at home, particularly among those who are unvaccinated and appear likely to continue in the weeks ahead.
00:42:29.000 Maybe the reason why people don't trust any of these authority figures is because these authority figures have not earned the trust of the American people.
00:42:36.000 By the way, there's a bipartisan failure here.
00:42:37.000 If you don't explain your policy, and you don't do it clearly and concisely, and you don't take seriously concerns, nobody is going to pay attention to you.
00:42:44.000 And instead, the move of the left is to browbeat.
00:42:47.000 And I think there's a specific political reason for that.
00:42:49.000 Because if you browbeat, then you can treat anybody who doesn't listen as an enemy.
00:42:53.000 Instead of trying to convince people to do the things you think they should do, instead, you just yell at them, and you don't explain things to them, and then, when they don't do it, you say, ah, you are the problem.
00:43:02.000 You're the problem.
00:43:03.000 For example, last night on CNN, you had Alison Camerota and she was grilling the mayor of a Missouri town on why he opposed a mask mandate.
00:43:15.000 Now, the reason to oppose a mask mandate at this point for the vaccinated is because the vaccinated are vaccinated.
00:43:21.000 And the idea that we are going to force people who are vaccinated to mask up to protect the unvaccinated who have had every opportunity to go get the vaccine and still have the opportunity to go get the vaccine.
00:43:32.000 The data to support a mask mandate on the vaccinated is really, really weak at best.
00:43:36.000 And it is a serious violation of freedom for people who did the thing that they were supposed to do.
00:43:41.000 But here are the hosts of CNN, Alison Cameron and Victor Blackwell, trying to browbeat the Wildwood Mayor, Jim Ballin, saying, you know, you need a mask mandate and you need it right now.
00:43:52.000 Please explain why you think that a mask mandate is necessary from the government at this time.
00:43:57.000 Seriously, they won't.
00:43:58.000 They'll just browbeat him.
00:44:00.000 I just want to give people a status report of where your county is.
00:44:04.000 Hospitalizations are up.
00:44:06.000 The number of people in ICUs are up.
00:44:08.000 The number of people on ventilators are up.
00:44:10.000 So why not make people wear masks indoors for a little while until you get the numbers down?
00:44:18.000 Let me ask you, and I don't mean this to be insulting, but we've had some people who have been against local mask mandates answer this question in a way that would lead us in a different part of the conversation.
00:44:28.000 Do you believe that masks work to block and mitigate the virus?
00:44:33.000 People are dying in St.
00:44:35.000 Louis County.
00:44:35.000 They're on ventilators.
00:44:37.000 They're in the hospital.
00:44:38.000 And so if you don't believe in mask mandates and you don't believe in vaccine mandates, then how are you going to get out of this?
00:44:46.000 Okay, so that is not journalism at this point.
00:44:48.000 This is just browbeating.
00:44:50.000 By the way, I'm looking right now at St.
00:44:52.000 Louis County.
00:44:52.000 The number of deaths, the seven-day rolling average in St.
00:44:55.000 Louis County of deaths is, according to the New York Times, one.
00:45:00.000 That is the seven-day rolling average in St.
00:45:01.000 Louis County.
00:45:02.000 What you get from CNN is people are dying.
00:45:04.000 Everyone's dying.
00:45:05.000 By the way, this guy's answer was actually quite good, right?
00:45:07.000 His answer was, if the standard is now going to be that every time there's an uptick in COVID, and without vaccinations and so forth, it stays around in perpetuity, presumably, we'll be doing masks in perpetuity forever.
00:45:17.000 He is correct.
00:45:18.000 Emergency authority is to be used when there's an emergency.
00:45:21.000 And if you prolong the emergency by suggesting that people who don't do what you say are the emergency, you have now created the impetus to cram down whatever you want for all time.
00:45:30.000 And the left is in love with this.
00:45:31.000 You're going to see them do this on global warming.
00:45:32.000 You're going to see them do this on quote-unquote income inequality.
00:45:35.000 You're going to see them do this with regards to the quote-unquote racial reckoning.
00:45:38.000 Everything is an emergency.
00:45:39.000 And if it's an emergency, you require emergency powers.
