Freedom is something you earn every day, and that strength is something we need to reinforce.
00:00:07.100
Hi, I'm Candace Malcolm, and this is The Candace Malcolm Show.
00:00:10.380
No, Prime Minister Carney, freedom is not something you earn every day.
00:00:13.040
Freedom is something that we are born with, that we are given from God,
00:00:16.300
and not something that our government can take away.
00:00:22.520
We're going to react to the throne speech a little bit more.
00:00:25.900
We're going to show the highlights and some of the lowlights, because there was quite a bit of cringe in there.
00:00:33.020
First of all, King Charles kicked off the throne speech by delivering, yes, you guessed it, a land acknowledgment.
00:00:40.900
I would like to acknowledge that we are gathered on the unceded territory of the Algonquin and the Shinabeg people.
00:00:48.940
This land acknowledgment is a recognition of shared history as a nation.
00:00:57.420
While continuing to deepen my own understanding, it is my great hope that in each of your communities,
00:01:05.340
and collectively as a country, a path is found toward truth and reconciliation in both word and deed.
00:01:19.380
King Charles, the whole idea that you would say it's unceded territory, you're acknowledging the claim that Canada is not a legitimate country.
00:01:27.260
So to have the king come and deliver a throne speech and right at the beginning, in the first few words, say that Canada is illegitimate,
00:01:37.000
We want people who will stand up for our country, stand up for our institutions, and not undermine every single aspect about it.
00:01:43.080
I mean, he's the royal family, for goodness sake.
00:01:44.800
This is why I said yesterday that I like the tradition, I like the idea of the monarchy that's serviced very well over the years,
00:01:55.540
King Charles said the federal government would change firearm licensing and increase restrictions on firearm possessions while claiming to protect the rights of law-abiding gun owners.
00:02:08.500
This is just absolutely outrageous to have the king come and threaten our lifestyle, threaten our way of life, and try to take away guns.
00:02:18.200
To keep communities safe, the government will hire 1,000 more RCMP's personnel.
00:02:24.860
It will change firearms licensing and strengthen enforcement of yellow and red flag laws.
00:02:35.100
Weapons licenses for those convicted of intimate partner violence and those subject to protection orders will be revoked.
00:02:43.940
Through the deployment of scanners, drones, and helicopters, additional personnel, and canine teams,
00:02:53.980
the government will stem the tide of illegal guns and drugs across the border.
00:03:00.160
It will take these steps while protecting the rights of law-abiding gun owners and indigenous people's longstanding hunting traditions.
00:03:10.180
I really don't like hearing the king make partisan slogans on behalf of the liberal government, but give me a break.
00:03:17.220
Canada has a crime problem, and the crime does not come from law-owning individuals.
00:03:22.160
So cracking down on law-abiding gun owners is ridiculous.
00:03:26.300
It is patently ridiculous nonsense, and it's just such a spectacle that the king is now involved in this nonsense.
00:03:39.540
The government is resolute in its determination to protect those institutions
00:03:45.620
that highlight and promote that identity around the world,
00:04:00.260
Real trade-offs and practical insight with a focus on what matters for Canada.
00:04:04.960
Every episode, we talk to the people shaping what comes next in business, policy, technology, and the real economy.
00:04:23.840
Okay, we have Pierre Polyev, leader of the Conservative Party, coming in and correctly saying that the throne speech was just full of slogans and lacked solutions.
00:04:33.280
So here is Pierre Polyev at a press conference saying that the throne speech had no plan to address the government's morbidly obese spending, anti-energy laws, or justice reform system.
00:04:45.180
We did see a lot of the right slogans and political talking points, but no clear plans to get it done.
00:04:53.000
One slogan dealt with controlling government spending, but there were no specific savings to roll back the morbidly obese Liberal government's costs.
00:05:03.680
We saw promises about getting things built, but no mention of oil and gas or pipelines.
00:05:09.620
Pipelines are, of course, the thing we most need to build.
00:05:13.380
Nor did they mention getting rid of the anti-energy laws that have kept our resources in the ground.
00:05:18.040
They mentioned crime, but refused to say that they would repeal the Liberal catch-and-release bail law, C-75, or the house arrest law.
00:05:28.040
Laws that have allowed rampant chaos and crime to overtake our once-tranquil streets.
00:05:36.740
Pierre Polyev and Melissa Lansman have the same hairstyle.
00:05:39.560
It looks kind of funny with them standing side by side.
00:05:42.360
Pierre Polyev said that he agreed with some of the messaging behind the throne speech, of course,
00:05:46.220
because, recall, that Mark Carney stole half of the Conservative platform in his platform.
00:05:51.720
But Polyev said that only the Conservatives have a plan to deliver on that vision,
00:05:55.760
promising to table comprehensive amendments that include specific proposals on energy, crime, and spending.
00:06:01.960
There are some messages we want to see is planned.
00:06:04.960
So we're going to put forward what we consider to be a constructive amendment
00:06:10.840
So, for example, the government says they want to get projects built?
00:06:18.820
Repeal the energy cap, the offshore shipping ban, the electric vehicle mandate,
00:06:23.680
and unlock the incredible investment that could bring jobs and self-sufficiency to Canada.
00:06:35.660
We will put forward an amendment that says that they should repeal C-75, the catch-and-release bail law.
00:06:42.300
They say they want to get their spending back kind of hilariously under control after decades of overspending.
00:06:53.460
So our amendment will put real plans in place rather than slogans and talking points.
00:06:59.260
Next, we had Alberta Premier Danielle Smith on X coming out with this response to the throne speech.
00:07:05.040
Albertans need to see the federal government reset its relationship with Alberta,
00:07:08.280
starting with a clear commitment to work with Alberta to build an oil pipeline to the northwest B.C. coast,
00:07:13.340
as well as repealing the emissions cap, Bill C-69, the tanker ban, and the net-zero electricity regulations.
00:07:20.020
While it's nice to hear the Prime Minister's commitment to build projects of national significance
00:07:23.440
and position Canada as a conventional energy superpower,
00:07:27.180
there's sadly no mention in the throne speech of any substantive actions or policy repeals
00:07:31.560
to address the priorities that I have outlined to the Prime Minister on behalf of Albertans.
00:07:35.900
I look forward to hearing from the Prime Minister about these specific action items,
00:07:39.700
times of the essence, as Albertans need to see meaningful action within weeks, not months.
00:07:45.700
Okay, next we have bloc leader Yves-Francois Blanchet saying that the speech was just an act of centralization
00:07:53.260
and that Mark Carney sees himself as the CEO of Canada.
00:07:57.360
It is the most important initiative by a federal government towards centralization that I have seen or heard of.
00:08:10.500
I believe that Mr. Carney sees himself culturally as the CEO of Canada
00:08:16.440
and he will make decisions and he will have his decisions being implemented by everybody
00:08:22.520
and he seems to see that Quebec and provinces are merely regional offices.
00:08:31.320
I've also heard that Mark Carney is the bankruptcy trustee of Canada
00:08:37.460
Next, Blanchet said that at the beginning of the campaign, the threat was Donald Trump
00:08:41.660
and during the speech, there was just no mention of Trump that he just disappeared.
00:08:47.200
The issue at the beginning of the campaign was the threat from Donald Trump
00:08:59.980
Well, of course it did because it was just a ploy to win the election.
00:09:02.880
I actually agree with the idea to not have references to President Trump in our throne speech.
00:09:07.460
The throne speech is supposed to be about Canada and the governing agenda
00:09:10.140
and there's no reason to talk about the Americans in our own throne speech.
00:09:14.660
Well, President Trump renewed his offer to Canada to become the 51st state.
00:09:20.520
This is what President Trump had to say on Truth Social on Tuesday.
00:09:23.980
He writes, I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dune system,
00:09:28.860
that it will cost $61 billion if they remain a separate but unequal nation,
00:09:35.420
but will cost $0 if they become our cherished 51st state.
00:09:41.840
I promise you they're not considering the offer.
00:09:50.640
I mean, that would pretty much get Canada across the line of spending 2% of our GDP on defence,
00:09:57.020
But it's a heck of a lot of money to be part of something that may or may not be used ever.
00:10:05.540
Canada is a sovereign nation, according to PMO.
00:10:07.980
PMO responds to Trump's Golden Dune offer in a statement to CTV News.
00:10:13.040
The Prime Minister has been very clear at every opportunity, including in his conversations with President Trump,
00:10:18.380
that Canada is an independent, sovereign nation and will remain one.
00:10:22.960
You're almost starting to think whether Trump and Carney are like coordinating this.
00:10:26.440
Like anytime Carney needs a bump in the polls or like a positive headline,
00:10:30.300
he just gets Trump to tweet something like this and then Carney gets to respond and be Captain Canada.
00:10:35.480
Well, in an interview on our favourite show, CBC, with David Cochran,
00:10:40.060
Cochran asked if he still thinks President Trump wants to break us so that he can own us
00:10:49.600
The line you said with some frequency during the election was,
00:10:56.160
I think he's, I think the president, I won't look into his soul,
00:10:59.840
but the president is recognising, as others are, just how strong and free Canada is.
00:11:05.260
And so if you look at the speech from the throne today, as you, as you did,
00:11:11.820
This is about building Canada, about making one Canadian economy out of 13.
00:11:17.940
All of the, each of those and those together give us much, much more than could ever be taken away by trade action.
00:11:24.060
Yeah. So he's out there saying that Canada is really, really strong
00:11:27.300
and the numbers are pointing a totally different direction.
00:11:30.260
I want to show you this story from the Toronto Sun.
00:11:34.260
Liberals allowing 1 million foreign students were costly to Canadians.
00:11:39.580
So Bank of Canada research shows that the federal Liberals' decision to allow 1 million foreign students
00:11:44.300
into the country had a significant impact in some employment sectors and cost Canadians jobs and wages.
00:11:50.200
The study confirmed a 2022 Employment Department report that foreign labour led to Canadian workers
00:11:58.560
They accounted for a larger share of workers in low-skilled occupations, replacing Canadian-born.
00:12:04.240
Workers who moved out of these jobs said the report.
00:12:08.520
The idea that they come to Canada as students, right?
00:12:11.080
The whole idea of coming as a student means that you're supposed to be in school.
00:12:16.700
I did an exchange program when I was in university where I went to Australia.
00:12:20.420
And when I was in Australia, my visa did not allow me to work.
00:12:24.400
I couldn't work at a coffee shop because my visa was for me to go to school and be a student.
00:12:29.960
So the idea that people can come to Canada, pretend to go to school.
00:12:36.020
And then they can go in and take the low-wage jobs of Canadians.
00:12:41.440
And yet this government has no plan to actually change a course on this.
00:12:48.060
This is what the Toronto Sun and Black Lives Matter report are based on.
00:12:52.020
So you can see just the growth in our population.
00:12:55.980
Canada is the highest growth country out of the G7 here.
00:13:00.400
But you can see how almost all of our population growth is due to immigration.
00:13:05.840
Nothing to do with our actual birth rate, which is alarmingly low.
00:13:11.860
Just look at the non-permanent residents that Canada admitted since COVID under Justin Trudeau.
00:13:17.960
It is so unbelievable that we would allow this many people to just come to our country
00:13:22.200
without any path to becoming Canadian, without any obligation to respect our laws and our customs.
00:13:32.100
It's really quite something how immigration has had this effect on Canada.
00:13:37.080
Further to Mark Carney's idea that Canada is strong.
00:13:39.660
Hudson Bay, the iconic Canadian company, is the latest and last casualty of the Trudeau government,
00:13:48.080
Hudson Bay is terminating 8,000 employees, firing them, and closing all of its stores.
00:13:58.180
It survived the British, American, and French revolutions, Napoleon, two world wars,
00:14:02.040
the Great Depression, the Great Recession, and 9-11.
00:14:03.720
But it could not survive the Trudeau Kearney liberal government.
00:14:10.320
And apparently part of the Hudson Bay company is being bought out by a Chinese investor.
00:14:23.840
So Rebel News' reporter, Alexa Levoire, bumped into a cabinet minister, former cabinet minister,
00:14:29.320
Ahmed Hussain, who just absolutely refused to even raise her, answer her questions,
00:14:37.440
And he just slowly says, you're not a journalist.
00:14:40.900
Okay, folks, the rebel is like the mirror image of the CBC.
00:14:44.260
So just imagine for a second that this was a CBC reporter and this was how Pierre Polyev
00:14:48.480
or one of the conservative MPs or shadow ministers dealt with the CBC.
00:14:54.960
But these liberal cabinet ministers, these liberal MPs, just feel such disdain towards
00:15:06.260
Any word, mister, about the Israeli government warning?
00:15:16.420
Do you believe that public servants should be accountable?
00:15:30.040
I would love to see a conservative say that to someone from the CBC.
00:15:35.520
Just like, get away from me, you pesky little peasant.
00:15:47.240
Or you could actually engage and do what politicians are supposed to be with the press, which is be held accountable and answer some questions.
00:15:56.020
And we're going to end the show on what I think is a bit of a positive note.
00:15:58.940
I've told you before that I love the Make America Healthy Again movement, the Maha movement.
00:16:03.480
Well, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. or RFKJ, he was sort of the leader of the movement.
00:16:07.440
And then he merged together with President Trump, endorsed him.
00:16:11.800
And here we have, and then he was appointed to the Health and Human Services as the secretary.
00:16:19.260
He announced that today the COVID vaccine for healthy children and healthy pregnant women has been removed from the CDC recommended immunization schedule.
00:16:27.840
Bottom line, it's common sense and good science.
00:16:29.880
We are now one step closer to realizing POTUS's promise to make America healthy again.
00:16:34.200
And there he is with NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya.
00:16:41.440
I'm sorry, but one of the things that just drives me absolutely crazy in Canada is that they still recommend this thing to children, right?
00:16:47.360
Even during COVID, we know that children weren't the ones that were getting very sick and getting very ill from COVID.
00:16:52.680
So the whole idea that they had to have this, it never made any sense.
00:16:56.400
And can I just say that for me as a mom, it made me doubt the entire immunization schedule.
00:17:02.160
The fact that that was in there, it just didn't seem right to me from everything that I read, everything that I understood about the COVID illness itself plus the vaccine.
00:17:10.320
So some common sense, a step in the right direction.
00:17:13.200
I don't really have a lot of hope that Canada will follow suit, but you never know.
00:17:17.520
And I think that this is very good for the world to make it all healthy again.
00:17:21.060
Time for Canada to have a make Canada healthy again.
00:17:25.560
