00:00:00.000 hello and welcome once again to the blueprints this is canada's conservative podcast with new
00:00:14.200 content for you every single tuesday 1 30 p.m eastern time i'm your host jamie spale member
00:00:19.320 of parliament for halliburton fourth links brock we ask that you like comment subscribe and share
00:00:23.360 this program you can also download and listen to it on platforms like cast box itunes google play
00:00:28.960 and spotify a message that is not always said in the mainstream media and something ears need to
00:00:34.780 hear eyes need to hear this show and we need your help to do that lots of things happening even in
00:00:40.660 the the summer months the end of july is here but we have some interesting news coming up actually
00:00:46.800 just broke a couple hours ago to talk about this and much much more including forward interference
00:00:51.820 we have michael cooper a good friend of the show member of parliament for st albert edmonton thanks
00:00:56.240 very much for coming on board great to be here jamie all right four cabinet ministers have decided
00:01:01.740 they are not going to run again potentially more we'll see three from the toronto area one from
00:01:07.880 british columbia what are your thoughts on this as we approach a possible and likely well very likely
00:01:14.500 cabinet shuffle tomorrow well we have a government that is a year and a half into its mandates since
00:01:22.200 last election so from that standpoint uh for any government uh now would be a time when a prime
00:01:29.160 minister might make some changes to his cabinet in terms of uh bringing in some fresh faces as well as
00:01:35.980 uh shuffling out certain ministers underperforming ministers uh as well as uh ministers who might not
00:01:43.100 be in line to run again so uh i don't think anything is particularly surprising if you believe the media
00:01:51.320 reports and of course that's up to everyone's interpretation but some of the speculation is
00:01:56.880 that melanie jolie the foreign minister and christia freeland the finance minister are going to remain in
00:02:02.520 place despite countless failures in their portfolio and i know the the liberal bench isn't that deep but
00:02:09.900 my goodness you you have to be able to you know do something with those two at least and certainly
00:02:16.900 marco mendicino oh him too has a long list of failings and not only a long list of failings from a
00:02:24.180 substantive uh point of view but also uh in terms of just not being truthful uh he has a repeated
00:02:31.660 record of saying one thing that is conflicted by the facts and so uh i would hope that the prime
00:02:39.480 will do the right thing to him out but uh we'll see tomorrow well if anyone should go uh definitely
00:02:46.420 the two i mentioned and the one you mentioned mendicino should be should be i i think out of
00:02:51.360 cabinet altogether if you look at his record before getting into public safety and really destroying that
00:02:56.260 file he was in citizenship and immigration where the but this massive backlog really took hold he was
00:03:03.080 the person in charge and really left uh the new minister uh with with this catastrophe that uh the
00:03:11.360 minister had to deal with minister frazier a backlog in immigration that he was the architect of um he is
00:03:19.260 the minister when i when i spoke about him saying things that were not truthful uh he's one who said that
00:03:25.120 the government invoked the emergencies act to crack down on law-abiding uh canadians at the behest law
00:03:32.140 enforcement that proved to be a blatant false but it was a purely political decision made by the
00:03:39.140 government and uh this is a minister who said unbelievably uh that he basically learned about
00:03:47.120 the transfer of canada's most notorious serial killer paul bernardo through the media even though
00:03:54.760 his office had been alerted months before that assertion is simply not credible and if it is true
00:04:02.020 uh it doesn't uh provide much of a defense for them because there is something called ministerial
00:04:07.460 responsibility something prime minister talked a lot about before he became prime minister and now
00:04:13.120 and don't forget mendicino minister mendicino talked about using even joking or not he talked about
00:04:20.520 and the text messages were exposed using tanks against canadian citizens yeah just unbelievable
00:04:27.800 and i think it also speaks some of those statements he made uh at the time uh uh when canadians were
00:04:35.580 frustrated about the government's unscientific punitive mandates uh speaks to the mean spirit of this
00:04:42.620 and the uh punitive uh uh approach of this government towards frankly canadians don't agree with
00:04:50.420 clients so we'll probably talk more about the cabinet shuffle next week on next tuesday's show and
00:04:56.640 kind of do a breakdown of who went where and and the good the bad the ugly that sort of thing
00:05:02.020 going back to a name i mentioned a little while ago uh the foreign minister melanie jolie um still
00:05:08.600 waiting for that uh inquiry on foreign affairs the public inquiry to be called and that is the prime
00:05:15.900 minister's call it's up to the prime minister to call uh public inquiry and we need a public inquiry to
00:05:21.800 get to the bottom of what really is the heart of the scandal and that is what did the prime minister
00:05:27.340 know when did he know about it and what did he do or fail to do about beijing's interference and not
00:05:34.660 one but two federal elections and not just our elections as serious as that is uh but targeting
00:05:40.940 mps including our colleague michael chong as well as setting up illegal police stations on canadian
00:05:47.260 soil to intimidate and harass chinese canadians foreign interference under this prime minister's
00:05:54.020 watch has grown significantly it's not just beijing but beijing is by far and away the biggest
00:06:00.820 actor in terms of interfering uh in canada and uh canadians deserve answers the only way to get
00:06:08.200 those answers as a spring point is a public inquiry and by someone who is truly independent not the
00:06:14.940 prime minister's buddy david johnson who we uh shamefully appointed as so-called special rapporteur
00:06:22.160 you mentioned the the the beijing police stations operating canada i think i think you're mistaken
00:06:28.560 uh michael uh mendicino said they were all closed so you don't have to worry about those anymore
00:06:33.980 yeah he said repeatedly before admitting in answer to questions i posed to him that they were shut down
00:06:41.420 and uh then days later we learned that no in fact there are two illegal police stations operating
00:06:49.480 in montreal and uh as far as i i know based upon the testimony of the rcfp in june uh and mind you
00:06:58.360 and tino made that i think in april but in june uh the rcfp based upon her testimony indicated that
00:07:06.260 they were still operating
00:07:07.740 now where do we go from here we are still waiting for the public inquiry we have a cabinet shuffle
00:07:14.920 we have uh maybe we should talk about quickly before we go i asked that question that i just
00:07:20.760 let into uh the latest arrest uh earlier this week about an ex-rcmp officer uh connected to potential
00:07:28.200 uh foreign interference that was an interesting development that uh the uh the uh the rcmp made
00:07:34.440 uh it's an important step taken by the rcfp to track down on foreign interference beijing's
00:07:41.500 interference uh it underscores that this is a serious issue and a growing issue under this prime
00:07:48.320 minister's watch uh this rcfp officer worked on behalf of the beijing regime as part of perhaps
00:07:57.140 its operation fox fund uh which is advertised by the beijing communist regime as a campaign to crack
00:08:08.100 down on corruption but is really a campaign to repatriate and persecute uh opponents of the regime
00:08:19.140 and incredibly james or maybe not so incredibly if you look at the crack record of this government
00:08:25.940 back in 2016 uh justin crudo met with premier then premier lee who came to canada and they signed
00:08:35.280 an agreement in which canada would cooperate with beijing in beijing's so-called crackdown on
00:08:42.160 corruption in other words this government was complicit with beijing's operation fox hunt
00:08:48.620 and uh it just is another example of what most charitably can be described as this government's
00:08:56.540 naivety when it comes to dealing with beijing it just doesn't seem that this government is taking
00:09:02.600 this whole issue seriously despite warnings from csis and other organizations within government and
00:09:09.180 elsewhere you just have to look at uh organizations that work with uh different governments on a whole
00:09:14.740 bunch of uh of issues uh not necessarily related or not but saying something isn't right here and you
00:09:21.120 you look what what beijing is doing with other countries they're moving in um equipment uh their
00:09:27.400 military personnel doing uh air fingers quote work in in countries to to try to gain advantages in
00:09:34.180 certain continents africa in particular and moving into other countries but uh this this is a
00:09:41.720 communist party on the roll throughout uh parts of of the world that are are taking up beijing on their
00:09:49.580 offer uh but also losing major things as a result there's no question that the beijing regime is
00:09:59.980 uh to the sovereignty of canada and to the safety and security and uh canadians particularly chinese
00:10:07.940 canadians and they have uh been very bold uh in terms of inserting themselves uh in our affairs and
00:10:17.660 uh attacking canadian sovereignty and attacking canadian democracy and it's absolutely something that
00:10:25.080 is of should be of paramount concern this government but it's not just a matter of the government
00:10:31.620 of turning a blind eye to this particularly the election interference that we saw in 2019 and 2021
00:10:39.760 it is that it appears the prime minister actively covered such interference up trying to hide it from
00:10:49.560 canadians uh why would he do that well because it seems that such interference uh at least
00:10:57.000 to some extent benefited the liberal party and as a result he was content to let that happen now if
00:11:03.340 that's if i'm wrong about that then the prime minister should get on with it and call a public
00:11:08.920 inquiry if he has nothing to hide for canadians that he would call a public inquiry but he didn't do
00:11:14.420 that hasn't done that uh instead he covered it up we only know about the scale of beijing's
00:11:20.040 interference as a result of uh intelligence place as a result of uh reports from uh the media uh and
00:11:29.300 uh otherwise canadians would have been kept uh in the dark and uh and the prime minister instead of
00:11:36.900 calling a public inquiry as part of his cover-up campaign appointed his long-standing friend or at least
00:11:45.400 a family friend of the crudo family david johnson who was uh incredibly a member of the beijing funded
00:11:55.200 crudo foundation up to his time being appointed as the so-called special rapporteur uh and that
00:12:03.920 really was an exercise to uh continue to cover up to appoint a family friend to whitewash beijing's
00:12:11.180 interference to whitewash what the prime minister knew about beijing's interference hoping that uh
00:12:16.820 uh canadians would buy into johnson's reporting the whole thing would go away well as it turns out
00:12:22.980 johnson's report has no credibility he was not able to defend key conclusions he was layered uh in
00:12:30.500 conflicts of interest and all of these issues around beijing's interference as evidence might be
00:12:37.200 recent arrest of the rcp officer is not going to go away so we're going to keep up the pressure
00:12:43.140 on the government uh and we're going to keep up the pressure as this government continues to drag its
00:12:50.120 speed with respect to not calling a public inquiry we need one and don't forget too in order to clear
00:12:57.260 david johnson from any potential conflict oh he asked a couple friends of his well they also happen to be
00:13:03.840 either liberal donors or liberal donors that were on the trudeau foundation it was absolutely
00:13:09.160 unbelievable this tight circle that they kept but there's like almost 40 million people in canada
00:13:15.480 and the only people that that justin trudeau david johnson can ask for clarification are other
00:13:20.920 liberals well that's right and so you have johnson was appointed by the prime minister notwithstanding
00:13:27.060 but he was a family friend and connected to the beijing finance uh who does johnson consult
00:13:33.880 another member of the trudeau foundation however he was in a conflict uh who does he hire
00:13:39.780 to help him uh gather evidence and interview witnesses and contribute to writing of a report
00:13:47.000 uh none other than a lawyer by the name of sheila block who is a liberal donor who uh as recently as
00:13:54.620 two years ago was rubbing shoulders at least in a virtual context of a fundraiser uh with the
00:14:02.040 prime minister and anita anon who does he hire to be his spokesman uh none other than a recent
00:14:10.220 director of communications to a liberal captain minister and uh who does he seek advice from uh none
00:14:18.860 than john guy former chief of staff to the liberal ontario premier dalton mcgetti layer upon layer of
00:14:28.000 conflict and a closeness to the civil government you cannot make this stuff up the only conclusion
00:14:36.920 that you can draw is that this prime minister and his friend david johnson have utter contempt for
00:14:44.040 canadians and uh it's why uh johnson's report has no credibility why uh we've been never we said he's
00:14:55.040 never been appointed in the first place and why yeah i couldn't agree with you more let's keep that
00:15:02.080 pressure up i know you mentioned that's what you're going to do uh anything else you want to share with
00:15:06.120 us in regards to that file before we move on to to uh something that is i think affecting everybody
00:15:11.860 across this country and that's the uh the increase in in crime and violent crime sure well the only
00:15:17.540 thing i would add jamie is that conservatives wanted to hold hearings this summer uh to continue
00:15:23.520 to call witnesses so that uh today we could try to get more answers uh where there seem to be very
00:15:31.140 few answers the government's going to provide and uh unfortunately the liberals uh with their coalition
00:15:37.540 partner the ndp shut us down uh the ndp talk of the game about wanting to get to the bottom of
00:15:45.440 beijing's interference but the ndp's cooperation with the liberals to shut down summer committee
00:15:51.300 hearings it's just a number of example of many of the ndp working with the government while saying
00:15:57.020 something very different now this could be michael cooper's uh view on things but how
00:16:02.620 how does someone justify putting off a public inquire do you think it is so deep it is is so
00:16:09.600 so dirty under there that that's the reason why the government continues to hesitate on calling a
00:16:14.620 public inquire in in getting to the bottom of what is going on whether it be what we just talked
00:16:19.540 about we didn't even mention what happened at the winnipeg lab uh many years uh three four years ago
00:16:25.240 now the the two that were were fired uh and and blocked out by the rcmp um do you is that why you
00:16:32.140 think they're delaying this and dragging their feet and of course they blame the opposition for
00:16:36.300 for all of this which is pathically absurd to blame the opposition i mean it's ultimately up to
00:16:42.700 the prime minister it's his call uh he could call one today he should have called one months ago and
00:16:50.280 the extent to which the government has done seemingly everything other than call public
00:16:56.620 inquiry indicates this is a prime minister of government that's something to hide and um that's
00:17:03.740 the only conclusion that i can draw i think that's the only reasonable conclusion to be brought
00:17:08.420 yeah i couldn't agree with you more on this one um i wanted to talk about something that uh is like i
00:17:15.880 said affecting every corner of this country but uh something that happened in in your neck of the
00:17:21.140 woods in edmonton a very violent crime uh two people um suffered uh i it's it's shocking to you that
00:17:29.960 we continue to have these conversations outside the lrt in edmonton uh by a repeat violent offender
00:17:35.860 yet another example of the soft on crime approach this liberal government is taking uh canadians
00:17:42.660 the victims are the ones bearing all of this and and and and they're continuing to to to unfortunately
00:17:49.740 uh fall prey to these these violent offenders that can somehow get on a bail over and over again
00:17:56.920 well jeannie i think you were partially uh conflating two horrific crimes in edmonton both of which
00:18:06.640 are connected which i'll get to in a minute but back in may uh a young mother and 12 year old
00:18:12.360 daughter were randomly attacked stabbed to death both of them outside an elementary school now
00:18:19.500 when as a parent and one would think that uh the safest among the safest places to be is outside of
00:18:26.600 one's child's one child under child's elementary school and here you have a mother and her daughter
00:18:32.680 murdered in a random attack then uh two weeks ago in edmonton outside an lrt station
00:18:38.840 a new canadian someone who came to canada from africa to build a better life for himself and his
00:18:44.540 family off for a seven was stabbed to death uh the common thread between both of these
00:18:51.600 uh murders three murders uh in edmonton is the perpetrators had extensive criminal records
00:18:59.760 and were out on bail it's not an accident that they were out on bail no more than it is an accident
00:19:08.800 than that we have uh seen a 32 percent increase in violent crime on the dust prudeau's watch as well
00:19:16.180 as 94 increase in gang related homicides uh there is a reason why people are facing these types of
00:19:25.860 attacks why the police chief at edmonton said i don't think i agree with the chief of police
00:19:31.560 which is to uh be vigilant when taking public transit even during the day
00:19:36.760 uh and the reason for that jamie is because just prudeau's soft on crime policies why is it that
00:19:46.720 repeat violent offenders are out on bail who then go on to commit other crimes well it's because
00:19:53.180 of justin prudeau's bill c-75 that was passed in 2018 it was a bill that we certainly raised
00:20:02.780 uh criticized the government and voted against but unfortunately it didn't get a lot of attention
00:20:08.160 but it's had real consequences since it's implemented and with respect to bail what bill c-75
00:20:15.080 uh requires judges to do is to prioritize the release of accused persons at the earliest
00:20:27.120 opportunity uh with the least burdensome conditions possible and so that has resulted in uh some
00:20:37.560 rather dangerous criminals uh being released on bail and going out and committing crimes and committing
00:20:44.000 uh homicides uh against uh in some cases canadians who are simply in front of you know out at an
00:20:51.260 lrt station or uh at in front of standing in front of an elementary school both of which happened in
00:20:56.840 the last two months it's really shocking uh there is a solution and that is to repeal bill c-75 that's
00:21:04.520 something that uh future conservative government will absolutely make a priority well at the same time
00:21:11.020 the the liberals are trying to get people out of their cars and into public transit but at the same
00:21:14.960 time it's not even safe to be on public transit we saw it in edmonton toronto and there's examples
00:21:21.040 everywhere you could probably look everywhere and and notice that uh there there's something going on
00:21:26.900 here that doesn't seem quite right and something we really haven't as a country had to be overly
00:21:31.840 concerned about but now all of a sudden these these violent repeat offenders seem to be empowered
00:21:36.920 and and and causing great stress to the to the the population because as we saw we were dealing
00:21:44.660 with inflation life is getting harder on on so many fronts and people are finding it harder and harder
00:21:50.440 to get by well at the same time they're being asked to pay more they're getting less in terms of
00:21:55.360 the government looking after their safety well precisely uh our communities are less safe under
00:22:01.520 justin crude oil that's demonstrated by a 32 percent increase in violent crime since 2015 it's a pretty
00:22:07.420 big increase that is a massive increase while at the same time people again feel helpless like what
00:22:15.060 can what can they do when when you you do everything right you know you call the police the police come
00:22:20.040 they they they they they arrest where the circumstances are uh present themselves they go through the court
00:22:25.980 system and they're out on bail before you know it it it is very frustrating to all involved
00:22:31.460 and really does hurt the morale of not only our law enforcement agencies but also people within the
00:22:37.240 community who who expect that those that are going to do them harm are actually kept behind bars
00:22:44.440 uh exactly and it's liberal catch and release and it's putting why the lives of law-abiding canadians
00:22:53.780 at risk and there have been uh homicides that could have been prevented including murder of an opp constable
00:23:05.060 uh in the fall who was also uh murdered by a repeat offender out on bail thanks to justin trudeau's
00:23:12.500 bill c-75 and while the liberals passed laws such as catch and release uh they also uh turn around and
00:23:22.180 uh crack down on not the criminals but on law-abiding firearms owners all the while uh eliminating
00:23:29.660 mandatory jail time for people who want to commit serious crimes with guns so it's it just speaks to
00:23:35.860 misplaced priorities of a government that uh it is is really blinded by ideology they view law-abiding
00:23:45.280 firearms owners as problem uh while they have a soft on crime approach thinking that if we just uh you
00:23:53.380 know have light sentences uh the least onerous conditions possible if imposed upon accused persons
00:23:59.540 opposed committed of serious crimes but somehow uh it will encourage uh rehabilitation and public safety
00:24:07.780 will be enhanced well guess what there are some people who are frankly dangerous who need to be
00:24:13.600 kept behind bars and there is a such such thing in our criminal justice system as punishment
00:24:19.700 for those who go out and commit serious offenses against canadians my hope is that one of the ministers
00:24:27.460 shuffled out besides mendicino is the justice minister lamedi i think he needs to go this the snc
00:24:35.420 lavalin all of it uh fall at his feet and he has done a disservice to canadians in my opinion
00:24:42.060 at failing so miserably in his job and the basic job of keeping canadians safe
00:24:47.960 the prime minister can shuffle the chairs in his cabinet but ultimately justin prudeau is the problem
00:24:56.700 and he needs to go and that's why uh election can't happen uh soon enough in which we elected
00:25:05.800 here at least word to burn the crust of canadians so we can have that change i believe and i know
00:25:11.780 you believe so yes i uh i hope so too uh michael we got to run we're completely out of time but
00:25:18.660 the guests always get the last word the floor is yours well uh we're going to keep up the pressure
00:25:24.760 on this government when it comes to beijing's interference uh in our democracy and uh we're
00:25:33.080 going to keep up the pressure to that end by demanding a public inquiry i'm hopeful uh that
00:25:38.420 we'll see one before parliament returns uh well i just got on that that will be the case well thank
00:25:45.480 you very much michael cooper i i appreciate uh time out of your schedule i know you're busy in the
00:25:50.240 summer meeting with your constituents and uh learning about all the uh the issues going on in
