00:02:39.000 On the first, I guess the president doesn't have a great sense of the State of the Union yet, is the lore, the history of it after the first 50 or so days of his administration.
00:02:48.000 So we call it the State of the Union the other three years out of four.
00:02:51.000 But that's basically what it is.
00:02:53.000 And I will have some preview.
00:02:55.000 I've got some details from a source.
00:02:57.000 I would say close to the president on what we can expect for tonight.
00:03:00.000 I'll have some of those at the bottom of the hour today, plus a bunch of other news.
00:03:05.000 But I do want to welcome in right now Peter Schweitzer, who is the number one New York Times bestselling author of many, many books.
00:03:12.000 And he is also one of our senior contributors at Breitbart News and one of my, I would say, mentors in the research space.

00:03:31.000 Peter, this first 50 or so days of the Trump administration...
00:03:35.000 All roads lead to China.
00:03:37.000 All of this is about countering China.
00:03:39.000 And let me give you a rundown of what I'm talking about.
00:03:41.000 Pressure placed on taking back the Panama Canal or at least not having Chinese companies run the Panama Canal.
00:03:47.000 That's about China.
00:03:48.000 Greenland is about Chinese encroachment into the Arctic.
00:03:51.000 Ukraine mineral deal is about Chinese dominance in minerals around the world.
00:03:57.000 Tariffs, etc.
00:03:58.000 on Mexico and Canada.
00:03:59.000 All this is about that they've allowed their countries to get overrun with Chinese fentanyl and they've allowed Chinese police stations, other things like that at various points.
00:04:08.000 I think the list goes on.
00:04:09.000 I think the icing out of Ukraine in that negotiation in Saudi Arabia and only including Russia, that was all about trying to pull Russia away from the Sinosphere and to the United States.
00:04:19.000 This is what it's all about for me.
00:04:21.000 I feel like everything is actually about China, though Trump will not say China.
00:04:24.000 I think this is brilliant.
00:04:25.000 And it gives us, in the commentariat space, a lot of room to play.
00:04:29.000 But you know China better than anyone.
00:04:31.000 What's your take on all this?
00:04:32.000 No, I think you're right.
00:04:33.000 And look, what you're seeing with Trump is the arrival of something we haven't seen since really the 1980s with Reagan, which is a grand strategy.
00:04:41.000 Looking at the road, looking at the map around the world and tracing what the challenges, what the threats are and what the opportunities are for the United States.
00:04:52.000 And we are essentially in a bipolar world now where it's China and the United States.
00:04:56.000 So each one of those issues you talked about, you're quite right.
00:05:00.000 China's at the heart of it.
00:05:01.000 I think you're particularly right on the issue of Ukraine.
00:05:05.000 Because what's happened is, look, I side with the Ukrainian people.
00:05:10.000 What Russia did was terrible.
00:05:13.000 Putin is responsible for this.
00:05:15.000 But the fact that we have aggressively gone after Russia and essentially adopted the position that we're not going to have any negotiations has pushed Russia into the corner with China, which is actually not a natural fit.
00:05:31.000 Long-time rivals.
00:05:32.000 They share a long border.
00:05:33.000 But it's put Putin in this role of having to rely increasingly on China.
00:05:37.000 If we are able to actually come up with a just peace agreement with Ukraine that moves Russia's isolation and dependence on China, that is a huge, huge win for the United States and a huge loss for China.
00:05:52.000 So I think what's happening is very exciting.
00:05:55.000 We'll see how successful these initiatives are.
00:05:58.000 But I think the early indication...
00:06:00.000 Questions are very, very good.
00:06:02.000 You know, one thing that people might not know about Peter is that he first got connected with us at Breitbart when he was our editor of Big Peace, which was Andrew Breitbart's first national security foreign policy blog that he started.
00:06:13.000 So Peter's got expertise in this way as well.
00:06:16.000 And again, personal biases aside, Peter, what do you make of Zelensky's sort of meltdown in the Oval Office where he was vaguely threatening us and then the mineral deal, which was as good as signed, apparently, just didn't end up getting signed.
00:06:31.000 And then he went on Fox News.
00:06:34.000 He didn't really apologize for anything.
00:06:35.000 He sort of doubled down in a lot of ways.
00:06:38.000 All this, I don't fully have my mind around what's going on.
00:06:41.000 From your perspective, what do you think is really happening?
00:06:44.000 Well, I think Zelensky went into the Oval Office and was supposed to sign an agreement.
00:06:49.000 All sides expected that was going to happen.
00:06:52.000 And Zelensky started to make a moral argument.
00:06:55.000 In the middle of the consummation of a deal.
00:06:58.000 And I understand the moral argument he's making.
00:07:01.000 But the fact of the matter is that Ukraine can't win this war.
00:07:07.000 You know, Russia, the estimates are Russia's suffered up to 900,000 casualties, which for the United States, that would be like close to 2 million people, an extraordinary number.
00:07:18.000 But Ukraine's numbers are just as bad, if not worse, in proportion to the population size.
00:07:23.000 They're, you know, a third or a quarter the size of Russia.
00:07:26.000 So as the war grinds out, they are not going to be able to win this war.
00:07:32.000 So you've got to think about what's the best deal that we can get.
00:07:37.000 And Zelensky's of the mindset that he doesn't want a deal.
00:07:40.000 So he's trying to make a moral argument.
00:07:42.000 And that's not the place to do it.
00:07:44.000 So I think it was a big mistake on his part.
00:07:47.000 And, you know, Europe is not really willing to back him.
00:07:51.000 The Guardian had a really interesting survey that they put out yesterday where they asked all these European countries, people, you know, do you think that Ukraine needs more financial and military support vis-a-vis Russia?
00:08:05.000 And majorities in every single country say absolutely yes.
00:08:09.000 Then the second question is, would you like your country to give more to the Ukrainian cause?
00:08:14.000 And clear majorities all say...
00:08:16.000 No.
00:08:17.000 So, you know, Europe doesn't want to do anything other than moralize.
00:08:21.000 So the fact of the matter is you've got to cut a deal.
00:08:23.000 It's got to be a just and fair deal.
00:08:25.000 Putin has already paid an enormous price for this invasion, as he should have.
00:08:30.000 But you've got to try to cobble something together.
00:08:32.000 And I think Zelensky thought he would go there and moralize and it would actually be to his benefit.
00:08:38.000 And, of course, Trump and J.D. Vance said, no, we're not going to do that.
00:08:41.000 Yeah, him re-litigating the origins of the war, which was, I don't understand who allowed him to do that.
00:08:48.000 Maybe he doesn't have good advisors.
00:08:49.000 Maybe he's not that bright of a guy.
00:08:51.000 I don't get it because that was not what Trump cares about at all.
00:08:55.000 Trump wants to bring this thing to a close.
00:08:56.000 He doesn't care about really who started it.
00:08:58.000 Yeah, Putin started it, but Putin started it because Joe Biden's weakness.
00:09:01.000 I have a whole chapter on this in my book, Breaking Biden, explaining this.
00:09:05.000 And a lot of it was that the Biden administration for years and prior to that, Obama had had these overtures in Ukraine that they could one day join NATO.
00:09:13.000 This is a total nonstarter with the American people and anyone who I think wants to avoid nuclear war.
00:09:18.000 What did you make of Zelensky's repetition that he needs security guarantees?
00:09:22.000 What does that look like to you?
00:09:24.000 Security guarantees, that basically means a promise that we'll go to war with Russia?
00:09:28.000 That's insane.
00:09:29.000 Why is he suggesting that?
00:09:30.000 Yeah, well, he's suggesting it because he wants it.
00:09:33.000 But he's not going to get it.
00:09:34.000 I mean, of course, if you're the Ukrainian president, of course you want the United States to say, we're going to protect you.
00:09:40.000 The fact of the matter is, the logical entity to protect...
00:09:45.000 Ukraine, in terms of security guarantees, is Europe.
00:09:48.000 It's not the United States.
00:09:49.000 You can look back at the 1980s.
00:09:52.000 I was a huge Reagan fan.
00:09:53.000 The United States was not near bankruptcy when Reagan was president.
00:09:57.000 The GDP ratio to our national debt is astronomical compared to what it was in the 1980s.
00:10:05.000 We cannot afford to have those security guarantees.
00:10:08.000 So, you know, as somebody put it online, you have a Europe, a region.
00:10:14.000 With 300 million people asking the United States with less people to hold off a country with 160 million people, which is Russia.
00:10:23.000 It's absurd.
00:10:24.000 Europe needs to step up.
00:10:26.000 If they want to sermonize and say this is important, they should provide security guarantees.
00:10:30.000 The British, French militaries, and the Germans could absolutely do it.
00:10:34.000 And the minerals deal, the genius in my mind of the minerals deal, is not just that it benefits the United States strategically in getting the minerals, but it does wed us to Ukraine.
00:10:43.000 We now have something of value for us that gives us an interest long after Donald Trump leaves the Oval Office, who's ever president.
00:10:52.000 It's going to be concerned about making sure that our mineral interests in Ukraine, so it weds us to them without offering an absolute military guarantee.
00:11:00.000 J.D. Vance summed it up best.
00:11:02.000 He said the minerals deal is a way better security guarantee than European troops.
00:11:06.000 It's a long-term investment in their sovereignty.
00:11:08.000 Perfectly put.

00:12:35.000 Give me your 30,000 foot on Doge.
00:12:37.000 The left thinks that they've got us on this one.
00:12:39.000 They think that cutting government waste to all sorts of transgender initiatives in foreign countries is what Americans want right now.
00:12:47.000 I think they're nuts.
00:12:48.000 But they're trying to make it seem like Musk is infringing on people's privacy and getting private stuff.
00:12:54.000 And it is essential for us to fund, you know, trans Sesame Street all over the world.
00:13:00.000 I don't totally get their take, but do you feel like they've got anything here?
00:13:04.000 And what's your personal opinion of how Doge is going so far?
00:13:07.000 I think Doge is terrific, and I think I'm very encouraged about where it seems to be heading.
00:13:14.000 I think what you're seeing on the left is kind of a reaction mode because Trump's doing it.
00:13:18.000 They're automatically against it.
00:13:20.000 But there's also, I think, a deeper element here, Alex.
00:13:23.000 I mean, we talk about the waste and the abuse.
00:13:28.000 Which are, of course, huge components of this, you know, transgenders in Guatemala, you know, ridiculous expenditures here.
00:13:35.000 But there's a deeper battle that's going on here because a lot of this money that flows through these grants and through these contracts are to the political class in Washington, D.C. It's a business model.
00:13:47.000 You look at USAID and some of these government agencies.
00:13:51.000 Huge amounts of the contract money actually never goes to the developing world.
00:13:55.000 It stays in the Washington Beltway to consultancies that are run by political operatives that help get people elected.
00:14:03.000 So part of the pushback in Washington, D.C. is, I think, from the fact that Wait a minute.
00:14:08.000 This slush fund that we operated for all these years is being shut down or is being exposed.
00:14:13.000 So that's part of the resistance.
00:14:15.000 And that, to me, is the most valuable thing.
00:14:18.000 Yes, are they buying pens and pencils for, you know, $25 a piece, and that's a waste?
00:14:23.000 Of course.
00:14:24.000 The deeper issue for me is the fact that this has been a tool of paying off political allies and campaign contributors with our money.
00:14:31.000 It's a business model, and that's being exposed.
00:14:34.000 That's the most valuable thing that's happening.
00:14:36.000 Yeah, this is exactly right.
00:14:38.000 And this is why I'm completely obsessed with the Stacey Abrams NGO that started with $100 and somehow had $100 in 2023 and somehow got $2 billion in 2024. Peter, I understand how this isn't just a monumental, earth-changing scandal.
00:14:54.000 It feels like the sort of thing that if Andrew Breitbart was alive, he would have spent every day for 90 days just talking about this and only this until everyone got the picture.
00:15:03.000 And I feel like we just moved on from it.
00:15:05.000 I ask...
00:15:06.000 Lee Zeldin, who's the EPA administrator, about it, because I guess it went through the EPA for this environmental fund, about this on my Alex Marlowe show yesterday.
00:15:14.000 And he told me he's working with the FBI and the DOJ to investigate.
00:15:18.000 But, I mean, who knows if we're going to get to the bottom of this.
00:15:21.000 Did that one jump out at you as a bad one?
00:15:23.000 Were there any lowlights for you thus far that Doge has uncovered?
00:15:26.000 Yeah, no, I mean, I think that's a bad one.
00:15:28.000 But here's the challenge we face, right?
00:15:30.000 I mean, and this is how bad Washington, D.C. is.
00:15:33.000 If you give a $2 billion government grant to an organization that had $1,000 that was just started up a couple of months before, that actually may not be illegal.
00:15:45.000 That's the shocking thing, and that's the problem.
00:15:48.000 So if we're looking for Stacey Abrams to go to jail over this, it's probably not going to happen because they know how these games are played, and there was probably technically no law that was violated.
00:15:58.000 But what you're seeing is what I call legal graft.
00:16:02.000 It's like the old Tammany Hall corruption.
00:16:04.000 They do things within existing law.
00:16:07.000 Nobody's going to go to jail, but it's absolutely as corrupt as something that is illegal.
00:16:13.000 That's why it needs to be halted.
00:16:14.000 And that's why it needs to be prevented from happening.
00:16:17.000 So exposure and embarrassment is great.
00:16:20.000 And we need to find out who the decision makers are and make sure they can't do it again.
00:16:24.000 But we should probably not expect anybody to go to jail because it's probably not illegal.
00:16:28.000 Remember, the people doing this are the people that write their own rules.
00:16:32.000 So they're going to know what the rules are and they're going to avoid doing something illegal.
00:16:36.000 Peter, this is such an important point that you made also, that I think this money is going to those AstroTurf town halls that we're seeing popping up.
00:16:43.000 I think this is about electioneering.
00:16:44.000 It's not just about handouts and money making.
00:16:47.000 I think it's even deeper than that.
00:16:48.000 It's about creating a permanent structure for these Democrats.
00:16:51.000 Oh, absolutely.
00:16:52.000 I mean, you see that in the government grants.
00:16:54.000 You also see that in the Department of Justice.
00:16:56.000 You know, they will go after Morgan Stanley and say that, you know, you violated these laws.
00:17:01.000 And then they will negotiate a settlement for $300 million.
00:17:04.000 And we all think, OK, Morgan Stanley is now sending $300 million to the U.S. Treasury.
00:17:10.000 No, the Department of Justice under the Biden administration, under the Obama administration, says, well, make a donation to these nonprofit organizations to rectify.
00:17:20.000 The problem.
00:17:21.000 But these are activist groups that are being funded in this way.
00:17:25.000 So you have this large infrastructure of entities and organizations.
00:17:29.000 There's one called the International Democratic Institute that we're looking at that got $180 million in grants from the federal government.
00:17:40.000 Peter, I gotta leave it there, but let me plug all your stuff.

00:18:56.000 And the White House has sent me some highlights of what we're anticipating.
00:19:00.000 We're not going to bigfoot Trump here.
00:19:03.000 So these are going to be roughly what we're looking at.
00:19:06.000 But the theme of the speech is the renewal of the American dream.
00:19:09.000 There's breaking news here on The Charlie Kirk Show.
00:19:12.000 Four main parts of the speech can be broken out into four parts as far as we know.
00:19:16.000 Trump is going to review his accomplishments from his first months, and I've got a long list of what those are, and a lot of them are going to be border-related.
00:19:22.000 A lot of them are going to be things like hospitals not giving out puberty blockers, banning men from women's sports.
00:19:30.000 It is still mind-blowing to me, and I know Charlie's, of course, been on this as much as anyone, but the idea that the Democrats' ideal is when all three podium spots and girls' tracker events go to men.
00:19:41.000 The Democrats will not rest.
00:19:43.000 Until every podium spot in a women's track event goes to men.
00:19:47.000 It's an unbelievable thing that they tried that for so long and we all just kind of went along with it to some degree.
00:19:53.000 All right, he's going to talk about what he's done to fix the economic mess.
00:19:57.000 He's going to talk about extending the 2017 tax cuts and not provide further raises in prices to the American voters.
00:20:08.000 It'll be interesting to see if the Democrats applaud that, if the Democrats want your taxes to go up, essentially.
00:20:13.000 If the Trump tax cuts are not extended from 2017, which is coming up very soon, then it is a tax hike.
00:20:20.000 So just know that the Democrats think that with all the struggles you're going through, hiking your taxes will be good.
00:20:24.000 They will not applaud.
00:20:25.000 The reason why they will not applaud at this point is because they want your taxes to go up because they feel like Trump will ultimately get blamed if that causes more problems for you and your family.
00:20:35.000 So be on the lookout for that.
00:20:37.000 Trump is going to push Congress to pass more funding for deportations and continue to build the wall.
00:20:42.000 This is one report that I have heard from some of my sources that the deportations are somewhat underfunded at this point, which makes a lot of sense, because if you think about how aggressive Tom Homan has been and Stephen Miller have been getting out there, doing interviews, Kristi Noem with her cool outfits, I always like her outfits, always looking great.
00:21:01.000 What she's doing is she's sending a signal to people, stop coming, please don't come anymore, because that Deterrence is the cheapest way to do border enforcement.
00:21:10.000 It just is.
00:21:11.000 So if you start doing things like having things that are expensive...
00:21:16.000 In terms of border security, then you've got to rely on Congress to allocate a lot of those expenditures and a lot of those funds.
00:21:22.000 So it's a lot easier when you just are able to message that borders closed.
00:21:26.000 If you come here, we will deport you.
00:21:28.000 It will be a big pain for you.
00:21:29.000 And so that's why they're doing all that.

00:27:39.000 And if people came out on his side, just know that you're on the side of a dictator over a guy who just got elected by every single swing state, the plurality of the popular vote, and a huge electoral mandate.

00:28:56.000 That probably explains why in the first hour of the show I played how all the Democrats are saying exactly the same talking points today.
00:29:03.000 20-plus Democrats all cut the exact same ad with the exact same script to message against Trump and Musk.
00:29:10.000 Look, it's a tough day if you're in the opposition party right now.
00:29:13.000 It is a tough day when you've got the president who is riding high, is plus nine in some of the polls, approval rating, highest he's ever been.
00:29:21.000 And then he gets a State of the Union where he's going to speak to tens of millions of Americans directly.
00:29:26.000 He always has great stagecraft.
00:29:28.000 It's just incredible performance art for Trump, who understands TV. He understands his medium.

00:31:50.000 So when that vulnerability was coming out, they accused Donald Trump of being a Russian assent.
00:31:57.000 When they're complaining about that Trump does not like democracy, you have to look at the way the Democrats have behaved.

00:32:04.000 They tried to use lawfare to disqualify him.
00:32:06.000 They rigged their own primary in 2016 for Hillary Clinton.
00:32:10.000 They never accept the results of the 2016 general election.
00:32:13.000 They rigged their 2024 primary for Joe Biden, and then they removed Joe Biden and installed Kamala Harris without anyone voting.

00:32:22.000 Backing Vladimir Zelensky and not caring at all that he's completely suspended elections and that he is behaving like a dictator, a fascist dictator, if you include the strange uniform, the Al Sharpton suit that he wears.
00:32:35.000 So all that stuff shows you that they're accusing us of what they're doing.
00:32:39.000 Remember, Trump sold weapons to Ukraine proactively.
00:32:43.000 Biden didn't sell Ukraine weapons until there was an invasion by Putin.

00:32:49.000 Hundreds of Wagner troops in Syria, which was the Russian special forces group that they have.
00:32:55.000 And Trump crushed the Russian energy sector by trying to block the Nord Stream pipeline and tapping a lot of America's energy resources.

00:33:06.000 They talk a big game, but they are not as strategic as Trump.

00:33:11.000 All of this stuff, all their backing of Ukraine, it's all politics.

00:36:00.000 I'm a supporter of truth and the facts.
00:36:02.000 And here's the facts.
00:36:03.000 The man won every swing state.
00:36:05.000 He increased in terms of his voter turnout in his favor from the standpoint of blacks, Latinos, and young voters.
00:36:13.000 He increased his numbers in that regard from 2020. 89% of the counties shifted to the right.
00:36:21.000 That's a mandate.
00:36:22.000 We can sit up there and play around all we want to.
00:36:24.000 In 2020, Trump didn't win the popular vote.
00:36:29.000 He didn't win the electoral college vote.
00:36:31.000 As a matter of fact, the Republicans hadn't won the popular vote, if I remember correctly, since 2004. But they did this year.
00:36:38.000 So 20 years after they last won a popular vote, they won the popular vote.
00:36:43.000 They won the electoral college vote.
00:36:44.000 The mayor won every swing state.
00:36:46.000 And on top of it, 89% of the counties shifted.
00:36:48.000 I don't understand how people can look at that and say, there's no mandate.
00:36:52.000 There's a mandate.
00:36:53.000 Well, it's a different definition of a mandate, I guess.
00:36:55.000 But the problem is that if you're the Democratic Party and you lost 49.8% to 48.3% and you're looking at that 1.5% dip, that's an excuse for you to say, what we did really wasn't that bad.

00:37:10.000 Find a new strategy.
00:37:11.000 So Steve J. Smith is a sports broadcaster and he's an interesting guy.

00:37:17.000 But what I think is most interesting here in what's not being said and is a theme to a lot of the content we've talked about today is the left does not have any sort of leadership.
00:37:26.000 New York City obviously not producing leaders, because if you've got Cuomo coming back in there, if you've got all of these inauthentic, pathetic, old, old, old Democrats cutting the same exact ad, who's the leadership?
00:37:38.000 Who's running this party?
00:37:39.000 It's not Joe Biden anymore.
00:37:41.000 It doesn't seem to be the Obamas.
00:37:42.000 Who's going to step up for them?
00:37:44.000 It doesn't seem like they've got anyone.
00:37:45.000 They were hoping it was Vladimir Zelensky, which was kind of odd.
00:37:49.000 He's not even tall enough to ride all the rides at Disneyland.
00:37:51.000 Guy's going to lead the world.
00:37:54.000 It doesn't make any sense to me.
00:37:55.000 And it is something that we've got to run up the score right now.
00:37:58.000 This is why it's such a big night with Trump's big speech, his State of the Union-type address tonight.

00:38:04.000 It is time to celebrate, but it's time to keep cracking down, keep working hard.
