00:01:25.000Welcome to this episode of the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:01:27.000I am just so thrilled, and we are honored to be joined today by Herschel Walker, Heisman Trophy winner and national championship for the University of Georgia Bulldogs and someone that I really look up to.
00:01:38.000Herschel, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show.
00:02:44.000And what was so unique about this situation here is, you know, being known Donald Trump for 37 years, not one time has he asked Herschel Walker to speak for him.
00:02:54.000Not one time did he ever ask if I go on and say something about racism or go on and say something about who he was.
00:03:02.000And this was something I decided that I wanted to do.
00:03:05.000And the reason I wanted to do it, I wanted people to know the type of man he was.
00:03:09.000I think it was unfair that people don't know the truth.
00:03:12.000You know, I've heard so many crazy things, and I said it in my speech that I was appalled and I was sort of angered by what people have called him, the names and different things, because I've seen a lot of people in the African American community.
00:03:26.000When I was there with President Trump, that was his friends.
00:03:30.000And I never seen him do anything wrong to them.
00:03:33.000And yet now they've come out and called him all types of names.
00:03:50.000And I decided I wanted to say something about this president here because I probably have known him longer than anyone that had been speaking about him.
00:03:58.000So I thought that it would be only the fair thing for me to do is go on to and do something for him and speak the truth.
00:04:06.000And you've known the president for 37 years.
00:04:12.000I find it funny because all these people who are saying these mean names against the president have never known him, let alone known him for many decades like you have in many different capacities in a capacity of business and sports and other realms.
00:04:24.000Can you talk about some of the response you received?
00:04:26.000I read an article that said you lost friends over that speech.
00:04:30.000Well, what's funny about that, I may have lost one or two friends, but if a friend disagrees with you because of your opinion, he's not a friend to begin with.
00:04:40.000But I have gained tons of people that I didn't know.
00:04:44.000And I have friends that, you know, they may disagree with me, but they still give me, they still have faith in me because they know me.
00:06:56.000You look it up and see what he's done for African American.
00:06:58.000And not only as you're looking it up, I said, look up what the Democratic Party has done for African American people in the last couple of years.
00:07:07.000You know, I look at the young lady, Kim, from Baltimore.
00:07:12.000I said, was that not a compelling story that she told?
00:07:15.000And I said, guys, you have to look at that.
00:07:57.000And when you have fact-driven arguments and logical thinking, then you're actually able to improve your society, not turn people against each other.
00:08:05.000I want to talk, Herschel, for a second here about the college and NFL football lockdowns.
00:08:12.000I said right before this interview, I think you are the best college football player in the history of the sport.
00:08:17.000Heisman Trophy winner, most dominant, so incredible to watch.
00:08:20.000I'm so upset at how college football has just caved to all of the highly politicized demands from individuals to shut down everything in society, specifically the Big Ten and the Pac-12.
00:08:36.000And I'll say one thing about this, Herschel.
00:08:37.000So the Big Ten says, we're not going to play maybe until Thanksgiving or until next year.
00:08:42.000Well, what do they think their players are going to do in the month of September of October?
00:08:46.000Do you think they're more or less incentivized to try and protect themselves from getting the virus?
00:08:51.000With no football, they'll go to the big parties.
00:08:53.000They'll probably go to the super spreader events, and they'll probably have more likelihood to get the virus, which is the opposite of their intention.
00:08:59.000Can you talk about the shutdowns of college football and a little bit of the NFL?
00:09:04.000The NFL is not as much locked down, but please, what are your thoughts on this?
00:09:08.000You obviously have a lot of credibility in this subject.
00:09:11.000Well, it is extremely, extremely sad to me that I see the college has shut this down.
00:09:18.000The reason why is those players are in a controlled environment.
00:09:22.000They're under some of the best doctors in the world at these different universities.
00:09:42.000You're talking about catching the virus.
00:09:44.000Would you not like being able to catch the virus under a controlled environment with great, great doctors or at home where they have no help at all?
00:09:52.000And then they talk about what could happen.
00:09:55.000Well, concussion has become a big, big issue.
00:10:14.000So when this came about, I said, guys, this is being politicized that people are talking about this virus.
00:10:22.000And I said, and they also separating the people because if you look at it in professional sports, let's go to the professional sports.
00:10:28.000I said, what is interesting is I heard a coach, well, I can call his name, Coach Carroll, CL Seahawk, go into this thing about, you know, America was built on slavery and the white man don't understand and all this.
00:10:44.000And, you know, you got to kneel and all this stuff here.
00:10:46.000And I'm like, what about some of your players that may not want to do this?
00:10:50.000What about them having their own way of thinking?
00:10:52.000But yet you now put the pressure on them that they have to go about what the system is telling them or now they're going to be kicked out or they're going to be looked down bad on them.
00:11:13.000You're putting people on your jersey that broke the law.
00:11:17.000I'm not saying no one should be killed, but I'm saying, wait a minute, they broke the law.
00:11:21.000Well, when you wanted to put a police officer, I mean, the Cowboys wanted to put a police officer that was killed in the line of duty, the NFL said no.
00:11:28.000Well, now it's okay to put someone that broke the law.
00:12:11.000And then they said, but now, and I do say this: if I had jumped out of the car and started fighting with them and took off running, they deserved to shoot me.
00:12:20.000But because I was respectful, and I said, Yes, sir.
00:12:41.000But I see the Democratic Party now is playing up to this, stirring the people up, and they're blaming their president when the president said, let's stop the violence altogether.
00:12:50.000But yet, I don't see the Democratic Party talking about the black on black crime.
00:12:55.000The black on black crime is really, really bad.
00:12:58.000I don't see them talking about these young kids that have been killed, which is absolutely terrible.
00:13:02.000Kids are sleeping in their beds, kids that are doing absolutely nothing, the innocent kids.
00:13:07.000I don't see them talking about the police officers that are killed.
00:13:50.000Well, and Pete Carroll came out and said specifically that white people do not have a clue or don't know enough about racism in America, basically giving a lecture.
00:14:00.000And so the NFL is planning massive social justice exercises, kneeling during the national anthem.
00:14:06.000What is your opinion on the kneeling during the national anthem, the disrespect towards our flag and first responders?
00:14:12.000How are we supposed to, what is your take on this?
00:14:15.000Well, you know, first of all, they're saying they're kneeling because it's their freedom of speech annealing.
00:19:03.000If you want to do that, because you're in America, you have the right to do that.
00:19:07.000Because you're in America, you do have those rights to do and believe what you want to.
00:19:11.000But also, the people got the right to believe and do what they want to against you.
00:19:16.000But as long as you don't injure anyone, as long as you don't hurt anyone, and the other night when I was in Washington leaving the convention, I saw a lot of BLM signs of people trying to hurt other people.
00:19:32.000And one of the major things I disagree with is when I saw a BLM sign being held up and I saw them burning the Holy Bible, the United States flag, and a cross.
00:19:43.000I said, do the basketball team stand for that?
00:19:47.000Because that means you're standing for BLM.
00:19:50.000And I said, I just totally, totally, totally disagree with it.
00:19:54.000And I guarantee you, the majority of Americans, because we are good people here in the United States of America, do not believe in something like that.
00:20:33.000Do you think that it would be a good thing if the black community was more, let's say, split-ticketed in their voting, voted less Democrat all the time and actually gave Republicans a chance?
00:20:45.000And do you think the president has an opportunity to expand his base of support in the black community?
00:20:51.000I think the president got a very good chance at expanding his base.
00:20:54.000And the reason why, I think people are starting to wake up.
00:20:58.000And, you know, when you start looking at the Democratic Party, the only reason they started caring about the violence in these cities is when a news company said, hey, we're losing in the polls.
00:21:09.000That was the only reason they decided to speak out that there's violence in the city.
00:21:14.000Otherwise, they were okay with whatever was going on.
00:21:16.000And then when they decided to speak out, they blame the president when he's the one that's trying to stop the violence in the city.
00:21:23.000And I said, guys, one thing that's interesting, this president has had an open hand this whole time to welcome African Americans into the White House, to welcome professional athletes into the White House to listen to their problem.
00:21:39.000But every time he's had an open hand, they've almost slapped it.
00:21:42.000And I said, how in the world can you ask a president of the United States of America who welcomes you into his home to change things?
00:22:54.000Not what he says, not what he tweets, but what he does.
00:22:57.000And it first step back, record funding the historical black college universities before the shutdown, the lowest ever black unemployment, black poverty rate, the lowest ever before the shutdown, wages going up, black business startups going up, opportunity zones, all of these things the president was able to talk about.
00:23:17.000President Obama had eight years and he might have had it on his to-do list to do it, but he didn't do it.
00:23:23.000And so I think that's a really convincing argument to be able to say is that, look, the president, despite all of the media propaganda against him, went out of his way to actually deliver results for a community that didn't vote for him.
00:23:47.000And the first thing you want to say is, how many people, how many, I said, how many people that has been running for office has done almost everything they said that they were going to do.
00:23:58.000Most everyone run for office don't do anything they say they're going to do.
00:25:53.000And it's okay for black on black crime, but don't the police get involved with it, even though that is so low that police kill African Americans.
00:26:00.000There's more black on black crimes than there were police killing African Americans.
00:26:04.000They don't really care about all those fights.
00:26:05.000And I said, guys, that's what I want people to know.
00:26:08.000This president here is making the change that we were looking for, giving us better jobs, giving us things that we can do.
00:26:50.000And what's amazing is that the president was called all these awful names, was insulted by a lot of black leadership in the inner cities.
00:27:00.000And yet the president said, I am the president of all Americans.
00:27:03.000And he did what he did not have to do, which was deliver results for black America.
00:27:09.000And yet, as you said, Amazon is giving all this money to BLM, but are they actually putting in their factories or their distribution warehouses in black communities?
00:27:41.000Can you just talk about that from a leadership development standpoint?
00:27:45.000Yes, you know, to all the African-American young men and women out there, I want to tell you, we're powerful beyond, and we have more power than you can ever think.
00:27:53.000And I love being an African-American man, but I want to tell you that as we go into the next generation, we must realize that we are people that can make changes.
00:28:03.000But the way we make changes is not through protesting.
00:28:06.000The way we make changes is through our actions or going to Washington, going getting an education.
00:29:10.000And I can, and Charlie, I want to say this.
00:29:12.000And I want to say this to all kids, not just the African-American kid.
00:29:17.000This is major for them, but to all kids, because there are problems in the United States of America that just not stemming from African-American.
00:29:24.000But I want everyone to know that we all are Americans, that we got to fight for America.
00:29:31.000We need to vote for the right person, not just on the federal side, but on the local side as well.
00:29:37.000Because you see the local officials that are not doing their job.
