00:00:19.280 Churchill joins an esteemed club of historical figures who have had their statues defaced or torn down
00:00:25.060 in recent weeks and months in a fit of criminal rage by a nameless, faceless mob.
00:00:32.400 Canada's founding prime minister, Sir Johnny MacDonald, early advocate for universal education,
00:00:37.420 Egerton Ryerson, and Canada's founding monarch, Queen Victoria, have all become the target of
00:00:43.060 cancel culture and woke leftist vandals. And while there is some feigned condemnation from left-wing
00:00:48.900 leaders over the destruction of private property, there's also a growing political and intellectual
00:00:53.840 movement that seeks to legitimize this woke worldview. When news broke that Winston Churchill's statue had
00:01:00.860 been defaced and doused with red paint in Edmonton, Edmonton's wannabe woke mayor Don Iveson failed to
00:01:07.800 condemn the mob. Instead, he sort of promoted this idea that we should apply today's hyper-politicized
00:01:13.580 speech standards to historical figures in the past. Iveson said that he welcomed the discussion of
00:01:20.000 quote, addressing historical wrongdoings and inequalities like systemic racism, unquote. And
00:01:26.800 then he simply said that there's better ways to do this than vandalizing city property. So in other
00:01:32.020 words, he's okay with the concept of tearing down statues, of removing and canceling historical figures
00:01:38.900 who weren't adequately woke, but he just wants to do it through the government, not through mob rule.
00:01:43.680 And he believes that our society is systemically racist and needs to be dismantled. This is critical
00:01:49.520 race theory to a T. But Iveson is far from the only woke public figure promoting this divisive race-based
00:01:56.960 politics. He isn't even the wokest government official in Edmonton City Hall. I think that award
00:02:03.300 might go to Nisha Patel, who is the City of Edmonton's Poet Laureate, a taxpayer-funded government
00:02:09.900 position. And she openly voiced her support of the vandals and their political tactics.
00:02:16.620 If this is what it takes to reach a critical point where opposition is taken seriously by people who
00:02:22.780 are bigoted, this is what we have to do. We shouldn't build statues of anyone. We should take these statues
00:02:28.220 down and show that we are brave enough to embrace that we have new understandings. Not standing up for
00:02:35.180 living people as we exist today shows that you don't care about the people around you. You care more
00:02:40.780 about a name on a plaque than you do about the people who live in your own city. She told Global
00:02:45.340 News that the vandalism simply shows that any attempt at dialogue or outreach has truly failed,
00:02:51.820 and that there are angry people with valid feelings who want to express their frustration.

00:03:03.020 vandalized the statue did not harm anyone. You get that? If you're on the far left,
00:03:09.660 it's perfectly reasonable for you to be angry and for you to express that anger and that frustration
00:03:15.340 through the destruction of property. I wonder if she would apply that same logic to people on the right
00:03:20.940 who are angry about, oh, I don't know, high taxes or mismanaged immigration policies.

00:03:30.940 property? Or is it only the far left who are allowed to be angry and violent? Patel goes on to say,

00:04:20.940 attack in London, Ontario, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh told us what he really thinks of Canada.
00:04:26.300 The reality is our Canada is a place of racism, of violence, of genocide of indigenous people.
00:04:33.980 And our Canada is a place where Muslims aren't safe. They aren't. They aren't safe. Muslims are not safe in

00:05:05.260 longer safe in the world's most diverse, tolerant and open society. A 27-year-old MP in Singh's caucus
00:05:14.140 echoed her hatred for Canada in her farewell speech in the House of Commons last Tuesday.
00:05:19.980 Momilek Kakak, NDP member for NDP, blasted Canada as a colonialist hellhole built on the oppression
00:05:26.860 of indigenous people and whose history is stained with blood. Every time I walk onto House of Common
00:05:33.420 grounds, speak in these chambers, I'm reminded every step of the way I don't belong here.
00:05:39.420 I have never felt safe or protected in my position, especially within the House of Commons.
00:05:47.180 When I walk through these doors, not only am I reminded of the clear colonial house on fire I
00:05:53.020 am willingly walking into, I am already in survival mode. Since being elected, I expect to be stopped by
00:06:01.100 security at my workplace. I've had security jog after me down hallways, nearly put their hands on me,
00:06:08.540 and racial profile me as a member of parliament. People like me don't belong here in the federal
00:06:15.500 institution. I'm a human being who wants to use this institution to help people, but the reality is
00:06:22.460 that this institution and the country has been created off the backs, trauma and displacement of
00:06:30.540 indigenous people. There is nothing, nothing to take pride in, in the legacy this institution continues
00:06:40.300 to not only maintain but to build and fuel. Her angry rant, which was filled with baseless accusations
00:06:48.460 and fanatical hyperbole, was applauded and promoted by the legacy media. I've yet to see a single public
00:06:55.100 figure in this country counter her radical claims or refute her fever dream excoriation of this
00:07:01.500 country. And as for her weird claim that security stopped her from entering parliament, maybe that
00:07:06.460 has more to do with the way that she presents herself and not because of her race or her skin color.
00:07:11.340 Look, when I was her age, 27, I worked as a political staffer on Parliament Hill. And let me tell you,
00:07:17.020 I too was stopped and asked to show ID every single time I entered the building. Sure, I wasn't an MP,
00:07:23.020 but I worked there. I was there every day. And I never, ever once thought it had anything to do
00:07:28.140 with my skin color. I just assumed it had everything to do with security. But the media
00:07:34.380 and her political opponents across the aisle let her have a pass. No one asked her about this. No one
00:07:38.940 pushed back. I mean, she was only taking a shot at security guards. And in the woke's ladder of
00:07:44.620 oppression, security guards rank just slightly above police officers. So obviously they deserve all the
00:07:50.700 criticism in the world, according to the left. Instead of pushing back, media and political
00:07:56.220 leaders now allow the radical woke left to use Canada as a punching bag. The latest news today
00:08:02.380 is that the to come loops chief has called on all Canadians to cancel Canada Day and instead use the
00:08:08.940 day as a quote, learning opportunity, unquote. So instead of trying to keep things in perspective,
00:08:14.860 realizing that Canada is a great, albeit imperfect country that is always learning from past mistakes and
00:08:20.140 constantly striving to do better, we ought to just cancel Canada altogether. Defending Canada is
00:08:25.980 just now so passe. It's much more fashionable to condemn Canada as a uniquely terrible systemically
00:08:32.780 compromised fail state built on irredeemably horrendous leaders who committed unspeakable
00:08:38.540 atrocities and crimes against humanity. If that's your worldview, and it seems like that is the
00:08:44.940 legitimate worldview held by today's cultural elites. Well, then it's no wonder that they want
00:08:50.540 Churchill's head on a platter. Sure, he beat Hitler, he defeated the Nazis, he stamped out fascism across
00:08:57.260 Europe and potentially save the West from that fate. Yeah, he did all that. But you know, Canada and
00:09:03.180 probably all of Western civilization is just as bad as the Nazis. So why should we celebrate him anyway?
