On today's show, a Toronto police officer is shot and the other Randy Saga continues to talk about this and much, much more. We bring on a long-time friend of the show, Larry Brock, who hasn't been on in a while, but by the opening, you probably guessed who he is.
00:13:16.320One was Shauna Parker. One was Felix Papineau. One was Edward. And the last one I'm not, I won't name.
00:13:24.480I simply will not name them just based on the turmoil. You are a self-admitted liar. You lack
00:13:31.520any credibility whatsoever. It's pretty darn clear. Now, it makes sense for a whole bunch of
00:13:38.080reasons why you would not have a Minister of the Crown having direct influence into a operating
00:13:44.640corporation for a whole bunch of reasons. The government could change policy, you had inside
00:13:48.320information, you could direct, you know, your team to go in certain areas and potentially reap the
00:13:54.160rewards of that. So it makes total sense on this. Mr. Boissoneau, it looks like decided potentially
00:14:02.800that he wanted none of that and actually wanted just to reap the rewards. Yes. And what I want to
00:14:08.640add to that is that clip that you showed also reveals another lie by Mr. Anderson when he said he had no
00:14:17.200communication with Randy Boissoneau during that period. Minister Boissoneau has attended twice at
00:14:23.600committee, his first attendance. He also lied to committee. This is a Minister of the Crown. Although
00:14:31.760not being sworn in at committee, there is a presumption at committee, as you will know,
00:14:36.880Jamie, that you're going to tell the truth. A Minister of the Crown deliberately lied at committee
00:14:44.480when he said he didn't have any communication with Steven Anderson in and around that time and further
00:14:52.960lied when he spoke to Global News and informed Global News that he had always paid the company's bills
00:15:03.520when he was a partner, an active partner in the affairs of the company. Global News confirmed by looking
00:15:11.520at court records of the lawsuits that he in fact deliberately lied, misled Global News because
00:15:18.960at a time when he had an active interest, he wasn't paying the bills and he and the company and Mr.
00:15:24.800Anderson were being sued for that. But to the point I'm raising right now about no communication,
00:15:31.040through Global News, it was revealed that there were additional text messages. And from that,
00:15:37.840we also heard from Minister Boissoneau during his second appearance. Oh, by the way, committee members,
00:15:46.240I received a text message from a perlator company regarding an unpaid invoice. So I took it upon myself.
00:15:57.600And this is a Minister of the Crown who's got a staff of hundreds. He took it upon himself,
00:16:07.040knowing he can't have any operating or management connection with the company. He took it upon himself
00:16:13.920to text Mr. Anderson and requested a phone call with Mr. Anderson. He claims they spoke for one minute.
00:16:21.920This is at the exact same period of time he's doing a shakedown for that half a million dollars.
00:16:29.680So you be the judge, Jamie. So he finally fessed up to communicating, but he could have had other
00:16:36.960people doing that for him. So clearly, in our view, he is still in violation of the conflict of interest.
00:16:44.800Now, what would be the biggest punishment? If this is conclusive, that he is in fact guilty of
00:16:51.680what we've laid out today on this show and in committee, what's the worst? Public shaming.
00:16:56.560Public shaming. That's it. That's it. Our current ethic rules don't have enough teeth. And that is why
00:17:04.640our colleague, Michael Barrett, is introducing his own private member's bill for more accountability and
00:17:09.920more consequences, including fines, if not jail. I think that's what Canadians demand and expect
00:17:18.000from their elected officials. There's got to be a heightened sense of scrutiny and a higher sense
00:17:24.400of integrity. When we become members of parliament, we are holding ourselves to a higher standard. This
00:17:32.480government's level of competency and integrity is the complete opposite of what Canadians expect.
00:17:38.640When Stephen Harper took power in 2006 and onwards in 2008, it was the Accountability Act, right?
00:17:44.800Brought in because of the sponsorship scandal, which was more liberal corruption. And leave it to the
00:17:51.680liberals, the liberal themselves in terms of the corruption meter, right? They keep finding new ways,
00:17:57.200and we continue to have to change the law to keep up to them.
00:18:02.560That's precisely what we're doing. All right. We're pretty much out of time. We did go over,
00:18:06.880but I have more questions. Unfortunately, we don't have time. Always a pleasure to have you show.
00:18:10.400Always. As you know, the guests get the last word, so the floor is yours.
00:18:15.600Jail, not bail. Okay, stop the crime. Our fourth pillar is what our leader and our party intends on
00:18:25.040doing. We have to ensure that community safety is paramount in our minds. We have to ensure that offenders,
00:18:33.840serious, violent, repeat offenders, are being held in custody awaiting their guilty plea or trial,
00:18:42.240so we can restore common sense, but more importantly, community safety.
00:18:46.480Larry Brock, member of parliament for Brantford Brant, also the critic for justice. Thank you for your time. Thank you for yours.
