Summary

Is the Prime Minister actually saying that taxpayers should be on the hook when he breaks the law? What is it going to take for the PM to have any respect for any laws in this country that may curb his out of control behaviour? All these deficits leading to nothing but burying Canadians in taxes?

00:00:07.940 Is the Prime Minister actually saying that taxpayers should be on the hook when he breaks the law?
00:00:19.280 What is it going to take for the Prime Minister to have any respect for any laws in this country that may curb his out-of-control behaviour?
00:00:28.120 All these deficits leading to nothing but burying Canadians in taxes.
00:00:37.560 And now, here's your host, Tony Clement.
00:00:43.460 Welcome back to The Blueprint, Canada's Conservative Podcast.
00:00:46.720 Just this week, Peter Kent, Member of Parliament, launched the Pay It Back campaign,
00:00:51.380 a campaign devised to put pressure on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to pay back the taxpayer money
00:00:58.060 that was used on his illegal vacation to Billionaire Island.
00:01:02.420 This is an important campaign.
00:01:04.540 You can see it on social media.
00:01:06.220 You can see it through regular media.
00:01:08.060 Good afternoon.
00:01:15.020 Bonjour à tous.
00:01:17.420 As we all know, in barely seven sitting days of the House,
00:01:24.540 barely seven sitting days of the House,
00:01:27.280 since the Ethics Commissioner found the Prime Minister to have broken the law
00:01:31.360 by violating four major sections of the Conflict of Interest Act,
00:01:37.400 he has refused to offer any meaningful discussion in the House,
00:01:41.920 and more important, he has refused to accept any consequences.
00:01:47.120 Now, no one argues with legitimate security and travel expenses on official business.
00:01:56.600 But by spending more than $200,000 on an ill-considered, illegal vacation
00:02:03.740 and refusing to repay those improper expenses,
00:02:08.260 the Prime Minister has shown again his disdain for the rules of the House,
00:02:14.220 his disdain for his own ethical guidelines
00:02:18.720 and, as important, his disregard, his disrespect for fellow members of Parliament.
00:02:27.480 Now, members of the House deserve meaningful answers to reasonable questions.
00:02:33.620 Canadians deserve answers.
00:02:35.860 But most important of all, Canadian taxpayers deserve to be repaid
00:02:42.400 the hundreds of thousands of dollars improperly spent on his illegal vacation.
00:02:48.440 So that's why today we are launching the Pay It Back initiative,
00:02:54.660 an opportunity for all Canadians to communicate to the Prime Minister
00:03:00.180 that they expect him to do the right thing and pay it back.
00:03:06.260 Now, they can do that in any number of ways.
00:03:08.380 They can do it by telephone to his constituency office in Papineau.
00:03:13.660 They can do it by calling the Prime Minister's office here in Ottawa.
00:03:18.500 They can use email.
00:03:21.080 Or they can, in a very simple manner, uncomplicated, doesn't cost a cent,
00:03:27.120 take any envelope you might have in the House
00:03:30.080 and address it to the Prime Minister, Parliament of Canada, Ottawa,
00:03:35.020 Postal Code K1A 016,
00:03:38.120 and then, on the back, you don't have to put anything into the envelope,
00:03:42.340 on the back, inscribe, pay it back.
00:03:46.320 Send it to the Prime Minister and communicate
00:03:48.900 your urging that the Prime Minister do the right thing
00:03:54.140 and repay Canadian taxpayers for those improper expenses
00:03:59.280 paid on his illegal vacation by Canadian taxpayers.
