00:00:48.260 over the world, frankly, and all over Canada, is this new COVID variant, new strain called the
00:00:54.860 Omicron variant, which is causing chaos. It's wreaking havoc. It's leading to border closures.
00:01:01.760 There's a huge, huge reaction to the Omicron variant, and so today on the show, we are going
00:01:06.160 to go through that reaction and break down what we know so far about this variant. So the Omicron
00:01:12.720 variant has been detected in Canada. It is here. It is in Canada. There have been four confirmed cases
00:01:17.940 of this variant in Ottawa. Others are still under investigation in Ontario. It's according to Global
00:01:23.480 News. Ontario health officials have confirmed multiple cases of the Omicron COVID-19 variant
00:01:28.720 of concern that has set off a new set of travel restrictions around the world, mostly barring
00:01:33.840 flights from Southern African nations. Ontario first confirmed Sunday that two cases of the Omicron
00:01:39.140 variant were detected in Ottawa in recent travelers from Nigeria. Quebec, likewise. Public health
00:01:45.020 officials over there have confirmed its first case of the Omicron variant, also from recent
00:01:51.020 travelers. And now, of course, because this is just the, this is what happens. We've seen this movie
00:01:57.120 before. We've lived this before. We're stuck in Groundhog Day over here. Ontario is now reviewing a third
00:02:04.740 dose vaccine strategy in the wake of this new Omicron variant, says the top doctor in Ontario. We'll be
00:02:11.600 reviewing options and providing them to government in the next few days. And I would anticipate an
00:02:16.200 announcement by the end of the week on an enhanced strategy to best protect Ontarians, said Dr. Kieran
00:02:21.820 Moore, the top doctor in the province of Ontario. So Canada has moved quickly this time around and put
00:02:28.100 a travel ban on flights from South Africa and neighboring countries. This report comes to us from
00:02:33.700 Post Media. It says Canada is closing the border to all foreigners who have been to seven countries in
00:02:39.180 southern Africa in the last 14 days as a new terrifying COVID-19 variant of concern raises
00:02:45.620 alarm around the world. Okay, I inserted the word terrifying. That wasn't in the copy. But really, we
00:02:51.500 are really, really reacting. We are really reacting to this new variant. So this is from Global News.
00:02:56.560 Omicron variant prompts emergency. G7 health meeting, including Canada. So the health ministers of the
00:03:02.740 richest and most powerful seven countries in the world have already gotten together to scheme and to
00:03:08.880 talk and to try to figure out what to do, what to do about this Omicron variant. So Health Minister
00:03:15.200 Jean-Yves Duclos and his counterparts from the other G7 countries agreed Monday to closely monitor and share
00:03:21.880 information about the highly mutated Omicron variant of COVID-19. And it's not just the federal health experts
00:03:28.880 that are sounding the alarm bell. Ontario Premier Doug Ford calls the new COVID-19 variant concerning as
00:03:35.840 Canada implements a travel ban. So anyone arriving before the van is implemented should be tested and
00:03:41.840 quarantined, including the many passengers arriving today, said Doug Ford. Out of an abundance of caution,
00:03:47.540 we must also reintroduce point of arrival testing for all passengers arriving to Canada, regardless of
00:03:52.940 where they're coming from. And Aaron O'Toole has jumped on the bandwagon as well. This is what he posted
00:03:58.480 on Twitter. The Liberals failed to shut down the border from high risk countries at the beginning of the
00:04:03.080 pandemic. Canadians can't afford Trudeau to make the same mistake again. That would be a good point.
00:04:09.320 And I agree that Trudeau waited far too long to close the border from China. And as we all recall,
00:04:14.360 we were told that closing the borders back in 2020 was racist, that anyone calling for a border ban or
00:04:22.540 quarantine from China was just a horrible racist person. We heard that from the health minister. We
00:04:27.780 heard that from the top doctor in Canada, Theresa Tam. We heard it from the prime minister.
00:04:32.060 This time around, though, they had a change of tune. So here, Alberta is also implementing new
00:04:38.200 measures to track the immigrant variant, but no cases currently identified. So it doesn't matter
00:04:42.940 that they haven't had any cases yet. Alberta is still reacting. So contact tracing and notification,
00:04:48.240 PCR testing for all close contacts and rapid testing for households, specific settings such as
00:04:53.500 schools and childcare facilities are being implemented by the province for all COVID-19 cases identified
00:04:58.860 in returning international travelers in order to track potential cases of the new Omicron variant.
00:05:05.880 Okay, so all of this is very concerning. Everybody is very concerned about this highly mutated variant.
00:05:11.880 And what does it what about our vaccine status? What about vaccinations? I myself have been
00:05:16.280 vaccinated. I've had two two of the jabs from Moderna. So let's see what Moderna has to say about
00:05:22.920 whether I will be protected from this new variant. According to our friends over at Yon News, which is
00:05:28.960 an Indian news source out of New Delhi, they report that Moderna says that current vaccines are not
00:05:35.120 effective against the Omicron variant. So the Omicron variant of the coronavirus, according to
00:05:40.060 Moderna's senior medical officer, may evade existing vaccinations. If this is confirmed, Paul Burton suggested
00:05:47.300 to the BBC's The Andrew Marr Show on Sunday that a reformulated vaccine might be ready as early as 2022.
00:05:55.220 We should know about the ability of the current vaccine to provide protections in the next couple
00:05:59.900 of weeks. But the remarkable thing about the mRNA vaccine Moderna platform is that we can move very
00:06:06.440 fast. He said, okay, so so bad news for me, I guess the Omicron variant, I will not be protected
00:06:12.460 against it with my current double dose of Moderna. But but good news is on the way, says Moderna.
00:06:18.240 Moderna says Omicron COVID-19 vaccine could be ready as early as 2022. This is according to Global.
00:06:24.700 So the same fellow Dr. Paul Burton, Moderna's chief medical officer, said in an interview that if a new
00:06:30.820 vaccine is necessary, it's going to be ready soon, early 2022. It's going to be available in large
00:06:37.260 quantities. So so what a coincidence, they're going to have a new vaccine just in time for the Omicron
00:06:42.440 variant. So so I guess I guess we're just doomed to constantly be forced to be vaccinated in order
00:06:49.180 to keep up with the ever moving goalposts of the COVID industry. So let's just pause for a moment
00:06:54.780 before we all rush out to go get a new a new vaccine before we rush out to go into lockdown again to
00:07:01.720 to implement all these travel bans that we should have implemented in 2020. We didn't. Now this time
00:07:06.840 around, we're not wasting any time. Every politician from every political party is jumping over themselves.
00:07:12.120 to try to close the borders, lock things down again. But let's just pause for a moment and try to research
00:07:18.860 and try to learn a little bit about the Omicron variant and what we know about it. Because the reality is
00:07:24.580 we just don't really know very much about the Omicron variant at this point. Very little is known. So this
00:07:30.340 comes from the CBC, Canada's first cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant confirmed in Ottawa. It says this,
00:07:36.280 little is known about the new variant dubbed Omicron by the World Health Organization and labeled as a
00:07:41.360 variant of concern. It is being linked to a rapid rise of cases in a South African province. It is not
00:07:48.240 known at this time whether the variant is more transmissible or more dangerous to the health of
00:07:53.140 those who are affected by it than the other coronavirus cases. So so so wait a second. So so at this point,
00:07:58.840 all we know is that there's a rapid rise in cases in the South African province. Okay, we don't really
00:08:03.480 know much about that South African province. We don't know what the health care is like over there.
00:08:07.820 And then it says this, that it is not known whether it's more transmissible. It's not known whether it's
00:08:13.280 more dangerous to the health of those infected by it. So so we don't even know at this point how
00:08:18.640 dangerous or how transmissible it is. And yet we're all jumping over ourselves to try to protect ourselves
00:08:24.040 against it. This this is sort of the impact of of what almost two years of conditioning from
00:08:29.940 governments, that that that that there is nothing more important than our health, that there's
00:08:34.260 nothing more important than our safety, that we should be willing to sacrifice everything for it,
00:08:38.520 sacrifice our liberty, our freedom, our ability to go outside, sacrifice the education of our children,
00:08:43.740 the development of our children, sacrifice jobs, sacrifice small businesses, sacrifice the future,
00:08:49.380 our economic stability, the future of our currency, all to protect our health from this coronavirus.
00:08:55.220 We're conditioned. So now anytime there's a new variant or news of a new variant or potential new
00:09:00.700 variant, we all dive over ourselves to try to protect ourselves. This this is not a good sign.
00:09:06.160 Even Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario's chief public health officer, says that we really don't have the
00:09:11.600 information yet about Omicron. Here is a clip of that. As you realize, this is a rapidly changing
00:09:17.260 environment. Lots of questions yet about this new strain that we have to have answers for. We need to
00:09:23.340 understand really, if this is a virulent infection, if it makes people significantly sick or leads them
00:09:30.120 to hospitalization. We really don't have that information yet. So I could understand in an
00:09:35.480 abundance of caution, putting some measures in play like we've done already. And whether as we get more
00:09:41.320 and more information, we put further public health measures in play, I can assure you we'll work with
00:09:47.220 our federal partners to do that.
00:09:48.560 And that seems to be the consensus from news reports that I've seen. This is according to
00:09:55.420 the Associated Press, what we know and don't know about the Omicron variant. By Sunday, the United
00:10:00.120 Nations Health Agency issued a statement on Omicron that boiled down to this. We don't know much yet.
00:10:06.120 It said it wasn't clear if infection with Omicron causes more severe disease, even as it cited data
00:10:11.920 from South Africa showing rising rates of hospitalizations there. But that could be because
00:10:16.100 people are getting infected with COVID, not specifically the Omicron variant. So according
00:10:22.100 to Bloomberg, the Omicron variant is mild so far, experts say. But the WHO still urges caution.
00:10:28.960 Symptoms linked to the Omicron coronavirus variant have been mild so far, according to COVID-19 advisor
00:10:34.160 to the South African government and Petroia doctor who first sounded the alarm bell of the new strain.
00:10:39.640 The World Health Organization cautioned, there's no information that symptoms caused by Omicron are
00:10:45.380 different from other strains. Again, this all boils down to guesswork. We don't really know.
00:10:50.940 Here is a report from CTV. Infectious diseases specialist at Toronto General Hospital, Dr. Isaac
00:10:58.000 Burko said it's too early to say how contagious the new variant is. You're going to hear a lot of scary
00:11:04.000 things over the next day or two. But the truth is, we just don't know about it. But we're going to
00:11:09.820 learn a ton about this over the days and probably over the weeks to come, he told CP24 on Friday.
00:11:16.600 And we have the WHO. The WHO says it's not clear if Omicron causes more severe disease. This is over
00:11:22.720 on routers. The World Health Organization said on Sunday, it is not clear if the new Omicron coronavirus
00:11:28.320 variant is more transmissible compared to other variants or if it causes more severe disease.
00:11:34.300 Preliminary data suggests there are increasing rates of hospitalization in South Africa, but this
00:11:39.300 may be due to increasing overall numbers of people becoming infected rather than the result of specific
00:11:44.920 infection with Omicron, it said. However, in a statement, the agency reiterated that preliminary
00:11:50.180 evidence suggests there may be a higher risk of infection from the variant. Well, if Moderna is saying
00:11:56.780 that the Moderna vaccine doesn't even protect against this variant, perhaps that is why we are
00:12:01.320 of higher risk. But here's the thing. This is the problem with where we are as a society nearing the
00:12:07.560 end of 2021, again, nearing the two-year mark of the COVID pandemic and all of the corresponding
00:12:13.440 lockdowns, fear-mongering, closures, paranoia that has been born out of this COVID virus, which is just as
00:12:22.780 bad, if not worse, than the virus itself. We now live in a society that is paranoid, a society that
00:12:27.960 is willing to sacrifice liberty for the pursuit of safety, the pursuit of good health. And we allow
00:12:33.560 politicians to just dictate to us that, okay, borders are closed now. Forget about the fact that
00:12:38.820 it's a Christmas holiday, that people might have trips planned, that people might have family members
00:12:42.980 coming to visit. We're just going to completely overreact. That is a situation where we have been led.
00:12:48.340 Let me just say, when I heard about this emergency G7 meeting of the health ministers of the richest
00:12:54.720 seven countries, my mind immediately went to this Ryan Long clip. Ryan Long is a brilliant sketch
00:13:01.500 comedy writer and comedian. He's Canadian, but he's based out in New York. He does these brilliant
00:13:06.420 YouTube videos, basically making fun of the left, making fun of the woke left. Most comedy these days
00:13:11.620 doesn't do that. They're too afraid to go after the left. They only go after the right. Ryan Long is one of
00:13:15.660 those fearless and brilliant comedians who is willing to make fun of the left. And he did a
00:13:20.800 video, and I'm going to play it for you because again, you know, this is an American version. He's
00:13:25.440 making fun of governors, but it could just as easily be Justin Trudeau and, you know, his health
00:13:30.200 minister scheming on ways to lock us down again. So let's play this. It's about two minutes, but it is
00:13:36.040 good. Three governors once revered by the public. Hey, we're governors. Show us some goddamn respect. My book
00:13:43.080 deal just got revoked. Everything's opening up. They're not even asking for permission anymore. They used to
