The Blueprint: Canada's Conservative Podcast - The Inflation Crisis

00:00:00.000 share this program help us push back against the ever-moving liberal agenda if you can't watch

00:00:12.420 or listen to it right this second you can download it listen to it on platforms like castbox itunes

00:00:17.140 google play spotify you name it it is out there and without further ado we have pierre paul you

00:00:22.460 have the member of parliament for carlton he's also the shadow minister for finance coming back

00:00:26.100 on the show to talk about just inflation great to be with you well this is something that i think a

00:00:34.840 lot of people were looking forward to because they've seen your performance in the house of

00:00:37.620 commons lately and they they can see that you are pushing back on something many of the so-called

00:00:42.500 experts in the media seem to want to talk away over and over again that that it's not even happening

00:00:48.680 like it doesn't exist well that's that's the irony is that all of the same experts who claim that

00:00:57.080 covid would cause deflation now blame it for inflation all of the so-called experts who told us

00:01:05.520 inflation would never happen now claim to be able to tell us why it's happening of course these people

00:01:13.700 are motivated by their ideology rather than the economic sciences i was able to predict this

00:01:20.660 inflation back in may of 2020 over a year ago for a very simple reason i saw the amount of money the

00:01:29.220 government was printing and i knew that it would lead to inflation as it always does and sure enough

00:01:34.540 here we are we have the second highest inflation in the g20 higher than many non-g20 countries as well

00:01:41.720 saudi arabia switzerland singapore south korea india china japan australia germany netherlands italy

00:01:53.280 france uk and countless other countries had printed less money and they have less inflation but of 0.97

00:02:01.400 course here in canada we followed the ridiculous example of the americans who run these god-awful

00:02:08.120 deficits and pay for it with printed federal reserve money and of course we're getting the

00:02:13.020 same result we joined with the americans to have uh the among the highest inflation in the developed

00:02:19.200 world well since you did talk about the americans that we got a graphic here from the federal reserve

00:02:24.300 bank in uh in st louis basically talking about the joys of rationing when they should be looking after

00:02:29.420 the inflation crisis that that they created um we also have been dealing with this for quite some time

00:02:36.880 the housing crisis that has been slowly creeping up and and i'm going to post a graphic too that was uh

00:02:42.900 you posted actually on your social media that showed that when the crisis hit when the pandemic hit prices

00:02:48.080 actually dropped for a few months but you can explain it better than i can what triggered that huge

00:02:53.960 and continuing rise in house prices well you're quite right housing prices should have dropped during

00:03:01.600 covet uh why because wages with which you buy houses dropped and immigration was reduced to almost zero

00:03:09.920 also cutting demand uh so you would expect that house prices would actually moderate in fact they did for

00:03:17.640 a few months in uh march and april of 2020 then the federal government began printing cash like crazy

00:03:25.820 flooding the financial market with 400 billion dollars of newly created money that money starts in the

00:03:33.460 financial system and it trickles down uh and mortgage lending went up by 60 percent to

00:03:39.280 uh home buyers and 100 percent to investors which boomed uh balloon demand and increased housing prices by

00:03:49.020 over a third in that time so we have a massive house price inflation that is the result of the

00:03:57.200 the same cause of all inflation which is more money chasing fewer goods which leads to higher prices

00:04:03.840 so the government's answer to this seems to be hey we're coming up with a daycare program

00:04:08.440 so it's the failure of the government to solve a program is another government program and here we

00:04:14.660 go again more deficit finances the planners every time the plans fail the planners will keep planning

00:04:20.060 says renal dragon that's right they cause a housing crisis by flooding the market with cheap cash and 0.99

00:04:29.100 ballooning and inflating house prices and then they say well this is more proof that we need a government

00:04:35.040 program to solve the problem that government caused um what else is new uh it's as though that more of

00:04:41.220 the disease is the cure um no of course not the answer is less of the disease which means stop printing

00:04:48.560 cash stop flooding our financial and mortgage markets with easy money so that house prices can moderate and

00:04:55.300 people can afford to buy a home i know you have to go because you have a speech at 140 that's why we

00:05:01.580 started a little early so i'll just quickly go on this about the the oil and gas how what we do in

00:05:07.100 canada is some of the best in the world we have joe biden in the united states the president of the

00:05:10.820 united states begging opec countries to increase their production and we have what's the first thing

00:05:16.860 he did he canceled keystone xl so i don't understand how when we're being warned about shortages and price

00:05:22.720 increases in our natural resources in our energy the idea now for joe biden is to raid the strategic

00:05:28.720 stockpile of reserves which has to be replenished instead of begging opec i don't know how importing

00:05:34.900 opec oil makes everything green it just doesn't make any sense you have a domestic supply you have

00:05:40.840 canada with a supply let's be energy independent north america yeah that is the irony that while

00:05:47.300 biden begs opec for oil and has dipped in to take out 50 million barrels of oil from the u.s

00:05:57.280 strategic reserves trudeau couldn't convince them to approve a pipeline from canada i don't think

00:06:03.960 trudeau could convince the thirsty in a desert to take fresh water for free it ought to have been that

00:06:12.180 easy to convince the americans to get that pipeline built but what do you know another failure to defend

00:06:19.020 our workers and our jobs even in a time when our neighbors are using more and more oil

00:06:25.420 all right pierre i know you have to run downstairs to the chamber here what what uh what's the

00:06:31.280 solution here i always give the guests the last word maybe you can talk about what conservatives

00:06:34.440 differently what we can do to help uh slow the inflation i know we're not in power but uh what

00:06:40.360 would we be offering canadians to slow this mad inflation rise that we have

00:06:44.380 well stop pouring gasoline on the fire you know when you print money and run deficits you

00:06:52.280 cause the inflationary fire to burn hotter and bigger and that's what this government is doing

00:06:58.140 and so that's the first thing instead of creating cash let's start creating more what cash buys

00:07:03.880 build pipelines to create uh and transport more affordable energy um unleash our builders to produce

00:07:14.000 more affordable housing uh get the carbon tax and other red tape off our farmers to grow

00:07:20.020 more affordable and nutritious food in other words make more cost less paychecks not debt

00:07:26.280 i love it pierre you do have a speech at 140 so i will let you go uh justin trudeau talks often

00:07:32.280 about build back better i think we should just build something that would be nice anything thank you very

00:07:37.940 much i would love more time with you but i understand the speech got moved around you have to go

00:08:26.260 it could be a variety of things please post that with the hashtag justinflation we'll start to show that

00:08:32.220 what the government is doing is actually causing the problem on funneling all this cheap money into

00:08:38.560 the system so we'll talk more about that in a future episode we've got lots more going on pierre
